I don't get any tropical vibes from this perfume as people are describing. But what I get is a very beautiful jasmine scent and I'm obsessed. It's creamy, elegant and real. Will not suit anyone under the age of 25 in my opinion though. But highly recommend it and definitely will purchase another bottle myself.

Walking freely among the meadow, the breeze flares out my dress teasefully. I sit down besides the flowers, spreading out my grandmother's fine cutlery that I have brought with me. I'm on a picnic with nature herself on a delightful summer day. Fed by drops of honeysuckle nectar, tucked in by the grass, the warm haze of the sun weighing on my eyelids, I'm slowly lulled by the most peaceful sleep...

thaochipnd

Extremely creamy, beautiful and tender. Like a summer fairy in the tropical forest. I imagine it also has country Vibes, beautiful flowers like Mediterranean summer movies like “Call me by your name”, “Atonement”. I will wear it often this summer, it makes me feel like I am in the middle of beautiful flower fields in the Mediterranean countryside.

Rating: 8/10, the downside is that it sticks a little too closely to my skin and the longevity is not good

LoreinaL

Gorgeous scent, perfect for hot summer nights and warm spring days. The blend is beautiful but the longevity is a major downside. I get no more than 2 hours before I feel the need to reapply. For the price, this isn't worth it.

Igregister

Terracotta Le Parfum Guerlain has hot summer vibes with nice natural sound. It’s gorgeous. It’s a masterpiece.

Raindrop 9012

I bought it today and it smells heavenly 😍this scent fits literally any occasion year round!
absolutely love it!

Saveria

At first spray, a very unpleasant smell appeared, which I was unfortunately unable to define. I could vaguely describe it as "old burnt". Fortunately, it faded away pretty quickly.

However, the perfume has not become extraordinary. I mainly smell ylang-ylang, tiare flower and vanilla. In short, a smell of sunscreen oil/lotion; really not what I'm looking for when I buy a perfume at such a price.

I don't think it resembles the powder from which it takes its name at all, at least not in the evolution, and I wonder if the nasty opening wasn't an attempt to get closer to it ; if so, it's a total failure.

In the end, it remains a nice summer perfume but very far from being transcendent and I think you can easily find an equivalent for much less money.

No staying power and no sillage.

Classy uplifting sunny white flower scent, love this! As a summer person, this is going to be my newest signature scent. Love the light woody background, the jasmin sophistication and the coconut vibrancy too much. Pure vibrant sophistication

The Scentimentalist

Intoxicating white tropical bouquet. Perfect for summer and an instant mood lifter in the winter, for anytime actually. I love this way more than Soleil Blanc.

I wanted this for years but it wasn't available anywhere except from the resellers who tripled the price, as there were discontinuation rumors. I never even got to sample it, I wrote off the chance of me ever snagging a bottle. Fast forward a few years later and I finally got a bottle! According to the batch code, my bottle is from 2014 and smells heavenly. I was a bit surprised, though, as the scent is definitely *very* familiar... I love white florals and have been sampling everything I come across for many years. I would say there are many newer perfumes that have tried to copy this scent. The closest smelling perfume I've found to this is Gucci Bloom. The second closest is a perfume I own called Patio by Botanicae (more popular in europe, available on 50ml.com and some other euro import perfume shops). This is a million times better than Bloom, IMO. I bought a FB of Bloom years ago, tried it 2-3 times, and gleefully resold it. I wanted tuberose from Bloom, I never got any. It was a synthetic faux powder lily scent through and through. It was nothing more than an overly blended to the point that you cannot distinguish notes "sheer" ultra light misty perfume that disappeared on my skin after 30 min, maybe an hour max. I never had these performance issues with any Bloom smell-alike type of scent =. Terracotta opens a touch indolic and "vintagey", rapidly dries down and morphs into an ultra luxe high quality version of Bloom, then dries down to a more tuberose dominant monoi scent, that still reminds me of Bloom but oh so much better. Absolutely love this. I own a couple of similar scents, and don't tell them, but once I finish those I will be replacing them with Terracotta. A forever staple in my collection as long as they don't discontinue it!

Blossomlove

The vacation scent I didn't know I needed! If any of the bottles need updating, it's this one. I slept through it because of the packaging. I thought it was a scent from the 70's or 80's and I am not a fan of many scents from those decades.

Anniemal

This is a suncreen smell on me. I like the floral in it and it smells to me like a hot summer day. This projects and lasts on me. However, it does give me a headache. I think the sunscreen smell almost verges in chemically to me and with the amount of projection I just can’t wear this for a long time.

sv7518

I think this perfume is similar with Happy Chopard Bigaradia. The opening and sweetness is very similar. It’s not really office/work friendly, but if you want you need to spray less. I wouldn’t buy both of them again.

jbaby283

This is such a high-heat summer scent. I can't imagine wearing this in any other season. Permanent notes are the tiare, ylang-ylang and jasmine, all blends together. It's a bit indolic, certainly balmy and very vintage. It does have this classy, timeless vibe. I don't think many people under 30s will like it though. Took me a while to like it as well. There is a dash of the creamy coconut, but I wish it was more coconuty. It would have been so perfect if that was the case.

Linear. Not ground-breaking by any means but it's nice. I'm surprised that people complain about the longevity because this lasts all day on me with moderate projection. Kind of reminds me of Chloe Nomade Eau de Naturelle, but less sweet and less balmy. I like the Chloe one more, it smells more modern. But Terracotta is better when there's a heat wave outside, since it's less sweet.

medusa666

Beautiful scent of jasmine and Tiare flowers which at the end all the note blends smell of gardenia. Unfortunately, the longevity is so weak, money would be simply wasted on this fragrance. Unless reformulated..

Anamandy

This no longer smells the same as the bottle I purchased in 2019 which I gave to my sister. Over the Labor Day weekend, my sister wore it and my girlfriend fell in love with it. My friend ordered a bottle online and is so disappointed with what she received. It is much weaker and not as rich as it was before, and even the color is much lighter. It no longer has any silage and turned into a skin scent very fast, despite heavy spraying. The original bottle smelled like the notes listed. This smells like a sweet tuberose scent with a touch of tiare. While it still smells nice it is nowhere near as beautiful as it once was.
For a while there, this was not available anywhere. Rumors abounded that this fragrance had been discontinued. Maybe production was stopped because materials couldn't be sourced, a common complaint for a lot of businesses since Covid. Whatever the reason, after a long while production was resumed. But it seems from that time to this, the formula had been changed. The batch code dates this current bottle to 2023 and it is 7 months old. Hopefully, my friend's bottle just needs time to mature, but something tells me that might not make a difference if the formula is no longer the same.
For those who never smelled this perfume before, you won't be missing anything as it is still very pretty so it shouldn't disappoint. Just don't go by reviews that describe this as a good performer, because it no longer is. For those who already own this perfume and are planning on buying another bottle in the future, it might be a good idea to try what is selling now before you rebuy, so you're not as disappointed as my friend is now.

ScentWayne

I love this so much I bought a back up bottle, it lush thick and creamy, I get Tuberose vibes, how ?
I don’t know. Highly recommended.

myrrheille

Creamy tropical white flower BOMB! Amazing performance in hot weather. The jasmine used in this though gives this a mature vibe and would not recommend more than 2 sprays. 8/10

Smeraldina77

Subtle, elegant, not-too-much tropical, lovely and classy scent. What else to say? If you like this kind of fragrances, you must have it!

ShowMustGoOn

Just got it as a birthday gift from Paris duty free. I really wanted it and couldn't find it in the US. Great scent! Lots of Ylang-Ylang and Jasmine, so it has that more of a classic/traditional feminine fragrance vibe. If you don't like these notes, you will not like this perfume. It is not close to any of the 'beach scents' like TF Soleil Blanc of EL Hibiscus Palm, MM Beach Walk. This actually doesn't strike me as a beach scent. It is beautiful nevertheless. Very grown, mature but not old fashioned if this makes sense. Not to my nose at least.

Amv10

A perfume on it’s own even if we may tend to think of it as a summer tan lotion extension. It’s association with the Terracotta sun powder is of course the culprit here and if it had a different name it would stand on its own in the Guerlain line. It is a very beautiful jasmine ylang composition and for those looking out for jasmine fragrances do look at this one also, this is definitely not a coconut tiare tan oil fragrance. It is jasmine dominating and probably the most jasmine based Guerlain, for those looking for one (except maybe the recent Jasmin Bonheur that I did not try yet).

franxx64

i had really high hopes for this and ordered a sample online. unfortunately, my nose can't smell most of the vanilla and coconut. only a slight amount of the coconut is picked up by me, which is overpowered greatly by the white florals. while it is a pleasant smell still, it is not what i was expecting. there is an almost metallic smell detected on me when i spray it on myself. it does feel very nostalgic, i have definitely smelt it somewhere before. i also definitely understand the beachy and suncream vibe. overall, if you like white florals, you will probably be able to appreciate this scent more than me.

ava96

I went to the opera last night. Not that this perfume was the most perfect choice, but I had worn it during the day and I didn´t want to mix.
Throughout the opera performance I kept getting wafts of perfume and I kept thinking ¨Wow, I need to find out who´s wearing this, it´s so nice!¨. Well, it turned out it was my perfume, but it smelled really really different in the hall than it did throughout the day.
It smells like sunscreen, but high-end. I am glad I have a sample to try.

OlgaOT

I’m trying to justify buying a bottle of Terracotta when I already have Serge Lutens Datura Noir (which I love more but can’t stop thinking about Terracotta either).

If compared to Datura Noir, Terracotta is less creamy, more sweet and has a much warmer feel to it. Smells more artificial too but in this case I don’t see it as a disadvantage! Also that hint of smell of your skin getting tanned — yum! Maybe I just need a holiday to justify this purchase! :)

UPD: changed my mind. A wrist-to-wrist test next to SL Datura Noir and the latter always wins my heart. But for someone who isn't obsessed with Serge Lutens, Terracotta would be a beautiful choice I'm sure.

Guerlainade

Not "just a sunscreen scent." Creamy, light & attractive. Spray in your hair & on your scarf/sarong for a nice duration & beautiful atmosphere. Never overpowering in hot & humid weather, even if you reapply.

Also, the 30-year anniversary edition has an esp. lovely bottle. Basically, what the Girl from Ipanema would wear.

Recommend.

@craytrans there is no EDP of this, only EDT

Craytrans

does anyone know if this is the EDT or EDP i cant only find EDT

Night of April

Yeah.. okay. This is underwhelmingly not-longlasting scent. You spray this and after an hour it has desappeared. I spray this at home because of that. It smells fine, I like it but I expected more for the price. It is nothing groundbreaking, it is nice but don't expect anything special. I am a little bit disappointed but the bottle is cute, I guess?

HannahRosesAreRed

Guerlain needs to bring this back and make it a staple for their brand. Terracotta is abcolutely delightful—a cheerful tropical blend of sweet, airy and banana-ish tiare flower, ylang-ylang and coconut. Even though coconut is listed as an opening note, the scent lingers into the drydown, which is a good thing, as the vanilla-musk combo can be too sweet and predictable. The white florals aren’t too overpowering, either, though they make up the backbone of the fragrance alongside the coconut and tiare. I can even smell a little frangipani or Hawaiian wedding flower, or perhaps the leis my friends gave me when I visited them in Hawaii. The result is a warm, inviting, luscious and nostalgic scent, slightly creamy and a little lactonic.

I place this in the niche “sunscreen perfume” category, though this is a major frontrunner. It’s perfect for date nights, days with friends, or anytime you just want to transport yourself to a tropical jungle, the beach, the ocean-view bar, or anywhere that warm and tropical flowers bloom. It’s a little more formal than certain other coconut fragrances made for daytime playtime, though this works just as well for that.

By far the best EDT I have ever used—the sillage and longevity is on par with most perfumes. This is my first Guerlain ever, and now I understand why this brand is an apex predator in perfumery. I may have to get a backup bottle because I will be reaching for this quite often in the SoCal sun.

3 comments down by ‘Jade-Ange D’ is exactly what I smell.
The bergamot, orange blossom & musk are the notes I don’t catch at all.
It’s a coconut-tiare, turns to yylang, turns to creamy round soft cozy vanilla.
I do not get powdery from this. I do get slightly mature vibes from the cozy vanilla floral.

Compared to BEACHWALK, This is more creamy yellow floral AND more of a cozy vanilla. Beachwalk is salty, Terracotta is not

Compared to Aerin HIBISCUS PALM, this is less fresh, and less spicy (terracotta is not spicy at all to me), but they have same amount of coconut and floral to my nose. Again, Terracotta more creamy floral.

Soleil Blanc EDP also same fam, with Terracotta being slightly more creamy floral, but these 2 are more close than with the other 2, for me . Terracotta having more floral weight than Soleil Blanc. But the level of smoothness is there.

I kept seeing reviews and comparisons saying that Aerin Hibiscus Palm was the more modern version of Terracotta and I’d have to agree with that. The ginger note & the palm note add the spice and fresh to this scent profile, and the less prominent vanilla gives HP more energy, less coziness.
HOWEVER, when I wear one on each arm (AERIN & GUERLAIN) and sniff throughout the day, I have to sniff Aerin kind of shallow, if I sniff Aerin too close and too deeply the ginger note stings up in my sinus a bit and I don’t enjoy that feeling, so I don’t go too deep with it. But I BREATHE in Terracotta, huff it in and it’s dreamy and creamy!
So in conclusion I enjoy them all very very much, all 4 are FBW for me. Guerlain Terracotta is the safer cozier creamy floral one, and Hibiscus Palm Aerin is the fresher colder spicier one. I think Soleil Blanc is becoming my favorite one. But between these 3, only talking small differences in balance, not full on differences.
If you are obsessed with this family of perfume, you’ll want them all like I did. They are definitely way different enough for me to need all 3 (I could skip beachwalk now that I found the other 3)

Terracotta fits literally any occasion year round. I don’t think any other beach fragrances can do that for me. Maybe soleil Blanc..,
But Terracotta is a masterpiece! I absolutely love it!

Dcarlo

One of the best and most beach realistic fragrances ever smelled.
A deliciously wrapping coconut milk that brings the aromas of white flowers from the mangrove.
Tiare flower, some frangipani although it is not on the list, gardenias also not listed but you can’t deny they are there.
Then a very seductive but soft vanilla puts the last touch of an extraordinary day at a tropical paradise.
Totally feminine but I don’t care. Terracotta makes your heart smile and feel full of joy and optimism, so why missing such an enchanting thing?
I see the resemblance to Monoi by Yves Rocher, but this one pure perfection and class with it’s dancing notes coming and going.
I would layer this with Tiare Intense by Montale that has a slight animalic note making it the perfect complement for the evening. However, Montale is more sweet and less dreamy than Terracotta.
A must for tropical beach lovers and those who miss the summer time.

Ulusia

I blind bought it, only on the basis of my Guerlain Terracotta bronzer smell and fragrantica reviews. I give it extra points for beautiful bottle - Guerlain has the most spectacular bottles on the market.
It will be great beach scent. So far I use it for morning breakfasts, while wearing this scent I feel like being oiled with luxurious tiare and orange blossom oil.
Great option if you want a change from cold lemon scents during summer.

Jade-Ange D

Your most perfect niche quality creamy coconut dream!!!

Guerlain being an iconic fragrance house is no stranger to exceptional scents such as Terracotta.
If you want a perfume that you can wear all year round, but that is absolutely perfect for summer, this is a splendid pick.

It is creamy with a nice rich Coconut note, then closely followed by the tropical and also creamy aspect of the Tiare flower, then the creaminess never seems to stop, you get a nice Jasmine and a creamy Vanilla, embellished by the most tropical Ylang-Ylang.
The less present notes to my nose are the Bergamot, Musk and Orange Blossom. Even if I can figure them out if I take time while analysing the scent.

It is a wonderful discovery for me, I want to give this a 10/10 without hesitation, I just wish I discovered it sooner !!

xsxcstarx

Judging by the notes I thought this would be amazing, finally got to try this in store & was left a little disappointed. Starts off with an intense powdery / solar smell, I didn't get any coconut. First hit smells of a middle aged woman who has a bit of money.

As it dries down the coconut does come through which is lovely but doesn't hit hard enough for me, I was thinking it would be a big creamy bomb of coconut & tiare but that background powder doesnt disappear which lets it down for me, glad I tested this - nice perfume but nothing special, it does have great lasting power which is a plus!

Shahrzaad

This needs to be tried on your skin, and only in summer. Cold weather doesn’t do justice to this beauty. Boyfriend’s favorite on me.

mrburak

This one EXACTLY smells like Dior Bronze - Bronzing oil line. Pure jasmine, salty hair, oily body, and sand...
Just try, seriously. -That's why it reminds me of good old summer days :)

D4phn3

Or des sables by Adopt is really close to for a fraction of the price... Sadly not listed on Fragrantica..

Xela_529

This is beautiful, a true summer classic. It amazes me how Terracotta still maintains the light and “fairy-like” Guerlain DNA, despite it being a summer hitter with heavy notes like tiare & coconut. This is truly something special.

alumet

wish it smelled exactly like the bronzer, but it doesn't to me.

caprilyic

i have tried so hard to like this one but i find it sickening. it won't leave me alone. feels like it is stalking me, haunting me with malicious intent

Gourmila

It smells like a young woman with old money cruising a luxury yacht.

Kisaderosa

Terracotta is super similar to lys soleia, probably the closest thing I've smelled so far. Love it tremendously, although it isn't lys soleia. Lys soleia is a bit brighter, sunnier, and the creaminess of the palm in it works wonderfully. Terracotta is missing the palm leaf for me, but it is a lovely, summery, creamy, gorgeous scent. I can't wait to buy a full one.

baraninka1987

More of the creamy floral than a tropical scent. I don’t normally enjoy scents that are too floral but the creaminess of terracota is kind of intoxicating 😵💫 ps. this is exactly how posh public toilets in Hong Kong shopping centres smell like! 😂 👌🏻 still love it …😅 nothing like a British toilets so still very wearable 😅

Dina France

90% ylang-ylang. 10% of dirt /earth, spices with vanilla. I do not get coconut, it's suppressed by heavy notes. Mature lady like.

DinaFrance

nanaa_from_ghana

I like it, but definitely not enough for a full bottle. I’m glad I only got a decant of this.

Terracotta smells (to me) like LUSH’s Lust, which is another white floral-sweet-vanilla combo. Terracotta is more refined and well-blended, and it also has a summer touch to it with the tiare and coconut. Although, I mostly get jasmine and ylang-ylang, which is why it reminds me so much it Lust. It’s nice, but highly unoriginal and sooooo refined to the point of being boring to me. Jasmine is my favorite flower / floral note, but here, it’s just been made too fresh and clean. It’s very much giving “crowd pleaser” and there’s nothing wrong with it, but again, I’m a bit bored. The performance also doesn’t wow me. I barely get any sillage from it. I haven’t tested the longevity, but I think it’s something that’s going to need heat to perform better.

On the other hand, Lust a big, stinky, very indolic jasmine flower, with ylang-ylang, sandalwood, and vanilla. It’s a very sexy, carnal fragrance that wouldn’t be appropriate to wear on many occasions because (to me at least), it’s something you wear when you want to be naughty. It also somehow manages to be slightly clean smelling, and kind of takes you on a rollercoaster. It’s very crudely blended, but I think it really adds to the beauty of the fragrance.

I like to think of Terracotta and Lust as twins with very different personalities, but I definitely prefer Lust.

This is a safe blind buy if you like a lot of these notes, but it’s not something I’ll be adding to my collection.

Glory Gbt

It was nice for the 15 minutes it lasted. All I could smell was tiare flowers and jasmine.

mybabyjenna

I had such high hopes for this one. Should I believe it may come to life with Summer and heat? Lol

Tamelimul

I feel like I have gotten pretty good with blind buys, but this one took me by surprise when it smelled so familiar, but not like I expected.. I have(and love) Aerin Hibiscus Palm and I thought this would be somewhat similar but hold its own.. to me, it definitely does not. I wore Hibiscus Palm all last summer & it felt sophisticated enough for me in my mid-30’s but also very summery, girly & fun. This one, well it reminds me of perfumes my mom wore when I was a kid. I’m picturing her, dressed in her Sunday best and wanting to impress.. she would definitely love this. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is for an “older” crowd, but saying it’s more my moms taste, than mine personally. It is very pretty, although I don’t feel very vacation-y when wearing it and I do find it a tad screechy in the first hour before it settles down. I get mostly jasmine from beginning to end— but less harsh & much sweeter in the dry down. I was hoping for a bit of the beachy/suntan lotion vibe, but I didn’t get that at all.

gmandhari

I was looking for the coconut smell but I didn't smell it. I only noticed the sugary bomb of sweet jasmine and frangipani without the fresh floral smell. It was not a good experience for me, it only made me nauseous. After it dried down, there was a hint of vanilla but still mostly jasmine and frangipani.

I live in Bali, Indonesia, it's a hot and tropical place. Jasmine is mostly used in cemeteries and frangipani mostly used in a Balinese Hindu ceremony. They wear the fresh flower or use it as a confetti (which smells fresher and better than this).

My guess is if you wear this perfume here, people will wonder if you just came from the cemetery or from a religious ceremony. No one will stop to give you a second glance. I can see why a lot of people say it reminds them of a tropical place. Perhaps wear this where the combination of jasmine and frangipani is rare and exotic.

DesertFlower2021

The OG of all tropical scents. Just the besr.

Linnsim

This is a staple in the summerscent collection. I’ve tried many «sunscreeny» scents , and of all of them (Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco, Tom Ford Soleil Blanc, JHAG Vanilla Vibes, Coco Vanille, etc) Terracotta is IMO by far the best of them all, and the one that really smells high quality, refined and not too synthetic.

Love the jasmine, the coconut and the yellow floral in it. Smells luxurious and put together. Like I said, a staple in my collection, and one of the best summerscents I’ve tried.

RottigrlNYC

The coconut note ruins it for me. I wish I didn’t blind buy this one. There’s a dirty jasmine note too. This is not for me. I don’t like when jasmine takes over. This smells like a jasmine coconut perfume. I don’t get any other notes.

SaucyAudy

My first impression when I sprayed it: my glittery terracotta loose powder just fell on me. I'm getting the smell of my bathroom while I'm getting ready and putting makeup on during summer days. It also reminds me of tiare flower/monoï oil smells, which are exclusively for summer or sunny days.

An extensive and élégant bottle for a decent price. Nevertheless, I got disgusted by the overwhelming white floral scent at some point and ended up giving the bottle to my mom.
What's more, the performance isn't good. I can spray the perfume 10 times and the smell will be gone an hour later.

If you want to smell like a Hawaiian queen for an hour, off you go. If you expect compliments from others at the beach club, forget about it.

Riri33

Classy smelling summer fragrance. It has a serious mature character. It’s more natural and expensive smelling. It stands out as it doesn’t smell like sunscreen but it says you are on a holiday or you love the summertime. Great perfume to spray after you tan and are about to go to a dinner date.

solarpunk

drinking jasmine tea with coconut milk, with a tropical garden in the background. this is sweet, light and summery. very wearable and crowd pleasing. i saw someone below say it smells like white rice - while i smell more than that, i definitely get like a coconutty jasmine rice, plus white florals and a hint of citrus. afaik this is discontinued which is pretty sad. this has to be one of the only white floral frags i love, much more than kayali deja vu which is strong, heady and tuberosey.

JoCro61

I love this but the name is confusing because it sounds like it would be edp but it is edt. So it is not long lasting, maybe 3 hours but I love it. Reminds me a tiny bit of bronze goddess mixed with carnal flower. Very nice and bright . Vacation.

Air of Grace

Bought a 10 ml decant sample based on the notes and reviews .

I had just fallen in love with Keiko Mecheri’s Datura Blanche and it opened my eyes or shall we say , my nose to another olfactory group from my preferred green , white florals.

I wanted to broaden my olfactory journey with white florals mixed in with vanilla and Guerlain’s Terracotta came up as a recommendation in Fragrantica .

I have to say, I am rather disappointed . I just realised I am not a fan of coconut and Tiare flowers . The opening is rather amberish/ animalic on my skin and stays that way for hours . Then , it turns into a sweet , coconut Tiare flowers with Jasmine in the background .

The dry down does smell of coconut sunscreen which is not complimentary.

I did like the coconut , vanilla combination with Serge Luten’s Datura Noir but this reminds me a lot of Theodoros Kalotinis’ Jasmine of Athens with its potent Jasmine and creamy Tiare flowers mix.

I might try the sample again tomorrow or when the weather is hotter to see if the notes work better on my skin .
Update : tried again and disliked it even more . Can’t get over the amberish/ animalic opening notes . Way too screechy !

It’s a No and I’m glad I didn’t blind buy a bottle .

Brandon LeBon

I love this scent on a woman on any hot summer night-out.
it´s simply a kind of magic.

You must love white florals to enjoy this tropical beauty. Sweet but not juvenile, floral, and somewhat musky. A classier Yves Rocher Monoi Eau de Vahinés.

One of my all time favourites, by the way.

Diablomoni

Vintage version of Utopia Vanilla Coco by Kayali

toosimilar

On me it's milky tiare with a bit of coconut :D
You can simply buy Yves Rocher - Monoi, same effect ;)

CelinaPerfuma

Reminds me of lying in bed at night during the summer, young and madly in love, with the scent of gardenia and jasmine being gently wafted into the room on a welcome breeze. Such memories. This is just a beautiful perfume. I can't wait for a hot summer night, to wear this and lie awake in a dark room, remembering.

AquaBaby5

There are similarities between this and Lys 41 by Le Labo but I think I prefer Lys. There is a bit more thickness to this scent, which makes it somewhat cloying to me. I have to be careful with my white and yellow florals because although I love most of them initially, they don’t always settle on my skin into a love. Not sure why today it’s settling thicker on my skin, but not sure I’ll reach for this again for a while. Note, it is end of summer and still in the 80s in Texas.

Imagine in a hot summer evening you are lying on the golden sands of a beach of a luxurious hotel, and while you are enjoying the sunset and the ocean wave’s breeze and drinking a coconut cocktail, your lungs gets filled with the aroma of sweet and white flowers. This perfume is very delicate, happy and lively, it is also ideal for romantic summer dates, and in my opinion, since it does not have that crazy performance, it becomes more suitable for a calm and relax atmosphere. For some, it may remind of suntan lotion, but for me, it has a very pleasant, feminine, sexy and expensive smelling. (Of course, many gentlemen can also enjoy these kinds of fragrances). Did I tell you about its beautiful bottle? Even by watching it, you will realize that you have the sunshine in your bottle!

Naqwalan

Where do I even start with this magnificent perfume? I don't primarily associate it with the beach. Instead, it reminds me of my grandmother's jasmine garden in the summer. I would spend hours picking the jasmine with her under the sun, and Terracotta instantly transports me back to those days. This is a strongly solar scent that opens warm and creamy and stays that way throughout. The white flowers blend beautifully with the ylang-ylang and coconut to give the most comforting Mediterranean-Tropical concoction I have ever smelled.

zsofsta

meh, after reading so many reviews about how great this perfume was i blind bought it and honestly just wasn’t so blown away as i thought i would be. i wear it and is it nice i just can’t say i’ve fallen in love the way i thought i would after reading the reviews. i love the smell of coconut but honestly i didn’t get any from this scent, in fact it smells almost exactly like my nuxe dry oil. the silliage isn’t great but i will give it bonus points for being an all year round scent as it’s very close to the skin and is like a warm enhancement to your natural scent. it’s nice… just not wow, summer!

Frangipanilove

I am very fond of tiare so wanted to make sure I get tiare not Thierry (ha ha haa). Yes, its tiare, with some vanilla-coconut-ylang in the background. Typical of the post family era Guerlains, not much development the scent sadly stays more or less the same from the getgo. Lovely beachy summery scent no surprises nothing groundbreaking but yes you get tiare and yes you get a hot summers day on a sandy beach. Nothing like the original Voile d’Ete though.

Nounou9

I really love Guerlain house & Thierry Wasser & i love this one. It's not sweet on me it's floral mostly Jasmin & tiare but no coconut at all. If you like the monoi oils with its original scent of tiare, you will love this one...as for the longevity it's not great unfortunately for a perfume from Guerlain. It's not similar to l'erbolario, it's more refined and well blended. i get more vanilla in the dry down but never coconut at any stage. It would be amazing if you layer a straight coconut scent under. I once layered it with a body cream that's is a dupe for baccarat rouge & OMG the result was delicious & rich.

vbs221

This is super underrated. I got this for my wife since she loves coconut scents. She absolutely loves it. I also happen to adore white and yellow florals, so really, it’s one of my favorite fragrances to smell on her, up there with Hypnotic Poison (if not even beating Hypnotic Poison).

BoryanaB

Coconut, vanilla and most of all ...dandelion.

Jloveparfum

I love the Guerlain house! Terracotta is another magnificent creation from Thierry Wasser. This is a Solar perfume, with floral notes that are not always solar but in this case it contains the sophisticated note of Ylang-ylang as well as jasmine sambac, orange blossom and the distinguished tiare flower.

It is definitely not a fragrance that opens in a sparkling and cheerful way. Terracotta opens warm, representing the Sun that warms the skin. (It was created in 2014 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of terracotta makeup, which gave them a tan color on their faces)
It is not a perfume only to be used in summer, this is a very warm and sweet fragrance that I will also enjoy in autumn-winter since the opening is not entirely fresh, I can barely detect the citrus part of the bergamot but I can detect the florality of the same, accompanied by an exquisite creaminess of coconut and tiare flower (similar to Frangipani) which is also a creamy flower and combined with Ylang-ylang leave this fragrance even more sunny and warm. The vanilla and musk also make this perfume wonderful on my skin giving me the feeling of walking in the Dunes on a sunny day. Or inside an elegant and luxurious hotel in tropical areas.
This fragrance does not represent a day at the beach, salty notes and sea sand. It is not that type of Solar. Terracotta provides more warmth. It is a perfume that wraps you in a warm embrace of the Sun.
The substantivity on my skin is excellent, it reaches 7/8 hours with moderate to slight diffusion.

It's just lovely. A soft, delicate, feminine and very elegant perfume.

luxurydiva

This perfume caught my attention because I was expecting it to smell similar to the the earlier/classic Terracotta Bronzing Powders from the Guerlain make-up line. I have always loved the captivating smell of the vintage Terracotta powders and this perfume definitely has that original Guerlain 'Terracotta-smell'.

The only minus is that I personally find the coconut to be a little too generic to my liking.

By absolute no means is Terracotta Le Parfum suitable for winter or amorous nights, unless it's a late warm summer night. This perfume is simply put pure summer bliss and is wonderful to bring in your beach bag and to be spritzed by the poolside.

Catmo

This smells VERY similar to Kayali Utopia. Really the only difference is this one is a bit sharper maybe from more jasmine in here than what’s in Utopia. I love it because I love that creamy floral coconut vibe but not sure I need both.
The dry down of this is really gorgeous though. White florals, vanilla and some coconut- which I love.

strawberrystar

I love this! It has a faint suntan vibe in the beginning, but it becomes mostly floral after a short while. Beautiful creamy and sunny florals. I will definitely wear this a lot this summer.

AmBo

This one has grown on me. It wasn't a love at first sniff, as it smelled a little too mature, but I love a beachy coconutty summer scent. It's a pretty Guerlain summer scent, but my all-time love is Idylle Love Blossom, followed by Mon Guerlain Sensuelle. My dream Parisian stop would be to spend hours sniffing all the lovely concoctions in the Guerlain shop.

Sslara

I’m looking to swap either my Chanel mademoiselle or Chance eau tendre for terracotta. The mademoiselle is full; only used it twice, so preferably the Guerlain terracotta would also be full/ barely used

Franci90

I'd like to update my previous review after about one month of extensive test of this fragrance. My opinion and thoughts haven't changed (so if you are interested, search my previous review), but now I have a clearer idea about the performances. Let me say that I am a bit shocked reading many complaints about non existent lingevity. Guys, this little gem lasts 8-9hrs on me. With lasting power I mean that, after this time span, I am still able to detect the smell close of my skin, as well as perceive an occasional waft of the fragrance. That's an impressive longevity for and EDT, IMO. Of course it does not project as strong as in the opening for this whole time; projection drops after 2hr, which is average in my experience. The sillage is also moderate, this is an ethereal fragrance, not a room filling one. A tiare-based fragrance with a strong sillange and a relevant projection is monoi de Thaiti from Helan. After Terracotta, is my favourite 'tropical floreal' fragrance (and I've tried a lot of them). But it is not really a dupe of Terracotta. It is a pure floreal-tiare fragrance (terracotta is a tropical-polite and non indolic jasmine, framed by coconout and hint of tiare). With Helan You give projection and sillage, but also the indolic and sharp aspect of white florals (which is, I assume, the element responsible for the sillage), so maybe it is not a safe fragrance as Terracotta.

kristenkr

Lush, summer florals galore! The all-too-aptly named Terracotta conjures visions of wealth, maturity, serenity: like wandering through the opulent gardens of a sprawling Italian villa. Obscenely chic and grandly simplistic, with the intial burst of tiare and jasmine eventually giving way to softest waves of sweet coconut and vanilla-musk (which is definitely where some people are getting the "luxury suntan lotion"). For me, this is not everyday warm weather wear (though it certainly can be used as such)—its effortless glamour will be reserved for either the most special of occasions or (ideally!) holidays abroad.

SilkyWoods

This is the most mature sophisticated, chique and still playful suntan scent. It’s gorgeous and I want to bathe in it.

Poudery

I reviewed this in February and loved the summer golden glow this perfume conjures up. I need to add, that now, in really warm weather, the scent is a bit different. Jasmine and Orange Blossom are a lot more noteable to me now and they blend nicely into Ylang-Ylang, coconut and the strong Tiare scent. Love it both in cold and warm weather, though! It is an outgoing, cheerful and bright perfume, available at a good price!

PrfumLover

Blind bought this and it just came in the mail. It smells exactly like Jasmine tea to me. Thankfully Jasmine is my favorite tea to sip. Lovely scent!

AutumnJewel

Note For Myself: Smells just like R&B hair cream from lush cosmetics (I love that scent). Very much so tropical floral vibes… the only note I don’t get is bergamot . I tend to go back and forth with my interest in perfumes but my ratings are accurate.

A Little Perfume

This is very floral-forward on me. The jasmine, tiare and ylang ylang are the stars of the show, creating a gorgeous summery mix of white and yellow florals with a touch of vanilla and musk in the base. The coconut must be so far in the background that I don't pick it up at all.

Terracotta has a wonderful summer vacation feeling, but it's more like the garden of a luxurious tropical resort or perhaps the inside of a fancy hotel in a tropical location rather than anything that screams "beach". I get zero sunscreen vibes (which I do like, but it's not something I find here). Terracotta is elegant, refined, ladylike. There's a maturity to this scent, which makes me feel confident and at-ease when I wear it.

Perfect for fancy holidays, summer date nights and warm-weather weddings or other dressy summer events.

Franci90

Another stunning composition by Guerlain. Terracotta on my skin differs for many other fragrance with a tiare/suntan lotion/tropical beach vibe (including many listed in 'reminds me section') for being, at least in my skin, jasmine center. A bright, sunny, non indolic jasmine I can smell during the hot summer nights at seaside. The other notes are the perfect background for the beautiful jasmine. Tiare gives a tropical vibe, pairing heavenly with jasmine. Coconut, which I often feel overpowering and too much sweet, is so well balanced, adding the perfect touch if sweetness. Ylang is not so prominent, sometime I think I can smell a faint trace of it, but as a smell transported for a moment by a gust of wind. I don't detect at all orange flowers instead. Beautiful, non pastry-like vanilla shines in the drydown. This us the perfection. The apex of the tiare fragrances.

ThunderHeart

The first time I smelled this it brought me to a hot evening at poolside in Hawaii. I was hit with several different scents at once, it is sultry, sexy and one of my favorites.
I learned that when I want to test perfume I will only try 2 at the same time. Trying more than is too much overload. I never use the bleached paper, it never truly gives you the proper scent. If you want the perfect test, use inside your elbow. After about 45 minutes you will get the true scent with your body chemistry. I usually get something to eat. If the perfume doesn’t work out there is always another day. I use both elbows. Doing that has also showed me which perfumes are great for layering🦋.
Happy perfume shopping💕

Kaylovely

Can anyone compare this to Oud Jaune Intense?

mbalbertini

This is beautiful. I went on a spring trip to Spain last month, there was a street next to our hotel, full of tall, blooming trees. I spent the whole trip trying to find what exact flower was that, because it smelled like perfection to me.
This perfume smells like that street: jasmine. No "luxurious sunscreen", no coconut, not even bergamot. To me, this is how a truly natural jasmine smells like. Really delicate, for when I just want to feel happy, relaxed and comforted.

edit:
after a year of having this perfume, I have some notes. The opening is a bit scary, as it is really intense and overwhelming to me. So I spray it around 1h before leaving the house. I still find it beautiful, but a bit too sweet for my taste. It can get cloying. So I'm trying to find some musky scents to layer with it and see if it helps.

I tried Hibiscus Palm and if I didn't have Terracotta, I would have gone with Aerin's perfume instead. It's fresher and less sweet, but still shares a DNA there, so a "next-level" Terracotta to me. Of course, it's a more expensive perfume anyways.

If you have the chance (and the budget) try Hibiscus Palm before purchasing this one to compare. They are similar, same family. But some nuances make a big difference.

ThunderHeart

I have read most of these reviews and so many are of disappointment. I put it on and it is heavenly. Maybe it’s my body chemistry? I love it. If anyone wants to get rid of their Terra Cotta please contact me here. I don’t know if giving my email is allowed. I am very interested in getting a bottle or two from one of you guys than a store😊
Thank you so much!

Ferra_Verto

Tropical suncream, lots of tiare, ylang, coconut, and vanilla, with sweet jasmine and orange blossom accords.
Beachy and beautiful, perfect for spring and summer. Not groundbreaking in the least, but holds it own because it works and works well.
Good sillage, lasts 6+ hrs

DaliFanigma

great scent for summer, but I have to layer it with another perfume.

Q80

Milky sweet, suntan vibes, creamy blend..

Really interesting vibes i am sensing here! i get that milky sweet tan like blend on delicate skin with some hazy woody touch. The tiare, & the coconut are giving the happy sun weather, & i guess i can detect some musk as well.

I've always been seeing this blend online but didn't get the chance to have my nose on it, thankfully i did. Beautiful.

AnaCristian

This is a summer fragrance for a woman that is grown up, elegant and classy. It smells like jasmine, tiare flowers, coconut and orange blossoms, but it's not only that. When I'm wearing this scent I always think of Agatha Christie on her desert journeys, being the chic lover of an archeologist, sleeping during the day in tents, always feeling the warm sand under the feet.
Definitely the name Terracotta suits this scent.

Eylul

I really like the smell. I get a strong jasmine, with a little bit warmth from vanilla I guess. I don’t get coconut at all and that’s fine. Bergamot and orange blossom make things a little more interesting. It stays for a good 2 hours on my skin, after that it becomes a skin scent for 2 hours more maybe and then nothing. In clothes it stays for 5 hours. I think it is a very humble scent in terms of sitting close to the skin. I don’t get tropical vibes but it might smell like scented sunscreens just a little bit in the opening. I would wear it anytime of the year, I don’t think it is only a summer fragrance. Overall, very nice warm jasmine scent which is not overwhelming.

Enrium

Terracotta is a beachy, tropical scent, pleasant and summery, but nothing groundbreaking. The notes are quite predictable - coconut with tropical flowers and some vanilla sweetness. Although it is fairly simple, it is nicely put together and doesn't smell cheap - a nice option for lovers of tropical scents.

Terracotta opens with an immediate burst of tiare flower, kickstarting the tropical white floral accord beautifully. Coconut enhances it, adding an "expensive suncream" quality to Terracotta. The citrus is minimal, but adds a little freshness. As it develops, sweet ylang ylang and fruity orange blossom emerge. Some clean jasmine rounds it out, but ylang ylang reigns supreme. Smooth vanilla amps up the sweetness as it progresses, and it eventually fades to become a musky-vanilla skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is decent.

A decent tropical white floral scent with nice, nuanced sweetness, Terracotta is a beachy summer scent with sophistication. Ageless and pleasant, it is easy-going and wearable. To be paired with a tan. 3.5/5.

Vanillalover100

Very mature. Loads of white florals and zero sweetness. Very bumped.

KamillaNilsen

After just seeing the notes, i blind-bought this. I ended up trying it once, i have never touched it since. I didnt like it

shannfernando

Sprayed just one measly spray on my hand and, wow. I adore this. Do not be fooled by influencers on YouTube calling this a fun summer suntan lotion smell. WRONG. This is not fun like Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess. This is mature, grounded.. Ladylike fun. It’s a summer scent that the richest people wear to a regatta gala. It’s stunning!!!

Reiterating that this is mature ! Not one to be reckoned with and I don’t reccomend blind buying either !!

LadyM

It was March 2020, we went to Cuba for a long desired holiday. It was right before the pandemic outbreak, we barely returned back home. Undoubtedly, Guerlain Terracotta gave me a sweet feeling of coziness and comfort in those moments of bitterness and unceratinity.
Terracotta is truly a tropical creation. I smell coconut, tiare and ylang-ylang. Although, the smell resembles pretty much the manoi oil, I don't recommend a blind buy. It might remind an old lady perfume. I didn't like it at first when I tried it in the store, but then I decided to buy one from second hand. And I am happy I did because whenever I sniff it, it brings beautiful memories of the sunset and Pina Colada on the beaches of Playa Larga or Havana❤️

islandgirlmaranda

I finally got my hands on this renowned perfume! I saw that there was a 30 year anniversary edition released, so I bit the bullet and ordered it from Harrod's in the UK. I'm in the US. After much awaited anticipation I received this today. I am sadly, sadly, underwhelmed. After all I've read about this I thought it would surely blow me away as I love all things white floral, solar, sunny, and warm. However! I will say it does smell good. It's not knock me over delicious, but it is decent. On my skin, it disappears within a couple hours or less. On my shirt it's lasted all day. I have gone nose blind to it already this evening, but some one did hug me after me wearing it all day and they said I smelled amazing and they could detect a sunny floral scent. It's about 65 degrees here today and I was outside a lot, so I'm going to give this a try in warmer summer temps and see if it's a little more robust. For an eau de parfum I really think this should last longer. Also this is a teeny tiny bit like Aerin Hibiscus Palm, but I actually prefer the Aerin for that go to summer bright white floral scent. I also love Tom Ford Soleil Blanc and Bronzed Goddess Eau Fraiche Skinscent. This kinda ranks at the bottom of those for me. I'll update my review next week. I saw we're getting temps in the 80's. Gotta love that island weather. Update coming soon.

Update: I'm still not loving this. I'll probably try and sell it.

irmak_sencan

Jasmine tea is what this smells like to me. I looove it

Poudery

If you've ever used any Monoi Sun Oil you'll have a general idea of what this smells like! Both contain Tiare flower notes. Terracotta is finer and more complex, though - creamy and yes, oily, but not in a bad way. It's rich and smells golden, if that makes any sense to you. Slightly reminiscent of JPG's Fragile, but lighter and it's an absolute summer fragrance to me, although I'd wear it during the cold season as well, if I wanted to bring back some beach memories or just wrap myself in golden goodness. The coconut is definitely there, but it's not overbearing. It melts together with Ylang-Ylang. Jasmin and orange flowers are somewhat more in the back and I don't get any of the bergamot.

I think it could be layered with something powdery - will definitely experiment with that for a bit.

What a beautiful blend. I love Thierry Wasser's creations!

PlayboyBunnyLover

First spray, I’m honestly not a fan of it and I’m highly disappointed considering the rave review from YouTube and on here. It reminds me of a scent I smelled in my past. Maybe some kind of carpet potpourri that came in a satchel you could get at Kirkland Home years ago. I personally don’t get the vanilla, coconut, or orange blossom. I’ll give this one another try in the warmer months, mainly because I can’t send it back since I bought it from outside the US

Update: I ended up giving this to my grandmother because she liked it. To me this smells VERY mature and as I said before like potpourri. This is a scent that I find so offensive and sickly. At first spray I completely hate it but once it develops it does get slightly better but not to the point I’ll want to keep it. I’ve learned from this perfume I’m not a fan of tiare flower

A Fragrant Life

I can’t believe that I haven’t seen anyone else link this to Deja Vu by Kayali. The moment I sprayed it on my skin, my partner insisted it was the Kayali, and I really see what he means. If you add a touch of vintage Tiaré scent to Deja Vu, you get Terracotta.

On my skin the coconut is non-existent, but I get a thick, balmy Tiaré-Ylang-Jasmine blend. Naturally sweet from the flowers and definitely something I see myself wearing in the late Spring and Summer. A really beautiful fragrance and a great price (at least in the UK).

Edit after a few more days of wearing: I definitely get a lot of ginger in the mid and the base, even if it isn’t listed. It’s gorgeous!

Eriksen

Smells divine ❤️ Smells alot like Nuxe Prodigieux le parfum, just a better and more well rounded

Jacquis

Wearing Terracotta in mid summer, 85-100F, high humidity, I get very poor performance. It becomes thick, heavy vanilla/tiare and disappears within 20 mins. However, in fall or spring, 50-65F, I get a much better longevity and lift. The notes suggest a summer perfume but this wears much better in transitional weather, for me.

Katiparfmaniac

I got at first 15 ml travel size. Usually like mostly perfume lovers looked at pyramid and reviews. But for my nose it’s nothing like in pyramid. And I was happy about it. Because I’m not big fan of jasmine. For my nose it smells like soft creamy tuberose and vanilla ice-cream. Beautiful summer scent. Now winter outside definitely will try to wear it and see new perspectives.

gaellebae

I was looking for a summer perfume with ylang ylang and I found this one on the internet. When I saw it also smells like tiare flower, I knew I needed it ! Unfortunately I couldn’t find it in any stores near me so I did something I never do: I blind bought it.

Fortunately for me, I really like the smell ! It reminds me of monoï so this is what I was expecting. The only thing I don’t really like is that maybe the scent is a bit too "heavy" for me… But I love to wear it no matter what

SanjuktaB

I consider Terracotta to be one of the masterpieces of Thierry Wasser . Its a non complex sweet jasmine and vanilla scent but doesnt smell like a cheap sunscreen .Being Indian ,I know this perfume is so fondly regarded by many women in our community as it is such a realistic interpretation of how a jasmine plant would smell on a tropical evening. And this scent is so common in hair oils, garlands, weddings, temples, incense sticks in South Asia . It also has good longevity in this category of perfumes.

OzzyEyes

I purchased this blind a couple of years ago after reading reviews on here. I absolutely love the smell of Jasmine plus the coconut and vanilla highlight summer vibes to me plus I was looking for a hot Summer day/night fragrance... Guerlain do pretty much everything right so I thought I couldn't go wrong! I searched the internet for where to buy it and the only place was Carethy (who I will never shop with again) but I found it for $77AUD a bottle. At first I LOVED this fragrance so much that I purchased a back up thinking it would be my signature Summer scent. But I think it will be years before the bottle is finished because it's so strong that one spray is all you need. I spray it out in front of me and walk into it, I don't even spray it on one wrist and rub together, I think that would be too much. I live in the tropics which this scent is capturing well but that may make this scent extra thick in the humid air, it may wear better in other climates and not feel so strong... It's possibly the perfect evening scent for Summer!

EDIT 2023: I tried this on again the other day, and I still find it strong from the first spray, but I think after about 5 hours it was completely gone, but if I spray it o my clothes it will hang around for a couple of days. I also tested Tom Ford soleil blanc the other day, the scent is pretty much the same as Terracotta but soleil blanc is a skin scent for most of the day and much weaker than terracotta. CONCLUSION: Terracotta is much better value and it's stronger so just take a decant to reapply.

EDIT 2024: Okay so this has been the summer of Terracotta! 😍 I'm no longer spraying like I'm scared to stand out! I'm going in with confidence and spraying 2-3 on each arm, 3 around the neck and a few in my hair and it's DIVINE! I'm even layering it with some coconut oil to really bring the coconut vibes, and I'm getting lots of compliments. I do feel this is a holiday vacation type of scent, great tropical vibes. I live in a subtropical climate near the beach and this totally rocks here, I've actually got 2 back up bottles, I never want to run out of it 🥰 Getting closer to 8 hours now, longer on clothes.

yeah__books

I blind bought this and don’t tend to like florals. This is really light, easy to like and not at all heavy. It might need a lot of spraying but it’s really nice on the whole.

fairymeist

I wanted to blind buy this but some of the reviews scared me, some people said it is similar to Lush Lust and that it has very prominent Indolic note. Well Lush Lust is the most horrendous perfume I have ever smelled and I don’t mean to offend anyone, it is just hideous for me and I was scared it was going to be similar, but since Guerlain is my favourite house I decided to go for it. And I am so glad I got it, it is not as Indolic, it is a very soft and clean jasmine it does not smell like the jasmine from Lust at all!

This is perfect for a vacation, creamy and a bit sweet white flowers, smells very elegant and is not too overpowering.

giri-boni

If you have ever smelt a gardenia flower around 5pm in a hot humid summer day... This is EXACTLY what it smells like. Sweet, milky, sultry... One of the most beautiful scents I have ever known.

MnM

I had this one on my want list forever, I couldn't find it anywhere... But then voila! here it was! I couldn't wait wait :)... But, sadly, it isn't a wow, to me it smells vintage-y :(
I'll keep it in my collection and hope that my feelings towards it changes.

pradalover

I bought this today and let me say this - gorgeous and exactly what I’ve been wanting forever !! Bought two more bottles as back up ❤️

Alexandra.kom

tiare, jasmin, musk!
intense , summery NOT for daily use in the heat, it is a very strong and long lasting perfume, that will cause you headache if you are for hours in the heat!

i prefere wearing it at summer night , projects really well and lasts for hours.
Feminine and classy!

kittymoon

I love this kind of scent, so comforting. It opens up with a fresh burst of Tiare, mingles with all other notes within a few minutes (very typical tropical white floral style), and turns after about 20 min into a very soft and powdery warm, musky skin scent. It really smells like the powder, including the powdery feel. The comparisons listed above I know and have or had a bottle of are fair: Nuxe (is less powdery), Soleil Blanc (is more green), Madonna Truth or Dare (10times more "scratchy" but in essence and drydown similar). I can also add NEXT Sun, although that feels a bit deeper it's still very similar.

Abry_81

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Guerlain bronzing powders, Thierry Wasser created this marvel of fragrance that I had been wanting for a long time, until finally I was able to buy it, I always heard that it had a coconut note that felt quite a lot, I personally I do not feel it almost perhaps a somewhat tropical note because this perfume perfectly reflects the color from which it takes its name.
Terracotta is a jasmine goddess (hyper realistic the jazmin feels from start to finish and dominates the fragrance alongside ylang-ylang) who walks on golden sands in an idyllic resort full of jasmine gardens and Ylang-Ylang trees far away you feel that tropical breeze of coconut palms and a slight sweetness of vanilla.
A perfume that was born as a limited edition but that is here to stay (apparently due to the good reception of the public), perfect to enjoy in the summer because the heat enhances its beauty more, although it can perfectly be used in cool but not very cold climates.
It lasts very well and has a moderate trail but it is present all the time.
Once again the mastery of @thierrywasser at the service of the Guerlain anthological house gives us a perfume worthy of its perfumer legacy.

BudgiePoo

I had a bottle of this back in 2000. I took it to Africa and Portugal with me that year, it was a year of endless summer for me and the scent of this perfume is summer in a bottle! I can really smell the ylang ylang and coconuttyness. I think it reminds me a little bit of that deep brown sun oil Amber Solaire that everyone used to slap on when by the beach in the late 70's and 80's. I love that this liquid has the same glowing amber colour as that retro sun oil! It smells similar to Nuxe original to me. Nuxe is lighter and with added warm sand.

debra0503

This is a bottle of dream come true, it transforms me onto my dream land, in there, everything is pure, bright, innocent, colorful, there is no sadness, no lies.... if only it lasts.... lol, because I know in half an hour, I'm back to reality...
Layer it on top of Kayali Vanilla 28 to amplify it, thank me later

Shellyscents

I bought a tester from eBay without labels besides the front Guerlain logo. However, I have read that the base label is prone to moving around. The first spray was Port-a-potty spray and tuberose. I dont know if it was the ylang ylang or tiare flower, but I eventually smelled lily along with the artificial toilet spray. Lily is a more mature note. After that it got creamy and close to the skin and I love it. If I could find a fragrance that smelled like this drydown, I would buy it. This was my first impression, maybe it will improve in the opening. People around me could smell it but I wanted to stuff my nose into my wrist all day long. It's an intimate scent to me, but to others, it's fairly strong.

Madame deClermont

A really lovely blend. It didn't take me 30 minutes to smell this - the Ylang Ylang and coconut came through right away for me. And it was the Ylang which really differentiates from Soleil Blanc - I think they are complimentary but very different. No copper tone here. I felt like I was sitting on a chaise longe in the sun with a broad hat reading a book while the wafts of the flowers and the beach sand came lilting along at intervals.

Not much of a scent at first. At first spray it is very disappointing and don't get terracotta vibes from this, it's not warm or inviting enough. After about 30 minutes it does warm up on the skin, it sucks it takes more than 15 minutes to experience the goodness. I think I prefer Soleil Blanc because it has stronger sillage, but of course it's a lot more expensive. I can detect the Guerlain signature I also smell in Insolence EDT and EDP but didn't get in Mon Guerlain EDP. We'll see if the almost $29 I paid for a 0.5 oz of this is worth it.

Ok so after letting it sit I am digging this a lot more, but it sucks you have to wait for it to smell like much of anything. This was probably my 3rd or 4th time trying it. So I've updated my review a little to reflect that I can detect terracotta vibes now.

I've edited my review a couple of times. I think I prefer Terracotta to my Bronze Goddess now. It projects more and has a nicer scent. I think maybe BG has more of those sunscreen vibes, but there's also something off about it that never seems to mellow out, perhaps it's that there's too much lemon because it's too sour and there's not enough coconut to balance it out. Maybe it smells like stale sunscreen.

corgi02

I smell gardenia though it's not listed. and mild coconut and other things I can't identify. It's a milder coconut than Aerin Hibiscus Palm which I tried also. I was looking for mild coconut and this would be it if I was looking for a slightly beachy scent heavy on the gardenia. Aerin was also gardenia heavy to my nose and I hate gardenia. The dry down of this smelled woody and powdery which I like but that was too faint and only if I put my nose to my wrist. This isn't a scrubber but I just don't like gardenia and coconut though I kept trying with the coconut. I guess I'm just not a suntan lotion perfume person myself. This one is very mild and if you're looking for something that doesn't scream out suntan lotion, but merely whispers it, this might be it.

Swedelish

One day I had my 5 year old niece over. I was wearing Terracotta when I plopped down on the couch next to her. She said, "why does it smell like the beach in here?" LOL I could have kissed her for saying that. Children have the best noses.

Natbo88

I absolutely love this perfume. I had read many reviews and was looking for something that was a great summer scent. There is something about the smell that I find intoxicating to me. My main problem is it has no lasting power whatsoever and with Guerlain I was expecting more.
I just recently purchased Dolce Garden and was really worried that it was not for me because I don’t consider myself much of a floral person, although to be honest, I have a broad range of perfume interest. On first spray when it arrived, it completely reminded me of this Geurlain terracotta perfume. I’m not sure what specific notes my skin is pulling but for whatever reason I find them very similar. Although both include Ylang ylang and orange blossom flower, in my mind I’m imagining it is the frangipani in one and the tiara flower and the other. Would that be possible? I am quite pleased and I’m hoping that Dolce Garden will have longer lasting power. I like my perfumes to have Strong silliage and last! If anyone has the perfect dupe for Terracotta with a promise of longer lasting power please let me know.

Ensconce-in-Bloom

When you first meet her, she teases you with heady floral and creamy warmth. She teases you because you want you can only imagine being held by her warmth. Her creaminess makes you thirsty for more. Before you know it, she is gone. Terracotta Le Parfum Guerlain makes you chase her. She does not linger for you. You swear she is somewhere near. She toys with you. To be with her, you must draw closer and closer, on her terms. It is only then you realize how lucky you are to have her.

Divine, creamy, tropical flowers with a splash of coconut milk. This fragrance immediately takes me back to a backpacking summer holiday in Bali when I was young, broke, but so eager to explore the world. I have such a strong scent memory of the champaca that were in bloom during August, and Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum is so reminiscent of those flowers.

This is the most elegant summer scent I own without being stuffy. It is warm and inviting and mixes beautifully with sun-warmed skin. Better than average projection and longevity. Lately, I've been layering this over JHAG Vanilla Vibes—a match made in heaven! Vanilla Vibes adds a bit of whimsy with its salty sweetness. Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum has become a summer essential for me. I definitely think it's worth tracking down for those who are tropical floral lovers.

berat1993

I cant belive how can a fragrance be this perfect !! I love how this parfume is maded , so balanced , sweet, creamy, powdery, you cant get enough of it. This smells like summer, coconut milk blended with tropical flowers, this is pure, to me it represents a shy island girl, this smells young and puts you in a good beachy mood. The only thing i wish is to be more long lasting, maybe they need to do a stronger version of this , by adding a more strong base note .

Dreamscents

Tropical, breezy flowers surrounded by coconutmilk. The sweetness feels natural, nothing artificial and amt up. I feel almost ridiculously happy when I wear this one. It's a magical scent. I have used this for dinnerparties, for everyday and on the beach, but only in summer. It is for me a summerscent for sure. Medium longevitiy and projection. Complimentgetter.

ingeneuxo

-This was so hyped up by the YT community I thought it would have to be the end-all-be-all of coconut/tiare fragrances.
-And guess what...its straight up bug spray to my nose.
-Gross scent I'd never wear in a million years. (-)

Over Terracotta, I'd recommend:
Coconut Fizz by Guerlain

I adore beach summer scents. My favourites are TF Eau de Soleil Blanc and MM Replica Beach Walk. I blind bought Terracotta do add it to my collection. Tbh I expected stg a bit different, but I still like it. I do not get almost any coconut, it is mostly white flowers, which I am a fan of as well, with Tiare dominating (I think), which is ok with me, as I like it quite a lot. It is creamy, warm, yet not too heavy, with a little bit of sweetness. As opossed to EdSB and BW, I don not get the suntan lotion vibe here, which I tend to like and kind of miss it, but on the other hand, it is probably ok, that not half of my summer perfumes smell totally alike. So to sum it up - it is a very nice summer fragrance, and even it is different from what I expect it, I do not regret the blind buy. I am looking forward to warmer weather to see if it develops to a full potential (as @JazLee wrote in her review below) and some more beachy/ tropical vibes will kick in.

charmedbella

This was a blind buy for me because it is hard to find in the US. I ordered it directly from Selfridges in the UK and the shipping alone was $30.

On me, Terracotta wears as all white florals. While it is nice, it isn't what I was expecting, which was luxurious tropical vacation. My nose doesn't detect any coconut or the tropical flowers. It is all jasmine and some vanilla. The other downside was how fleeting it is. On skin, it is gone within two hours.

For me, my preferred tropical, beachy, vacation scents would be Soleil Blanc, Dolce Garden, and Sun di Gioia. Terracotta Le Parfum does not make the cut. Very disappointed.

oncebitten

Falls into the same beachy, sunscreen, tropical floral camp as the likes of MM Beach Walk and Mancera Holidays, but a little more floral-leaning. It's beautiful and sunny and really does deliver on the promise of 'sunshine in a bottle,' if you're expecting a coconut cream-based cocktail though you would do well to look elsewhere. It's much lighter and brighter than that. Think 'spa day at a Tahitian resort,' soaking in a beautiful splash tub in the middle of a garden with flowers all around.

babysoft79

I was hoping this woud be a warm, sun in a bottle type beach scent based on reviews and I was sorely disappointed:( It is pure white floral. As in a white floral bomb. It is such a strong punch of tiare flower, I was taken aback. I couldn't detect any coconut or vanilla sadly because the tiare was so overwhelming. You have to really love white florals to like this and it's definitely not a safe blind buy. This one went right back.

JazLee

I bought this fragrance in the winter and I think Terracotta only opens up to it’s fullest potential when sprayed in the summer.
At first spray, this was not a love for me. I found it to be too floral heavy and barely picked up any coconut or “tropical” vibes. Fast forward to late spring, I spray this beauty again, and wow, it smells completely different. The coconut comes through, along with the Tiare and now the Ylang Ylang seems to take a (very far away) back seat.
I now crave this when I know it’s going to be a warm and sunny day.
If this scent is not an instant like for you, I highly suggest a few applications, especially in the warmer weather, to give it a chance to perform at it’s best.

amanda118

This fragrance was a disappointment for me and I apparently cannot return it because I have opened the packaging so I have a 100ml bottle of this for sale if anyone wants it. I have only tested it on myself so it is pretty much brand new.

clemmy

I blind bought this fragrance, convinced by reviews. I wanted a creamy coconut, therefore I was shocked at first from the strong flowers (and i don't like flowers too much!!).
Initially I had 'old lady' vibes. Then luckily it sets on tiare' and a bit of coconut.
It is not my fav yet, but it is ok. Let's see if it will grow on me after some time.
EDIT: I finally found my perfect creamy coconut in Lancome La Nuit Tresor Nude

Swedelish

My favorite Guerlain fragrance! Terracotta is my tropical escape and it never gets old. It unfolds in layers, different florals taking dominance depending on where it's projecting. Outside with strong wind on a sunng spring day it is grapey orange blossom all the way, still on top of that creamy coconut vanilla base. Indoors with air conditioning it's equally tiare and jasmine, citruses more pronounced and of course the same lovely base. It smells at home on my skin all year long, but nothing compares to the sheer bliss I experience when the sun is hitting my skin and Terracotta wafts around me. I've yet to find a superior "bronzed goddess" /tropical vacation/ heaven in a bottle beachy floral to this, and I've tried. Thank goodness I have backups and won't run out anytime soon, but i will continue searching for the next one. I cannot get enough, it's perfect.

Olfa

I agree with the last review on this perfume.
It’s a safe blind buy for people who like Prada Candy L’eau and the original Candy. Who likes deep smells like amber fragrances (not overpowered by it ofc). Jasmine Noir Bvlgari and a honeysuckle kind of milky lactonic smell it reminds me. At least if you like vanilla and searching for a sweet milky floral maui type of vacation smelling thing, that’s it.

For longevity on clothes;
I spray this on my rope bracelet and no matter what I do(shower/bathing, washing dishes etc.) it still stays on like a week on my bracelet.

On skin;
I can say I hear it during the day after 4-6 hours but not as strong as the opening of course.
I’d even by this just for the dry down to be honest. It is magic.

Sreza7

I’ve come to the conclusion that this is my favorite coconut summertime fragrance. I’ve tried every well known coconut perfume; Beach Walk, Eau de Soleil Blanc, Bronze Goddess, Holidays. This is the best one in my opinion. I love the white florals and the sweet vanilla and buttery coconut. And it’s strong and lasts all day. I’ve hesitated to buy this because it’s hard to come by and it’s expensive.
Update 06/23/2021: after stalking Terracotta for almost a year I’ve finally acquired a full bottle. It makes me so happy to see it in my collection. This has a very realistic gardenia smell to it, such a happy fragrance.

ta_rahman

Guerlain Terracotta: lovely white floral with great freshness! I think it's a perfect day perfume. It's a little heavier than your summer friendly freshies (l'imperatrice, for example) but I love it because it lasts longer and packs a slightly stronger punch without being over powering at all. I don't smell the coconut or the jasmine listed, by I smell a very fine, fresh tuberose - like tuberose drenched in water, even though it's not a listed note. Lasting power is 6 hrs on me, on clothes 8 hrs. Moderate projection, which I love. Definitely full bottle worthy.

pennny

I just took it for my mother👩. It's a really nice fragrance. At the first sniff you get a bouquet of tiare flowers then comes a little coconut and jasmine. A few hours later it's a warm and sweet sugary scent of jasmine orange flower and a hint of musk.I think in the summer would be a masterpiece, well done to Mr Thierry that managed to put "Summer in Greece"in a bottle.

i2uby

I’m not an oversprayer but the longevity and projection of this eau de toilette are both pretty weak. I absolutely adore every note this bottle offers so I constantly refresh myself. I can’t believe I used up 6ml in 5 days. On my skin, I smell fresh jasmine, soft tiare, warm orange blossom, creamy coconut and just a hint of delicious vanilla in the dry down. This is my perfectly refined beach vacation in a bottle. Definitely a safe blind buy for white floral lovers.

Lipglossjunkee

Lovely white floral with prominent notes of tiare, coconut, and vanilla. There's a nice warm orange blossom accord that smells like warm sunshine, and this is just lovely. Perfect beach scent.

TheLB

I recently purchased this perfume and I love it. It’s def a white floral scent with a creaminess that makes it mature but not grandmotherly. It’s sultry, summery, warm, Mediterranean resort like. It has descent staying power, the sillage is also good. Not overpowering but noticeable. Wonderful scent.

pamplemousse2

I was very excited about this as a summer scent, and then had seen people mention it wasn't as tropical smelling or coconutty as they thought and more floral, so I went in with lowered expectations because I did want something coconutty. But wow, I put this on and no, it isn't super coconutty, but it transports me definitely to a sunny tropical place with tropical white florals. It smells like something very familiar with fun summer times, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps if there was a more floral sunscreen I've had in the past? On the skin, it smells nutty and slightly sweet, too.

About 5 minutes later and I feel like the coconut comes out the slightest bit more. I can just imagine quietly suntanning on the beach, the sand, under the sun, and relaxing. I'm in cold Chicago right now, but this is really transporting me on vacation somewhere. I can smell it pretty strongly within 5" of my skin initially and it projects further than that, but I sprayed quite a bit.

I know I said earlier I was really looking for a coconutty summer fragrance and I wanted it to be kinda fun and sexy. This, however, feels very refined, rich, someone that has a lot of money and goes on resort vacations often. Fashionable and mature feminine woman. I could see an oversized hat and oversized sunglasses as well.

I think as well this reminds me somewhat of Sun & Sand from Yankee Candle. It's not exact, but it is a similar floral tropical scent with orange blossom, citrus freshness, and musk. So if you enjoy that scent, you may enjoy this one as well.

1 hour later and I would say that on my arms, the projection has pretty much completely dropped off to mostly a skin scent (it did around maybe the 30 minute mark?), however I smell it projecting still from my chest, which is much warmer than my arms, so maybe in the summer heat, it'll stay projecting more on the rest of the skin as well. I will say however that I could see the white florals being a bit heady and heavy in the heat and humidity, but nothing terrible. I feel like I can smell sweetness from the ylang-ylang and the jasmine and tiare are still strong. I get some of the 'popcorn' scent as well. Maybe a slight hint of vanilla as well?

I'll see how long this lasts.

3 hours later and it's significantly lighter, but I can still definitely smell it on my skin and I get whiffs here and there of the white floral with slight coconut vanilla sweetness.

6 hours later and it's gotten a lot less strong and no more projection, but I could still smell it definitely on my skin.

12 hours later and I'm impressed, with my nose to my skin, I can still definitely pick up the muskiness, but also still some of the florals and coconut slightly. I have to go to bed at this point so I'm not sure when it'll stop smelling, but it's definitely detectable on the skin still without having to try too hard.

lyka

ressemble à nuxe, solaire, classe, chic, conforme à la marque Guerlain; plutôt feminin. bonne tenue et sillage ok

Mischa.ela

I just don't know... It's not what I expected 😩 I mean... I like it, but it's not fresh as I thought it would be. All I smell is jasmine green tea with a hint of coconut. I don't know if I can call it tropical, beachy, vacation-y. Summery - yes, but that's it.
I'll still wear it, probably in a combination with Yves Rocher's dry monoi oil, that could work 🤔

Sillage - it sits close to the skin, longevity - 2h max on my skin.

Purrsian

This is one of my favourite white floral scents, among Carnal Flower, A La Nuit, Narcotic V, Rouge Malachite, Vert Malachite... coconut and lime here are to elevate and support the white and yellow flowers, while musk and others are to anchor them giving the flowers more depth, they do not stand out noticeably. It’s simply stunning! Love it!

cremaymiel

Terracotta Le Parfum has captured the sublime essence of the tropics in a bottle. This scent is so sultry and languorous - like snoozing on a white crochet hammock beneath swaying palm trees. To me this is thick, luxurious and buttery. It melts into skin like the most expensive suntan lotion. It definitely makes me think of nude, bronzed, glistening skin speckled with sand. The creamy coconut combined with vanilla gives me *almost* edible vibes, reminding me of fragrant arroz con leche - Spanish rice pudding that has been carefully simmered with milk, citrus peel, cinnamon and sugar. But the sweet white florals on top keep it from going gourmand and give it a delicate, breezy feel. It's the feeling of rolling around in a bed of silky sheets with the balcony doors thrown open and blue as far as the eye can see. It's a romantic island getaway. It's those precious, passionate moments that I'll always remember, long after the sun has gone down.

Aikipy

I see Terracotta as more of a summer island beach walk type of a scent. I imagine a very classy woman, white midi summer dress, and a wide hat wearing this on a promenade alongside a beach in South of France 🙂 Love the perfume, it’s one of my favorites!

(This is my second review of this fragrance, I felt the need to talk about it again after wearing it a few times. It has gone from a Like to a Love for me, I think after it stayed in the drawer for a couple of weeks, it sort of “calmed down” so to speak and now the flowers in the beginning are not as strong and punchy as I felt them when I first tried it.)

cherrybae

I (wisely) got a tester before buying a bottle, and thank god for that, because this is a really disappointing perfume. I was hoping it would smell like the guerlain terracotta sun powder, but IT DOES NOT, at least not on my skin. It smells really bad actually, like some kind of tealeaves.

I hoped for sun and vanilla and coconut and warmth and creamy white flowers, but I can't smell any of it on my wrists, just some stingy leaves or yogurt-y smell.

Will not buy, and would not reconmend :(

mhobol

I enjoy this so much. On me, it is mostly white flower and coconut. Tiare takes the center stage. The key words are creamy sun. Would not call this tropical, but it does have sun tan vibes. Is there better summer scents out there? - Yep, and they are usually a bit more fruity, but for me this is nostalgy in a bottle. So warm. A crowd pleaser and a compliment getter. The dry down is beautiful and quite private.

Remember: This Le Perfum is an EDT.

Callista25

Beautiful indolic jasmine vanilla coconut. Leaves a lovely sillage. Perfect for summer or vacation.

Reminds me of Champs Lunaires by Rogue, only that one is tuberose dominant.

ClassicsLover

This is a beautiful fragrance. If you are expecting a coconut bomb, don't. This doesn't have that sweet car freshener coconut in it. The coconut is very subtle and mainly there to add creaminess to this scent. But if you are looking for a luscious floral evocative of a tropical night in paradise, you've found your scent.

Zethre

Lots and lots of orangey flowers, with a bit of jasmine is what I get. Quite strong and longer lasting

Aikipy

Lovely scent, although not what I was expecting. The start is very floral, that’s basically all I could smell, but the dry down is so creamy and coconuty, with a hint of white florals, which is more of what I had in mind when I got it. A gorgeous Thierry Wasser creation. I will give it just a Like instead of Love because of the strong flowers scent in the top notes, I would have liked to feel the coconut and bergamot as well blended in there. Not a safe blind buy.

bel.gravia

A perfume I didn't know I needed! It's full on orange blossom and creamy coconut/tiare on me. It is floral tropical warm without being spicy oriental. Oh I love this so much! Smells like sunkissed skin.

lmnsvgz

Very feminine, I can imagine it being a grownup, coming of age summer fragrance, because it is sweet but in a more mature way. Very beautiful vacation scent.

PerfumedParrot

It’s just lovely and bursting with sunshine. To me it’s a cross between Lush’s ‘Lust’ and Christian Louboutin’s ‘Bikini Questa Sera’ but with added vanilla. I would have loved wearing this on holiday a few years ago when I was in my heady jasmine and coconut phase. What’s not to love? I just need to try this again in the summer. Yum!

zgeco

White flower bouquet with touch of exotic ylang-ylang and creamy coconut. Coconut is not dominant as other reviewers say; it provides softness. Classy and elegant, it is a Guerlain, one feels it. Gorgeous bottle, gorgeous look, great scent.

I occasionally sniff the scent outside of its season, namely summer. Recently, I felt that it is heavy though. It is actually quite heavy, and ylang-ylang sometimes becomes pungent. Recommend buying but test before- not a safe blind buy.

Dwallyfritz

An easy reach- smooth, creamy lightly sweet white floral. The jasmine stands out strong in the opening- really reminds me of Venezia by Laura Biagiotti- but thats where the similarity ends. This is sweeter, more refined, and dries down so beautifully. The only downfall with this one is it doesn't last long on my skin. After 4 hours its gone on me.
Edit: I finally got to wear this in the summer heat and boy does it blossom! Longevity has doubled and it leaves a beautiful trail. Definitely a hot and humid fragrance!

SaharaSara

Juicy, creamy white floral- very strong on the jasmine and the Ylang-Ylang hangs in the background. The coconut here is very soft and almost completely overwhelmed by the white florals, it adds to the creaminess, almost like a faint watered down coconut milk rather than sweet coconut flakes.
The vanilla is there ever so slightly but this is not a typical sweet coconutty tropical fragrance. No, the jasmine is really the star of the show here. This smells like what an expensive, elegant lady would wear if she were in Cannes or Monaco.

This could work day or night in the summer- but for me this is for a summer, day time formal event. Projection is elbow length for first 2 hours and then it settles but lasts around 5 hours on me. I would advise getting a smaller bottle as it is not that versatile in my opinion. Lovely but not that tropical.

Jiffie

Very feminine and light. Perfect for holiday on the beach. It does have floral tropical vibe. Very happy! :)

fawneyed_sita

I picked up an adorable 15 mL bottle of this and it smells divine. A gorgeous buttery tiare and jasmine. The ylang-ylang is subdued here which I prefer because ylang ylang can overwhelm my nose. The white florals all blend together in this composition.

I agree it is way more floral than it is sunscreeny or coconutty, if you want a scent like that I highly recommend Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc, which for me is the perfect tropical beachy coconut. Here the sunscreeny coconut note is just floating in the background and the white florals are indeed at the forefront. This isn't the beach, this is a lush tropical forest garden. Personally, I love that!

I don't get any tuberose whatsoever...tuberose is spicy and pungent (I'm comparing it to a sample of Hiram Green's Moon Bloom which is the highest quality and most natural tuberose I can think of!), so if you fear tuberose I wouldn't fear this one. The end result is very pleasant, and on this cold dreary winter night, almost fantastical! Perfect for a holiday get away.

Capfi

My favorite perfume, it is feminine, tropical and comforting at the same time . Just beautiful!

Gilda2002

I have a bottle about 80% ready to trade if anyone is interested.

BostonScentGuy

An evocative, abstract tropical floral that evokes gardenia, sun-kissed skin, sunblock, and sweet creamy drinks. It's hard to justify wearing this in my daily life, but it's definitely sends me on a trip whenever I spritz it on. I do see how tiare/gardenia is the overall most standout note, but this definitely feels like a well-blended mix of all sorts of white flowers. It actually brings to mind Le Labo's Lys with a more vacation-ey bent. I have a full bottle which I just feel like I'll never be able to use. A lot of 15ml sprays started popping up on eBay, and I wish I'd held out for those, since it would be a blast to take on an island vacation and have it be the "defining scent" of the trip.

fluffy9

When i try to smell it straight from the bottle, I really like the smell, ir smells like vacation by the sea in the summer. But when i bought it and tried on my skin, it felt like i was in the funeral - remembers me the smell of flowers that usually are brought to the funeral.

robertlia

Really nice and bright white floral with solar and creamy facets. Right away you can smell bright Ylang Ylang and Jasmine, even the animalic part of Jasmine that smells like horses. Tiare sometimes smells like pixie sticks to me and you do get that powdered sweetness here, but FYR this is way more natural and balanced than Montale Intense Tiare. Just a warning that the Montale was really harsh and synthetic to my nose and I had to get rid of my bottle! Anyway, in Terracotta I do also get a Tuberose vibe although its not listed. If you have smelled BDK Tubereuse Imperiale this is not totally dissimilar.

The vanilla/coconut thing is definitely there too, but for me it's 2nd to the sweet brightness of the white flowers. I think the silage is mostly those sweet solar florals, and its more creamy up close when you smell your skin. The creamy vanilla is also what sticks around the longest.

d_silent_one

I fell for the hype. I'm actually glad I only bought a small 0.5 ounce. The smell is not what I expected at all. I was expecting a tropical island retreat but it's nothing like that. This is pure white flowers, very heavy on the jasmine, smelling closer to tuberose. I dare to say, I've smelled tuberose perfumes that actually smell better than this. Sorry girls but this is the reality. I was truly disappointed because I was really expecting something totally different. I was expecting sunscreen, beach, fun in the sun, tropical island, creamy coconuts... well, no. Just so that you have an idea, this smells like Truth or Dare by Madonna but less intense.

Sweetlady 123

It's December and I feel kinda nostalgic about summer. So I've decided to have a throwback today. Two sprays of this liquid gold and I'm back in Greece where I spent last vacation.

Tiare flower is the most prominent accompanied with jasmine and ylang ylang. In the background orange flower is supporting this composition. I was looking forward for some coconut, but I don't smell it here. I just wish it lasts longer.

This is pure love for me and anytime I will crave summer I know what to reach for.

When I was leaving Greece and saying goodbye to my friend, she hugged me and said " mmm you smell like summer". And she's right.

danygurl06

Oh, this smells good. At first spray this was similar to my little dabber sample of Monoi Eau des Vahines by Yves Rocher. But it soon shifts into Jasmine territory as the coconut dies down.

This is so reminiscent of Living Libations Best Skin Ever Tropical, but more sweet. I smell slightly indolic jasmine which is nice. That stops it from turning into air freshener on my skin. Much like the Best Skin Ever Tropical oil, this becomes a skin scent all too fast. It really smells like fragranced oil on the skin instead of a perfume.

This is lighter than Tom Ford Soleil Blanc and Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche, but is still in the refined tropical floral category. Soleil Blanc smells like sweet sand mixed with spices and a little milky. Bronze Goddess smells like a proper perfume with its musky amber smell. The dry down is closer to Soleil Blanc but they don’t smell alike.

This is way more tolerable to me than fragrances like Comptoir Sud Pacific Aloha Tiare, Aerin Hibiscus Palm, and Bond No 9 Saks Fifth Ave for Her.

It could stand to be a little stronger in projection. Beyond that,I am happy with this fragrance.

bel.gravia

Smells like a smooth body souffle in a beige coloured packaging, with some tiari flower/frangipani accord.

ambydawn

Very pretty tropical/beachy fragrance. I pick up the notes as listed, which is unusual for me and my skin chemistry but this is pretty straightforward and linear on me. Opening is a little more fresh and dry down is warmer with the vanilla, but I still find it to be a mostly linear scent. Other than immediately after spraying, I would consider this almost a skin scent with poor longevity. I applied three sprays around 6:30am. By the time I got to work at 7am, I could barely detect the scent unless I pressed my nose to my arm or smelled my shirt. Now, at 12:30pm, it is gone without a trace. It is damp and chilly out today, but not the kind of cold, dry weather that really kills fragrances so the performance is a little disappointing. I bet it would be really nice in the summer. It has that feel of a vacation fragrance anyway. I definitely plan to keep trying, as it is really lovely!

RottigrlNYC

I blind bought this one and it’s just not for me. Wayyy too much jasmine and I’m not a fan of jasmine. Not liking it at all, if anyone wants to swap, message me. My bottle is 99% full.

Matheya

Initially the coconut is very present and makes this fragrance warm and fresh . After an hour the Jasmine shows up and it becomes a heavy white floral with vanilla-woody base. I'm not a fan of Jasmine and Rose so I always get this heavy powdery vibes with such perfumes. I wish the opening was more long lasting with some yellow flowers instead of Jasmine .

Jacquis

I'm starting to realize that Terracotta works best in the transitional seasons. During the heat and humidity of summer, Terracotta remains close to the skin and will not project. In Autumn and Spring, Teracotta emits more cloud but, don't expect a big cloud. It's more of a personal scent.

giri-boni

This is basically gardenia. White flowers burning in the sun of the afternoon. Guess the combo jasmine + coconu t gives me this vibe. Extreme realistic gardenia. Imposible not to love it. If you like white flowers....

Scentflower

Oh Guerlain there's so many reasons why I love you...here's another. This perfume smells expensive. It's the most gorgeous floral with a sweetness in the background. I'm not a enormous fan of florals, I like them but I need to have some sweetness and some massive depth. This perfume has richness from the ylang ylang. It gives it depth. Plus there's jasmine. Honest I feel fancy, elegant and gorgeous smelling while wearing this.

LaChinoiserie

Can't add anything that hasn't already been said about this perfume - it's an absolute delight. Sun in a bottle. Puts me in a good mood every time.

But I did want to share the way I layer it:

Terracotta + Prada's Infusion d'Iris + Escentric Molecules' Molecule 01

Infusion d'Iris' sharpness cuts down on Terracotta's sweetness which can be too much for me sometimes. And a bit of Molecule 01 enhances and projects it.

My favourite summer combo. Try it out!

My "go-to fragrance" in summer! This is an absolute compliment getter.

When wearing Terracotta, I feel like lying on the beach while drinking a coconut cocktail. With a Tiare coronal on my head I am enjoying the summer and having fun.

I really don't want to miss this precious scent in my collection anymore.

Starts with a velvety gardenia and a hidden ylang ylang note underneath it.
Longevity is quite fair on it.

I've tried this before, now again in a bundle of tropicals I got in a pack. Trying to love this, but it doesn't give me tropical vibes. It gives me jasmine, white floral powdery vibes. Very nice, but to me doesn't feel tropical.

Edit: dries down a nice coconut.

In the opening, this reminds me of Love Beauty and Planet ylang ylang and coconut oil shampoo and conditioner (hope and repair) almost identical and I used that for months so I know what it smells like. The dry down is sweet vanillic white florals. Someone commented that the tiare flower (tropical gardenia) was very realistic and i agree. Beautiful beautiful perfume. This is an energizing, bright sunny day scent!

Have you ever held a Guerlain terracotta bronzer to your nose? This perfume definitely manages to catch the essence of that smell. It is a predominantly floral but also powdery scent. It opens with a light coconut note that disappears almost immediately on me and then the jasmine takes centre stage. I also detect a muskiness and a hint of sweetness, maybe from the vanilla. On my skin, this is almost immediately a skin scent however, sprayed on fabric it is stronger. This is an EDT and not an EDP, as the name 'Terracotta Le Parfum' would mislead you into thinking.

Jasmine is a very popular and important flower in our culture, widely used on auspicious occasions, places of worship. Growing up, we had a jasmine bush in the front yard of my family home, as did most homes in our region. The jasmine note in this perfume smells just like scent of fresh blooms that fills the night air there. I was convinced that I didn't like the note because of my constant exposure to it growing up but surprisingly, this perfume makes me feel nostalgic, reminds me of my family home and childhood vacations. It's a keeper.

Edit: I have decided that I do like the note of jasmine a lot, when it reminds me of fresh blooms like in this fragrance however the more indolic jasmine note, like in Mugler's Alien, is one that I am not fond of.

A white floral that smells like it's part of you instead of smelling perfumey as white florals usually tend to do. Terracotta balances the florals with the coconut/musk beautifully to create a sensual vacation type fragrance that doesn’t smell like suntan oil. Like a more refined and classy Bronze Goddess.

I was dreaming of a sent that would help me escape the city life and bring me directly to the beach along with the coconuts, the sea breeze and the martinis. The illusion of wearing this was far more exciting than the fear of not liking it. So after much much thought, I decided to buy it, to open the packaging and to wear it - just one spray.

Sadly, I couldn't help but notice that it had a sort of metallic smell on me like white flowers mixed with creamy powdered rust and vanilla musk. I detected no coconut. I had to wash it off right away.

After this sad experience, I tried Soleil Blanc from Tom Ford and I was able to find something that I enjoyed and that smelled really good on my skin. The price tag however is pretty hefty so I will have to wait and think about getting a bottle.

The description of this perfume sounded like the stuff of dreams. I thought it would smell like Hawaii in the rain, or something like that. Sadly it’s a sickly sweet bomb. I can’t speak for the notes in this, but I didn’t get anything tropical/Beachy from it, only a cloying scent of something sugary sweet. Smelled like dessert actually. If you’re really into sweet smelling perfumes, then maybe try this. Otherwise, skip it, because you’ll hate it.

Warm and deep, the beauty is in the dry down.

Terracotta opens with STRONG white florals but mellows into something sweeter and creamier as the coconut, ylang, and vanilla come through. I thought I disliked this perfume, but after those first 15 minutes or so, I absolutely love it. Smells like a sunset on days when your worries are not so present and not so urgent. Smells like beach warm skin.

For me, a bit too heavy for heat of a summer day, but maybe for a breezy summer night or maybe a good transitional fragrance for spring or early fall.

The opening is intensely jasmin and tiara flower and the dry down is a less intense jasmin and tiare flower. This was unfortunately a blind buy based on the reviews here and YT. The notes also appealed to me but the smell is not what I was hoping for.

I blind bought Terracotta and I don’t regret it😊it is a beautiful summer fragrance. It wowed me on first spritz. On my skin, it opens bright with bergamot and tiare flower. Its so refreshing! After it settles down a bit then coconut and jasmine elevate the tiare to make it more smooth and gorgeous. I do own Montale Intense Tiare and the smell pretty similar to this one but this smells a bit more unique in my opinion. I love both. Terracotta to me smells like a sun in a bottle. Perfect for beachy, sunny day. Whenever I wear this perfume I can imagine myself on a vacation in tropical island wearing hawaiian tank top, relaxing at the beach whilst drinking coconut water. Super refreshing! The projection is moderate and longevity around 6-7 hours with minimal spray. I think if you spray a lot then you’ll get better performance and projection. Overall, this fragrance is gorgeous and I’m lucky to add this in my collection since this fragrance is limited edition and really hard to find.

This is a Beautiful Jasmine Sambac supported by Neroli and Tiare with that slight touch of Ylang that gives it a very mild beachy/suntan vibe - but no Coconut for me and the Guerlinade/Vanilla is also mildly added here.

Very Beautiful and much better than I had expected!

I have over 30 Guerlain scents but this is one of my favorite perfumes ever. I don't even really like florals! But there is something about this that is intensely addictive. It smells like the most gorgeous sunscreen ever- like one that an heiress on a yacht would wear as she bathes in the sun. It is a warm white floral with sweet coconut cream swirled in, and it never comes across as artificial or cheap at all. It also never gives me a headache, as most white florals do. When I wear it, I can't stop smelling myself. I want to eat it up! Highly recommend, if you can find it!

Marina.Klr

Have you ever smelled jasmine outside on the street as you walk? This perfume smells exactly like that! As if you're wrapped in a veil of real, natural, jasmine & tiare. Not artificial at all, but a quality creation. Jasmine bracelets, orange blossoms tangled in the hair and a necklace of coconut flakes. You wear all these invisible accessories when you spray this perfume on your body. Star signs: Gemini, Cancer, Pisces

yes that's it, Mahora summer style,

I got this from a swap and it was actually the last one from the bottles that I tried but happened to be the one that surprised me the most. Love this, it has that sun on skin scent mixed with some intoxicating white flowers. It is summer and beachy but not the "in your face" type

Malleable

A buttery, tropical white floral skin scent reminiscent of summer. This is a solid like for me. It's a nice beach scent that gives off vibes of sun kissed skin and tropical florals. The more I smell it, I quite like it, but not sure if it's worth the price of a full bottle. I'm going to look into Mahora and Lys Soleia as others have mentioned and see if I like one of those just as much before deciding to buy a full bottle.

Edit: This ended up being my favorite of the three I mentioned, hands down. Bought a full bottle and totally worth it.

Swedelish

Lovely tropical floral with a warm, sweet base. There's a vintage spicy flare given off by ylang ylang. Not your teenager's beachy scent. Terracotta is classy and refined in timeless Guerlain fashion. A true bronzed goddess scent. For several years Guerlain re-released this beauty every summer, however I don't recall seeing it last year. I wonder if they'll bring it back again. It should be a summer mainstay in their line, if not a permanent part of their collection.

Kots_Tanya

Beautiful white floral Jasmine Tiare fragrance, feminine and smells like summer. It reminds me a lot of Pure Poison by Dior.
Its compared to Guerlain Lys Soleia, I dont really agree, the dry down is very different, Soleia dries like a sweet banana like sweetness. I can smell Ylang and vanilla and some lily but to me its mostly that tropical banana sweetness with Ylang. Terracotta is very dominant in Jasmine and Tiare. Tiare can be a bit cloying. Again Soleia is much sweeter. So i think it worth exploring and smelling both.
