This is a safe for work scent. Nothing outrageous or bombing on other people's senses. Just safe. Having said that, I don't enjoy this fragrance. Its patchouli note is too earthy and prominent for me. That strong patchouli note doesn't last long thankfully after the initial sprays (maybe 5 or 10 mins?) depending on how much you sprayed. Its still just too long for me though. Yuck. It becomes a citrus and floral mix with slight tones of the patchouli in the background. It evolves into a smell that's reminiscent of fragranced laundry washing powder. It's just mehhhh. I gave my big bottle away a few years ago and kept a 10ml decant as a reminder in moments like now. Nothing has altered in my opinion. Elie Saab has way better scents than this one.

Astar

I haven’t checked Elie Saab fragrances for a hot second - could anyone tell me when did it all go wrong?
This one is just flat and rather unexciting. Fruitiness that turns into a washing powder. Yet, it’s so sweet and headache-inducing that I’ll think twice before wearing it out. Mandarine orange gives it a bit of a punch, but more fruity-juicy-Escada-esque punch, rather than a citric note of delight. A commenter below was spot on comparing it to dried apricots. Pass for me.

Lydia AS

I smell only stewed fruit, orange juice concentrate, and patchouli. I can't smell any rose or neroli.
I think this belongs to the fruitchouli category, which never works for me. If you love that perfume genre, you might enjoy this. It's softer and better blended than other fruitchoulis I've tried.

Marta_Regina

A sophisticated, elegant scent. Politely lingering close to the skin, not to breach the rules of savoir-vivre and overwhelm those around. It carries a note that can be described as "royal." The scent is balanced, subdued, and smooth. It goes beyond purely floral tones. Mature.

Electriclady

Has this fragrance been discontinued because I no longer see it in the high street retailers? In any case, I have just sprung for another large bottle online - as large as I can find - because I love it so much. I know the notes say orange, but my overall experience is one of dried apricots, which I ate as a child and still love eating.
While it smells great all year round, and is one I always get compliments for, to me it really comes alive in winter. I particularly love wearing it at Christmas time when the the rich apricoty fruitiness reminds me of eating dried fruits, nuts and dates during the festive season.
On a personal note, I bought this as a blind buy because Elie Saab Le Parfum is one of my all-time favourites however it's nothing like the original. I got lucky with this one because I have also bought another more recent flanker without testing and was disappointed with that one. I advise testing before purchasing if you can because this isn't everyone's cup of tea.

assoula17

Probably the first Ellie Saab Le parfum flanker I would consider buying! It’s very elegant without and classy without being old fashioned and white-floral heavy like all the other Le parfums. I had the OG Le parfum and gave it away. I just couldn’t stand it and it gave me a major headache every time I wore it. Since then I’ve stayed away from this line. Happy to find a flanker that I like.
It’s a little reminiscent of Miss dior edp 2021 but while Miss dior is the fun and sparkling one, le parfum royale could be the wiser, more mature big sister.

Lorinica

Sweet citrus, rose and patchouli with a hint of warmth from vanilla and amber. It gives me luxurious vibe, not a casual fragrance. I sometimes layer it with Miss Dior EDT to give it more sparkly, sweet citrusy, patchouli vibe or with Shaghaf oud aswad, to get a rose - incense bomb.

I also had Mazaaji, I used it up during last summer, I wore it to the beach, in high heat, because I was obsessed with this scent.... They are very similar but Elie Saab gives way more luxurious feel to it. Mazaaji is very close dupe but it's like toned down version of Elie Saab which is more effervescent, even more so when layered with Miss Dior. Mazaaji is definitely a beautiful scent but not as luxurious and long lasting as Eli Saab.

Longevity is cca 7 hours, projection 2 m, leaves a beautiful scent trail. I prefer to wear it in warmer months, for me is too light for winter.

In comparison to Miss Dior EDT: they are similar, could be cousins but Miss Dior is even more effervescent than Elie Saab with more prounounced citrus and patchouli. I tested them side by side and longevity is way better in Elie Saab. Miss Dior is more tangy, sharper, it's zestier while Elie Saab is rounder and sweeter. I bought a few Dior perfumes mostly for their luxurious feel, not so much for the scent but for the high end vibe... I can tell you that this Elie Saab has this beautiful, expensive, elegant aura.

This is the perfume I've been eyeing on for years and finally been able to purchase it!

First of all, from the box to the bottle, everything is so lovely about Elie Saab Le Parfum Royal. From the box alone, you can already smell it. That's a first time encounter for me.

The scent is my absolute love! It's a combination of candied mandarin oranges, jammy rose and amber, strengthened by patchouli. Royal, true to its name. The performance is amazing as well. This stayed on my dress even after laundered. Also on the day I wore this, the scent transferred to the top I changed into, 8 hours after I sprayed it and it lingered on this top too.

Please, don't blind buy this, especially if you think this will be closely-related to Elie Saab Le Parfum (original) because they don't. Either get a sample or get a decant of its dupe, Lattafa Mazaaji, to test it on yourself first. But if you love Chanel Coco Mademoiselle like I do, you'll enjoy this one too.

Joanabella

This is a new favorite! At first spray all I can smell is honey and rose up front with patchouli and vanilla in the background. It took quite a few wears to distinguish this because it is so well blended together. I am surprised honey is not listed in the notes. The honey note here definitely reminds me of the honey in the original…. But stronger and sweeter. This is a rich and deep fragrance yet it somehow retains some of the effervescence of the original. Hubby loves when I wear it.

I always think twice before buying patchouli perfumes because it has a tendency to dominate the fragrance. While it certainly is detectable throughout each stage of this perfume, it does not steal the show but compliments it.

If you like the original but want something bolder, give this a try.

marialena888m

I regret buying Coco Mademoiselle Intense and wish I had gotten this scent instead. Not only is it less expensive, it is also less overwhelming, smells slightly more youthful, and it has the same warm, luxurious, elegant aura about it that initially attracted me to Coco Mademoiselle Intense. I love the original Elie Saab perfume, and I really like this one too, it is different…it feels somewhat Chanelesque, maybe it’s the sweet oranges + patchouli combo. Perfect for cold weather.

Maya lilac

Le Parfum Royal has a very medicinal rose note and a strong patchouli to pair alongside. The mandarin orange from the top note smells very sharp and feels sickly sweet. And I love sweet scents…

Not my cup of tea but it’s strong and it might be someone else’s. A very mature scent. This is an acquired taste type of scent.

Agne K

i really really love this perfume, its very strong orange + patchouli and u can smell the rose after, it smell pretty strong and beautiful! It just like the name “Royal” so fancy and smells so unique for me 🩷

Katelynl88

Hmmm . I’m honestly not sure . I don’t hate it . The patchouli is a lot stronger than I expected. I swear I almost smell coconut in the dry down . It reminds me slightly of the replica date night , the sour wine . I’m not a fan of that . I have only tried Ellie Saab girl of now and now this one . I’m very curious about the others . I guess this is ok but I probably won’t reach for it much .

Ester Casanova

Not similar to le parfum original, it’s imo better than the others flankers, more elegant and the citrus it’s sweet not sour lemonade kind. It’s pure mandarin oranges. I don’t get so much roses in here, it’s like vaguely mixed with the patchouli which is lovely. And the dry down it’s gorgeous vanilla. I don’t agree that is for winter/autumn only, am wearing it on summer and it’s working beautifully, maybe not for >30*C but in Europe the summer can get really fresh sometimes and it’s perfect for 20 something degrees C. Obviously autum/winter works to, I’m just thinking it’s all year around kind of fragrance. 10/10

A gorgeous take on Pledge wood furniture polish.

Ha!

Blind buy because I pretty much knew I would love this.

And… I do ♥️

I knew MFK would use fruit, patchouli, rose, jasmine and amber in a similar way he used them for MBB (which is my HG of all time, and I have a stockpile of it).

I was right!

So, yes, this is stunning.

So is MBB.

Both are gorgeous.

They are not at dupes, but they are very much in the same vein. They are close siblings.

These types of perfumes are my very favorites.

Deep, heady, dark, bright, dramatic, long lasting.

They are NOT everyone’s cup of tea, however.

The way he uses patch may turn some off…it’s exceedingly smooth, not grainy or dusty at all, like some kind of rich, almost gourmand, syrup. When I first encountered it in MBB I was a bit turned off by it, it almost smelled… indolic…even fecal… but now I absolutely love it.

It’s extremely similarly used in this one.

Heaven.

This does not last as long as MBB. MBB has it beat (by quite a bit. I smell MBB on myself 24 hours later and so do those around me).

I actually don’t find Royale particularly strong. It’s just okay in terms of strength and projection.

As much as I love this, the citrus contrasted with the patchouli and sandalwood can bring to mind furniture polish.

I don’t care.
It’s SO beautiful.

Last thought:
The falcon is strangely tacky, in my opinion.

IKA OKTINA BR SITEPU

an elegant fragrance, premium citrus quality. for the rose lover will enjoy this perfume so much

YellowFluff

The best patchouli-dominant perfume I have ever smelled. Such a unique, sweet, elegant scent.

Malinda666

Where is the citrus and roses?? It´s a patchouli bomb.. Its just too heavy fpr me.

alternateu

Woooow. Sexy. But doesn't smell like a Le Parfum flanker. It's almost an entirely new pillar.
I get a STRONG Black Orchid note. I wasn't expecting it at all; I was just trying out the different Le Parfum flankers and sprayed this one on, and was a little surprised.
Yum! It's a much more wearable, less headache inducing, rounder Black Orchid. I have the actual Black Orchid, and while I love it too, it's a little "much" and really is quite an occasion-type scent. This one is rounder, creamier, nuttier (not sure why, lol), SWEETER, and more feminine. Black Orchid is pretty unisex.

Comparisons aside, this is a sexy, bold, patchouli-heavy chypre scent. Bold, sexy, confident.
Where Le Parfum OG was sweet, girly, and innocent, this one's a woman not afraid to be noticed.

---

I went back to the store to try it on my skin AGAIN, and yes. Still strong Black Orchid vibes at first spray. When it settles onto the skin, it becomes more of a nutty-patchouli, whereas Black Orchid dries spicy-floral.
Excellent projection and longevity.
In the end I decided not to purchase this, because while it's gorgeous and sexy, it doesn't feel "me". It feels like a confident woman in a power suit with sharp shoulders.

If you like this, give Darcy by Parfums de Marly a shot as well.

Scentflower

I really agree with the last review by @Akesuts. This perfume is a patchouli BOMB!! I love Elie Saab perfumes, Le Parfum Intense is my favorite. But this perfume really does smell like bug spray. It made me nauseated.

I blind bought this and Elie Saab Le Couture and I didn't like that either. I think im going to ease off the blind buys. Oh well

Akesuts

Insect repellent in a perfume bottle. Blind bought it as I was hoping for something mysterious and seductive. It's a patchouli bomb, with a sickening fruity opening, both on paper and on clothes. On skin it tends to get milder as it dries down but still nauseating. A scrubber for me unfortunately. Gave me headache. The longevity is strong tho.

ChrissieBrasileira

Adsolutely beautiful perfume! Quality!! It lasts the ENTIRE day into evening with a strong projection. I think this is more of a winter scent than summer as quite strong and somewhat sweet. Not a safe blind buy but is deffinately worth a try.

duaa abed

very unique in good way

bruby15

I see lots of bad reviews. I will say something opposite. I bought this perfume after a couple of sniffs in a store and I must say for me is up there with the big brands. I am a Givenchy, Guerlain kinda girl and I love this perfume a lot. To me it is very floral and reminds me of Ralph Lauren Woman perfume which I adore and purchased my 3rd bottle recently. The Ralph one got me so many compliments... Ellie Saab Royal too. I wear them when I feel very girly... I am 49 now but was told I look 30 :). When I wear floaty floral dresses or just floaty feminine dresses... those 2 are my go to perfumes and I always have people sniffing around me at the office or on the street. I was wearing Ellie one and a male gay colleague at work came to where I was sat to sniff around and told me I always smell amazing. I think I am also into the honey smells and this is supposed to have honey in it. To me is a 10 out of 10, has great sillage and lasts well for 12 hours or more.

VictoriaSmells

Like so many others in this thread, I blind bought a full bottle based on decent reviews and a generous sale price.

I should start by saying that this is NOT a fragrance that I would usually go for. I tend to be a gourmand girl when it comes to cold weather fragrances. I usually don't like the way citrus performs on my skin. And I have a 50% success rate with patchouli. (There are some patchouli fragrances that I LOVE! And some that I HATE, specifically when ethyl maltol is in the mix).

But I figured; "What the heck? If Elie Saab can produce something wonderfully nutty, sweet and floral like Girl Of Now, how bad could this Le Parfum Royal be?"

And y'all. I actually REALLY love this. It's so different than anything else I own (granted, I don't own many rose fragrances). The mandarin mixes with the rose in a way that makes it juicy and jammy. Even with the amber and warm spices, it's not necessarily sweet. In my brain, roses are actually a touch savory and remind of tomatoes.

Perhaps it is just the timing, but this really feels like a fragrance that I would smell an Italian family member wearing at a holiday party. (Italian Christmas Day dinners usually have lasagna, red sauces and soups and dark meats). And I guess it's worth noting that I get annoyed when the 'taste' of my gourmand perfumes clash with my meals. But I was able to cook up a storm and get beautiful wafts of this fragrance without a problem. Something about this perfume really does compliment the aromas of a fancy dinner party.

It's floral, spicy, chewy, gamey and jammy like a purple petite sirah & petit verdot blended red wine.
It's just lovely, perfect for cold weather and cozy family events. Not 'me' at all, but it may become a new signature anyway... Happy Holidays and New Year everyone :)

CarnationCelt

On initial spray this gives the impression of having rubbed your wrists with a lemon wedge, but after a few minutes I was sniffing myself like a bloodhound. The citrus accord truly cannot be overstated; on the other hand, if you give it time to meet with the middle and base notes you'll find it melts into this woodsy vanilla that I cannot get enough of - and there's something about it that brings to mind champagne as well? This would be suitable for the office but could easily be an after-hours scent too, in fact it's pretty seductive in my opinion.

VargaZsuzsanna

Unfortunatelly not for me. I blind bought the biggest bottle (I should definatelly stop doing that) and I can't stand it. No mandarin or rose for me, just the medicinal patchouli from start to end. No amber nor vanilla, not a drop. Here in Hungary we have a kind of fermented cucember everybody makes in summer at home (called "kovászos uborka"), this parfume smells like that. I like eating it, but the smell is just obnoxious.
I tried Le Parfum Royal multiple times during the last few weeks, but it hasn't improved a bit so I returned it this morning. With my skin chemistry/nose it just doesn't work. Definatelly try before you buy.

brightsun2205

An exquisite, bold, warm and earthy fragrance with a hint of citrus and rose. It is more like a boss lady and girls' night out fragrance.

A perfect Autumn and Winter frgrance.

ssamhita

I can’t believe saffron isn’t listed here, because to me this is all saffron in the opening - potent at that. Strangely, I don’t get any citrus! It’s sweet and warm and woody, and I’m almost scared to spray close to my nose because it overpowers everything I smell. Two sprays on my arm and one at the nape of my neck, and I am good to go. You would think that a perfume as loud as this in the opening would last forever, but after a while it becomes a softer more subtle version of itself. And this is the stage I enjoy.

To be honest I could never differentiate between “dirty” patchouli and “clean” patchouli but patchouli itself has never been an issue for me in perfumes. Looking at the notes one would expect a fresh rose that dries down sweet, but this is one instance where the note pyramid is completely misleading.

Not a safe blind buy but if you enjoy the rose-saffron combination, you will love this for sure. I was on the fence about whether this is a keeper or not because my husband detests it with a passion but I’ve nothing like this in my collection and sometimes only this will scratch that very specific itch. So this one’s staying. At least for now.

Edit: I’d put this up for sale, but then I had an epiphany. I layered this with Penhaligon’s Roaring Radcliffe and now this scent is warm and deep and delicious and I can’t get enough of it!

CuriousPerfumeGirl

Do not wear this on a hot day! It just does not do well for me with the heat. However, sillage/longeivity is 10/10

GUADELUPA

Too many patchouli in a good way with light tangerine notes. It's a beautiful, light chypre. But not heavy due to flowers and fruits. A medicinal note is also presents here. I can smell it from the beginning to the end, but it's a lovely medicine note, I like it. Longevity and sillage are excellent - twenty four hours and even longer on clothes. A unique perfume with interesting accords. It is perfect for cold days, winter season and windy weather.

TexasOrangeBlossom

I’ve almost regretted blind buying this fragrance. It’s so different from Le Parfum that I really don’t think it should have been marketed as a flanker. The beginning is very citric and almost too much for me. However, that quickly settles and the sweetness begins to emerge. Now, do not for a second expect anything sugary. It will never be that, but for a chypre fragrance, it is sweet. If you like Coco Mademoiselle and CM Intense, you will likely find this lovely. It’s not mature per se; yet I cannot imagine the majority of college age and younger audience liking it. I can see this working on a bold man who likes fragrances that lean feminine.

Gyps

I blind bought this based on reviews here but wasn’t really impressed on first sniff. I’ll have to come back to it and give it another go.

Edit: Have come back and can’t get past the citrus blast it opens with. I really don’t like citrus in perfumes much. Not strong or long lasting either.

Edit: Came back again for another go. Gritted my teeth when I first sprayed, due to knowing I was going to get blasted by the orange. However, I sniffed and waited, and sniffed yet again many times until I could smell the divine rose come peeking through. I’m going to persevere like I had to with L’Interdit, which turned to a love for me. Im really liking the dry down now.

Edit: It’s full on summer now and very hot. I’m reaching for this one quite a bit. For me it’s way better in the hot weather. Loving it, and I’ll stop wearing it when the weather cools. Glad I persevered.

silthrill

An orange creamsicle with a rose twist on a bed of patchouli. If you want to smell intriguing and noticeable, this is something that will get you noticed.

KingJules96

I like this, smells very clean with some sweet. It reminds me of the Hilary Duff perfume With Love, does anyone else smell this??

Carolinefragrance

Sadly huge dislike. Loved Le Parfum at first sniff. Comes off sharp and pungent. In my opinion this has absolutely nothing in common with Le Parfum. Good sillage and longevity. Can only layer with my beloved Mancera Pearl. Happy to for swap for anything else.

Edit. I still find this perfume challenging but I have kept returning to to try it since a lot of the time the most challenging perfumes for me have turned into loves with time.

I now appreciate bold long lasting perfumes and this certainly is one of them. Although I totally get the “pickle” aspect I now more clearly detect the nuances of mandarin and rose. I am beginning to really like this one.

The sillage is enormous. This is the signature scent of a work colleague and I can tell she’s around before I see her in our open plan office.

I find 3-5 sprays sufficient so I think my 90ml bottle will last a good while and I am now happy I got the biggest bottle. : )

Writtany

This is a beautifully done sweet mandarin orange floating in a rose and vanilla syrup, poured in an earthenware bowl and stirred with a spoon of sandalwood. It’s feminine but not girly, powerful without being rude. It’s beautifully balanced. Chypre style perfumes tend to be very hit or miss on me and this one is definitely a hit. The perfume starts out green and woodsy with a hit of citrus, and everything comes together within just minutes. The roses bloom all at once, bolstered by the woods, patchouli, and amber in the base equally. I can see it doing very well in all seasons, but it is certainly an evening perfume. I’m wearing it on a warm summer evening, sitting outside on my porch with a glass of highly-rated white wine as I watch the golden hour light filter through the trees. Who wouldn’t feel royal wearing this?

seliko

i feel like this perfume carries sort of a masculine element, without being masculine? i'm pretty sure it gave me this impression because of the woody citrusy notes it carries. on paper i loved it, it is unlike anything i have in my moderately small collection. unfortunately my skin has a tendency to amp up notes that might be defined as borderline masculine to a point where it feels like straight up cologne. on paper, it was giving charismatic woman with a strong character. straight hair with tons of jewelry, masc, and always put together. the color dark blue combined with white. if i smelled it on someone else, it would get me feeling some type of way. on my skin it gave cheap men's cologne from the grocery store.

Eveningrose

The three major things I smell in here are orange, rose and vanilla . It just reminds me of Kulfi or some sort of middle eastern dessert 🍨. It is definitely a sweet scent ! Definitely a keeper and unique in my collection

Tinabill

Luxurious orange-rose syrup.
This is a delicious, rich orange and rose syrup drizzled on a balanced amber-patchouli base.
I adore the fact that ES respects his Lebanese heritage and it shows in all his perfume creations.
Zuhorat and maward (orange blossom and rose extract) are heavily used in Lebanese sweets and even added to drinking water. The gardens are full of roses, jasmine and fenced with patchouli shrubs. In the countryside you’ll be surrounded by orange groves as well as almond and pistachio trees. These are the ingredients in most of his perfumes.
LPR is Majestically bright, fragrant and sweet. 💕

kkaattjjeess

Something about the opening of this fragrance is quite off-putting to me, but it's better as it dries down, less earthy, sweeter, and the rose comes out. Not yet convinced I like this, but will give it a few more tries. This is way more Elie Saab-esque than Chanel-esque to me.

LivsAnne

Not sure how I feel about this fragrance, there is none of the original Le parfum dna here and that is probably whats turning me off this. The rose and citrus mix, is reminiscent of cleaning products... Will likely remove from my collection

*sophi*

Mellow rose and honeyed blended patchouli combo dream! Excellent aromas of mandarin/orange at the opening leading to a sweet hearted blend of flowers and a sweet patchouli base! Long long lasting from afternoon to dawn. A party night out bomb perfume!

Gugz

I am not a fan of citrus notes dominanted perfumes but boy I tested this juice yesterday and I can not wait to buy the 90ml bottle 😍

zebra782

Rarely do fragrance names fit the actual smell, this really does smell royal, authoritative yet soft at the same time.

bananco

I blind bought this perfume because it was on sale for a great price and I figured I can't go wrong based on the reviews. Boy, was I mistaken. The patchouli is so overwhelming that it's practically vomit inducing. It just smells like some random chemicals mixed together and packaged in a beautiful bottle. Of course perfume is subjective and I understand that every one has unique tastes, but how this even made it to shelves is beyond me.

On the plus side, performance is 10/10!

Szilvita

Huge patchouli bomb to my nose.

This perfume is what made me realize how patchouli actually smells like.

And also realize that this must be what makes me ambivalent about certain perfumes. Like Le Parfume Essentiel and My Burberry Black, both have patchouli listed very high in the notelist.

I'm afraid to buy anymore of the Squared Elie Saab Le parfums now. Patch seems to play a prettty big role in several of them.

EDIT: now at 25-30degrees I don't get the same patchouli bomb like the first time in winter. Very curious if it will show up later. Testing on paper again. Now I smell something sweet and fruity fresh. Still pretty strong but much nicer. Impressive how different the exact same perfume can smell.

takema

I smelled this fragrance in store, on paper and from the cap. I hated it. I immediately got bug repellant vibes from it. I sniffed it in store a couple more times and felt the same way each time. Still, my dumb ass bought a bottle when I saw a small one for a great price. I told myself I didn't give it a real chance. It must smell so much better on skin. I love the rest of the line after all. Sadly it was even worse on my skin. I actually find this kind of gross. It is a very syrupy green patchouli that somehow smells like the bug repellant my mom put on me when I was a kid in the 80's. None of the other notes seemed to be able to breakthrough the patchouli, except to amplify the worst parts of it. I am not a patchouli hater, I really love some very patchouli dominant fragrances, but this is the type I can't tolerate. It's also mildly headache inducing for me.

The performance is quite good. Of course it is, because I hated it. It projects pretty far and lasts all day. It was still going strong on my skin when I showered 9 hours after applying it. Thankfully it did not survive the shower. I think this would get painfully cloying in the heat, I found it that way on a cold winter day.

I really enjoy the bottle design. It is the same faceted glass as the rest of the fragrances in the Le Parfum line but with deep blue/green label and accents. I own 8 fragrances in this line and the rest of them range from strong likes to loves and one more still requiring a good wear test. I don't know how this one went so wrong for me.

PeachHoney

This fragrance is a beast. I initially tried it first during the warmer days and instantly fell inlove with it. It was so unique, does not smell like anything I've ever tried before. I am really pick with my scents, rarely get amazed by anything, but this one went straight into my heart. It starts off really fresh and warm, opens with mandarin and a little of the roses, then it gets fresher and a little sour from the neroli and the patchuli I think, after 30-40 minutes the freshness setles down a bit, I can still detect the mandarin, but now the sandalwood and vanilla come into the game and this gets even better and better. It is warm and fresh at the same time, I get a little of the rose, but it is not too obvious that it makes it feel soapy or too powdery. It has very powerful presence, strong character, smells expensive, womanly, sexy, powerful, confident - everything I want to feel! It will become my new signature scent for sure, my previous one was Z&V This is her, and they are very different in their vibe, but still same in their uniqueness. This should get more attention from the perfumers world. Must try, not blind buy as it is specific.

Iridescent Bee

This beauty is a full-bodied love.

This is a very unique expression of feminine depth - a one of a kind perfume. The rose is very dewy and sweet. The patchouli is very lush and alive - not dry, at all. There are elements that remind me of Black Orchid but this is denser and more feminine.

Royal is a beast that will not disappoint in longevity. When I sampled it, I sprayed it on paper and what a delightful bomb it was. I kept getting waves of it in my living room weeks later and after a month there was still good dose of creamy vanilla.

This fragrance feels a lot bigger and more complex than the notes would lead you to believe.

Oh goodness, something about this is so Chanel-esque...I can't put my finger on exactly what it is. Maybe the type of patchouli and rose combined. This could easily pass for Chanel (which is fine, I'm not a follower of theirs necessarily, but I enjoy Chanel as much as the next person).

I can get some mandarin if I concentrate, but really, what I smell in the opening is a sweet, fruity honeyed white wine. It's definitely syrupy, but not corn-syrupy or too cloying, although this is actually one fragrance that I probably would avoid in the summer (usually I don't worry about seasons), because it might become too heady and thick in the heat.

The rose in this is gorgeous. It's a very cleaned up rose, with none of the dirty (which I love equally as much, and it's nice to have both) facets or rugged green aspects. The ambery richness really glosses over everything, and the patchouli is also the kind that isn't super earthy or unprocessed, nothing in here is "raw" or "rough", it's all quite balanced and nothing juts out at the nose. It creates a gorgeous bubble around you, and the longevity is quite good, you certainly get your money's worth. For all this, this doesn't smell pretentious or snooty, it smells like a graceful and compassionate woman.

The keyword in this is *smooth*. This is a smooooth, blended, uptown, night out (or whatever, I don't think you should restrict yourself) perfume. I don't say this often, but this is totally, totally bougie. I don't always think that things like this suit me personally, but as I grow, I realize that it's important to have something like this around, and some clothes to match. Every lady deserves to feel the way this makes me feel every once in a while. It smells like white gold.

Just...absofreakinglutely, fabulously fancy. 🌟

Chinello23

Definitely a mature scent. I'm getting a LOT of rose.....
It's well blended and creamy... quite beautiful.

Blind buy in a half price sale. I already have Love in White & the original Le parfum. I can sort of see a mild resemblance to the original. I don't really get any mandarin, on me it's rose, neroli, patchouli & vanilla, very balanced classy kind of smell, I can see why others have mentioned Coco Mademoiselle but I prefer this 'cos it's just a little bit of a twist on it. I think this will be a nice everyday scent. The vanilla is described on the box as 'leathery' but it's v subtle. This one deserves more love. It's really beautiful. Have only had it for a day n it's an instant favourite. Will probably get a back up once I've sold something else..

Elie Saab Le Parfum is my ride or die fragrance. Never wanted to try the flankers up until i saw a second hand bottle with a crazy deal, so i just bought it without any expectations.

Initial spray is candied oranges, i was afraid this one’s gonna be a gourmand. But after awhile, my God this is so beautiful. I didn’t expect the “expensive” smell coming. I got sweet, woody, rosy almost masculine in a pretty way. I’m not saying it’s a masculine fragrance. But i picture a bold, strong, stylish lady and she’s rich when smelling this perfume. Makes me wanna bath myself with this perfume. Well i guess it’s another ride or die perfume for me.

KaitM

A bold woody sweet patchouli and orange. The citrus is heavier when you first spray, then the patchouli takes total center stage—most of the stage, really—and the orange blossom and vanilla keep it from going anywhere musty. Didn’t get a lot of rose despite two types listed in the notes, but there is something lightly powdery and “expensive”-smelling here so maybe that’s it rather than a hit-you-over-the-head red rose like many of my other rosy fragrances.

It’s a very strong juice, only a spritz or two is needed.

doritoluniu

Sweet rose, sweet patchouli, one spray is enough. Perfect for November, cool winds and humid air. I love it very much, a compliments getter.

Nettie108

This was a puzzle. Got a carded sample from FragranceX and fell in love. Felt it was my new signature fragrance. It was warm, oriental and almost a skin-scent. Ok, ordered a bottle. Have tried it 3 times. Chemically, almost acrid (I can't think of any other word) and overpowering. Bears no resemblance to the sample. I will probably try to trade it. What a disappointment.

Dr.Myles

I purchased this alongside Le Parfum Essential. Gorgeous classy bottles as I would expect from this fashion house.

I have since given away Essential and kept Royale to myself. At initial spray during warm weather it was overwhelmingly sweet and almost pungent, with a synthetic balsamic vinegar like note in there, but wearing it now during cooler weather I find it alluring . A younger me could not carry this, but in my 30s, this puts me in a confident and sensual mood. I am starting to enjoy the mixture of heady heirloom roses dipped in honey and the sharp, never ending patchouli. It smells better on my skin than on clothing where the dry down is a sophisticated amber vanilla. The name definitely suits.

Did not think this was office appropriate but I did wear it out to work and received many compliments on the " candy smell" wafting from my person. No one picked up on the roses, which is very prominent to my nose and that's fine.

Reserving this for evening wear. A definite like.

Add a heavy dose of patchouli to your standard sweet floral designer perfume - then you get Royal.

I don't get much of the original Elie Saab DNA, this can totally be a standalone line. The patchouli here is about the same intensity as the patchouli in Angel Muse edt (less than in edp and Angel). It is nothing like Coco Mademoiselle, which is patchouli but made in a classy powdery way. Royal is patchouli + sweet jammy fruity floral.

Original Elie Saab
- powdery (a tad soapy) white floral
- office, wedding appropriate
- mature, classy, reminds me of Prada la Femme

Elie Saab Royal
- patchouli is present from top to base
- amp up sweetness from the original

Elie Saab in White
- most "designer-vibe" out of the three
- cute, young, girly, sweet floral
- similar to a lot of sweet white floral frags on the market (e.g. Voce Viva Valentino)

Scentedalterego

This is a lot like Miss Dior Le Parfum. Jammy rose patchouli-amber with orange. I have and love that one more though, it's better balanced. However, MDLP is also discontinued, so if you are looking for Le Parfum you'll love this! Great performance as well.

Efragrantica

Oh I love this purfume. As well as all the other Elie Saab purfumes. I wear this one in Winter. Its a great scent for the cooler months and even a great evening smell too as it's so bold and sexy! A great compliment getter. I would receive so many compliments from wearing this, even from strangers. It was recommended to me by a sales rep from Myer when it first came out a few years back. I'm so glad I was introduced to this amazing purfume. I will be purchasing again when my bottle runs out

Emera1d

Strong, thick, syrupy sweet scent. Smelling it blind in the shop it seemed to me like a sweet coconut scent, almost like what an expensive sun cream would smell like. Looking at the notes my nose clearly got it wrong. It really is very potent and projects a lot and I can imagine in better in the evening as it seems to heavy for daytime wear. Undeniably fancy and sophisticated but way too strong and sweet for me.

tovasignature

This is very unisex. It reminds me of a type of chypre popular in the late 80's; think Ungaro's Diva. This is mostly patchouli on my skin with a bit of citrus. Very smooth with a bit of spice to round it out. Expensive soap vibes, BUT not soapy' if that makes sense. Again, it smells unisex and expensive. I only have a sample. i'm not sure if I'll purchase a full bottle.

fgamz

This straight up gave me Miss Dior/Coco Mademoiselle vibes, but less sweet, more mature. I really liked it but not enough for me to purchase. This sillage and lasting power though were amazing!! Its not a sickly sweet perfume too, very elegant and poshy without it being too "try hard"

iman.sallam.9

Le Parfum Royal Elie Saab very much resembles the now discontinued beautiful scent With Love by Hilary Duff which was not a boring overrated celebrity perfume. It was mysterious and captivating.
It can pass as unisex in my opinion and it gives me kind of incense/oriental vibes.
It might not be a crowd pleaser because it's not overly floral or sweet but it'll be appreciated by the older audience.

Smonalisa

Opens with face puckering tanginess, creamy from beginning to end. The sandalwood is always present but, as the citrus tang subsides, it starts to take center stage. The rest of the notes are in the background keeping the scent creamy, but open and textured. Dry down is ambery with sandalwood. There is a type of oud that has a citrus essence that I love. I can feel it a bit in this scent… If you replaced oud with sandalwood and covered it with a giant sour blanket of citrus and cream.

I want to love this but... it's just too sour. Smells like soured milk. I get what they were trying to do with a citrusy arabian wood but...I think they missed the ball on this one and made a Frankenstein.

Bubbles1964

Le Parfum Royal is full of dichotomies: it’s soft but dense, it’s sweet but dry, formal yet easy going, it’s natural (fruit notes) but also synthetic (floral, patch). And it’s not for me. I don’t have the right personality to pull this one off. I think there’s too much going on in this perfume and it ends up being a confusing blend on my skin.

If you are curious, this perfume does have stellar performance. I’m going to pass but not downvote Royal.

Koko_S

There is nothing ''Royal'' to me in this combination. It's too sweet-jammy as someone says here

Mlepnos

Patchouli drenched in a deep sugary jelly amber mandarin orange concentrate juice (+ some woodyness). I like it! I haven’t come across this particular scent before and it is quite interesting. The only thing I don’t like is maybe that it’s just a little bit too sweet. The dry-down is quite pretty though and less sweet. However, I prefer Miss dior Le parfum 2012 in this regard which is a bit similar, but less sweet and heavier on the amber (at least on me).

I’d give it a 7.5/10 overall.

LMD

No, this is not for me. The opening is overpowering and very blousy for want of a better word. I'm not sure if that's the neroli but I don't like it. I love mandarin by itself or with one or two other notes(AA mandarine basilic is one of my favourite perfumes) which is why I thought I might like it, but for some reason I'm not such a fan when it's blended with a lot of other notes. After the initial blast of on the turn white flowers I get the orange and neroli. Not tart, juicy and realistic mandarin but a synthetic orange. No sign of rose or vanilla. A little amber maybe.
Edit: The drydown is actually quite pretty, the amber and patchouli come forward and the orange and neroli softens and becomes quieter. I just don't like it enough to suffer the opening act.

“Sweet Golden Fruity Floriental”

I really love this but somehow think it’s unimpressive at the same time? it’s quite sweet. smells like candied mandarin orange. not citrusy but candy mandarin. I don’t get much patchouli or woods, maybe just subtly in the far dry down. it’s mostly sweet mandarin & maybe a honey-sparkling type of floral nectar (that doesn’t come off particularly floral). Maybe the middle is a sweet mandarin rose but this doesn’t resemble roses to me at all. overall it’s wholly synthetic-artificial (as opposed to natural or realistic) and has great moderate longevity and sillage. this description might not sound positive but I totally love it and enjoy wearing Le Parfum Royal a lot. it feels sweet, joyful, easy going and fun to me.

ps: I would not compare this to coco mademoiselle at all. I absolutely detest coco mad and love this. Le Parfum Royal is not that kind of dreadful bug spray patchouli, and I generally have a lot of difficulty liking anything patchouli heavy when it's a fruit-choli type of scent.

also can’t explain why I think it’s not especially impressive, since I LOVE it. I guess because it’s not different or unusual but to be fair it’s unusually good so maybe I should just say it IS IMPRESSIVE 💛😊

EDIT: a reviewer up above this one mentioned Creme Brulee and I gotta agree. I've been wearing this about once per week the past couple months and now that the weather is a bit cooler I am seriously loving Le Parfum Royal! (AFTER it dries down) it reminds me of creme brulee with strawberries. Deliciously, sweet and fruity vanilla/amber oriental.

PS: sometimes this smells like pina colada (pineapples & coconut). sometimes it smells like bananas. sometimes it smells like creme brûlée with canned mandarin oranges. it’s very fruity and creamy custard but not truly edible/gourmand, still perfumey.

Dani C.

I absolutely LOVE Royal. Is a very dense fragrance and my skin pulls off a coconuty kinda smell. I don’t get not even a bit of roses - so if rose put you off try this one.
Another thing, I don’t think it resembles not even a bit L’Interdit or Coco Mademoiselle. The only resemblance is the density and richness they all have AND the strong Patchouli, witch I absolutely adore.
Longevity is pretty good. 8 hours later and I can smell it on my skin.
Really amazing fragrance specially for spring, fall and winter.

A love...it depends all on your chemistry...on me you can smell like a bitter sweet orange with a slight of rose, it performs, is longlasting..this is another grab and go for me, just loveeee it.. and never have I got 3, 4 compliments in 5 minutes!

lechickpea

Lightly spiced, sweet mandarin framed by lovely, creamy woods. Maybe there's something wrong with my nose but I don't pick up the rose or even the patchouli much at all. The mandarin orange note is the star throughout, it's very pretty but somewhat synthetic-smelling.

Very interesting and pleasant composition. It seems I'm alone in this, but I don't find this a particularly "royal" scent. I generally find orange to be such a happy-go-lucky, friendly kind of note, and this is no exception. In fact, this is much more casual to my nose than the original Le Parfum, which is the ultimate in classy, professional perfumes.

Lovely scent, exceptional performance. An easy like.

Nanis224

Reviewing in spring time, smells sickly sweet honey even for me, even if there is no honey is no listed, made me gag, there is some background rose and patchuli. It becomes more bareable after like 2 hours when the sweet is gone.
I will give it another try in cold winter...

Murmur123123

This is a lot more fruitier than I expected. In the first 30 min or so, it is very sweet (think of sweet orange or mandarin) and also has a vanilla scent which reminds me of an old fashioned face cream or make-up product. The neroli comes out after that, but the creamy sweetness still remains. To me it gets better as it dries down, as the sweet creaminess fades and the woody patchouli notes become more prominent.

Overall this is very different from the original Le Parfum. Although fruity scents are not my favourites, Le Royal has a cheerful and bubbly quality which I can appreciate. I will keep it as it brings in variety to my collection which is quite floral dominant.

Hanoian

Sweet, dry woods, just keeps getting better and better and more addictive as it drys down. Definitely has that gorgeous honeyed orange blossom note from le parfum. I get a sort of watery note, maybe the citrus? Stunning and very classy. If you’re hesitant, definitely test on your skin and allow a good 30 mins.

Manya3

Is it called Royale because it smells like honey and royal jelly? 😁
Tested on crook of elbow, it's been almost 4 hours and it's pretty warm outside. I can still smell it.
Imagine you are a bee and you land on a huuuuge velvety rose - this is what it smells like. Rose petals, nectar and honey. The honey note reminds me of Yves Rocher Miel d'oranger. There's also a slightly sour note, but that's possibly the way patchouli smells on my skin. Mead! This is what it makes me think of, mead!

I can't imagine wearing this as an everyday scent, or even as a day scent. To me it smells opulent, classy and needs an evening dress if not a gown.

igalmusic

Very strong and very fruity fragrance, definitely unique but I still can't decide if I like it or not...

Christinageor10

Very chic and expensive smelling. The dry down is rich and creamy with the sandalwood, patchouli, amber, and vanilla. I have had someone say it's too strong for them when I wore it, but mostly positive feedback. It is more for me that I wear fragrance anyways and I feel luxurious when I wear this one.

Beccyb95

Very sharp, masculine citrus and wood to my nose. Doesn’t smell bad but very much not for me.

aurine24

Exuberant somewhat loud but still irresistibly sexy.
It seems to heat up the skin where sprayed- no other perfume did this before.
It took some time to grow on me but I love it now.

KarolaFragrance

I received a sample today and I have to say I am not convinced... on my skin it gets very creamy and starts to smell of sth I actually quite dislike in perfume: coconut. I will test it some more, see if sth changes, but if the coconut feel persists, I am out.

marthamoo

When I first smelled this I wasn't a fan. It was too strong. But wow, I appreciate the woody note and the blend of the citrus. This would be my autumn perfume to wear in work or wear on a night out.

SniffinBloomingBubbleLand

More like tarragon, than steaming curtain fabric.
A bit like crayons.

bel.gravia

A very very strong vanilla patchouli. Take Miss Dior EDP triple the patchouli and the vanilla and there you have it. Also similar to my beloved Guess Seductive I'm Yours. This is all about a grown up sexy sweetened herbal patchouli.

kobylnice

This was a blind buy, sadly not a lucky one. It's heavy(ish) oriental, creamy, sweet, woody perfume. Blended well, opening by mandarin orange notes, roses mid notes were just detectable though and I could also smell chocolate once settled. It's not a wow or signature fragrance, nothing royal or luxe here, I smelled very similar scent many times before. Good for winter months as it feels you are wrapped all cosy. Unfortunately, it reminds me very much of perfumes which old ladies were wearing when I was a wee girl. I can't get it out my head, when I spray this fragrance on me I feel like I aged by 40 years. I am so sorry but this is not for me, luckily I could return it to the shop. Thumbs up for superb longevity, 2 sprays on neck last 5+ hours, on clothes till the next day. The sillage is quite intimate though.

GabrielleeeeeW

This is a love. The original Elie Saab is one of my favorites, and this quickly is becoming another. To me, this is a blast of orange, and that note is what I get strongest in the dry down with a bit of sandalwood and rose. I definitely get a bit of the original DNA. It is refined, luxe, and expensive smelling without feeling too fancy-it's one I would still wear daily. The only thing disappointing is (maybe I'm just an outlier) is the projection. Longevity was great but I felt this was more of a skin scent on me, which is interesting because the original performs super strong and fills a room.

Holli

I can't decide whether I'm into this or not. I agree that it smells luxe. The dry down is a beautiful almost chocolate sandalwood. If the scent started that way, it would be a new favorite. However it gets there after being a sharp and less sweet elie saab for some time.

agate.ne

I kind of wonder why there is no one saying that the opening smells like banana 😂 and I am torn between the banana scent and gorgeous rose petals.. surely I won't wear it when it's 100°F out there, however it'll be gorgeous in the cooler air, especially when you're craving for something sweet. And hungry.

Projection is nuclear. It's night occasion perfume for me, and it obviously mature. Anyway, it's banana/ sweet rose petal opening for me. It turns into sweet vanilla middle and hopefully quite solid sandalwood. I like it, but it's not love. Since I prefer ES rose couture better (yep, that sweet smelling cotton candy rose vanilla cream). Hence, I won't repurchase.

Tirreni

I received a free sample of this. Sprayed one spray 12 hours ago and it's still stronger than ever. This would be great if I liked it, but I'm afraid I don't. I find it extremely generic, nothing new, a scent I've smelled a thousand times before, totally unoriginal and VERY migraine-inducing! Literally all I can smell is overwhelming amber, patchouli, and sandlewood all the way through, and all scents I really dislike. As with Ellie Saab's original fragrance this is something completely unoriginal, and that if you go into town on a Saturday night you'll find every 20 year old girl stinking of having doused herself with too much of. Horrible!

MademoiselleMaya

Winter - it is turning into an intoxicating orgy of notes: floral, fruity, warm. The patchouli becomes the background that holds the sparkling notes.
Like a black version of champagne.

amiradelmar

It kind of reminds me of those tube conditioners that come in boxed hair dye mixed with grape Hubba Bubba gum, and something else familiar that I can't place. Not my style, but I like it and I can see why others would love it.

moccacino

The scent is incredible - very sweet, exotic, sensual, slightly heavy, luxury! One of my new favs! Its sweetness is attractive fullness of roses. I don`t feel mandarin orange at all. Longevity is more than 10 hours. Smells expensive, chic, ultra classy!

KindnessBoo

This is a love for me. 😍

I don’t get any Black Orchid vibes from this but I’ll have to go compare because I can’t stand Black Orchid.

Joani_Cheddar

When I wear this fragrance, I feel like I am featured in Jordan Belfort's Straightline commercial; the perception of a yacht relaxing millionaire - even tho I'm really stuck in a financial rut from spending too much money on perfumes. I smell orange and neroli - which come across a wee sharp but then there is the creamy notes of sandalwood, vanilla and honey (there is no honey in this fragrance, so it is most likely the amber) and it is blended swell. Reeks of money, sunshine, mansions, golf matches and a tennis visor. Lovely.

Claire brad

I couldnt wait to order this based on reviews, its lovely but there was something familiar about it it, as i pick up my velvet orchid its almost identical side by side, black orchid was far too medicinal for my liking but this is definitely more wearable.
I like but not a love.

Edit: Fast forward a few months, I decided to wear this for a change layered with iso e super. Im not sure whether the iso e super helped with projection but it definitely garnered a few compliments

L.A.B33

I have been wearing this for a few days to give this elegant queen a full review.

There is no denying the elegance of this gorgeous lady. She arrives to any party like a royal or rich woman: effortlessly and noticeable, without shouting or intentionally drawing attention to herself.

The first blast is quite a sweet citrus, but that dissipates quickly. The dry down is a beautiful, refined patchouli and, though the notes do not state it, honey. The combination DOES smell expensive orange jellies AND a sweeter Black Orchid.

This scent is a good, unique daily perfume that will not overwhelm and delights from start to finish.
I do not get nuclear longevity or projection/sillage. In fact, the sillage is quite modest, even when I have oversprayed. While this does give a good 6 hours on clothes, it fades off rather quickly on skin. If it had better longevity, I think I would have found the holy grail of designer perfumes! It is still a worthy buy and just a stunning perfume in any collection.

sarahjayne_uk

Think Tom Ford, black orchid, but sweeter. I would wear this as a day fragrance, and layer black orchid over in the evening as a day to night transition. One of my new favs!

supersaiyan

Orange juice, from concentrate.

The opening is like candied orange peels with a small dose of patchouli in the base, rose is round and watery sweet. I like it. After the opening, the patchouli disappears and it straight up smells like deep, sugary orange jellies - the gourmet ones that are shaped like orange slices, with a lovely, watery rose boosting the jelly-like quality of the orange. Le Parfum Royal is the more youthful, playful version of Coco Mademoiselle that is easier on the patchouli and much stronger on a candy-like, sweet orange. After a long, long time, the very last bit of the dry-down is reminiscent of a fruitier Black Orchid.

For me, it would be good for summer days on a yacht, but it's beautiful in the cooler weather as well. Projection and longevity are beastly for a Western brand as well.

LavenderJuliette

This is pure luxury. I looove this one.

I tried a sample and I immediately spotted patchouli with rose and strong mandarin opening. Then I was getting honey, lots of honey and I think that it´s ambra + vanilla + neroli.

It doesn´t remind me of Dior MP, though. For me, it has the same ,punch´ as original BVLGARI Jasmine Noir, but it smells different.

A slightly heavy, but luxurious, beautiful scent. LOVE!

Soan

All I can think of is my trip to Bulgaria year ago, having my favorite dessert Rose Loukhoum in a Ski Resort Bansko wearing my cashmere sweater by fireplace.

MagdalenaM

it smells like you own a yacht and only wear white and navy blue. i personally really like it.

KindnessBoo

Honesty, one of my favourites! Longevity lasts 6-8 hours and will last longer with a touch up and wears better in cooler weather. Sillage is enormous and I receive a lot of compliments wearing it!

Cmed

Not what I was hoping for. I came to this hoping for something similar to the OG with less honey. This isn't that

Objectively speaking it's fresh, spicy, good strength, orange.

Unfortunately between my skin and nose it's reading a little sharp, air freshener, incense.

The search continues...

MrAbbas

A Stunner.... Smells expensive, chic, ultra classy and yet feminine. This scent has warmth to it, so wear it in cold weather. Performance is great with good projection, good for a designer scent. The lady who wears this is well put together, she doesn't chew gum, rich yet caring and flirty. When she walks she gets attention and turn heads. Men want to wife her and other women are underneath jealous of her. It's the lady who wears Elie Saab designs.

Edit: The best part is the opening, its a stunner... but quickly becomes a bit more woody or patchouli like and loses the honey on top. Still a great classy perfume.

golden.signorina

So luxurious expensive smell
It Sensual mysterious dark scent
Excellent performance
Love it 😍

ky4r4

This is a fruity, expensive champagne. The rose, orange blossom and patchouli here make a sparkling unique composition. I would describe it as a floriental more than a chypre. To me it is ground-breaking like most Elie Saab fragrances. I honestly do not see anything like this around. Maybe in the style of My Burberry black and Coco noir but much more versatile. It would make an excellent signature. Perfect for all year round, day/night and every situation. The sweetness makes it playful and feminine while the rose give a classy, elegant touch. I see it on a strong, confident woman. Perfect for a lady boss. It does not have a large evolution to me but stay steady over time. I am 33 but I see this would be event better in a badass over 40. Not sure if I will repurchased it again when my bottle finishes but I will definitely come back to it when I get older. I feel like I am not mature (and maybe reach) enough for this since this expensive smelling gem does not fit my current lifestyle. Excellent performances. Stays days on clothes and at least 7-8 hours on the skin. I thought it had not a great sillage since after a while I have to come close to smell on myself until I decanted a small amount on a sprayed that was defective and leached. I entered the room where the container was inside a beauty and I could smell the perfume at least for 6 meters away. STUNNING.

nihalhel

Omg! This is hard to explain. It stars super super nice, heavy, strong and wow. After 15 min it changes even to better way. It is like, fruity heavy cocktail. coconut, cherry and rose mix. (I know there is no coconut or cherry). After 1 hour the best part starts. Woody and spicy. It’s like 3 different perfume. I’m a big fan of Elie Saab perfumes but this one it’s best so far. 💖

Naji

Totally underwhelmed.
Perhaps my body chemistry is hostile to Royale. It’s pretty linear on me. It hasn’t developed much over two hours. It’s strident and brittle and overpriced and a poor after-image of the original, which was ground-breaking in many ways. Kurkdjian must be sad to see it mimicked thus.
I’m happy for those of us who love it. Enjoy!

Theonlyone

Whoever voted poor performance and weak sillage needs to first shower and have good hygiene because something is wrong with their skin. You may not like the scent and that’s okay but you CANNOT DENY that this perfume is nuclear, potent and lasts forever on the skin!

I love this so much. It’s the first of the Elie Saab line I smelled and I was captivated immediately. I got a sample and wore it to school and everyone smelled me the whole day. I could smell myself too. It’s powerful!

Kots_Tanya

This is stunning! If you enjoy Coco Noir by Chanel, you will enjoy this one as well. They're not the same but just the Patchouli Rose combo reminds me of each other.
This is very intoxicating. Starts out with Patchouli, Rose and Mandarin Orange, and as it tried down it becomes a little more powdery with vanilla and Mandarin orange became a little stronger too. Slightly soapy but at the same time very addictive. I just keep coming back for a sniff. Its really good, very feminine. The performance is amazing!

Plamka

It is so potent intoxicating, sexy and mysterious that i ordered it a day after testing. This rarely happens to me, i do not spend on perfume until i'm totally in love. I've had it for 2 months now and i am very happy with the longevity and projection.

Something in it reminds me of Nina Ricci -Ricci Ricci that i couldn't buy at the time due to financial difficulties and i had to have it, not sure which note it is that reminds me of it.
The other reason i bought it is i was looking for a new sexy feminine evening/cold weather perfume and was almost sure i'll just stock up on my current favorites Angel EDT or buy LVEB again.
Overall the juice is amazing i love it, suitable for winter, the bottle and cap seem very cheap though i am not enjoying having it on my dresser.

LadyMaverick

@Ronett no, it doesn't. It is very strong, very dense and in your face. A bit smoky and quite syrupy. It is not, in the slightest, similar to Midnight Poison.

annxyz

This one is a powerhouse ! it is unusual to find perfumes with this kind of sillage and longevity these days , no kidding . One or two sprays will linger a VERY long time .

To me it smells a bit like a tart Coco Mademoiselle and is not shy or reserved . Very pretty and impressive value .

All reviews are to be respected in my opinion, we are different and perceive smells differently. To each his own.. but in all fairness I think Elie Saab's quality puts many of the BIG names to shame.

I sprayed 1 single spray this morning and kept smelling it with every breath till the evening, I wanted to change so I sprayed Miss Dior on top, but Le Parfum Royal ate it alive.. This one stays as a skinscent even after taking a scrub hot shower!

And I can tell you that 90% of the time I don't agree with the 'Long Lasting' or 'Very Long Lasting' rating on perfumes, but this is really 'THE BOMB'.

Do test before you buy. Definitely not a crowd pleaser.

Ronett

Does it really smell like midnight poison ?

MsKayJae

Miss Dior 2012 resurrected with a soft ambery drydown and a touch more patchouli. Should have a lot of fans.

Jacquis

Ooohh this is gorgeous........This is heavenly............oh so intoxicatingly sweet, sensual, inviting....... If you only need one, perhaps...

Le Parfum royal is beyond beautiful. This dense, sophisticated elixir is so satisfactory. This matches the feeling I get from My Burberry Black Elixir Extrait de Parfum. If you were unable to find the latter then this one is VERY similar. I'll now have to purge my perfume closet of so many others that are just no longer cutting it. This perfume has raised the bar.

By the way, this does not remind me of Black Orchid. I see no similarity on this 85F summer day.

EDIT: On a cooler day, in the deep drydown (6-8hrs), I do sense a Black Orchid vibe.

Intoxicating heavy bomber! Longlasting and rich flavour, I love it! :)

this perfume is a love/hate kind. you either love it or hate it. I LOVE it. the thing though, one tiny dash or spray fills up an apartment. its extremely potent.i have to review some fragrances from this House now
i give this a 9 for smell 200/10 for performance

This one is a bit enigmatic..

I have tried it a few times trying to figure it out whether I should get it or not, would it be redundant, is it similar to Nuit Noor, Coco Melle, Black Orchid...
No, it's none of them, but it does share the same exact Patchouli note as Nuit Noor (maybe BO as well?), like the same kind from the same source and that's why I felt the similarity in my previous review.

But other than that one note (prevalent in both perfumes), it is quite unique, very mysterious, with the usual Elie Saab's perfect quality and performance.

It's Beautiful in its own way so I'm getting this..

Oh! Forget to mention that this is seriously POTENT!

dina

Is that you Coco Mademoiselle?

I purchased a sample of Parfum Royal and as soon as it hit my skin, I felt this is a fragrance I know. I had to test is again a day later, to realize this is a dupe of Coco Melle edp old formulation... the dry down is a bit variable: at times I get a fading Black Orchid and other times it's Coco Melle all the way.

I also don't find the comparison to Nuit Noor to be very precise. My nose is very sensitive to oud even if used slightly, and I detect no trace of it in Royal, while it's very prominent in NN....

Well I must admit that, though it's a classy scent, I'm disappointed to find a new important release from Elie Saab a copy of a neo classic fragrance, but at least it's half the price of the Chanel Melle!

Update: after a couple of more wears, the Black Orchid is definitely there after around 15min of applying Royal...

I LOVE this!
The dominant notes with my chemistry are rose, sandalwood and amber. The Patchouli is definitely there but more in the background, as is the vanilla. Present but not overpowering, just adding a roundness to the mix. Orange and neroli give this a delightfully fresh twist. Such a beautifully blended fragrance. It stays with you for a long time too. I sprayed it last night and can still smell it on my skin now.
I'm still to find a fragrance from this house that I don't like!

toloneneija

I know nothing about the original Le Parfum, so i can’t compare. But yesterday I tested In White, and it was almost boring comparing to Royal.
Royal have the twist. It is sophisticated, fresh ,not too sweet, and definitely not gourmand. It has something more, that I can’t describe.

Longevity and sillage are VERY good.

I'm wearing right now and I LOVE it!

Rating 5/5.

Wow, I disliked this on paper but love it on skin!

On my skin, this is a beautiful, deep dark rose with whispers of coconut in it. Sort of gives me Crystal Noir vibes, but more mature and sophisticated because of the rose.

The patchouli in this perfume is gentle and intriguing, not masculine at all. Even in hot weather, this perfume is lovely and not patchouli heavy.

dglightblue

Summer test, humid and hot.

First impression:
Orangey like candied peel, not lollies though, caramel or some sort, its clean and smooth, not dusky like the other le parfums are, I guessed their was some sort if white floral in the middle keeping things rounded and creamy.

The patch isnt in your face, very mellow, the rose isnt rosey, cant really detect, this is nicely blended.

I wondered first it reminded me of viva la juicy except thicker. Caramel only, otherwise different frag.

Good sillage, arms length, seems to be lasting well. I thought it wasanother sweet frag but takes timeneeds to develop

sarahharis7

I don’t know why, but the moment I sprayed it on it smells like mango??? It I could smell mango the whole time. But I really enjoy this one!

I'm also confused. I've tested it two times.
First time in one Douglas it was a fragrance with prominent patchouli note (patchouli present from the beginning). Very elegant.
Today I've tested it in second Douglas and it smells fruity! No patchouli!
Like cranberries + prickle pear tea (or exotic fruits tea) + sweet note (slightly cotton candy) + yeasty bready note (like cotton candy on bread - the same note as in Dolce Garden). That one is elegant too. Fruits are not sour or childish, it is not overly sweet.

rola.asad

A combination of citrus and patchouli, with a bunch of roses in the background; definitely more complex than the original, and for my nose it’s so different. Someone below mentioned the similarities between this perfume and Coco Mademoiselle, for me I can understand the mutual ingredients here and there, but when these ingredients were summed up, we got absolutely different results!!

IMHO I see “Le Parfum Royal” is more suitable for women +40; great for spring; with heavy sillage.

Angelica 000

Very, very disappointed. I honestly don't think there was enough of anything to dislike it.
I LOVE the other Saab perfumes, sadly a blind buy gone wrong.

mypersonalharmonics

Happy new year everybody! This is something to talk about. Mark my words. No matter if you love it or not,

Maia Lernout is the next big thing in perfumery. Congratulations Maia.

Saab Royal is luxurious and longlasting. It is the first truly longlasting scent with an interesting evolvement in the mass market, in quite a while. It is a Shallimar and a Poison of the 20's.

I prefer the trail on the clothes the next day than the opening, but that has always been the case with my fav perfumes.

At last a perfume that doesn't scream synthetic.

At last, not a perfume for bubbly fashionistas of the instagram. This is for women who know what inreallife used to mean.

parnpipit

It's like a toned down version of Nuit Noor, in a very pleasant way though. Easy to wear, not harsh nor offensive at all. Performance is impressive like the others in the line.

Sherine777

Close to Nuit Noor. Like a fresher version of it..
Kind of a light Orange-y Black Orchid..

Edit 09-03-2020: Tested again today, I really like it but still feel it shares a lot with Nuit Noor which I already have.. Maybe a nice discount will tempt me to get it as well :) As with all Elie Saab, Great quality and performance.

imanpower

after half hour it smells like tf black orchid....

auroramaria

While I love almost any Elie Saab fragrances I can not bear Royal.I tested it s few times just to make sure it was not me but no the patchouli in here is just too much it feels a bit messy and kinda tacky.Quite disappointing

AL8

Right after you spray it on yourself you think "Omg, what have I done?". It is a neroli-super sweet punch on your face. After 6h it mellows down, but it still carries all its violence. I love patchouli and strong perfumes, but this one is too much, in a bad way. It's a bit vulgar and intrusive. No.

lacaklacak7

first time smelling this, i picked up the familiar smell that i really love on a woman.. this is definitely a sweeter version of Chanel Coco Madamoiselle.. it has 90% similarity to Coco.. Patchouli, Mandarin orange, rose, orange blossom/neroli is the most prominent notes in both Elie Saab Le Parfum Royal & Chanel Coco Mademoiselle..

canadianpetite

Very nice and sweet but different from original Elie Saab that I own. Patchouli is intense but sweetened by amber. Similarly, the amber is usually headache inducing but in Royale, the balance is perfect and enjoyable. This scent belongs to someone who is comfortable with their loud presence. If I owned a bottle, I would enjoy it but would have to wait two hours for it to dissipate before milling with others.

Le Parfum Royal by Elie Saab is beginning to grow on me. I am a huge fan of the original, orange-blossom heavy Le Parfum, and understandably it's difficult to wipe the slate clean and not compare the original to this flanker. There are very few similarities between the two, so if you like Le Parfum you may not enjoy Le Parfum Royal.

Le Parfum Royal features a strong patchouli accord. If you don't like patchouli, walk away now. The most dominant notes to my nose, (other than the patchouli of course) include mandarin orange, neroli, rose, sandalwood and vanilla. Overall this fragrance is quite dense and opulent on the skin. The vanilla also adds an interesting creaminess in the base.

The opening is shocking at first, with the patchouli making its presence known very early on. I recommend letting the fragrance air before smelling up close. I nearly dismissed Le Parfum Royal within the first few minutes but through perseverance, I have come to enjoy the way it smells on my skin.

I need to test this fragrance a few more times before I decide to purchase. At this point, my opinions are favourable. I have always loved patchouli-based scents yet I admittedly haven't reached for them in recent years. Le Parfum Royal has reignited my adoration for patchouli and in many ways, I am grateful for the reminder.

In creating this flanker, Elie Saab has taken a few steps back from the elegant white florals and gourmands they are known for. Le Parfum Royal is a far more daring composition and is not an easy crowd-pleaser. It took a moment to grow on me and perhaps it will take some getting used to for others as well.

I'm so confused by this one because it sounds like something I should love, and I usually do love everything Elie Saab, but when I tried it I was dismayed because it smelled like sour rotten pineapple or passionfruit or something trying to be tropical. I have tried very few things in my life I would consider a 'scrubber' and I hate to be negative but this genuinely smells quite awful. I even pondered if perhaps the notes were mainly honey, but the scent pyramid has left me surprised and baffled?

I may need to re-test this to establish if perhaps it mixed with something else I was wearing or I've gotten the wrong impression....

Amour infini :)

Le Parfum Royal smells very good! But not something i would buy for me, becaouse the rose is clearly noticeable on my skin.

Sillage is impressive, longevity is great. Тhe bottle is a little bit kitschy.
I recommend it for rose lover fragrance. Perfect for cozy fall days.

vlarya

It has strong silage in the beginning and lasts well past 6 hours.

In the beginning, the mandarin and the neroli are strong. The neroli is super sweet, you can smell its nectar rather than the flower itself. Smells strongly of honey. Not so much in a gourmand way, so it can be cloying to some, I imagine.

Then past the 6th hour, it leans into a sweet patchouli, with a little bit of oriental-balsamic sandalwood in the background. Again, it remains sweet in a non-gourmand way.

I can't make out the rose in it to be honest. The vanilla in the notes doesn't make it gourmand, just explains the sweetness.

Overall it is like the original Le Parfum if it was more oriental. The packaging explains it very well.

It's already available in Germany, tested today. It exudes a leathery, middle east kind of oud feeling. I've got wafts of Angel because of the patchouli (it could be easily a flanker) but the orange blossom / neroli extract from Elie Saab DNA is definitely there. I find It totally unisex, for formal night time events. It screams high class, but not loud, it melts like a second skin, a silky veil into the darkness of the night..
I used to get the same vibe with givenchy very irresistible l'intense, this one was constructed around the rose instead.

raiza1990

Tested it today. A representant of Elie Saab came to our store to present it. i like it. It really smells majestic. It is different from the other offerings from Saab and from other designers too. It smells sweet, but it is not gourmand. The sweetness is more natural, deep, almost woody. i don't really know how to describe it. Anyway, it is not a crowd pleaser and not a fragrance for a shy woman. It is a perfume to wear when you want others to remeber you. One needs some time to get used to it, but it is pleasant. i will gladly wear it again when it comes to our shelves in september.
Final note: 9/10
Try it if you like rich, sensual fragrances.

mshilov

Just tried it in Oman. The bottle decoration is a little bit kitsch but the scent is rich, warm and enveloping, it definitely deserves it's name.
