If I spray this incorrectly, it will make me nauseous. Instead of focusing on my pulse points and spraying a concentrated amount, I spray far away and let the mist fall on to me. It works because I only wear this fragrance at bedtime anyway. It smells like bubble bath to me. Its a like, not a love.

marialena888m

Heavy floral and non-sweet berries with a powdery, ‘disinfectant’ feel to it. I use it to spray my living room, and it smells like the floors have just been mopped with Violet scented Dettol, and someone nearby just got out of the shower and powdered herself with blueberry talc from the 90s. It feels heavy and oppressive when worn on my body, but makes my home smell clean and fancy (way, way too expensive for this purpose). It smells like what you’d imagine an old, well-cared for mansion (French colonial style) with a large garden would smell like, it smells like the interior of that mansion after a full day of spring cleaning, not the person living in it. I actually wouldn’t be put off smelling this on someone in cold weather (as long as they didn’t overspray), it just smells strongly of ‘clean, powdery, elegant’ in the air, violet-berry scented, nothing crazy or offensive. But I’m so angry with myself that I wasted my money on this. I tried so hard to like this, and would even lie to myself that I just need time to appreciate it, or that maybe I should just let it ‘macerate’ for awhile in the back of my wardrobe. Well, it’s been a year, and I’m just going to face the fact that I cannot wear this stuff and I hate that I purchased it. I will never let a YouTuber make me blind buy anything ever again.

Electric candied violets, and I love it. It gives off kind of a youthful, playful, feminine vibe even though I wouldn't call it a "young person's perfume." I've gotten chased down the street wearing this. Not lying...a Parisian woman needed to know if it was Guerlain because she doesn't smell it often in NYC. I've gotten many compliments on this one. It's beautiful.

Cute, classy, ethereal, innocent.
It has a great combination of floral violet, powdery iris, sweet fruity berry and clean orange blossom. I would understand why someone would call this old fashioned, because it doesn't exactly smell modern. It smells like it's made of good quality ingredients and is timeless. I keep coming back to this and I am amazed every time I put it on. It makes me think of fairies, pixie dust and the color purple. Will repurchase!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is the best violet fragrance. This is a gorgeous ethereal powdery scent. It smells so comforting and clean. Like a soapy bubble bath scented with violet soap. The red berries also add a gorgeous sweetness and juiciness to this fragrance. 🪻🫧🛁🍓

It is extremely long lasting and projects strongly. Even though it is an EDT, it performs better than most of my EDP’s.

I am cherishing my gorgeous bee bottle, because once it finishes I won’t be able to own the same delicate packaging again. I think this was the best packaging by far, not sure why they changed it. But at least the juice inside is the same.

If you love violet centred powdery scents, you will LOVE this one.

compared to the EDP, the insolence EDT is brighter, soapier, an octave higher in pitch; it smells refreshing, modern and a tad less powdery than the EDP, but still very violet-forward. i'm unsure which reformulation of both scents i own, but i can detect an orange blossom note in the EDT that makes it sunnier and more open, complementing the glowing guerlain heart notes very well.

oddly enough it's stronger in sillage than the EDP on my skin. i think i might prefer it? i do enjoy the vintage melancholy vibe of the EDP as well, so it's hard to pick a favourite.

Artemisa1968

Long lasting great sillage, soft slightly powdery, one of my favourites.

Child Chemist

It always wears better than I expect. I picture mini flower-shaped hand soaps. The edp is softer.

Was checking and buying some fragrances with my friend at the mall, came across Guerlain fragrance counter. As a guy, I mainly checked on men fragrances. However, I had most of the ones I like already, the sale lady asked me to check on some female fragrances since they smell kinda unisex to her nose and some other customers. So I checked on them, and I am totally obsessed with these two, Insolence EDT and Mandarin Basilic. Especially with Insolence EDT, it is fresh, sweet and lightly powdery, and fruity; leaning more feminine but boy, I like it so much. It's giving a clean girl/boy aesthetics to me, it's giving the scent of freedom and effortlessness. I brought the test trip home, I kept on smelling it, it was like something new to me, should I wear it or not? It was so strong, only a few sprays on the test trip yet it filled my entire room for the whole evening. Then, I forgot about it. A week later, I came across my fragrance cabinet, I got a whiff of something creamy and powdery in the air. Immediately, I remembered Insolence, sniffed at the test trip again, the scent was still there, clean airy violet candy, so beautiful and addictive. I just ordered a bottle online before writing this review, can wait to wear it, I hope on a guy, the scent would smell a little bit more masculine, but whatever, I am flamboyant, the scent is definitely for me lol.

nanaa_from_ghana

I prefer this one over the EDP. The EDP is a bit too powdery for me and gives me too much of a vintage vibe. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it makes it harder for me to want to wear…

The EDT on the other hands feel much more modern and wearable. It has essentially the same violet-iris-powder vibe, but the red berries add a beautiful sweetness (similar to the EDP) and the orange blossom adds a nice touch of soapy, white floral. The OB is what really distinguishes the two and makes me really like the EDT.

It’s quite strong for an EDT, with great projection and longevity. I feel like it’ll be appropriate to wear year round, but will work best in spring and fall. I’m happy to have gotten my hands on a partial OG bee bottle (and for a great price) and I’m excited to wear it when it gets a bit warmer. It’s not a love for me, but it is a strong like so far.

Heavenly Heather

I find this very powerful for an EDT. In the opening you get sweet berries, lots of orange blossom, and violets. It truly does remind me of parma violet candies. It’s a standout.. I’m not sure if it fits my personality but it’s beautiful. As it settles you do get a ton of powdery notes but that sweetness remains. I heard Mila LeBlanc say that it smells arrogant in one of her reviews and I kinda have to agree with her. I definitely don’t get ethereal fairy vibes from this as I’ve heard some others say.

cypriotsister

Been scrounging for backup bottles of this since the reformulation. I smelt the newer version in Harrods and it was so obviously and disappointingly different. Very watered down and faint with a hint of strawberry.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

I adore this scent! It's a very realistic violet perfume with lots of sweetness. It has a slight vintage lipstick smell to it too that reminds me of Guerlain's Metéorites. I can smell some of the orange blossom and red berries in there too, but I mostly get the violet and iris in this perfume. Overall I'd call it a sweet and slightly fruity violet and iris perfume.

It reminds me a bit of Lipstick Rose by Frédéric Malle, which I also love. Feminine and divine!

lyrily

Only bother with this if you like orange blossom, because it smacks you in the face. From the bottle it smells amazing, but on the skin its so heavy with the orange blossom for the first hour or so, which is sadly one of my most disliked notes.

marialena888m

At first I smell aggressive orange blossom with a lot of powdery violets. The opening is indeed quite insolent, true to its name! Thankfully, that calms down and I mostly get powdery violets (Iris + violet) thereafter, with orange blossom pushed into the background (still present, orange blossom here provides a sharp soapy backbone to the scent). Not too much berries either. It’s only slightly sweet…but then again, I own so many modern ‘sweet’ fruity/vanilla scents, this is not at all sweet in comparison, so if you’re expecting anything close to that level of sweetness, you will be disappointed, it is ‘clean powder-bomb floral (violet) with a hint of natural berry sweetness’. The sillage is elegant, distinctive, with a ‘better-than-thou’ aura, very feminine in a prim, ‘old world’ way, it’s not a scent to sniff upclose (like detergent powder), so don’t judge it by that. ‘Vintage’ is the best way to describe it, vintage but modern rather than outdated. Neither youthful nor mature but somewhere inbetween. I imagine a beautifully ‘proper’ Victorian-era lady powdering her face and getting ready for afternoon tea in the garden with her friends. It’s like something Emily Brontë or Jane Austen characters would smell like. It’s not bad, but where are the ‘fairies’?? No fairy dust here either, if you want fairy princess, pixies and sparkly fairy dust, just go for Lolita Lempicka. Insolence doesn’t smell ‘candied’ to me either, nothing in here even hints at ‘candy’ of any sort (except maybe Parma violets that’s been crushed into a powder? But the orange blossoms stop it from smelling like candy). This scent is way too present and strong to be considered ethereal in any way. Sillage + longevity is simply excellent for an EdT. I just need to be in the right mood to wear it, it’s not a ‘dumb-reach’ or easy scent for me, personally speaking. Has the potential to be offensive, obnoxiously powdery, and headache inducing if oversprayed or worn in very closed spaces, so becareful.

Inezkie

Does anyone know where you can still get the bee version of the bottle in Belgium? Smelled the perfume once and loved it but I don't like the new version of the bottle at all...

HoneyRum

It smells sweet but clean and musky (I don’t smell musk but it gives that kind of vibe) it’s really nice but not my style. Glad I tried it though!

takema

Insolence is a lovely, vintage style fragrance. Though it is a modern fragrance, it smells like something from years gone by. While I find it vintage, I also think it is quite youthful. It smells like something young women wore, long ago. I imagine a young woman in a long flowy pastel coloured dress walking through a field of wildflowers would smell like this. It's soft, feminine and romantic. I have a few versions of this fragrance and they all give me this impression even though they do smell a bit different from one another.

The EDT in the bee bottle is bright, candied violets. This version is the least powdery of the versions I own. Here the candied violets are more crystalized hard candy sugar than powdered sugar. There is a bright freshness that I don't get from the EDP or the older formulation of the EDT (UFO/flower bottle). This is a pretty linear fragrance that changes very little throughout the wear.

My favourite time to wear all of my Insolence fragrances in the spring, this is the one that I also enjoy once it gets a bit warmer in the early summer. It stays light and airy while the others can get a bit heavy and suffocating with the powder, in too much heat. It is pleasant enough in cooler weather, I am just not inspired to wear it when it's cold outside.

The performance is good, lasting aroung 6 or 7 hours with a moderate projection, right around arms length. I find the EDT does projects a little more than the EDP, but not a huge amount more.

I also reviewed the EDP and talked about the differences between the Insolences I own. I will copy and paste that section below, for anyone interested.

I own the EDT in both the bee bottle and UFO bottles and the EDP in the bee bottle ( I haven't tried the older EDP). I find the differences among the three are subtle enough that most people will find having more than one version of Insolence (EDP/EDT) redundant. I do notice differences when I smell them side by side. The EDP is smoother and richer, while the EDT is brighter...when comparing bee bottle to bee bottle. I find the EDT projects more than the EDP, but the have similar longevity. The differences between the two EDT version is I smell the resins in the UFO bottle, but I never really notice the resins, even in the drydown of the bee bottle. I don't know if the difference is because the UFO bottle has aged or if the resins really are toned down or even absent in the current formulation. I notice those deeper base notes aren't listed for the new version.

For a while it was pretty easy to find Insolence quite discounted, but it is getting harder to find. Recently I saw that Guerlain has again changed the packaging and the newest bottles are similar to the La Petite Robe Noir bottles.

prava.slava.mama

Oh man… I really really want to like Guerlain fragrances! They always *sound* so wonderful, and those bee bottles give me heart eyes. I can’t say I like this one though. Violet candy (yum!) over something just weird. It’s like you sprayed really sweet perfume over B.O. I still sniff my decant from time to time but don’t reach for it. There are other violet perfumes I like better.

Edit: I’m trying my sample again as I write this and the stanky, weird note is not noticeable at the moment… maybe it comes and goes. It’s REALLY sweet though; my kiddo wandered in when I was wearing it and asked for some of my cake! 😂

Coffeeandscents

I took a chance and blind bought this from the Guerlain website and I’m so happy I did!! When i wear this i feel like i am floating on a cloud of sugared berries and powdery violets. Love at first sniff. I get the imagery of magical fairies and pixie dust. This is still sold on the Guerlain website in a different shaped bottle with the same scent. The longevity is amazing for an EDT, I get a full 8 hour day of wear from this.

kiraagold

Scintillating strawberry baby powder.
Brilliant, with a delicate dissonance that shifts between sparkling floral dust and sweet berry syrup, for hours and hours.
Chaotic, with the lure of a candy shaped bar of soap, and easily worn by anyone from age 9 to 90–

–unless if you happened to be in elementary school in 1980.
Because this smells exactly like Strawberry Shortcake doll hair.

belinda.1

Review from a sample. I disliked it in the vial - I get some strong sour-cherry in there which I can't cope with. I like it more out of the vial - it's now a cold zingy complex floral. As it dries down the cherry note comes back - a bit like old-fashioned lipstick.

CeeTee

I reviewed this when I originally received it from Guerlain.com in the new inverted heart bottle. I’m re-reviewing it because my opinion changed after I stashed it for a couple of months.

It’s what everyone describes. BUT, I am surprised by how strong the berry note shines through. It’s a raspberry powder bomb to me. It’s obnoxiously powdery, but in a fun and lively way. It performs well, but different than I expected. Really loud for a couple of hours. But then it becomes much more subtle after 2 hours (on me.) It does linger into the next day though.

For me, it’s a novelty. I don’t reach for it often, but it does make me happy and fairy-ish when I wear it. For me, it’s a fun wear and I enjoy having it. Priced well.

jbsherry

Another recent blind buy of mine. I knew it was a risk but based on the notes I had a feeling I would like it. Luckily I was correct.

Candied violets with cosmetic/powdery nuances through and through. I get juicy berries on the opening, which is quite strong at first and borders on overwhelming, but it mellows after about 5 minutes. Then it goes straight to the heart of violet, so it’s pretty linear. It’s a sugary, confectionery violet, yet still inedible.

I am really enjoying wearing it around the house, but I am having difficulty placing where I would wear it out. It feels more suited for daytime and spring. Performance and projection are quite strong.

Feminine, charming, somewhat old-fashioned, yet not dated. I find it unique compared to the popular fruitchoulis of today. I do agree with other reviewers that it is not an “inviting” scent, so it could be perceived as a bit cold/stoic. But I ultimately am not too bothered by it not being a pleaser.

Insolence is not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you like violets and cosmetic notes it’s a must try. Guerlain has yet to disappoint me!

the_gunner

I really wanted to like it but to me, it smells exactly like detergents.

I wish there is more to add but it smells exactly like that.

Sirena78

I loved the bottle but the juice was something like old Coty face powder. I really wanted to like it or even appreciate it but the smell was so off putting. I tried it on clothing and skin, in hot and cold weather, and just could not get past what smelled like fake violet with powder. I can understand how some people might like this. Scent is such a subjective thing. How fragrances interact with our chemistry is complex and this does't work for me in any way other than the bottle is aesthetically pleasing. This and Alien are the only two perfumes that I have come across so far that I just can not get on board with at all. Such a shame. I blind bought my bottle and after my tries decided to give it to someone who would appreciate in it what I could not.

DebiL1211

I love this perfume. I have the 2017 formulation in the UFO bottle.
I am an oversprayer but not with this one. Four sprays is my maximum.
I enjoy this one at bedtime. It is just this slightly powdery gently sweetened violet.
It lasts about 6 hours on my skin when sprayed over unscented lotion. It doesn't really project but I am fine with that.

Search and Discover

Herbal cough syrup. I had high hopes for this one after reading the previous reviews and the seemingly cult following for discontinued versions of Insolence. Found a reasonable EDT online and blind bought. Very surprised at the strong medicinal smell after spraying, which continued for a few hours. The only reason I consider this as wearable is that it dries down after ~12 hours to a lovely skin scent that is sweet and romantic (similar to biting into a violet macaron). Otherwise, if you left the house wearing this people would either think you were medicating or had borrowed an article of clothing out of the back of your grandmother's (mothballed) closet ....

N.B.: I have never encountered a "parma violet" or "violet candy" as mentioned below, so I can't speak to that comparison. But I think the purple jujube comments could be accurate.

lovealwaysalisa

Nice powdery candied violet scent in a beautiful frosted glass bottle but I never reach for it. It's not quite "me". Would be beautiful in the spring on someone who fits it. Gives me an old time Victorian vibe or something. I will be decluttering mine unfortunately.

strawbrrymelk

Sold out everywhere :(

KaitlynL

If I smelled this on someone else, I'd definitely tell them they smelled good - which I feel is a good quality in a perfume. Really though, I'd assume that the wearer smells naturally good.
It's fresh, sweet, and more fruity than I expected. Kind of smells like candy, without being overbearing. I don't find this scent particularly mature despite the powdery notes that may lead others to assume that.

Ali Langer

Apparently I’m weird, because I’m in my twenties and I absolutely adore this perfume. I don’t find it “dated” at all. But I’d also be surprised to smell it on, say, a teenager, because it’s a lot different than what many stereotypically “young” perfumes smell like. I say, wear what makes you happy, though. No matter your age or gender!

As far as the actual smell goes, Insolence EDT is positively delightful. Yes, it’s powdery from the violet and iris, but not nauseatingly so, and it also has this sparkling berry-floral sweetness that I can’t get enough of. The composition as a whole makes me think of fairies, so whoever initially said that this fragrance is one that a fairy would wear, you are 100% correct. The fragrance is cute and sweet and sparkly, sure, but mischievous as well—just like a fairy.

Performance is good, and I can see this working great in fall, winter, and spring. I don’t think I would personally wear it in summer, but at the same time, I can see this being someone’s year-round signature. It just depends on the person. I think I’ll be wearing this a lot come springtime, though.

Skinterpreter

At first, when I got this fragrance, smelling it was rather an unpleasant experience. It felt way too soapy, almost fresh and not powdery or sweet at all. I asked myself, where is the violet/iris powderiness, where is the berry sweetness?
However, I tried it couple of times, waiting for the proper drydown and only then I realized how pretty and powdery this fragrance is, smelling like an actual high end cosmetic product, or compact powder. Only then I realized that the raspberry and iris are actually there and that the soapy freshness coming in the opening comes from violet. Actually, now I don't perceive the soapy note as much as I did before.
The longevity and projection are very good and this perfume is so admired by one of my colleagues at work. :) overall, it's very nice, and I like the bee bottle, too. A susscesfull blind buy, after all!

baraninka1987

After 15 minutes it turned into this mouth watering sour powdered sweets smell. I get a lot of violets ( candied not fresh) and fresh tart raspberry. Definitely powdery but not very sweet fragrance. For some reason makes me salivate 😂 ( must be a good thing) It’s unique and I love it 🥰 It has some romantic and vintage vibe about it.
( the fragrance in the new spade top bottle) on my skin it lasts 4-5h on the clothes around 8-10 wchich is pretty good for edt.

Update: I am in love with this fragrance and I can’t live without it 😍😍😍😍 I will be buying a edp soon as well 😍

shancat

I love this! I'm a sucker for Violet based fragrances and this is wonderful. I love the red berries with the powdery violet. It's strong and don't think younger women might like. I'm 57 and just adore it. Have Meteorites also, pretty but can barely smell it. The compacts used on my face smell much longer than the perfume. Very impressed with the Insolence.

Zombie Apocalypse

Sigh..... blind bought a small bottle due to alot of hype on YT. Should have noticed that most everyone had a full bottle. Barely used. This scent for me is almost unwearable. Based on the notes alone it appears like something I would like. However to me it smells like intense artificial bathroom potpurri. This is not a safe blind buy and also IMO not office appropriate.

Carolina27

This is my all time favorite. Absolutely love it ❤

FleurBelle

I bought this in the new heart bottle. While I absolutely love the fragrance, I am super disappointed by the lack of longevity and projection. The sillage is okay right after spraying, but disappears super fast. Around 2 hours after spraying generously, my roommate had to get right next to me to detect the fragrance. I sprayed some on my wrist 2 hours ago and I have to press my nose into my skin to smell the fragrance.

When I tested it a few times in a local department store (from the bee bottle), my friend smelled it a few feet away from me through her mask after I had sprayed on my wrist. I had a similar experience of my own after the tests, I could smell it all day and randomly through my mask. I first got interested in this gorgeous fragrance because of people either raving or complaining about the huge longevity and sillage, so I am sad and disappointed. I'm wondering if my bottle is from a bad batch (the batch code is real and the shop is reputable, so it's not a fake).

Fragrancewonder

Not a love or a hate, but a like for me. It's a strong powdery bomb that's soft and Angelic. You don't need to overspray this one and it's long lasting.

Unfortunately, my fiance doesn't like it, as he thinks that it smells too mature. So I tend to layer this with a spicy fragrance to cut some of the powder. No complains from him with that combo.

Pusur

I am absolutely obsessed with this one. I blind-bought Eau de toilette and Eau de perfume. I knew the first one from how it smelled on my work colleague and friend. When she wore it first tim and some weeks later I was so provoked how obsessively irritating this scent is ;) But with time I fell completely in love. I have changed my job so now I could try this scent on me. You know how it is; kind of kode: you dont use perfume someone else wears, at least it is like this for me. Anyway I didnt know how this scent will work on my skin but luckily both go well. At first both seemed to be so alike but their are not. EtT is more fruity on me, and EtP reacher and sweeter. But gosh, those adjectives say so little about these two george us scents... They are just so unique in the world of unity and easy expectations. Of course maybe fact that I am over 40 (more than less :D) has something to do with that I dont give a damn and wear what I want ;) - I mean also scent what are challenging, that demand their attention.

cjoudas

Insolence was a blind buy that I so desperately wanted to like, but on me it's a baby wipe for a couple hours before mellowing out into a slightly tangy powder. Womp womp.

Dramaloladiva

This is so soft and pretty! It is so feminine, dainty and at the same time alluring. To my nose, this evokes a sunny Spring morning, vibrant with life and promises! It makes me smile : ) towards the middle/end, there is powdery-ness and sweetness but it isn’t at all overwhelming. It’s there but in the background.

I blind bought this and I couldn’t be happier to have made that purchase! I love florals and this is perfect!!

One spray seems to last all day, I wouldn’t douse myself in it because it truly isn’t necessary.

This is a very very very floral perfume so if violets, irises and white flowers aren’t your thing, avoid it...

kimdracula_xo

If I had to put an image to this scent, I'd say Alice Cullen listening to Cocteau Twins in a spring meadow lol

This scent is so pretty <3 Softly sweet & clean + very whimsical, feminine, dreamy, & addictive - 100% like candied violets + fresh laundry. If you dislike powdery or bubble bath-esque fragrances, you'll hate this. In cold weather or sprayed in the air/ on clothes, it may seem a bit more powdery & mature, but this blooms and sweetens up in warm weather/ sprayed directly onto the skin. I like wearing this in the spring and summer best + I find it very soothing to wear to bed year-round.

The bottle I have is the original bee bottle; I have no idea if the formulation has changed with the new packaging or not.

Juspaigeme

I often hear it described as what a fairy in an enchanted forrest would smell like, which is a weird way to describe it but it’s definitely accurate. This smells exactly like candied violets! It’s a beautiful blend of violets, iris, red berries, and orange blossom. It’s powdery, floral, light & fresh. It’s playful and sophisticated which makes it perfect for any age to wear. I chose the eau de toilette because I heard it’s slightly sweeter than the edp and even though it’s an EDT it definitely performs like an EDP. I really enjoy wearing this and if you like powdery, sweet scents then I’m sure you’ll like it too!

QueenieIrenie

After swearing off any more blind buys, I saw rave reviews for this one and then saw it at an irresistible price at an online retailer and couldn’t resist. My initial thought after the first spritz was “oh no, what have I done?” I didn’t love it, and wasn’t sure if I even liked it. It was so sour from the red berries. But after a few minutes it developed more into the candied violet smell that everyone described and it was much more pleasant. Someone below mentioned jujubes and that is pretty spot on! The more it dried down on me, the more I developed a love for it. There is something vintage about it, I feel like I’ve smelled this before (maybe the violet reminds me of old-school lipstick) but it’s not old or dated. It’s such a beautiful, comforting smell. I find myself craving this scent. For an EDT, the projection and longevity are phenomenal. One of my more successful blind buys!

Mrs_McSnifferson

At first spray I thought, well this isnt insolent at all. This is demure, prim, and almost annoyingly proper. This is downright obedient! I will have to put a little short skirt on this poser and make her listen to joan jett until she learns what insolence means!
Then I thought , ooh I bet this is what the queens fabric softener smells like. I bet this is the perfume that you receive as a gift when the queen is your aunt and she invites you to ride horses and shoot things and make fun of prince Philips kilt at Balmoral for your birthday. Then I thought , oh yes and fairies definitely wear this too yes. Then it got REALLY magical and I thought..this is wrong. I shouldn't be loving this so much. Please stop. Please. Stop...please don't stop..please

Then I realized how this was created. I got an image in my mind of a quite insolent 4 year old son of master French perfumers mixing grape koolaid , top quality French body powder, some violets, and some (way too many) tart berries on the floor in the midst of a temper tantrum that he got put on time out for and then was promptly ignored and left to his own devices. His rebellious long blonde hair that he won't let his mom cut blows in the wind majestically , heroically as his mother walks in and pops off something that's French for "you little shit what did you do!"

And he just smiles. Calm and in control of his own genius destiny, he just waits for her to reckanize

The fairies giggle

They should have called it fairy giggles

That is insolence edt .

It is smugly proper. Sexily vintage. Sharp, sweet, soft, powdery, bold, edgy. violet. Purple. Tart. Commanding. Addicting. This perfume is in charge and she got that way by slipping her pretty little classic well behaved foot in the door and you were blindsided by how adorable and feminine her little foot was and then the rest of her subtly vampy self sashayed in..jessica rabbit in an almost buttoned up cashmere cardigan ..the natural beauty checkout girl whose eclectic and masterful style is a little vintage because she respects everyone who came before her but who definitely got a big dose of the talent for style that they themselves had... That edgy hairstylist you feel so inadequate next to that all the guys drool over cuz she's edgy candy coating over a sweet classically feminine heart and they know it but they also see that she's way too smart to allow any but the highest quality best pedigreed man to court her. Schwing!

She doesn't engage in rowdy jokes with the guys but she at times tolerates them as she knows boys will be boys. She only throws out an ambiguously clever and vaguely naughty entendre once per evening so they appreciate her humor while understanding that she is not one of them.

Oh yeah she is insolent. In ways that you weren't even ready for. Oh you want a 50s classic perfume? Something a housewife would like, you say? Well alllllrighty. I got your classic perfume right here.

You don't have to like her but you will respect her. She is my spring summer signature forever. One of the two scents I can't live without. The other being petit fracas in cold weather.

Shes got a crew that hangs out. You know. A small squad. They are *almost* as quality, *almost* as coolly dominant as she is, but they'll never be her. They bask in her orbit and occasionally stand in for her when for the sake of mystery she retires to her chambers. Aqua parma rose nobile stands in for the queen once in a while. She is elegant in a Grace Kelly way and a little imposing but lacks the "little tart" vibe. Pun kind of intended. She's stately and shes arrived thats for sure but you just don't crave her the same way. Tous floral touch is a crowd favorite while it's hot out and the queen gets her beauty rest . she is vivacious and generally pleasing. She comes down from the balcony and pops over to your cottage for tea and to share gossip from the palace. She makes funny faces for your pictures and posts on your Twitter when you leave your phone unguarded. You very much like her and she added you on her private Facebook thats under her pseudonym. She doesn't quite scratch that itch though. Yves rocher cerisier in bloom is a quiet and dignified stand in when everyone else is busy. She's a content little bench warmer mostly but she can be counted on to represent Fairyland in a solid way. She never makes waves but she does make cookies with all the little children in the palace, treating the princes and princesses exactly the same as the maids children. She doesnt see how its good to act like some people are better than others. She doesn't get the class thing. The children learn more from her when she boops them on their noses with flour-y fingers than they do when the prime minister comes for a meeting. She's very fair and they are relieved to not have to follow any protocol in her presence. Shes a safe but still young grandma who wisely shows them the value of sensible boundaries and quality relationships.
But there is only one queen. 👑

As some people say, this fragrance makes one feel like in a fairy tale and for that reason to me the name does not suit the fragrance at all. It is not a complex or deep scent. To me it smells basically of violets, sweetened and with the green edge I find in violet scent softened. I can also smell a subtle woodiness enveloping the other notes, but at the same time very noticeable. I find it a bit flat, but not as much as the EDP. It is very sweet, but not in a cloying way. As I said, it is a simple scent, but if one likes violets, there is no reason not to like it. I find it adorable. And another positive side of this fragrance is that it is really powerful, although to me not as powerful as the edp, although I know that other people find the edt more powerful. As for the scent itself, I prefer the edt because it is smoother, more rounded, and to me better blended. It may sound like an innocent little fragrance, but it is a violet bomb.

petalsandpotion

Kept thinking this smells like something familiar but couldn't place it for the longest time. Then tonight after doing the dishes and smelling my hands it hit me, dish soap!!! Went up to my bottle and sniffed it then my hand again to be sure, and yes! The green "original" Palmolive to be exact. A really concentrated version. I still love it 🤷🏼♀️

cassiesta

I can see how people say this is what a fairy smells like. It's powdery and sweet on top of the red berries and violet.

I bought this one because I read it was lighter than the EDP and found it for a great deal (1.6 oz). I was curious about the difference, and bought the EDP too (1.6 oz). I think they're practically the same, but I prefer the EDP. If I had to compare to the EDP, I'd say the EDT is airier and lighter on the woodsy notes but the red berries are more pronounced. I am glad I bought the EDP too because I like it better. It might be worth having both if you wear it all the time. I like to switch my perfume up every day and space out when I rewear perfumes by at least a couple of weeks because I just get that bored with it I need some time away to appreciate it again. So I don't know if it's worth having both for me, maybe with the slight nuance. Only time will tell.

Also I forgot to say, that having this and the EDP the pink of this and the purple juice of the EDP in the frosty bottles looks cool on my dresser, especially the purple.

aquariusvenus

After reading the reviews, I thought it was going to be so right up my alley that I blind bought it. I thought that it would be clean, fresh, powdery, sweet and a little fruity with a vintage feel.

The only bottle I could find was the new bottle that looks like the bottles of Mitsouko, L’Heure Bleue and La Petite Robe Noire. There’s a new page on Fragrantica for this new bottle, and that says that the notes are violet, red fruits, orange blossom, iris, tonka bean, sandalwood and vanilla… on the website, where they have it in the new bottle, it says that the notes are the same as they are on the page for the bee bottle: violet, berry notes, orange blossom and iris.

I definitely get some sandalwood, which nobody seem to have gotten with the bee bottle, which could suggest that it has been reformulated since they relaunched it in a new bottle. I also get the red berries and violet, and those are great, but I would have liked it more without the sandalwood. It's still nice, but I probably won't buy it again.

When I read about the Insolence from 2008, I remember some people say that Insolence reminded them of laundry detergent, which I get! This does smell like laundry detergent – I think it’s the red berries; they smell a little synthetic to me – but not in a bad way, if that makes sense. If I smelled this on someone, I wouldn’t think “oh, what perfume is she wearing?” but probably “oh, she smells lovely, she smells so clean and fresh!”

xmikax

This is one of my favorite perfumes ever, along with Ariana Grande’s Cloud, JPG Classique EDT, and Jadore.

This is EXACTLY what a fairy would smell like. A sparkling fairy surrounded by pink bubbles and sparkles and sunshine and fluffy cotton candy clouds. This is a bright, clean, sweet, powdery, floral scent. It’s youth and innocence. This is a good girl perfume. This is a fairy’s perfume. And it’s so unique. I’ve never smelled anything even close to it. Super distinguishable. If this is your signature scent, anyone who smells this will remember you forever and they’ll know you’ve been somewhere if they smell this in a room. I love this so much.

MissAnnette

I have both the edp (in original bottle) and the edt (in bee bottle). The edt is more wearable than the edp. The edp is gorgeous but it makes me feel queasy when I wear it in the morning. The edt has all the powdery goodness of the edp but it is sweeter and brighter. It doesn’t have the sillage and longevity of the edp but it performs better than most of my edp. I like to layer it with Cottage Violette body milk to make it last even longer.

bodnerrachel

This is a lighter version of the eau de parfum. They are both stunning and gorgeous. If you've never worn Insolence before, give yourself time to appreciate this special powdery iris, violet, berry potion. Because it is stunning. It completely carries you away. Spray it on at bedtime and wake up happy, dancing with butterflies! ;) Enjoy Perfumistas!

greensleeves2

This smells like either the purple or red jujubes. Which I LOVE, I love jujubes so I think it is fantastic.

maradio

This is probably going to be one of the hardest perfumes to describe, and it really isn't that complex. But the feelings it evokes are massive. I bought this based on the reviews, I'm not a big fan of violet or iris so this was quite the risk, and I was oh so pleasantly surprised. Do you remember those violet candies that your grandmother always had in her home? I believe you can actually still buy them today. Well that scent is prominent here. It is like sugary violets, with a bit of iris I suppose though I don't find it to stand out much, and that heavenly orange blossom scent wafting through it. This scent is powdery and some might call it mature but I disagree. To me this scent is the transition from girlhood to womanhood, while you are still holding on to your youth but you are now the independent woman you've always dreamed of being. It is youthful and playful with it's sugary tips, and the powder is so delightful it's like the passing of the torch from your grandmother to you as you are now the new matriarch of the family and you must have something of the past. All the while you are holding onto that carefree wild spirit found with sucking on your favorite candies from your childhood. I don't know what I'm even saying anymore, but god do I love this fragrance. Every morning I smell the nozzle for the nostalgia and the unknowing feeling of the future this scent simultaneously evokes within me. It's absolutely beautiful.

Shwets

In the older bottle I loved the edp and wasnt keen on the edt. However with the bee bottles, it's the opposite!
The edt smells different to the older bottle one. In the bee bottle the formula appears to be more rounded and syrupy. It is like the older bottle edp on me. The bee bottle in edp is too strong for my liking and there is a note that I didnt pick up with the older formula. Perhaps it's the iris, which doesnt appeal to me. I dont smell iris in the edt and it is so long lasting. Like edp strength

CRiche

This is a recent discovery of mine. To me it’s nostalgic, comforting, delicious and a real attention grabber. My daughter has a bottle and I just bought one for my mother. 3 generations that love the same perfume! Finally a fragrance purchase that doesn’t break the bank but performs amazing. I’m so sick of spending money on perfumes that last only an hour. This my friends...THIS beautiful purple fairy juice is eternal 💜. It will forever be in my collection.

ceeceelee

I blind bought this and I LOVE it. Not love, LOVE. It's so purple to my nose it's bleeding blue. I can't pick the notes apart, it just comes together to make such a soft purple, powdery, red berry floral. I get the reference to fairies dancing now. I'm ordering the EdP after I finish writing this review.

I'd say this is a safe blind buy if you like iris and violet with powdery finishes. Otherwise test. It's amazingly affordable for the quality. I think it's going to be going out of rotation, so I'm buying the EdP and another EdT.

Katiestark

I have to say I blind bought this and in the beginning I was quite disappointed. However, after I got through the first spray in the first day of wearing it and completely despising it, I woke up the next morning to smell it on a fresh piece of paper and then on my skin. I was pleasantly surprised! It took a little bit of getting used to but it really smells like some thing a Disney princess would wear! I love powdery fragrances but this could be a little too powdery sometimes but overall is so pretty with the red berries and violets. The reason why I was able to give this fragrance another tries because surprisingly I paired this fragrance with dazzled by Paris Hilton and I pair dazzle with anything that I don’t like just to give them a second thought. I have always believed that dazzle by Paris Hilton pairs with literally any fragrance and because it smells so good with dazzle I gave myself another Chance on insolence and I’m so glad I did! Now I do have to be in sort of a mood for insolence but overall every time I smell it I think of the movie that I watch that day and gets so happy because I wore this fragrance on a great day! That’s a thing about fragrances, I para memory with every single one that I have, I hope to never smell a great fragrance on a bad day🤣🤣

Lcprickett

I love this perfume. I’m usually a little nervous to wear powdery scents because on my skin they turn SUPER powdery. But this is gorgeous. It reminds me of candied violets and that orange powder straw candy from when I was a kid but still somehow clean and fresh. It lasts forever on my skin! I think it’s more spring appropriate but could definitely be worn year round

kay the perfume addict

OMG YES, another successful BLIND BUY!! This smells exactly like what the YouTuber, Gabriella Francesca said:
it smells like fairy soap! 😍

It has a clean and fresh vibe to it. On the clothes, it smells like fresh laundery after a few hours! I really like this, never came across a scent like this in my life. Some reviewers said that this is cloyingly sweet, I don't agree with them. I think it has the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. It's very powdery. Violet is the main note in this perfume.

It's a 8,5/10 for me💖

bleuciel

Powdery violets + some fruits. That's it. It has a clean and cold vibe to it. Very recognizable. Lasts very long for an EDT. I don't think it smells granny-ish at all, it's just different to cloyingly sweet trendy scents. I think it's better for hot temperatures. It's very classy. It is not sexy, it does not have a ''come and hug me' appeal, it is not delicious. It is however a bit arrogant I would say, like you know your worth and nobody will tell you otherwise and you don't need sweet comfy scents to make yourself feel better, you are enough and are telling it to the world in a calm standoffish manner.

Azuria518

Literally smells like that old school Violets candy. This perfume is sweet, powdery and yummy. Just don't over spray because it can easily because too much.

S2312

I can't say a lot amazing scent good longevity good sillage and reasonable price ,it's versatile and year round scent ,it's floral powdery and a pit sweet it smells like violet candy love it and it's top 5 for me!

Aikipy

LOVE this perfume, it was love at first sniff! To me it smells more like candied violets, less like powdery iris, but I absolutely adore it! My husband also loved it, and let me tell you, there aren’t many perfumes he likes! So it’s definitely a win! Can’t wait to wear this!

AryanasPerfumes

Very powdery, very sweet , smells like some sort of candy to me , too sweet for my taste

Vibi

Youtube made my buy it. Damn, those girls know how to sell them perfumes on me. But as usually, I don't regret it.

I like violets, iris not so much, but this just works. I adore the opening - it's happy, it's fruity, it's magical. Yes, this fragrance is magical, fairylike - it's not something I would wear every day, not my signature, but I can imagine waking up to a sunny spring morning, spraying this one and just be in a good mood instantly. I just wish it would smell like the opening the whole time, drydown is more soapy and powdery, much less sweet and fruity. I still like it but I enjoy it most at the start. Lady of any age can wear this perfume. As to everyone here, it also reminds me of violet candy.

pintolorelai

First impression about this perfume was very controversial. I would say it's not my type perfume at all, but it has something ..something catchy.
When I smell it, I feel like I am in Paris, in La Belle époque, dancing in the bell room with handsome gentleman.
It's so vintage smell, but also very pure, powdery and super super sweet perfume.

I agree about most comments, that it's not a blind buy perfume. You need to try it before you buy it.
Is it for any age ? I don't think so. It's more 30+ for me.
Is it seductive ? I don't think so, because it has too much sweetness, which can make cause a headache.
With this overspraying is not a good idea.

Original: it smells really something original.
Longevity is more than 6 h. Sillage is also good.
Overall rate : 6 out of 10.

NewToTheGame

Its very unique and it somehow grew on me. I feel like we are all quick to judge this fragrance as outdated but its has a certain charm to it. Im 25 and honestly I would rock this perfume since its so different from anything else i have ever smelt.

ezpz

This is another "YouTube made me buy it" fragrance--specifically Mila LeBlanc! I've purchased several perfumes based on her reviews and most have gone well, including this one.

This is not a safe blind buy if you have a strong dislike of powdery scents--baby powder, baby oil, some face powders, some deodorants for women, some classic perfumes--if these give you a headache, etc., you should smell this one before you purchase.

All that being said, I DID blind buy it against advice, but was pleasantly surprised. It is SUPER powdery, but it is also light and fresh. At first I wasn't sure about it, but it has really grown on me. It has a very innocent lightness about it and doesn't seem as if it would be sensual or intriguing, but this is one my husband consistently notices and positively comments on. Any age can wear this. The powder leans more toward Smarties candies or sweet-tart candies than baby powder--think of it as pink pixie sticks in a fragrance, only less sweet and much more sophisticated.

The longevity is great--still present even overnight. I find it comfortable (not cozy) and relaxing and very springlike. I would recommend anyone looking for something for spring and summer that is different from citrusy scents.

jeanharlow

I tried this for a second time today and I so wanted to love this but I just don't. Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE it but its just OK. In the beginning it smells exactly like the guerlain meteorites powders which is nice in the powder but not in perfume form...it was nagging at me. Then after about 10 minutes it softens and goes more powdery which is the part I liked but its just too sweet at this point (and I like sweet perfumes so I'm not sure why this one doesnt sit right with me). Ive taken a shower and scrubbed this....and its STILL there! So i guess I can say longevity is there on a positive note. Now it smells like a light soapy violet powder.
For some, I can see why they might love this but I sadly didnt love it as much as I thought I would.

Callista25

Perfectly named! The beginning is absolutely obnoxious. Over time it mellows into a lovely L'Heure Bleue with a heap of sugar. This would be a sophisticated choice for girl. Better than the legions of non descript fruity florals.

Good sillage and longevity.

Mona708

The tart, tangy berries add a kick to the powdery violet and iris that keeps this scent from being another dull old-fashioned floral. The orange blossom in the base notes also help keep things sweet without being too sugary. It has a pretty good longevity as well; it's lasted on me for about 9 hours, even after a good hot shower. It lingers on clothing for up to four days.

bigmoneyburt

As mentioned in the prior review, YouTube may be buy this as well. I blind bought it and it is definitely not for me. I love sweet scents but this is headache inducing and more on the powdery/mature side. I would recommend smelling this in stores before purchasing

rchayes

Youtube definitely made me buy this. This was a blind buy fail for me. I like powdery fragrances like Narciso Poudree and Mon Guerlain, and I like violet fragrances like Gucci Guilty Pour Femme and Daisy Eau So Fresh Twinkle, so I thought I’d really like this. However, to me this smells very mature (I’m 26) and has a cloying, medicinal quality to it. I really wanted to like this, but ended up having to scrub it off after 30 mins.

Quixotic Blue

I knew this was a polarizing fragrance because of the mixed reviews, but did a blind buy anyway.

If you're looking for a perfume with longevity and good sillage, this can be your go-to if you like the scent. You kind of walk around in a powder cloud with this on--people will notice. A little goes a long way!

My first impression was powder. Then fruity, raspberry / red berry powder that kind of clobbers your nose and hangs on relentlessly for a while. It was a little too fruity for me in all honesty, it got kind of cloying and a little sickly sweet. The powder tamps it down, but there's still not much relief in sight for about 45 minutes, when the violet/iris and some orange blossom emerge to take over. You don't think of that combination working, but it does although the powder does a lot to distract you.

In all, it feels like a scent for an older person, or someone who loves fruity scents and isn't afraid of the comfort of a powder scent. The violet is shy in this--I felt like the fruit took over the florals too much, but maybe I'm just not used to fruity powder scents. You either love this or will give this to your mom/aunt who loves things like this. It's hard to stay neutral.

lmnsvgz

At first spray it felt heavy and old. After wearing it for a bit I started to smell violet and iris. It's floral but it's not very sweet. It's powdery like an old, classic fragrance but the violets make it more wearable, clean and youthful. It's definitely a late winter, early spring fragrance. I don't find it heavy and the sillage isn't powerful so I think it's good for the day and is work-appropriate.

Strawberrythinking...

I tried the EDP and found that it was not "candied violets" because there was not really any sweetness. The EDT is where the sweetness is at! It's more uplifting due to the orange blossom. It's a good pick-me-up for the winter time. It smells like clean, sweet, violet-scented bath bubbles.

lauren.smells

Reading the reviews below, it really does ring true that perfume is a matter of personal preference. On me, this scent was cloyingly sweet and the violet was overbearing. I had bought a sample size and couldn't bring myself to finish it. The sillage was powerful and longevity was great, which wasn't good news for me, but will be for those who enjoy Insolence.

taylorcake1

Wow. This is stunning. Candied violets is a great descriptor, I can’t stop smelling myself! Absolutely gorgeous. The red berries and violet compliment each other perfectly. It smells sophisticated and playful at the same time. Anyone of any age or profession could pull this off. I don’t think it’s an “old” or “young” fragrance. It’s womanly and confident, even a little gentile. I don’t detect anything too powdery here, it’s a delicate balance between flowers and fruits with a dash of powder.
I usually lean towards gourmands, so this was a little out of my comfort zone as a blind purchase. I must say insolence has a gourmand vibe to it which I’m so glad about.
I took a chance on insolence EDT because of a review by Sally Marion on YouTube. She was so right, this fragrance is a stunner.
I can smell delicate sweet tarts candy or pixie sticks, what I imagine a fairy in the spring to smell like. Don’t let that descriptor scare you away, it’s a unique and special fragrance.✨sparkly✨ if you will.
I could see this working well as a signature fragrance or even a special occasion fragrance.
The bottle is beautiful, I’m glad I purchased the ‘new’ packaging version because of the vintage elegance it has. The frosted bottle is so well crafted and designed with care.
This is a stepping stone for me into different types of fragrances than what I’m used to. I’m impressed and I love this. I would definitely buy again. Long lasting and great sillage.
Timeless beauty. Give it a try, I have a feeling you’ll love it too 💕

Sweethymn

If Violet Candies were made into BathBombs!!!

Leylanierod

I bought a sample of this perfume because I was really curious to know how it smells like since I like violets. Personally, I didn’t like it. It reminds of an old teacher I had, but it’s not bad, just not my type of perfume. However, this perfume is reeeally strong, so if you’re looking for a long lasting perfume with an enormous sillage, this is your perfume.

FrenchyFry

There was an odd accord that I got from this but couldn't put it into words...MaxieF got it right...Balloons. Powdery, synthetic, plastic-y, slightly floral. I get no gourmand or "frosted" notes. I am a die-hard violet lover, but sadly to my nose theres so much Iris in this to the point where the violet gets overpowered.
I don't hate it though, it's soft, feminine, comforting. I 100% HAVE to be in the mood for it though. If I wear it too much then it actually makes me nauseous. I like wearing it occasionally, and I only have a 30 ml bottle so I'm just gonna finish the bottle and probably not repurchase.

Sweethymn

OMG This is....Violet sugar candies mixed with Mistolin,(if you're hispanic you know the cleaner) or some sort of bathroom cleaner. IDK but this reminds me of my grand aunts bathroom. It was cloying like pure potpourri over the toilet tank & sink counter. If powdered sweet violets are your jam this this is it!

Warmthandlight

I tried to get myself to like this, but I don't think I can. It's overly powdery like mothballs, and the florals are the epitome of the word cloying. All of that combined makes this smell like your grandma's linen closet. I saw someone say they'll use it for linens, but I'm not sure I could even do that as it makes everything smell old.

iTod

Pure Good Mood in a bottle! I just can't get enough of it, it`s become my day-to-night happiness elixir.
Main notes are frosted red currant and violets and it smells almost gourmand to me. Very uplifting :)

Sirène Cryptique

Apparently I can't get enough violet... It's become my favourite note. More than precious rose, more than aphrodisiac vanilla. I had never before delved into violet dominant perfumes (knowingly)... because I wasn't sure what the flower itself actually smelled like. Divine, as it turns out. I initially smelled this once a couple years ago very briefly before leaving a store, having avoided the bottle previously because I absolutely hated the old packaging & was pleasantly shocked by my instant love of it. Yes, I know. "It's what's on the inside that counts." I abide by this when it comes to human beings, but not when I am purchasing something to bring into my sanctuary. It has to speak to me visually, aesthetically. As time goes on however, I care less & less about this when it comes to perfume bottles. I end up loving & appreciating them all. Now I LOVE the original bottle (transparent pink EDT) & wish I had one. The frosted glass bee bottle, the one I own, was love at first sight. Even though I already knew what it looked like, having studied it in great detail online, I was STUNNED when I unboxed mine. It is too beautiful for words! So elegant & French, with girlygirl My Little Pony + Barbie + Prima ballerina silk pointe slipper PINKNESS. In other words, my version of Heaven. The beautiful, comforting scent of my mum's makeup bag, which I would always lock myself in the bathroom & play with, intensely delighted. It is gentle & dries down rounded & warm & easy to wear. It doesn't change much throughout & I love that. It is everything I want it to be, beginning to end. Intoxicating.

lorrainecarlaaa

I love this, I am not sure but this came out less powdery to me. I can smell more the candied violets and iris.

I bought 50ml of the bee bottle, I wish I bought the 100ml. Perfect blind buy.

kopmk001

Gets sweeter/candy-like the longer it is on the skin, however the powderiness remains for a long time too. I like this scent, however it is not modern and I don't think I'll be reaching for it too often.

herzl_f

Smells like a luxurious powder or a vintage high-end lipstick. It smells ultra-feminine and romantic. I love it so much.

Gemsense

This fragrance does not perform well in humidity and heat. I bought this in the middle of a Minnesota summer and kept trying to like it but it w

as all powdery mothballs... Until today... The weather has cooled down and it's crisp outside and I now get those sweet candied violets with that sweet light powder that trails behind. Mmmm I'm so glad I didn't return it, as I was so utterly disappointed upon first sniff. I thought the seller had duped me with cheap garbage, I was expecting the advertised classic bottle and was under the impression that this bee bottle was not the one you want. So imagine my disappointment when I open to find it's the bee bottle- then I smell it and it smells so bad, just awful all summer I kept trying. Finally put it away until now. After discovering modern Jess transformed into such a classic beauty in the cool temps I thought it was time to get back out the old bee bottle and to my surprise... It's heavenly sweetness do Divine! Nothing like what I smelled this summer. Mmmm it's so delicious and so pretty! I feel like 'me' in this, it's very comforting.

Okay so a few minutes later, after I wrote my review, this has faded and it's too light for me. On my other hand is modern jess and she's still going strong just how I like but insolence edt is now too light and the boldness that I loved has faded. This will probably want up throughout the day beautifully but I want more strength than this... So I'm going to try the EDP next🤞

ma2780

This is one of those scents that you get, thinking it's a blind buy but upon spraying it realize that you've smelled it a million times. This smells identical to violet candy. A beautiful, elegant blend of iris, violet, and orange blossom, with a sweet edge of red berries-- it's powdery, floral, slightly woody, and fresh in a clean-skin way (no citrus or aquatic notes here). The sweetness here is not rich or gourmand, rather quite conservative and really understated. It's the perfect signature scent and would work year-round. The only risk with those one is that it can be quite vintage-smelling-- my boyfriend thinks it smells "old" (ugh) but to me it smells classic.

If you're feeling busted, reach for this and you'll be transformed. It's comforting, delicate, and graceful.

Longevity is only a few hours on me with soft projection.

BlackOrchidSorceress

EDP is Violet Queen EDT is Fruity Violet Princess

Both are magnificent

The first sprays are a bit over soapy hairspray laundry soap BUT WAIT IT OUT and keep trying them

I don’t like powdery soapy clean floral stuff but this scent is enchanting if you allow your nose to “get” it

These were both blind buys and I am thrilled each day my nose adjusts and appreciates n loves them more n more

meg0825

Violets on steroids!
It's glorious. Sweet, fruity, and powdery elegance. Hands down my favorite violet fragrance.
LOVE!

Bought this after seeing so many great reviews about it. Though at the time, I was still trying to figure out what notes I preferred and had no clue what I was in for. I knew that I liked powdery scents (I've loved Chanel n5 ever since I was 5 years old) but I wasn't too sure what violets smelled like so I just took a chance and bought it. Lemme tell ya, at first sniff I was taken aback because, well, I just didn't know what TO expect. It smelled great but not like something I would wear all the time. Btw I'm 23. I really do love it though but I still wouldn't wear it very often. To me, it smells like the most beautiful laundry detergent you could ever purchase. I really only see myself wearing this if I'm just wanting to smell like freshly washed clothes. This is also the perfect perfume to spray on bedding. To me, it's very calming & makes me feel happy. Whenever I'm having a stressful day, I just like to spray it in my vicinity & I'm automatically in such a better mood. This perfume is one of a kind. I'm glad I bought this.

I have been loving Guerlain fragrances and think there perfumes are always unique and quality. I saw and read some reviews and thought this perfume would be up my alley. Low and behold a super sweet amazing Fragrantica member and I swapped for this fragrance.

Jeez think I'm in love. Its definitely powder like, which everyone already mentions, its soft but not a skin scent. Just not a fragrance that is so overwhelming your not sure where to wear it. It's truly a violet perfume but mixed with the forefront of violet you get powder and a light vanilla that blends it all together.

Another gorgeous Guerlain fragrance that will become part of my weekly rotation. I think I now want the edp as well, I hear it's a little darker. This fragrance is so great I'll have it in all forms.

Just like one of the commenters below, I tried to love or even like this, but it's just not happening.

Not very powdery on me, all I ever get is linear cloying violet and nothing else. I think I will use it to spray my bedsheets.

The first Guerlain perfume that I dislike, what a plot twist!

When I was 18 with no money, I would walk through a very high end department store in my city and spray on insolence EDT when I wanted to feel good and special. I thought it was the fanciest most delicious, unique and creative scent I Had ever smelled. Well now I’m 30 and I can afford it and I STILL love it. Picked up a bottle recently and it transported me instantly to that young girl with all class, confidence and no money - in a good way. Such a nostalgia bomb for me. I love it - have been obsessed with this for 13 years and I finally own it. Definitely suits my personality - Its feminine and soft, but also quirky and confident - this is a weird girl perfume. This scent has a dreamy quirkyness about it - it’s weird, but beautiful. Ouch110 called the EDP "violets on acid", and the same is true for the EDT. This scent may be polarising, but I absolutely love it. A signature scent for the right person.

Powdery, clean, sweet, refreshing and gentle. I imagine this is what a Disney princess would smell like. It smells like fancy sweet soap. I love it.

perfumeaddict97

This perfume smells so pleasant, elegant and classy. I love the soft powdery notes, which are also sweet. I smell a nice soap smell (in the best way possible), as well as some sweet raspberry. My sister pointed out to me that it smells like a luxurious bubble bath, and I definitely agree! This perfume smells vintage, however, not too mature. It's got excellent performance as well, plus I love the elegant and pretty packaging!❤️

Lana@strok

Got the perfume version from Canadian website parfumeonline, very good price. Nostalgic, cozy , powdery, bringing back my childhood memories of mom's evening bag. Love it

casznava

I couldn't smell the different between this one and the EDP. This was extremely sweet and I'm not big on sweet. I wore it a few times and I felt like I was constantly eating powdery candies.

I like gourmands but I don't like the kinds that make you feel like you're eating it all the time, especially on a full stomach. This was way to sweet for me.

I am surprised at how much attention it got on YouTube.

surirohayu

Love wearing it as bedtime scent. The powderiness of this perfume is so good, so comfy.

car0

Truly a stunning fragrance, smells like violets candy with a really clean, powdery undertone. I'd say liking violets and bit of an old-school fragrance vibe is a must when buying this. Quite lovely and for a eau de toilette has an great lasting power.

marymag

A sparkling berry violet fragrance. Slightly sweet but mostly just fruity, clean, and powdery, I love spraying this on clothes. Clean, but not boring.

I have both the EDT and EDP and the main difference is the prominence of the berry note and the strength. Both are quite long lasting. The EDT is lighter and more translucent as the berry note is stronger. This doesn’t necessarily add sweetness but a fresh brightness to the fragrance. Notably less intense and with more subtle powderyness than the EDP

I prefer the EDP for its scent, the EDT for it’s lightness and quite honestly the look of the bottle. If you are undecided between the two, EDP is PURPLE FLORAL with a berry vibe while the EDT is equally purple floral and berry.

TexasOrangeBlossom

I am torn on this one. I want to love it, but I can’t. I wish I could experience what others do. It simply does not last on my skin more than a few hours. It’s nice while it lasts, but it doesn’t blow me away either. Sillage, for me, isn’t filling a room like some have said. I also don’t find it elegant or enchanting or magical. It smells young to me. I imagine a young princess wanting to smell this way. Bright, cheerful, winsome, playful, but a bit restrained and well groomed. I think the EDP might have suited me better, but at this point I’m not wanting to take the chance on a blind buy. All in all, I like it. Others like it on me. I’ll use it, but my favorite part of it is the gorgeous bottle filled with the pink colored juice so I almost want to just leave it in there.
Edit: Okay, okay, I really love it now. The wafts drive me a good kind of crazy all day long. Just when I think it’s gone, I get another waft of it. Lovely! The EDP is great too. I don’t have a preference. I chose which one to wear based on mood, weather, and occasion.

ohmichelle

It’s very clean, which I appreciate. It’s definitely a violet candy perfume. I like that it’s sweet but not because of musk or vanilla. It’s signature scent worthy. Very beautiful fragrance

pinoemma

This is not a scent I would normally go for but something about this just does it for me. This is violet hard candies in a bottle. I've heard Gabriela Francesca on Youtube describe this as a magical scent smelling of fairies and that is spot on in my opinion. Very feminine and powdery and also kind of innocent. I can see my grandmother liking this as it's got this vintage feel about it but it's not a "grandma perfume" per se, however I don't think the younger me would have reached for this or enjoyed it as much as I do now as a 25-year-old. The lasting power is amazing for this type of scent and the uniqueness of it really fills a gap in my collection I didn't know existed before I got my nose on this. Absolutely gorgeous!

Lovely123

Upon first impression, this does smell like an older and somewhat vintage perfume. I think it's because violets were a common scent in the older generation, so I instantly felt that my grandmother might like this scent and it's something that I've probably smelled on an older woman - I imagine it on someone elegant and kind, to be specific. That being said, while it's not what I'm used to, and it's definitely not a modern smell, it does smell nice. It's sweet, soft, powdery, and does have a touch of freshness to it. The fresh note and sweetness is what keeps it from smelling completely outdated. To be honest, it's not a perfume that I would characterize as a "clean" scent, since I think the powderiness of it predominates the freshness. I think of more citrus and white florals when I think of clean smelling perfumes.
Additionally, I wouldn't wear this to be a compliment getter or to be sexy, but if you like something that is reminiscent of older or vintage perfumes, go for it. Overall, I like it and do plan to wear it.

Lollia007

Truly wanted to like this, as it has the features I usually like: 1) it's sweet 2) it's powdery, 3) I like the irises and violets in fragrances.
The problem is - the sweetness is not THAT sweetness I like. It just resembles me La Vie Est Belle, which is a NO GO for me!
After the first and the last spritz on my wrist I sold the bottle in an hour. Thank god I was wise enough to blind buy only 30 ml.

Polinka

At first thick cosmetic powder, kinda waxy and heavy. Then it opens up and gives a cool feeling. Hence the melancholic vibe many people get from it. I don't think it's melancholic, just strict. I feel more orris root than iris in here. A classic piece, what can I say. I just don't get one thing, why they had to change the bottle, just why?

HayleyH

Insolence by Guerlain is a true masterpiece. It really does have wedding fragrance written all over it. The violet burst is surprisingly soft, a scent which takes you to a midsummer nights dream. My favourite thing about this fragrance is when I wake up in the morning the day after wearing it, the scent fills my nose immediately, such a fitting scent for a pillow, makes me want to gently drift off to dreamland again. And the bee bottle! Looks so beautiful on my vanity.

Katou117

To Aoede67, I ordered this one last week online because I have heard good things about it and because there was a very good deal with free shipping in Canada for Canada day. Will receive it soon so I hope I won't regret my blind buy :)
Will edit my review or make a new one once I have tried it.

Aoede67

Put simply, this fragrance smells EXACTLY like Chowards violet candy and takes one back to a bygone era. Like the Victorian Age or perhaps the early 1900s. It is a timeless fragrance with a beautiful and powdery note. Because it is so timeless it can be worn by a teenager or even a woman 70+. Like the candy, this fragrance is unique and well worth a blind buy. Search online for Chowards candy if you want a sense of what this fragrance smells like. Very lovely scent.

dvlcis

I also like these classic bee bottles a lot more. Besides the fact that those UFO bottles were ugly as sin, they were also quite fragile at the neck, I had 2 that leaked.

Ok, now abt the scent.

I regard this perfume as my perfect evening scent. It doesn t remind me so much of L heure Bleue, but more of Soir de Paris.

Big, big love I have for this perfume, I find it very classy, and I wear it to theater/opera/museums/book launches/evening parties/dinners. Non-casual contexts anyway.

The perfect non-sweet fruity violet symphony in a bottle.

scnfrag

This was a blind buy based off of a few YouTube videos. I'm so glad it wasn't expensive. I sat at my desk for about one hour contemplating what I was smelling. Final verdict... an air freshener in a port-a-potty. I'm not even kidding. It smells like the cleaning products or air fresheners they leave in public bathrooms. My daughter said it smelled like an old lady.

GhostStory66

I bought this because I ran out of Insolence EDP (which I completely LOVE) a while ago. The EDT is a little cheaper, and plenty of people seem to prefer it to the EDP.
Having tried both, I definitely think the EDP is a five star perfume. It is thick and very purple, sure of itself, velvety. I find this EDT to be a weak, scratchy shadow of the EDP. 3 stars.
It is not unpleasant, and I will wear it, but I find it doesn't have the thickness and depth of the superior EDP. It's just a bit... meh.
When I run out of this, I'll be repurchasing the EDP.

Balletflowers

I do not like it. It’s an old fashioned powdery, sharp soapy scent.
I get a burst of violets & iris with a hint of berries, making it extremely powdery, soapy & slightly fruity. It smells like those old fashioned soaps or cheap soaps from the 99 cents store. It definitely reminds me of perfumes front the early 90s & way before. Could pass as something old from Estée Lauder or Elizabeth Taylor. I can’t stand it & actually hate it. Definitely don’t recommend as a blind buy.

Allisonmsmith22

Insolence EDT is getting a ton of hype lately. This has a an old school vibe to it. I do not like sweet, juvenile scents but this felt a bit dated to me. That's just me. Definitely sample first if your into more modern fragrances.

kbgirl19

LOVE! This is not your typical fragrance, it is unlike anything you will smell in a department store or anywhere else for that matter. But it is beautiful. Candied violets, powdery, sweet, yet fresh all-in-one. This is my first Guerlain and it may just be my last as I can't imagine anything else will compare to this, and I would like to embody that house in my mind as creating this wonderful fragrance. This is my everyday scent when I don't know what to wear but want to smell clean and girly. A very unique girl but still a girl; ultra feminine. I should say also this perfume gives me a potpourri vibe. I understand why that may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I have fond memories attached to that smell. I guess the ones I smelled before were super floral and powdery, which makes sense as it aligns with this perfume pretty well. Gorgeous is all I can say. This is in my top 3 scents at the moment easily.

ScentedSoul

Insolence has a great sillage and the projection is decent. This scent also has a decent lasting power. It reminds me of the smell that emerges from grandma's antique crystal candy dish filled with hard candies that are all stuck together. It's quite a lovely sweet candy scent however I just cannot get over the fact that it gives off an unmistakeable scent of urine. It is such a shame because everything else about this scent is wonderfully girlie. Imagine a beautiful young lady standing in a beautiful field of violets and iris with a wet bottom. I'm sorry it's a no for me.

hanak20

This was a blind buy and I love powdery fragrances. I expected this to be a soft, lipstick and powder kind of scent according to the reviews on here and on Youtube, but this ended up being a true crisp flower bomb on my skin. It smells like a realistic bouquet of violets and iris. Personally it's not my cup of tea. I'm so so so sad!!! I don't know if my body chemistry hates me or if my nose is just too sensitive on floral notes. I'll give it points for sillage and longevity. For an Eau de Toilette, this lasts about 8hrs+ and has arm lenght projection. It's super affordable too!

$ortabroke

I get the gorgeous scent of violet candies. It's that beautiful sweet, powdered candy/bubblegum scent--but SOMEHOW while I was working out it started to smell like a sweet buttered popcorn and I was so confused. I had sprayed the perfume in my hair hours before and it must've changed due to my sweat and the heat of my body. It was unexpected for sure, but I'm not complaining.

codymarieb

This has become my wear-to-bed fragrance. It’s candied, powdered violets that just took a nice soapy bath. It feels comforting to me and lovely and sweet. Absolutely divine and the bottle is gorgeous. Great performance as well.

Anamandy

I purchased the old formula tester and received it two weeks ago. I already waxed poetic about it on that review page. It was a scent I used years ago and decided to revisit again. I was so happy having it once more, and falling in love all over again, that I wanted a back-up of the original bottle, still packaged, so I could put it away and pull it out when I finished the tester. Shopping around I found what I was looking for on Zulily's site. I pulled the trigger and waited in eager anticipation for its arrival. What a disappointment to find that I was sent the new bee bottle. Contacting Zulily was an effort in futility. They are 3rd. party sellers, so you are literally “blank” out of luck as far as returns and getting a refund are concerned. Remember that when shopping at their site.

Anyway, since I had it here and couldn't return it, I decided to try it out. Not bad. Not bad at all. Actually, it's very good. While silage and longevity aren't as massive as they were before, that works in its favor as far as I'm concerned. I'm still getting a good 8+ hours out of it that I can smell clearly all day. I'm not getting any synthetics, like some claim they smell. It is essentially the same fragrance that's in the original bottle. An added bonus it how much easier it is to hold and spray the bee bottle compared to that weird space ship. I've been wearing perfume for decades and have yet to drop and break a bottle (knock wood). But, if ever I were to drop one, that would probably be the one I would just by how difficult it is to hold and spray (2nd. place goes to Gaultier's Fragile – another crazy bottle difficult to hold and spray.)

Anyway, for those fretting about the new bottle shape and change in scent– don't. This is just as good scent-wise, and is much better bottle-wise, than the original product. This turned out to be a win after all.

vindyag

This was a blind buy. At first sniff I got the very vintage vibe of "what my aunt used to smell like". It wasn't unpleasant but a lilt too old school. But I have been giving it a go in the last few days and I have changed my mind. It's a beautiful powdery floral. Perfect for work. I'm surprised that it has good 6-8 hr longevity as well, mostly as a skin scent towards the end.

I'm glad I stuck with this. I love this in my spring rotation.

Neosmiaphyte

Expectations are everything when trying new perfumes. This has been often recommended to me as a superior alternative to MMM Lipstick On. With this expectation, I was terribly disappointed. Where is the vanilla? The almond/heliotrope? Where is the depth given by patchouli or amber? The discontinued Givenchy L'Ange Noir is a much more apt alternative.

The opening was both sweeter and more tart than I expected. The opening is more reminiscent of children's cough syrup than candied violets. The heart however is spot on to that comparison. The previous review bringing to mind children's bubble bath is correctly evocative if you expand the scene to include the mother putting the finishing touches on her makeup as she oversees bathtime.

Insolence EDT is not an alternative for my beloved lipstick perfumes. Insolence EDT is an alternative for face powder scents as sweet, musky iris is dominant for most of the wear. With this expectation, Insolence EDT is a beautiful new favorite. The casual wearer might accuse me of semantics, but as a lover of cosmetic fragrances I find it necessary to distinguish between Coty Airspun face powder and Estee Lauder lipsticks.

If you are disappointed by the Prada Infusion D'Iris reformulations, or simply found it and Atelier's Iris offerings to be too masculine, metallic, or cold then this demure beauty is for you.

Sweetbzegirl

very sweet and powdery scent. anyone interested i have a 100ml bottle willing to sell or trade.

CrazyRussianChick

I received it by mistake in place of ordered My Insolence. After contacting customer service I received a refund, which is good, but I still don’t like it, which is bad...

It reminds me of Esprit d’Oscar - some old lipstick smell, which, I think, caused by iris and violets.

moranaflo

So glad they changed the bottle. I hated that weird UFO shaped one.
This is L'Heure Bleue's daughter in my opinion. She is not melancholic like her mother but giggly and bubbly. Love the raspberry note in it, it makes it such a happy scent.
(It's long lasting too)

chrystelsinclair

I would like to start off by saying that it took me some time to understand what I was smelling. It might take some time for you too so let the scent melt in and blend with your skin. After my second take on it, this is what I discovered.

The first seconds of spraying this perfume on my skin, I smell something very powdery, almost like sweet baby powder. I...like it. I like baby powder!

The powder then mixes with something that smells like lipstick. You know, the real old fashion lipsticks that our mothers used to use ( I have some that smell like this). This just made me sad and disappointed...until...

Iris

Violet

Iris

A lot of iris.

A lot of violet.

I have to say, I am enjoying this one. It keeps powdery to the end but the mix of floral scents are gorgeous! This perfume is intense but soft at the same time. Intense because I smell of it, for a very long time. My husband commented that he could smell me from the other room. And yet, it's a subtle, simple, feminine, gentle scent because of the powdery note.

A very beautifully created perfume to wear during springtime.

meama

the perfume seems to me rather to be a re-writing of L'Heure Bleue, with all noble, rich and textured materials in the lineage of the great Guerlains and at the same time a loud clean effect, which almost inspires me a smell of laundry.
L'Heure Ultra-Bleue.

arteditors

it's exactly the same as the old bottle a beast yet people see oh it's eau de toilette, let's rate it as moderate or weak sillage. yep. you have got to know your fragrance... notes are wrong, same as the pink half spherical bottle... oh spoiler alert, edt insolence is stronger than edp. sorry to disappoint you all.

Nataja

Smells just like the original from a few years back! STUNNING! yay!!!!!!!!!!!

Paula80

Finally! Thank you for adding the bee bottles :)
You could also add other scents, that came out in bee bottles: Idylle, Samsara, L'Instant, L'Instant Magic... (They came out in 2017) That would be really nice ;)
