This smells citrusy, but a different kind. If the original light blue & the intense uses the fruit, this uses the blossom( as in the notes), so what I’m trying to say is it’s less tangy/zesty but still citrus. It also smells green, like a realistic smelling green fragrance, that green note smells like a nice smelling green leaf (lol). & of course the florals are there, not overpowering & done just right. This is a lovely fragrance, a nice twist to the original. It would have been a solid flanker but the downside is it doesn’t last even an hour, so just based on that I wouldn’t recommend. I’ll still wear mine around the house until it’s done but I will never repurchase. Love the packaging! The box it comes in is quite cute.

AnnaElli

Hint of original LB DNA mixed with white florals, wouldn't expect it to work so well together, but it does. Fresh, clean and enchanting, I must say, I liked it a lot. But as is often happens with the perfumes I like, the longevity is quite poor.

I was never a fan of Light Blue, I have an original only after I was given a partially used bottle. After a few usages I decided it was not as bad as I thought.
This year all flankers grabbed my attention. I remember I had a sniff of Portofino when it was launched. I liked it a lot and had no idea it was a limited edition.
I'd love to sniff all flankers but don't think it would be possible in one shop, one year, one day. So I bought a sample of this one. So glad I invested in a sample only. After intitial weird note, which I cannot identify and name, but looking at pyramid here, it may be vine? There is just a light blue. But much much lighter, and desapering very quickly. Nothing special here and I have started to worry about other flankers I ordered or planned to buy...
This is rather miss than hit for me.

PinkRainbow

I love this. It has a breezy freshness that reminds me of a beach at sunset. Clean and warm, with a lemony twist. The orange blossom is prominent to contribute to the citrusy dream. The perfect summer perfume... or one to wear in the dark of winter to remind you that summer days will be back.

Rober7a

Pure lemon. I was shocked to see no citrus in the notes.

Millicake88

Sunset in Salina smells nothing like the original L.blue. I hated L.Blue on me, too lemony and very harsh wood even bitter at times. Sunset in Salina blends harmoniously with my skin and truly envoke the feeling of the setting sun.

S.S Opens with light woods, orange blossom, and a hint of green.
After 10mins warm amber and sweet Jasmine are the main players with orange blossom background. Very beachy vibes....
After 3hrs. mellows out to a slightly salty, sweet powdery amber scent and super cuddlely soft skin scent.
5hrs of moderate projection
8+hr of soft skin scent
Most complimented summer fragrance in my collection.

Vickalicious

I'm not a big fan of this flanker. This was a recent blind-buy, based on recommendations of a YouTube reviewer. The vine note in this one does not play well with my skin chemistry. This smells like a VERY light and faint version of the original, with a bitter green/vine note. Thankfully, I purchased the smallest size. I will use it up, however I will not repurchase. A much more beautiful flanker is Escape to Panarea (also recommended by the same YouTube reviewer). Sunset in Salina does not last very long at all, it wears very much like a body spray.

tinabelcher

I can see why it may not be a hit with everyone, in fact I've let a friend of mine sniff the bottle & she recoiled from it - but for me it's wonderful & it works. I smell pure sunlight, & on me it has much more projection & longevity than the other Light Blues I've had like Italian Zest & Sun. One of the few fragrances that I have bought a second bottle. I think it really shines in the drydown, so if trying it on make sure you take note of the drydown phase.

Dort0625

I found the 100mls size of this at Winners for 34.99 and thought that since light blue eau intense is one of my top fives that I would love this, and of course no sampler, and no return policy. So I find this one...I want to say strange, but not in a terrible way. It smells EXACTLY like the babybum sunscreen that’s forever a staple in the homes of many during the summer months. The dry down I can slightly smell the light blue but not at all like I thought I would. I can’t say I love this, which pains me so bad :( it’s like a 5-6 out of 10.

Jesmur

Smells good. Dry down is like the original light blue, but softer and less sharp. However, I did return it because the sillage and longevity are terrible. Could barely smell it within a half hour.

ericah12345

I managed to find this on sale the other day and I was so happy since I've been regretting I didn't get this in 2015. I was a bit suspicious as I thought that maybe the fragrance has gone bad as it's probably been almost 4 years since it was manufactured but I decided to give it a go because it was a bargain. And I'm glad I did because there isn't anything wrong with the juice and it's just like I remembered!

This is a beautiful fragrance that is suited for everyday wear. It's green, floral, and clean and it reminds me of sitting on a warm rock by the sea on a warm summer day. Wind is slightly blowing and you're breathing salty sea air. Sometimes you catch a whiff of orange blossoms and jasmine coming from the flower field and orangery behind you. Lovely!

The dry down is soft and musky with a hint of cedar. I'd say it's almost identical to the dry down of the original Light Blue.

I smile even know that I write a short review on this. It's because D&G Light Blue flankers are so well-known and generic, I feel that everyone knows them anyway. Yet, here I stand saying that this, just like Panarea and like Capri, this is something special. Is it haute perfumery? No, but it is special and pretty. While Panarea has this beautiful ripe and warm pear and Capri that nostalgic honeysuckle, Salina is warm and conforting. You know that feeling when you're on vacation, you spent the whole day at the beach, got a slight tan, took a shower in the evening and went for a stroll in the night? The smell of summer tanned skin that is refreshed by the evening breeze? This is what I smell in Salina, a bit of freshness and herbal from the leaves and the warmth of the amber. Unfortunately, this seems to be very fleeting and staying power is heartbreaking. Alas, just like summer vacations.

sopke

After huge popularity of Light Blue has passed and not every sencond girl use it,I got guts to smell a flanker of it. And yet it has no citrus and plastic smell,so little let from LB, since Sunset in Salina is about flowers and softness, very feninine. Maybe nothing extraordinary, more generic one, but i guess exactly simplicity makes any sunset special - flowers, water before sun goes down. Suits for day and evenings if not fancy event. I like it.

muahah

First 5 minutes in front was fresh leaves. Then it became aromatic with synthetic sugary note. It's somewhat resinous airy sweet. Most pronounced after some time is amber note, which I guess is supposed to be related to sunset feel and color. I don't sense much cedar here, it's very in background. Do I smell swimsuit or it's something that reminds it? I think there also are some fruits. Lovely, but that's about it. If it makes any sense for me this smells little bit like barbie doll if I can remember correctly that doll from my childhood.
Doesn't remind D&G Light Blue. LB is way more heavy, almost unisex while this is more relaxed, for somewhat doll like woman. Only when perfume is almost faded there is some resemblance with LB.

candyfluff

I found this cheap at TKMaxx, I saw it when it came out but was too expensive for such a light smell. However I put it on this morning and was surrounded by a wonderful clean fresh scent with a hint of violet this lasted for about four hours. It is very inoffensive but very much there in a good ladylike way subtle but charming.

greenbluegray

Just like you all said, wayyyy too light. But my (very important, haha) mission this summer is to get my nose on all the D&G LB summer versions. This one has the familiar smell of a nice hairspray from my childhood, maybe White Rain? I was able to snag a used bottle so I got a good amount without paying too much. Not sophisticated like Escape to Panarea. Almost in the category of the Burberry Touch baby fragrances and would be good for a young teen.

Janlaw

I would say this is light blue but scent is too light. It is the watered down light blue am not picking up on the Orange. The marketing gives it sooo much potential but unfortunately it underperformed by simply duplicating the original but watering it down..,,

Livgranger

Smells 'nice' for about five minutes, it's not even around long enough to decipher any notes in this. It's there and then poof! It's gone. Not worth spending any money on.

savageinstrangeland

Poor longevity, poor silage, smell itself is okay but not worth the money imo.

To understand what Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue perfumes are named after, one should look no further than the colour of the Sicilian sky in the summer. Light blue, blue light.

Having spent many a summer in all parts of Sicily and being from the South of Italy myself, I went intrepidly where countless reviewers and perfume aficionados had been and finally bought one of the many Light Blue perfumes: Sunset in Salina.

From my holiday in the Aeolian Islands (of which Salina is one) I distinctly recall the feeling of going into the sea at twilight, or even at dusk, which is a relief and a beautiful feeling in August after the sun has filled the day with heat and warmed the sea. Your feet touch the cool sand beach, while the Mediterranean sea water is somewhat warm, having had all day in 42 degrees' heat.

Light Blue Sunset in Salina recalls the salty air, the mineral sand and the heated up smell of jasmines and orange blossoms which are ubiquitous in Sicily, especially in the summer: wild jasmines flower at night especially, and in the twilight they mix with the orange groves and the cooled down beaches. This sensation is all there in this perfume.

This version is much warmer than the original Light Blue, and less sharp than Portofino. I had found both too artificial. In contrast, this is less chemical smelling and more "human", more like a skin scent.

For those who think of this line as a boring, too-light ozonic type of scent: this is exactly what you need in the Mediterranean, when the 40+ degrees heat doesn't allow you to wear anything heavier. A perfume made to be worn in the height of summer. Better, a Sicilian summer.

In a bottle.

wingz85

Ahhh... Such a beautiful fragrance... So fresh and light. Its a little leafy green sharp like the scent of crushed leaves when you smell it up close and later develops into something flowery and fresh... I am not a big fan of very floral perfumes but this ons is very fresh, almost as if I am walking in a garden of jasmine and freesia. I can see myself wearing this everyday.

Adela7

don't judge it in the first half hour. the drydown is impressive, although it starts sharp and tingy.
the warmness comes softly, giving a peaceful feeling.
there it is, what i knew i liked about it.
again, the opening is a bit deceiving.

jana.hullinghorst

I hate the original. IMO, LB is quite sour and will choke you out with it's "etherealness".

That being said, I think Sunset in Salina is lovely! The freesia adds a nice sweet note, and the vine a lush wet greenness I can appreciate. This isn't one for burying your nose in because it is sharp up close, especially right after application, but this creates the feeling of freshness that will stick with you throughout the day. Easily one of my fave summer time scents when my Aqua Di Gio feels too dated and everything else feels too fussy.

sashasshowroom

The scent is both warm and a fresh like the other perfumes from the D&G Light Blue collection. This one is my absolute favorite, and I can´t believe I´ve not been introduced to "Sunset in Salina" before..

The scent never gets old. And it´s not at all overpowering "taking over the room kind of scent". It´s just sensual and sophisticated. White wine, green leaf, white florals and citrussy.

Jinjanoo

I have recently discovered Light Blue and loved it (I saw Vicky, one of the Real Housewives of Orange County spray it) and now I really like this one.

relativelystoic

Sharp citrus scent with hint of spice or pepper. Interesting scent. This is my first time I had this kind of scent in my collection.

LadyPilot

If AMBER is what attracts you to the original Light Blue, this is the scent for you! Here, amber is the queen, ruthlessly ruling the territory. Everything else stays way in the background, if noticeable at all... However, if you're looking for the common citrussy freshness of the original, you're in the wrong place. Freshness doesn't live here. Only amber... and amber... and some vague flowers... and amber... Amber... AMBERRRRR!!!!!

ntabassum92

strong orange blossom, musky and sour. similar to love story by chloe. opens with a lot of leafy notes, sour leaves. In the heart, other leaves can be smelt, less sour, more sweet green. Same strong sour character as original Light Blue. it's a nice scent, but it's not the kind of scent that leaves much to say about it - it doesn't spark much feeling in me, i'm afraid. although i am getting a tinge at the end that is reminiscent of shalimar...but it more just makes me wish i had the real shalimar, the citrus with a twist that is far more interesting than this fragrance.

i will say, it lasts a long time for an eau de toilette! impressive.

OTA Mom

I have wanted to purchase this fragrance since its release, it has been on my mind all this time, but did not want to pay for a full 1.6 oz. Finally found one on ebay (WIN!) since this limited edition was not made available in travel size. Lovely orange version of 'Light Blue', not heavy or too busy, just a wonderful warm summer breeze. My kids love to wear it, too.

Sassygirl18

I've been wearing this scent for 2 days and trying to figure out what other fragrance it reminds me of and I finally realized...it is a dead ringer for Acqua di Gioia. It may be a little softer, but it's essentially the same scent.

Sxaninha

I'm just loving this perfume!! <3
Sunset in Salina is very warm, really gives that feeling of sunset. It's easy going and won't offend anybody around you.
I sense it like a mix of the original (fresh citrus) and Escape to Panarea (fresh and sweet) BUUUT without the prominent citrus note. The color of the juicy is also very appealing. D&G did not disappointed me :)

km9699

Smells delicious on a paper slip, almost as if you're on a little seaside trail with a garden just around the corner, tickling your nose. Mmmm...

However, on me, the story was a little different. It smells just like on paper at first, but within an hour, the scent makes a sharp turn towards salty and even overly metallic. Yuck! When I returned home, my sister smelled the metallic scent immediately, even at about five feet away from me.

I had to take a shower to scrub it out.

TL;DR, I wanted to love this scent but it simply did not sit right with my natural skin composition. I'm sure this is a scent that would work sublimely on someone else, though, because on paper it is impeccable!

genny17

Very nice, the top notes smell great, it is fresh, summery. Issue is it disappears fast, too fast for me to want to own it..nonetheless I enjoyed my sample, better than Light Blue which is too citrusy on me,Salina is a happy scent, well balanced, and for those who want a rather light fresh scent, this smells very nice!!

Nikkafragrance

This is better than the original, which is too sharp and citrusy for me. On my skin the scent opens with orange blossom, freesia, cedar and violet leaves. Nice fragrance, full of energy.

joan100

This is basically the original scent but with a tad bit more emphasis on orange blossom (hence the orange liquid). Perhaps they could of thrown in some orange coloured citruses or fruit to justify the drastic change in colour of the juice/bottle but they had no imagination when it came to the scent!

labradorite

I'm so sad. I didn't even have enough time to give it a proper test, because it was gone from my skin before I noticed. It lasted for an hour and after that I could find only a shadow of it when I pressed my nose into my skin.

Initially it smelled like syntethic citrus, you know the kind they put in room sprays. I don't know how as it's not even a listed note. Orange blossom is a listed one, but the orange blossoms I know don't (and shouldn't) smell like that. When that inital blast calmed down, I was able to detect jasmine and some freesia. Aaand this is my complete impression as by this time the scent faded so quickly it was impossible to pick up on anything else.

Very sad, because the original Light Blue is one of my favourites. I guess this one just isn't compatible with my skin. I wish you better luck with it!

Kaamos

Completely bummed that I have to give this a negative review. I was a huge fan of the original Light Blue, but as much as this one sounds delightful, it is a complete disappointment. I sprayed this an hour ago and I can barely pick up the scent anymore. Sillage is next to nonexistent and it appears longevity will be lacking as well. Was really expecting more from a bottle signed by D&G. Sadly won't be picking this one up in the foreseeable future.

Musky4

This is a typical summer fragrance - fresh, light and floral. Sillage and lasting-power are poor on me and there is nothing about this fragrance that stands out from any of the others on the market. It's not that I dislike it as such, it's pleasant enough, but I just find it quite boring. Personally I liked Escape to Panarea more and wouldn't buy this one.

magnoliapetals2011

I love ♥ this perfume, I sampled it and fell in love, surprisingly it lasts quite a while on my skin and cloths. Beautiful fregrence :-)

ScarlettX

I sense mostly green notes and floral notes. I sense violet leaf quite strongly. It's not the nicest note and it bothers me a little.
Still, the whole thing is nice and wearable, I guess, I just liked the previous versions of Light Blue much more.
It's nice, but that's it.

aym

It is very like on me I smell mostly jasmine and orange blossom with the freesia adding a sweetness to it. I think it is really a summer fragrance very well suited to the hot weather. I wouldn't buy it since the silage is low and the depth is just not there.

hissyknit

I am a little underwhelmed at the bottle. It looks like something you see at a Big Lots or other close-out store.

Then I tried it and really who gives a rat's butt when you experience this beautiful scent?

It has the most unusual combination of flowers and the beach. Not kind of beach smell coming from a beached ten day fish. I mean the kind of fresh beach smell.

I am a bit disappointed about the longevity.

hot_tamalie

@pretty swag great review! I purchased this yesterday from my local PX and got the 1.6oz for $62. This is truly a floral scent, great for the spring and summer. At first spray I can smell a little bit of the original light blue but when it settles on my skin and I can begin to smell a lot of green leaves and orange. I'm not crazy about it only because I am more of a sweet scent person and I wanted to switch it up a bit because I don't have many floral scents. Don't get me wrong though, it still smells good but I'm feeling Escape to Panera over this one and the original.

O and I forgot to add that this one lasts on me for a about 2-3 hours with small projection. It seems that out of all the Dolce & gabbana that I have every owned The One is the only one that has the capability to last all day on me.

butterbean

Best Light Blue flanker yet! This is quite nice.

I get orange blossomy, sweet, jasmine straight off. The cedar is definitely not pronounced like the original.

I love the orange blossom, jasmine and freesia heart of this scent. It blends very well with a more toned down cedar amber base.

I need to give it a proper test and update this review. But I think its a very nice spring and summer scent and is so much better than the prior 2 flanker releases.

hot_tamalie

So has anyone tested this one yet? I enjoyed Escape to Panera from last year and I am trying to decide if I should get this new bottle of go back to Panera.

dannysmom

And I could have sworn this page had salt notes listed. They are gone now. I definitely do not smell salt in this perfume.

dannysmom

I am happy when I try fragrances like this because it's one I have absolutely no desire to buy (saves money). It's not bad, just not very exciting. I actually loved and bought the version from last year (Escape). This one pales in comparison. It's so light, I can barely smell it. I can smell the leaves in it, and that's about it. Everything is kind of washed out and nondescript. Not offensive in the slightest, and kind of boring (in my opinon). I have absolutely no desire to purchase.

DarlingNikki

Thanks for the info.
Google Earth took me to the United States, Mexico and Africa.
My thought was so far from Italy.
Wow, so obvious the island of Salina be near the island of Panarea.
I bet the next releases of Dolce & Gabbana is: Light Blue - In Search of Capri Island and Light Blue - Beautiful Sunrise in Filicudi

Sorry, did the translation by Google translator Brazil.

DarlingNikki

Salina is a small island just north of Sicily with about 4,000 residents (per Wikipedia). Looks lovely in pictures and seems a tranquil place to visit.

Rhairis

Can anyone answer me?
Salina is a country, city or island?
Thank U.
(Google translator Brasil)

tinaelisa

Seems like salt is the new trendy note.. With this one, Reveal by Calvin Klein and Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. Which ones am I missing?
