Noticed this on a woman in Palm Beach and had to ask what she was wearing. It matched her vibe perfectly. She was a classy woman, maybe in her 40s, wearing a beautiful white dress with matching white nails. She was flawlessly groomed and looked like she never goes a day without a spa treatment. One day I'd love to be like her, but for now I just have the same perfume haha.

Understated elegance in a bottle. It's grapefruit peel and white florals. Feminine class. It's fresh and clean but not sharp. Smells less like you're wearing perfume and more like you just use luxury body products.

The Scentimentalist

The opening is rather jarring. Definitely didn't have me at hello. I did detect a faint rotten food/vomit note in the beginning. It got a bit better as it dried down but overall not something I can enjoy.

Lorinica

Staple in my collection. I get grapefruit, flowers, a bit of woodsy notes and definitely the oak moss which bothered me at first.

It's denser than Jour OG, less citrusy, more woody, deep and that oak moss gives it this mossy, dusty touch like it was a bit stale.

I bought it on sale and because of this oak moss note I thought I got expired or somewhat stale perfume because I remembered 8 yrs ago I had Jour OG and I was inlove with it. And then it hit me that I bought Jour Absolu and not original Jour which I had many years ago. And since I missed my Jour OG I decided to buy it as well and now having them both I prefer Absolu over OG. It's waaay better, fuller, denser, richer and it's exactly this oak moss note that makes is somewhat special. OG is light, citrusy and I still love it but this one is real luxury, it smells high end, classy but not dated, it's different, smells like money, exudes abundance & wealth but it's not overwhelming or into your face.

It's like a wealthy, self aware, put together woman ( of any age) who spends the money easily without needing to prove anything to anyone, no need to be seen... she just loves being rich, she doesn't gossip, doesn't interfere in other people's affairs instead she lives her own life & quietly enjoys her abundance & appreciates luxurious lifestyle she's able to afford

Longevity: 4-5 hours
Projection: arm's lenghth
Time of the year ( I live in mediterannean climate): the best it behaves at the end of summer & early fall, spring as well, summer in the evenings, winter no go
Sillage: medium

I can't decide if I prefer this or the original (I've since decided I prefer this one). They're very similar, and I'd be happy to own either, but I think I prefer the more muted citrus in the Absolue.

To me it smells like peachy tea with a white floral backdrop. An elegant variation of Bvlgari's Thé Vert.

Fairly short-lived, with almost no drydown - just a faded picture of the opening. A lovely everyday scent.

This is one of the very few perfumes I really don't enjoy. The first time I tested it, I couldn't quite describe the smell. It is very nostalgic though, almost like being in a market not a fancy market, but the kind that sells fish and vegetables (It's very earthy). Then I tried it a second time, and this time I know why it felt so nostalgic. This perfume smells like the hair conditioner that they use in the old salon I grew up going to with my mom, but more potent.

I’m surprised nobody mentions that it’s in the similar direction with “Love, don’t be shy” by Kilian. After they both settle down for around 15 mins. I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe, but they are for sure cousins.

joikgirl

This is so weird. I have immersed myself into Hermes right now and been testing for few days now. I wouldn't have even grabbed this if there wasn't a lady who immediately went straight for the bottle and sprayed herself full with this. I had to try it then too.
And mmmm, such a weird but good fragrance. I don't like citrus fragrances at all, you can smell the grapefruit, but its not the number one, dominant scent. The white floral is the saviour. Such a mature scent, definitely not for younger girls and doesn't suit everyone. I, myself am in my 20s, I like it but I don't think this is me. Also tried the OG, I much preferred this.

Scarlett610

have a small sample vial and have worn a few times. to me and on my skin there is an immense peppery/spicy aspect that is a bit too much. if it was a little less pronounced to me it would be absolutely lovely, and perfect spring/summer, and early fall in warmer climates. the longevity on me is very good though it is that peppery aspect that I am still smelling. imo this is unisex.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

I'm just getting a lot of the grapefruit here mixed with jasmine, with hints of the oakmoss in the base. I'm not getting any of the other notes.

This is an incredibly sour, bitter and citrusy white floral perfume that kind of reminds me of something you'd use to clean the toilet. Somewhat pleasant smell to clean the toilet, but still a fresh toilet cleaner smell nonetheless.

It's a daytime fragrance for sure and something you'd wear in the spring or the summer. It's also fairly unisex to my nose, since it's equally as citrusy as it is white floral.

Both the sillage and the longevity were average on me and I got about 4 ½ hours of wear on my skin before the scent completely dissipated.

It certainly wasn't a love for me and so I'd give this a 5/10.

A very intriguing and confusing fragrance, in my experience. My impressions differ greatly depending on the season and weather conditions.

Peak of summer (our first encounter): beautiful citrussy elderflower. Rich, deep, with a refined sourness that made it refreshing, but not typically fresh.

Late autumn: still beautiful, but more dense and somehow austere. More floral and bitter. Less charming, perhaps.

Winter: dusty, almost stale floral, borderline unpleasant and suffocating. Very confusing, considering the previous experience.

Spring: tender grapefruit with soft flowers. Seemingly discreet and close to the skin, it got me several compliments today. One of them was from my colleague who could smell it immediately when she entered the office. She said it was lemony, flowery and extremely natural-smelling.

There is a nice, seamless progression from the citrus/fruity top to the woody base, with no drastic changes. The amount of sweetness is more or less constant, more honey-like than sugary, and very well-calibrated. Very pleasant overall, while not being a typical mainstream floral.

Conclusion: A not-too-sweet floral with a strong citrus accord. Very interesting and in my experience very chameleonic. Now I'm really curious about the original Jour, which I tried on one occasion, but without paying too much attention. Seems to be a line worth exploring.

Beautiful, elegant bottles and packaging.

Xhela

A very elegant perfume, long lasting, cheerful, brightening. True description of fine perfumery. Werable in a slow pace day, and at the same time at your peak activity, summer freshness, winter warmth. Minimalism philosophy that unfolds in a yin yang balance of citruses and florals. Lifts the mood. I feels standing out of the crowd especially that most people smell like Baccarat Rouge or Tuscan Leather nowdays. Suitable for anyone that feels that has some achirvements in life or as big dreams. At least it gives me that feeling. Esp3cially if you have read any book of Jean Claude Ellena you feel even more resonating with it.
I see in the comments about its bittern and being sour. You can feel them both but very sofly in harmony, nothing boring or overbearing. If you are looking for an elegant fine fragrance that gives the sense of balance between strengh and vulnerability for me this is a go.

melimelo87

Peach Bellinis with soft petals on top!!! Hands down a delicious and fizzy peach, mixed some airy florals and a hint of grapefruit.
I can smell the peach straight from the top notes all the way to the drydown. I was not expecting this..clearly a must try before buying, as I can see from the reviews people percieve this very differently.
Very feminine, great longevity and defintely not your typical designer floral frag.

zedralz

If Flowers in the Attic had a perfume. Ugh. Old dirt, dying flowers, sour, dusty attic wood.

Jmalone84

It goes to show how wildly different scent perception is because I can’t relate to a lot of the reviews below stating this is sour or cloying. I see the similarity to Chanel Gabrielle but Gabrielle has a very cloying quality to it that lives up your nose and in your mouth all day so that you’re always tasting it, this scent doesn’t have that.

The grapefruit is subdued and I get apricot/peach with airy floral vibes. It’s not overly fresh, but to me quite warm and sensuous. The sillage is not overly strong, it stays close to the skin but radiates nicely, and the longevity is actually very good in my opinion. 3 hours in and I am very much enjoying the soft feminine wafts of scent I applied this morning at the pulse points of my neck every time I move.

I really adore this fragrance. It’s lady like but soft and inviting. I am wearing this in the spring but also smells lovely in summer and would likely be quite versatile for different occasions. I would say more of a daytime scent. While I am stepping away from designer fragrances I would like a small bottle of this.

Strong and sour

suzuu

It was a blindbuy this summer. I had high expectations and was dissapointed :(. It smelled like a simple grapefruit fragrance, sour and bitter, not very complex and quite linear. BUT…. than the fall came with a cold weather and falling leaves and this GEM started to smell very differently. Like sunshine in a bottle, cheerfull, fun, energetic, optimistic, like a light in a darkness. This new favourite of mine will hopefully get me through the winter. It’s quite longlasting too!

COLOREDGIRLSHUFFLE

This is a really pretty scent. A subdued grapefruit floral. The notes are something you would expect from a Bath and Body scent, but in this formula, it's more refined. The dry-down is gorgeous, the woody oakmoss is very blends beautifully under the heavy floral. It's a skin scent, and it doesn't have any longevity; which is a shame because this could be a really pretty floral when you are feeling feminine and alluring.

This is the second Hermes fragrance I have not been impressed by...for the price point I expect fireworks. **shrugs**

Tincel

This fragrance is an upsetting one due to the difference between the opening and the drydown. The opening is a sweet floral bouquet of everything - unoriginal, not the most pleasant, and ultimately not as sophisticated as one would expect from Hermes. However, the drydown with the oakmoss matures the bouquet superbly into the ultimate floral chypre fragrance. What a shame.

violeteme

Yes, this is truly similar to the original, but takes a bit of sweeter (in a fruity way) turn. I like the original more as it has that lemony zest which this one lacks. Absolu can become cloying during summer months. Original smells more sophisticated and this one more mainstream.

spotspot

I love this fragrance for summer and early Autumn. I started with a sample bottle of the JdH, and ended up buying a full bottle of the Absolut, based on the reviews. The Absolut is richer and creamier than the JdH, but it still has that stunning citrus note and the beautiful dry down. I don't get a chemical smell at all at the 3-4 hour mark, which is an issue with a lot of perfumes for me.
The grapefruit note with the sweet white florals is just gorgeous and beautifully balanced. It smells feminine and expensive and indulgent, but in a carefree, Bellinis-on-the-beach-in-France sort of way.
So far I have tried about 10 Hermes perfumes, and this is the only one that worked on me.

Autumn_Moon

This is very similar to the original (Jour d'Hermes), but it leans a bit heavier on the florals.

For the most part, I get grapefruit and a bouquet of white florals (a hint of gardenia and some jasmine... clean and fresh) from the Absolu version, as well as a mossy, forest-like (oakmoss) element. It's a bit "deeper," to my nose, but it still presents as a JCE "watercolor." For me, the difference is this: Jour d'Hermes asks me to spread a blanket on the grass and lie down while staring directly at the pale blue sky overhead... Jour d'Hermes Absolu focuses my gaze upon the horizon line, with its slightly more concentrated (but still pastel and cloudless) blue firmament. Both perfumes ask me to appreciate a lovely day -- they simply ask me to do so in subtly different ways.

Both fragrances are lovely; they present similar ingredients in slightly different contexts. I confess, I slightly prefer the Absolu to the original (though I own -- and adore -- both). Longevity is far above usual for a fragrance with citrus aspects (4-6 hours). It never suffocates or intrudes. If one doesn't quite suit you, I recommend trying the other.

Aeiris81

I fell in love with this, the grapefruit note accompanied by the apricot blossom is pure genius as it infuses this fragrance with this luminous freshness I have never encountered before. It is both bitter and sweet, fresh but not crisp, effervescent and warm. A joy to wear during summer.

Tsema

My signature scent. I have both Jour d'Hermes and Absolu. There is a slight unexplainable difference, but I love them both equally. I will also replenish both.

That sour note is to die for. It stays close to your body, so intimate, you just wanna catch a whiff of it now and again. Great for daytime. I use it for bedtime as well.

I would not blindly buy this fragrance, that sour note is not for everyone.

Houdini4

Okay so this is very much like Jour, but also noticeably different. I might not be fulflling my role as reviewer here because despite revisiting them at the same time this week and doing a direct comparison, I probably couldn't tell you what the differences are.
I'd say 'weight' this is a little heavier as you'd expect perhaps from a EDT to EDP, being that it's a bit thicker, and given this is a light, powdery citrus, floral, perhaps that's not what you want? Well it is.
Because the powdery drydown is what I crave in this, and the Absolu version gives us that in abundance, and usually I'm a fan of the more diffuse edt's n such (Like TdH for example) so yeah this was a turn up for the books.
I want this fragrance, it's lovely.

Ewsd

it smells nothing like i've owned before: maybe the nostalgic, unwavering floral tones of it, or maybe the pungent, fresh spicy notes of it... when i smelled it at the store for the first time, the image i've had in my mind was: being at a beach during the sunset, wearing my breezy dress and i feel the warmness of that moment on my face with a smile. that thought just made me buy it. i have it today and my goodness, the longevity of this fragrance is heavenly so far! yay! p.s. it also reminds me a bit of channel perfumes (that i'm not a big fan of it) but in the best way. to me, hermes absolu is a younger, sophisticated version of those original channel scents.

perfumelovere

If it weren't for the gardenia note I'd blind buy this perfume. I worry it'll dominate the whole scent profile similarly to what I find with tuberose perfumes. It's that sickly sweet lactonic floral thing that overpowers everything else... bummer.

A creamier and more complex Jour. I used to wear the original Jour, and finished the bottle, but it did feel a little too lemony strong to me (a little like Lemon Pledge cleaning spray). Absolu feels more well-rounded. I instantly felt perky and happy smelling it after application (bright citrus), and later I kept putting my nose to my elbow to smell the dry down (gentle, balanced floral). I will be investing in a FB!

Enrium

Jour d'Hermès Absolu has similarities to the original JH, but is more complex and potent - if "potent" were a word suited to describing Jean-Claude Ellena's trademark light touch. What it loses in ethereality, it gains in intensity - not always a good thing, but here it results in JHA being as baroque as it is Impressionist. JHA is like a deceptively simple watercolour painting, it is hard to pick out details - single notes - and needs to be considered as a whole. JHA is not as instantly appealing as the original either - it needs time and contemplation in order to be truly appreciated.

In a nutshell, JHA is less fresh and more sweet, earthy and fruity than the original, but also has a richer floral heart. It is a warm scent; less fizzy, radiant "bottled sunshine" of the original, instead it is earthy, like sun-warmed brick. The bright citrus notes of the opening are slightly sharper and more intense, with less of the aquatic quality of the original. Luminous grapefruit takes the place of the lemon note in the original, accompanied by an airy apricot note, adding juicy sweetness. It has a tea-like accord, as does the original, but here it is more like osmanthus tea, perhaps thanks to the apricot. The opening lingers, becoming warm and balsamic, before the florals emerge.

A white floral bouquet develops after the opening subsides, with orangy neroli leading the way. There is some clean, sweet jasmine, heady hyacinth and perhaps lily, with some polleny sweetness and green accords. The balsamic accord from the opening remains present in the background, adding some earthy warmth, grounding the florals beautifully. It runs out of steam as it dries down, with a promising yet fleeting mossy-musky accord giving way to flat woody notes on the skin, along with traces of slightly cloying apricot. Sillage is moderate, but longevity is day-long.

A unique feminine perfume, JHA is sophisticated and elegant - less easy-breezy than the original, but all the more compelling for that. Original, high-quality and deeply interesting. 4/5.

brokesta911

Hermes Jour d’hermes Absolu (2014) - radiant bouquet - #jeanclaudeellena could have made one of his most complex perfumes during his stint in Hermes. Try to imagine digging your nose in a bouquet of assorted white florals - that’s exactly what it smells like. Sure, there are some nuances such as a watery-accord, musk and wood as a base, but a glorious white floral accord throughout.

Thaolee

Love it!!! One of my favourite. Smell Luxury classy elegant lady. Definitely not for casual wear, former wear for sure.

jg341

I got this as part of a sample set and loved it so much, I got the full size. Smells like white floral with a fruity-citrus grapefruit opening. Definitely leans feminine, and it’s the kind of scent perfect for a sunny cool day in spring. Projection and sillage are rather decent.

ingeneuxo

-Weird floral fragrance that leans heavily smelling like tea. (Could it be the oakmoss?)
-It's feminine for sure.
-But also smells like you spilled a whole pot of chrysanthemum or osmanthus tea on yourself...
-A scent for the unconventional woman. (-)

Aromantra

I got a decant of this (thankfully not a full bottle) and must say that it smells like grapefruit-scented paint thinner. The other notes listed are undetectable. I can't quite understand the structure of this fragrance as it behaves like a bitter chemical lab solvent. You can literally taste the bitterness in your mouth when you spray this. Sadly, it is not traditionally citrusy at all, just sharp and biting. Sorry for the harsh review, but quite frankly, this is a harsh & unfriendly fragrance.

PerfumeForLainy

Trying perfumes at the store is normaly a disaster for me, I get an olfactory overload and can not make a desision at all. It is a miracle that I remembered Jour d'Hermes absolu at all and even more so that I could not get it out of my head. Obsessing over it for months I ended up with Jour d'Hermes, Jour d'Hermes absolu and a refil bottle for the latter, largest bottles available and they are gourgeus and heavy.

Summer test
Due to my skin type, the top notes last forever with the heart and the base gently shining through, that is why both perfumes are never about flowers for me. It is about big, warmed by the sun, overriped, aromatic and mouthwateringly juicy lemons. A very photorealistic experience and by far the best one on the matter.
I would not say that the Absolu version is different from the original, but it is a bit fuller and sligtly sweeter, as if some sweet clementines were added to the mix. Love them both. Both are splendid for leisure in the warm, humid summer.

Bburuma

I have both the original Jour D’Hermes and fell in love with the freshness. The original isn’t too sweet. Sort of a dry grapefruit smell rather than juicy which I LOVE. I had a whiff of this and wow. Similar DNA but sweeter. To my nose I smell honey for some reason. The perfect scent to wear on a warm day with a cool breeze.

catswearingperfume

I really love this one. I'm a big fan of the original Jour d'Hermes, and I also love a well-executed mossy accord, and this Absolu is the best of both worlds. It opens with an airy citrus that, like the original, is bright but rounded. Then come the white florals, soft and breezy, but grounded by a touch of earthiness from the moss. I see that this is categorized as a floral fragrance, but I think a floral chypre is a more accurate description.

Comparing it to the original: this one is, of course, a little earthier, but it's not hitting you over the head with the moss. It's very well balanced. Like its sister, Jour d'Hermes Absolu is not a big projector, though this Absolu does project a little more. Longevity is also a bit longer than the original; those earthy notes seem to stretch this experience out, which I am grateful for.

I adore both the original and this Absolu. I own both, but if I could only choose one, I would choose the Absolu. I'm glad I don't have to choose though. They are both beautiful in their own way.

tonkatsu335

It is a bittersweet floral with grapefruit and oakmoss.
It is a sour scent that gets stuck in my throat. I don't really like it.

Liliana Ângelo

So, after all the opinions I have read here I decided to jump on Jour D'Hèrmes Absolu.
I almost bling bought it but I called my local perfume store and decided to have a sniff before I committed. On paper strip I felt some crispness but I could tolerate it (almost like coco mademoiselle Chanel) and the dry down was lovely. I have purchased 30ml because I'm starting my collection and I don't want to break the bank (some of them blind buys).

I was excited (as always when I get a new perfume) to try it out so I have sprayed the inside box (because I keep the boxes and that way the scent is there) and didn't feel the same perfume.

On my skin it was a disaster... It almost smelled like moldy (oak moss?) flowers on a flower shop (I've been a florist myself for 6 years so I know that scent very well). Very sharp, very crisp, very citric, made me want to vomit (I'm so sorry Mr Ellena) I want to love this but... It makes me feel dizzy from all the sourness and tartness!

I have read in here that in the autumn /winter time (cold weather) this fragrance is a lot better but I don't know if I thats accurate... Please send me a message if you tested that. Thank you in advance!

CdeBXL

Soooo elegant!
Soooo Mr. Ellena!

Pamplelune + Gardenia + Oakmoss. Developing in deeper honey nectar and jasmin, but still crisp and zesty.

An absolute love!

grapefruit352

I have got a little tester..I must say I am shocked (!) how good and pleasant this fragrance is! I have never been so much fond of the Hermes fragrances..but..this one is TRULY MAGIC! I feel some apricot and many flowery notes. Oak moss is so natural here! And truly in this fragrance there is an extract of oak moss- its written in the ingredients. All the notes are combined so perfectly and smooth. Performance is great too! It is already the 5th hour on my wrist and it smells like I have just applied it. Sillage within 1 meter all those hours. I love here everything.. If only the price..if only the price..

pjspaceshit

Gorgeous and lush citus-floral-honey combination. Excellent longevity and sillage. I'm deeply in love with this scent. And yes, you need it even if you own the original Jour d'Hermes, they are both absolutely stunning and different enough.

Siv7Stars

Tried it out of curiousity. Big, creamy white florals, like a floral perfume over an expensive face cream.I didn't get grapefruit but I did get massive gardenia. It lasted maybe five hours on me. It's sophisticated, elegant, timeless, it would probly be a good blind buy for a gardenia fan. It's not for me though.

Scandipersian

Domina1, don’t regret your 30 ml purchase! These are refillable and the refil in 125 ml will come way cheaper 😉

I love this too! Was always on the hunt for a more perfumy grapefruit than my Guerlain aqua allegoria pampelone, and this is IT! Plus my much beloved gardenias.

BUT BUT, very fleeting on me! I get no longevity on this one at all! (Bought it just recently from a well reputed French firm, so no doubts in quality)

Domina1

I don’t know where to begin. My collections of fragrances is not big at all but I feel like my other bottles will feel lonely for quite a while.

This is so beautiful. Elegant, sexy, feminine, modern, any age appropriate. 20 years old can wear it as well as 45 year old woman.

I can’t really detect notes like others: I do smell a lot of gardenia/white flower at the very beginning. If grapefruit was there I was not able to detect it. The opening may feel too sweet, give it 10-15 min, the fragrance will balance itself. I feel something that can be oakmoss and woods that round flowers and don’t make them go too sweet. I also smell apricot blossom I think. At least how I remember it )) and I later started to feel some grapefruit as well.

If you need to get a perfume but can get only one , get Jour Absolu because it covers it all. It is just modern femininity.

Why did I get 30 ml only?! I need bigger bottle in case those smarty pants will decide to discontinue it.

LaContessina

Absolutely stunning.
I already worship the first version of Jour d'Hermes, a little gem in mainstream perfumery.
This second version, Absolu, is not your average flanker as it is a different fragrance, way more intense, rounded and sexy.
And I love it!
I came across a sales assistant in Sephora at the time the fragrance was released and thought "well she's wearing something remarkable"; then I wandred around and this scent lingered.
So I had to ask her what was that gorgeousness she was wearing.
And it was Jour d'Hermes Absolu. I was surprised, because it was totally different than its predecessor!
And on me it is also a magnificent fragrance.
Forget the opening that is misleading (at first sniff you get the JC Ellena trademark, the citrus-graprefruit accord that you can also find in the various Jardins editions), but this stage last a few seconds.
Then it transforms: Deep, warm, sensual with a floral heart flirting with oriental themes.
Some minor red fruit (raspberries? perhaps...) some red berries are in there but not the syrupy ones...something fresher and more realistic.
Then again, this is not the real spirit of this frag.

The very heart is Flowers! I recognize osmanthus, gardenia and tiaré, some jasmin, white flowers.
A garden, enchanted. Immerged in light.
The base is steady with a chypre-like, musky drydown and woods.
It lacks perhaps the fresh greenery and the transparence of the previous Jour d'Hermes, but Absolu wins it all with its roundness and sensuality.

I am constantly impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the longevity - after 5 hours the frag is still there, and going strong. Let alone the compliments I get when I wear it!

A superb feminine fragrance, luminous and not overly sweet. TO me this is not a summer fragrance, it is so warm I see it more as a winter frag.

The bottom line is that this is a drop dead sexy fragrance and a must have in my collection.

"Zesty Grapefruit Floral"

this is among the most cheerful, radiant and uplifting tart citrusy/grapefruit white florals i have ever smelled. absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. almost too perfect, except for how FLEETING it is on me (yes, even the Absolu). i can't think of another fragrance that uses a realistic, juicy tart/tangy grapefruit note that actually remains throughout the full wearing. generally grapefruit is a topnote which promptly disappears. i really need to put this out on my tray for rotation this summer, it’s a crime to not wear this. this is the downside of being a fragnerd, i have so many and am always trying new scents that i neglect the gorgeous fragrances i already have. i will remember to wear this beauty often this spring and summer. jour d’hermes absolu is divine.

UPDATE: just wanted to clarify that this isn’t actually fleeting on me; the issue is that there’s little to no sillage. If I marinate in it (6-7 sprays) it lasts so I can smell it for about 3-4 hours with a bit of a trail.

smallanimal

literally my favorite perfume as of rn, i got it as a surprise sample along with another perfume i bought on ebay and fell in love immediately. it makes you feel so effortlessly beautiful and radiant. i feel like im really picky about big brand scents bc they tend to feel too generic/~straightforward~ or mature for me (21 y/o) but this one is just perfection. i really love that the perfumer made this with the intention of it being a celebration of femininity bc thats exactly what this is ! the idea that it "brings to light the beauty of woman, while maintaining the mystery of each individual woman" is just absolutely beautiful to me. Jour D'hermes is just a perfect fun, UNIQUE, soft, sweet floral that still feels sexy and wont give you a headache like a lot of other florals. makes me want to run barefoot through a field in a flowy white gown. its the feeling that wearing versace bright crystal gave me but even better. so stoked to wear this in the spring/summer, it feels like it would be perfect for May and June, when things are starting to heat up and the grass is green, so wearing it at home during a brutal winter helps me feel like there are brighter days ahead :)

ayken

You just cannot hate this perfume, like if you do then maaaan you are missing out on this. It is a journey, I imagined myself on a hot summer night or day where i am together with the people i love or the new people in my life. such a welcoming warm adorable scent..... and not only sweet yet sour and fresh, it is a mix of everything you need in a summer heat...it will give you a feeling that you are indeed in the best place and time. And in a way it puts a smile on your face because it is that delish. a unique lovely scent

liaakili

I love love love this jour absolu by Hermes. I have worn it for almost 3 years now after I had disappointed with Hermes des Merveilles. The complexity of top notes and middle notes are divine, the base note comes right away and blends perfectly for easy to wear all year long in a tropical city like Jakarta - Indonesia.

The scent, longevity and silage are totally different from the jour Hermes, don't get the wrong bottle, as it slightly the same but totally different vibe one another. The price of for Hermes line is worth the price for 4-5 hours scent in AC temperature.

My only dislike is the bottle, although it is refillable but so heavy - for sure it is designed to be store on the beauty rack. But thank for the travelling size issuance, I can carry it wherever I'm travelling.

This is definitely one of my favourite perfumes ever and I really wish will never discontinue.

Matheya

This is the best day perfume I own ! Elegant and modern ! Long lasting !
When I tested on paper 2 years ago it stayed on that paper for a week !
I have 2 bottles now which are refillable.
It develops exactly as the notes suggest. At firtst there is a blast of Grapefruit ! in 15 minutes the florals come to play and the drydown is a beautiful mix of all notes ! The grapefruit stays in all stages ! It mixes well with the woodsy- mossy base and the florals. Very classy drydown !
It's not vintage at all. For the grapefruit lovers for sure and very suitable for the summer days ! It's not an evening or a dressy scent but I feel the need to be somewhat put together when I spray it. :))) Not a T-shirt and jeans scent - at least linen shirt , suede loafers and big sunglasses. :))

dimitarlolov

I wondered, what was that familiar smell and today got myself an elder tree juice and voilà, try it and prove me wrong :-p btw this was a gift and I dont care that is for ladies i like it and i wear it

anngelica

I used to know one very elegant Italian lady (older than 80), who used Jour de Hermès as her signature scent. That is why I never considered having it. But recently, my man has presented the Absolu to me, because he likes it so much.

Intoxicating gardenia (by the way, the favorite flower of Sigmund Freud), accompanied by heady fruitiness of grapefruit and apricot flowers, envelopes you in white feminine cloud. A little later, the cloud of white flowers (gardenia, Jasmine, apricot flowers) transforms into a honey-like wave of their nectar.

I personally prefer more indolic compositions. But this is a beautiful cleaner version. Carpe diem and fill it with flowers.

victoria.mei1992

It smells like 100% ylang ylang essential oil. Sour, linear.

cikayexpress

Jour d'Hermes is gréât perfume. The fragrance ans the sillage a absolutely fantastic. I like it si much on my skin

Gintaxx

It's a beautiful fragrance, very sunny and uplifting. Bitter bitter grapefruit is very noticeable, and it's a bit syrupy, (like an overripe, juicy fruit) but floral notes balance it out really well. It's pretty linear on my skin, but still a pretty unique fragrance. It is very similar to the original one, which is more citrusy, crispy, and fizzy.

greenriver

This perfume smells very bitter and spicy on my skin. It smells almost metallic. I prefer a sweeter scent.

Edit: different days smell different. Today I like it enough. Not my favorite, but I'm enjoying it.

drawingmaniac35

I adore the bitter scent of the grapefruit peel. I adore grapefruit (both the scent and the fruit itself) and I always take my time to take in all I can get from the aroma while I am peeling it.
I do get this beloved scent from this fragrance at first but then it quickly turns sour as if it is a lemon and not a grapefruit and after a little while, as the florals kick in, it morphs into something pretty weird to my nose. Almost reminds me of a particular bullion my grandmother would give me when sick while I was a child.

As you might have guessed, I have no desire whatsoever to smell like soup, so I rarely wear this. I may try it in a different weather and see if I still have the same association.

Jmalone84

Wow, at first sniff (accidentally slopped half the mini bottle on myself) I thought I detected honey and patchouli. But no, it’s the interesting composition of flowers and citruses. It also has this clean papery dryness to it. Oh I love this! I must have a full bottle. Finally a floral with a point of difference!!

I didn’t realise this was grapefruit, it doesn’t have the bitterness of grapefruit but it has a hint of delicious tartness to it. I mainly get a very sensuous apricot with some jasmine and lovely fresh undertones of woods and moss. This has everything lovely in it; dry sweet apricot, pretty florals, citrus, tartness and some earthiness. I haven’t adored a new fragrance like this in a long time.

celestial

This perfume has the potential to be beautiful but it smells as if it has gone off (and I tested several bottles). I like the combination of grapefruit, gardenia and jasmine, and in general I really like citruses, but I smell an unpleasant note here, which I think is not found in the original Jour.

AnnieT303

When I first tested this I didn't think it'd work for me. Didn't particularly like it due to the sharp, pungent grapefruit note (which I find, in general, just doesn't work well with my chemistry).

But...once this fragrance starts to dry down and the notes unite (about 20+ minutes into my journey with this) Jour d'Hermes Absolu morphs into this oh-so-pretty, smoothly blended, sophisticated and fairly unique floral fragrance that sort of "sparkles". Very pretty! So glad I gave it time to shine!

colorfulmess

This is an instant love and my favorite out of everything I've tested with Hermes so far. It really grabs you in the first blast with the grapefruit and settles into the most effervescent floral ever. It has a lilting peachy scent in the background which must be the apricot blossom. It actually works well as a magnolia scent too. Gorgeous!

Forbiddenjade

It took me a while to figure whether I liked, or loved this one.

Then I have decided that this is a little gem. Absolu opens with a sweet, ripen and juicy grapefruit. It's a blast of happiness, uplifting and refreshing.
Initially, you would think that that is all there is to enjoy. So misguided.
A gentle, creamy gardenia soon appears in the background, heavenly. Woody notes dance around her. They come, they go, never taking centre stage.

At this point the grapefruit and gardenia blend in a classy, sweet and sour combo that shines like the sun only can do.
This is summer in a bottle. Wear a light coloured linen dress, put on a straw hat - wide brim, 'course - sunglasses and flat leather sandals.... and class will announce your arrival.

Wonderful. Nothing else to add here.

DT953

This is my favourite of the Jour d'Hermes line. The original is fine, but a bit too tart. Gardenia is okay. The parfum is wonderful, but also a bit too expensive for a peasant like me. This is the perfect balance between all of them, striking that juicy delicious grapefruit that you just can't find in any other mainstream releases and a beautiful in-bloom gardenia with creamy nuances.

People compare this to Gabrielle and I find that unfair to both fragrances as each have their own appeal. I prefer this to Gabrielle, but I wear both and recognise the individual strengths of both.

For a citrus fragrance, this performs exceptionally well on my skin and hours after application I still smell that weirdly beautiful opening lingering along with new aspects that only occur after about 2 or 3 hours. I get about 10 hours, but usually more. Never have I ever really found a fragrance that stays just as beautiful from the beginning to the end while also switching and changing throughout the journey. A true joy to wear.

Mooniq

A beautiful scent. Nice mix of Grapefruit, Gardenia, Oakmoss & Woody notes. Maybe not for a teenager but sure for a woman who doesn't seek sugarsweet scents.

Jacquis

It is 80 degrees and heading up to 90 today. Sticky and humid near the ocean. It is difficult to find a perfume that lasts and is not suffocating. Jour d'Hermes Absolu is a gem. The first burst of grapefruit is so refreshing I could shower in it. This is followed up with some light florals and a tinge of something that grounds the perfume. This, I'm assuming is the oak moss and woods. This fragrance stays refreshing for many hours and I can rely on it to see me through til the end of the day. Hermes is becoming my "go to" for Spring/Summer perfumes that last.

Pianomelody

This is really beautiful, bright, very wereable... this is perfect for spring days. Chic-Glamour-Sparkling. I love this, among my favorites of Hermes.💛

Jour d'Hermes Absolu is fresh and citrusy but at the same time sedate and discreet - a lovely versatile combination. After an hour it somehow reminds me of a delicious, comforting cup of lemon tea.

CobraCommander

Smells like fresh celery with a twist of lemon.

Disclaimer: I am a grapefruit fan. I’ve happily worn Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune for years without any ‘cat litter’ issues.

As you can imagine I like this very much. It’s a transparent glassy shampoo floral – but I like it because it’s not buzzy – it’s sweet and fresh without being sharp or sour. And it’s not just grapefruit, the other notes especially the gardenia and the oakmoss are prominent for me too. It has a very appealing sun-warmed skin aspect in the drydown that reminds me fleetingly of the vintage Quartz de Molyneux I wore as a teenager – (different from the current reformulation).

It has that typical JC Ellena slippery translucent quality but there are no strange vegetal notes to contend with – just sunny citrus, flowers and moss shimmering away quietly on the skin – it sits close but it lasts. Yes, you can wear it to the office or parent teacher meetings or to any number of boring situations. But don’t waste it on that, wear it in the spring sunshine under a blue sky and feel the joy.

lsivokhina

Opens floral citrusy, and then I get a lot of grapefruit. It’s a bit similar to Boucheron Quatre but the latter has a floral fuity opening, and gets bitter at drydown.

If you like Jour D’Hermes Absolu, you may also like Boucheron Quatre.

This is a pretty fragrance. I am just not a very big fan of grapefruit in my perfumes - was hoping there will be less of it.

Vespertine__Milo

Hermes house is a patron to a very ambitious dry, citrus category of perfumes. With Jour Absolu is no differently. I was shocked how quickly I totally bought it on my skin despite "the Jasmin" which I trully hate. Jour is a guarantee of my perfect day when I need to stay focused, work but also when simply enjoying a fresh air in the countryside or a park. On me it stays all the time more grapefruit rather than flowery and quite seasoned too.

I believe this is a smell that requires certain age. Not necessarily being 80 to appreciate it and fit your persona, but simply being mature by having behind yourself some dose of life experiences. I totally do not see this on anyone who is a teenager.

embellishments_art

I adore Annick Goutal eau'd Hadrian and wore it for 25 years, but it vanishes in an hour. Now that I live in Las Vegas where it is currently 108 degrees I needed a summer scent with more "guts" and Jour d'Hermes Absolu lasts 6-8 hours in the desert. It is delicious grapefruit, woody, just perfect.

yvonne

I have both Jour and Jour Absolue. I get a beautifully well blended orange blossom note from both of these, but Absolue has a softer creamy feel. The original Jour d'Hermes is more tart. I walked around Neimans with my SA comparing other orange blossom predominant perfumes to Absolue. Orange blossom is quite a challenging note for me, but Absolue gets it just right.

rachael.poarch

I blind bought this perfume because of the raving reviews. Smelling it from the bottle, it's a heavenly, expensive smelling fragrance. However, I've only been able to try it on a handful of times because I get this bitter smell that reminds me of biting into a lemon seed. Is this what it's supposed to smell like (because of the grapefruit, maybe)? I tried it on my husband's skin as well, thinking it was my chemistry, and it smelled exactly the same on him. I'd love to get to the bottom of this: whether my nose is not "sophisticated" enough to understand this sent yet, or if I'm just unlucky and this scent doesn't agree with my skin :(

sugar_sweet

It is beautiful, fresh and expensive smelling in the same time. It is a safe choice when you have a business meeting or any other important things. It wont offend people standing close and it will not distract attention from what you are doing to you loud perfume. I do wear this on business meetings and on dates as well.

kati77

I appraciate this composition and at the same time nothing so special to me ,a grapefruit scent.
Light, and good for spring, i dont get white floral vibe in it.
Sillage average.

Bubbles1964

Jour d'Hermes Absolu is a spring scent verses a height of the summer scent. In heat, I think this might be too much but I will need to test it. Grapefruit is forward, and it changes on the drydown, but what is most remarkable is that this citrus note never goes away. The florals are the supporting act.

Great longevity and moderate projection. Absolu has a mature woman vibe, and I think as long as it's sprayed lightly, good for the office. I can't imagine anyone being offended. The bottle is beautiful too.

Between a "like" and a "love" for me, but I'm not head over heals, still I enjoy having a FB in my collection.

mutintabailey

Hermes is just in a league of it's own with perfume.
I simply adore this perfume, I brought it on a trip to Mexico.
And fell in love instantly the grapefruit is beautiful with the combination of the woody notes.
If you're a white floral lover you'll find this perfume amazing and a good if not excellent blind buy.
All if not most of all Hermes perfumes that have been released are all if not amazing on how their perfumes develop.
This one just simply lingers on clothing and on you're skin and you keep getting strong whiffs of grapefruit and woody notes, both a summer fall winter and spring perfume, simply beautiful! xxx

Hossena05

I blind bought this on ebay based on all your reviews here. I absolutely love it! I wanted something more zesty than my normal fragrances (coco chanel, la petit robe noire, satine). Having tried on zesty/citrusy perfumes in the shops most of them verged on unisex and had limited longevity. So I'm chuffed to bits with this one, it's definitely not your typical white floral perfume. I think it's the apricot and grapefruit combination mixed in with the white floral that makes it a zestier and lighter floral (but not a full on citrus like stella & guerlain pampleune). My husband really likes it too , which is a bonus because I've struggled to find something we both like! Thank you fellow fragranticas xxx

lulami

I like Jour but I love Jour l'Absolue. This has to be an absolute masterpiece of perfumery and a quality fragrance that exudes classiness, modernity and wealth. Yes, I believe this is how wealthy women smell like - a mix of sobriety, intelligence, exquisite manners, boldness but also reservation. This perfume speaks louder than words, it's magnifically thought and attentively crafted making sure the woman who wears it to feel comfortable and to stand out from the crowd. I'm wearing it in full winter, with low temperatures and a freezing cold and it keeps me warm and gives me comfort and strength so I guess it works all-year-round just as perfect. And the quality matches fairly the price. I have finally found the perfect citrus-White floral perfume that does for my case. Thank you Mr Ellena for this outstanding creation !

Venusta

Having only experienced Jour d'Hermes I have to THANK all you WONDERFUL smelling angels for helping me blind buy this beauty! Such a wonderful perfume!

The original on me was too fruity (smelled like grapefruit skin-sour!!), unbalanced and my skin ate it up in like 3 hours. This version, however, is absolute perfection.

Mellowed down grapefruit (not sour, but juicy), amped up white florals and flawlessly grounded with oakmoss. Lasts 7 hours. So sensual. A true classy floral fume with a juicy side.

anilinam

I own both Jour d'Hermes and Absolu. To my nose, both are very similar. In retrospect, I think if you own one, there's no need to own the other.

I purchased them as spring/summer fragrances; However, I've found I love wearing them in cold days, when I wish to encourage spring to come a little sooner. They remind me of sunny days and bring a smile to my heart.

Here's the main point to consider when choosing between the two:

To my nose, oakmoss, a note I usually dislike, is used here in a subtle form; it grounds Absolu; it gives this fragrance a heftier presence and a bit more glamour than Jour. Yet, I have found that when temperatures exceed 76F, the honey tones (which are present in both fragrances, at least on my skin) in Absolu, go into overdrive, and I start finding this GORGEOUS fragrance cloying; while I find Jour can withstand higher temperatures and might be a bit more office friendly than Absolu.

I think both compositions are beautiful and recommend them to anyone who enjoys grapefruit, white florals and honey. I recommend paying attention to the weather in your city when you decide between the two.

violetta1975

Omg I so love this perfume! After a few hours it turns into some creamy addictive heaven! I cannot analize the smell but it is simply fantastic! I just cannot stop smelling the air around me. Love love LOVE!

yanti

This flanker has more sophisticated smell compared to original jour d hermes, perhaps due to toned down sourness? A sour grapefruit mixed with bit of white flower, and a bulk of aromatics wood and earth. To me, it mostly grapefruit and wood. A quality fragrance, last quite long evenmore on clothes. A love...

lunareclipse

Jour d`Hermes Absolu is an expensive smelling, grapefruity scent that is good for warm weather. Not suitable for blind buy. The grapefruit here is different from the girly YSL Babydoll or the unisex Jo Malone's Grapefruit. The backdrop that cradles the grapefruit is smooth, well-blended, mostly green and a bit warm, where I cannot pick out individual notes. The most disappointing thing is I don't smell any flowers! I would not categorize it a floral scent. The descriptions from fragrantica, Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman, and even Hermes are all misleading!

It is a grapefruit drink on a lakeside terrace in the spring or summer. Somewhat sweet, maybe a tonic served with a twist of rind. When it's cooler, the perfume could be too acidic. I like it when I spritz it over my floral perfumes such as Michael Kors or Balenciaga Florabotanica depending on my mood. Its longevity is also a good match against these two examples.

I like it but not love it. Wish it were more floral and less acidic. Would not pay anywhere near full price.

Update: I wear this in the dead of winter in coastal Northern Calfornia and I'm liking it more and more. I spray 2-3 spritz and go about town and once in a while I catch a whiff of it. Such a happy and unique scent. Previously I wished it were more floral, but nah. it's gorgeous as is! Definitely want to get refill when I run out.

Sapienta

Hermes perfumes always stir strong emotions and physical responses. This one took my breath away. The first perfume I didnt have an impulse to analyze the notes.

it's animalistic, my partner said there is an intriguing appeal to be constantly close to me.
It's absolutely stunning, sexual, intimate and dreamy.
wow. incredible formulation

polkadot27

Divine, absolutely mouthwatering, But insanely expensive, and it is the only perfume ever that brought me out in an itchy rash, I must have an allergy to a certain note in this scent. It is beautiful, strong, powering and long lasting though. I love the scent. Too pricey for my budget however. I am not a millionaire.

cocolover56

While I get the comparissons to Gabrielle by Chanel, does it really have much else in common apart from that grapefruit? I don't know and don't really mind. This one is all over classy, in a toned down way. Super effortless, able to be enjoyed by all. Very invigorating. Works well for the younger crowd, and the crowd who grew up with more complicated scents.

Longevity is amazing.
This is nu Hermes, but 'nu' in the best possible way.

Soofiya

This one was in my wantlist for a long time,it's notes look so promising as I love gardenia and all in all white flowers and I imagined their combination with grapefruit and peach blossom will smell like my beloved boucheron quatre.
I was really shocked when I tried it.this is not a fresh scent IMO.it's warm and heavy woods and flowers feel cloying in a hot summer day.but this isn't the real reason of disliking it as I can handle heavier perfumes easily
Grapefruit has a zesty bitterness as if it's grapefruit skin not it's juice and woody notes make it even drier and more bitter.Hermes jour absolu lacks even slightest hints of sweetness and freshness that I expect from such a perfume.I'm happy that I didn't blindbuy it since I couldn't wear it at all.it's a warm, bitter and mature woody-whitefloral scent, has it's own personality and is original and pretty longlasting so I can see why some people may love it but not me,I prefer original Hermes jour which is less woody/heavy/warm and has some freshness but not that I like it.I just dislike it less.it seems that I don't have much chance with Hermes fragrances
P.s:both of them have formal and mature vibe IMO

kl99

I find the original Jour sad and cold, rigid.
But this one is better, it is warmed, make me think to a sunny hot day in spring after a brief rain falls. Yes, I sense it lightly earthy like a touch o patchouly/vetiver between dozen of golden mature agrumes and a cup of peach tea.

This is Gree-Chic, country-sophisticated
Never my favourite but Good this time.

rakan1985

scent : 8/10
sillage : 7/10
longevity :7/10
80% day/20% night fragrance
nice green feminine scent
reminds me of Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate by Hermes

colorfulmess

I was at the Sephora counter looking for a fresh scent that would wake me up on those hot summer days when I just want to take a nap. This achieved that effect on paper; the most effervescent grapefruit attacks your senses and suddenly I'm alert and paying attention! Then I smell something like green hay on top of the citrus. In a few minutes later I can barely detect anything. I am learning how tricky citrus scents can be, both in terms of lasting power and tolerance. Perhaps I will experiment layering BBW Grapefruit over Pacifica Gardenia and see if I can achieve a similar result for less.

missk

YouTube reviewer Beauty Meow was the one that encouraged me to test Jour d'Hermes Absolu. Four years ago I tested the original Jour d'Hermes and my experience was less than favorable. I found it to be too citrusy and strong for my personal tastes.

Jour d'Hermes Absolu also features the bold, citrusy grapefruit accord found in the original however I consider this blend to be much smoother despite it being a louder fragrance.

This fragrance is an autumnal, rich bouquet of gardenia, apricot blossom and jasmine. The grapefruit adds a tart-like aroma and the oakmoss and cedar in the base makes it slightly more earthy and warm.

Jour d'Hermes Absolu is a full-bodied floral on my skin. It's a fragrance along the same lines as My Burberry, J'Adore by Christian Dior and Sublime by Jean Patou. A classic, extremely elegant white floral best suited to the colder seasons and special occasions.

Hermes is a luxury brand in many ways, with Jour d'Hermes Absolu being the very epitome of the brand. I would also consider this fragrance one of the more wearable, less complicated scents from Jean-Claude Ellena's creations.

Lilac&gooseberries

Grapefruit in the opening... apricot blossom (or any flowering tree) with creamed honey... something slightly pungent, mossy, animalic clinging onto it... like those succulents in southern trees that live off only air. Longevity is quite nice. This is my first complicated perfume and honestly, Jour d'Hermes Absolu had to grow on me for a few days. It was too classy for me. It smells like the gin & tonic I don't order at the bar because I still drink Corona with lime. But I *will* be the woman who wears this, just let me get my linen pants...

ssaminn

This is the second review I'm writing on this fragrance; I scraped the other one because I realized my skin chemistry doesn't work with Jour d`Hermes Absolu and I did another test on paper.

On my skin, this is a disaster! I think for whatever reason my skin burns this fragrance if it makes any sense. I literally get a smoky citrus smell after 5 seconds upon spraying it, and It smells like a synthetic bitter sour rotting grapefruit on a very warm, almost furnace like base! Appropriate for the summer? Hell no! There is also no florals on my skin. And, it clings to my skin, and I don't get any projection.

On paper, however, It's a unique bitter grapefruit well blended with florals, and it oozes coolness! It's very breezy like how the spring winds feel and smell. You get very subtle blossom smells, and before you know it, it's gone; like you're walking in nature. This fragrance is very well blended, and it's hard to distinguish different florals in it, none of them jumps out.

When I smell the paper, I think this is a non-sweet citrusy- almost floral unisex fragrance for hot summer days; But only if it works with your chemistry and if you like the un-sweetness. It does have moderate projection and longevity.

éciboszi

.
I really love bottle 2 now. I always feel I need it. I used it in winter, and it is delicious in the spring. I love her is mine.

LeFrank

Jour d'Hermes Absolu is a beautiful floral scent that captures the freshness of flowers without relying heavily on their sweetness. The jasmine and gardenia are rounded out with a bit of moss and wood. As with most Hermes scents, the longevity is sincere. The sillage, however, is minimal - this is an intimate fragrance, most successfully noticed in close quarters.

giasan

I love it, it's spring in a bottle and this is my favourite season! I got complimented when wearing it and this doesn't happen too often. Would definitely repurchase it.

lalanast

I don't care about classy, sophisticated-looking perfume bottles; now the fragrance itself, that is a different thing. I'd fancy a classy and dare I say, elegant perfume in a bottle that is fun, a bit odd and even kitschy (cf. Florabotanica and Rosabotanica by Balenciaga). That's how I like to think of myself - classy gal in a trashy packaging.

Anyhow, I would never have discovered this perfume if it wasn't for my flatmate at the time who in her turn, liked everything elegant. She had a large bottle of what I now think was Jour d`Hermes and not Jour d`Hermes Absolu; although that is irrelevant since I now love them both and to me they have the same kind of vibe even if they aren't exactly same (slight preference towards the latter though, which is why I'm writing on its page). She kept it on a bathroom shelf right next to the light bulb, what a chump! That made me cringe every time; yet anyway the kid inside me found the bottle to be too boring to contain anything of interest.

Long story short, fortunately one day my curiosity prevailed and I discovered what has now become one of my favorite scents. It smells beautiful and has quite a sillage and lasts long on my skin which is rare! I loved Hermes before too, and now they can't even fool me with a boring bottle!

Nikkafragrance

A very refreshing and energising scent, in case one loves grapefruit. However I am not a big fan of that note. The perfume is very longlasting and has a great silage, but it's too masculine for my liking. It's mainly grapefruit and woods, not floral at all. It can perfectly pass as a modern chypre. It's definitely a compliment getter, I've been asked several times what I was wearing, but I find it too bitter and slightly soapy on my skin. Anyway, it's a high quality scent, so if you like loud citrusy and unisex fragrances, check it out.

Very good quality perfume. A beautiful, delicate, bright floral. Feminine and classy. Love the smell of apricot blossom in it. It does last the entire day with moderate sillage.

Megamind

I tried the both jour d'hermès and jour d'hermès absolu. And I prefer jour d'hermès absolu as it is more sophisticated. It has a little attractive and different vibe and this mouthwatering creaminess. It has something punchy.
I can clearly distinguish gardenia in it and strangely an apple note not mentioned in the pyramid. May be there is something similar in apricot flowers which ressembles to apple smell. This fragrance is very sunny and joyful with it's creamy jasmine beneath. I do not get so much grapefruit as others say. It certainly a question of skin chemistry. For me it is very flowery and sunny. I like to wear it in winter when sun and summer warmth are missing.
This fragrance is far from innocent notwithstanding the first fresh impression. There is something quite mature, serious and seductive about it. It is done to be worn on evening go out well dressed occasions.
You will become the star of the evening with it as this juice flows to the earth directly from Olympe :) So feminine, luminous, sunny, gorgeous, stunning and seductive at the same time. I'm pretty sure Aphrodite goddess smelled like this. Well done Jean-Claude Ellena!

amirali0072000

Jean-Claude Ellena really knows how to create fragrances.smell natural and strong. This is very lovely.i smelll it very similar to Jour d'Hermes Hermes.it has a popular scent
Perfect for summer days..
It has got a good projection.
It has got a perfect longevity..
Every time you wear it, you get compliments.
love it.

Papavero0

And now this will always remind me of wedding day since I chose to wear this on a midsummer day. I see how some find the grapefruit sour/bitter on their skin, but thankfully, I love yellow grapefruit. This is somehow a sparkling perfume in my mind, something uplifting and joyous.

nehash_1

Just can't get over you. You're the epitome of modernness and sexyness. You're an absolute delight. I fall in love with myself Everytime I wear you on my skin. Can't wait to get my hands on your refill bottle. Though you're expensive but so totally worth every single penny. Love you!

Edemay

Beautiful, classic and classy.
I have been dreaming up a scent like this for a while.
Perfect balance of white flowers and fruitiness and could suit any age.

Edit: tried this on my skin and I got a very sour, bitter grapefruit. Did not work on me AT ALL. Which is ussually the case with strong florals and fruits.

Jenavira

For me at least a more honeyed richer Jour d'Hermes. I was hoping to get the apricot blossom note that many mentioned but I instead got an intenser sweeter grapefruit. If I did not have a bottle of the original Jour d'Hermes I would probably buy this but really no need at this point.

fleur_de_mimosa

A delicate bouquet of spring flowers, apricot blossoms most noticeable. There's something masculine about this fragrance that I like. Composition is very old school and classic. Musk dry-down bit of a disappointment. I had expected something more sophisticated.

dzingunyte

i felt in this fragrance hint of rotten fruits note and i liked it :D it really smells not cheaply. it's elegant and summery scent. i would like to own a bottle of this, even though i have jour d'hermes :D

raiza1990

This is better than the original, this one is fruitier, very peachy and does not have that sweat smell that the original has. The individual flowers notes are also easier to identify. I can smell jasmine and gardenia and they are very nicely done in this fragrance.

lemmenkukka

Now I own this ode for feminity. Apricot flower and grapefruit is truly a dynamic combo. I tested this several times before purchasing and now this is my new love. Both men and women ask what is it I'm wearing, so I think it's also a good bargain concearning of one's environment also. No headache, no sneeze! I feel very feminine wearing this and it has a very uplifting quality to my wellbeing. This is Mediterra in a bottle... pure love at first glimpse. All the best for Mr Ellena!

nehash_1

UPDATE - I have owned a bottle for a while and this is hands down my favorite perfume EVER

-----------

I have a tester for this one. Sprayed it on today and didn't quite fancy it initially.. seemed like just another boring sweet floral fragrance. But once it dried down (about 30 min post application) it turned into something completely different.Difficult to explain but let me try..

somewhere buried inside the base notes is a very unique sexy animalic quality. Not the regular musky animalic. This is more raw, close to the smell of skin animalic. Of course the rawness is perfecly coated with a pleasant smoky woody floral essence making the entire package something to die for!

And the longevity and sillage are great! I can literally smell it the next day!

I am buying a bottle shortly :)

thesheppardess

large amount of grapefruit for me and not much of anything else. Somewhere in the long distant past there was something cologne...citrus..... Jean Nate, that was it. Found this with Jour d'Hermes as well

Lexa

Seems like i poured all the grapefruit freshmade juice all over me.this is the first impression. In the following minutes,i'm walking through a jasmine garden with my soaked in grapefruit juice shirt and these two combined makes my mouth water. This is all i get from eau absolu ,and i' m happy with it but not in love.My skin begs for a little musk, cedar, wood, whatever so this can settle down great...unfortunatelly not this time.Great for a fresh spring morning or even summer.great silage, great longevity.

sky blue

This is louder and attracts more attention than original Jour d'Hermes. The very beginning is quite harsh with some sour notes and after that it develops into a ladylike, full of sillage, green floral-rose-lightly chypre fragrance. All the time it is rather strong, staying power and sillage are excellent on my skin. It could be too demanding if you are not into chypre or green-floral notes. It is beautiful, an excellent fragrance, but just a bit too sharp for my liking.

Kyara

I was looking for an everyday type of scent I don`t get bored of. This is very lovely, feminine and indeed very floral scent, not to soapy. The apricot drydown reminds me of Rochas Secret de Rochas, which I prefer because it is less florally, but Jour d`Hermes Absolu lasts longer and has more depth. Even the next morning after more than 24 hours I could very well detect it on my wrist. I will not get the full bottle, because it is too florally and creamy for my liking. But never offending. Overall I definitely do recommend testing this perfume. Maybe I will come back to this perfume after some time or try out other scents by Hermes.

manta

It was so exciting on the first spray. The notes that jumped at me were RHUBARB and BEESWAX, which are apparently not part of it at all. How unusual! How refreshing and interesting, nay, *daring* of Herm- oh, no, nevermind, because those perceived notes dissipate almost immediately and leave you with the standard heady, musty, "old lady" scent that all Hermes fragrances dry down to IMHO. I still sample it when I find myself in an airport that carries Hermes, just for that little initial kick, like wistfully thinking about a relationship that could have been. And then I move on.

TillyWave_archive

Jour d'Hermes succeeds in making me feel a sense of place. I feel a summertime ripeness, sweet flowers diffusing into humid air, strong sunlight from directly overhead, warming up soil from beneath my feet.

The grapefruit notes are transient in the Absolu version, mingling but then giving way to the apricot blossoms, and the sweet, ripe white flowers. The floral notes are dense and sweet. As it wears the perfume almost seems to take on an ambery cast, there is an oily, slightly spicy undertone to the white flowers. There is a hint of oakmoss/woods as well, laying under the flowers.

After the first hour this wears subtly on me, but loud enough that I can always detect it, and lasts 6+ hours. I really like this, for its sweet, saturated, ripe take on white flowers.

sjd610

I meant to get a sample of Jour d'Hermes but instead got the Absolu version.

As soon as I sprayed it on my wrist I immediately thought of Jo Molone's English Pear & Freesia, except this has a more sour smell on my skin which is the citrus coming out. All I can smell after the opening is sour jasmine which turns 'creamy', as others have described, and is less sharp the longer it's on my skin. However it sits harshly in my throat and brings on a headache due to the jasmine. So if you're sensitive to perfumes and get headaches easily, I'd recommend avoiding this.

I will still try and find a sample of Jour d'Hermes but it also has a citrus opening scent and may not work well on my skin.

SayakaP

Jour d'Hermes Absolu.
The first sniff of this reminded me of Un Jardin sur le Nil a lot.
That Vegetable-y Grapefruit.

Then 30seconds later, the dewy Appricot made me smile!

And when the honeyed white flowers emerged, I decided to buy a bottle.

This is, to me, a rare fragrance that evokes a scenery, not certain type of woman.
It feels like I am standing under a tree in full bloom, looking up at the blue of the sky through the white flowers and bright green leaves.
It's the smell of actual flowers. Living. Full of force.

As the opulent Gardenia & Jasmin gradually fade, it becomes Chypre.
Honey / Flower Necter Chypre.

This beauty is not of man-made.
I think Monsieur Ellena is J.S. Bach of olfactory world.
I love Bach because his music sound natural like ocean wave, wind, rain etc..
Like him, Ellena can capture and re-create the brilliance of nature...

Agata654

This fragrance opens with sharp, bitter notes of grapefruit and jasmine. I feel like grapefruit dominates delicate white flowers in the first half an hour after application, but after that white flowers become more and more detectable. The oakmoss added at the end tries to balance the white flower notes, but definitely it looses the battle with highly concentrated jasmine and gardenia.

It definitely has good lasting power and good sillage, however those that can't tolerate high concentrations of white flowers will be definitely disappointed by this one.

Also another thing that puts me off from this perfume is that it appears to be rather masculine, than feminine...

tommy_girl

I like both jour and jour absolu. To me jour absolu simply smells like sour, fresh grapefruit mixed with rose and some other spring flowers. as a fresh citrus perfume, its longevity and sillage are great. on the other hand, there are lots of reasons that distract my attention from this beauty. first and most important element is the bottle that I don't find beauty at all. maybe I like my bottles to be more funny and easy going than this serious one. second, i have the feeling that it suits ladies with more mature tastes in perfumes than me. it would be great choice for women who are classy and want to but perfumes suitable for summer, but not for me with kinky tastes in perfumes!

Anouk_0501

I am not a fresh perfume person because usually on my skin this kind of perfumes do not last more than 2 hours or maybe I just do not feel their smell anymore. so, I usually like the musk and woody perfumes, the sweet ones, like Velvet Orchid or Hermes Elixir des Merveilles.

But as summer is here, I was looking for a perfume that I really like and not wanted to just buy something else that is clean, but I am not a fan of.

I was in Qatar airport when I walked around in the most luxurious duty free I have ever entered, when one of the ladies approached me and had me smell it on my wrist. I was a fan of Hermes fragrances, since I am fascinated by Elixir, that is my signature fragrance fir winter, so I said, please, I'd like to try it.

The instant I sprayed it on my wrist, I fell in love!!! That was the summer perfume I dreamed of! The first spray consists of citrus note, grapefruit is exactly what I got, then the floral comes in, with a fresh and green smell, not too girly, but rather classy and elegant, ladylike aroma. A wonderful perfume for the hot days, I wore it it my Thailand holiday, where temperatures exceeded 35 degrees and it was ok, it was exactly what you need in a very hot day, that refreshing and invigorating smell that will keep you going when the sun is too generous :D

Highly recommended, I guess I'll be a Hermes girl a very long time for now, I know I'll buy this fragrance as soon as I finish this bottle!

Elegant, fresh, floral and light, but with personality! no detergent trace, no cheap fresh perfume hint there, just LOVE it!!!

Water Lily Pond BY Claude Monet

Hipchick40

It's so interesting how differently scents come across depending on the season. This winter, when I originally fell in love with this, it was light and sweet. I didn't actually even use it then, I left it to sit so prettily on my dresser knowing I'd know when the time was right for it! In my head, it was an elegant, classy, night fragrance that would only be detected by me and my husband.
For some odd reason, today was the day! My son and I had been talking about the word "muggy" just prior to me selecting my perfume of the day. How quickly our state turns from arctic to muggy! And it's grey and dull sky contrasts so deeply with the lush fresh spring green, flowers and trees are popping with color. Believing this to be a quiet smell, I sprays at the base of my neck and once in each wrist. Whoa! This is not the scent I remembered from February!
The grapefruit is delicious and was totally undetected months ago. This is sparkly and when I have perused my options looking for such a scent, I can't believe I glossed over it! No more. I have found something with the summery balance I need. In a few minutes, the grapefruit melts into the white flowers. It is best described as intoxicating. The apricot blossom carries the sweet notes I must have noticed more in snowy months but balances this citrus and sharp, green white flowers. I agree, it is so well blended that after it settles in, it is tough to pick notes apart. I don't actually see this as evening only anymore. I'm wearing a tee with a summery bright pink skirt and leather flip flops and I feel totally comfortable! I've never been one to dress down more than this tho.
Sillage is where I went wrong. It is much bigger than I had predicted so next time, one spray will do, perhaps two for the evening vibe. Longevity is yet to be determined for me but if it lasts in any way, I actually think I've found my holy grail for summer. It's not that I won't wear others, I love so many, but this, to me, is so wearable, beautiful, bright and sparkling. True love!

Kterhark

I bought this; and I don't take buying perfume lightly. People who can pull off Jour Absolu probably like floral greens, oakmoss and woods. They likely already own Mitsouko and a few other chypre grand dames.

Absolu is a true forbidden fruit. It's un-abashadly lush and ripe. It makes me feel feminine and receptive. This is my first Hermes scent, and I couldn't be more pleased. Love!

Thaleh

Bought it for a friend for her birthday. Was pregnant at the time so it didn't really smell nice to me. Recently smelled it again and I WANT IT!

Jadelynn

I've never tried the original and am not entirely sure if I want to based on the Absolu version. As others have said, I find the grapefruit overwhelming, it's far too tart/sharp and masks everything else. The silage is also quite heavy on me so I can't get away from the smell. It literally fills up the air around me in whatever room I'm in.

I wish I could sense the white floral elements of it that some other reviewers do, but I'm in the category of people who gets nothing but grapefruit from this :(

RayF

I got a sample of this Absolu version of Jour d'Hermes today. This is much much sweeter, sharper and richer in general than the original Jour, and somehow it makes me a little dizzy and uncomfortable. Too much citurs and flower coming out at the same time. Love the Jour, but not so much for this one.

Frayja

Is like Jour d' Hermes,but Intense!Beautiful!

Feli15

A beautiful, radiant, light floral. So soft, fresh and feminine. For some reason it reminds me of j'adore probably because they share very similar 'sunny floral' vibe. I find Jour Absolu more refined though, and I love the smell of apricot blossom in it.

The Wandering Fern

I was really hoping to love this based on having some of my most favorite notes; unfortunately I found this very sour, almost as if unripe grapefruit peel was the main note. *cries*

BethAshley

I sampled Absolu and the original Jour D'Hermes at the same time.

While I loved them both I ended up choosing the original. For me, while there was a degree of added richness to Absolu, it doesn't sparkle in the same way the original does. Also, Absolu has more patchouli/musk than the original which didn't work for as well with skin chemistry.

It seems that both of these scents are highly dependent on skin chemistry and I would 100% recommend trying them both before making a purchasing decision.

Martaynd

If the regular Jour D'Hermes is a cake with icing, the Absolu is the cherry on top. I don't know how they thought they could have improved in the original, but they did. I own both and prefer the Absolu version. Can't tell you why, yet. They are both relatively new to my collection and I'd need more time with them to discover why I reach for the Absolu over her sister.

TIP: this fragrance comes in a body cream/butter that is over the top lux. It carries the fragrance expertly without any interference from other ingredients. It does not smell diluted or altered from the fragrance in any way. It is a pricey product, but if you are budget conscious, get it instead of the bottled fragrance and I think you will be just as pleased. I'm greedy and want it too. ;-) It is a top notch body cream. Fragrance lasts as long as the perfume and it really moisturizes your skin to boot!!! You would have NO problem with longevity if you layer the two ( I really don't think there is a need to layer) . You would probably get 12 hours out them for sure, if you did.

nanomira

This perfume is such a nice surprise. It made it's way to my top 5 perfumes. It is funny though because I usually do not like fruity perfumes. This one is fruity, juicy, floral, feminine, elegant. I am using this perfume for quite a while and I must also say that I am getting a lots of comments about how beautiful my perfume is. ;-) It is worth to try.

Ice.femme

ohh... this is my favorit perfume right now. I really really love it, good job

amyewest

Grapefruit and apricots instead of just grapefruit in Jour D'Hermes. Still no flowers that everyone else smells. Pity.

alfarom

A cheerful white floral that's completely been devoided of white floral's sharp edges, indolic and challenging aspects. Smooth and juicy, safe, easy to like and potentially appealing to people of any age. Unfortunately it suffers during the drydown of that sour woody-musky base that's typical of way too many Ellena's feminines of the last 10 years or so.

Beautiful presentation and bottle.

Rating: 5/10

eaudemoi

If the original Jour d'Hermes was a tribute to the young rays of morning sunlight, L'Absolu is at midday, a bit past noon, the sun warming the grapefruit orchards and gardenias to saturation.

You might feel like you're bathing in the creamy gold light of a million petals sprinkled with tart juice.

Or, you might find yourself assaulted by too much light, too much warmth.

I can actually see this perfume as a person - a tall, beautiful, garrulous dark blonde Tuscan woman, with a natural busty hourglass figure, bright smile, white clothes, and lots of gold jewelry. (That's entirely out of my imagination, I've never spent time in Tuscany) Beautiful? Yes. Tasteful? Possibly. Subtle? No.

pi^2

Strong, natural smelling white flowers. Like other fragrances with strong natural flowers (like Pleasures Intense) it stays high above my skin. Doesn't blend in.

It makes me think of a powerful but pure woman. Someone who is very honest and direct. It is not playful or seductive. It smells sophisticated because it is so pretty and true to itself, but there is also something naive about its simplicity. Almost like actually wearing a tiara of white flowers. You look like a goddess, but it is a bit awkward...

Oh, and I love the bottle!

ScarlettX

It's an elegant and well composed white floral. For some reason, seems quite green to me. No sweetness there. It reminds me of blooming trees at spring.
In my opinion, this one is expensive smelling.
I like it's simplicity.
A great floral scent, not sharp or cloying in any way.

Julie Billi

A celebration of intense white flowers! Very feminine and romantic masterpiece!!

dolcethadon

A family member had wanted me to test this one out for her.. Well i finally ran into this Jour d'Hermes Absolu and I sprayed some on my wrist.. It opens up very fresh and tart almost like Gucci Eau De Parfum II.. I believe I detect some tart fruits like blackcurrant and or raspberry along with some citrus.. Once the fresh citric notes and the fruity tart notes calm down a bit the florals really start to come out, and the scent starts to come together.. This Absolu is blended so well that it is very hard to tell what notes you are smelling.. This scent smells very unique and seductive for a warm weather fragrance.. Very good quality! I really like this one a lot.. I definately recommend this fragrance..

raunchy

Im not into pure white floral, but this one just sooooo good!!
Fell in love right away after the SA spray it at my wrist. while in my country cost $160, crazy, but... i don't want to suffer myself when im home and think about it.
Perfect blend, luxury, great quality. Last on my skin, cloth, pillow, everywhere i smell this gorgeous lady. Feel like im on the garden of eden when i smell it around.
Trully beauty!!

dsty

This is the first floral perfume that I really like. I don't get any citrus in it, to me it's all floral honey. This is how I imagine nectar must smell to a bee, more or less. It's very sweet and quite uncomplicated, it doesn't change much throughout its short to medium life span, but it still smells sophisticated somehow. After three wearings I'm still not sure whether I love it enough to buy a full bottle, but I think it's definitely going to be a gateway into floral perfumes for me. For starters, I want to try the original jour as soon as possible to compare!

lesecretforme

I can't even smell the perfumes from this house. On card or on skin. It's like I sprayed pure water? I dunno. I want a perfume that sticks with me for these kinda dollars. : /

RoRoSe

Jour d`Hermes Absolu

It took my breath from the 1st sniff
Usually I don't pay any attention for summery fruity or floral scents .. they all smells the same to my nose I love heavy orientals instead

But this one changed my mind about florals , and changed my mind about HERMES house in general.

I don't find it similar to the original .. I can smell Aldehydes in the original

Apricot blossoms are so charming here , it smells young & beautiful reminds me of VS scents .. I am so in love

Love it <3

My darling

victoria.mei1992

Very sour and jasmine smell, remember sour puke smell at first:( After is better.

IndigoEye

I guess I'm just not an Hermès fan - smelt good but evaporated into nothingness - so quick I barely had a chance to enjoy the florals.
Good if: you like things very translucent.

Amalfi

Jour d'Hermes Absolu, three words: "luxury, passion, love".

sirop de Liège

A really nice summer floral with exceptional longevity. Once you get past the initial blast of grapefruit a green floral perfume appears. Very nice, especially since a) not sickly sweet, b) no patchouli and c) remarkably fresh.
A very nice summer scent but just a little too 'green'to my liking, I prefer my florals to be cloying and heavy which I find more suitable for our rather wet and chilly summers.

Phantosmia Bella

My parents accidently bought this for me instead of "Jour d'Hermes", which I've sampled and loved.

JDA is indeed a denser, heavier version of JD, but it's not a similar scent.

The Absolu version is an enigmatic, extremely flowery, majestic and ultra-classy scent. It feels musky, creamy, and very "dressed-up". A scent one actually feels the need to don one's best dress for. I can't see myself wearing this in my shorts and tank top :)

After the first hour or so, it becomes closer to the skin, warm and sweet, yet still an epitome of elegance.

I still consider getting JD one day, as it's more suitable for everyday wear, IMHO, but I love JDA.

Longevity is good and sillage fair to moderate, which I find very pleasing.

AND-MAT

This is possibly the closest perfume that describes heaven's scent! So pure, so peaceful and so clean!

Starts out citrussy but quickly morphs into white flowers! I smell gardenia... This is the flower I smell the most. I am sure because it's the flower I am most familiar with it's scent. But I can really tell that this is not pure gardenia. Other flowers are dancing around but so well blended that you can't really separate them individually.

A really great spring time scent.
A modern masterpiece!

littebee

Love, love, love it!

as a white flower lover there was no other way:)Here is a bonus: citrusy-green opening, then white flowers, and smooth dry down.

Lily2911, I agree with every single word of your review. It's unique, classy, modern and just perfect!

alchemist1976stephanie

A nice fresh floral with a watery citrus undertone. Great for spring and summer since it is light. Very refreshing scent, clean without being laundry detergent - smells vey close to acqua universalis. If you like that, you will enjoy this.

Lily2911

This is the most enigmatic perfume I've ever smelled. I needed 3 trial sessions before I finally saw the immense beauty. I was also off guarded at the first sniff by the famous tart grapefruit opening and thought that this was not a "nice" frag. But the scent lingered on my skin for hours and haunted me for days... there was something so intriguing in this frag. I tested 2 additional times both Jour and the Absolu version and I got the final revelation yesterday. The Absolu is just a hidden beauty who will not reveal herself, nor will she please the masses. She is not created to seduce people from the first sniff and Claude Ellena is a master in making minimalist - and not to confuse simplistic- very sophisticated scents against all trends. I finally discovered that after the grapefruit citrus opening the whole Garden of Eden appears with a shining rainbow on the horizon. It is impossible to detect all the notes one by one, it is orchestrated by the master Ellena that you get only the full painting and not just some brushes of colors and lightning. I detect the most delicate palette of everything and at the same time all the contrasts of floral, fruits, warm earthy notes. And the flowers are also multi-layered : pure green florals of hyacinth/Lily-of-valley maybe, then much warmer jasmin, gardenia and apricot blossom. This delicate apricot blossom provides that warm note of peachy accord, similar to orange blossom but more delicate and dainty. This perfume has so many different facets and is full of contrasts : first the chilliness, triggered by the grapefruit, just to wake your senses. Afterwards the green and warm florals, then the amazing sparkling "fruity" notes which are less present in Jour(apple, rhubarb, grapefruit) finally the warm earthy amber dry down. The dimensions and aspects change every time you wear this beauty, one day you smell more citrus notes, or the green flower notes, other days more the warm flowers : very magical !! The silage and longevity of the Absolu is stunning : it remains min. 8 hours on my skin whereas Jour dissapeared after 3 to 4 hours.

It is one of the most vibrant, luminous and complex fragrance I have ever encountered : it is not a citrus cologne, it is not just a floral, it is not fruity nor musky, amber perfume : no it is ALL of that and more and as JC Ellena quoted himself : “In most of the fragrances I do, I try to put a smile” and he succeeded to this with Jour Absolu !

ADORE!! LOVE!!! this is one of type of scents in which I woul love to swim for some hours :D I want to spritz it all over my body about 100 times....so watery, so flowery, so fresh, so springy!!!!

As I saw it on the shelf at Sephora I had to try it. I quite like Jour d'Hermes, because I find it a modern elegant scent, nothing memorable but given the current situation in perfumery...
Disappointment. I expected a richer and rounder Jour less herbal pungent, instead I found that annoying grapefruit note taken an pinch higher and volumised. The worst aspect of Jour emphatised. Grapefruit smells a little acrid and nauseous in nature to my nose, but not to the point achieved by these chemicals!
The problem is that (being maybe my imagination?) grapefruit in perfumes smells like some types of armpits. Some people have this type of acrid-fruity-floral and acute armpit.
Why enhancing this edge of Jour? It was acceptable when tamed in the regular version.
Did they have to get rid of big quantities?
Unfortunately Jour Absolu never go beyond this note that overpower the rest of composition. It never settles better, it just sits on my skin. I don't have many chances to smell perfumes on other people, so I can only speak for my chemistry. I'm curious about other reaction.
the 3 listed floral notes, if they do exist, got lost into the grapefruit tin.
Longlasting but disappointing.

This is a big squirt of grapfruit with white flowers hiding somewhere underneath. I find it refreshing and invigorating, it's like a realy intense version of the original, and where the original didn't last on me this one does. I can imagine this as a great workwear scent to start the spring days off, fresh and energising, and as it dries down throughout the day it becomes more floral and soft, ready for an evening relaxing.

To my nose, it is just unbearable! Sour, sour, sour! Like lemon, even if no citrus is listed in ingredients.

meama

Close but nicer than the original.

Jasminalia

Much more chypre than the original, with an Angel effect (fruit + patchouli) on my skin.
Should be tried on skin !

I had a quick spray of this in the Nice duty free and it smelt very similar to the original to me. Still a pretty abstract floral bouquet. It does have very good longevity and sillage though (particularly for a JCE). The bottle seemed to be the most sprayed one in the store as well as it was nearly empty!

I too found the sharp citrus opening overwhelming. To me it smelled like sour tinned grapefruit and then that tin can element grew very strong on me - until it had almost like a metallic/blood tang. Very disturbing and unpleasant - if I wanted that kind of challenge I would not be looking for it from Hermes. Frankly weird and not what I expected at all.

Jour d'Hermes Absolu has finally launched although I am not sure if it was a pleasant experience. To me it is almost identical to the original. I was expecting blooming gardenia and jasmine and it's still all about grapefruit and white flowers. Grapefruit is pungent and literally 'covers' the smoothness of white flowers. I was expecting a smoother, creamier version , a warmer sensation on the skin.. All I get is a huge grapefruit note and those poor flowers struggling to come to the surface. Good lasting power and good silage.
