Woody, musk and peperish on my skin, can't feel citrus and grapefruit.

Expensive Skin scent

I am impressed by this perfume.

First of all, its very refreshing. That burst of citrus and smooth florals combine to make a very light and pleasant scent. The green notes and musk then cap it all off to make it a very cohesive blend. It reminds me of a bright spring sunshine. It is well blended. Sophisticated, wearable, effortless, and just a joy to my nose.

judybikmeit

Nice fresh scent but fleeting. It burst then dissipates and become skin scent.

D@ne

A nice fruity-tea with nods to numerous other Ellena fan-favs. Lasts a decent amount of time, comes in a beautiful, heavy bottle, but I happen to prefer the Absolue which has a bit more oomph. If you love Ellena's rendition of grapefruit, you'll probably like this.

Shira007

This is my all time favourite scent for office, professional events and summer. It’s very elegant, citrusy and aquatic fresh with delicate musk in a perfect balance.

nadjooece

this is 1000% a me problem, but i am a gourmand girl, and this perfume does not fit my personality. my mom gave this to me with a half empty-bottled condition. so i happily accepted her offer so i can add to my collection. then again, this is a me problem, so everything about this perfume is just so not wearable. this is just headaches all over and i just cant see this perfume being worn by me EVER. so i just let this bottle rot behind my other bottles…

magred

my most hated fragrance of all time. i cant even spray it to give an accurate scent profile because it instantly gives me a headache, not just the perfume, but the soap, the lotion. just revolting. literally the only word i can use for this is "sharp". and it will use that to dig into your brain.

AlexandraRoseD

This parfume is too sharp and not well balanced, with a too strong grapefruit note.

Too bad I did not sample enough before buying, guess I fell for the brand and not for the actual smell. Lesson learned.

Susi.312

Unfortunately this is another Hermes which completely disagrees with my chemistry. On my skin this smells like the "juice" at the bottom of the veggie drawer in my fridge. Gross, and not something I would want to smell like! Of course the longevity is phenomenal!

darkbeauty

Soapy clean and very very green gardenia. The notes listed are exactly what you get. Sparkling citrus lemonade opening then immediately goes soapy clean and safe. Florals are there but, surrounded by soap and continues to stay very linear this way. I wish I could say it developed into more woods and musk in the dry down but for me personally it stays flat and just persists to remind me of lemon dish detergent. This might work for a summer day running errands or while lounging on the beach… basically when you are not really looking to wear a perfume per se, but because of habit, you feel naked if you leave the house without one.

Thykes10

The opening is very citrusy with a slight aquatic feel. It has much more of an herbal quality than I was expecting. I thought the white florals would come out more but my skin pulls out the aquatic and herbal notes. It's not really my style, but could be worth a try if you like the Jardin line from Hermes. This lasted about 4 hours with ok projection but wasn't noticeable at all at the 5 hour mark. Leans feminine.

Gabrielle Langley

Lily of the valley, climbing jasmine, white hyacinth, honeysuckle, and lemon blossoms. Jour d'Hermes conjures a delicate yet luminous mirage of white petals floating in a cool mist of lemonade. A welcome respite on a hot summer's day. With its diaphanous lemony-white sillage, Jour d'Hermes persists quietly throughout the day; it never overwhelms. Perfect for warm weather. This would also be a lovely scent for a summer bride.

Ferra_Verto

Bright and lightly bitter shades of yellow with tart citrus and sheer white flowers. The sourness works best in heat, feels unexpectedly clean.
Moderate projection, this isn't meant to be a beast.
Best suited in hot weather.

sandman80

At the beginning it is very, very sharp then it becomes better. I can only wear it in summer and I noticed it smells much better sprayed on clothes. Try before you buy.

thecellophaneflower

This was my siganture scent for many years. Feminine with something sour, a difficult combination to find. Jour d'Hermes is gentle, delicate scent with a bitterness in the background. While it's extremely wearable, it's not your typical citrus/white floral blend. If you love fresh, citrus scents but you hate when citrus scents smell like straight up lemon/orange/etc, this beautiful blend is the perfect solution.
I wore it every day until I got Covid, and I haven't been able to smell it the same since :( A tragedy!

Subhuman

Y'all go on and on about the grapefruit in this, but to me it's more of an abstract, sci-fi citrus - suspiciously smooth and barely acidic. Hermès has done more convincing grapefruit, and even the house's sharpest efforts don't compare to the likes of the photorealistic grapefruit in Guerlain's Pamplelune, for example. At any rate, citrus isn’t the main focus here - it’s “flowers, and nothing but flowers”, according to the brand. Jour d'Hermès is a sunlit, radiant floral that manages not to feel insipid. At the risk of spouting heresy, it strikes me as a more sophisticated version of Hilfiger's Tommy Girl - a watery, airy tea-floral and instant mood booster. There are crisp green and woody notes here, and a soft but surprising dose of real oakmoss, but the linchpin is an abstract springtime floral blend that projects for miles yet remains gossamer-light and translucent, in true Jean-Claude Ellena fashion. Picking apart the floral heart seems pointless; the individual species aren't the thrust of this story. It's the overall effect that matters, and that effect is utterly charming. Easy to wear and almost eerily luminous, Jour d'Hermès is a perfect palate-cleanser and tonic for spring and early summer. It clears out the cobwebs with a sweep and a snap, pairing beautifully with afternoon sun. Lovely!

FreddieMercury'sCat

I actually blind bought this for my mother one year. I found a gift set at a great price, so I thought, it’s Hermes, it can’t be bad. I was right. In fact, it exceeded any expectations I had. I think my mother could tell I was a little surprised.

It’s a sophisticated, well-rounded citrus forward scent. I don’t really get the watery notes. But the wood notes ground the citrus quite well. The floral notes add some body to the composition, so you’re not getting just one or two major citrus notes. It’s very office friendly. Although inoffensive, I don’t think it’s fair to describe this fragrance as a “run-of-the-mill” sort of perfume.

GoldenSpiral

This is one of my favorite perfumes. It never fails to bring my mood up. Bright citrus, beautiful clear florals, an interesting but not overwhelming greenness to it, with a hint of musk. It is easy to wear and light. One of my go to scents when I'm doing everyday things or headed to the office. Spring scent but easily wearable year round. It is a well crafted and elegant perfume that is both delicate and effervescent, while also being classy and compelling. This will always be in my collection and always be a giant love for me.

Essential Hermès DNA in an Everyday Scent.....(but it isn't everyday ordinary)...

For me, this scent is the essential tag, or signature that I notice in many Hermès scents. Signed by perfumer Jean Claude Ellena, this beauty opens with a burst of solar, musky citrus. The grapefruit here leans musky, and includes the musky, salty skin facets from pith, which distinguishes it from pomelo. As it transitions to the heart, the muskiness is continued by a musky white floral blend with what reads like the salty skin & baby wipes facets of jasmine, soft mushroom facets of gardenia and faint clean touches from residual citrus blending with the white-florals. There is a pleasant shampoo vibe on the skin that sweetens as it's drying down to settle out into a sweet-pea & musky woods base with aromatic-herbal touches. With it's soft focus blur of mutable florals, this could be worn at any time for any occasion. I find the performance slightly above average, but the musky skin elements may cause some to think it's quickly become a skin-scent.

Contrast to Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile:
These are different, but they've been compared, and there are some similarities with the combination of citrus & white-floral. Jour d'Hermès has a much more forward musky quality that I find in many Hermès scents. Magnolia Nobile reads more clearly as magnolia. Both have above average performance, but the citrus component of Magnolia Nobile is longer lasting, while Jour d'Hermès is less linear.

Contrast to Un Jardin Sur Le Toit Hermès:
These are different, and UJSLT I get primarily a fresh green rose. However, the opening of UJSLT has something similar to the drydown of Jour d'Hermès, and the longer it's on the skin, the more the Hermès DNA comes out, with the musky, salty skin facet from fruits & florals (like grapefruit & jasmine), that I notice in quite a few Hermès scents. It's strange and a bit like they're flipped, where the opening of UJSLT is like the drydown of Jour d'Hermès, while the drydown of UJSLT is like the opening of Jour d'Hermès, although not exactly. Performance is slightly stronger for Jour d'Hermès.

Contrast to Le Jardin de Monsieur Li Hermès:
These are not the same, although the openings are quite similar. Jour d'Hermès dries down a lot sweeter on the skin, and while LJDML does sweeten as it dries down, it doesn't go as far, settling out at a sweeter shampoo. There are similarities in the openings where both open with a musky citrus and both seem like the work of Jean Claude Ellena.

Overall: Above average performance with a versatile wearing experience, this sophisticated beauty is worth more than a decant for fans of musky citrus & musky white florals. Enjoy!

She knows her worth, and doesn’t need to prove herself to anyone.
She’s elegant, light, joyful and strong.
She loves to enjoy life, she loves sundresses and buying lemons from local farmers.

She’s never scared of what others might think of her, rather she doesn’t mind being misjudged.

She is herself and that is all that matters.

10/10

Mez0Nez

Strong rhubarb and grapefruit burst off with the first spray, moderate lactones come together and it trims the sharpness of citruses chemicals.
The stickiness of a sweet pea note is enough, not overwhelming.
everything is in perfect balance. fresh, sweet, but not banal or common.

Tamijami79

I just adore this perfume. My favoritt winter parfume, when I need more energy. I've seen some comparisons to Chanel Gabriel. In my opinion, they have no similarities. This one is juicier and fresher and up to date than Chanel Gabriel. For those who like clean and sofisticated citrus perfumes, this is the winning combination.

perfumelovere

I like layering this with MFK Aqua Universalis Forte to make my own scent. Hermes neutralizes the detergent vibe in MFK and MFK tempers the bitterness/sourness from the grapefruit in Hermes. They're absolutely glorious together as a harmonious blend.

Dimanta

This is beautiful perfume, smells a lot like grapefruit, lemon and floral notes. Actually it reminds me a lot of Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia perfume. I can also smell some pear and honey in it. It’s just the way I feel it and I like it. It does not last long on my skin and for me it’s little bit too sweet. Definitely a summer vacation perfume.

Air of Grace

Blind bought this based on reviews and white flower notes. My first introduction to the Hermes Perfume House.

I love green, white floral scents so I wanted to try this - so I bought a 50ml Jour D'Hermes eau de Parfum bottle.

What a disappointment!!! :(:(:(

I am so shocked how different my impression of this fragrance is compared to so many reviews. It must be how my skin reacts to the grapefruit and the citrusy notes.

The sourness is so off-putting and the worse part about this fragrance is that the opening notes is all I smell. It stays throughout the scent's journey and doesn't leave.

It actually turns screechy, sharp and waxy just like an insect repellent we have here in Australia.

Where are the white floral notes? How is this a floral when I can’t smell any. 🤷♀️

After 20 mins, I smell some musk but very faintly.

Overall, it stays close to the skin, projection is minimal, it's very linear, with no florals so defintely not feminine to me. More masculine/ unisex.

I will have to try to get rid of this bottle cause its not my cup of tea.

Update: I have heard that sometimes leaving the perfume be after initially using it , helps settle the fragrance and it looks like it has .

I sprayed it a couple of times since buying and no change but this morning i used it again and now I can smell the florals and less of the opening sour notes .

I currently get , an old school citrus floral composition that is bearable to wear.

clean… citrusy… sweet… floral…simple… long lasting… elegant… rich… can be a signature scent

OneBlueSummer

wow what an opening.. for non niche heads this might be a bit difficult at first, but would still be a great gateway to niche if they gave it a couple wears, amazing quality espeically for this price point, deff. female set, what a scent, great job Jean!
Ok this reminds me of MFK aqua universals, but to me, better

Mlepnos

Jour d’Hermes Absolu is for me, like sunshine in a bottle. This sour, tangy yet sweet, soft and dewy fresh scent is truly great and I always wear it when it’s sunny and I need something extra to cheer me up. It’s overall a very happy yet complex fragrance. I especially like the “watercolor” effect other members have written about below, despite being citrus loaded there’s nothing screechy about this one (although the initial blast will give you a loaded juicy grapefruit bomb).

High quality, great performance, amazing fragrance. 10/10 there’s nothing bad about it and I think most people love/will love it (unless you hate citrus scents in general…but say, if you’re looking for something citrusy but dislike D&G light blue this could be something for you :))

CandyButterfly

I only have a tiny sample of this, and I'm giving my first impression. There are many other reviews with details. But I'll just add that I love this well-blended citrus/floral/musk accord. It's sophisticated and current for the summer. For those who enjoy this accord, I can see it working for those of many different ages. It's really beautiful. I love it.

I think a reasonably close fragrance at a more affordable price is Boucheron Quatre by Boucheron. I also love that fragrance.

Autumn_Moon

I fell in love with this at first sniff, and have been through several bottles over the years.

This is, as many have remarked, a "watercolor" type of scent, consistent with JCE's typical "style." If it were a color, it would be diffuse and soft -- not bold or deep. It brings to mind images of cloudless, pale blue skies, green grass in varying shades, and dainty little wildflowers -- all painted in broad, sweeping strokes. One fleeting impression bleeds into the next. There are no harsh or discernible transitions.

Regardless of what the marketing might say about "flowers, and nothing but flowers," I get quite a bit of citrus out of this. (In fact, it's one of the only perfumes with a citrus note that lasts on my skin, and it holds up relatively well in high temperatures/outdoor conditions). The citrus leans more toward the grapefruit/grapefruit rind side (acidic, with a touch of bitterness -- but it's energizing, not off-putting). White flowers (fresh -- not sweet or indolic or cloying) lend support, but they never steal the show. There is always a hint of "green" at the edges of the composition, but nothing that pushes it into a different category. Any musk or woodsy notes serve only to anchor the fragrance and extend its longevity.

While I have found this perfume to be perfectly suitable for indoor wear (it's not suffocating, it doesn't own whatever room it wafted through five hours ago, etc.), it seems to be most comfortable and expressive when worn outdoors... I love wearing this on a sunny day while strolling idly through a park. (It will last about 3-4 hours in warm conditions outdoors, which is pretty respectable for a citrus-floral, and about 4-6 hours in climate-controlled environments.)

The Absolu version of this leans a bit more floral (I own both) and it a tad denser -- so if you liked this, but wanted something a little different, give the Absolu a shot.

riquero

Like a softer smoother Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate. And actually even better than that one. I hadn’t seen that coming based on the notes, but to me this smells like clearly a rhubarb fragrance, maybe it served as inspiration for the later Nagel creation for the Hermes Cologne series.

Lottie30

This is very elegant and classy. It's what a CEO empowered woman would wear as she walks into the boardroom in which she's about to deliver a presentation. Yes, that type of elegance. The citrus notes are prominent, so if you're not into fresh/citrus scents, this probably isn't for you.

Petrichora

People have been mentioning Earl Grey tea, and I also get a strong bergamot accord, to begin with.
But there's a juicy sourness to it. So I guess it's that particular type of grapefruit.

It's very elegant and well-blended mind you.

The aquatic notes smell really authentic here and don't become too synthetic which always gives me a headache.

To me, this is the most elegant and sophisticated of all fresh scents I've ever come across. Light, uplifting, green, watery, and slowly turning into sunshine in a bottle. Crisp and fresh.

Tsema

Love this! I have both Jour d'Hermes and Absolu. There is a slight unexplainable difference, but I love them both equally. I will also replenish both.

That sour note is to die for. It stays close to your body, so intimate, you just wanna catch a whiff of it now and again. Great for daytime. I use it for bedtime as well.

I would not blindly buy this fragrance, that sour note is not for everyone.

Houdini4

So I recall sniffing this when it came out and thinking 'meh' it's Ellena it's Hermes, it's orangey, it's nice and didn't think much more about it.
Well it's nearly a decade later and I'm revaluating Hermes as being probably the most consistently brilliant of the big fashion house brands. They might not be the most wildly creative but they connect with a lot of fragrance fans and everything from the concepts to the packaging give a great experience to the customer, and the Jour flacon is one of those joyful things.
The smell of the perfume does have some additional sharpness but to me it smells of orange pith, but it almost seems to sidestep that with it's floral (white) focus and when I say focus I mean blur, because it's not the vivid indolic white flowers of jasmine or tuberose but the kinda vague, fantasy muguet and magnolia of white flowers.
But it's soooooo fresh and lovely, with this licked skin, chalky ambergris which I think smells flat to some people (see bigarade concentree) but I think Ellena deliberately juxtaposes this against the zesty freshness. The drydown is a powdery light, caleche lite sort of thing maybe? But quite tenacious without being annoying.
I think it's wonderful and I actually really want this fragrance, especially for the warm weather, it's class.

simetra23

This is the first fragrance I would use - in the best sense of the word - as an everyday scent. It is unobtrusive, light and extremely wearable. It is by no means a statement fragrance, but exudes an air of optimism and lightness. I love it!

Enrium

Jour d'Hermès is a typical example of Jean-Claude Ellena's olfactory watercolour style: light, transparent and masterfully put together. Uplifting and luminous, JH is a delight from opening to drydown. Sheer yet complex, M. Ellena yet again gets the balance just right. It is like a gloriously sunny day, bottled.

JH opens with bright citrus notes, initially juicy grapefruit, then giving way to tangy lemon. Any potential tartness is kept at bay by M. Ellena's soft touch. It is fresh and aquatic, reminiscent of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea. There is a slightly herbal aromatic accord in there too, something akin to petitgrain. Radiantly fresh and nicely nuanced, this opening lasts for a little while, paving the way for the floral heart.

Neroli is the most obvious floral note, bridging the gap between the citrus opening and the bouquet at the heart of JH. I get hints of heady waxy florals like lily and hyacinth, with some rose and sweet pea in there as well. There is a nice green accord that balances out the florals, adding dewy freshness. The overall effect reminds me of flowers growing in the garden in early summer. It becomes woody (vetiver perhaps) as it dries down, and fades to a musky skin scent with remnants of the florals after several hours. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

Deeply pleasant, high quality and very wearable, this is a joyous springtime scent. Feminine-leaning, but could be unisex. Easy, everyday elegance. 4/5.

angelina.hz

Despite the fact that this is my all time favorite, I wish this would last longer on me...

angelina.hz

@evilspin - it's the absolu version (flanker)! Absolu is more feminine

evilspin

Strange, I recall apricot being one of the notes when this was released.

Nicole79

Today I tested for the first time Jour EDP . And....I find it so so similar to Chanel Cristalle eau Verte...🤍.for me, they're the same. Very pretty, flowery, sensual, clean- creamy, transparent, radiant, a little woody , easy to wear, spring, summery fragrance. ! Smells young and classy, expensive and "white" 🤍I really like it a lot, also the color yellow and the bottle are so beautiful 💛 This will be my first Hermes fragrance 🤍

emgailba

This is unexpected, beguiling, elegant, and perhaps one of the most beautiful scents I've ever processed. Do you ever feel a connection with a scent? As if it's a version of yourself you don't yet know? I can't rave enough. On first test, I got waves of citrus, but I felt unsure. After that, I guessed some kind of white flower, maybe lily of the valley. After a note reveal, I was surprised that other reviewers answered vaguely as well, with ideas of "white flowers" and "green notes" and "watery notes" and "woody notes"--it's very hard to pin down, but strikes me as a combination of grapefruit and cold, white florals. It's mysterious and incredibly elegant--perfectly lovely. Dry down contains a bit of "candied cedar", mentioned by another reviewer. This is well blended--perfume in its highest, most artful state, a woman who is effortlessly, carelessly chic.

diatoskova

I do not feel that Jour is the same as Gabrielle at all. They surely have the same vain/type, but I do not find them similar at all.

Jour reminds me of summer in Austria or Germany. To me it smells exactly like elderflower, which is used in a Cocktail popular in the german speaking countries, called Hugo. To me it smells just like it + some freshly brewed tea, in which you have put lemon in, so that the lemon overtakes the smell of the tea.

Gabrielle on the other hand has distinct grapefruit opening + white flowers in the drydown. It also smells more perfumey.

Mystères du Château de Dé

I have the pure parfum, which comes in 7.5ml refills for a golden locket. I found such a bottle for 20 bucks. That's outstanding value for a pure parfum from a famous French house. But then again, maybe not. The truth is I have dimestore fragrances with similar impact - say Women Secret Coconut Temptation. Not the same notes, not a dupe, but it's similar!

This fragrance is gourmand. There's no doubt the top smells of quality - here luxury citrus fruit jellies (the kind offered by artisanal local confiseries in Europe), and French and Italian fruit-based liquors. It's not syrupy sweet rather more like a champagne cocktail made with such liquors. Citrus rind oils - but not an oily smell. Sitting on DEWY white flowers. There is a comestible impact to this fragrance all the way through - thus - a gourmand?

It's light, somewhat subtle, optimistic, honest, innocent and pretty. It would make a nice gift to a teen. If a pop star made this for 25 bucks it would sell gazillions of bottles and nobody would suspect it's a luxury product, rather they would love that it smells great. Or, imagine the perfect Avon citrusy white floral from a bygone era. Or compare to a dimestore take, like the one mentioned above.

Nothing says it can't be unisex. It could be an effective mood changer.

My pure parfum doesn't have impressive longevity.

Summary: pretty innocence.

lianadmtr

One of the most personal perfumes I have had - I feel truly like myself with it. However, since I have had two bottles of it, I believe they have changed the formulation and made it weaker - my second one lasts way shorter than it used to - I cannot feel it after a couple of hours. Otherwise, it is absolutely impeccable.

602campday

Totally get the powdery & sweet lemonade notes but there was somethng lik a green-ness tht I cldnt get w/ decluttering

perfumelovere

Smells exactly like the notes. I get grapefruit, white flowers, sea and musk. Oddly it's feminine but I could see a man pulling this off too. I have aqua universalis forte and these are both clean florals to me. Forte is more clean laundry and this one is blue green fresh. I can't stop smelling my wrist.

Dramaloladiva

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what true art is! When a fragrance transports you elsewhere, you know you have a true masterpiece.

Jour d’Hermès is such a fragrance. It takes me straight to Springtime on some Greek island in a sunshine filled grapefruit orchard where blossoms are filling the air with their sweet scent. Humming bees float around, the sky is a deep blue, I can hear the sea waves in the background and I have no care in the world...sigh, what a beautiful scent...

This isn’t an excessively loud perfume though it does projects a little at first. I love perfumes that don’t project too much. But longevity on this one is phenomenal 12+ hours on my skin. By the end, I smell a slight tinge of honey and of course a beautiful blend of florals. I am absolutely in love with this perfume and I cannot believe it has been under my radar since it came out in 2013!!

Bravo Jean-Claude Ellena, you are a genius!!

Trainwreck Cupcake

Its a lovely citrusy - flowery smell. it opens up really citrusy then balances out with the flowery notes. Smells happy in a way.

smellysmello

This might be the first floral I really fell in love with (there have since been many more). Some florals can feel formal and fussy to me, but Jour d'Hermes is a fresh, modern floral. It's sheer and bright, but still retains the beauty and elegance of a classic floral.

JdH has a citrus opening that is sparkly and happy rather than tart or crisp. From there, fragrant white florals start to bloom. Floral notes are supported by a bit of green and a bit of musk. The combination is serene, joyful and radiant.

Polite projection and lasts a good 5-6hrs on my skin - notable staying power for a Jean-Claude Ellena creation. Lovely and perfect for a fancy event where you want to smell like sophistication infused with sunshine.

breathless

Nice but the citrus is too sharp and covers all other notes.

ingeneuxo

-Light, innocuous citrus floral scent.
-Reminiscent of something from the Un Jardin lineup by Hermes.
-Perhaps the older sister of Un Jardin Sur le Nil.
-Dressed in a crisp white button-down and hair slicked back into an impeccable chignon, the woman I picture wearing Jour d'Hermes is put-together and professional.
-Makes for a good blind-buy. (-)

Found a tester of this in a forgotten in a corner and tried this lazily at home... An ordinary glass vial with the name hand written on the label by a sephora employer.. Could something so unremarkable contains one of the most beautiful fragrance I ever smell? Yes of course! How wonderful does this smell? Candied cedar framed with watery-dewy accents. I've recently start to understand which are really my tastes in therm of fragrance, regardless what is considered a trend or a must have. I have a wide spectrum of parfumes that I like, and equally wider range of ones I dislike. But recently I've found myself caught by man's colognes with citruses and woody notes. Really, how many times I have thought that men colognes are better than most of that musky-ambery-patchouli bombs that are in many woman's parfumes nowadays? So not surprising that I've loved this at first smell. Of course it is neither a cologne nor a masculine smell, but it is a woody ripe citrus, sweet, yet also green and aquatic.
Most Incredible, that citrus sweetness (no, on me these citruses are sweet, not sour,) remains prominent all the time, whereas this kind of notes are always so volatile! No, that delicious opening don't fade, never shaded or overpowered by the beautiful withe flowers and the aquatic notes, which add a discrete gentle touch. The drydown goes a bit further on the woodsy side, but do not change too dramatically. No musk arrives at my nose (and I very glad of this). Overall I am totally in love with this. I am also impressed because the longevity seems pretty good (5-6h, and consider that I made only a single spray from an old tester). The sillage is intimate, that's the only non positive notes. Of cours this isn't the kind of fragrance that are supposed to fill a room (and the heads of the poor guys inside), but maybe considering the price it could have been a bit stronger. I've read many time about the genius of Mr Ellena and in particular during its collaboration with Hermes, and, based on this, I can't but agree.

Murmur123123

A strong white floral with prominent citrus notes. It opens a bit green and fresh, as it dries down, it gets creamier and stronger in the floral notes. Although I bought it with the intention of using it as a scent for work, I think this is more appropriate as a going-out scent as it is very feminine and quite strong. In my husband's words (he knows very little about perfumes), it is "a bit too fragrant for work". A quality creation by JCE and very befitting name and bottle design - glamourous, bright and charming.

Anamandy

I received a sample with another order and while I think it is nice overall, it was hard to get beyond that super sharp and bitter grapefruit note. I have issues with grapefruit. On my skin they tend to go into rotten fruit territory. While that didn't happen here, that cutting grapefruit note was just as bad. This is a pass for me.

pushya_moon

Not bad. I got it in a depressive episode. It feels bookish, and sophisticated, but a little plain.
In me smells extremely sweet, but basic. It did give me some confidence for going to some rendez-vous but it didn't nourish me as much as i would have liked to. It's a little overpriced but it might be good for spring / summer layered with something else.

Shan101beauty

This is a very luxurious and classy citrus with some bitterness. It does give me a bitter fruit rind smell. Its like the rind of the lemon or grapefruit with some creaminess of white florals. I just picture a very elegant well dressed lady in her late 40s/50 who looks like she has her life put together wearing this.

AlexandraTroush

I got a miniature of Jour d'Hermes (and poured it into a spray bottle) just so I could compare it to Gabrielle, which I love, with the hope that Jour would be similar enough for me to buy instead of the much more expensive Gabrielle. Well, they're not at all similar to me, and my nose is really not that refined.

The opening of Jour smells *almost* like Gabrielle for maybe half a second, then goes immediately to creamy floral zone. The reason I love Gabrielle is that citrus explosion, that bitter and obnoxious grapefruit that's present throughout the entire wear-time. I don't get that in Jour. Jour is instead creamy-dreamy, elegant and tasteful.

It might seem like I'm praising Jour, but I really much prefer Gabrielle. I love a bit of sass in my fragrances, something that will make me go "oh god, this is terrible, I LOVE it!". Gabrielle has just that. In comparison, Jour is almost too bland, too "correct", too appealing. It's loved by everybody, but lacks character. I'm not saying that Gabrielle isn't elegant, it definitely is, but it has just that something that hints at the mischievous character of the wearer. It's almost like that saying- "lady in the streets, freak in the sheets". Gabrielle likes a bit of kink, Jour only ever does the missionary.

valevaleria

I get mostly citrus out of this one and you can tell by far that this is made by Ellena.

catswearingperfume

A lovely citrusy, floral that is both creamy and a touch aquatic. The citrus is only really present in the opening and heart, it is aromatic and sunny, with absolutely nothing harsh or sharp about it. Its transition into the florals happens so smoothly, it's actually a bit of a marvel to me. There's a very light touch of sweetness throughout, almost like a drop of honey. Perhaps that is a quality of the sweet pea? That light sweetness remains throughout the life of the scent.

Jour d'Hermes is elegant, airy, and smooth. It makes me think of sighing in contentment.

For me, a daytime scent that I will wear year round. But it does seem like it was made for spring or summer. Longevity on skin is a few hours, a couple more hours on clothes. Projection is on the low side, as is the sillage. It wears close to the skin but not quite to the degree where I would call this a skin scent.

Certainly office appropriate, but romantic enough for a day date. It's hard not to feel put together while wearing this. Sometimes I want to bury my face in it.

bethjwb

This reads to me like a grapefruit drizzled with honey next to a vase of flowers. It’s very pretty, but too floral for me. For people who enjoy white florals this would be lovely.

HibiscusLola

Wow, this is very luxurious.
Definitely suitable for spring and summer, Jour makes me feel effortlessly beautiful and somewhat protected, it’s like is hugging me, even if it’s very airy and citrusy.
A perfect classy scent which makes you feel put together and elegant.
The bottle is precious.

PerfumeForLainy

Let the summer come, I am ready. This glorious heavy bottle( 85ml weighs over halv a kilo!) has everything I need. Big, juicy, sweet, aromatic lemons that ripened on the tree and are getting so warm in the sun, that the scent spreads all over the garden. The effect lasts for an hour or so and then calmes down to an almost skin scent that lasts forever. I do not get much else, but that is to be expected from my skin type, top and heart notes last for a long time.
Increadibly photorealistic experience and a very enjoyable one. Yes, there is some greenery, some sweetness from the flowers, but lemons are center stage for me, giving warmth and lifting up spirit.

Peacelovecolorart

The opening is so strongly contrasting to the close its almost shocking. Starts off green, watery, fresh, bright. By the time it dries down, all of this has disappeared and is replaced by a stranger- a deep, strong musky spice. I’m a little perplexed by the mood and personality, so I’m not sure when I’ll want to wear it. Perhaps when Summer turns to Fall, application being in the afternoon when the weather heats up so that the cool down of the evening can coincide with this warm, spicy dry down. So specific an occasion that I probably won’t wear this often.

blossomka

5.5/10. Starts with sourness, Sauvignon Blanc-like cat piss. Also bitter fruit rind. Then effervescent fermented apples. Sweet white flower and meyer lemon after time. Not a safe blind buy.

brokesta911

Hermes Jour d’hermes (2013) - radiant bouquet - #jeanclaudeellena could have made one of his most complex perfumes during his stint in Hermes. Try to imagine digging your nose in a bouquet of assorted white florals - that’s exactly what it smells like. Sure, there are some nuances such as a watery-accord, musk and wood as a base, but a glorious white floral accord throughout.

LaContessina

Ah....Hermès and its glorious packaging! I was instantly drawn to touch the heavy glass with rounded edges (reminescent of the Jardins bottles but more refined), sturdy but very feminine bottle, a pleasure to handle.
The outer packaging is also extremely elegant: pure white, the name "Jour d'Hermès" engraved in gold lettering, and most of all, the brilliant ton-sur-ton (white on white) symbol and logo of the Maison etched on the box, you feel it with your fingertips rather than seeing it.
And that says much about this fragrance, it's pure refinement of the senses and not only the olfactory one!

The fragrance itself is nice and elegant. Nothing that will make you stumble of swoon; indeed, to my nose it is a very close relative to Cartier Baiser Volé (in edp).

A green floral, the very first notes scream Hermes, it's the common thread you find in the Jardins series, but soon it develops into white flowers, especially lily, but I can detect a hint of rose, green violet, hyacinth and a vanilla/white musk base.
There is some tomato leave (see Ninfeo mio by Annick Goutal) and galbanum, another green note.
Feminine but fresh, very spring like, very Baiser Volé, although this one is more powdery to my nose, it has more iris.
In a nutshell: easy to wear, good sillage, feminine and elegant; not unique in its gender but lovely to own and enjoy.

Zsedit

Szeretem, kell, hogy legyen. Citrus, krém, Hermés élmény tartósan! ;)

QueenieIrenie

I received this one several years ago as a gift. I don't use it often because I enjoy looking at the bottle on my vanity, and because it's Hermes, which I don't inherently think of as an everyday fragrance. It's bright and citrusy, and dries down to almost a soapy green floral. I like it, but would probably enjoy it more if it was a little lighter on the citrus and a little heavier on the white florals. I decided to try layering this with Mancera's Roses Vanille, however, and I LOVE the combination! Both have lemon and water notes listed as top notes, and I think the two fragrances really complement each other. The citrus and green notes are toned down in Jour d'Hermes and the sweetness is toned down a bit in Roses Vanille. Together, they create a sweet, fresh, dreamy daytime fragrance that makes me feel like I'm at a garden party. It's a total mood booster for me during this time when I barely leave the house.

CdeBXL

Zesty agrumes, green, very green, floral.
Soft and definitely safe for work. Yet, in a solid House of Hermès Monsieur Ellena tradition a very distinguished fragrance.
Upon dry down more layered play between the greens, gardenia and citrus, and gentle musk and woods.
Not huge in sillage and longevity, just perfect actually for a sunny day with an aquatic Mediterranean breeze wafting through the shore pines.

A very elegant understated scent, a fresher sister of flanker Absolu.
A strong ilke. Such class.
And the bottle, equal to Jour Absolu but with monochrome white cap, is an absolute heavy stunner.

MannyOyson

You know! I read reviews of this being bright and sunny and citrus-tangy but I just went to Hermes today (and bought myself a Gift Set of Four with x2 MYRHH EGLANTINE and x2 OSMANTHUS YUNNAN.)

JOUR D HERMES is too tame and musky to my nose to be anything but fleeting and skin-like-- you might be mistaking it for KELLY CALECHE (HERMES)! That perfume's EDP hits all the right buttons-- zesty, bright, happy, and smells of its $200+AUD price!

If you want something safe for office, JDH is good, but KELLY CALECHE EDP is right there too-- and just as delicate! It's not much of a price difference either ($204AUD for JDH VS $239AUD for KC.) KELLY CALECHE EDP is graceful in its control of delicateness and olfactory presence even! (Also if you're thinking of getting the EDT, its about as close to the skin as JDH and more fruit-watery.)

MagdalenaM

it smells like being very rich and also parsley

Gintaxx

This is my another go-to hot weather scent, in rotation with Fleur de Portofino, by Tom Ford. It's a beautiful light, white citrusy floral. I do own Absolu as well, and they are very similar to me, with Absolu being sweeter, with a more prominent grapefruit note. Agree with other reviews that it's a more unique floral scent, yet very lovable and pleasant.

mylena

I am sitting by the pool, and decided to try this from a sample bottle I have had for a while. At first the citrus opening really put me off. Very green, and almost sour. But I resisted the temptation to wash it off, and after about 30 minutes, it has turned into a soft flowery, beautiful scent. Sadly, it is disappearing very fast. I will try it again.

Ray Lidya

A beam of sunshine. It also reminds me of lemon meringue tart. Tangy sensation with just right amount of sweetness. It is a really uplifting perfume

lombredansleau

Citrus and gardenia embrace in a refined and fresh creation. Beautiful fragrance for Spring and Summer time, you will surely stand out for smelling uniquely chic.

vanillaflower77

sunshine and happiness,
I love this is hot weather when the sun is beating down
i am not a huge tuberose fan, but everything is so well blended, it is an expert creation
wow, just exquisite

Citrus, citrus, citrus, and citrus. It's dominantly citrus and musk. At the first spirit you can clearly define lemon and slight musc. Gradually, after about half an hour the lemon will decline leaving that citrus and very low sweetness of grapefruit with increasing musk. The green notes start to emerge with shy vibes of white flowers.
The dry down is citrus, green and musk on a background of wood that makes it classy.
I can smell low sweetness of honey despite it's not listed there, which reminds me of diva by emanuelle ungaro.
Despite the citrus is so bold and heavy that I can taste in the back of my mouth; but it is so pleasant and fresh.
The scent 8/10

Longevity 7/10

I love it. Bright, happy, beautiful.. such a joy to wear <3

Well in those cuarentine days i was pregnant but unfortunately I loose it. I have been ups and downs. I have paint, read, do some meditation to connect with the higher energy and this fragrance has help me to focus in the bright side of the life.
Life is now, life is the current jour/day, this is the only thing we can touch, smell or feel. It is upon us change the energy...
Focus on the light, breathe and continue, because this is how life is, fall, get up and continue.
Hope you all find your inner spirit.

Deidra44

Lovely! I'm hooked on the smell. Such a marvelous fragrance and stands out so freshly that it is impossible to resist! Would definitely repurchase.

Babs48

Jean Claude Elena has created another wonderful scent! I bought this fragrance blind and was delighted and in love at first whiff. It is a lovely light floral scent that is a perfect warm weather scent although as our winter seems longer than usual I find myself using this fragrance to remind me that spring will arrive. The bottle is beautiful and I like that it is refillable.

Cherrybubble

Juicy, tangy and tarte! I'm salivating at the smell 😋 Such a warm citrus, not sharp at all. As a migraine sufferer I absolutely hate screechy scents that nip my nose and trigger my headaches so I was very wary sampling this. I started with a tiny drop and was bowled over in such a good way. I can see a beautiful sunny day when I sniff this

Preeti77

Definitely a chherful and uplfting summer fragrance.
Citrus and bright with lots of white florals and hint of green.

Love it - its the little white chiffon dress for every female.
Does not last very long though.

istvan.buda.779

Went to Saks last year and the girl at the counter kept showing me designer fragrances that was labeled as male . I asked her to spray this on a paper for me and this smelled more masculine to me than one designer " that brand was so forgettible i dont even remeber which one was it " .SO here is another example why i find labeling non sense , this could be a unisex perfume all way thru

bleu_canard

I'm not usually into florals, but this one is such a beautiful scent. It's interesting that most seem to associate it with spring and summer. For me, it evokes early autumn, when there are still some flowers around but the light is softer, the heat ebbs into gentle warmth and the mind dances with impressions and memories... Also, am I the only one to sense the presence of blackcurrant?

mlrd217

What a fresh perfume for hot weather! I love it! It opens up very bright, fresh, a little sour from the grapefruit/lemons, a little sharp but not screeching sharp, then it mellows to a very delicious fresh, reminds me to a freshly squished lemonade drink with a little sweetness. When it's dry, it becomes subtle/soft, very smooth but noticeable. The longevity is pretty good, on clothes it lasts about 6-8 hours I think. It could be a signature perfume for summer.
UPDATE: one spray is subtle/soft, 2-3 sprays last a lot longer on skin and the projection is great. So if you want it to be stronger, you can spray multiple times, it won't offend anyone.

Boston lass

Since Caleche eau Delicate was discontinued, this is my daily wear. It's highly suitable for the office, where I am generally found, and I think it's extremely beautiful yet unobtrusive overall. While I have a dozen current bottles at any given time, this is what I reach for most.

BubbleBee

For me, i think this EDP is suitable for mature lady. And it is for fall season rather than in spring or summer, right? No doubt, it smells like elegant style.

Obsessed3

I had L'Erbolario - Osmanthus 2 or 3 years ago and I gave the full bottle as a agift to a friend because of the synthetic note that used to appear in 30 minutes after spraying the perfume on my skin. Today I tried and actually bought Jour d'Hermes because I got fooled again by the opening which is identically with L'Erbolario (maybe more harsher), I smelled white flowers, fresh cut greens and seemed very wearable in this hot weather, but yet...after 30 minutes the syntethic note appears and stings my nose, its like a bush of osmanthus wrapped in plastic (no gardenia, no jasmin), and I desperatelly love osmanthus flowers since I was for the first time in Italy.
Therefore, "in my nose`s opinion", Osmanthus is the same as Jour d`Hermes with more lasting power and sillage - around 3 hours is powerfull.

pozimhoff

Sunny, juicy, happy and clean. Great for an active day, picking up the kiddies at school or bedtime. Pony tail, no make up day time scent.

animalia

A sweet/sour white floral, very fresh, not overly sweet. Very pleasant and luxurious. Lasting power is great, a fragrance will usually last two three hours on my skin before it becomes a skin scent, but with two sprays 8 hours later it still is as strong as when I first sprayed.

nadicamihajlovic

Smells like sugary lemonade from the sixties drive-in restaurants!
A very familiar and evoking scent that transports you back into the time of dolled up young ladies, driving in mint green Cadillacs with their sweethearts. Juicy and flirtatious yet partly elegant and well behaved also...Definitely, it doesn't smell modern or timeless but very much into the spirit of the sixties, somewhere in America...

courant

This fragrance is at its best, a stellar performer in hot weather. I don't bother with it mid seasons.

floralscents88

beautiful inoffensive scent. my bottle is now 1/4 full. will definitely repurchase.

booksandperfume

In the perfume section of the Hermès website, Jour is described as “zenithal” and “paradoxical”, so if I had not already smelt it, I would have disliked it immediately. What the perfume actually is; a high-quality, effervescent, straightforward, citrusy floral, that is easy to like and easy to ignore.
I was given a gift set of Jour d’Hermès, that included the Eau de Parfum and the body cream, tucked inside an incredibly beautiful box printed to look like an Hermès scarf (what this house unequivocally does best). I adored the box at first glance and after application came to truly enjoy the body cream as well. In many ways the body cream may even smell better than the perfume, which after a few spritzes and due to its poor sillage and my being anosmic to one of its top notes, I stopped wearing altogether. All until a couple of week later, when I slipped on a sweater I had been wearing when I last had spritzed Jour on me and found myself wondering what that yummy smell was.If I could have it my way, I would keep only the grapefruit and base notes and pour the resulting juice in the bottle for Twilly (I would also keep the Twilly ad campaign which has been head-and-shoulders above anything that has come out of the beauty industry advertising machine in years).

rebred

I am in love with the perfume. It's subtle and sophisticated. Feminine without being cloying or overly sweet. It smells like the love child of a gardenia bush and a blooming lemon tree: incredibly fresh and inviting.

I had been searching for a perfume to replace my discontinued signature scent, Voile de Jasmine. I can honestly say that this is better. It's the worldly older sister of that scent. Confident, feminine, alluring.

zo_smells

Why would anyone ever label this as a women's perfume is beyond contempt?!!
Sheer splendor of joy and cheeky classiness in a bottle wins hands down on any day of the year.
Some irresistible herbalish, zestiness with a well rounded and creamy firmness.
Simply delicious!
For me 10+/10

p.s.
It has absolutely nothing(!!!) to do with that Chanel/Gabrielle abomination of a scent, whoever suggested that...

Bubbles1964

If there's a more natural representation of grapefruit, then I don't know it. A Hermes sales associate described Jour d'Hermés as the day version, and Jour d'Hermés Absolu as the night version scent.

Jour is bright and clean with dominant citrus notes supported by inextinguishable florals. I don't think it's incredibly unique but it is lovely and perfect for summer temps. This has good performance at around 4 hours before turning to a skin scent.

I own Absolu, so I won't be picking this one up even though I like it better.

Cherry_Darling

I get a real rhubarb feel from this, great quality ingredients, however doesn't really last on me - few hours tops. But I do love it, and such a good one for summer. Fresh and juicy :)

churinl

A citrus fragrance for those who don't care for citrus fragrances. My previous citrus fave was Atelier's Clementine California, or is it California Clementine - I can't remember. Jour just knocked it to second place. Incredibly well blended and balanced composition. I have just begun investigating Hermes fragrances, and so far, I like what I am smelling. If I had to use one word to describe this, I would say "golden"!

Pavleena

Elegant perfume for hot days.

Starts with a fresh combo of grapefruit and lemon, then develops into a - still fresh - bouquet of white flowers. I get mainly gardenia and magnolia, but there might be also orange blossom and tuberose. The base notes of musk and wood frame this composition quite nicely.

It lasts about six hours with moderate sillage.

If you want something like this but sweeter/fruitier, buy Chanel's Gabrielle instead.

foli.1

I might not have a developed nose but I don’t like this. I’m glad I got a 0.5 oz of this but man I was hoping this would open me up to Hermès perfumes. Not a fan

CW81

To me this is a bright, yet woody, sharp white floral with barely no sweetness and I really like it. The sharpness, in my opinion, comes from some of the “woodsy notes” and the grapefruit. On my skin it opens with a big burst of grapefruit and once it has settled the woods and white florals are dominating. The citruses calm down but never goes completely away. It is great during hot summer days, because the sharpness really cuts through the heat. If you like citrusy, woody white florals with an edge I think you should give this one a sniff. On me it lasts all day, which is a bit weird since other reviewers only get 3-4 hours and my skin normally eats perfume. I like it a lot and will gladly use up my bottle, but I don’t think I will repurchase.

Chainani

Summer in a bottle. Fresh, floral and citrusy. Its not your dated typical fresh scent..i find it sophisticated and elegant. Not a fan of the bottle though but the juice inside is upto the mark.

memaize

Just got this and I LOVE it. Starts with a citrus burst but quickly turns to a beautiful creamy honey (but with an edge) floral. it's clean, it's pretty but not too sweet. The dry down had a scent of sitting in the sun at the beach...a bit of salt came in and kissed my arm Lovely
This is only my 2nd Hermes - for some reason I never gave them much thought. It is a nice surprise

pjspaceshit

Best perfume ever. Maybe it is just me, but along with the gorgeous citruses and florals I also get a dose of fresh honey, which makes it sooo yummy!

BottledUp

Sunlight and joy in a bottle. This opens up with a very gentle citrus and an array of white florals. This starts out quite soft and actually becomes more potent and floral over time. I can smell hints of a few different florals: tuberose, jasmine, lily of the valley, and maybe a hint of rose. But Jour d'hermes is so well blended that the overall impression is a very wearable white floral and it can be hard to pick out notes.

Stunning and appropriate for all different ages. I think this would be a good introduction to white florals for people having trouble getting used to them.
This fragrance manages to be modern and youthful, while also being very memorable and mature. Give it a sniff if you haven't.

The only downside is longevity, which is about 4 to 5 hours on me. But that's a small con in my opinion.

A note on the Parfum: I got a really good deal on a bottle of parfum in the flacon and it is slightly richer than the EDP, but overall I think the spray is a much better option. The difference is very minimal and the parfum doesn't last or project quite as well as I feel it should. If you can get it for a bargain it might be worth it, but otherwise stick to the spray.

raiza1990

This smells like old sweat and powder.
I tested it on the store today, without looking at the notes, unfortunately. At the very beginning i could smell the white flowers and the citrusy touch of the grapefruit. It did already smell like body odour but with time it only got worse.
I can not wait to wash it out.
Now, about the quality: i can not say it is bad. Sillage is good and longevity too and it does have a expensive vibe to it.
I just think it is stinky.

justfloral

Beautiful absinthe / wormwood note (Artemisia absinthium) + anise + hint of saucer magnolia (Magnolia x soulangeana). Elegant, herbal, optimistic. Like a bright, sunny day, new beginning. In my opinion this one is not similar to Gabriele Chanel. Try it if you like Le Jardin De Monsieur Li or Un Jardin Sur Le Toit (similar solar-herbal note).
Color: Moss green, olive drab, green and gold.

IngaMM

I’ve tested this fragrance in summer and winter time and I’m sorry to say this now, but on me this is just an indecisive citrus fragrance. The name of the house suggests that it should be elegant and unique, to me it’s neither. Sorry Hermès.

LindaPerfume93

I usually despite citrusy perfumes because they don´t go well with my skin chemistry... but this is pure magic! Incredibly sophisticated. I really appreciate the combination of gardenia, white flowers and grapefruit.

lulami

Jour d'Hermés should be one of the best and most honourable representatives of the Citrus family. I tend to dislike this group because on me anything citrus smells too sour like lemon juice but this perfume is more balanced, it's not a sharp, acidic and pungent citrus but a more rounded, full and mature one. Initially on the first sprays it opens with notes that make me think of Gabrielle only I tend to think Jour is more heavy on the citrus whilst Gabrielle leans more on the floral notes. I like them both. Even though they share some similarities they still stand on their own as distinctive and quality scents . I think Jour could be a stunning and luxurious perfume in summer and I'd like to see how it develops in hot weather.

yanti

Gigantic citrus.. Not the kind of airy naive citrus.. This is mature citrus, a dense jammed sour citrus mix with flower, a little bouquet of expensive white flower on top of fragrance wood cabinet. Absolue's younger sister. It is sunny like a sun in late spring. Spray too much you can taste its sourness in your chest. This is different and beautiful fragrance.

mirenaf

First of all - I hate the bottle, but I adore the perfume. Gentle, ethereal, feminine. I feel mainly white flowers and gardenia, but also the slight flavor of citrus. Perfume is wonderful for spring - when trees emit the same freshness and beauty.

JenJones28

This is just going to show how different people smell things differently. There is a strong bug spray smell in the top note of this. And I can’t figure out what it is. I know it’s got to be me and that I perceive something differently than what others are smelling. It’s like when some people smell elemi and it smells like pickles to them. Anyone have any ideas? It’s really bumming me out. I want to love this fragrance.

_christine_

Jour d'Hermès is one of my favorite office scents. It's light, crisp and doesn't project beyond one's personal space. It has an air of clean, fresh water and lightly soapy florals.

When Chanel Gabrielle debuted, many people mentioned how much it imitated Jour d'Hermès. I think that they are quite similar and I prefer the Hermès.

Jour d'Hermès quite womanly and lovely. It's well worth owning for days when you need a bit of lift.

Plumaria

Joy, light and grace were the words that came into my mind when I first smelled this fragrance and I immediately envisioned Grace Kelly in the movie High Society wearing that white dress and sitting around the blue pool while men swirl around her languishing for her. This is the scent of an elegant, beautiful woman, restrained and passionate at the same time.

This fragrance is not sexy but it makes you feel sexy in a subtle way. People around me seem to love it. One day a young colleague that wore Mademoiselle asked me what was the suave perfume I was wearing. I had to laugh inside of me because I think that Mademoiselle has a similar dry down but it is louder, scratchier and overwhelming at the point of being almost unbearable whereas Jour is a smooth operator with low to moderate silage but exceptional longevity.

I remember when it came out some parfumista where disappointed because it wasn't something really groundbreaking, but I really liked it because I love all Jean-Claude Ellena's scents, especially the Jardin series, and I missed something very similar, only more explicitly feminine, a sort of Jardin de Femme, for those days when you want the freshness of the Jardin fragrances but also want to feel exquisitely feminine. I think that he nailed this one, at least for me.
I love the citruses that make it refreshing, luminous and sparkling, I love the delicate white flowers that make it creamy, feminine, elegant, and I love the mysterious woods and spices that make it so exotic, so unmistakably Hermes.

The name Jour is perfect and the refillable bottle is very elegant, even if I would have loved the cap to be more balanced with the rest of the design, like the one of the pure perfume.
In case you like this scent but is seems too expensive, there is a perfume from the Italian house L'Erbolario called Osmanthus that is 90% identical and extremely affordable. The shower gel and body lotions are SLS free and also divine.

Those who have read Susan Cain's book "Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Shouting" will immediately relate to this scent. Those for whom things must be spoken but not shouted, yet their message is equally strong.

A quiet, but nevertheless complex and beautiful scent where the lemon and sweet pea, familiar Jean-Claude Ellena's favourites, play along with the gardenia, making it peppery and almost rocket salad-like. A perfume which needs to be reapplied and re-experienced several times a day, to be heard and in fact listened to.

Reading "Diary of a Nose" by Ellena, you can understand his character more, and guess that he is a sensitive soul, a man who doesn't need to shout, just like his perfumes.

But he also describes how as a perfumer, he tries to see each note as devoid of any association or emotion, in order to use it as a part of a musical-like olfactory composition in which the whole perfume, not the single floral or woodsy or aquatic note, expresses an emotion. Yet you can still feel them all, just like listening to a piece by Brahms you can hear the single instruments but it is the whole composition that gives you feelings you never explored before, every single time.

You see, if this composition were shouty, in-your-face like most contemporary, market-led perfumes, it just wouldn't work. Ellena is a one-of-a-kind perfumer who believes the idea of scent needs to evolve with the times, but never in the direction of vulgarity, always in the direction of simple, understanted elegance.

Daisy143

Grapefruit, Lemon and gardenia. Not for me. All I get from this is massive citrus and gardenia. I wish I like gardenia.

polkadot27

Absolutely beautiful scent. Smells like heaven in a bottle- it is to die for. Crazily expensive though, this makes me sad.

Mirella86

I have just started to like Hermes perfumes few months ago, when I bought Le jardin du Monsieur Li. After that, I started to like more and more from this brand, because they are mostly fresh, citrusy and a little crisp, without being suffocating or boring. They make me feel energized. However, they all seems to have some distinctive note, so I guess you don't need them all - so far I've tried Jour, Kelly Caleche, Voyage and all the Jardins, and it seems they have something citrusy that is very similar. I like them all, but I find I do not need them all, they are not different enough

evie71

I’m writing a new review for this fragrance as it has become my all time favorite. Nothing is quite like this one for me; it’s sunny and crisp, yet soft and soothing. It manages to be all seasons and all times of day at once. It feels like the golden heat of the Mediterranean in summer, sunlight on the piles of crisp leaves in fall, a clear blue sky over the barrenness in winter, and the first real warmth of the year in spring.

The sillage and longevity are low-moderate, but that is perfect for me. It can’t be over applied and offends pretty much no one. This is a fragrance that is meant to be worn and enjoyed by the wearer more than anything else. I’m even tempted to go so far as to call it a subtle modern masterpiece.

aconeyisland

Me-time scent, a quiet, calming one, that leaves you alone with your thoughts. I would define it Zen. Something an ideal Madame Li could wear while Monsieur is in his kumquat jardin.

tandaina

Well shoot. This is lovely, but it's also gone in about 2 minutes. :

mutintabailey

This is such a beautiful perfume, however the longevity in projection is not there! I spray it and then within 10-15 minutes gone, unless you press your nose against where you sprayed it.
For the money that you pay for it, it does not warrant the price tag.
I was taken by how amazing all the hermes prefumes are, they are beautiful.
But definitely not with the projection and I love a strong perfume!
Even on my clothes you hardly smell it!
I have a 100 mils of this that I have to use but I end up spraying so much
A expensive purchase!

slangevin

Smell so good ! What a fresh green notes perfum. I just love it !!

Violinplayah

Office safe citrus and white floral. Well made, sunny and fresh. Medium longevity and fairly close silage. Nothing life changing, but definitely likeable, wearable, and a generally safe blind buy.

ANNAFRYS

I have been complemented a lot.
Not a fan.
Too fresh too imbalanced for me.
Its like too much green for me

mutintabailey

This is the best perfume I have smelt in a while, really unusual differently completely.
First smell on spray is a strong grapefruit and white flowers, in the most beautiful way
Brought this whilst in mexico beautiful for the summer!
A beautiful citrus smell, that lasts on the skin and makes you feel clean and fresh.
Beautiful smell

Happyme2009

Not a review, because this has enough reviews already, and I reviewed the Parfum version of this. They are quite similar. Clearly, a scent that depends massively on your chemistry. Some hate it ,some adore it. If you happen to be in the latter group as I am, know that the day when you wear this ( or the pure parfum version too ), your day will be sprinkled with compliments . Literarily speaking Jour de Hermes in edp and in Parfum are my most complimented scents, along with Organza Indecence from Givenchy. Are they my most loved ? No, because roses and vanilla hold the deeper layers of my heart, but they seem to just fit me so well that I will always have them in my collection .
As another reviewer with whom I agree put it below, this is bottled sunshine .

Neosmiaphyte

Bright, green, fresh. The opening is sharp, bright, tangy citrus. On my skin it was screeching. It fades into a bitter gardenia laced with geranium scent. The sweet pea tries to break through to soften the bitterness, but it too subtle and does not succeed. There are hints of water, but not enough to call it watery. There is musk and a light wood background rounding out the flowers. Wood is not a major player here.
The notes listed are exactly what you get with Jour d'Hermes. Definitely a "perfumey" perfume.

I love Hermes and Ellena's nose behind it was a guarantee that I will love this one. But something went wrong, I guess it is my chemestry :-(
Usually, on my skin, almost all fragnaces are projected as on test paper, but not this one. It was lemon for 2 min, than mild floral, quite linear and gone within 15min, literaly no track of it what so ever. And during those 15 min, there was no wow, not even like and tried so hard to love it. I guess not a safe blind buy.

Ariella_essenzia_lux

This is a strong lemony scent with lots of gardenia. I find it pretty linear..It does last quite some time so I wear it mostly to the gym or when I am studying.

So silky, smooth and creamy. I love it! This fragrance likes me lol.

It's one of those perfumes that lingers much longer than others on me. After spraying it, on my skin, it gives a burst of orangey lemony sweetness with a little warmness to it. Instead of mellowing out like most perfumes, the dry down hits me! More orangey lemony sweetness, more warmth.

Definitely a creeper - I recall my first experience with Jour De Hermes, and I loved the scent on me immediately. And, then a few hours later - the scent grew stronger (instead of calming down). Kind of freaked me out, surprising. I was like "Is that me? Damn, that's crazy! I smell good!" Lol. That, & I always get compliments on how great I smell.

Mormon Woman.

I usually love the job of Ellena, especially when he works with green notes. But this one is a big NO for me.
It smell like a melon poisoned by ivy. Yes it smell like a sort of acid odd melon, a bitter melon killed by herbicide. I don't joke, if I will dare to imagine the smell of an abandoned greenhouse-laboratory in Fukushima I would say Jour D'Hermes.
Well the firsts minutes really recalled to me the smell of gastric juices.
After a while it becomes more flowery and fruity, in some way remember me Mira-bai by Chopard. But this sort of aura of chemical product for plants, polish leaves, forniture wax, I don't know.
In some way it is a nice fragrance But Make me think to some very maniacally clean house as picture. Maybe smell a like a sort of sweetened honeyed orangy cleansing cream for metal surfaces. Can't say.
Those Must be personals associations. Trauma of mine. I see a very religious rigid woman in high buttoned white shirt wearing this scent. Those woman with sanitizer for hands always in their pockets.
Reminds me Hedera by l'Erbolario as well.

MikiRae

This is a lovely fresh feminine scent. It's funny, on me it reminds me a lot of Rhubarb Ecarlate which I have and enjoy. This feels like a more feminine version of it. Yes I know the notes are completely different but I swear I smell rhubarb. Anyhow it's a lovely everyday Fragrance with soft to moderate sillage and moderate longevity. It's a Pleasant and non offensive light, sweet and sour floral.

MaiCecile

I think this is pretty, but I don't think I've grown into it yet. It smells like something I hope a future me would wear.
Fruity, spicy flowers that remind me of the sophistication of Fleur de Rocaille and the warmth of English Pear & Freesia. I was surprised that there is no rose or freesia, but the the sweet pea must be what adds the sweetness, and the woods the depth.
Perfect for all occasions or seasons. This could be a signature scent for an elegant (but strong) female CEO.
Not incredibly interesting, but very pretty.

gugute

Such a shame, me and Hermes don't seem to get along. Most of their perfumes disagree with my skin chemistry and after the initial 30 seconds either disappear or turn into something I wouldn't want to smell of.
Same with this. On me, it is Cif bathroom cleaner. Harsh to the point of being irritating and sadly not pleasant at all.
What a shame.

Black_Swan

Another Hermes hit for me. Elegant, fresh and gauzy - delicately floral and citrus together without being overwhelming either. It's like the gentlest, warm breeze flowing through a sheer white curtain on a sunny summer day. So pretty! Good choice when you want to smell nice but not in a perfumy kind of way.

ldetrich

I own many perfumes from Hermes, this is the newest addition to my collection, I love it.
On me, it's a honeyed soft green fruity/floral, in the same family as Baiser Vole by Cartier and J'adore by Dior, which I own both. It has a opening of citrus, but without the sharp, bracing edges. After an hour, a warm not too sweet and delicate (from the sweet pea?) green floral emerges, with a touch of fruit notes from the rhubarb.

To differentiate between this and the other versions of Jour. I tried the Absolu and it veered quite sweet. I tried the Jour Gardenia, and it became screechy and sharp, which is unusual because my skin usually wears gardenia well.

Hermes Jour lasts approximately six hours on me with moderate sillage, longer if you layer it over the body cream.

A friend purchased the Jour in body oil, if anyone else has seen that version, I'd be very interested in knowing if and where it's available.
Thanks!

Mayenaise

I was looking for a new fragrance, something I'd like to reach for as often as my favorites. This captured the fresh, white citrus scent I would wear for client meetings. I don't know how but it simply evokes a serene kind of happiness when i wear it. Another one I foresee loving for a long time.

Victoria Regia

I wanted to love this, but it is entirely too musky for me. I tried it several times, but I cannot carry it.

flashrainbow

Another obsession for the past few weeks. Refreshing scent over the 'dark-sweet' fragrance recently. Fresh and elegant at the same time. Hermes kind of fresh - if you know what i mean. The bitterness is still there and blended very nicely.

The smell of a gorgeous wealthy lady walking in white maxi summer dress with a big hat and shades cover her face, holding her purse with freshly french-manicured. I had hard weeks at work and love life, but this bottle keeps my head and chin up every morning.

I think if you love Baiser Vole, Michael Kors, Idylle, No.5 L'eau then you'd fall for this. The sillage is okay but the longevity is a madness. J'adore!

Always got compliments everytime i wear this. Sometimes if i want tone it down, i layer with Chloé. Even women would sniff you. Be careful! <3

Edemay

I had dismissed this for so long because i thought the notes looked boring.
I thought that jour gardenia and absolu would suit me better.
But they both turned weird on my skin.
This on the other hand is perfect.
It smells just like the hotel i was staying in at Bangkok, and i had been searching for a scent that smelt just like it since the beginning of the year.
Its rich, classy and fresh smelling. I get mostly spicy sweet pea and bitter grapefruit.
Thankfully its not sour like absolu.
Im not sure how no one else has smelt the similarities between this and my burberry. They smell very similar except this is missing the rose and extra fruitiness.
I prefer this.

edit: all the jour fragrances have sparkles in them

Tara Yeiter

Fresh white floral and citrus that dries down to a cozy musk. Clean without getting powdery, soapy or too sweet. It only lasts 2-3 hours on my skin but it was delightful enough to buy a FB. I feel like Audrey Hepburn in this perfume.

tessaeastgate

Even if you are not into bright citrus florals, you will, at least, have to admit that Jour d'Hermes is high quality stuff.

Bright citrus immediately upon spraying, and I love how Jour d'Hermes smells like grapefruit peel on me, and not the fruit itself. Thus there is that detectable bitterness that I really like in well made zesty perfumes, and that certainly keeps the fragrance from straying into air freshener territory (I quite dislike how so many citrus fragrances eventually smell like Febreze to me).

This would be a good start for those who want to try something different for summer, but are not daring enough to walk too far away from the "safe zone". There is a soft velvet to it that is uncommon in citrus fragrances. I certainly am not one to wear something too adventurous during warm weather, but I do think that this is unique enough to be distinguishable from the other "fresh" scents on days when the temperature rises.

HAPPY JUNE DAY

I like Jour D'Hermes a lot! In fact, I Love it! Though it's name implies you wear it at daytime, I use it all throughout the day. I used to hate gardenia but this made me like it. Floral but not annoying. It's citrus enough. It's a HAPPY smell to me.

Skayalily

This is my Grandmother's back yard. I'm astounded at how well this captures the scent and evokes a feeling of the place for me; I couldn't have even told you what it smelled like before I smelled this perfume. The backyard is on Sarasota Bay and there's a pool, and a (really big) grapefruit tree. There's a Magnolia tree in the next door neighbor's yard. The yard doesn't have any grass, it's all stones with some grouped tropical greenery. And Jour d'Hermes smells exactly like stepping out of her screenroom and walking past the Grapefruit tree, down towards the dock.

The clean, bright grapefruit is the strongest player throughout the entire scent. In the opening it's paired with tingly aquatics. The opening is very fresh, the scent wafts almost as if carrying its own breeze for a good while. The "fresh watery" vibe lingers on and moves into the background. The florals develop with skin warmth, sweet and white. The sillage backs down to just off the skin for the rest of the weartime. It lasts about 6+ hours on my skin.

ArcanaBotanica

Light and lovely at first. Anticipated depth, as with Jardin sur le Nil. Not even close. Cannot imagine that an old house like Hermes is now using synthetics, but it seems that way.

Another reviwer smelled pelargonium. I wish that I did. I like the Jour that she smelled.

What I thought after about 20 minutes: I could not wait to wash it off. One reviewer said Weleda shampoo. That is about right. My first thought was Bed Bath and Beyond.

Must admit that my sur le Nil is several years old. I did not smell it at the store but it will try it next time. sur le Nil warms with the light incense/wood in the mix. Still get compliements when I wear it.

Jour was a huge disappointment. Other than sur le Nil, I also wear Annick Gutal Mandragore (the first version) and Weil's Zibeline (also a well-cared for older version). I wear sur le Nil during the day, and use Mandragore or Zibeline in the evening, depending on circumstances.

Search continues. None of the reviews are dated. I'm writing in 2016. Hope to find something before I run out of my standbys.

Baseeta

It starts with bright citrus: tart grapefruit and what smells like green-tinged lemon. The heart is blended flowers. I believe the only notes mentioned to the press so far are gardenia and sweet pea, but it doesn't really matter — it smells like a leafy mixed spring bouquet, light and fresh and buoyant and young. The word luminous is used in the official description, and that's perfectly apt, as is the watercolor in sunrise hues of gold and rose.

Rux2589

To me, this is the grapefruit smell so characteristic to the Hermes brand, but in a milder and very pleasant combination. I've had Jour d'Hermes on my wishlist for some time. The only thing that prevents me from buying it is that I already own the Gardenia version, which I would like to finish first. Nevertheless, whenever I'm in the mood for citruses, this baby comes to mind. I've just finished my 2ml sample. My oh my, what will I do now?

Deirdre1969

I tried this on in an airport duty-free shop and wore it on the last leg of my trip home. On me it was refreshing and stayed that way -- unusual for me, and wonderful for summer and for lifting the mood. It's very grapefruity on me, with bergamot and a hint of fresh florals. I really want to get a bottle of it someday, but first I'm going to try Body Shop Pink Grapefruit and maybe RL Big Pony 1 (recommended by a fellow Fragrantican) -- for budget considerations.

bren400

I didn't like it-AT ALL! After testing this, I had been trying to pin-point ALL DAY what this reminded me of. I FIIIIIIIIIINALLY GOT IT-TTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! WELLA BALSAM CONDITIONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though the scent of conditioner was fine when I was a little girl, it is not a good one to me now.

Archaic

I'm a man living in a hot humid tropical country. On my skin, it smells quite good. A man could wear this, however it does tends towards the feminine side though. A bit linear white flower scent. Smells white flowers and green sap (or stem of the flower). Longevity is average. Around 4 hours on my skin. Sillage is close to the skin. Almost like a skin scent. The bottle is quite HEAVY. You could use this as a gym tool. No kidding. I'm gonna put this in my x'mas wish list. The scent is quite similar to Cartier's Baiser Vole.

nero77

Delicate and refreshing...

Again, I am impressed by the work of Jean-Claude Ellena. This is an example of something beautiful and something which I think is a classic in the making.

First of all, I think because this task was given to someone like Ellena, the perfume really became something special in terms of female fragrances. It's very common to have a light, fruity floral mix which smells generic. But here, the focus has been on the balance between the delicate white florals, and a beautiful citrus undertone (mainly from grapefruit). You have notes like Gardenia and sweet pea and and a delicate lightness with just a touch of creaminess beneath, but never overpowering.

One thing I like about this fragrance is that at no point does this descend into powdery floral territory. In fact it keeps this delicate floral citrus balance throughout (which in my opinion is very hard to do). Again it shows the work of a master perfumer in my view.

With regards to performance and longevity, this Eau de Parfum projects on my skin for the first 4-5 hours, with a further presence of about 2 hours after that. I feel that it does perform like an Eau de Toilette and I do with it would last longer. I can see this working very well in spring and summer, and great for wedding parties etc.

Really recommend this one as it stands out from the crowd of generic summer florals, and shows itself as something more delicate and beautiful. Really wonderful!

misslawbore

I agree with mypersonalharr, how observant of her, there is definitely a geranium-pelargonium note here which surprisingly is not mentioned at all in the perfume pyramid or notes. Surprising because it's a dominant note. This scent is mainly green, so don't buy if you don't like green. It has very little floral in it. But there is grapefruit/lemon fruit competing with the plant greens. Finally, as others have said, it is an interesting sophisiticated classy scent, not for everyone, but the wearer will be noticed

MiituLoves

When i first sprayed it on myself I DID NOT like it. It had too much of a green herbal scent, like freshly pulled weeds you pull outside in your garden and the weed breaks in half! The dry down was such a surprising nice subtle floral scent. The sillage is very moderate. The scent seems to last about 2 or 3 hours. I had my husband and daughter smell it, my husband liked it my daughter did not.

Akashia

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!!

What a successful blind buy!!!

As soon as receiving my package, I opened and tried a mini that came with the trio set.

Wow.... wow....

Everything I wanted in a perfume... it had it.

Not a single note I could find disliking.

Compared to Gardenia, which I found a note that bothered me, this one... sigh.... just perfect.

It is lighter than Jour D'hermes Gardenia.

Overall impression, Honey and Grapefruit....

Not too citric, sweet, floral, succulent... simply lovely.

Today, the weather is rather warm/hot 28 degrees Celsius... yet, the perfume is not suffocating or overpowering.

Now I am extremely curious about Jour D'hermes Absolu, which is supposedly more floral than fruity.

I never considered having my signature scent, too many great perfumes out in the world that I want to try. Having said that.... I am contemplating very hard that Jour d'hermes may be 'IT' perfume.

Elizete Araujo Moura

Orange blossoms dripping with pollen- heaven for bees, nectar of the gods! good smell!!

Marie_Anne

For the profile I love Datura Noir by Serge Lutens, Idylle by Guerlain and Pear and Freesia by Jo Malone but by far my favourite perfume is this one - Jour by Hermes. It just makes me feel as if I had a glass of sparkling wine for breakfast. It is reasonably fresh, not overcomplicate but not simple either, can be worn day and night. In my early fourties it makes me feel light and energetic without urge to appear younger. I think white flowers and citrus are married very well together in this one.

cocoethermes

This scent is not overwhelming. It is more of a you-skin-but-better fragrance. It is light, airy, yet overwhelmingly luxurious. It is uplifting and oozing sophistication. Although it doesn't have a knock out sillage, it does last FOREVER on my skin. I can smell it faintly for almost 10 hours, which is surprising for such a light scent. It does not perform as well on clothes. This is a very natural scent that doesn't induce allergies. I would recommend this to anyone working in the medical field! This perfume adds an aura to the wearer that can't be achieved with any other fragrance.

mypersonalharmonics

I am wearing it right now and felt the need to talk about it. Yes, this is a grapefruit perfume, citrusy and vivid, but the second most important player is NOT white flowers/gardenia to my nose.

It is a loud unlisted geranium-pelargonium note.

That leafy smell of a spring garden, bitter leaves of plants that discourage insects rather than attract them if you know what I mean. Overall natural and slightly medicinal in a good way.

The grapefruit is tonifying and the geranium is calming, a very interesting combination. Can't wait for warmer weather to try it on.

cocoethermes

At first whiff, this perfume smells like sugar-coated lemon peels, but as it settles on my skin, it turns into the most sophisticated bouquet of white flowers blended fantastically with citrus, water, and wood notes. It smells so optimistic and uplifting! There's nothing like this on the market. It smells so effort-less and luxurious-- the ultimate Hermes fragrance. Highly recommended!!!

Cybernoir

Happy and uplifting, sweet and soft, the grapefruit is fresh and juicy, but on me not at all sour. The florals are very pure, non indolic, not shrill or high pitched.

Bright and sunny florals and fresh citruses create an effervescent halo, lying on a creamy woody base mixed with a light clean musk. Not powdery on me, it comes and goes in sweet wafts. The white florals float along, changing from orange blossom to jasmine to gardenia.

Today was a beautiful day, with clear bright blue skies, a bright winter sun, soft little white clouds flying along. Little boats bobbing in a bay all sparkly and blue. That is what this perfume evokes, a bright sparkly happy day, with no cares or worries.

The gardenia is lovely, fleeting, a real tease, but stronger than you may realize. Lasts about 4-5 hours, and worth reapplying. An almost perfect work scent for professionals. Quietly charismatic. A great office friendly sophisticated scent for professional meetings.

mrsg34

An unobtrusive, zesty, airy perfume quite lovely. Milky and musky, smooth and creamy, all the single notes are hard to pick out. Don't expect a knock out silage, it's very light but I really like this scent, ideal for work.

thesheppardess

light and citrus-y. Pleasant but nothing remarkable on my skin

Neckromancer

This is not what I expected. I was not impressed at all. It sort of smells like many other yellow fragrances I've smelled...bitter. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the notes listed on Fragrantica. This is not a sweet pink grapefruit perfume. This is not like most companies which list grapefruit as a note, but really mean lemon. This is seriously bitter. I don't even really distinctly smell any flowers. Just bitterness.

syarul

Have you ever smell Terre de Hermes?

To my nose, this one smell exactly like Terre de Hermes.

Well, I'm not surprised because both of them are created by the same perfumer, Mr Ellena.

If you like citrusy-like aroma to uplift your spirit at work in the morning, this is for you.

sky blue

Nice, fresh and elegant, but somehow non-defined, 'neutral' fragrance, a safe scent. Anyway it leaves a typical Hermes classy trail with its pretty combination of citruses and white flowers, herbal and soapy notes. This is a clean, soft & elegant fragrance for a chic lady who doesn't like heavy scents. It could be a good choice for summer.

Eaugirlspirit

After witnessing the gourmand trend in perfumery the past few years, I am caught off guard by such a gorgeous floral that should be flying off the shleves way more than La Vie Est Belle...
Leave it to Hermes, a French perfume house that has transcended generations with its gorgeous creations and quality ingredients.
This perfume will be one of my go-to's forever. It is a breath of fresh air and incredibly uplifting with its citric freshness balanced with the lushness of white florals. I smell honey nectar as well. It is so beautiful and the advertisements are a perfect reflection of the scent itself. I see the color yellow illuminating when I spray this. Like member Eaudemoi has already stated on the page for JDH Absolu,
"It is a tribute to the young rays of morning sunlight..this is the creamy gold light of a million petals"....
I couldn't have put it better. I should have worn this on my wedding day...

cherubino

I adore the intricate and extremely elegants Hermes scarfs, and always surprise me the new creations of this accessory. I see all Hermes products as one top on the sophisticated style, this is a reason for me to be attract by this perfume. I think is a perfume discrete but with a lot of personality, the one when I will use make feel me special.
The design of flacon is adorable, minimal and pure; since it is divided in half, the bottom just on glass and the upper trapeze shape contain the essence and the words Jour d’Hermes with this font is evocative.

Galya

I would to love to win this nice crisp and so clear perfume.i just adore this brand!

maheq_alam

In typical Irish cold dark winter "Jour d'Hermes" can do a magic by bringing the brightness and the freshness.

Edee

Why does everyone keep talking about winning something. Where are you guys getting your information from?

LinkinZuzka

I would love to win this one! Seems great!
Thank you :)

janella13

Mmmmm, looks like the perfect scent to ward off the gloomy, damp days of winter here in the Midwest, Chicago, to be specific.

I honestly didn't like any of my citrus scents in colder weather, they just shut down. Having read the review here on Fragrantica...this scent could change my mind.

I would be honored to be chosen. Need a life! We haven't seen sun in almost 2 weeks.

With both my kids getting married 5 months apart, and wedding #2 is in January, I am in the No Spend mode.

In fact, this might be the best perfume for Mother of the Bride!

Thanks for your offer.
Janell

Hummingbirder

This seems like a fragrance that would be easy to love: A refreshing white floral with lots of citrus. I love gardenia and citrus, and water would make it a little wild, and like a day at the beach.

asieczka83

I would love to win this!

Mayaroo

I would love to receive this for Christmas! That being said I would live to receive this anytime!

LADYELLE

This scent reminds me of honeysuckles mixed in with wild scented flowers and scented herbs.

LADYELLE

I purchase this is Aruba in 2014 as a body/deodorant spray which was cheaper and got more for my money. I love the scent and flexibility of spraying this product all over my body.

annamdia

Uhmmm... I feel special when I wear Hermes and this scent is no different. The combination of floral, aquatic and musk, evokes a breeze and a parisian spring. My senses are transported and I find myself walking alone along the Seine. How special is that?

dzingunyte

when i wear it i feel like a mature woman.it's not one of those cheap scents. it's really feminine, classic juice. very warm, not loud, but yet it's not like it fade away in few minutes. i can smell it all day long.

cafe au lait

Didn't last long on me. A nice scent, not offensive at all but not very impressive for me.

anniepie

Let's just call this a 'safe' scent. It's pleasant and inoffensive. Starts of as a very crisp and sharp citrus and dries down to pleasant powdery white floral. Sophisticated but still suitable for young girl, a young rich girl surrounded by silver and gold. However, I'm currently 19 yrs old but my friend said it's too matured for me. Despite that, I still love love love love love it and it will still be one of my all time favorite perfumes that I will continue to wear.

ketchup38

I did not realise when this became my everyday signature scent. Until I found myself buying a 2nd 125ml refill bottle!

It worked it's way into my life with such smoothness. Jour D' hermes wasn't aggressive or confrontational. It isn't loud nor does it fight to make an impression. It's velvety, creamy and soft like the cool feel of chiffon on a hot summer day.
Great for work and everyday use. The sillage is moderate. Longevity a little longer than average. I love it's impression on my clothes by the next day. My husband loves it and notices when I'm not wearing it.
I'm happy they have finally made what could potentially be a classic in these times where decent modern combinations are increasingly hard to find. I want my kids to remember me with this one as warm, comforting and always there.

canadianpetite

The woody notes soften all flowers but a hint of citrus is there to add interest. Soft enough to wear for conservative work environment (mine). Elegant and not a usual choice by people I know. Hubby likes it so I will be looking for a bottle.

One spray on me:
Sillage: arm's length within first 30 minutes then soft whisper that does not offend
Longevity: 3 to 4 hours
Rating: 4/5

Fmcandy

I like the fact that it is not a popular scent. It's interesting to like the different. I'm ending the refill and I ll buy it again. It's my everyday confortable & uncommon perfume. When my boyfriend smells my neck he allways says, I love this citrus on your skin. Sometimes I use Tom ford, Chanel, CDG, no compliment on these, just on Jour. It s a fav.

Sorry for all the lovers of this perfume, but for me this is just bluachh. I smell only grepfuit peel, with a hit of vinegar in it and little sea salt on drydown. Literally I was nauseated and had to scrub it off. Thank god it went away easily.

I do not catch the appeal of this fragrance. To me it smells of grapefruit, maybe in a way softer and rounder than many of the other hundreds or thousands of fragrances of this type. Also, it is the same type of fragrance as many other recent Hermes fragrances. It does have silage, but nothing special. To me, the scent is neither creative nor particularly pleasant, but I do not enjoy the scent of grapefruit, and that is me, not a negative feature of the fragrance. I find it very boring, though, too common, simple and soft.

Now this is a strange one, isn't it? There is a sour note in there from the citrus that doesn't really ease up and yet I can't seem to get enough of it! Jour D'Hermes is captivating and truly different. If I would need to reference a movie to this parfum, it would be American Hustle! When Jennifer Lawrence says "It's like that perfume you like, you keep coming back to it even though there's something sour in it, you just can't get enough of it!" "Some of the best perfumes in the world are laced with something nasty, like flowers but with garbage"..lol..I really love this one!

juzme

Thanks God this one doesn't work with my chemistry at all => saving the money :-D . On my skin this is a bad smelling fume.

This contemporary chypre composition might be inspired by Edmond Roudnitska's Le Parfum de Therese (Frédéric Malle).
Imagine e.g. LPDT's melon – a rather aquatic, ozonic and, not only for that reason, an unusual note in its day, the 1950s – replaced by a salty, mineral texture and mango – a successful note on the Brazilian and Asian fragrance marketplace and, maybe also for that reason, one of Jean-Claude Ellena's lately favored characters.
