Escentric 02 by Escentric Molecules is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Escentric 02 was launched in 2008. The nose behind this fragrance is Geza Schoen.

Escentric 02 together with Molecule 02 represents the second completely synthetic fragrance pair, launched by Escentric Molecules. This time it was inspired by the basic scented component of grey amber, ambroxan. It is placen in the centre. The rest of the composition, just like in Escentric 01, is composed out of artful copies of the natural ingredients: a scent identical to the real musk - muscone, beautiful hedione (smells like jasmine), elderflower extract and orris. The fragrance is light with a shining and brisk opening (elderflower and hedoine) and a pleasantly warm finish. Read more about ambroxan here. The perfume was launched in 2008.

Smells a little bit like chopped carrots in the loveliest way.

vipariously

An intriguing humid sweetness. Leans more masculine.

Too sweet for my taste.

Heliotrope72

Rating: 😳🤕
Do I like it: Meh
Who it is: an anxious mother peeling lemons for lemon cake on a Sunday next to the laundry rack
Smells I get: lemon, cedar, musk, fabric softener accord, dry amber
Meyer's Briggs type: ISTJ, ESTJ

A more zesty, sharper version of Byredo's Gypsy Water. Currently I have Escentric 02 on my left hand and Gypsy Water on my right hand, and while Gypsy water is smoother and more ambery sweet, and Escentric is more fizzy and musky, the vibe would dictate that if a person loves A, they would probably at least tolerate B. Drydown is 80% similar.

Smells like a lemon peel and cedar on my skin, with bits of fuzzy, sharp musk popping up from time to time. A very shy smelly liquid, but quite sharp on the nose up close - a zesty synthetic ambermusk.

It's probably good for warmer weather, but thanks to the citrusy facet I'm keen to skip on this, as it (per usual) gives me a slight headache. For what it's worth, it doesn't veer into the cleaning liquid territory, so I think I'd enjoy it if my body didn't dislike it.

colcjf

Orange peel, grapefruit, woodiness. Citrus opening with a quiet floral dry down…the notes and accords are way off here. Just look at the listed ingredients, it’s clearly citrusy

km9699

After a brief citrusy opening, this smells straight-up like new rubber tires to me.

Each "Molecule" scent has a "Escentric" counterpart, forming a "binary pair". The Escentrics consist of the same concentration of the aromachemical of the corresponding "Molecule", alongside other notes selected to enhance it. In the case of Molecule and Escentric 02, it is ambroxan. I was excited to try M02, as ambroxan is such a common note in modern perfumery, and I had never smelled it on its own before this. However, to repeat what happened with 01, I am anosmic to Molecule 02 on my skin (so had to take my cues from the paper test strip and fabric), but I can smell Escentric 02 on my skin.

Escentric 02 is quite similar to Escentric 01 - a linear scent that features citrus notes on top of the synthetic, musky, amber-y base. Here it is orange, instead of E01's lemon. I smell Iso-E-Super here, alongside some of the creamy woodiness of ambroxan, but the ambroxan is overshadowed, relegated to the background. It seems I can smell both molecules alongside other notes when on my skin, just not on their own.

I can't smell any iris here unfortunately. Some synthetic, musky jasmine rounds it out as it progresses, adding to the warm muskiness. It becomes slightly salty and animalic as it dries down, but remains synthetic and strangely clean. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting - it lingers for hours. It is a unisex warm weather scent - given the dominant citrus notes, it reads as a freshie. It is safe and pleasant, but is linear, subtle and ultimately is nothing special.

I'm not overly enamoured with the Escentric components of the binary pairs so far. They are supposed to showcase the central aromachemical using complementary notes, but here the Iso-E-Super overpowers the ambroxan, which is supposed to be centre-stage, rendering this exercise somewhat confused. All of this aside, the composition itself is nothing special. I understand the intrigue of the Molecules (futuristic, abstract minimalism), but the Escentrics so far have feel pointless. I prefer this to Escentric 01 however. 2.5/5.

I'm having a freshie moment and this fragrance is hitting the spot. I don't know why but recently I've been drawn into citrus & ambroxan scents and I stumbled upon this at a store. It's so intriguing and different - to my nose it's soapy and very warm citrusy. The performance is great and the projection is ample for a molecule fragrance. It smells fresh and clean without smelling chemically (which is ironic as this brand is fully synthetic). The others from the brand are more weird than pretty - this one is both weird and pretty. Great on its own, or layers beautifully with Versace Eros Pour Femme. I can also see it working well to layer with Le Labo's Bergamot 22 (for an amplified citrus freshie), or with Le Labo's Another 13 (for a musky ambergris kick). It smells very masculine from the atomizer but once on skin it's unisex.

ZorbaTheBuddha29

Beautiful and clean scent for everyday use. The longevity and silage are a disaster. This one is meant for close encounters or for people who like their perfumes to not announce their arrival.

giri-boni

Nostalgic somehow… very é chic.

FreeBeing

I got this and Molecule 02 (blind buys) in decants and I am so glad I didn't splurge on full bottles. This one is too masculine on me but I would love that scent on a man. (The Molecule 02 is one I will buy again and again.)

Aygyun

It’s smells good, but it feels a little outdated. It’s like I’m taken back to early 2000s.

Tiffanwy

This is my go to summer fragrance. It's like walking through a garden on a summer day, after an epic rainstorm.
Opening notes are powdery & floral, in an almost fruity way, with a sensual, musky heart.
The Ambroxan lays low, giving room for the iris & jasmine notes to come through whilst at the same time, anchoring them. When I notice this fragrance on myself, it smells really fresh, on my friend, it smells deeper & musky.
I love the way this fragrance opens up. It's perfectly rounded and elegant and always makes me feel happy.

Josu01

Aroma perception is highly subjective, but for me, Escentric 02 is a delicate sensual smell. It is crystal clear, bright, lively, citrusy, and unquestionably light and fresh; excellent for when you want to smell good after a shower in the Summer heat.

Escentric 02 gives me with a sensation of cleanliness and well-being that is difficult to rationalize. It feels good on my skin. The Iso-E-Super with its limitless woody note, gives it a nice masculine feeling, with great longevity on my skin.
Big love and really a dumb reach in hot weather.

Sponspon

Unfortunately this smells like celery on my skin, I don't know why. Ambroxan and Iso are mixing well with my skin chemistry, but this was a miss :(

elyazyasnose

accidentally bought this when i intended to buy molecule 02, i don’t get any floral, it smells like citrus to me, but in a masculine way.

colbyp

I bought a sample on Ministry of Scent and I am very disappointed. Another reviewer said that they might have had a bad batch? I’m not 100% sure either, but this fragrance was terrible.

I’m a fan of molecule 02. It’s a nice layering scent that is simple and easy to wear at work. I’m not sure where escentric 02 went wrong, but I ONLY get an overwhelming smell of celery on my skin. It’s heavy, clunky, and metallic smelling. I understand why some equate escentric 02 to a Bloody Mary. (It reminds me of how some say Le Labo Santal 33 smells like pickles. 😅)

I don’t get any ambroxan or floral notes. I’m not sure if it’s the iso E super as I haven’t really experimented with that note, but something about escentric 02 went wrong.

These more molecular fragrances can be a hit or miss with how they’re perceived. Molecular notes tend to vary depending on your nose and body chemistry. While that can be said for really any fragrance, it’s especially prevalent in this genre of fragrances. Everyone will pick up on random notes that vary drastically from person to person. Definitely a wild card!

Molecule 02 is a safe blind buy (ambroxan is generally well perceive), but I would suggest buying a sample of escentric 02.

firstmate423

I was sooo looking forward this and was very disappointed! Maybe I got a bad batch? I get no fresh or light notes, all I can smell is celery?? Reminds me of a Bloody Mary with a celery stick. Definately a scrubber for me. 😕

marie.pacesova

I love it ! To me it evokes a luxury freshness. I can definitely pick up the floral notes first minutes and then it settles down into a lovely ambroxan amber combo, which is so perfect, especially for summer months, when you don't like to use your usually beast mode heavy fragrance, but still smell good and original. You can pick up the iso super, but not that minimalistic like in Molecule 01. Its interesting, that nobody complimented me, when I wear it, but always, when my husbands uses E2 I am walking behind him and sniff :-)

LibraBling

Gin and Tonic with a twist of Orange....Love it.
Dry down is sort of Woody,it lasts longer on my skin than on my clothes.
Zero projection but Ironically People smell it on me when I hug them,so this is an Intimate Skin Scent.

kefirchik

Fresh at the start, but then gives Orthodox beeswax church candle vibes. In a good way. I really like it! Doesn't strike me as masculine as a lot of other "fresh" kind of scents do. Although, quite poor longevity...

Ambre_Sultan

This comes off as Old Bay on my skin. Amazing how diverse the perceptions are on this one.

LadyZed

I was really curious abt this one, as I have Molecule 02 and adore it (unfortunately, projection is almost non-existent..) This one has quite prominent iris, and feels like a more subtle/refined version of *Infusion d'Iris from Prada. Absolutely unisex, better projection and longevity than Molecule 02. Still, for me just *like, not love..sigh

Gyps

Got the Discovery box. I can smell M02 and E02 better than M01 and E01. Having said that, this is not an huge smell, and to me E02 smelt strongly of leather to begin with. It’s dried down now to a faded men’s after shave type of smell. Definitely leans manly. I think these Escentric Molecule scents will be better for layering, and in that case it’s a very expensive exercise.

ColoradoCouloir

I love the effect this has when I’m in direct sun. Really smells great. Perfect for when you’re going to be in the sun and you want something very light.

emerson10

This is pretty similar to M01 + Iris, but sharper and feels more leather-y (still smooth though). Whereas Iris goes powdery, this goes sort of suede like.

Both are nice; I prefer 01 + Iris.

Rogerant

I only habe a few molecule fragrances. This and 01. Think they both struggle with the same issue. I wear fragrance for myself not for likes or compliments and that's the issue with iso super it projects to other but you can't smell it.
So pointless to me. This one is very chemical in its opening you can smell the aldehyde straight away. On dry down it has got a little Amber and some light wood.

I've changed my mind on this one think it just takes while to get used too. But a nearly hate has turned into a love. Wore this kne a lot this winter and projects really well for me. Not sure about anyone else but I can smell it. So lasts a long tine on my skin. Light and woody still bright from start to finish so great about life you can change your mind. Stick with this one it pays off

taurusenergy

Smells harsh and cheap. Calls me back to being 12 and buying an aerosol can of CK One body spray at Walmart.

mqkm

salty aromatic scent aka bloody mary cocktail with celery, black pepper, ice and gin/vodka..

KöbiD

The freshness of this fragrance is perfect to cut through the summer heat. To me, Escentric 02 smells like a citrus, predominantly orange, fragrance on a cedarwood bed, sprinkled with ambroxan. Unfortunately, the ever-present sharpness of this fragrance keeps me from liking it more.

Galana

I bought a couple of sample bottles of this months ago and forgot about them until today. The weather is windy and humid and I am pleasently surprised by its freshness and projection. On my skin this smells nothing like the notes listed, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as I am not a massive fan of musk&powder&violet combo. It immediately struck me as extremely familiar though and soon enough I pin pointed the fragrance it reminded me of: The discontinued Acqua di Parma's Ginepro de Sardegna. They don't seem to share any notes listed, but on my skin they are so similar that I am not sure I'd pass a blind test. Good news for all of us pining for teh great Ginepro, I guess!

VETTIVAER

Honestly it smells too similar to a generic masculine blue fragrance, something so generic that you couldn't identify it by its signature.

I can see the effort that went into trying to make it a modern and abstract scent. The ambroxan is clean and metallic, uninhibited by obnoxious synth woods. The Iso E offers a transparent woody backbone and the violets are a nice touch.

Not unique as an experience, as it is too similar to the DNA of mainstream blue fragrances.

DarkwaveJunglist

Smelling it on a card I thought I hated it, on my skin I like it a lot. Great for breezy spring and summer days.
Initial thoughts when sprayed on card: Sort-of-weird metallic, ozone with earthy astringent almost but not quite citrus-hints.
When wearing on skin: Gin and Tonic with lemon, but more astringent. Actually pretty nice; fades in and out and from shiso and lemon to astringent tonic and back.
When I smell right on my skin where it is, it smells like very clean, sun-dried sheets.

LaUltraViolet

A clean skin scent!

Almost a month after wearing the sample of this and I LOVE IT!! I just purchased a full bottle. At first it's quite strong, but as soon as it blends with your skin, what's left is a really, really comfortable scent. It doesn't stand out, but it gives you this really comfortable feeling.

Celeria

A clean, refreshing gem.

This is not an aquatic scent, and not really a citrus too, but there is a light and transparent vibe to it, the opening is focusing on a gin tonic accord which is really realistic and effervescent, can be a bit off-putting because the alcohol note is really prominent and can be too sharp for some noses.

The mid and drydown brings a long lasting ambroxan-iso e super combo which is well executed and gives to this scent a salty-ambery fell with a slightly floral (but not feminine) touch from the Hedione. I think this is a perfect "light but really present" spring and summer scent and you will please a lot of noses with its sillage.

It may sounds odd but this scent fills me with childhood nostalgia, to me this smells like a freshly cleaned classroom during a hot day.

parfum arthur

Much softer version of D&G light blue intense for her (which I ended up disliking, the lemon and amber combo made me feel nauseous) in the final dry down.
The opening, like many have mentioned, is a freshly prepared Gin and Tonic. First time sampling I was desperate to get a bottle but I find it does lean masculine. I can imagine this to be worn as a citrus molecule-y summer fragrance for a sexy man on his way to an upmarket gym , haha.

Vitodito

Absolutely clean and elegant smell.

Ambroxan heavy, leaves a very beautiful trail, you smell clean soapy and very elegant.
The very first minutes i can barely smell a Gin Tonic thing, i thought “another molecule joke, i’m gonna smell this yes and no, i’m done with this game”.
But let it sit and the magic happens, the more you wear it, the more you smell it. Absolutely wonderful performans that grows and grows.

To me leans a bit more masculine but not a “for man” fragrance.

By far the best of the entire house for me & my nose.

JupiterMoon

Opens very fresh and clean with some florals then dries down to mostly freshness. Ambroxan is nice paired with a strong rich note (like lavender in Sauvage Elixir). It really helps highlight and power other notes. Here it is nice, but the other notes like the florals aren't as strong (plus they're mostly synthetic.) So there's not much left with the Ambroxan and Iso E Super in the drydown, except that clean feeling (in Sauvage the Ambroxan helps the lavender stay strong in the drydown.) It's a nice feeling, though. I get whiffs of it throughout the day. Sometimes I layer this with some of my weaker colognes to help them project more. I find myself using a lot of it because it's very 'transparent'. So it won't last very long. It does have that energising quality that I find with Ambroxan. (Not to the same degree as Sauvage though.) Subtle but effective.

DJoy27

This is so interesting. It really reminds me of the taste of gin & tonic with lime at first. After 30 minutes it’s warmer, more ambery. I like it…it seems like it’ll be great on days when I just want to smell clean and fuss-free. I’m very curious about molecule 02 and 01 now. I used to have escentric 05 and really like that but it smelled so similar to stem by M&G which I already have and like a bit better. So far I'm impressed with this house…

Update: after an hour the dry down is sooooooo good. I love the way this smells! It’s unlike anything else I’ve smelled. It’s just nice, unisex, confident, sexy, subtle but sure. I guess I would call it a skin scent in that it has that “not sure what that actually smells like” quality. But not in the way of barely being able to smell it. It has medium projection on me.

Aromantra

On paper strips this smells masculine and somewhat like a sporty fresh men's deodorant. E02 has a citrusy and icy cold vibe. It is quite linear with a very slight powdery dry down, and it's long-lasting (up to 3 days on paper).

On skin however, it immediately becomes a skin scent. It is no longer masculine, just a thin soapy clean veil that occasionally drifts in and out. It intensifies a couple of hours in, and subtly switches between amber & citrus notes as it reacts with body temperature. I'll keep testing & layering it as it's a bit of a chameleon. I suggest you get a decant before buying.

Rhialto the Marvellous

This is an ambroxan fragrance done differently. This fragrance is said to contain a maximum possible solution of 13,5% ambroxan, so it's quite the bomb. Yet it smells nothing like your typical run of the mill designer ambroxan aquatic freshies.

It's simply one of my all time favourite fragrances. It's post-modern, it's refreshing, it's beautiful, it's airy, it's inoffensive yet very present. I get so many compliments wearing this, especially layered with some extra Molecule 02. People just come up to me to ask me what I'm wearing!

It gives off a kind of citrusy vibe, but there actually is no citrus in it. I get elderflower and some iris. There is a kind of effervescence about it, maybe the interplay between Iso-E Super and ambroxan. Not sure what hedione smells like, but it has to be divine, because I can't explain why this fragrance smells like it does. It's a mistifying beauty. Many say it sort of smells like a gin and tonic, and I have to agree.

Performs exceptionally well in high heat. Office friendly, unisex and all purpose. You just can't go wrong with this one. Best for spring and summer, day or night.

Love, love, love. Geza Schön is a genius. Hats off to the man!

Samir66

Purchased this by mistake. I wasn’t aware that there’s Escentric 02 and Molecules 02. I wanted Molecules 02.
Not a fan of this one. To each their own!

Edit: Gave this to my daughter & it smells totally amazing on her! Go figure?

mikadark

Sprayed 1 and then 3 times. I smelled nothing. My husband could not believe it when I told him I couldn't smell it. He didn't like the scent at all and left the room. :(

holocene

I find this very citrusy but also moderately woody and herby tbh, but in a positive way. This is quite a nice refreshing perfume. I can smell it very strongly on first spray, it’s not something you have to search for like other fragrances from Escentric.

It’s weird though because with this it lays low after it dries down, almost like it’s not there, but then every so often I will just get a strong blast of it and I think “where tf is that smell coming from?”, then I remember it’s me lol.

Akscent

Eccentric 02 is an ultra minimal avantgarde post-modern cologne of sorts that is better than the sum of its parts. There is a distinctive citrus smell that opens this stuff. Grapefruit? Lemon? Yuzu? Probably either a blend of a couple of these or a trick of the interplay between the ambroxan and the Iso-e Super. Later, there are amber and woods notes that emerge. This is almost certainly the Iso-e, which often gives the impression of musky amber and dry woods. Floating above it all is an indolic jasmine and some iris notes. This fragrance works well as a base layer to extend the longevity and enhance the projection of traditional colognes. Definitely worth smelling.

Incidentally, Escentric makes a discovery set with all of the first 5 molecules and their corresponding blends that is well worth checking out both to experience the blends, but also to experience each of the individual molecules. It's like sending your nose to school. You'll be amazed how often you discover one or more of the five molecules lurking inside your preferred fragrances.

Quasar

It’s just so so so so BEAUTIFUL

AIRY, MINERAL, TRANSPARENT, FRESH, CLEAN and somehow MELLOW

SPECTACULAR and ultra MODERN.......

Nothing smells like this

Reza_2021

It is one of the very fragrant perfumes in this brand that has a cool and slightly sweet fresh scent

From this brand , I tested three perfumes , Escentric 01 - Escentric 03 and the same perfume Escentric 02 , which I liked more than the two perfumes 01 and 02 , but 03 was also OK and was among the likes taste .

The scent of this synthetic woody scent is a bit of iris and jasmine , which starts with ambroxan and gradually the scent of iris and jasmine flowers is added , and from the beginning to the end, the smell of fresh wood fibers accompanies the rest of the notes , and at the base notes , the smell of fresh spicy looks like a little It could be .

Quality : 8 out of 10
Personal taste : 8 out of 10 because I like cool and fresh scents
Sillage : 7 out of 10 less than average to 1-- 2 hours
Longevity : 7 out of 10 well for 4 -- 5 hours with 4 puffs on the skin
Popularity : 6 out of 10
Purchase value : 8 out of 10 for 100 ml of EDT

Total Score : 7.4 out of 10
But for myself considering the price : 8 of 10 , because , I this smell so much liked

Before purchasing , testing this cool aroma and a little sweet and fresh spice is recommended .

englishrose96

When I first sprayed this, I got peppery, citrusy, Iso E. I've left it half an hour, and the citrus has morphed into that lovely jasmine and the soft powdery cashmere has come through. For me, the pepper note is still there, and pushes it firmly into more-masculine territory. I perfectly pleasant fragrance, albeit a bit boring and generic.

agp293

I love iris and jasmine. They are among two of my favorite flowers. So despite the fact that I am not a huge fan of ambroxan or ISO E Super, I think I might like this fragrance a lot. The flowers soften the harsh saltiness of the other notes and give it a nice bit of body while it is still fresh and light. I can imagine this as a unique warm-weather scent. It is not sticky or overwhelming, and it takes these two slowers that I feel are often positioned to shine in rich full-bodied romantic mysterious cool weather and nighttime frags and allows them to present a different side. These are initial impressions, so I will continue to wear this and see if it changes throughout the day.

sophiekoss

i guess i finally know where that weird coriander note i get in so many tobacco perfumes comes from! this was an intriguing decant to buy, but i have to say i've noticed my skin reacts weirdly to a lot of tobacco perfumes - i get a very weird herbal, almost savory scent beneath everything else (it happens most prominently in MMM jazz club). escentric 02, after a clean, sharp opening, was ONLY that weird savory coriander note for me. i'm guessing it might be ambroxan, though i've never gotten it with prada candy, so who knows? maybe my body chemistry is just strange!

cocofluff

The scent is very light and airy. I pick up iris and the ambery ambroxan. This one is very pleasant. More pleasant than Escentric 01 because that one smells too lemony which goes heads into lemon cleaner territory. This is nice still NFBW for me. -

hollymichaelm

This smells like sexy paper. Smells very papery and bright in the opening and dries down to a clean animalistic woody musk. Smells amazing in the heat, it seems to work well with warm skin. I really think this is special for very hot humid climates. 9/10.

Vickalicious

On me this started out has a slight citrus and light woods fragrance. The dry-down was a light cedar-like fragrance. Not good, not bad...I feel very neutral about this one. Not one I would add to my collection.

jaexrobb

Dry down reminds me of encre noir

edit: I sprayed this one on before i sprayed Prada L'homme Leau and I just created something magical lol ;O

MaquiLab

Dry wood and a pile of decaying leaves. It's not bad, it's just not my type. It starts pretty fresh, with a cool citrus-y vibe, then the "decay" comes through and intermingles with some wood (not a specific type, more like the scent of a cabin in the woods). Doesn't last long on my skin (unlike Molecule 2).

Kileyb

At first I didn't think I liked this it was very masculine and that's it just Woody nothing much else to it. I just decided to try it again after a while and what I did was I used it with a perfume that I felt was lacking that depth that it needed something ambery woodsy debth so I used it I layered the both and it's beautiful and now I'm wearing it on its own I can actually smell the ambery kind of woodsy sent it does over time when it you know is on your skin it progresses beautifully and it's a great scent for layering!

elledeelee

Sexy cedar, woody grapefruit, gin and tonic. A wonderful cocktail for summer day-drinking. It dries down slightly more feminine leaning with a touch of herbal soap and florals. Smells like an aftershave my dad used to wear in the 90s, and is one of the nicest scents that I've tried in this category.

I can't really detect very much of the Molecule scents, but the Escentric ones I can actually pick up on, so you may want to try more of these if you struggle with being able to smell molecule scents like me. Having said that though, none of them are even strong enough to make it worth my while to purchase a full bottle. I do want to actually be able to smell what I'm wearing!

piyux

Escentric Molecules Escentric 02 EDT opens with a soft projection of citrus, floral and aromatic, notes. The opening is faint, fresh, refreshing, and pleasant. The ambroxan is the most prominent note, aromatic and citrusy, similarly, the ISP E-Super is a fresh woody note. The jasmine and iris are support notes, the iris is a soft powdery note but just a whiff, similarly, the jasmine is a light white floral note. The fragrance is linear, all notes come up as soon as the fragrance is applied and continue into the dry-down, the only noticeable change is the loss of projection, the fragrance loses some of its initial citrusy nature. Once Escentric Molecules Escentric 02 EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a faint, citrus, and woody fragrance. The fragrance feels casual, delicate, diluted, disappointing, faint, fresh, gentle, inexpensive, light, low-quality, modern, poorly-blended, short-lived, simple, slightly sour, synthetic, unisex, weak white, and pleasant.

VERSATILITY: 4/10. Moderate, an inoffensive skin scent.

To my nose the opening is a less sharp version of Memo irish leather.

I much prefer M01 and M02 over E02.

ayamayapyjama

my perception:

to me this smells very fruity. like a salted, spiced tangeringe. it stays that way and is very long lasting. for me, if I were a guy, this would be a super dumb reach in the summer daytime. or for sport. a guy in his 20s/30s. it's easy to wear and nice.
it's unisex though, but I definitely smelled a similar note in some fresh fruity men fragrances before (maybe aqua di gio as someone pointed out).

this also can fill a room without you noticing it and when you come back to that room hours later you will smell something that's just wonderful and which likes to play hide and seek with your nose.

don't overspray. 1 or 2 spritzers are enough I think. it's powerful and can get weird if too much is applied.

ahsif

to me it smells a lot like Bleu de Channel (EDP) but BDC is better overall.

it does get me noticed because the smell is pretty strong and it does last.

i would highly recommend to give it a wear before purchasing, do not blind buy.

molecule 01 - that i would say , can be safely blind bought!

Rhialto the Marvellous

I don't understand how this can smell like celery to anyone, but apparently it does. Just like iso-e-super apparently smells like hamster cage to some. I don't get it. It seems perceiving smell is extremely subjective.

Anyway, I got a tester of Escentric 02 and I loved it, so I got myself a bottle.

To me it smells like gin-tonic or champagne. I'm guessing it's the elderflower in combination with alcohol, though the booziness sticks around for quite a while, it's not just initial blast. There is citrus as well. Looking at the notes here, I don't understand where all of that is coming from!

The smell calms down after a while, it's not like I feel surrounded by a cloud of scent, but walking around I can tell it's still with me because I keep getting wafts as I move. I'm guessing it's because I sprayed some in my hair.

Gorgeous scent for spring and summer, I love it. Layering it with Molecule 02 (adding even more Ambroxan) is fantastic by the way!

TyretiquetteRex

"In a blend, ambroxan extends fleeting ingredients whilst also acting as an olfactive magnifying glass, glazing over top notes and making them shine whilst also rounding out the overall punch of a perfume."

Understanding this much about the fragrance, I bought this one by mistake thinking it was just regular Molecule 02 aka ambroxan. Got it home, plastic off, box opened, before realizing my $70 mistake. I took a shower and sprayed some on. Read some of the reviews and read that it smelled similar to celery. Well...yep! That's exactly, and only, what I smelled. What a disappoinment.

Anyhow, figuring that this contains ISO E Super and ambroxan, I figured I would use a cheapy scent (Lotto Speed) to layer on top of this celery scent, to mask it. And it worked flawlessly. Now Lotto Speed usually lasts an hour, but spraying it on top of EM 02, this stuff is pushing past the three hour mark and projecting more than normal. So, as an extender and amplifier, I am assuming these molecules do their job. Which leads me to another point.

I think most people are buying this brand, especially the Molecule 0x (not Escentric) as a stand alone fragrance. I purposefully set out to purchase Molecule 02 as a "tool" (an amplifier and extender) for fragrances I already have. I think that would serve a better intent to these quirky "perfumes".

I have Molecule 04 (javanol), as well, and added that to Memo African Leather (a love!) and that definitely amped that fragrance up and made it even more palatable, less animalic. If people begin to focus on the Molecule (not Escentric) brand as fragrance layering tools (amplifiers and extenders) instead of stand alone, baloney only fragrances, they may get better results from them. In fact, I'm starting to think that was the purpose behind them in the first place -- not just a gimmick or simply bottling molecules. Just my two cents.

I'm just going to use this one as a layering tool for summer citric or balsamic scents, and get the Molecule 02 and use that for layering some of my winter collection.

I was very interested in the hype and the compositions of this line. I sprayed 3 ml the first wear and smelled nothing at all. It was ver bizarre. I thought I had a defective bottle! 30 minutes later I got a note of soap but faint with no silage. No one can smell it on my the entire wear. Finally the dry down had some potential but the iris and soap notes made it smell very dull and still no sillage. I was hoping for more ambroxen. I love Another 13 by Le Labo and always get compliments. It’s seems like they were trying to replicate something like Another 13. The result was a bizzare failure and tone deaf to the person wearing the fragrance and definitely those who encounter the wear. For another $50 or so treat yourself to what this a poor clone of, Le Labo Another 13. It is my signature and I was hoping this could by worn when I run out seeing I don’t have a Le Labo store near my town. Move forward if you want to put your best self forward. Escentric is a steep step that feels like a magic act my 6 year old cousin does. It falls apart. Move on.

shpalman

Once the elderflower fades I can barely smell anything. I already know from Molecule 01 that I can't smell ISO E Super, and from Molecule 02 that I know what Ambroxan smells like, but here I can't even detect the Ambroxan.

It's refreshing that Escentric Molecules are honest about their aroma chemicals; I wish more houses were, so I'd know which fragrances to just not bother with because they'd be lost on me.

QBBS

Ignore some people who says this is bad.
I get compliment right to left, boys and girls at work. I’m a guy and everyone who smell this give me a compliment.
This is well balanced very good scent. Not the most unique one, but this is very good scent for men, and probably work for girls too.

Don’t believe fragrance douche!!

obrasidas

I cannot smell iso e super nor ambroxan. Only iris is there for me and it is a bad synthetic one.

Registeralloveragain

This is absolutely HORRIBLE!! And I personally like ambroxan. This is a monstrosity

rafaelrodriguezabello

I can say this is 95% same DNA in Jeremy Office Fragrance One. Very ambroxan and pepper. Quite brigh citrus yet animalic vibe.
Good scent, safe , clean .
I don't know how is the projection or if last or not.
I definitely buyit after tried.

mrtnlkn

I wish I could say I like or love or even dislike it...I don't know since I hardly smell anything..only in opening very light 'smell' which I cannot even distinguish hahaha
and after that...pooof; it is gone with the wind
non smell what so ever

SocialAssassin

AfterDark hit it out of the park with his review. This one is a heck of fragrance and it only gets better as it dries down. The wafts I get are enchanting and polarizing. And I honestly can't help but say to myself that I smell good. The French Lover vibe is there, but with a clean elegant somewhat soapy aroma due to the iris and ambroxan. It's done exceptionally well.

ViouAmara

Airy, powdered woody, ambery, skinny… with something versatile, cedar? cyprès? or lemony at the very beginning?
I love it, it is really very sexy, intimate, personal and very emotional.
I can’t decide about sillage. Could I be wrong? It seams so close to me, nearly skin secret, but hubby says « this one is really really good, but no idea of what it is like »
I agree.
This is perhaps what it could be. A fragile fluff with a magic dust of Limoncello.

zhiang0113

Probably the best in the Escentric 0x line - transparent hedione surrounds a watery woody base of Iso E Super and Ambroxan. Addictive, but is a skin scent throughout its lifespan on my skin.

Seems like it smells different every time I wear it. Thinking if I should get a full bottle after using up this sample spray!

Andy the Frenchy

Probably the most interesting of the 8 fragrances of EM. The only one I may think of buying, if I can spot a good price. (Maybe also Escentric 3, we'll see).

NiceNiffs

#lisabills2 describes it perfectly.

I am a new fan of this one too. After grabbing a bunch of decants this week I sprayed this one yesterday and it shone against the others I had been trying. Literally a "wow" reaction for me.

Woody-amber with some floral notes. The soft-airy dry down is kinda powdery but overall super addictive scent. Really, really like this one.

{Edit}

Second proper wearing and in warmer weather. I'm enjoying this even more. Great scent.

rum

I tried this on by accident having been on the lookout for Molecule 02, which is just ambroxan.

I have to say I am quite surprised by the bad reviews on this one. A super fresh and long lasting scent, it is quite unique whilst the ambroxan stays right at the back acting mostly as an accompaniment. It does creep out a bit more in the dry down but without losing the freshness as such.

The lack of marketing and a proper name make this a hard scent to decide when to wear it but it is through and through a summer scent.

The hedione reminds me of original, unadulterated Eau Sauvage which was one of the first to use the molecule back in the 60s. It works really well here and blends superbly in the composition.

All in all not a half bad scent. Ultra fresh and sparkly, never overpowering and totally wearable by just about anyone. What’s not to like?

lisabills2

I just love this on me. It starts out a little woody, floral, and amber then changes into a more powdery floral with an amber finish. The woody notes may be what throws some people because they're strong at first but this blends so well as it starts to mature and is very addicting. I keep smelling my arm. Lol. It's not like any other scent I've tried and I really enjoy knowing that I don't smell like anyone else, and it's very pleasant.

Positivethings

Did your parents ever take you to the car dealership on a really hot summer day? Remember the hot blazing sun, the steaming parking lot, the smell of hot rubber tires? Remember when they made you get in the new car, and it was so hot and smelled like melting rubber and plastic? The sweaty car salesman who keeps wiping his forehead? If you have fond memories of that experience, and you'd like that smell all over your body, Escentric 02 is for you.

Me -- car dealerships not my scene. I was able to get to a shower in a relatively short time frame so that I could scrub my body clean and stop gagging. I didn't exactly run home, more like a frantic speed walk. One of the most repulsive fragrances I've ever smelled.

It was still on me after the scrub, and it smelled pleasantly musky. I was mildly traumatized so I doused myself with whatever decent bottle was closest to me -- I don't even remember.

I totally respect that other people have different skin chemistries, noses, and associations. Come to think of it, the car salesman from my hometown was a total idiot sleazeball and now is a US Congressman (R). Guess it explains why 30 years later Escentric 02 is traumatic for me, ha.

[This review is for Escentric Molecules Escentric 02.]

Houdini4

Okay so there's a reason why I haven't reviewed this yet and it's because the branding of the products offered by Escentric Molecules, is so dull and inconsequential they all blend into one. I'm not even talking about the fragrances tehmselves because largely they are great and despite the seeming simplicity, most are delicately choreographed collections of aroma chemicals.
Escentric 02 starts out with a sharp citrus type grapefruit and lime also dry and bitter a bit maybe juniper and pink pepper facets too. This progressed into what can be best described as an ambroxan biased, powdery, woody/amber accord with vetiver/Cedar Iso E vibes but but those less so & warmer etc...
So in that respect, somewhat similar to everything from this line and pretty much Schoen too. Not a criticism in any way because they all smell great and side by side very different. To honest Escentric 02 has even more appeal to me than say Molecule 02 because it's less dry and woody and more on the amber spectrum.
Not interested in owning this fragrance but wearing it again recently I thought it was alright.

Registeralloveragain

I usually love synthetic ambergris/ ambrox in its different forms when it’s done well, but this actually is an awful composition. It brings out no good qualities in the ambrox. It smells like a more annoying version of the old brown speed stick musk deodorant stick. “Not a perfume” is way better it could be a slightly different chemical like cetalox ambrox d l or whatever I’m not sure but it smells much better

talkaboutscents

My favorite in the EM line. (Though it can change anytime because, well, Molecule 04.) I don’t mind the synthetics in perfumes, some of them like ambroxan smells really captivating, i just cant explain how. But i can never justify the price tag of this scent. These synthetics can be obtained easily and can be done homemade in no time. Nevertheless EM is a perfume marketing case study, so there’s that. I asked today at my local department store how often they are bought. And the lady said people are buying it even though they cant smell it while testing. So there you go :)

Escentric 02 is reminiscent of Molecule 01, but i find it more citrusy and less woody. They would layer perfectly alone or with other scents, possibilities are limitless.

Adrien02

For a perfume whose entire composition is one (1) molecule (Ambroxan), I feel you can make up your own mind what you are willing to pay for it. To help you out in your decision making process:

On Luckyscent.com Molecule 02 EDT by Escentric Molecules is going for $140 USD for a 100 ml bottle; 'Anyway' EDP by Juilette Has a Gun is going for $100 for a 50 ml bottle.

I have had a sample and have purchased a used bottle of Escentric 02 by Escentric Molecules, thinking i had to have it, it was so unique and sucker for pretty bottles, wanted it for the bottle as well.

After doing some research and hunting on Ebay I found an Ebayer who sold the same single molecule diluted (your choice) just as the same concentration of Escentric Molecules original or 20% concentration. I paid $12.99 for Molecule 02 - Not A Perfume - Ambroxan - 30ml Unisex Cologne Perfume **USA**". For those interested in purchasing, the Ebay seller is:thetxstate (1623 ) 99.4% Positive feedback.

I have had the experience of the 'pretty bottle'; now having been educated and more experienced in fragrances, I am now more inclined to being attracted to what's inside the bottle. With that said, I will never again purchase this fragrance for anything more than what I last purchased it for. BTW, I also have 'Anyway' by Juliette Has A Gun, which as the same note/composition: Ambroxan. I found it on Ebay and no, I did not pay full price ! (Happy dance!)

I see that some can and some can't detect this molecular scent. I happen to be one that is fortunate to be able to do so, along with a few coworkers of mine. It is a lovely, but often aloof scent. It seems that when I am not thinking about it it reminds me of itself by once again appearing then disappearing. It is a somewhat shy and mysterious scent. It is pretty much the same, but is not always apparent, but when it does show up it brings a smile to my face and I feel delighted to have experienced it once again.

(Side note: this is the same review (with a few modifications) I did for 'Anyway" by Juilette Has a Gun, due to the fact that both perfumes are composed of the same ingredient: a single molecule, Ambroxan, and smell the same, to my nose). Why write another review when one can cover two?

louiee

A little more interesting on me than molecule No 1. Clean and subtle unisex scents.
Still not super detectible on my skin.
Nice but nothing special.
I use them both for layering other scents and they do well on that job.
Silage is weak and longevity is average on me.
A pleasant skinscent.

I've never experienced any fragrance like this weirdo!!
I remember when I was in a perfumery shop months ago when the owner suggested me to try this fragrance and he said I got you a good offer for this bad boy, so I sprayed it on my jacket and thought what is that!!!, it doesn't seem to me as a perfume at all, I barely can smell it, maybe it works better as an air-freshener?! ... so I said to myself maybe he just wants to sell whatever he has and nothing more! ... then I left the shop without being concern about it, and had then a really long busy day, and when I got back home I kept my jacket on a chair in my room, and whenever I enter the room I smelled something mmm not sure how can I describe it, it was something special, something new to my nose, I was sure it's not any of my perfumes, and then I said I'm done I need to know from where this lovely scent comes and makes the whole room smells fabulous! and I kept walking around the room trying to fix up this mysterious smell! and surprisingly it came from the jacket! and I was really shocked, I couldn't believe that the same weak scent (or that what I thought) that I tried yesterday now is making the whole room smells the same! and then I thought this fragrance will be perfect for layering,, and it took me 2 days to go back to the shop and buy it!

It is 100% a unisex fragrance, I couldn't see anybody unable to wear it, I prefer to use in summer, but it stays my preference, glad to have it in my collection, an easy 8/10 for me.

Albiretu

Another decant I received in the Essential 13 Sample Pack - Feminine from Lucky Scent.

This is alcohol and something else equally yucky on me. Either I am not sophisticated enough or I just don't get it at all. I would never want to smell like this... To think it costs an arm and a leg too.

BTW: I have a lot of niche decants I am looking forward to swap. Please message me if interested.

cursive123

this fragrance is actually pretty interesting because it opens SUPER fresh; nothing really special just a really standard bright oepning.

Crazy thing is the deep drydown (similar to molecule 01) this thing turns from a very bright fragrance (after about 1 hr) into that real classic Molecule 01 spicy warm musky fragrance but it has that Ambroxan in it to give it just a lil more of a spin (the ambroxan is more noticable in the opening)

Overall though it's such a nice almost 'Christmas' type of scent in the deep dry down(thats what it reminds me of anyways)

So just to be clear this is basically like a fragrance with A.D.H.D, it goes from being extremely bright and citrusy (spring sort of) into being warm / spicy and woody and honestly Christmas smelling.

It does what Molecule 01 does but better because it allows you to enjoy the first 2 hrs whereas Molecule 01 makes you smell like a hamster cage but EVENTUALLY it smells amazing about 2 hrs later! This still gives a similar feel but a much more pleasant opening

Great buy and honestly it's blind buy worthy imo for men and women provided you aren't a potato

watchaka

Escentric 02 reminds me of D&G's Light Blue, except without that citric component in the dry down, and with the addition of pepper. This scent is one you can wear when you are tired of wearing fragrances, still want to wear a fragrance, and want to keep it light. Remember, Molecule 02 is not the same as Escentric 02, as I see many reviews here describing Molecule 02 (celery, mineral, etc). They are completely different. I like Molecule 02 without a doubt, but they are very different fragrances, so please keep in mind that Escentric is the one that smells like a different version of Light Blue.

WildDove

Escentric 02 with its iso-e-super + ambroxan is an icon of clean contemporary fragrance. Totally unisex. If you want a more feminine version with a plummy ambroxan, try MJ Decadence edp.

Cassiano

Escentric 02 was released in 2008 along with its pair (and fragrance theme) Molecule 02. Just as it happened in 2006, this duo was created based on a specific synthetic molecule, this time Ambroxan.

According to the perfumer, Escentric 02 has 13.5% of Ambroxan, which is the maximum percentage capable of being dissolved in the composition of a fragrance. Any attempt above this value causes the molecule to crystallize out of the solution. The other notes are hedione (a synthetic compound of floral nuances, similar to jasmine), muscone (a compound that smells like musk), gin tonic accord (obtained through elderflowers extract), iris and Almdudler accord (a kind of soda, which is very famous in Austria).

We see this composition and think of something completely different. But on the skin, Escentric 02 behaves like a floral-musk fragrance, full of powdery nuances and without much mystery. There is a citric moment in the beginning, which makes us think that the perfume goes in one direction, but with the passage of time, it follows another, quite distinct. While the output is vibrant and at the same time dry, because of the iris, what we know by the body (or heart) of the fragrance is smoother and more elegant. Escentric 02 is comfortable as if it were an affectionate embrace over a sweet base, which remains for all time. It smells of coziness, of cleansing, of skin scented by a creamy soap, after bathing in winter. It conveys to me all that ambergris sensuality that, unfortunately, I could not feel in Molecule 02. If the other was concave, this one is convex.

In my opinion, Escentric 02 is for Molecule 02 as Escentric 01 is for Molecule 01: both are much better and give me the feeling of applying a real fragrance. And more importantly: the feeling of being perfumed for real. Not to mention that it has excellent projection and high durability. It is not an aggressive fragrance, but it does not stop exhaling.

RB75

On my skin I get a warm, slightly musky orange peel oil.
Good on it‘s own but amazing to layer and enhance other citrus or vetiver based fragrances.

rjf

Tires and wet grass.

Michelle12345678

Fresh, masculine scent. I am not picking out a particular scent. Just smells like iso e super and ambroxan. This is a close skin scent, it doesn't project. The longevity isn't great either. Maybe four hours.

There's nothing bad about this - it's office-safe and inoffensive - but it's not spectacular either.

SzekelyEmoke

So I work in a homeopathic pharmacy and I just love wearing this alone, or layered with some sweeter fragrance, like Mon Guerlain or Good Girl or 5th Avenue. It's just really clean and pure when worn alone!
Matches my white robe & the image of any type of pharmacy or clinic/hospital in my opinion! :)

rswooley

Don't get me wrong, I like a quirky perfume, but I find this to be one of the worst-smelling fragrances I've ever worn. On my skin, it smells like a car repair shop (motor oil, hot tires) and rotting celery. A serious yuck!

Of course, there are many folks here who have vastly different experiences with it--I guess that's one of the draws of the Escentric Molecules line, right? Nevertheless, I'd definitely recommend that any interested party try it before buying.

ET76

Warm, and citrusy all the way. There's some minor development of the scent, but basically it's linear, even though it lasts for a good 10+ hrs. It is too heavy for a hot summer time and can be suffocating with more than 2 sprays. Perfect for spring, and for many occasions.

ejamieson

This opens with the smell of being at the phlebotomist's. Rubbing alcohol, blue tourniquets, and bandages over cotton balls come to mind. This was unabated until I scrubbed at it, but the scent wouldn't leave completely. Base notes of quiet, clean musk lingered - pleasant, but not worth the opener.

SomeStubble

The opening smells like wart remover. Settles down to cumin.
Skin scent in 15 minutes.

mmcdonald36

Literally perfect. As smooth as a fragrance could possibly be, but also very interesting, unique, and alluring. It doesn't turn sour like many other scents that can be worn in the heat. I feel like no one could dislike this

Ewalk81

Bought a sample pack from LuckyScent. So far I'm at really enjoying this scent. I smelled Molecule 01 and it is good, but way to common. I can see myself purchasing this, just not any time soon.

jah

Super cool perfume everyone should get it since fresh fragrances vapourise very quickly. This one stays put

Etna44

Bought a generous sample of this. How is this meant to be worn?! It must work very very differently on different people. I know all perfume does, but I am in shock and disbelieve that only a couple of people mentioned CELERY in their reviews... That's basically all I can smell. If I try really hard to describe it in more words, I'd say it smells like a soup. Very herbal soup, with a hint of parsley, carrot, but mostly celery. And since I cannot stand celery (just because of its strong scent), this perfume makes me very sick.

I did my best and waited for it to evolve into something else on my skin, but it really is very linear. Three hours is all I could stand and then had to wash it off my skin with soda and harsh soaps.

I wish more people had same chemistry with it as I did and described it as herbal rather than citrusy or musky. I would have stayed miles away from it.

ScarlettX

This scent is so barely there, I almost can't smell it at all.
Such poor longevity and sillage.
The scent itself seemed okayish, but I am not pleased with the longevity.
I can smell faint amber note and that's it. There's some masculine scent lingering.
I don't recommend it, it was gone in 20 minutes.

knoxknoll777

I get compliments on this all the time. Of course the wearer will more than likely get olfactory fatigue, but everyone else around you really enjoys it.

StellaDiverFlynn

Escentric 02 opens with sparkling, herbal lemon and juniper, almost like a glass of gin. Although the mineral/mild ambery warmth duality of ambroxan is unmistakable in this fragrance, this time, the ambroxan is seen through an abstract citrus floral musky filter. The floral part vaguely resembles clean jasmine and fresh, chalky tuberose with tiny bit of lemon nuance, and the musk is like cotton puff clutched on the ambroxan, smoothing out any possible rough edge of its mineral aspect.

The fragrance then remains this fresh, nebulous, mildly sweet skin scent until the end. The sillage is quite close to the skin, and the longevity can reach over 8 hours.

As interesting as the concept of Molecule 02, ambroxan solely on itself does occasionally manifest a somewhat subtle "nose-hair burning" effect to me. With Escentric 02, it feels consistently smoother. The sparkly citrus opening is also very uplifting and refreshing. If you happen to be looking for a nice-smelling, abstract, "non-perfume-y", clean skin scent, I think Escentric 02 worths a try.

Calvini

Weird.. I asked about "gin & tonic" and the lady recommended this because of the "juniper note" but I guess that wasn't part of the brand's intention? (Because it did really smell like gin in the beginning)

HeavyBeatsUK

It goes on like those Fisherman's Friend lozenges but I will wait to see how it develops

Edit - it stays the same Fisherman's Friend aroma and quickly fades into nothing. Waste of money.

First impression - light version of CC X. If someone likes CC X, this one is Good for any season, even for hot weather. Than checked the list of Geza Schoen creations - CC X is in the list )))

PS. Nothing similar to ONE D&G imo, as said below

protosv

This is a fantastic fragrance, with a clean synthetic weird combo of both marine and citrus-like freshness unique to ambroxan. Can't really describe a particular type of citrus exactly, but most resembles grapefruit. This has a remarkable similarity, I think, to Dior Sauvage, likely due to the shared abroxan note in both, but this one is definitely the niche-smelling version, with less fruitiness and sweetness than Sauvage. I think this one is more interesting.

As an important side note, this *SHOULD NOT* be mistaken for the confusingly named "Escentric Molecule 02". It is not the same fragrance. That one is pure ambroxan, while this fragrance is built largely around ambroxan, but with additional notes as well.

The fragrance does not develop at all. At. All. It's completely lineaer, which is not a bad thing in this case, as the opening is absolutely fantastic. The longevity on me is absolutely monster, lasting 12+ hours on my very dry skin. That was in winter. In summer, 16+ easy. Projection is appropriate, about 1 meter, not more, and while 2 sprays will get you noticed, it won't suffocate due to its inherent lightness and freshness.

If you can find this one on the discount sites or the Bay, you'll pay about the same as you would for a retail 100ml of Sauvage, and I think this one is the better option.

GRAF

Escentric Molecules 02 opens with such weird citrus-woody note.. It is something like wet wood and bold citrus. It is like a nasty explosion on skin, strong and sharp, pictures of destroyed industrial plants, nuclear disasters and catastrophic movies of the future come to my mind, but for a while.. after some minutes, it calms down. It remains quite a peppery-woody-fresh and citrusy masculine scent. The distinguished notes are iris, ambroxan, something woody and weak jasmine.
I reccomend it for cool spring-summer days and autumn. The longevity is nice, about 7-8 hours and the sillage is moderate.
It is a nice scent, nice for an option when you need something really weird to wear! Is it a masterpiece for me? No. Not at all. But it is interesting and.. weird!!

Papery powder

For the past several months I have been on the hunt for a fragrance that captured a very specific aroma. I first encountered it in our closet and quickly discovered it was emanating in waves from a coat that my fiancée had recently purchased from H&M. The aroma was beautiful and captivating, so much so that it remained on my mind. At once papery, powdery and earthy, it smelled like a quality iris synthetic but there were other elements at play. Working at a fragrance boutique, I immediately went to work attempting to find a fragrance that captured the aroma of this garmet, but to no avail. My search intensified after I purchased a jacket from the retailer several months later that was imbued with the very same aroma. At this point I was sure that any fragrance that came close would have to contain an orris component but being a bit of an iris fanatic, I had either tried or owned a swath of orris-centric fragrances and nothing jumped out as a match, that is, until today. While putting together recommendations for a customer I grabbed Escentric 02. I'll confess I haven't paid the Escentric fragrances as much attention as the Molecule fragrances but I had tried the fragrance several times years ago. For whatever reason (I'm assuming the subtlety of the composition) it hadn't left much of an impression. Anyway—finally getting to the point—it smells very close to if not identical to my mystery aroma. I'm quite excited by this revelation, if only for the closure it provides. The problem with finding new fragrances at this point is figuring out how to incorporate them into one's sizable rotation. Also, I don't know that I would necessarily want to wear Escentric 02 but I definitely want all of my coats to be inundated with its addictive aroma, which, of course, begs the question: is Escentric 02 more functional fragrance than fine fragrance? You all can be the judge of that. I'm just happy to be able to re-scent my jacket.

Some of the former reviews here are not referring to "Escentric Molecules Escentric 02" but "Escentric Molecules Molecules 02". I admit, Geza Schön's concept is ... absolutely confusing for non-experts.

Escentric 02 starts off citrussy as others said before. In the same time the ambroxan is here, not just noticable but playing a leading role.

This perfume is said to be linear. Still, during the first 30 minutes a lot goes on, starting with citrus, then a strong celery/carrot comes ... not too pleasant ... and fades or should I say tunes in? Luckily it does.

This composition works like a big cast. Category: comedy. Speaking in terms of TV scripts, this perfume brings the show "Arrested Development" to my mind. A lot is going on, synchronous*. And it all makes sense and adds up.
This scent - or should I say "these scents"? – entertains me in the best way possible. There is always more to discover. And I like every aspect I discover. Sniffing at my wrist I sense a rich perfume. Not heavy, but rich. And so entertaining. More than I could ask for.

Escentric Molecules Escentric 02 – very nicely done, Geza Schön!

warm, intense, changes and evolves over time.love it!

britt.afton

Smells warm and citrusy on me. I'm a big fan.

lollsazz

A mix on some of the notes makes this smell carrot on me. Same happens with Dune from Dior :/

SzekelyEmoke

I smell so much nutmeg and cardamom, I think the chemical substances give this perfume these features. I like to analyse this over and over again. Is a great scent for humid or torrid summer days worn with a loose shirt, shorts and sandals. One of my favs so far!

I made my own Molecule 01 with iso e-super, and I also tried Timbersilk, the new iso e-super. I must say I prefer iso e-super because it is rounder, more unisex. I always receive a lot of compliments when wearing my home made Molecule 01. But I'm tired of it, it has not enough complexity. I also made my own Molecule 02 and I don't use it often.
Escentric 01 smells much more interesting in my opinion.
You still have the wow effect of Molecule 01, but I enjoy it much more. I think it is one of the best fragrance made with iso e-super. So fresh, so clean!
But I think Escentric 02 is even more interesting.
When I wear Escentric 01, I receive compliments.
But with Escentric 02, people don't tell me I smell good, they just act weird. They smile with a silly face, they come closer, they just look at me with a smile and they don't know what to say...
Escentric 01 will make people think you smell clean, Escentric 02 will make some people want to hug you or more.

SzekelyEmoke

Ok I just ordered it and I can say I already love it, eventhough I just sprayed it on my arm. Yes it can be worn by a female very well, you just have to know how to pull it out right. A casual outfit will do it. :) Mhmmm lovely.

SzekelyEmoke

Is this good enaugh to be worn by a woman? With casual outfit or more with a black widow outfit?

bluecg

Sprayed this one on my left hand Velours on the right. Came home, washed my hands with soap! after severel hours I could still scent Molecule 02.
And better up it smelled even nicer after some hours than in the beginning!
Not bad!

This is my sons signature fragrance. Etheric, clean, soft spicy in a good way, and very long lasting. Some of his clothes even smell of this after having washed them..
I have never tried any fragrance like this.

Well I finally succumbed to this line & decided to purchase 02 because my favourite beauty boutique was selling mini 30 ml travel editions for Christmas. A great idea without the huge financial commitment to own a full sized bottle.
I am really loving this on me. The sillage is incredible & the longevity a good 4-5 hours. Even better when layered with other fragrances, it seems to enhance whatever other scent you are wearing.
I get a continual musky incense vibe but it doesn't develop or evolve much further from that. Yes that makes it quite linear as a scent but sometimes I just want a scent to stay the same from start to it's finish.
It is in my bag always.

musezg

Ok I got it. And now what? Will I ever wear anything else? Will I continue to love fragrance? I'm not sure anymore (can't live without)

Majesty

I decided to try Escentric Molecule 2 although being skeptical about this line and concept.. Is it like a perfume that smells like your own skin but better? I do not get it and it didn't work for me at all. The initial stage consists of a nutty almond like aroma , slightly bitter sweet, cozy and beautiful, the second stage smells of...nothing!! The almond note has already disappeared! I decided to wait for the dry down.. Hairspray..that's how it smells on me. A generic , cheap hairspray smell . There is no longevity nor silage. No need to waste time and money on this line, my own skin smells better without it..

Arabian Knight

I sprayed this yesterday in Harvey Nichols. I don't know if it was because there was so much perfume already around me, but I literally couldn't smell anything, even with the tester strip up my nose.

There's nothing there.....

dacure

currently my favorite all around summer scent everyone compliments me all the time sits really close to the skin

delilahcat

I was desperate to try this so took the plunge and bought a full bottle only to discover that the synthetics in this did not mix well with my skin. Stupid I know, to buy a perfume renowned for its use of the best synthetics when I tend towards natural perfumery most of the time but hey ho, my curiosity got the better or me. I like amber so thought it worth a try but found the ambroxan to dry for my taste I like my ambers more smooth and creamy. My bottle is now up for sale on ebay for almost half the original price and with only one spray used if anyone's interested! My usernames delilahcat2013 look me up on ebay if you want to try this perfume.

Jikodis

I can see a lot of variance in these reviews. For me though, I love this scent! I have gotten more compliments on this scent than on any other. I love the mix between ambroxan and ISO-E Super. I don't smell pepper or citrus at all like some say. Escentric 01 has a very peppery smell to me though which I do not like. I see this scent as very synthetic and that is okay with me. It is one of those scents that you cannot put a finger on. It just smells really good and familiar. Like you know the person. I own Molecule 01 and I can't really smell anything unfortunately. This one though smells great to me. Can't see why anyone could hate it. All I have heard are great things from those around me.

Went to the store today and sprayed this one on my left hand and Vetiver´s Velours on the right. vetivers is a pretty heavy scent..
Came home, washed my hands with soap! after severel hours I could still scent Molecule 02. Vetivers almost dissapeared immediately..
And what´s even better, it smelled much nicer, softer, warmer after some hours than in the right at the start!
I like it a lot:)

This is my first perfume from ecsentric molecules, this one really had me walk on the clouds. Weird in a good way, it opens like a very strong isopopryl alcohol that is quite nasty to the nose. But wait as it dries off peppery woody note kicks off. It presents itself as fresh, citrusy however, you can still pick the alcohol. I work in the medical field so i appreciate this whole hospital scent going on here... But this one is waaaay better, i tell you. Also i find it great for starting and stimulating your olfactory nerves in the morning.
The longevity and sillage are both very good. :)

The best of eccentric had 01 02 03 beautiful mind and all I could tell you you wont regret. It have a very powerful staying power could be for days and I recommend anyone who like something fresh citrusy type of perfume.

Elenkina

This fragrance is amazing. I am finishing a 100ml bottle and can't get enough of it!!! Going to Harvey soon to buy a second one. Iris is my obsession! Love it, love it, love it.

cloyd42

So, here comes the "you don't sweat much for a fat girl" compliment: YOU DON'T SMELL MUCH FOR AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PERFUME. This opens with a powerful blast of isopropyl alcohol, which depending on your age, will make you think about shots in doctors' offices or mimeographed tests in school. It then settles into a wispy sad musk with a possibility of pepper and a memory of something green. This may also be my brain desperately searching for meaning in this void. Why do I feel like this is an elaborate prank?

Sillage: angstroms
Durability: forever I suppose
Fabulosity: the emperor's new clothes
Price to value ratio: awful

There is an error in Fragrance Notes. The base note of this Fragrance is not ISO E SUPER, but AMBROXAN (CAS 6790-58-5).

Brief encounter.

It's early morning in Stockholm, just you and a couple of other commuters on the platform. A sudden awareness of a stirring at the ticket barrier, a group of 3 figures push through. The figure at the front resembling Julian Assange, a subtle almost imperceivable sense of excitement rushes through you as you connect for just a moment...

Fanciful eh?! I love the escentrics, some more than others. The molecules are way too subtle for me. 01 & 02 being favourite. The above description may make 02 seem cold but it's not that, it's modern and warm and the blend is genius.

I saw a line drawing by Degas I think it was called 'a nude' in the Walker gallery Liverpool, it affected me more than anything that day because something about its simplicity 3 or 4 lines at most, it allowed me to 'fill in the gaps' stunningly simple yet perfect.

Geza Schoen has caused a bit of a stir in the perfume world. I love it!

ArtELLE

If I had to chose only 1 perfume to use for the rest of my like, it would be this one. Just PERFECT! Fresh, yet sensual and easy to wear.

This is a weird one!
After Molecule 02 I could only try this because there is no 01 in the shop. Still I think that's the only place where I can find these fragrances, absolutely unknown to most people.
I tried Escentric 02 and it smelled very weird to me. It's all about ambery note, very simple, nothing else and it's extremely light smelling to my nose. I think it works well with my chemistry, maybe with pretty all chemistries. Due to its subtlety I sprayed a good amount and went off into the city. I immediately noticed an old man behind me who passed by and stared at me with a curious attitude. I was in a good mood alltogether because I had a fine day. A girl behind me had the same behaviour of the old man.
I'm not sure the fragrance made any effect on me. I felt fine and more confident, but it could be due to other factors. After only a few minutes (very few) I could barely detect anything on my wrist and neck.
I went down in the crowded underground and only a few people looked at me, both men and women and almost smiled to me. This is veeeery strange, as normally nobody cares for anyone and not for me anyway.
Once at home I stressed my family saying: Smell this! How is it? What do you smell? Is it a smell or a stink?
My mother said it smelled like Anais Anais or another completely different scent she wears! I loathe both.
My father said it smelled very faint and a little bit like tobacco leaves! Tobacco leaves?!? I wonder what strange noses live in my family. He uses no perfume and basically hates pretty all, but fresh tobacco leaves must be a childhood smell for him. I totally dislike tobacco leaves. I would like to test it again and ask to other people around. Sometimes I'm such a teaser, but I'm basically curious!

Escentric Molecules fragrances are always such an interesting experience for me; they are definetly one of a kind perfumes and never fail to pique my curiousity.
Escentric 02 opens with a strange, almost woody aroma which quickly develops into a scent that i can only describe as 'celery-ish'. Just as quickly as I identify that however, a sense of cold sunshine develops; the description of this perfume says that it has a 'shining and brisk opening' which is completely true. To me, this brisk opening is reminiscent of the way you imagine morning sunshine on clean, untouched dunes of snow; the colour would be a soft smooth yellow.
Unfortunately for me, the odour of rubbing alcohol develops quite quickly and i lose the fragrance of 'cold sunshine'.
I would strongly recommend the curious try the Escentric perfumes, and try them with an open mind. They are very interesting.
