Armani Privé Oud Royal by Giorgio Armani is a Amber Woody fragrance for women and men. Armani Privé Oud Royal was launched in 2010. The nose behind this fragrance is Evelyne Boulanger.

Armani launches new perfumes of the Privé collection in November 2010. The collection is named "La Collection des Mille et une Nuits," inspired by the medieval Arabic tales from 1001 nights. These three new heute couture perfumes depict the exotic mystery of the Orient with its warm, spicy and woody notes on the subject of rose, oud and amber.

Armani Privé La Collection des Mille et une Nuits icludes three perfumes: Oud Royal, Ambre Orient and Rose d'Arabie. The fragrances are exclusively designed for the Middle East market and are made as imitations of their traditional perfumery and local ingredients.

Oud Royal is a deep, warm and spicy elixir of agar wood, which is very popular in the Arab region. Agar is enriched with spicy notes of saffron, amber, rose, sandalwood and incense.

It is packed in a black glass bottle decorated with a golden stopper.

I've had this in the back of my mind for years. Finally found the right deal and got a 3.4 oz. This is a very agreeable oud fragrance that is generally unoffensive and easy to wear for us Westerners. It's in a similar vein to Tom Ford Oud Wood in that regard, but this has way better lasting power than the current formulation of Oud Wood, and this is way more rich and deep. I think Oud Royal is better suited to cooler weather, but it could be pulled off in higher heat, especially if indoors and particularly if dressing up. I don't think it's synthetic; it comes across quite natural and very luxurious to my nose.
If you like oud or you're wanting to try an oud fragrance as a beginning, I think this is a good one to start. My family doesn't like oud, and this is one that they are okay with. If you like the reviews here, I think this is blind buy safe if you have the money.
I'd rate this 8.5/10, maybe higher! Great addition to my collection that I'm trying to be more selective in adding to.

I wear this on special occasions or when I want to feel formal and elegant. It's really nice. I thought it smelled weird the first time I sprayed it, but as time went on, this fragrance became a pleasant woody and ambery olfactory experience. The saffron and rose really add to the elegance, and I also pick up a kind of... pleasant minty or spicy note? The incense can be a bit too much if you spray this too much. I usually go with 2-4 sprays of this stuff. 9/10

Sexy sexy scent for men. While it is unisex it is def more male. Fresh oud with a lot of incense. Good for fall winter, and it is both a day and night scent imo.

Mój ulubiony zapach na zawsze, nigdy się z nim nie rozstanę. Szukanie tańszych zamienników nie ma sensu.

The classic oud interpretation from the brand. like CLASSIC. the westerner oud.
I think you may pick up kinda similar feel with Oud Wood or something else.

I use to own, Oud Abaramad by BDK. The oud accord here and there are similar.
But the difference point was mellow powdery dry down that musky (+/-) Oudy aspect.
I think this is beautiful... but like.. for the price.. Na c'mon man..

This is a bit too expensive to sell at USD 400+...

A refined, if a bit sour, simple oud scent. The oud is very "latex glove" like, and the saffron is very prominent in the opening - which makes it smell a bit like middle eastern rice (in a very nice nutty, warm way). I'm not sure when I'd wear this as it is a bit heavy for my tastes, but if you're into amber-oud perfumes and are not scared by saffron, check this one out!

Koku doktoru

I've said this for Xerjoff More Than Words as well, this is a really beautiful and a highly masterfully blended perfume. But in just my personal opinion, it doesn't have any uniqueness to it. I have too many oud rose combos that are heavy on the amber and fruity side that's why it doesn't bring anything extraordinary to my nose. So if you're someone who wants to get into such segment of soft oud scents, decant this and a few more, and only then make your decision.

Phalpin

This is a very simple and basic oud fragrance in the best way possible. The oud is woody/rubbery and very refined and appealing. The projection isn't too loud but the longevity was extreme when I tested it.

I am not sure if this excites me enough to add to my collection though...

Cooling321

Platinum Oud from pascal morabito nails this profile for just £9.99. Projection and longevity aren’t the best there but it’s not too bad.

Doffstein

rickkkkky

Finally managed to grab an older bottle from 2015 which is supposed to be pre-reformulation, but frankly, I'm rather underwhelmed by the performance. The scent is on point, obviously, but this is hardly any louder than the current batches. I'd expect much more from a 250 EUR oud fragrance.

Oh well, I love Oud Royal to the moon and back regardless.

Luca Lucarelii

Justified perfume name, I don't like Oud but I like this and bought a bottle without much thought.

bingo001

This is almost an identical fragrance to LV Ombre Nomade for less than half the price. Stunning fragrance with amazing performance.

RGH01

Oud Royal is one of my favourite offerings from the Armani Privé line. It follows a very simple structure and stays relatively linear throughout the life of the scent. A soft, sweet amber accord, smoky myrrh and some faint warm spices act as supports for the main note of oud.

The oud here does not smell real in the slightest, or even particularly high quality, but for some reason it keeps drawing me in. Everything is so smooth and well blended that it creates the most addicting scent trail and will easily have others asking you what you’re wearing.

This for me is a fantastic Westernised interpretation of a clean cut oud fragrance, with some degree of darkness and mystery to it. This is not for those searching for an authentic natural oud - instead more suited to smart, formal occasions that call for something easier on the nose.

John C. Duboiz

Luxurious Oud opening with a slight smokey incense. A warm amber note carries the fragrance throughout, then fades near the dry down. At the dry down there is a creamy sandalwood note, and the sandalwood remains until it's a skin scent.
WoW what a fragrance! If you ever plan on buying only one oud fragrance, let this be it!
Some reviewers here have claimed that there are cheaper alternatives out there. If you're only after a specific scent profile, sure, there are alternative oud fragrances out there with much lower price tags.
But here's my 2 cents: I have smelled and owned a number of oud fragrances, from cheapy Lattafas to expensive Initios. All ouds are not created equal! This one is by far one of the best ouds i have ever smelled. And the quality is outstanding! Nothing harsh, sharp, or synthetic.
The hefty price may deter most enthusiasts, however this is not the kind of fragrance you would wear on a day-to-day basis; this is what you would wear on a very special occasion like a wedding or a black tie event.
People around you will be in awe of the exotic and unique scent. Don't get me wrong, this fragrance is unique, but by no means polarizing or offensive. No stanky barnyard smells here!
Now does that justify the high asking price? Perhaps not for most people, but I am certainly satisfied with my purchase and I would do it again once I run low.

0ud_lover

wow, what an amazing perfume, very pricey though.

Elegant Majesty

It is a scent that's sure to leave a lasting impression. With its captivating blend of rare and exotic ingredients, it's a fragrance that's meant to be savored and enjoyed. Whether you're looking to impress or simply want to indulge in a bit of luxury, this fragrance is a must-try.

The bitter oud and warm sweet scent of amber adds a touch of sensuality to the fragrance, making it perfect for a romantic evening or special occasion. As you wear this fragrance, it evolves on the skin, revealing new layers of complexity and depth.

Fragmorocco

Amazing oud fragrance, not harsh, really classy, smell like a successful alpha entrepreneur
I've got 2 bottles, one that I wear and another one that I would like to trade (still sealed) if you're interested dm me with the fragrance you want to trade

Nbebis

A very easy and versatile oud! Oud Royal can definitely be worn on a daily basis, but I think it shines in formal occasions. The oud and the sandalwood make for a very woody and smooth experience. There is also a noticeably smoky quality that adds to the woody experience. I wouldn't say incense is a main player in this fragrance but it is a great supporting note! So is the rose, it is a red rose but not sweet and jammy, it's airy and floral. A stunning fragrance!

noel1stanley

Absolutely brilliant perfume that is so good that I wear it even. LOVE.

PrincipeFilip

Unreal fragrance 10/10 masterpiece. Opens with strong oud amber incense note with hint of rose on top, while on drydown you can feel woody and burned tires saffron notes. This is gucci - oud intense + matiere premiere crystal saffron or rosendo mateu 5. Performance and projection is also very good. I got 2 hours of great projection and 8 hours of longevity. Worth every penny

Pgdipoto

This starts off sooo beautifully, I honestly felt like it was one of the best fragrances I've ever smelled. Then after less than an hour, it started to turn skanky on me. You know, that atrocious thick/cloying/stinky/toxic-smelling note that is in so many ambery/spicy/woody fragrances.

FragClub

Oud Royal. Synthetic oud at real oud prices. It seems crazy to me that Armani can command $300 for this. Its not bad but for less than $100, probably even less than $50 you can find alternatives that are also using synthetic oud and aren't much different than Oud Royal. The scent is just ok. Projection isn't great. I feel like Montale at least provides better projection. I've heard Lattafa has some economical synesthetic ouds but can't speak that brand myself. Not sure how the ratings are so high on this.

GrenadeGirl

To me, this is very masculine, but it is also extremely good!

It has exquisite balance - opens with the gentle oud and the slight rubber tyre smell I get from insence, but then it rounds out beautifully with a light citrussy pine (not listed?) / sandalwood. It is truly an expert blend!

Due to the top end price I would not call this a safe blind buy, but if you are after something special then it is definitely worth a sample!!

Fragaddict123

When I read the name oud royal I didn’t pay attention to it after testing it out my scent memory clicked
It was almost very close to creed’s royal oud but this one is twice as good
I wasn’t a fan of royal oud by creed but I enjoyed this one and just to clear things up there is no oud in both of the scents that compared
It’s nice and calm in a way Sadly it doesn’t fit in my collection
Performance and projection are ok

asadeghikhah

Mashallah good perfume

Emarati-o-irani

Very nice perfume from another great collection from Dr. Armani Giorgiona!
Greatly proud to put this on -seductive and insecure.

TopBase

This smell blew me away! when I started in perfumery, 10 or so years ago.
Of course there is no real Oud in it, where is there any?
Besides (perhaps in the Night of Malle. Chapter of its own.

But Armani's Oud is so spot on the nail dry that emotion is not even being considered.
Dry as the Kashba in the Sahara without sweet spices.

And therefore this scent will never bore you, or, not bore me, because it is like natural air.

Still love my initial bottle enormously, although I would not know if the current version is not re-done or re-formulated.

ICURN-do perfumes

Strong medicinal and pine sol cleaner smell. Not pleasant at all.

mizur

Oud made beautifully creamy with the most luxurious sandal.

The rest of the notes are just there for the ride, none of them stand out at all…, for me, the saffron and the rose could have been a little louder and that would had made this perfume spicier and sweeter… in the end, and although creamy, it smells a bit like dry wood.

The above preference aside, I love this aroma and will definitely use it a lot!!

Today I layered it with Initio Psychedelic Love and it turned out an amazing combination.

Projection is very decent, I will update later on longevity…

**Update 1**

After a few hours all I could pick up was Psychedelic Love… definitely Initio won over Armani…

In a few days I will try Oud Royal again, but now on its own, and update on performance.

Yalcin05

Best Oud combo in my collection. Not oud ispahan, not oud for greatness not oud wood, not oud orange, not amber aoud.. but this! With Armani you don’t expect this kind of fragrances yet here he is. It impressed me so much even tough it smells like most oud combo fragrances, this is simply perfect balanced. The incense.. saffron and amber makes it a perfect smell and not animalic skanky oud, but rather a creamy and rich. Guess the sandalwood makes it so nice creamy.. simple where others makes it to complicated or to much rose here you smell a animalic oud, but because of the sweetness of saffron(aromatic as well).. the spiceynes of amber, smokiness of incense and thick base of sandalwood you have the Simple’st but best oud.. god cant believe how simple and good this is!

Longevity: not tested proper wait till the days get colder
Sillage: is excellent for me 1 spray and could smell it the whole night till I got to sleep

nordhaul

I don’t remember if I have The 50 or 100ml
But I need more!! It’s dressy but ok casual
too if your looks can carry off such exotic &
not clash with your overall vibe. I agree it’s
Heaven in a bottle. I agree it is Masterfully
Blended. It spoiled me so that I do not like
Initio. TF Oud is nothing. NOTHING! And
Jo Malone along with Oud Isphan are just
Ok. This is just on another level. Better
than any Roja. The only other one I like
is Oud Bouquet (exceedingly delightful).
But this is The best. This is #1 and Oud
Bouquet is #2, less dressy, friendlier while
this is just outstanding 10/10 bar none -
I thought anymore of The Prive line would
be contenders but no - this is The one. 🥇

Ken.Mwendia

I am in love with this Perfume. After Roja Elysium this is my second best.

Hamzahh81

Armani/Privē Oud Royal.
Warm spicy, smoky, woody and elegant oud.
Perfect for this cold rainy night.

Gioia's secret

It smells very oriental! My friend was dating Arabic guy, I have no idea which perfume he was using, but Oud Royal has literally reminded him. It is definitely male fragrance!

IamdrinkingBeer

Westernized oud par excellence. Add some gorgeous, gorgeous incense in the mix, and you got me. This is for now my favorite Armani fragrance ever made. I have yet to try the other Armani prive's, but this is excellent. This speaks to me. I wish i was there to buy this in 2010, so i can make some memories the second it came out.

10/10/22 edit: This reminds me of a dark, spicy sophisticated coca-cola. Try it out and see if you can notice the coca-cola smell.

Giacomooo

Very pleasant scent, but wrongly named. Where is the oud? I get a pleasant sparkling sweet spicy opening which I think is the saffron. It kind of reminds me of Coca-Cola, but in a good way. It then dries down into a nice sandalwood/amber combo which again is also very pleasant. It's definitely a quality scent and imho worthy of it's expensive price tag. It's a very mature scent, so would advise it for someone who is confident. Slightly more masculine leaning, but a boss as woman could rock this as well. Overall: 8.7/10

Caldrumr

This fragrance is like taking Versace Oud Noir, adding a sparkling top note, and adding a good dose of incense for depth.
Very nice, smooth and well blended.
As with many other designer "ouds," there is no oud to be found anywhere in this scent. That being said, the woody amber that we do have is quite fantastic.
It's a love for me..

Zahraa555

When you first spray it you get saffron which is a bit leathery. In the dry down you smell the oud/amber and sandalwood. Reminds me somehow of Tom Ford’s oud wood (but better). Great sillage and projection.

luminaries

A really beautiful woody incense perfume, perfect if you like deeper scents. It starts with really dry saffron that's almost leathery and the wood notes are not funky, it reminds me of some high quality bakhoor smoke. I personally get little to no amber or rose from this at all so this perfume comes off very masculine on me and is difficult to wear as a girl. The quality is apparent in it though, it smells like it's worth what it costs (but Armani's website has sales that include this throughout the year so keep an eye out for it!). The sillage is really strong and the longevity is 8+ hours for me.

fpih

What @Mciccone said below: Nice, but not worth the price unless heavily discounted. I detect amber, sandalwood and a tiny bit of oud, it's a sexy but also very comforting fragrance. However lasting power is ~6h, which is not enough for the price range.

buonobi

On my skin, I can't smell any Oud or any flowers.
Just SANDALWOOD.
Lovely but linear. Sorry :(

raja.mehmood

Big no.this perfume is just about hype no oud init.

Theodorapo

It's the pure oud smell i was searching from a fragrance . I tried it and all i can say is that i get this pure oud smell that no other fragrance in its category can give (not talking aboud Roja etc.). With an undertone of safron/medicine its really the royal oud that its difficult to find out there in most oud named fragrances. Not the best performance thought for the price point, but its incomparable to anything oudi out there for me.

Mciccone

Very nice fragrance from Armani. I saw a few comparisons to Oud Wood? The only thing this shares with Oud Wood is the fact that neither contain any Oud. For those that think this is a great Oud, I would guess you haven’t actually smelled real Oud, maybe just a Western interpretation? It is completely inoffensive but don’t expect anything even remotely resembling an Oud forward fragrance. It’s actually just two notes to me. Amber and Sandalwood. It’s a lovely fragrance but not sure if it warrants the cost. I would buy a full bottle if I got a good deal on it.

MarkoPeeko

I really want to enjoy this scent, I really do. Picked up a sample today and I’m perplexed by its mysteriousness. The initial hit of wood is strong, but pleasurable to my nose. That’s when things take a turn shortly after. The dry down is strange. I can’t escape a plasticine smell no matter how hard I try.

That’s not a criticism of GA. It’s a criticism of my untrained nose. I get wood and rose in this. Lots of wood. Small amount of rose. Not much else.

This scent has taught me I need to understand and appreciate these darker, woodier scents more.

Middle of the road for now. I may wear this at the weekend and return to this review. Interested to see if anyone else picks up the plasticine / playdough vibe. Like I say - it’s an untrained nose speaking.

NoseE

rosy oud, sandalwwod with incense. alchoholish. quality fragrance. likeable, but ...

The Wolf

Tried this. SA told me it's Armani's take on Oud Wood. Doesn't smell anything like TF Oud Wood. But this is a beautiful western oud and the saffron and sandalwood is well done. Smells really great in the air.
Probably doesn't contain real oud unless it's been beaten into submission and tamed.
But ultimately I don't care, as long as it smells good and it's interesting.

This smells good but doesn't doesn't break new ground or do anything interesting.
But it smells great and I wouldn't hesitate to wear it again. For the price I'd probably choose something else.

8/10

moderndandy_swap

For me it smells like Parfums de Marly Habdan (mostly because of saffron), but much 'higher quality' and without typical PdM cloying sweetness.

Martin__

I actually like it very much, even considering buying it to join it to my collection. But - definitely not as an oud front centered scent. I own like 10 fragrances that still have much better presented oud than Oud Royal. So - why would I want this? It has a magical sandalwood note - that’s why! One of the best - if not the best presented sandalwood in a perfume - I dare to say it. What else comes out on my skin? Flowers - rose - to sweeten up the composition, spices - saffron which is presented very well. And some smooth incense as well.

Longevity on my skin is solid 10 hours, projection is medium.

I have to agree it is one of the better ones from whole Armani Prive lineup.

dr.gevic_vet

Wow....High quality oud .I think satisfy real oud lovers...
Scent of an enormous, mysterious eastern temple...
This scent gives you everything that you want from oud scents....High quality ingredients, well blended, perfect performance....Forget designers & many niche oud fragrances, buy that damn bottle & enjoy ...
only cons: price tag.
10/10

Jewelpaq

Wow, this is a fragrance that is extremely alluring. The oud is very friendly to the nose & being masterful blended with the saffron & rose with hint of incense, it comes off as a very expensive fragrance and it will make the wearer proud to be smelling so good.
I get a good 7 hours before turning into a skin scent for several hours more. Only one or two sprays and you are good to go. Silage and projection are very good, but not beast mode, as this is a more finer & luxurious fragrance. People will ask you what are you wearing and it will be an attention grabber.

Spiria88

Smoky, sophisticated, smooth oud perfected. That's it.

Shahram.yari

After acquintaince with armani prive by Myrrhe Imperial I was so enthusiast to test the Royal Oud because of its name which term"royal"stimulated my curiosity then highly praised description about it and it said to be that its the best from the line .
Soon After finding it which is hard to find in my country hence it is a blind buy , I found out the appriciations toward it,is not nonsense .
Its completely a class and pure quality to it that its expected from the Prive line according to other art works of it.
It is incensy and smooth .It is dark and gentle as well. Smocky saffron and creamy sandalwood on non skanky and in your face oud while rose shines it with slight touches.
It is one of the high quality oud scents and very well balanced that no notes overcome the others.
Masterpiece .

mikecch

An ancient, wooden temple in East Asia.
Agarwood and sandalwood rounded by incense and soft florals.
Very wearable oud with gentle projection/sillage.
The wearer is soft-spoken but confident, the scent brings peace in the noise of the city.
A good choice for an everyday oud.

rbalkris

Enchanting woody Oriental scent. The perfume opens with notes of saffron and incense. The heart is rose and amber. The perfume settles into a base of sandalwood and Hindi (non skanky) Oud. From it’s smoky opening to its sweet creamy luscious woody drydown this is a beautifully constructed scent that in spite of its clear Oriental vibes will have a very Western appeal. The masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Bliss in a bottle. Enjoy!

scentnerd

This one is great, one of the best of the Armani Privé line. It is not your typical rose-oud combination, it's very unique indeed. Opens with a nice spicy and dry saffron and then turns into a very comforting, warm and slightly dark woody scent. I don't get any rose and the oud just smells woody, nothing weird. The quality and the blend of the fragrance is incredibly good.

Nevertheless, i find it slightly overpriced for what it is. But on the other hand, there is no fragrance that comes close to the smell of Oud Royal. Zara's so called dupe is miles away from this one in relation to the quality, smell and longevity. Oud Royal is certainly not a very complex fragrance and sits very close to the skin. Longevity is good (8-9h) but you won't get a nice sillage. This fragrance is for someone who enjoys his fragrance for himself and also perfectly suited for the office. Oud Royal is extremely versatile - you can wear this all year around, maybe not in the high heat.

If you love this - like I do - go ahead and spend the money. This isn't a huge compliment getter and suits more a cultivated and grown up man.

Donkar

To my nose the main characteristics are spicy Saffron, Smokey Incense, old woods soaked in a bit of alcohol.
If you're familiar with many fragrances, you might find it a bit similar to other perfumes, and it was shamelessly copied by 'BDK parfums' ('Oud Abramad')
For people over 25+ definitely, leans more Masculine than Feminine. Projects alright and longevity is 7 hours for me.

As a side note - I think the Armani Prive line is some of the best I've smelled over the years...
Got a 5ml decant that is lasting me for ages! Good stuff

Doc2SmellGr8

I finally managed to get samples and took some time to test Oud Royal on skin against both Creed Royal Oud and Tom Ford Oud Wood. I love all three, but Armani Prive wins for me. It is a statement maker.

SirCharles

It's amazing how much this smells like a peated scotch. Like I feel like I'm smelling a straight up glass of Lagavulin.

Denzino

If anyone from EU wants to buy mine, or swap for something, i have a 250 ml flakon of oud royal to Trade. There is 245 ml left :)

ben805

This one is reminiscent of Tom Ford Black Orchid minus the Truffle. The "Oud" is very subtle and inoffensive, more wood than Oud really. Decent longevity with moderate projection and sillage. This is elegant and classy, great introduction to "Oud".

Make no mistake this is an entry-level synthetic faux Oud, if you want to know what real Oud smells like get some samples from Feel Oud or Ensar Oud. Real quality Oud oil cost a few hundred of US dollars for just 3ml, Don't kid yourself thinking you're smelling real Oud from this stuff.

Jareth

Makes me feel like an important Arab businessman when I wear it on a summer's day. A sharp, clean, powerful, aromatic and woody oud. Classy, expensive, perfect for evenings.

It's a masterstroke of blending - I can't tell where one part ends and the other begins. Utterly seemless. An almost astringent medicinal oud is first out the gate. Incense and sandalwood push it towards more of a aromatic woody direction - drier and with more zap - rather than being mellowed by the usual suspects of rose and saffron. I actually don't get much rose at all. Maybe the two of them sweeten everything a bit, give it some balance.

It has a similar overall vibe to Dior Oud Ispaphan but this Armani is drier, not quite as 'look at me' showy but still somewhere close. This is definitely not a shy, retiring fragrance. I don't get any of the faecal barnyard type of oud at all. This is much more mainstream and wearable. Maybe in between Oud Ispaphan and Gucci Oud Intense. Very, very nice.

FragLily

I gifted this to my boyfriend and he loves it! He wanted an oud scent and i liked this one more than Tom Ford Oud Wood for example. I also think the whole line of Armani Prive has a lot of amazing fragrances!

This fragrance is elegant but also bold and very interesting, maybe not for everyone but also not offensive.
Its definitely more masculine but I can also see a woman rock this, maybe i borrow it one day to try :)

On my boyfriend the projection in the beginning is very good but is getting closer to the skin quite fast although longevity is very good.

This scent is quite expensive - I was happy to get it on sale, but its definitely worth the price!

J.aomeke

The saffron and incense are heaviest note, don’t get discouraged of incense turns your stomach or eyes because it’s regulated in this scent. It’s also the sort of smell that would make people feel you’re wealthy... Heavy and moving compliments to you

jreily88

Very well done fragrance and currently becoming one of my favorites in the Prive line.

LordAventus

Ooft. Another example of Arabia caught in fragrance form. Every note listed is detected, with a shining powerful oud note that projects forever. Amazing.

CityGirl

This is not a fragrance for wall flowers and perhaps not to everyone's taste, not even to my own taste all the time. But when I'm in that mood, it's just sublime. It's a special occasion fragrance experience for me. Not something I would ever venture to wear by day. Smoky, sultry, intensely sweet but in an unusual kind of way. Aside from the fragrance, which I strongly think everyone should try even if it's so unique that it is sure to be not to everyone's taste, I'm impressed by the bottle. I'm not generally a bottle collector, preferring to recycle, but this is designed to perfection. I'll be keeping it. Silken finish, just the right weight, class and quality in every detail. Not that I would expect anything less for the price. This costs a pretty penny but delivers with an understated feeling of luxury in a bottle. The bottle is divine in the hand (unlike the likes of the Bond 9s that feel in the hand like little more than sparkly trinkets for guest bathroom toilets).

Diggi

The notes seem to be simple and spot on. It's oud and incense. Reminds me of jubilation after it dries down as it has that smoky incense characteristic like jubliation.

passionable_destiny

This is too strong for everone's taste.its strong oud can give headache to someone who is not use to strong perfumes no need to overspray this one has a good longevity, projection & sillage in my opinion. Its unisex but More on a musculine side.

FrankeDelight

I love this... Very rich and smoky. This stuff is 100% masculine but it wouldnt smell bad on a female either,i love it that much

Bare in mind I'm a 21 year old student, and for your own info, I don't really care, this is nice and I will wear it.I mostly wear casual-formal attires anyway so I this suits my fashion sense. Very excited about this one.

artpuff

It should be the best oud perfume currently in the market if you don't mind the rose. I am not a big fan of rose, but the oud in this one is exquisite. It can last for DAYS. I once tried this for a day, threw the cloth in the laundry pile, finally washed it with other clothes, and dried in a dryer with high height for ~2hr, but I can still smell it when I was folding that shirt. That also means you shouldn't apply this too much at once and you should avoid very hot weathers.

A year ago, I passed the perfume and went into the authentic oils for the best oud and santal. I've tried several decade-year-old (one is a 42-year-old) oils and I have to say that to appreciate those oils, you need courage and expertise. This one is the only one that I will use for oud (and Tam Dao is the only one that I will use to santal).

I really hope one day Armani will make a perfume focus on the oud per se without rose or anything else. Currently, the only decient one with the oud major note is the Extreme oud from By Kilian, but it has a very animalic salty after taste that I don't like. But if you also like rose, then definitly go for this one. You won't regret it.

Calvini

To this day, after the oversaturation of oud fragrances on the market, this is still unique and has its place. After dabbling in incense and heavier oud fragrances, I finally understood the intentions—It is the sum of the creamy sweetness from sandalwood, the dry smoke, and the leathery bitterness from (synth) saffron that creates the illusion of oud burning!

RENATOSP

Exqusite OUD fragrance. Not agressive or overpowering. Very elegant and sophisticated. The OUD shows up right from the start. I also get a black leather note and some incense. It does not project a lot, after an hour it seats very close to the skin. Eventually floral note emerges, maybe rose, but this is not your typical rose & oud fragrance.
I would say it is more of a masculine scent.

Hello there

I bought it. Before that I also tried Tom Ford Oud wood, Amouage Epic, Creed Aventus, Dior Perfume pour homme, Armani Acqua di Gio Profumo, Casbah, Molecule01, Terra de Hermes, Tundra Bunny Rouge

Oud Royal smells good. Not agressive but noticable from closer distance. Lasting time is undeterminable. Im losing feeling that Im under this perfume after two hour, however, i can still notice it unperiodically. Next 6-7 hours it is with stronger incense tone. In my opinion it is very good perfume which can be used anytime besides very hot summer. but in colder summer it is wearable as well.

0-2 hours - strong oud and saffron, with a bit of pepper
2-4 hours oud, sandalwood, pepper, incense, ambra lightly detectable
after 5 hours - till end- incense saffron pepper, light oud tone

My opinion is that it is very good with combination with Casbah as the Incense tone is multiplicated. Im using casbahs one spray to four of Oud Royal personally.

THE FRAGRANCE ARMANY WOOD OUD
IT IS LIKE A DREAM JUST ONE WORD PERFECT

olaniyirex

This is definitely not a casual scent, it's what I will wear to an academy award event or a black tie gala.
Again, rules are meant to be broken, I'm rocking this one casually and hope for the best. This is the fragrance I got the best and worst reactions from on the same day. It's a surprise to people smelling oud for the first time and a delight to connoisseurs. This is one to sample first before any attempt to buy.
For me, it's a top shelf fragrance that I pull out when I want to feel like the king that I am...lol...Oud like no other, light enough for nubie yet complex for an expert.
Mainly Saffron and Oud, garnished with some Sandalwood, Rose, and "itty-bitty" Amber notes. Wonder in a bottle.

AMajeedQT

I'm in between on this one.

Nice smell with a very good performance but is it really worth the price?

This is almost a dupe of Asghar Ali' Oud (the golden bottle spray EDP) but with an intensive sandalwood note that, for me, slightly ruins the scent's opening.

I was not very impressed initially, but as it dried down it became much better. The sandalwood took a back seat to the incense & saffron, giving a rich smokey oud scent & improving it drastically.

However, given the steep price & with the presence of very similar scents that might be better scent & performance wise for fraction the price, why should one go for this?

If you're looking for an oud like this, go for Asghar Ali's that has a more prominent oud note with about equal performance for, literally, 15% the price of Oud Royal.

ANNAFRYS

Good rich sell blended

rinma

Chic and strong, beautiful and sexy on a man, powerful and mysterious on a women.

scenturian

Well blended soft oud.
Slightly powdery and sweet.
Projection and sillage is average.
Can be good entry to the oud scents but the price tag is astronomic.

rvadati

Mystical and precious classy unique fragrance with characteristic of woody note, with leathery, smoky and animal accents. This smells like getting in a brand new Bentley or Mercedes Benz. The smell of the leather of a brand new car. The Oud is tamed very well in here and is definitely westernized, even though Armani says it is capturing the spirit of Eastern alchemy by elevating oud wood, but I see it more of a westernized tamed oud + saffron type of a fragrance. It is a gorgeous fragrance for the right event.

MuskyTusk

Whoa.

I have a little 1.5ml spray tester of the EDP Intense. I can't afford this stuff any other way.

It's way too potent to spray on. WAY too potent. When I wear this I barely nudge the sprayer until the tiniest drop of moisture appears, apply to my wrists then rub my wrists on my neck. That's enough for probably 6 hours with a few feet of sillage.

It's so dry. I see there's rose in the pyramid but I don't get any, it's all bone dry woods and incense. There's a sharpness for the first few hours that can get a little overwhelming if too much is applied.

My only issue with Oud Royal is that I rarely have a situation that calls for it. It's anything but casual. It demands at the very least a fresh haircut, a necktie and shined shoes, not to mention a crowd and/or occasion befitting such a regal aroma. In everyday casual attire, Oud Royal wears you.

But when it's fancy times and I'm dressed to the nines, Oud Royal is the perfect cherry on top. I'm not worthy.

:::EDIT:::

So I was idly sniffing my Oud Royal sprayer one day while wearing my old standby vintage Tabac EDC and got a tiny bit of OR on myself (which is all it takes). My wife FREAKED OUT in the very best way, "whoa, what are you wearing?!". She loved it. So I took a 1/2 dram glass vial, put in 4 full sprays of OR and topped it off with Tabac EDC, then let it sit for a few days.

I think I just made the best smelling accidental low-rent frag hack of all time. Good God... The smoky floral softness of Tabac is transformed into a pillow atop which the Oud Royal stretches out and starts giving orders. The dry sharpness of the OR predominates the overall scent even in the tiny concentration I used, but it doesn't have anywhere near the "spikiness" that OR on its own can display in the first few hours. It both tamed Oud Royal and gave Tabac a shot of class and almost aggression. It's no longer soft and comforting, it's large and in charge.

I guess I am worthy, then. "Tabac Oud" goes so perfect with my vintage brown leather jacket and Lucchese boots I feel like I'm a walking, talking 70's Scotch ad.

Love it

This smells like most western ouds on the market now. It is nice but not SHAZAM in the top or middle. It is soft with sandalwood, hint of saffron. Little tiny tartness in the drydown that nods to the animalic in the middle notes. It's soft and gentle like a wave of wood that dries as it cures. In the base, the soft, powdery amber takes over to remind me of Jul et Mad Amour de Palazzo.

Bottle from December 2016, purchased from a very reputable store here in the UK.

Such a disappointment. I had sampled this several times, loved it and finally decided to take the plunge. Scent-wise, it is in my top 5. Performance, out of the 29 scents I currently own... I'd rank it 29th.

Skin scent within an hour, gone within two. The wife, who can detect when I spray from the next room, couldn't detect after half an hour.

Very disappointing for the price. If you are after this go for an older bottle if you can, perhaps you might get better performance levels than I got!

Fragrance -Armani Privé Oud Royal
Bottle from - 2016

Oud Royal is a beautiful, woody, smoky, elegant, sophisticated and warm fragrance. It's well-blended scent(especially incense with pleasant oud and saffron),and i like him.

Longevity - 8/10(8+hours)
Silage/Projection - 8/10(nice projection for the first 2-3 hours)
Weather - best in autumn and winter
Age - 27+
Compliments - 8/10
Scent - 9/10

Main notes according to me - oud, incense, sandalwood, saffron, amber.

The drydown is nice and i get some woodiness, sweetness and incense.

Emotions -elegant,sophisticated,class.

Occasion -perfect for special occasions and formal events.

Could be a great signature scent. You'll get compliments with this one.

M. Shehryar

I have never been for oud thing for its harsh, suffocation and somehow under tone of feces like smell. But But But...what happened when I got the whiff of OR. Totally changed my mind about oud fragrance. Surely the oud in OR is like tipple distilled Vodka which is complemented by sandalwood and saffron to an extent of supper luxury level which is hard to believe the juice is man made. Although longevity and sillage are in moderate range vs price tag, even then the fragrance is still quit winning and deserves to be available all the time in my wardrobe. It is lovely and noble perfume which just suits the mature and responsible personalities of above 45.....

Foxysardar

I first smelled this fragrance back in 2013 and wanted to buy full bottle however I went to Armani Boutique in Dubai and bought Cuir noir :) Ultimately i bought this fragrance as its one of easier oud based fragrance to pull off . Some say there is hardly any oud in it which is not quite true !

This is quite simple well blended fragrance and I smell Sandalwood, Oud and Incense with touch of sweetness which may be combination of amber and Sandalwood i think . None of these notes are over powering each other which means blend is very good and projection is subtle . This is just like most armani prive fragrance which are very classy and upscale and i think can be worn to office also provided your personalty matches it.

Price of this fragrance is quite high however it available at lot of discounted sites so if you looking for oreintal fragrance but dont have a palette for skanky oud then this might be good entry point and this can be signature worthy fragrance also .8.5/10

AMajeedQT

Not very oudy. Sandalwood in the backbone & the foreground here. The oud is in the back along with the other notes.

I like it but it's not, in my opinion, worth shelling the asking price just because it is "Privé".

Ovaltine Jenkins

I like this, but the "oud" fades fairly quickly. What's left is incense with a hint of saffron. If it were priced like others in the regular Armani line, it would be full bottle worthy, although I would not put it in the oud section of my collection.

Cherry_Darling

Gorgeous. Woody oud with hints of smoke spice and sweetness from the amber. I can barely smell the rose which in my books is a good thing.

Miss LaCreevy

I never smelled oud, so I don't know whether this smells like oud or not. What I smell is a woody, rosy perfume, drying down (rather quickly) to woody, smokey saffron. There is no leather in my perception. It's refined and elegant.

bibiking

A straightforward insence and oud scent, well, quite oriental but not sophisticated at all.

I prefer amouage jubilation over this if considering oriental

jhericurls

These reviews are confusing.

I first tested this back in early 2013 and I remember the oud note being more prominent. I have a 2015 bottle and it smells more like sweet saffron water. Feels very watered down and weak.

On first application there is a light oud accompanied with a lot of alcohol. The oud fades super quick (under 20 mins) and makes way for a slightly smoky and sweet saffron. As it drydowns, it becomes creamier, similar to the creaminess of Bois d'Encens. Sometimes I also get a burnt resin accord like that from Myrrhe Impériale.

At retail it extremely over priced, even at half price would consider it expensive. Projection/sillage is very low, its very reserved.

amirali0072000

This is definitely a high class scent.
The base notes are all detectable and intertwined and delicious. especially the both gender's variant..Very interesting...I love it!

ZiZu

Tried this today (about 5 hours ago). For the first hour it was a strong incense and wood bomb. Then it mellowed to a sweet and smokey sandalwood and something dusty and earthy. Gorgeous! I just had a shower and it is still going strong. The temperature is over 35 Celsius and even though I walked in the hot streets it remained sweet and spicy. Not a feminine scent but nevertheless beautiful if you can pull it off. I am not all bows and ribbons, more like Lara Croft or Xena, the warrior princess so it suits me and loves my chemistry. The price is the major drawback.
Edited to add: 8 hours later and it is still very noticeable.

Taliera

UPDATE:
I bought this yesterday and am not disappointed. Such a high quality, smooth, sublime oud! Strong and intensive, but not crude. At least not to me... this beautiful fragrance is unfortunately not popular where I live. My dad thinks it smells like cat pee (or human urine) and my mum gets a tightness in her chest and asthma. My brother and sister simply hate this perfume. I feel like I live in the wrong country to appreciate Oud scents. Even though there is a large Arab population in Sydney, Australia, the majority of white aussies would probably find this offensive... wearing it on public transport at peak hour is like farting in public... it's antisocial. I don't work, because I'm a student at uni, but it's the same story there. The only exception is my Arabic language class... my teacher is from Iraq and some students come from Egypt, Syria and Afghanistan... it would make an interesting talking point. The only problem is my class lasts 1 hour, and this scent lasts 12!

UPDATE 2:
My Arabic teacher (male) did not give a mind-blowing reaction. He first asked me how much I paid, then said Oud is very expensive. Without even asking he sprayed it on his wrist, but then sniffed it and remarked that it smelled good.
My private Arabic tutor (also male) is from Lebanon. He did not comment about it, but when asked, he also said it smelled good. According to him, Lebanese aren't as mad-keen about fragrances as other Middle Eastern countries, such as those in the Gulf.

MrWonderfulxo

This was my first Armani Prive purchase and I have to say that I am quite in love. The Oud is lovely on my skin. This fragrance was my introduction to the Armani private collection fragrances. I would describe the fragrance as intense but sensual. Again this is based on my own body chemistry. Definitely a 9/10.

ConsumerThis

So I just got a sample pack of 5 Armani Prive line off the bay and this is one of them.
I get leather. To me, of course this is a first impression, but I get cuir ottoman by parfum d empire. Little bit of oud in the back to keep soft and sweet. It's smoothe, but not for me. All of these frags smell extremely well blended and of upmost high quality. There are two that have me on the maybe list, but this isn't one. Not the type of leather I enjoy. I enjoy the more leather wallet or leather jacket type of leather.

landshark321

Armani Prive's Oud Royal is another strong entry that's mainly ideal for colder weather, much like Rose d'Arabie.

Of the listed notes, I get mainly oud with a hint of rose, and perhaps some saffron and amber. Although it's not a listed note, I get a strong leather vibe together with the oud, and while both the oud and leather have their dirty sides, they're not so dirty here as to limit the sophistication of the fragrance.

As others point out, it's strong and rich but not overwhelming to the point of being off-putting. The possibility of this working for women seems remote to me, as this definitely strikes me as an implicitly masculine fragrance.

Performance is very good for an EDP in terms of both projection and longevity. Retailing at $290 for 100ml but almost 40% at Beautyspin, this could prove a winter signature scent that's relatively restrained and agreeable, and that's rendered somewhat affordable as opposed to the difficult retail entry price of the line.

This is my ultimate oud fragrance. It is a strong and rich oud, that is intensely pleasant and not too overwhelming. But before splashing out on a bottle of this liquid gold, I decided to do a full day test. Came home, and I couldn't stop laughing because my dad fanned his face, and said there was the smell of cat pee in the air, really, really strong. He blamed one of my cats (who has bad litter tray habits) for doing it over the side and walking in it. But I guessed it was probably my perfume, because it does have a sharp, astringent quality when you smell it from far away. After killing myself laughing I finally asked whether it was coming from my wrists. He smelled them, and agreed. I guess that is a noooooo...

Farouhaa

I hope they never discontinue this since it is unique in the market place. The closest to the actual scent of real Cambodian oud burning. It is extremely classy and totally unisex. Expensive? Yes, but you get quality in return. Very nice…

Calvini

This used to be my unparalleled favorite from the line; it's a well blended dry incense oud with sweet ambered sandalwood, much more sophisticated & sexy (not the dirty kind like Dior's Leather Oud) than the ultra-popular Oud Wood by Tom Ford, but it does have a sharp synthetic feel and a "forced" creamy undertone sometimes..

My new favorite is Encens Satin, which is a very comfortable scent without being boring :)

I just sampled this. Unmistakably an oudh scent, rather potent, but there's a strong alcohol accompaniment. It abates some into the dry down, but not fully. Overall, a disappointment for the price point.

Overall: 9/10
Simple. Straight Forward. Not so 'Oud' fragrance, but still, a wrothy player in my book.
Very Light and subtle oud gives way to the more powerful and warm undercurrents of amber, incense and sandalwood.
Warm and playful, but sits close enough to the skin to truly enjoy and become a personal favorite of mine.
I must admit I am tiring of the Rose/Oud combo's out there, but the 'oud' is so undetectable at this point that I don't really care when it comes to this particular juice.
Wonderfully unisex, plays very well with others!
Love this with a spritz of Comme Des Garcons Incense Series 3 Avignon on top, it really sends this wonderful fragrance over the top.
Light enough to wear to work, day or night use.

Oud Royal is a deep, warm and spicy elixir of agar wood, which is very popular in the Arab region. Agar is enriched with spicy notes of saffron, amber, rose, sandalwood and incense.

meama

there is even not a drop of oud but it's none less a good mix of incense-safran and santal. Nothing luxurious but easy anyway.

Oudy

This is the one. The dry, deep incense like smell that you could imagine being in ancient temples of learning and mysticism. This was the first bottle of oud perfume I purchased after falling head over heels for the note. The smell is like the bottle...black and gold...the smell of another time and place. In other words it transports you. I don't really know how to describe it. This is what Indiana Jones might smell like creeping around in lost tombs, perhaps, but also just as at home exuding from the collar of a 5000$ suit jacket. Oud wrapped in swirling incense spiced and tangled around saffron. The rose is very mute. A superior class act in my humble opinion and always gets the noses turning up as you walk past. The oud is sweet, not skanky and the sandalwood is amazing.

@turtle91 This Is Armani Prive collection and it is niche. It's not regular Armani(designer) collection, that's why it's so expensive :)

turtle91

I have a tiny vial of this. Finally I know how oud smells like, and I would say it is a very aromatic, incense-like smell reminiscent of the middle east. I'm in love with this perfume but the price astounds me! it is more expensive than Annick Goutal perfumes. I thought it wouldn't be this expensive because Giorgio Armani seems to be a designer brand. This perfume smells niche, however.

MizT.R.-Tea

This OUD, is my favorite OUD . It is a classy treat to the senses, without being over the top .

1nov

I received this as a gift .. I don't like oud fragrances but all my friends and family members love it and they say it smells luxurious . it's very heavy and I think it should be used for special occasions..
I don't think oud scent is good for young people or people who prefer fresh light scents .. but if you are 30+ years old and like heavy oriental perfumes this might be good for you .

joov84

a balsamic, woody, smoky, dry fragrance

this is one of the best western oud fragrances. however, it smells very middle-eastern. the oud is not medicinal. one might describe it as rubbery. it has just the right amount of amber and saffron to give it a bit of sweetness and spiciness. the incense is predominant but not overbearing. the sandalwood is dry and smoky but not creamy. the fragrance feels almost powdery in the drydown. projection and longevity are average.

8.4/10

christianne1

This starts off with a predominant sandalwood note on my skin and I love sandalwood so that is a great thing. Then it settles down into more of a spicy classic oud that smells very nice but leans far too masculine for me to comfortably wear myself. Rose d'Arabie is more my speed.

Oud Royal has a bit of that medicinal gasoline oud thing going on in the beginning but it settles down. I am not getting the beast mode longevity as others, after about an hour it is fairly timid on me. Unless it is so strong I am going hyposmic a bit. I am a victim of that little problem.

I wouldn't mind at all smelling this on a man. But for myself, I would feel a bit uncomfortable because it seems a bit masculine for my personal tastes.

maani

Royal Oud is very elegant scent, very intense.. For the first 2 hours ,its strong oud fragrance but after that 2hours time ,the dry down is well blended combination of oud, very nice ,best scent for MATURE people .those who like Oud scents, then Creed Royal Oud is nice choice and definitely Privé Oud Royal is best

maani

you should be Oud lover to use this best Oud fragrance, very nice strong but soft after some time

scentdoctor

its a nicely done oud fragrance, very dry and because of how dry it goes on the skin it doesnt project as well or have a longevity for longer than 4 hours.

Yehoshua@me

This juice definitely has leather in the start but a very elegant transmission of it : I get jubilation XXV meets LADDM and WonderWood but far more refined and Boy this Stuff has the Arabian Middle Eastern vibe in it's infrastructure and it delivers The Arabian Peninsula In a bottle...The incense is similar to jubilation's XXV but with sandalwood and Oud wrap around it like a fine silk robe covering it and the woodiness DNA of CDG WonderWood and envelope in hyped up spices From a Bazaar in Saudi Arabia with a mix of cedar and woodnotes that to a limit resembles LADDM , this is felt through out its beautiful life and it resonates like an Echo in the Grand Canyon ....can and only say Armani Nail the AraBic Vibe in this one and I do have ties to the Middle East btw especially Yisrael.....unfortunately on me it gets four hours of heavy duty projection and thereafter it becomes a low projecting scent that descents to a very close knit factor till the 14-16 hr but nevertheless it gets the job done as I only need 6-8 hrs as the scent bubble is withheld to its entirety and progressively becoming lesser as fore mentioned but initial burst of takeoff is where is at and just wish it stood there for its entirety....5 out 5 star from me on this Gorgeous Scent.....Peace and GodBless

yazounet

I have just purchased this perfume and God I love it!!
First of all, the perfume is very dry. What you smell is sandalwood and oud boom the rest is a great melange.
First spray I got sandalwood all around me and after 5 seconds there was this beautiful smokey oud with incense. Actually incense is not at all dominant! Of course it is a smoky fragrance but not something like cdg2 man or Sahara noir. Anyways I love the fact that there's no rose well nearly not inside. Whoever invented that gross rose oud combo should kill himself :) rose kills everything in woody fragrances IMO. I don't find the bottle cheap at all. Of course it has a plastic cap but come on. Why would I pay extra for a metal cap. It's good it is plastic. I think vaporisateur is very good. Not cheap as someone else mentioned below. So that's it. Buy it if you like some Arabian good perfumery. I would never ever buy this fragrance if I was a girl. It is smelling gentleman. Well a wealthy sexy gentleman lets say. I don't know if it is because of the money I spent on it, but this smells high quality. Really.. On these days where every girl and boy are using black orchid Asa. Signature scent. I am f**ing going for this to be my signature

I've been sniffing and trying on the Armani Oud Royal in the perfume store for a while now because it's a very interesting scent. It has that arabic vibe to it which is different from anything else I've smelled, but IMO it's more male appropriate, hence I would not buy it for myself. But I do know that this is good for layering with other scents (especially from the PRIVE collection), because it just adds something different. I find this delicious in combination with other fragrances, but not by itself.

Marciu

What I absolutely love in Oud Royal is that it's not sweet at all, so different than the other perfumes containing oud.
It's a dry, dark, woody (oud), smoky fragrance. It actually fits to my imaginations of a perfect woody scent. It was definitely love at first sniff, I guess this one was the first from the Armani Prive line that I sniffed. To simplify what it is I could say that it's oud and incense. But I won't do that. Why? Because it's much more complex, can't really explain it, but it is.
Saffron spices it a little bit, on the flipside - sandalwood and amber make it a little softer. I don't get the clear rose note on my skin though...
It lasts easily 15 hours on me, sometimes more. Like others from the Prive line, it projects like mad, so two sprays are OK.

Houdini4

This is a re-review due to my silly nose and it's habit of making hasty decisions on my behalf.
Having subsequently tried MFK OUD and Armani Royal Oud against each other in a more comparative and comprehensive trial. I must confess they are not that alike really.
I'd sniffed out many Oud fragrances that day and this just chimed with me as being like MFK...without knowing what was in it.
When I raced back to check the notes after the first time I tried them, I felt vindicated and quite pleased with my olfactory skills as I'd identified a similarity that I put down to them both containing saffron.
This one is much smokier than the MFK for a start and the saffron is far less prominent. All of these are characteristics that I love in perfume so I actually really like this one judged on it's own merits.
If you're a fan of the smokey incense type fragrance then this is not a bad choice I'd say.
update: The more I wear Oud Royal the more convinced I am of it's worth and the more my faith is instilled in the Privé line as a whole. It's not as vivid with oud as the MFK in fact this smells more of a vaguely woody, synth material and sandalwood note but with such a choice of ouds out there why choose this one? Well because it's awell put together fragrance!

I am a sad little fragrance fan right now...I tried this (there were so many great reviews) and was so excited to experience it......and I am very sorry to say that on me, this fragrance smells like burning tires. I am not exaggerating. I wore it all day, hoping it would transform into something other than "burning tires" but it did not. After about 4 hours, it just smelled sour, and I actually developed a little headache, which is something that has never happened before for me. For those of you who can wear this, I salute you. I was just reminded by a fellow member that my review did not match the status this perfume has in my wardrobe.
This is because after some time, the cheese smell stopped coming around! I can't say if it was just my nose at the time, or the perfume itself has settled, but it's a beautiful perfume that I will do a revised review on soon.

My feelings in the presentation have not changed, so here is what I think.

One huge disappointment was the presentation. The box is very thin cardboard. Very minimal pattern printed on it. Gold Armani Prive sticker on the front of it.
The Bottle is paint sold black. You need a high power flashlight to barely see the liquid. Cheap plastic armani sticker on the front. That beautiful cap you see in the pictures is not metal like youre probably thinking. Its plastic.
Lastly, in the box you will find a small cloth. I have no idea what its for. But they didn't even bother stamping the Armani logo on it.

The sprayer is below average.

Please SAMPLE THIS first! DO NOT BLIND BUY!

As I said with FK Oud the other notes really complement and make it shine...The same is true of this wonderful Oud scent. Even though there is oud in the title it’s largely a resinous sandalwood.
Smells incredible though, great stuff from Armani.

zabboud

For me, its is the best OUD Fragrance you can have I tried so many other but all of them I found a strange smell on it after a while except Armani Priv Oud Royal,

Anyone interested in a swap let me know. This stuff is just too strong and heavy for me. Bootle is full, only I spray out of it and still have box. Pm me if interested. I live in US.

Oh my, I was just online looking at Nieman Marcus and they are now selling this! Just ordered, on back order for a few weeks but can't wait to try this.

Edit. Very linear scent and ALL oud! A very strong oud at that. Doesn't compare much to any other scent I can think of, it does stand on its own. Again though, I'm not really picking up any other notes here. I like it but its very strong and heavy. Might try and experiment with mixing with a lighter scent, maybe M7, to lighten it up a bit.

Duver

I smell class and wealth in this. In cooler weather it is gorgeous.

Chiggy

Quite possibly my favourite perfume. It just smells absolutely fantastic. Its a bit strong at first but settles down and smells divine!

I'm fairly new to the Oud market, although I do have the M7 Absolu, Oud & Bergamot by Jo Malone and a very traditional irish oud blend I bought from a little boutique in dubai. Oud Royal is definitely the pick of the bunch though!

Highly recommended!

Here is another quality fragrance from Armani Privé - always quite simple but also so perfect!
The agarwood here is very very warm, a little bit dry, animalic and not so strong, making the other notes come alive and show their accords too.
Sandalwood here is well blended with incense (not so strong), making a deep fragrance of luxury and also quite simple.
The amber here is very soft and appearing most of the dry!
Good one!
:)

No doubt the sandalwood being used is superb quality; however, the sandalwood is masking all the oud, saffron, amber and rose as well.

Not really like 24 gold, which is very much sweeter. The Armani Prive blend is more dry and, if anything, has a dry down that is very similar to Dirty English.

The opening is wonderful, with a floral, almost citrus-like sharp note. After 3-4 hours this settles to a delicate, more dry, version of Dirty English. For me the opening is far more interesting and I would have preferred this to the later stages of the scent. I will also say that this does last a long time. Unlike Creed, I have noted that the special lines from the likes of Dior or Van Clef or Armani lost a long time. A bonus if you are paying £180 for a bottle!

This is a great Oud perfume, beats any Montale. BUT dont buy unsniffed and dont buy unless you have sprayed it on your skin. This is very strong and it lasts a long time. It was only 2 hours after that I got the happy ending. Use with caution. VERY strong for the first few hours. After 4 hours, its there but in a different way - smells like Grey Flannel. woooooooooo this is beautifully made !

kida2010

If people dont think this is any good they need to analyze this a bit more, not sure its worth £180 but my god its a good scent.
Personally i think this has to be the ultimate Oud scent ive come across, i like M7 but after a while i do find it a bit powdery and cloying. This just avoids those qualities and i love it.
It's smooth, balanced, sexy, and has this overall quality to it that almost makes it worth the price tag. I get to spray it quite often on the way to work so i dont think i'll have to buy it lol.
Definately worth checking out.

This is just.. very Arabic! I love it!! I don't want to say you have to be an Arab to appreciate this, but maybe you'd understand it better. It just makes me so homesick!

crgrice

Oud, oud and ... oud. What more can I say? The high notes tend to roll off quite a bit while the middle notes seem to be hidden behind the overly muddy bass notes. Was not very impressed with the presentation and staging of the combined notes. I would liken it to the Sennheiser HD800 which really lack overall clairity.

PS. How do I get the balloons?

MASTERPIECE!

This is my first review here. I can tell I have tried a lot of parfum in my young life of 30 now. Also I worked in a sensory lab for a short time and my nose is mostly very sensitive to some smells and odors.
Seeking again and again for a Winterfragrance like every year I found this Masterpiece. Oud is trendy today I know...so I tried 7 different Niche Oud Parfums on the market and only Tom Fords Oud Wood I kinda liked soso until I found OUD royal in Hamburg for 210 € after i read some raving reviews. I fell in love with the sample and in Berlin I had the chance to grap it for 190€ again but I still waited cause I am a broke student right now and bought Molton Brown ROGART before(fantastic, rarely composition of a fresh wood Scent). In Amsterdam for 150€ I got crazy and paid for it after all. Even tho I own a lot of Niche parfums and always push me back buying more I couldnt resist. For everyone who likes it woody and warm this is the scent to go, iI get the OUD, Amber and less Incense, stays quite long on clothes. On my skin it is getting sweeter. My top No.1 after 5 years of seeking. Highly recommend to all OUD Lovers out there. I think it is the best in its Category. Armani please dont let this discontinue! BRAVO!

Royal Oud is a very intense scent, but at the same time very elegant, like the others perfume belonging to this series.

Bravo Giorgio Armani!

This perfume leaves no one indifferent. It is strong, bold, woody oriental perfume, that takes very animalistic sexyness on my skin. It is even kind of shamelessly dirty on me. I've got comments like 'you could cause car crash on the street with that'. It is an oud perfume, which I think is not too popular amongst young girls, yet my friend, who's 4 years younger than me and loves mainstream crap likes this very much. That kind of says it - it's likeable and expensive smelling. I get mostly agarwood and spices/incense. It lingers on clothes for a long time. On skin it opens up brilliantly, it's a true aroma of oriental fairy tales. He, he... I'm glad we have it in our store, but again, it also has a luxurious price. Though, this is worthy investment.

Migotka

A few of my friends claim that it is one of the best scents that came out last year and among the oud fragrances, it is also the most interesting scents.

I am not a massive fan of oud, but I can appreciate it. And it is a scent where oud is really out there in the foreground, not covered with roses and other additions. Bold, beautiful, strong. Other elements in this puzzle: amber, rose and incense, are only there to embellish it, not to overtake.

The scent is very smooth, a little thick, like a magic potion, and very, very woody. Nor raw wood, but polished and elegant, refined. A really good addition to the oud-inspired fragrance family.

This is truly Masterpiece I’m a fan of Oud fragrances and I have a lot of them
Such as YSL m7, Tom Ford Oud Wood, Montale Black Aoud, Comme des Garcons Wonderwood, Arabian Nights, etc. But nothing .. I mean nothing can beat this gorgeous stunning piece of art!
If you like Oud fragrances, in fact even if you hate Oud perfumes, this one will change your Opinion forever!
This is truly royal and makes me feel special, sexy, sophisticated, and unique.
On the first day that I wore this perfume, I received compliments from three different guys at the college who asked me what amazing perfume I’m wearing!
The same thing happened at home with my family!
In short this perfume is from deferent planet!

My Humble rating: 1010

Parfumista2010

Yesss, I finally could get my hands on this wonderful scent - after searching a possibility to buy it and after numerous inquiries to London, Paris and here in Germany (where, b.t.w. OR is not available at all) for about 6 months.

It is a dark, warm and spicy-woody scent. Cosy and yet unisex. Unsweet but not manly. Ambery but not too much on the feminine side. Wonderfully balanced with all its oud notes, spices (cardamamom, cinnamon, saffron) and the sandalwood-incense combo.
This oud is NOT harsh or medicinical as you know it from Montale. It has a slight rubbery note, yes, but it vanishes after the head note. Oud is always a rather special thing, you either like it or not and if you are into the stuff you might really enjoy OR.

To be frank, in the beginning OR very much reminds me of Ambre Sultan/S.Lutens and in the drydown I find bits of Black Cashmere/D.Karan but these are only fragments of a beautiful "flying carpet" (considering scents fly in the air and that this perfume should depict 1001 magical nights).
These herbal notes haunt me - this was totally new to my nose. The further the drydown develops the warmer and spicier OR becomes. After some hours I noticed a mild peppery note which I like a lot.

Very longlasting (it´s an EdP intense, whatever that may mean in detail) on my skin and with medium sillage only (so you could wear this during daytime).

The only downpoint (besides the price) is its limited, very limited, availability. You must either have great connections or a patient mind to get it.

I am very much enjoying my happy ending on this one.
