Gucci Rush by Gucci is a Chypre Fruity fragrance for women. Gucci Rush was launched in 1999. The nose behind this fragrance is Michel Almairac. Top notes are Peach, Californian Gardenia and African Freesia Petals; middle notes are Coriander, Damask Rose and Jasmine; base notes are Patchouli, Natural Vanilla and Vetiver.

This is Gucci's second fragrance for women. Gucci Rush is a very attractive and recognizable fragrance, impulsive and irresistible, just like love at first sight. The name of the fragrance "Rush" reminds of stimulative drug, very widespread in America during 1980s. The intensive red bottle has the shape of a video cassette tape, a very unusual and modern design. The fragrance is composed like a luscious exotic floral cocktail: Californian gardenia, South African freesia, jasmine and Turkish rose. Corriander, vanilla and patchouli emphasize the oriental character and uniqueness of this fragrance.

The top notes are gardenia and freesia; the heart is created of jasmine, Turkish rose and coriander, the drydown unites vanilla, patchouli and vetiver. The fragrance has a lingering trace that follows the woman and surrounds her from all sides. The perfume was created by Michel Almairac in 1999.

Gucci Rush smells like vinyl records, patchouli, peach schnapps, men's aftershave and milk. The peach schnapps are spilled and slightly dried on the sticky floor like in the aftermath of a wild party. It reminds me of the somewhat manic energy around the turn of the millennium when people were wondering if the world was going to end or what the future was about to reveal. To me Gucci Rush is contradictory in that it is reminiscent of both trying to have fun and melancholy. A deceptively joyful fragrance declaring brashly that the party is over.

Reminds me of the way video/dvd rental stores used to smell like.

If u have them layer this with december vanille paris corner. They just work together so beautifully ❤️

It’s available on the US website.

Found a reseller of this perfume online because I was so curious about it based on its reputation. Took a while to grow on me, and to be honest I still don’t understand why this was such a hit, but I do really like it. It makes me feel like a hot bitchy slut. I don’t go clubbing but this perfume makes me want to go clubbing. I feel like I should be wearing a tube top while smelling like this. If you can’t understand what’s cool about being trashy, it won’t be for you. But I love being a bimbo personally soooo…. Vibes.

Mhka2004

I have a big question, why in the past most perfumes had such an intense patchouli?
a big no from me, it's disgusting, especially when patchouli is combined with peach, it's worse.

rosetinteddream

I was sure I was not going to like this. Reading the very divisive reviews, along with comments mentioning “hairspray” “neon” “milk” “plastic” “fruitchouli”. My thoughts without smelling were like “what the f***?” But now that I have smelled it, yes. I get all of those comments. And for some this could be a nightmare to smell. But this is going to very quickly become a love, I can tell.

I was born 1992 so although I didn’t wear fragrances in the 90s, I was surrounded by them. I definitely recognize this scent profile, just like I did when I smelled a vintage bottle (haven’t smelled a current formulation) of Eden by Cacharel. And although these actually do have some similarities, I couldn’t bear Eden for more than an experiment. I wore it maybe 3 times before it found a new home. But this, I sprayed a few hours ago, and I want to spray it again! Addictive! I haven’t looked at the batch code for mine yet. And I did just receive it in the mail from the grey market a few hours ago, so I’m not judging its performance just yet. It doesn’t seem as strong as I was imagining from the comments, but I still am getting lovely whiffs so perhaps to people around me this would be stronger.

This is my first Gucci love, yeah I’m just gonna say I love it. I’ve only tried modern Gucci fragrances, besides the men’s version of Envy (reminds me too much of old school masculines - which I don’t like), and they all fell flat and generic to me. *One day I’ll find a way to try others released during Tom Ford’s reign.* This does not feel generic. It feels truly unique. And as a gay man, I now see why other gay men have loved wearing this. Aside from the substance reference lol. And fragrance knows no gender to me, you like what you like. Life is too short to try and live by others expectations. I also love the bottle. I’ve read through comments and many find it ugly. I find it charming. It reminds me of the red plastic boombox I had. Along with all the plastic I remember from being a kid. And I think it has a nice almost “retro mod/futuristic” look, if that makes sense. Btw, this gives me some kinda vibe that is similar to I think Chance by Chanel. Perhaps Chance (albeit spicier IMO) is the well behaved side of one’s personality, and maybe Rush is everything after dark. 😉

Neon peach rings. Late nights at a club. Dancing. Hairspray. Blue cocktails. MDMA. Being in another man’s bedroom only lit up by the neon light on the wall across from his bed.

Subhuman

Vintage version starts off more blatantly fruity, along with more pungent coriander and overripe aldehydes (I'm wearing a 24-year-old formula, mind - newer batches are brighter on the open). But in less than 10 minutes, Gucci Rush is down to business as usual. Hairspray, peach candy, plastic doll head, Grandma's dusting powder, Scotch tape, ImpossibleGardenia™, brown-sugar musk (think Narciso's white cube), vetiver, patchouli, [insert oakmoss synthetic here], a whiff of your older brother's cologne from down the hall, and milk. These flabbergasting accords somehow transmogrify into a humming, neon-like aura that's warm, sensual, sophisticated, nostalgic...and maddeningly, bafflingly addictive. Don't worry about reformulation - the current Rush is just as weird and wonderful (and strong!) as it's ever been, and after years of fearing its discontinuation, I think I can confidently say it's here to stay for a while. Get comfortable and enjoy it. Or don't; you won't be alone. Either way, it's like no other perfume you'll ever smell.

rosyjen

Smells like Coco Mademoiselle's trashy, but loveable sister. My Rush is from the early 2000's. I love it, but don't wear it out of the house because it is very permeating and a little raunchy. On me I get that sweet plastic doll scent, peaches, strawberry yogurt, and something else unidentifiable, maybe that's the sex/raunchy part. Definitely not patchouli, as I really don't like that scent. This lasts for days on clothing a solid 12 on skin.

SKY AND SOUL

Парфюм- шедьовър! Уникален, класен.

Saveria

This is a “strong” perfume, with an exceptional sillage ; timid refrain!

A beautiful scent of white flowers, woody, with a hint of peach and enhanced by coriander which gives a spicy and punchy side to the whole. I really liked it and wore it in the past because, I make no secret of it, I love when the sillage is good !

Note that the coriander is well dosed because in certain perfumes, it bothers me terribly. Here, not at all.

For self-confident women who don't care about how others look at them.

Red Scharlach

I applied it at 10 a.m. and was immediately overwhelmed by a blast of white floral--but not 80s white floral, because there was a hint of something synthetic and plasticy that dampened the assault and paradoxically added to the appeal. It was instantly recognizable as a late 90s, Millennial-Gen Z cusper. If I could situate Gucci Rush in a piece of media, it would be The Sweetest Thing, one of the most rotten films of the aughts ("You're too big to fit in here!") and yet second only to Charlie's Angels in epitomizing the aesthetics of Y2K. Specially, the early clubs scenes, replete with asymmetrical crop tops, corsets, and bootcut pants riding low on impossibly flat stomachs accentuated with a belly chain. But I digress...the rose followed quickly on the heels of the gardenia and freesia and, by 1:00, the vanilla was enthusiastically announcing itself as well. Then, around 2:00, the fabled patchouli sprouted at last, completing the four-hour journey from floral to lactonic to chypre and announcing the final movement of a wonderfully discordant symphony. Who knew that a slow burn really could feel like such a rush?

dlst08

Smells like fancy 00s nightclub restrooms - the attendant in the ladies' would always have this in her arsenal of pay-per-spray fragrances and I guess some ladies did avail (or the scent-profile was being replicated by other chemicals used on-site...) because the smell is sooo evocative. It's also just a great perfume, & although I'm still not a fan of the cinnamon note I actually find Rush's freesia-peach-patchouli-plastic very wearable now.

Galbanum108

the combination of patchouli and vanilla gives a suede scent. This is the beautiful smell of a well-groomed woman.

jakoblotta

As time went by, this fragrance turns out to be far more conceptual than at times of its greatest glory. I find the current formulation airy, subtly industrial and almost aquatic. Cherish this! 7/10

meadowcorolla

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I do love the fruity floral notes but I'm not sure if it's the coriander or the patchouli or the combination of both that I don't like. I've never actually smelled coriander in perfume and I've definitely had perfumes with patchouli but I'm not able to discern which of the two I don't like in Rush. It has this peppery scent that makes it hard to love. When first sprayed it on I thought "ok this is nice it's unique" but then then that pepper like scent becomes stronger and stronger to me. It's a bit confusing. It does last and it does project, it's unfortunate it's not really for me but maybe it will grow on me eventually.

hennuv

Absolutely not for an innocent person or a crowdpleaser but someone that is confident, sexy and familiar with nightlife because I am getting faux-leather dresses/pants/corsets, nightclubs, strong liquor cocktails, lipsticks and trails of chemicals. A little bit of an illegal fantasy. Everything late 90s and early 2000s hid in itself I can smell from this. Definitely not unpleasant but a very distinctive fragrance that is unlike anything I have smelled before.

TheCandyperfumegirl

Gucci Rush is a beautiful combination of Peach,White florals, Patchouli and Vanilla with a waxy and plastic vibe. It's a bold, unique and sexy perfume which will leave a trail wherever you go and people are bound to turn their heads. Some may find it a bit synthetic & maybe even vintage, but that's what makes this perfume so exceptional than other perfumes. It's a fragrance you should wear when you want to go out for fun & get noticed. This reminds me of a carnival full of cotton candies, fruits, flowers and adventurous rides. The perfume was named after a stimulative dr*ug which was really widespread in America during 1980's. And maybe that's why the perfume smells so intoxicating, rebellious and enigmatic. It's not for the shy girl but perfect for the lady who wants to get noticed. Not a safe blind buy but if you don't mind something bold and a bit timeless then you can give this perfume a try.

🌸Gucci Rush is extremely long lasting on my skin. And it projects very nicely. In fact if you spray more than 7/8 sprays then it may fill the whole room announcing your arrival.

🌸 Perfect for parties and hangouts. You can wear this all year round but better avoiding it during hot sunny days. But it's ok for breezy summer evenings.

🌸The bottle is a nice addition to the vanity. Video Cassette shaped unique design and the bold red color makes it look really eye catching and interesting. It brings back memories of the 90's ❤️

twoism

A synthetic floral fragrance. Very distinctive and plasticky, could only have been spawned by the 90's. The bottle is an absolutely genius piece of design as it perfectly reflects the scent: a synthetic, red note, all treble, completely devoid of bass. This is a "high" fragrance. Comparisons to Cacharel's Eden are completely on point. Although interesting pieces of art, both fragrances exist to me as a suggestion of a headache waiting to appear. Yes it smells like poppers.

scenturian

Some say it is synthetic or plasticky, well that was the goal.
An Iconic masterpiece. Avant-garde and merciless.
Only for the confident.
Gucci was still Gucci when this was launched.

The scent of guilty pleasure...

hwoaarang

absolutely adore this one, my mother used to wear it in the early 2000s and it's still such an iconic scent. On the first spray it might be a bit intense but it mellows out into a lovely warm spiciness. I'd go as far as to describe it as a lighter more floral Elixir des Mervailles by Hermes if that makes sense.

Xtrbrownsug

This perfume smells amazing. It's an easy reach, great everyday fragrance that's not offensive. These fragrances from the 90's and early 2000's really do it for me.
I found this in a local Ross store for $49.99. Great buy!

L.rist

My addiction. How have I skipped writing you a review?! It's a scent you don't forget and you can't compare it to anything else. Even after radically simplifying my shelf, I am so horrified at the thought of this being discontinued, I have a stacked supply. Even after all this time and reformulations, this is a perfume you can smell from the box even before you spray it for the first time. And boy, does it last.

Notes: think the top note as a smashed peach by vinyl high heel boots. The heart is a strong, in-your-face jasmine, touch of rose, all blended in milky vanilla. Then all of this carried by dark, daddy patchouli.

It's my ultimate "I'm going out and I'm looking for trouble" perfume. I wear it not when I want attention, but when I know I'm getting it. I sniff it when I need a mood lift. It's addictive. Powerful. Sexy. It's obvious and in your face and it doesn't fucking care. It's such a mood. I am so happy this is slept on by the younger generation (for now), as I know I won't smell myself on others among the Good Girls and Black Opiums. I've had men follow my scent trail at parties just to tell me it's the sexiest thing they've smelled. I feel like with the right marketing it could make a bomb comeback, because this is both nostalgic and futuristic in the same time. It cannot go out of fashion. It makes people go crazy, and I am proudly one of them. It will always have place on a rave in Berlin, on a sunrise walk at 6am in Rome, on a dress on the floor in a room you've never been in. God, how I fucking love you Rush. Please stay, always.

nonelle

Rush is a very unique scent. The opening is very fresh peach, but there's also heavy batch of patchouli and white flowers. For me, it smells plasticky and synthetic, but not in a bad way if that makes any sense. I love waxy lipstick type of scents, so this is not quite my cup of tea, but I find it intriguing.

Deliza1997

I don't know how to describe this scent, I can't pick up any definitive note from it. Smells like aromatic candy, if that makes any sense. An aromatic cologne sprinkled with fruity candy dust. It smells good, don't get the amount of hate it gets.

Ilayda Fenty

My mum had this and it was my favourite to steal hahaha it is a really feminine scent it brings out your energy and confidence I love this one I do believe it is a good buy for 20+ y.o. and prefer to wear when going out

tudorsmells

neon, ostentatious and plasticky. it opens up like a barbie you sprayed with your moms perfume when you were young and you can still smell her hair. then, it transforms into a deep red smell (idk) that kinda smells like a woman who grew out of her party days but is still wild at heart. intoxicating patchouli mixed with fruits, you can definitely identify why young women and gay men wore this in the late nineties/early 2000s, since it's sweet and almost crowd pleasing, but it's too strange and gnarly to smell like any of the tedious cotton candy scents of nowadays. i have a sort of respect for this, yet idk if i would wear it. also, it has that vibe of doing a whore's bath after a hookup and you can still smell last night's perfume and the glitter and the sticky bar. beautiful, but my personality isnt big enough to encompass all of this.

hellogoddag

Candy, plastic & steam machines at the disco.
I´ve come across this scent many times without knowing what it was.
I like it.
But it is a bit much to handle too often

Zanerkand

Very quirky bottle 🙂.

This is absolutely beautiful. I don't understand why people are so dismissive of 90s fragrances. CK One is still one of my favourites and I'll be enjoying this for a long time as well.

It's very powerful; perfect for the cold weather. Some people have described it as otherworldly and electric and whilst that doesn't describe the scent, it certainly describes the vibe.

The patchouli and vanilla are prominent. Huge compliment getter. You'll love it and so will others.

I really wanted to like it, but sorry to say, this didn't agree with me at all. I tried to give it time but hours later, I still couldn't get on with it. Best way to describe how it smells to me is artificial fruit-scented disinfectant, if there ever was one, resting on a backdrop of a sweet sandalwood. Smells that seem discordant with each other rather than harmonious. Also didn't smell any patchouli in it, yet its description says it is there. Usually patchouli fragrances are hit and miss with me, but in this case, I didn't get any of that. Interesting that this was inspired by the use of poppers in clubs. When I was much younger, I have tried poppers in a club eh... I was quite out of it that night but I remember that I felt nauseous and sick suddenly and threw up on the club floor in front of people, so not a great memory 😅 Maybe that's why I didn't like it. This is a very Marmite fragrance so try it before you buy.

joeyj0jo

I love Gucci Rush! It's one of my favourites at the moment -- so unique and intriguing, yet very easy to like. I never smelt it when it first came out, but it doesn't smell like it came out in the late '90s; it was definitely ahead of its time.

For a fragrance featuring peach and white florals, it is very ballsy -- the patchouli and coriander give it a bite. I do get the "electronics" smell that some have described -- like wires that have been fried from a power surge or a remote control car that's been used constantly for a couple of hours, but in the most appealing way possible.

It's not delicate or pretty; it's bold and edgy. It reminds me of a woman who is feminine and classy but has masculine energy -- maybe skateboards on the weekends and has hidden tough tattoos.

I don't understand why it has such low ratings for spring and summer wear -- it's a warm fragrance, but it's not too sweet or suffocating. I've been wearing it in pretty warm weather and to the gym and have loved it. This could be a signature scent.

Performance is fantastic (I am a bit of an over sprayer -- 8 sprays mainly on clothes); after 8 hours, it wafts up to my nose if I start walking around. It lasts all day on clothes and 5ish hours on skin.

Olgita

I like Gucci Rush. Always have and always will. To me it does not smell scandalous, vulgar or dated. Yes it was perceived like that in the beginning when it just came out, but I always liked it and will continue to ware it. To me, Rush and Clive Christian X smell very similar, so why pay more?

Enrium

[975] I have wanted to try Gucci Rush for a long time. An avant-garde composition that is the epitome of the futuristic Y2K aesthetic, its opaque red rectangular bottle was cutting edge - much like the scent housed within. It is also the polar opposite of the minimal L'Eau d'Isseys/CK Ones that summed up the 1990s - again, perhaps looking to the future. A bold fruitchouli with a heady white floral heart, it is an extroverted, polarising scent, made for nightclubbing. I found a tester (modern bottle obviously) in a pharmacy and I was surprised by how familiar it is - it resembles Cacharel Eden and perhaps others (but this is much better than Eden).

Rush opens with sweet, juicy peach followed closely by the creamy white floral accord that defines this scent. There is a camphorous green undertone to the opening that amps up the volume while remaining cohesive. Some peppery spice follows.

As it develops, jammy rose rears its head, joining the lush, sweet white florals. The modern chypre quality is unmistakable as the cloud of patchouli emerges, earthy and slightly muddy, making for a nice counterpoint to the bold floral sweetness. The vetiver complements it nicely, woody and dry. The peach persists, keeping things fruity throughout.

A liberal dose of vanilla adds sweetness to the base, alongside a slightly salty amber accord. It is smooth and creamy, complementing and prolonging the florals. The earthiness remains, underscoring the second act of Rush. It fades to a sweet vanilla skin scent punctuated by earthy patchouli until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. It is a feminine autumn/winter evening scent.

Intoxicating, lush and bold, Rush is also very well-composed and avoids being "kitchen-sink-y", which was what I expected. An edgy, brilliant time capsule that is still wearable today, Rush is to be worn with confidence. 4.5/5.

This fragrance makes me feel like i should be at a night club taking eccies. Super synthetically sweet but somehow in the best way possible. Always find myself holding my wrist up to my nose whenever I wear it because the smell is so addicting!
Wish it lasted longer.

Man’s review. This and Bvlgari
Blv Notte my favorites for women all time for me. Genius, Michael Almairac new this was a classic real woman smell, that’s why he made so many versions in different brands. This is still a mature dated classic. My mother and Grand mother still loves it In 2023. Only a grown mature or classic woman can wear this. Prob 28 age and up. Teenagers will not understand. If you want the best of Gucci Rush in the purest less synthetic 90 percent form, You should Try Clive X Woman you will love it and buy it. If you cannot afford Clive X, get Azalee Lalique, it’s lovely ladies….

Bhavnalovesscents

This one is a classic. For the longest time, I thought it has been discontinued … because a lot of stores do not carry it. But out of all the places I found one at Maldives Airport duty free in 2019. I instantly picked it up and i have it since then. Honestly I considered this to be extremely unique, but recently when I smelled Eden by cacharel, I realised they are quite similar … I also started to notice similarities with a lot of new launches. Even lady million by paco the pink one is similar. I will definitely have it as a collectors perfume in my collection, more like vintage, but not a fan Anymore. I remember this being like magic in a bottle when I was much younger but at this point after smelling so many nice and unique fragrances, my love for this has gone down. But I guess for anyone who would smell it for the first time there is a high possibility of it becoming an instant love.

LadyT33

I wore this when it first came out. Would not wear it now. It’s too synthetic and strong for me and I love strong perfumes. I loved it at one time. I love the red square bottle. It’s funny how your tastes can change.

hotbaby1

Best scent ever. Sexy, a little sweet, absolutely intoxicating and addictive. One of the best fragrances ever created. I used it then and I’m using it now. But I found myself with so many perfumes now that I have an extra large brand new bottle I can let go if you are in the US.

1999 Vintage Ethereal Tragically Cool PEACH CHYPRE with White-Florals by Michel Almairac. Overall it's a gorgeous, ethereal, airy, cool peach chypre, that sucks you in with the intoxicating drydown. Being sucked in is perhaps the only thing this scent bears in common with the film of the same name, Rush (1991). The mood here is more in keeping with the tragic coolness of Baz Luhrmann's cinematic retelling of Romeo + Juliet (1996). I could imagine Juliet (played by Claire Danes) wearing this scent the night she first meets Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio), seeing him for the first time as a stranger through an aquarium. In this way, Gucci Rush is like a re-interpretation of the classic chypre genre, with a tragically cool flair popular to the late 90s. Being Canadian, I tend to associate tragic coolness with The Tragically Hip, and a certain era. While tragic coolness still retains its currency in some quarters today, later versions of Gucci Rush have been reformulated and watered down - Batch code: 7129 (2017-05-09), but dark storage after first sprays helps with this. The longevity is there, but the sillage takes some time to wake-up.

The opening before the spray dries has some fresh, near-green & fruity tones, and distantly reminds me of the opening of Colors de Benetton (Original). Once the spray dries and the sillage starts to open up, I get ethereal, cool, airy white-florals and soft peach, with an earthy patchouli underneath. I catch glimpses of Rogue Rihana, but this is way more delicate in its current formulation. While this isn't a dupe of anything, the peach notes are done in a way that some will recognize as the work of master perfumer, Michel Almairac, and bring to mind some of his other popular creations featuring peach, lending a slight vintage vibe here. In the drydown I get an earthy patchouli with dark near-licorice-y tones that reminds me of Fancy Nights Jessica Simpson only this is way softer.

The bottle is unique, and some find it avant-gard, but personally I would rather have heavy glass and be able to see how much air is inside in order to improve the performance. However, the secrecy does add to the mystique and vibe of a disorientating rush. Overall, this scent does evoke the feeling of an ethereal, cool, lightheaded rush, and it's become a love for me. Enjoy!

Alexafit

I absolutely love gucci rush and I just bought a new bottle directly from gucci site. I remember long time ago my sister would spray it on herself in high school and the scent would start off exactly how the scent now dries down. I can even smell the current dry down after I shower and it's the best part of the fragrance for me. I'm not sure if gucci added more top notes over the years but I'd love to find a fragrance that starts off (as it did years ago) exactly like the current formulation ends. I looked up the base notes of rush and they are listed as rich vanilla, java patchouli, bourbon vetiver. If anyone knows of a fragrance that predominantly has these notes, please let me know.

LadyIva- Rush was released in 1999

Rush bottle in my opinion is avantgarde, innovative and unique. Just like the scent. I love it.

V_rose29

This has to be one of my favourite perfumes ever gucci rush is what started my obsession with fragrances.

For me I get a lot of peach, vanilla and some floral notes to me it’s so interesting and unique.
I remember back in the early 2000s my mum always wore this and I always use to spray some on. It has been reformulated longevity isn’t how I remember but it does last about 6 hrs.

I will always have this perfume in my collection I wear this mostly in colder weather I also get alot of compliments when I wear this. This perfume isn’t for everyone but if you love it like me you’ll understand why it’s just so captivating

[email protected]

I absolutely adored this fragrance, and I wore it for a short time. But it was just too heavy. It would have been a keeper (and frankly, had more longevity on the market) if it had simply been less heavy. I would have loved to have the same exact fragrance, but dialed down.

Writing this review with a broken heart... this was the perfume I used to wear 10 years ago when my husband fell in love with me and he went crazy for this perfume. He associated this perfume with me. And today I wore it, as he picked up the last boxes from what used to be our home. He walked right past me and stopped, looked me in the eye and said "you are wearing your Gucci Rush"... I have a collection of 100+ perfumes, yet this is the one he never failed to recognize. I am going through the hardest time of my life right now, and I know I will recover someday from this separation... but this perfume will forever hold such a strong and powerful space in my life... will I wear it again? I just don't know...This is that perfume, that represents not only me... but us.

I love this perfume it’s addictive and unique and weird. It opens like intense peachy shampoo and banana peels, and dries down to smell like peaches and cookies. If it were a color it would be that translucent neon pink that looks orange from certain angles. Current formulation lasts well but doesn’t project much, unfortunately, I wish people could smell me through a wall when wearing this. It’s prettiest in cooler weather but I try to get away with wearing it all year. Not for everyone but the girls who get it, get it💅🏼

mdluli

The patchouli is scratchy with the sweet peach, it's not for everyone it's either you like it or not.I like it, it has been in my collection since 2003.

I wrote my review of this beauty two years ago.
I tried the scent a couple of weeks ago again in an airport duty free shop after 15 years or so.
I was surprised and excited to find it, because I have been looking for it for a long time and couldn't find it in shops. I have also read that it was allegedly discontinued. But what a disappointment, after applying it: it is a shadow of what it used to be: it is watered down, diluted, pale version of the original that I wore for years when it was released and loved.
What a shame. 😐

P. S. "fake"? "plastic"? I have *never* perceived this beauty like that.
What about: Sexy, exciting, energising, head turner, uplifting, attention getter, WOW what is THAT?! (my reaction when I first smelled it on my coworker),
luscious, magnetic, irresistible, glam, fascinating and unique.

When you look at promotional videos and ads for the scent, there's lots of sexual implications. I perceive the scent as very sexy and the name as relating to sexuality.

scenturian

@ludicmlady nailed it. I don't have anything to add.

Lovaloo

Soft peachy jasmine heart with a lot of strange textural nuances to give this perfume some serious heft. The patchouli note is scratchy, the sour peach is milky, the white flowers are creamy, the vanilla is powdery, the vetiver is ashy. These notes come together and form a strange sensation of static electricity, as if you're about to be shocked. A "Rush" indeed.

Deliberately cheap smelling and quite bizarre, but absolutely not one-dimensional. The bottle perfectly matches the scent; bright red, garish, plastic. Tom Ford claims to take artistic inspiration from Jeff Koons, and in this release I see it.

Gillzathrillza

This is pure early 2000s nostalgia in a bottle. It actually makes me excited when I smell it (and I cannot.stop.sniffing.it), which I guess is the point.

Delicious, powerful, bright and exciting. Plus, it outperforms a lot of the perfumes I bought for twice the price. Can’t argue with the power of this one. A winner for sure.

Coopfrag

Love Gucci rush, it’s so unusual but I can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s lasts a good 10-12 hours but I am an over sprayer.

Msala140

I just received this perfume about 2 days ago. I can say right off the bat, I am loving this one!!!

This was a complete blind buy success , after watching some YouTube videos on how unique it was w its plastic fruit scent . I just had to try it out. I sprayed it on my arm before my workout .

I was hit with a strong plastic-peach scent a long with the gardenia and then i fought a whiff of something Spicy. On my skin, this spice kinda smelled like spicy chilli peppers which I thought was pretty cool since I love hot peppers lol but it was the coriander along with the patchouli which I think went well w the vanilla after the dry down . After a few hours even after set my workout, I still smelled the plastic peach with vanilla, vetiver and patchouli .

I love this scent , and will probably use it as a night time, going out fragrance . It’s definitely an attention getter , and the projection is prettty strong and makes its presence known. I don’t think I can wear this during the hot weather here in FL ( which is year round!) and will have to mainly use it when it’s gets below 60 or nighttime. Either way i will definitely have to repurchase this unique scent . Love it

pennyperfume

I recently bought a 50ml bottle for $200 because i used to love it years ago. Now it smells different on me if anyone would like to buy it off me for half price pls message me. I only used it twice.

ludicmilady

Synthetic smell, here it's purposeful.
Gucci Rush has a plastic smell, a perfumed plastic, the name comes from a category of drug called Poppers, also called Rush, that once inhaled, causes immediate reactions in those who use it, very common in the US in the 80s. It's a unique perfume, it has something psychedelic about it, an unearthly smell (this one should be called Alien). When I smell it I think of the movie Enter the Void and also Requiem for a Dream; neon lights, drugs, sex, ballads in the 2000s, LSD, things like that, as the name suggests.

hellebelle

Amber, since the balloons update your review won’t disappear anymore if people downvote it. If you’re lucky you’ll just get a pink jackass balloon! 💕

My mother has been using this fragrance for years, and unfortunately it’s one that bugs me. Overall it’s a nice fragrance, but unfortunately there’s one note that is extremely penetrant. It’s the kind of note that gets in your nose and you can’t shake it, no matter what you do. My mum doesn’t overspray perfumes, so that’s not the issue, the note just enters your nose and latches into your mucus membranes and stays there for the rest of the day.

I’m not entirely sure which note bothers me so much, as I’ve always never truly ‘investigated’ the scent, or sprayed it on myself, due to disliking it. I don’t think it’s the patchouli, unless It’s a patch that smells fairly different to the patchouli in my own fragrances. It might be the vetiver, although I don’t get this type of sharpness from my own fragrances with vetiver either. Perhaps it’s a combination of vetiver, patchouli and coriander that doesn’t work for my nose, or perhaps I dislike synthetic patchouli, but do appreciate natural patchouli..

Long story short; this fragrance isn’t for everyone, so don’t buy it blind. It’s also absolutely not office safe as it has a very prominent note that some people strongly dislike and has a very strong silage. This is a note that people will smell the moment they enter the room.

NB: I wrote this review as I believe many or most negative reviews on this fragrance have been deleted. Please do NOT downvote reviews because you don’t agree with them. They will be deleted forever, and everyone puts in time and effort into trying to help people form their own opinion and decide on a purchase. Both positive and negative reviews help with that. I adore this perfume so much. First, it was one of my mom`s signatures in 2000s, so it has sentimental value. Second, I looove the concept. It is a bowl of juicy plastic peaches. It smells so fake through and through, powdery and a bit bitter from gardenia and florals. Amazing blend, so beautiful, otherworldly but grounded. Whimsical urban fairy dust.

I have new bottle from 2022, but I don’t feel much difference from the smell from my childhood. Performance is beastly, I literally use one-two sprays and all-day smell like a fussy plastic peach. I think might be best in warmer weather.

ElonorCrush

Late 90's early 2000s. This perfume was a present from my sister to my mum. I remember the whole room smelling once she sprayed them. I am a massive fan of patchuli therefore this might be why i like them. As a little girl, I've imagined the Gucci Rush being a signature smell of a successful New yorker in her late 20s, 30s. Sophisticated, always on her best behaviour and head turning. I've read that this scent has lost its lust and strength since. Also, someone compared it to Rihannas Rogue, I sort of agree. Although it is quite similar, I find the Rogue had a strong leather smell to it and Rush doesn't.

Perfumerista17

I love the way the patchouli radiates beneath the almost plastic-y fruity note. Like a person with a magnetic, yet quiet charm this fragrance has a strength that sneaks up on you and a dusky warmth that makes me think of late summer, early autumn.

doya

A true original. Unique. There aren't that many perfumes that are this recognizable and leave such a strong impression. And transport you back to the end of the 20th century, whoever was old enough to feel the armosphere at that time must appreciate this, if not because they like the smell (i find the audience pretty polarizing when it comes to this one, and I do understand it), then because of the vibe that it captured so perfectly. I recommend to anyone younger who wishes to get a feel of that late 90s/early 00s era to try and sniff this. It's a LOVE from me!

selinacat

This...is...legendary.
There are certain perfumes that get you. They are intense, and real, and just special. This is one of those scents. It is truly unique and special. I don't know if they've messed with the formula or not, but for an EDT this is a BEAST.

I have a huge collection, and this is the only one I have a backup of. I love it that much. This and og The One are two of the most magnificent peach scents ever.

Indianrunnerduck

I agree with Petrichor134. I would only add that I detect hot sauna benches and butter mint humbugs as well. I like it.

_Aerides

Medicinal gardenias, candied peach flavouring, spicy coriander and a ton of plastic patchouli; sooooo delicious, sexy, with a masculine edge to it, heavy but crisp *chef's kiss* This is a perfumery masterpiece 🥹👌🍑🌿

Petrichor134

Despite the marketing and this red, plastic bottle this perfume never gave me the 90' feel, electronic era, VHS generation. It always smelled quite mysterious and peculiar. It might sound insane but if this came in a different bottle, if it was marketed differently...this is what i imagine Gucci Alchemist garden collection would smell like. Well, not the garden, but the interior of an alchemist cupboard or apothecary table. Very camphor like smell, medicinal gardenia and mint syrup, coriander seeds mixed with various other fragrant seeds that fell out of pouches. Thick and sweet cough syrup, aromatic wooden drawers made out of exotic wood. The interior mixes with wind from the outside from an open window, sweet and heavy just before the rain. I guess there is a garden outside, with flowers you can't identify. But still, the smell of garden is just from the open window and the earthy smell rises as the weather is turning. It's like a medicine from those vintage vials, left soaking in the grain of the wood and as the liquid evaporates thick syrup is formed. I was a child when this one was popular. I've never smelt it on others in a club or at a party, never met someone wearing it , never seen the commercial until I discovered fragrantica, so my impression is completely different. I understand the vibe this goes along with, but as those illusions of a dancer spinning I can simply switch it in my mind and create another story.

Hellensmeller

I have been using this perfume since 2008 or so. I have repurchased it multiple times and was always happy, even as of last year 2022. The scent has always been consistent, the sillage has always been strong and it has always been long lasting.

I recently (June 2023) repurchased it again from the official Gucci website, as my last bottle ran out, and unfortunately the scent has changed. The scent is no longer as powerful and the sillage is noticeable weaker.
I cannot help to be disappointed since this has been one of my “standard” perfumes for so many years and I used to receive many compliments even hours after application.

I will look for a new signature scent and most likely will not repurchase this again. Worth noting that the price was $105 on the Gucci website, the bottle I bought last year (2022) was $80 for reference.

Very sad and disappointed to say the least. I am hoping that with some time sitting around that the perfume might develop a bit, if so I will update this review.

km1266

Powdery, synthetic, peach bubblegum ❤️ the patchouli and vanilla is more noticeable after awhile, it reminds me of Rogue by Rihanna but it smells less cheap. I like it because it reminds me of the 80s, girls with big hair and red lipstick. Very unique and polarizing perfume

Xenabea

I had this years ago when it came out and I loved it. I can’t believe it gets such low marks. There is no way Patchouli is that deep in this scent. I wore this all the time and I hate Patchouli. I don’t know why companies try to reissue originals that are not exactly the same. If a company wants to make a new fragrance they should… and call it something else. So frustrating. The same can be said for Miss Dior Cherie and J’adore.

Kate_the_Iris

I am one of those oldies who remember when it was first released. I was in love with it. I don’t have it anymore, but some say it has been reissued, but it does not smell just like the original.

Gucci Rush is what is in its name – Rush. It is fast and furious, it is sharp, straight to the point, strong statement, like who is the boss. Powdery? Yes but strong. Might come across a bit synthetic as a result. But once it wears off, its aftertaste is milder and smells actually quite proper and expensive. Could surely be confused with some contemporary niche brand. Definitely a memorable scent, not your average Joe.

Great longevity and projection.

girlhaggard

The is is what Rachel’s red lipstick smells like in Blade Runner.
Starts off smelling like polly pocket shoes and scented erasers, dries down to smelling like when you try to cover up cigarette smell with body spray.
202X retrofuturism, a world where real fruits haven’t existed in a generation. Sweet in an incense way without leaning gourmandaise.
It’s fake and synthetic in the best way, and for me it smells the same way as blue raspberry, as in a replication of something that no longer exists or maybe never did.
Definitely polarizing and not for the faint of heart, but that’s what I love about it.
This was also my aunt’s signature scent when I was growing up and I blind bought it without realizing. So I love that the scent memory is passed down.

lady_ireth264

I have never smelled the OG Rush but this recent formulation is definitely weak.
It is a fresh pretty scent great for summer.
The mix of peach with freesia and gardenia very inviting.
I am not familiar with play-doh so I don't understand that smell reference and cannot comment on it.
It's rather linear on me though.
The scent gets a little bit deeper maybe coriander and vetiver show up but I don't get any other notes.
Disappears after 3 hrs, so longevity is not there. Projection moderate
Would I repurchase? No. It's not complex enough, but I'll finish this bottle.
I prefer Britney Spears Fantasy than this for my current summer rotation.

Sweetthang

The first time I smelled Gucci rush was in ‘99. Folding back the stuck together edge of a scratch and sniff fragrance add in Cosmo, my soul was wrapped in a cozy cashmere blanket with comfort. Reminiscent of Banana medicine, a creamy coconut, vanilla dessert and clouds of whipped cream. Intoxicating in the best way. I begged my mom for gucci rush for years. I finally got it for Christmas and savoured it till it was gone. I recently bought a bottle, the formula seems weaker and more plasticy, just not the same. It is strange to me that I never noticed peach until I read other reviews. Rush will always be a staple in my collection for anytime I need a whiff of nostalgia. A versatile scent, great in summer but to me smells best on a cold winter day.

lmnsvgz

Sweet peach with a slight hint of earthy patchouli in the base. NOT as bad as people say and definitely not as loud.

dismalharmony

I have a decant of the current formulation. To my nose this is Gucci’s own Accenti, stripped of everything that made it interesting and with the sugar dial turned all the way up. Sweet synthetic peach, some sort of flower (freesia?) if you squint, and not much else. The drydown is better, a touch of rose and patchouli… but still falling short for me. I fail to understand why this is classified as a chypre.
I struggle to find anything shocking, subversive, or sexy in Rush, but I’m happy others do. I’ve really enjoyed reading through the differing opinions on this fragrance. Diversity adds beauty to the tapestry of human life!

Tony Shades

Bizarre synthetic plasticky floral fruity patchouli fragrance. Definitely not for someone who hates artificial scents and expects at least a natural vibe if not real naturals in a fragrance.

Spicadk

First impression on paper. I think i like the smell, it reminds me of something, but i dont know what. Maybe apple? It smells mysterious in a good way, like sour fruit. its very unique. I almost cant describe what i smell. Smell like reciving a hug, at the beach in the summer. Comforting and fresh. Instead of red, the bottle should have had a nude peach or orange color.
Update, still on paper. Smells like a sour fruit drink. I have not tried it on the skin yet.. I dont dare 😂 so far, this might be the worst parfume ever for me.

ViciousVirgo

I think Gucci Rush has been re-released? Sephora had it a few mos back, it’s on Gucci site, fragnet etc.

I vaguely remember it from the 90s but somehow I never owned it. So I had to try it (fragnet, 1oz) I guess I didn’t realize it’s an edt? It lasts prob +- an hr on my skin, but on my clothes… I sprayed it on my sleeve yesterday and can still faintly smell it 24 hrs later.

And it smells okay? I do like it, like it doesn’t smell bad, just not as earth shattering as I thought it would be, so a tad disappointed. Fruity, patchouli, plasticky, peach. Glad I tried it tho & at least can get an idea of what it was like… but do wish I could’ve smelled it back in the day as I’m sure the reform has not done it any favors.

PurpleShadow

This smells like a red vintage leather jacket from the year 2400.

limonika

Sexy, sexy, sexy! Bold! The IT girl. The price is crazy low for this quality. My clothes smells like it DAYS after I’ve worn them. My boyfriend rarely says something because I always smell nice. But to this he always says: WOW! You smell AMAZING. And Its true. What a queen this perfume is. Such a strong character. A leader, an icon. The type of girl that you turn behind to look at. Quite an ugly gesture, really… but you have to. Outstanding. I don’t think this is “old” or “heavy”. Alot of bad reviews I was scared to try this. Never fully trust reviews. WOW!

mirimermaid

chaos in a bottle, in a really cute way. It's an Aries scent! it has a certain off putting edge to it, like a very attractive girl who starts bargaining at the counter or forgets her table manners.

deeya

I used to have it and love it during my teenage years.
Out of nostalgia, I recently purchased it and it was not the very same: it is much weaker than it used to be.
I get the burnt plastic smell but in the best way! It is peachy, sweet and still has a place in my collection.

Yes Malena

RB2002, I think another oldie that might have smelled similar (but nowhere near as gorgeous) was Samba from Perfumer's Workshop. Do you feel that at all? I don't have Samba anymore to compare, but as I recall, the fruity opening and the dry oakmoss was similar to the coriander in Rush...

Harley522

Sweet newborn baby’s breath, warm milk, hairspray, Barbie doll, clubbing to death, ….
It evokes all this feelings and put me in a happy mood. This perfume stands the test of time, it’s not dated despite being on a market for quite a long time.
The bottle is also a masterpiece, simple, effective and practical.
Soundtracks: Prince - Baby I’m a Star
Vanity 6 - Nasty Girl

RB2002

The mix of florals and patchouli smells very familiar and like something I had in the 80s. This smells like a big haired rocker chick with lots of makeup in an 80s hair band video. Since this didn’t come out until 1999, I’m trying to figure out what 80s perfume smelled like this. I think it might have been Revlon Trouble (An Invitation To Trouble), that was around 1988/89, and isn’t in the data base. But I had it, and think it may have smelled similar to this.

itsallaboutthescents

To my nose, the most prominent notes are patchouli, gardenia and vetiver. I do not notice so much the peach, instead I find the gardenia exquisite, modern and not at all dull. There is nothing dull or barbie like, except from the plastickness, which I adore! To each their own, but this is a perfume for bold, dynamic women, not girly bubble gum pinky little skirt. Dynamic women who wanna have fun. Yes, it is a fun perfume, but when fun is being taken seriously. Its sillage is extraordinary, everybody can smell me, when other supposedly loud perfumes are so light to my skin. Maybe skin chemistry? I love the opening, I adore the drydown. Yes, the opening may seem a little "silly", but the drydown is serious business of seduction, uniqueness and retromodern vibe. Maybe, the lovers of so-long-old hypnotic poison would love this, because of the plasticky effect. To my nose, it has nothing to do with Eden, it has similarities with Loulou, with less floral notes. Memorable, at least!

Trishalalalala

I had difficulties liking it. It’s an okay perfume. Powdery, peachy, vetivery…opens with a very harsh chemically smell which dries down to a sweet powdery finish. Not something I would go for.

Admw

Contrary to my expectations, this smells pretty good! Playfull and sexy, but not really special enough for my taste.. If anyone has any ideas to layer this? I'd love to hear from you!

mhubbard1961

A small dose is maybe ok for the office. This one is simply different in a way hard to describe. Very modern from 1999. Not office, not romance. Something I would enjoy on the odd occasion; a full bottle would be a lifetime supply. I am glad it exists.

isthatreallynecessary

I have a bottle from about 5 years ago and don't find anything strange about it at all - no plastic, powder, or patchouli, just very sweet fruity candy. It's definitely stronger than a normal EDT but not the sillage bomb reflected in the ratings for me. Very tenacious and lasts all day.

Laynie_Scents

I get a spicy peach with a fresh effect. It is almost a little soapy. It’s not my favorite but I enjoy it.

sopelka

My third review. I am obsessed. Researched and tried vintage (by Scannon) and current (by Coty) formulas and saw a big difference in intensity and sillage. Vintage formula feels juicer and more powerful. However! The current formula lasts longer on my skin. Go figure! I am happy to own both, will likely layer.

miaomiaou

Punchy, peachy plastic for sexy cyborg women. This a dancefloor perfume if I ever smelled one. Not a ballroom, but a warehouse party with loud, experimental music. Though the perfume is vintage at this point, there's definitely something futuristic that is inherent in this perfume; it reminds me of the dance scene from Ex Machina. Performance-wise, it lasts at least 7-8 hours on me. The peach and patchouli are the most prominent notes, so you definitely have to like both to enjoy this perfume!

peachygal

The absolute best scent on a woman - any age group. This is one of the most distinct scents on the market and I could pick it from a mile away.

Performance is still remarkably good although not as good as it used to be.

To me this smells fizzy (unsure what note makes it smell fizzy), peachy and patchouli. It’s sweet but not in a gourmand way

It’s just WOW - if you love perfumes please try this one. It is so sexy.

tilapia_johnson

Posting this so people know GR is not as scary as some reviews make it out to be. The opening has an icy freshness, the peach, gardenia, and freesia all snowy white. There is definitely a synthetic aspect, like hairspray, but it is enjoyable in a nostalgic way. The base is a powdered vanilla milk and some deeper, funkier patchouli and vetiver. It's unusual even today, but it isn't as sickening as other perfumes from the same era. I also love the feel of the cassette-shaped bottle.

BillyJean

I purchased it as a blind buy for myself this Christmas. Don't ask me how it's possible, but I didn't know what it smelt like. I have amassed a large perfume collection over the years, and yet I didn't have Gucci Rush in it nor did I have any idea what to expect. Because it's from 1999 I knew I would recognize the aroma from somewhere. So I was very excited about testing it. Upon spraying it I immediately saw friendly Loretta, the receptionist at my medical centre. I suddenly actually remembered asking her one day what she was wearing. I asked her because she was sitting there all blonde and cute looking surrounded by a cloud of something sweet, but not quite edible. Something that reminded me of vitamin chew tablets from my childhood- they were made to taste appetizing, yet somehow you knew it was medication, and not lollies. I also know I have also smelt it elsewhere, but I cannot pinpoint.
I am happy to have this perfume and I will wear it. It's fun and nostalgic for sure. The bottle I have is obviously a recent batch. It smells strong and lasts a long time.
The bottle is very cute and reminds me of a cassette. I like how it simply slides out of the box.
A similar perfume in feel and structure that I already have is Chinatown by Bond no.9. They are both fruity chypre perfumes. They are absolutely not the same but I do get a similar vibe. Luca Turing describes Chinatown as " To my nose it smells like a corner of a small French grocery in summer, in the exact spot where the smell of floor wax meets that of ripe peaches." Add a generous sprinkling of icing sugar, and you have Gucci Rush.

Mahamriz

Beautiful Fragrance. Intoxicating and addictive.

cebeagnew

bought a new bottle and it's laughably weak, which really sucks because I remember this edt being so strong that I'd wake up nauseated every time I fell asleep with it still on my skin... guess those days are over now

Cxavenoir

I blind bought this hoping for something richer, darker and more complex. What I experienced was something almost alien.

For one of the first times in my fragrance journey I can immediately smell what most people are in this review section are describing. This is sweet, falsely bright and musky. Upon first spray I thought “ah this is a sweet popular party girl perfume, not for me” you know the pretty cheerleader party girl that all the boys at high school want to date and have at their parties?

But as it started drydown on my skin something in the perfume smelt off, wrong and uncomfortably artificial. All the individual parts of this perfume from the peach to the bright florals and faint patchouli seemed to be covered with a film of translucent plastic.

Today as you stand by your locker seemingly unnoticed by the swarm of the school, you feel a trickle of dread run down your spine, unnerved, you jam your hat down over your forehead and glance down the hallway. There she is. A beacon of perfect beauty and perfection, the sea of students part simultaneously as if by some unspoken spell to allow passage. Her hair normally a object of envy, today fills you with fear. Her blond, blunt cut ends, the staccato swinging of her mane in tandem with her stride reminds you of a guillotine. There is something not quite right about the way she smiles as she glides past you in the school corridor, there is no warmth or sparkle in her eyes, they are vacant. Her straight white teeth glisten menacingly and her long sharp nails look like talons gripping her school books. Later on after second period you remember something you hadn’t realised until today, she never blinked as she walked down the corridor, neither did you notice her take a breath.

Not much to say about notes here and it’s a very long review for something that left me a little unsettled but if you want to smell like ‘her’ buy this.

Who would wear this?

‘Sil’ from Species (1995)

nepria

Ohhh it smells like a techno rave! I love this!!! I've been experimenting with this perfume for a few years now. I rarely wear it because for me it requires a certain mood, a certain ambience. It's for sure a perfume to go out and attract attention! It definitely is a little bit in your-face type of scent, which leads me to the question OMG HOW IS THIS EDT??? This is Extrait d'extrait :D This is nuclear, I think they haven't reformulated this scent at all, because most of the stuff these days especially if it is edt stays for about 1h and that's it. This one... THIS IS JUST NOT WASHABLE.
My mother used to wear this perfume when it just came out, but she is an elegant lady, so I didn't have this illusion of Gucci Rush as a rave perfume, a perfume for a dancefloor or something like that. But when I bought it myself a few year ago It just straight up came out to me as this superior sexy perfume, a perfume that just goes so well with nightlife, with your fantasies, with everything that is a bit secretive but also not.
Rush is an amazing attention magnet, a very unique smell, I do get this plastic note also, but I love it! This is the note that incarnates the name of the perfume - this note gives me that rush. The rush of excitement, this buzzing feeling inside. I will not be shy and say this is just sexy sexy sexy perfume, a confidence-boosting elixir. It has something dirty in it something vulgar but in a very high-end way and I love it. I love how unapologetic this perfume is!
Please Gucci never discontinues this perfume!!! Never reformulate it! We all need this excitement in our lives! This super ecstatic sexy rush!
It definitely goes with the Gucci vibe when Tom Ford was a creative director and those sexy collections started to amaze people and those provocative ad campaigns were in Vogue magazines... That's the vibe!

villiruusut

The batch code suggests that I have a product released in 2020. As many have mentioned, the fragrance opens with a plasticky peach smell and it reminded me of Cacherel's Eden but without the smell of wet fur and rotting fruit. The plastic smell matches the cassette-like structure in which the liquid is encased. Bright, cheerful, and quite spunky, the scent is really not for the fainthearted. Dries down to a hypnotic patchouli-vetiver-vanilla scent and disappears at about the 7h mark. Perhaps because this is a later formulation, the perfume projected and lasted a lot shorter than I'd anticipated.

hotbaby1

This is the best fragrance of all time. It’s sexy, confident, strong and sweet. I do get the plastic smell, it’s intriguing, and oh every time I smell it my eyes roll! It’s orgasmic!!!

_NicoleNonya

Gucci brought this back in 2022.
I got it on the grey market.
Had that plastic note @ the beginning for the first 2 hours from 6 sprays.
I have to say, the dry down is where the magic is.
I suggest you wear this in cold weather. I live in tropical weather, can be headache inducing until the dry down.

Compositeur

@scentfrommanna: Almairac's own house is called Parle moi de Parfum.
I am old enough to have experienced original Fahrenheit. He is clearly one of the greats.

Friends used to wear this and I would describe it as Guerlain-like (patch and vanilla in the base with peach on top). For me it's perfectly unisex.

aaaris

My mom's brother gave this to her a long time ago when he still worked at Gucci. Not gonna lie, I REALLY am not a fan. It smells fine on others, but on me it's an eternal headache. I could still smell it three days later on the sleeve of my hoodie when I first tested it. Maybe I'll wear it if I ever go to a music festival or a rave, but I can't see myself doing anything else with this (other than letting it collect dust on my shelf.)

Scentfrommanna

Anyone growing up in the late 90’s/early 00’s will know this one, even if they didn’t know the name. It was quite ubiquitous at the time.

Back then, at my school and in my town it seemed to be the perfume all the cool girls wore (which I was not!). I then smelt it on an actress I idolised who I saw on the Tube once and she smelt so incredible (straightaway I was like “she’s wearing Gucci Rush, of course she is”) that I just had to have it. Probably in the hope that smelling like that would make me as cool as her. I finally bought it in duty free on the ferry to France that summer holiday with all the holiday spending money my grandparents had given me 😂. I wore it to death, hoping I had the same cool factor as the actress!

It’s fresh despite there being patchouli in it, and to me I can’t really detect the rose or peach or anything sweet about this. Its strange as well as I never like coriander as a fragrance note, it usually smells a bit grubby on me, but works perfectly in this, I’d never have known it was in there. It’s weird but if it was a colour to me it would be silver or blue. It’s a very clean, green smell for me, but so sexy, it definitely fits the Tom Ford “so sexy it is verging on orgasmic” Gucci era. Yes I think it would smell incredible on a night out but I wear it during the day and in the office and it works fine for me, I think it just makes you smell fabulous. It’s definitely a compliment getter and lasts a fair amount of time on skin or clothing even now after no doubt a fair few reformulations! Im so glad it hasn’t been discontinued like some of the other Gucci masterpieces from the 90s (*cough* Envy *cough*). I hope it is iconic enough as a fragrance to continue to be produced by them as it’s certainly unique, and like nothing else out there.

I’ve realised that I love the creations of Michel Almairac, having looked on here at the many perfumes he’s created which I have loved throughout my life. I wonder why is he not more well known like Ropion, Kurkdjian, Polge, etc? Would any fellow fragranticans be able to tell me if he has worked with niche houses or has his own label?

I find it very timeless although for me, it has a strong sense of nostalgia attached to it. I saw it was a good price and had to buy it again, just for memories sake. I think it would make a perfect summer fragrance to be honest, it’s just very fresh smelling.

EDIT - I’ve started layering this a lot with some other perfumes with similar notes and it works very well. This meshes quite well with my skin to make a great base for other scents. Would love to hear if anyone else has tried this. Works very well with Fracas.

C'mon Barbie let's go party.
I love it. I hate it. I can't stop smelling it. I can't stand smelling it.
I think I do love it, but something in it makes me extremely nauseous if I spray it on my neck or décolletage.
Wrists and behind the knees only and I'm in Rush heaven. It's so unique and beautiful. The bottle is like a 1980's cassette. Genius packaging, albeit slightly cumbersome to carry in your purse. No issues with longevity or silage. A solid buy but be careful not to overspray. You'll choke out everyone within a six-foot radius.

spiegelsaal

one of the very few y2k-era relics that i, a millennial who went through it the first time around, actually love. white flowers, peach and almond, rendered in ps2 graphics. also idk what diluted/counterfeit bottle the reviewer below who complained about this being """"NON-lasting"""" got, 'cause this is possibly the most tenacious EDT ever put into production; hell, it even lasted through a 15-min hot shower on me

ivholyneedle

hairspray sweat sex neon chrome plastic ... and on the skin it's like a delicious artificial pheromone... this is pure eurotrash to me

Your Lith

I Adore this perfume.
It's so sexy, animalic, ravishing, sophisticated and unique, you just can't help it. It's like a seductress that steals your heart mind and soul for eternal ecstasy.
My all time favourite. <3

Second review, cause I’m still intrigued by this striking fragrance.
It’s so multidimensional, slapping you in the face.
Bright, juicy, lactonic accords playing with a deep, spicy base, and hell yeah, it’s super plasticky. Unique and controversial, confusing and delicious, just how I like it.
My heart will bleed out if they ever choose to discontinue this.
Despite I was a child, and obviously haven’t touched fragrances yet, except stealing drops from Mum’s shelf, I can feel that I was born in this decade everytime I smell Rush.

Update: feels dated (I know, it’s a stupid argument), so it’s not a keeper anymore

This made me nauseous 🥴🤢

LauraVTerrazas

What in the world? 😬

Coco Nadeshiko

Probably not for everybody. But if you like it, you will be addicted.
To me, this perfume has everything.
It holds love and hate, chaos and zen.
It’s discontinued, so it was pricey, but I had to get it.
One spritz and I can go back time. A real time machine.

Photojenchick

The mix of peach, gardenia, coriander, vanilla, patchouli and vetiver merge to create an artificial earthiness, a scent for cyborgs, more human than human. And I adore it. Gucci Rush is a sensory time machine. When sprayed, I immediately return to 1999, where I’m 24, there’s no 9/11, no pandemic. Aaliyah and No Doubt are on regular rotation on the radio & Gucci Rush is the most alien, beautiful thing I’ve ever smelled. Life in ‘99 is loud, bright, and 100% captured in a neon red cassette-shaped box.

Raluko111

This is one of the most evocative 90's fragrances, along with Le feu d'Issey. Yes, the new version lacks some of the fire of the old concoction, but it's still unique and intriguing despite its sweet peachy vibes. Long live the plasticky peach!

Forevertee

This use to be my signature scent in high school back in 00'/01'. A nice warm floral that last for days on your clothes. I heard it has been reformulated since then which makes me sad.

dabatch

this unique fragrance is also a symbol. downfall of the 90's, grand finale.
yes, it's super-artificial. tacky. plasticky. too peachy, too patchouli, too loud, blah blah blah.
as a man, i love it on women. and i give it 10/10.
soundtrack: leftfield & toni halliday - original.

LanaDelSlay

A lot of people say "ew so plastic" "ew so artificial" I love this stuff. There's no other perfume like this one. Pure 90s, not only the bottle but the scent, but it doesn't have the annoying cinammon they'd put everywhere back then. You smell like a hot bitch from the 90s who has a great job, wears tall leather boots matched with her long leathed coat and her Dior bag on her way to a bar after work in the city. The patchouli, the vanilla, I don't know I'm in love with it I haven't found this scent anywhere else and probably will never. The "plastic" comment just makes me love it even more. Such a vibe

Cassandra_Lyris

I have to be honest, it bothers me greatly to read that later bottles of Rush are so weak. The original 1999 mix was an absolute BEAST perfume. Heady sweetness tempered by dare I say raunchy herbs and spices, it is absolutely intoxicating. A solid 10/10 for dates or the club. I'm so glad I've had my second bottle since 2007. Sadly, she's beginning to run out. I started looking around for a new bottle for my birthday just to find that to my horror it's been discontinued, but even worse than that absolutely throttled by its 2015 reformulation.
If you've read any of my other reviews you know how much I love Chypre fragrances. They warm up on my skin and radiate off so pleasantly. The Queen of all of my Chypre scents has been Rush for 23 years. I still remember picking up my first bottle fresh off of moving out at 17. I immediately made the mistake of spraying it directly at myself. It took several washes for the OG mixture of Rush to wash out of my clothes. Two puffs, twirled into, and I was set for any night out until 4AM.
Flash forward to now, and my Night Queen has been dethroned. Weakened and replaced with pleasant florals that are nice, though vastly over priced (yeah, I said it), I'll be left sniffing out old bottles and good dupes (seek out "GG Red Rush"). I know discussing dupes is frowned on here, but this scent is already discontinued. You're not taking sales away from Gucci, only resellers trying to price gouge. In the meantime I guess I'll look up production numbers and save up for a "real" pre 2015 vintage bottle. And that's what I would suggest anyone looking for the real Rush experience do too. 😥🥀

Goofy79

The most NON lasting edt I've ever owned🤣. This should be one of those cheap drugstore plastic copy of something else. Gucci definitely likes to make a fool out of their customers with the high priced low quality fragrances they sell 🤦🤦

Roos88dutch

Smells like the bottle .(like plastic)

abbieclark67

GUCCI RUSH smells fantastic! I can pick out the notes of peach, patchouli, coriander, and some hazy woods, but everything else is a mystery, like a fourth dimension. This is really a very evocative type of fragrance. Total fun! Longevity is 12+ hours or more. The projection and silage are amazing too. The sweetness is thin and aspartame-level fake, and it would be nearly intolerable if it weren't for a nicely balanced woodsy patchouli that grounds the entire perfume. Highly recommended Masterpiece!

Julina

It smells to me like if someone had gathered ripe sweet strawberries and ground them with szechuan peppercorns so its ok, its very recognizable for sure. Not suit my personality though, i would enjoy it on someone else.

Ambrocia scents

This was an absolute love at first sniff I tell you. It smells like the sweetest green grass to me lol. Not damp not dry either. Sweet. It smells like you're going out during the day and you're intentional, yet not trying to hard idk JUST TRY IT. Smells so good I can't forget it. Signature scent worthy.

PerfumeEmpress

Has this been reformylated, does anybody know/ Because the list of notes used to be a good deal more complex than the one listed above.

rubybelle

This is perhaps one of the first perfumes I smelled that I had a serious emotional reaction to. When I was about 9 or 10 years old I would smell this every time my older sister was getting ready to go out to clubs and raves with her fake ID. It represented to me an idea of freedom and adulthood that was all but an elusive concept to me at that age. It smelled like sex, drugs and debauchery, it smelled like walking home at 6am after dancing all night.

Today it smells just the same to me, it is one of the few perfumes I will spray just to get a hit of, it is honestly like a drug. Even the mere thought of this makes me crave it like an addict. The peach is truly the star, it is syrupy and cloying in the best possible way. It has garnered compliments from both men and women on the rare occasions I have actually worn it out. I imagine it is the scent an ex lover would sniff on a dress while writhing in a mad erotic misery. It is the smell of pure craving and It has never failed to make me feel desirable.

This strikes me as very much a going out/clubbing fragrance, I cannot imagine wearing this to the office or during the day, the projection and sillage are phenomenal and I imagine it would be far too overpowering for everyday use. I will continue to stockpile this red plastic rectangle (which after some contemplation is what I think made it so popular with the 90s ravers in the first place as it is one of the few bottles that can survive a night of ecstasy fuelled dancing) purely for the way that my brain lights up with fireworks every time I catch a trace of it.

juljan

a gift from a friend whose husband did not like it.
ok, i would not have thought of this as something i would find charming. but i do.
charming indeed!
totally "fem" but i don't discriminate.
nose tickling sweetness without being overly sugary or cloying. fresh, something to wear on a spring or summer morning.
it does not wander too far and remains pleasant...simply.
while it may have been fashion forward back in the day, it is the smell of nostalgia for the 90's.

AutumnJewel

Note For Myself: Fresh and fruity floral. Peach heavy and floral with some wood notes. Not long lasting but it is a pretty scent… my moms fav.

MagdalenaM07

I really reallyyyyy disliked it at first sniff and almost put it up for sale immediately. I'm so happy I decided to play with it a bit, because now I legit can't get enough! GORGEOUS!!!

heavenlycreature

Finally tried this after hearing so many people claim it was THE rave scent of the 90s. I wasn't expecting it to be so sweet. It's plastic peaches and patchouli on a milk-drenched slice of vanilla cake- but like a vanilla sheet cake that you buy from Walmart in those plastic containers with the black bottoms. Has a similar artificial sweet fruity floral vibe to Cacharel Eden in my opinion. Honestly, when I smell this on me, the words that come to mind are "slutty bathroom air freshener", which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm confused as to why 90s ravers adore this so much. I can't imagine that this fragrance mixes well when combined with a room full of sweaty bodies. Wish I liked it but unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.

Also- it does not smell like poppers! If you want a perfume that smells closer to poppers try Anal by UFO Parfums.

Sanrio

I finally decided to sample this after hearing so many wildly different opinions about it. (trashy, psychotic, hairspray, plastic, smells like a rave, smells like a dominatrix, stinky mold patchouli, armpit)

Maybe it's because I got a reformulation but..

I laughed when I smelled this. It's adorable. Peach rings and Teen Spirit (the deodorant,) with a little bit of patchouli-mossy edge in the dry down. It smells like an emo kid trying to be badass. I love it. 10/10, thanks for the memories (or should I say Thnks Fr Th Mmrs?)

Mariamaija Amélie

Gucci Rush is exactly as unique as I remember it to be all those years ago when I purchased it, and ended up giving it away to a friend because I didn't appreciate its uniqueness back then. But I do now.
What a strange perfume Gucci Rush is, though, and so memorable. Sour and sweet at the same time, loads of flowers, and the coriander and the patchouli are definately the stars in this one. It is ultra feminine, I think, and rather sexy smelling.

In one word: Intriguing

Gi5elle.C

This was my 90s clubbing fragrance and one of my husband’s favorite perfumes on me. I haven’t worn it in forever, but one sniff and I’m back at 1235 dancing until 5 am!

Panny84

I've heard a lot of good things about this perfume and that it was ubiquitous around the millennium, but despite being a teen and getting into perfumes at that time, I don't remember it or anyone that had it. I bought a sample thinking it would remind me of my youth as someone around me must have been wearing it and also because it seems to get such great reviews. I am wondering if my sample has not been kept well as it is not what I expected at all and the longevity and sillage are very poor. There was no instant triggering of memories except that it immediately reminded me of Nina Ricci Deci Dela. I tried them side by side and they are very similar, only the Gucci Rush is much sweeter, softer and weaker. Perhaps it is the peach and freesia. Not getting the sexiness, seductiveness or the patchouli that everyone is mentioning. It is a very tame, light, daytime scent. I will have to get another sample to be sure I am smelling the real thing or that it hasn't gone bad.

MigenaG

This perfume is made to be worn at clubs and bars! So seductive and unique!

Garofita4

I like this perfume a lot I finished 2 bottles so far and I am on the 3rd one. I love perfumes. This is on my top 10 favorites.

sanrio81

I simply love Rush. I first bought it in 2001 as a 20 years old queen of life. It reminds me of all those crazy, stimulated by MDMA ;) nights spent in the clubs, beaches, house parties and concerts. Now I've been a mum of 3 lol, no MDMA for ages, no clubs, beaches sometimes but not amusing BUT I have my Rush and I think it hasn't aged at all. It has all I love in perfumes: patchouli, gardenia and vanilla & as one of few I cannot tell the notes seperately. Its a perfect blend & fits to me ultimately.

mothtoaflame___

I point out that this is probably the most hedonistic fragrance I own, and yep it’s indeed about vibrant nightlife, untamed passion and urban adventure.
Maybe it’s the packaging, what gives off this urban feel.
The spicy accord on a lactonic base makes it so incredibly edgy and interesting, it is weird, tasteful artwork that deserves a good load of respect.

Update: feels dated (I know, it’s a stupid argument), so it’s not a keeper

Lalunalynn

I owned and drained a "bottle" of Gucci Rush back when it came out. Loved it. Tried it today and am pleasantly surprised that it hasnt deviated far from the original, though I will say, I don't remember it being such a patchouli bomb, I don't know, maybe my nose wasn't as tuned in to notes back then as it is now, but it does seem very patch heavy these days. Saying that, I am sat here now an hour after application and the smell trailing around me is absolutely divine. The patchouli has settled down and its oh so creamy. Well done Gucci for not reformulating this into a shadow of its former sell. Tho not exactly the same, its still the beautiful, unique scent it always was. Absolutely stunning ❤️

courtny78

When I think of Gucci Rush since it came out in 1999 the things that come to mind is techno music pumping through speakers and people are on ecstasy trips. I will be using this as a deodorant.

ash.nguyen6

Same with all other strong patchouli fragrances, this makes me feel nauseated! I tried so hard to love it because it’s a popular fragrance loved by many people so I blind bought it but I had to scrub it off every time! It’s super strong and long-lasting for sure! Just not for people who dislike patchouli, like me :(

TheFancyNancy

Love love love!!! I recently found two bottles of this after searching for it for ages. I used to wear this in high school 10 years ago and I'm so happy to have it back in my collection.

Reminds me of a time when designer houses tried to be different and innovative with their scents instead of following a safe formula.

Attention grabbing, sultry and unnapolagetically unique.

meetee

It used to be my signature scent once, back in the middle '00s and my late teens. I remember that it was strong and sexy and very appealing to boys. Also the design of the bottle is unique in its simplicity and gives a '90s pop vibe.

Ash212

My first ever designer perfume! I bought this when I was 16 - which the shop assistant couldn't t believe. She asked me if I had tried this before and I said "yes". In fact, it was a blind buy but something about the reviews made me feel like I had to try it. I put it on my wrist at the bus stop to go home a few meters from the store and HATED IT. it was so strong, I actually got on the wrong bus! But overtime it grew on me and I don't think many people understood the scent or quality of this perfume around me but I loved it. Always has a great place in my mind and I can't wait to get another one! It is powdery and sweet and a bit milky but so interesting. I don't think its that mature and can be worn by even teenagers!

amandavolpe

Unfortunately it smells like the Rexona teen line that was released in the mid-2000s which I used to douse my armpits with to fight adolescent BO.

This scent in its current incarnation smells and looks so much cheaper than it costs. I presume the original must have been much superior. The pyramid is original, and the idea of a fun, synthetic smelling, fruity chypre is charming and inventive, as usually chypres are perceived as classic, elegant or even stuffy. This must have been such an exciting fragrance when it came out!

For a synthetic peach and gardenia fragrance I prefer the current formulations of Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia and Paris Hilton Dust Fairy, although in terms of the pyramid both fragrances are not as daring. As for the combination of coriander, rose and vetiver Jean Couturier Coriandre and Agent Provocateur are still unbeatable. All fragrances mentioned are cheaper than Gucci Rush.

kristynabelscakova

I am very sensitive to patchouli, if it's prominent in a perfume, it makes me nauseous to the point I actually feel sick. I still wanted to try this famous perfume and yes, It's a big no for me. All I can smell is peach, coriander and patchouli, which smells like dirt and sweat on me. I would never say about any perfume that it's disgusting, because everyone has own taste but if you don't like patchouli, don't bother buying this. I have little left in my 2ml sample so I might try it now in winter/early spring when it's still cold outside, because cold weather tones down patchouli on me. When I smell this, I picture rave party, backstage, everyone sweaty, drugs everywhere, smudged makeup and girls half passed out on the ground 😀

BethyBee

There's a note in here that makes my nose automatically wrinkle up with dislike. I think it's the coriander. I wanted to like it; I really don't. Hard pass for me.

Mc1995

Not sure if the bottle I got is just a poor reformulation or what, to me this is that weird plasticky floral fruity vibe like in Chacharel Eden except that one is stronger as an EDP, this an EDT and turns a skin scent. The notes look better than it smells. Don't get me wrong, it’s nice, maybe it’ll have to grow on my nose. I do start to detect the vanilla when it dries down. And a bit spicy from the coriander. Cacharel Eden is that plasticky synthetic melon and white florals/patchouli. This is plasticky synthetic peach and patchouli. Have to appreciate them for what they are. Purposely strange. Love the work of Michel Almairac though.

Jacquis

I've heard that Gucci rush was a popular perfume about 20 years ago. I was in my prime then but somehow we were like 2 ships passing in the night. I recently acquired a bottle of Gucci Rush and I have never smelled this before. It is gorgeous, bright and fruity. So uplifting and prominent. It stays on my clothing for hours. Very versatile. I was bracing for the patchouli that I read about but, it is not prominent in this weather (60F, sunny, low humidity). It is currently a bright beautiful peach which could be released this spring 2022 and I'd believe it. Timeless.

Dottie's Hoomum

In 1999, I was at my brother’s house in Glasgow, when I found a tester strip from a magazine. It was Gucci Rush, and in spite of having been a perfume obsessive since I was ten, my mind was BLOWN. It was like some kind of drug. I was in my heyday of nights out, recently graduated from university and living a mildly hedonistic life. Gucci Rush was, I thought, made especially for ME. I sniffed my tester strip wrist all the way home on the train from Glasgow to Preston, and I bought Rush the next morning. Since then, I have never been without it. I adore its tacky plastic cassette tape style box. I love that it smells like lipstick and rum and Coke and patchouli. NOTHING smells like Gucci Rush. It is a classic, totally unique, and it doesn’t pull its punches. Wear it and relive your cool.

sopelka

My last review below stated that I loved Rush on others but could not wear it since the patchouli was too overwhelming. That was based on my memories from the early 2000s when I owned my first bottle. I decided to try it again a couple of moths ago, and, perhaps, due to reformulation, I am a happy wearer of Rush now! It could be that my nose has “matured” over the last 20 years, but I find the modern version of Rush absolutely stunning and addictive.

Ljoye

I remember having a library of fashion magazines back in the 90's through early 2000. I adored the fragrance strips. Gucci Rush came in a Vogue issue one day. I peeled back the strip and held it up to my nose. I understood why they named it "Rush." I had never been exposed to anything like it. I was about 29 years old. I had only been intimate one time. This made me feel provocative and bold...this lightening bolt came down and brought sexy back.
I rubbed the strip on my wrists so much, the paper finally tore apart. So I went and bought it. It is love and lust all at once. There is no innocent vibes at all, to me. Very sensual. Patchouli is usually a hit or miss with most people, but here, it is a beauty. I love the brightness of the peach in the opening. Sharp, but still slightly sweet.
Celebrated for all these years, it reminds me of the vibrancy of sexuality and magnetism. I get the "club" scent reference, and the sweet alcoholic beverage association. Jello shots, bold, gold jewelry...warm, glistening skin...sexual liaisons. An aphrodisiac-like sensory experience.
Gucci at it's finest.

Italo Paz

Rush is one of the most interesting creations that I've ever smelled. It's so ahead of its time, aged so well, it's unique (even though people compare it to Eden) and still, Rush is underappreciated and underrated, it doesn't get the praise it deserves. After Rush, some niche houses released some perfumes inspired by Rush and guess what? These fragrances that are similar and came after Rush are praised and get more love and appreciation.

This fragrance reminds me of how designer fragrances were (and can/coud be) really interesting, artistic, bold, fearless, timeless and creative.

I bet if this gem was discontinued a long time ago, it would be so much more loved, praised and desired, Gucci Rush has some imitations, and I was shocked when I saw someone saying that this amazing creation that comes in a red box was a copy of perfumes from some niche houses, when Rush came before. Good stuff don't come only from niche houses and expensive fragrances, guys, don't be like that, if you get into perfume history (and smell what came before), you'll realize that some niche houses try and want to emulate hidden and discontinued gems that were sold for the masses.

At least I'm one of those who are not afraid of wearing Rush and I love it since my first bottle (a gift from a cousin back in 2013, I suppose, she asked me which perfume I wanted and even tho I didn't have no clue about how it smelled like, I said: GUCCI RUSH!). It's so creamy, atmospheric, sexy, fun, even futuristic.

It's a 10/10.

MabelSyrup

Experiencing this and Hypnotic Poison again has made me realize my tastes may be expanding, but my old favorites still hold up. When I first wore this in the early 2000s, my nose interpreted it (despite the glossy red bottle) as a white veil of powder and musk and vanilla. How strange then to smell it now and be struck by a flood of sense memories, while simultaneously perceiving it from a completely different angle. Today that first whiff is dominated by 3 Ps: patchouli, plastic, and peach. And I freaking LOVE it. When I first wore it my best friend and I both rotated Rush and HP, with this leaning a bit more toward being her signature (and HP mine) so I backed off wearing "her" scent after a while. But now that we--and our perfume collections--have grown, I'm ready to embrace this lactonic vinyl masterpiece again on my own terms. P.S. I loved Nina Ricci's Deci Dela in high school and am picking up a similar vibe from Rush on the drydown. I guess I'm a fan of fruity chypres. Who knew?

thewhitecat

It's a plain powdery vanilla on me. Vanilla sugar to be exact. It disappears really quickly, however I'm looking into purchasing a bottle to spray when it's winter outside and you're staying home with Netflix and tea. Sweet, plain and hugs you.

MurmurM

You love it or hate it.
I love it and I feel powerful wearing it.
When I heard that one of my friends girlfriend wears it I knew that i found my best friend.:D
This lasts for years and you only need 1-2 sprays. Some people might say that this is for older generation but for me it's for women who isn't afraid to stand out from the crowd.

Faellen

Fuzzy peach, but quite tart instead of sweet, like peach mixed into a cocktail. The patchouli is not overwhelming, it's just enough to compliment the peach. Not cloying or headache inducing at all to me. I really love it.
(I'm reviewing the reformulation, my batch is from 2021)

djouri

power is the name i give to this beauty… when i see this perfume i'am so nostalgic, it's one of my favorits i love how it can be attractive, powerfull and unique
for me it's the best gucci gragrance so thank you michel almairac you did an exellent job

Eva Wu

If Harley Quinn were a perfume, this would be it.

Loud, brash, slightly psychotic, and basically just a great time.

A hugely synthetic peachy patchouli affair roughly the size of a house, reminiscent of raves, neon colours, and hangovers.

If you have a propensity for pigtails, clowns and baseball bats, this one's for you, girl.

Now go out there and destroy a man's life (or his bank account, whatever comes first)

petrawebb

The first perfume I remember being completely intoxicated by when I was twelve or thirteen and smelled it on an older girl I idolized; the kind of older girl I wanted to be.

Twenty years later and this is still my favorite perfume, ever, and I am the kind of woman I wanted to be.

Gucci Rush is not for the faint of heart — it is arresting, lush, and almost heavy — it smells like sex, the kind that you have for hours when you have real real chemistry with someone and everything seems bathed in red light. My sister thinks it smells like cocaine.

The name is fitting: reminiscent of lust or a fantastic sweaty club or a drug running through a vein and taking over. It was released in 1999, right before the millennium hit, and to me it feels like a leap into the future and also the end of an era that pulsed with techno, freedom, and a surge of women’s individuality in the face of an unknown future. It still holds this power and this resonance.

That might sound dramatic, but this perfume is polarizing because you either get it or you don’t. For those who get it, is is simply a RUSH.

The bottle is chic, inventive, and subversive, just like the perfume itself. 1000/10.

Szafirowy czar

It's not my favourite fragrance and I wouldn't buy myself a bottle, however for sure it is memorable. Today I wore it (had a sample) and this perfume brought me nice memories, I am sure I smelled this fragrance somewhere already when I was a little girl, however I can't link it to any particular event or person. It truly seems familiar and cosy, maybe even a tad nostalgic

Tt777

I finally ordered this after seeing so many you tubers talk about it and I love it. It is truly unique. It doesn’t re,ind me of anything I’ve owned or tested. This is a statement making…loud, fun and flirty. It’s tough to describe but I agree it smells like a night club. Like the hottest club in town and everyone looks fabulous and drinking vodka Red Bull’s or vodka cranberries, and pineapple ( def not whisky lol ) I smell a very tart vibrant peach and if yiu told me there was pineapple and cranberry I’d believe you.. I’m a bartender and this is like a cocktail that a female wants who doesn’t know what to order and doesn’t like the taste of alcohol lol. The fact that the fruit is synthetic doesn’t bother me one bit nor does the patchouli which I barely smell and do not care for all the very well loved fruitchulis on the market This is vibrant and dressed up in the sexiest, boldest outfit you have when your going out with your tribe of best. friends. Your hair, nails and makeup are done and you are confident and not shy about getting attention. Bc this is so unique I think I will always have it in my collection.

Exciting, sexy, energizing, head turner, uplifting, wohoo WHAT is THAT?!, different, special scent and one of my all time favorites.
Used two bottles 2007-2009 and then parked it on the "it was great, but now it's time for something else" avenue.
First sniffed it on one of my colleagues and HAD to try it on my skin, was so lucky at it worked with my chemistry.
Would be interesting to try it again and see if it still has the same effect on me.

This used to be my "party all night" scent. I adore the synthetic and fuzzy note of peach. Together with notes of damask rose and patchouli. It is strong, confident and dominating. I dislike the smell of cigarettes (alot of my friends are smokers) but when I am wearing Gucci Rush I don't mind it. It is one of few scents I know of that actually seem to work well in a atmosphere that is filled with smoke from cigarettes. Hence I feel it's an amazing night club scent.
If the occasion is "so tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999" then I defintely recommend Gucci Rush.

Kizzyb93

Okay I could go on about this perfume forever but I won’t all I’m gonna say is it gives me the vibes of a carnival or a fair ..I don’t know why it just does
I know this is an old scent but I do actually like it it’s original and it’s weird

NikiNoir

I'm pretty sure that the person who made this perfume has synesthesia. Immediately when I smelled it it popped in my head: "This is how red smells like.".I got this perfume as a gift and when I first tried it out it was kind of weird, something that I never smelled before. But I fell in love with it after few times wearing it and now I cherish it and am saving it for when I feel really good. It reminds me of a sunny happy day,it's flirty and seductive. And yeah,if the color red had a smell, this would be it. It's 2000s pop culture in a bottle (with a hint of 80s).

Enchanted77

It’s ok. Fruity with peach being the dominating scent. Nothing exciting. Mine also leaks when I spray….I’ll definitely use it until it’s gone, but I won’t repurchase. Maybe I would’ve liked it better in the 90’s🤷🏽♀️

THIS IS A DATE NIGHT FRAGRANCE THAT I BLIND BOUGHT IT BEACAUSE OF YOUTUBER
I was lucky to find an old batch of 1999 it smells unique and sexy, very synthetic in a way that i like it.
On my skin when it dries it developes into powdery.
NOT A SAFE BLIND BUY.

Amnaa

A similar fragrance to Ever Bloom Ginza Flower by Shiseido, it's just very soft. I can smell some vinyl.

Danadoo

I just got this for my birthday after becoming obsessed with a sample of it. Back in the early 2000s I worked at a nightclub and all the ladies must have been wearing this because it takes me way back to those wild and crazy times! The perfume itself is strange but in a good way. I've got over 200 perfumes in my collection and this is 100% unique, I don't own anything that even vaguely reminds me of this. I totally get the weird plastic note and it kind of reminds me of the strawberry shortcake dolls from the 80s. I'm glad I didn't wear this back in the day because now it is something new for me to fall in love with!

Dragonweengs

My mom has this and I’ve sprayed throughout the year. I get more peach in warmer months and a makeup powdery-ness in the winter. I could still smell it after a shower. I found it cloying in summer. I didn’t find the patchouli to be too strong on my skin and it is a fun fragrance. I’ve seen this bottle at Marshals/TJ Max & Ross stores. It’s a unique young smell IMO.

miss_aly

Does anyone know where to buy this with the older formulation? I don't know if I trust all ebay sellers' "claims" that it's the original. There also seems to be knock offs floating around...

MaxieF

OMG STORY TIME. I bought Rush on fragrancex...and it smelled really off..nothing like the original I've owned many times ( including reformulation) So I youtube searched how to tell between fake or real gucci rush..and I'm watching the video and the guy turns over his fake one and it has the exact same batch code as mine. In what world are the odds of that happening???? Everything he pointed out about the fake bottle was the same too.

So FRIENDS. Fragrancex sold me a stinky fake that smelled like pee (the human kind), rubbing alcohol and the ghost of Rush. AND I tested it on my hand 🤮 I've purchased from them a few times and never had this issue but I'll probably never buy from them again. Batch code 7129.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper in a bottle. That’s what it is.

Epic peach bomb with patchouli and white flowers. Surprisingly, rush is super delicious, almost edible. I remember eating peach jam from some sort of plastic container when I was a child - that’s the memory I got with a first sniff. Yep, a bit weird.

Can a perfume smell like fun? Because this one does. I agree with previous comments that Rush is a whole mood, not just a perfume. Like I cannot imagine wearing it to office, for example. And that says the person who sprays Shalimar or Alien to work :)

It is loud, but I wish Rush was even louder. Here the golden rule ‘Less is better’ couldn’t be applied!

Not a safe blind buy if you don’t have a trained nose.

MeekMills

Sooooo okay I just bought this about 2 weeks ago. Upon first spray I got the peach and patchouli. It was quite loud and out there the dry down is very pretty on my skin the gardenia, vanilla and freesia comes through. The only thing I hate about this fragrance is the fact that the lasting power is horrible. It’s like you spray it enjoy it for 30 minutes then the fun is over!

sopelka

I miss Gucci Rush even though I couldn’t wear it when I had it, because of patchouli, probably, on me it was overwhelming. There are not many fragrances that are so unique, recognizable, and ageless. I recently came across it again, and the sniff triggered all sorts of memories and a huge appreciation for this masterpiece. If you can wear Rush, consider yourself lucky. I love it on others and wish I could pull it off.

Jessbrooke2

Hm. The hyped up reviews for this fragrance on the internet really perplexed me. The opening is extremely plasticky and funky, smells like rancid perfume. After developing on skin, the plastic calms down and you get more of the patchouli, coriander, spices, possibly some fruit? I don’t get the fruit at all. I don’t know what this perfume smells like and why people love it so much. After an hour of wearing it my mom said I smelt musky and my sister said I smelt soapy. Must be the coriander and patchouli. I’ll see if I get compliments outside the house but I’m definitely scratching my head over this one. I’m trying to like it so bad because I LOVE nostalgic/chypre scents.

Fouquet5%

Peachy, powdery, milky mess on me. I do not get any spice or plastic. Great longevity, though.....

Pure late 90's, early 00's nostalgia with the kitschy 'bottle' to match. - Gucci Ruch is just such an epic, delicious scent !!!
It's so barbie doll-girly, yet sensual and womanly at the same time.
I don't even think it's possible to be in a bad mood when wearing this - it's too uplifting and has too much lust for life.
Gucci Rush is not just a scent - it's a mood. It's a mode. It's a way of going about in the world.
Some days I just wake up and know: Today is gonna be a "Gucci Rush-day"; wearing that scent is almost like wearing heart shaped sunglasses that filter out the mundane everyday chores and stressed out people all around you - you are in your own little bubble, and I love it.!
It's like allowing yourself to enjoy feeling alive, despite all the reasons we have for weltschmerz and depression.
Gucci Rush is a big red neon-lit: 'Yes to Life despite everything' - an unfiltered, unapologetic joie de vivre!

I urge anyone who hasn't tried this to buy it, and all the fans of this fragrance to indulge in it !
(As I write this I am already ordering an extra stock-up of this gorgeous fragrance). :D

Rush opens with a strong slightly synthetic peach, reminiscent of the one used in Mitsouko. About 20 minutes after the first spritz, the peach starts subsiding to the spices, rose and jasmine that had been waiting below the surface.

In the first 2 hours, the coriander fully blooms. After that, the rose-jasmin combo takes over riding on the back of some earthy notes (vetiver?). While it has toned down compared to the initial stage, the peach is still there, holding all the different notes together.

From that point on which everything has come together, Rush is getting linear. I could not smell any of the gardenia or freesia altogether. Also, I could not pinpoint any vanilla. What I got, however, was that iconic blend of peach, flowers, spice and earth that everybody has smelt before.

While Rush starts off pretty loudly, from hour 5 onwards it loses most of its impact and quickly becomes a skin scent. Around 7 hours after the first spritz, it is all gone.

Rush is a sensual, but to me it embodies more of a young woman's sensuality; exploring, somewhat make-shift, hasty. A bit of depth: yes. But nothing too serious. Compared with Rush 2, Rush 1 objectively is the more iconic fragrance, although I like Rush 2 better.

Rush was clearly created for a female target-group up to their early 30s. While I agree with that age group, I find it to be perfectly suitable to be worn by men as well - actually, it might even read more sensual and bold on a man than on a woman.

That all being said, Rush is a fine, interesting fragrance that I hope will be staying around for some more time. Although personally I missed the promised plastic-notes and therefore will not get a bottle, I would recommend this one as an uncomplicated, sensual perfume for every other date.

TL;DR: teenage make-shift sensuality, synthetic but nostalgic.

Stark95

It's a perfume that has never aged, still such a head Turner and when you smell it you know exactly what the person is wearing. Really lovely scent.

samantham-123

I was born in 1990 so tbh I wasn't exactly old enough to be hitting clubs and partying in '99 lol.
However, I do distinctly remember lots about the early to mid 00s that I now dearly miss. This makes me think of high school house parties with old school dance music, smoking cigarettes and drinking vodka cruisers, pigtails buns, slip dresses and chunky wedge heels. It literally smells of the era I wish so much to go back to and gives me mega nostalgia.
As soon as I smelled it I knew I'd smelled it years ago without realising it and was thrown into a total timewarp of my teen years.
The weird synthetic plastic peach opening reminded me of flicking through new fashion magazines reading about runway models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell attending exclusive supermodel parties. Then it becomes rose, coriander and still with that persistent Barbie doll head peach; I'm in high school on a hot summer day using one of those bright neon coloured apple computers and someone sitting next to me has covered stale cigarette smoke with cheap impulse body spray.
Finally at the dry down several hours after application, the patchoulli hits hard with a little vanilla, woodiness and the tireless peach; I'm sitting outside with my highschool boyfriend, cuddling and inhaling his lynx body spray and chewing juicy fruit gum.

This is not, by the way, a negative review. I actually quite like it. Aside from my trip down memory lane, it's extremely long lasting and not something you just smell everywhere because its quite unique. Maybe that's just because its 2021 and everything that gets released nowadays smells the same. I'm not sure I'll invest in a full bottle though, I bought a 5ml decant and with its impressive longevity i can see it lasting a while. I don't find it as bombastic and room filling as previous reveiws would suggest but I'd does project well and lasts forever.

Yummy🤩 I love Gucci Rush♥️
It is one of the few fragrances that I have re-purchased. Usually there is another fragrance that intrigues me and so I fondly keep a now empty bottle whilst I move on. I cannot do so with Rush. There’s just not anything out there quite like it and so I keep coming back to it.
I cannot wear gourmands as they become sickly scrubbers on my skin, I’m not a huge fan of fruity fragrances either; or too prevalent vanilla. So why I keep coming back to Gucci Rush is due to that it is greater than the sum of its parts, an alchemy if you wish✨

Loving Awareness

Inspires barbieworld fantasy and all that which fuels that level of excitement

Jinxcat87

This is such a fun a flirty fragrance. To me it smells like punchy peach and plastic. I love to wear this scent in the summer when I'm all dolled up and showing some skin. It's perfect when I want to feel sexy and like a Barbie doll. It's like the icing on a perfect party or date night outfit.

SmellsLikeMoneyWellSpent

My early 20s in a bottle (or rather in a box). This is a genius scent and i will never be able to judge it objectively:)

Skinterpreter

Very nice, almost daring and loud scent... perfect fragrance for summer and hot summer nights. On my skin it's peach with some spice - of course, there is also this floral element of the fragrance that one can smell in the background, but overall it's mostly peach and spice. Very juicy and highly recommended if you like sweet, fruity scents that have certain "charisma". Only I wish I could get this plastic-like note everyone else seems to smell with this. :)

kinpatsu

I LOVE the packaging of this so much, and wish the perfume worked with my skin! On me it smells like spicy peach vinyl in the worst way. The projection and longevity was insane. I could not get it off me. Very unique smelling! Stella Pop has a similar plastic/vinyl smell but they both take completely different directions - this one spicy and sexy, and Pop sweet and girly.

RushLover

My all time favorite signature scent. Smells like the plastic they used to make strawberry shortcake dolls out of and I LOVE IT ❤️ Super well blended, very versatile and a huge compliment getter! Lasts forever too

amycline

Super weird perspective here, but I think this perfume is evocative of a new apple laptop or phone when you take the final plastic barrier off. There's a strange, plasticky, but slightly sweet fruit spice musk smell that I personally find addicting. I wore Gucci Rush in my early 20's, long before those tech products were available, and I had stopped wearing it by the time they were. I couldn't understand why I found the new laptop / phone scent so alluring until I got back into my old fragrances and rediscovered this gem.

Hd_Diana

This is so good! I love the plastic smell, it’s edgy, cool, contemporary, it goes hand in hand with today’s fashion trend. This is a one of a kind scent indeed!

Seeing MyAlabasterJar's post I've been inspired to reach for my Rush this morning. Mine is an original batch (circa 1999) 75ml flacon of which I was given two. I guess that I've about 20ml remaining, so I use mine very sparingly these days in the hope I can enjoy it for a few years yet.

A 'big' dry peach-skin gardenia opening. A hint of jasmine and a fraction more freesia: neither offering much expression until well into the drydown. Despite the vanilla and sweet florals, the bitter coriander combines with a 'dry rose' and 'rooty' vetiver for an almost dusty piquancy.

No denying it, Rush broke new ground at launch, and defined a moment-in-time for me. A classy choice for day and evening wear, and for any and all occasions. Belongs to an era when Gucci really shone. Bellissimo! 🇮🇹

MyAlabasterJar

I love this scent from a pure nostalgia perspective, I’m reminded of getting ready with my girls circa early 2000s for a big night of underage parties! Ha. I bought recently from The Warehouse in NZ for $89. In the opening I get massive doses of warm heady gardenia followed by peppery notes of coriander. It’s a dry powdery floral from here and this stage lasts for hours on me ending with a faint spicy vanilla. Massive longevity for an edt. A sultry heavy floral for night time wear in my opinion. Don’t go too light (2sprays) it may be heavy to start but when you smell rush it’s better to envelope you as opposed to a faint hint of an aroma. 7/10 for me would probably not repurchase just because there are other scents I would now go for for the same effect and vibe - like Givenchys L’indint.

StinkyTinky

The first night I received this I was THRILLED it was so circa 1990’s-2000’s and totally worked with my chemistry. Peach, freesia, plastic cream! Love! So I sprayed and I sprayed, and I sprayed. And then sprayed a few more times. The husband loved it, i loved it! I felt like a cheerleader again! and then I really felt like a cheerleader again- throwing up in the toilet because I over did it. This has never happened to me. I’m still pissed at Gucci. And this was 4 years ago.
For the rest of my life the color red will make me gag.
As will natural light beer...

2whit2quit

I just bought a full bottle of this on gucci.com for my upcoming birthday. I wore Rush in high school and am excited to experience it all over again. I see in some comments that it's since been reformulated and isn't quite the same. Fingers crossed that it gives me the same feels it used to.

5.3.21 UPDATE: I received my bottle in the mail on Saturday and have been wearing it all weekend. It smells as amazing as I remember, although the sillage and longevity are not as powerful as they used to be. Overspray to make it stay!

perfumesniffer

Absolute trashy garbage -- SWEET, vinyl-milky fruits over some earthy synthetic base. I LOVED this in the early 00's. My memories are of being young, wasted, partying, promiscuous and watching Sex and the City.

Rush has been reformulated and it is no longer the hot garbage she used to be. That crazy-brilliant-awful scent is forever in my memories now.

(in case it's not obvious, this is a positive review, I loved Rush).

Maschka

This perfume is so nostalgic for me! :) Literally smells like the packaging would suggest - something from the 90's, like a music tape or video tape kinda. I'm surprised that most rate this as a winter/fall fragrance, because to me this has always been perfect for late spring/early summer! I like to wear it at daytime with light blue hight waited jeans, a croped white t-shirt, sneakers and a pair of 90's sunnies ;) Also wear it for summer night outs, since it's quite sexy in my opinion.

Andre4242

A beautiful blend of milky peaches, creamy gardenia, and a lovely earthy/spicy base of patchouli and coriander. This one really creeps up all throughout the day. Very zesty and addictive. The plastic/vinyl element in this really draws me in and so does the play doh vibe I get from the vanilla in the drydown. Projection is moderate but lasts days on clothing! Ive noticed that I become anosmic to Rush very easily. It’s a signature for me and I can go days on end wearing it and start feeling like it’s no longer noticeable and reapply like crazy but it’s definitely still there lol. I’ve read of reformulations on here but I have a bottle from 1999 and one from 2019 and honestly they are very similar. The main difference I detect is that my older bottle takes a while to fully develop and has a slightly deeper base whereas my newer bottles are strong from the get go there’s also a bit more vanilla in the newer ones but honestly I wouldn’t say this is a fragrance that’s been ruined by reform. If you’re interested in Rush try and get whichever “version” you can get your hands on and give it a go! ;)

SophieVictoria93

Bought this as a blind buy as although I am not usually into fruity scents, the reviews and scent profile sounded so unusual and different from what was already in my collection, AND it was on special offer.

Wow, what an original perfume. I am surprised that I love this as much as I do, however I find it addictive nonetheless. It is plastic peach with a strong vinyl note, which may not sound appealing however it is that plastic note that makes me want to keep sniffing it! This perfume makes me think of 90's nightclubs; drag queens misting themselves off post-performance with cheap fruity body spray whilst wearing thigh high PVC boots.

For an EDT the lasting power of this perfume is incredible, and even out-performs some of the more expensive perfumes in my collection. Sure its not sophisticated and expensive smelling, however who wants to smell sophisticated and expensive all the time? That would be so boring!

I have also gone from hating to loving the packaging. Not only is the plastic container excellent for travelling or slipping into your handbag, but it is completely unpretentious - what you see is what you get with this perfume. Absolutely divine, I love it.

majka345

Yes ,this is something special ,I like it :)
