Does anyone have this for trade/sale in the UK?

anthada

Absolute masterpiece by Guerlain, amazing scent for summer. I have two back up 100ml bottles sealed in box. Will entertain a sale. PM me.

Bros89

Unfortunately discontinued but I've found a bottle at a discounter and locally with a few ml used.

Nice minty fresh with the almond base like the rest of the line. I've come to love this even more than the cologne. What I did not expect was the longevity. I've sprayed some on my hand yesterday and I can still smell it 24 hours later!

Sam_NY_89

Tried this as a sample 3 years ago, beautiful fresh elegant classy, discontinued and extremely hard to find. there is also a Sport version which is not as good and so generic CK type of smell. If you could find a bottle don't hesitate.

DaveCave

The mint in this mixed with the neroli is what I love about this fragrance. My only regret is not getting two bottles when I ordered one. Fantastic!!

Sasha_M

I just saw 100ml bottle in Muller drugstore. 80€. I guess it's not disconnected....or they still have old batches.

gharper

This is one of the best fresh fragrances I've ever smelled, and probably my favorite one of all. It's a minty, refreshing, and invigorating blend of citrus and woods. It is genuinely tragic that this was discontinued. Even worse, I knocked over my bottle and shattered it. Only about 20ml remain.

Micho

I am genuinely upset about this perfume being discontinued!!
I swear it makes me mad 😠
I wish who ever discontinued this perfume to be prosecuted for perfume crimes 😅
Seriously, what a shame and literally a bad move from Guerlain; i lost my trust in this brand after such a bad decision!
Amazing perfume, the person behind this decision should never work in the perfume industry; perhaps at a retail store selling undies 🙊

Amen! Hallelujah!

Discontinuing this exquisite summer mint freshie was a criminal move and I am still on the verge of suing! This is so unfair! Just when I thought I have found my favourite mint fragrance it gets discontinued! How fucking rude of Guerlain! They churn out thousands of new and old fragrances yet it would kill them to keep this unique, interesting fresh gem alive for their customers? Angry and disappointed, ngl!

Javi L

One of the best flankers of the L'homme Idéal líne ever and one of the best fresh yet sofisticated fragrances ever. Excellent job by Thierry Wasser, versatile and perfect for both office and casual occasions.
Pity it is discontinued but the new Platine Privé is also an excellent replacement for both Cool and Cologne.

ladannazari

Just found out that this gem has been discontinued. This is my go to everyday scent. I can't get enough of that mind, almond combination. Is anybody open to selling their bottle? I can't find it anywhere online : (

Dixieland Delight

Tremendous.

If you find a bottle: don't hesitate.
I emptied a bottle of 100ml and the bottle was ready to throw away, next to the trash bin. My father smelled it and he was crazy about it. He asked me to get THAT EXACT SAME perfume....Well it is discontinued as you know 😅 Luckily I could find one last 100 ml bottle in a Fashion store that has no webshop ! 😀 A few days later I checked an online marketplace and there I found another bottle 50 ml, but the seller didn't want to ship - I drove 50 km by car to get that last bottle of L'Homme Ideal COOL 😎 So Unique, masculine and fresh at the same time.

Invasionbg

The more I'm wearing this the more I like it. It's so different than the designer perfumes. It lasts very long time and it projects just enough to be in the golden middle. I can consider this nische easily. 8.8/10 from me.

youeatcheese

The best in the L’homme Ideal line.
So unique - I really hope Guerlain brings this back.

Stevie_D

Love at first sniff for me. I sold Ideal Cologne as it just wasn't for me after initially liking it..too cloying and linear. This though.....is a beaut. The best mint I have sampled in a fragrance. Relaxing, refreshing, classy and cooling. Back up bottle worthy immediately before the prices go daft

makhiaveli

I love this one but it took a bit of getting used to.

This opens with a strong blast of anise for me, which is so strong it smells somewhat chemically (maybe the ambroxan has to do with this). I agree with others that it's reminiscent of toothpaste at first.

However, after about an hour, the anise dissipates and leaves a great mix of mint and almond. It's a creamy/musky smelling mix of the two, and smells sweet but not overpowering. This scent remains pretty linear for me throughout the whole lifetime of the fragrance, which seems to project at a moderate sillage up to 6 hours or so.

That being said, even after taking a shower and sleeping, I still woke up and could smell this faintly on my skin. The skin scent is absolutely delicious, almost smells like a mint and almond lotion.

This is going to be my go to summer fragrance in the Texas heat, it's cooling and sweet, but not overpowering enough to annoy anyone with its strength. It works well as a "default" fragrance you'd wear often in places like the office, but doesn't have too much of its own character to wear to something like a date or formal get together.

evertonnick3

Opens up very green and herbal, but dries down to a woody almondy scent. Very clean and easy to wear in moderately warm weather. Full bottle worthy For me, Not quite, but still enjoying the decant I have. 7/10.

Snnn

Fresh mint with almond after-smell. Special and clean due to mint but not watery clean.

Darckent

Just got an original formulation of this

This has to be the most unique summer fragrance I've ever smelt...it does have a toothpasty kind of smell but it's sooo well blended I can't help but like it

It's a unique fragrance that goes through layers as it dried down it's Soo unique I'm sure it will be a compliment getter (not had a chance to test it out yet)

It's Soo different to anything I've ever smelt I really like it, I have been sleeping on guerlain I now need to get the cologne & the others

Dixieland Delight

This stuff is fantastic.

Minty, fresh, rich, sweetish, classy, woody, masculine.

It's unique.

8.75 rating.

timhesse

Has anyone found a suitable replacement? This is by far the best 'cool mint' out there...nothing comes close.

My5Scents

The mint in the composition is the whole raison d’etre for the word “cool” in the name, as mint has a cooling effect on the skin - something very desirable in hot weather.
Personally I think it’s a genius move that makes the fragrance so refreshing on hot summer days. Guerlain have handled it perfectly with just the right restraint, its not too much IMHO and the excellent blending smooths out the more abrasive edges of mint so it’s really not at all like the harsh mint that you’d find in dental hygiene products.
Perhaps people who are getting mouthwash vibes haven’t had much experience of mint used in perfumery.
Without the mint it would be vastly different; far less inventive, far less interesting and far less enjoyable.
Bottom line - the mint is what makes it cool!

ScentEscape23!

I am interested in acquiring this fragrance. If anyone has one then please let me know.

Thanks

ismellsomething

Masterpiece. Mint and citrus makes that fresh, cooliing effect.

It was March 2023 and come across two dusty bottles on sale in fragrance shop, one batch code from 2019 and one from 2021. Seller has no idea what batch code is...

Because its citrus/mint fragrance that could go bad quicker, I took newer one from 2021, hopefully I did not made mistake.

napusikito

One of my favorite mints. I also have one full bottle if anyone is interested.

purplenoon

The original L'Homme Ideal EDT is just the perfect combination of fresh bitter orange, gentle almond and medicinal rosemary -- temperamental in warmer months, sure, but a versatile and easy reach throughout the rest of the year. I just love having a full bottle of it and reaching for it often.

That said, I have yet to muster any excitement for the flankers. I've tried the EDP and found the cherry note cloying and unnecessary; I guess the idea was to make the scent heavier and perhaps more formal, but to me this is like forcing a square into a triangle. The genius of L'Homme Ideal was precisely that it was so sophisticated and vivacious, and that extra sweet cherry note in the EDP just felt like Guerlain pandering to trends.

I'm sad to report that the same thing happened here, albeit in a different direction. I guess the pitch was, "L'Homme Ideal but for the gym bag." I tried it at an airport and while the initial blast was very interesting -- a cross between L'Homme Ideal and the iconic mojito fragrance that is Guerlain Pour Homme -- the drydown quickly turned generic and bubblegummy, the patchouli turning any sophistication in the DNA into an olfactory experience closer to mouthwash. It indeed is light and airy, designed to wear well in hot weather, but it's boring, generic and unimaginative. Lightly offensive to the nose, but a way bigger offence to the Ideal line.

Invasionbg

Very underrated. Bought another bottle because of the discontinuation.
Great stuff.

Fortyfree

Opens very fresh and minty, has a light, slightly mentholated quality. Strong citrus notes are present too, very bright. As it develops it remains citrussy and becomes more medicinal. The drydown is different giving the fragrance two distinct halves. The base has a lovely woody/nutty aroma which still projects and acts as nice counterpart to the minty opening. This is more of a hot-weather scent, suits men aged 30+, projection and longevity both decent.

MAKSTR

Not the refreshing uplifting mint I hoped for, it has that mouthwash type bitterness to it and that sharp mint dominates for 3 hrs but still remains where I can't pick another proper note in scent, it's just so compound. Gets to a point where I wanted to wash it off.

Scent 5/10
Sillage 7/10
Longevity 8/10 I didn't care after 4 hrs but I think it will remain on skin for 6 hrs.
Value 5/10

There is a review about Ideal Cool on YouTube where the reviewer asks his young daughter wich fragrance she likes more. Ideal Cologne or Ideal Cool. She answers Ideal Cologne. Ideal Cool reminds her of toothpaste. And that's the same experience I had with Ideal Cool. In the perfume store it smelled great almondy with freshness from citrus and a nice dry down of anise and patchouli. When I opened my fresh bottle I was very disappointed by this "dentist perfume". I liked the dry down though and kept on using it. After six months the peppermint toothpaste smell is toned down because of maceration. And I am beginning to really like this one. I hunted for a bottle of Ideal Cologne but that one got discontinued to regret of myself and many others. What a strange and unwise decision by Guerlain. And now they discontinued Cool as well. Now I am laying in my bed with a nasty corona and sprayed Ideal Cool to brighten up my day and I really like it. It has almost a medicinal purpose for me. But I cannot follow the men's perfumery policy at Guerlain at all. It's lacking something really great. Offcourse Guerlain L'Instant Homme EDP and EDT are still the best for me. But I'm confused about this epic French perfume company concerning masculine fragrances.

swagbornslayer

I am surprised at how much recognition (both positive and negative) this fragrance receives. However, I find less surprising that this fragrance has been discontinued. It is strong in mint and the mint remains, at least on my skin, its very long present and noticeable. I like this fragrance, but is very rarely used. Its a like not a love.

molecularentropy

Bought a 50mL of Cool from David Jones blindly. Regret it. It has a very mouth-wash type of a vibe to it. Mouth-wash combined with some sort of cleaning agent. I really don't like this scent. I blind-bought it because of several reviews, both here and on other places, saying that this is the spiritual successor to Cologne.

Heed these words, reader: This is not like Cologne at all! Please, for the love of all that is holy, if you like Cologne, you're not automatically going to like this. This is a radically different take on Ideal. It's closer to the original EdT if anything.

PM me if you want to swap this for something. I have 4 sprays used from the 50mL. I'd like to get rid of this.

Zaca

This was available at David Jones in Australia recently but I couldn't find it anywhere else. Emailed Guerlain customer service (USA - they don't seem to have an Australia/Oceania division) who confirmed Guerlain L'Homme Ideal is discontinued. Part of the email read:

"We kindly recommend you to discover Habit Rouge L'Instinct - Eau de Parfum.

This fragrance is different in terms of the harmony of the notes, however, it may evoke the same emotions as L'Homme Idéal Cool with its aromatique accents and green notes."

Hmmm... time to stock up.

This went from being widely available to not just discontinued but actually impossible to find even online so fast I didn't even have time to blink. What a shame, it's a great frag with a very well done mint note. I hope we'll get a new fresh L'Homme Ideal as a replacement.

Invasionbg

Apparently discontinued…. die IFRA! You and you stupid restrictions 👍
We’re sick of reformulations and discontinuations damn you… You are killing the whole magic of perfumery 😡😡🤬🤬

abbieclark67

Great and clean perfume. Lovely

bleukreuz

It's ok but the smells reminds me of laundry detergent or fabric softener. I am a bit disappointed.

isakasyv

Zingy mint and anise. definitely very green and leafy
Alot of people compare the smell to mouth wash, and i do have to say i agree. but i still love it for what it is.
A very nice wake-up scent if you need a boost, and trust me, this punches you right in the nose and wakes you up

Diddleydaddy6901234

Very very similar to Ideal Cologne. Probably a little bit stronger in terms of projection. Longevity somewhere between average and long lasting. Definitely slightly above average anyway.
Its really a great high heat freshie. I love it.

aj.mourad

they went heavy on the mint cuz it's all I smell, can't complain tho

dude98

Magical fragrance, wow.

dontcrossdev

A lot of the online personalities give not just this bottle but a few in the range a difficult time. I've not had my nose on many of the iconic guerlains but this is really lovely. Is it timeless? no but it fills that modern fougere slot really nicely.

It's complex, quite unique (okay smells a lot like Homme) It's elegant, fresh clean, a little bit of anise spice coming though but a little sexy too. The mint is really well done and if i'm honest smells like a morning routine but the almond, creamy base and neroli bring it back to fun refinement.

Deniz S

I was on the hunt for a nice summer fragrance so I went to try a bunch of fragrances.
After 2-3 visits to Sephora I came home with a bunch of fragrance strips in my pockets.
I lined them up on my table at home and smelled them one by one.

L'homme Ideal Cool was the only one I couldn't stop smelling. It was such a magical smell.

It starts off with a citrusy-minty blast which quickly turns to more off a minty smell.
After a few minutes the mint slowly starts to go away to reveal the amazing almond and ambroxan mixture.

It is a very comfortable, slightly minty summer fragrance with an amazing dry down.

I have not tried the Cologne flanker as it is sold out so I can't compare the two.
Will wear this during spring/summer and the EDP during autumn/winter.

If you have the chance, go and smell it in a store before you blind buy it.

Edit: Ok so I got a hold of a bottle of the discontinued Cologne (for a high price) since everyone was hyping it.
They smell nothing alike.
Cologne is citrus from start to finish and Cool is minty start and then fades to a minty/almondy drydown.

Cologne is more of a sharp citrusy daytime fragrance and Cool is more of a calmer evening fragrance. Cool is a more mature smell and I prefer it as it has more character.

POORMAN-SCENT

It’s true that the mint note here is synthetic, but it’s high class mint, and extremely well blended.

generally, this fragrance has the most skilful mint and ambroxan mixture in a bottle ever… for me.

3NO7

This stuff is great! Smells like the cologne with an added mint note.

Very clean and well put together.

Mina Abdo

Ver unique summer release. Its mainly almond and mint with citrus and vetiver background.
Performance and projection is above average, and definitely attention grabbing.

Fabricio

Vert comfortable smell. Main notes are sweet mint, almonds and woods for me. Great for temperatures up to 27 C. Not to good for very Hot and humid weather. Then I would go for a citrusy fresh.

Bigmike650

If anyone has a bottle of this they’d be willing to swap please send me a message 👍🏽 I’ve been wanting to add this to my collection for quite some time now

hverduyckt

Hello everyone,

this seems to be discontinued.

I find the new Invictus Platinum in the same vibe with minty aspect and maybe more toned down than this one.

Regards

ersin.kadiroglu

Best mint for summer just get it

youeatcheese

I really didn’t like this fragrance at the first sniff.
But, then gradually I started liking it. Now, Ideal Cool is one of my very favorite warmer weather scents.

Modern, classy and elegant in Guerlain way - absolutely beautiful!

Bigmike650

If anyone has a bottle of this that’s at least 75% full and is willing to swap for one of my fragrances go ahead and message me and we can negotiate a deal 👍🏽

فکر می کنم مخصوص هوای معتدل و شاید گرم باشه. پخش و ماندگاری خوبی داره. من حس خوبی ازش پیدا می کنم."

ObsessedJoydjay

References to menthol mouthwash are quite correct (mint-anise), though quite balanced by the citruses and vetiver.

The opening instantly reminds of Givenchy Very Irresistible Summer Cocktail (mint-star anise) and a little of Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, followed by a sort of Armani Code Sport dry down.

Not as bright/cheerful as Le Male Fraiche Popeye.
Not as thick patchouli as Mugler Kryptomint.

Any reference to Versace Eros is potentially misleading as Ideal Cool has no sweet vanilla/tonka.

dabatch

probably the best flanker of 2019. and the best of the ideal line.

Omarcito

Just blind bought this perfume based off of reviews on here and I’m glad I did! The Smell on this one is intoxicating!
Mint Note is very powerful at first spray but quick starts diminishing within a few minutes but it never goes away (with my experience at least). It has that fantastic Ideal DNA with that nice almond in the mids.
To describe the smell, it smells like the original EDT without the leather in the base and with some added freshness especially greenness , a slight aquatic touch, and that wonderful mint up top. Gives me some slight Eros vibes aswell.
So Basically a more fresh, aquatic and green version of the EDT that’s a bit more playful and youthful due to the absence of leather.

I recommend it!
A solid 9-9.5/10!

Aslanyus

Smells great very good quality juice Guerlain always gives high quality product one of my favourites.
It opens up with mentol mint, citrus and little bit sweet nutty almond that mint goes after 10 minutes watery note and neroli is noticeable gives fragrance some twist ambroxan is little bit noticable it improves performance of this fragrance. Very green scent if you are not big fan of green scents you dont need to try. It took time to understand this fragrance every Guerlain fragrances is like that you have to give it a time.
Dry down of this fragrance is perfection vetiver and nutty almond one of the best summer fragrances.
Longevity 6-7 hours on skin on clothes I get 9-10 hours
Projection 1-2 hour average than it turns into close to skin
10/9

amine23894

starts off with mint and bitter almond, then you get that watery note and settles down to ambroxan with a little bit of almond and traces of watery notes + mint
that's it
performance is weak, longevity is okay but projection is mediocre , you have to dig your nose into your skin to smell the sweetness of ambroxan
it smells nice and refreshing but you will have to apply every couple hours

aussiediparma

Definitely agree with the reviewer below. The slightly sweet, almond drydown is highly enjoyable and gives this frag a nice density to it that is unexpected for a fresh frag.

I find the mint opener to be quite cooling in the warmer weather, while refreshing and uplifting.

Overall really solid for an office scent. Start the day with the cooling opener and then get that nice drydown when stuck in the office in the afternoon.

Kelz23

Received this one and ideal cologne in the mail today and was eager to smell the juices. A lot of people say this is the replacement for the cologne. I guess you could say that being that they are both on the “fresher” side of the line. But they don’t smell a like in any way. Cool is a greener scent. The beginning is definitely minty but that doesn’t last long. I do pick up on the neroli and almond. Ambroxin is there but not very loud. Overall it’s a good scent. I do like cologne better though. It’s so smooth and slightly sweet. Both good scents

doodluv

Although I don't particularly enjoy most of the L'homme Ideal line, this one is a hit in my book.
I keep reaching for it at least twice a week, so that's definitely a good sign.
It's a unique freshie in that it doesn't rely on citrus for it's freshness (although citrus is listed in the notes), but instead it gets it from a very fun cherry + mint combination.
If that combo sounds like something you'd enjoy, give this frag a try!

Lukman Pratin

Lots of reviewer said that most of frags from this line are light or transparant. I don't get that, maybe it's because I live in tropical country? I don't know.

But for sore, I've tried EDP, Cologne, Sport, and Cool. All these four, IMO, are pretty dense, thick if I may say. Cologne & Cool are best for warmer weather. Cologne for day, while Cool is better for night I think. The Sport, I feel it is the least 'dense', it is the lightest, the 'airy-est'.

Still, if I had to choose only one from the line, the EDP would still be my obvious pick.

ElChapo18

Ideal DNA with a blast of Mint and Citrus up front.

The mint lasted a while on my skin, barely a "green" scent.

Good value, quite easily a unisex scent, but fragrantica seems to disagree with me on that.

discardedandroid

For sure this has the original DNA (which is quite unique and good value) which I can only describe as a sort of tart cherry almond butter... But it's also got a huge blast of mint. Very unique for a "fresh" scent. Recommend.

byronius5

My impressions: L'Homme Ideal Cool starts off with a mint note very much like a minty toothpaste, along with a bright hit of citrus at the beginning. The mint didn't last very long on my skin, it was gone within a few minutes, and the citrus lasted a little longer, maybe half an hour, before it blended in with the almond note the Ideal line is known for. This all dried down to a pleasant vetiver and a mild ambroxan. The performance was interesting in that it had a decent longevity, about five, maybe six hours, but it sat pretty close to the skin almost the entire time. It did get a bit more intense when I went outside under the sun though. Overall, it's pleasant, I just wish it had the presence of the EdP or the Cologne.

Guccipordior

This is so good, I might like it more than the Cologne. I can see why it replaced it- I don't think it should have, but the two are actually too similar to have both. The Cool has the mint aspect which I think sets it apart more from other fragrances, as there are a lot of citrusy openings in fragrances, especially using grapefruit. As beautiful and perfect as Cologne is, Cool was love at first smell for me as Cologne was.

Cool has a minty, menthol opening to it, mixed with that unmistakable EDT DNA. The almond and mint create a beautiful opening, the "Cherry" vibe is here too and it all mixes together quite nicely. The drydown is like the EDT and the Cologne combined, without the grapefruit. The mint is present throughout. It is cooling to spray on, and is a nice herbal, green, cooling mint, not a toothpaste or sweet mint. Guerlain always does a good natural smell.

Cool is the summer version of the EDT. Cologne is really good, but I feel like Guerlain should release that as a fragrance on its own right. I think Cool retains a lot of the original DNA and fits into the line more. Cologne should be a standalone release, that should still exist. I really do like Cool a lot, and it may be my favorite flanker. I found a good deal on ebay for this, but it isn't available for that cheap very often, so get it while you can.

I am looking to get Extreme, but it is impossible in the US, at a decent price. If anyone can help- let me know.

Scuervo1

Guerlain Ideal l'Homme Cool is the latest flanker of the Ideal l'Homme line. It is categorized by its minty and fresh opening resembling the menthol taste of the green Listerine mouthwash due to the anise in the top note, in which it is often used in alcoholic beverages. The infamous sweet almond accord is introduced after a few minutes, leaving the way for the ambroxan and aquatic accords that can be found in the base of the fragrance. The sweet menthol "shower-like" smell goes on until Ideal Cool becomes a skin scent, and I can confidently say it last for about 5-6 hours on my skin. It also lasts longer on clothes. I can smell the ambroxan on my collar even after my clothes are washed.

Since I generally dislike citrus notes due to their scratchy nature, personally, I think the mint note is a great substitute for fresh fragrances in today's age. Ideal Cool can be used in all seasons, and it works perfectly in the extreme heat. It has mass appealing undertones with its sweet and subtle ambroxan accord, and due to the mint, it also has an old school vibe to it. I highly doubt people will be put off by it, and the star of the fragrance is in its drydown. If I can imagine how this fragrance would look like, I would picture someone coming off their shower after playing a competitive sport such as soccer, with their face shaven and their teeth brushed. Also, I can picture someone shaving their face in a locker room at their local franchised gym, with the steam and body wash smell coming off the sauna and showers.

I don't know if I consider it sexy or seductive but it pulls off compliments, and in the end, you will smell good and non-generic at all for the hotter months of the year.

Like.

C_Fraydrances

I really enjoy Ideal Cologne and I understand the disappointment in its discontinuation, but is Ideal Cool an improvement? Sorry, my fellow Cologne lovers, but yeah it really is! Cologne is a safe, pleasant scent with the creamy almond Ideal DNA.. Cool is a unique and intoxicating scent that opens with the most beautifully balanced combination of citrus notes, licorice and mint, then comes the creamy almond. It also performs great for a fresh scent....better than Cologne. I give an edge to Cologne in the dry down, though it is pretty much a skin scent at that point.

RisingChaos

Softer, slightly powdery mint than what's in Guerlain Homme EDP. Has a very weird progression of accords as it dries down. The mid notes come in prominently and there's this syrupy sweetness to it all, then as it progresses the almond and aquatics completely exit and leave behind a sweet, minty orange. Weak projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-8hr.

All in all, it's okay, but Guerlain Homme EDP is just better if you want a cheap, fresh mint scent from the same house.

ArmanH

Finally I own this! I used to have a small sample vial and I loved the smell instantly. I paid 35 euro for 100ml tester and this is the perfect High Quality fresh summer fragrance with mint, anis and almond. I can't detect citrus based fragrances, that's why I like this even more!

The smell keeps pushing to my nose ❤️😍

OR279

I get no similarity with cologne version or maybe just a small hint in the dry down. I like that as I have both and don't want them to be similar.
Cool to me is minty fresh with hints of neroli. No citruses and just a little sweet. I like it!

Kuldeep S

Minty fresh and sweet. Kinda remind me of Burberry for men.

Candyandy

Interesting scent. Very unique compared to anything designer being released these days.
You get a lot of mint in the opening. Too much mint for my taste. But over the first 30 minutes the mint starts to fade and make space for the signature cherry-almond note and I start to like it way more then. But the real magic comes after another 30-60 minutes. The almond becomes more rounded and really nice. I have the same issue with most fragrances centered around mind, I tend to dislike them in the opening and gradually enjoy them more and more as they dry down. The mint is always present here but after the first 30 minutes it's playing a supporting role in the background and I appreciate it there much more than in the front.
I find this to be a good way to bring the Ideal aroma into a fragrance that you can wear casually during the day. I always wondered why they replaced Ideal Cologne with this, but I think Cool makes more sense as one-fragrance replacement for both Ideal Cologne and Ideal Sport (both are discontinued). Then I get why Cool isn't just light and summery.
Side note: there is an ongoing conversation going around all the fragrances in the Ideal line about whether the central cherry-almond note smells "old" and whether it is enjoyable to wear and smell for young people. I can just say that I personally like it, and my when I gave my girlfriend the original l'homme Ideal and YSL la nuit de l'homme to try side by side, she liked Ideal more. I wouldn't worry about smelling "old" at all.
Overall I think I like this fragrance, I respect they are going in a different direction than the rest of the market with it. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the mint. That note will make or break this fragrance for you way more than the cherry-almond will I think.

The original dna is definitely there
But with mint oooohhhh yes mint
I just can’t get the hate this gets
It’s incredible how beautiful this thing is blended

Completely agree with SearchingScents below - this is a real childhood smell. That's part of its appeal to wear and for others to smell on you. In fact, it smells as you once assumed most aftershaves should. And what's that? Well - robust, confident, very masculine (no two ways about that here) and very, very French. It's the kind of aftershave you can imagine Yves Montand wearing, if that makes sense. If it were paired with a traditional shaving cream like Palmolive Original, you could almost bliss out on the wholesomeness overload. It's the smell of cleanness, actually, condensed, bottled and comforting. Strongly recommended.

UPDATE AFTER TWO WEEKS:

I like this more and more. The drydown has a lovely solidity to it, and good longevity, and there's something captivating (and completely reliable) about the blend of almond and mint. My ex, a perfume expert who was blase about everything I've worn (Dunhill Edition, Givenchy Gentleman, some Floris, Acqua di Gio) said 'Oh my God, what a nice smell' when I walked in. It is - those who like this at the outset will end up loving it. I've just bought a 100 ml bottle on top of the 50ml, without a trace of buyer's remorse. This one is a keeper.

This is a very nostalgic freshie for me that reminds me of when I was young and my dad and I would get ready for work and school. When he finished preparing for work the bathroom always smelled fresh and clean and strongly of minty mouthwash and sometimes if I was finished brushing my teeth fast enough I would be able to join him for a quick swig of listerine.

Yes! Guerlain L'homme Ideal Cool is a comforting herbal freshie that sustains a very cool medicinal mint at the top accentuated by an aromatic spicy anise creating a strong fantasy pharmaceutical mentholated sensation. The texture is a bit heavy to the nose like a humid bathroom in the morning after getting prepared for work if you can imagine this. On me this is a stellar performer for a fresh fragrance I get some good time off this at the 7-8 hour mark where the spicy anise and ambroxan keep an attractive but creamy modern freshness alive after the top notes of mint die off. I don't smell too much almond but I feel its quiet essence of nuttiness does exist and just helps lower the vibe of the fragrance to feel heavier, since a composition with such zingy notes might make an aggressive and punchy first impression without the staying energy to maintain it. A creamy somewhat watery almond helps to pace the composition through its stages of development allowing them to slowly transform from mint, to fresh, to creamy aromatic and leave you with a much more refined wearing experience - a fragrance that doesn't smell cheap*

L'Homme Ideal Cool is a scent that feels like anticipation, like readiness and alertness, like "I am ready and excited to take on today's challenges!". It is a pleasure to have a fragrance that so effortlessly allows me to feel like that in my collection. A great fresh fragrance one of my favorite grab and go's. A very excellently constructed mint fragrance that doesn't rely on a poor performing mint to do its work! This is getting a lot of wear from me in the summer!

These Guerlain l'Homme Ideals look like Power-Rangers on my shelf and I love it. I don't mind if the line continues but other great ones in the line will get the boot for it. If another freshie in the l'Homme Ideal line be made I would be excited for it to either be an almond based fougère - probably one of the first, and a good signature scent, or a rummy Mai Tai based fragrance with creamy almond orgeat syrup on top of fresh and understated fruity elements. I know Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk have the blending magic!

8.5/10

I really dislike the opening and early-mid of this fragrance. It feels confused. It's like a sporty aftershave that just... I don't think it works very well and that's specifically due to the way that the creamy almond nuttiness leaks into the mint and then is sharply contrasted by the anise. The citruses are not helping either. The opening-- it just doesn't feel cohesive, it isn't clean and fresh either due to the confusion. It's not telling a clear scent story-- you feel me? On top of that, it feels very tackily masculine, which is a turn-off for me. I don't think I want to spray this on because I have to deal with the opening of it.

The dry down, however, I think it is sexy as hell. I'm wondering if I can maybe layer some molecule 01 or 02 onto the dry down and get a really nice projecting mix for the base. Is it worth keeping just for the dry down? After all, that is the longest part of the fragrance experience... the dry down starts popping through for me about 45 mins in. We shall see...

I like this so much I think it deserves more respect
Performance is pretty good 5-7 hours on my skin
Projection is moderate
And l'homme ideal cool is my third favourite from the whole line.

Casual Hobbyist

To my subjective sense, this one has more anise than mint. I was expecting a very clear, uplifting and fresh mint as in for example peppermint tea, combined with the sweetness of almond. Instead, the anise and mint are quite dense to the point where I cannot recognize the mint individually yet, only insofar that it adds a "freshness" to the whole mix.

The almond is there, but it is different from L'homme Ideal EDT and EDP: not as sweet, mixed with anise with a sense of dense freshness, which is slightly synthetic.
Everytime I smell it, I notice something different. One time it's barbershop fougere, like Accqua Di Parma Club Colonia (hence the "greenness" many have noted). The next time it's very almond heavy. The third, almost only anise to the point where it almost feels like mint liqourice.

By no means is this a bad fragrance. Guerlain makes quality stuff and that is very noticeable. So if you want a fragrance that is unique and a different kind of fresh than you might be used to, this will not dissapoint. My advise, however, is try it before you you buy it, because by the descriptions of this fragrance online, I would not have guessed that it would smell the way it does. This one is a long-term investment: you need to get used to it in some time, but once you do, it smells good.

Green, grassy mint.

L’Homme Ideal Cool is a great aromatic mint fragrance.

It is minty through and through, with a hefty dose of aromatic and tingly anise, and a water note for a light, airy feeling. This is set on a green background of vetiver, neroli, and patchouli. These three make a base for the fragrance that is not overt but provide rich greenness behind the more prominent notes.

The end smell is a green, airy, light mint smell.

It does indeed smell like Guerlain Homme EDP but L’Homme Ideal Cool is better by being less woody and more airy/watery thanks to the water/ambroxan mix.

What spoils the scent of Cool for me a little is the anise. The dose is hefty at the drydown and I am not a big fan of it.

Still, L’Homme Ideal Cool remains a great masculine aromatic mint fragrance for those interested. Suitable for all ages and the warmer seasons.

Cool gets a nice, cool and big "Like" from me.

youeatcheese

One of the best spring/summer fragrances.

Expecting something similar to IDEAL Cologne, I found IDEAL Cool rather disappointing at the first sniff. But, then it slowly grew on me and now I think it is so unique and intoxicating. Although there are a quite few mint fragrances out there in the market usually the mint scent in those lasts only for a short time on my skin. IDEAL Cool, on the other hand, can keep the mint scent going and it stays minty for much longer.

The longevity is not great.
Nonetheless, this is a great fragrance.

SomeAI

This fragrance is so underrated in my opinion. I blind-bought L'Homme Idéal Cologne after having read all these reviews speaking about its clear superiority over the LHI Cool and I think it was the first and last time I give so much credit to online reviews.

The smell of Guerlain LHI Cool is so hypnotizing! I can't get enough of it! It is the type of smell that would get me to follow a stranger a couple of streets before getting back to my business.

In my opinion, this is the best flanker of the whole collection!

if you are not a collector of l'homme ideal , you can easily pass on this one

mutatismutandis

Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal Cool is a pleasant scent.

The opening gives three main themes: there are almonds, some citrus (definitely orange and bergamot, I can't make up my mind up if there is neroli because that's a smooth smell in a well-blended, smooth perfume), plus mint, with the mint being the least prominent of the three. The anise gives the perfume a hint of spiciness. There is a soft/moderate projection.

About one and a half hours later the scent has altered a little. It's weaker in its projection and the citrus notes have gone to be replaced with a sense of jasmine and some neroli added to the almonds and mint.

Five hours in and it's mostly gone. Certainly it's all gone by seven hours.

The key question with any perfume is "does it smell nice?" Well, yes. But then it has a problem. As far as I can see, it doesn't really have an obvious purpose as far as I can see. The sport serves the water/aquatic/freshy role in the line up. So what exactly is Cool for? It doesn't perform the same role as the cologne did. I think this may be a marketing mis-step. Guerlain has replaced an excellent scent with a good one but not given it an obvious role. Oh well, ours not to know or to reason why!

Do I recommend you buy it? Well, if you want a nice freshy and you haven't had the sport or the Ideal Cologne, then I'd say a tentative yes. If you have either of the others, there's not much point.

Mont Blanc Presence, anyone?

IllumineArt

It’s become a high heat dumb reach for me this summer. Mint note isn’t as strong as something like colonia clubs or you or someone like you. It blends nicely with the ambroxan which is also well done. This might be my favorite use of ambroxan thus far right behind Luna rosa Carbon.

I also like this more than the Cologne which gets a little too gourmand for a dumb reach. At discounters this a no brainer unless you’re anti mint / aquatics / ambroxan.

karl pearson youtube

For me this smells similar to lacoste booster, better quality but weaker version of it. nice high heat fragrance, mint soon goes leaving a clean fresh herbal scent.

fisken23

This one is so much better than Cologne!! Don’t get me wrong, I like Cologne. But the mint, almond and anise in this one is gorgeous! This one feels thicker and last longer.
Guerlain know what they are doing.

piyux

Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cool opens with a moderate projection of spicy, almond, and watery notes. The opening is very fresh, bright, cooling, minty, and pleasant. The mint and anise are the most prominent notes, they create a great cooling, green and fresh accord; the bergamot and orange are behind with a sharp citrus touch that combines very well with the spices enhancing the overall freshness. The neroli is a soft white floral touch. The watery notes come across as a non-salty freshwater note. As he fragrance commences to dry-down, the vetiver and patchouli create a fresh green touch, the vetiver is more noticeable than the patchouli. The ambroxan is the last and projecting note, the ambroxan works well projecting the fragrance and its notes. The most important opening to a dry-down change in this fragrance is, the opening contains a sharp citrus note, specifically bergamot, however it gradually dissipates towards the dry-down, simultaneously, the vetiver grows to create a fresh green note. Also, the initial moderate projection changes to moderate to low. Once Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cool has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to soft projection, minty, anis, almond, and watery fragrance with soft vetiver and white floral accords. The fragrance feels airy, breezy, delicate, diluted, diurnal, faint, fresh, inviting, light, modern, natural, slightly salty, short-lived, simple, spicy, sweet, unisex, white, and pleasant.

Cologne Sport and Cool are all similar but Cologne is far the best from those 3.

Cool & creamy. The opening is fantastic and unusual: The minty almond and anise makes it different and memorable. I imagine this what a dark haired, handsome, French-looking well-built guy with a large nose would wear. The fragrance for Adam Driver. Maybe even Adrien Brody. It is my favorite from the ideal line so far.

It suits to any occasion except being very casual. I would use it in the office or social gatherings. Ideally for fall and spring. Can be also used indoors in winter and maybe in cool summer evenings.

Longevity is not good 4-5 hours, projection is loud for 1 hour(2 meters), nice for the 2.hour (half a meter) and then not much.

Mr Finer Things

I agree with those who say that L'Homme Ideal Cool is very similar to Cologne and don't really see what all the mourning is about. You're pretty much just replacing the grapefruit for the mint and anise, and then the musky base for an ambroxan one. But overall, they're very very similar fragrances. The slight watery minty nuance helps the fragrance live up to its name and makes it ideal for warm weather. So, don't go unicorn hunting if you don't have to!

Finnegan

It is quite good though!

L’Homme Ideal Cool had a very very tough release to cope with.
Generally being considered the reason for the “beloved” L’Homme Ideal Cologne being discontinued, most likely sparked some antipathy toward this release.
While Ideal Cologne was widely praised, the sales numbers must not have been that great, otherwise Guerlain would not have felt it necessary to put out a replacement.

Even before I got this, I got two back-up bottles of Ideal Cologne, because after the EdP it is my favourite of the line and both are among my absolute favourite fragrances in my collection.
They complete each other very well, with one being a winter and the other a summer scent.
I did not want to take any chances with Cool being a bad release and soon having to pay more than a hundred bucks for the Cologne version on eBay, because there are no more bottles left.

Now that it is hitting discounters I got a bottle of Ideal Cool and gave it a test ride for the last three days.
I have to say that I love it just as much as L’Homme Ideal Cologne.
Is it similar? Yes! Is it different? Yes!

It keeps the Ideal line DNA, with the sweet almonds, while the citrus accords are dialled back heavily.
While Cologne has the sweet and sour opening of lots of citrus, Cool comes at you with mint and a subtle anise. It retains the bergamot as a citrus note, but this opening is different enough to stand wide apart from Ideal Cologne. I actually do not get that much of a watery vibe until the mid to dry down, but it is present nevertheless.

During the mid it is sweeter than Cologne which I will come back to later.
I do like/love neroli scents and mixed with the almond it is sweet L'Homme Ideal line heaven.

The dry down is very similar to Cologne though. Very weak vetiver, which is too weak for my taste considering that Guerlain actually has some great vetiver scents available and can certainly do more with it.

If Ideal Cologne never existed Cool would have been the perfect spring/summer partner to the fall/winter EdP version with its heavenly cherry.
That said Ideal Cologne did/does exist and here comes my only problem comparing it to Ideal Cologne.
Cool is slightly sweeter all the way through and the anise in the opening actually gives me a bit of a cooler weather vibe, while the citrussy sour notes of Cologne just scream "Come on buddy, go get a refreshment in this summer heat" to me.
Therefore, to me as a fan of the line Cool and Cologne would have worked side-by-side very well, with Cool sticking to its name, being a spring and summer even early fall fragrance, which is worn on the colder days. Early spring, when it is 5-10°C in the morning and only gets warm during daytime, with the sun announcing the coming/going of summer. Also during colder perhaps rainy summer days.
Ideal Cologne to me always works best on the warmer days. When the first heatwave hits some time during late March to May or later in the high summer heat. To me Cool feels too sweet for those days.

So, as someone who is into fragrances I would probably continue buying both and use them as described, but I do understand that from a strict business perspective these two fragrances would cannibalise each other, because casual fragrance wearers will only get one of these and apparently, they did not like Cologne as much as the “fanatics”.

Overall, Guerlain replaced a good fragrance in Ideal Cologne, with a good fragrance in its own right.
I am sad Cologne is discontinued, but I am not mad at Cool for that being the case.

Now that this is off my heart let’s give some actual numbers here:

Smell: 9.5/10 (just like I would give Ideal Cologne)
Longevity: I get a good 6+ hours out of this, just like with Cologne
Sillage: moderate bordering on heavy, especially during the 1,5h opening
Sadness factor for Guerlain discontinuing Ideal Cologne: 11/10

What I have to add is that Guerlain is also confusing the hell out of their customers right now.
Apparently they removed the coloured frosting/cotaing covering the sides of the Ideal line bottles. (Cologne was white, EdP reddish brown, the original EdT had a black outline). Several people apparently now think they get fakes, because there is a mix of bottles in circulation now. Some older ones with the frosting and the new clear bottles. Mine was actually depicted without frosting, but I received a Cool bottle with the grey frosting around the sides.
Just FYI.

Zaca

L’Homme Ideal Cool seems to be the most-maligned of the L’Homme Ideal line, especially because its launch coincided with the discontinuation of the Cologne. In fact, LHIC is my favourite of them all (I haven’t tried the newly-released Extreme yet)

I think one of the reasons that LHIC is heavily criticised is because while other L’Homme Ideal flankers either embellish or strip back the core almond note, here Thierry Wasser uses the almond note to take LHIC in a totally different direction: it opens sweet, fresh and minty. The mint is toothpaste mint, but when combined with other notes such as the orange, anise and almond, the scent is almost that of a refreshing fantasy dessert (instead of the heavy, decadent desserts gourmand perfumes so often emulate) That is not to say LHIC is a gourmand. It is not, but personally brings to mind that association.

It’s great for spraying on first thing in the morning - it smells both aromatic and uplifting - with excellent longevity and moderate projection. A clear ambroxan note becomes more prominent as the aromatics slowly fade, but it does not bother me nearly as much as some other ambroxan-heavy fragrances. I also received three compliments in the space of two days wearing this recently.*

Guerlain is the master at creating fragrances that are more than the sum of their parts, and LHIC is a perfect example of this. One of my all-time favourites and quickly becoming one of the fragrances that feels like a part of me. It also helps that mint, almond and anise are three of my favourite notes in perfumery. Love the mint-green colour too!

* While compliments are nothing more than a pleasant surprise for me - I’m far too selfish to wear fragrances to please other people - for those who may be interested in the context and situation: a down-to-earth late forties/early fifties co-worker in passing; an assertive mid-twenties nurse manager when I entered her office; and a beautiful, tattooed mid-late twenties waitress who shyly asked the name of it.

Schmellin_Good

Contrary to popular opinion, after much wear testing, I think this is just as good as L'Homme Ideal Cologne. Albeit very different.

It has a SUPER minty freshness. Reminds me a bit of Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint without the oud note and with less citrus.

Projection is really strong for the first 20-30 minutes and then calms down quite a bit. Though not weak by any means.

Persian206

I'm not the biggest fan of the IDEAL line. Up until this point the EDT was my favorite and the EDP also OK. I would not deem either bottle worthy imo. I think i'm not a big fan of almond..idk. BUT Cool is very nice and I will buy a bottle as soon as it hits discounters. Although this is an unpopular opinion, I much prefer this over the Cologne. The Cologne, Intense, and Sport were all hard passes for me.

alvinzm

Very similar to ideal sport or cologne, but this one has a very prominent minty (as in toothpastes) note that stays till the end. The almond and watery notes are there too, like any L’Homme ideal line. Why would they discontinue the L’Homme ideal cologne and replace it with this one is beyond me.

With that being said, I love it but it’s no better than the cologne. Lasts for 6 to 7 hours with a good projection.

Spasticink

Ideal Cool = Ideal Sport + mint.
Redundant release and they discontinued Cologne which is far better than both above. Fuck logic Guerlain...
This is still very good frag, because its Guerlain and Thierry Wasser always delivers.

jp.nase2105

Sorta like this one, actually it can be use anytime anywhere its safe for office and intimate.

The Vibe i get is really freshly sweet
an approach of citrusy mint at the opening then subtles to an aquatic almond sweetness to mid and base.

Guerlain Ideal Cool it sure have a unique twist of aquatic accords structure that is comparable to Dior Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel.

Oleo

This is a perfect, modern, new and fresh fragrance: A true and ultra-cool head turner... From Guerlain.

IMO, this is a big "punch on the table" in designer's fragrance trends.

-------------

- Longevity: 7h +/-.

- Projection: First average (1-2h), then moderate for most of its lifetime.

- Mood: It's an invigorating, delicious and refreshing fragrance... It always suits you: It's modern. It's classy. It's cool.

- Scenario & Occasions: Always. Ideally, LHI Cool is perfect for spring and summer, but you can wear it perfectly all year round, because it's really nice on cold days, too.

---------- A delicious fougere led by mint and almond.

Do you need a new & fresh winning horse..? Something classy , modern and cool..?

- Well, here it is.

It appears that no one is immune to the persuasive power of popular trends, even historic perfume houses like Guerlain. They held out, but then they sold out: Tardy to the party, they showed up fashionably late with all the excitement and impact of air leaking out of a tire. Yes, it’s the 2010’s most beloved discovery: Ambroxan. Why is this cheap, screechy smelling chemical now in every damned new release? Sauvage, I’m blaming Johnny Depp and your commercial success for now. Cool opens up in a promising Guerlain fashion- mint, almond, a bit of creamy neroli...all is well! The big A is present, but at this point it’s blended into the mix as is Guerlain’s forte.... but the problem here-and with all ambroxan-based fragrances- is that eventually, as the other notes fade, ambroxan does not. It remains as a fixative (and what a stubborn one it is!) ramping up its presence as it bullies the other notes out of the way. That’s exactly the problem with Guerlain Cool. After a few hours, all I can smell is that ubiquitous, harsh, chemical, low quality scent of ambroxan- at this point in the life of the fragrance, it doesn’t matter if you wear Sauvage, Dylan Blue, Luna Rossa Carbon, Bvlgari Atlantique, Office for Men, etc etc etc. ambroxan comes in no nuanced shades or subtle varieties. It all must come from the same Chinese discount chemist’s wholesale ambroxan charnel house. At least it smells like it does.
The sad thing is that this mediocre stuff has relegated a truly good fragrance (Ideal Cologne) to the dustbin. I can only pray perfume houses quickly find another shiny toy to play with. Until then, get your ambroxan fix here! Or there... or anywhere really. Like Morpheus says to Agent Smith “You’re all the same to me”

kanak

Mint is a tricky note and the top portion of L'Homme Ideal Cool is Mint overload with a dash of citrus. The mint is fresh but think toothpaste rather than Mint leaves. This fragrance then really comes into it's own about 15 minutes in when the almond and neroli notes kick in with an aquatic heart. This is the best part of the fragrance and I really like it. Makes it a fresh, clean, slightly sweet minty floral although the vetiver keeps it pretty much on the masculine side. Longevity is moderate, around the 5-6 hour mark and projection is decent, a good 2 hours before settling in.

Cool I find is a great office scent. It's clean, fresh smelling, well behaved and the Mint gives me a kick right after a shower first thing in the morning. Kinda perks you up for the work day. Also on a side note, test this on skin. On a paper smelling strip, it just smelled like a mint chutney, losing all the almond and neroli notes. Even though the note lists are very different, the closest frags it reminds me of in vibe are Prada L'Homme and the old version Invictus Aqua so if you like those two and are looking for a good daily driver for spring n summer, L'Homme Ideal Cool is a solid choice.

zareliman

Ok this is AMAZING. It's the first one I've tried from Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal line and I can say I get the hype and praise absolutely. It has that vetiver heart making it resemble classy scents like Cartier and Hermes, that almond "accord" is also noticeable, it reminds me of something else (that's why I wrote accord although I can't pinpoint where have I smelled something similar). The mint opening is suits this DNA perfectly, on the same vibe as Cartier's Roadster but sweeter and less sharp/green. It's usually not common to find a masculine sweet fragrance for the warmer months, but this one nails it in the classiest way. After this one I certainly feel comfortable blind buying L'homme Ideal flankers, that Almond Vetiver combo is worth it.

FreshTones

Got a decant of this from a gracious member of the community. I'm on my way to collecting everything from the line. Big fan. So, I think it safe to say cool bottle (no pun intended), good sprayers, yada yada.

As Rick mentioned this is nearly identical to Homme EDP in the opening. I will still purchase it when it hits discounters but since I have and use Homme EDP as my nearly every day scent for work, I'm not rushing out to buy it. Citrus, mint, somewhat "watery". Then the mid hits with white florals and almond. There's the Ideal note. Base is all ambroxan to my nose mixed with the top half of the pyramid but not the "stroll through the mall" type of ambrox overload. Just the right amount. It's good! I'm not one to advocate layering too often but go ahead and try it with the original.. It's amazing.

I think the Ideal line from Guerlain is fantastic. Every single release is good, even Sport. This is no exception. They should keep the EDP in production as well. I have enjoyed every single one.

I think this particular flanker is perfect for all ages, all situations. Signature scent worthy. It can work in every single season. As Guerlain does, it's sophisticated enough for a suit and modest enough for jeans. Can't go wrong here. I think the OG is still the best in the line but I expect nothing less than stellar quality from this line. Have yet to try L'Intense but I assume I will enjoy it. Performance is the only drawback to an otherwise stellar line but is to be expected with the relevant flankers. The OG, EDP and Cologne (surprisingly) perform very well for me. Sport and Cool are lagging a bit behind but not dramatically. I got about 6-7 hours out of Cool with a good hour or so of very nice sillage. For what it is, how could you be disappointed? Yet another fantastic release from Guerlain!

clintjr82

Smells ok, but the edt colgne is way better as a scent, more unique. Surprislingly no one said this was similar to prada luna rossa original. Cool is actually more Irish spring and almondny fresh, but very similar to Lunna Rossa. Its pungent toothpaste soap basically. Nothing to run to buy. Just by you a sample

Ricks44

Have wanted to pick up Guerlain Homme EDP for the last few months. Heard about this and waited. Tested in a duty free.

So I was instantly reminded of Homme EDP. Minty, green, fresh. After 30 mins, the original Ideal is there, cherry, almond whilst retaining the mint vibe. 2-3 hours in the ambroxan dry down is reminiscent of Dior Sauvage. Its an excellent fragrance quite unique. An odd combination of notes but it works very well. Its a head turner.

I bought it and wore it on my first day on a Paris trip, when I left my flat a French lady commented on the scent. No idea what she said apart from "parfum" but she smiled so I assume it was a compliment.

Projection, longevity is above average. Spring, summer, day, night.

8/10.

Best of the line.

Sighclone

I appreciate Cool immensely, having bought it in the waning days of summer, and only had the chance to give it two wearings. It reminds me a lot of L'Homme Ideal Cologne, which, sadly, it will be replacing. I see no reason why the two of them couldn't coexist in Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal lineup, but that is a marketing decision I was not consulted on.

The mint note is very welcome in addition to the almond. It makes for an even more summery fresh take on the L'homme Ideal scent. Fresher than Cologne, but I think Cologne is the superior fragrance which is why I am unhappy it is being replaced. My advice to all fans of Cologne: buy backup bottles now when they are still cheap. Do also buy Cool if you're a fan of the L'Homme Ideal line. You won't be disappointed.

thethe

Take away cherry (from the line) and add menthol. The result is a equal blend of almonds and menthol. It’s nice for warm weather and for someone who is over 30 years old.

For Cvaile:

No calone listed on my box. Maybe just me but I don't get any water scent out of this. I liked it at first but it's just too sickly sweet for me. I prefer the fresher juices.

cvaile

For anyone who has the box, is there calone in this one?

I react poorly to calone (or to whatever else might be used when "marine" is a listed note) - but I am okay when the water notes in a fragrance are made from the "ozonic" side of the chemical spectrum (or pre-Coolwater aquatic notes).

As a huge fan of the house and the line (not to mention both mint AND almond scents in general) I've got my fingers crossed for ozonic.

Update: Thanks Papparog, I appreciate your feedback. I got my bottle and it's a really nice summer version of LI. Of course we already had one of those in LI:Cologne, but I can appreciate that LIC might have been more for transitional weather than Guerlain had in mind for this slot in the collection, so they shot for a formula that would be wearable even in summer's high heat - and if that was their intent, job well done. Still don't understand why they can't carry both, but I have my backup bottle so that'll be my way of dealing with it :)

L'homme ideal Cool is, to date, the last flanker of the L'homme ideal line.
The freshest of all, as the name implies, is composed of 10 notes, among which the most important are mint, almonds, aquatic notes and vetiver.
Its longevity is quite good, going beyond 7 hours, and its sillage is intense so be careful with the over application.
I really like the mint and almond mixture in this perfume, it makes it very unique.
I like the bottle very much, with its refined lines and very simple, with a bluish gray color, and its cap is my favorite part of this line, because it is heavy and although you grab it from the cap, the bottle will never be released.
L'homme ideal cool was launched in 2019 and is an ideal L'homme flanker (2014)
The nose behind this perfume is Thierry Wasser.
The face in this perfume is model Aurélien Muller.

Fragrance -L’Homme Ideal Cool Guerlain
Bottle from - 2019

Ideal Cool opens on my skin with a calming, relaxing, green and minty citruses enchanted with some kind of fresh aquatic magic laying on top of a bit unusual aniseed-almond blend.
As the fragrance progresses, a bit bitter neroli makes its appearance.
The drydown is all about vetiver and ambroxan with a wisper of slightly citrusy almond lurking at the edges.
Ideal Cool has some similarities to Ideal Cologne, but he took a bit different approach.I would say a minty approach.

Longevity - 7/10(6-7 hours)
Silage/Projection - 7,5/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 1-2 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent's evolution)
Weather -best in spring and summer
Age - 18+
Compliments(low-medium-high) - medium to high
Scent - 8/10

Main notes according to me -
almond,mint,aquatic notes,vetiver,neroli.

The drydown is nice and I get some vetiver, ambroxan and almond.

Emotions -calming,relaxing,fresh.

The best version of the Guerlain's perfect man. Since the Guerlain Homme EDT was discontinued and replaced by his EDP strong old brother I felt abandoned by the brand, considering that EDT was my favorite cologne and my signature scent. For me, until now, all the l'homme Ideal line was very well produced but not very bold... Guerlain was obviously playing safe... Cool changed the game. It is a improvement from GH with a better fixation and projection, which were very poor in the 2008's cologne. Almonds are sealing the fixation and the mint is way fresher and stronger than the original masculine flagship offering a strong projection. It reached the impossible, a fresh, durable and remarkable scent. For me, who lives in Brazil, where there is a huge range of temperature, it works in every occasion. It is stronger enough for winter, fresher enough for summer. The black tuxedo that goes with everything. Congratulations Guerlain! Reinventing and improving yourself shows to everyone you are the best! I am proud of you!

I tried it today (the temperature around 24C). At the very beginning I see similarities to Very Valentino for Men. I guess it is because of anise. Although a bit "plastic" at this point it is somehow different. You can smell almonds and mint. But after an hour it becomes more and more similar to Dior Sauvage or Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. I have to test it again as no one here seems to notice these similarities. It is a good scent but looking at a green bottle and seeing mint I was hoping for a more cooling character of this fragrance. I am a bit dissapointed.

Ellej32

Don’t care if this is for men.. I covered myself in this at the airport got to be the best thing I’ve smelled all year! Unexpected favourite 10/10

pmg

Got it as an early Father’s Day gift from my family.
The usual L’Homme Ideal DNA with a really nice green cooling mint + soft acquatic notes in the opening. It’s nice and smooth, nothing harsh. Actually this is my fav. from the line, a refreshing wonder in the summer heat with the good old sweetened almond dry down. Longevity is OK on my skin, I’ve got cca. 6 hours. Projection could be better though. The upshot for me is something truly unique, my new signature scent.

Scent 8/10
Longevity 7/10
Projection 6/10

Top Notes: Bergamot, Orange, Mint, Anise.
Heart Notes: Neroli, Almond, Aquatic notes.
Base Notes: Patchouli, Vetiver, Ambrox

GeorgeY

pretty similar to the previous sport version with less citrus notes in the opening but an additional mint note (same sort of herbal mint Guerlain uses in Herba Fresca) to make the scent more aromatic. The dry down has more pronounced nutty vetiver while the sport version shows more of the vetiver's grapefruit facet

Cilenje

Prada Luna Rossa DNA in the first 15 minutes, then full-on Sauvage for hours on end.
Sharp, piercing Sauvage that won't come off your skin.

Scent 5/10
Longevity 8/10
Projection 9/10
Creativity 2/10

But then again, I suppose nobody expected creativity with a cool flanker!

Houdini4

Sorry not a fan.

My history with the Ideal line was bewilderment at the first one, despite understanding the older Guerlain's it was nodding to. Then elation at the later ones the edp and Parfum (I think they are called?) As they really doubled down on the coumarin/tonka oriental gourmand elements making fragrances that weren't just a sort of modern mess, but rather a clearly recognised vision....in my humble opinion of course.
However, there was another flanker in the line which took the acceptable face of Ideal and made it even more 'fresh' and mass appealing in the cologne version...cue alarm bells in my head. To my surprise this one really worked, the bitter, sharp grapefruit top combined with that milky almond base just worked incredibly well, finally I started to 'get' the line and enjoyed the others much more as a result.

So after that brief history of my thoughts on Guerlain Ideal comes Ideal Cool and frankly it's a step too far for me. I must say the coolness is certainly evoked in the smell, giving a superbly airy, cool effect. I think people who like this will really like it because it's undoubtedly created with Guerlain's usual carefully consideration. I just don't like the combination of almond, tonka bean and smooth woodiness with aquatic and minty notes. I get the balance, mint kinda works with vetiver and in turn with the rest of the composition you can pick out aspects that chime well in both contexts, neroli for example.

I just don't like it personally and I believe this is the replacement for Ideal Cologne which is little sad but I suppose things have to move on. I will have to try it again as nothing about my feeling on this line would surprise me, I might end up reverting my position, stranger things have happened. for now it's a No though.

hedward

Is it me or is it the colour scheme that's fooling me because there is a similar medicinal note here as there is in Gucci Guilty Cologne. Perhaps a new aromachemical?

a86d

After wearing this for a day or two, I absolutely love the initial opening and first stages of the scent. I don’t know how I feel about the dry down, or skin scent smell. I have to say it but once it has dried down enough to become a skin scent...it kinda reminds me of Brut...I may be wrong as I haven’t smelt brut in a very long time. In any case, this fragrance is a so-so from me. I much prefer the EDP and Intense versions of L’Homme Ideal. They’re both incredible.

lovetribe

Too much mint for my taste.

Sea2Summit

In my tests, Guerlain Ideal Cool shows its strengths in humid tropical weather (up to 32 C, so far in Cairns, Australia)

Even with physical activity (cycling) and some sweating, Ideal Cool remains clean and cool without being sharp or tart like citrus. So, yes it keeps its Cool, class and masculinity. It melds with the skin in a pleasant, refined way. There is nothing cliche or tourist-like, rather the knowing inhabitant of the tropics.

The real test for Ideal Cool is seeing how well it works when worn for a whole, long, hot day.

For the hottest (35 C), most humid (+80%) days, I will reach for Ideal Sport, which has a clean, fresh water character able to handle wet sweating - the challenge of tropical summers.

In both cases, Ideal Cool and Ideal Sport are best sprayed broadly over the skin before putting on clothes.

About IDEAL COLOGNE:
Mouthwatering grapefruit and SPICY pink pepper. Females have consistently exclaimed 'spicy' when smelling freshly sprayed Ideal Cologne. Ideal Cool doesn't make me want to eat grapefruit or get the 'spicy' response from females. Yep, have a backup bottle, done.

EDIT: Ideal Cool is a cooling mint that complements being active. In this way, it is like an oral mint refresher that also peps people up. If indeed it contains regular ambroxan (doubt), it does not seem harsh as in Dior Eau Sauvage. Perhaps, anise and almond create light smoothness. How would the fragrance of Ideal Cool suggest the wearer's skin to be? Mint, anise and almond gelato!

skjelseth

Shaving foam with a prominent almond note making it more unique. Nice enough. Would buy, but rather as a gift for my dad than for myself.

Buysblind

I've worn this for a week straight since buying it and believe I have a pretty firm grasp on it by now...

L'Homme Ideal Cool is a successful, refreshing take on the original EDT that does everything right and adds a worthy flanker to the line. Personally, it's my favorite in the entire group of L'Homme Ideal fragrances, but I'm also quite partial to mint, which is probably my favorite note in perfumery. At the same time, I'm critical of mint, and fragrances which use it poorly don't impress me, nor do I like them, so I think it's safe to say that the mint used in L'Homme Ideal Cool has been used well--otherwise I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I've been.

To begin, the darker, warmer and heavier elements of L'Homme Ideal have been toned down. While the pleasantly sweet, cherry-almond accord of the original is still very much present, it's as if the bass has been removed from it, and in turn what remains is something lighter, more airy, and much cooler. The original has significant portions of tonka and suede lending weight to the base and overall composition, but here they've been pretty much removed altogether. Ideal Cool sits well up in the air, floating around deftly with swift assurance. The original is more grounded, centered around the body and its immediate space. In place of the tonka and suede, there's a mild woody structure built around vetiver, with a slightly ozonic edge. It gives the fragrance a somewhat dry, unfettered impression which serves it well, providing a buoyant backbone for Cool's sweeter and more refreshing elements--mainly an airy, aromatic cherry-almond accord and a cool, natural spearmint which happens to straddle the perfect balance between sweet and herbal/natural. And it's mainly these two accords--the almond and mint--which comprise Cool's smell as you wear it (though you may pick up on some fragrant neroli as well). Because the cherry sweetness of the almond has been elevated, and its heavier supporting notes removed, it takes on a subtle, airy quality that diffuses well while remaining somewhat mercurial and never "too much." The mint serves as an excellent compliment in this scenario, adding its refreshing touch to the almond and taking the fragrance to an even higher, cooler frequency. It blends with the cherry aroma of the almond and gives it an icy chill, sweet but diffused and ethereal. This is the latest flanker's greatest success--keeping the original's almond accord in tact but modifying it for a fragrance with "cool" in the name, adjusting certain elements while bringing others in to create an altogether new fragrance which is clearly and firmly connected to the original. Simply put--it got rid of everything it needed to and added all the right stuff in order to create a successful and true flanker. ("Sport," for example, and on the other hand, veered too far off the path, leaving us with something ultimately removed from the original and nearly unidentifiable as part of the line).

Performance wise, Cool is just fine. 4 to 6 sprays should last you a solid 6 hours, in which it will steadily give off its pleasant, airy aroma to those within several feet or an "arm's length." It catches the air nicely and has undeniable presence without ever becoming too heavy or intrusive. Cool has been serving me well as both a casual and office/work fragrance, and while I've worn it a few times at night, it really seems to shine during the daylight hours. Spring is the PERFECT season for it, though I imagine it will continue to work in the summer and early fall as well. Although Cool is not widely available in the States yet, rumor has it that Epcot Center is already hawking bottles and it shouldn't be too much longer before it's arrived on a larger, more accessible scale. In my opinion, it's worth the retail price, however if you're looking to save money, sure enough, a year from now, it should probably be available at the usual discounters. Anyway, thumbs up for this one and kudos to Thierry Wasser for making a really nice flanker to a line that could use a little boosting. Final rating: 8.5/10, possible 9 if it holds up over time.

BlueLuna

Nice and fresh at first. You're not saying "WOW!" but also not bad. Green and sporty kind of a fragrance after all... But hey, what's that? Just a few hours later, when it dries down; Is it just me or it's nearly identical with the classic version of L'homme Ideal? Where did the freshness go? I love Guerlain, one of my favourite perfume houses after all. But this kind of a fragrance was not necessary I think... I'll be missing the Cologne version so much though!

andrewatic

Very pleasant, with overall herbal impression to my nose, and a classic or even “retro” vibe to it.
I think, after all, not a very necessary addition to the line. The discontinued Cologne version was a much better option for Guerlain’s “fresh department”.

TrephineArtist

Tried this yesterday and it's actually very nice, I'm going to try to bag a sample and give it a few wearings to give a proper verdict. It seems a nice cool minty and aromatic take on the Idéal Cologne. First impression is that's it'll be better suited to mild Spring or Autumn days or perhaps 'cool'summer days rather than high heat.

groover

Tried this and a few other new
releases today, guerlain cool
was the one that stood out, i
just love the minty almond mix,
to me it smells quite similar to
the original and the cologne but
with added mint notes, the mint is
not very prominant but its there,
i love the others flankers and this
one is also a must buy for me.

FreshFan

Love this new one from the Ideal line. This seems like a mix of the EDT, the Sport, and the original Homme (and at the same time being far removed from all three of them), working very well. Competing for best of the line with Ideal Cologne for me. After buying it last week, I immediately enjoyed it every day, easy to like, but far from being an ‘easy fragrance’. Great work again from Thierry Wasser!

Hadley

Kindly got given a sample card of this before they got the tester in since I asked about it. I wasn’t expecting much considering my dislike of other mint fragrances but I’ve gotta say this stuff smells amazing. It’s a very smooth mint that combines very well with that signature L’homme Ideal almond DNA. To my nose it reminds me somewhat of Prada Luna Rossa Sport but more classy, refined and definitely better.

What has also surprised me is that from 2-3 sprays of the small tester I could smell this projecting off my hand nicely for 4-5 hours. I’ll definitely be picking up a 100ml of this when it’s in store.

victor.ali

Do you guys remember the Guerlain Homme fresh mint, bergamot, mojito, very manly opening ?
Take that minty power for the opening then this will develop into L'homme ideal Sport .. HOWEVER !!! .. I feel something smokey in the background.
[vetiver + patchuli + ambroxan] almost like a small drop of Versace Dylan

ATTENTION -- THIS FEELS NICHE / NOT FOR KIDS
Ladies seem to get excited about this one

yann33

ok , i smell this today. it's simple, take the cologne version with addition of smooth mint.however it's very nice!!!
Update
More i Wear it , more i looooove it . Guerlain is vert nice ans créative house. Girls love this type of fragrances

FragMaster

How can people think this will be similar to Sauvage? I think what Chazas said will be most accurate - Similar vibe to Kryptomint but without straying to gourmand territory. Hopefully the almond will provide a sweet bitterness to balance out the citrus and make this a summer king.

Forever Neil

yep LJscot, got rid of my AHS because of the tonka. It smells great, but tonka gives me a massive headache.

LJScot

I’m hoping for Allure Homme Sport with almond instead of Tonka for the creaminess

ozlemmenguloglu

I think it will be similar to sauvage:)

victor.ali

Official base notes : Patchouli, Vetiver, Ambroxan
Top notes : Bergamot, Orange, Aniseed, Mint

Could please add ambroxan and aniseed to the notes as this is the official ingredients list.

The green color looks captivating. Hope it smells great!
