Instantly reminded me of REM Reminiscence.
It's very unisex, leaning way more masc than I imagined it'd be, and too masc for me to wear everyday.

Ayman Abdelhameed

Why you don't putting the full ingredient, i want to know the Secret of this Magic ✨💫

Msala140

My most favorite aquatic - marine fragrance . It’s so fresh and cooling, a spray of cool sea water while paddleboarding around some islands with a lot of woods. It has a semi sweet element almost like a fresh semi sweet mintiness . Leans a bit masculine but it’s beautiful

D@ne

I quite like this - but I could never wear this in public. Having lived through the 90s aquatics, it's just too soon. I need more time to get over the onslaught of L'Eau d'Issey et al. The only scent that makes me self-conscious. But very good.

tvsick

I was on a flight from Paris to London and got a whiff of something incredible as the flight attendant walked past me. I asked her what perfume she was wearing and she went and grabbed her bag and let me try it on. I went and purchased it as soon as I got to Heathrow! Salty and woody and sultry, while still being light and fresh. A dream fragrance! The bottle is so pretty with subtle sparkles and is a joy to use.

katie02kat

Very nice aquatic perfume, soft and pleasant summer scent, I get so many compliments when I wear this perfume 🧡

CatOwned

Very nice beach/marine smell! Probably my favorite that I've smelled in this scent category.

whatare3

I'm a guy and purchased this after a recommendation from a sales associate at a store. I feel it's a very unisex scent that is fresh and airy.

sobbok

Been wearing this for the past few days and I'm completely in love. Scent-wise it leans quite masculine but it's so light that I can even spray it after a shower and feel so sparkly and clean. It's also quite long-lasting, stays very strong on clothes and projects well. It's definitely worth considering a full size bottle.

linga_jang

Scent of Mermaid princess or prince
Very cool
I think it's similar with LV afternoon swim

LaContessina

So lovely! it's basically Eau des Merveilles without the heavier orange and orange blossom part.
Bleue is freshier, has a marine slightly salty feel without being too aquatic, has the dry woods, feels like a happy, relaxed summer.
In fact, I'm wearing it today and am dressed in light blue. A perfect match!

Paintedtrillium

After trying many, this is the only aquatic scent that I have ever actually loved. It smells like standing on the deck of a beach house on a small barrier island with natural beach shore with few neighbors but plenty of juniper and beach pebbles with the fresh sea breeze carrying the most natural and beautiful scents. I love it! There is an abandoned barrier island I’ve been to that only allows a limited number of day visitors. You hike across from one boat launch to another on the opposing shore. This scent is very reminiscent of the fresh smell of that pristine place.
7.5 hours later and I can still smell this fragrance. The dry down is very pleasant. I still get a sea salt mineral scent along with the patchouli. Nice!
And the bottle- GORGEOUS- the most beautiful in my collection. It is way prettier in person than pictures.
I am at 8 hours of wear and this perfume’s scent just keeps getting better. This is going to be a summer easy reach for me. Delicious! 🤤

This is the latest description of it at the Hermès webstore:
“OLFACTORY NOTES
The mineral, woody eau de toilette blends bright juniper berry, warm patchouli and salty pebbles on the seashore.

BOTTLE
Designed by Serge Mansau, the star-spangled magnifying-glass bottle twinkles with a blue radiance. The top of the spray is engraved with the House's Clou de Selle seal.

THE EAU DES MERVEILLES CONSTELLATION
The fourth opus of Hermès' Merveilles collection, Eau des Merveilles Bleue offers a new perspective on the collection with a promise of surprise and freshness.

Olfactory emotion: Fresh, Delicate
Main raw materials: Juniper berry, Patchouli, Mineral stone”

I'm obsessed with it, I've been using it for so many years now and its one of two perfumes I keep repurchasing, the other being the Hermes Eau de Merveille EDT. I absolutely ADORE this line

belle99

this says one thing to me, the beach, it has the salty beach sea smell, its gorgeous

FreyjaEudaimonia

Beautiful, fresh, classy, clean, summery. I love this perfume. It is very unique, and got me so many compliments. The bottle is gorgeous! Can't wait to repurchase.

HannahRosesAreRed

I slept on this for a while because I wasn't super impressed by the notes listed here. Wood, patchouli and marine notes sounded a little dull for my tastes. However, I caved in and tested this, and realized how wrong I was. Yes, Eau De Merveilles Bleue is a very simple fragrance, but it's so much more than advertised. This really is a fresh, alluring, mature and marine scent. It behaves differently on fabric than it does on skin (or my skin, at least). When I spray it on myself, the driftwood is more prominent, with a hint of natural, aromatic and herbaceous patchouli. The marine notes read more as sea air rather than straight sea water, not too salty. On my t-shirt, I detected the sea smell more, along with some cooler, green spicy notes. I picked up juniper berries and a hint of mint. It brings to mind rocky coasts littered with driftwood.

Overall, very nice. Eau De Merveilles Bleue is a clean, no-nonsense and fresh easy reach, especially in the dry heat. It performs very well for a fresh, aquatic fragrance. I saw a shimmer of oil where I sprayed (always a good sign), and it clung to my skin for a good six hours. I kept getting whiffs of it when the breeze came through my window, or when I turned my fan on. A great, foolproof choice. I could see this being worn to work or just casually, or as a bedtime scent. It's also a good unisex choice. The sweet, air-dried laundry musk of the drydown skews feminine in my opinion. But then again, I bet it would smell pretty fab on a dude. The bottle is also stunning and begs to be out on a vanity, desk or tray.

athpolitou

I was on a hunt for the perfect aquatic, vacation-y, summer fragrance yesterday and this seemed perfect on paper. First impression upon spraying this was, wow this is too masculine and AXE-y. As it lingered on the skin, I started to see some complexity but every time I sniffed my arm all I got was "airport". I read on another review here that this smells like the duty free section at the airport and this is SPOT ON. My other thought was "Aqua di Gio" but overall too masculine for me (and I am actually into unisex smells but this was too much). The drydown was not bad however, the scent became much more palatable as it softened.

gourmandgirly3

such a beautiful classy clean perfume i have no words, i feel so refreshed everytime i spray it it's my favourite aquatic scent and even though i am a gourmand girly i wear it so much. it's a compliment magnet, sillage is enormous, extremely long lasting and imo it's more feminine leaning. this is the smell of clear fresh water

Htheone

Definitely feminine. Beutiful clean scent with enough sweetness. I love it!

Random Spirit Lover

Like the rest of the merveilles line I find this unisex leaning slightly feminine. I am 40yo male and absolutely love the EdM DNA… own and wear all of them regularly (well, I haven’t tried the eau claire flanker yet).
Anyway, I find this to have more in common with l’ombre de merveilles than the original, which I guess is understand considering they are Christine Nagel’s two contributions to the line.
But still that magical salty driftwood aquatic thing runs through this. It isn’t as sparkly or citrusy as the original, it has a sour facet and is sharper. It isnt heavy and borderline cloying like the Elixir version.. there is little sweetness here.
As expected, this one is the saltiest and most aquatic… to me the original Eau De Merveilles is the impression of some rugged, isolated fantasy beach, strewn with driftwood.. with this you’ve drifted a little ways off shore and submerged yourself.

saekki

it's so crazy that they were able to package the exact smell of the duty free fragrance section at the airport into one perfume

Subhuman

I came of age smack-dab in the Aquatic Renaissance of the '90s, when seemingly every other bottle of scented alcohol on the shelves had some sort of watery-fresh accord; usually loud and crude, and to my nose, immensely tiresome. I've spent my entire adult life avoiding blue bottles of cologne, like a vegetarian looking for one restaurant in town that doesn't wrap everything in bacon. Until now, apparently. Eau des Merveilles Bleue is an unusually accomplished and artful aquatic, composed by the mercurial Christine Nagel, a perfumer seemingly hell-bent on deconstructing and reinventing familiar tropes like a mad scientist in calfskin boots.

Relying on salty-skin and solar citrus accords, along with mineral notes and airy patchouli, Eau des Merveilles Bleue conjures ocean waves and sea breeze without once evoking your uncle's Cool Water or Aqua di Whatever. This stuff is also the most unisex of an essentially unisex line - it takes the original's sunkissed woody amber and makes it even brighter and cleaner, with a starched musky base and zero sugar. If you stand back and squint, you can almost see this as a modern take on the aesthetic of Estée Lauder’s White Linen. Crisp, soft, dry, cool, unpretentious, reliable, wearable, easy. It’s summer staple material. I like!

P.S.: I don’t normally fuss over packaging, but this might be my favorite perfume bottle ever. Photos don’t do justice to the already lovely Merveilles vessel washed in luminous azure. It feels criminal to keep it hidden in a drawer, so I have it sitting pretty on my coffee table as an easy reach and a quirky objet d’art. Now if only I had a beach house… 🌊

Elfin Will

I'm not sure what to think about this perfume:

- First of all, I'm sure it contains much more than just marine notes, woody notes, and patchouli. I clearly smell citrus; grapefruit especially!
- Moreover, I don't find it totally feminine. For me, it is rather unisex. On my skin, it turns out exactly like Armani's "Aqua Di Gio" EDT (of my man).
- I find it done in a rush. It lacks the sophistication, signature of Hermes, that the original "Eau des merveille" and its variants have.
- (Very personal opinion) It is too fresh for me who likes warm and mysterious perfumes. It has nothing "marvelous" (as the name inspires) that makes you dream.

That said, this perfume is not bad, but not really my cup of tea. I much prefer the other flankers!

7/10

Samanthabdel

This is SO good. Lasts all day on me too! What a gem.

catcat42

woody marine done well. Very weak though..Was lost after an hour on my skin..There is some sweetness in this too I almost am tempted to say amber. Very lovely and unique. I wish I could discover more like this. Its a fresh breath of an ocean.

Advaitaforever

The opening is a gorgeous, authentic and refreshing marine. However, it suddenly dries down to a Tonka, patchouli accord that is reminiscent of the original and leaves the fragrance a little nondescript. It's an appropriate choice for a sweltering summer day but it isn't very creative. I agree with the mention of a spicy ginger note paired with lemon. This fragrance doesn't have heart or life infused into it. It's like a last minute flanker with a great concept but lacking in execution imo.

Tony Shades

A very cozy comfy clean crystal clear mountain lake sort of fragrance. I wouldn't call it beachy aquatic or oceanic marine, because it's too clean for that.

ekrapf

I got a small sample of this to try since I generally like marine scents. To me this is definitely masculine, although I could see it maybe being considered unisex by some. I’m surprised to see this listed as for women because to me this really is a more of a man’s fragrance. It smells marine woody just not how I expected. I don’t expect to finish the sample, and I won’t order a full size sample as this scent is just not for me.

cheringer

Aquatic and fresh, but also long lasting and powerful, which doesn’t happen very often with these types of EDT scents. It’s not a super feminine fragrance, it’s definitely unisex. It actually leans more towards masculine to me, and that’s what I love about it. I was searching for something like this for summer for quite a while. I love my boyfriend’s aquatic fragrances (well, I like almost all masculine aquatic fragrances), but didn’t really want to smell like him. So I am pretty happy I found Bleue!

Anton Constantinou

A fresh fragrance that’s surprisingly well suited for cooler months. Evokes a feeling of being close to water in autumn or winter when the sky’s blue but it’s nippy outside. Makes me think of a breezy, optimistic man in a sail-striped seaside home on the British coast.

Paramlr

I expected something watery and aquatic kinda like Sailing Day Replica. It’s not like that at all. It’s very woody and has a very noticeable patchouli and a touch of saltiness that makes it smell kinda (just a little) dirty to my nose but somehow still refreshing, pleasant and not at all heavy. A very cool scent! Perfectly unisex

Baroqu3

Signature scent worthy!
Can be worn in any weather! It’s minus 6 here today and I am wearing it as my scent of the day and it’s projecting nicely!

The actual notes on Hermes website: Olfactory emotion: Fresh, Delicate
Main raw materials: Juniper berry, Patchouli, Mineral stone

Its such a beautiful, elegant, luxurious and well put together fragrance!
Fresh, clean, sweet juicy but not soapy nor musky nor perfumey.
There’s definitely a fruit here somewhere green apple or melon or both blended perfectly forming the sparkling, juicy, fresh, crisp but light sweetness. A little woody in the base but not dry infact far from dry.

Couldn’t possibly offend anyone and it lasts on skin all day and though not loud, it definitely projects. Will repurchase!
12/10 as it projects and lasts all day plus it’s sweet and juicy and the mineral note makes it so interesting.

Stimul

Not blind buy recommended. This is more masculine than one could have expected.
I would easily mistake it as sharp masculine if I do not know what I have.
Wrist test is not enough. You need couple of days full wear test.
Hermes Classics. Bleue is style that makes you feel expensive and for its group of summer edt it is really long lasting. However as if created in a rush indeed.
Love 💙 Maybe... I love you but I cheat.
What I personally dislike is the prominent mass market patchouli at the last and very long stage but I suppose thit is what makes it an extremely durable edt. On me this edt lasts forever.

Very polarising scent. Yes and No. Do I keep it or Do I see it off??
A must have for big collection. Think three times if you are curator.

medusa666

This is unisex, if not masculine, marine scent which smells annoyingly cheap as it dries down.

viktorijavla

Smells very fresh, like a sea or ocean water but without any saltiness.
Not long lasting, but perfect for a very hot summer day.

joliecat

Oh, I love this one ! Perfect little lightweight cooling refresher for summer heat. On my skin, Hermes Eau Des Merveilles Bleue starts out with a sudden cold metallic blast, then instantly settles to a sweet soft wintergreen scent. Wintergreen is my favorite of all mints. It has a natural sweetness to it. Fresh, uplifting, cooling and completely pleasant, non offensive, perfect for office. Great for all ages. Lasts about 6 hours, wearing very close to skin after about one hour. Salty seawater note is faintly present. A touch of minty patchouli and light dry woods keep the perfume from being too candy sweet. Nothing beachy here, but enjoyable. Extremely over priced, but sometimes you have to invest in a scent you feel was made "just for you". I'll be wearing this oddball fragrance a lot during the hottest summer days.
If you prefer a more feminine version of this Hermes fragrance, try Kate Spade Truly Dazzling. It's a lot more affordable, too.
Recently discovered another much lower priced niche designer's perfume that smells just like this one, but less sweet. It's called Sea Salt by Royal Apothic, from their Heritage Collection. You can find it on Royal Apothic Perfumes website.

martel.308

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This perfume is exactly what I've been searching for. Fresh, aquatic, and beachy. It feels warm without being overbearing.

The blend of notes, from first sniff to deep into the dry down, is perfect. I was worried about the licorice note some people mentioned (I usual dislike it), but it works so well here.

I'm a light sprayer, to avoid headaches and being overbearing to others, but this still has great longevity!

Eau de Merveilles Bleue will be on my shelf for a long time, and I look forward to exploring this Hermes line further in the future.

brand117

Easily one of my top 10 fragrances, and I don't normally like aquatics. It's fresh and marine with a bit of star anise / licorice to it. At first I was turned off by it because it almost reminded me of a chlorinated pool, but I was very quickly entranced by it- so many memories brought back. It lasts a surprisingly long time on me, too, and is quite unique.

Enrium

Much as I love the Eau de Merveilles range and Christine Nagel as a nose in her own right, EdMB isn't it for me. A very simple aquatic marine scent, it is barely there - fresh and subtle, but underwhelming.

EdMB opens with a refreshing, slightly salty accord reminiscent of a sea breeze. I get a hint of something akin to melon, adding a hint of fruity freshness that gives a lift, keeping the salty opening from becoming sweat-like on skin.

As it develops, some damp, woody notes and a faint hint of patchouli add some dirtiness, bringing to mind the seaside with seaweed and wet rock. It becomes a tiny bit rancid on my skin after a while however, and fades to nothing after a little while. Sillage is subtle and longevity is moderate.

A good rendering of a sea breeze/marine scent, this is perfectly unisex and more wearable than others in this category. Still, it leaves me fairly underwhelmed - it doesn't smell of a luxury resort to me. It has its moments, but I would buy Un Jardin Sur le Lagune instead. 2.5/5.

Barforsea

To my nose, there is no patchouli. It isn't salty, but it can remind me of the fresh ocean breeze or sea water.
The gentle, fresh and clean smell is just similar to a sense of coolness in bathroom after brushing teeth, so it can also remind me of a bathroom of a bright and clean beach resort. Yes, I totally agree with the comment below. It is just like a vacation.

Marisa36

Love at first sniff. Difficult to describe. I don’t find it to be very masculine. I would say it’s similar to Wood Sage & Sea Salt, one of her other creations as far as feminine/masculine goes. It smells like an island holiday/spa/luxury lotion. Very relaxing and the perfect summer scent if you don’t like suntan/coconut/frangipani smelling fragrances or anything citrus for that matter. Doesn’t hurt that it’s such a beautiful bottle either. Well worth a try.

sn9061

The scent was very aquatic and fresh when I sampled it. Does not seem it will last long, but will have to try it on the skin.

Roos88dutch

Best summer fragrance ever ! It’s so fresh clean feminine and comforting I love it . I smells like a vacation . Like sitting on the balcony in a luxe hotel after a nice shower . When you can see and smell the sea .

Comicalcupcake

This matches the notes for me, except that it was more masculine than I had expected. I've worn it two days now. It's got a very pleasant marine/woody/aromatic first few hours, and after that of course the wood peeks out even more, like you spent all day at the beach and now you're smelling the breeze through the nearby trees.
I also love Sailing Day, but this one has more than double the longevity on me. I don't find them terribly similar, though they are in the same category. They are not dupes of each other and you might as well sample both if marine frags are your jam. I find this more similar to Heeley Sel Marin, but EDMB is more woody and SM is more spicy.

rita.zaretskaya

Very nice, pleasant and fresh.

saponista

This is everything I wished MMR Sailing Day had been, and more besides. Clean, fresh, marine breeziness; cool, crisp, and perfectly unisex. It’s elegant with that sophisticated luxurious EdM DNA and none of the cheap synthetics that ruin the Replica line for me.

To me this isn’t an actual “ocean” or “beach” scent but rather an impressionist watercolor of the feeling of being on a sailboat. The hint of menthol reads to me as “cool breeze” rather than “toothpaste.”

Polite at arms length and an easy reach for the office on days where a cool calming scent will help me get through the day.

Konga5000

Safe. Light . Office friendly . I get a tiny hint of mint (I hate mint in fragrances). Do Not Blind Buy if you are looking for "something special". This is a pleasant oceanic "blue" scent with average longevity . Nice, but there are probably 15 other better things on your "want" list right now.

emjh

It's actually not too dissimilar to the original, it definitely has the Merveilles dna running through it, which I didn't expect according to ths notes listed here. I smelled this and the Eau side by side in the store today. I have had and used up the Eau and the Elixir before. I think I actually prefer this one because I don't get the dustiness in the drydown that I get in the other two. Bonus of this one is that I think it is definitely unisex, which always goes down well with my husband when I bring yet another perfume home. So we're both wearing it after our showers this evening. I think the perfumer did a great job on this flanker.

Edit: others have mentioned a minty or anise facet to this fragrance, I get both, but I like it.

2nd edit: I sold it after 3 months, I got bored of it. Too marine perhaps Maybe I prefer the original after all. I may go and smell them all again just for reference

SouthSim

My goodness. What a beaut! An airy, woody, ocean like gorgeous smell. Smells expensive and sexy. I like it as a night scent.

nufrancis

If you like Sea Notes you will definitely like this. Sea Notes is very prominent with soapy dry down. Remind me a lot of Bvlgari Aqva Marine.

brokesta911

Hermes Eau des Merveilles Bleue (2016) - ocean breeze - #christinenagel ‘s perfume brings you back to sitting on a porch by the beach smelling the salty air and morning dew. I get the citrus components of the original, yet she adds a wood accord and a hint of patchouli to remind one of the earth, not just the ocean. Modern and minimalist.

Forbiddenjade

This perfume shapes in my mind the image of a mature person. I don't mean mature as in age, rather emotionally.

You went through a fair array of difficulties, disappointments and worried quite a bit about the future. But you overcame it all and have now a wonderful, fulfilling life. You're sat on the veranda of your beach house, in a wonderful location away from the maddening crowd. It's high up on a hill facing the sea.

It's sunset. You're alone, amidst the hundreds scents nature is mixing to the iodine lifted by a warm, gentle breeze coming from the sea. You sip your drink with thorough pleasure, in the knowing that your hard work paid off and you're now safe. You don't worry about a thing anymore. You are exactly where you dreamt for so long to be.

Your gaze sweeps over the garden below, onto the lemon trees, then the maritime pines in the distance, finally onto that lovely, calm sea. The sun is yet warm and you close your eyes, letting your soul be lulled by the warmth of a mineral, yet balsamic embrace.

No regrets, no fears. Just fulfillment and pure happiness. It's here with you finally, and you grew able to understand its nature.
Eau des Merveilles Bleue.

The end. A happy one at last.

hollymichaelm

This is my favourite fresh perfume. I can't resist it for during the day, especially when I'm going to the gym. I am a lover of heavy oriental fragrances so it surprises me that I love this so much... but it is sooo good. 10/10.

shannfernando

To start off, let me update you on the weather over in Sri Lanka right now. It’s 32 degrees (celcius) and because of the humidity the weather app on my iPhone indicates that it feels like 39 (special shout-out to those who deny Global Warming and Climate Change are real!!) So as the rest of the world transitions from colder spring days, us on the equator are BOILING. Because our President is corrupt and drove our country into bankruptcy and the Ceylon Electricity Board is not making enough money, we have 6-7 hour (on average) brownouts (in case you don’t know what a brownout is, they are sporadical blackouts/power cuts) every single day! Now try to imagine a hot as balls day + no AC or even a fan to keep yourself cool. I feel I have now set the stage!

I am wearing EdM Bleue today. It feels like I sprayed on the Original EdM mixed with Iced water and sea notes. Stunning, refreshing and just what I needed to feel sane again.

There’s so much more than just three notes and this is absolutely stunning. The more I sweat, the more it begins to project so remember to spray your inner elbows, back of the neck and chest if you wear this on a day you plan to sweat ! And this lasts amazing on clothes! Being an EDT it does not have beastly longevity on skin; but it does last longer than most other designer EDPs 😏

Hermès is my most favourite designer fragrance line tied with Guerlain. They can do no wrong but are often misunderstood.

The Eau Des Merveilles line is one of the most beautiful perfume lines. What I love most is it suits this super hot tropical climate so perfectly.

This is going to be a summer staple for me!

derby2169

While overall being evocative of salty driftwood, a combination of marine notes over a cedar backbone, the complete picture kind of 'shatters' if you smell it too closely. What first appears as a salty sea breeze, comes off as a combination of powder, grainy woods, and a musky, salty off scent, almost as if you smell through the 'illusion'.
In fact I think it is that powdery nuance that throws me off, I get it also in other Merveilles offerings, kind of like dusty, dry make up powder.

Overall, I attribute this effect to having previously smelled Heeley Sel Marin, which is more realistic and evocative compared to this one. Granted Sel Marin is definitely grittier, but sea foam and moist birch wood are supposed to be relatively lively and somewhat unusual.
Nevertheless I would pick this up at half price on a discounter for a 'lighter' less abrasive marine scent.

Nannna23

This one has grown on me, from being good to fantastic. I'm normally not into sea notes, as they are often paired with something else, that I think makes them smell like sweat in the dry down - but this one is different. It's much more interesting, complex and soft, but yet powerful. What puzzled me ind the beginning was, that I definitely smell anis in the opening. It's not listet here, but every time, no doubts. I just couldn't figure out if I likes the anis or nor, but it gives it an edge, that fades away shortly aften. Now I don't think about it anymore.

grapefruit352

This if more masculine variation of a fragrance on my opinion. Very dominant cold sea water wibe. No salt like in the warm sea fragrances. Reminds L'eau par Kenzo with its chilliness.

kerriashleyc

Clean, fresh and beachy. The woody notes are really prominent to me and it almost smells green( I guess from the patchouli) with works with the more salty note. Overall it smells expensive and well made but not generic- imagine a former hippy turned Fortune 500 ceo. Easy for business settings as well.

The Wolf

Nice salty, light marine scent. Perfect for everyday casual wear and smells really nice.
Longevity and projection aren't great, more of a skin scent unless you lay down 10 sprays or more.

Scent 7.5/10
Performance 4.5/10

renashepet

One of the few perfumes that I didn't blind buy - I smelled this at the Hermes counter in Saks and had to go home and order a 100ml bottle for myself. This to me is a perfect everyday scent for the summer - can see this being a good easy reach perfume for those warm summer days.

ilayda

I get a strong noseful of patchouli on the initial sniff but I get the woody aquatic notes a little after. I find it quite unisexe maybe leaning slightly more feminine but I do like this scent, not something I have ever reached for but maybe I should. Its nothing that stood out to me but it is a nice scent and I do enjoy it. I do get citrus which is not listed in the notes but I do get a certain citrusy sourness before the drydown. it is a very aromatic scent that reminds me of salty ocean water.

Franci90

I'm surprised to find this quite similar to the original EDM, considering that the notes are totally different! This lacks the strong orange-peel in the opening, replaced by a lighter more 'blue' vibe. But, after a while and, in particular in the drydown, both fragrances are similar. Overall EDMB is a slightly lighter version of EDM and without citrus. I wouldn't categorize this as a marine aquatic scent either.

Def marine, has some sweetness but also very salty, more salty than sweet. I get the dirtiness that other reviews allude to, but it's not obvious. In passing its a realistic marine salt with some sugar on top, but nothing grabs me in.

Aqva amara has the orange and strong minerals (despite being more synthetic), sel marin the incense and airy/breezy feel, costa azzurra the cypress and driftwood make it unique. This smells more simple than those and less interesting as a result, though if you like simplistic it might be a good one to test out.

ingeneuxo

-The sea and woody notes don't play too well in this one.
-Smells like the old sock one randomly stumbles across when they rent a cabin by the seaside for a summer getaway . (-)

Plants

A salty haired hippie who lives out of her VW Bus (with essential oils diffused in the interior) in a beach town and bathes in the ocean with a bar of small batch cold pressed patchouli soap bought at the farmer's market. She smells like Eau des Merveilles Bleue after she scopes out the wealthy neighborhoods to see who's on vacation and breaks into a vacant mansion to bathe her dog and herself with their Hermès soap and steal a pair of designer sandals.

Sirenolympia

The best fresh salty aquatic in my collections. Marine vibes, more masculine but i don't care 😄 This perfume gives me pleasure. The wood scent come to balance the saltiness. It is unique, uncommon scent for women and my nose love it. Classy, watery but not overwhelming.

Kalicka

If anyone has a bottle they would like to get rid of, please let me know.

Florind

It's good if for men. It's not unisex. It's definitely men's cologne.
Top & middle - spicy mint, clear blue ocean, cool, manly, sporty, a hint of aroma
Base - mint, woody

anngh75

My most successful blind buy. It smells so fresh and clean without carrying any type of fruity or citrus note. Just like tap water, or the air in the early morning. Best choice for the hottest summer days (and nights). Simple but still unique.

bergamotted

Opens with a pleasant, fresh citrus-esque scent. It dries down into a plasticky, pharmaceutical marine-wood combo which is not my cup of tea.

MrAbbas

My favorite marine style perfume (usually i don't like aquatics). It is very refreshing and smooth to the nose. This shows the high quality of this perfume. Very summery and day time only. It is a mood lifter for me. The performance is kinda bad and sits close to the skin, but i reapply because I love the scent so much.

sisina96rv

Surprise, surprise! When I smelled the sample 2-3 years ago, I couldn't stand its apothecary smell.
Now, when I tested it again, I like it a lot!
The reviewers are right. It is salty, aquatic wood with a pinch of icy spiciness, like from anise. It has pharmaceutical undertone, but only a hint. It gives you the feeling of cleanness and freshness, like a freshly washed laundry or a put together lady, rich, careless and walking elegantly in old Mediterranean town streets. It is airy light, unintrusive and pleasant, yet the longevity is solid.
You cannot offend anyone with this scent. It was invented for hot summers with its tons of sea water. I would like to have a decant 🌊😘

Unique salty smell

yazeed_az

Simple, elegant and attractive

annsmiley

Oh wow, this is lovely. I was skeptical when I saw the word "aquatic" because that usually means there's some heavyhanded tart/sour/bitter nonsense that is supposed to remind me of salt. This is watery, but not in a beachy way. It's more like deep blue water, clean and just a bit soapy. I'm also not getting even a hint of patchouli, which is also a good thing, because patchouli violently clashes with my chemistry. Honestly, it's wild that I tested this at all.
I need a HUGE bottle of this.

ellie9

See, to me this is more medicinal than aquatic or equally so. Not in a bad way at all but it does have a bit of a pharmacy smell which I happen to like actually. I love it! It always puts me in a good mood and last year I wore it all summer. I'm on my second bottle now

108gilda

This has an unusual type of fresh smell which increasingly projects from my skin. It starts with a note similar to anise, for my nose. Something aromatic. I wear more skin scents but this one projected on me, and I received a lovely compliment that I smelled just great!

LawmaLlama

Watery, salty, woody goodness. Unfortunately, only lasts about an hour with overspraying.

daturablack

On me it smells very salty. When i saw that description I couldn´t agree more. Salty sticky day at the sea side. Unfortunately dont like it on my skin, but description is on point!

jacoiyathomas

This is not my favorite scent but I can at least say it smells very natural to me like it’s your natural scent kind of like you’re sweating by the beach 🤣

Siv7Stars

Tested in store today n my son's response was "It smells like carrots." Which I could sort of see how he'd got there.. He way preferred the original, (we tested side by side) & I think I do too. I'm not sure what happened after the initial carrots, I sprayed it on the back of my hands n ended up washing before it had a chance to offer anything much else. I shall have to try it again sometime.

aspirina

Very pretty marine scent, it makes you feel clean and relaxed. Very simple composition, nothing groundbreaking here and honestly this is 100% unisex.

Veelovesparfumes

From the Eau des Merveilles line, this one is the best!!!!! So fresh, love it.

michaeld2986

I sampled this one at a Sephora store and now I can't stop thinking about it. I find it very unisex and it's just blended so well that it makes the perfect warm spring/summer day fragrance. For an aquatic, it performs pretty darn good too! I still catch whiffs of it and it's been several hours since I sprayed it. I may go back and buy a bottle since it's getting more difficult to find. The price isn't too bad, but I'll need to pray about it first.

beefribs

i bought this perfume along with the maison margiela sailing day and they compliment each other so well. this is a less obnoxious smell and i can see other people liking it a lot, its perfect for summer/spring it smells like what a splash in the pool sounds like

colorfulmess

This is almost a snow-and-water scent to me because it feels cold and sweet. In other words, this is more of a fresh water scent than a salt water one. Seawater has a bit of funky marine musk and there isn't a drop of that here. I am getting wafts of crystal clear alpine water with very light Merveilles base. The bottle is gorgeous!

I enjoy it very much on a cold morning. Right now it's mixing really well with my laundry fresh clothes! :)

whoaboy

I worked at Macy’s men’s cologne counter for a few years. At least on me this is the epitome of generic cologne scent. Perfume by marketing committee.

evilspin

This is very much a unisex fragrance. Strange Hermes/Fragrantica did not list this as such. Hermes fragrances catering more to both sexes, this version has more masculine appealing notes than the original Marveilles. And its very aquatic/fresh/marine/day/summer scent without the gourmand of the elixir version or the delicate floral fresh touch of the original. I find Elixir to be the gourmand unisex interpretation of Eau de Marveilles. Also the L'ombre version is the more blue and subtle unisex version of elixer. All can be worn by a man as well.

Callista25

Simple, pleasant ozonic cologne.

behemotha

Tried it first on my wrist at some store. Could not stop thinking about it on my way home, so it was in my hands the very next day. I am not usually into such salty and marine scents; however, this one feels like the first minutes when you wake up on a holiday near the sea - it's so fresh it makes you impatient and excited about the day ahead. Definitely close to niche. I spray it on the back of my neck, lasts at least 24h on my skin. 10/10 will buy again.

verity3

Maybe it's just my sample, but I smell more citrus than anything else in this. Which in my opinion makes for a nice, unisex aquatic :)

I was looking for a beach/summer scent and this is the first time i have tried anything hermes. I was so excited getting my samples that i read the reviews here more than twice! As soon i get to test it, i was disappointed. I wanted to love it but I guess I’m not really into anything salty which is what i got on the first spray. I was hoping the dry down would be better - but no. There’s still some salt in there. I like aquatic fragrances just not anything with salt i guess.

*edit* wore it the whole day yesterday and i kind of missing the whiff of it so i tried it again this morning, this spraying mostly on my shirt, it’s been 4 hours and i still get a lot of whiff every once in a while. It’s starting to grow on me. So i might actually keep this.

Edit #2 i finally got to test it for a couple of days more and comparing it with Eau Des Merveilles, i find the bleue more interesting, it really smells like the ocean and makes me miss the beach less whenever i smell this. The salt is not as bad as it did the first time i smelled it. I got a small bottle on the way and would be my signature scent until i get sick of its scent i guess. I love how my colleague commented about how it smells so good on me. I also got the eau des merveilles and i find that warm, almost like a good sweat scent on a summer day.

jasminebaby

It was alluring the first few times I worn it, but after a while I didn’t feel a lot of connection to it, maybe because I lean more towards the feminine side instead of the masculine side. This perfume became more and more masculine the longer I wear it. Will probably use it again in special occasions!

MissyJ

This is super masculine on me. Lovely smell but it’s very masculine.

brightflashes

I usually like these sorts of scents but this one didn't wow me. Even though I'm aware it's not a note, I'm getting some sort of spearmint type smell from this among the others.

I think the warmth of patchouli and the freshness of the oceanic notes don't mix to my liking. That's not to say it isn't pleasant or couldn't work for anyone else; it's just not my taste.

Athene0702

Well, I actually love the smell that reminds me of the fresh sea breeze, especially I live in the midwest with nowhere close to the sea. However, when I wear this fragrance it makes me feel dizzy and headache although I love the smell....... really want to love this. Now it becomes my room and closet fragrance...

DSdiva

I adore the moment when my barefoot touched the beach and I felt the scratching of the sand. Instantly I am overwhelmed by boundless peace and my soul soars like a seagull over the sea. When I wear this Bleue Merveille I feel the light breeze, the breath of the sea and the tender kiss of the Sun.

Wwoman

On me this is watery and not much else. I was hoping for a stronger woody or patchouli component to add some warmth and dimension, but it just doesn't come out, even after the dry down. If you are big on water scents, this is a lovely one. Bonus, it doesn't smell minty or mentholy to me, which I hate with a burning passion. Nicely true to the notes, but not a favorite of mine.

dglightblue

Summer, humid and hot, i tried this again in rvening as cooler.
This wasnt as peppery and fatty plus marine as previously when i tried.
This today is as exactly as the accords and frag group imply.
It almost was a touch peppery in beginning but wentaway
Much better than my other one in the fully dark orange bottle

GinCatsBooks

A wonderful, calm and serene fragrance, its also one of the most unusual aquatics that I have owned in that it hasn't got the typical calone/melon notes in it that most aquatic scents usually have and it also (at least to me) doesn't smell like bathroom cleaner.

I totally agree with the comments that this scent evokes mental imagery of a calm, starlit lake or ocean at night, there is something very relaxing and soothing about it, not that it makes me feel sleepy, it just makes me feel more calm, pulled together and collected. There are only 3 notes, but, as I have said with Alien, its impressive how compex and deep something with very few notes in can smell, its not linear and boring but its also not difficult or jarring to wear, its a perfect scent in my book.

Longevity and silage are moderate with about 7 hours of wear and a soft, bordering on skin scent silage, the first time I tested this in January I actually couldn't smell it, but others could, I carried on my day with 4 spritzes from the tester on my neck and collar bone, throughout the day I kept getting little "bursts" of it and I kept wondering who it was that smelt so good, only to realise it was me, I quite like that about it.

Glad to have finally gotten a bottle, which, might I add is beautiful and I will be repurchasing in the future, I adore it so much

veeen8

A gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous aquatic.
I've never come across something quite like this.

Aquatics or blue fragrances typically come off to me as crazily synthetic, generic, sometimes even sharp. Not this one. It's quaint and nuanced, although linear.

Just like what another reviewer mentioned, this fragrance brought me places — a serene lake under a starry sky, or a beach at night with waves slowly crashing onto the shore. I love fragrances that can bring me to places, especially during a pandemic.

Projection is good for 1+ hour and longevity probably 3-4 hours. Not bad for an aquatic. I personally find the OG Eau des Merveilles a little too strong, but Hermes added some blues into this and right now it's a perfect balance.

A man's summer signature from all-year sunny Singapore.

Annemarie

Not for me, but then I don't like aquatics. This is by Hermes so it is much more subtle than the calone monsters of the 90s (from which I feel I may never recover). The original Eau des Merveilles brilliantly reimagined what 'aquatic' could mean so it does disappoint me a little that with Bleue, Hermes veered to the mainstream. Still, it's pleasant enough and if sales help keep the rest of the Merveilles line on the market, more power to it.

Amnaa

The beginning is slightly sharp and aromatic, closer to menthol than patchouli. Then is settles into CLEAR WATER. Imagine a small lake in the mountains. After that it starts becoming saltier and saltier overtime. Personally, I love it! The scent is just fascinating to me. Smells like vacation! A definite feel good/relax scent.

Performs best in hot weather. The spiciness settles much faster and then disappears. In cold weather the perfume stays very sharp.

Definitely DON'T see a similarity with Davidoff Cool Water. There's something about Cool Water and it's iterations that I never liked.

Word of caution tho, my mother is allergic and thus very sensitive and she says there's just something in it that makes her nose upset. So, I guess be cautious if you have a more serious respiratory condition.

hardyn

So disappointed with this one. After looking and watching heaps of reviews, I decided to take a punt and blind buy this one. First spray reminded me instantly of toothpaste. To be more exact, toothpaste once you spit it out .
Yes it’s aquatic, yes it’s summery, but with the mint added, I smell like I have bathed in toothpaste backwash

churinl

I can't quite put my finger on why I found this to be such a love for me! I don't dislike aquatic fragrances, but I don't think I have a single one in my collection that can be classified that way. Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of that would come close is Aqua Allegoria Teazurra, and I think that has more to do with it's freshness and the color of the juice. And yet I haven't been able to forget this one since I received a sample about two years ago.
Of course, it has the original Eau des Merveilles DNA, and I love that one too, but the aquatic accord is so remarkable that I actually prefer this one. I get a mental image of sitting on a yacht - a sailboat, with the sails billowing, full of wind. Ocean spray is in the air, clean and fresh, and I am wearing a light cotton, sky-blue sweater on, with a scarf (Hermes of course!) vainly attempting to keep my hair from becoming a tangled mess!
Sorry for that bit of reverie, but I find it incredible that so few notes in such a crystalline composition could provoke such a strong image.
I certainly wouldn't mind having full bottles of both this and the original but if I had to choose one over the other, Bleue would be my choice.

PS - reading through the reviews, it makes me happy to see that this fragrance appears to invoke similar imagery and wonder in others!

PPS - LOL! I just saw my review from a year ago, which is a less vivid description of all I just wrote! I suppose it really has made an impression on me!

see_u_space_cowgirl

My bottle was given to me by a family member who had tired of it. I also own the original EDM, and I find the bottles themselves extremely beautiful! Seeing them on my vanity during the summer always brings a smile to my face. I think the two scents are clearly related, but distinct enough that I can easily justify owning both.

As far as the perfume itself goes, it is quite distinctly cool, not sharply cold at all but salty and refreshing like an ocean breeze. I get the feeling that I'm drinking a cocktail rimmed with salt on the beach in the late afternoon. Throughout the wear time, there's an undercurrent of patchouli, wood and moss(?) that I become aware of in waves. I would say the patchouli is fairly prominent, but as a fan of even heavier patchoulis I certainly don't mind it. It grounds the scent and blends well with the saltier aquatic notes - it's so well blended that it has taken me a long time to even isolate the moss.

As for sillage, EDM Bleue is moderate to good on me. With three sprays, it can be smelled much further than arms length away on me for half of the wear time. I find it usually begins to fade after 6-7 hours, but I catch whiffs of it verging on 11-12 hours later.

My boyfriend has not tested out this fragrance himself, but I do think this reads as unisex. It recalls associations of other aquatics that smell very distinctly male, but it sidesteps those associations. I don't think this is a safe blind buy for men or women-test it first. Yes, even if you like aquatics or the original EDM! I feel like some of the notes, especially the patchouli, can go "strange" on some people, even though they work for me.

This is a "yacht club" fragrance for me, plain and simple. Tasteful, with a rugged undertone. Back when I was spending a lot of time on the water, this was a favorite of mine. I still get a lot of wear out of it even in the city, but I miss that special sparkle I felt it had when I wore it in seaside New England, where it made me feel as if I was taking on the natural fragrance of my surroundings. I've worn it on other beach excursions far away from there, but to me that was when it really stood out.

Paula73

Reminds me of Davidoff Cool Water..haven't tested it properly yet but straight off the bat..Cool Water...

Juma

My signature of summer 2020. I'm wearing both, EDM and this and they are similar allthough totally different notes on Fragrantica.

EDM is all orange, fir and Woods, when this one is not as bold as EDM, in my book is unique WoodyMarine.

I get no patchouli thankfully (as I can't stand patch lately), a lot of woods and it's not too salty on my skin in way of Olympea. Stays pretty linear but it doesn't bother, it gorgeous.

Of course, as many Hermes fragrances, totally unisex.

Staying power 4-5 hours at 8 sprays, need to re-apply with 3 sprays.

PolishRose

I am in mourning for old Guerlain and this has sparked an exploration of other perfume houses both mainstream and niche. After Nahema, Vol de Nuit, Mitsouko and Shalimar, almost everything else seems banal and tawdry in comparison.

Eau des Merveilles Bleue was a most pleasant surprise. I am not normally drawn to aquatics (as you see) but this has a startling freshness and refinement which is a pleasure to wear. It evokes a boat trip in the Mediterranean, over an azure sea on a brilliantly sunny day, with a lively breeze. Simply beautiful.

diego.lesgart

@dglightblue ... could you tell me please, if it can work for men

Tim Wilcox

It's 30C right now and I'd love to be beside the seaside with a fresh breeze blowing instead of in the city but there's 9 million workers in the UK on furlough and their kids not in school so trying to go to the beach seems folly right now but I can sit by my big fan and smell this and let the salty air and ozone drift refreshingly by with just a hint of rock pool to add colour. A very good nautical fragrance for hot weather.

dglightblue

marine aquatic...oooh i dont know - its not like any other marine aquatic ive tried, nothing mainstream anyhow.

skin test, sunny winter day.

its peppery salty scent with mens cologne over top - so ok i like the mens cologne part its fresh and quite nice, i dont know that i appreciate the pepper and salt in these amounts. olympea edp is a bit heavy on the salt for me too.
skin test and card.

will have another test but i would suggest you need to like at least one of the others from this line to see if the base or DNA are ok for you

lasts good 5-6 hours or so, medium sillage, not huge but present

aldinatic

Simplicity wins. This is really nice. You can wear it everywhere. It's a wonderful perfume.
Like a walk on a really long beach and feeling the freedom. The aquatic note is staying trought out the whole dry down.. which is interesting.
The wood and the patchouli are making it warmer and feminine. It doesn't go deep into the nose.. it tikles it in front. It plays with your senses. I feel comfortable wearing it at home too.

RachelSeun

A very fresh and salty take on the orginal and can work well for both men and women. For the spring and summer seasons, it’s not your typical citrus and fruit fragrances for women, the sea saltiness makes Bleue suitable for all seasons especially in the colder weather. It really does captivate the cold and sharp saltiness of the ocean but with the DNA of the original blended well here. A very unique and stand out fragrance for women.

labonvie

This one surprised me because I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it. I don’t like aquatics but I love this. Salt, pepper, fennel, vetiver and woods. Truth is, I like everything in the Merveilles line. Scentwise, I prefer the original but this one lingers on my skin significantly longer. It’s quintessentially Hermes...sparkling, bright, clean, classic but also unique.

GalInGlasses

Eau des Merveilles Bleue is essentially exactly what it is advertised to be: marvelous blue water. Personally, I love it, and this is a go-to scent for me when I want to smell sparkly and self-assured, maybe if I want to evoke the lady wearing resort wear on a yacht. For me, spraying this scent is like opening a cold bottle of Sprite: fizzy, a bit bracing, zingy, refreshing... And amazingly, it maintains this character the whole way through. I can see, though, that this aroma may not appeal to everyone. Aquatics, in my opinion, are notoriously controversial. Many people seem to be scarred for life by too much Cool Water in the 90's, or other similar fragrances that, if badly done, could veer into the territory of shampoo or bathroom cleaners. I personally feel that Eau des Merveilles Bleue is saved from the melon-like shower gel territory by its citrusy salty aspect that is tempered to a perfect volume, like a gentle ocean spray. It's hard to describe where these impressions could be coming from based on the notes pyramid. The review by NeptunesWish below that mentions an unlisted note of absinthe seems like a promising bet; while it's not overtly minty or herbal, per se, this fragrance does have some of the same aromatic feeling as a fresh sprig of mint, or maybe a mojito with a bit of salt around the rim of the glass. This is a perfectly unisex fragrance to me, and it lasts all day long. Highly recommend.

PNBP

love it, it lasts long and works well with my skin dna. very elegant for my taste, not too feminine nor too masculine.

misssarah

Meh, definitely doesn't compare to the original Eau des Merveilles. It reminds me of a Nautica cologne (don't remember which) that I have a negative association with, but even at the time thought it smelled kind of cheap and immature. It reminds me too much of all the aquatic/beach/ocean fragranced products that are marketed for the bathroom.

adinat

Considering the original Eau and Elixir des Merveilles, this one came as a disappointment for me.

It is very masculine, harsh, I would definitely not buy it considering the other ones in the Merveilles line.

Instagram: @My_Insta_Fragrances

tessture

I get Coast soap, drying to salty sea water notes. Kinda nice, but pricey for coast soap. Dries to a better sea water, but still very masculine modern aquatic. This was sampled in my search for a true sea water fragrance (Acqua di Sale and Sel de marin are in the forefront so far)

SaturnSmiled

Fennel Water.

I'm surprised no one else has pointed out the strong fennel note in this one? Some digging revealed that an unlisted note for this perfume is Absinthe, which has a minty-Anis kind of smell (and the famous drink is also know as 'La Bleue') Clearly Nagel wanted to create a sea perfume that was both salty mineral and intoxicating. I believe she succeeded.

This is more delicate than I would like, but the hesperidic wafts are a tease much like faint ocean scent on a delicate breeze. Up close on the skin the minty fennel mixes with the patchouli to form something that is both invigoratingly fresh and a bit dank. It reminds me of fresh, rain-filled air.

I think that is perhaps the 'feminine' charm of these non-floral scents originally envisioned, and this one in particular capitalises on that very well, as it lacks the orange-candy peel sweetness of the original. It's like the skin of a Sea Fairy: soft and inviting and only present when intimately close. Seashell salt skin, fresh seaweed hair and pebble jewellery.

wenna41

This is a "NO" for me...It lacks the high end feel of a Hermès creation and does not even remotely resemble any of it's predecessor's "magical water" experience. I just fooled myself, once more, after the initial attempts, in hoping it could be a worthy substitute for summer, instead of it's more layered and multifaceted older siblings from the same Eau De Merveilles line...This version smells like any other scent I've picked up before, it lacks the pedigree and heritage of Hermès- if I must smell it blindly, I would easily confuse it for something else, unlike it's more distinct older three siblings. Even the more "shy' Eau Claire would put this one to shame, simply by her deceptive 'simple structure", yet stupendously amazingly tenacity in terms of being persistence, in an extremely understated and classy manner, creating this swirling cloud around you that could not be mistaken for any other similar fragrance (R.I.P) :(.
I'm not sure what went wrong when this baby was created but I surely know that Hermès missed the mark (for me, that is). This lacks a certain degree of substance for me, maybe the intention was looking great on paper (or wherever the formula was noted down, LOL), but the execution/ delivery is a total let down for me.

gweyslabao

Ooooooohhh this is when ocean and toothpaste had a kid. I don’t know where the minty notes are coming from. It doesn’t sound appealing but I really liked the fresh masculine vibe. Definitely unisex too.

6opar

I am fascinated.
I am usually not that laconic especially when reviewing my favourites, but with this fabulous fragrance less is more.
I am smitten.
Mme Nagel is leading Hermes fragrances in a direction that promises wonders. The sublime Galop and EdM Bleue are just the beginning.
It's high time, and actually perfect timing, for a pillar fragrance marketed for men. It's been 13 years since TdH.
Please. I want more.

Can a perfum be wet and dry at the sametime ?
Loud and calm at the sametime ?
Fresh and woody at the sametime ?

Eau des mervielles blue is all of this at once

I love aquatic notes and love Acqua di Gioia. That perfum always makes me feel so feminin :
In chinese (i'm from China) there is an ancient proverb saying "women are made of water".

This is to say that women are clean, tender and caring, and we are considerate (almost tolerante) and always adapt.
and that is the vibe Aqua di Gioia gave me.

But not this water from Hermès.
This one, eau des merveilles bleu,

is saying, "water, the origin of all life".

( So respect ! lol )

Missblue

Original Eau de merveilles with a hefty dose of ambergris/ambroxan. Or what the guys call "a blue fragrance"

Is there such a thing as a "heavy fresh perfume"? It must be, because this is exactly that. The original scent drowned in ambergris, evoking the scent of a cold, windy, cloudy day at a nordic beach. The sky is grey, the sea is grey, the stones surrounding it are grey. Ambergris gives it a sweaty accord more than just salty and the feeling is of a "wet" perfume. It gets sweaty by the hour, mixing in with the skin and revealing a mineral accord that stays until the end. More masculine than what is considered feminine. Even unisex would be a stretch.

The performance is exceptional, both longevity and sillage wise. I washed my arm twice and i could still smell it on my skin. Washing my shirt the next day didn't do much to get rid of the scent. Unfortunately it's yet another proof I dislike aquatics, but I have to admit this is one of the better smelling in the genre.

dcjimr

I'm not usually a fan of a lot of marine scents because I always seem to have some negative flashbacks to the 90s, when I used to drown myself in Cool Water, but I do find myself attracted to this. First of all, it is most definitely unisex so men should try this, too. The fresh aquatic notes are grounded in the woods...it sort of reminds me of the Pacific Northwest. I'm also detecting mint, although it is not listed as a fragrance note. It's wonderful and light. I just spritzed some on after a shower and took a walk on this beautiful summer day to get some breakfast and felt on top of the world.

Rose du soir

A minimalistic aquatic chypre : bergamot, patchouli, oakmoss and a fresh aquatic accord vaguely reminding of Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, but simpler and so well blended that I can't isolate any individual notes in it. Nothing sharp and cold like I expected from a marine fragrance. This definitely has a freshwater feel, giving a noticeable fresh and clean aura, and still very soft and inoffensive. It's also unisex, leaning very slightly masculine. Appropriate for every occasion, this is something designed the same way as a traditional European eau de Cologne, meant to freshen up at any time of the day, and ideal in the office, even more on very hot days. You can't really go wrong with this.
The bottle is beautiful too. So dreamy, just like the name.

ViouAmara

On my skin : fresh aquatic lemon, bergamot, water. Cold citrusy, better to wear in hot summer. No ocean saltyness.

churinl

I don't know why I like this, but I do. Quite a bit. Never much of a fan for many aquatic fragrances, and I have a very tenuous relationship with patchouli, but for some reason, this one is far greater than the sum of its parts. I have no idea what Christine Nagel used to create the aquatic accord, but it feels and smells like the light spray of the sea on my face - the kind you experience on a sailboat or catamaran. But the woods and patch lend it enough earthiness that it doesn't feel too watery. When people speak of "beach scents", they usually invoke the smells of the tropics. While I would hesitate to call this a beach scent because of that, there is more than one type of beach. This one reminds me of more temperate climates, perhaps New England, or maybe Brittany since Hermes is French, and spending the day sailing and the evening sitting on the beach in a cotton sweater, with a group of friends and a small fire somewhere near. I need a FB.

strandsikr

This has been my it is super warm and I need something refreshing in the heat perfume. It really works!

This perfume smells like the ocean and on a hot day that is all you need. It does not last at all. But then again it is an eau de toilette so that is okay. In the heat I want to rather reapply then wear something that lasts. But that may just be me.

I highly recommend it, but be aware of the lasting power.

lisa.vokorina

Smells like my body. Not naughty, not showy, but also not prissy or sterile. Elegant? Yes. Universally appropriate? Definitely. I love to wear it with a crisp white shirt.

How does Bleu relate to Eau de Merveilles? It is very much alike, but with a more pronounced aquatic facet and the balsamic orange-ness subdued, if not absent. I really wonder what it is that makes the Merveilles line so consistent. I wish I new more about the science behind perfume making.

clintjr82

Smelled this today at Saks 5th Avenue and it smells good fresh and woody. Performance and longevity solid. It’s worth a try or buy

bibibling

This is just a mini-review because I sprayed it at the mall over 6 hours ago (and still lingering on my hand after washing dishes.)

I wanted to say that the notes on Fragrantica look very incomplete to me, this definitely has the Eau des Merveilles DNA and some of those notes (especially Amber, Orange, Oakmoss, Pepper) should be included here alongside the woody notes and marine notes. If not orange, at least bergamot.

First impressions: I liked it a lot, BUT I'm in that mindset of 'I have Eau des Merveilles, do I really need this?' I have a feeling I'll end up sniffing it off and on for a month at the store and eventually just give in and buy the smallest size. it really is very nice. A marine version of EDM. It reminds me a little of Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, that ambergris-like feeling.

cookygirl

This, to my mind, bears a vivid resemblance to L'Eau D'Issey Pure. Must be the marine note.
I also pick up something 'beachy' that is strangely reminiscent of Shalimar Souffle de Parfum. Looking at the notes, I have no idea why that should be.
Anyway, I'm going to pass on this one. It's too unisex for me I prefer something a tad more feminine.
Longevity was pretty good BTW.

Rinio

I was at Selfridges the other Saturday morning and sprayed a bunch of this on my hair, wrist, behind the ear. It smelled soo good and so similar to Eau des merveilles just more marine aquatic. I would buy it if the darn thing would last only a couple of hours. After lunch it was gone. A vague whiff of it here and there but I was definitely not perfumed anymore. Merci, mais non merci!

CosmicSupernova

Wow is this masculine. Like not even borderline unisex, this is straight up masculine to me. Frosty sea air with a strange sour note. Like someone left a bunch of orange peels to rot on the beach. Like the garbage part of the beach that every beach seems to have. Is it bad? No. Do I like it? Also no. I like unisex scents but this personally doesn't do it for me. It goes too far into the world of men's cologne for my liking.

mooncat

Interresting. Icy cold and fresh, but also powdery, dry scent, not watery. I get spearmint from it. Smells like a sea breeze and sand.
As someone mentioned, it clearly has the EdM signature.

masako_30

Strange how this scent reminds me a lot of the sticks of ice that formed on the walls in winter and that we sucked playing as children (looking back now, I do not know if I would do it again..!).
Eau des Merveilles Bleue is a very precious flashback of my childhood.
I'm considering buying it for the incoming spring.

Nebby

This is another one that excites me when I put it on.
When I started exploring scents I was given a sample of this with an order. And it shows what a novice I was/am because I'd never noticed aquatics before. I'm 50 next birthday and have had no interest in 'fumes for decades, merely using what I was gifted. Before, as a teen, I'd only been interested in smelling like every one else and attracting the girls. I bathed in Kouros; Jazz, and Aramis. I stopped in the early 90's (we didn't wear fragrance to raves - the hyper-accentuated senses couldn't cope with beast-mode projection!). And so Cool water et al passed me by.
Then earlier this year I smelt Eau des Mervailles Bleau and was rocked by it, an incredibly evocative scent of shoreline and sun, and something else. I was at that time slavishly following the masculine/feminine delineation so didn't buy, exploring Bvlgari Aqva Marine and Acqua di Gio Profumo amongst others. Now my metro-sexual self is content with its range of masculinities so EdMB sits among my collection.
I still am not sure what that 'other' accord is in here. I think I read elsewhere of a Driftwood effect being attemptd. I get the salt, and a whiff of sea-breeze, but the edge that this scent has I can't define. The closest I can get in words is the violet/leaf note in He Wood, or the Ivy in Beach Hut Man. maybe the creator of this wanted to reproduce the less than totally pleasant but nevertheless entirely natural aromas that mingle at the shoreline. Others use seaweed notes but the woods and patchouli here create what to me is a scent that sits just the right side of sickly - and I think that's what makes me love it. It's challenging but rewarding. Like I say, I'm a beginner who, for example, has struggled with geranium and violet but loves them now (whereas I've a way to go yet with ambroxan, and lily-of-the-valley!).
So overall, I'm very happy to have this one now, and if some warmth finally reaches the Northeast of England this summer, I'll wear this with something coconutty and dream of Magaluf in 1989.
Btw, this is going strong after 2 hours, will update on longevity.

justchillinxo

It honestly smells like "sea" or "ocean" scented products. I don't think it's worth the money.

LisaMari

It’s a salty sour aquatic scent, with a slightly sweet dusting that reminds me a bit of the sweet but skanky Burberry Her.... don’t like it at all. I hardly ever like aquatics but I wanted to try this one anyway because you never know

a00000k

Whatever she has used to create the aquatic note with smelled strange on my skin. I can't describe it, but not pleasant. A shame, as the rest of the scent was quite nice.

morkant

This is my replacement for Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise for Men, a very similar concept but less tropical and more northern ocean, flinty, inky, and a slight bit bitter. Masterfully done, totally original!

lmwimsatt

This is very masculine. They should have at least put a unisex tag on this

Big Spender Wannabe

I tried this fragrance for the first time today. On initial spray, it was pretty strong to my senses. On dry down, it softened to a sort of "Coast Soap" essence. Very clean, fresh, and light. I love it!

raiza1990

Nice fragrance, fresh and soft, clean and polished. Could easily be a unisex fragrance. It is not my cup of tea ( and i think it is overpriced) but it is not bad. Office friendly, appropriate for all ages. A good fragrance.

Justapixel

I own Elixir des Merveillies (which I love), and have a sample of Bleue from Nordstrom. I put on three liberal sprays 8 hours ago and still smell it without trying to, and it’s still lovely. While it’s more linear than many fragrances, there is still a story to be told. The Hermes story of course, with fluttering scarves, but also reminds me of the rugged west coastal US area. Patchouli is a note I can sometimes find intrusive, but if it’s here, it does what I think it should do, and hold a fragrance up without taking over. But it doesn’t smell like a patchouli fragrance at all. Bleue It’s truly in its own category-an original.

Elixir is like old-fashioned Christmas: oranges, studded with clove, pine resins, warm sweaters, and Santa’s Beard. Bleue is clearly in the same family, yet so completely different. It has freshness, salt, is aquatic without being ozonic. It’s beautiful. There are no individual notes that stand out, but it’s cool ocean freshness, the sounds of the waves on a rocky Pacific beach, glints of light on the waves, puffs of air gusting in smelling like sandcastles, sand dollars, flying fish and the cry of seabirds. I imagine it might smell differently in winter, as Elixir does in summer.

This is one of the samples that will go on my to be purchased category.

kateapple

I've been meaning to try this since it came out, and I finally had the chance. I'm not really an aquatic fragrance kind of gal - there are very few in that genre that I enjoy. But I love the Merveilles line, so here we are.

First off, the initial whiff was distinctly of the Merveilles family of scents. I don't really know how that's possible, but it was instantly recognizable. Then, of course, it deviates into an oceanic scent. This scent isn't overly complicated; it has very few notes and is mostly linear. It's not one of those scents where the notes all come together to create this really unique or unexpected smell; if you know what the notes in this smell like, you can probably already tell if you're going to like it. For me, the dominating feature was the marine aspect. It was that very nondescript calone sort of smell, though not as artificial as some. However, i didn't find it to be particularly salty or sea breeze-y. And then the woody notes, which were only semi-present, were the same in that they were quite generic. Not any wood you could name, like cedar or sandalwood. Just a sort of woody aroma.

I realize this doesn't sound promising, but I actually don't mind this scent. It's not a "love" for me, but then again, few oceanic or aquatic scents are. Also, I'd like to point out that despite being marketed to women, this is absolutely unisex. I think this is one of those scents that I would enjoy more on someone else than myself - it's pleasant enough on me, but it's just not for me.

Astara_Elaria

Pure beauty. The only aquatic scent I can tolerate, even love. But as others have mentioned before, there is so much more going on than just aquatic freshness:

I also get ginger (with some minty sharpness first). After that it stays pretty fresh, salty and marine for about an hour on my skin. After that the stormy sea calms. Just when I thought the perfume had vanished, some soft ambery honey bloomed along with the mildest orange blossom one can imagine. This phase, which I love most, lasts another hour, before deep and dark woody notes appear and remain 'til the end.
I get a noticable scent for about six or seven hours.

And here is my picture: A clean sky, a lonesome shore, a white beach, yes. A woman walks along the sand, barfoot, she carries her shoes in her hand, the fresh wind whirls her long hair and she sings.
She walks a little closer to the nearby gardens, sits on a large, still sun-warmed stone, and she keeps looking at the low standing sun with bright eyes, while the evening sunlight caresses the flowers in the nearby gardens and they unfold the mildest, most beautiful fragrances. And then the night comes: Darkblue sea, dark sky, triftwood at the shores. This day has to end, as the summer has to. She sighs, peacefully, and keeps the memory of the warmth within her heart.

I was just looking for a "fresh pick-me-up-scent" on a really hot day, did not expect to become enchanted.

lunarambrosia

I love this. It's the saltiness that does it for me. As a woman, I find Bleue kind of sporty. I actually really look forward to wearing this in the winter, even though it's summer now. Something about the allure of the beach in the cold, what a different sensation it will produce when it's dark all the time. This scent is layered and has dimension. I don't know how else to describe it. While the staying power is good, it won't last all day. Such a joy to refresh, however. And the blue bottle is dreamy, a bit like seaglass. Edit: I absolutely agree with @Bubbles1964's review that the beach this evokes is a northern one, like Nova Scotia or Ireland. For me, there are strong associations of winter. A cold beach...

Heifrank

Im so surprised how underrated this is on fragrantica. Im so glad that my gf bought this because I love it both on her and myself :) its high quality stuff. The scent smells pleasing, but also interesting. To me it has citrus freshness with hints of anis in the background. Lovely stuff for girls and guys.

Bubbles1964

This is a beautiful salty-wood-mint smell, one of my favorites from the Eau des Merveilles line, along with the amber one. The beach I'm walking on is not a tropical one, rather I'm in the northern hemisphere. Think Ireland or Nova Scotia. And it feels like dusk or evening.

I have no issue with performance. In the opening, silage is beastly. One spray, and a hour later, and my partner could smell it 15' away. Longevity is about 4 hours. Very good for this kind of scent.

HeavyBeatsUK

Beautiful, magical, starry scent. But what's the point? I can't smell it on myself after the initial spray and nobody else can smell it on me. I'm not willing to spend £100 on a bottle of what might as well be tap water.

81Classic

This is a fantastic aquatic fresh scent! Don’t be mistaken by the way it was marketed towards women, and think men can’t wear this... these Merveilles fragrances are very unisex and easily worn by anyone who loves them. Salty sea breeze with woody notes and a classy finish... this stuff is so good. I sampled it and immediately bought a full bottle. Perfect for spring and summer!

comfortablynumb83

This smells exactly what I thought it would smell like. I mean that in a good way.
It is the smell of the ocean, sea salty water. There is a slight hint of woods, but this is very aromatic and aquatic. If you have ever accidentally gotten water up your nose while swimming in the ocean and are familiar with the smell that is left behind, this is it. Without that burning to it. And again, I mean that in a good way! lol. I really like this one! I think it is my fav out of the EDM line to date.

ZBear

EDM Bleue is my Merveilles. I have always loved the original on others, but always found that it went too woody on me. This new iteration from my favorite perfumer is amazing. I don’t usually gravitate towards any scents that are marketed with the color blue, as I find they tend to have an unpleasant or artificial aquatic tone to them, however, this has changed my mind.

This creation evokes the salty, mineralistic scent of a rocky beach, perhaps one filled with cliffs, similar to the one described in Daphne DuMaurier’s “Rebecca.” There is something haunting and deep, and somewhat sensuous, but at the same time very crystalline and transparent about this fragrance. It is just beautiful.

Lasting power and longevity are quite good, and I would say the scent is unisex. My favorite in the EDM Collection, followed by the (discontinued) Eau Claire, and then probably the Ambre, for its salty-caramel notes. Try it!

yloenog

I hate patchouli and sea notes don’t always work for me, but this combo together with the woody notes create something quite unique and interesting. It gives a slight herbal vibe, almost like liquorice, but fresh at the same time. I think it’s a great alternative for summer fragrances, if you’re fed up with the light florals and citruses.

bleu_canard

this is my favourite perfume so far, and I'm almost forty, so I've tried a few. This scent is not for those who want their fragrance to communicate to others who they are. Anyway, I've always found the idea absurd that we should or could express our individuality via something that is designed by somebody else. I want to be touched and inspired by a scent, I don't want it to define or advertise who I am.

It's not easy to find a perfume that I really enjoy. Most orientals, gourmands and heavy florals make me feel claustrophobic, I find them opaque, constraining and closed - as if the designer wanted to control the perfume (and me, the wearer) too much. On the other hand, the majority of "ethereal" scents don't have much of a character, they lack mystery and spirit.

For me, Eau des Merveilles Bleue has it all. I particularly like to put it on just before I brainstorm or start writing.

adamthompson06

Reminds me of Oud Minerale by Tom Ford except it's more airy and not as strong (in a good way.) The signature Hermes transparency is very apparent and easy on the nose. It's marketed for women but men can easily pull this one off, 10-12 hours of longevity on my skin at arms length.

Plumaria

I was out to buy again Eau des Merveilles and I was tempted to buy this new edition instead of the original one that for over a decade has been one of my favourite fragrances. I thought that the same fragrance with a more pronounced watery, marine note would be bliss.

Well, I have tried it on and I didn't recognise much of the original scent.
I was confused on why this is part of the Merveilles series as all have the bitter orange note in common in their DNA, but not this.

Upon application it reminded me of Bvlgari Eau Au The Vert but after 30 minutes it changed into something fruity, moist and salty. I suddenly realised that I actually knew this scent very well, because I have been wearing it for years: it was Happy from Clinique, just a bit more herbaceous and maritime.

After three hours, in the dry down, it reminded me also of Acqua di Gio' for Men, but by then it was extremely weak and almost gone.

In conclusion, this is a really nice unisex scent that reminds me of many other scents I (used to) love, but it is quite different from all the other ones of the Merveilles series as it lacks that bitter orange note.

Tsiolkovski

For me this is complex, refined and unique. It is not a scent for when I want to feel girly or feminine, but rather something to feel professionally confident in. Given the scent I thought it would be unisex. I doubt it’s a crowd pleaser, but i believe it would be a good “clean” -scent for those who generally do not like the typical citrusy/shampoo-ish/green scents.

None of the notes sounded like they would attract me, but they do. Something about it just works. It reminds me of mineral water, of stones and somehow fresh laundry.

It seems to be very dependent on body chemistry. On me it was brilliant. On my mom it turned into a completely different smell, and not a good one.

The bottle is beautiful, and I like that nothing about the ad nor the bottle plays on sexuality or any stereotype for what a woman should be. While the ad or bottle alone won’t convince me. It is refreshing to see.

Personally I would wear this when I feel or want to feel confident.

jjonrofl

Much brighter than the original Eau des Merveilles. I agree that this has a "cold" element... it's not sweet in the least bit but it's not necessarily dry. The initial spritz smelled a bit odd to me, but as it dries down, it retains an aquatic accord similar to Heeley Sel Marin but has a certain depth to it that I find very enchanting and the lasting power on me is decent. It's not a projection monster but I smell myself throughout the day, up through maybe 12 hours of wear.

This is very unisex and I see it as a clean, aquatic scent but it doesn't smell cheap or generic. Also, I typically dislike the cucumber-y or typical aquatic fragrances, but this one is intriguing and I've been wearing it on and off for the last couple weeks.

It has a sharpness and cool quality to it, but not in a headache inducing way, nor in a way that feels ordinary. It's hard to say whether I'd get a FB of this. I'll come up with a verdict later but for now I'm really enjoying my samples and I would recommend trying. I may try layering this with Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt

Bouquet

Like drawing cold mineral water from out of a stone well in a wooden bucket.
Definitely unisex. Casual. Unusual. Like.

Edit: Even better when layered!!!

Juma

I adore "Merveilles" line, admire Hermes, except Jour line. I love this as I love Eau de Merv. original. It's magnificient marine scent with woody notes and a hint of patchouli well blended in this sophisticated creation.
To me it's all-round year fragrance,it has no sharp edges as some summer marine scents have, no mint and birch notes which make a fragrance unwearable to me.
I can say it's cold scent as some say. I own a few salty perfumes but this is not salty on me. More marine-Woody category.

The White Beach BY Felix Vallotton

ANNAFRYS

I am in love with marine notes! tested in Bloomingdale yesterday! Already on my list.

mabelcruet

This is very odd on me. The biggest note is definitely salty-aquatic-marine, its very striking. It's a 'cold' note, like cold sea spray on a winters day, fresh but sharp with undertones of cold stone and pebbles. After about 20 minutes a very odd slightly sour buttermilk note appears. This is exactly like Lanvin Oxygen was on me, so its interesting to note that a previous reviewer noted that too. It is a skin scent on me-very light and minimal staying power-its more or less one note, I don't get any real musk, woody notes or patchouli. There's nothing overtly feminine about this-no sweetness, no floral, very decidedly unisex.

Hija

To me it smells like a mix between Lancome LÓrangerie and Lanvin Oxygene for women - immediately pleasant, aquatic - with - though not listed - a noticeable orange flower smell. No patchouli or wood that I can detect. Fresh, but has an underlying "warm" base.
The wood and patchouly reveal themselves not until the (nice) drydown.

Vegas Pauli

My mom used to wear Eau de Givenchy in the 80’s and was heartbroken when it became discontinued. Nothing in the “clean-fresh” category ever came close to it, that is until now. When I first took a whiff of Merveilles Blue I instantly though of Eau de Givenchy. Fresh, brisk and slightly marine without the usual sweet or citrus accord that always accompanies this fragrance category. This is light and delicate but cold, like the ocean in the dead of winter. Cold, calculating, unisex, slightly medicinal and elegant sums this up, and again the closest replacement to Eau de Givenchy that I have ever smelt. Huge thumbs up.

chinook

This is what the hotel from The Shining smells like, luxurious, lonesome, suffocating, with a hint of salty plastic.
The "for women" must be a typo.
Update: that was my first impression. Later on it smells like picking sea shells at a beach, swimming in the wave with seawater up in your nostrils, or having a dozen of chargrilled oyster in New Orleans.

Fugal

Despite there only being three notes listed, this is definitely similar to the original. It's like they took the original and mixed it with the smell of a room that's had an air conditioner blowing strongly for a while. Put more simply, there is a very strong "cold" aspect to this scent (without it being minty or mentholated). I'm not sure if that's what they were going for or if that's just how the notes come off on my skin.

Like the original, this is a pleasant but strange scent. If you love the original then you'll most likely love this as well. The performance is similar–long lasting but light projection.

As a man, I don't find this to be masculine, but it also doesn't come off being very feminine. This may be a tiny bit more masculine than the original, but it's not significant.

For those of you looking to buy this, it's worth sampling, but I think the original is a little more versatile and can be worn all year unless you live in a very hot climate or spend a lot of time outside. Regardless, a unique beauty that everyone should try, even though it's certainly not for everyone!

Ohhellozippy

I think it's slightly unisex. Feels fresh and breezy. I was worried about patchouli but I cannot detect it. Feels like sitting on a wooden boat looking out over the sea on a windy day. Funny thing is I rather like this.. and I normally go for sweet fruity rose scents. Holds very well for several hours and is not offensive in terms of sillage.

Edemay

I dont understand hermes, they say this is for women when it smells totally unisex and more on the masculine side. They say ambre mervielles in unisex when it is totally femme and that elixir is female when its totally unisex too.

Other than that this is really nice, fresh, spicy and woody. Not as salty as i was hoping for. Am i crazy for smelling leather in this too?
It has moderate sillage and lasts a few hours, as it dries down the more woody it becomes. If you are looking for something simplistic fresh and woody for summer i highly recommend this.

Hermesfan

I quite like it as all Hermes work but am surprised with claimed huge longevity and sillage. On me it´s very soft and requiring re-application many times a day. Otherwise a very nice marine salty and woody scent.

cecfor

This is to me the original eau des merveilles made generic. It sterted off synthetic and sharp on me, smelling like most modern style perfume. They just don't fit my skn I guess. Later on it is reminding of the original but not as good and weaker. To me the original is way better.

AMBRA GRI

I don't think there's any perfume released by Hermes that I won't like or, at least, find it perfectly composed. This one is no exception. It's odd, though, to smell something so aquatic signed by Hermes.Feels also like something created in the style of Morillas but it does keep indeed a very easily recognizable and gorgeous Hermes signature in it. It's simple but feels complex. Nothing to do with Eau Claire de merveille.

pepperoniann

"... the fragrance successfully rises to the challenge of sparkling femininity" says Hermes on their website when describing Eau des Merveilles Bleue. Surprisingly this time the marketing material actually got it right. This is a super well-done flanker with the unmistakable woody heart of Eau des Merveilles plus a very alluring wet mineral accord. Most marine/aquatic perfumes use fruits and greens (let's just leave the gross calone aside) to achieve the "wet" impression, but here it is the dry mineral accord at play, and I have to say it really works. The patchouli is merely there as algae to add a sense of salty greenness to the perfume and is so abstract and supportive that it's nothing of worry for those avoiding patchouli.

The last thing I want to mention is how musky this scent is. Beneath all the sparkles lies a very strong laundry detergent-esque musky wood. I always have trouble with this note in Eau des Merveilles and hate it when blended with citrus. Here it is not citrusy or ambery, just musky. And I'm OK with that as long as I don't put my nose too close to my skin.

Good sillage and longevity is around 6 hours. A perfume I would put on when the mood strikes.

genny17

Definitely a unisex vibe here, a guy can esily pull that one off, so not for me as I dislike unisex..it is well done, it has the Merveilles stamp, in a more marine ocean way...nice creation, but I prefer more feminine...women who like masculine scents would probably like the fresh ocean breeze vibe..not my cup of tea but guys who are looking for a sea breeze fresh scent will like that one..the drydown is a warm salty amber, nice.

Germany

When I first tested Eau des Merveilles bleue I did not give it a fair try nor fair review. I am afraid a lot of people , including me write reviews on many fragrances after they tested them quickly in the mall or just on their hand or on a paper strip. We all are victims of it and I believe a lot of rather hasty reviews are made ,,,, like mine further down , it's just not a review that deserves so many balloons but thanks to the ones that gave them to me.

Now that I purchased the fragrances I have to say that Madam Nagel did an amazing good job creating this pure mineral salt water fragrance. Wow !
This is not your regular aquatic perfume ,it's very unique.
Stone and salt translates into salty mineral taste , a perfect choice for summertime.
Bleue still has very much the DNA of the original Eau des Merveilles but has taken a turn to bring out the stones and minerals ,toned down the orange notes .
Ambergris still played the Center stage as intended in this line and bleue adds a fresh minty twist with a nice musky patchouli drydown. All this is light fresh and airy but very refined and not very perfumy but rather the smell of the real outdoors by the sea ,,,

It's true mineral water.

persefoni

It might be my skin, but this one stinks somehow... Didn't expect that at all, because i like seasalt, woods and patchouli in perfumes a lot!! Plus it disappeared within 30 minutes. And it smelled totally synthetic to my nose....

Papavero0

I expected this to be more salty than the Eau des Merveilles, God knows why...but it's much more comforting, it's a "me time", close to the skin scent, natural, no sharp synthetic notes here...Ver cocooning and comforting ...

artsyrn

The original, Eau Des Merveilles is in my top 5 favorite scents, so I was very excited to try this newest version out. I love the water, live near the beaches here in Florida, adore the salty sea air aroma at the beach...but I rarely gravitate to anything aquatic in my fragrance choices. But I was so curious...
I was generously gifted some samples from Fragrantica, this being one of them. Today I gave Bleue a proper wear and can tell you this is a lovely fragrance! It is certainly aquatic and fresh, and where EDM is woodsy, this one is all about the water element. The dry down however becomes closer to the original, but still maintains that fresher vibe. Like the original this is tenacious in its longevity, something I very much appreciate. I am quite certain there must be ambergris in this as well, which makes it sing! So, would I get a bottle? No. It is the aquatic element I just can't love, and frankly that is what this new perfume is all about. Bleue certainly is beautiful, and it is done well.

msmariagomez

I like the original Eau Des Merveilles, but I find that it doesn't last more than 3 hours; on the other hand, Elixir Des Merveilles is very long lasting but it's a little bit too sweet for my taste.

Eau Des Merveilles Bleue is perfect. It's recognizably Merveilles but fresher and cleaner. Also, it's very long lasting for being an eau de toilette, lasts much longer than the original.

KDW17

This is greater than the sum of its (rather few) parts. It is really lovely, a warm oceanic citrusy (I know, there is no listed citrus note, but that's what it smells like to me) perfume that lasts fairly well. The marine note is very distinctive so this is worth having if you enjoy other salty-type perfumes. It would be fine in cooler spring / autumn weather.

Singabera

Original EDM notes are very noticeable in the beginning, but quickly are going less and less prominent, changing to watery salty notes. It's good and sophisticated fragrance, would be good for summer, it's not that typical fresh type of scents. Like it and plan to buy a bottle.

nadiadncr

This fragrance is unexpected. Very fresh aquatic and one that you want to hold close to your heart. I don't own it yet but I tried a few samples. Even though it's a light fragrance so don't expect it to project after a few hours you just can't stop smelling yourself. In a way it reminds me of Kenzo L'eau par but this one is cooler rather than floral. I love it and I have to have it.

Arlene-Beatrix

True marine breeze. A bit salty, very fresh and alluring. If you like salty fragrances, this is a must have, because it's the best scent of this kind on the market.

Bretto66

After much anticipation that this may be the first Christine Nagel release to further the Hermes brand.... I am sadly disappointed....I just don't get this addition....new in house perfumer!....you would expect she would want to make her own mark on the company and tradition of this great house?....Firstly we get Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate,,,,a fragrance so girly I cant imagine anyone over 15 really wearing it....Then we get Galop.... a elegant enough perfume but with a price point of $275 for 50ml......hardly accessible to the average consumer....now a watered down flanker that vaguely resembles the original masterpiece from 25 years ago......and in all honesty who really likes "Aromatic Aquatic's" apart from dolphins?....I am starting to think that Ms Nagel may find it hard to secure a long tenure in her new position.
I give this effort a very generous 1/5

tulpe

This is really wow fragrance. As i fast can be tired of woods in the original Eau de Merveilles, it has a similar soul but instead of big dose woods it takes you the sea. Really fresh, nor long lasting, but for a such unique character and as it is EDT, you just need apply every 4 hours to feel it. Not overpowering, a bit masculine in start, but final is worth everything i think. Perfect done, Christine Nagel. On my wish list

viridian

I agree with much hnica wrote. You can detect the original in the mix but to me it just smells like they have added a typical clean, masculine 'blue' note to it. Where is the patchouli? I love Hermes and they make up the majority of my collection, but didn't expect I'd like this one given it had a marine/aquatic slant. I guessed right! The original is perfect. Don't mess with it! :-)

What a pleasant surprise this on is! Truly 'my skin but better' scent. The smell of a fresh sea breeze and sun kissed, healthy glowing skin, with salty residue on it after you took a swim in the sea. It takes you to a happy place and calm, zen like state of mind where your worries melt away and you're at peace with yourself, become one with the nature and feel whole again.
Completely genderless, Magical Blue Water with healing properties. Absolutely essential in my life for survival. Needless to say I want a FB.

It's a nice fresh sea salt patch scent. Woody and masculine to my nose but easy to wear for a woman also. Ist fresh and summery and has a sea note so it's not my favourite thing but it's well made and I would enjoy it on others for sure ! I am just not an aquatic person , I don't love the sea nor the water , I am more a woods and mountain person and like warmer fuller scents for myself. It has an orange vibe as the others in the family and is well related and well done and very HERMES !

I don't know. I don't *get it*.
I mean it's ok, but not the salty-iodine miracle I was expecting.
I didn't get any of the sea notes. At all. Seriously.

Maybe it's just my nose. On me it's more like a downtempo citrus(?)white floral summer scent with mediocre longevity.

Still I will definetely go back for extra testing, I want to find a way to understand this.

Nice, shy and male'ish on my skin. I know I have dry skin and that gives me often problems when it comes to parfums. So this one is a no for me - but very nice, calm summerscent on others

Trevlig, blyg och manlig på mig. Jag vet att min torra hud ofta ger mig problem när det kommer till parfymer. Så denna är nej tack för mig- men en trevlig, mjuk sommardoft på andra.

Are you sure there is no vetiver in here? Salty right of the bat, a blast of vetiver, mastic-like, a unique opening, very Hermes. It is very intense for the first two hours, woody and vetiverish (maybe I'm confused with the patchouli?). Then it does tame into an aquatic scent, not very salty. Luckily this is nothing like the '90s aquatic-ozonics which can have a synthetic feel; the Bleue flanker is realistic, with quality.

A yes from me. Christine Nagel has yet to disappoint me

I have a bottle...I think this is a totally unisex scent, probably my husband enjoy better than me. Soft, gentle waterly scent with a little salty accord, like a stones on the ocean beach. Fresh, light, unisex.

got a sample of this and wow, smelling this was a new experience for me! It's starts off really fresh, then in a second it gets almost masculine fresh. I can definitely feel the "saltyness" of it (never felt it like this before, weird but good weird ) and the marine notes.

Very similar to the original Eau des Merveilles, but with a more pronounced salt note and marine vibe. To be honest, the original never made me think of a beach, whereas this one definitely does. Marine notes rule the composition (especially the drydown), but the note list must be incomplete - I smell orange, I smell woody notes, a little bit of pink pepper. I don't detect patchouli at all. This perfume fits nicely in the Hermés aesthetics, it's refined, it's elegant, and easily unisex... and because of this, it won't be a huge success. It's a unique little number in the ocean of forgettable, blue toned summery flankers.
