La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain is a Amber Vanilla fragrance for women. La Petite Robe Noire was launched in 2012. The nose behind this fragrance is Thierry Wasser. Top notes are Sour Cherry, Almond, Red Berries and Bergamot; middle notes are Licorice, Rose, Tea and Taif Rose; base notes are Vanilla, Anise, Tonka Bean, Patchouli and Iris.

The house of Guerlain launched an exclusive and limited edition La Petite Robe Noire in February 2009. In February 2011, it also presented the second limited edition of the line—La Petite Robe Noire 2. In early 2012, Guerlain decides to relaunch the debut and to offer the fragrance to a broad market. The new La Petite Robe Noire is modified, developed by the in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser.

Inspired by the elegance and eternity of a little black dress, the perfume exudes Parisian chic and gracefulness. It opens with playful and sparkling aromas of black cherry, bergamot, red berries and almond. Bulgarian and Turkish roses rule the heart, further developing with notes of licorice and smoked black tea. Aniseed, tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli form the base.

The bottles of La Petite Robe Noire collection are replicas of the classical vials of the house, such as L'Heure Bleue. The dress print has been altered so that each of the past three bottles shows a different shape of this clothing. The animated ad campaign was created by French artists Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas.

The new La Petite Robe Noire is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

This one isnt for me unfortunately. The scent is a little too mature for my nose - but I can absolutely appreciate that it's a beautifully made scent.
The liquorice/Anise & smoked tea adds interest and complexity and sits nicely with the soft and cramy base but I don't think it suits me at this time in my life.

I think I might actually enjoy this scent on my husband due to the liquorice notes (but it is on the sweeter side which probabbly stops it from being entirey unisex).

MyersAlice

I love the cherry bomb in the beginning, really yummy and pretty.
After some time the licorice and almond comes forward but in a subtle and nice way.
It's got a "darkness" to it that I really enjoy.
I was looking for a Lolita Lempicka dupe, but this one has NO similarity AT ALL to it in my opinion, sadly.
But I do enjoy the perfume anyways, so it's fine.

ParfumTea

I blind bought based on my favourite youtube reviewer. I wanted a sexy scent that equals my usual Chanel No. 5. This did not disappoint!

Upon opening the cellophane wrapping, I could smell it, tore open the box and the scent burst out and I anticipated it like a groom-to-be is anxious for his wedding night. I let the fragrance linger & simply enjoyed the aroma before I opened the bottle and got my first taste.

I applied only 1 spray and was wrapped immediately in a seductive nightie, red roses on the bedside alongside a bowl of fresh cherries, an iced glass of cool sweet earl Grey tea. Leonard Cohen notes fill the room and my Man, fresh from a shower, clicks off the lights, bathing us in moonlight.

OK ok, if a parfum creates a fantasy, it's definitely great. Thank you Guerlain, I'll be having many sleepless but erotic nights ode to you.

The Scentimentalist

Smells very much like Donna Karan Liquid Cashmere Black and DK is a tad better because the notes seem to be clearer and more alive than LPRN. Not the greatest Guerlain but it's not bad.

Nataliemespino

So SEXY & SWEET. It’s such a beautiful cherry fragrance that doesn’t smell medicinal or bitter at all. It’s extremely feminine, sweet, and a little bit tart and spicy - perfectly balanced. It slowly dries down a little more vanillic with a hint of the patchouli, but I was still able to detect the gorgeous cherry and almond. This would be great on a date night or special occasion. It’s strong and the longevity is fantastic.

emes369

One of my favourites from Guerlain. If it's possible for a fragrance to be sweet, fruity, flirty, seductive & profound than this is it. I always feel great when I wear it.

Nadia1401

This smells like if you took out the lavender from Mon Guerlain and replaced it with cherries. They’re so similar, I was not expecting that. The sillage I get from LPRN is nearly identical to MG.

I think I prefer MG. The cherry note in LPRN cheapens it; reminds me of a public restroom air freshener.

ettenig sayam

Oh, I think this 30ml size of LPRN that I just received is perfect. It's a perfect size to stash in your bag for a discreet refresh. It's sweet but in a refined way. It looks and smells classy with an impish grin. I love the little black dress painted on the bottle. I think a woman of any age could wear this. I suppose if a guy liked the notes, he could pull it off too. Someone described the cherry notes as maraschino cherries. Yes, I think that's right. It smells like distilled syrup. It's not heavy and cloying. Others compare this fragrance to Lempicka. I see the resemblance. But LPRN is a much more refined version. I actually like Lempicka very much. But Lempicka is a daytime perhaps casual and boisterous fragrance, while LPRN seems more chic - something to wear to the theater and then on to a late night supper or an evening event at the art gallery or museum. This is so well-blended like Mon Guerlain. But I think I prefer LPRN. I have heard LPRN is more popular in Paris than Mon Guerlain and it's the opposite in the states. Actually, LPRN may be a more mild version of Shalmar or even Mitsouko. This is contemporary chypre. Anyway, this is a love at first sniff.

Love it..

Msala140

Beautiful fragrance , very sultry . I get a sweet cherry with the hit of licorice that almost has a small leather vibe in there but no leather or suede are listed . It’s like a maraschino cherry blended with the licorice. I could see wearing this on a date night , or cooler weather . It’s pretty long lasti on my skin

bouchardo

Baby all gone Kenner doll cherries chypre

smccmurphy

I definitely agree that it smells very similar to Lolita lempicka- almost a mix of the original and sweet, as I find the cherry a bit more present here and the licorice a bit more toned down. I’ll have to compare them all to see which I prefer to get a full bottle of. Gives me a Halloween, fairy witchy vibe.

peacedeli

My first spritz was a little nauseating. Quite strong of a fragrance with a little bit of an afterstink, maybe because of the licorice + almond (I'm not a fan of almond notes generally so PSA if you are). Reminds me of Lancome's fragrances--warm floral gourmands that are accessible without being too boring, but also nothing mind-blowing. I'll need to test this more to see if I can stomach it. 4/10 for now.

review on the 2015 version

unmistakable Guerlain! I think people disliking it are simply unfamiliar with the Guerlain's signature style. but I personally quite enjoy it.

the cherry here is a sweet liqueur cherry used in pastry. I think its so much more original than lost cherry and other similar frags..

I like that it has sort of sharpness underneath, like a bit of almond bitterness. its also a little powdery, you know how expensive makeup powders always have that subtle smell about them, one of those. as for licorice and anise notes, thank god both of them are blended seamlessly and I couldn't smell them at all.

perfect for holidays, big parties, loud celebrations. Bravo mr. Wasser!

vildeska

It’s not too sweet to me, but I find it somewhat harsh and sharp, especially in the opening. Might be the liquorice note?

nonelle

I wanted so hard to like this, but something just doesn't feel right. For me, this is too sweet and smells like maraschino cherry liqueur. I usually love almond, tea, iris and tonka bean in fragrances, but apparently I don't like them all in the same perfume.

Night of April

The mixture amongst rose, anis and iris it is a little bit too much for me. However, I find it original, classy and fun! It is just not for me, does not fit my identity but I like how it smells. It is complex and girly, maybe a little bit quirky too but not in a vulgar way, just the right amount to be considered lively.

TexasOrangeBlossom

I don’t find this very sweet. I expected it to be sweeter based on the main accords list. I like it very much in cool weather. Not as much when it’s hot outside.

ariej2010

I love "Black Cherry Merlot" from Bath and Body works but could not find a similar cologne or perfume. I got samples of Lost Cherry and hated it (Sorry) also got Amarena Cherry and also hated it (The smell got me sick) , I gave all of it to a Friend that was enamored with it, lucky she!. But La Petite Robe Noire does not make me sick, in fact it reminds me of a long closed store, a Wedding Gown store called "El Imperio" where My sister got her wedding dress. The place was so beautiful and romantic and full of dreams and hopes. Everybody was elegant wearing their best for the occasion, and the place was full of all the delicious scents that everybody was wearing. It is powdery and has a subtle cherry smell. It is timeless and can be wore by the bride, the mother, the sister and the grandmother! Such a beautiful scent.

Goldena35

This is a perfume I have had for quite awhile. It was just released when my mom picked me up a bottle in Paris. I don’t reach for it often. It is nice and well done and I do like it. This is very powdery to my nose. A powdery cherry rose. I was surprised to see vanilla listed so high because it’s nowhere to be found for me. I also get the tea and anise varying on where in the drydown we are. In my experience this performs and smells very different in hot vs cold weather. It seems sweeter and juicier in warmer weather and more tight and powdery in the cold. I also get almond but would like more.

fragrantO

it might smell like fake cherries but it lasts FOREVER. great if u feel stinky because this stays literally eternally on skin and clothes its insane

[email protected]

This just a stinky, cheap-smelling, synthetic, muddled mess with a bit of cherry hovering beneath the surface. It does not project, luckily for me. Looks like it works for other people. Not a safe blind buy though, so beware. There are certainly samples out there, so try before you buy.

soscandal

i dont love it but i like it. you can feel the bergamot more than cherry. it may be for a little old age. when im 35 i want to use this but not now since im 18. its like spicy sweet

@laniemay

I really like this perfume. I bought it blind cos of the cherry note I was hooked on Lost Cherry but couldn't afford it at the time so I bought this and I wasn't disappointed this perfume has a lovely scent and I must find a reason to reach for it more often cos I don't wear it hardly at all.

bijou_

so interesting to see mixed reviews on this fragrance !! this was a great blind buy from me and even better then i thought it would be based on the notes ✦.*
the cherry note is absolutely divine and reminds of glacé cherries ゚+。:.゚((⌯'ᵕ'⌯))゚.:。+゚
almond frags are really hit or miss for me because i hate that play doughy smell some give off but imo it's very pretty here !!

to me this is definitely a very youthful frag but it's definitely got a darker vibe to it then other similar perfumes. overall this frag really reminds me of a cherry bakewell but with this sexy and almost peppery(?) undertone

lika_jakobia

I have it for more than 2 years and time after time try again on me but it is always the same as from the moment I got it I hate it.. This is the one and only perfume from Guerlain as I totally love most of them.
I am showing the scent to my friends saying if you like will give it to you, so everyone say big meh... not knowing it's LPRN Guerlain..

I blind bought it and it's a big mistake. I can't bare the scant. Why Guerlain Why? :(

Tiffalub

When I first put on this scent years ago as a sephora sample, I hated it. The scent was so strong and smelled like "old lady" to me. After an hour or so when I got the dry down, I smelled something intoxicating... turns out it was me. This smell is so addicting. I feel like a sexy, sophisticated and confident when I wear it. I don't believe it's for most people because the cherry and licorice can come across a little medicinal and the powderiness can come across mature. But for me, the combination of notes is so warm and sexy and powerful. This was the first perfume I bought a full bottle of. I love it!!!!

Lem0nTea

In the early days of my neverending quest for a signature scent, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with this one as soon as I smelled a medicinal, syrupy cherry. I asked for a sample and got it, but before long I went back and bought the full bottle.

Big mistake.

The composition sounds lovely in theory, and I'm sure it would be if I could tell the notes apart. As it was, it became an instantly headache-inducing cloying cloud of screechy, synthetic cherry, perhaps by way of the liquorice. I'm not sure why I could not detect this before paying for the whole thing. Do not blind buy!

WhiteFlowerPrincess

I personally found this scent quite cloying and slightly overpowering and it made me sneeze and have a headache. I'm really not into gourmand fragrances at all and i don't like scents that are spicy and/or super sweet... La Petite Robe Noire is both of those things...

The marizpan-like cherry and almond blast in the opening notes smelt too much like food to me and not like a fragrance a grown woman would wear and I found it far too sweet, childish and abrasive. I didn't like this fragrance from the get-go.

The heart notes are then almost completely overpowered by that strange and bitter-sweet smell that only licorice has and also a bitter tea note. I hardly smell any rose and it seems like more of an afterthought, to be honest. It makes me think of the drink arak from both Jordan and Lebanon.

The base notes are then almost completely overshadowed by the strong, harsh and spicy smell of anise and I hardly get any of the vanilla that could have made this scent smell so much better. I also get too much of a sweet and almondy smell from the tonka bean and it is just not my favorite. I again don't smell any of the other notes during the drydown as well.

I'd say this fragrance leans feminine but could also be worn by a man and I think that it should be worn during either the fall or the winter at night, since its notes give me those sort of dark and somber associations. Sillage was moderate but bordered on strong and this fragrance lasted 8 and a half hours on me.

All in all, I'd give la Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain a very poor 3/10.

figgypudding

My signature scent for a while after a coworker shared what she was wearing! It makes me feel feminine and strong. I love how the licorice and tea balance the sweetness of the cherry and almond.

I knew I liked cherry after smelling TF Lost Cherry, this has the same almond-cherry accord. But La Petit Robe Noir amps it up into a distinctive and elegant scent, rather than a simple and too candy scent. This is officially the first full bottle I've repurchased.

ingenpen

A powerful, yet delicate woman. This stuff is just amazing! I feel adventurous when I'm wearing this and I never feel like that haha. The cherry, the almond and other ingredients are beautifully blended and work together perfectly in creating this mouth-watering and special scent. This is the Guerlain that I love!

meganlamode

I had a feeling this would be a hit or miss scent for me, but I'm in the process of sampling various cherry fragrances, so I wanted to at least try it out. La Petite Robe Noire is unfortunately a miss for me. I can be sensitive to patchouli, and it's the only note I smell for a while after first spraying. After giving it a chance to dry down, I do get some cherry and a little bit of licorice, but patchouli still dominates. I'm sad this fragrance didn't work out for me.

Gabsp28

Had this on yesterday. First spray was sweet, the almond really came through for me. After it settled on my skin, the liquorice came through with the anise. This is a beautiful scent. Nothing like the many perfumes I have. Lasted a decent amount of hours. I got a whiff of it throughout the night.

ANNAFRYS

Scent of new Porsche 718 Spyder RS to me.

Drive Porsche, put leather jacket; black leggings, sexy top.

Scent of power, money and speed.

Featherblossom

I love the black cherry note in this! It's nicely blended and I don't find the liquorice to be too much. I think it's perfect for late summer/early autumn.

The tea scent also stops it from being too sweet and adds depth!

However, I already have two flankers of this, in full sized bottles. The LPRN dna is as such that if you have one flanker, you don't really need any more. It's just a matter of picking your favourite!

Strawberrykitty

This reminds me of a cherry slurpee from 7/11, but also of lightly sweetened black tea. I don’t like a lot of honey in my tea, and often drink it without any sweetener, so this is a familiar tea scent to me. I definitely pick up on the licorice and rose, but they don’t overwhelm. They just keep this from smelling overly sweet. This isn’t as sugary sweet as some other scents out there, and is less sweet than the 2016 Intense flanker. I think this would make a good first fragrance gift for a young girl or woman. I can also see an older woman (I’m 22 so a lot of women are older than me) wearing this and it not being out of place, as anyone can wear anything that they enjoy.

Silvi_pankova

Reminds me of the Bon bon Malizia toilette waters I used in my childhood. It’s performed badly for me, if I don’t bathe in it, it will be gone in 10 minutes. Leaves a cheap sugary scent before completely disappearing in an hour.
Not my cup of tea…

kittenpawz

I almost blind bought this, glad I didn't. I'm not sure what to say other than that this is very disappointing and gave me a headache for some reason. My lived experience doesn't trigger any associations with medicine but I see how it could seem medicinal to others. To me this is very simplistic, both the opening and the dry down. I don't find it very sweet or tasty-gourmand but if cherries off a supermarket cake count as gourmand then it is too. I decided to test before buying because I can't stand patchouli but LPRN has other things you should worry about. If you're looking for a sophisticated opulent flirty dark feminine high quality Guerlain fragrance, keep looking (or at least sample first.)
I just want to wash it off.

muzzbait

Second go-around, and it still isn’t working for me.

There is a clear ‘dark’ element to it, as in it feels like a concoction or some kind of witch’s brew, but overall it is a little tame, for mine.

There is that rosey-floral element, and parts that kinda remind me of Serge Noire, with elements of cinnamon and cloves, as well as gourmand elements, but by and large, it does not appeal.

I wish the gourmand elements were more pronounced, and possibly more of a herbal element, with a different kind of sweetness…

Lovescents3

I enjoy cherry notes generally. This is a pretty fragrance. It is sweet and noticeable for some hours on the skin. It is girlie without being immature. I mostly get the sour cherry. The anise or licorice is noticeable to me initially after spraying but then mostly recedes.

It’s a warm and sweet syrupy cherry concoction with some gentle spices.

This is distinctive and a little quirky maybe. Does give young Parisian chic vibes, but more a girl on a sunny day wearing a striped top with white linen pants eating a pastry with a cherry glaze... accompanied by a small black terrier dog on a lead... Not so much the little black dress for me... maybe if the dress was worn in the daytime with a red belt and beret perhaps. It's a cute little black dress. A casual little black dress...

So yes, a versatile (in keeping with the little black dress idea) enjoyable and feminine fragrance for sure. I’m glad I have it in my collection.

sweetjess

Unsure on this one, I love cherry but finding the liquorice/powder smell overpoweringly strong. Not quite for me.

Arida

I'm here with the frag in subtropics in the summer now, it is full of anise's freshness, still girly, and very sweet❤️recomend for those who in love with crazy sweet oriental aromas. A little bit peppery, good for an evening too.
I've got a small bottle, only for that cool 30ml bottle. Just wow))

leoselle

huge pass a big meh

cyclone1391

Once you get past the opening and mid, this fragrance is gorgeous and long lasting. The opening is just a bit much for me, then the mid has a prominent licorice that I don't care for, then the dry down smells incredibly similar to LPRN Eau Fraiche, but stronger and a smidge more sweet. I probably won't get a bottle since I already have Eau Fraiche (my fav scent) but if you liked Eau Fraiche but want more "oomph" this is for you.

Tifffyy

I do think this is similar to Lolita Lempika, but to my nose doing a side by side comparison LL is heavier. LL is musky and the anise is much more prominent, I think the licorice note in LPRN is sweeter. They are both powdery, but LL is a heavy powder compared to a much lighter more delicate powder in LPRN. To me they could be sisters with totally different personalities. LL being the older edgier sister, dark and brooding, with a very loud personality, where LPRN is the brighter, happier, sweet younger sister with a very even temperament.
I love them both (LL was my very first perfume blind buy years ago, and the first perfume I ever ordered online!) I truly think I might like LPRN just a little more. It is an easier reach for me. I sprayed one on each of my arms and LL is definitely more dominant, as I’m sitting here typing this, it is all I can smell! My bottle is a few years old, so I don’t know if it has gotten stronger or if it has always been loud.

I haven’t given LPRN a full wear yet just a test on my arm, so I don’t know about silage or longevity yet, but the smell is wonderful. I don’t get cough syrup or any medicinal scent at all. On first spray, I smell sweet cherries mixed with red berries and a little bit of citrus that brightens it. The licorice comes out to play after about 10 or so minutes with the roses and I can detect a little dusting of powder. I think it is a very feminine fragrance that can be worn on any occasion or in any season.

stylishchickenbone28

Today I decided to wear this side-by-side with Black Perfecto (EdP) just to see what the differences really are. As I often wore them separately, the differences weren't super obvious... until today. This is far brighter, and much more intriguing than the gothic flanker. Much more wearable, and not at all a dupe of Lolita Lempicka. It's also interesting to see it compared to L'Homme Ideal EdP. I can see why this was done, but they aren't exactly very similar. This is a case of a fragrance having a similar vibe, but going in a different direction. However, if you like LPRN, you'll likely enjoy L'Homme Ideal. Not exactly vice versa, however. LPRN is much stronger and has a medicinal tone to it.

This fragrance really starts to sing after about 20 or so minutes, with the bergamot and tea becoming much more pronounced. This occurs, I assume, due to the intensity of the other notes drowning them out. The first 20 minutes is where it's at its most medicinal. Once that fades, it turns into this extremely sweet spicy fragrance with a nice and warm base built from vanilla, tonka, patchouli and almond. It's a pretty unusual experience but once you get used to it, it's not altogether outside of the Guerlain sphere. Now that its been out for almost a decade, it doesn't feel fresh anymore and when it came out it didn't really either, but it was sort of unique. I guess it still is. This is a popular fragrance, but you rarely smell it on others. Here in Australia, it's actually sort of a hidden secret.

Maleficent's cotton candy

This smells like luxury sour cherry sweet tarts. You can detect an essence of sweetness but it’s heavier on the sour cherry. This stays on my clothes forever. To me, this is a perfect date-night fragrance that is neither too young or too mature. It doesn’t smell common. It isn’t too heavy or too light. Love, for sure.

Amira khaled

To me this smells a lot like bath and body works dark kiss

Amber Plokchouli

@Tony Shades: the powdery notes are actually listed. The most common notes that make a fragrance powdery are Iris (often listed as Orris root, as it is the root that is used for natural Iris), and violet. Perfumes with lots of purple flowers are almost always powdery. Another note that is often powdery is rose. There are two types of Roses in this fragrance, so it’s unsurprising that this fragrance is powdery especially in combination with the Iris.
Rose isn’t always powdery though, when it’s not people often refer to it as a jammy rose.
Musk is another note that can be powdery, if you see musk and rose listed together in a fragrance, the fragrance is likely to be at least somewhat powdery, although it could also lean more soapy or creamy. Violet and Iris are the true dead giveaways for a powdery fragrance.

Obviously there are other notes that can make a fragrance powdery, but these are the most common ones by my (limited knowledge). Hope this helps 😊

I recently tested MPRN and didn’t pick it up as overly powdery though.. perhaps I’ve been smelling too many vintage fragrances and have become somewhat insensitive to it.. it felt classy and elegant, but I wasn’t overwhelmed and it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Reading these reviews I want to try again, cause I do love my guerlains..

MytamBuna

I bought this because of the notes listed and because I enjoy Lolita LEMPICKA. Sadly, the top notes smelled too much like bug spray to me. I think it’s probably a beautiful fragrance for some, but just doesn’t work with my body chemistry. Returning my bottle…💔

Jade-Ange D

I used to love LPRN so so much, but now I can't really wear perfumes with licorice notes because they make my head hurt so badly and I kinda hate each forms of licorice sooo... Appart from this off-putting note, the fragrance is nicely blended. The cherry feels ultra sugary but in a marvelous way, as if the perfumers squeezed the natural sugar out of the fruit. Then I smell the florals and I get that beautiful French cottage garden filled with pink and white roses vibe. It smells elegant and raffined, even if it lasts forever and is a strong kinda fragrance. I wore it as a teenager so now I can't really wear it because of the memories and the licorice.. It reminds me of Lolita Lempicka but in a more elevated and luxurious way.
Should be rated 7,5/10

asiarakk

I thought I like it, bought it so quickly. After about 5 days it’s so heavy and very powdery! Hate it. Will sell it for sure. It’s still pretty and feminine. Evening scent. Winter/cold season.
But powdery note makes me nauseous. Not so seeet in my opinion. Licorice note is ok.

Tony Shades

This fragrance is missing an important note or accord mentioned in the description, which is "powdery". Those who don't like such notes should be aware of this little detail.

KladfvbungMicshk

This is a scent that’s pretty horrifically like cherry cough syrup at first, but the dry down is beautiful and worth it! Does not smell cheap when it dries down & the cough syrup part doesn’t last too long. I get wafts of the dry down in the wind and it has a clean scent like laundry on a hot day. I thought it might not work in the heat but it does. Note— thats only when it dries down though, several minutes after spray. The first several minutes are very cloying.
It is also most definitely in the sweet category.
It does remind me a lot of Lolita Lempicka, it’s almost like a dupe (or vice versa). What’s missing is the violets, and I’d be interested in layering this with Insolence (which smells like violet candy). It does have a lot more cherry though.

Note: don’t blind buy this as it can be cloying to some.

SakuraFalls

Woooh. Ok. Good news- I can smell ever note listed! That is unusual for me, maybe my sniffer is becoming more refined.
Having said that.
I knew I didn't have a good chance at liking this.
I am a huge fan of cherry and almond as flavors combined in winter desserts and I am always searching for more beverages. It isn't unheard of for me to throw almond extract into cherry soda.
So, as far as almonds go. Not a huge fan of the smell, nor eating them. Maybe I am an enigma. I don't like how they taste as a nut, or how they are as a milk, and I have not liked almond fragrances.
My best friend does. She enjoys the taste AND the smells of body lotions and stuff that have it.

For me this is cherry up top- it hits hard and acidic and becomes cherry cough syrup before clouding over with almond sparkles.
As you get shrouded in this all the middle notes dance around, it is quite intricate and beautiful.
It was exciting for me to smell all! Base notes touch down so well after a little cherry bombing some more.
You are getting pummeled with sower cherries and drinking cough syrup as you put on that almond hand cream. The party doesn't let up- all the middle notes continue to dance as you decide if you like the syrup or not.
There is no going back now- you are covered in cherry juice but lucky for you- you also snagged DayQuil to down and it really is noticeable as you carry around a basket of strange fruit to get well soon.
I can't say I will ever like it, but the performance is soooooo amazing.

I have trouble with La Petite Robe Noire. But first, the longevity of this on my skin is top-notch -- we're talking about twelve hours of perceptible, identifiable character. Projection is pretty close throughout, but this is a proper perfume in terms of staying power.

However, this also means that each phase of its development is quite long, and it's the opening phase that I dislike. It's austere, a little bitter, dry, medicinal, and borderline over-bearing. I blame the cherry, licorice, peppery citrus, and possibly a tannic black tea note that starts peeking through. When this fragrance softens around the edges and becomes cozier, almondy, and rosy around hour 2 or 3, I like it much more, but life is short and that's a long wait for its prim, untouchable, over-seriousness to disappear.

I get the comparisons to Lolita Lempicka EDP, but LPRN never has the sense of humor or the fluffy skirts of LL. The things I like about LPRN resemble LL (a prominent cherry note, femininity), but I mostly like LL for it's greenness, its super-soft patchouli, and its cherry/violet powderiness, none of which is in LPRN. I only bring this up because so many have made the comparison. Lolita Lempicka is the reigning cherry in my collection, and I think I might just buy a vintage back-up bottle instead of a full bottle of LPRN.

Dawnya7b

Does anyone else smell sour cherry candies.

Edit:Nothing sweet here. Hard to wear. Will be decluttering

TexasOrangeBlossom

I always thought this was a youthful fragrance so I passed it up so many times despite being drawn to the bottle. Never gave it a proper test; only gave it a passing sniff from the bottle. No perfume should be dismissed from the atomizer. Really, that isn't fair.
Ok, LPRN....what do I think now? It's a dry, powdery fruitchouli that I don't see as being mass appealing, especially in the US. It's pretty, but probably something middle aged and older American women, like myself, would like while younger American women would think better suited for their mom. I smell all of the notes listed except rose. I really don't get much rose at all. For me, the anise and licorice aren't unpleasant and definitely present. If you don't like that type of scent, you probably wouldn't like this.
Has the whole line been discontinued? I'm getting the feeling it has or at the very least the bottle design is being changed. Guerlain loves to do that.

Elfin Will

This is one of the perfumes not to be blind bought before testing it. When I read about its olfactory notes which I usually really like, I ran to the store to test it, and there: disappointment. I just didn't like this perfume, I don't know why. Probably the licorice, the tea or the iris. Because the other notes... I love them in perfumes normally!

5/10

siynaloa

10 yers ago my father gift me this perfume it was my first luxury perfume, 10 yers later still my favourite one
Juste gorgeous the kind of perfume you notice, you remember. It timeless, sexy, mysterious, femme fatale smell
What elase ?

Marmacita

I was hesitant due to reviews, but I went for it, and it’s beautiful. I first tried it three days ago. I have an extensive fragrance wardrobe and I’ve worn it every day since opening it. That’s saying something. It starts out with a lovely cherry and a hint of anise. It really morphs on the skin. A couple hours into it, I’m smelling the almonds, a touch of rose, and tea. The dry down turns quite powdery with the cherry and almond still present. It feels like the female version of Guerlain L’Homme Ideal EDP. Projection, silage and longevity are all moderate. I’m excited to see how a few weeks of maceration affects this fragrance. I love it 🥰.

Annemarie

When this came out I couldn't deal with the sweet and gourmand facets, and basically ignored it. Now that I've found an-almost full 50 ml bottle in a thrift shop, it's interesting to re-assess LPRN since all the fuss has died down.

Reading through the often dismissive reviews on the major blogs back in the early 2010s, I see it was compared unfavourably to Lolita Lempicka. Or that the 'little black dress' concept belonged to Chanel, so what was Guerlain thinking? Or that Avon already had a fragrance called 'The little black dress' (now d/c) so again, what was Guerlain thinking?

Of course what Guerlain was thinking was to make as much money as possible, and there followed a bewildering parade of flankers, variants and LEs (backed up by a bunch of adorably animated video ads using Nancy Sinatra's 'Boots' as the soundtrack). There was a LPRN for every time and occasion, one your hair, for your lingerie, and they might have done a version for your dog had not they decided at last to turn to Mon Guerlain as the next cash cow.

Having smelled a lot of perfume in the last decade and shed some of my own snooty views (I hope), and now that most of the flankers are gone, I can at last appreciate this, the 2012 EDP. The opening is joyful, and although the cherry berry sweetness still bothers me a little, I can smell through it to the many other notes and accords. I get most of them including a teasing little plastic accord somewhere in there, and superb patchouli at the end.

This is a sophisticated, multi-faceted fragrance which unfolds slowly and leaves a fantastic trail. There is much that is interesting to smell, even if I don't love it all. This not a cheap or cynical effort, this is Guerlain maintaining its tradition of classical perfumery. I find that obvious now that I've smelled so much mediocrity in the last 10 years.

Finally - this stuff is powerful. A couple of sprays last all day on me and I don't have to hunt for it on my skin after an hour. Walking through a mist of this is heavenly.

AleshaA

This is such a delicious scent all my favourite notes just so special
is similar to poison girl edp but I actually prefer this one more I won’t reach for it all the time but during the colder months
this smells sophisticated and elegant I can imagine wearing this to s dinner party with a beautiful maroon dress so happy I bought this blind buy

0phelia

Medicinal, like concentrated cough syrup. It's not really sweet but there is a hint of licorice sweetness that also makes it smell artificial/plasticky (Maybe I'm not used to the licorice note). Overall, not a fan.

Mila97

I had this perfume for about a year or so and I loved it at first. It was fresh yet sweet and nobody else I know was wearing it at the time. However, over time I got a bit sick of it. It smelled sour and harsh to me, a bit like artificially flavoured cherry candy.
Nice for a while, but not for too long.

lissieh

I got a sample of this and oh my god. For some reason, this makes me nostalgic and makes me think of christmas during my childhood but i can't put my finger on the note that is doing it, perhaps the anise? i also get some incensey notes at the beginning together with the sweetness. Not getting much rose which is a plus for me since it's not my fave, i'd say it's more fruity than floral in general. It's truly a sweet one but not in a bad way, it's totally wearable. It's perfect for a cold winter day or night! I personally don't think it deserves the bad reviews at all

pocketfullofposies

A really beautiful grown up fruity floral. I don’t get why this has so many negative reviews but I find it a lovely take on the fruity floral genre of scents without being too overpowering, sickly or childlike.

EmilyinJapan

Smells like a lush store. The top note smells really similar to honey I washed the kids. Really funny as this perfume does not use honey.
And the middle note smells a bit like La nuit tresor which I also commented on senorita misteriosa.
It’s incredible that I find similarities on both perfumes.

Mona708

I barely got any licorice; if anything, it reminds me Lost Cherry without the pastry crust accord. This is great casual scent for cooler weather. It’s sweet but not sickening. I would recommend this if you liked Black Perfecto or Punk Cherry, but don’t want leather notes.

sibaraa

Don't be afraid of the Intense licorice upon first spray, It soon transforms into a very sweet almondy cherry. I don't get a lot of rose. considering the Taif one, which does stand out a lot in other perfumes.
Overall, if you like Lolita Lempicka, this will be up your alley. I love it.

It also has a comforting vibe, I guess it's coming from the anise. It did remind me of the sweets we make in the month of Ramadan.

rinrinlovesrinrin

sharp cherry licorice perfume that dries down to a soft, powdery cherry vanilla. tonka beans add some more sweetness and iris to me is so subtle, adding only a tad of a floral note. tea and patchouli give it a bit of a stronger feel but it isn't a strong perfume, just adds some smokiness. it starts a little cold but the drydown is almost like a sharp baby powder scent. romantic and somewhat dark but also rounded by vanilla and tonka beans, so to me it smells more soft and sweet. not a sweet perfume though, so it's not a safe blind buy if that's what you're looking for... and as far as powdery, mon guerlain smells overall better? i think? although, it doesn't have that confusing licorice or cherries to make you wonder if you love or hate it.... mon guerlain is easier to like if you want a powdery perfume with vanilla notes. mon guerlain is lavender powdery and this is like a dark cherries, licorice powdery so.. i have to wear them again, one on each wrist and make the comparison but this was a Christmas present that i hand-picked from my mama so i don't think i'm going to replace its spot on my top 5 favorites. but i might. 🤔

update: this perfume is here to stay for good as a signature of mine. i love the dark cherry with powdery notes and how it smells kinda like baby powder

pariamehr

if you wear this on a cold day you will get a lot of compliments, such great notes, it’s sweet but at the same time the almond note makes it a lot sexier and mature. To be honest it makes me feel nauseas a little bit. If you are a person who easily get headaches, I don’t recommend la petite

naylizzle

smells like a cleaning product to me but in a good way. the almond note makes it creamy and sultry, but it also reminds me of almond lotion so i think it makes a nice pair with some basic almond lotion. then there comes that ‘fizzy’ note that i kinda get, sort of like cherry cola. the tea note gives a herbal all rounder to it which tones the sourness/sweetness down. overall a good 7.5/10 for me!

Hannehoney

Very sexy. Its deep, dark and smoky. I love scents that has a smoky cigarette vibe, and this one has that. Not heavy or strong, this is perfectly blended :) I love it and it will be a new favorite for fall. I can smell rose, licorice, cherry and vanilla. The patchouli is not strong, it just makes it a little deeper. LOVE.

paper.smile

This perfume smells like windex on me, but smells fabulous on my mother. Can't stand it on my own skin but love it when someone else wears it. Very strange one, but has a lot of personality. Very strong sillage imo and very lasting.

kayvee1102

Definitely there is a hint of pipe tobacco mixed with the cherry at the opening. I love this scent, it is not for all you " I love to smell like produce" girls. This is for a woman who loves to smell bold and different. An autumn winter scent.

villiruusut

This was an impulse buy in Paris on my part back in 2013, but I'm surprised that people have rated this perfume so poorly. I do think that calling this "the little black dress" is a bit of a misnomer - I don't think it's the perfume that works for everything and everyone, as a little black dress would. LPRN comes across as playful, flirty, and sensuous to me and it's the kind of scent that stays on your mind. The blast of sour cherry and licorice at the opening may not everyone's cup of tea but she's not here to please you, you have to keep up with her if you want to get to know her better. The syrupy tea and vanilla drydown smells absolutely delicious especially in colder weathers, so it might have worked better named as "the black fur coat". Despite living in tropical country, I absolutely love this and continue to wear them to evening events here.

master ora

I love this perfume alot when the wind blows across my face i get subtle hints of cherry or strawberry shisha.
Licorice and cherry mixed together makes a woman smell like she should be on stage or in a fancy night time restaraunt wearing a raspberry shade lipstick and heels.

missloveschocolate

It’s a nice fragrance without anything remarkable really: if you know/like any of the suggested fragrances you’ll like this one. For me though, it is lacking something … extra. I always have this with guerlain perfumes. It’s pretty timeless and ageless though and I could wear it any day any season.

likesleet

dark cherry with anise, fresh tea, and licorice. not sweet. this has a prominent cherry note but i wouldn’t call this a cherry fragrance bc that misleads you on where this perfume really goes. lots going on but interesting and nice.

CatieK

I really like this fragrance. I don't find it bitter or sour at all, just warm, sweet and a little vintage. I get a lot of licorice, iris and no obvious cherry. Not a blind buy, it's not your average sweet crowd pleaser. La Petite Robe Noire is a little unusual and I love it for that. (It's very similar to Black Perfecto so you probably don't need both.)

sagasår

This is a strange perfume. I am a big lover of cherry perfumes but im unsure of the cherry in this perfume? I can definitely get a sour note but my god is it bitter. This is a very very VERY tart cherry almond perfume. So be warned. This is not the juicy sour cherries you'd expect. The licorice note develops but it really is overwhelmed by this bitter, powdery, fruity note. I agree with the comment below. This perfume is totally vicious.

batemanment

This scent is… vicious. Definitely what Ursula or Maleficent would smell like.

Lemon_Candy04

Not a safe blind buy. I nearly did because I'm a sucker for anything cherry, especially the perfumes. When I saw this tester in stores, well I'm glad that I didn't purchased this. I genuinely don't get a cherry note (or the bottle was expired idk) It's more of the liquorice, patchouli and rose notes that popped out more than anything in my opinion.

strawbrrymelk

Way too spicy

girldeadbug

Didn’t find it too different from Black Perfecto EDP. BP comes off more mature than LPRN EDP. Although I’m 30 I’m not comfortable wearing BP around others yet, I only wear it at home waiting to finally have that confident moment. LPRN EDP sadly is the same way. I was expecting a bright, effervescent cherry with the “red berries” and bergamot but they were all buried underneath the dark, heavier notes. I won’t give up though, for some reason I have faith in Guerlain fragrances. Maybe I’ll try the LPRN EDT or Couture flanker. I already know I love the Intense flanker.

giantenemykat

Fantastic. The cherry is very heavy but you still get the almond and vanilla with it. Couldn’t see myself wearing this outside of the winter season, but it’s incredibly cozy to wear. Hubby said it smelled like cough syrup, unfortunately. I quite like the scent of cherry cough syrup, so I’m indifferent.

Mtotheelly

I realized I hadn't reviewed this and it's past due. This is a lipstick perfume. Usually, I find violet in these perfumes, but I think it's the anise and iris together creating this smell. It's a ladies lipstick or powder scent behind a dark cherry scent. It reminds me so much of French Kiss by Guerlan, so if you love that one get this one instead and save your money. This is more cherry chapstick than a tart or sour cherry. It's very modern because of this and doesn't smell childlike. It's a grown up cherry fruit scent. It's quite beautiful in a coquettish demure way.

Thierry Wasser, is a perfume genius. I'm now at the point where I purchase anything I find made by him. He's that good. Half my collection of perfumes were made by him. I just know when I see his name I'm going to love it. My first encounter with one of his gems was Dior Addict. This is still my favorite perfume he has ever made. It's an absolute masterpiece. My second favorite is Armani Diamonds, which has been discontinued, but I still find bottles when I need to.

This is worth the price and I think is one to enjoy more in the fall and winter months. I love to put this in my hair. Hair holds the scent so well and it's beautiful straight out of the bottle. This is not a perfume that has to mix with your body chemistry.

Ninalovesclassy

I adore this fragrance although it's a bit generic. It's sexy and very yummy with the cherries (which is pretty much the only note I smell). Very disappointed that all of the flankers and the original one smell for not even an hour on me...

Sia_

I love this perfume! It smells sweet and girly and I get compliments when wearing it.
On me it mostly smells like cherry and sweet berries with rose and vanilla.
The only problem is it doesn’t last very long (3 hours max). It still is one of my favourite perfume.

DT953

So I just recently quit smoking and it's helped me smell fragrances a lot better than I used to. This one never used to wear all that well; it'd fade away after three or four hours and a lot of the nuance just wasn't there. Now, however, I can really smell the Guerlainade. I never could sense it before. The tonka, cherries, anise, rose, and almond are mostly what you smell at first, and it can be a bit overpowering. After that, it's mostly that but with a similar bergamot to what you'd find it Eau de Shalimar or Shalimar Cologne. The vanilla, which was always there, becomes softer and there's a lovely powdery touch from the iris. I'm glad I decided to keep this, rather than give it away.

Valercheka

Blind buy based on the description of the top notes. First and last blind buy, I might add. I get cherry cough syrup at the outset, then I get a headache, then I get cherry cough syrup. I tried and tried with this b/c I really like Guerlain, and I wanted the top notes to be what they were supposed to be, but this just doesn't work with me. I have this, but I wish I didn't.

belinda.1

Oh no no - so much anise, for me. Not a fan.

skiergirl24

Third Guerlain frag I have tried and I guess I don't like this house. All I smell is dusty, crusty old lady and room spray. I cannot pick out any of the notes. It just smells like old lady heavy synthetic perfume to me :(

Enrium

Before the release of Mon Guerlain, La Petite Robe Noire was Guerlain's (read: LVMH's) cash cow, often being the sole Guerlain scent offered at most pharmacies and department stores (sometimes joined by a selection of its numerous flankers). I used to spritz myself with testers as a teenager. It is girly and sweet, which appealed to me then, but is not to my taste nowadays. I'm not sure it lives up to its name - a little black dress should be timeless and classic, transcending trends. Instead, this scent is girlishly gourmand. It really reminds me of Lolita Lempicka, but is (even) sweeter and less refined.

LPRN opens with a syrupy cherry note - a little bit lozenge, a little bit liqueur. The red berry notes enhance the sweet fruitiness, with a dash of anise bringing this to Lolita Lempicka territory. The almond is lovely - smooth and marzipan-like, rounding out the gourmand accord.

As it develops, sweet rose emerges which, along with the powdery iris, forms a lipstick accord. The cherry that remains gives the impression of flavoured lip products. Vanilla emerges, adding smooth sweetness. Despite being very sweet and gourmand, the vanilla note completes the Guerlinade accord along with the soft spices, iris and rose. The drydown is vanilla-sweet, with some anise and remnants of cherry. It goes a bit thin after several hours, and is not as "finished" as Lolita. Sillage is reasonably strong, and longevity is day-long.

LPRN is a nice choice for young girls, and is a reasonable alternative to the original Lolita Lempicka (albeit a boozier, more syrupy version with added almonds). The Guerlinade accord elevates it above other sugary gourmands. Not bad, but not something I'd wear, unlike the titular little black dress. 3.5/5.

I got a 10ml bottle on a week long trip to France .I used it both day and night so I have a pretty good idea on how it works with my skin.I can smell cherry, almond and vanilla. Its beautiful (not wow) and the smell lasts max 2 hrs .I mean I sprayed 6-8 times in the morning and repeated in the evening.Nothing left 2 hrs later.I also sprayed on my clothes hoping it would last longer.I am glad I only got the travel spray. Not worth a full bottle. And I think this will keep me from trying anything else from the petit robe range.

Isawhat

The only thing I smell when I sprayed this on my wrist was licorice on top of licorice on a base of licorice. I didn't get any other notes and the licorice was overwhelming. One minute in my stomach was turning so I went and washed it off. I won't be keeping this in my collection.

mariakok

Dark sexy cherry with a powderness in the dry down. Better suited for night time and for ladies 30+ IMO

Katelynl88

This perfume smells like Dr Pepper at first spray then dries down to a powdery baby wipe / powder scent . I don’t k ow if I like it or not ? Something in it reminds me a bit of Gucci guilty . I don’t know about this one . The powder is too strong .

caydesugar

So weird how noses change... I don't know if it's the seasons or if it's just my mood or if I smell things differently at different times... When I first blind bought this, I wasn't sure about it. But a few months later on a cool summer night, I sprayed it again because I was craving something dark cherry like... And I really like this perfume now! Smells like a not super sweet dark cherry & almond dessert - perhaps like a dense/rich dark cherry slice with almond crust. Maybe a more grown up kind of dessert (meaning not overly sweet). Perhaps still not a love yet, but definitely a strong like!

Edit: smells like cherry pie, actually (again, just not overly sweet)

realitygreene

I am having the hardest time articulating my thoughts about Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire (EDP). I really like it, that I know for sure. Every time I take a big sniff of my wrists I have a split second where I think I can smell every single individual note, but then the second passes and I can't smell every note, just a wonderful blend of them: cherry, almond, licorice, tea, vanilla, rose, tonka bean, patchouli, iris, etc.

Despite being an EDP, though, this fragrance feels pretty light. I bought a travel spray from fragrancenet (they decant it themselves) and I sprayed a LOT on my hair, clothes, and skin and it already feels like it's fading quickly after two hours. This could be a case where others will smell it on me, and I hope so! I really want to buy this fragrance because it's so intoxicating, but if the longevity is super weak then I'll be disappointed.

edit: So LPRN definitely faded a bit throughout the day, but not completely. I was laying down in bed about 13 hours after I initially applied the fragrance and I could still smell it on my wrists both when I put my nose right up to them and when I just moved my arms around. This fragrance also lasted a long time in my hair! I think it's worth the price for sure.

coffeefifofum

Opens with a feeling/scent of powder in fresh air. Why am I powdering up while camping? I'm confused. The powder fades. The fresh air gets crisper. The cherry comes in. Sweetness, almond, then florals join the party. And that's all in the first five minutes. By four hours it's all gone.

It's an experience, but there's too much going on here for my taste. All of it together gives the impression of a 15 year old trying to pass for 21 by buying wine instead of vodka.

Moon_of_joy

I wanted so bad to like it, but it’s not for me. I’ve been wanting a sour Cherry fragrance that felt like a cocktail in a luxurious bar, but this felt more like a Cherry closed in a grandma’s closet. The iris, the anise, the licorice make this feel “vintage” in a way that I really don’t like. I’m sure this would have been considered sexy and flirtatious when worn by young girls in the 40s, not in 2022

bobross

I feel like this is a great goth fragrance without being too serious. It's flirty and playful and I can't wait to get a fresh bottle.

ssamhita

When I look at the way I used to dress ten years ago, and the way I dress now, or the way I used to carry myself back then and the way I carry myself now, all that comes to my mind is how much more confident I am now. While I stared longingly at young me’s thin waist and flat tummy and that sharp jawline, I also felt like reaching out to her and saying, “Chin up, baby. Speak louder. Walk taller. Take up space.” The young me wouldn’t have dared to wear a rep lipstick. Or worn a perfume that invited attention.

I believe that’s a thing, isn’t it? It’s easy to wear crowd pleasing perfumes, the pastel florals and yellow citruses. Maybe even the watered down fruity perfumes once in a while. It’s easy to wear them because you know they won’t offend anyone, and most importantly, won’t make people notice you. So if you’re a person who doesn’t want to invite attention, you would gravitate towards such perfumes. I’d know – I used to be one of them. My brother-in-law – who I believe has the best taste in perfumes AND clothes – is the other kind. If perfumes are our calling cards, his is a billboard with neon lights that announces his arrival wherever he goes. It’s not just his perfume though. That man has a personality to match. He’s the life of the party, the guy telling the funniest jokes, the one around whom everyone’s seated, hanging on to each word he says. I am not that person, at all. In fact, throw me in a room full of people, and I will find a nook and try to make myself invisible. But strangely enough, when it comes to the way I dress, I have started to believe that I’m not overdressed, everyone else is simply underdressed. My red lipstick shines bright like a siren, and my perfumes? Well, I am finally warming up to the idea of wearing my personality on my wrist. And other pulse points.

La Petite Robe Noire is predominantly a sour cherry perfume. At first sniff, it smells almost spicy to me, even though there are no spice notes listed for the perfume. The sour cherry and the black currant lends this perfume a dramatic and almost rich overtone. The EDP is apparently a richer version of it, and this one’s a lighter affair that fares better in summer days, but to me, this is not your everyday wear-to-work or even brunch perfume. I find myself reaching for this perfume whenever I make the extra effort to dress up, when I know I am going to wear heels, for instance (I’m a flats woman through and through) or wear foundation and blush (I usually wear lipstick and mascara and call it a day)

This is definitely a sexy, date-night scent. I’m talking glossy silks and swishing satins, fiery red lipstick and sky high heels, velvety wine and decadent chocolate desserts. And when the night is over, long after you reach home, the gorgeous wisps of cherry lingering on your skin will remind you of the best parts of the evening – the intimate conversations, the stolen kisses, and the walk to the cab, your finger intertwined.

mangooo

Just got this one in the mail! So I'll update once I test it some more!

This is very powdery on me. All I smell is powder with a some cherry from opening to drydown. The cherry is a sour, syrupy cherry that sweetens as it dries down. This makes me smell like I doused myself in baby powder while eating Hall's Cherry Cough drops. I do love the cherry note in here, just wish it wasn't as powdery. Maybe I need to let this one settle down some more, so I'll keep testing it out.

EDIT: I've tested this out several more times and this has become a hard dislike for me. I don't really notice the cherry note anymore and all I get is a powdery note that I'm not a huge fan of.

monamostafa212013

That's one of the sexiest perfumes i have ever tried! sweet, cherry cocktail without being medicinal or cloying whatsoever! worth a try and can easily be a signature scent!

AnlisaC

I haven’t worn this in a few years (I’m a perfume collector so all my fragrances are properly stored) anyway, Yup, it’s a fun youthful scent but NOT your teenaged fruity scent but a younger scent for sure. I get a cherry cough syrup vibe (not that this is bad for me because it gives me comfort when my mom would walk into the room with cough syrup on a spoon) it does immediately soften to a cherry cola and sweeter non medicinal scent after about 5 mins. After about two hours it sits close to my skin and comes waifting up every time I move…..WOW so pretty and not at least offensive. I am really liking this and probably be wearing this on my next trip to Disney in a few days….I hope the Guerlain shop is open and I definitely will be heading there! If you like Dior Hypnotic Poison or any sweet cherry scents try this if you can still find it! I understand it’s been discontinued and or reformulated.

karmamay

I can see why this scent isn't everyone's cup of tea. I get the cherry-flavored cough syrup references and I see why it won't appeal to most Guerlain aficionados who are fond of the more traditional offerings from the house.
However, this scent to me is an amalgamation of every flavor I've loved since childhood - sour cherry, almond, berries and licorice.
A little sexy though never too obvious, a bit gourmand yet never cloying, La Petite Robe Noire truly is the understated little black dress I feel confident wearing in a myriad of different settings in the cooler months.

Carah

It's a far cry from typical Guerlain creations. It smells cheap, generic and lack class. Lasts for exactly 2.5 hours on hair, does radiate enough to piss off everyone your vicinity. I do not recommend this smell if you like anything and everything that was created by Guerlain family. This is trash.

emma katherine

Smells like a cherry danish. Not as strong of a cherry as I had hoped but not terrible, a lot more synthetic than its cherry focused counterparts (see: Lost Cherry)

floszra

It's not classy, not elegant and for me it's not even pleasant. It's like a cheap cherry smelled body lotion with loads of patchouli. The outcome is like some weird marzipan with some forced "typical" French perfume undertone, I definitely don't want to smell like this.

takema

Is the cherry in the opening super synthetic? Yep. Do I love it anyway? I sure do!!.

I know that a synthetic note sounds unappealing, but there is something about a synthectic cherry note that I love. It probably reminds me of something from my childhood so it hits the nostalgia factor for me. In LPRN, I found that the synthetic aspect tends to fade away and once it dries down, it smells like a spiced cherry almond dessert...at least on my skin. I find that clothing tends to retain some of the synthetic note a lot longer. I smell alot more of the rose in the opening and for the first couple hours. In the deeper drydown, it disappears completely and is replaced with the vanilla.

La Petite Robe Noir is often compared to Lolita Lempicka EDP, they do share a lot of notes. I have both and love both of them. I find LPRN is fruitier and more gourmand with the cherry much more dominant, it also doesn't have the green notes present in LL.
This is a heavier fragrance, most suitable for cooler weather. I find it can become overwhelming and cloying in heat. LPRN has a ridiculous number of flankers and at least a couple are great summer fragrances, I really like the Eau Fraiche myself.

The performance of this fragrance is amazing. I find it lasts 10+ hours and projects quite a bit for 4-6 hours and the scent trail is delicious. It doesn't need a heavy spray to get that performance, but I do like to add an extra couple sprays when I wear it for a night out. I did overspray it one time...and it was not good...way too much.

I really like the bottle and it is very Guerlain. I looks quite pretty displayed. The best part though is the atomiser. It sprays a beautifully fine, wide mist that is quite generous which contributes to a beautiful scent cloud all around me when I wear it.

Celinasusu

It does indeed smell like tea

Alu894

This scent on me is soooooo strong. It also lasts forever on clothes and masks.

I really only pick up cherry, tea, and liquorice. It almost smells like a cherry tea.

Fantastic for night outs.

Stoicchild

The only Guerlain perfume I like because of the boozy Cherry. Smells like an expensive sophisticated Cherry.

marialena888m

I have been in love with Lolita Lempicka since I first smelled it at age 13, and it’s been in my collection for over 10 years, even becoming my signature at one point. So I’m not sure why Guerlain’s LPRN isn’t working for me. I recognize the similar notes, yet LPRN feels stuffy and ‘heavy’, and lacks that mystical sparkle of LL. Maybe because LPRN is a denser scent while LL somehow feels sparkly and ethereal inspite of it being pretty dense in its own right (pre-reformulation especially). The green herbaceous nuance in LL is missing in LPRN. Perhaps I’m being unfair to LPRN, but I went for it only because this page told me it smells like LL. Maybe similar, but totally different personalities and both wear very different! LPRN is very earth bound and urban, a trendy socialite drinking cherry liquer, somewhere in some major city late in the evening...LL on the other hand, is a cheeky forest fairy with a secret stash of licorice and violet candies hidden in her tree home, somewhere in the woods. Both fragrances have a ‘night-time’ feel to them, but they work for daytime too.

ingeneuxo

-Opens smelling like fizzy sour pop.
-Plummy goodness in an iconic bottle.
-I don't get much of the almond notes.
-Not a safe blind buy unless you enjoy sour scents.
-If you enjoy licorice this would be your jam. (-)

*Update*
-LPRN doesn't quite bloom in tropical weather.
-The licorice note is virtually undetectable, leaving this falling flat.
-In the tropics, LPRN wears as an incredibly linear, musty-smelling cherry fragrance that's both cloying and dense.
-More suited for fall/winter.
-I'd recommend a Lolita Lempicka dupe called Mini Sexy by Ulric de Varens over this. (The only wearable LL's are the 1997 Original and 2010 Le Premier formulations..both of which go for crazy prices on evil bay.) (-)

marysunroyse

I was hesitant to try it , afraid it will be too sweet, or “cheap” smelling, boy was I wrong. This one is right up my alley!

This is indeed a little black dress, under a winter coat, playfully hiding for us to discover.

The opening is full of sour cherry and berries, with almond peeking through, and bergamot adding some sharpness.
The dry down though, is why I love it. This is a somewhat powdery, a tad rosy cherry and almonds, really pleasant and gentle. Not overly sweet by any means, youthful and sexy. The other notes don’t come to my nose as much, but adding complexity to the scent.

I honestly can’t imagine this scent offending anyone, well unless you hate cherry notes, but I would’ve loved to smell this one on people more often.
Great for a cold day, but even more a cold evening.

Steph_S

I've worn this fragrance a few times now, in warm and cool weather. In the warm/hot weather, it's a bit too much. The heat and the cherry scent don't mesh well. It becomes a cough-syrupy mess. However, in the cooler weather, this is a bit hit for me!! The scent is a mellow cherry blanket that stays with me all day (longer on my clothes). Even with a mask, whiffs of incredible cherry permeated through. My office even had lingering cherry remnants, but not like a air freshener - nicer than that. I can't wait to try the Black Perfecto when the weather gets really cold; well as cold as it gets in Southeast Texas. ;-)

RedMartyr

Yuck, all i smell is a urinal puck. I find this scent to be too extreme in the cherry department. Just too much cherry it ruined any other notes that might be there. the dry down is a little more tolerable but still reminds me of a urinal puck. Not saying its a bad fragrance, if you like the smell of synthetic cherries then youll love this- if youve smelled this scented urinal puck that i speak of then thats probably all you will smell.

emilyjxne

I’ve been trying lots of cherry & almond fragrances so was excited to try this but it’s very sour, sharp & not to my taste. I expect that it’s the liquorice I don’t like. I don’t disagree with the mulled wine comparisons. Such a shame as I love the bottle, hopefully I will like intense flanker instead. The scent profile, if you like it, would be great for winter & definitely not your standard designer fragrance. Can’t comment too much on performance as I just spritzed a couple of sprays on the back of my hand so it’s a bit of a first impression.

Nora Gad

i loved it so much very cheerful and elegant dry down

amamisa

I feel like the artificial cherry scent is so difficult to make work in a perfume, but La Petite Robe Noire does it perfectly. But I do have to say, it is not for everyone. The cherry is very strong.
I used to avoid fruity and floral scents because my mom always told me they don't suit brunettes, whatever that means. But this one I just had to get my hands on, and even my mom doesn't mind it on me, a brunette. I feel like this scent is flirty and sexy in the most innocent way possible, like you didn't try to be sexy, if you get me? It's not the most long lasting scent I have, but I can get by with reapplying once, and it certainly lingers on your clothes. I find most people don't think it's all that when they smell it straight out of the bottle or on a tester, but when they actually smell it on another person they like it.

caydesugar

So weird... On me, it does not last long and isn't super strong; it becomes a skin scent fairly quickly. But most of the reviews say that it's long lasting and it's strong! I know I did not get a fake but maybe my skin just does not hold this perfume well. Which again is quite funny because Viva La Juicy lasts for the whole day and night on me when most reviews say that that perfume is weak and not long lasting!

To me, I don't find this to be super 'young' smelling nor is it that sweet. It does have some sweetness but hardly. I think there were reviews saying this is a cherry mulled wine type of smell and I totally agree. It's a more 'grown up' scent than I am used to (my signature is Viva La Juicy). I don't picture a night out in a little black dress but I do picture hanging out in the night, in a forest, deep in the woods, with dark forest berries around everywhere.
Sort of reminds me of a not so sweet potpourri - which also sort of reminds me of the department store haha.

It gives me dark vibes and I quite like that. I don't particularly love the smell but I do like the vibe I get from it and it makes me feel a little 'gothic'. Which is funny because the marketing is sooo opposite of that! Maybe the more I keep smelling it, it may evoke other feelings! But until then... this is my review :)

violet violin

Finally got my hands on this. I love cherry, love, love love almond, and ADORE licorice scents.
I don’t consider myself to be a gourmand fragrance lover though which would be weird to some individuals because everyone says how sweet this is, and how it is a gourmand. But the thing is- this is a sour cherry, a bitter almond and black licorice or anise. None of these things are exceptionally sweet. Maybe syrupy, thick smelling if you will, but to my nose not overly sweet. When I think sweet I think cotton candy, sugary vanilla etc. Those to me are gourmand. But maybe I’m just wrong. I’m liking fragrances in the territory of LPRN more and more . Maybe I’ve switched sides. I like honeyed flowers, almonds, a little cherry, dark chocolate, cold unsweetened vanilla. I guess since we are talking foods here, then gourmand so shall I be! But I think those notes are a more sophisticated twist on gourmand, and this is why LPRN is sort of like a little black dress. Simple, delicious, sophisticated.

blorpkin

I guess I'm a masochist because I love being slapped hard by this strong, artificial cherry smell. I also like how cherry-flavored medicine tastes, so maybe you shouldn't trust my tastes. If you ever tasted cherry Robitussin and thought to yourself, "This isn't bad," then maybe you should sample this.

I solicited a male opinion: "It's sexy." I agree!

ajjava

I've been revisiting many of my rarely-used fragrances, to see if/how my tastes have changed. I just sprayed this on my arm. It is almost EXACTLY like smelling a Bounce dryer sheet. I know, because that's the only kind of dryer sheet that we ever have in the house. Not sure how I never noticed before - but once you DO notice, you can't UN-notice. I won't be wearing this one again.

lady_ireth264

I stayed away for quite some time from LPRN OG. I adore Couture, the best LPRN for me. Then I bought LPRN Black Perfecto, I like its grungy gothic feel.
Then I purchased Guerlain mini sample collection, and one of them is LPRN OG.
Finally managed to really analyze it last night.

On me LPRN OG opens up with a blast of that cherry bergamot, the cough syrup note haha I like it. The cherry is really pronounced here indeed. After a few minutes licorice and almond appear. I have to say the licorice note is like to the point of overwhelming and I guess the absence of licorice in Couture is perhaps the reason it's my fave (and the heavenly drydown of oakmoss and vetiver). So with OG I put up with the licorice and after awhile I think I can smell the tea note. I wish the licorice will just back away.
Surely, after what seems like a long time in a licorice spree, I can smell the rose.
The drydown of OG, on me, is kinda non-existent or just not strong enough for my skin. It's as if the perfume stops developing after I managed to smell the rose notes.

All in all, I kinda like it. But it's average likeness for me not something special. I mix this mini sample with Black Perfecto that's more interesting though not to the point of adoration as with Couture.
And longevity is moderate.

my_tien_n

Wanted to like this but the cherry and powder combination is just not for me.

Genvicii_

Bought this as a blind buy. Did not like it :/. It smells exactly like the cherry car freshener that comes in a can. If you’re into that go for it lol. I can’t stand it. Will be selling it immediately :’)

olik

I love this perfume...may be because i love cherries and booze....lol....right away I can smell dark cherry liqueur, may be even a little brandy... then, after few minutes, i can detect some sugar and spices. mixed with smooth vanilla... dries down to a faint powdery very warm spice smell... I guess its all about chemistry with the skin... Its smells amazing on mine, i would even say yummy....lasts around 5 hours with modest projection...

almondluver1

Such a pretty fragrance! I get cherries 🍒, licorice, maybe anise 🤔?, and the black tea. The tea definitely gives this cherry fragrance a “cold” quality to it. I’m not really picking up on the nutty aspect. I adore this cherry fragrance but I think I might like Lolita Lempicka just a bit more because it’s a lot sweeter (super sweet & very girly, a candy cherry if you will while this one is a realistic cherry with spices), tho this one is sweet as well. This is a sexy adult cherry perfume that would be great for evenings & date nights!

diana2015

I keep testing this fragrance in the hope that I might eventually like it enough to buy a full bottle. It has everything going for it; it's a Guerlain with an affordable price, good longevity and projection, and a nice bottle design.
But alas, on my skin this is not as friendly and smooth as I wish it was.
Some reviewers say it's a sweet gourmand, but on my skin it's far from that. It's actually a tiny bit too sharp and sour on me, reminding me of a strong cherry brandy mixed with spices and powdery but dusty roses. That's all, I get no vanilla whatsoever from it.
This cute, flirty dress doesn't envelop me with warmth, smoothness and creaminess. I do like its fruity character, but I find it less cheerful than the Couture version, and less smooth than Velours.
As for the comparison to Lolita, I don't see any resemblance to that one; at least on my skin, Lolita is a suffocatingly sweet mess.
Overall, LPRN is an interesting perfume that I'll keep testing. Who knows, maybe in time I'll like it more than I do now.

anni_cola

I truly had high hopes for this fragrance. As a gourmand love whose favorite notes include cherry, almond, and vanilla, La Petite Robe Noir sounded like the perfect sweet but edgy concoction. I've been on a journey to find a good, solid cherry for those days where I didn't want to smell like a pastry, but still sweet with a bit of an edge that would last throughout the day (I'm looking at you Lolita Lempicka Sweet reformulation.)

Boy does this thing last. It technically does cover all of the bases however, on my skin the berries pull heavy and writhers around my neck to asphyxiate me. For hours, I walk around smelling a mixture of various berry pancake syrups from iHop or Denny's. No one said anything positive or negative; leaving me to ponder if it was just I who this fragrance bombarded. I remembering wishing I got the powder, the anis- literally anything else that would save me from my self induced headache.

Perhaps all of this happened due to my sensitive allergies or body chemistry or a mixture of both, but this is the first time where I've even been hesitant to research a flanker that may work better. All in all, La Petite Robe Noir is a uniquely sweet fragrance that I'm sure works lovely for others, unfortunately, just not me.

Katelynl88

When I first sprayed it , it reminded me of Dr Pepper . Sweet gourmand , I can smell the cherry . It smells powdery to me though, I’m super surprised powdery isn’t in the scent chart . After it dries down it smells a bit more spicy? Still powdery, reminded me briefly of the car tree scents , the forest one , or maybe an old spice aftershave . I really liked it at first but now I’m not sure how I feel. I will wear it but I am questioning if I like it .” Mmmmmmm this smells good! Hmmmm wait , it’s ok, do I like this ? “

Sreza7

Juicy mouth watering cherries and red berries. I do get alittle bit of rose and tea. The anise is nice and gives it that edginess. I would wear this with a leather jacket…. And maybe just buy Black Perfecto while I’m at it.

Gruhlanska96

wooow sooo nice 👍

elizadabrowskabieruta

I refer to the EDP version. This is my favorite "afternoon" perfume - for a coffee with a friend, for a walk and shopping in the city, for a casual date with my husband. They are too strong to wear them in the office (unless really a few drops), but too weak for the evening.

I do not associate them with femme fatale, but rather with a young woman in spirit, self-confident and enjoying the moment.

They have everything I like - sweetness, but broken - with a slightly sour and smoky note (so that it is not too sweet). This is important to me, because my skin is usually marked (if it is on the fragrance notes list) with vanilla, licorice and anise, hence breaking them with a strong scent of currant (which I love in perfumes), cherries and rising smoke is a plus. A rose lurks somewhere in the background, but I don't really feel it.

Their longevity is decent. After few hours, only sweet notes remain close to the skin - which is a standard for me.

These are the perfumes that always cheer me up. My absolute must-have.

almondluver1

@Xt79&FI1#6E9dbxV thank you 💕!!! I just got it and I love it 😍! You’re right, they smell completely different, this one is so much up my ally it’s crazy 😝

Phantomias

This one's a disappointment. Sharp chemical notes almost overwhelm the cherry/almond notes, which makes the fragrance seem cheaper than it is. Think cleaning fluid sexed up with cherry aroma, a nasty combination. But this is Guerlain after all, and while LPRN is available in the iconic bottle, the scent is sub par. Lasting power and sillage are modest, meaning the fragrance is work safe.

DT953

I went through a period of using this all the time, to not using it for over a year and a half. Now, in the back of my mind, I was always semi-aware of what it smelt like; when I came back to it, it was like first sniff all over again. I'm back in love after being unfairly just "okay" with it from a faulty memory. The licorice and anise in this! I tell you, they just sing. There's a fruity cherry, but I'm not sure I'd even say it's what I notice first anymore. It feels more almond and tonka centric on my skin, with the aforementioned sweetness in the licorice and soft spiciness of the anise with a nice background of roses and cherries. It feels less mature than many Guerlain fragrances, but I'd tell you that it goes with anything. L'Homme Ideal & LPRN kinda feel like a cute coupling. I wear both... very lovely side by side. Quintessential modern Guerlain, along with Insolence. Fun!

fairymeist

In response to @almondluver1, it is not similar to Dazzle, this is more mature, more elegant, more delicious and the cherry is more realistic, Dazzle is very synthetic and smells a little cheap to me.
They are different perfumes.

Gemini Moon

High pitched cherry , liquorice perfume with anis.
Drydown is a little powdery as well. Its okay but gives me coco mademoiselle vibes a little bit .

almondluver1

I’m thinking about getting this but I noticed that the scent profile is nearly identical to Paris Hilton’s Dazzle, which I used to own but then gave away. Does anyone who’s tested both perfumes know if this one smells similar to Dazzle? Thanks ❤️

sistermoon

Cherries, almonds and roses with plenty of powdered sugar. Sweet but delicate. A light gourmand with a floral twist. It reminds me of pink meringues. The bottle is lovely too. Staying power is very poor. This type of fragrance would probably perform better and last longer as a perfume oil or a body lotion.

Escada's Cherry in the Air is not as refined but is a good alternative with a better staying power.

NDStars

First blast of powdery sweet black cherries, tea, and faint licorice. Very sweet but not cloying or cough medicine sweet, just feels freshly syrupy and almost candy-like. To me the cherries aren't the most realistic; it's definitely an artificial cherry but I don't mind. It's youthful but dark, sweet but not ethereal. I use this to scent my bedsheets at night and it's always delicious. Moderate projection. Feminine and suitable for all weather. I don't think the projection is so strong that it would be headache-inducing in the summer but to each their own.

6+ hours later: The sweet black cherry is still predominant on my skin, dusky with licorice. Faint.

writekatewrite

I don't like licorice, but I enjoyed the intense (blueberry) version of LPRN so much that I had to try the original. The cherry on me is almost more raspberry, but like actual fruit, not fruity candy. The licorice is very present for the first half hour, but the drydown is lovely red berries/rose/tonka. Similar to the intense drydown, but with red berries instead of blueberries. It actually reminds me of the drydown of DKNY My NY.

brokesta911

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire (2012) - cherry almond - @thierrywasser creates this versatile perfume around Tart Black Cherries, Red Berries and Smooth Almonds. In a way, this combination can get juvenile, so he balances the accord with Rose, Patchouli, Anise and Vanilla. Bright yet dark at the same time. Not just for young girls.

Zahraaaa

The first whiff of this perfume, you can smell a passionate cherry and almond, the top note is cute in my opinion but as the perfume dried down, it started smelling pungent, and cheap, sort of like candy, and the smell just wont go away. The perfume becomes very weak after 2 hours, but something stays there, something bad. I can imagine early teens wearing this, but hopefully thats it

lyka

je l'adore mais tellement porté par d'autres personnes que je le mets très rarement, odeur de cerise à tomber, liquoreuse; parfum fleurit, fruité très porté mais oeuvre d'art

Kitkat21

This smells like vintage rose cherry soap. It’s very subtle and faint. Doesn’t match the bottle design or colour.

fleader

This is so nice!! I agree with the reviewer below who emphasizes its crispness, which is surprising considering it has fruit & patchouli notes. It strongly reminds me of Lolita Lempicka, but crisper and no caramel.

Veronika95

So sweet and juicy and crisp ... those are the main words that come to my mind whenever I wear this beautiful scent. You simply must try it on your skin, paper is not enough. Maybe it's a body chemistry thing, but what this does with my skin that's just ... oh my god 🤪 I love to wear it in the summer, when it can bloom to its full potential. And no, it's not too sweet and heavy for a hot weather, even if it looks like it. There is something crisp and slightly fresh, that makes it actually great for hot weather. And the sweetness is somehow grown up and yet still flirty and super feminine. Just don't overspray and let the magic happen.
I don't know what else to tell you, just go and buy it. It's such a great value for the price. The longevity is pretty good for the price

Kurama

Despite that La petite robe noir has 2 of the notes that I have trouble with (anise and liquorice), I must say that I love it. It is so well blended that none of the notes are poking through, but rather create a perfect environment for the dark cherry to shine. These are not fresh dark cherries, but half-dried ones, still sticky inside and both tart and sweet.
If you want to smell very sweet, but not infantile, this one is the right one. I imagine a girl/woman that is proud to show off her feminity wearing it but still has a contradictory edge - like she's wearing a little black dress with a leather jacket, and she has really good hair and she's actually really nice and polite until you step on her toe :)) I deviate too much, but that's how I portray it.

tonkatsu335

Sweet sweet armond cherry pie.
If you just smell it for a moment, it's delicious and wonderful, but if you keep smelling it, it's too sweet and gives you heartburn.

The smell is strong and long-lasting, so I don't have much chance to wear it.

After dry down, it smells like a men's hair tonic...
This perfume made me realise that I don't like patchouli.

mevans

Cherry and almond really appeal to me so this is definitely my jam. The opening highlights these two particular notes but I absolutely get the rose and a subtle base of the vanilla and tonka. I love that the cherry sticks around as it dries down. The base comes in stronger of course but the fruity notes do not go away even after a few hours like they do in some perfumes where all you're left with is vanilla or woody notes. This is a fun and flirty fragrance. It's young and carefree rather than mature and sophisticated. Totally appropriate for daytime wear as well as evenings out that are on the more casual side. It's sweet and candy-like, nothing serious or deep here. Very nicely done for that genre though. I like it very much for spring and summer.

PlanetGrl

Another I was eagerly awaiting, and I don't care for it. I actually get the cherry here. but there is still that odd powdery scent on my skin that I do not like. The licorice note reminds me a bit of cough syrup.

Dani342

I tried this one out and it just wasn't for me. If anyone wants to do a trade or something let me know.

zgeco

I tried it when it was launced in 2012 and disliked it. 10 yrs later- today- I tested it by chance, and like it very much.

La petite robe noir is an elegant Guerlain. The notes may have become too generic but remember - the way Thierry Wasser of Guerlain blends them makes the difference, and adds the Guerlain elegance to the scent. This pretty girl in her signature “must have” black dress targets young, relatively wealthy and elegant ladies.

The bottle is the design heritage of Mitsuoko and L heure de Bleu (up to my current knowledge in the field). The scent smells cherry which is softened with almonds and vanilla. It smells the Danish Christmas desert “Ris a la Mande”.

the scent is lovely and elegant. It s expensive though. Although not so trendy any more and perhaps too much imitated, I think it is still worth having a small bottle in the collection. One of the iconic Guerlain scents

Aveline

I wanted to like this, but it's a no for me dawg. All cough syrup on my skin. Never morphs into anything else, then disappears in a few hours. Bummer.

sparklyunicorn

I think this is a delicious and rich scent. It is not pure candy and yet, it is such an 'easy-reach'. It is sweet, but also interesting. It has that powderiness and this licorice that is at the same time classy and grown-up. It is a great one for going out with friends, going to a casual event or even at night. I love it and recommend to anyone that enjoys fun scents.

clintjr82

Uggh. Headache strongggg Sour Cherry, Cough syrup and finger nail polish. This is like a scent for playful teenage boppers. I would not buy this for a Woman.

ejsmd11.1

I ordered a sample based on a YouTube video by Kristo. Couldn’t get past the opening. Very overly sweet synthetic smelling cherry. Had to scrub it off.

Markellam92

I'm not sure yet about that perfume 😐It smells like a man's perfume on me very heavy... Not that sweet more spicy! It was a blind buy and I haven't smelled it in any store so I will check once the stores are open again in case mine was not the original 😒

LawmaLlama

I really wanted to love this classic, but it is just ho-hum. It opens very medicinal cherry syrup, like a cold or cough syrup. which I don't care for. It morphs a bit and I get the licorice, anise, and tonka bean. About an hour later I smell a faint soft vanilla, and then 2 hours in and it's gone. I am surprised it is so weak on lasting power, even though I overspray. I can appreciate where Guerlain was going with this profile, but it is just ok for me.

SailorCupcake

My signature fragrance for over five years. It's sweet, a little mysterious, warm, and fruity. On my skin, it turns into a decadent treat as the hours pass. I have the lotion and shower gel as well, all super high quality. If you like fruity fragrances that are bit more grown up and sexy, try this out

clementinegurl

Very generic, sweet, powdery. Smells like a 60 year old French woman. Sort of milky? Like cherry soda with whipped cream. If you're looking for something unique this is not it. I will not be buying.

sarage

I took a paper tester and put it in my handbag, went to a café with a friend. All the time I smelled the tester! My whole handbag was smelling so good! This is a very strong fragrance with great longevity and strong sillage. I would not wear this at work, or maybe just one spray above my hair..It's perfect for fall season. The cherries smell delicious. I am glad I have one bottle on it's way to my home. I think this will be my scent for celebrations and special times. I love the bottle, too. Thierry Wasser did a good job.

Lovaloo

The general trend, with few exceptions, seems to be: if, A) the juice is pink or, B) the bottle is pink, the fragrance will be too sweet for my liking. La Petite Robe Noire is the rare exception to the trend.

I love the idea of sour cherries alongside almond and tonka with soft spices like licorice and anise. In practice it smells like buying gourmet licorice in an old fashioned candy store. The sweet gourmand cough syrup of my dreams, hehe.

I admire this one quite a bit. It's a Guerlain fragrance so it's well done. One of the more unique, interesting candy-sweet perfumes I've tried. It's a refreshing change of pace. I appreciate it and I'm glad it's here.

It distantly reminds me of Dazzle by Paris Hilton, a celebrity perfume centered around "sour cherry" that my mom gave me when I was in my teens. La Petite Robe Noir is much more complex & sophisticated than Dazzle, but it gives off the same flirtatious, girlish energy. These days my mind is far removed from playful girly scents, but not so far removed that this can't put a smile on my face. It's very pleasant and somewhat nostalgic. :-)

I agree that it smells rather similar to Lolita Lempicka. I can't do a direct comparison, but if memory serves: I think this one has more of a soft leathery/suede presence whereas Lolita Lempicka goes in a more fruity violet direction. They're both very nice as far as candy perfumes go!

Tobiornottobi

This perfume confuses me. Every time I put it on it smells different.

I suspect something though- I have found if I spray it after a shower I get that syrup cherry smell, almost a powdery scent I think that's the licorice and tonka bean. This doesn't go away until like 6 hours later to be able to smell the dry down.
However, say I spray it the first time in the evening, not after a shower. It sort of smells richer? And not synthetic? The other notes are more prevalent like the tea and especially the almond. I honestly don't know what iris flowers smell like. But I think it's in the dry down and it smells great.

I like the way both spray methods smell. Maybe the difference is actually just my imagination because I didn't do any scientific experiment? Oh well it's what I'm getting. Lol.

It lasts long on me; 6 hours of top and middle scents. 6 more as a skin scent with dry down and then it disappears.
Let me also point out that I never could smell the rose, patchouli, or the bergamot not on my skin anyways.

This is my first Guerlain fragrance. I like it a lot even though I have nothing to compare it to.

In conclusion it's a 9/10 for me.

bmonkey

I can definitely smell the bergamot, cherry, and rose in the opening. The iris is there in the background. I like it!
I give it a 9 out of 10

danygurl06

I was afraid this would smell like cough drops or Jergen’s original cherry almond scented lotion. It’s actually a really nice fragrance. It smells mainly of black cherries and tea that typically turns powdery on my skin. It’s sweet and girly without being too much.

When I first sprayed it, the juice in the air smelled like Lolita Lempicka. After 10 or so seconds, it turned into its own thing. At first it’s reminiscent of cherry pie. Then it eventually dries down to black cherries and a hint of cherry chapstick. The Licorice is very faint. So it doesn’t smell like a black jelly bean. On my skin this has a very smooth and soft texture.

I can see why this is called the little black dress. The little black dress goes with everything. You can dress it up or dress it down. It’s a staple piece in a wardrobe. This fragrance is the very much the same. And just like a work horse piece in a wardrobe, this fragrance is kind of neutral. It doesn’t stand out as some one of a kind creation. It’s just sweet and feminine background music that lets the person shine instead of the fragrance.

Mmmmmm...I do love it when I blind buy a fragrance and enjoy it at first sniff! The top note was spicy but soon gives way to a fizzy cherry soda. This is delightful, girlish, and fun--like a trip to a 50's Soda Shoppe.

Gradually, then, it blooms into a sweet cherry almond pastry. Wow - just like a French confection with powdered sugar! LOVE IT!

Happy that it's in my collection!! I think this will be perfect for Autumn.

It’s 1999 and I am thirteen. I’m sipping an off brand cherry 7-UP I grabbed from the dollar store on the way to the head shop, where I’m now painstakingly selecting hand-dipped incense sticks from the huge display in front of me and dropping them one by one into a slim plastic baggie.

This scent transported me there.

The branding of this perfume is a betrayal. Rather than evoking a chic young woman having a night out on the town in her LBD, it flashes me back to JNCO jeans, skateboards, Jansport backpacks that reek of incense, and cherry Blow Pops - and that’s not a bad thing to remember.

compare to EDT, La Petite Robe Noire EDP is more sweet and sugary. If EDP is the syrup then EDT is the cherry-coke, if EDP is the cherry-coke then EDT is the diet.

I enjoy EDT's freshness and penetrating more, according to the notes on the page it says it's the green apple.

EDP is fullness and richness, EDT is splendid and feverous, EDT is a younger LPRN and the longevity is also long-lasting. and Eau Fraiche is La Petite Robe Blanche, in the white freesia.

Guerlain are just geniuses, alright?

I don't know how a fragrance house can make me semi-psychotic about getting a bottle of almost cherry-flavoured medicine, but Guerlain win that particular trophy.

That black cherry, liquorice, and anise combination is pungently sweet and room-filling on first spray. A minute after I sprayed this, I went to a meeting (because that's how I roll), and a colleague exclaimed, "OH! Who's got that lovely fruity perfume on?!"
It then settles to an uber-glamourous scent. Rest assured, it *does* calm down. It's still cherry-heavy, but that almond is actually quite gentle, and I do honestly detect a small amount of rose and iris which I believe brings the glam factor (Not The X-Factor, geddit?).
Also a slight hint of powder that might be from the iris, but I feel this is what gives it an old-school femme fatale vibe to it. I feel like I should be carrying a long cigarette holder while wearing this (I don't smoke).

Predominantly, this is a fruity gourmand. Veeeery small amount of floral. It's also super-synthetic, but in the best possible way.

You might wear a little black dress with this. You might wear jeans and your best Nirvana band T-shirt. Or a singlet with combat boots. Or a flipping clown-suit.
I don't mind, Perfumites, but WEAR this because it's delicious, fun, and attention-getting.

Longevity good, but still want longer.
Sillage awesome.
Bottle? One of the best! Make your way to the front of the display dresser, please.

Kitty rating: 9/10.

Licorice and cherry syrup. It is a very strong scent, very feminine. The bottle is so cute by the way.

BlackOrchidSorceress

Absolutely divine

This is Lolita Lempicka later on in her life, sophisticated and married

I spray it 40 times a day

I thought I hated Guerlain as a whole but this has just become my new favorite scent

Sour cherry is strong, airy tea, luscious almond, bright bergamot, anise tonka patchouli, deep and light at the same time

BUT IT IS ALSO THE RED CHERRY SOUR PATCH KIDS FLAVOUR

Just got this in the mail. It's lovely, not as sweet as I expected, the cherry dominates it (which I was aware of before buying). Interestingly I detect a slight smokiness in it, and less almonds than I was expecting. It's gorgeous, honestly I don't think I would ever dislike any of Guerlain's more modern perfumes (maybe the older ones either but never tried those), they're stunningly executed.

I have a 50ml bottle if anyone is interested in swapping. The sour cherry note in combination with licorice turns very too heavy and thick on my skin.

This is so beautiful. The bergamot and berries are a little strong at first, but just momentarily. Then it softens with the almond and the roses and the cherries... just gorgeous. There’s a comforting, softly spiced vanilla in the dry down. I want this perfume to be my best friend.

I'm a lover of Guerlain but this was so bad I gave it away to my teenage niece. Very cloying and run of the mill - more of a 'fashion' scent than the usual standard of Guerlain.

La Petite Robe Noire is like a sweet bowl of mixed candies, cherry, licorice and marzipan. It's a well balanced fragrance and so interesting in the way that it doubles as both a clean and soapy smell (reminiscent of the day) as well as a rich and sweet scent (reminiscent of the night). It's like a chameleon, like a dress you can dress down or dress up. It projects a richness and great sweetness but still remains discreet and delicate.

This isn’t quite so much a review as it is confusion and a question... I received a bottle today, which I ordered from fragrancenet. The juice in this bottle is absolutely NOTHING like anything I find described here. I may come back and do a full review, on my take of it... but I’m just unsure if I even received what I was supposed to. After all, I did purchase from fragrancenet and they are pretty sketchy, from my approx. 19 years of experience, with them. They’re kinda ‘hit or miss’, but Mostly miss. Anyway, I realize that each of us are different and our perceptions are understandably different. But, to be THIS different is a little concerning to me... my question is ***DOES ANYONE DETECT AN INCENSE NOTE WITH THIS FRAGRANCE?*** Because that is, seriously, all I can detect. Possibly, some underlying florals or vanilla, blended in and in the background, but mostly... INCENSE. a lovely incense scent, I must say... but NO CHERRY, whatsoever. Does ANYONE out there get the same thing, from this fragrance? (I purchased the EDP, by the way).

Mc1995

It’s nice. Sweet, Pretty. Quite similar to Lolita Lempicka. The licorice and anise are what are in common. It’s nice, inoffensive in my opinion. A deeper more cherry almond version of Lolita Lempicka. Something so well done only Guerlain could’ve put it out.

I do love this fragrance - I wore it for several years! Nowadays, I find myself reaching for flankers of it that are a touch more unique in my collection, but this will always have a place in my heart.

This is sweet, cherry, classy fragrance. It smells very specifically like Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers to me but is grounded with sandalwood. I think this would be a great intro perfume into the world of more niche fragrances (Guerlain isn't a 'true' niche - yes yes yes) or a great intro fragrance for someone newer to more 'mature' perfumes that is much more unique than a lot of the mainstreams. If you have been wearing the likes of Pink Sugar, Fantasy - sweet fragrances, and want to try something different / more complex - this is your girl.

Longevity is on par with most Guerlains - 6-8 hours on skin, 10+ on clothing. Silage is moderate for me - don't overspray.

Overall 7.5/10. Part of me longs for another bottle, but I know where to find it if I need some.

This perfume is a dark, sweet, juicy floral fruity. The main note is a ripe, sweet, deep red cherry, opening the way to soft almond, red berries, drying down to fresher notes of tea, rose and peony. Eventually La Petite Robe Noire develops its luxurious legendary guerlinade base of sweet vanilla, powdery tonka beans and iris. This is a fruity floral perfume with an outstanding complexity. If you like strong, sweet and a bit dark perfumes, like Lolita Lempicka, Tresor La Nuit, Black opium YSL or even Hypnotic Poison by Dior, you are likely to find a friend in La Petite Robe Noire.

Eternity Girl

This perfume for me is in the 'Why oh freaking why did I give this away' category !!
I am mad nuts about Black Perfecto and I am so sad I gave my LPRN of 2012 away. I just wasn't that into it at the time.
My only consolation is I did give it to my best friend so that's the best possible outcome for a personal perfume lament.

kayleenanncooke

I adore this perfume so much. I can detect almost every single note listed. I get a beautiful tart cherry, a gorgeous Dusty Rose, aromatic black tea, the wonderful magical fairy like licorice note that Lolita lempicka shares. For me it's just absolutely stunning. It just reminds me of my English grandma's house baked cherry pies or old makeup, black tea, and licorice candy.
Guerlain is yet again the greatest perfume house for women in my opinion. I'm just a bit sad about the reformulations in the bee bottle. Glad this is not in the bee bottle.
I also want to add that the Cherry in this is what authentic real Cherry smells like. I've grown up with a bunch of different cherry trees. The Cherry in Tom Ford's lost Cherry is sweet and cloying. When you open up a cherry and smell it it does not smell sickly sweet like that. I've baked tons of cherry pies from scratch. I picked all of the cherries to put into those pies and I have smelled them so I would know. Lol.

I own sixteen perfumes from Guerlain, my favorite mainstream house. So maybe it’s a good thing La Petite Robe Noire doesn’t work for me—I have way too much and will not get through what I have in this lifetime.

I’m in the medicinal cherry cough syrup camp. Very sweet and synthetic, a hodgepodge of notes. Once I read the list, the power of suggestion makes me think I can pull them out individually, but I can’t, as it’s borderline headache territory for me to do so.

Apiaceae

My relationship with Guerlain is complicated. I have tried the intense and the edt a few times before buying the edt because of the compliments I was getting from my partner. After some time, I ended up buying the edp, which I am starting to love more and more. Although I prefer the more realistic cherry in Lost Cherry from Tom Ford, LPRN edp has a compote/preserve type of appeal that I cannot hate on. Even its synthetic vibe is growing on me. Not overly childish due to its fruitiness, but never matronly. Perfect for every season in my opinion
The lasting power is impressive, also, much better than the more expensive Lost Cherry.

PearlGarden

The perfume is pure heaven. I can describe the smell as pure cherry pit syrup. For some reason, reminds me of soviet time compote, if anyone knows what I mean by that.
Does not carry the 'old smell' of perfumes like Chanel and would recommend to anyone who likes intense, deep and warm scents.

Vanillastorm40

Love, love. Along the lines if Tresor La Nuit, but not as sweet.

pakhomovao

One of my best perfumes. It has everything I'm looking for: lasts all day, smells like heaven, compliments getter. I like to wear it in the office.

I received this in the mail this morning. I sprayed it on my left arm, both sides of my neck, nape, and hair. It smells beautiful, classy, soft, and sweet. I definitely smell the almond, cherry, and patchouli. in the opening, it smells a bit like soda. It is fruity, effervescent and the rose is well blended. It smells divine and intoxicating. The dry down smells very unique. It has a similarity with Nina Ricci's Deci Dela perfume which was already discontinued. It was my favorite perfume. For me, this perfume is very light. You can wear this day and night. I will have to try this in the summer time. Longevity, it doesn't last that long ... I sprayed it around 3:30pm and by 7pm, it became a skin scent. I had to smell my arm in order to really smell the beautiful scent. Its too bad that this is so light. But I am still happy that I bought it because it smells beautiful. You can layer this with La Petite Robe Noire Perfecto. Both are light and doesn't last that long. I enjoy their scent. My favorite between the two is La Petite Robe Noire EDP.

Scentflower

I just got this along with La Petite Robe Noire Intense. I sprayed one on each wrist and have been going back and forth. I agree with everyone saying it smells like cherry coke. Cherry coke with vanilla and patchouli. Normally patchouli does not work with my skin at all. In this case the patchouli is light so it's not dominant in the fragrance. I like it and looking forward to wearing it more. I keep changing my mind on which is my favorite. The intense is a totally different perfume. Idk if its permanent in my collection but I'll enjoy it while I have it. Guerlian perfumes are always so unique it's my favorite house and I love all their perfumes for that unique factor. I'm honestly even thinking about buying more of the flankers.

abderrahim

What a beautiful smell ! fruity and powdery notes.

Men, women, women, men??? As its cousins from the same brand, this is a beautiful creation from Guerlain.

In the niche world, it’s about creativity! all perfumes are definitely unisex. Just enjoy wearing it and don’t give a ****.

Cheers!
