Melon, Peony & Oakmoss...
This is one of those aquatic fruity-florals that hearken back to a time perhaps a little earlier than the 2014 release date. Opens with melon with fruity, fresh, aquatic, citrus & sweet tones. That transitions to the peony-magnolia heart, and already the oakmoss & honey are swelling through. Nectarine continues the fruity facets, while violet leaf amps the fresh & aquatic tones with ozonic elements. Oakmoss here blends with peony in a manner similar to an oakmoss-rose blend, while honey is a fresher light version of honey, similar to Honey Marc Jacobs, although it doesn't have the crunchy hay facets of honeysuckle - except maybe late into the drydown but that could be my imagination. In the long drydown, some faint woody tones from sandalwood emerge. This isn't a dupe of anything, but I would put about half-way between Honey Marc Jacobs and L'Eau d'Issey Issey Miyake. I also get reminders of Pretty Elizabeth Arden, Reaction Kenneth Cole & Paris Hilton Paris Hilton. Performance is about average for a spring-summer wearing experience. Enjoy!

Saved from an unsuccessful blind buy by my sister.
Right before I pulled the trigger on this one I remembered that she had this fragrance and asked to borrow it for a day.
Bottom line is that this is just too tangy for me.
More and more I'm realizing that black current is a problematic note for me.
In Joyful it combines with melon - a note I'm generally fine with - to create something that is too fruity/sweet for me in a syrupy way. The melon here is not fresh: if anything it smells overripe.
I just can't get past these fruity top notes. They dominate the scent for me to the point that I can't smell the florals at all, or anything woody or mossy at the base either.
Hard pass for me unfortunately.

Upon encountering a lady wearing this perfume, I was immediately captivated by its alluring fragrance, prompting me to follow her and inquire about the scent she was wearing. In my personal experience, following your nose can lead you to discover new and delightful fragrances that appeal to you. However, I am not here to convince you of my preferences or persuade you to try this perfume. The only way to determine if this fragrance is right for you is to sample it for yourself. Based on my experience, I highly recommend giving it a try.

This perfume is perfect for transitioning seasons, particularly spring and early autumn, where the air is still crisp and cool. It is the ideal scent for those times when you want something lighter and more refreshing than your typical fall or winter fragrances. The ingredients are potent yet light, giving off a "spring-autumn" feel, but it may be too overpowering for extremely hot summer days during the first hour or so of wear.

Many negative reviews may be due to people not waiting long enough to let the fragrance unfold and enter the dry-down phase, which is absolutely enchanting. This perfume could be worn year-round and could even become a signature fragrance due to its versatility and appeal.

The perfume is primarily floral-based, with a sweet and sour note, making it more playful and fun than other fragrances. While I usually prefer more serious scents, I fell in love with this one and Delina De Marly, which has a similar dynamic. The first sweet and sour perfume I tried was Noir Tease by Victoria's Secret, and both these fragrances have received numerous compliments, with people approaching me to inquire about the scent.

When reading reviews, it is crucial to consider the genre of the perfume and determine whether it aligns with your preferences. If the perfume is outside of your typical genre, it may not be worth trying unless you are willing to explore and experiment with new scents. Every individual has a particular perfume profile, and chemistry is everything when it comes to finding the perfect fragrance.

If you appreciate fun, bright, and playful florals with a sweet and sour blend, this perfume is definitely worth trying. However, if this fragrance is not your preference, it is best to state that upfront in your review rather than giving it a negative rating. Overall, this is an exceptional fragrance that I have grown to love and highly recommend.

-------------
Revision - after wearing this 3 weeks, in the early spring...

I really love this perfume after the first 45 minutes to an hour of wear.
This goes on a bit abrasive, so the first minutes of wear are super strong and other people who are sensitive to certain fragrances, may find the notes in this a bit too harsh. I would spray this while you are putting on your makeup and doing your hair... let this calm down before leaving the house.

As with a lot of perfumes - the dry down becomes much better than the first spray.
This is the stage where I receive the most compliments.
This smells almost identical to the Creed Spring Flowers perfume that Audrey Hepburn wore (in my first review of this perfume, I did a comparative analysis of these two perfume when worn side by side).

There is a freshness to this which reminds me of wearing a crisp white shirt in the spring/summer - with denim or another casual type style.

------------

I wore this perfume several weeks, almost a month - to really test this and see other people's responses to this. The first hour of wear is BOLD, I would normally spray this - and wait 45 minutes to an hour before wearing this in public.

This perfume is a bit quirky -
It is unusual, and is not a "crowd pleaser"... as much as it is a novelty.
Yes, I personally still like it - but I will probably choose to wear this on days when I am not in an enclosed space.

This smells so much like Creed's perfume - Spring Flower.
I tried them side by side, there are times when this smells identical to Spring Flower.

My first impression of this perfume was asking a woman what she was wearing -
The dry down phase of this perfume allows the magic to unfold. Don't judge this one too harshly in the first minutes of wear. The dry down is where this one really comes to life!

It doesn’t smell expensive, but I don’t think it smells cheap either. Worth of $22 fot 2.4oz. If you’re sensitive to synthetic notes, you’ll not like it, especially opening is strong synthetic magnolia, but after 30 minutes synthetic feel fades a way. It’s sweet/sour fun, cheerful, happy, energetic, sparkly, bubbly, loud, fresh ( not in soapy way). It’s over all more floral than fruity. My biggest complain is juice in the bottle, color is gray-ish purple not pink. UPDATE; I just came back to add that this perfume is a monster, it’s immortal on my skin and clothes and has little bit too strong projection. If I spray it in the morning I come home 5 hours later I can smell it in the house.

Dazed_and_confused

I bought this because Miranda Kerr was a face of this campaign and at that point I wanted to be like her, so beautiful and elegant, so clearly, the marketing campaign got me :D I also love peonies, but once I actually sprayed this on myself I realised that I love the flower but I hate it in perfumes. This was headache inducing, and that is a rare occasion for me as I tolerate most perfumes. Overly sweet, synthetic and overall just no. Bottle is ugly as well.

twiztidladii

Aquatic but I also smell a strong note of just plain fresh green leaves. There’s also a slight vodka-ish note but that may be from shipping. I think I would’ve liked it if that green leaf note was toned down.

Skinscents4Fusspots

I really don't like this and I'm not sure why because the top and middle notes are right up my street normally. I think it reminds me of really old fashioned perfumes with a fruit salad chucked in. Plus the dry down starts to lean masculine to my nose... maybe the sandalwood and moss combo?!

Not for me but clearly a hit with most other people!

This is a perfume that I found when someone walked by wearing this. This is so upbeat, positive, fun, charming, happy-go-lucky. She gave me the name of the perfume and it took several months before I placed an order for a sample of this.

The value is great on this perfume.

Before Covid, I wore perfumes that were more sophisticated and elegant - and rarely did I seek a perfume that was just FUN and brought an instant smile to my face. This is the type of perfume that wasn't really on my radar, till going through Covid Quarantine. Can anyone else relate?

This is similar to Burberry Body EDP, both are in the upper soprano register and have an optimistic, upbeat vibe to them. Pleasures by Estee Lauder would probably be in this general fragrance family.

I'm still sampling this now, but so far so good!

---------

I've test sampled this beside Creed's Spring Flower -

This is spot on, almost identical to the general impression of Spring Flower.
The challenge here is in the longevity. I have not yet timed this to where I know the length this wears, but this is one that you will want to refresh probably every 2-4 hours.
Spring Flower doesn't last all that long either, but is really a beautiful perfume.

Both are so similar that it would take an expert to tell which one is which.

----------

Update -

Escada Joyful is a good dupe for Creed's Spring Flower for the first hour or so of wear.
Spring Flower is much more long lasting than Escada's dupe, Joyful.
I have not had a chance to monitor this hour by hour, but if you purchase Joyful, expect to carry this in your purse because it will need a refresher to last longer.

I ordered "The One" by Dolce & Gabanna - and it is surprisingly close to Joyful by Escada. It is almost as if they two share some of the basic notes within the chord, but "The One" has more vanilla, is slightly sweeter and less sweet/sour/bitter than Joyful by Escada.

Pinkpetaldance

Very pretty scent! It's a very linear, fresh, green, floral on my skin. It smells like a luxury shampoo to me, so it's nice to spray right out of the shower. Doesn't last very long at all, I usually only smell it on my skin 2-4 hours after applying.

Remalda

The perfect spring summer perfume. It last so many hours. I wear it to feel good. Its so special , cant go wrong with this.

fancyvivid

My late father gifted me this when I was 19, which is now 7 years ago. Initially, I didn't like it and deemed it "too girly" as I wanted a more mature perfume. However, it has since become one of my favorites. The melon note is definitely what sticks out the most when I wear it. I even had a friend remark that I always smell pleasantly of melon. The perfume is foremost fresh and fruity, with very delicate and subtle floral notes underneath and a slight sweetness grounding it. Even though the melon is somewhat dominant, nothing in this scent is overpowering and it is very much an easy to like and pleasant scent.

YouseiPrince

When i first saw this perfume, i felt like i knew exactly what to expect: a very soft, subtle, sweet-floral perfume. And i was right. This perfume is nothing more than that exactly haha. Its a very generic and pleasant scent that doesnt really stand out by any means. Even with the promises of such enticing fruity scents like Melon and Black Current (which i love), it doesnt really go past a super floral-ozonic peony scent. Overall id say this is not a perfume to wear if you want to impress or stand out. Its a very basic scent that is perfect for work environments or pretty much anywhere that a “louder” scent would be unacceptable/inappropriate. Fortunately i bought this perfume for that exact reason haha as a work perfume. And i think it works perfect for that! So as simple as it is, i definitely think it has a time and place. Even if that time and place isn’t the most exciting thing in the world haha.

karinatfragrantica

Is is a pleasant enough smell, airy, spring peonies, but quite weak and really poor longevity (30 Min max on the skin, a bit longer on clothes...)

Carpe Noctem

It’s nice, pleasant, office friendly and not likely to offend.

I get aquatic notes, melon and some light pretty florals.

If you are between this and Creed’s Spring Flowers, go for this one. I get a very urinous note with Creed’s SFs, while this one is a very pretty, light, fun perfume.

inspe13

It's a huge disappointment for me that was caused partially by Fragrantica. I trust the main accords they list, but unfortunately, here I can feel neither freshness, nor ozonic notes, nor aquatic.
I'm only lucky I bought a mini.
This perfume smells like a musty flowery soap. I was expecting a fresh miracle like Fly High from Mexx, but got nothing of a similar kind.

Mynotaur

Cheap and cheerful blind buy. Honestly, I was searching for those old tropical Escada fragrances but they seem to no longer fashionable! Well, Joyful is a playful yet safe little fragrance with more punch that I originally thought. It’s fruity/floral but there’s a sharp citrus cutting through. Maybe a little too sharp at the top notes. It’s settles though, to something that’s definitely inoffensive but also, nothing special. I would say, especially for the price, that this fragrance is absolutely fine and okay. A good one for a handbag or travel, when you don’t want to risk losing something more precious. Not a stand out fragrance but you could take it to an office or out to dinner. For the low cost, I’m not unhappy :-)

Rkzz84

I bought this without trying it and I’m so glad I did. It’s fruity summery Fresh and reminds me abit of the Clinique happy. It actually lasted longer then I expected. I’m not a big fan of d&g light blue but it has similar notes I much rather prefer this though it’s a little sweeter and less citrusy.

Escada Joyful is such a surprise - a wonderful surprise! You can't tell from the box, but the bottle is beautiful. The scent is very spring - bright, fresh flowers. It is a classic - its transformation from top note to heart notes to base notes are obvious over time.

It has been said that it smells very similar to Creed Spring Flower and it does. I have both and have done a direct comparison - they both change as they dry down and are slightly different in the process but, by the end, it is difficult to tell them apart. This has been a wonderful find - I'm on my second bottle. Joyful is so airy that you might think it doesn't have longevity but people comment long after I can not smell it anymore. In my opinion, it is the perfect scent to welcome in spring - I really enjoy wearing it.

ApplePear

Bottle is cute. Fragrance heavy on the Yuzu scent which cuts the fresh and floweriness. Too much for my liking. I like fresh flowers and usually like Escada but this one is a miss. At least it was cheap at Chemist warehouse.

Annie_OK

The notes look phenomenal. I should have loved this. And granted, this is probably the wrong time of year for this fragrance, but wow, is this harsh. It's primarily green, but in a strident and screechy way. Yeesh. No thanks. (FYI: Stamp on the bottom label is "7101").

Also, the bottle wasn't filled all the way! At first I thought someone had used or removed 10% of the volume, but I can tell this wasn't a return - the cellophane was undisturbed - not taped or re-glued.

On the plus side, I really like the bottle. I love simple glass bottom-heavy bottles like this. The embossed logos on top of the cap, the neck of the bottle, and even the bottom of the bottle are nice touches, and the cap reminds me of a cylindrical clutch handbag with gold accents.

justfloral

Very aquatic, fruity CHYPRE. Not sweet at all.

Ozonic aquatic almost mentholated melon ("Cool Water melon") + some blackcurrant berries + salty earthy moss and cedar wood (cosmetic bag full of pencils, sun heated pine cones, lysol).

It smells like bag fruity jelly bears (Haribo) opened in the middle of a forest

The fruity-moss note reminds me Dalimix Salvador Dali, Waterfalls Cindy Crawford, Touch Burberry.

Rianna

On first spray it's quite fresh and aquatic and I think I can smell earthy moss and blackcurrent. I don't really like the first spray at all. After about ten minutes though on the skin it develops into a delicious subtle very clean smell consisting of sweet nectarine and magnolia with a hint of sandalwood and peony. I wouldn't overspray this. A little on the wrists though and maybe a hint on your clothes and you've got a winner. I think the moss note keeps it very clean and fresh. Nothing worse than warm sweaty florals at the end of the working day. This is a smell that's going to last all day but not over power. You'll get little wafts and say 'Oooh what's that smell? Oh it's me!' This perfume is the epitome of a feminine lady and I think it can be worn by any age it just screams pretty lady!!

Note: Some say that this smells like Creed Spring Flowers, I headed over to my local House of Fraser and tested the Creed SF smell. Answer- At first spray Creed SF is strong! After it settles down it does indeed smell just like Joyful. Conclusion - If you want to smell like Lana Del Ray then buy Escada and save yourself £130!! :)

Alces Alces

Peonies for me are not associated with spring because I have mostly lived where it was too hot to grow them. Peonies are associated with the Estee Lauder cosmetic counter at my local mall, where I first encountered them in Pleasures, and later with Avon's Peony Soft Musk. In other words, the scent of peonies is linked in my mind with perfume discovery, that joy you get when inhaling a wonderful scent for the first time.

Escada Joyful smells like a busy, buzzing cosmetics department in an upscale store. It's like a bouquet of ephemeral top notes with no particular nucleus, just fleeting bits of peony and blackcurrant. The blackcurrant is responsible for what some people perceive as an apple note. A vague, hazy, indefinite perfume scent, but clean, fresh, and girly. The only similarity to Daisy is in the violet leaf which does give both scents a green accord. For the most part, Joyful is peony with a slight fruity bite.

There's freesia here, but it's not listed. Still, I think I smell a little bit of that fizzy freesia so popular in the early 2000's. Joyful is not dated, but it's not a timeless classic either. Wear this when you want a light, uplifting not-too-serious flowery smell.

Longevity is about 4 hours; sillage is soft, but you can amp that up by spraying more. Not as fruity as Escada scents usually are, a real plus.

If you already have peony florals (Eclat d'Arpege, Pleasures Eau Fraiche, Avon Haiku Kyoto Flower, or any of 100 others), you probably do not need this. Would make a great SAFE gift because it's inoffensive.

Alisaaa131

Testing a sample at the moment, I get a very green cantaloupe, maybe it's the rind and not the actual fruit.
Once it settles I can smell the florals, the peony, and magnolia.
This is surprisingly fresh, coming from Escada.
A very pretty, slightly sweet floral scent which reminds me of Marc Jacob's Daisy in a way.
It's one of those "smells nice but not memorable" fragrances.

Sarahanndapose

I smell absolutely no melon! At first spray it's strong chemical flowers but very quickly changes to a more natural quiet flowery smell. I see so many comments saying the longevity is crap but I sprayed one spray before bed (8:30pm) and could still smell it on my skin at work the next morning. It reminds me of Narsisso Rodriguez for her but less powdery. It's the girliest fragrance I can think of but sadly no fruit, I was kinda looking to smell like melon, but I still like it!

muahah

First thought was green apple soap bar. After some time I felt ozonic note, melon and lovely floral. Maybe there is something joyful about it, maybe you feel happy after bath. It's clean and light, but it's nothing so special and very soapy. Can fit everyday.

iamoir

Terrible longevity for an EDP. Sits very close to the skin. This is a bad Escada. Perfume for 5 year olds. It is vague, watery, something ozonic too. Reminds me of an even more watered down version of Miracle Lancome. The floral, magnolia in this case, does shine through, but it doesn't settle. It's way too ozonic and fleeting.
Just don't waste your money on this, don't.

bronni666

i have a sample vial and its summer in australia which i think is a good time to review joyful.
on me, i can smell violets and green notes. its very fresh and uplifting. its a slightly sweet floral and at the moment... i like it.

update to come..

no longevity or silage i'm afraid :(

Labellamiea

I usually love Escada, but this one for me was not too "Joyful". You first smell the subtle sweetness of the mandarin and melon. Not too sweet like "candy" or citrusy. It starts to dry down and you smell the sandalwood and light hints of the "sweetness" from the honey. It has a very plastic and cheap finish at the end.

Jmelz76

First smelled this at kohl's and I fell in love with it. I'm a fan of escada but this just smells so pretty and fresh.

SheShe

I have a sample and I'm glad that I haven't got a full bottle as I'm disappointed with this fragrance.
I like some Escadas, f. ex. Magnetism, but this one isn't for me. I can detect mainly melon on my skin :( This fragrance has many ingredients but they don't develop much! Mainly melon, a little blackcurrant, moss, that's all.
Escada isn't much 'Joyful' here. It's cold, like a cold fruit with a floral hint. I detect a weak note of honey in the end but it isn't a sweet fragrance. There's a chemical note in this fragrance, I don't like this. Actually I was thinking about washing the fragrance off but I managed.
I don't know who could be a 'marketing target'. Somebody who likes cold, fresh, fruity scents, not sweet?
The sillage is moderate and the fragrance lasts for more than 6 hours on me.

miaye.tun

My imagination
A girl who is in her teenage years, who is interested in sports probably tennis or lacrosse. she is very confident and proud but she isn't serious about anything. That's the kind of girl I imagine to wear this perfume
It's a very young girl fragrance and lacks of depth. The sillage is sweet and perfect but lonegevity is about 1-3 hr ( I tested on my wrist).
The scent is floral floral ( not floral fruity):(. After a while it smells aquatic to me but the dry down is even better than the 1 st scent

anis_karma

This is lovely floral scent.

Oamae

The first thing I notice is that melon note! It's very unusual so it got my attention. As it dries, it ends up smelling to me a bit like shampoo, floral/fruity shampoo but I find it a tad more interesting than some other shampoo scents I've come across. For some reason, I am instantly transported to the memories I have of spending spring/late summers in San Francisco, especially in touristy areas where there is a lot of people, lots of noise, lots of things to do, so much to see, all while the ocean is in the background. So to sum things up, it's an unoffensive, floral/fruity scent, but has something special to it. I wonder what it is! I like it, and this isn't usually the kind of scents I wear.

Bermuda bliss

Just love this !! It s fresh happy and well ,just buy it!!! It makes me feel like being out in a botanical garden!!! Only negative is the longevity !!! :(

OrientalFruityGourmand

Thanks to @verdigris for this sample of Escada Joyful.

My primary interest in Joyful is the dry down. I really enjoy the sweet, creamy, earthy honeyed sandalwood of the base. The three noted of the base are the triad of beauty to my nose.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the magnolia/peony middle at all.

Joyful opens with sharp floral honeydew in the intro. The fresh, honeyed melon is very noticeable for several hours. Within 5 min, the magnolia and peony become very intense on my skin. The Magnolia is a formidable southern belle, working the room and forcing all to pay attention to her. She makes her presence known like Dolly Parton in the movie Steel Magnolias. You instantly recognize her and she commands your attention! Joyful takes about 3 hours to settle on my body. During those three middle hours, the sillage fills a room with magnolia and peony (still melon is present). As I said, this is the phase I do not enjoy.

After the middle fades, I finally find the phase I like. Initially I wanted to scrub Joyful off my skin. (First day of testing, I actually did scrub it at the two hour mark) I'm glad I waited it out on days 2-4 of testing. The base makes me feel cozy again and again. The magnolia is still faintly floral through the base, but only barely. The Oakmoss and honey really harmonize with the sandalwood, giving me sensual, earthy warmth.

Joyful lasts about 8 hours on me, half of which is the dry down phase I enjoy.

Would I buy this? No.
Why not? Takes too long to settle. The middle is too floral for my tastes. The base sits too close to my body. I already own several scents that express the same sentiments as this base but with greater projection and less magnolia.

If you are a fan of magnolia, you may enjoy Escada Joyful.

Oh I wanted to fell in love with it.fruity.happy.fresh.summer.
And what I feel it's sharp notes .maybe green apple like at dkny ,but not sure.

Lemonade?nope.fruity?maybe but it's to loud at beginning .just not good for my type of skin .

alfa.lázcares

I am a bit surprised by the reviews on this. Yes, it is a fruty floral, and it might be boring to some, but it still a nice scent, its not like it stinks or something. At least to me.
I got this one in the Sephora sampler and I really thought I was not gonna like it since I really don't like other Escada scents I've tried because they are way too sweet and very artificial-fruity, I'm also not a fan of Miranda, so I had zero expectations.
However this one was a surprise. Yes it is sweet but not overly. It is fruty: on me I smell the melon, and is not THAT artificial. It also smells flowery and I get the comparison to Be Delicious but to me this one is a bit less crisp and I don't detect any apple or citrus. It is fresh but cozy. And it dryes down to powdery flowers. And thankfully the fruits on this one do not smell like candy, which is the case on some other Escadas.
This got a very decent sillage and on me lasts a good 7-8 hours. I could still smell it when I showered.
It is not surprising (unless you expected to hate it like me) but it is a happy scent, quite unnofensive, fresh, clean and a bit sweet.

beedi84

I love this perfume and perfumes like it! Fresh, floral, crisp, summery and light! When I wear it I feel fresh and happy. The scent throw is great for a couple of hours. It then starts to cling closer to the skin and on me it actually lasts for a whole day. Love it!

Livvy111

Apple and Rose. Very similar to DKNY apple. Thats all I get. Longevity is terrible. Burst of freshness- quite young. Not one I would think of purchasing....

Coffee King

I think if you like Estee Lauder's Modern Muse you'd like this, quite a bright white floral. It is a very pretty floral fragrance, nice blend of white flowers and aquatic notes, only problem here is the longevity, it isn't that great, it does literally start to fade after about an hour, it doesn't exactly project well either.

suhaesa

WATERY - I can´t detect any of the items advertised; only watery flower element - so: wear it coastside environments. That´s my suggestion!

Dclxvi

When I first sprayed it on, it reminded me of Marc Jacobs Daisy but more mellow, which I loved. I enjoy Daisy but it's a bit floral for me.

After about an hour of wear, I smelled like I had worn a men's fragrance. Not even a hint of the original scent! I was really disappointed, I hoped it would be nice all the way through :(

milipudding

Smells like a typical generic fruity floral. Clean, kind of Marc Jacob-ish... It's so boring with no character at all. Not particular fond, but don't hate either. It's a very inoffensive scent. I keep the little sampler vial at work and dab a little bit on whenever I feel like it and it's OK. While the combination with the melon and the magnolia and some citrus might be unique, there's probably a good reason why...

distortech

Very, VERY sweet "in your face" floral with a sharpness I find not too pleasant. I can see this being worn by the early teenage crowd more than anything. It' very light and airy (the sillage is nuclear) with the florals (all sickly sweet and cloying) mingling with a fruity melonish fresh sharpness that many might find appealing in said age group. Overall the construction fits more for spring/summer wear than fall/winter. Most importantly, it's not one for those looking for the refinement of classic perfume. It contains no surprises. It's more for the types that like their body spray to knock everyone over for several dozen feet, but don't want to reapply every hour or so.

moaS

Well, it's very boring. Nothing special. Green apple and "citrusy" scents can be found for a lot cheeper imo. Joyful doesn't even last long on the skin :(

tinaelisa

It has a Be Delicious vibe (the green apple). But with less apple. Instead more green and more fresh, floral. Good, but prefer Be Delicious.

mister_chaz

Smells like air freshener.

Lettukestit

Ooh I really like it! It's fresh, yet soft and feminine. To me this smells like quality. Romantic, flowery, tiny bit powdery. Youthful.

lat

This fragrance is plain, vacant, yet self-absorbed and narcissistic, just like the model who happens to be the face of it.
Sorry but I'm not sorry.

Arlene-Beatrix

Fresh floral scent, good for spring and summer. I can smell a lot of violet leaf which is pleasant even if normally I am not a big fan of green scents.
Is it joyful? Possibly yes, but for me it is just spring in a bottle.

HanamiTsukimi

This smells very much like a Lysol air freshener. About the only person I can imagine this making joyful is Monk.

After recieving this as a sample a few days ago I urge ESCADA to release this in the UK! This may be ''safe'' fruity floral fragrance but it is still unique to some extent. To me this smells melony and aquatic with some floral/citrus/fruity notes. This scent has a certain 1990s vibe to it which brings back memeries of wonderful (discontinued) fragrances like L'eau de Eden by Cacherel, Dalimix by Salvadore Dali, Blue Romance by Escada and Laura by Laura Biagotti.

The bottle is simple but it is very beautiful and modern!

Honestly I have tried almost all the fragrances available in all the stores by now and none of them come close to Joyful at least here in the UK. It seems to be all over the shops in the USA and none of their customers even like it! In the USA they have much more variety of fragrances than many of us in other countries which is all the more reason why this Escada fragrance should be released here in the UK where I can guarantee we will be more accepting of it!

I believe except from love, like, dislike it should be a category like "nothing special" or "not like, either dislike" or "meh" os something similar. There are a lot of perfumes that I don't dislike, but I don't say that I really like them or I would want to buy them, but I end up choosing the like button, since there is not something else. Anyway, I would say that this characterization goes for this Joyfull. I got a test sample and I also tried it in the cosmetics store. It is kind of generic. Reminds me a little of Pleasure and a little of a H&M perfume called "Secret Garden". Although it doesn't last long and the sillage is not strong either. Anyway it is kind of generic floral perfume

Didokitty

Very synthetic fragrance smelling like a fragrance. Why this was even made?

ScarlettX

It smells a little plain to me. There's this floral soapy freshness that comes from peony. And melon doesn't make it any better either. I expected this to be more sweet.
Very ordinary fragrance, quite boring like many other aquatic floral scents.
I wouldn't even think about buying it.

mirisfrik

For me it's pure magnolia. If you're looking for that type of scent go for it.

Enye

I expected much more of this. It's simply boring. There are thousands fragrances like this already. And somehow it's too close of the Especiallys as well. And I agree, there isn't anything "Joyful" about this fragrance. It doesn't stand out at all, it's just... Dull. Boo Escada, how could you?!

AND-MAT

I am affraid this is a failure! Escada, that's used to bring each summer limited editions like cherry in the air, taj sunset, island paradise, etc... is failing to produce a decent spring, summer scent that is here to stay! And I am really surprised!! Those limited editions are fun, sexy, delicious and JOYFUL! How on earth JOYFUL ended up so grim?

It's initial blast is good, it promises a playful fruity fragrance with a lot of peach, melon and black currant with a touch of citruses! Just after the initial blast, the flowers makes themselves known with the magnolia shining brightest. However, it quickly settles into a skin scent barely noticed by the nose that lasts for a maximum of 4 hours!

It says here that the base consists of honey, moss and sandalwood but I am affraid that I failed to smell any of the base ingredients... No honey, no sandalwood and definitely no moss!!

In the end, Joyful promises a lot but delivers a little... Disappointing fragrance Escada!

I am amazed at all the people saying that this is a typical fruity floral. There may be a tonne of fruity florals on the market now but not all of them smell the same! I challenge those to name a popular ''nowadays'' fragrance that has the combination of melon, nectarine and magnolia? The floral fruity group has such a wide scope and there are still endless possiblities for creating unique scents. However it is always the good fruity florals that get discontinued!

Edit: Does anyone remember the wonderful Blue Romance fragrance from this brand all the way back from 1995 when they had a brilliant collection of summer limited editions? The notes are very similar. Perhaps this new Escada Joyful is Blue Romance reincarnated almost 20 years later. Those were the days when owning Escada fragrances made you...... Joyful!

Yosa

Received a tester of Joyful this morning, and I have to say I really like it! Could not really identify the individual notes in it, but as a whole it smells feminine, flowery, light and simply pleasant - even pretty!

Perhaps not the most original stand-out fragrance, but something that is easy to wear and fits all occasions!

It indeed gives a positive and joyful feeling, as the description says. And hey, they chose the perfect face for it too - Miranda Kerr!

Mandana

Absolutely dreadful, sorry but there is nothing "joyful" about this fragrance after I had tried it in the store today! I was very disappointed, it smelled strangely "cold and fruity" on my wrist, like unripe fruit left in a fridge, weird. I got immediately this unpleasantly strong scent of fruit and flowers which never developed or settled into anything else, despite all the other complex notes in the perfume. The packaging was lovely and the name is great but the perfume itself does not suit me at all.

Frayja

OK.
Just OK.
Like too many others out there.
