The first accord is universally pleasing, almondy, juicy, sweet scent. Soon enough, however, that juiciness is gone and what's left is most generic soap. Probably a safe blind buy though

emilia123

This is verrryyy pineapple-forward on me, and I don't hate it. Wish the almond was more pronounced.

Rama Rama

Almost identical to the OG to my nose can't tell the difference. Love them both but still I think I prefer the OG cause I think it's a bit stronger and thicker

Cecilie.l.s.m

I am really happily surprised by this scent.

I get a whiff of almond and vanilla along with ylang-ylang, which creates a solid, soft, and rounded base. On top, there is a delightful layer of fresh, sweet fruit (especially pineapple and pear).
And as the icing on the cake, I get a beautiful hint of white flowers.

I would wear this all year round, but works great for me, in warmer weather.

Incredibly soft and creamy scent.
Gourmand without actually being edible.

Katelynl88

Just had to come back because a commenter below
( rrouge 23) and their comment was absolutely disgusting. Talking down to people because their opinions about it being a winter perfume are different than hers???? Really classy ( eye roll). This is a place for us to put our personal opinions about our personal fragrance experience……… to berate people and say we all have colonized noses and should stick to fir and resin ???? That’s a pretty nasty personality you have there. You can voice your opinion without tearing others down for not thinking the exact same as you - just a really nasty arrogant comment .

Katelynl88

Oh wow . Yuck . This is horrible , this smells like straight u cough syrup . It actually smells very similar to the og girl of now but not as good . I don’t know what else to say , this is a scrubber definitely. Really bad . I’m surprised it has so many lives . By the notes I should have loved it but sadly no

Bomblepants

The burst of pineapple in the opening is gorgeous… it melts into a slightly softer, more wearable Coco Vanille from Mancera… to my nose this is a really close dupe. If you’re upset about Shine being discontinued try CV, but go easy on the sprays (SO strong) :)

Capricorn89

Wow…first of all this is long lasting one and it reminds me a lot of Coco Vanilla by Mancera don’t know why…like a lot to my nose. I smell a lot of coconut and vanilla. I cannot pick up any of the other notes unfortunately and a tiny bit of almond..maybe something wrong with my nose. Veeeery nice one!!! I have both Girl of now Original and Shine. I love them both. But Shine projects a lot more, longevity is a lot more and silage also on my skin personally. But they both are great!!!

Adrian_foroozandeh

I love this peefume. It is very delicious. It is combination of fruits and almond, fruits (pineapple and pear) and vanilla. Although I don't like vanilla in high dosage, but in this perfume it is very nice. I couldn't resist and bought 50ml bottle of this perfume.

hotbaby1

Girl of Now Shine is a winter perfume. It’s beautiful, smells like a rich woman . Very almond forward with the iris present that makes it smell luxurious. It can be worn at the office as well as at night, and the longevity is good. It’s not too heavy, but definitely a bit thick. I like it.

SaraKa

I agree that this is a powerful fragrance. I use this as a date night perfume for that reason. There is no way I could wear this everyday without it starting to make me feel a bit sick. I've never smelled the original Girl Of Now, but I assume that the og would be more up to my taste since the main gripe I have with this fragrance is its fruitiness. The best part is the powderiness, It smells like a warm hug. It's a crowd-pleaser for sure.

Tashateex

This is a powerful fragrance. If you love gourmands then give this a try.

This is an almond forward fragrance and it projects very well. I would say go in with a Iight hand as I can be a bit sickly if oversprayed, and it also lasts really long.

It's a very warm and sweet scent, so best suited for the colder months. I would like to try the original and other in this line. A love from me!

alusskaa

This was a blind buy and I had really high hopes for this perfume. And it is even better! I love it so much and I can pretty much imagine that this may be someones signture scent for colder months. It is sweet, but not sickly sweet. On me I get monstly nutty tones with a hint of fruit, which is very pleasant and the fruit breaks a bit the sweetness. Gourmand scent, but I do not feel like a candy, when I wear it. Longevity is so good! I can still smell it from my clothes and hair 48 after the application. I got 50 ml bottle for 25 EUR, so the price is definitely reasonable for what you get.

YourFragranceFriend

Bright blast of pineapple. It’s both juicy and sharp yet rounded out with an almost powdery mid. In the sillage, it’s more powdered sugar sweet. Imagine powdered sugar being sprinkled on dried pineapple cubes.

During the mid, I prefer the scent projection rather than how it smells up close. If I smell right where I sprayed, it has that acrid artificial sweet scent that some fragrances get when you mix sweet and white floral. I get that kind of thing from Parfums De Marly Oriana too. It’s got a bit of that almondy powderiness that can be a bit off-putting. Together, I do get the slight play dough/fart putty of childhood. I did not like the scent at this point.

In the dry down, I’m getting what people like about this. It’s sweet and warm. I’d say somehow powdery yet almost doughy and round. I still get a dried fruit note in the base as well. I wish I could skip the mid to just have the dry down with more projection.

This is a good transitional fragrance both to and from summer.

firstmate423

I own Girl of now OG and Girl of Now Shine and I think I am leaning toward Shine as my favorite. I get so many compliments when I wear it. That pineapple just gives it an extra sweetness that sets it apart. I just finished my first bottle and immediately ordered a replacement!

Gabsp28

Elie saab is one of my favourites. This one, shine is no different. Strong long lasting. First spray is sweet, i get the fruits, mostly pineapple. dries down, and the almond and vanilla come through. Smells different through the day on my skin which I love.

Amber Plokchouli

I sprayed this on in the store today and on my skin it smells a lot like a nuttier version of Olympéa, but without the salt after the opening. Once I got home I sprayed on Olympea to compare side by side but the test spray from the store has already faded quite a bit. I can tell they differ more than I initially thought, but they do have something going on that is very similar. It might be because they’re both Dominique Ropion creations.. I think they have the exact same vanilla note too. I like Girl of Now Shine a lot, but I think I won’t buy a full bottle, as it feels too similar to Olympea and smelling it on my skin made me miss a salt note. I want to layer it with Olympea though, because I crave a version of Olympea that has that warm, nutty depth to it.. maybe I’ll buy it just for that..

RRouge23

Imagine, all these ingredients grow in the heat of the tropics, yet some colonized noses have the audacity to call them winter fragrances. Smh. You’re telling me nature grows these beautiful scents only in warm weather to be preserved and sold to people who live in freezer countries? I don’t think so: warm weather plants are for all seasons or warm seasons. Only because of colonization do people think tropical vanilla and sweet pineapple or creamy sandalwood is for the cold. But this is a lie. Wear your pinecones and fir resins if you want true winter fragrances. This is an all around fragrance.

Kim Milan

I actually prefer this than the OG also heard this was discontinuing, don’t know how true that is tho 😩

Peaches&Cream

To me this has quite the same DNA as Girl of Now, except the OG has more of the pineapple note. This one is more nuttier. Maybe since I wore this out on a warm day , the notes aren't appearing...I simply get a one tone note which is a faint smell of pineapple, nutty/almond.

Once the cooler weather starts to arrive I will wear this again and give it an update. For now I would say this is not a summer perfume.

Fifi3131

Sweet spicy woody almond 😋 🥜
little bit cloying not more than 3 sprays with excellente sillage and longevity
I prefer to wear it in cold season 🌧🌩🌧🌧

alice_w

This smells like its name suggests - very shiny. It smells like a really super sweet dessert (might be a bit sickly sweet). I appreciate the delicious gourmand notes, but find it hard to really wear it in any occasion.

Jojo789

I have the OG, Shine, and Forever. I truly love them all. For me, the OG is more for fall and winter. Shine is like the lighter, summery version. It's a bit of a summer gourmand, IMO. It is very sweet, fruity (pineapple), and almond-y. It is quite similar to the OG, so if you have that one and wish there was a lighter version for when it's hot out, this would be perfect for you.

prerana20

I saw this at a department store, a single box on the shelf. I knew it had been discontinued so this box I was looking at was probably the only remaining one. I snagged it immediately and tried it on.

It smells amazingggg. The freshness of the opening smoothly blends into the white florals. The nuttiness stays throughout and pairs so well with the base notes. I have to say though, that it is quite patchouli heavy. I love this and I think it's going to be my summer scent. GON Shine has amazing sillage too.

I'm sad that I probably can't buy another bottle of this :(

jocing

I can't stand the strong almond and sickening sweet (tonka) from the Girl of now. It cause me headache. The performance of girl of now is great but is above beyond for my organ to except.

But for Girl of Now Shine is just have perfect balance for me. Just with only one spray on my skin.
From the level of sweetness from the vanilla, freshness, powdery, nutty level is perfectly well balance to my nose.

The Pineapple don't stand out sharp, it blend so well with the jasmine.
The jasmine is not prominent but you get notice the jasmine too. The scent is similar to D&G the only one intense. But D&G the only intense have more jasmine and coconut vanilla. You can tell this two are totally different. If you love D&G the only one intense (the Black bottle one), you will definitely love it too.

When those balance notes was in perfectly well balance and they project to the air. This smell like a happy, bright, summery, sweet, fruit scent. Make you happy.

Is a master piece. I love it!

Anyway, this might not for everyone. Is not a safe blind buy. I don’t wear very often due to acceptance level by group might turn some people off.

CiCiGourmand

This is just so beautiful and it's a shame that it's no more. I'm almost at the end of my bottle and IMO this is the best Girl Of Shine there is.

The pineapple note helps to cut through the thickness of the almond x pistachio combo in a way that makes it a little more interesting. I'm wearing it right now in 80° weather and loving it! I'm not sure if I'd rock it during the hottest days of summer, but I might try because I love it that much.

Elie Saab please bring this back. 💗

Night of April

I bought both Elie Saab Girl of Now and Girl of Now Shine as a 7,5 ml sample each one.
I woould say both of then start in a same way, soft and and orangy.

I am smelling them at the same time so I can compare them the best I can.
I would say, the original one tends to dry more sweet and nutty (with a "clean" touch), whereas the Shine version tends to be even sweeter and fruity.

I love them and they are a win for me. I still have to keep testing them but they are a win for me!

They are the kind of scent that make you happy and you feel better after spraying then on yourself.

cyclone1391

Trying in slightly cooler weather, dry down is quite powdery. Perhaps it's because I've had the sample longer as well. After the very brief opening, the vanilla, iris, patchouli base is quite prominent. Not really summery or tropical at all. Much different than the OG on my skin.

Princessy

Sweeter than the OG and it's the only from the GON line that I actually like.
You have to love very sweet perfume in order to enjoy this one and to give an idea, it has the same type of sweetness as the pink Sugar line.
It's a creamy nutty perfume with a touch of pineapple in the opening and it's very well blended.
I could see myself wearing this all year around, but it definitely blooms in hotter days.

Icarel

Can a flanker be better than the original? With Girl of Now Shine, I think it can. It's almost the same as the original but with an obvious pineapple twist, better longevity and better sillage. It makes you hungry or at least craving a Pina Colada-like/Almond syrup cocktail in Dubai or Beirut. We remain in the theme of an oriental pastry with almond and sweet pistachio, but we added tablespoons of pineapple syrup to this liquid dessert, making the recipe lighter and more tropical. The name Shine was well chosen; it is the glow and summery (good weather) version of the original perfume. And to top it all off, it holds and projects way much better than the OG, so definitely a keeper for me and something I will recommend to those who liked the OG and, like me, find it difficult to wear in warm weather (too sweet/oriental treat-like).

Lovescents3

This is better on me as it dries down and the fruit notes fade. I am a fruity scent lover but I don’t think the fruity notes are done well in GON original and GON Shine. I’ve not smelled the other flankers.

Having said that, it’s a very enjoyable creamy, jasmine dominant fragrance. Creamy jasmine is mostly what I get with a hint of dry patchouli at the base.

It’s a floral amber, with a creamy aspect, from the nuttiness of the almond and/ or pistachio notes. It’s distinctive and strong. I think I would only feel like wearing this on a cold day. It could definitely be a mood booster on a cold day. More cold day than night time.

As noted in other reviews this smells slightly more well blended than the original but shortly after the initial spray they are very similar.

shoujomarina

verryy nutty! not expensive smelling. closest thing from my collection that it reminds me of is Dolce Garden. i don’t really like that one either because the nuttiness gives me a headache. i can appreciate it for being gourmandy, but wouldn’t wear it

Clairexoxo

I never tried the original, I only tried this one and the Forever flanker.

Girl of Now Shine has a bright pineapple opening, but sadly this note disappears within 10 min. Overall, I get vanilla and a lot of bitter nuts, which is not pleasant upclose. Quite harsh.
In the air, it is a very artificial-bubblegummy sillage. This is the more likeable part of this fragrance in my opinion.

Personally, this is overall okay. Average performance.

I do prefer the Girl Of Now Forever which is a tart raspberry scent with creamy sweet vanilla. Forever is less nutty than Shine. They are very different, but both are average with Forever being more pleasant because it has less of those harsh bitter nuts.

TheNyx2003

It smells like a pineapple pie 😍🍍 with a touch of floral powderyness in the background
Pistachio is noticable to me too
It's a sooo well blended fragrence
So sweet , youthful , playful , happy scent
The time that you're not in the mood and you don't know what to wear girl of now shine is the best choice
All around the year fragrence and the sillage is also powerful

Edit : everytime that i wear it on my wrist and then sniff i wanna eat my wrist up , yummy !

Chavezb3

Buttery, upside down pineapple cake. I prefer this over the original. This one seems to be smoother & fruiter.

nateya

On my skin, this smells exactly like Olympea minus the salt note. But on my clothes it’s a creamy vanilla nutty scent with a splash of orange blossom (it doesn’t smell like Olympea at all on fabric). I was hoping the pistachio and pineapple would be prominent but it’s not with my chemistry. The longevity is insane with this one, it lasted over 24 hours on my clothes and I continuously got wafts of it even after the 24 hours. This was a blind buy and I was initially disappointed, only because I really wanted a pistachio forward fragrance. But the more I wear it the more I am falling in love. It’s a very beautiful fragrance and even though it’s not exactly what I was hoping for, I don’t regret the purchase!

AnlisaC

Love it and everything everyone says down below is correct. Creamy nutty goodness! Love pistachio and almonds in fragrance! Not much more to say….

SophiaViolette

Opens with a beautiful gourmand vanilla, and dries down to delicious fruity, buttery and nutty notes. The notes are all well balanced, and overall this is a young and uplifting scent.
Can’t stop smelling it — even thought this is not the type of scent I am looking for to buy.

The almond and style of gourmand reminds me of Kilian’s Rolling in Love (I was disappointed by this perfume), yet It’s Girl Of Now Shine that deserves all the praise!
It’s gourmand and playful, I haven’t tried Girl Of Now to compare with ‘Shine’ that has some additional fruits. The notes are well balanced, so the fruits and florals don’t dominate one another, don’t expect a “juicy” pineapple but more like nutty-buttery pineapple cake… which is even better!

The patchouli, pear and white florals bring some lightness and sophistication at dry-down, with the vanilla always there. Gourmands lovers, give it a try, and this is such a great price!

Oh, I love a perfume that you can softly smell on yourself all day. And this GON Shine doesn’t disappoint. It has a wonderful silage that is there from morning ‘til days end.

It opens with a noticeable pineapple note, but it’s the heavenly Orange Blossom that wafts in the air through the day, with a subtle almond to the side. I had read that Elie Saab is being celebrated for it’s white floral creations, and I can’t wait to test more from this House.

And the bottle is a stunner! Out of my 60 bottles, this is one of the prettiest. An enthusiastic Love for me.

Rainstorm

Had this over a year now. This is quite simply put a happy and gorgeous fragrance.
It exudes a bright vivaciousness, juiciness and deliciousness. It’s a joy to smell and I have to disagree respectfully in that it doesn’t project. I think it’s quite the demanding diva in that respect. It’s not obnoxious though and normally i steer clear of fruity fragrances. I think the white florals like jasmine help to elevate this to something more grown up. If you want a fragrance that is going to make you smile and just feel happy 😊 this is it!

peachygal

Sweet, creamy, nutty and a tiny bit pineappley! It def has the Ellie saab dna which I adore. Doesn’t project very well but lasts on the skin. I haven’t tried the original but this is gorgeous.

Morgan45

I have the OG and I love it but I've been trying a sample of Shine for a few days and I think I like it better. They're not THAT different after an hour or so when completely dried down, but I find that Shine has a slight spiciness and a slightly sharper floral that cut through the overwhelmingly creamy sweetness of the original, and that's what I think GON was missing for me. However, as I mentioned, the differences are mostly in the opening. I find that after an hour or less, the two dry down into something very, very similar. I don't think I need both, but if I had to choose one or the other, I think I'd go for Shine.

meldloves

I tried it a couple of months ago and I didn’t like it at all, there was a difficult note for me in it (maybe the pineapple) but then I gave it another chance today and it was a pleasant surprise. I feel the almond and fruits, it’s light yet cozy.

Fragnant

Sol de janeiro x Azzaro Wanted Girl. This projects!

amal21

i purchased this one like as a why not cause the website didnt have the OG but i so regret it the pineapple + almond combo makes me uneasy but i bought a whole 50ml so i try to block out the pineapple. the pineapple not fades after a little bit and then its just almond.

CatOwned

I got the mini in a set. I prefer this one to the regular GON, but then the dry down ruins this one for me just like the dry down ruins the OG. This one has a weird rubbery smell in the dry down LoL. Glad I didn't pay for the bigger sizes

I will do more testing and hopefully my opinion changes.

Rolawlaw

I don’t hate it but i don’t like it.
It’s okay the pineapple syrup smell annoys me i wish that i have purchased the OG

noneya88

A few reviewers mentioned that Shine is basically the Summertime version of the OG and I think that about sums it up. It's still a delicious, sweet, powdery, nutty and warm gourmand but not nearly as attention seeking and dominant. The fruitiness is toned down quite a bit too as the pineapple really only lingers throughout the opening, and the nuttiness of Shine is more almond to the OGs pistachio. I think that's the reason why some say it's similar to the Poison line (it's that sweet, powdery almond thing going on). The OG is still superior IMO. I don't care if I choke myself out in the middle of Summer down here in Florida I'm going to be smelling DELICIOUS.

Ececanga

Has anyone tried layering/mixing this with the OG?

SereneWerewolf

This is a gourmand lover’s dream!

Starts off with sugary pineapple along with the nuttiness and soft, powdery, delicately sweet florals. As I wear it, the scent grows ever sweeter. The pineapple “bakes” down into the nuttiness and vanilla and becomes gooey and caramelized. The florals begin to subside, leaving behind just traces of softness.

After a few hours, the result is (as other reviewers have said) a super yummy, ooey gooey pineapple upside cake! The lingering softness of the florals mixed with the overall warmth of the fragrance give the impression of being wrapped in a soft, cozy sweater.

This is decadent in a wholesome and comforting way. It’s great to wear out on overcast days as it makes one feel as if they are hanging out in a warm kitchen while wearing their coziest sweater as they bake a delicious pineapple cake.

itsmydesire

The best of all girl of now flankers!
That pineapple note really amps this up to be a ridiculously sweet bomb, in the best way possible.

P.s. who do we have to contact about this pages main photo to be cropped/edited? It looks uneven in my fragrance wardrobe with the reflection of bottle on bottom of the picture :(

Marmacita

I like this a lot. I have the OG, shine, and forever. I see many people saying that if you have the original than you don’t need this, but I disagree. Shine is sweeter with pineapple and although the rest is the same, it is overall lighter. The original is best in cold weather and shine is for the warmer months. If you love the dna and want to wear it year round, having both is a good idea.

kafutul

Warm enveloping gourmand very nutty very strong. Love it! has similarities with angel muse.

Rosemary14

Gooey, sticky, sweet pineapple upside down cake. Wow this is sweet! It still has the syrupy, rich, almondy DNA of Girl of Now but with a splash of candied pineapple in it. Resembles the original a lot in my opinion. The only one in this range that’s very different is the Girl of Now Forever which reminds me of strawberry lemonade. This one has a little less orange blossom maybe. I honestly don’t think you need this one if you have the original.

TexasOrangeBlossom

Yes, it is similar to the original, but I don’t find it to be beast mode like the OG. I live in a hot and frequently humid area. GON is very difficult to wear on a hot, humid day. I haven’t tested Shine in high heat, but I can see it working in heat as long as you don’t spray and instantly leave your air conditioned home. Let it dry down for 20-30 minutes or so. I also get a pineapple upside down cake vibe, which is a pleasant difference from the OG. I’m a little disappointed that it doesn’t last as long as the OG, but maybe that’s okay. I really have to be committed to wearing the OG because it sticks around forever. Days on my hair even after washing! Forever on clothes! Not so with Shine. She shines for a time and sets with the sun.

Adjr1087

Very very similar to the original one. And even when I tell you they are so alike you don't really need to have both of them, I still find a way to justify how I need to have both of them in my collection. And I can't get rid of any of them. This Girl of Now line has to be one of the most delicious perfume lines I have ever smelled in my life. But again, I am a huge almond fan and nutty perfumes DRIVE ME CRAZYYYY IN LOVE!

aquadiamor

Had to get this one because it smelled so good in the store and the scent lingered with me until I washed it off which is great. It smells so comforting on the skin and it smells like me , or what I want to smell like if I wasn’t wearing perfume! In that sense it’s neither obnoxious or trying to impress the room or seduce it, but more so welcoming me into it where I can project myself as this being of cozy and comfy while being slightly almond scented. The pineapple is kind of odd but I still prefer it being here than not, alas as I prefer this one over the original. The pineapple really only shows up for me in the beginning anyway and I wouldn’t even be mad if it chooses to stay longer than that but I haven’t had that happen yet.

I think the most magical thing is when you find a perfume that you don’t wear but the perfume wears you, almost like finding a piece of yourself in the bottle. It’s pretty awesome and it happened with this one.

Wearability besides that is def versatile it doesn’t call to any specific season, it seems office/uni friendly. Perhaps I wouldn’t wear this one if I wanna dress up or project something else, there’s plenty of others that do a better job. This one is more personal.

Emera1d

Strong, syrupy sweet almond scent, reminds me of a specific dessert, but can't figure out which. I like sweet, but this is a bit too sweet for me. Totally get the Live Irresistible Delicieuse comparisons, but LID is not as sweet and there is less almond in it. If you have one you don't need the other. Less like Poison Girl, which I think is nicer than GoN Shine. I did get a headache wearing it, so definitely try before you buy.

Kuty22

I was convinced my favorite was the original that I only bought a 50ml of this beauty, truth is, I prefer this flanker 😭

yeesa_

Very similar to the original but more synthetic smelling. I dont like it its nauseating

AuthenticAF

I really wanted to love but it does not smell good on my skin. Something is just off. It may be the almond that i cant do in any of the girl of now perfumes.
Gave to daughter

missmaowens

When I first smelled this it was too sweet, cloying even. When I gave it a chance and wore it I grew to really like it. If you like The Only One Intense you will like this. It's very similar to that perfume...projection is beast mode as well as longevity... very almond heavy but I love it!

sugahuni

Lovely, strong, musky scent.Radiates beautifully.Lasts wells, smells fantastic 😍🤩

عطر جميل جدا وثباته عالي وللاسف محد يعرفه

SmeagolsSister

Too sweet, but not in the way I like...

I really wanted to like this with the pineapple, orange blossom, jasmine, and vanilla notes, but I just can't get past the wanted to like this pistachio and pear top notes, and the iris bottom notes. I think I'm not a big fan of pistachio as a scent, or floral scents as bottom notes. This just smells too sweet, but not in the berry or gourmand ways I want to smell sweet. It also just gives me a headache and is too strong for being so sweet.

Chapi

I wonder why I have this viceral aversion to allthe Girl of Now perfumes. There's this sweet sourness, might be the pear. I'm sure the pineapple too.

Sand1984918

Not groundbreaking but I like it. The original one smells better as per my taste. I love the pineapple note and the fruity character of this. worth the penny

Carolinefragrance

Lovely but for me not necessary. Girl of now is a great love and Shine has the added pineapple which is very nice and makes it sweeter but not original - like the original 😊. About five hours longevity on my skin. Still I like it very much but will not repurchase.

redberrykitty

I used a (only 1 ml) tester of this yesterday. I don't think I could even smell it when I walked out the door, and I used the ENTIRE sample. Maybe the weather had something to do with it -- it was hot and humid of course -- but I couldn't really smell this. Even when I sprayed it on paper when I received it, I was straining to smell something.

But when I was able to smell something, it was a delicious pineapple upside down cake! I thought it would work in the heat because of the pineapple, like it would be a good Summer gourmand, but I was disappointed... And that's all I really have to say. I really want to try the original because it looks like it's right up my alley.

Love it smell expensive I think reminds me of poison girl edt .

Ashmoore84_1

This flanker is quite sweet and powdery, it needs some more pineapple and maybe add some other citrus, like bergamot to balance it out. I decluttered this one.

Healthy scents

Similar DNA to the OG, just another gorgeous nutty gourmand scent. Very beautiful and a compliment getter.

Tinabill

Almond cookies 🍪!
GoNS takes off with a fresh, tart fruity start (my nose registers citrus more so than pineapple). The heart notes smell like you stepped into a kitchen where almond cookies were recently pulled out of the oven. They are still warm, melt in your mouth and feel so creamy rather than crunchy, very sweet, with a good dose of vanilla and are just delicious. This phase lasts the longest on my skin. I get occasional whiffs of orange blossom as well.
The dry down feels somewhat woodsy (probably the patchouli) but I don’t get the iris. The sweet almond vanilla accord lasts but is softer towards the end which is after about 8- 9 hours, and the projection is very good at least for the first 4 hours.
I prefer it for autumn and winter, as it is too sweet for hot weather.

strawberrystar

I love this! I also love the original.
I really do smell the pineapple, which makes Shine identical to the original but with a sour/fresh twist. Really nice!
The longevity of the original is not really amazing on me, this one is actually better. But I am happy to have both!

D0LLFACE

I’ve been alternating this and Oscar de la Renta’s Alibi for the summer. It’s so hot where I am that I have to be carful with scents. Well I love this one! If this is indeed discontinued, I’m gonna be sad. It’s just a sexy come hither scent to me. I haven’t tried the original so maybe I should, but I love the Shine. First got a sample on Fragrance Net, then bought the full bottle. The pineapple pistachio mix is divine! Please don’t discontinue this Ellie Saab!

SummerRose

Very similar to the original, Girl of Now. Shine is a bit fruiter with a prominent pineapple note, which I love. Initially, I thought I didn't need it in my collection because of the similarity but I discovered it was being discontinued and I was able to get it for a good price so I bought it.

Which do I prefer? I love them both. I think the original has better performance, it is sexier with the heavy dose of almond, pistachio and tonka which makes it more cozy so more suitable for autumn and winter. While Shine, is a bit more upbeat and cheerful could be for autumn and spring, maybe a bit too heavy for summer. I think you should go with whichever you feel is maybe better for you base on how you feel and where you live.. Do you need both? Maybe not.

Although, to my nose they are very similar, I notice that my husband ALWAYS give me a compliment whenever I wear the original. Maybe because it projects a bit more or like he says I smell like one of his favourite pastries 😃

They are both amazing.

Connie74

I heard Girl of Now Shine is the favorite flanker and it is discontinued. What a shame. It's beautiful. I tried it at an airport fragrance store a few months ago. It's a powerhouse! It's grape candy sweet & seductive. I don't need it though. When I sprayed my wrist with it, I thought hey....I know this scent. I have Zara Violet Blossom which is almost and exact dupe. I would say it's at least 90% spot on.

lydlid

I got a sample of this from fragrancenet and maybe it's off or something but all I can smell is a Mr. Sketch marker. I'm not getting any of what people describe literally all I can smell is a Mr. Sketch marker. I guess it just smells super synthetic and harsh. No pineapple or almond it's just harsh and screechy.

Catmo

This is what you would get if you combined Olympea with Poison Girl and then added a bit of pineapple.
It really does smell like there is Amber in here. Love it!

KylieBooFace

This smells really good out of the bottle, bit something doesn't seem to mesh right with my skin chemistry. Pity!

ETA: After I wash it off, the lingering scent smells better. Again, this would work on someone whose chemistry would be better for it.

Kalexander1710

This is very similar to the original, but I don't feel that it smells better than the original. The almondy-cookie vibe is most prominent. I had a small decant so I could test it and decide whether or not I might like the original. I ended up finding a good deal on a full size bottle of the OG while waiting for this decant to arrive from Scentbox. If you're in the same boat as I was, I would say give this one a go because it's been on their list of scents for a while. And if you like that almond cookie sort of note, just go for the original because its just better than this one.

tessvdz

The dry down of this is veeerrryyy similar to poison girl ;)

sweet creamy almondy goodness

MaxieF

I love the original and I now love this as well. This is scandal by night without the honey which makes me sooo happy cause the honey was why i decluttered it. Love it so much! Sweet sweet sweet. Opening is sweeter then the original but while still being very similar. Shine is more shampoo like but barely. I don't detect pineapple but I do still get that pistachio and almonds. There is something sharp in it that almost smells like boozy like vodka but it's so faint it barely there. And it a beast!! Just get it!!!

Melaniesherriff

This is nice. It reminds me of kim k honey just lasts alot longer and has better silage. I dont smell the pineapple in the notes. Very sweet rich fragrance

LivsAnne

I am obsessed with this especially when it’s first sprayed, the dry down is not nearly as sweet but still great for day to day use in the warmer seasons

terigurl

I love this one. Its sweet pineapple, almond, creamy vanilla, floral, powdery from the iris, some citrus too. It's soft yet noticeable. Long lasting and has gotten me compliments. I also have GON the OG and I have sprayed them side by side and I think I prefer Shine. They smell very similar but shine has that fruit note in the opening and is sweeter on my skin. Unless you're a collector I don't think you'll need both. I look forward to wearing this during spring and perhaps summer nights. Might be work friendly if not over-sprayed.

Update: It's very rare that I wear a fragrance on repeat but I am literally obsessed with this perfume. It's sooo soft and creamy, yet fruity, yet yummy. Def a favorite in my collection. I just ordered GON Forever. Can't wait to see how that one smells like.

mychinarose

I've owned Shine for a while but haven't really worn it because I ordered it by accident (I thought I was getting the original Girl of Now). I love the idea of this perfume, the notes sound delectable...but initially sniffing it from the bottle felt completely overwhelmingly sweet, and I knew that it would give me a total headache if I tried to wear it in overly warm weather (and I live in Texas, so yeah good luck with that!). However, I decided to try this today since a) it's Spring and the notes sound like a fruit salad and b) it's only low to mid 80's today, which to me is actually mild, so my chances of overheating are pretty low. Fortunately, Shine has performed really well today. Although it is sweet, it feels very similar to Dolce Garden. While they are definitely not dupes they are sisters. Just now, I decided to layer on Laura Mercier Eau Gourmand Vanille, which also has a similar feel (smells like vanilla buttercream icing) and it was a good call.

jbsherry

I have a sample of this and I find this to be somewhat similar to Hypnotic Poison- I am wearing both side by side currently. The main differences are that GON Shine opens with pineapple, which makes it brighter, sweeter, and fruitier than HP. I get some suntan lotion vibes, which I generally dislike. Feels synthetic to me.

I like it, but I find it a bit too sweet/cloying for regular use. I have recently gotten into almond as a note and do enjoy the rich nuttiness. Coupled with the other sweet notes I think it’s a bit much for me, but I find it bright and fun. If you like almonds and sweet notes then look no further. It reminds me of sunshine, so the name suits it well.
I feel that this projects better than HP which was surprising.

Update: I find it very synthetic. HP by contrast does not feel synthetic, so will get my almond fix there.

realitygreene

I have honestly been a little nervous to test this fragrance out because I have heard it smells like pineapple upside down cake. I love pineapple upside down cake, but as a fragrance, I wasn't too sure about it. I pictured a heavy, decadent scent and honestly that's just not my thing in fragrance. Even if I find a scent like that to smell good, I don't necessarily want to smell like that. I was also a bit skeptical of the bitter almond note - I am not a fan of almond as a fragrance note usually.

I decided to try Girl of Now Shine this morning because it just felt like the right moment. 😂😌 Immediately, I really liked it! I could smell the pineapple, the pistachio, mandarin, and a bit of the floral notes as well. But, the pineapple note was really the star! It wasn't super juicy and fresh like how I usually like pineapple, I definitely could smell the "cake" or gourmand aspect of this fragrance, but surprisingly it wasn't heavy or cloying at all! Don't get me wrong, this isn't a freshie or anything, because the pistachio and almond really do make GON Shine smell decadent, but the other notes balance it out. Mostly the pear, mandarin, and florals. The almond note wasn't as scary as I thought, it's not super super strong, but it does work here.

After spraying 2 or 3 times and realizing that this wasn't heavy like I suspected I decided to overspray because I liked it so much! I may have used up almost all of my sample 😅, but I don't regret it. The projection of this fragrance is really great - granted, it could be the almost 10 sprays I used, but still. I can tell this fragrance is great for lasting and projection.

I am going to add Girl of Now Shine to my "I would buy it on a good deal" wish list. I would pay about $40-$50 for 50 ml (100 ml would be even better!), but I don't think this fragrance is a top priority to me. It's one I would want to reach for occasionally and it smells wonderful objectively, but I have a pretty limited fragrance budget and I don't think Girl of Now Shine is quite top tier for me. Sometimes that just happens!

edit: So it's about 7 hours after application and this fragrance is still so strong! I mostly get vanilla, almond, and some white florals. But, I swear the pineapple is still detectable. This is amazing! I might have to add it to my normal wish list.

lisuca

This is straight up pineapple upside down cake on me!
It’s very strong and I can’t wear it too close to my face or it gets a bit sickening.
All in all, I DO like this a lot!
I’m sorry if I don’t explain the perfume note by note but I really don’t know what they smell like!
Also, I’m in the Hamilton, Ontario area and if anyone has a bottle of the OG Girl of Now they want to sell, let me know!

laceylovesperfume

I hate to jump on the band wagon but this does definitely give Poison Girl vibes, along with a bit of Prada Candy. It's very powdery, and has a dry down similar to Dr. Pepper to my nose. Honestly I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped to be, for some reason this reminds me of fragrances I've bought from the dupe house "Dapper." Not great, not horrible. But not something I would consider groundbreaking. I can see why some enjoy it though. Patchouli is not as detectable as the OG nor is it as predominantly "nutty."

mariakok

I have both Girl of Now and Shine and I can say I like shine better. The original GON is sweet almondy but not as gourmand or heavy as reviews mention for me, it’s sweet but linear. Shine is definitely juicier, it has more dimension as you get the almond/marzipan notes but also zesty pineapple. Love them both but shine makes me happy!

Carpe Noctem

I've got two samples of each, so I'm wearing Girl of Now, Shine on my left arm, and Le Parfum Essential on my right arm. Right away I knew I like Shine better. Le Parfum Ess. has a very plastic, fake quality to it. Even after 1-2 hours, it doesn't smell too good and smells like muted flowers.

Girl of Now Shine is gorgeous! It's so smooth and creamy; must be the almond? I will be happy to buy a full bottle of this. I think it's the pistachios, almonds and pineapple that make this so different and beautiful.

Brooke1988

I have and love the original Girl of Now and recently purchased a sample of GON Shine. The opening is overwhelmingly synthetic and sweet. The mid and dry-down are where I start to really love this fragrance because it starts to emit the same rich, sweet, cozy DNA as the original GON. In the dry-down this becomes more similar to the original, but slightly softer and sweeter. After 10-15 minutes of wear, I'm not sure that I need both in my collection.

Cali_K

I enjoy the opening but the dry down on my skin turns to play dough. Others have suggested it's from the almond which may be true, hypnotic poison has the same problem for me.

strongerwithglue

I like the original better. Shine has a cough syrup vibe to me. It's more floral, and less warm, less cozy than the original. The pineapple is unripe. I like florals but I don't like how they, and the pineapple, are mixing with the almond here.

mayaree

I'm really bad at picking out the different notes in a perfume, so I won't even attempt.
GoN Shine opens bright and sparkly, and there is a prominent sugary sweetness enveloping the entire smell that radiates warmth. Not sure if it's the patchouli or the bitter almond that grounds it down, but it keeps the fragrance contrasted enough. To my nose, it is quite a unique smell, albeit adolescent. The golden bottle captures Shine perfectly– I associate her with blissful summer days spent doing all sorts of leisure activity. Shine is more of a juvenile scent rather than a mature one. A spring and summer decadence, even though like most gourmand she's probably intended for the colder weather. She can easily be cloying and heavy, and not everyone is going to be appreciative.
She has never gotten me any compliments though, but I know she has her audience.

virna.medina

I wanted to like this as i dont really like the OG. But boy oh boy… i was wrong. This makes the OG superior. I dont get the pineapple, only the bitter almond, white flowers and major patchouli. Not sweet but very cloying.

b4byyv4mpp

this perfume is amazing. the first time i used it i genuinely thought it had no wow factor. i wasnt impressed it was just a regular gourmand floriental. but oh my god now i am addicted to it. i left my office room to go to the pantry and then whenn i came back, WOW the sillage was ridiculously strong and it smelled soo good like almond honey blossoms. would really recommend to anyone. this is not a sickeningly sweet almond perfume to me, its a more floral-oriental scent with an almond based smell. currently i like mixing this up with Ariana Grande's Cloud. they both complement each other well. cloud brings out the sweetness in GONS and GONS adds a sophiscticated and elegant weight to Cloud's airiness. 100% GONS will be my signature scent now.

Algee

It's so far from what I thought. It has an edible cherry nutty creamy amaretto vibe. I get that familiar cola blast probably from the almonds and pineapple the citrus will fade to a nice nutty scent trail.

A Little Perfume

Testing notes: There's something about the opening of this fragrance that just doesn't agree with me. It's a shame, because the dry down is very pleasant. But the opening lasts a good while and I find it to be oddly tangly and almost sour, something I found both on the blotter and on my skin. I suspect it might be the pineapple that I don't like, as tropical fruit notes are hit or miss for me.

I'm going to shelve this sample to try again in summer, because I wonder if the heat might help the pineapple and ylang ylang come out in a more appealing way. I'm definitely keen to try the OG now, because it has the almond (which I love) but not the pineapple or ylang ylang. That might be a better option for my tastes.

Malleable

I love the original and bought this flanker because I'm a sucker for pineapple. Shine is definitely a bit sweeter and fruitier. The pineapple in the opening is nice if a bit synthetic. Then dries down to more of a creamy nutty almond scent. I think I prefer the original just a bit more but this one is very nice as well.

Szilvita

I first got the original in a tiny dabbing kind of bottle. I liked it. Nice nutty sweet scent. I generally seem to like Elie Saab perfumes, so I got curious about the GON flankers.

I actually just bought Shine for the sake of buying, craving something new in my collection since I love trying new perfumes and changing scents everyday. I kinda felt silly afterwards 🙈and feared that shine would be too similar or almost the same as the original, but I'm positively surprised.

Similar? Yes.. Redundant? No!
I actually like this better because the fruity/floral twist makes it stand out more than the original which reminds me of several other sweet perfumes I have, due to i. e. the tonka.

The original is more linear. This gives me whifts of some freshness.

My mom and friend are normally not very fond of my sweet perfumes, but they both really like this one.

Veeery long lasting and great sillage with only a spritz or two....after a whole work day, my mom thought I had just sprayed it on. Haha.

Decarabats

I adore this. The only way this could possibly be better for me is if there was a cherry note, possibly cocoa and milk instead of straight up vanilla. I'd like to smell like spumoni, please.

Faela

I can't stand this perfume! It was a blind buy based on reviews and I regret buying this flower bomb! It just smells like straight up florals which I DESPISE!!!!!!. I thought that I would be getting something nice like Comptoir Du Sud Pacifique Vanille Extreme or Montale Vanilla Cake or something along those beautiful gourmand lines but this smells too patchouli and floral! I can't deal with it! Does anyone want to trade??? My bottle is 50ml and full. I sprayed it 3 times trying to see if there was any hope in it but there clearly is not. It's just not my cup of tea. Send me a message if you want to trade, [email protected]

fmangion

I own both the original GON and Shine. I love GON but was so disappointed that it doesn't last on me at all. I decided to give GON Shine a chance I had seen a lot of reviews saying this had better lasting power and I am so glad I did. You get the original GON DNA but I find this is a bit sweeter and brighter. I got loads of compliments since I started wearing it. Love love love so happy I decided to give this a try!

victoriabarretta

I ordered this as a sample for fun. I already owned GON and was interested in comparing. I love GON but live in Florida and it’s far too hot to wear most of the time.

At first sniff I thought ‘wow this is too much like the original’. And put it away.

A few days later I sprayed GON on one wrist and Shine on the other. I was surprised to find they were actually more different than I thought, but that GON pistachio almond dna is so detectable it’s too easy to overlook how great this one is.

It’s still quite heavy for summer in FL if I were to be outside but it’s floral and fruity and is a great option for a GON fix year round!

Don’t overlook this one if you love GON!

I’ve found many summer perfumes hardly last but this one is a beast and I’m excited to have a fruity tropical scent that actually develops and hangs around!

This dries down kind of like The Only One, a mild gourmand with powdery and sweet elements, but still sort of airy and clean. It’s a love!

keithscents

Initial spray is very similar to Dior Poison Girl (which is my favorite). After a few seconds, you can definitely smell the pineapple note. Dry down - that's when the almond gets very noticeable. It's really a beautiful scent for me. It lasts very long - almost 8 hrs on skin and days on clothes. The projection and sillage is also very good. It smells very yummy but not overpowering.

Rating this 8/10

Tt777

This is what I hoped girl of now would smell like. It’s bright, creamy, sweet and fruity. Something about the og was a bit too heavy for me and too syrupy. This flanker is lighter and brighter to my nose but still creamy and warm. I find it to be more gourmand than the og as i smell less patchouli here. If the og was too string and heavy for you, I recommend you test this one out:)

unicajiha_01

The opening is nauseating and gives me headache. I only love the drydown.

LSAUG

This is alright not bad but it's not a very good almond scent. If you want a sweet, almond floral perfume that smells really good try what I am wearing today Beautiful Belle Love. There are still some bottles out there to be had since it has been discontinued.

To add a bit more to why it smells just ok, it turns to a kind of a pistachio ice cream smell. If you like pistachio ice cream (I'm not a fan) then this is the perfume for you.

hipwhimsy

smells like cheap vs/bath and body works body mist mixed with sweaty gym locker sneakers

Cess268

This one is really nice as well. The opening is fruity & fresher than the OG. But there is something with the dry down that isn't to my liking. You really don't need both so I gave this one to my daughter she loves it, and I am ordering myself a full bottle of OG. Lasting power is top notch as with the OG, and I would wear this on a cuddle night or casual outing with friends. I wouldn't wear to the work place. This entire Elie Saab line is really great 👍👍👍
Update 10/19/21: STILL a LOVE for me just word of advice.. I wouldn't go over 3 sprays and avoid the chest area, because this baby is STRONG!!! If you go over that and can become a bit cloying. IMO

Lalouve<3

Pineapple?pistachio ?really? On my skin this is a sharp bubblegum perfume with an almondy twist. It is beautiful,it projects and lasts so no complaints here - you just have to be in the mood for it because it is quite a special gourmand, it isn't elegant, it is a bit in your face with its sharp gourmand aspect.

Wiktoriaaaz

Absolutely love the original and wanted to have both. It’s true, you don’t need both. The base DNA is exact, however this leans more fruity, original leans floral - the orange blossom is quite prominent in it. This is dominated with the sweet syrupy nuttiness accompanied by some juicy pineapple. It’s really lovely, but you must be able to handle SWEEEEEET

MrAbbas

I have to admit that I miss judged it based on its marzipan like opening (which I hated). This perfume develops to become a delicious smelling desert on my skin, like a creamy gelato or some creamy desert. It is sexy and I love it (just not the almond note in the beginning). Performs great and can be found for great prices online. Thumbs up.

soumayaela

This is addictive! The more you wear it the more you like it!
Nutty creamy powdery sweet Mmmm 🤤🤤🤤
In my top 5 foreveeeeer

gtabasso

loved the juicy top that registers like tart raspberry or blackberry then not as much as it dried down to a sweet fruitchouli that is really about the orange blossom and patch; no pineapple detected, mostly orange blossom, patchouli, ylang, a little almond and pear; about six hours later there is a faint almost cocoa scent on my skin like the remains of a lotion.

rocsta6

I hate this so much. I love the original girl of now and girl of now forever even more but this one just doesn't sit right with me.

RSB28

This perfume is stunninggggg in the autumn and spring, I smell edible and want to eat myself. Don’t think this is quite strong enough for extreme cold and is too sweet for summer. Powdery and nutty, but syrupy, evokes the image of baklava, but without the thick cloying aspect.

Ashmoore84_1

Omg!! I hate this. Sorry not sorry! To me, it smells horrible. It's syrupy sweet -- and there's not nearly enough pineapple, freshness, or citrus to balance it out. There is also a medicinal cherry note that's probably coming from the almond, which smells awful and strong to my nose. At first spray, I thought maybe this is going to smell similar to L'Interdit, and be heavy on the tuberose, but then the nuttiness develops and completely ruins this fragrance. This is a vanilla sugar bomb, for a teenager. If anyone is in love with this perfume, dm me! I have a 99% full 30ML NBIB. And will be happy to get it off my hands.

GabrielleeeeeW

Very similar to the original Girl of Now. I love that one but having both is unnecessary. The biggest difference here is a pineapple note added to the opening. Otherwise it's a almondy, almost boozy, sweet scent that is great for layering. I find Shine projects a little less. It is great for any season! Girl of Now Forever is in a completely different direction from these two, it smells of raspberry lemonade.

sophiesmystery

I bought this by accident...and ended up really liking it. I wasn't paying attention at checkout when I ordered this (it looks nearly identical to the OG Girl of Now), and didn't realize it until the package showed up at my door and I opened it to see my mistake. Reading the notes, I thought I was going to hate this but this is actually really good?! It's a softly sweet, fruity gourmand with a nice acidic, pineapple undertone. Not childlike at all. I saw some of the "similar to" fragrances mentioned Sol de Janeiro, which is interesting as I have such a love-hate relationship with their Cheirosa scent. This is what I imagined and hoped that the Bum Bum cream would smell like. Unfortunately, Cheirosa '62 is an overhyped, generic vanilla-caramel-musk that does nothing for me...I wanted it to be more exotic. It's slightly powdery as well, I am assuming from the almond. Fresh out of the box it smells really generic, but once it settles into the skin, it has a beautiful nut and fruit aroma, like halva.

Carol.K

Smells like a nutty vanilla ice cream especially the dry down. Very gourmand to me. The sweetness is not cloying. Lasts longer on my clothes. More of a close encounter scent, which I don't mind. I really like this one, can't stop sniffing myself.

Dr_Cece

I got my bottle today. The juice is deep orange, unlike the pictures. Is that normal or expired? The combo of pineapple and pistachio is a fail for me... Smells like a dirty public restroom. Again, maybe the bottle I got is expired.

berat1993

This smells like vanilla pistachio icecream . I wish it could be more projective , on my skin it lasts around 5 h , but is not dominant after 1 hour it radiates in arm lengths, it melts on my skin leaving a creamy gourmand taste . Almonds ,pistachio, jasmine and vanilla stay persistent in an intimate way(on skin, clothes) . Again i wish it could be more long lasting

adrianaiyo

It opens with a mix of vanilla, ylang-ylang, almond and some fruity smell.
The pineapple is pretty obvious and its sourness gives a zest to the very warm opening.
The jasmine slowly releases and gets more prominent when time passes.

VictoriaSmells

Aw man... I erroneously got this flanker instead of the original and it's sickenly sweet to me. I thought I'd like the sweet almond and pistachio in the original. But this addition of synthetic pear and pineapple turns it into syrup.
And this is coming from someone who wore a ton of Pink Sugar in college.

Without reading the description, my first impression was concentrated cotton candy syrup that you would use to flavor a snow cone. On that note, I'm surprised more people didn't vote it as a summer fragrance because it does have the smell of sticky, sugary festival snacks; candied nuts, caramel popcorn, peanut brittle, candy apples etc...

I was hoping the iris and the patchouli would reel in all this syrup, but it hasn't happened yet, at least not on my skin.
I also ordered a sample off of a (reputable) seller on ebay, but the juice was like a bright, hi-lighter orange and nearly stained my skin! Is it supposed to be that orange? WOW!

I'm hoping the original isn't as saccharine. Fingers crossed.

StinkyTinky

Welp, smells like the original to me. Which I love, don’t get me wrong. But doesn’t warrant buying another bottle when I still have the OG 3/4 full...
Maybe once my current stash of it dwindles, I’ll grab this one next
Every gourmand lover needs a girl of now in their collection...

ninapall

I love how sweet and fruity this perfume is! It definitely satisfies my sweet tooth on a lovely summer’s day. I think I would get most wear our out of this between April-August but it’s not overly obvious that this has pineapple notes (just a generic syrupy tropical fruit sort of scent) and could still be worn year round if you chose it as your signature scent. It almost smells a bit like a lovely summery body lotion sort of scent, but not the childish kind. In my opinion, it’s definitely one everyone should try, and I much prefer it to the original GoN!

Kellergirl

I don't smell fruit, almonds, or nutty. Generic sweet smell. Nothing special.

Bubbles1964

My best friend loves Girl of Now, and wears it regularly. I admit it works on her even though it was god awful on me.

After one short spray I immediately know; unfortunately, I really dislike this flanker too.

Synthetic almond, pineapple and pistachio (but really it could be anything! I had to read what’s in this bottle here on Fragrantica). Shine is tooth achingly sweet, and a hot mess—a scent that wears me out.

chillyfeet

Definitely have to be in a certain mood to wear this. The pineapple is very prominent on my skin for an hour or so and then the ylang-ylang comes through really well - and the pistachio is there from start to finish. Love it.

The pineapple is quite strong and I get where people are coming from about it being a touch synthetic...For anyone who loves the fragrance apart from the pineapple - get the Girl of Now version.

This is (for me) a perfume to wear when I'm in a good mood and it's going to be a lovely day. The juicy top notes have a really lifting optimism in them and then the dry down notes that come through are so warm and comforting... It's the smell of an exciting, perfect day.

Better still, as this lasts a fair few hours, it's nice on the second spray. You have the middle notes from your first spray and then the top notes from your second.

Narciso Rodriguez Ambree's more energetic, younger cousin in perfume form.

ceeceelee

Fanntonyoscar, the review below mine. I'm sorry, that's such a bummer when we like something so much, then it turns around and bites us. My sister has the same problem with ylang ylang.
I love the Original and this one too. This one has better projection on me, though. I think it's the pineapple. Love the bottles. Love them. But the nutty juice inside is so creamy, heavy and powerful you really need to be in the mood to wear them. I just don't think they're a safe blind buy, even if you love almond or everything nutty, like I do, bc of the strength of the juice. Now Shine? Yuck, on me anyway, so I wont even go there except to say I love the bottle ~ that's the only reason it's not on Ebay right now, lol.

fanntonyoscar

As lovely as this smells, it contains ylang-ylang which is headache inducing for me. I always know what I’m in for when I detect that sweet honeysuckle-like aroma... at least a few hours in my pitch black bedroom with a throbbing migraine. For those who aren’t migraine sufferers, I’m incredibly jealous!

newbiefragrancelover

So I just got this beautiful girl in the mail today and I must say she's a keeper! I don't have the OG version but if she's anything like this I need to have her. I don't particularly get the pineapple note that everyone talks about but I definitely get the nuttiness in this frag. I also smell the pistachio note very strong on my skin. I will have to have the original now for sure.

ezpz

I really dislike the synthetic pineapple (think that's the note) at the top of this, buy I am loving the drydown.

The opening just really reminds me of pineapple flavored jelly beans which I do not care for, mixed with play dough (the almond I'm assuming).

But that wore off in about 30 minutes and the dry down just keeps getting better...it's dry and sweet, warm and nutty. It really reminds me of home...specifically my aunt's house who passed recently. I may buy this just for the scent memory.

It's cozy, sweet, a little dusty and the patchouli is not too strong in this.

Smells like burnt sugared nuts in amaretto rum.
I think this could probably only work in cold weather. To me it’s quite synthetic smelling as well.
There are better smelling almond frags imho.
I don’t dislike it persé, but I’m certainly not thrilled either.

CreamSunshine

I’m starting to realize that perfumes that read “powdery” just do not work for my skin or nose. I tried Girl of Now Shine on my left arm, plus original Girl of Now on my right arm at the same time, and what comes forward on my skin is all powder. Thank goodness it’s not baby-powder scent, at least. GoNS reads kind of citrus-floral-powder on my skin, while original GoN reads almost the same, but maybe more almond-floral-powder.

I think my skin amps powder notes so strongly that nearly no other notes can be detected. It’s probably not even fair for me to keep reviewing powdery fragrances, since my nose doesn’t like them. I generally try to only review fragrances that seemed like they were going to fit the scent profiles I already like. I just wanted to try these two perfumes because they are so popular and it piqued my curiosity.

Charlotterose93

Smells like licorice.. its not great 😕

lillybethholmes

Another blind buy - lockdown has sent me blind buy crazy... this one is confusing me. I really love the fruity opening. It's sweet and bright and interesting. But it fades very quickly leaving a dry down that's a bit...well...dry?? I love almondy scents and this has plenty of that, a touch of powder, vague fruity overtones. It's comforting in a home-baking on a sunny day kinda way. I don't think I have it sussed yet, but I like it.

katheryne_art

To me, this is exactly the same as the original Girl of now but just a little bit more powdery and nutty. I don't think you need both in your collection. I prefer the original one a little bit more.

wookiesen

My first reaction was "sunscreen?" but it really grew on me when i tried it out. The day after i went back and purchased it. It reminds me about the original formulation of indian night jasmine by body shop but so much better! This is some next level sh*t for a jasmine fragrance. This is jasmine and sunshine in a beautiful bottle. It opens up as a little sunscreen smelling scent but quickly dries down to an almond and jasmine fused together with the musk of pistachio and the slight tangyness of pineapple. The pear helps by leveling it all so that it is always on a pleasent level. I do wish it would´ve smelled more of ylang-ylang since that´s one of my favorite smells on earth but alas that might be for the best because it would probably change the fragrance too much. It is incredibly beautiful just the way it is.

I´d say this is user friendly for any occasion and day. Since it is such a sunshine smell it is most suitable for summer and fall. And it works for day and night use, no problem.

oncebitten

I absolutely love the opening - which for me is insanely fruity and nutty - but the dry down is a bit of a generic, powdery vanilla-almond. It's very pretty though, and I'm more than happy to have it in my collection for the price I paid, which I think was somewhere around $45? I don't own the original GON so I'm not able to reference or compare, but if you own and enjoy Black Opium, Bon Bon, or even JS Fancy, this would be a safe bet.

** Update ** I have to amend my previous review, because I am literally reaching for this ALL the time. In subsequent wearings, I'm finding so much more to love about the dry down. It really is so creamy and nutty and comforting. What a fabulous fragrance this is.

chinna

Disappointing, I hate Olympea PR , and Scandal since someone use this in work , and this is too similar... I love the projection and sillage...but there is a little note that I can't enjoy , and Dior eau sensuelle and Poison girl D have it too... Salty and dirty between sweet notes I must say.

Tropicat28

This is my favorite out of the 3. In the beginning it smells very similar to the original. The dry down is more vanilla and powdery while the OG is Orange Blossom prominent all the way through. The OG is thicker and a Diva mode fragrance. Shine is softer. I like it best for spring and fall. I think the dry down is different enough to own both if you don’t mind having fragrances that smell similar. Personally I don’t have a signature scent but I definitely have a signature vibe so I can justify having both. I wear the OG when it’s very cold and shine when it’s a bit warmer but I think it would become cloying in high heat temperatures.

soumayaela

I was dying to buy the original Girl of now because i bought Shine first

I received the original GON today on the mail after i used GON SHINE for a couple of weeks, on me they smell identical, with a little fruity fresh note added in shine, shine is sweeter, lasts and projects longer!
GON original is so weak and watered down i'm sure it was reformulated!!! My sister bought it years ago and it's power house

If you can't decide which one you should get, i advice you to get the shine version, longevity and sillage are better
Buy it now before it gets reformulated !!!

SSBurn

It’s a nice find especially for the EBay prices. I could see this being a daily scent for me. It’s fruitier than nutty. I don’t really smell any pistachio. I really like the opening more than the dry down but nothing major. Drys down with more of the tang from the fruit notes.

star~kitty

This is lovely; very much like the original, but almost sweeter. Clearly it’s fruitier. I wouldn’t have guessed pineapple but since that is listed in the notes, I believe it. I still get the nuttiness but maybe slightly less. All in all a very appealing fragrance.

ScentedTiger

A very vibrant, very sweet scent. The warm yellow color of this fragrance is perfect, as it reflects Girl of Now Shine's uplifting, sunny nature. I'm getting the pineapple for sure; it's a freshly cut juicy pineapple. Here also is a splash of mandarin citrus with an accompaniment from the pear. Sadly, I couldn't really detect the almond, and the pistachio was not there at all for me. The florals at the beginning here are pretty quiet. Girl of Now Shine upon first spray is a super zesty sweet. It's like Spring has just kicked open your front door, holding a chilled cocktail garnished with fruit, shouting "I'm here!," filling the air with a burst of fresh bright sweetness.

Girl of Now Shine is very reminiscent to me at a certain point in its development of Farnesiana by Caron, which launched in 1947. Farnesiana is one of the finest Ur-gourmand scents I have had the pleasure to experience. If you are a gourmand fan, do treat yourself to a decant of the vintage formulation off of The Perfumed Court (etc.) It's an extraordinary fragrance. It has the same depth of creamy sweetness as Girl of Now Shine, but Farnesiana is more powdery- not baby powder, but botanical powdery. Like the scent of sweet pollen in the center of a lily. Farnesiana is Girl of Now Shine's older sophisticated sister. She's an art dealer in Paris, and she sends the best gifts. I have not tried the modern version of Farnesiana if it is still in production, but do have a tiny precious decant of the vintage, and it is pure yummy. Girl of Now Shine recalls its bright, cheerful, frilly, baby chick-yellow charm.

(So Farnesiana *is* still in production, according to the fabulous Fragrantica.)

After about half an hour of wear, Girl of Now Shine loses some of the tartness of the freshly cut pineapple and the mandarin's citrus. Here the floral identities, especially the ylang ylang, come forward. The overall sweetness starts to level off, and Girl of Now Shine mellows and on me starts to become quieter. Here I will mention Farnesiana again, as I am really quite surprised that mimosa is not a note in Girl of Now Shine. What I am detecting at this stage is the yellow florals. I can't identify any vanilla in Girl of Now Shine. It must just be contributing to the overall sweetness.

The dry down is very pleasant, definitely not as sweet, but nice and soft and bright. There is a bit of a soapy, clean note at the end. On me it became a skin scent after about two hours, but has marvelous longevity in this phase. I could detect it for at least eight hours after application.

Girl of Now Shine would be a very good choice for Spring, and it brings to my mind white-gloved hands finding brightly colored eggs within dewy green grass. It also reminds me of the nicest grandma ever, who has just touched up her delicious creamy vintage face powder, washed her hands with that pretty pink soap she orders from Europe and lets you use whenever you want, and has just made a pineapple upside down cake especially for you. But Girl of Now Shine is neither "old" nor "young"- it's just a lovely, soft little scent.

Murmur123123

To me this is a true "gourmand" fragrance. I hardly smell the florals in it. It has a pleasant nutty (mostly almond) and sweet scent, but not cloying or sickening. I like to use it on cold winter nights before bed after I change into my PJs, as it is warm and comforting. It surprised me how much I can appreciate it, given that before this I have never purchased any sweet and non-complex gourmand perfume.

Is this something I want people to smell on me at my workplace? No. But it is something I like having in my collection for using it around the house, especially in the cold months (and especially in lockdown..)

sweetNcozy

to me this kind smells like a fruity root beer or almond macarons. i’m still testing it out but so far i’ve gotten complemented on this scent and when the wind blows it leaves a lovely scent in the air

minnie_minna

Vile. I hate it, makes me feel sick. Too strong and stinks of almond essence.

xxjennieee

This perfume is the one that gets me a lot of compliments.
On me it smells like a sweet dessert made with almonds, honey and a little bit of pear or pineapple. Similar to baklava!
I am detecting some licorice in it though.
Overall this fragrance does remind me of Poison Girl but more softer and sweeter.
It's just a great fragrance for the daytime use during the Fall, Winter and Spring.

soumayaela

I just bought this perfume (blind buy, maybe i should stop at some point 🤣) after hearing so much good things about it

First spray / first impression: it smells exactly like Poison girl edp! Maybe from the orange note associated with almond and vanilla
I smelled the original GON that my sister used to have i remember it smelled similar to this Shine version without the fruity opening

After days of using: i actually like the drydown more than the opening since i don't get any pineapple (maybe a hiiiint of a synthetic something that fades quickly)
I'm glad this version doesn't have any tonka, it was the only thing i didn't like in the GON original

GON shine is very sweet but i like it a lot, it's rich cozy nutty warm and SWEEEEEET luckily it desn't make me sick i enjoy smelling it

I saw some youtubers saying they wear this in summer, but i can never!!! I prefer fresh or floral perfumes in the heat that don't offend anyone around me (it gets really hot and sunny where i live)
But i'm sure i'm gonna crave it in winter and fall (and maybe 2 sprays in spring when i wanna feel sexy)

Edit: the drydown smells almost like the original OGN it's amaaaaazing it smells so sexy and warm and rich

Projects and lasts loooong

I'm soooo happy i bought GON shine, i don't have anything this sweet in my collection

Edit: it's addictive 🤤🤤🤤
My husband loved it too and got me a loooot of compliments

Amelia28

This perfume confuses me. When I smell it in the air or on my skin, I'm not thrilled. It's not distinctive. I'm not in love.
But, for some reason, I reach for this all the time. It's my most worn home scent. An easy reach. It's comforting. Fruity and light enough to be worn year round.

Smonalisa

I smelled it with girl of now the original, and side by side this smells way more synthetic. The pineapple is very prominent in the opening and shine is a lot sweeter than GON original. The pineapple settles to a sweet almond cake.

Twin#1

I blind bought GON shine with out trying the original and let me tell you this scent is amazing!! When you spray it you initially get a pear and synthetic pineapple which I don’t mind. When you let the scent settle on your skin there’s a slight moment of salty goodness from the pistachio. The gourmand dry down smells like a delicious almond cake and it is amazing. My brother loved it and instantly noticed it on me! I sprayed it on my sister and on her skin the pineapple and pear were hard to detect so the GON shine perfume smells more like vanilla with gourmand on her so it depends on your body chemistry because the fruitiness lasts longer in my skin but she prefers the perfume on me:)) I would say it’s a successful blind buy and I’m considering buying the original for my sister because she loves gourmand scents and loves the GON shine on me. Longevity and silage are great and I’d say the fruitiness in the beginning makes it an amazing spring/summer scent and the dry down would be appropriate for winter so perfect for all seasons!

Tessa03

@moonkhaleesi to answer your question, to me, no they don’t smell alike at all. If you are looking for a longer lasting Sol Janeiro Brazilian Crush dupe you should try Roberto Cavalli Gemma di Paradiso. Gemma di Paradiso lasts forever and they smell nearly identical to my nose.

Drent

Not the biggest fan of the pineapple opening, it doesn't bring a fresh/ fruity vibe that I was hoping for, it just smells overly fake to me. However that pineapple quickly passes and the fragrance settles into a beautifully warm, vanilla, creamy, nutty base. Just divine. The almond is strong on this, I sometimes think I smell of marzipan when I catch a quick sniff. I do think I will try the original girl of now as that skips the pineapple.

XimeAlvaradoC

Luckily I didn't blind buy this. I have a decant on this fragrance and it smells like baby powder on me. I want to think that maybe it's the pineapple but I really don't know because I have not smell the original GON. Also I don't find it very tropical, it's just overly sweet with the fake pineapple and the nuttyness gives it a particular warmth. Despite all of this, I don't think that it's a bad fragrance, just because the sillage it's good and longevity wise is great too. It's just that it was sooooo hyped up that I was expecting a really really outstanding fragrance. In conclusion, I like it , don't love it but I will definitely not buy a full bottle.

Joani_Cheddar

So this is Girl of Now with a pineapple note which makes it more fun vs. extremely seductive- so like fun seductive?. The pineapple note makes it sparkle more than give it a tropical scent- It lightens up the heaviness of the original GON. THIS IS MY FAVORITE of the range. This is not an office fragrance, it has heavy silage and lasts a long time. You must like almond fragrances to enjoy - this fragrance could give you a headache. In my opinion, this can be worn on a cooler summer night but best worn in the fall or spring during the night or day.

chelseamurdock

This is so creamy, nutty and sweet on my skin. I’m surprised that “lactonic” isn’t listed as one of the main accords because it has this ultra milky vibe. On my skin, it smells like pure pistachio ice cream. I actually don’t smell a whole lot of pineapple on my skin, which is strange since so many people have pointed out the pineapple note as being very prominent. I’ll chalk this up to skin chemistry. Anyways, the scent is quite gourmand and delicious on me, and the bottle is gorgeous. This perfume also lasts a long time and projects.

CheriLyn

This lasts forever!
I usually spray perfume on my hair cause it stays longer, and I can still smell this perfume even after I washed my hair! 👀 Most perfumes don't last after this.
I can still smell the patchouli, slight vanilla and floral.

SailorV

I was not a fan of the original Girl of Now and I like this flanker better. It's recognizable as a flanker, but not quite as bombastically sweet and almond-focused as its predecessor, it's a more balanced composition.

The main notes are a sweet, creamy almond and vanilla, with the addition of a strong orange blossom to freshen things up. I can smell some fruity top notes, but I don't think that they really smell exactly like pineapple, pear or mandarin. Just a pleasant random fruit mix.
The pistachio note is very briefly noticeable in the opening, but it quickly gets overpowered by almonds. I think the perfume would have benefited from a more pronounced pistachio, which would have made it more original.
The patchouli is very light here, this is not a fruitchouli/sweetchouli kind of scent.

This sometimes pops up in the forum when people ask for fragrances similar to Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. While GON Shine misses the beachy feeling and is a little more generic-perfumey than the scent of that cream, I think that they would go together nicely and share some aspects.
Besides that, the texture of the almond-vanilla base in this also has similarities to Dior Poison Girl to me, although the top and heart are obviously different.
All in all Girl of Now Shine is not exactly innovative and not something I would buy, but it's nice.

edelberry

I wasn't expecting to like this because I despise pineapple with every ounce of my being, but, once I looked past that note, I found it to be rather pleasant. I get quite a bit of the original Girl of Now (which is my signature scent and I absolutely adore) in this flanker, but you'd REALLY have to like pineapple to enjoy this.

Sweet with a nutty twist, definitely more of a summer vibe than a spring–summer one to me – probably because of the pineapple and mandarin combo. I get the feeling I'd feel cold if I wore this during fall where I live (continental Europe), but it may be more versatile if you live somewhere with a warmer fall–winter season, such as LA.

Overall, this was really not for me. However, it may be a safe blind buy for whoever both likes the original Girl of Now and is big on pineapple.

sarahjayne_uk

Sweet / Almond / Vanilla / Long lasting ... maybe a little powdery. Blind buy, really happy I bought! If you enjoy sweet but not sickly, this is for you!

oenomel

On my skin, it smells like sugared pineapple candy with floral notes. It's not bad but definitely not my taste.

smuir

This to me smells exotic, like a mysterious woman walking in the summer rain. Its addictive and perfectly balanced. This was a blind buy from all the good reviews and I couldn't be more impressed. I smell the vanilla and almond, giving it a soft cozy base but the pineapple and orange make it come alive. I think it could be worn all year round.

BunnyWinters

The scent profile on this seemed similar to another fragrance i loved, so i did a blind buy. Big mistake. This scent is very boring, I'm 20 years old and I don't feel like this suits me at all. I'll be regifting it to my aunt this Christmas. I don't smell pineapple, pear or any vanilla at all. It smells very perfumey which i blame on the patchouli. Not worth it. Doesn't even smell similar to the original Girl of Now which i tested and quite enjoyed.

Trang.nnt

Blind bought this perfume because I love the original, and I must say I love this one just as much or even more. It last longer than the original and has great performance. 80% identical with GON but brighter with the pineapple and a little bit sweeter. A compliment getter.

Liserlisa

This was such a good blind buy! Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this for $19.99 at shoppers drug mart. To me this smells like a better version of la vie est Belle and flowerbomb. It's like those two combined with a hint of pineapple. I've always associated pineapple with cheap, sickeningly sweet smells but this is lovely. It goes very well with the pistachio. I do get the pear and Mandarin as well. It's very well blended. I have not made it to the dry down yet but was so excited I had to write a review straight away. Love it!

Ali_hoochthepooch

This one in my opinion is definitely an autumn fragrance. A strong scent with a good lasting power. Smells like a freshly baked almond cake. Very sweet with a lovely vanilla scent. I don't really pick up on the fruitiness as much. Perfect for cozy nights in.

fyetan

Is the opening truly pineapple? I'm not sure. It's not quite sugary enough to be realistic pineapple to me. Neither does it smell like pistachio, though there is a nutty quality. To me it is a sweet, partially fruity/nutty patchouli scent.

On skin, it becomes almond very quickly and stays that way (with white florals for depth) for about two hours, wafting up now and then in pleasant amounts. Then it becomes predominantly white floral (orange blossom but a sweet one) for the hours 3-6, projection only a few inches from the skin. Hours 6 onwards it is a rich vanilla skin scent. Longevity is great, projection more quiet.

Liked this very much as a blind buy!

anleletran97

Girl of Now Shine is by far my most successful blind buy. This says a lot, because I blind bought over 70 bottles during the past year. Now, before you blind buy this like I did, take notes that I am into gourmand, sweet, heavy, powerbomb perfumes. My favorites are La Vie Est Belle, Flowerbomb Nectar, and Burberry Black, so you probably know that this is not for you if you loathe any of the above scents lol.
Girl of Now Shine is exactly what I’ve been looking for in Poison Girl and Black Opium. I like Black Opium but it always falls flat on my skin, not to mention the longevity is such a shame. I also like Poison Girl, but whenever I wear it, I feel like something is missing - some edges. Then came Girl of Now Shine! The creamy, nutty, sweet quality of Poison Girl plus the bitterness of coffee from Black Opium just create a perfect combination on my skin. And it projects like a bomb!
Oh and, I actually think the names GON Forever and Shine are mixed up. The current Forever has that sparkling and juicy opening and thus should be called Shine, whereas this one is more seductive, sensual and therefore should be kept forever on a woman’s vanity.
My rating: 10/10 (which is very rare)

mevans

I came across the 50ml at Shoppers Drug Mart for $20 today. I went ahead and blind bought it because I'm so in love with the Forever version (which showed up on the $20 shelf a few months back). I almost want to say I love this more but they are quite different so I'm just going to love them both for what they each offer individually. Shine opens with gorgeous creamy, sweet nutty notes. I get some background floral and fruit notes but it's all about the almond and pistachio at the beginning. It is pretty strong at first which is fine by me when it smells this gourmand and beautiful. After a while it tones itself down and is not as loud but you do catch the scent as you move. The mandarin orange emerges at this point as well but it still retains the creamy, nutty notes. Both Shine and Forever are very sweet but Shine leans towards nutty-fruity notes whereas Forever leans towards fruity-floral. Both are absolutely stunning and I did buy lots of backups of both in case they have the short life that flankers often do. Elie Saab would be crazy, not to mention cruel, to discontinue them though.

temo

One word comes to mind. “Yummy”! A well blended fragrance, with no one particular note dominating. If I had to pick out notes without knowing what they were, I would say a hint of something fruity in the opening, perhaps a touch of coconut or almond heartwise, and a buttercream vanilla in the base with orange blossom sprinkled in here & there for good measure. A very sumptuous dessert! Comforting and warming on this cold October day.

Sirila

This is another scent that definitely grows on me as fall is getting colder. I owned it all spring and summed and never really liked it, mostly found it weird and too much on me. But as I said, end of October I suddenly reach for it quite often and smell my wrist exceedingly. It is not my favourite scent by far but it is fun, playful and cute. It does demand chillier weather though in my opinion.

milena.1

Out of the whole GON line, I like this one the best. On my skin it's almonds, pistachio, vanilla, some artificial pineapple, true, but it works for me. I get only the best components of the original without the sickening sweetness. Nothing too mind blowing though.

xLisaaaaaa

Bought this in hopes of a creamier, milder version compared to GON original.
It is the total opposite.
It's way more floral, the tonka bean is gone so the warm vanilla almond milk feel is gone, and the bitter almond remains... The pineapple does feel more like caramel. It is very sharp and loud and very powdery cause of the iris. Why does everyone say it smells creamier and milder i have no idea :D

juniemoon

I was on a strict no buy which I'd been sticking to really well for about four months. But then, I saw this at Shopper's Drug Mart on the 19.99 shelf and my resolve crumbled.

It's quite sweet, I can really smell the almond over the pistachio, which is there, and the vanilla. And even though cherry is not a note, my nose is tricked into thinking there is cherry in there somewhere. Kind of cherry ice cream-like.

This one is no powerhouse, but very pretty. I don't mind respraying since I'm an unapologetic oversprayer anyway. And the bottle is gorgeous. I consider this a successful blind buy.

Back on the no buy bandwagon again, I swear, lol!

Mel8

Smells terrible on me exactly like baby powder 🤦🏻♀️ And I accidentally bought 2 one 50 ml and one 100 ml...

Scentflower

I tried a decant of this after owning and loving girl of now. Things are really different for me when it comes to this perfume. I was so excited about an added pineapple note. Sadly this is a fail for me. The added pineapple is a synthetic pineapple that reminds me of a diluted pineapple air freshener. It actually makes me feel a little sick. I'll stick to the original and so delicious Girl of Now

Amberdunn

If you have this baby you might not need a few other popular perfumes. The pineapple does transform into a caramel like note(there's no caramel in this). It smells beautiful. The first girl of now is amazing but this for me is calmer and creamier. My daughter sneezes with the original..potent orange blossom. It lasts all day long. I sometimes wear it to bed. I can't wear the original to bed, too strong... But I still own both. Try it.

little_red_corvette

I adore this! I own this one and the original. Both are very good and they are quite similar. But the Shine version just has this sweeter tone to it. it is more smooth, probably because of the vanilla. The original has more of an amaretto vibe to it, the Shine version smells more like a creamy dessert. I love both, but Shine is my favorite! Lasting power and projection are average+

LawmaLlama

I keep trying this, but it is like I've shoved my nose into a clean diaper sprinkled with baby powder and inhaled. It's the strong smell of baby wipes and clean diapers. Why?????

Sreza7

I like this better than the og girl of now. The pineapple note helps balance out the sweetness, but this is very sweet. They both remind me of La Vie Est Belle with less patchouli. Super sweet. Girl of Now is just too sweet and cloying IMO, that orange blossom so sooooooo intense it gives me a headache. I will stick with shine.

surirohayu

Just received the parcel today. One spray. Only 1 spray. And 15mins later i go to the class to teach. It fills the room. Even student at the back complimented this perfume on me.
It smells so delicious. The pineapple note is strong in the opening. Then it dries down wth prominent almond and vanilla note. Similar to the original girl of now. But imho this shine can be used in hot weather compared the other one. Just be careful not to overspray.

Amberdunn

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL scent, but performance is not good at all. It is not a cheap perfume so I wish it would be somewhat improved... So girl of now forever is however a different story. It has great longevity....

qofb

I tried this in store only, so it was a very limited experience to base a detailed review on. Also, I don't know whether it was just the bottle in store, but the sprayer just came out in a stream, it definitely wasn't a good atomiser.

I have just spent a few minutes reading the reviews and I am struck by the fact that everyone seem to smell something totally different! Guess I am no exception! Initial spray for me was pineapple, but with a heavy background, not sparkling and light pineapple, more like a pineapple cake. I couldn't discern which of the notes was making it heavy: vanilla, ylang ylang, patchouli, jasmine, not sure... I think maybe the ylang ylang in the main.

The dry down is almond-pistachio-vanilla, but mainly vanilla, tempered with the ylang ylang and jasmine. There's a background scent of orange blossom and patchouli, but it is super light. The iris lends a powdery note that appears later and only with a long sniff!

Good projection for a few hours but faded to skin after that, still very detectable in wafts though, just not the pulsating beast that it had been. It was on the cusp of giving me a headache for the first few hours. This fragrance feels mature, I'm 36 and I'm not sure that I feel like I could pull this off. I like it, the scent is interesting in its dry down for sure, but I don't love it and wouldn't buy it.

April338

Grapey orange blossom that dries down to a marshmallowy vanilla scent. Sadly on my skin it disappears in about an hour. If you like sweet scents and orange blossom you will definitely enjoy this fragrance. The fragrance has good projection and depending on your skin I’ve heard it has good longevity as well.

Blushpinkpeonies

This smells like a delicious pineapple upside-down cake, or like pineapple marzipan. So yummy! For some reason (maybe the ylang ylang?) it smells better in the bottle than it does on my skin, yet I really like this Shine flanker. It retains a lot of Girl of Now, but it’s brighter and fresher. Adds a little something extra in my opinion. Pleasant, sweet, and a compliment-getter. If you like original Girl of Now, definitely try this one too.

Vanessasif1027

Really wanted to like this after reading all the positive reviews but this smelled horrible on me. Smells like some sort of medicine even after I let it sit. Overall just gave me a headache I had to return it

ky4r4

Another masterpiece from the Elie Saab house. This scent is the perfect summer gourmand. Think about a cold almond and pistachio ice cream beside a pineapple cake just baked. I am deeply in love with the original GON that is the perfume that I keep wearing more often in my collection, together with Scandal by night. However, I found the roasted pistachio and the cashmeran notes not fully appropriated for summer, since kind of out of tone with the heat, so I decided to buy this flanker. It is an excellent summer alternative for the GON lovers. They may be “redundant” since sharing the same DNA but if you love GON and can’t wear it in summer, just go for this. Basically, they share the same oriental-gourmand vibe, with the orange blossom patchouli combo that is the signature of the house and the almond/pistachio/tonka that define GON. However, the pistachio and almond are towed down and look more like an ice cream nuttiness rather than the roasted nuts of the original version. The cashmeran is gone that is a remarkable improvement for holding the heat, since in my opinion it disagrees with sweety skin. Finally, there is the pineapple note that refreshes everything since the beginning to almost all the evolution (6-8 hours in the skin, not disappearing in clothes). The dry down (9+ hours) is quite the same in the skin but different in clothes where woody cashmeran vs. pineapple stay and make the difference. I think that the original lasts maybe better, but don’t get me wrong, they are both beasts, we are comparing something like 8-9 hours against 10 hours in skin and days in clothes. The pineapple kicks out the fragrance more than the original improving the sillage. You can definitely smell it a couple of meters away and get compliments. I do believe that GON, GON shine and Scandal by Night make together a wonderful signature team, covering wither, summer, and day/night. If you love GON and Scandal by Night you are definitely going to fall for this too.

egb123

i am obsessed with this fragrance. i first smelled it in store and took it home and just put the tester strip in my room on the side and the whole room smelt of it for hours and hours! lots of almond pistachio marzipan vibes. definitely a gourmand, very sweet. i love!!!

Bussie

I must say this a very warm, candy-sweet and heavy fragrance. I prefer to wear it on cold winter days. Very long-lasting too.

perfumeaddict97

This perfume is amazing! I just recently bought it in 30 ml, as it was a blind buy, but now I'm regretting not purchasing it in the full size! This perfume smells so delicious; as many reviewers have mentioned, it smells like pineapple cake - sweet, creamy, sticky, decadent and delicious. Definitely does not smell tropical or anything like that, considering that the pineapple note is dominant. The almond note is noticeable and is creamy, smooth, and kind of reminds me of sweet almond paste in croissant or Christmas cake. I can also detect pistachio, and maybe the tiniest bit ever of pear, when I look for it.

I own the original girl of now, and I am in love with both; however, I must say I prefer this one more. This one is also distinct enough from the original, that you can have both. Shine is perfect for winter, and its performance is excellent! (better than the original one's).

I definitely recommend this perfume, if you like sweet, yummy and gourmand fragrances.

ohmichelle

it smells so similar to girl of now. the only difference to me is that in the drydown, the original has more orange blossom and this one has more vanilla

the initial spray is a lot of pineapple. i really don't like that pineapple note.. it's very 'loud' and changes the character of the fragrance. the original girl of now is sweet, feminine, charming. and this one is loud, perfume-y, glam.

This smells like sweet pear cider on me and literally nothing else. Completely linear with decent projection and longevity. I like it but I prefer something just a touch less heavy on the fruit with a little more complexity. Not full bottle worthy for my collection but a pretty, fun scent.

I have a 50ml bottle of Girl of Now Shine and a 10ml travel spray of Girl of Now Forever if someone is interested in a swap for another fragrance you can have both (I'm in the UK). Both only sprayed once. Unfortunately I can't tolerate these perfumes :(
