Mémoire d’une Odeur by Gucci is a fragrance for women and men. Mémoire d’une Odeur was launched in 2019. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas. Top notes are Chamomile and Bitter Almond; middle notes are Musk, Indian Jasmine and Jasmine; base notes are Sandalwood, Cedar and Vanilla.

“Everything comes from my obsession with scents: my memory is primarily olfactive so, for me, my sense of smell is my memory. I thought that, deep down, perfume is that thing that even with your eyes closed, brings you to a precise moment in space and time. When we began to work on Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur, I tried to imagine the recollection of a scent that couldn’t easily be identified; a hybrid scent that resembles memory as much as possible,” Alessandro Michele.

Scent is in our subconscious, attached to fragments of moments lived, coloring them with emotions of all-consuming joy, of intense love, or overwhelming sadness. A scent can gift a moment again, so an experience from the past can be relived in the now.

For a new Gucci fragrance story, scent becomes an explorer of the power of memories, bringing them back from the past and making them live in our present. Skipping backward and forward in chronological time, the present and past are connected by a unique bridge that projects directly into the future. Presenting a new universal Gucci scent. A perfume unassigned with a gender or a time. Presenting Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur.

Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur is an elixir that transcends gender by its individuality, to establish a new olfactive family, Mineral Aromatic. The transcendent accord features unexpected and enigmatic ingredients, and is defined by a note of Roman chamomile. Alessandro Michele envisioned this particular flower inside the scent, blended by master perfumer Alberto Morillas.

Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur’s Roman chamomile is structured with Indian Coral Jasmine petals for tenderness, precious musks for depth, and noble woods including warm, luminous sandalwood and airy, subtle cedarwood, a powerful tree with deep roots and an irresistible vanilla note.

Disrupting the traditional olfactive families that classifies fragrances, Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur establishes a new modern fragrance category, Mineral, which is a mix of scents and emotions: airy, musky, transparent and authentic. Mineral was classically used to describe facets of some fragrances, and combined with Aromatic, it becomes the center of Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur.

”The musky mineral accord is the keystone of the fragrance: it links all the other olfactive elements together with pure softness,” Alberto Morillas.

“I had to think quite carefully about why Alessandro chose chamomile. When I started to work with the scent of chamomile itself, then I understood,” Morillas said. “No one had done it before. Chamomile is known all over the world. Everyone has smelt it at some point, but as a dream, a memory of childhood, something timeless, and never in a fragrance. This flower is much underestimated and is a plant with an exceptional olfactive signature.”

Roman Chamomile has grown around Rome in terraced gardens since the 16th and 17th centuries. Giving a green aromatic scent, the sunny and hardy flower has an unparalleled character, radiating with joy to a sweet aromatic dry down with honey and green apple.
Indian Coral Jasmine Nature Print ® : A note exclusive to Gucci, collected in India, the star-shaped flower emits a more powerful scent and colors at night, remaining lighter and fresher during the day. Referred to as Queen of the Night, the official flower of Bengal, this unique quality of jasmine has a honeyed temper and an orangey coral-colored heart.

Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur’s dry down is an evanescent cloud, evolving on skin with a rhythm of Musks and iconic woods: Cedarwood and Sandalwood. The woody architecture of the fragrance brings intensity to its structure.

Alessandro Michele discovered a vintage Gucci fragrance bottle, and was inspired by its design for Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur’s bottle. Grooved like a column from an ancient world, the bottle casts a refined silhouette in heavy transparent light green glass, crowned with shiny gold cap. Printed gold foil frames the label, revealing the Gucci logo together with the name of the fragrance.

“The packaging comes from the past, inspired by an old Gucci perfume from the early 90s. I didn’t want the bottle to take on a shape or size that is too feminine or too masculine because the perfume could be very much for women or very much for men,” Alessandro Michele.

Symbolizing a starry night sky and the earthly world that gazes up at it in marvel, the perfume’s green box is decorated with Celestial firmaments inspired by the paintings of Roman and gothic churches of the Middle Ages and Renaissance in Europe. This particular pattern recalls Giotto’s frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padova.

“The guiding element of the entire campaign is the idea of freedom; the idea of the non-era, the non-place, the non-social. I pictured a world that was a fresco of a ‘mythological’ life in which the family is a private community with its own social framework where total freedom of expression prevails and where the roles of people and things aren’t clear. I pictured the memory of an authentic memory,” Alessandro Michele.

A gathering of a free-spirited family, who embrace life by living freely and making memories together, an idea by Alessandro Michele. In diverse settings on the outskirts of Rome, the family are captured dancing, picnicking at sun kissed ruins of Canale Monterano, and in and around their family home, Montecalvello Castle—a medieval castle featuring a fountain in a courtyard, and enigmatic frescoes inside and out. Director of the campaign Glen Luchford imbues the video and images with vibrant nostalgia, under the artistic direction of Christopher Simmonds. The print advertising campaign is composed like intimate photo albums, that show each member’s character and their intimate rapport with one another.

Singer, songwriter and actor Harry Styles leads the cast of the family, which includes an eclectic and universal mix of talents and models: Zumi Rosow (designer and musician), Ariana Papademetropoulos (artist), Stanislas Klossowski de Rola (actor and musician), Olimpia Dior (artist), Leslie Winer (model and musician), Thomas Riguelle (model), Tex Santos-Shaw (model), Tessa Bruinsma (model), Olga Zapivokhina (model), Oleg Ulrich (model), Matïss Rucko (model), Mae Lapres (model), William Valente (model), Katea Gramma (model), Unia Pakhomova (model), Ellia Sophia (model), Elibeidy Dani Martinez (model), Cheikh Tall (model), and Aaron Sirainen (model).

The fragrance is available from August 1st 2019 as a 40m, 60ml and 100ml Eau de Parfum, and as a 30ml rollerball bottle.

this is the scent of a dreamer with flowy hair and loose clothes. a melancholic artist. an old soul, but not necessarily old in age. calmness in a bottle. it's elegant, versatile, herbal (but not in a harsh way- camomile herbal) and powdery, the almond adds a little twist to it. my most worn scent.

Holding onto that cozy bubble bath aroma long after you've exited the bubble bath.

I have been super curious about this perfume for a long time. I decided to blind buy it now that the price is so inexpensive. My husband and I both enjoy this quite a lot. He wasn't wearing fragrance today and took the bottle and sprayed himself with it. I love this on him and think he will reach for it more than I will. When I first smelled this I got a very herbal and dusty chamomile. Not a freshly brewed chamomile tea smell but the smell of pollen from the living flower. Bitter almond comes through as well. This is not the sugary almond most are used to in many fragrances today but a true bitter and savory almond. This fragrance has a very dry and dusty quality throughout. Different and it does not follow the trends of most designer houses and I respect that. In the heart of the fragrance I get a brilliant and cold mineral like musk that comingles with a shampoo clean jasmine. The herbal chamomile stays as well. I agree with one of the reviewers here that compares this fragrance to Johnson and Johnson original baby shampoo. So it does take me back to a memory. The smell of being a freshly washed child and then going back outside right afterwards to smell fields of wildflowers and stones warmed by a hot summer sun. And of course to get dirty all over again. A most interesting designer release. I really enjoy this on my husband and I have a feeling he will reach for this often. He really likes it. Truly unisex.

Edit this fragrance really pairs well with Babo baby sensitive bubble bath and the jar body and face cream. Makes the chamomile smell last even longer. Such a calming and renewing combo.

Something in the opening reminds me of hair remover. Maybe the bitter almond? Ended up giving it to my mom because other then that, I really did love this. I was just too impatient for the drydown. It smells lovely on her! Comforting, soft, beautiful.

I have a BNIB to sell if anyone wants it. UK shipping only, message me if interested.

I think this is a very unique perfume. It's pretty understated and herbal to me. I could imagine a woman with long gray wavy hair who's an artist and wears somewhat billowy dresses wearing this. I don't think it's for everyone. It's quite a mature scent because of the chamomile. I haven't smelled something quite like this but I don't think it's for me.

Msquared1985

This may be ascending to a Top 10 spot in my large perfume collection. I blind purchased Memoire at TJ Maxx after missing out on one bottle in my area, but then snagging it on clearance at another location that I don’t frequent as much. Still $40 for 2 oz., but it’s Gucci, not Guess! (And I actually love Guess, too, but you get the point.)

All I can say is, “Wow!” You know those perfumes that smell good when you stick your nose right up to your skin, but then you smell different but even more amazing notes from a slight distance? This does that. I’m no perfume note expert, but there’s the most gorgeous, addictive herbaceous and dewy/aquatic notes that I keep picking up from about a foot away from my hand, that are different and better than on the close-range sniff. This perfume isn’t a dupe for MAC Turquatic, but that’s another absolutely incredible scent that also has this same effect.

Someone said this isn’t a safe blind buy. I’d slightly disagree, but can attest that it may not be for everyone. If you like sweet, feminine, girly…this ain’t it. If you like fresh, herbaceous, dewy/aquatic, almost creamy, then run your nearest discount retailer.

One last thing: As much as I love this scent, it’s not memory-inducing in any way for me. Totally off-topic, but the scent that gives me inexplicable nostalgia is Jason Wu EDP. Not that I even knew about this scent or wore it back then, but something about it brings me back to circa 2009, living in Portland and working as a fashion intern and for Nordstrom. Now I’m off to leave this comment under that scent!

MARWAN ALMOQBEL

it is so quite . you cant wear it in a crowded place . the jasmine is all i smell its like a jasmine tea or an earl gray tea . so herby I think people should make it the perfume that holds their memories despite that i didn't make it my special fragrance , they choose harry styles to be the face of this fragrance and it is so perfect for him

AnastasiaGostieva

Tender herbaceous and slightly floral scent with a bit of spiciness in the opening. Very realistic dried camomile (tea) note. But also has a bit irritating sourness that puts me off.

One of my favorite fragrances of all time I’m currently half way through my fourth full size bottle of Gucci Memoire. I’ve been wearing it since it came out when I was in high school so there are tons of memories attached to this scent. My boyfriend (who doesn’t like fragrances) smelled this on me and loved it so much he wanted to wear it himself. He said the smell reminds him of something, he wasn’t sure what thought. It’s beautiful, it’s fresh, relaxing, meditative. I will always have a bottle of this in my collection, and lucky for me the price has gone down over the years. It definitely isn’t for everyone but those who get it get it. A lot of people comment on the longevity but I find the longevity to be good enough for this style of fragrance. It does last a while on me and I receive compliments on it. For me, I appreciate this for what it is it doesn’t need to scream or project like crazy and it’s great for layering!!

Sammysnose

This is absolutely relaxing, I spray it on my wrists and whiff it when I have a migraine. Will make you feel like you're in a green mountain on the first rainy day of the year.
I only wish it performed better. It's very intimate.

peacedeli

A true close, skinlike scent, and probably not a safe blind buy. I found a 2-year-old sample of this lying around and quickly bought a full bottle…memoir d’une odeur is soft, green, lightly creamy, comforting, and perhaps one of the most unique scents I’ve ever smelled. Though it’s powdery, mossy, nutty, and sandalwoody, none of these notes overtakes the other—there’s a phenomenal balancing act going on, and I’m impressed.

anyuh

Memoire d'une Odeur is a predominantly powdery herbal fragrance from the chamomile note which smells like chamomile tea. There is also a slight creaminess and together these notes come off as a relaxing, pleasant scent that could be found in higher end skincare. It's not that fresh or bright, there is no sweetness, and its lack of anything particularly masculine or feminine makes it wearable by anyone. It's like calming aromatherapy to me and can be worn in any weather. Unfortunately, Memoire doesn't last very long and it's pretty weak which sucks for an EDP.

I find it to be quite a unique fragrance for a designer brand to release nowadays and it's a shame that it no longer seems to be available in stores. I had to get mine from a discounter. I am hoping to see more creative and unique releases like this from designer brands, especially green and herbal fragrances even if they might not be as profitable!

LoneCamel

To me, the Mémoire will signify how the memory of this scent is all I have, after I remove my nose from my wrist. People are keen to sell their bottles second hand so I got this blind, very cheap. I was prepared for the worst because I don't like chamomille at all but this stuff is really very lovely. I get a yellowish musk, almost citrus brightness, powder-dry meadow in sunlight, something like anise and vanilla. If I walk around nose plastered to my arm, that is. One fine sunny day I will take the 58 mils out with me, enjoy them and expect zero when I get back home XD

Leighaaleigh

This is in my top 2 fragrances of all time and I wish it wasn't discontinued. I don't think this fragrance got enough credit, it is beautifully unique and of course quite polarising. It is a beautiful chamomile, herbal fragrance with a light almond and sandalwood background. I think it's quite cosy in a way and it really does evoke nostalgic memories, even though I can't quite put my finger on what those memories are. This is an absolutely unforgettable fragrance that makes think of meadows of chamomile flowers and herbs on a beautiful sunny day. I review fragrances on TikTok @fragrancefox0 & Instagram @the_fragrance_fox

dabatch

lol all the girls with their loud ubersweet perfume favourites dont get it.
this is perfume mastery + aromatherapy, ladies. you won't smell like you ran covered with sugar thru thousand beehives.

Katyaintheact

An enigma of a fragrance. It started out smelling almost like gin, then the chamomile started to take over. I kept picking up something that smelled almost like lemongrass in the first 5-10 minutes, but that's nowhere in the notes. The dry down is a nice mix of jasmine, musk, and a touch of vanilla. There's next to no sweetness and it sits close to the skin. This would be perfect for summer or for someone who likes very gender neutral scents. I am planning to pass this along to a friend as it doesn't fit my niche but it is a lovely perfume!

thaochipnd

The scent is unpleasant, like the smell of herbal leaves/pungent wind oil. I know this is a nature oriented perfume but I just can't like it, I don't feel any country Vibes like everyone describes. Even though it's the Vibes I've always loved with the flower fields peaceful, birds and butterflies flying, girls wearing floral dresses running on the meadow...

dunder988

At first it smells very bad... maybe it is from the bitter almond. But then it develop into something nice and powdery. I like it. The sillage and longevity is rather poor...

Indexfinger

Initial spray gives a very strong dental smell. I guess it comes from the bitter almond. I do not I like bitter almond. But then comes the very calming chamomile that reminds me of something that I cannot put my finger to. That's what made me buy it. I just honestly wish that they had not put bitter almond, I feel like it ruins it :(

gandrasta

It's light, calming, and close to the skin. There's nothing loud about it. Very charming chamomile and a whisper of mineral sandalwood. Ah, perhaps this mineral factor gives a hint of Odeur 53, but they developed into totally different directions. However, it's not strong enough to compete with tropical heat or your sweat at the gym. So, yes, reapplication is mandatory.

MonicaCloud

A very relaxing, herbal, earthy chamomile dominates the opening. It starts out metallic - almost savory then develops into this creamy, floral almond. The body is soapy and clean and it dries down to a beautiful jasmine and vanilla base. Memoire d'une Odeur has quickly become my favorite Gucci creation.

HoneySmoke889

I lovvvve it even more now that I've had it about a year. The almond is really prominent to me now and it's almost doughy which I really love. I usually wear it to bed. It's relaxing. I don't do sugar or vanilla so to me that doughy almondness is the right type of sweetness. I'm not sure many other people would see it that way. This is earthy and natural while being airy and clean.

Goldena35

This smells like an expensive version of Johnson Baby shampoo (the yellow one). I say that in a positive way. It’s light, soft and a bit powdery. I definitely pick up the chamomile and almond with some light jasmine and I get hits of the cedar and sandalwood alternating. I bought this for a song and a dance and am glad to have it. I get a decent scent bubble the first hour and then it fades to a lovely clean (not soapy) skin scent. Reminds me of musky tea.

EDIT: I am wearing this on a cool rainy day and it fits the mood perfectly…lol I see I am not the only one that picks up that vibe here. Also that vanilla comes out at the bottom. I didn’t notice it AT ALL until the very end. Nice surprise vanilla/ sandalwood combo.

fragfeg

Literal chamomile tea. I’m a gucci hater, but I keep this because it’s actually unique. Feels like a cool, rainy spring day with a cup of tea

smellimelk

a harvest hike in a light rain, asters abound. there's a sweet humidity that’s making way for the chill of precipitation. the dew is in your hair, on your jacket. your boots are slippery and covered in castings of tallgrass + seed pods. your treasures: stems and petals to be dried and hung with ribbons of twine. it's tea time.

Saboba

A very medicinal scent that is very prominent on the Chamomile. It`s a bit powdery. I cannot say I really dislike it as it´s very unique and interesting. But just not something I personally enjoy.

ShechireCat

I love how herbal Mémoire d’une Odeur is. I find it relaxing, calming, also a bit uplifting. During warm summer days it can become (surprisingly) almost overbearing. Goes well together with my green tea scented body lotion before bedtime.

bleukreuz

Smells like a less metallic and less jarring, softer comme des garcons 2

achelikeiache

For the bookish type, wallflowers. Chamomile and jasmine. Sits very close to the skin, so people will only smell you if they're up close. It's pleasant and non-offensive, yet it isn't one of those nothing-scents. If you want a perfume that gives you a presence, this isn't for you.

JusttheFactsMan

#495 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

Other than some bitter almond, which by the way is also the scent of cyanide, what you get here is cedar and sandalwood, almost exclusively the smell of cedar pencil shavings, which we've all smelled a hundred times before. I pick up zero vanilla or jasmine for the first 30-45 minutes, a hint of chamomile, which for me adds absolutely nothing. This is safe wear in most any context, but I don't know why you'd bother. Definitely earns it's mediocre rating. Skip this one.

ErwinIstCool1

I tried it in a department store 1 or 2 times and brought the tester home and I loved it. But now I think it’s too sweet and too powdery for my taste. Although I really like the musk and the Jasmin I just don’t think it’s the one for me something just isn’t right

Lila E

This may be the most unique perfume I've ever smelled. It is herbal and mineral, with no sweetness there at all. I personally hate sweet perfumes, so this is great for me. The chamomile note makes it very clean and calming--this reminds me of an open and airy classical art gallery. I love to wear it to bed because it makes me feel so clean. Definitely not for everyone, but iykyk.

pantburk

Memoire <3 One of the first perfumes i bought and it was love at first sniff. I havent found anything else that even comes close to competing with it. Dreamy, soft florals and sweet herbs. But not sweet in a way that is overbearing or cloying, but rather like steam rising from a honeyed cup of chamomile tea. It's quiet. Light. I cant think of a more perfectly named scent because this really smells like a memory, a dream you're on the verge of forgetting, a whispered secret. (And the stunning bottle only adds to that impression.) Makes me think of witches and fairies from some storybook, or some other odd but sweet little forest creature.

The only negative imo, as others have pointed out as well, is the longevity. It's a fleeting scent, barely noticeable after the first hour or so unless you're pressing your nose to your wrist. It's great as an everyday scent for those who want something that subtly stands out.

declanste49

Reminds me of the scent inside the theatre of Summerstock Austin's 2023 performance of "Wizard of Oz"

floridian_siren429

Oh, Gucci Memoire, my beloved. The longevity is as fleeting and light as the scent itself (at least on me - I've never been able to keep florals on my skin). Very little projection, so it's a nice every day perfume. Reminds me of something a fairy would wear, or a foggy spring morning. Soft floral/herbal without being too sweet or girly. It's mature but not in an old-lady way. I love the scent, just wish it lasted longer.

sajtwo

I previously left a negative review describing the scent as mothball-esque however, I decided to try it out one more time before I returned it. I'm glad I did because this fragrance is very comforting now. Mixing it with island vanilla by pacifica it turned it into a very dreamy bedtime scent. So overall, on its own I think Gucci Memoire d'une Odeur is somewhat lack luster, but it really shines with a vanilla layered underneath. Excited to try more perfume combos with this.

pinkRocket81

Memoire is just that; a memory, a moment.

Some reviews have mentioned its fleetingness. I believe the nose who created it had intended just for that. A lot of perfumes (ones anyways that aren’t necessarily created or destined for the big, showy, shiny department store display & hyper media advertising campaigns) are conceptual and nothing more. We forget that beyond the obvious (and that being olfactory sense/smell), perfume is narrative and often that narrative can be evasive.

Memoire is one of those rare commercial scents that doesn’t care so much about hype and success but more so reminds its consumers that art for art’s sake is still the driving force behind haute couture and Gucci’s brand (or at least did in its history). It’s a big enough, successful enough fashion house that it can arrogantly node to its consumers and ostensibly say “we don’t care if you like it or not,”. But, ironically, it’s a bit safe and still people pleasing enough to recover whatever overinflated budget it utilized to lavishly produce the balmy, dreamy, 1960’s psychedelic orgy-esoteric-nuanced-cum Harry Styles advertisements.

Memoire - if anything, is very memorable. There’s nothing else in the perfume market like it-as it successfully has captured chamomile as a lasting note. As fleeting and short lived as it is, its dreamy, mineral, camomile headnote crowned with soft white flowers and sweet vanilla remind us of the metaphor of life and all the sweet things cherished for only but a moment; childhood, youth, daylight, a flower of the field; bitten into by moths or wilted in the sun only after a few hours of blooming.
The dry down is strange. It starts as a dim picture of a meadow at twilight with the last rays of golden sun setting with the cool of night setting in. In this darkened field you can still smell the warmth of the dirt and ozone, mixed with sweet hay, dried flowers. It’s fresh but also dead; like something disintegrating into a powder beneath your toe-ringed bare feet -a dead bird or old log poached all day by the sun and turned to dust? This powdery bottom note to me tells the story poignantly; dust we are and dust we will return. The strong baby powder-heliotrope gothic romance evokes images of infancy and death all at the same time, and is the only part of the perfume that remains for a while on the skin, which sits closely without much sillage.
Memoire tries to capture something but doesn’t quite succeed in it. It captures the hedonistic lust for life which disintegrates almost instantly like a hand breath and reminds us of the very nature and irony of perfume itself.

circeslore

smells like chocolate, dirt and dust

lolajayne

I'm not usually a huge herbal/green fragrance lover (I tend to gravitate more toward clean/fresh scents), but I really really like this perfume. It feels like a misty cup of chamomile tea on a crisp spring morning. I wouldn't reccommend as a blind buy as I can see this being quite polarizing.

leaves.n.rain

I love this fragrance, and it's easily an everyday/signature scent for me. It's softly herbal, with a hint of that mineralic quality. The only downside for me is the longevity, this perfume is one you would need to spray several times for it to really last throughout the day. But it does last 5-6 hours on clothes. This perfume just smells really clean without smelling like soap or shampoo, or like anything else I've ever smelled before. The price point isn't bad for how unique the fragrance is, but it also doesn't last very long (which is a tragedy).

Jwdp

Wow, this is really, really nice. It’s light and inoffensive enough to wear in conservative settings (this will be my go-to office scent), but it’s still unique and interesting. I get none of the metallic or rubber notes that some mention, just soft herbal, grassy meadow, and mineral suggestions. For me it’s a Love.

Linda_80

Absolutely adore this!😍
Its super addictive!! Longevity is forever on my skin, love it🤍

Claugregg

There is something quite unique about Mémoire d'une odeur, especially from a designer brand. I never smelled anything like it, because it is clearly not a simple chamomile. At first, you get this note of dried tea leaves, that is quite strong and can be unpleasant for some. But, after it settles down, there is a sweetness that presents itself. Probably because of skin ph, or the floral notes. Mémoire d'une odeur is quite nice and relaxing, the kind of perfume you could wear to bed or in more conservative settings. It is pretty light, and disappear after too little time. Is it worth the price? Yes, because you have to admit, this is a very good looking bottle. And also, a very unique scent that deserves to be discovered.

annema

Ok I'm quite surprised with this one. I was expecting a generic designer fragrance but this is not. I had my eyes on the bottle for a while at my local TJMaxx and I thought "why not". I can smell all the notes but of course more dominantly the chamomile. It's way more herbal than floral and this is a good thing. You must enjoy the smell of dried herbs. I like it a lot. It reminds me a mix between chamomile shampoo and herbal tea. The kind of herbal tea you make yourself with herbs straight out of the garden. Longevity is fine considering who light the smell is. This is a skin scent but it stays with for at least half a day. The bottle is exquisite as well.

Blankman

I sampled this and after a few wears decided to get a full sized bottle. This is not a typical fragrance I would wear but there is something special about this juice. It's unlike anything I've smelled before! I'm a sucker for anything by Morillas and he did not disappoint with this one. It's green but not overly fresh, there is a musky element but it's not too spicy either, more cool mineral. The almond note is perfectly balanced by the chamomile. Really something special and I highly recommend!

pinkfreud

Gives me herbal witchy vibes. Picture this: it's a quiet and misty morning, and freshly picked herbs rest on the table while a cup of chamomile tea cools. A bit of an introverted scent, if that makes sense to anyone else. It reminds me of the feel of Nirvana French Grey, even though the notes are quite different.

sofiamagnolia

I thought I'd like this because of the chamomile notes (and also because the bottle was sooo pretty), but it makes me gag whenever I smell it. I don't think it works on my skin but at least it looks beautiful sitting on my mirror tray.

AncientModernAncient

I can't decide if I love this or hate this. I blind bought a bottle at TJMaxx, clearly a return, intrigued by the box and the chamomile note.

I swear it changes at every turn. I love the first few seconds of bitter almond and soon after I get a gorgeous patchouli (despite the lack of patch) and forest floor. Then it heads into very vintage-feeling green territory that I'm not into, at all. But then, once it morphs into a skin scent, I started to get some vanilla, some cedar, and I begin to like it again. Yet that middle ground makes me feel ill, and I find vintage scents to be some of my very least favorite. I feel like this may need to macerate?

Strangely, I get no chamomile at all, just earth and soil. I also don't get jasmine either which I'm a little sad about it, as it's the only white floral I enjoy. A weird one. I don't know if people would enjoy smelling this on me - do I even enjoy smelling this on me? I have tried it multiple times and I still don't know.

EDIT: @sajtwo is right, also goes moth balls on me, gotta be the jasmine. It's a shame because this is such a unique scent.

dantar

Beautiful earthy/herbal scent. I mostly get jasmine and almond, with almost no trace of vanilla. I don’t know if i’d call this perfume unique, it reminds me of something from you’d get from Tocca. I do think that the staying power is incredible. Even though the first spray is very subtle, i can still smell it over 9 hours later.

dlst08

I agree this is super nostalgic-smelling. Maybe Timotei shampoo from the 90s? The tv ads of women with long blond hair in meadows? Not sure where the scent memory comes from exactly, but the crushed chamomile and greenish musk is very appealing.

chrisaied

A couple years ago I tried it and like every teen without any experience in perfumes it was just fresh and nice.
Now I feel chamomile very well, green tea or herbal, well blended. I expected different, but this is must try.

elledorado

I have a 7.4 ml/0.25 oz bottle of this if anyone wants to buy or trade! Used only once!

PascalSimon

Unique and unobtrusive, reminiscent of niche perfumes. I smell almond, white flowers and light cedar the most, while the other notes create a perfectly balanced, very subtle combination that I can't define, but it's so beautiful, delicate, creamy and green. The bottle and the box inspired by Giotto's frescoes are one of a kind.

r0sebud

can't argue with the herbal note listed here. the dry down smells like exactly that– slightly bitter, citrusy herbs.

i will say that it gives you a "fresh" scent that doesn't just smell like floor cleaning agents or wet green plants. this is an almost sexy type of "fresh". like walking into a luxury dark wood cabin with expensive potpourri over the fireplace.

ViciousVirgo

At first spray it’s *very* sharp… repulsive is a strong word but… it really isnt good. Strong alcohol, herbal, bitter, petrol, chemical fume smell? Very weird. I have an aversion to chamomile, maybe it’s that or bad bottle? But… after a min it settled & evolved into a drydown thats actually quite beautiful. EDIT: I store my frags in a mini fridge and that’s what caused it. Prob too cold; raised temp & let it sit out a day and it’s not like that anymore. Noticed w a few other frags too. lesson learned!

Something abt it vaguely reminds me a bit of Clinique Happy? But less citrus. I get a floral sweet jasmine, subtle vanilla & a base of woody & musky notes that almost gives a it bit of a powder vibe with a hint of green herbals thats still there but in the background.

It does sit close to the skin; def unisex, but leans a teensy bit more femme on me. Very much in love with the pkg & btl but everything abt Mémoire feels so familiar & reminds me of something from the 90s/my childhood but I can’t grasp what it is… like a dream you can’t remember. At the same time it’s fresh and new and beautifully unique and simple. Glad I’m finally getting around to appreciating this one. The whole experience is unique & different from anything else I have.

lefterisparasyris

Some will find the chamomile-almond notes a bit odd in the overall composition. But I thought it was really nice, very easy to wear, fresh and perfect for an everyday use. It goes down super quickly though and needs more sprays than normal. It wears as a comfortable skin scent that leaves a light trace if that's what you're going for.

QualityGuy

I got this fragrance a while back, and was one of those "ill grow to love this one". But it just never happened.
This fragrance sits very intimate to me, and it almost gives me a headache every time I use it (maybe I should use a bit less the next time).
The smell itself is not necessarily bad in any way, its a good fragrance for spring and summer days with a decent longevity. As others have pointed out it gives you a like "this smells like when......". And to me this smells like a freshly cleaned house/room. And for me to be walking around smelling like my newly cleaned house is not appealing at all.

Lykopa

This smells like dirt (in a good way) and tea. Bitter and green and like the bottom of the woods. So if you’re into smelling like a forest fairy this is perfect for you. Ive had this since it came out and im only now coming around to it.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

This was a very herbal and green perfume on my skin. I also found it quite harsh and bitter to be honest. I could smell the chamomile, the almond and a lot of the woody notes to my nose. I only got a very small hint of the jasmine to be honest. It definitely is not a pretty fragrance by any means. I even felt at times like I was smelling crushed leaves. This made this all borderline masculine and quite mature smelling on my skin and it really wasn't my favorite.

The sillage on me was fairly weak but this fragrance did last about 5 hours on my skin before dissipating completely.

This is why I'd only give this fragrance a 3/10.

JupiterMoon

Opens up dry, downbeat and herbal, of chamomile and almond. This is where it can be polarising, as the trend nowadays is a strong refreshing citrus opening or a bright sweet one. This goes against that and why it can be seen as old-fashioned and mature. But that is deliberate- the scent, name, bottle design and marketing is retro/vintage. It's a deliberate throwback. The dry-down is really quite nice, where the jasmine starts to appear more with a subtle hint of vanilla. Overall it is quite light. Unique and understated.

electric_evelyn

It seems this is the kind of scent that will try to awaken a memory in everyone.
Because when you first smell it, you can't truly say what it is. Then you smell it again and think: hmm, this smells like when I was ... And there comes the association.

This is not impressive by terms of longevity or projection, but sometimes you might want something different than the same sweet, floral, gourmand, etc.

This is not to be used daily. It transcends you to a place and time, it has a time travel capability.

WijayantiKusuma

This might not a mass pleaser, but I’m in love with this. It’s calming, such a pleasant green fragrance with a hint of sweetness. It has niche quality however lack of longevity and a very intimate sillage. No matter how poor the longevity and sillage is I would still give a huge love for this stunning beauty. Added point: gorgeous green bottle and looks vintage, 10/10 for the packaging.

ANNA_KISELEVA

For me, from memory, it closely resembles the DECLEOR fragrance.
Amazing, cozy and soft notes of sandalwood

dexilio

It smells like drinking a cup of lukewarm chamomile tea on a rainy spring day, alone. It is calming but also with a hint of sadness. I dig it.

armipagan

A beautiful Spring/Summer unique masterpiece. It really does take me back. I wore this on a work trip to NY and the male taxi driver complimented me and asked what it was. I showed it to him online and he said he was going to buy a bottle.

Not a beast type fragrance but it does create a calming close chamomile bubble around you.

Something very elegant about this juice.

Caitydidnt

I really wanted to like this. The bottle is gorgeous and the description and notes really appealed to me. Unfortunately I’m just not a fan. It smells sweet and herbal, almost medicinal to me. I’m not a fan of chamomile as a flavor and have never smelled it in a fragrance so maybe that’s what I’m having a negative reaction to. I’m going to try it a few times and see if it grows on me but will most likely end up giving away.

Infernallys

On my skin, I only smelled the chamomile note and i didn’t really appreciate it. So I was layering it with un jardin sur la lagune from Hermès.

cherrie5

It smells like the morning after replacing your sheets and taking a bedtime shower. Skin that is clean but not tooo clean

Allthingssmelly

I understand why it's named what it is. It does smell like something I've smelled before when I was young and I swear the bottle is something I've seen from my childhood. However, I do not like the juice in the bottle. This was not enjoyable. Gave me a headache...that's all.

VeroMikaela

The memory of a smell... what a romantic name and how appropriate and true to what you feel when you smell the gucci perfume. Because a smell will always be associated with more, especially with emotions, and will be fixed for us in the form of a memory. Alberto Morillas created perhaps one of his best perfumes. It is unique in its composition, so well mixed that it is difficult to distinguish the notes. However, the chamomile note remains the center of gravity of the composition, an aromatic and slightly herbaceous chamomile, without that watery component of chamomile tea. It seems slightly musky - powdery at the base, but you can't say that with certainty. How you can't fit him into any well-defined category. For me it is clearly a niche perfume, both in terms of creation and addressability. Unfortunately, there are people who cannot perceive its complexity and this can be seen from the reviews and people who are somehow anosmic towards it who can no longer feel it after a short period of time. I consider myself lucky, it lasts 7-8 hours on me, incredible!

be555a

interesting opening, and one that is very refreshing in the modern perfumery landscape. a medicinal note of chamomile, with the backdrop of a small and slightly bitter almond and musk. a relaxing herbal, one that feels like a fantasy depiction of a garden. extremely unissex, and that was one of the things that stood out to me the most. i was very reminded of harry styles, who turns out is the face of the fragrance. and saying this, feels like a very weak ode to the beauty of green fragrances of the past. it lasts 2 hours on my skin, and even though the opening is pretty and melancholic, is it really worth it for the faint smell of glory? just get some aromatics elixir. Alberto Morillas strikes again

Forbiddenjade

Frankly there's not much to write home here.

A herbal, non projecting camomile scent. Flat as the drink. It is a sad scent too, reminiscing of days when one is ill and drinking camomile to get through the sickness.

No, thanks - and it definitely makes sense that they discontinued this. More of aromatherapy than perfume which could appeal to the masses. The poor performance and unoriginal notes did it.

Got a full bottle for sale, with box. UK only sorry, we can't ship outside the country.

BlissfulLez

Nice light scent for days when you want to smell clean or days when you don’t know what to wear but want to smell nice. I like to pair it with BBW Sage and citrus and Auric Blends African Musk on cool spring summer days. Nice scent for the office or everyday daytime wear.

HoneySmoke889

This is my daily after shower scent. I love the powdery almond and the slightly bitter herbal quality. Dried down it smells like a bar of soap some days. It doesn't last long but I don't think that's the point. I love it as a post-shower ritual and the bottle brings that old world charm.
7/4/2023 I take it back this lasts all day. Love this stuff so much.

Gothicat

Upon first smell it immediately brought up a familiar memory of childhood, one I cannot remember. The opening with bitter almond isn’t my favorite as it smells…bitter. The dry down is where it truly shines. Soft, delicate and light sweet spring floral and fades to a gorgeous soft musk. Unfortunately, it fades rather quickly but for the feeling it evokes makes it worthy of multiple spritzes throughout the day. I recommend it and would say it’s a safe blind buy.

stylishchickenbone28

A strangely long lasting and devastatingly beautiful herbal floral fragrance that just works... depending on who you ask. Some seem to dislike this, and I can't really work out why. It's modern, chic and effortless. You can apply lightly for a soft aura, or apply a little bit heavier for something more full bodied. When I wear this, I don't really think chamomile tea per se... more like chamomile water. Then there's something that's just completely indescribable. It's like a lightly carbonated (without being fizzy) beverage you might find in an Indian grocery store. Just magical. Lasts about 10 hours on me.

mjmxo

Don’t know way I waited so long to get my hands on this!

The name could not be more fitting - there’s something so deeply nostalgic & comforting about this scent. definitely one of the most unique fragrances I own. its cozy but light & airy, romantic yet fresh & clean. it’s a truly poetic experience :-)

ilikeweirdsmells

I blind bought it and wanted to love it so badly but it just didnt work for me. The chamomile fronts, to me it smelled like a damp bag of chamomile tea leaves after steeping in lukewarm water. The bitter nuttiness and fruitiness of the almond mixed with the muskiness from the base note was reminiscent of how skin smells after a volleyball game at the beach, dried sweat and salty skin; it was almost sour which I suspect mostly came from the vanilla. Sadly I didnt get much of the florals esp the indian jasmine, which is a shame since im a slut for jasmine. Its not loud, and doesnt project much which makes it a safe and non offensive choice for someone looking for a good green herbal scent.

t3nlikescookies

Nice herbal unisex scent. Unfortunately the performance is abysmal. Perhaps that's the reason why you can get it for 60€ in duty free?

Zoeanne

I was surprised by how much I liked this! It's not what I would normally go for but I'm so glad I gave it a go. It's a beautiful spring/summer scent and it really does have this quality about it that evokes memories from my childhood. It's clean and fresh but far from simple and uninteresting. I agree that the sillage isn't huge but it leaves a gorgeous scent that almost blends with my natural skin scent to make it a lovely my skin but better perfume.

Frabra88

I will start by saying that this composition was a sort of gift to my life, I encaunter it at the right time. I was just escaping the most dark depressive episode of my life, and it brought to me light and a sense of self that I tought was lost.
Finally my hair were truly clean, dancing in the summery wind...and a few dabs of this behind my hears made me feel clean and safe again. Even free.
I apologize because this is probably inappropriate and too personal, but it is a testament to the evocative and artistic nature of the product.
Indeed I understand that it is less perfumey and more an experience, especially coming from the Gucci designer line. They could have easily priced this higher and made it part of the premium/private line (wich I find so poetic by the way). The name fits this extremelly well, and so does the packaging both in color and design (the old reworked Gucci coloumn bottle, so nostalgic). Even the gifting set is extremely well tought..with the Gucci stars theme. And that ad was goals!

The scent goes with some aestethics better then others for sure...I am thinking of 70's, cottage, hippy and bhoemian, and even that boho/wishmistical goth. You can visualise the Alessandro Michele's man and woman wearing this for sure. The beauty is though that everyone could wear this and not feel out of place.

As for the scent itself, on my skin the roman chamomille is the absolute star. It's more similar to dry, essicated chamomille then tisana or essential oil. Could make you think of long forgotten herbs in some drawers of a hippy house. Or the safety of childhood and home if you are italian like me (here chamomille infuse is a must!).
When I smell it, flashes of pale yellow/mustard/sunflower colors invade my head.
I can pick up some solar notes more so then the minerals ones, probably because of the way the jasmine is used here. Very delicate and herbaceous, forget the usual designer overly feminine jasmin. At times I find it has a dried saliva facet but only when you smell from close skin. The almond is nothing nutty, and not even truly bitter, but a realistic immature almond when it is still tender and hydrated and has on it that green delicate skin.
The composition has some watery elements (probably those minerals notes?) but nothing truly acquatic.
Dry down keeps the dry quality of the scent, sandalwood is light and "blonde", musk very gentle, togheter they have a human skin quality about them. Jasmin and chamomille still linger, but the dry wood dimension is potent and round. I suspect cedar is in here because there is a faint pencil's shaving thing going on in the heart of the dry down. I don't know what role the vanilla has, probably it smoothes things out a bit, but I would have never guessed it was here if not declared in the notes.

As a perfume this stays close to skin, but on me the more I sprayed the more it lasted and projected. Probably it could have performed better but then..would the nature of the scent remain the same?
I love it on spring but prefer it during summer. I picture myself wearing it during a cool summer afternoon while listen to Spacemen 3 "Transperant Radiation", drinking iced green tea on my terrace.
I never want to be without this.

gonegirl

a quiet, introspective scent. reminiscent of sipping hot tea while it rains heavily outside. cozy and soft without being overly vanillic or sweet. i can see why so many people are saying this is their bedtime scent.

to my untrained nose, it is bittersweet/herbal/earthy. it gets sweeter over time but retains a distinct bitter edge.

i really like this, but the longevity is so bad. it would not suit this scent's vibe to be loud with a crazy projection, but for the price i really wish it lasted longer. sometime i'll get a smaller size to see if i can make it last longer with vaseline/by spraying on clothes.

edit: i was going through the reviews and found out this is discontinued? of course this happens to every fragrance i'm interested in 😭

Oaxaca Lover

I loved it, but not buying it again. I really enjoyed it, and got lots of compliments.

daley999

I danced around this lovely bottle for a looong time - I am talking years - before succumbing to the allure of the visual over the olfactory. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to love in this one but I have a real love:hate relationship with the somewhat overpowering chamomile "top" note which stays with me for ever. The beauty of this flacon gives it pride of place in my collection but every day it is becoming a longer reach for me. Any thoughts on layering to lift and sweeten the ultragreen chamomile effect?

anntdangg

I guess I'm not a big fan of almond note. It gives me the same medicinal, rubbery smell as in MFK 540 extrait. Hardly detect any jasmin.
It is very unique, strange perfume from a designer brand though.
Longevity is a big issue.

FloralChels

I really like this perfume.

It’s unique, I don’t have anything similar to it and the bottle is so pretty.

However … it only lasts, at most, an hour!

For the price, I’m not prepared to keep re applying it as I’d probably go through the entire bottle in a week or two.

vibrant.girl

The weird 'baby doll head', 'musty cedar chest' or 'raw wool' descriptions below all make sense to me. This frag is decidedly NOT trying to be a pretty perfume, but to evoke a reaction. I like how it works out, and because it has very small sillage, I like sniffing my wrists to see how it develops through the day.

All that said, the bitter almond note isn't my favorite *on my skin* so I use this to mist my pillows before bed! The chamomile, jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla settle in and I'm ready for bed... a great alternative to lavender. Obviously it's too expensive to be a pillow mist, but it looks cute on my vanity so I don't regret my purchase.

zmuc

The bottle is so pretty and vintage looking, but the sprayer is awful. After it dries it has a nice musky, slightly sweet, herbal scent. Smells expensive and calming, like a nice laundry detergent, very cozy. I prefer how it smells on me in the hot weather, it's a nice change from the usual summer fragrances.

L8eenL8

Bottles always speak to me, and I knew I'd love Memoire d'une Odeur the second I laid eyes on it. This, combined with the fact that there's a chamomile note listed, sealed the deal.
I do get the 'burning rubber' experience for about a minute, but in my mind, even this fits the precious memories evoked by the fragrance - a neighbor is burning a pile of stuff during spring cleaning in my Eastern-European village, and the smell sneaks in through the slightly open window of my childhood bedroom while I'm catching up on homework.
There is a lot of slightly sweetened chamomile tea, which is all I've longed for, a core comfort scent for me. The big surprise is, I smell... wool. Yes, sheep's wool. I know the aroma perfectly well, as my mom used to treat deep coughs by binding unprocessed wool drenched in alcohol to our chests when I was little. So oddly comforting.
It's definitely a skin scent, but it's a personal thing anyways. Luckily on me, the longevity is pretty good, around 6 hours. Still, I reapply just to feel more of it as I can't begin to explain how dearly I love it.

AnlisaC

This smells much better when it sat for a while in my armoire and now that it’s spring! Definitely a keeper and I will be wearing this through the warmer weather! Longevity is not the best but ok!

IsSheNotFragrant

I heard that this has been discontinued. I may be wrong bit if it has, it is entirely understandable. Someone at work was wearing it and it smelled musty and strange. Like one of those perfumed drawer liners that you used to be able to buy back in the day; stale. Thats my memoire of it. Its one of those 'interesting' things that get parked in the back of the wardrobe which are sniffed from time to time but rarely worn before eventually being cast out after a good cull. If you like to actually wear perfume to smell good and approachable, then its not a good investment.

jventura489

I just received the rollerball of this fragrance today. This is a gorgeous spring day or evening wear and I'm so happy I blind bought it. It is absolutely stunning.

UK-rain

Very unique !

BigMommyMilkers

Mémoire d’une Odeur by Gucci is a fragrance that evokes memories and emotions with every spritz. Its unique blend of scents is a journey through time, a poetic ode to the past and a promise of the future.

At first, the scent is a burst of freshness, like a breeze on a summer day. The top notes of chamomile and bitter almond are delicate and soothing, like a warm hug from a loved one. As the scent settles, the heart notes of jasmine and musk come to life, adding a touch of sensuality to the fragrance.

But what truly sets Mémoire d’une Odeur apart is its base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and cedarwood. These warm, woody scents are reminiscent of the old books and memories that fill our minds and hearts. They are a promise of comfort and security, a reminder that even in uncertain times, there is beauty and stability to be found.

The overall effect of Mémoire d’une Odeur is one of comfort, nostalgia, and hope. "My memory is primarily olfactive so, for me, my sense of smell is my memory" - Alberto Morillas. It is a fragrance that takes us on a journey through time, evoking memories and emotions with every scent. It is perfect for those who appreciate unique, poetic fragrances that are both comforting and uplifting.

It is very much a skin scent and a scent for you, don't expect loud projection and sillage. On my skin longevity is good compared to what the other reviews are saying about it. Not a safe blind buy as it can be really polarizing to some.

In short, Mémoire d’une Odeur by Gucci is a scent for the dreamers, the romantics, and the seekers of beauty in the world. It is a poetic masterpiece that captures the essence of life, love, and memory in a bottle.

ANNA_KISELEVA

I'm not indifferent to Morillas...
Absolutely amazing fragrance - if I can say so about soft, natural, native and cozy - both noble and thoroughbred. (I think my description is reminiscent of a Provencal castle on the outskirts of Paris) For a connoisseur of perfumery.

Tony Shades

Smooth velvety green floral aromatic fragrance that reminds of a nice emerald outfit.

Amelia Katla

tried this during a heatwave were i was seeking AC in a department store. I was sweaty and covered in sunscreen, and it just smelled lovely to me. Only smelled it that once, so when I saw it on sale I just grabbed it. after a few trials I heavily regretted that. It was all of a sudden way too sweet and synthetic. I came to slowly hate it, and gave it to my partner, but everytime they put it on I wouldnt like it either. I got them hooked on other things instead and this has been collecting dust.

darlindearest

I’d had an empty sample vial of this perfume lying around for a while and recently I decided to give it a whiff and bought a small bottle right off the bat. Judging by the notes I would’ve never thought that I’d like it cause whenever I see vanilla in the pyramid I run as far away from it as I can cause no matter what the other notes are, my nose will inevitably zero in on vanilla and get nothing else. Jasmine is also something I tend to avoid in my perfume. So considering all these things, it came to me as a surprise that I actually enjoy this scent. It is indeed green and somewhat bitter, to me it smells like something you’d catch a whiff of off someone and would be wondering what on earth this scent is. It’s definitely intriguing and unique.

Jodyoatman

I saw this fragrance recommended based on mbti personalities, for an infp. I can see why someone might recommend this fragrance to this group, but it’s just not special enough. It’s special at all.

Jenny Reese

Lovely, pale, and pillowy, but so soft I can barely smell it after a minute even if I really blitz myself with it. It's like I'm permanently nose-blind to this fragrance.

agnes_holl

I've had this for a little over a year and I'm on my second bottle already. I love it. It's so weird. The first time I tried it in the store I couldn't stop sniffing my wrists trying to figure out what this is. Old chamomile teabags, dusty candles and a whiff of wet grass drifting in through an open window.

bloodorangesoda

Smells like a perfectly brewed cup of loose-leaf chamomile tea with a splash of milk. It is calm, soothing, and relaxing. I often wear this to bed, but it makes a great everyday scent as well. Not much projection, no real standout notes beside the chamomile and the longevity is ~4 hours. The bottle is also one of my favorites from recent years. I see it on sale relatively often so keep your eyes peeled and pick this one up when it is not full price!

Barbarossa

Non sweet camomile tea. I use it when I have headaches, since it’s the only thing that doesn’t make feel worse. But overall very weird perfume. I’ll finish the bottle and will never buy this again.

Random Spirit Lover

A weird, weird chamomile and almond liqueur scent with a persistent rubbery note that is always at the fore. Behind that ever-present rubber smell is something wispy and dreamlike, floating just out of reach. It’s somewhat disconcerting how cozy this is, because my nose gets confused at to whether I’m enjoying the synthetic/rubbery aspects or the comforting chamomile facet… like it feels wrong to like it as much as I do, like a guilty pleasure. As others have said this seems best as a night time/bedtime for yourself fragrance.
Surprisingly out there for a designer fragrance. The weirdness keeps me sniffing it, to try and figure it out, and to figure out why I like it, because it really is oddly appealing yet not readily apparent as to why.
Plus I like it because every time a spray it I laugh to myself thinking about the reactions of all the people who tried it either because it was at one time the latest Gucci scent, or because Harry Styles was the face of the campaign.

Nat001

This smells identical to my Aqua Universalis Forte Maison Francis Kurkdjian. For the price, I am not complaining.

sabin00b

I'm surprised to say I've started to love this scent. I thought the notes looked fine enough, but it was really the polarizing reviews that attracted it to me most. When it first arrived, I was disappointed - it smelled of that over-the-top one-note Macy's perfume section smell that most "designer" scents have for me. Not interesting at all!

I don't know if it's because I let it sit for a few weeks after being shaken up in transit or what, but I do NOT smell that at all anymore. It's almost the exact opposite - this smells NOTHING like the average perfume, and barely even like a perfume at all. It smells like soap - like a bar of soap at a fancy hotel. It's THE scent for when you haven't showered - not because it covers up your natural stink, and not because it has some laundry Clean Reserve-esque scent; it just feels like it absorbs the stink molecules and leaves only the Memoire molecules. In this way, it's totally inoffensive.

But it's a bitter scent. Not feminine, not masculine, the way a cup of tea lacks gender. Jasmine and vanilla do not exist anywhere in this perfume that I've detected. It's bitter, natural tea, like the time I brewed fresh chamomile but left too many leaves in (which taste like grassy shit, only use the flowers if you're reading this). It's a bitter tea that's riding skin musk and sandalwood like a bicycle. It's not creamy, maybe leaning toward airy but not effervescent, rather grounded instead. It's very blended. I wouldn't call it warm, perhaps it even leans cool - HOWEVER, this scent is very different in heat vs cold.

In the LA winter, I'd call it a coolish scent, both aloof but also a bit cold like a running stream. But in the LA summer, when we don't have AC and we're relying on natural ventilation to combat 90 degree temps...it's still one of the only scents that feels light and cool enough to wear while dripping sweat, but it blends into the skin much, much more, and feels like a much more friendly, approachable scent.

The lasting power is weak and I thought the sillage was small until my coworker said I smelled good one day out of the blue when I'd French bath'ed it in lieu of a morning shower.

finding_memo27

Im so disappointed to write this as I was SO excited to smell this based off of the notes. I usually love gentle, green scents, but on first whiff of this, I could not get past the smell of RUBBER. It smelt so strongly artificial and rubbery both in bottle and on my skin. After sitting on the skin the rubber smell did fade a small amount, but not enough. Underneath the hit of rubber, the green, fairylike scent that this has been described as still didn't do much for me. Its definitely more of a sour, sharp green instead of a light and dewy green that Im more partial to. The chamomile is present as well and quite nice, but again, the rubber smell overpowers all. I smelt this inside of a Gucci store, and Im not sure if I smelt a faulty one or what, but the unpleasant note definitely outshone the pleasant ones.

nina_lovesscents

One of my absolute favorite perfumes! I love the scents and the name just as much :) The only downside is, that it only last 3-4 hours but I still love the scent!

silverlocusts

What a lovely, warm, slightly creamy skin-plus scent. It sits close to the body but it is definitely noticeable as well. If you go in for a hug or stand very close to someone wearing this you would get a whiff of something lovely. Is it their shampoo? Their detergent? Their normal smell? It is not overpowering but it isn't so shy that it disappears either. The almond and vanilla keep it warm but do not make it overtly sweet, and the sandalwood provides just the right hint of spiciness. I think this is a sleeper hit in the Gucci range, and it just feels like a warm hug to wear. I used up my samples and need to invest in a full bottle soon because this is subtly intoxicating to me.

I sprayed a tester of this and really didn't enjoy it, despite wishing I did! I decided to try out the rollerball pen and somehow, smells completely different on me and lasts for ages!

anguineascension

It's so light? When I tested this I could barely smell anything. It's a pleasant scent and all but it could be stronger :(

Anthonyyy

its so pretty but sadly the performance is terrible on my skin

delrey

this smells like skin and chamomile, it's very faint and subtle

AriaLennon

This is a lovely fragrance

sbmmbs21

Wanted this to be a herbal/green fragrance but all I get is the white florals! Wouldn’t buy a full bottle

Mother Nurgle

Chamomile, chamomile and more chamomile. Probably the least sexy perfume I own - but in a good way. It smells innocent, like childhood.

AnlisaC

Well I usually don’t like to write a negative review especially since fragrances are a personal thing, but this is not one of my favorites. I did blind buy it, but I did try it once in Ulta when it first came out. Anyway, I have to say this I’M hoping that this will be different for me in the spring! This is a herbal aromatic tea scent on me. It will work for a hot summer day. I will keep it until I can try this out in summer. I think Gucci was trying to make a unisex fragrance with this. Projection is pretty good, longevity is also good. I will come back to give my thoughts in the right season for this. Southern Hemisphere take note! Until then…….

thebalibelly

this is masterpiece at least in my nose. I'm a man, grew up in bali my family used to have chamomile tea surrounding jasmine plants at the back of mum's garden and this... just bring all memories back alive as I live in Canberra now. I tried to be masculine with bleu de chanel, Ysl Y edp & Hermes Terre D'Hermes but always too strong & somehow leaves me a headache as I dont think they just didnt match with my oily skin plus maybe my nose loves the citrusy smell. My top pick is Issey Miyake l'eau d'issey, Aqcua di Gio edp which again by Mr. Morillas, Dolce Gabbana light blue intense & Chanel Allure homme edition blanche. This Gucci Memoire d'Une Odeur stays and projects so well in my skin and last 7+ hours. What a gorgeous, not too strong and sickly & for people out there, please do not blind buy as this masterpiece could be too feminine or too masculine as Mr. Morillas says. I am bloody obsessed with this scent. 100 out of 10.

secxh

I spray this on my pillow because it smell so cozy to me. I dont recommend to people who dont like herbal/mineral scents. I love it though

CeeTee

Very nice and uncommon chamomile and musk experience. Fleeting and close to the skin. Would make a nice non-intrusive personal fragrance for those who like a calming ‘aromatherapy’ for relaxing. Would also be appropriate or for work, especially for those in professions that discourage fragrances..
Would also work nicely, for those folk seeking a peaceful slumber, especially for those who enjoy the serenity of a cup of chamomile tea.
Ultimately, not for me, but was fun to try from a decant. I can see this being a hit for the person looking for something pleasant during the occasions I mentioned.

liat

This smells like a combination of dust and all my allergies

cynnerg67

I’m baffled. I ordered this based on notes and reviews (something I never do because my nose is a finicky b—-) thinking I’d get a warm, herbal, gently sweet forested chamomile. Soft, herbal, pretty bedtime scent vibes.
What I got was a BLAST of SUPER SWEET green tea (think body spray loud) that dried down to a less sweet green tea with an itty bitty hint of jasmine. No warmth, none of that calming combo of listed notes. Zero forest vibes.
After half an hour of utter confusion I finally asked my husband if I smelled like I’d soaked myself in Disney Princess poopourri🤣 to which he responded, “Wow. Nooooo. Not. At. All.”
HE really liked it and described a delicate very pretty GREEN floral. NOTHING like what I was experiencing.
So I won’t give up on it just yet, but…
poopourri.

Louchest

Af first I liked it, then I grew to have a dislike for it. It reminds me of soap bubbles/ bubbles that kids are blowing.

Slava29

Unisex but leans slightly feminine, average performance but extremely soothing. Chamomile & musk are very calming together. A great fragrance to wear before bed and after a busy day. Perfect for spring. I'm pleasantly surprised.

aquadiamor

I find my interaction with this perfume hilarious because of how much it offends my olfactory senses.
The first time I tried it I almost vomited in the store. It reminded me of drunks and bastards that reek after a heavy nights binge. At the time I could not for the life of me phantom how anyone in their right mind could possibly want to smell anything close to that. After I had smelled it I had to leave the store immediately so I could escape the horrific scene it had set in my mind. I was furious with the perfume for having disturbed my peace of mind.

Now time has past, a year, and I’ve avoided this perfume like the plague. I’ve seen it displayed triumphantly while I walk past the glass shelf’s holding my breath. I enjoy visiting perfume shops so I am often in them, but that green bottle of anxiety is the cold reminder of an awful experience. Now after all this time past I reasoned with myself, could the perfume really be that horrific as I had remembered? Was it perhaps a factory or batch issue that had caused it to go completely off and wrong? I almost felt bad how much I had scrutinised this perfume in my mind. So against all odds I decided one day to try it again while doing my usual weekly stroll along the endless perfume shelves. I pick it up and spray it on the little white paper curiously apprehensive on what will greet me. At first it just smells bad but not nearly as terrible so I let my guard down to take another whiff. Instantaneously I’m transported back a year ago where I fell violently nauseous and all the scents my senses desperately hate the most flood back in my mind. It’s incredible how badly I’m offended and sick but I rush immediately out into fresh air once again baffled on what it’s done to me.

It’s not a batch issue it’s a me issue. The perfume is called memoire for memories and I suppose it gives me that, even if it is of memories or events I deeply hate and despite. It makes me angry, sick, offended, and even appalled. I wonder if it’s because all it ever gave me was pure drunken alcohol mixed with creepy misty scent. If someone wore this I would fear them. Since I keep myself nowadays very far away from this perfume I can find some joy in the experience it invokes, frankly because it is so bizarre. Not ever has another perfume made me feel this way, and I am not picky either. I know what I like and don’t like, but the perfumes I don’t like never offend me or give me physical symptoms. This perfume is an experience unique of its own.

Perhaps one day if I ever get brave enough I’d buy it just to put it in a shelf somewhere in my home where I can keep an eye on it and take back some of the power it has over me, a offensive power I don’t understand at all. The bottle is pretty cute after all so it wouldn’t be a complete waste.

Samosam

Great and beautiful smell, unfortunately, very weak performance

hijoebye

My second review just to say that my perception of this having weak projection and longevity may be wrong! I always thought this was more of an intimate scent until someone complimented it today who was at least 6 feet away. I think the key with this one is you must overspray with the nozzle close to the body and give it a full hard press so the atomizer really works those juices!

samanthagram

This is one of my top 5 favorite fragrances, I just wish the longevity and sillage were better. It is so calming with the chamomile note. It kind of smells like tea and used money (in the best way possible). I'm almost done with my travel size and I'm going to buy a full bottle with no hesitation. Hopefully it lasts longer on clothes than skin!

sobismells

Very heavy on the musk note - smells like public bathroom soap for some reason. Can't detect jasmine at all - had to scrub this one off :(

Raylin

I like this one but it dries down to a distinct ...hotel shampoo ...which doesn't smell bad, in fact its still nice but I just don't want to end up smelling like hotel shampoo at the end of the day lol

MANIABOTA

For me it smell ozonic with some floral back ground and the notes don't really have much dimensions. No a favourite.

Lanascola

I remember being so excited to try this one however i was instantly and extremely let down.

The notes intrigued me yet the good reviews led me on.

I have never really disliked/ hated the smell of perfume apart from this one, it smelled like literal grass mixed with some herbs.. very unpleasant in my experience.

Heliga

I don't reach for this very often, but every time I do I'm surprised by how much I like it. It's an odd scent, the smell reminds me more of nature than of any perfume. I would describe it as a field of grass that has dried but then gotten wet again, mixed with old library books. It's not especially smooth, if anything a bit prickly which I wouldn't normally like. I completely understand why a lot of people don't like it.

I can't intellectualize why but for some reason I absolutely love Memoire d'une Odeur and find it really comforting. It's especially strange since I'm allergic to grass and normally the smell of it makes me want to run in the opposite direction or close every window.

isabellerose

This perfume smells amazing! Not sure how I feel about the initial notes (they are intriguing, though, and in a good way), but as it develops it just gets better. It smelled for so many days on the tester. I wasn't sure, though, if I wanted to smell like it (wasn't sure it was me, or feminine enough), so I tested it on my skin and unfortunately, it vanished in 15 minutes! However, I've tested quite a few perfumes lately and most of them disappeared very quickly from my skin. Niche perfumes too. So, it probably has nothing to do with it, but with my skin lately.
Gorgeous gardenia smelled too sweet even just sniffing the bottle, couldn't bear to spritz it. Gorgeous Jasmine was interesting - pretty good, just not quite there for me. Flora is a bouquet of flowers. But Memoire is special! A truly well made perfume. I'm going to test it again in another season, maybe my skin won't be as stubborn.
For anyone reading the negative reviews and deciding against it - test it yourself. When I tested it today I got a not so pleasant blast of smell - it didn't smell at all like first 2 times I tried it. Maybe an off batch or the tester bottle turned... something was off. In that instant, I understood why it was offensive to some people. And still after some minutes it started developing as it does, went back to it's enchanting scent.
I'll give it more chances, and hopefully my skin starts cooperating.

naptimenyquil

i'm not getting fairy vibes, definitely getting old lady vibes though.

psychedelicious

I really wanted to love this one because the design of the bottle is incredible, but my god it has become one of my most hated perfumes. It’s an instant headache even just walking past someone wearing it.

What a genuine shame.

Nemorivaga

Wow, wow, wow. I feel so much love towards this fragrance, and it keeps growing on me.
This scent to me feels bright and summery - but not in a light and fresh way but in a very earthy way. And it feels so full of happines and optimism. This scent makes me imagine lying on the ground on very soft green grass under the warming summer sun, eyes closed and feeling happy.
I love how unisex this is as well. Probably the parfume I've found that feels most "me". And the bottle is so beautiful as well! This is a 10/10.

wednesday272

Don’t get the hype, it smells like an earthy hairspray, if that’s even a thing

Let_it_be

Smells like Guerlain's Samsara with Chamomile added. It's a relax scent, more suitable for women I think. Not very unique but it's has a calming effect - probably can be use for aromatherapy.

kerriejo

This was OFFENSIVE. I honestly don't see how anyone can like this, much less LOVE it - but fragrance is definitely subjective and I'm happy for those that found something good in this.

I really thought this would be amazing - and, to my deriment, it was a blind buy. The notes were interesting! It felt like this could be the best hippie-esque, fairy-like, earthy and light fragrances ever.

I could not have been more wrong.

This is so incredibly bitter and so 'herbal' (if that's what you can really call it). To me, there is nothing feminine in this at all, much less 'fairy-like'. It smells like someone took some rubbing alcohol scented with some 'herbs' and threw it in the wet, dirty mud and grass by a very dirty lake or river. It's mineral heavy to the point that you can almost feel the grit of it in your throat. Like the white, crusty mineralization that collects on your faucets.

It's like rotting vegetation by a forgotten pond that someone tried to throw some dead flowers and old herbs on to try to make it smell better.

Absolutely nauseating, nose-wrinkling. I had to run for the coffee beans.

HARD no. This was literally RETURNED. Not even sold - people REALLY need to sample this before buying. Seriously.

Woodlaw08

I saw people on tik tok saying how they imagined that this is what a fairy would smell like. This is seriously one of the most disgusting smells I have ever smelled 😭, it literally smells like alcohol that was spilled on moldy grass. I really can not imagine anyone wearing this without offending someone. I do NOT recommend

Shaina87

Memoire gives me cottagecore vibes. It reminds me of chamomile tea. I really enjoy this one during the spring. I imagine Ingrid, from Witches of Eastend, wearing this. It's unique and I can see how some might get the pencil shavings smell.. Especially at the initial spray of it. But once it dries down it's an herbal tea with chamomile. It's such a comforting scent. I don't have anything similar to it in my collection. Longevity isn't the best but I don't mind reapplying. I also really like the vintage-esque bottle.

catdealy

this smells like tea spilled on a long-sleeve and wet grass, the only good thing going for it is the pretty bottle

venussansfurs

A slightly bitter, rather nondescript skin scent. I get almond and chamomile at first, but after the notes start to blend it smells like mineral oil to me, and from reading the description above, it seems as if that may have been the intention. (I have an old Coty Sweet Earth Chamomile spray that is much more realistic as far as chamomile goes.) A bit chemical and more feminine.

Mutrike

It is weird how notes I usually dislike - camomile, almond and jasmine - really work here so well and combine the most beautiful and harmonious scent. It really is beautiful perfume which rises memories and creates well being. I`m thankful that it is not sweet or loud, too many perfumes these days are. This one is airy, pure art and magical! Medium sillage but killer longevity - 12+ hrs on my skin and clothes.

Edit. Just love it so so much!

Saffee

Blind buy for me based on the notes and reviews.
The price is very much ok for this Morillas wonder.
On me it projects very well and really long lasting.
This choice of mine is still a wonder since I dislike both sandalwood and chamomile :-) - but this scent is just super. Still looking for the adjectives to describe it. It seems to open in different ways every time I spritz it on.
The bottle is super elegant, wouldn't say retro. It is classically simplified in an elegant way.
It settles in such an indesribable way - and like the name, it tells you stories. Stories depending on who you are how you live through life; what precious memories you hold. It leads to the past, but would not say it is vintage. It is sophisticatedly elegant, way more on the feminine side. Middle to older ages, ladies who are confident and know what they re doing.
It is exactly how you view life.
The video is strange and shocking for me, all in all draws attention to think and creeps into mind.
Definitely worth a try and deserves a place on your front shelf.

LeXbox

Nice fresh scent, very herbal.Def need to smell before buying.

Laurus

I wanted to love it becuase I wanted to have that gorgeous retro bottle standing on my table but I did not buy untested luckily becuase I hate it. It smells like mens cologne on me. Sharp and manly in very green way. Definitely more on the masculine side. Most unisex fragrances smell too masculine on me Tom Ford Black Orchid being an exception.

thedana

I love this scent so much, it is so special. I just wish it performed better- it is very intimate with minimal projection and also not very long lasting on my skin.

Anna Pantherina

I declare it my meditation scent. Scorpio is my zodiac sign and it matches my inner nature perfectly. I usually reach for it when my introspection and mental monologues are active. I believe chamomile does its thing and calms my thoughts, and flowers, cedar and vanilla make them more productive.
Some say it's medical, metallic, has no longevity. The truth is, it's just an intimate, comfortable beauty. If you choose to be yours...

villiruusut

Not gonna lie - I mainly became interested in this perfume for its box and flacon. The perfume is a slow-burner and is very intimate. I was not impressed by its scent when I first tried it. It's herbal and astringent and remains very much so on blotting strips. However, it tells a different story on skin. Warmed up by body heat, white florals become more perceptible and the woody-vanillic base notes are revealed, but you really need to have the patience to wait for it to get there. The chamomile note is also pretty persistent throughout its evolution. I also catch whiffs of the mineral-esque scent of rain when not focusing my attention on the fragrance. If you're looking for a perfume to wow strangers, look elsewhere - this is probably more suited for moments of contemplation and reflection.

flicflac5

What an intriguing perfume this is. It is a bit astringent at first, as others have noted, but it settles down quickly for me into a wonderfully aromatic and herbal musk. I can get chamomile and sandalwood (and cedar if I really hunt for it) if I press my nose to my skin, but my scent cloud is more of an unidentifiable elegant freshness. There’s almost no sweetness for me until a few hours in, when the vanilla and almond come out and the jasmine is more prominent. Even then, it’s quite a gentle sweetness, and though the sharp greenish musk has softened by this point, it's still around and beautiful. For me, this stage lasts well into the next day, and on my first day wearing this fragrance, someone complimented me on my perfume a full 10 hours after I had sprayed it. I know this one is supposed to have longevity issues, but that just isn’t the case for me.

This perfume makes me feel expensive, confident, and soft all at once, like a lady CEO sipping chamomile tea and calling her mom from her immaculate corner office. And of course, the undeniably lovely bottle of Mémoire would look beautiful on her desk.

Lindsconn

What a lovely calming fragrance this is. So unique too with the most beautiful bottle! Although this is unisex I find it slightly more feminine leaning. It’s main notes are chamomile and musk, and it’s incredibly green but in a soft way.

For the type of fragrance it is I was pleasantly surprised and how long this lasts, it also projects well.

nosenotes2022

As I have gotten older, I have started using scent as a way to enhance my mood or set intentions in different aspects of my life. Like having a few keys pieces in your wardrobe, I think a lot of us have fragrances that set a tone for your day. This is what I wear when I am winding down from a long day and need to relax, or reach for whenever I am wanting to have a self-reflective moment. The camomile note in this fragrance is like when you first pour hot water onto a sleepy time tea bag, and combined with the overall mineral-y scent, makes me feel like I am in a seaside cabin by myself. Is this fragrance for everyone? No. Does it last very long? Also no. However, this fragrance envelopes you like a hot cup of tea and a cool quilt on a kind of day where you just need to take a moment for yourself. If you are looking for something familiar yet unexpected, or a fragrance that doesn’t really smell like a perfume, but rather a memory (hence the name I guess), give this a shot.

Ash212

I tried this perfume on a long day of trying perfumes and had 0% hope but I was pleasantly surprised. I kept smelling the strip and if I had to own another Gucci it would be this. Its fresh and clean but not too masculine and unique to my nose. I do smell the chamomile.

Trtmtn

I tried hard to 'coach' myself to appreciate this, given I'd blind bought a full bottle. I've worn this several times now and it's not quite happening for me. Faithful to its name, its herbal tea-like scent is subtle and remote and fades away in minutes on my skin, even with layering. It's literally the shadow of a skin scent you might have sprayed on 7-8 hours ago, but from the moment it touches your skin. If that was the goal, this fragrance is an accomplished one - otherwise l don't really get it

Did not think much of the initial spray. Almost couldn't smell it but could feel it in my nose, if that makes sense. I knew I was smelling something but the scent itself didn't register. After about 5 minutes it starts to develop into something soft, quiet and lotiony. Not a criticism, it is nice and I like it. Something that makes you smell pleasant instead of smelling like a particular flower or food. As if you washed with a light soap, without smelling soapy.
I don't know if i will buy a full bottle, especially since it is rather spendy for what it is. Gorgeous bottle though, so am adding to my want list for fun.

fragranceboy97

I have owned this perfume for about a year now and haven’t reached halfway. That’s not to say I dislike the smell, I rather love it.. however it’s not something I reach for ever and really don’t think it suits me. I absolutely adore the bottle so i’m happy to keep in my collection for the aesthetics. Forest fairy queen vibes.

Diamandis

Waxy like crayons.

Miss.Tara

Soft and relaxing with a toned down lotion-y aspect that I’ve noticed in Gucci Guilty Love. It’s barely noticeable when I was trying to smell my arm, but then I’d notice it when moving around. I can’t compare it to anything, or even really categorize it.

daphnemarie

A favourite bakery, the wind blowing through the grass in my grandmother’s backyard, the smell of old Merle Norman foundation as my mother prepares me for a ballet recital. Places I haven’t been yet.

This fragrance is transportive, gentle, and enduring. I put off getting a bottle for too long because I wasn’t sure if it was for me. It is for me. The camomile is soothing but also invigorating. Like sitting with a warm mug of tea or running through a field as the wind stirs the grass.

As for projection and endurance, this fragrance projects for a few hours and then sits close to the skin. I sprayed it 12 hours ago and I can still smell it. I think that’s part of the “memoire,” it’s just a whisper of a memory of a scent now.

I’m prematurely sad for when I use the last drop.

emilymonroe1

At first, it feels like a good chamomile tea with jasmine and then slowly it moves forward to a soft creamy vanilla fragrance which is balanced by the wood and gives it warmth, coziness and feels exactly like a memory.

hazieee

My first whiff at a Sephora store blew me away - this was one of the most unique scents, in a very pleasant way, I'd ever come across. Herbal, grassy and woody with a touch of chamomile. It was so memorable that I bought this without hesitation at the first sale I came across. Unfortunately it smells different on my skin - I do get the initial blast of chamomile and musk, which fades really quickly (within a half hour) to very light hints of barely sweet grassiness. Can't help but feel a little ripped off, as I expected a Gucci fragrance to have better sillage and longevity! Still an interesting scent, nonetheless...

I recently came across a review that suggested the name of the perfume (memory of an odour) might be in reference to how the scent leaves a faint trace, almost leaving you with a memory of the scent and I feel this is so apt (and makes me feel better about spending a bomb on something that doesn't last).

mirrorghost

at first i get chamomile with something almost rubbery, then about a minute later i get the almond, which is very realistic and less sweet than it often is in other perfumes, in my experience. then jasmine follows. this is a subtle, cool calming perfume. perfect for spring and so pretty. i have tried few chamomile perfumes-this one is a beauty. if you like cool herbal spring scents you may like this.

D1921

Herbal tea and beautiful Jasmine. Count me in. It’s comforting, relaxed, pretty, and luxurious. It took me a while to find it. If you like Jasmine, give it a chance.

Comicalcupcake

It's hard to decide whether this is going to make it to my buy list. On one hand, it's not a bad price for a bottle. I like the way it smells. It reminds me a little of something I had in the 2000s, and I'm not sure what. Cacharel Eau d'Eden, perhaps, or Kenzo Eau d'Eté? I haven't smelled either in a while so I can't recall. Memory of a scent indeed. A play on words because if I only do a couple sprays, it fades to a memory within an hour. I used up half the sample vial in a day. But the smell is quite pleasant.

I can't pick out a single note. Chamomile? Doesn't smell like the tea, but maybe the fresh flower, I wouldn't know. Almond? Not really. Nothing like Wanderlust, my favorite almond scent. But it's nice. It's a little mineral, a little herbal, a little vintage, and I still feel like when I look back on this review as I'm searching through my buy list, I haven't described it in a way that will help me remember. I'm not usually one for quiet scents, but I could see this one being just right to feel comfortable and presentable for when I'm tired or in a bad mood and not my usual outgoing self. I think I'm talking myself into buying.

Boo1974

ooooh.... what a surprise! The opening 30 seconds are not particularly pleasant, sharp, slightly synthetic and medicinal. Then it settles and suddenly you are wearing a soft skin scent that smells of old school suncream, but more as a mineral aromatic, faded after a day by the sea, the distant laughter of families walking back from the beach, the cooling sun on salty skin. The chamomille is slightly bitter, but the fragrance is all the better for it and the almond's presence, as they knock out any overpowering sweetness from the jasmine. The scent is very subtle and laid back. I love it. And I love the price point even more, it is affordable to have it as a body spray to reapply throughout the day, as on me the longevity isn't great.

IamdrinkingBeer

When you want to relax, spray this one. A fantastic chamomile tea-ish fragrance, gorgeous herbal fragrance for people who know what they want. In the sea of bubble gum, chocolate and other potential causes of diabetes, this stands out like a sore thumb. Thats why probably a lot of people don like it. Here, the beauty is in the subtle details. Morillas proves his genius once again with this.

ingeneuxo

-Opens fresh and citrusy. Summer in a bottle.
-The SA recommended I tried this on skin, but I couldn't as I tend to be allergic to designer perfumes (which I wear primarily on clothing)
-Dries down to a calming blend of vetiver + oakmoss.
-Overall: A refined gem. Might have to sample further. (-)

shewasgarbo

As many have mentioned below, Memoire is harsh - the chamomile opening is hardly of the light variety. With the musk and sandalwood, Memoire at the first blush smells quite medicinal; less of a perfume and more of a scent invoking hot summers and mosquito repellant. But give it time, and it will settle into a grassy, woody scent. I'm only getting sparse hints of the jasmines - they're there mostly to highlight the greeness off the chamomile.

murovian

This is tricky one. I felt like I wanted to add to my wardrobe something that would evoke me of Indian Summer. Well, Gucci seemed like a good stuff. Description and pyramid were promise of the fragrance one could whiff on a walk along fields of chamomiles and high grasses. However, the first opening and even several wearings considered quite a difference between idea and the real juice. It was sharp! A musky, rather feminine smell that did not sit well on skin. Like some wearers might have mentioned before, you just want to rub it off as soon as possible. Which I did. At first. But there is more to this story.

That being said, Mémoire needs you to allow it some time. Hate it, forget it and then, perhaps when your current collection of favs run out, try to take it out. I did and to my surprise it was different experience this time, in a positive way. You see, the less you apply, the better. I realized that my first attempts were about taking too much spritz and apply it evenly on both sides of body. Which I still do, but now even damping it a bit is enough.

Mémoire is strong, hence be careful with it. Do not put too much, especially if you want to achieve that unisex vibe, otherwise you gonna regret your choices.

But what about scent itself. The frag comes with a slightly metallic, mineral opening, which needs to be developed into warmth of herbals as fast as possible. The best way to do it is wear it in breezy weather, when the air is cooler and summer or fall days are balmy. Thanks to these conditions the scent will feel lighter and creamy.

Some compare it to hot chamomile tea. But rather than a tea it reminds of scented Kleenex or freshly dried bed sheets. There is musky, creamy core to the fragrance and it does not change for hours. Refreshing sensation is rather replaced with tranquilizing effect and it put its wearer into ease without any distraction.

And while I also like to mix frags, when it comes to blending, it is versatile both for winter and warmer seasons to be spiced up with peppery types of frags I did so with Prada Luna Rosa Ocean. For even lighter and herbacous smell, I blend it with Dior Homme Cologne. While musk is a key component, you won´t be deceived with either combination.

Do I like Mémoire? Depends. I do like it as a base and I am excited to give it many tries this season. Not much of a thrill, but the price is great. Opt for smaller volume, it should be enough for pretty long time.

Vellocet

The name is spot on. It really smells like a memory. A warm, nostalgic memory. Absolutely gorgeous!

jeannebelmondo

Was strongly recommended to me, and I'm surprised by how harsher it smells compared to the notes listed -- I think I was expecting some sort of sandalwood-y chamomile vanilla feeling from this one that really wasn't there at all.

Instead we have a pretty clinical and indolic jasmine, a very bitter almond, and a sort of lemony woodsy "Windex" feel. It's not cheap-smelling, just sharply bitter and chlorine-like, at least to my nose. A shame as I was ready to sing praises about it -- I adore the notes listed in other fragrances, the bottle design, Gucci's visual language, the beautiful outer packaging -- hell, even the shower gel in the gift set has a hefty brass cap that looks too beautiful to not be saved.

The dry down is more agreeable, with a masculine aromatic heavy on the cedar and some bitter chamomile stems, but to me, it resembles nothing of the warmth of an herbal chamomile tea, and is the olfactory equivalent of putting on men's aftershave and stuffing your mouth with Bitrex and leafy green chlorophyll.

Maybe my skin hates it, maybe I'm unlucky, but to me, this relies far too much on somber white florals and bitterness to be a refreshing scent. And I'm unwilling to stomach the opening just for a rather derivative dry down.

toraski

Perhaps it’s just my skin chemistry but I have tried this fragrance many times over the years and every time I smell nothing but dandelion. I’m hit with an overwhelming grassy sweetness which I very much dislike and even the dry down reminds me of sitting in grass as a child. Frankly it is just not my cup of tea unfortunately, the bottle is beautiful though!

AMMILLER

Cold, herbal, fresh, powdery, clean, I love it! There is a mintyness in the opening, the chamomile is the star. Best part? THERE IS 0 FRUIT!!

Edit: I've been wearing this pretty much every day. It's an easy reach. It's opening is deceptively cool, the dry down is so comforting. It smells like clean sheets and chamomile tea, its herbal but there is a hint of something powdery and skin like.

This is a surprisingly complex scent for a designer scent! Definitely FBW (I've already ordered mine) the longevity is good but the sillage is weak. I can smell it on myself for 4 to 5 hours but I dont think anyone else can after the first 30 min. This would be a great scent for someone working in health care, comforting, unisex, not to strong. Also good for a teacher.

It's also pretty unisex. I could see a man wearing this easily, but it's not "masculin."

Over all I love it. Not enough to knock off my favorite (EA Green Tea) but close. The price is just so good on EA green tea... Memoir is Gucci and your paying a Gucci price tag. This is still better smelling than some niche. It smells like niche.

This has been my favorite scent to use during this spring. It's herbal, green and airy - all done in a soft and gentle way. The chamomile is very present in the opening and a bit bitterish and sharp, just smells like chamomile tea, but then it mellows and unites with the other notes. For me this is easy to wear and not too overpowering. The airy quality is often done with watery / oceanic notes which frankly I don't care too much, here it is captured in another way. You are not by a seaside but by a meadow. This is calming, pleasant and grounding. If there was a scent for introverts, it would be this.

The bottle itself is beautifully done too. So simple and ageless.

Sn0wRose

This is exactly what I would imagine a woodling fairy/elf would smell like. It’s not beautiful like a fairy but earthy like an elf that lives in the thickest of forests. Quite strong too at least on my skin.

Definitely herbal so if you don’t like that type of scents this won’t be for you. Also definitely unisex in my opinion. I would actually love to smell this on a man. For me personally this isn’t a love but I do like it for some special occasions. It almost smells too fantasy like for me to be able to wear it.

I don’t think I’ll buy a full bottle at least for now but I do like having the 10ml for when I feel like reaching for this.

Shmooksey

Oh what a beauty! I love it, I love it, I love it. From reading the notes months ago to smelling it today, I knew it was meant to be. It is exactly what I love in a fragrance, but there is complexity added through the woods, it isn't just straight water and green. I love the herbacious element. I loved it immediately, there is nothing wrong with this perfume in my opinion, however, it is very similar to my CK One (signature) so I do not need it right now, I would rather buy a winter signature before expanding into a collector.

recognitionscene

smells like becherovka and tea in the best way. v mineral and is kind of what i wish glossier you smelled like, bc i love this and hated glossier you… wet herbal beverage fragrance

Selfscentred

Mineral minimalism. A truly polarising scent and I understand why. It's an easy scent, but not easily wearable. Personally, I love Memoire for its tranquility, its herbal qualities and its poetic rendition of the late summers in my childhood. Golden honey-coloured hay stacks in the hazy sepia shade of late august or early september. Suppose it’ll get discontinued sooner or later. I hope it’s later.

“Memory of a smell.” It actually does remind me of something, but it’s so distant I can’t name it… preschool? An institutional air freshener? It’s not bad, but has a sterile feel I’m not a fan of, kind of like Chanel No. 19. This is slightly warmer and sweeter with the chamomile, but lacks the floral character you'd expect from jasmine. This would really work for a quieter person, or a fan of musk perfumes, as it lacks the bracing freshness and camphor that attracts me to the "green" genre and pure white florals. The overall fragrance is very weak and nondescript, and soapy enough that people around you may not realize it’s a perfume.

Memoire... it's so spot on. To me this smells so similar to my mom's old signature fragrance - Calvin Klein Contradiction. Like a sparkling wood, tiny white florals, a musky but delicate sweetness. A pillow that you lay on at night and feel the ultimate comfort. Definitely for the more bohemian type.

i believe there is a pink version but i cudnt find ut anywhere! Help.. any link or exact name of the version would help 😔

I smell almonds, (not sweet, not bitter, something in the middle) pharmaceutical camomile and strong cedar. I love this perfume, it is so calming, soothing. It doesn't cause any nostalgia/memories for me as the name would suggest. This isn't a date night or going out fragrance, it is more of a 'me time' fragrance or casual walk, or when you need to go somewhere where a strong perfume is inappropriate (hospital appointment?).
The only downside is that projection and longevity are 0.

The girls that get it get it, and the girls that don’t don’t.
This perfume has a special place in my heart because my mum and dad gifted it to me for my 18th birthday, so it kinda makes me sad that this perfume gets so much hate. All my friends who are into perfumes hate this fragrance but I can see how it’s not for everyone. But if you want to feel like a woodland nymph or a fairy then you’ll probably love this perfume. It’s so unique and honestly smells like a mossy forest clearing with daisies.

From the moment I first smelled this, out of curiosity, I was struck by an odd feeling of awe and confusion.

How is it that a perfume that smells so fragile and airy manages to hit me as deeply as I always hoped a perfume would hit me? I fear I don't really want to answer that question, for that feeling of awe still lives on. I bought a bottle for myself months later but never really got to use it. I'm curious about the world of perfumery, but not the point where I spend a lot of time nor invest a lot in it. I own just this one perfume, ADG Profumo and Profondo.

For the past month, I've been spraying this on me every time I go out by myself, mainly when I go to concerts. This thing really doesn't last that long and it projects mildly. But wow. It just gets a hold of me.

Simply put, it is the best smelling fragrance I've ever encountered. Its floral spirit is anchored by the almond notes (this is what I mainly get). It is a fragrance that really has the potential, for many, to merely be just another fragrance which lacks personality. But to me, it's poetic beauty captured in a bottle.

Highly recommend everyone to, at the very least, try it.

I like to dab this on with Delina for a very whimsical scent. Memoire reminds me of an herbal tincture that goes underneath the tongue and Delina is sweet enough to make it enjoyable (at least on my skin).

Fruzsina Szel

Very weak, you can barely smell it after half an hour. Ridiculous at this pricepoint..

Bombalurina

I feel like I may be partially anosmic to this, I do detect chamomile and maybe a bit of musk and sandalwood. It's very fleeting but what I can smell is nice

Johan Sweden

This is awful on my skin🤢🤮 smells like puke when mixed with sweat.

gloriavd

i own two bottles of this. perfectly green and aromatic without being too fresh or “cologne-like”. sexy and perfect for anyone and any occasion, summer winter night day you name it! not sure what exactly they put in there but my brain is obsessed with this scent. cannot stop smelling it, very addictive.

looraw

A delicate chamomile blossom tea in a fragile, translucent teacup. I can see an association with uncanny fairy tales and forest nymphs. There’s something simultaneously quaint and disturbing about this one.

A Little Perfume

I so wanted to love this one.

Chamomile holds a very special place in my childhood memories, because the Italian side of my family always drank chamomile tea. I find the scent and taste of it so soothing.

Unfortunately on my skin the opening of this scent is extremely bitter and bracing, it's like my skin amplifies the herbaceous nature of the chamomile but to an unbearable degree. After the opening settles, this scent is a soft musky woody scent with the barest touch of jasmine. All in all, this was a miss for me. Such a shame, the bottle is magnificent.

chakukan

The chamomile is too strong and throws it off balance. I also detect some lily of the valley and some church incense even while not listed.
A mess not blended well and sooooo overwhelmingly overpriced. This should not be a blind purchase and needs to be tested on the skin before buying.

joetallent7890

just vile. so unwearable

I am a Morillas fan and I have been loving all of his creations I tried till now. I feel I will need more time to enjoy this one as it surprisingly wasn’t love at first sniff. It’s described as a Mineral perfume and when I sniff it, I somehow see an image of grey stones washed out by a fresh stream, a stream of clear water that runs through a pine trees forest with the soil covered in musk. I feel a balsamic note in it, a note that reminds me of eucalyptus. It’s uniquely ethereal and not at all straightforward, it’s a bit of an olfattive mystery to me. The box and packaging seem to be coming out from the 1920s, I can see them displayed on a mirrored vanity, together with a box of rouge and a boar bristle hair brush. Note that this is an EDP that behaves like an EDT with no longevity, so it’s hard for me to truly enjoy it and to understand how the notes evolve. I will give it time, to see to what journey it will bring me.

seliko

beautiful bottle, carries history too. unfortunately the scent just doesn't work with my skin's chemistry. the unique chamomile note ends up turning "rotten" on my skin. love the idea in theory though, very romantic... i still want a 60ml size as a collector's piece, hopefully one day...

peergynt

Interestingly, while everyone was complaining about it going away in an hour, it lingered on my skin for a full 10 hours (I am kinda in shock because generally, even the perfumes that everyone praises on longetivity, i cannot get performance that much). but after one hour lost its sillage. I am still very happy to put my nose on my wrist and inhale this non-offensive, clean, fresh and soothing scent.
It is really nice blended, smells natural.
i wish it had a better projection but it is really a special scent that i like to have.
I do not know why but i was despising gucci as a fragrance house but now i am more curious about their olfactory collection since i like this one that much in spite of its low rating
