Champs Elysees Eau de Toilette by Guerlain is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Champs Elysees Eau de Toilette was launched in 1996. Champs Elysees Eau de Toilette was created by Jacques Guerlain, Jean-Paul Guerlain and Olivier Cresp. Top notes are Melon, Peach, Almond, Violet, Black Currant and Anise; middle notes are Mimosa, Lilac, Lily-of-the-Valley, Peony, Rose, Almond Blossom and Hibiscus; base notes are Vanilla, Almond Tree, Sandalwood, Benzoin and Cedar.

Delicate fruity-floral fragrance. Mimosa, rose, almond, and forest fruits are followed by melon and exotic fruits. It is a day-time perfume. It was first created by Jacques Guerlain in 1904, but the contemporary Champs Elysées has nothing common with the first fragrance but the name. Still it is also a beautiful fragrance. The new Champs Elysées was launched in 1996.

Guerlain Champs Elysees (1996) - mimosa blossoms - If you are looking for a fragrance makes Mimosa as its focus, look no further with this #jeanpaulguerlain creation. Blackcurrant buds, powdery and honeyed Mimosa, Rose are complimented with Almond blossoms creating this ethereal yet intense bouquet. A mimosa perfume that transitions between fresh, dewy, powdery to animalic as the day progresses.

Very lucky to own a vintage bottle, my packaging is pre-barcode, it's wonderful, an eau de toilette that really lasts 24 hours, it looks like an eau de parfum, but let's get to the perfume, for me it's not powdery at all, it's fruity, not sparkling at all or sweet at least for what is its opening, I feel it fresh clean, afterwards it gives off a comfortable slightly sweet smell I smell a slightly almondy smell mixed with flowers yes Poudree ' but I assure you that I don't have the perception of a powdery smell at all (I I hate this kind of olfactory family) its projection is masterful and powerful, very long lasting but being a non-reformulated perfume it is certainly due to this! Perfect for spring in my opinion, but I also wear it wonderfully now that it's December

TDSollog

I picked up a vintage bottle at an estate sale summer 2023 along with other vintage fragrances.
All I get from it is a floral “bomb”…. Lilac, Lily of the valley, mimosa, rose…. If you like traditional “garden party” perfumes, then you would like this. I know that was created in the 90s, but it gives me “late 50s/ early 60s traditional wife” vibes.

The EDT of this perfume is delicious and beautiful! The EDP is far too sweet and loud so I prefer this softer subtler quiet lovely scent. I got it for free as a gift from a girlfriend who had gone to the Guerlain store in Paris France. The first spritz is a sweet fruity melange of peach, currant and anise. Comes through as fruity with a touch of spice, like a soft cinnamon or a fruit cake. I like currant and peach notes so to me the opening is wonderful. Most fruity floral fragrances start off with citrus so for this citrus free opening to start off with mainly anise and currant is a refreshing change. The peach is not very big. The floral heart is mostly mimosa and violet, and way in the background some white floral notes of lily of the valley and white rose. The florals are sweet and powdery. Because of the violet, there is a powdery cosmetic air like a retro talc powder in a boudoir. Feminine and classy. The florals are like a gauze like a little cloud of floral scents in purple pink white and yellow color specs. The richness of the florals eventually subsides and at the dry stage I am picking up on almonds or almond tree with another woody note the cedar wood. There is possibly amber and a touch of soft musk. There is also vanilla. The perfume is romantic and feels like you have to wear her for dress-up formal affairs, fancy restaurants and or romantic cruises. The aroma is not long lasting I guess because it is a toilette. On me it lasts no more than 3 to 4 hours but I don't mind. The scent is intimate and sits close to the skin and does not radiate very much. If you like fruity florals, powdery florals, slightly spicy florals and vanilla, this perfume does the trick. It reminds me of a kind of fragrance version of Parisian macarons. It evokes the image of a pretty French girl having cookies and macarons and sweets and feels like walking out on an open air market in Paris with a bunch of flowers with their floral scents wafting in the air. It's great for spring and summer. I can't tell you how much I like Champs Elysees.

I love this perfume. Not the reformulation but the original 90s version which I think is this one after seeing the notes listed above and the bottle. It's floral but also a bit woody. Overall so feminine and carefree. Unfortunately the original bottles sell on ebay for extortionate prices but it's worth it in my opinion as this fragrance is so nostalgic for me. It isn't my signature scent or even within my usual preferences but I repurchase just for the memories I have associated with it as it's so intoxicating and memorable. It doesn't last too long on skin since it's an eau de toilette but I find it lasts a reasonable amount of time on clothes.

Yogamomny17

At first spray I get a very peach and mimosa forward fragrance but this combination translates to my nose as honey!! I’m not sure if that was what the intention was but to my nose it’s definitely giving me a sweet honey vibe.

This is just very classy and uplifting and reminds me of a happy and well put together woman. I have the vintage formula.

As the fragrance develops, I get that strong honey note with beautiful white florals that blend very well and I do get the essence of the anise throughout.

I think because the almond is in this is tree/leaf, I don’t really get a nutty vibe, I do get a very slight green note that is probably supposed to stand in for the almond leaf/tree. It’s very subtle and I think it’s just to add a bit of freshness to help with the rounding out. The peach/mimosa (honey) vibe remains throughout.

The dry down on me brings out more of the powdery notes but it’s not a dusty powder. It’s more of a sparkling powder if that even makes sense.

it’s overall giving a very prim but not prude vibe. This is a woman who knows how to have fun and doesn’t take herself to seriously, but who will not be trifled with. She can be carefree when it suits her but all business when necessary.

I love it as a winter floral because it stands up so well to the colder weather. It is something I could see wearing to a job interview, brunch or to church.

Just a classic well rounded “everyday” floral good for spring because of the notes but again, equally suited for winter because it is strong enough to hold up to the cold.

The vintage is strong enough that you only need a couple dabs to perfume yourself all day and to be smelled by others. Less is more with this one.

Sweetandlightgal

One of my all time favorites. I got this as a teenager when my boyfriend worked the fragrance counter of our local department store. I picked it because it was so beautiful and sweet, but I didn't really wear it much back then. I felt sharper scents like Prescriptives Calyx suited my personality better. But Champs Elysees always held a place on my vanity for days I wanted to feel pretty. Not fierce or assertive, but just soft and feminine. I had forgotten about it until a lady walked through my office and I recognized the scent immediately. I dug out my 20 year old bottle and it was just as beautiful as it had always been. Now in my 40s, I can really appreciate this amazing concoction. It's very well blended, but mimosa stands out to me, as well as sweet fruit. The scent changes throughout the day and what remains on hair and clothing is different, but just as lovely as when first sprayed. And it lasts forever. One spray is enough to enjoy the entire day and beyond. I ordered a vintage bottle as a backup now that the fragrance has been reformulated. I never want to be without this. It's a masterpiece.

Kowhai

I keep going back to this fragrance. It is just beautiful and radiates femininity. I have 4 back up bottles of the original as it is now discontinued. Have not purchased the new version yet.

Perfumedsecrets

My signature scent. I have a big vintage bottle left. This scent is everything I love wrapped up in memories. A warm hug, mimosa bouquet, and precious moments.

Holliebobollie

Beautiful shampoo scent!

lemmenkukka

I have owned this for 20 years and for the first time I met this at my son's kindergarten where his teacher used to wear it. I found it very, very fresh and warmly floral with a hint of vanilla. This is all time all place fragrance, where ever you go you can trust it. Quite subtle, sophisticated, warm and serene, though also uplifting and energising multitalent!

Lila Maria

This is spring in a bottle! A divine creation by Jacques and Jean-Paul Guerlain. Smells like a bouquet of fresh flowers, classic, fresh, light. I love it for spring and early summer and get lots of compliments.

Kharmynn

Mine is a vintage bottle I bought a few years ago, tried a handful of times, and then pushed to the back of the closet. Maybe I needed time to appreciate it.
I decided to try it today and this is pretty sweet in a flowery sort of way.
It smells of yellow flowers, maybe a bit of melon, and though it's not listed as part of the scent, I'm getting a lot of Ylang ylang🤷♀️.

I saw a reviewer below mention it has a plasticy smell, and it really does, but it's more of a Barbie doll head type. That sweet and distinct rubber toy doll.

Looking at the notes there's a lot that I'm not able to pick out, but maybe that just means it's well blended.
I'd say this is a like for me. I won't wear it all the time, but now that I've rediscovered it, will enjoy it when the mood strikes.

Perifanos

It's pretty but also pretty boring. It reminds me of a generic 90s upper-middle class white mom during springtime. It's a bright floral with a lotion-y vibe to it; good raw materials obviously because it's Guerlain but I just find the artistic direction for this one quite uninspiring.

If I had to describe it with an image, it would be Linda Evangelista in this editorial:

i.imgur.com/numBg24.jpeg

And I love la Linda but that editorial, even if aesthetically pleasant, is anything but exciting or inspiring. Just like this perfume.

*loves_shoes*

I bought a full bottle of this in the 90s, and then never used it as I preferred fresher aquatic scents back then (Aqua di gio, wings, ocean Dreams to name a few) I then went on to love others, and kind of forgot about this.
Revisiting it now that I’m much older makes me realise what a gem it is. It’s so strong, fruity and very floral, really lovely. Yes it smells slightly old fashioned, but I’ve smelled something similar recently (the florals in Pure Musc for Her), so it’s not outdated.

Ivy Oak

This perfume radiates the feeling of a cold, freshly poured glass of champagne for me. Mind you, I don’t say Champs Elysées smells like champagne, but it has the same classy, airy, bubbly, joyful and high quality vibe: an epitome of elegance. Fresh and uplifting, with floral fruity hints, but with an original approach nevertheless. I find the Eau de Toilette surprisingly potent and long lasting for my sparely used two dabs. Champs Elysées is present, without becoming too much. It’s the life of a party, without dramatically drawing your attention.
It sometimes leans towards the border of soapy, but manages just not to cross it. I think this is the work of the Sandalwood, which is the most recognizable note in the dry down for me, but it’s still fresh and doesn’t become powdery.

I find this beautifully made and incredibly chic. It just doesn’t fit my personality that much: I’m not the tasteful, refined, elegant type of person. This could have contested to be my bridal perfume though, if it had already been in my collection then. I’ll gladly use my miniature once in a while, and cherish it like the classic beauty it is. It deserves to be celebrated this way.

Zethre

Similar sort of feel to Amarige, but a little plastic-y.

Arielrose

Wow this perfume immediately takes me back to the 90s! I wore this as a teenager when it was first released & it was my first big ‘luxury’ perfume love. It’s funny to see reviews talking about how cheerful, springy or light this fragrance is - because for me it went well with my moody, gothic style. The Portishead music in the original ads with Sophie Marceau not taking crap from her date was perfect! I wore this scent for years so it was definitely my signature through the late 90s. I always get compliments when I wear it and to this day I’ve never smelled anything quite like it. Not a typical floral or fruity floral. The cassis is strong on me which I’ve always loved. I think it just suits my chemistry. Been hearing this is discontinued which really makes me sad - I don’t wear it as much as I used to, but it’s one I always have in rotation. Plus it always takes me back to a time if life that was really special!

stephdray

The scent is remarkably fleeting for a perfume named after such a vibrant and enduring place, and from such an iconic house as Guerlain. But unlike Apres L'Ondee, which, for all its unique beauty, is also upsettingly fleeting, Champs Elysees is surprisingly linear. I didn't think it was possible for a perfume to be too well-blended, but this might be it. It's an almondy rice-pudding smoothie. Pleasant, feminine, inoffensive. I suspect the vintage would have been more to my liking.

cassiesta

This is very meh for me. The notes are too well blended where I can't pick out individual notes, granted I'm pretty new on my journey learning about perfumery and learning to pick out notes. What I can pick out is what I think is mimosa. I think it's what's most prominent to my nose. The scent of this reminds me of rice. I can smell the Guerlain DNA which is also in Insolence EDT and EDP and Terracotta. I tested out Happy Splash from Clinique again recently and it reminded me of this a lot, and more and more as it wore. Glad I only bought a travel spray. Not what I expected from a perfume with such a name.

venussansfurs

This version is by Olivier Cresp, whose formula was chosen over Jean-Paul Guerlain's by LVMH after they acquired the brand, and was panned all over when it came out. It's very sweet but I think it still smells essentially like a Guerlain. It's mostly melon and mimosa on me with a touch of peach. I can only handle it in EDT, anything stronger would be toothache-inducing. Good for June weddings and sipping mimosas on patios in summer.

AtelierLicorice

On first spray from my vintage bottle CE is sharp with aldehydes, like vinegar-y green rubbing alcohol. This fortunately fades after about 10 minutes, but since the projection of this fragrance is reasonably strong for the first hour I make sure I’m well away from other people when spritzing.

I don’t get the black currant, and the peach and melon aren’t sweet—it’s fuzzy peach skin, not the juicy flesh, and the melon borders on cucumber. This isn’t a sweet fragrance overall. It’s light but full, a springtime scent that’s almost a photorealistic impression of being in a sunny, lush garden on a hot spring day. I don’t know enough about yellow floral fragrances to know whether this is a typical representative of the category, but it certainly isn’t a white floral or green, though it has some green notes. I generally have a hard time with fragrances that aren’t sweet, but CE has charm, perhaps because it’s so transportive.

It sits close to my skin after 2.5 hours, but there’s still surprising sillage. The drydown introduces a little bit of powder, and the sandalwood and benzoin ground the florals. I wish I got the vanilla, because it would be lovely with these notes, but there’s not a trace.
After 5 hours, it’s undetectable unless I put my nose directly on my skin and I understand all of the comments about bar soap. Pleasant, but decidedly vintage.

theuntrainednose

I own part of a sample.

---

This was nothing of what I was expecting.

It was with some trepidation that I tried this scent, as the notes contain one of my nemesis: melon. I love melon in real life, and the scent of melon, but for some reason the notes used in perfumery as cucumber or melon usually go weirdly nauseating on me. On the other hand, I was intrigued. A mix containing almond, blackberries and melon? Now that's unusual!

As worn, the fragrance is nothing like I imagined by reading the notes. I imagined a powdery almond concoction with wafts of the other notes.

Instead, it's a light, soapy white floral with an airy quality, transparent and fresh, almost watery. Well done and pretty, with a lovely classic "girl in a spring dress" vibe. The almond-y notes and the fruity notes are too distant (or the y lost their strength with time) to be in front, you have to sniff carefully to get the hints of those.

It's pretty, and I could wear it, but ... in this family of scents I have others that bring more to the table, for me. I have CH 212 with its weird juicy artificial cactus note, which I enjoy a lot and brings interest, I have Pure Poison with its beautifully blended class, and of course I have several heavier white florals which are not airy and transparent. This is nice, pretty, but, for me, forgettable. I expect more from a white floral. Maybe I am not the target audience.

mhobol

Opens with bar soap, dries down a swan.

I'm having a blast!

aspirina

Why are you so pretty? How is it that I have ignored you for so long? I have been looking for someone like you...in my dreams... Champs Elysees EDT is a beautiful lilac/mimosa scent with fresh fruity accords and very soft benzoin/ resins. Spring in a bottle, soft, feminine, innocent and charming, probably a good wedding day scent. Projection is soft to moderate.

StinkyTinky

This is so pleasant and comforting! To my nose this is a creamy smelling high pitched floral, that smells airy and dense all at the same time. Similar scent to my L’Occitane rich face cream. It somehow balances soft but consuming. I can’t help but dig my face into the crook of my arm to steal smells all through out the day..
I wear this year round, but enjoy it most in the spring or in contrast the coldest of days.
I don’t think I would have appreciated this when I was in my 20’s before my collection grew. But now, it truly is like a hug. And I can’t say that about any of my other fragrances. Champs Elysees is special..

EllaDe7

Champs Elysees will always be my favorite. I own it and wear it continuously. I feel that the other scents I wear are just an in between Champs Elysees. Guerlain is special, in a class of its own. Champs Elysees is a classic feminine, light floral. The perfume is more fruity than the EDT.

UnearthlyApothecary

I have written an ode to this beautiful underrated perfume on the EDP page, basically, it’s the most beautiful fruity floral of all time. A magical lilac/mimosa spring dream of a scent. My current bottle is this EDT from 2001 it was obviously made before it was ruined by the current mass reformulation (if it’s in a bee bottle, hard pass) it has fantastic silage I am glad to know that I will still be able to spend my days floating in a soft fluffy cloud of Champs Elysees. Really the only difference between this and the EDP to my nose ( and remember I’m comparing vintage bottles) is that I notice the fruit a bit more. I absolutely loathe the overpowering overripe melon notes of the 90’s but believe me, this isn’t a discount store bottle of Volupte we are talking about... this is Champs Elysees, the fruit is done tastefully and added with a lighter hand. After awhile the underlying fruit notes all kind of blend together into this clean kind of apple shampoo vibe. If you have never tried this one, please give it a chance, it’s a hidden gem waiting to be rediscovered. For me, Champs Elysees is a feel good, pick me up, sunshine in a bottle type scent and this year especially we need all of that we can get

tandem_4x4

I got a vintage EDT yesterday. It is very soft all type of flowers. Very tender and very "good young woman ready to marry". I tried the modern formulation in the shop and it is much harsher. It still keeps the idea, but it is like the same melody played by the flute (vintage) or by trumpet (new). If you can find vintage, go for it.

Liene

Relaunch (1996) of Champs Elysees is very floral with no particular color (really you get it all - lilac, yellow and white florals), some powder, some sweetness and some fruit. I find it very feminine, romantic and, well... dated. Too naive, too submissive "good-girl-to-good-wife" without backbone and character. Perfect fragrance for a lady who does not stand up for herself. I hope I am wrong!
Extremely pleasant and nicely blended, though. I just cannot redefine and deconstruct the vibe Champs Elysees gives for current day. To datedness also serves the 90s top flowers for soapbars: lilacs and muguet. Very nostalgic and pretty.

Opening is lilacs only, then mimosa comes through very quickly. Whiffs of mimosa come and go through all the performance giving the powdery nuances. Then it settles to dominant lily-of-the-valley and some fruity notes. It gets almost sweet fruit wine like - definitely melon and peach, but in very 90s execution. Also the almond theme plays through, mostly the almond itself - a tad nutty with oily richness grounding the airy florals somehow. Slightly soapy and soft lotion like. It continues rather linear with performance up to nine hours. The sillage is strong, especially for such a flowery perfume, where there is no white flower sillage monsters (e. g., tuberose, jasmine). Suited for transitional weather to and from summer, but there are better scents for that. And there, surely, are better and timeless Guerlain offerings, as well.

RaeGoLightly

I accidentally got the EDT. My skin sallows them up and fades it fast...but this, two hours I. And still distinctive. It’s like spring flowers. I’m hoping for more of the almond and warmth, but this may be my fault as I had perfume n from five hours ago. It’s starting to peak through. One of my dogs seems to like it though. He’s followed me around and is now cuddling into my arm where I sprayed.

I need to test this by itself without my lotion and other scents. I am getting the feel of Estee but just the feel. I can see this being a behind the knees spray playing with Chanel Allure on my upper body though. It is so far very pretty.

nellyrlight

I really hate it when the original formulation changes and you have a completely different scent under the same name. Most Guerlain perfumes have changed now..I try to get the vintage ones but not all of them are out there:-( I kick myself that I did not keep an old bottle of Samsara or Champs Elysees..or Insolence..I have a large collection and am not an expert on detecting notes but all of the three I mention here had incredible longevity on my skin..Bought a new version of Samsara and Insolence and was so disappointed. Don’t even try if you love the originals.

Mbrock

This is very pretty. At first I get more lilac. After a few minutes more mimosa comes out and it reminds me of a cool spring day. My favorites usually a have jasmine, orange blossom or magnolia as the star but this is a very nice change. I only get a little of the LOTV and the peach, for me it far more floral than fruity.I think you could wear this daily for most everything. Its inoffensive but still lovely and unique.

Emjokuh

At first all I could smell was bar soap!!! BUT after I spent some time with her, she's fresh and elegant and joyous and energetic. Even as an EDT she is easy to overspray. But the soap smell has been difficult for me. Hopefully I will get over it. I don't see a lot of other people saying this. Once my brain picks a synonyms scent it's very difficult to shrug off. But like I said, pleasant, I wouldn't say sweet, but bright and high, floral, bright eyed and bushy tailed.

bel.gravia

I believe Champs Elysees has been reformulated. I think as Guerlain introduced the perfumes in the bee bottle, most of them have been reformulated due to strict IFRA rules.
The newest version of Champs Elysees is unmistakably for the day use, light and fruity floral. The duo of lilac and mimosa is quite unique, quite cheerful. Champs Elysees is a tender and comforting scent. It has just a hint of fruits, mostly peach - and thank goodness! - I love peach. The peach note (so prominent and delicious in Gucci Rush and Chanel Allure EDP) helps Champs Elysees, it makes it rounded, softer, a more finished composition. I own the EDT concentration and this fragrance is VERY light. It is romantic, and I appreciate that it is one of the older Guerlain scents. I am definitely keeping the bottle.

bodnerrachel

Truly GORGEOUS! A compliment magnet if I ever saw one. The mimosa-melon-almond combination layered over the florals and sandalwood is pure Guerlain. Utterly stunning. I have both the EDT and the EDP and I love them both. You can wear them separately or layered over each other. Keep one at work; one at home. The fragrance lifts you up to the stratosphere. A simple day can be magical with Champs-Elysees.😍💝🌺🌷🌹🍑

Mc1995

Hmm pretty, florals and fruity. However this has got to be one of Guerlain’s weakest fragrances. It needs more almond! Quite generic. Almost an annoying vibe to it. It projects pretty strong and lingers

MadamNijinsky

I smelled flowers in the sample bottle, but it was also slightly antiseptic. Once I put it on my skin however, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a little more waxy/soapy than I’d prefer, but like everyone else said, it’s very pretty. Springtime in a bottle.

DT953

Champs Elysees I've owned 6 or so bottles of in varying concentrations. Sold many, overlooked more. I'm not sure why... It's a perfectly luxurious and 'pretty' scent. Mimosa is indeed the star player. Lilacs, which I have smelt, don't seem to be prominenthere at all. So, while they may be for some, they mightn't be for all. Keep that in mind. Never been to Paris. Guerlain always brings me there and this is no exception. Wonderful, gorgeous. Have owned the EdT, EdP and Extrait. All are fabulous. Longevity lacks in modern bottles, though.

Liek

Resembles True Love of Elizabeth Arden.

Snowflake_007

Like a soft, light blanket, I feel the comfort of this scent surrounding me as we currently enter Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. Whilst comforting, there is something light and playful in this fragrance that truly makes on optimistic about the day ahead.

Dreams of a crisp Spring morning, turning into a beautiful sunny day.. Visions of picnics in the park, snacking on fruit while being enveloped in a hug of soft floral whispers. The essence of a perfect day, captured in a bottle.

guerlygirl1

A vivacious, sweet and fruity floral! Not a quiet or shy perfume. Two or three sprays and this lovely scent generously surrounds you for many hours as you wear it and leaves a scent trail behind you. Full disclosure: I discovered this wonderful perfume at a Guerlain boutique while on Honeymoon and have loved it for the past 19 years! I have branched out and now wear other Guerlain fragrances as well. I think many Guerlain scents have a depth to them that other fragrances from other houses seem to be missing. To me, there is a rich, underlying facet in the middle of them that seems to weave the notes together and give them life.

meliecat

Such an effortlessly pretty scent! To me it is the similar vibe as So De La Renta - although the two are different as they are, yet have the similar effect. This one is mainly mimosa, and a bit of lilac on the side, subtle, light, yet sweet and pretty, I get bits of fruit as it dries down and almond too, but it still remains mainly a mimosa scent. Not much greenness or powderiness going on my skin, it is more of a fresh and subtle yet pretty and feminine perfume. I think it is timeless and suits spring and summer months the most, sillage and longevity I`d say moderate, but you do get wafts of it here and there, I spray generously anyway (it is an eau de toilette after all..) If you like mimosa and lilac, you`ll like this one and you`ll definitely keep it in your perfume wardrobe for ever. Love.

dlilla

This scent is so incredibly pretty. I get the loveliest burst of lightly powdered lilacs. I don't know how they did it because the powder is dewy at the same time. I must be in a minority because I just didn't get mimosa; for me it was all about the lilacs. And it's one of the best lilac scents I have ever smelled. Lilacs are difficult to get right, but this is so fresh and realistic, not synthetic at all.

I know this will sound odd and I hope it doesn't put anyone off from trying it, but after that first burst it starts to border on bug spray for me. I don't know what note is doing that, or maybe what combination, but it's there for me. It's the prettiest, most floral, romantic bug spray I've ever smelled though!! I wasn't put off by it at all, it was just curious and I kept having to smell it, because I only wish bug spray smelled so amazing.

I have to admit I am a little let down in the dry down. It must be a problem with my nose, or my chemistry, but a large number of fantastically beautiful perfumes all dry down the same to me. They lose their character and their individuality and just become generically "perfumey". This one is, very sadly, in that boat. I have Annick Goutal's Le Chevrefeuille in my other elbow; I had put it on hours before CE and it's still going strong while CE has already died down to a mere "perfumey" smell. So that's a little sad. I'd reach for this a lot if that burst of lilac lasted.

This is such a gorgeous scent, you just have to try it! I can't even begin to tell you what it smells like so I won't because I wouldn't get it right. All I can say about Champs Elysees is that it's Spring in a bottle and is one amazing perfume that's a must smell! I want to wear it out and wear it to bed. It's definitely a bedtime fragrance as well. I love to spray my cold sheets, jump in and snuggle down. The only problem I'm having with this fragrance is I get a little frustrated when I spray it. I can't decide how I want to spray myself with it. I want to drown myself in this beautiful stuff but if I spray it all over me, I lose the smell but everyone else can smell me. If I spray just my wrist and forearms I can get lost in the smell forever. I can't get enough and will be searching out backup bottles forsure. I never want to be without it in my collection.

WildDove

Champs Elysees is a lush, warm floral. It's so well-blended that no particular notes stand out for me. It can come across as sharp and chemical at first. In general I find it hard to wear. However I can use Champs Elysees as a whoosh of spray down the leg in summer, which produces a beautiful warm floral sillage as it unfolds.

kati77

I had a few approaches with this one to really gets it beauty. Maybe its the time of the year, early spring is best to try Champs Elysees. Elegant scent without distance, flowers and sublte powdery notes mixed, some greenness and warm peach fruit. I really like it, its developing to rather close to skin scent after so time but for me not a problem.
I recommend it at this time of the year.

Unless it's purely a body-chemistry clash, I don't know how anyone could hate this fragrance. Sure, if it's not for every day, all situations, or every mood, but this scent is like joy in a bottle.

Perhaps it's the general hatred for anything fruity and bright, since the fragrance world is overloaded with so many overly bright, fruity florals now? I was around for the launch and at the time there was a lot of worry about what the future held, but also still a good dose of hope. In recent years, some days do feel like a dystopian sci-fi novel. Perhaps humanity is currently unable to feel such hope? Or perhaps those people find a thrill in proclaiming all things passe? Ah well don't mind that and let this bottle of joy lift you up.

On my skin, fruity notes rarely smell very fruity beyond the first few minutes. Instead, they tend to brighten all the notes in the mix and that is the case here, with the floral notes turned up to volume 6 instead of 3 even though I'm wearing the EDT. It reminds me of my parents bringing fresh-cut flowers from the garden into the house at the peak of the season--somewhere between spring and summer where we lived. When the breeze blew just so, you'd be greeted by a tickle of vibrant florals, dancing to you from a room away.

If this scent were a person, it would be a calm and grounded person with a twinkle in their eyes and a sincere, easy smile. Here, fashion matters less than feeling, so it is any person you love who loves you in equal measure, so that your own eyes twinkle back. This is for all ages and all people who can experience joy and love. And yes, I have smelled this on secure, confident men and it was a delight.

CygneNoire

This is an absolutely beautiful light fragrance. I don't pick up on the vanilla notes but the mimosa and melon in the top notes and the base notes definitely are there. I'm currently wearing it layered on top of Outremer Vanille - a perfect combination for those who love their lush, deep winter scents but need a summer fragrance that isn't cloying.

florally

This was my first 'real' fragrance back in the day, and I fell in love with it at first sniff. I was in a little suburban pharmacy in a sprawling grey shopping centre, and then suddenly the world turned into cream-coloured velvet. Heaven!

I didn't even have to debate with myself about whether or not it was coming home with me -- C-E was my new best friend, and we'd be going *everywhere* together. I just knew it.

I hurried home after work that evening, ready to bathe in my beautiful new velvety elixir and spend the night luxuriating. Hmmm, I thought, in my cloud of mimosa. Maybe I'll see what that perfume book I bought the other day has to say about this one, so I can understand the scent a little better!

Out came Perfumes: The Guide. And there it was -- Champs-Elysees, Guerlain. And I read... and my beautiful cloud of velvety mimosa wonderfulness quietly drifted to the floor.

The review is uncomplimentary, to say the least, and to my very uneducated and confidence-lacking nose, looking for signposts to better understand this particular fragrance, I have to admit that LT's review ruined Champs-Elysees for me, for a good few months. Not his fault of course, but mine for letting it magnify what were apparently negatives. I wanted guidance and influence, and I got it, so it was my own fault.

This story has a happy ending, of course! Some time later I decided I didn't care what he thought; if my taste was plebeian, then plebeian and happy I'd be. And so I adore my Champs-Elysees, and I wear the heck out of it. That lovely quiet time between bath and bed is my favourite time to spend with it.

I mostly get pure mimosa powder, that turns into something a little soapier and a smidge sweeter. I see all the listed notes and I search for them, but nope. Fluffy mimosa all the way. The scent of contentment and quiet luxuriance. Heaven. <3

This one smells like a sour melon mixed with bubbly champagne, but in a good way. It's kind of sharp, like a rotten fruit, but in any ways is an unpleasant smell (like Eden, let's say). this is a very refined rotten melon, charming, elegant. Imagine a walk in the early afternoon in Paris. Imagine sitting in a bar, enjoying watching the people pass by while having a tea and and a pastry. Champs Elysees is that type of sour melon.
No mimosa whatsoever. I'm surprised by the other reviewers stating this is a mellow fragrance. This is sharp, and stays sharp for quite a while.

HannahNori

My husband gifted me this lovely and feminine perfume. I love it! It is simply divine.
The Mimosa is a stand out. This scent is everything I seek in a perfume. It is a floral, slightly powdery and sweet perfume. On my skin the silage is quite good also.
I use it more in the spring and summer months. I put it on my skin tonight, after my bath to soothe me to sleep.

masako_30

I recently smelled Champs Elysees Edt again, several years after the first time.
Just sprayed on my wrist, it was as if the first spring rays timidly warmed my skin. The air instantly smelled like mimosas.
Beautiful!
I can't add anything else, I think right now is a good time to have it for myself.

Yeremeh

It's a very beautiful fragrance! Soft, sweet, powdery and elegant. Sadly me and peach don't get along, I cannot stand the note on my skin.

Kitty48

I've had this fragrance for some time, when I first bought it I didn't love it, in fact I wasn't sure that I even liked it much. I am a huge fan of Guerlain perfumes and have several others, so my bottle of Champs Elysees languished alone and unloved in my wardrobe.

Recently I had a sort through of my massive perfume wardrobe and sold everything that I really disliked or was ambivalent about. I reached for my bottle of C-E and decided she deserved a second chance, so I sprayed a little and thought no, I'm still not sure and I moved on and C-E was put on the "maybe" list.

OK so now I find myself down to owning only what I really enjoy wearing and here she is again, let's give C-E one last try. Well I'm keeping her, I kind of "get" her better now. Looking through the notes the really stand out ones for me are the lilac and almond blossom. This could be Paris in spring, it's pretty and sparklingly sweet from the fruit notes - no red fruits for me though, only peach. Certainly lasting enough, I sprayed 4 hours ago and I can still smell that lilac trail. My husband likes her too and he can be picky - so she stays!

This is the most recent Guerlain I've tried, obviously it's not the vintage version which may not even be available anymore. Anyway, I'm familiar with classic Guerlains, so Champs-Elysees was a bit of a surprise. I found a big partial bottle for a ridiculously low price on Ebay. Guerlain frags tend to be expensive but C-E seems to buck that trend.

It opens big, like most Guerlain. It's the notes that differ so much from the classic scents. C-E is sweet and fruity, with notes like white grape juice or white currants. It's a bubbly and lighthearted fragrance, and yet there's some strength to C-E. For one, it lasts. The spray on my wrist lasted through a good scrubbing in the shower! I'm guessing there's a bit of sillage, too. The sweet fruit notes should carry well, esp. in warm weather.

Here's an interesting and peculiar note: this fragrance stains more than any other I have. No matter how carefully I spray, some will end up on whatever top I wear. The perfume is light colored but it still leaves tell tale spots behind. Weird!

C-E isn't bad by a long shot, but I'm not sure if I really like it. IMHO it doesn't compare to the classic Guerlain frags, but my taste runs toward vintage always. The sweet fruits are rather strong and overwhelm the floral notes. C-E isn't a cheapie but it's not unique either.

roxyjuliet

Unbelievably beautiful! One of my all-time favourite fragrances. The scent reminds me of sparkling champagne with melon or peaches, placed in a garden with white flowers. Heaven on earth. This is a perfume that starts light and slowly develops over an hour or so with body heat and lasts all day. If you like classic florals you will love this. Five stars!!!!

Recently I received Champs Elysees edt in a swap with one of my best swap buddies.I wasn't sure to choose this one as I hate melon and I'm not a fan of dominant lily of the valley in perfumes, had sampled it couple of years ago but couldn't remember it clearly, yet I decided to risk and do the swap,a great decision as I like it more each time I wear it
It opens with mimosa's bitter yellowish, green powdery scent which I don't care for but within two minutes sweet peachy fruits and pretty florals kick in and turn it to something lovely..I can easily detect it's sweet, fruity undertone but I can't put my finger on a specific fruity note, neither can I call it a fruity scent, fortunately I don't get the kind of melon I hate, nothing ozonic or aquatic here.fruits lurk around while I mostly get a floral, powdery scent of mimosa, lilac and almond blossom over a subtle woodsy, vanillic base.I love this type of fresh flowery powder when it has enough of a delicate sweetness.hmmmm,it's simply beautiful, timeless and feminine.I agree with the review calling it chic yet modest, also the other reviews calling it an optimistic and alluring scent.I don't find it overly mature, not too young either.it really is ageless and can be a good choice for different situations, except the ones that you need a lot of attention and something loud.I'd happily wear it not only in springs and summers, also during fall
It lasts very well on me,I can smell traces of it after a whole day,but it's light with a sillage staying somewhere between soft to moderate.I wish it was a bit stronger, but to be honest,I sometimes catch a whiff of this soft, heavenly scent when I move which is a joy for my nose and my soul
It may feel simple specially when first sampled but it's also a high quality,well-put-together juice,a calm and friendly one which can make a great office or daily perfume

Christopher Cupcakes

Very strong on initial spray but dies down to a lovely soft floral. It lasts on the skin pretty much all day too, which is very nice.

This is one of my favorite Guerlain fragrances too so I tend to wear this pretty often. Its light enough for day use as well. Great for Spring and Summer.

stacia79

Champs Elysees was one of my first introductions to the house of Guerlain. I received it as a gift from my love in a set of minis (Including Samsara, Mitsouko and Shalimar)
This is a beautiful example of how a mimosa fragrance should be. Sweet, almost syrupy and over the top femininity. The lilac and almond blossom are in there too adding powdery grace notes and the peach stays throughout, making Champs Elysees very sweet. I remember wearing this throughout the winter of 2001-2002, usually with chunky cable knit sweaters and diamond or pearl stud earrings. It suggests outfits like that.. simple, elegant, classic. I know a lot of people see this as a warm weather perfume but I personally find it too rich and sweet for hot temperatures.
Both my sister and my best friend have taken to wearing Champs Elysees often, so for now I've given it a break. My sister chose it for her wedding day perfume. This is not my favorite Guerlain (that's most likely Samsara) but this is really beautiful and would make a worthy signature scent for a lady of class.

Adina Galani

I don't dislike it, actually, till the dry down I almost bought it! But when the dry down came, it turned slitely J'Ador'ish on me. I don't dislike J'Adore at all, I am not sure I would wear it though, except for Voil de Parfume and very rare J'addore Flowers. This one shares something with Idyl too, and as said with J'Addore. I am strongly fearing Peony is not my thing. But this beauty is in the beginning a Goddly lilac/white flowers delight. I wished the drydown were a teeny tiny bit less common.

PricklyAndHot

Many attempts to fall in love with it. Done!

Real floral fruity. It smells floral on fruity base.

I wouldn't say that any flower smells 100% here like it truly smells in nature, but the bouquet in result is wonderful! It's really like a bouquet smell. Or like wind brings.

Speaking about fruity notes, peach and melon are more obvious.

I feel anise sourness a little bit.

Classic spring beauty!!!

Charming!

Lacrimosa

❀ Champs Elysées reminds me of a ballet of flowers in early spring...

Almond blossoms, lilacs climbing up on walls, tender mimosa buds all waft through the air, dancing beautifully like ballerinas!

I sit on the soft grass, eating mellow fruits full of juice, breathing in deeply the spring air ❤

Tigi

@Gemini12 nailed it!

The only thing I have to add is, that if it were oddly somehow up to me to have named this fragrance, the first name that comes to my mind is "Baby's Breath".

Gemini12

Spring flowers in a bottle! Mimosa, lilac and lily of the valley with a fruity base that gives it sweetness, but it's really all about the spring flowers. Champs Elysees EDT is beautiful, light and feminine in the way of classic perfumes. Wearing this perfume never fails to put me in a good mood and make me feel ultra feminine!

ANNAFRYS

The first scent is a lily of valley later ... delicate innocent soap of course pretty...

JamesAQ4

I like this, it's very much a like, it doesn't lend itself to dislike and I can't fathom anyone hating it. It's just not interesting or sparkling enough to love. It's nice and pleasant.

dglightblue

Impressive lasting power for an EDT.
This is not sweet smelling, it's a light well blended rounded flowery fragrance. it could be violets I can smell just after the opening..?
It's soft whilst you still get whafts of it as you go about your day.

Blunt but soft floral, not white floral in a Jasmine sort of way, that goes bitter in me.

Creamy without being sweet, light scent but full.

I've really come to like this brand, I don't like many from it but, I can still appreciate all the blends

;)

Timeless beauty. It's effervescent, if that makes sense. Fresh floral, green, and fizzy. I have worn this for 20 years. My only complaint is that I need a lot of sprays to make it last. But it's worth the price to feel...like I sparkle.

Hollyberri

Early summer standing in the garden center and smelling this beautiful floral scent wafting around me. I looked around to see if there was a flowering plant close to me and then realized it was my "Champs Elysees." Gorgeous fragrance, I'm never without it.

Guerlain champ elysees was always intresting for me but I never dared to blindbuy it since I highly detest melon in perfumes and also I'm not much of a floral girl anymore.recently I received a sample of it from my sample swap buddy so finally I could give it a try
As I dabbed it,I could get a combination of fruity notes and flowers.thanks God melon didn't stand out and I mostly could see it as soft peachy fruits.after couple of minutes it becomes a tad drier(still not very dry)and more on the floral side.flowers are very fresh here and it's a blend of lots of different flowers but mimosa and lilac are the ones which standout and give it a powdery undertone.
Although it's a flowery scent it never becomes heavy or sharp or old.it's so soft, fresh and natural that I feel I'm a part of nature, standing in a garden.it's a sunny day and I can smells whiffs of mimosa and other flowers in a breeze of clean air.I can also smell a hint of green note, not a herbal green.it's like smelling flowers and also their stems which make it more true to life just as woody notes, which become stronger as it dries down but don't overpower
I like this perfume a lot.it doesn't smell really perfumey to me.it smells like spring.it's light but not weak, fresh, airy and beautiful.if I want to explain it in a sentence I'd say fresh flowers with a hint of fruits in a base of subtle woods.if you like mimosa you'd love this.I'm an almond lover and I can't get it here as a separate note but I agree there must be almond tree in here giving the scent green-woody-powdery quality.it's almost longlasting but sillage is modest
I may consider buying a bottle of it in future.it's feminine, ageless, lively and elegant.if I had children,I'd like them to remember me with such a scent.natural and beautiful and full of hope, optimism and sunshine

I had high hopes for Champs Elysees, all the notes seem good to me and so many of you value it highly. I really wanted to like it, tried so many different ways, but after lovely initial burst it's just downhill. On a blotter it's the same as on my skin. On a blotter I get the vanillic drydown next day, on my skin I can't wear it more than 1-2 hours and I need to wash it off. The floralfruity part is very faint, and there's an unpleasant undertone growing stronger. It's like a very old makeup bag or a damp towel in need of wash by the swimming pool. I just wanted to share my experience, maybe it's my nose or I have gotten a bad bottle.

Edit: It is almonds that do not agree with my nose in Champs Elysees. I have learned to like this scent a bit more, but I'll probably gift it to someone now that I have tested it during summer.

atreyuas

First I get a soft sweet citrus and a melon note - maybe honeydew - which then warms to a lovely heart of ripe berries and soft airy honeysuckle and white flowers. The base is a gentle bed of nutty notes and green woods. So well blended that it's hard to discern specific notes, but on me it stays sweet and fresh and energizing. I don't get much powder, but it does have a sporty soapy kinda quality that would make it a perfect spring or summer scent, an outdoors-all-day-in-the-sunshine, still fresh at 4 pm-kinda scent. Sweet & pretty and strong, but with soft silage since it's an EDT. I actually mistakenly ordered this thinking it was the edp but I don't see any drop in longevity. Guerlain is a noted powerhouse in that department, and here I've found their edt to be stronger and longer lasting than most of the edps in my collection. So I'm very pleased. I'm not even into fruity florals generally, but this is beautiful and different than most of my other scents, so I'm very happy I added it.

anikomarton

This is my mother's parfume. A light but characteristic blast, a real soft blend of flower and fruit notes.
A chic fragrance with an identity. And for me, inseperable from my Mom.

FiaM

Just found a bottle that was manufactured in 1997. The scent whisked me back 20 years! (Ooooo I'm 20 years younger)
I have a few vintage bottles of this, including the one purchased in 1997. It's all in how it's been stored, this one was perfect. Any comments about how the new formula compares?

Sheza

Sampling from a mini, date unknown. Well i went through quite a thought process with this....first sniff it felt familiar- someone from years past? I couldnt put my finger on it, then i thought of chlorinnated swimming pools, nope that wasnt it....outdoor swimming pools...almost there...then it hit me! Sunscreen, im sure ammbre solair smelt like this around late 80's to mid 90's! Anyway i mostly get mimosa and melon, touch of lilac. It really sparkles. Even though this isnt my style i can truly see why people would love it. Feminine unique and happy. Btw it gives me a headache so i have to wash.

ScarlettX

This is a good perfume. A product of quality for sure. It fills the room, even when I only have it on a paper strip. I mostly sense it as powdery and floral. It has a big classic scent kind of feel to it. I can’t excactly tell, which floral notes are present, but I sense floral freshness in it. This perfume has a very-very good projection.

GroovyGwen36

I bought this in the mid 90's when they use to pass cards out with the notes

Top notes are
Black currents, pink buddleia (butterfly bush), Almond Blossom, mimosa blossoms
Middle Notes
Almond, rose,hibiscus, cherry blossoms
Base Notes
Almond Wood, Orris root, balsam resin

Scent is strong of buddleia I made an extract of flowers so I speak from experience. It's a timeless, fun and playful fragrance. If you want a guy to never forget you wear this. It's not jarring like other Gerlain fragrances. This is soft and light but long lasting.

carpp79

My mom gave me this perfume in 1998, when I started to atend law school. CE edt reminds me that time, and it's a good sensation, a bit nostalgic. I'm about to buy it again, this time EDP version.

hankunamatata

I love this scent!! I love the floral flowers and it lasts a long long time throughout the day. It changes on my skin and it never smells the same way it did when I first sprayed. It lingers and and changes different notes.

Perfumelover15

It,s all about mimosa and almonds. But Guerlain's way to do a mimosa and almonds perfume. The mimosa note is beautiful, smells of spring. It is mixed with the almonds, witch gives it a sort of bitterness and originality, instead of being too sweet and boring. The whole impression is of a floral fragrance, but the bouquet is done in a French way with so much elegance and finesse and sense of naturalness, with warmth instead of too much sweetness. The base is soft and sweet, instead of being too musky, witch makes it more feminine. A classy French flowery perfume from a house whose flag shop is in...Champs Elysees,of course..:-)

badloser

I can't smell any fruit at all. What it actually smells like is my grandma's old cabinet with all her old unused perfumes and soaps in it. A Dusty and strong smell emanates from you when you wear this perfume. My friend smelled it on me and shuddered in disgust. I love Guerlain for the great sillage and longevity though, which even Champs-Elysees has in full.

jacmac

very floral, especially dominant for me are the scents of spring flowers - lilac is the loudest, with what almost smells like hyacinth or something else that pops up first in the spring out of my garden. Rose, Lily and Peony also very strong, reminding me of J'adore L'Or (not the regular J'Adore). This one is too floral for me, but if you like smelling like a spring garden bursting with flowers, this one's for you. I need a little more dirt with my flowers - some oud, musk, or something to make it a bit more sexy. This one just stays la-de-da floral, innocent, girly, like a young woman in a sundress, white sandals, never misbehaving or swearing. Not me haha ;)

GrandmaGaga

This perfume is proof that a fruity-floral can be long-lasting, elegant and ageless.

chanelnumerocinq

Champs-Elysees is a pretty, romantic, spring fragrance. It has sweet floral notes of mimose, lilac, and violet along with an almond note that is more apparent in the dry down. It is a little fruity, but not much it is mainly floral-almond. The scent is not powdery. Oftentimes, I think as a whole the aroma comes across as smelling like plain French soaps, the very traditional chunky square ones that are beige in color and scented with shea butter or milk. Anyway, this scent smells clean but not in a laundry detergent way. The Guerlain quality is apparent. The notes are very smoothly blended. This fragrance is “safe” but it is not weak, in fact, lasts very well.

Papavero0

Word of advice: do not blind-buy this like I did. I am a big mimosa fan, but that alone is not enough to enjoy this undisturbed. The melon and the lily-of-the-valley are ruining it for me unfortunately. I can see how this can be nauseating during warmer weather.

SanaShahn

A true Guerlain in terms of longevity, lasts almost 12 hours easily. But when it comes to the actual fragrance, unfortunately, it's like a power blast of melon and mimosa that works on my sanity for the first one hour or so. If mimosa is your thing, go for it, this will be right up your alley!

HanamiTsukimi

It's too bad. I blind bought a mini of this because I loved the idea of it. But the melon just doesn't agree with me. It turns sickly on my skin. It's also a little too green and a little too soapy for me, possibly because of lily-of-the-valley. As a mimosa fan, I'm heartbroken. To a happier home it shall go.

TimeIsLikeABrokenWatch

It's baffling to me why so many of the complicated, challenging scents that I adore fall flat on my skin, and scents that merely please, such as this one, bloom and blossom and unfurl into a dizzying sweet-floral bouquet. It really does love my body chemistry.

On me, this is nearly pure, sweet mimosa, highlighted by warm sparkling peach, delicate lily, given just a hint of depth by a supporting note of woody-floral almond. The flowers sing in this fragrance, and it smells the way a warm summer day feels. Where some floral scents can take on a harsh green or bitter or synthetic note, Champs-Elysées maintains its full, rounded warmth from start to finish. It's all innocence and unadulterated chaste femininity, and to me smells like a scent my mother would have adored (she was partial to fragrances like Givenchy's Amarige and Estee Lauder Beautiful; this has more in common with Amarige, in my opinion, but if you like those two consider looking into this one as a sparkling, sweeter, more vibrant relative).

I wish this had a bit of edge, something to provide some mystery or surprise, but that's not what Champs-Elysées is about. I will allow that being "merely" beautiful is enough of an accomplishment. This one lives to please.

For what it's worth, this sticks around and projects reasonably well, better than many EdPs I own.

hsheep

I blind bought this based on reviews and my love of Guerlain. I didn't go wrong. It's a really cute and berry/floral fragrance that is (with any Geurlain I try) quite comforting. It's sparkling and bubbly, like wearing a flowery champagne, I think it comes from the mimosa. It's also quite fresh but has a soft heart. An elegant yet bubbly fragrance ideal for spring and summer nights. But I like to wear it all the time ;)
Lasts 4-5 hours with sillage that stays close. Love it.

georgetaylor

What a perfect summer fragrance.

Bought a small bottle of this after smelling it in the store! It is lovely. On me, it is all peaches and lilac and sweetness. It lasts a few hours with 2-3 sprays, a heavier spraying is needed to smell it all day.

It is so sweet, uplifting, and refreshing. I am all about this one, this summer.

deanyunuss

Both my twin sister and my younger sister couldn't stand the smell. too overpowering and long lasting...

Perfumedsecrets

For years I have been on a never ending search for my signature perfume, and then one day I realized it was Champs Elysees all along. I tend to be fickle with perfumes, but Champs Elysees has stuck around for near five years. I never get tired of it or think it's boring. It's not a particularly stunning perfume or a bombshell, but it has a quality of daily elegance that makes it appealing to me. I can wear it anywhere and feel like myself.

Lucky7z

I loved this scent (nice and long lasting) but had to give it to my mom cuz this would give me horrible headaches=(

HebaD'Opium

I really wanted to get this perfume, been looking for it everywhere. Yesterday, I finally found it and eagerly wanted to spray it on my wrist. It wasn't that much of a magical reunion as I've thought...no, wanted to be.
I love floral perfumes so I was welcoming the thought of owning this with open arms. I tried it on clean arms; no lotion on them or whatsoever, it was the first I tried at the store too so there was no room for misinterpretation of the fragrance. It was just awful on my skin, unfortunately.

Actually, when it was sprayed (before smelling my wrist) it was heavenly, like a happy mid spring day, Lilac, Mimosa, lily of the valley, peony, rose all embracing in a cloud of violet. Just by smelling that cloud it made me feel like a child, a very happy one. It was like a garden of well tended flowers exploded in my face, as a floral fragrance lover, I was in love...just by that puff.
After 30 seconds, it was time to smell my wrist, still wonderful, i can smell the flowers, mainly lilac, mimosa, peony and lily of the valley then plus benzoin and the almond notes. I was very happy cause I will finally welcome this beauty to my collection. I went through the shop waiting for the perfume to settle down a bit, still didn't try another perfume on my hands or arms. I smelt a whiff of something horrible, spoilt onions and rancid olive oil, when I knew the source was my wrist, nonetheless...my champs elysees, I was terrified. My skin failed me when I so wanted it not to. I smelt cantaloupe (on me it was more of cantaloupe not melon) and the bad onions plus the awful oil, so sad :( I even had to go wash my hands after.
As a kid, I loved flowers and I still do. there are always flowers in my home so i'm not giving up on this perfume.
Like Thierry Mugler's Womanity, this might be one of those fragrances that need time to develop on you or the case is it's too much for your body and your body needs time to get used to it.
After finding it, was it a mistake to let it go? Maybe. If I find it again will I get it? Yes. Even though it's horrible on me. Maybe someday it will change its mind.
I hope one day I could rewrite a review for Champs Elysees.

This scent is pure perfection for me -- from the juice to the bottle. I know it has been and is being sharply criticized by some refined connoisseurs. I love it anyway. Very wearable - both on skin and on clothes, very "huggable", so to speak. Projects sheer happiness. A bliss.

This is the reason why the house of Guerlain are the masters at perfumery. With fragrances such as this one that evoke strong emotion and imagery. This fragrance too me is spring at its best. Innocent baby lambs frolicking on a green meadow littered with daffodils, lilacs and lily of the valley; carefree and oh so adorable! This is the smell of spring! Beautiful...i just can't explain how great this perfume is.

heather62

Angels probably smell like this. Oh my goodness, this is so pretty.

I recently traded with another member here for this and I am so happy to have this again.

Update: I wore this a few days ago. Ugh. Gave me a huge headache/nausea. Maybe my chemistry changed. I used to love love love wearing this.

Another update: my best friend and I trade out perfumes sometimes and she insisted that I take this one so I did and I wore it to work today. It feels fresh and feminine. I am getting wafts of this all day and it is very pretty. No one else has commented on it but I do like it and I'm glad that I have it again.

Andorsia

This is a modern classic. In the beginning I get an explosion of a good blend between floral and fruity. In a few moments the fruits give way for the lovely florals to shine. There is no overbearing sweetness but a very well crafted and rounded floral.

gypsy parfumista

According to the house of Guerlain, perfumers Olivier Cresp and Jean-Paul Guerlain both submitted versions of this and Cresp's was chosen...

A Guerlain may have created the 1904 "original" but its rare and scant if even still in existence. Considering this version came out in 1996 (2 years after LVMH acquired the House) and was the first non-Guerlain family member created perfume its very very nice; however, since Jacques's last perfume was Ode created in 1955 (with the help of grandson Jean-Paul) its seems strange crediting someone fourteen years deceased or the modern iteration that shares nothing with his work other than its name.

Please add a page for the original (1904) if it was ever even released or amend this page.

Please and thank you...

Silences

This is ideal for the warmer months but it has such a timeless quality you could wear it anytime. It's cheerful and light, a beautiful friendly floral with light fruits that I think most people could easily enjoy.

Classic,Delicate and timeless....make me feel good about myself!

For something so delicately well made this has long lasting power! I have been looking for a perfume I can wear for daytime without offending other people's olfactory sense. This is kind of blind buy as I didn't check it on my skin first before buying this but I just can't let go of this last bottle in my nearby pharmacist's I have been reading the review on Champs Elysees for quite some time now and the reviews are so reassuring that I just ended up buying this one. First I advice not to smell it straight from the bottle as it is quite strong I was almost put off by it. I tried it on my bare shoulders one rainy and breezy July afternoon not too hot here in London right now. Beautiful creamy floral notes comes out not so much of the fruity ones on me but I don't care this is the real deal. This made me smell and feel so girly yet self assured. Will get you noticed quite easily without begging for one. Unlike some of the perfumes that comes out of the market right now Champs is not overly complicated but this doesn't need to be it's beauty comes from being understated yet elegantly delectable. I'm so glad I bought this.♥

kar_ivy

Bought this recently. It opens really sweet to me: the melons and peaches and even a bit of pear to my nose. Then it dries down to the white floral notes, especially the lily of the valley, with a hint of honey under it. Its refreshing and yet sweet. Very appropriate for a warm sunny afternoon; summer or winter :) Also the woody notes but not very strong.

Lybarra118

This is one of the few yellow floral-only (nearly) perfumes that I adore. Champs EDT is soft and dewy. It's quietly elegant, yet charming and playful. A springtime must-have for me. I wear it in summer, but only when I'm dressing up in more than shorts and flip flops. It's definitely a sundress and wedge heels kind of scent.

It's just so sunny and sparkling that it never fails to put me in a great mood. I especially love spritzing some on before bed - that's how inoffensive and delicate it is.
I will always keep a bottle on hand.

mabelcruet

I am normally a big Guerlain groupie, but Champs Elysees is not one of my favourites. I have a miniature of this (from a Duty free coffret-I love those mini-sets!) but it needs an awful lot of dabs before I get any fragrance at all-I think my skin must eat this up. Initially there was a burst of fresh green, almost like freshly chopped celery. This dries down to a faint powdery note, but I don't get any true floral or fruit. There's no sweetness and no musk or vanilla. To me this is a very linear fragrance without the complexity of Samsara or Mitsouko. It's smooth, but it's quiet, weak and watery. It's a nice enough fragrance, but doesn't match up to the other classic Guerlains. It lasted around an hour on me, and the sillage is non-existant. From reading all the fantastic reviews I think it must be my wrist and body chemistry which is rendering this fragrance null and void on me.

Eridanshay1

The first time I smelled this was on the arm of a woman shampooing my hair at the salon in 1996. I was pregnant, & most smells made me nauseous, especially perfumes, but this was wonderful. It wafted about reminding me of Springtime, rain, lilacs, violets and softness. I later asked for and was gifted with a bottle I used up quite quickly. I need to get some more of this, considering I don't often go through an entire bottle of scent unless I LOVE it.
It is fresh and sparkling without being shrill. It's perfect for when I want to take a break from my spicy orientals or gourmands, and it is nothing like the vibrant in your face white florals I have been experimenting with and loving lately. It truly does capture the essence of what I imagine Paris in the springtime to smell like!
Cheers!

I just love this fragrance...... absolutely elegant... turns heads and commands attention

GalInGlasses

I just love this. On first application, it's very floral, but within the first hour of wear, the almond notes come forward like crazy on my skin. Such an interesting and unexpected transition. I was actually really surprised that "nutty" was not one of the main adjectives used to describe this fragrance. I absolutely love this scent's creamy dry-down; it's like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket, and it just goes on forever. I've been wearing Champs Elysees for about 11 hours now, and I'm still catching whiffs of it. Ugh, just gorgeous. For any time of day, occasion, or season; thinking it might be the perfect lift in the fall.

SabrinaBD

This was my signature scent in my 20s. All day, every day. It was the perfect floral for a young adult. Then I put it away for years. I found a bottle on sale and couldn't resist. I sill like it but don't love it the same as I used to. It's still a beautiful soft floral, but I swear I smell a slight note of PlayDoh when it dries down. Maybe my ski chemestry has just changed. Did the formula change perhaps? So, its a light elegant floral with a lot of sparkle, sophisitication and a touch of PlayDoh :)

Marie76

This is the beauty of the Guerlinade in all it's glory. It's soft, insouciant...so well balanced, so elegant, floaty and flirty. There's no mastery in it, this is a flirty girl who is incredibly beautiful but doesn't take herself seriously in any way. After years of use, it's still my husband's favourite on me. In terms do notes, apart from th Guerlinade accord it's got mimosa in it and a very creamy yummy dry down. A master piece, but one that is so popular it no longer feels like it...

melange

This is a really good floral fragrance, one I understand and appreciate, but it's not for me. I'm just unimpressed. I think my reaction to Champs Elysees finally taught me to accept the fact that I'm not a 'florals' girl :(

Practical remark: I think it can be a little too cloying for the really young crowd, and a little too girly for 30+ women.

beatrix75

Oh Gud how much i like this frag the smell off flower powder fruct kombination !!Its delicat but long lasting feminine young women smell who know what she want from the life, absolute gorgeous perfekt for any ocasion

BethAshley

While I normally shy away from fruity floral perfumes, I absolutely love this one. It is mature and complex, sweet and floral. Not at all like the flood of celebrity fruity floral perfumes currently marketed.

The melon and violet are at the forefront for me. It took me a while to recognize the melon since it is a sweet melon rather than the cool, aquatic melon most often used in modern fragrances. Although the vanilla and sandalwood base notes are not easily detectible, they make this fragrance very warm.

This perfume is perfect for any daytime occasion or for at work. Warm, classic and refined. I prefer to wear this one in the winter since it is fairly sweet.

Antares811

I will always love this beautiful scent.
A gorgeous, sweet, warm, elegant, feminine floral.
I always have a bottle: it's one of my all time favorites.
Perfect for every season, an amazing signature scent.
Love both EDT and EDP.
Unforgettable.

marylu

I am not an expect in describing each individual note but I really like this. Somewhat sweet but the sweetness is not over done.

On my skin, it's whisper soft, delicate and very feminine. An ageless, timeless scent. A great perfume for a special occasion or a romantic date. I am looking forward to wearing this in spring/summer.

anna.023

This is one of those rare perfumes that taught you something that you didn't know, who suprised you and made you open your eyes to a whole diffrent perfume category! It simply broadened your taste.

First of all I'm no fan of true florals and a fruty floral seriously kills it for me. Slaughter it would be a better way to put it. And yellow florals? the colour of a floral wont change anything, it probably gonna suck as well.

But hey, wait! This perfume really caught me at first sniff, it was a hasty blind buy for me and it turned out to be WONDERFUL! I am head over heels, blindly, madly IN LOVE with Champs Elysees!

It's fresh, it's cosy, it delivers compliment after compliment and it's very long lasting wich I demand from e perfume.

It's Guerlain at it's best, thank you Guerlain (like always!) for creating a perfume to love at all times, at parties, at lunch, at work, on my vaccation etc...

lirael00

I got this one few years back and when I first tried it all I could smell was urine. Seriously, I couldn't believe it myself but there was nothing else there for me. In an hour or so the scent changed and the bitter parts were coverd by something more femminine and likable, but still there was a hint of something that smelled like urine. I pressume it's the melon who gives the fragrance this weird bitter note. Anyway, this one is not for me, as it clearly doesn't work with my skin.

Marco Chau

This is a review on my vintage bottle of Champs-Elysees pure parfum from 1996.

To me, it is a cheerful and airy fragrance that smells expensively made with a more youthful audience in mind compared to most of the other fragrances by Guerlain. It is definitely more feminine among other Guerlains and might not be very suitable for men, even for the much richer parfum concentration, unless layered with something more woody or musky.

On my colder than average skin, this particular bottle of parfum started off with soft fruity, mostly fresh sweet peaches, a tiny bit of blackcurrant and a hint of ripe melon notes. A faint almond like note joined in after a couple minutes with prominent airy soft but rich sweet floral note of Mimosa and something that smelled like green jasmine or lily-of-the-valley. There was a creamy powdery richness to this scent that the floral notes gained power, with added hint of powdery roses, after about 30 minutes and that created a really cheerful carefree girly vibe. After about an hour or so, the Guerlainade characters of slight tartness of rich Sandalwood, sweetness of Vanilla and softness of Benzoin were detected along with a clean musky note probably from the Hibiscus seeds and they remained as the base with still hints of florals for well over 8 hours. The dry down of this parfum was sensual and really worth waiting for.

As a side note, I am not sure whether my nose was picking the right note as at the dry down, I detected a faint scent of white (grey) Ambergris and that made it more attractive to me.

Fizzy

Far better and cheaper substitution for Champs Elysees is Mimosa L Erbolario, an italian fragrance, if you can get your hands on it. Smells the same and has a better longevity and radiance.

sarage

The perfect season for this delicate, elegant, feminine perfume would be spring, but I gave it to myself today.
This has been on my secret want-list for a long time.
There is some nostalgia in this scent, can't figure out exactly what it is, but it is a distant memory of something in my life. This is great with perfumes, they become part of your story, even reminders of different eras.
Champs Elysees is feminine and romantic in a ladylike way. It doesn't scream sexy, it doesn't scream at all. It is a soft, fresh whisper of spring flowers.

incrediblemelk

I loved this when I was younger – I burned through a 100ml bottle – and I still find the bottle quite elegant. Only tonight I reluctantly threw away that empty bottle to make room for new perfumes on my dresser, and when I gave it a farewell sniff I couldn't believe how cheap and cloying it smelled – full of blaring melon – and was amazed that I used to wear it.

It's not quite as aggressively sugary and fruity as most celebrity perfumes, but it's not especially complex either. It's perhaps what a teenager might consider elegant. (I once did!) But it's certainly not a worthy heir to Guerlain's wonderful perfume heritage.

vv1978

This was a gift smelled lovely in the bottle and worked with my chemistry. The gentleman who gave me this loved this scent and surprisingly I liked it, I enjoy a little more depth in my floral scents which is my mainstay. This was lovely reminds me of Gloria Vanderbilt which I wore ages ago when I was young soft but not exciting or vibrant, a safe scent feminine not cloying, but again not so notable either. If you are gift giving this is safe for everyday work place and should not offend anyone.

Arlene-Beatrix

Looks like skin chemistry changes with age, cause this fragrance developed very well on my skin 10 years ago, and nowadays it has been not. Now it is quite sour. Pity.

lcommisso

I don't smell the fruit at all...it is potent floral, but soft. I can see saving this bottle for the springtime. It is one of my more complex feminine fragrances. It strikes me as old fashioned, not as in something an older person would wear, but more like something my grandma would have worn in her late 20s. Classic.

elliselove

again when i sniffed on a magazine sample when this first came out to a market, i drooled over it, remember tossing and turning at night wanting it. but when i finally got one, it wasnt the same. the scent was so strong, sickening, it was just not working well for me. lol. i'd never buy again ever.

Antares811

It used to be my signature (the EDT), years ago. Beautiful and feminine, lots of people asked me what I was wearing.
Fresh and sweet at the same time, it's a great, original floral. Great lasting power too.
Lovely. Absolutely recommended.

courant

Works best with cold skin, i.e. not freshly showered skin. This is Mimosa, the real deal, not the dreck that Halle Berry tried to foist on us. (much as I admire the woman) Accacia trees flower (here) in late winter, when they have little competition and I bear this in mind as I review Champs Elysees. The tree: Not a strongly scented creature out in the landscape; not a strongly scented perfume either, but it has had some very bad press and that needs to be diluted somewhat. This is an elusive scent. Some bombshells say 'Kiss me' ...Champs Elysees is the girl who touches her lip in wonderment, knowing she has been kissed. He won't ask what the scent is, because it melded into the scent of a woman. Did that happen the last time I saw Paris? Oh, I wish. Let it join the ranks of understated perfumes, which, from me, is a compliment; these are the ones that you replace, like Hiris, Noa or Jour d'Hermes. Lovely! (with apologies to SJP)

Heather q

This is one of my all time faves, I wanted to buy a few bottles duty free when I was leaving Sydney airport but they didn't have any. I asked the sales lady for some but she said it was DISCONTINUED!! and tried to push the new guerlain black dress or whatever it was called insisting that this new one was better. I was devastated. But then in Rome duty free they had plenty, so I don't know what's going on. Please don't let this be discontinued! It's the ultimate spring scent.

SofiaSauris

Best of the BEST fragrances I've ever had!

carrieruble

OMG, this is GORGEOUS. I hated it when it first came out but after wearing Mimosa Pour Moi (and getting a lot of compliments) I decided to re-try this one since it supposedly has Mimosa notes. I was floored to discover how much I like it. It lasts FOREVER on me; I can smell it the next day! Summer Kenzo pales in comparison to this one. I don't care what THE PERFUME GUIDE says, I disagree with their assessment on this one. Besides, never let someone else tell you what you should wear — fragrance is very individual and makes a very personal statement about the wearer. If you like soft, fresh florals, this is worth a try!

livtic

i use this frag as my signature and never get bored with this, very pleasant, elegance and relaxing.

EmilyTheStrange

This is Spring in a bottle - and perfect for the hot September weather we're having at the moment. On my skin, this is mainly fresh melon, almond marzipan, almond blossom and violets. Over time, the juicy currants come in to play their part along with the other florals. I only get a faint amount of Anise and Vanilla which kind of waft their way in and out over time.
Champs Elysees feminine and light - but not light in the sense that others can't smell it, more light in a very fresh and non-cloying way.
This gorgeous scent lasts the distance on my skin - a good 12 hours now and I'm still easily smelling it's beauty. To me, Champs Elysees is happiness and positivity in a bottle as it evokes those emotions in me :) Once again, Guerlain haven't failed to impress. Absolutely beautiful scent - one I don't think I'll ever be without again.

Abendlicht

This smell really nice. floral and fruity with some sweetness that develops after a few minutes. But nothing sickening. It reminds me slightly of Eau de Dolce Vita by Dior (which I think is discontinued ) I wore in the early 2000. I thought it would be dryer, but I still like it. It was a blind buy from tjmaxx...!! I'll add more impressions later. :)

gracenote-floralspice

I bought this fragrance in Germany when attending a conference on braille. The conference kept me busy as I had to present a paper. It all went well and this was a gift to myself. I wanted something from the house of Guerlaine. I wore it during spring and summer of 2011 here in SA. My younger sister complimented me, so did an older friend, and my husband. I could not smell the fragrance and thought it had all but faded. Surprise! Light and airy and certainly old worldly romantic like that old elegance experienced when strolling down the Champs Elysees, which apparently translates of the heavenly garden? I hope I understood that right. If so, the lilac, roses and mimosa can certainly create the impression of a halcyon summer day and the light and romance of Paris

greenelf

On my dry, pale, older skin, I find the lilac and mimosa scents are very dominant and this becaomes very floral on me--the fruit notes can make it too cloying on a really warm day. I actually prefer the lighter, more shimmery "Too Much Champs-Elysees"--which I cannot find a bottle of now! Still--I DO like it and always wear it during spring....

RugosaAlba

I am going to reprimand Guerlain, as I would the older sibling , who was left in charge for younger children in the family, but instead initiated and supported all the “mischief“ in the industry. When I test yet another Guerlain of contemporary manufacturing, I approach it with trepidation, I still have higher expectation from Guerlain, still do not loose my hope since there is so much hype about this house.
Then I realize that my trepidation was not justified and get deeply disappointed. And Champs Elysee is not an exception here. I think another name for this creation should be "Too Much". Personally I can not distinguish any notes besides "lilac" at the first spray. EDP is potent.
The humbler approach to such still artificially smelling notes as LOTV, Lilac, mimosa, and melon is to stop, think and be more minimalistic or not to use them at all. Fruity/lilac/almond combination is unbearable. Jessica McClintock, no matter how “grammas‘“ it smells, I think it’s a better approach. Most of the perfumers would only take one or two notes that are difficult to fake, but not Guerlain, which is not known for it‘s minimalism. And perhaps having some “opulence” or better yet overwhelming us in mind this shrill thing was created.
So, the best part of the fragrance for me is the almond.
I have to admit, one of my favorite hand creams(almond with some sweetish fresh green something) from L’Occitane smells similar to Champs Elysee, other L’Occitane almond products a little bit less similar, but delicious anyway. So, I do like almond and would be glad to embrace Champs Elysee, but it just does not work on my skin.
EDT smells cheaper, predictably so, there is some generic base(probably synthetic sandalwood/cedarwood and white musks subtly stinky).
So, I thought no matter how artificial all these LOTV and lilacs and melons smell on my skin (my skin only emphasizes shrilly girlishness of Champs Elysee) I should make it work. It’s Guerlain, right. Seems to work for everybody else, right?
Finally, one day, it did. I married it to a new Italian leather jacket. It popped next to leather beautifully(just one droplet) and in rather “expensive” way, like it was all that it needed for balance. Then, maybe it’s not made for female skin at all. May be it’s made for leather, or male skin. I will try to bend my husband towards testing this on his skin.

Garden.Wren

I simply adore this perfume. It starts mildly fruity and softly floral and over the course of the next hour or so it morphs into this beautiful, slightly delicate white/yellow floral that I can't stop sniffing. Finally, I've found a juice that was made for my chemistry. I love spraying this on after my morning bath atop BBW'S Butterfly Flower body lotion. Simply divine!

Museumgal

A fruity opening that isn't overwhelming. Then the florals come in and they're really the star of this scent. The mimose is very sweet and the lilac compliments it very well. Florals are sweet and true and lovely. Not overwhelming but always present. Nice for formal day time occasions or just a lazy spring or summer day, for a stroll. Reminds me very much of a stroll through beautiful flowering trees, which I gather is the essence they were going for with the title. As always for the house the manage to accomplish what they were setting out to express perfectly. Very inspiring scent, I could see reaching for it when starting an artistic project.

lindaberlin

Just got this today. After reading all the reviews, I decided that I just HAD to have this. That said, I sprayed a spritz on the back of my hand and to me smells exactly like Rose Absolu by Yves Rocher. I already had that perfume, so I am a bit disappointed, as it costs much more than the latter one. I do like it though. I need to just get the samples first to be certain. Blind buys can be a costly purchase. It is a nice fragrance, superb, no, but nice. Will not be buying this one again

reborn

I ADORE the perfume version,it is soooo intoxicating.Edt and edp are okay, but Perfume in the little square bottle is amazing

Annica

Although there has been a lot of positive reviews, it can still go a bit wrong when buying a perfume. I can feel now, after an hour, that this is not a perfume for my body chemistry. It's NOT that I think it smells bad but there is something in it that bothers me. Perhaps it is that the flowers are a bit too pushy in the beginning and that the scent that emerges afterwards reminds too much on freshly washed clothes. I miss that wonderful creaminess that I was expecting. This perfume is like no other fragrance I've tried from Guerlain. It lacks somehow the depth and character that is the hallmark of Guerlain. I give the scent 3/5. The bottle is beautiful like all bottles from Guerlain

Kateri81

It may sound wierd, but I smell linden trees in bloom. And I love it so much.

daintypink01

my all time favorite scent.. smells so elegant.. something a princess would wear. REALLY INTOXICATING

Save M

It's so LOVELY! When you wear it you will fell yourself very feminine and elegant walking in a French boulevard! A real modern classic!! an evergreen!

the roses, the mimoses and the lilac are so pretty!!!
I prefer wearing it in Spring and summer although it's cosy in every season because of its distinctive features.

A wanderful Guerlain's scent!!! A must-have for those who love flowery scent and fragrances in general!!

goodcupoftea

gorgeous floral and suprisingly long lasting scent. I find mimose notes very tasteful and unusual, mixed with lilies and rose...But not an old ladys old smell - it is very modern, tasteful and smell like VERY expensive. One of my favourites, for ever!

Cybernoir

An elegant, fresh, understated fruity floral, perfect in Spring and early Summer. Opens with a beautiful violet note that is in perfect harmony with a juicy peach. The opening on me is more fruity than floral, with peach, melon, and black currant. However, it is really the almond that is the star of the opening show. A soft almond that is a little bitter, a little sweet, and a little toasty; ending slightly woody and vanilla. Overall, one of the best openings I know, with a complete chord struck from the first notes, a rich peachy violet supported on an almond-vanilla foundation. The anise is very light and unobtrusive, flitting in and out, pairing briefly with the almond. I don’t get much melon on me, which is probably a blessing.

The heart opens as a big floral, and remains floral throughout, but the juicy sweet peach lingers on, merging with the lilac and mimosa. This is a very mimosa laden fragrance overall, but the lilac is strong as well, and pairs with the lingering violet note. The rose balances it all beautifully. I don’t get much LOTV, just a slightly clean soapy white floral note. For me, this is all about balance and composition: the flowers create floral chords, with individual notes that come and go, similar to listening to an orchestra play a complex work, and suddenly hearing clearly a violin or flute.

As far as the hibiscus: there is only one hibiscus that is fragrant, and it smells nothing like this. I believe this must be a “fantasy note” in Champs Elysees, I smell a tart, tropical floral note.

The drydown is typically Guerlain, all vanilla and sandalwood goodness, here paired with almond tree and cedar, giving it a lovely resinous nutty effect. Overall, it is a little creamy and powdery, has excellent longevity and silage, and is a perfect choice for professional settings, especially in Spring and Summer. As Pitchlara noted in her review, it is a wonderful fragrance for folks living in the tropics and sub-tropics. It holds up extremely well in heat and humidity, and survives daily torrential rains in the rainy season, while remaining fresh.

valeriapredoiu

girly fresh and lovely sweet. i love it. it is for a young delicate but also lively girl. i love the mimosa..and the almonds.. and the vanilla. guerlain is definately a great house! never felt cheated when buying one of their products!

alchemist1976stephanie

Sadly, the new version doesn't have the same beautiful, bright opening that the original had. It's a bit dull to start out with and seems to have a slight aroma of urine at first. Luckily, this dissipates and you are left with the gorgeous, delicate powdery floral notes akin to the original formula. I still love the way it settles, but the beginning is a bit insulting. Maybe I will have to try it again on another day to see if it does the same thing. I hope not because we have a long history together and it used to be my favourite.

djuzz.becuzz

Very pretty scent... sweet & delicate mimosa and lilacs with a touch of almond. Sillage is not huge, but it's definitely there. Longevity is good.
Lovely spring/summer scent!

Daisydukes

Very much lilac and mimose. I do not think it smells like 5th avenue. I actually own both and have one on each arm to compare. It is bright and sunny. Makes me think of spring flowers - the kind that bloom from bulbs - such as hyacinth and tulip.

I will wear this a lot in the spring. It is pretty in a traditional way and definitely bright and floral fresh.

antfarm

At first, this is overwhelmingly floral, like every single flower in the world being shoved up your nostrils all at once. I love the smell of fresh lilacs, but in the beginning stages of Champs Elysees the lilacs are assaulting you.

After about an hour this becomes a simple, pretty, spring-like floral that doesn't really make too much of an impression. It's just "nice".

darksome

This is a very pretty fresh floral scent (like a fresh floral shower gel). For me it's too plain/boring to be a really winner. But it's nice. And I agree, it's a little metallic in the drydown.

When this scent would be a color, I would say pearl white with silver accents.

freddinos

A very 'in' fragrance of the 90s, you would smell this a lot along with Tresor. These two perfumes share the same character to my nose, they don't smell the same but evoke the same feelings. More fruity than floral, Champs Elysees brings out a metallic unpleasant note on my skin. Thankfully I tested before buying, as I regretfully didn't do with Tresor (that was a disaster on me).

aveilhe

Melon and mimosa -- fresh, fruity, and feminine! This is a modern classic.

Champs Elysses is such a lovely spring/summer fragrance; it is ripe with fruit but far-removed from the fruit-chouli bombs so popular currently. The melon note is what makes this fragrance distinctive, lending an overall light, almost watery quality. It is bright and subtly sweet, with petal-soft base notes of sandal wood, musk, and a pinch of vanilla and almond.

This would be a pretty, romantic fragrance for a bride, a young girl just starting to explore perfumes, or someone who is looking for a fresh floral that is not too "flowery."

polecat

I've tested this a few times hoping for lovely spring florals but sadly all I get every time on my skin is melon, melon and more melon.

Such a shame for an affordable guerlain but I guess it just was not meant to be!

nicolevivi

subtle and elegant

RedDeLishus

Great when mixed with something younger or more aquatic in nature. I don't like it on its own. I love it under other fragrances.

The Swedish girl

Here we go again, I read all the rave reviews, and think it must be safe to do a blind buy...
But ooh nooo...

This perfume - like soooo many of the older stinkers - smells like ammonia/urine and ashtray. VERY harsh and bitter/citric/acridic.
WTF is it that creates this stench?! I can`t seem to figure it out, other than it has to do with the flowers.

I know I hate flowers, so why do I continue to buy flowery crap?

Underneath all the nastyness I can ALMOST faintly smell something creamy in the basenotes, but then it´s to little and too late.
Btw, this smells almost identical to EA Fifth Avenue.

Chic and elegant, yes,and aptly named as this perfume is so very French. Yet somehow something is missing. Its a floral, but not a big floral- too subtle.Evokes spring, but seems old fashioned and powdery. Nothing horrible, just light and non-descript. Somewhere around here is 2/3 of a 50 ml bottle I purchased long ago and I should give it another try when April rolls around. My usual death-knell: this one is suitable for the office or church.

Arielrose

Seriously, this is one of the best fragrances ever. I used it for years after it's initial release, strayed to other perfumes through the years, but recently got a new bottle. Oh my, it's just as delicious as before! The black currant and mimosa are most dominant on me and it suits me well because I love those scents so much. It's a 'happy' fragrance, uplifting, joyful with just the right depth and intrigue. Love it and so glad it's still be made :)

bruby

One of my very favourites! It always leaves a trace of freshness and spring behind you. I used to work as a nurse in hospital while I was wearing this and I had patients telling me I leve such a lovely flowery trace behind me that they always waited for me to go back more frequent. I had compliments at the uni about it too. It is light, flowery, elegant and sophisticated, very persistent and has a great sillage, it is the essence of youth and sexiness. I always have a bottle in my collection.

Pitchlara

I love this fragrance.
Some people ( including some acid-tongue "professional"who has some issues with its popularity in some particular hemisphere of the globe ) say it is one of the worst Guerlain's or even say a mistake(!), I don't find it deserves such a bad mouthing.
While I was working in a busy tropical city, this was the fragrance I used up at least 4 bottles in a row.
Decent, youthful and elegant floral.
Clearness and sophisticated femininity of the fragrance is just nice for summer weather city life.
Under the tropical sun, sadly, some perfume can easily go wrong in a lot of senses.

easybeauty.via giolitti

an excellent spring fragrance! This frangrance is spring in a bottle like a fresh bellini cocktail!

CoolBreezes

This scent is Springtime in Paris...lilacs and ripe pears wafting on a balmy breeze just beginning to be warmed by a sun leaving winter and not yet arrived at summer. The light almond note gently holds the blossoms. I am outside when ever and where ever I wear this. Fountain of youth.

WildDove

Almondy floral - spring in a bottle! Sprayed in the crook of the arm, Champs Elysees blooms to a warm elegance.

Dialover

they wanted to make it beautiful but failed! Too cloying. I had it as a gift, tried to wear but couldn't stand it after an hour.

Dollycat

A sweet, very soft and cute masterpiece! Very elegant and chic but in a modest way. Very long lasting for such a soft eau de toilette! Love!!

koko32

I got this perfume as a present 16 years ago:) For another 16 years ghost of Champs Elysees was torturing me:) So i bought my second bottle. And happy to have it in my collection. Prefer for winter, smells wonderful when sprayed on fur. Warms me up

kosmoskukka

Hi, I think this is one of good Mimosa scents, sparkling, fresh, floral. Not kinda soapy, as I am a big fan of old school scents. Sparkling mimosa is correct.

huda.yousef

hi ,, i want ask if it soapy ?

josy_infante

This fragrance here is my signature scent, i love the way it smells and people always complement me, men and women! To me It's Mimosa at its best, it's very light and delicate, yet the staying power is awesome, it lingers all day and makes me feel clean, fresh happy and young.

lindsayyasdnil

Having spent some years working in the fragrance industry, I have to say this is one of the worst I encountered. This "yellow peril" is a vulgar plastique-pastiche of "white(ish)" flowers, and first-cousin to CK's Eternity - another hideous and ill-judged raw and unpleasant "floral" of the lowest order!

CleoMoore

Lilacs! And a lot of lovely complimentary notes... A bit of vanilla and green wood comes forward on my skin. But mostly lilacs - fortunately I love lilacs!

Pink_Petal

When this scent came out, my cousin made it her signature scent, then she hooked her mom (my aunt) on it, next was my mom...and finally they converted me as well:)This is a perfect classic scent that is for any time of the year, is suitable for any occasion and is sooo likable. Personally for me it is very comforting as it always reminds me of my mom, but it is not an "old" scent at all, on the contrary- it is fresh and flowery, very long lasting as well. Highly recommended!

PLUMPIE

Pure almond marzipan and yellow mimosa is all I get from this I think this would be an older scent that could be re-launced towards the younger crowd. This lacks all the powdery/sensualness that are common in all Guerlain classics. So so sweet just makes me ill.

Amarilis60

Was very surprised when read L Turin words about this frag, because I think the same from the first time I smelled it from my friend . SomeB gave her a present and she was this type of person that would wear everything .. She was torturing us , really! Nobody from our big group of friends liked it including men.. From the beginning it smells may be all right, but in the heart these very unpleasant cloying notes appear and start to suffocate .. We finally made her get rid of it..

an.jorePipip

Even though Luca Turin said this fragrance is "disappointing" but to my non experienced nose, it smells pleasant! I praise its longevity as well, and thinking to buy it for my sister since she likes Guerlain.

Filomena

This was my first fragrance, got it as a present for my sixteenth birthday. And what a great first fragrance... Joyful mimosa and blackcurrants. A perfect fragrance to remind you of spring.
I had the EDP.

kristalbee

I lived in Paris for 4 years and frequented the Champs elysee regularly -this fragrance encapsulates everything 'bon chic bon genre' - apply it and you're ready to boutique shop till you drop, sip champagne on the boulevard and stroll through the almond blossom lined streets - its a happy uplifting fragrance - light and airy but with a subtle expensive smelling dry down that is totally appropriate for formal daytime wear. Buy the EDP - much richer smell with good staying power - the EDT fades very quickly and is best used as a body mist after shower before applying the EDP -its GORGEOUS!!

smell like Paris Yves Saint Laurent + kenzo d'ete

persefoni

incredibly long lasting, and surely one of the happiest, sweetest perfumes i've ever worn.. it also has a calming effect on me and those around me...

Migalex

To me it smells very much of natural almond, with sort of a green quality, but not the sickeningly sweet and cloying almond lots of perfumes these days smell of. This one is different and quite tolerable. I do not find it particularly appealing or interesting though.

monica0106

love it~simple,bright-->happy❤

French Boudoir Doll

When I first fell in love with Champs Elysees <3<3<3
On this first hot and sultry night in Germany....oh so close to Paris!....
oh Champs Elysees~

kxnaiades

a delicate perfume, perfect for the day. sweet soft smells of fresh clean florals

kayka

i don't like it....too much flower.

kathy.garriott.7

Lilacs, lilacs--I love lilacs, and that's what I smell with this perfume. I love reading the reviews here, and I'm coming to the conclusion that my nose is not very sophisticated.

kkw80

I was given this when I was in my late teens. I disliked it from the start. Screechy alcoholic berries (for some reason I get raspberry, although it's not in the notes) and flowers. Nothing interesting about it. I've still got the bottle, but should flog it, really.

kosmoskukka

For me Champs-Elysees is a springtime scent. Reminds me of sparkling good moods and happy feel. Mimosa is wonderfull in it. I think this is wonderfull daytime scent. If You love Yvresse, I think You love Champs-Elysees too. This have been in my collection as long as Guerlain launched this sunny Beauty, and I will always keep one bottle on my shelf. And if necessary will purhcase extra bottle if they will discontinue.

Pinja

While I do not love the perfume there is a thing about it that I like. In this world where marketing persists that being sexy is the top priority of life for women, it is really great to encounter a perfume which does not try to be sexy. At all.
This is a most unerotic perfume, and I'm glad such a thing exists.

Thalia

I received a bottle of Champs Elysees from a kind Fragrantica member, and I can see why so many lovers of the classic Guerlains are dismayed by this one. There is nothing rigorously elegant or devastatingly chic about it – Champs Elysees is a fluffy bunny of a scent.

It opens with high-pitched, airy sweet florals (the melon and peach don’t smell overtly fruity, but I think they’re sweetening the mix), a giddy pastel burst of soft mimosa and lilac. The progression brings in some nice richness of almond and benzoin and the peach gets more acidic, but it remains light and bright and cheerful. The mimosa and lilac never fade away throughout the life of the fragrance, and the whole composition has a sparkling, fizzy effervescent quality.

Wearing Champs Elysees is like wearing an angora sweater and giggling a lot. That doesn’t mean it’s junk, though – it smells like a high-quality perfume. The florals are rich and complex, it never evokes artificial fruit flavoring or cleaning products, and it has massive presence and longevity.

I’m not really a fluffy bunny kind of girl, but this scent is just spring fever in a bottle, and I enjoy it thoroughly on occasion. In fact, I've been wearing it this spring, and enjoying it, much more than I expected to. And I know for sure what I’ll be wearing for Easter!

reborn

at the beggining smells very very sour, absolutely not good, but when this sourness fade away is very very nice.Mild flowers, feminine, warm, sunny and positive. It smells in the dry down like an expensive cream with little honey

LaUna

beautiful clean and fresh floral.
creamy and powdery.
violets-peony-roses-anise-lilacs-cedar> dominating notes
such a great name for such a pretty smelling perfume!
silage is great too, 6-7 hours
again nicely done house of Guerlain!

SadieBluesLady

Another boring ho-hum scent from Guerlain, even less 'whelming' than the others I have tried during the past year. It is vaguely reminiscent of a faded scent found in the lining of a ladies purse from the 1940's . . . sweet, powdery, but without significant appeal or identifiable note.

drummagick

I'm wearing this on the back of my hand and wanting to hate it because almonds don't belong in perfume, but damned if it isn't growing on me. I get mimosa first and then almonds, then lilac. One of the more unusual perfumes I've ever smelled, with the almond note (No I don't get to the perfume counters much) ;)

A nice spring perfume. Inoffensive. I could see wearing this to the office, but only one spritz.

Getting some fruit now. The peach and slight hint of melon with the mimosa and lilac is really quite lovely.

I am really liking this. But almonds still don't belong in perfume. lol

Dika

Happy, positive, sparkling, "Spring in the bottle" fragrance. Surprisingly long silage. Very nice.

artsyrn

This is a soft, pretty fragrance with subtle but genuine sillage. I get a woody, almond, peachy effect that's very feminine and chic.
