Idylle Eau de toilette by Guerlain is a Floral fragrance for women. Idylle Eau de toilette was launched in 2010. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser.

The latest hit by the house of Guerlain, perfume Idylle (eau de parfum) receives another version, its successor Idylle Eau de toilette.

The new edition, just like the original, was created by Thierry Wasser, perfumer of the house of Guerlain. He was inspired by Bulgarian rose and created a completely new composition, as typical of Guerlain. Eau de toilette is therefore more floral. Bulgarian rose in the center of the perfume is surrounded by lily of the valley, white lilac, peony and jasmine. Green and musky notes can be felt throughout the whole fragrance and they give a sense of lightness to its composition. A chypre accord is accompanied by fragrant ylang-ylang.

Flacon of Idylle EDT is shaped like a golden drop and is shinier and has more sparks than EDP. Photographer Paolo Roversi was in charge of the new advertising campaign, and his mystic and feminine photos continue the magic of original idea around Guerlain's idyllic fragrance.

The new EDT can be expected on the market as 35, 50 and 100 ml EDT in October 2010.

This is your 100% female perfumes that I don't think guy's could pull off.
Or I could be wrong , I wouldn't dare to wear this
Every time I smell this all I can imagine is an American lady in her 50's goes to church

SSolstice

I bought Idylle at the Guerlain flagship store during my first visit to Paris 7 years ago, so I’m a bit sentimental about her and refuse to use her up completely. Very floral forward, delicate and feminine. I find the heavier mix of florals give it a more cloying quality, so it doesn’t quite fit the bill of fragrances I would normally reach for today. Nonetheless, it’s still a sweet option for the springtime and I occasionally spritz her on when I want to take a happy trip down memory lane!

Freesia is only listed in the EDP, but I can smell it along with an elegant rose in the opening. There are some green nuances from the lily-of-the-valley, as well as sweetness from the jasmine. They alternate the center of the stage with the rose note. About half an hour later, lilac takes presence with a powdery touch. The drydown is a musk reminiscent of Narcisso Rodriguez For Her.

JessicaEllen

Lovely floral, well balanced, the lilac and rose stand out to me. Elegant, but it feels more suited to someone 50 and up.

JessicaEllen

Pretty, elegant, but too much lily of the valley for my taste.

LadyMuck

A lovely jasmine prominent floral.
It does have some muskiness to this fragrance at the dry down stage.
Simple clean elegant flowery perfume. Not heavy at all.
It has a tinge of likeness to Marc Jacobs Daisy but not screechy.
Mellow and soft.
Easy wear day fragrance.

To my nose, Idylle EDT is very much in the same general scent family as Tous Gold, Tous Touch, Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue, and Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl -- floral or fruity-floral freshies -- but I love all of these, while Idylle is another story. Until Idylle, I'd never met a Guerlain scent I didn't like and, while I do smell the lily of the valley, lilac, and peony in Idylle, these lovely florals are underpinned by an aggressively "fresh" note that smells harsh, like dry cleaning solvents or something. I've held onto my bottle of Idylle for years, and keep trying it, at intervals, because I'm devoted to the house of Guerlain. But, after trying it yet again, I think Idylle is never going to work for me.

I blind bought this because it was on sale. I wish this lasted longer because I’m obsessed with it. It’s so pretty. Powdery musky not sickly sweet. If you like the Rodriguez range you will love this too but it is a lot more powdery then musky for me. For an edt which I don’t normally go for it’s not too bad but I prefer stronger scents that last longer so I use it as a daily fragrance although people do say they can smell it on me even when I can’t.

Marina.Klr

Very floral, romantic, classy and cute. The lilac smell is really prominent and unique, it’s a little soapy too- overall it’s a good scent, I think it’s worth a try.

pierogiss

Don't overspray this when you're going to be hiking all day in the heat. One of the worst fragrance experiences ever.

bel.gravia

A fragrance for a beautiful Guerlain woman. The sort of movie charcter who wears light makeup, classic Chanel like suits, is a lawyer or a teacher, slightly over 30s, has hair undone. She is confident and always has a warm smile, there is much allure around her. She makes the perfect mother and wife. She wears Idylle.

Finally tried a bottle and I don’t know why I didn’t try it earlier as I’m a huge LOTV lover .

Got a sample today and it’s a pretty , soapy ,powdery fragrance on my skin.

I’m not a fan of powdery scents , though I do have one bottle that is powdery and that’s Apollonia by Xerjoff which is outstanding !!!

Just one spray of Idylle and it’s silage and longevity was phenomenal .

With the notes like LOTV, lilac , Jasmine , Rose and Peony and the positive reviews , I would of thought this fragrance was made for me but no!

When I smell it on my wrist , it’s gorgeous and fresh but when I spray it around my neck , all I get is powder .
So disappointing cause strong powdery scents remind me of the 80s.

Just bought the EAu de Parfum remodelled bee bottle as it was discounted by $170.00 to $69.95 so I thought I would give the EDP a go .

Tried it EDP again and just couldn’t handle the powdery notes . This is a beast mode projection scent .

I gave it to my mum instead and she loves it . I can smell it on her for more than 12 hrs 😱

To me it is the holy grail of the most feminine, romantic scent.
On my walks I am literally stopping in lots of places to smell and inhale lilac, heliothrope, violets, from the overhanging bushes and gardens. I have dreamt of finding a perfume which smells like that. This eau does that so beautifully and realistically I am actually tearful. It is the only scent that has ever made me cry on spraying as I had received a bottle. I have smelt it from a sachet tester in a magazine some 10 years ago, and have not forgotten about how sublime it smelt.
Onto the bottle itself- it is a piece of art. The drop design with the light golden liquid inside evokes palpable perception of an idylle indeed, that drop of precious paradise which falls onto my skin. I cannot help but adore the way the sunshine makes it look so divine as it envelopes it.
All the better someone I bought it from listed it as a 30ml, and I got sent 50ml instead- how miraculous is that?
I am in lilac heaven. I could smell just this or like that till I die.

This is just so pretty and dainty. It is a precious spring-like scent. I really love it.
I am new to fragrance and very new to Guerlain, so I don’t know if this is different than older formulations in longevity (I’m sure it is), but that is a problem here. I think I get maaaaaybe 2 hours tops on my skin, but until the next day on clothing which is good. But it changes a lot on clothing. Not for the worse, thankfully. It’s just muskier and less precious and dainty.
On my skin, this as I said is a very pretty, dewy, springtime in a bottle scent. On the dry down, only on my clothes, the musk comes out, but it’s a very delicate, clean musk The opening on both skin and clothes is all Lily of the Valley and Peony, very dewy and floral sweet.
It must be due to the musk that comes in the dry down on clothing that people notice the similarities to Narcisco Rodrigues for Her. I personally have never smelled that fragrance (but intend to!) but my signature, SJP’s Lovely, gets compared to that all of the time. On a recent occasion I went to wear a cardigan that I had worn the day before while wearing Idylle. When I put on the cardigan I thought to myself “Why does this smell like Lovely? I didn’t wear it yesterday.” But I connected the dots here on Fragrantica. So if anything, since Idylle is so similar to my signature scent, at least on the dry down, I really have reason to enjoy it even more.

I just got 1 1/2 oz spray of this from a web site scent club--and I LOVE IT!! I haven't been wearing white florals too much this winter--but this is so fresh--green--spring time floral--the muguet--jasmine-peony is dominant on my skin--like Cartier's Brasier Vole--but it doesn't disappear instantly like that one does on me--it also reminds me of Jessica McClintock's Brilliance---I have been so immersed in warm powdery Iris scents all this winter--I had honestly forgotten how much I love white--sweet--fresh florals!! I can tell that this won't be pushy or overbearing for the office or in the bus--it's pretty magical how much this scent makes me happy!!

Jacobean Lily

Oh dear, the first Guerlain to disappoint me.
My tear-shaped bottle smells like a cheap, synthetic fruity-floral, despite the Guerlain name and the fact there are no fruits in the notes.
I detect litchi and perhaps pear from the intial spritz, dominating the shrill floral notes which wouldn't be out of place in industrial cleaners.
I get the references to Narciso Rodriguez For Her, but NR For Her is warm, seductive, well-balanced and husky-voiced in its effect.
This is a harridan out to get you.

-Fresh, white floral.
-A dumb reach for days you can't decide on a SOTD.
-I'm really loving the dry down.
-Projection: Low. This turns into a skin scent on me.
-Longevity: Great. Lasts 12 hours as a skin scent. (-)

***Review is based on 2012 batch/formulation I was gifted ***

*Update*
-I've grown to dislike the jasmine note in this.. it was briefly relegated as a fragrance spray to scent my IKEA potpourri (those things lose their original scent pretty quick yo)..and later decluttered my bottle to a friend who enjoyed it more than i did.

floralscents88

I had reviewed this awhile back in colder weather and I did not really like it that time. But because the teardrop bottle is to die for, I decided to keep it and revisit in summer. Its now summer here and tried 1 spray on my wrist, and boy oh boy, it just blooms in the heat. its like a totally different fume. yes its a lovely floral scent. 3 hours later on my skin, it turned so very narciso rodriguez for her EDP (crazy right? i have the full bottle so i know what it smells like, a blind buy I regret). a similar thing happened when i blind bought Tiffany edp, on my skin it was just too musky, it gave me a headache. and this is coming from a person who never oversprays. I'm 1-2 sprays max.

BLIND BUY OLD FORMULA/BOTTLE

It’s s spring. There is a lily pond with lilies everywhere and there are water nymphs splashing around happily and harp music is playing in the background. This is a gorgeous watery lily scent. Absolutely in love!

Volatile

I think of Idylle EDT as an Eau Fraiche version of the EDP with greater emphasis on the lily of valley. The fruits are absent and you’re left with lush and fresh florals.
The patchouli is definitely still very much present in the middle and dry down stages, I found that the pyramids in here aren’t accurate so beware of that. While I love the EDP I find that this one is more suited for the summer.

labonvie

This fragrance has been wrongly maligned by the perfume community at large. I myself ignored it for years after reading several unenthusiastic reviews that referred to it as basic, boring and unbefitting the house of Guerlain. This is just lovely. Honeyed flowers (on my skin, mostly lily-of-the-valley and lilac), warm and fluffy musk and I swear I get sandlewood. It feels warm and casual and urban and sophisticated at the same time. It’s a fragrance that isn’t trying too hard because it’s comfortable in its own skin. Effortlessly beautiful.
The comparisons to Narciso Rodriguez for her are overstated. The similarities are fleeting. I was worried that having both would be redundant, but rest assured they are entirely distinct compositions that share a bit of the same DNA.

delightme5

A realm for angels and fairies. They're my first tboughts. Soft yet strong. Fine powdery like structure. Ethereal with a definitive white floral aura you cant ignore. If you dont like a floral..RUN !.. It can eventually, turn into a green powder - but not always.
As finely composed and fragile like that Idylle (edt) seems..? I can see this playing out beautifully on a HEAVILY built person, as well as a small or petite frame.

Vegas Pauli

Really beautiful sparking floral. Anyone who likes Elie Saab EDT or Cartier Baiser Vole will love this one. Gives the impression of walking into a garden; fresh classy and sophisticated. Smells very natural too, not at all synthetic. I found a tester for dirt cheap online, I can't believe how cheap this is. For the price you can't go wrong. 100% class in a bottle. Thumbs way up.
EDIT: longevity is a bit weak

floralscents88

I blind bought this based from the positive reviews here. I was so sure I would love it. i bought together with la petite robe noir edt. the initial spray was quite sharp floral, with that vintage/retro vibe to it(which i'm not a fan of). after a while, by drydown, it does soften and become more tolerable. will try another time and see if it changes, then will update.
maybe the reason why i was disappointed was because i tested both at the same time? i sprayed the la petit robe noir edt on my right wrist and this one on my other wrist. and somehow, the la petite robe noir EDT stood out the most. wasn't expecting that either, as i'm not into sweet scents. but there you go...
But will certainly keep this in my collection. the tear drop shaped bottle alone is well worth keeping..

lalondem

Barely lasts, maybe 2 hours tops, and still it is a mild scent within those 2 hours. I had a 30 ml bottle that l had to spray many times a day
to keep the scent going, and within a week that bottle was gone. Longevity certainly needs improvement! I won't buy it again for that reason.

Anamandy

Are the notes complete for this fragrance? I just got the edt. and it smells very fruity when first applied. In particular, I smell pear and litchi. Than I smell the floral, but the pear and litchi notes stick around a long time. I purchased this off a seller on ebay and hopefully this is how it smells and it is not a fake. It's very light and I can barely smell it but a friend told me that it left a floral trail when I walked by. Anyone with more info please let me know.

pipergirl

Idylle EDT is understated class in a bottle, just gorgeous! It's a lovely, fresh mix of florals and musk -light, airy, pretty and elegant. Idylle is often compared to Narcisso Rodgriguez (which I'm partly anosmic to) so I was not expecting to really love Idylle, but I do. I now get why NR is so popular with those who can actually smell it. I'm so glad that I finally tried this! A great find and a mystery solved.

coucoupetite

I bought this half blinded. It was on my list for a long time and I know I liked the scent of it. But I don’t recall exactly how it was anymore before I bought it. Once I got the bottle yesterday, I sprayed it on my wrist. And oh my dear, what a sweet honey floral scent. Pure floral Lilly of the valley and sweet honey to me. It is really too sweet to my taste of today. It is not that fresh to me for a warm spring day. After the top note is gone, it turns a bit softer and it is still the strong floral and little other excitements... kind of pity. I almost regret immediately of the purchase. But today after breakfast, I decided to give it another try. Just one spray on the back side of my neck. It is actually not bad... I wonder how it will go after a few hours. It is not gonna be my favorite I am sure but i might use it every now and then when the mood is right.

Ashlp

This was a blind buy and my first Guerlain purchase. I found it at a discount store for a stellar price.

Its a surprising little fragrance but doesn't pack a punch. It lasts only a few hours and then fades and is barely discernible.

On first spray the white floral lilac and jasmine are front and center and almost sharp. It is on the edge of old lady but as it starts to warm on my skin it develops into a playful delightful honeyed floral. Soothing but mysterious. Its a fling that unfolds and then fades away after a few hours. By hour 4 I can barely tell its there.

I enjoy it for the story it tells. If your a white floral lover you will likely enjoy.

Blueflowers

Can’t believe I haven’t posted about this lovely, luminous Guerlain yet.

Where I live, we are currently plunged deep into winter, with ice and snow and bitter below freezing temperatures. Although thick, deep winter orientals constitute a majority of my favorite fragrances, I decided to spray this to remind myself that spring will, in fact, return.

This is a gorgeous little floral-musk, with a soaring lily-of-the-valley note dancing with a lovely petal-soft rose, lilac and jasmine. It is a beautiful, late April bouquet that reveals a drop dead gorgeous musk as it dries down.

I’ve sampled the EDP, but I find the more delicate and floral aspects of the EDT appeal to me more.

ismellsogood

Collectors beware:
The bottle design has changed! The golden tear drop shape is the same but the golden metal sides are gone on the newer batch releases x just to note as I think the metal is gorgeous and I notice they are heavily discounted at the moment. Soon to be a vintage design, then highly collectible.
A lot of guerlain fragrances are going to be uniformed and basic in the future!

RaggedyAnne

I own the EDT, the EDP and Sublime, and I love them all. I prefer to wear the EDT in the summer, the EDP in cooler weather or evenings, and Sublime is an anytime fragrance.
I have owned the EDT for quite a while and have never really 'timed' the longevity, just assumed that as an EDT it obviously wasn't going to stay around long......How wrong was I? Yesterday I wore the EDT from 7am until 10pm, and could still faintly smell it before climbing into bed. 15 hours for an EDT is amazing! Previously I could never choose my favourite Idylle from the 3 I have, but these past few weeks I have fallen head-over-heals with the EDT, it's fresh flowers, and it makes me feel cheerful whenever I spray it. Strangely enough, I have 100ml of Sublime, 100ml of the EDP and only HALF a 35ml bottle of the EDT, THAT is about to change! I need a full 100ml of this as I can see me wearing a lot of this this year.

yantestrs

Golden sharp beautifully feminine. Starts out strong then settles into lovely whiffs. Not girly or sweet. Not banal white flowers. Almost honeyed.

สมัชชา.พันธ์ศรี

So this is bright and make me youthful

Gemini12

Oh how I love my Idylle EDT! Another offering from Guerlain that captures springtime in a bottle, mostly lily of the valley and lilac. Both the LOTV and the lilac are very realistic compared to most other perfumes on the market. Idylle is very ladylike, very classic and very beautiful, yet there's a subtle sexiness to it. There are similarities to Narciso Rodriguez for Her L'Eau, but minus the patchouli and with less musk. I love Idylle so much that I also bought the Eau Sublime and Love Blossom flankers.

sueshow

I have an almost full bottle for swap. PM me if you are interested

obar6084

This is very beautiful and classy, not just because of the Guerlain name. Not loud like any roses perfume that are sharper, nor pretentious. It is well balanced and the chypre gives it just enough oomph to make it modern and the same time classic ( I know, weird right?...). It is different from any other perfume it is being compared to (SJP's Lovely is more flowery, NR's For Her edt is sharper (read:strong) and Tocca's Collette is fruitier). I tried both EDP and EDT and they smell almost the same except that the EDP lasts longer and little bit tangy because of Litchi and depends on your body chemistry it will give off this chypre sour smell in the dry down, which is not offensive (in fact it is interesting) but quite common in some mainstream perfume e.g. CHLOE Chloe EDP and LANCOME Miracle(not the flankers). So if you want to try something different from among the recent flankers or the usual gourmands that is flooding the shelves (I know even a house like GUERLAIN has to go with the flow to be competitive), this is a very good choice. It's been around awhile but you will still smell unique.

peanutpup

I just bought this recently and tried it out today. I am so happy with my purchase. Idylle EDT is just beautiful. I can detect the lilac and lily of the valley, but all the notes are so well blended. To me it feels floral, fresh, and simply exquisite!

snoopyQ

Gorgeous rosy grown up scent similar to NR for her. Personally I like Idylle better it is cleaner and evokes a feeling of happyness when wearing it.

winterwind

I wanted to have something with lilac and jasmine, but found that it doesn't stay on my skin for so long, even less than Aqua Allegoria series. I started to feel too heavy on me, not in the sense that it smells from far, but in the sense of its quality. I prefer lighter fruity one, so am thinking of buying "La Petite Robe Noire" or "Mandarine Basilique"

ana hen

Floral ,warm feeling frag- lilac and lily of valley.very creamy ,satin a little spicy and yes , it is retro style perfume. That's not about age person who will wearing it,it's about atmosphere.

I have big bottle , and love use it at winter or early spring . Home ,black tea from cattle and old style thriller at paperbook:).I can feel it just by opening this edt:)

ScarlettX

This is one floral perfume. Quite complex and sophisticated. Not overly bitter or sharp for a such floral perfume. I disliked the perfume version, because of the raspberry note, I just couldn't appreciate.
This one is fine by me, but not the one I would purchase.
A soft classic, a little powdery, timeless product of quality.

Shoshi

This is a really beautiful scent.
To me (I am a Guerlain lover), it's in the style of all the Guerlains: complex, luminous, sophisticated.
This one has less patchouli than the Idylle EDP (which is heavier), and to me is really just a classic floral with prominent notes of lily and rose with some jasmine.
I am not usually a lily scent lover (they tend not to agree with me), but this scent has a warmth and doesn't have the high-pitched screetchiness that most lily scents seem to have.
I actually smell more rose in it.
One caveat - it doesn't last as long as I expected! (especially for a Guerlain).
On the one hand, that makes it less oppressively heavy, as the EDP smells to me.
But on the other hand, you need to refresh during the day for sure.

I don't sure whether i had parfum or edt version.
But i like it smell.
To bad it doesn't last long.
But still i like it. It smell unique from other..different fresh...good.
I'm willing to try champ elise in parfum but in little bottle if they had.

Catty

Very noble, fresh floral scent!

I would definetly say a classy day scent!

My assistent keeps saying that this is the best perfume I ever wore at the office. I really think it´s perfect for working time and weekends.

When I smell Idylle edt, I have a sensation that I´m walking through a rose garden just after the rain; this wet fresh earthy rose smell.

Lovely, extremely classy due to the outstanding quality (Guerlain bien sur)!

mushkbar

Oh my!!! I am floored. This is so lovely.I simply fell in love.Even though not a fan of jasmine, but this is the prettiest thing. My HG perfume now.

Coffee King

This is a very beautiful fragrance. Guerlain seem to introduce a bit of magic with everthing they do. I never understand why in the fragrance world houses like Estee Lauder and Lancome seem to have a greater presence. Idylle, I own just for the hell of it, what I will say is it's a very sweet, cultured and classy fragrance. Lily of the valley is the only thing I really see here, but it's so perfectly blended, why should it need to be more complex. There is a slightly musky dry down but not too much. The EDT is definitely a nicer smelling fragrance then the EDP, which is slightly less floral, and more musky. The bottle is gorgeous. Guerlain I love you!!

dina

I was so eager to test the edt after testing the edp, and had high hopes, after reading the reviews, that this one could be the perfect lily of the valley fragrance I'm looking for.

Alas! It smells almost identical to the edp; I agree the LOTV note is more dominant, but still, it has that extremely annoying ozonic note I get from the edp.

I don't really see the comparison with a masterpiece like Diorissimo, even after reformulation.

I guess I will stop searching anymore, it's useless: LOTV is Diorissimo!

Decodawn

Fresh, crisp and young. Romantic and full of anticipation. These are the feelings that come to mind when this fragrance is released on to the skin. Guerlain are Masters of perfumery. This fragrance is aimed at their younger clientele although can be appreciated by all ages. I love wearing this in the spring from March onwards, a lovely change after wearing the heavier fragrances that have been worn throughout the Autumn and Winter months. Perfect from March - May Daytime use.

Antares811

This EDT is sublime. One of the most beautiful, delicate, sweet, feminine floral ever smelled.
The quality of flowers in this scent is excellent. I can sniff mostly rose, peony lily-of-the-valley and jasmine. Wonderful.
I definitely LOVE it! I get lots of compliments when I wear this, it's one of my top 3 favorites.
Compared to the EDP, this EDT is sweeter (I can detect a touch of honey in it), more flowery and less musky. I love them both.
From Guerlain site, this is the composition (slightly different from the one above):
"Idylle opens with a shower of flowers, a fresh and joyful bouquet composed of lily of the valley, peony, freesia, white lilac and orange blossom.
The heart reveals jasmine paired with a blend of Bulgarian roses.
In the base, the chypre accord of patchouli and white musk is enlaced with delicate ylang-ylang notes".
If you love Diorissimo, you must try this.
It's also similar to Valentino by Valentino, 1978.
Congratulations, Mr Wasser, for this adorable scent.

kay0981

Idylle is gentle and luminous; it's like a beautiful floral veil which evokes elegance and luxury, worthy of Guerlain. It opens with a fresh bouquet of lilacs and lily-of-the-valley, and a few drops of honey which add a little sweetness to this otherwise very clean floral. Lilac is definitely the most prominent note, but there are also hints of peony, jasmine and rose, which has a slightly 'creamy' quality – I'm guessing that's due to the soft, musky undertone listed in the official notes.

I usually don't go on too much about perfume bottles, because, what a bottle looks like – everyone can see. But in case of Idylle, I just can't help but admire it so much – it's one of my favourite bottle designs, and a true piece of art. It looks so luxurious, and matches the scent hidden inside it – both reflecting the true elegance of Guerlain. This version is slightly softer and lighter than the Eau de Parfum, which I find to be a little too strong and soapy.

It's really hard not to like this pretty floral – it's bright, simple and very well-behaved. And even if you're not blown away by the scent, I'd still say it's worth getting just for the gorgeous bottle ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

TillyWave_archive

This EDT is a beautiful blend of flowers, primarily lilac with an undertone of rose, peach, and a drop of honey. The effect on my nose is smelling a good bottle of wine, with floral, honey, and fruit accords, after the wine has been poured swirled and it has oxygenated in the glass.

Normally I'm not a 'fruity' gal but fruity undertones are so natural and seem to be radiating from one's own true essence. I think that the florals are so well done and multi-dimensional that they give off a fruity undertone.

The musk is very subtle and understated, the florals/fruits are definitely the star of the show.

In true EDT fashion this wears close to the skin, and lasts 4 to 6 hours. Idylle EDT wears great in warm weather with a dress, this is a very gorgeous floral perfume.

IsaIsabella

Idylle eau de toilette is a fresh floral fragrance. To my nose, it smells like a bouquet of endless white florals that are predominantly lily, jasmine and hints of peony with generous honey dripping over them. I cannot detect the rose note, although my friend indicates that the jammy sweet note I can smell *is* the rose note. Edit: smelt the rose at last! A beautiful luscious red rose.

Warm, cosy, comforting and with a luxe aura.

Perhaps this doesn't fall in line with Guerlain's other works but this perfume is nonetheless a pleasant, sophisticated one. It seems to be able to morph both modern and 'old-fashioned' perfume style - it is not what some may call "old lady" but at the same time it's nothing like the overly sweet fresh florals on the market today. Detractors may think it is a horrid piece of work but frankly, as a standalone, this is a pretty good scent.

Wow, I hope I go back and edit this after wearing it a while. I bought this after reading every review I could find online. Even my Holy Grail blog, Perfume Smelling Things said paraphrased, For a modern interpretation of a Guerlain chypree, it was very well done and undeniably pretty". Well, that cinched it for me. I'm a sucker for pretty. I bought the toillete and a perfume mini bottle because I thought my only worry would be the patchouli. NO WORRIES. Both almost ran over me with Lilacs, Lilacs and more lilacs. WOSH!!! it does get better, but not right away. I think I could do with more peony and rose...where are they?!! Not one review said this was a hard white floral hitter. I love lilacs in Gucci Guilty and Givinchy's Fleur De Privi(discontinued). I'm either going to have to learn to wait for the opening to die down or learn to appreciate the opening-which really lasts a while.
It IS PRETTY, but to me a little old lady pretty. Sooo disapointed. I just can't read reviews. Please try before you buy. People really do say it for a reason.

A beautiful fragrance, soft, sensual. Very feminine. One of the few I never want to be without.

Only thing I smelled was Lilac. I can't stand Lilac so I had to wash it off.... Brought back memories of my childhood though. My mother really loves Lilac and put them allways in the house. I knew it when she did that because I could smell them before I saw them. It has to be said that it seems that in Idylle is real Lilac to be found so I recommend to try it for lovers of this ingredient among us!

I bought it today as a gift. It is a perfectly elegant flowery perfume. Lilac, jasmin and some chypre freshness. I loved it! Quite neutral, so it can serve as a gift, and beautifully elegant, now I desire it! :)
I thought I was not a "flowery" person. I may be wrong after all. Recently I tried Idylle Duet Jasmin-Lilas. It too was georgeous. These two flowers (jasmin and lilac in both of these perfumes) are somehow freshly placed on top of the chypre base... so feminine, airy, light yet sofisticated and new. I love it! :)

I really like this fragrance.. It's really feminine and classic.. on my skin it's all about lilac and lily of the valley.. with a touch of rose and musk after hours.. I imagine this fragrance for all the delicate and classic women..Beautiful..

This is a scent for a beautiful woman with class. Timeless, very classic.

Masterpiece.

When they released Idylle EDP back in 2009, I was one of the first to sample, and while I found it a rather elegant floral with creamy rose accords, it also lacked something. I was hesitant to test Idylle EDT thinking it would be a lighter version of the original, yet I'm glad to say it's a very different composition.

Idylle EDT is a delightful Spring-like floral, essentially what I'd call 'sunshine in a bottle'. I swear there is a honey note in this composition, even though it's not listed, because there's a rather likable honeyed sweetness throughout this fragrance's development, particularly in the opening.

The heart is centered around a bright and refreshing blend of lily of the valley, ylang ylang, jasmine and lilac. The scent stays true to the bottle design; golden, sparkling and transparent. It has that uncanny ability to make one happy.

This fragrance was suggested to me in a forum discussion on what I should wear during the Summer months. I don't rock fruity scents all too well, so this fragrance with all its floral notes suits me perfectly and it also works in hot weather.

The longevity is actually quite impressive for an EDT, however I do have one slightly negative point that I feel I need to discuss. The drydown somehow turned into a strange musky concoction with a hint of stale sweetness. This drydown left me disappointed and irritable. There's no way I could keep this fragrance on my skin during this phase, so it turned very quickly into a scrubber.

Despite the rather bland conclusion to Idylle EDT, I must say that on a whole, this fragrance was enjoyable and certainly more interesting than its predecessor.

Holy Lily of the Valley and Jasmine! It's a good thing I really do love them because that's all it smelt like on me along with a bit of musk. A much more feminine scent then I normally wear but definitely a nice one if you like florals. The lasting power okay, lasted quite a few hours on me. Different then the original but I like this one better.

on my skin it is exactly like Yves Rocher's Comme Une Evidence 8-)

Strong smell and good smell for me , stay long lasting more hours this is good one for spring time or winter.

A lovely flowery scent.. Eau de nostalgie..

It reminds me of my travels in North Africa, more in particular Tunesia.. It takes me back to lovely, dreamy evenings when people get out of their houses to go for a little walk along the sea coast. The air is fresh and warm, everything and everyone feel revived again after a long, exhausting day underneath the Tunesian sun..
I smell the jasmine flowers that Tunesian men offer their loved ones or just carry around their neck to enjoy it's gorgeous, subtle scent. Aromas of jasmine fill the evening air and sooth the soul and mind. Again, it was a beautiful day..

Thank you Guerlain, for creating this beautiful scent, which always brings a smile to my face.

I wore this yesterday and found it more pleasant than the original Idylle, with its strange grapefruit note. It really is 'nice' as a day time, light floral fragrance but it is pretty unmemorable in the way that light fragrances often are. I don't really feel that this is worthy of Guerlain, though the quality of its ingredients are there. I would go for Eau Premiere (Chanel) if I wanted this kind of scent. Bring back some innovation, please!

DarkViolet

This fragrance - though not outstanding in my books - owns Guerlain's elegance at its best, and I'd never dare to question the excellent quality of each creation de la Maison (unless they will come out with some ugly scents, which so far I've never experienced from this historical House).

The opening - and the heart too, for what I can smell after several minutes since spraying - are dominated by the sweet freshness of muguet: lilac note is also there, but maybe too subtle and distant to get easily perceived in this composition, at least by me.
And then the drydown happens to be (quite) a surprise: has anyone ever heard about a certain Narciso Rodriguez EDT For Her? (with a lower longevity, I must add)... the same, irresistibly refined and sensual musky undertones, only a bit toned down and far from the skin-like and straightforward sexiness that made the success of For Her.

Idylle EDT could be the perfect alchemy for a bride, a bright floral that evokes at the same time luxury and innocence (and, anyway, it smells like heaven on my skin). All in all, one perfect romantic fragrance..
But to me it feels too much like the French cousin of Estee Lauder's Pleasures, which I've had, so... I'm looking forward.

Mellyhelly

I tried it today and I immediately liked it, because it's fresh and luminous without being banal. It smells very balcon-y if it makes sense! I think this feeling comes from lilac.
Compared with original Idylle it seems that it is more or less the same simphony taken an octave higher. It's more acute, slightly peppery from peony, fresh and floral but with a soft sweet musky tone that never overpowers the rest of composition. It never becomes heavy in musk like the original. It could be a good scent for spring and also in winter if you spend most of your time indoors with heating.
It also screams "clean" but not hysterical hygienist! I'm not a fan of clean scents usually because they give me a hospital or nursing vibe, as if the wearer wanted to smell cleaner than clean in a fake way, but Idylle EdT is spared from that cold vibe. It's actually a girlish scent, very feminine without being teeny simple or cheap. It has some complexity and the whole fragrance is about clean, careless but classy, lively young lady. I don't think it could offend anyone if worn with caution at office, still it's interesting enough not to be confined to safe-whatever-smell-undertoned category. Spray more and you'll have a soft, radiant rain of coloured petals whirling around you! This is more fairy-like than Flora Nymphea or at leastnot a scary fairy!
Sillage is quite good and lasting power is average. Beautiful bottle.

The EdT is more luminous than the EdP, so I prefer the EdT-version. Idylle EdT is not overpowering and therefore suitable for the office. I am not much into office scents because generally I find them too sober and 'just nice'. To me every scent should be more than 'just nice'. So this one would be a great choice because it is decent but with a slightly wild site underneath. Recommended!

Poca

I got a sample of this perfume and I would love to have it, at least the 30ml bottle. ^_^ After using it for several days, I come to conclusion:

- Lovely fresh scent!
- So jasmine
- Not so overpowering
- Gentle, classy + classic
- OK staying power

Too bad, my mother finds it a bit irritating. But again, everyone has different nose to sniff, right? :)

kewart

I find Idylle EDT to be a very well-behaved, polite scent that suggests good manners and exemplary hygiene!
On me, the lily of the valley shines out more than any other note. I feel pretty when I wear this scent, but not edgy or overtly sensuous. It is hard to dislike it and it would be perfect for work as it is unlikely to offend anyone. A good stand-by,go-to scent IMO.

Yes I agree with hapa! The funny thing is that when I was testing the edp, I fell in love with the opening, but the drydown always gave me some doubts. It was this fresh delightfull floral with a dirty dry patchouli, and the whole time I thought how it would be without that strange patchouli. Well, it is the edt! Slightly softer, without that 'outsider note'. But somehow, even if I find that patchouli a bit weird in a not so fantastic way, I'm now not sure whether I would like to have the edt more. It seems like it lost a bit charactre. Lost some uniqueness. But the edt is still a very lovely one too :)

Had gone in for the purpose of trying on the EDP (for about the tenth time--I take my time committing to a fragrance) but ended up with the EDT on one wrist and the EDP on the other as well as samples of both from the very helpful sales associate at Debenhams on Henry Street. So I have had both on for 24 hours and will now try and articulate the differences between the two.

Firstly, they are both floral and somewhat sweet but in a very gentle and indulgent manner. One feels they are in a perfect bath surrounded by fresh flowers as opposed to being drenched in some 2 euro body spray. Rarely does a floral fragrance appeal to me as much as these two do. There is something about the possibility of smelling like a drawer liner or an old lady on the bus that normally keeps me far, far away from floral fragrances. This one in both EDT and EDP, however, has a hold on me.

The EDT is just the slightest bit more floral with what I think is a very fresh lilac. The EDP is just that bit more musky but ever so gently that one does not know it is musk they are smelling. Rather there is a very light "earthier" note that seems much more complex than musk.

In addition to the floral notes there is s very slight sweetness that seems more honey than burnt sugar. The EDT and EDP both have this in abundance but, again, in a rather muted effect.

Please do yourself the favour and try this and its sister on and see if you can see which you'd rather buy because I know I just might have to buy them both since they are both so perfect.
