Kelly Caleche by Hermès is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Kelly Caleche was launched in 2007. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena. Top notes are Grapefruit, Narcissus and Lily-of-the-Valley; middle notes are Rose, Mimosa and Tuberose; base notes are Leather and Iris. This perfume is the winner of award FiFi Award Best National Advertising Campaign / Print 2008.

Kelly Calèche: written by Jean-Claude Ellena as an interpretation of the memory of a visit to the Hermès skin warehouse, this expression of a light leather is at once feminine and joyous. Kelly Calèche gives a nod to two emblematic House references, translating the tactile, olfactory emotions of the perfumer while evoking a skin-deep leather, tanned by caresses and embroidered with fresh petals.

The note that spreads throughout the fragrance and stealthily dominates is a note of fine leather. The fragrance is considered to be youthful because of the fruity and floral traces which gently caress. It is aimed at girls 20-25 years of age, young ladies with already formed taste and style, which can wear Kelly Caleche with joy. It comes as 50ml (1.7 oz.fl.) and 100ml (3.4 oz.fl.) EDT. The bottle is designed by Philippe Mouquet.

The house of Hermes presents a new and very interesting bottle for Kelly Caleche Pure Perfume, perfume extract of Kelly Caleche, in Autumn 2008. This innovative and very charming lock hides notes of sensual and gentle perfume dedicated to Kelly bag with discrete and elegant leather aromas. It is one of the products which made the house of Hermes highly respectable. Kelly Caleche, work of perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, attracts and seduces with its romantic mood and a fresh, luxurious trail of the composition. The small chain that hides this perfume inside its body can be hidden in your hand or purse and kept just for you. Reconstructed aromas of the first fragrance will enchant you with jasmine, mimosa, tuberose, iris, benzoin and discrete leather accords. Ladylike, youthful and aristocratic Kelly Caleche Pure Perfume is available in a bottle shaped like a silver chain in amount of 7,5 ml for 140 Euro, and reffil price is 76 Euro.

got a pre-loved bottle as a blind buy because the price is too good and that's what I can also say for the scent -- too good! I don't think anything can beat Galop when it comes to leather and rose but this is quite pleasant -- less loud and more transparent as per usual by master JCE -- but the leather here is so clean and persistent, a bit masculine even. i don't feel rose as much but more white flowers and grapefruit that's just bright and sparkle. If you're not into leather then you can skip coz this is a leather perfume first and everything else after.

Mystères du Château de Dé

The whole affair has Lamiaceae/Lauraceae tones (which I treasure) with the leather having a character like that in Fahrenheit. Yet it is floral with makeup iris and it is Ellena limpid. 50% yellowy floral 50% leathery base. The floral is a beautiful cool blend. The leathery base notes are clean, fresh from the tannery shiny Box Calf leather as used on the first Kelly bags. Possibly Berenia, Hermès' saddle leather. New! Not soft and buttery or well used or smelling of animals.

Kelly Calèche is not wan as I find the current formulation of Calèche EDT. (My bottles of Calèche and Kelly Calèche both about 4 years old.)

Strange the concept is a Calèche for young women as this Kelly fragrance is genderless, ageless and sexless. It's elegant and peaceful. The only young woman I could imagine being drawn to Kelly Calèche would be chic, serious, and disciplined, perhaps a hard-training ballerina or equestrian, or a future corporate lawyer, or a PhD student in STEM. A fragrance for professionals to wear with an Hermès scarf.

The opening is woody and green. Yes woody. The opener is supposed to be grapefruit but it's so deep and dark that it smells a like the damp sandalwood of a Santal 33 with some green leaves around it. The opening is reminiscent of other frags like Hermès' own Un Jardin Sur Le Nil and Memo's Kedu. It's almost a dead ringer for the former and similar with differences to the latter.

While Kedu's grapefruit is accented with Bergamot and pink pepper, here it's deepened by narcissus. It's deep, dark, concentrated, leafy and serious but also beautifully blended. So beautifully blended that it smells like proper high end perfumery. There's also something minty going on in the background that reminds me a little bit of Balenciaga's Florabotanica.

This sort of masterful blending is why Jean-Claude Ellena remains my favorite perfumer.

I have to mention that like a few frags in Hermès' Jardin line, this will warm up your skin a little. It's nothing to be alarmed by.

After about 10 mins the sandalwood scent disappears and the deep minty grapefruit takes over. At no point do I detect cheap ingredients. Everything smells high quality all the way.

After 45 mins the minty grapefruit open is starting to fade.

> 2 hrs in, the open is still holding on. It's almost gone and turning into a soapy (a very high end soap) scent but it's still refusing to give up the ghost.

> 10 mins later it has completely gone soapy. Drydown is remarkably similar to Florabotanica's 7 hr mark.

> 3 hrs in I started detecting pencil shaving notes which is usually the stand in for "leather" in leather frags geared towards women such as in Bottega Veneta's EDP, Armani's Cuir Amethyste and Goutal's Tenue de Soirée. In fact I think those are pretty much it's competition.

> 4 hrs in, apparently this transitioned to florals somewhere along the line. I just didn't notice. It's so well-blended that the transitions are barely perceptible except for maybe a change in density. The floral heart accord also does a great job mimicking the grapefruit and narcissus top notes which help make the transitions seamless. The downside is it makes the Kelly Caleche seem linear.

Based on how this is progressing, my guestimate for longevity is 5-6hrs but that remains TBD. I think this could be a unisex scent but leans fem.

> 7 hrs in and it's still kicking. It's long been a skin scent and you need your nose up close but the fact it hasn't disappeared into the ether is a marvelous surprise. It's not very often you come across an EDT that outlasts many modern EDPs. Certainly skin chem plays a factor but I'm now thinking this is an 8hr-10hr frag.

Recommend for anyone 25 and up or anyone in their early 20s that want to be taken seriously.

UPDATE: Yup. Just about gone at 10 hr mark.

Did you knew that this is the only fragrance that perfumer Quentin Bish is wearing?? :)

It's funny I automatically thought I would fall for the parfum version of this over the toilette and while I like the parfum version I really love the toilette version the best. Kelly Caleche toilette smells exactly like my childhood farm on a very cool early spring morning. It is early the sun has just risen, the air is cold and damp. I can still see my breath as I breath in and out and start to absorb the beauty of a new day on our farm. Kelly smells of tree mosses, green shoots of plant life springing forth from a newly awakened ground. Mother Nature is working her magic and while I still felt the chill of winter deep in my bones it was really spring, and she has just arrived. I turn my head and to my happy surprise the jonquils and narcissus have just bloomed! Their scent is still very green almost like mint. They are young and quite virginal having just woken from a long winters rest. The smell of green new earth, the plants, the cool dampness of air mingling w/ saddle leather was a favorite smell of mine growing up. Kelly Caleche toilette captures the scent of the dawn of a new spring day on a farm in a bottle. The earth, the plants, the flowers, the leather scent of work gloves and saddles for horses. I am transported back to early spring rides on our horse Pal. I love this perfume beyond words. It has given me back the best part of my childhood memories. Full bottle worthy if you love the smell of cool spring country air and hints of supple leathers.

LaContessina

Kelly Calèche: I had to revisit this one as my memories had faded on this one, I recalled it being sweet and girlish but (unless they reformulated it), it is not.

Kelly is a modern take on the much more important Calèche, (a super classic, posh Chypre); while it retains an austere background, it is more lively, airy, modern and and smells of pink flowers, powedery iris and a leather bag.

Leather here is soft and clean and in no way animalic. I get hints of Bottega Veneta (the first, original one), although between the two I like best BV on Kelly Calèche.

It’s Hermès, and it's Ellena: and you can feel its elegance and also the transparency all Ellena frags have.

Posh and easy to wear, does not shine for longevity or sexiness (on the contrary, I find it very WASP).

Doesn’t make a statement or leave a big impression, which is also good on many occasions when your presence doesn’t have to prevail.

Nice to have but also easy to forget.

(Collection)
I deleted my previous review unfortunately, and also kicked this gem out of my collection a few months ago, which I toothachingly regret.
The most significant memory had settled about the lingering grapefruit note, which had a hard time to blend with the floral components (rose, iris, tuberose), but also elevated the leather note into something appealing and bright. Meanwhile I understand the association about being at a derby (in a good way) and the handbag reference. I need this oddity back into my life!

Update: Bought the EDP version - can’t handle too much violet. Gave it to a friend.

shewasgarbo

Let it be known that I hate the scent of leather — the previous, and only, leather fragrance I owned was by Bvlgari, which I eventually gave my mother after it triggered spellbinding headaches for me. But Kelly Caleche is a different story — the leather here is soft and supple, as I imagined Hermes' bags to feel (I've never owned one). It plays in perfect harmony with the rose, bringing a clear, almost watercolour scent to the picture. Not something I usually associate with leather, but it works perfectly well for me.

brokesta911

Hermes Kelly Caleche (2007) - floral leather - #jeanclaudeellena embroiders floral accords of Rose, Iris, Heady-green Narcissus, Lily of the Valley together with Leather. This creates a light leather accord that is both wearable and interesting. Powdery, Old make-up bag meets suede leather.

Enrium

Kelly Calèche (EDT) is a barely-there, fresh, floral-leather scent, slightly different and quite chic. So far, so typical of Jean-Claude Ellena, the master of olfactory watercolours. KC is the kind of thing that is ideal for daily wear, being discreet and pleasant.

KC opens with a nice citrus accord, fresh and light, joined shortly by florals. While this may sound run-of-the-mill, the unusual floral notes on top of the leather base makes for an intriguing scent. The narcissus is particularly hay-like, and muguet adds a hint of typical green floral goodness. The leather is barely detectable at the opening stage, but emerges steadily as it develops, smooth and clean, reminiscent of a new handbag. Not much of a surprise, given its legendary namesake.

Some powdery rose and iris emerge as it develops, complementing the leather nicely. The floral-leather accord remains, becoming a single-note, more animalic leather skin scent as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate - KC is on the subtle side, but the drydown really lasts.

A feminine-leaning, transeasonal, daytime scent, KC is nonchalant and nicely formed. However, from Hermès, I would choose Galop for a rich floral-leather, or Twilly for an unusual floral over this. 3.5/5.

Laurencane

This smells so much like estee lauder pleasures. I wish the leather was heavier. I like it a lot as it's totally not offensive but I don't find it very animalistic or leathery. The florals really dominate to my nose.

AnlisaC

Hermes does herbal and citrus right! this is a fresh herbal scent and excellent for spring.
This fragrance was not a favorite of mine but grew on me recently. I definitely smell grapefruit and leather right away not getting any floral at all. Very Unisex in my HO. Longevity is very good and I can tell sillage is also very good. Recommended 8/10.

ArcticCrocus

While this is very lovely, I detect no leather, only a refined rose and citrus. It’s strong: one spray to the wrist is still projecting like crazy on me 7 hours later. the definition of unisex despite marketing. As much as I like it and will absolutely wear this, I can’t help but be a little disappointed as I love leather fragrances.

tecfield

This is a chic modern scent; it is very smooth and well blended. It's a nice casual fragrance and very inoffensive. It could use some more power though.

angelina.hz

Sniffing my Kelly Caleche edt from the bottle, it smells so similar to Gucci ii for some reason. It’s a generic scent and there’s nothing unique about this. I can see how this is a work of Jean Ellena but not his best for sure.

nauditaolivia

Very feminine and smells expensive. It lasts all day. Rosy, powdery, lovely. The citrus is just the right amount. Very posh!

karinatfragrantica

I can't put my finger on it but there is something in this combination of rose, citrus and leather which is not so pleasant to my nose. But definitely interesting. Light and sheer as many of Jean-Claude Ellena's compositions.

ingeneuxo

-light leather + floral scent.
-reminiscent of the interior of a freshly-cleaned car that's just been spritzed with a bit of fabric mist. (-)

Forbiddenjade

Utter über classy number.
Modern, distinguished, unlike the mass appealing sugary/fruity concoctions out there - though the grapefruit is noticeable here.

Rose a star, sitting on a soft leather couch. Nearby, a vase of narcissus sits proudly on the fire mantel. It's a great day for a ride, the green hills calling for it.
She'll go, alone, Queen of her unspoilt, beautiful world.

Monsieur Jean-Claude Ellena, you're a Dream Master. Merci!

imimsd12

Another flanker of this version would be nice..and its one of there more feminine parfums ..

Matheya

I've been wearing this more often lately.
Not for a blind buy. Here's why.
It's a very good quality perfume but I'm disapointed because I smell Zero Leather - no leather here ! It must be in the base but the base smells like veriver and Iris to me .
The opening is a blast of citrus !
Then the florals come up and it smells like Violets ( which is the iris, I get that ) and Tuberose.
While waiting for leather my nose detects aromatic woods, the typical Hermes mossy/ vetiver base.
I would say that at this point it starts smelling very unisex ! This can be worn by men for sure. It's a citrusy, woody and Iris scent .

Finaly it dries down to pure Iris. Almost pure violet scent. My jacket smelled like pure Iris the next day.

Thank God it was 20% OFF on sale...
I'll enjoy it in the spring-summer but I thought I was getting a fall leather scent ! :)

Veelovesparfumes

All I could smell was gasoline.

librabeing

Really not for me. Distractingly strong. Grapefruit is too heavy to feel fresh and citrus-y. Would be great as an "intimidating" scent because it's so loud and sharp. But I don't enjoy smelling myself with this on, and that's the real test.

betagm

love at the first time, I get many compliments and I just love it!!!!!

pince_nez

A trick that Jean-Claude Ellena did is to make us think that Kelly Caleche is the modern version, the updated younger version, of the venerable Caleche. That it is aimed primarily for younger women (as the ad says) is a misdirection. Because, honestly, this is unisex.
Which of course verifies that fume-heads are not totally so fixated on "genderizing" scent!

This opens green/vegetal even, but of roses (and not the jammy ones). The effluvia of floral notes is turned down as the mix of lily of the valley, mimosa and tuberose is tempered by iris, giving it a tone of grey or beige, instead of pink. The floral heart is there. But it is fresh and green. Not indolic.

And finally, the leather dry-down. This is suede. Of the finest kind, similar to that of Daim Blond. This leather is not butch. Not harsh or rough. This is leather expressed in a surfeit of elegance. And if you happen to have smelled Rose & Cuir (Frederic Malle), you will sense their uncanny similarities.

This really is unisex, this is apropos for ladies and men of discerning taste and style.

Highly recommended!

eloisegirl

Two spritzes of this and - Instant Lady! I start with citrus, then rose, then finally light leather. I find the Hermes scents are usually a bit light on me, so I also spray clothing as well for extra longevity. This is utterly lovely, and a great scent for eighteen and up. This would smell great on any gender. Substantial bottle, and a great spray with lock top. Bought this grey market for a reasonable price, and would say it makes a great gift for family, friends, your child's favourite teacher etc.

Silver Lining

I never ever review perfumes on first wearing. I don't even make my own notes that early, but this I just have to share, now.
As a disclaimer, I'm a floral girl, with little appreciation for animalic notes in general, and I also don't care for leather specifically.
Today I am wearing Kelly Caleche EDT for the first time and I find it impressive - I get a really well balanced floral mix, and the most refined, fine leather smell. Nothing funky is going on here (and my threshold for funkiness is usually quite low). No, this is gorgeus, and smells of quality. I just keep sniffing my wrist. The citrus notes in the opening were also quite refined.
I do think that targeting 20+ females may be a bit off. I see this scent as appealing mostly to women in their 30s and 40s, but it would actually suit women of all ages, and I also think men could wear this well too.
And to conclude with why I just had to do the review now - I find it highly entertaining that I'm smelling like a luxury women's handbag (which is what I am smelling like), and that, by that, I'm nodding to the actual luxury women's handbag 😂

Callista25

Sheer tuberose powder musk.

davidgfreeburn

although this is stated for women and i am nowhere on the alphabet spectrum, i love this perfume as a man and somehow dont feel its too feminine at all.. maybe its the combination of iris and leather???

fyetan

Smells like a burst of raspberry in the beginning even though it doesn't have it listed. The blend of leather makes it smell like a pine forest as other reviews have said. Projection is medium, would be good for office wear.

AmTheLastUnicrn

I got a small 10ml travel spray to see if I liked it. I wanted to have a leather scent without the leather being too strong and here she is. In fact, I wanted a rose and leather perfume and she is that as well.

Rose and leather and I think the grapefruit kind of gives me an iced tea vibe as well.

I love it. I feel so feminine, but with a slight edge... Some bossy-ness to her. Like, I think this would be a good date perfume for me to tell the man who I am.

77Heather

A reviewer below noted that this fragrance evokes a pine forest in the Sierra Nevadas of California and I couldn't agree more. To me it smells of driving through the dry golden foothills on a hot summer day and then ascending into the cooler pine forest. Everything about it just sings of the glorious outdoors. The leather note reads to me more like standing outside a hay barn in the foothills, like there is an illusion of leather because you know there are saddles in the tack room off to the side. I'm totally head over heels for this one and I can't imagine ever taking it off my list of top 5 fragrances. Absolute beauty.

UnearthlyApothecary

I had a bottle of the EDP awhile ago that I swapped rather quickly. This bottle, I got an excellent deal on a partial via eBay. The only reason why I wanted it was because I love leather but let’s face it, most leather scents are very heavy and geared towards colder weather. It’s heating up fast here in AZ and I wanted a leather I could wear during our very hot summers. I didn’t like the grapefruit in the EDP but I actually find I like it better in this version. I am however keeping in mind that my tastes have changed quite a bit since I swapped my EDP too, I now like citrus and floral notes that I didn’t appreciate at the time. I don’t think this would be near the top of a list of my favorite leather scents of all time, but it would for sure be at the top of a list for hot weather/ summer leathers. I think if I still had a bottle of the EDP here and I could do a side by side comparison, I would still prefer this. Very sunny grapefruit, soft rose, a bit of iris powder and fabulous handbag leather tying it all together. Very glad to own this one again. Moderate silage, will update on longevity.

Tanmoy

It's one of most adorable scent to me from Hermes along side terre d'hermes, jour d'hermes, belami vetiver but in a different genre.
Being a man I love this on me and also on my wife equally.
The blend is just right, superb leather (it smells slightly like actual skin of goat/lamb which I didn't come across in many perfumes so far) , it's animalic only because of that note which is intriguing and backbone of the fragrance as it is not animalic tone which Kouros or Antaeus has at the same time it is light and bright not thick which makes it versatile for all weather.
A refined scent with character and soury-flowery combo which lies on the leather is absolutely gorgeous.
Only downside is less projection but if you can go little heavy on the spray you will see the magic (try on clothes and skin combo)

goldiloks

I'm discovering leathers at the moment, so this one was recommended to me to try, so I ordered a sample. I'm still getting to know it, so apologies for my basic description! This stuff smells posh and elegant! Not at all me, as I'm a Bvlgari Black and Shalimar EDP kind of girl (hell, I even pinch my BF's Fahrenheit), but it's good to explore all nuances of a perfume family. I can smell suede, smooth almost oily, and roses. The picture this conjures up in my mind soft leather gloves, with an equally lovely expensive leather handbag, a vase of red roses on a perfectly laid restaurant table, with a pot of chamomile tea (finest china, of course!). Maybe half a grapefruit waiting to be eaten, with some classical music playing quietly in the background. Feminine, elegant, sophisticated.

fragaholic79

This perfume is an ode to the famous Hermes "Kelly" bag which was designed by Hermes for the legendary actress and Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly.
Jean Claude Ellena has spun his magic yet again by intermingling woody citrus with florals and leather. And the result is wonderfully intoxicating. A rosy, powdery yet sophisticated leather fragrance where LEATHER is the prominent note. A delight to wear outdoors on crisp autumn days.

behzad4ever

GREAT ELLENA

diatosin

I have to agree with Jezebelle, it really does smell of chamomile, but I think it's a trick, an illusion where you combine more ingredients to give you something else. The leather is dry, so is chamomile, freshen it up a bit and there you have it, magic!

Anyway, about the scent, pretty basic leather, very simplistic, natural smelling, crisp, best worn outside or for some activities in nature. I don't feel any rose, and without looking at the notes, I crave rose in it, so I'll wear it layered with rosy, peony scents, it is gorgeous like that! I believe it goes amazingly with any pink juice, it gives depth to simple, everyday florals.

glam-parfumista

It is a voluptuous blend of high quality notes. This exquisite fragrance opens with soft, vibrant notes of some sort of citruses, elegant rose followed by sophisticated leather! It smells posh, classy-modern and not as generic as the new releases from other houses. The most complimented and asked-after scent I own.

tittertat

This could almost be a * love* if not for a few things...to me its gourmand citrus like a fruit salad and mimosa drink, then rose, then powdery and slight hint of animalic. I dont get leather particularly more clean skin or animal fur. It is slightly powdery. The only thing i dont like is the very last stage of the dry down( musk which reminds me of Tommy Girl) but other than that its pretty good.
Oh and I wish it lasted in the initial stages longer it does fade after about 3 hours.

Coquita

I've been wearing this as my office scent for the last couple of weeks and even if I wasn't too convinced I liked it at the beginning, I do now. The fragrance opens as leather with grapefruit undertones, which makes it a bit sharp, but progressively loses the citrusy note as it grows rosier and greener. This phase is by far the best: the leather note smells like high-end leather (as someone pointed out, it smells like horse-riding chairs). To me, this scent brings back memories of me and my dad horse riding, and how the dry grass mixed with the animalic and leather scent to represent freedom and lightheartedness. For some, this might sound gross or very masculine but, to me, it smells like a confident, free-spirited woman. The late dry-down is a soapy floral bouquet which loses the leather note; it's still pleasant, but not as good as what comes before. The sillage is office-friendly, but I can constantly smell it while wearing two spritzes on my neck. The only downside is the short-lasting power: about 4h on me.

7/10

Phantomias

Kelly edt is drop dead gorgeous! A feminine rosy leather scent, classy Kelly is an unusual perfume, but oh so beautiful. I picture a much loved leather jacket that has taken on the perfume of its wearer.
While K. is labeled a womens perfume, men can wear this too. There's nothing sweet or frilly in this leather rose combo, just beautiful perfume.
Sillage and lasting power aren't great, this is almost a skin scent, making K. work safe. I imagine this fragrance is a compliment getter, it's so unusual and yet lovely.

Forbiddenjade

I had both, and although they are equally nice I do prefer the EDT to the EDP.

In the latter the rose and violet and mimosa notes are more prominent, the powdery finish they gift the leather with is therefore heavier. And I don't like much rose in my perfumes, it got me bored to death in scents.

In the EDT the grapefruit is a constant presence throughout to drydown, which makes the fragrance less evening scent, and more day wear. Also, the leather is subtler though persistent. For me a definite better combo, much more uplifting and delicate.

Kelly is uber classy, sophisticated and the epitome of grace. I absolutely love the EDT.
Longevity and sillage are worth every penny for this summery winner. Not a winter scent, it doesn't perform as well in cold or wet climates.

Violet_Rose

The EDT is fresh, tart grapefruit, with a touch of leather, rose and some other flowers and their stems and leaves.

It smells like the outdoors, in Spring and Summer, with fresh wild flowers. A touch of powder and a sophisticated, mild smelling leather, lends this to be a beautiful scent for me to wear after freshening up for bed.

I'm a happy owner of a bottle of EDT and am glad I chose this to wear from my bulging collection tonight. Sweet dreams.

Dorange Sense

A witty refresher.

EDT. A very Ellena citrus, I think of a violine tone. High, elongaded. With an impeccable leather, maybe a 3D printer made it. This scent is almost abstract.

What we are left with is the EDP.
A vanilla rose Kelly that I cannot take seriously.

Dorange Sense

@chicken:
I very much feel for you and I don't hope that happens
to me as well. Just bought my 100ml EDT at the hermès counter but could not open the box yet, now I'm on holidays hoping for the EDT waiting for me at home… I agree The EDT is so much better that the EDP, it's a complete different scent.

The Posh Outdoors

Kelly Caleche is another neglected bottle, one that, on the occasions that I wear her, I feel like she should be moved into my top 10 rotation. She should. I just have so much on my shelf, lol:)

One thing I really love is the citrus leather combination. It's almost a little shrill--The Grapefruit is white, lush, bitter, and woody. Unlike many citrus notes that vaporize with the top notes, in Kelly they hang on my skin for hours. And though it's not listed in the notes, Kelly is VERY green. There's a green note that is the combination of green tea and pine boughs. The leather is always present, and I've not smelled a leather like this--It's floral, and almost airy smelling. Add a bit of earthy iris and an almost mossy drydown to the and there you go.

KC is outdoor smelling because of the green notes, the woody but airy leather that reminds me of cool sunny breezy days in a field, and the hint of spring flowers. And the long lasting grapefruit notes...Lovely combination, and wears so well! Good lasting power and projection, too.

I just went to Hermes boutique, got 100ml of EDT and when I got home I opened the box and found a bottle of EDP inside ?!?!?!?! I’m puzzled! The box is EDT bit I most definitely have EDP inside lol. I was shocked seeing the padlock. Has it happened to anyone else?
I love EDT so much more :(

moonbeams 1

Beautiful edt. Refreshing citrus, rosy-floral, soap, and leather. Boyfriend and stranger approved. Smells best on freshly-showered skin.

galinaou

This is stunning! I first bought the EDP and enjoyed it immensely, the non-sweet tuberose is rather prominent in that one to my nose. Then, a friend got the EDT as a gift and did not like it, so she gave it to me. Oh, how I love this!! To me, it is a crisper, starker, more crystalline version of the EDP. It has a bite to it similar to Earl Grey tea.. A very ethereal, sparkling scent. For me personally, it is also very nostalgic. It reminds me of my late mother, when I was a child, a crisp sunny September day, she is wearing her suede jacket and its velvety plush scent is interwoven with her Chamade perfume. We are on a walk at the park, cool September breeze brings about wafts of the yellowing leaves and the sky is electric blue. This scent is a photorealistic impression of that memory. I love it!

This scent is for exceptionally posh girls. Girls who grew up in the countryside, then went to super-expensive all-girls boarding schools, where they had to wear blazers with school logo and skirts, except on weekends when they played hockey and wore polo shirts and shorts. These girls are not naughty, simply because there aren’t any boys around, but also because they want to save themselves for the right guy. I imagine that these girls would wear something like Kelly Caleche - a scent that’s very posh, almost asexual, certainly standoffish and screams ‘old money’!
This scent consists of soft leather, rose and violet, and some lemon zest in the beginning, and basically that’s it. It is soft but long lasting. Obviously I’m *not* that posh girl described above, so this fragrance is definitely not for me.

dante11

too much citrus until the drydown-that is definitely not my favorite smell-leather and citrus-
but once it hits the dryown-it is oddly pleasing-not my favorite-i think i will have to be in the mood to wear it....i was hoping that once i got used to it the strange note i get from valentino donna would disappear-but no such luck-i think i am always going to be particular about leather/suede notes....
i do like this for layering though-it gives some of the white florals i have some depth.....

Mirella86

This starts very citrusy, like a lot of Hermes perfumes - this is the way I recognize the work of Jean Claude Ellena anyway. So you will find the Hermes DNA in it, however, later it changes into the leathery powdery fragrance that is discreet, yet feminine and elegant. It tends to last a long time on my skin, same as Jour d'Hermes or the Merveilles group.

fyrewoman

My carded edt sample comes off to smell like pickles from the beginning and never seems to go away. It becomes a mixture of pickles and hyde with some mimosa fluttering around in the background. I cannot figure out why this is.

Much different than the edp, which I fell in love with and ended up purchasing after testing that one. The edp starts out with a gorgeous leather note.

My experience makes me wonder if my edt manufacturer's sample went bad. Maybe that pickle note I'm getting is the grapefuit.

Someone mentioned that people who can't appreciate this one simply don't understand it. I would disagree as it's all about the taste of any individual. Therefore there's no reason to try to put people down only because of having a different taste or a need to boost one's ego.

To me after the spray I get very prominent and specific leather note. The drydown brings rose to accompany it. I'm a fan of leather smell, but I don't enjoy this one at all. I prefer more of a raw leather impression. Here the leather is very delicate and soft. In a combination with rose this doesn't work for me at all.

I believe it has some fans and quite honestly, it is a unique fragrance. But I'm definitely not a fan.

yantestrs

First spray leather. Second spray powdery pale floral. Third spray sour floral. Weird.

karrykins

So many nasty reviews - its enough to put a normal person off - fortunately ,I am not "normal" - I spend my life around horses and very, very expensive leather that many of the reviewers on here could never hope to afford .

I love this , its very saddle soap and leather and animalic - its unisex , its timeless - it powders down to a wonderfully soft rose and violets on leather .

It doesn't have the initial punch of the aldehydic Caleche , which I adore , but its the dry down that its to me - can be almost melancholic - its winter to Caleche's spring .

Ignore the negative reviews - these people dont understand the fragrance properly - this is nostalgia - and if, like me , you earn your living from horses , you will get this scent immediately .

cocolover56

This is a good example of new perfumes trying to imitate the scents of the 80s in the way that no real note is totally distinguishable from the others... and just creating a sad mess.

LotV, powder, leather and rose. and pino clean. The scent of a wealthy woman who still shops at the cheap supermarkets that sell low quality meat and fresh produce. Kind of beautiful, kind of revolting. Not for me. Hermes didn't drop the ball here, but I won't be catching it.

Sapienta

Cucumber and watermelon in a leathery haze. it took me 24 hours to get it out of my wrist. Like a wrath of Gods.. made me sick and depressed!

Nicole5678

I don't get any leather. Just grapefruit soapy soap. I love caleche, but this one doesn't do much for me unfortunately.

When I concentrate on smelling leather here I understand that it's a very good approximation of a non-sweet leather scent. But when I relax and then get a whiff without trying to sniff it, I am transported to a dry pine forest in the summer. Something about the way the crisp, zesty grapefruit note mingles in smells just like the campground where my family spent so many summer vacations.
That said, I see "pine forest" is not a popular opinion, but our senses do what they do. Left on autopilot, that's how this translates in my brain! While I don't necessarily get "rose" there is a slight floral lilt at times adding feminity.
Dinkey Creek had wildflowers, meandering streams, a pine-needle floor and occasional wood smoke from campfires. This association makes Kelly Caleche a nostalgic gift to my senses and takes me back to a time and place that was wonderful.
Do I always want to smell of this? Maybe not, but it is a fun, comforting ride to go on sometimes. All of these accords are subtle, unobnoxious and seem so natural. Now that's a fantastic fragrance!!

Catty

I wrote some Reviews already here, but today I just sprayed over the last Drops of it, which were still in the bottle...wow lovely...this leathery-spicy rose is full of personality, modern, very chic, fresh and urban.

Kelly Caleche Hermes EDT opens with the best of the grapefruits. Generally I don't like citruses; orange, lemon, bergamot, grapefruit etc, they all seem easy to me, generic. Sometimes I just plain hate it right way when companies choose the easy way of creating a fresh perfume for women by using just citruses, or just dominantly citrusy perfumes which are so generic, all almost identical.

Not in this case. Hermes makes the best citrus full stop. Tom Ford as well. They made me like the citrusy notes much more. So if you are totally bored by the typical citrus thingies (e.g Chanel makes typical citrusy openings and a lot of other mainstreams like D&G Light Blue, which I hate) do give Kelly Caleche a shot. It's a crisp, truly lemony grapefruit, sour, bitter and minty, you just can't go more bitter than this...Grapefruit stays.

Then you have leather. Ladie's leather handbag. Seamless blend, you won't even notice when leather settles. And let's not forget about rose, that plays a major role in here. Sets powdery and leathery, with the grapefruit behind. Hence the lady leather handbag feel.

Hermes leaves me speechless again, not really because of the creativity; well, it's just citrus, rose and leather, but because of the quality. It smells expensive, realistic, refined. Multilayered and rich in scent. Wafts beautifully and the more I smell it the more intoxicated I get.
A yes from me

Bigsly

A soft fruity/floral leather than is nicely done. Apparently, it wasn't meant to be some sort of "in your face" niche type of scent, and that's fine with me, since I already have a few strong leather fragrances. I only used one spray to the chest, so that may be part of the impression. I look forward to trying it again, when I'll use two full sprays.

Soofiya

Hermes kelly caleche edt isn't as intresting as it's notes suggest on me.rose is the most dominant note,a very very soapy rose and there's a very very mild hint of watery citrus-floral(mostly mimosa)in the background.leather and iris are too mellow to have a big role in it
It doesn't smell bad.it smells like a very clean skin washed with a rose soap but it's not something I'd like to buy
I think it's wearable year round.longevity is very good, +6 hours but sillage is soft to moderate
❤❤

cedar_lea

I sadly don't get any of the leather, rose, or tuberose.

What I do get is a lot of lily of the valley and mimosa with a piney-geranium. The geranium is nice but the lily of the valley is far too delicate and soapy for me to enjoy wearing.

Not my style.

turtle91

I feel like puking when I smell this because the top notes smell like the chinese medicine I'm taking. The leather is very masculine. It smells like real animal parts are used in this perfume.

on the noze

My mother told me the value of keeping quiet when there's nothing good to say.
What a weird perfume.
I get a whole lot of mint or menthol like another reader noticed.(ugh) in opening.
It's developing into a strong leathery scent
I'm holding my breath..... in hope...... come on Kelly......
be lovely.
It's not bad but not great either. Bit of a disappointment. Sorry guys.
You'll notice most reviews are less than positive. It's not just me. This is not how many people would want to smell. It's bloody awful. Sorry mum, I also know the value of honesty and there is a place for it and that's right here! A place for opinions, good OR bad. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Nikkafragrance

It's such a complex scent. The first two minutes reminded me of Womanity for some reason. After three hours the scent is rich in leather, powder and something reminds me of tobacco. I can smell iris, grapefruit and narcissus. I don't understand why people say that it smells like a stable. The first thing that comes to my mind when I sniff Kelly Caleche is a box of expensive cigarettes. Not so easy to wear, but a very original and well-blended perfume.

proteamundii

More than one person can tell you how much I love leather. I love handling it, wearing it, and especially smelling it. Frankly, I even get a little turned on by the scent. It was one of the reasons I loved my much-mourned Cerruti Image Woman. I also love rose, the freshness and sweetness of it. So I had to jump at this one.

Others before me have covered the scent palette much better than I can. What I can say is that this is an odd beast. The leather is definitely a "rough" leather, miles away from fine kidskin gloves or a lambskin blazer. It's more like Frye boots and cowhide work jacket, nearly salty in its pungency. This is what I smell when I put my nose to my wrist and sniff. No grapefruit, no roses. Just raw leather, almost akin to a rawhide chew toy.

But the magic really happens in the sillage. Then the fragrance becomes a heavenly aura around me, blending the salty leather with the sweet roses and fresh grapefruit. It hovers, so that when I move and catch a whiff I am again overcome by how this contradiction works so well. For this reason, I can see myself wearing it especially when I work out - that ever-moving aura with breaths of frustratingly delicious fragrance. Nothing will replace my Image, but this has taken a bit of the edge off the pain.

takeasniff

Us humans are hilarious. Why would we spend money to smell like a horses arse? Or why would you want to smell like a handbag? But we keep sniffing it just goes to show secretly the natural things like leather, hay, grass, roses and horses stables seem to be almost like aromatherapy you know it's weird but you just like to smell it. I believe this one borders on disgusting but manages to be annoyingly addictive. I spray it when i am riffling through perfumes i havent worn for a while and think NOPE! Horse's arse but if i go away to do something and come back in the room i think what is that gorgeous smell just so comforting. I think this is what mercedes were trying to achieve with their perfume which i also have. I work with cars we see a lot of mercs and they did capture the new car smell well once again why you would want to smell like a car? But we do :) this lasts very well on me and i would love to try the edp. Bottle is nice and pink liquid a nice touch very individual there should be a category just for wanting to smell like new car, handbags and horse stables. Its weird but i always love the smell of the car interiors never thought to have it as a perfume because thats just weird but it is addictive once you have a couple of this style of perfume you start wanting more and the celebrity cupcake things become something you just dont find interesting anymore even annoying at times as they dont have the calming effect this one has they tend to sit on your skin, this one i find mixes with my chemistry and accompanies me where as celebrity perfumes or overly sweet or floral perfumes tend to throw a leash on me and drag me around by the end of the day i just fantasize about a good scrub in the shower, this one is almost a shame to have to wash it off. Would love to have the body wash then my life would be complete. :) :)

Remind me of a new BMW
Leather in this perfume very nice

Taliera

I like Kelly Caleche EDT. But I love the EDP. For me, there is something vegetal and sharp in the Eau de Toilette... when I sniff harder, I'm thinking... Menthol? Rosemary? Lavender? What the hell is it? Looking at these notes I can only guess it is the Narcissus. I can detect grapefruit, but that's not what I'm referring to. The rest of the fragrance is very interesting and pleasant. As usual, Jean Claude Ellena has worked his "less is more" magic and come up with a watercolourist's impression of a scene... a garden, heavy with flowers, slightly muddied by all the rain - but there's a fine horse in the background, and some very well dressed people looking at me. It's true, the dry-down is what is nicest about this perfume. But for the opening I prefer the Eau de Parfum - it's warmer, more well-rounded, and still very interesting.

Wathgwen

No rose in this for me, but it's kind of my reference leather. Very dry, not sweet, and clean. Classy and a huge step away from fruity floral gourmands. The citrus/green opening is also rather addictive.

Imagine cleaning a saddlebag with a citrusy, soapy cleanser. It's incredibly on-point in its representation of its main notes, and you would swear you'd been transported to a leather goods store upon spraying it.

Longevity is not great- up to 5 hours under the best circumstances. It's like it almost doesn't have base notes, because it's eventually just gone except for a whisper of leather left.

soili

Unfortunately it gave me headache. I bought it after sampling it once and my initial impression was that of dusty leather-bound books and I loved that. Something about it however quite literally makes my head go fuzzy and my stomach queasy. I don't normally get that reaction to perfume.

Maybe it's linked to the adverse reaction I had, but I also found it really strong. It would cling to clothing, even if I put it on hours after spraying perfume.

Still though, quite possibly the most remarkable scent I've encountered so far. I understand the polarizing reviews.

Kai'elle

I hate this perfume...yet I have used an entire bottle and plan on getting another...

Leather, leather, leather, hint of rose, leather and....more leather. That is the whole show for me :(

BUT....and its an awesome one...

Layer this baby with a scent that you feel needs to be 'dirtied up' a bit...and Oh My Lord Father!

I rediscovered all my 'meh' bottles and samples :)

Its in my hate list as a scent on its own...but I doubt I will ever be without it.

Oriane

A particular fragrance, both familiar and strange, it is a dynamic and unisex interpretation of luxury.

On my skin, the vetiver and leather notes create some kind of sophisticated dryness. The rose and narcissus give a more sensual dimension to this perfume, but they do not last long. One prominent element of the sillage is the mint, a scent I am used to sniffing in fragrances made for men.

A play on codes that is welcoming if you feel like wearing a bold and refreshing perfume.

Nymphs

This is the scent of a brand new leather couch, zesty pink grapefruit and a very subtle hint of rose. Kelly Caleche has a definite masculine vibe that is reminiscent of Angel Eau de Toilette (which I dislike), but this is quite beautiful and definitely unisex. I think this fragrance is perfect for warmer weather!

Bstefcorbin

If this is leather; its little white baby booties, or white kid opera gloves. Very soft- diaphanous powdery cloud. Pleasant, but not my cup of tea.

Jernê Knowles

As loving and faithful follower of Ellena and well as all of your creations perfumísticas I go, before talking about Kelly Calèche in its Eau de Toilette version, ripping silk and hit it a lot of confetti on it, I'm not seeing! Bubbly, supreme, intense, fine, elegant, masterful, as, balanced, fair, accurate, grand, bright, educated, unprecedented, luxurious, engaging, magical, momentous, crucial, demanding, marvelous, marvelous, magnificent, sublime, deep , generous, attractive and highly necessary for those who enjoy a perfume to the line of haute couture! Definitely use Kelly Calèche Eau de Toilette is to feel with the best clothes, with the best clock in the best car, the best case and wearing the best clothes and having the best shoes on the feet. Its output is a citrus ornamentation in indole flowery scenery, but between combinations so subtle and distinct from each other that nothing compares exclusivity it reaches this stage, you can feel good pronounced Lily of the Valley as a decorating jug and perfuming such setting, excellent his departure. His "dry down" common nothing is responsible for the few spectators still left him, since the floral blend of dried roses and mimosa in its mentholated as there is joint stout Tuberose, present a very unusual aroma reminiscent advertising perfume, a woman with very tight clothes holding a leather whip in hand and a Kelly Calèche tied to point harness, ie, an unexpected and dominant aroma. Finally he becomes powdery by the presence of the iris that gives you fine makeup shades, and the leather that reveals recalling the luxury car interior, has no other, is the leather that Ellena uses in his creations and any other Maison can try to imitate him. A perfume absurd good fixing, and making remarkable trace in the first 5 h, thereafter becoming closer shave, but strong. Long live Jean-Claude Ellena for such a beautiful creation!

Word of the day: free... (day 66)

HeavyBeatsUK

I find this to be a very quiet perfume on me. It smells nice and leathery but I prefer Valentino's Donna to this even though that one is quiet too.

Chelsea1605

I can't smell the leather in this at all. To me it smells like a bag of veg when it's starting to get all sweaty. Not good :(

aqua76239

I wrote a review for this one long time ago when I first smelled it. btw I HATED original and thought it was awful. I was surprised to see that this one was rather nice floral with very distinctive leather note.

So lately I been looking for a floral to break up my sweet gourmand collection and I tried it again. I don't get what happened but I cant smell leather at all. Where is it? it smells now like some rather ordinary rose citrusy floral, not all that unique. I even got a sample of that from Hermes store-nope, no leather. Did they reformulated it??
Either that or my nose is off today. But something aren't right
Update:
my nose got rested and I sniffed it again. now I do smell the leather note and its rather nice. Still for some reason I recall it being lot more loud and distinctive. Oh well.

pablOSO

smells like rotten vegetables , saddle soap and humidity..,

JUST NO.

PerfumeEmpress

Read all the reviews that rhapsodize about this scent and you'll get what I expected this scent to be. Read Maki's, luberjack's, and sheshe's reviews and you get the scent I got. :(:(:(

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. I gave hubby a list of scents for him to choose for my Christmas gift. This was on it and this is one of two he picked (the other is Hypnotic Poison, which I adore). I was expecting elegant, expensive leather, a la Bottega Veneta, Jolie Madame, etc. Instead, I got that awful smell of raw, dead meat you get when you go into a butcher's shop. There is a hint of rose and violets, as if those poor flowers were desperately vying for attention. But they get rudely pushed back by the animalic smell of butcher's shop.

Since I love Hermes I decided to give it another chance. I sprayed it on a tissue, instead of on my skin, and alas! I got the same nauseating smell. I wanted to weep I must admit I had a similar experience with Un Jardin Apres la Mousson, which to me smelled like rotten vegetables and wet, trampled grass). Hubby tried to return it but the place he got it from does not accept returns, curse them. So I'm stuck with a big bottle of Eau de Tannery. Bummer!

Having said all of the above, if anyone on whom this scent works is interested in a swap, let me know. Mind you, it's a big 100ml bottle of EDP, which I sprayed only twice and sparingly. So I think it's only fair to tell you that I am not interested in swapping it for samples or any Victoria Secret kind of scent. Unless you have something in the same category or price range (take a look at my I Want list) but that does not work for you, I am not interested.

Cookietookie215

I have a sample of this one and I have to say its very nice. Crisp florals, a ting fresh of citrus and lights woods. This perfume is something I would wear when I need a boost of energy; its perfect to get your day started. It has this amazing youthful yet sophisticated aura. I can imagine Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City wearing this. It smells like something from the fashion world (dont ask why) but I just think FASHION and DESIGNER when I smell it. Im also going to test out the EDP to see which one I like the most. 'Kelly' is definately on my wish/want list for sure. :)
Additional comment:
To my nose it smells very similar to Gucci II.

sweethon

i imagine it worn by men mmmmmmmmmm not women!,so sensual and leathery

cake n' cuddles

I did not expect to like kelly since leather and I are not usually friends. However I found kelly to be quite likeable, could almost smell the popularity in the first spritz. This is powdery, warm, spicy, and dry to me. It has a certain elegance. I am reminded of perles de lalique I smelt last year.
This fragrance isn't really making me leap to the store, but maybe someday when I'm older it could make a decent work fragrance. I don't feel like it really fits my personality right now.

mrsg34

mmmmm leather :) I read some reviews that could have put me off this little beauty but I had ordered it without testing online as I do with most of my perfume purchases. I sprayed and got the most intriguing aroma developing on my wrists, I thought I could smell celery in there which sounds weird I know but that didn't last long and it settled to a lovely, soft, suedey leather smell, love it :)

Rux2589

Intriguing. Usually, I find that the smell of a Hermes perfume depends heavily on the chemistry of the person wearing it, and Kelly Caleche is no exception.

The first thing I got after spraying was an almost neutral, but slightly unpleasant smell - although I was able to imagine what wonders it could do on another person's skin. After a while, the smell transformed and became quite flattering. I'm getting leather and violet out of it, mostly.

I can't picture myself wearing this with anything other than leather on a Autumn day. The silage doesn't seem strong, although I'm a fool for soft perfumes so this just makes it better. Wouldn't wear it often, but I like it a lot.

ellina1984

I have been on a Jean Claude Ellena kick lately, after reading "the perfect scnet", and have been testing everything I can find. SO, today it was Kelly Caleche EDT. I have to say the jus in the tester was yellow, so probably a bit aged, but it was fine (not turned or off).

The top notes I was not crazy about. Bitterish grapefruit, fresh but not zappy. Then, after a few minutes, a beautiful leather, in a bouquet of florals, which I could not discern, and that didn't smell too floral (anyone understand this?), which is a good thing, because I'm not into flowers. At all.

So, I cannot contribute much else in terms of notes. This scent, however, I have come to love. It is strong and structured, but still elegant somehow. "Opinionated" is the word that comes to mind. Not common, not insipid. Instead, gorgeously refined and different. Thank you, Jean Claude Ellena. I'm sure you worked hard, but the result makes me happy. :)

UPDATE: I swapped this away. I see it as a work of art, but the rose became too much for me - not a rose person, here.

Angelica 000

Sadly I am twice the age of the targeted consumer for this one.How crazy are these "age" restrictions? I was wearing Shalimar in my 20s, & have no problem loving this one at 60! Enough about me...this is a distinct & lovely perfume, the rose sharply undercut by leather, reducing the sweetness & adding an illusive "expensive" note.Living inside an Hermes handbag is very appealing.

WildDove

Fresh-cut woods, leather, orange, with beautiful rose on top -- light and airy with a sophisticated vibe. When I got my 2nd bottle, I don't think it had aged enough, but I put it away for a couple of years and it came into its own like I remember. Not sure what was going on there? I view Kelly Caleche as a women's version of Terre d' Hermes.

Lilii

I tested it today in a hot day,it smells woody, complicated and classy. Nice for colder weather.
I like the house of Hermes, it has quality perfumes, they are longlasting and unique. but most of them are a little too woody and heavy for my taste especially because I live in a country where the weather is very warm 9 months of the year. So I am more in to un jardin sur le... line.

lotus and jasmine

I received a sample of the vintage edt from the most thoughtful and generous nathalie_soleil- thank you so much!

To my nose Kelly Caleche opens with soft grapefriut, a touch of leather, and floral iris. This quickly transitions to what I think is the heart phase, where I only get white musk. In the dry down I get increasingly strong white musk. Soap, soap, soap, and the opening was so promising!

I have now tried quite a few Hermes scents, and with one exception, they are white musk bombs on my skin. I know it's a common fixative, but it seems strange that a house like Hermes would always use the same fixative in their scents. I begin to think that this house is simply not for me.

RayF

Ok so...This is a really boring and unbearable scent for me. It is so leathery that makes me dizzy and uncomforatble. My skin can't deliver the leather notes properly;all I smell are raw animal organs on my wrist after 30 min.

dioraddictfan

I really like this, it's a beautiful scent, soft and leathery. I pick up on the iris in it (I think that's what I smell). Very safe. I prefer the EDT, which is not as floral as the EDP.

pauroj

kelly caleche smells like the inside of an expensive leather bag with some roses thrown in for good measure, is nice , is very clean and innofensive, it smells expensive the bottle is great , but for a great leather go to bottega venetta

woodlandwalk

I sniffed this on a test strip a few months ago and thought - hmm too much grapefruit. I wasn't keen on Sur le Nil by Hermes and thought it might go too much in that direction.

But! Seeing that it was available on Ebay for a song, and I fancied something fresh and elegant for spring/summer, I bought 50mls of the EDT and I'm enjoying it very much.

I sprayed it on when it arrived and immediately said 'nice', then 'Oh!Very nice!'

Though I'm a tad sensitive to grapefruit (and the opening is quite bracing) this is a very transparent grapefruit in the classic Jean Claude Elena style, but it's matched with a soft suede note, I immediately envisage blonde suede - not so much worn leather and definitely not the birch tar minimalism of Cuir de Russie's leather.

Also, this suede note, even though it's mildly animalic, is by no means a synthetic sort of smell, as some suedey perfumes are. It has a sort of biscuit-like scent, mildly buttery.(actually that's probably the narcisuss which often smells a little buttery to me)

The perfume as a whole reminds me of suede-toned eau de cologne, which in turn reminds me of travel and adventures.

So if you can picture yourself on a morning flight to somewhere exotic, wearing your coolest trench coat, and loveliest leather bag, sipping a small glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit, you've got it. But there's also a note that seems quite tea-like to me - dusty/tanin-like. I also get echoes of Au The Vert, but Kelly Caleche has more 'body' I'd say

I'm not really noticing rose/tuberose/lily of the valley, but they're obviously all blending together to give an elegant impression. Definitely unisex, as elegant cologne style perfumes tend to be.

This is one I'm going to enjoy this summer. I can absolutely see why other people here describe it as 'signature worthy' -you can't go wrong with a perfume like this and it'll be a welcome alternative to my other easy-to-wear daytime favourite, Infusion d'Iris.

A champagne-like perfume, uplifting elegance!
Sillage and longevity seem moderate to me

hissyknit

If sophistication had a scent, it would be this one. Lots of layers and each note comes out on top of the previous one enhancing it as it goes.

The initial minute of the leather is funny. It's not my usual taste but I like it. Then the rose kicks in which softens the leather.

As I learn more about scents, I find myself reaching for Hermes more and more.

I sprayed it on at 6:30 a.m. and now eleven hours later, I still smell a faint whiff of it.

fabianabruna

I have one 100ml new to swap! In Canada! Contact me, turn out I have a problem with leather note! Unfortunatly!!

EKL71

I´m in love with it! When I tried it at first I did not like it, but 10 minutes later I regretted not buying it. The smell was mesmerizing! The next time I found it I bought it. It is fresh, not to heavy but with a hint of allure. Lovely flower notes! A subtle scent, insted of the overwhelming flowerscents that is so freqent on the market right now.

Deppaholic

I wore this the other day, just to wear for a change, although I'm not crazy about it on me, but it's doable. Well, the oddest thing. My daughter said "Mom, that smells like you". Go figure. I don't even care for it that much on me. If you read my review below. That is all.

Filomena

This is a soft leather fragrance. It really makes me think of women of style whose favourite hobby is equitation. I smell hay, grapefruit, flowers and off course leather.

OMFG OMG OMG. I. JUST. CAN'T. A few days ago I bought a used 50ml bottle of KC. Today I picked it up, sprayed some on the back of my hand (where I usually do the general testing for longevity and development on top notes) and all that laid there was a powdery mixture of rose and grapefruit. Thus progressed to a hay-like floral scent and I felt deranged. Gladly I didn't pay much for it, I thought to myself, checked out the batch code to see If it was fake, because it has a notorious discoloration (it's Yellow) so yeah, bam, it's from 2007. I 'm surprised how many people' s trash May be other's treasure. So I gave it another shot, on my left hand laid the already dried KC, while on the right one I spritzed some. Again the top notes smell like expensive makeup, good but not awe inducing as other powdery perfumes. And then I sniffed my left hand and HOLY SMOKES it did smell like a lamb skin mixed with hay and flowers. I'd say kelly caleche is the vivid representation of a mink coat, it smells more like fur than leather to be honest. Very pretty and polite, longevity is astounding with sillage close to skin. I understand the many dislikes, for some this may not smell very "modern" to many, but it's right there with Chanel N 19 Poudre. It's a modern interpretation of something from another era, and it's very well done. This is my first Hermès perfume and my first Jean Claude Ellena, and so far, I'm not disappointed at all. I've gone to and fro with the jardins but never managed to smell any (I chickened out at the last second at the counter, leaving like a weirdo). Now I feel like I'm ready to give JCE and his creations another chance. And yes, I'm still on a powder binge. Non stop apparently.
ETa: The top notes seem to have inspired the noses behind *cough* Balenciaga's Florabotanica. AHEM.

I am neither into leather nor roses. But i fell in love with this scent. What a dilemma! This smells quality from top to toe. Like all other Hermes scents. Well done indeed.

schamberae

oooooh...leather..leather and leather.. really smells like my brand new coach leather bag. warm and comforting. smells like old books covered in dust in an old library.. amazing. travelled me back to the 20th century.. it's so dry and smooth on your nose. the milky rose is yummy

Amanaiara

What a lovely fragrance! Kelly Caleche is a perfect scent for the winter we get in my so very tropical town.
In my skin the roses are prominent, I can also smell leather and grapefruit and some powderiness, I guess it's the iris. The projection is moderate, so this perfume can be easily worn in the office in winter and cold days in fall, as it's very discreet and sophisticated.

Deppaholic

It's memorable enough. It's pretty enough. I get the rose and leather mixed in there. For me it's just not"old worldly" enough. I need some powder, some lipstick, some civet or something else. I can almost swear my cousin used to wear this, because this is my first time trying this, and it took my mind right to her. If she didn't wear this, then she should. Somebody in the immediate family wore this years ago. One of the aunts or cousins, I'm sure of it. Perhaps the reason I'm not crazy for it. Will let it rest and try it again another day. I bet my mother would have loved this, but she didn't ever wear this, had to be one of the richer aunties in the family. Perhaps it will grow on me, but I highly doubt it. Will update when tried again.

It just hit me. This is what I expect Lauren Bacall to smell like. That era. that first movie with Bogart. How she was so nervous she had her head bowed down so her chin would rest on her chest, so as not to shake. Her beauty, her model figure, her eyes peering up at you. Yep, this fragrance is what I expect made Bogie fall in love with her, other than the fact that she was stunning and young! Ha! Because he could!

Englishrose4

I love this scent it's like roses but not at you know them and a silky sultry smell that I couldn't get enough of, it's very expensive and unusual smelling.
I wore this during spring and summer and there was something refreshing about it yet it has such substance.

I got asked lots of times by women what I was wearing and my husband loved it on me, just wish it wasn't quite so expensive though I will happily pay out again to smell that good.

Oh and not a hint of dusty oldness or girly bubble bath it's just pure grown woman!

Mas777

I completely agree with Catty :-) I only can add that ,on my skin and on my clothes, I smell a lot of mimosa and narcissus , which leaving in my mind a weird sensation of calm and relax....!

Jean-Claude Ellena has made some beautiful perfumes. I can appreciate the complexities and mastery that went into making this, but I don't actually like it. This is an odd-smelling fragrance. When I first put it on it had a really heavy leather note, and I am not a fan of leather notes. Even Hermes leather could not persuade me. The scent got better on the drydown, when it turned into a fairly standard floral, but then it shifted again and turned into this odd sweet scent. It shifted frequently, and overall, wasn't something I found pleasant (aside from the florals, which I liked). I would definitely not purchase this again, and doubt I'll wear it much.

hanson26

Every time I smell this, it absolutely blows me away. I've been wanting this perfume for years, but I never got it because in my pre-Fragrantica days I A) considered this wildly expensive, B) didn't know that discount sites were reputable, and C) didn't spend an inordinate amount of money on perfume back then because I was still sane before discovering this website :P But anyway, I just received a decant from a lovely Fragrantican and even though I've tried this many times before, it didn't fail to blow me away yet again. I don't know what it is about this perfume, but it's just absolutely incredible. The epitome of sophistication, in my opinion. Ross, leather, and grapefruit-who knew they'd blend so well together? The grapefruit adds a sparkly, refreshing touch to the rose, and the leather here is divine. It's definitely noticeable, and a very realistic leather note, but it doesn't take over the fragrance. The rose and grapefruit share the spotlight with the leather, and it's mesmerizing. And the inclusion of the leather is genius, because how many citrusy rose fragrances are there? A lot, right? But none with such a stunning leather note. I'd better buy a full bottle fast, because I'm going to burn through this decant. 10/10. Perfect.

projectalice345

I like the leather but I wish it was much stronger and there were no florals. I am trying to find a leather smell....the search goes on, its nice but maybe too light for me. I need a dirty smell. The rose is giving me a headache. Too scratchy and light. This is kind of a high-note perfume on me. Didnt work at all.

Just a side note......if anyone tried this and got a head ache and not much leather.....you should run and get a sample of Tom Fords Tuscan Leather. It is NOT sweet and head ache inducing like this.

Nirhtuc

I got a 1mL sample of this from The Perfumed Court, and I'm in love. This smells like a 'my skin but better' kind of perfume on me. It's so, so lovely and blends so perfectly with my natural scent. I really want a full bottle, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to buy one.

Update: I ended up getting a 50mL bottle for $60 from priceritemart.com.au and I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive!

Update 2: I wore this to my parents' anniversary dinner when I wore a real leather jacket and this complemented the smell of the leather really well! I also wore it after that occasion, but somehow it was underwhelming that time. I'm now wondering if I should have bought a full bottle haha!

halael

Opening: An explosion of powdery florals. Drydown: An expensive leather purse.
It's interesting, but I prefer my leathers dirtier, and the rose has a synthetic edge to it that makes the opening contrast with the drydown in an unpleasant way.
It's not a bad fragrance, especially for a designer, but it doesn't suit my taste.

Edit: The more I've tried it, the more I... like it? I bought another decant, anyways, so I must not dislike it too much. The rose and the leather aren't bad at all, but they're also not remarkable, other than for having that new handbag smell.

Hellita

This is about the EdP Kelly Caleche: I really wanted to love this one, as smelling from the bottle it smelt divine. But when it hit my skin all the florals disappeared and only leather remained. It's too much leather for my personal liking. It's probably very nice on someone else, but unfortunately didn't work for me.

Catty

Kelly Caleche for me is the simple and unpretentious chic.

It´s a citrus rose with a subtle leather touch, and that´s all...simply classy, rich and very fresh.

It´s a day scent, but Kelly Calleche is a very expensive acceesoire for your casual daily clothes.

It´s like to be dressed in a Jeans and in a White t-shirt, wearing a Pearl necklace to give a chic touch.

Kelly Caleche is like this Pearl necklace. Make you feel very refined, classy and fresh, in a very casual look.

Pure Magic!

carolynnj

I am not a big fan of floral smells, but every rule has an exception. I was shopping and caught a whiff of this and HAD to have it. Citrus cuts the floral scent which moves the granny roses into something much lighter, and it harmonised well with other flowers. The lily is a fantastic addition. The leathery undertones turn the fragrance from sweet and fresh to slightly dangerous... Like the librarian with a wild side. It's the perfect daytime treat.

I bought it on the spot. I wore the heck out of it until three weeks later when a guest knocked it off of my front door table. I have yet too replace it. It comes at a high price, but everything worthwhile comes at a cost!

Norgirl

Ohh my oh my This one took me by suprise
I got a sample of this in a swapp and thought well lets try it again , last time i was not to pleased mith it. But now .. Oh my G.. I feal like im walking on peacefull clouds . Its like in another world , angelic kind beings surrounding me with light and hope . A lighte pink ray of hope lingers a cool wind of serenity and calmness
This is what the fragrance did to me ;)
I can feal the cooling Rose and juicy grapefruit mixing with a slight leather note, mimosas and narcissus warming it up slightly slightly. The violet keeping the cooling affect with a dash of Iris just like a powder puff on top ;) wonderfull wonderfull . I cant detect much Tuberose in this one ( luckely) This makes me think i must have gotten a bad sample at an earlyer stage . I thought i could not care for this one but now.. This one goes right on top of my wish list . lovely just lovely nead a bottle :)

larita91

When it comes to perfumes, I definiately have a sweet tooth. So I don't have a clue why I fell in love with this one. I just ordered a sample because I yearned for something new, something different, and I got it...

It starts with ugly citrusy smell, like you poured out a bottle of pine-scented toilet freshener, but thats for only the first 10 seconds. Then it settles, and becomes the most beautiful leather scent I've ever smelled. Somehow I smell camomile in it, so this scent is a unique mixture of a new leather handbag and camomiles to my nose........one strange thing is that I've smelled it before, not he perfume, but the smell. I don't know when or how but I know I have. You know, this is one of those childhood memory scents to my nose, so I am totally in love, and wrapped whit good feelings when I wear it. :)

Both projection and longetivity are good on me.

LisaMari

Disappointing. I can definitely smell the leather but its so clean and airy - like a new handbag full of trebor mints.. I would've preferred it to be warmer and sexier - some musk or woodsy notes to compliment the leather and give it some staying power.

VeeNVegas

I have been dying to try this for months and fought hard to resist a blind buy based on everything I have read here on Fragrantica. Today my daughter brought me over several samples and I am sooooooo happy I didn't invest any money in this perfume.
By the descriptions here I was expecting a wonderful leather scent...one of my favorite notes. Instead all I got was something piney and green.I'm assuming this is the grapefruit that I am smelling.
No rose, no white flowers, no leather. Just Pine cleaner..

EDIT: I was looking through my old reviews today and was shocked to see what I had written and left here! Yes, my first testing of this perfume was a big disappointment but I knew I must be missing something as this is a much loved perfume. So, I tried it again and again and each time I smelled something different. By the 5th day I was in love and had to purchase a full bottle.

Yes, the grapefruit opening is a bit bitter and tart, but that soon changes to a delicate rose and mimosa mingled with the most gorgeous, realistic leather scent. I have smelled. I am in love with this beautiful perfume. It is exactly the beautiful leather scent I have been looking for.

incrediblemelk

I'm smelling this from a card, and only get a faint undertone of leather. For me it's a fresh, youthful scent, like freesias and orange blossom; I don't get any rose or iris. It smells elegant yet carefree, like a young woman wearing simple, expensive clothes in a casual way.

Jenge

I kept smelling mint in this especially early on. I always have mint chewing gum in my purse and that is what Kelly smells like: my purse with my gum, lotions, and the leather. The leather is very subtle and natural as is the grapefruit. The fragrance is soft and feminine.

I really liked it at first as none of the notes overpowered the others. I don't know where the mint is coming from, I almost think it could be the lily-of-the-valley, grapefruit combo. The mintyness went away, but unfortunately this became sour on my skin. Not citrus sour, but old flower sour and unpleasant.

Catty

I love leather! and it´s the 1rst time that I see a lady-like leather scent (they are usually a Little bit masculine).

This leather-musky scent is extremely feminine, refined, polite, fresh and modern. Really impressive how Jean Claude-Ellena achieved this composition!

Perfect for day-time, or a spring-summer evening.
I´m in love with Kelly Caleche!

It´s one of my faves!
A Masterpiece!

Sometime ago I said that one day I would flip and get Kelly Calache for me. At that time females' scents were off bounderies. Not any more. Some are too complex to be offered as masculine and at the same time not at all feminine themselves, rather manly like. So it was a matter of time before I finally bought me a bottle. Kelly Caleche is a sweet leather sprinkled with very light citrus and an even more discreet flowery accord. It is also green, but not in the Chanel No 19 way. It smells very unisex, and I have Prada L'Eau Ambree in the other arm, and that makes the leather stronger. I love it. Them.

SuzanneRonelle

Blind buy but from the reviews I had read here I simply knew that I would love it - and I do although my experience seems different from most. On me (I have the eau de toilette) it doesn't seem so floral, more like a spicy-leathery mix. Strong spice, softer leather. I don't smell any of the flower smells that others smell, I get strong notes of cloves, ginger, white soap and leather. It is define! I can't stop myself from smelling my wrists the whole time. Big thanks to the other reviewers - your positive reviews put me onto a great perfume.

HeidiLynn

A fellow Fragrantican gifted me a passel of decants, and Kelly Caleche was one. This is not a fragrance I would choose on my own, not one that ever even crossed my radar, so I’m approaching it completely blind.

The first notes drifted past quickly, and my impression is of citrus followed by damp, clean clay and then dry, cool lilies with a note that I associate with Jacamo Silences, the sharp, slightly powdery, cool and aloof galbanum. That same galbanum-lily of the valley coolness is in Fidji, just a bit. It’s a note I associated with vintage scents (60’s-70’s, where lily of the valley, hyacinth and galbanum ruled supreme). I don’t see galbanum listed as a note, so I’m not sure what’s creating that impression. Is it the Iris, where older scents had hyacinth and galbanum? It’s as though KC were a modernized version of Silences or Fidji, with more citrus, more subtle lily and slightly less powder.

After that coolness comes the leather. Wow, what a smooth transition in such an unexpected direction! It’s the fancy society girl leaving the country club clothes on the floor so she can head out to the horse barn before the rest of the household wakes up, riding while the sun rises and the cool morning dew dries on the grass. There’s even a dried grass-hay kind of smell; the image is very much of a horse barn, one that is clean but still horsey and filled with leather riding implements and soft, fragrant hay. Not sure where this hay-smell is coming from; the 8 notes listed on Fragrantica belie the complexity of this fragrance, and would make you believe it’s an unbalanced floral-centric scent. Instead, KC is a smooth transition from citrus to floral to leathery hay. The dry down is remarkably dissimilar to the first notes; from crisp, cool sophistication to quite pastoral calm—“a day in the life of a down-to-earth society girl”. In fact, if you like Burberry Weekend, this could be “weekend of horseback riding” vs “weekend at the yacht club.”

This was a fun perfume adventure! I’m surprised at how much I enjoyed it, as usually I’m a floriental girl myself. If you enjoy unique floral compositions with depth and earthiness; if you want something that transitions nicely rather than staying linear on your skin; if you don’t want a shrieking white floral but you want something fresh, light and slightly sophisticated, this could be the perfume for you. Sillage is modest, longevity as yet unproven.

woodlandwalk

There's so much to like about this perfume - leather, iris, tiny touch of tuberose, mimosa - all wonderful, but the grapefruit dominates for me and has a sour effect on my skin that lasts.
If you're a little wary of grapefruit you might find this difficult, other than that though it's beautifully constructed, very elegant and I liked it more than the EDP

SayakaP

I used to wear this when I was really into hose riding. :-)
I wanted to smell like a rose on a saddle even when I'm in the office.

Cool-headed sexy. That's how I'd describe this elegant fragrance.

Rizaldo

I love this perfume, its smell is divine, but every time I use I get a headache, use poison, dolce vita, lady vegance, Casmir and another heavy, this is not strong, but it has a note that gets me down.

melodysage

Lovely, just lovely, the rose and grapefruit are pale and ethereal like wan early morning sunshine. Underneath the transparent florals there is a whiff of hay, clean sweat, and cool, almost slithery, leather. The smell of subliminal sex, idealized, and posh to its bones, a winged horse. Sublime, truly sublime, but also remote, distant. Not for those afraid of heights.

This would make a nice signature scent. Fresh and bright enough for the heat, complex enough for the cold, with an understated chic that can go anywhere.

scentedrat

I got a sample of this a few years ago and loved it. Used it all up, and then bought a bottle last winter. This time it was different. It seemed heavier and dirtier, with an almost rancid note. I couldn't find the flowers anywhere. I don't know if the formulation changed or what happened, but I went from love to hate on this one. And I'm unhappy about it, because I really did love it when I had my sample! It smelled feminine and pretty with just the right amount of leather. Now it goes straight to leather, hard and dirty.

lia78

This is by far the most unique and well blended perfume out there. The scent starts off citrusy and green with leather notes. Then the sweet powdery scent and soft leather just keeps you sniffing yourself for more. The skin scent is magnificent on this one. I tend to choose my perfumes based on how I feel at the time or how I want to feel.. Well, this one just makes me feel right. I spray this on me and I know, I am exactly where I'm suppose to be. Now and forever my signature fragrance...

bettybooplennon

I'm in love/hate of this fragrance, i love the bottle and the small locket charm, cute!, but i felt a little disappointed of the juice, it's just i expected too much for an Hermes fragrance, when i read leather makes me think an elegant and strong leather as Aigner Black, not something like blood as the Womanity by Thierry Mugler...thanks to God it fades after 30-40 minutes and then it smells like elegant floral-fruity...very weird perfume!, i got the 100ml, next time i want to try the L’Ambre des Merveilles i'm pretty sure is more suitable to my nose.

Bazique

This is a very interesting scent. At first I didn't like it much, but now I'm in love with it. It gives off the vibe of a young, chic, independent woman (Note: woman, not girl). It's very sophisticated in a modern way.

aqua76239

This is a rather interesting scent-to my nose it actually doesn't smell floral at all. It smells like very nice leather with intense fruit notes(I know there is no fruit in it but this is what it smells like to me).
If anything it kind of reminds me of Bottega Venetta scent althought BV is NOWHERE near as leather as KC.
Either way, I don't think its for me but I can see why people like it. I will give props to Hermes for creating something that stunning and unique.
P.S. It bears no resemblence to regular Caleche which is full of dusty aldehydes and which made me say "bleh"..sorry, aldehydes and I are mortal enemies LOL

EmilyTheStrange

Oh WOW. This is just gorgeous. First of all, Kelly Caleche is reminding me of something I can't quite put my finger on. Whatever it's reminding me of must of been a good thing though, that's for sure (do hope I figure it out soon though as it's driving me nuts).

The Grapefruit, Leather & Mimose just SING together, perfectly, in harmony! On my skin, those three notes are the stars of the show. However the florals in this dance their way in and out as well, especially that deliciate yet prominent Iris note. This is just so feminine, so elegant, so fun - but not in a juvenile sort of way, more in a sophisticated sort of way. Sophisticated fun LOL!

I'm usually wary of Grapefruit as it tends to take over on my skin - but not with Kelly Caleche. Black Orchid will always be my signature, but this is definitely a new favourite. It lasts forever, silage is great, projection is fantastic..and it just continually evolves while it's on my skin, especially that yummy leather. Just beautiful :)

Birchy cat

I love this. Fresh and elegant. Not over powering. Mostly I wear it in the summer but sometimes in the winter to remind me of the summer. I'm on my second bottle. It lasts well.

Rossinka

To wear this refined and strong perfume i recomend a tip: spray the scent anly in your wrists, then apray again in air and pass by, but avoid to spray behind your ears if you suffer with migraine or head aches :)
It's an incredible chick scent, but the word to wear is "parcimony" !

Molko

It's a really good, unique and discreet scent that easy to wear. I think the best fragrance for modern women who doesn't like sweet/fruity/floral and common feminine scents.
Instead of rose and leather I smell chamomile or the mix of these notes are equal to chamomile, cause my nose feels this fragrance fresh, soft, wet chamomile with powder. I feel that Kelly has a cold touch, but it's like heaven or like a little miracle that u can discover it. Long lasting, the projection is average to good. I really enjoy to wear in hot weather, I feel always and all day so fresh.

bettybluebell

I am obsessed with the aroma of Hermes leather products and thought this would be the answer to a perfect leather fragrance. For me, Kelly Caleche is so strong with the grapefruit note that I really don't get leather at all. I don't care for a grapefruit note so this is not to my liking but I appreciate the fresh bright quality. My expectations of a leather scent are that of a buttery smooth and deep mellowness, not crisp and fresh. This might appeal to those who are looking for sparkling grapefruit qualities, as this is a very nice high quality scent.

patxaran

Sprayed this on from a tester the other day. There is a reason why I have not taken it off my test list. It seems unlikely for me not to like this at all, given the nose, notes and general Hermes style that I tend to like. Maybe that tester was off, but seriously, all I got was a reminder of blasting myself with DEET on my Asia travels. Yes, really strong insect repellent. I am hopeful that when we next meet, Kelly Caleche and moi will have a more pleasant experience :-)

Dryne

Il love this aura.

temporal

It's a lively fragrance, which develops through the day from floral and lightly citrus notes to deep, warm yet fresh leather feeling, with a subtle touch of iris. It stays on my skin for many hours, and in the end of the day it is fresh and atmospheric.

The last phase of this journey is comforting and intriguing (as still there are shadows to discover). I adore this part, while the opening of the fragrance is just ok, without any special discoveries. But after a promising final you want to start this journey again!

Whit

This is another Hermes that I wanted to sample out of curiosity.

Rose is one of those notes that can be tricky on my skin and coupled with the leather, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, I fell in love with it! The rose doesn't do anything funky on my skin and it smells like a fresh bouquet of roses at first application. Then as it's drying, the leather makes it's entrance. On my skin, it's more of a suede leather aroma that doesn't change the smell of the roses, thank goodness. I've added this one to my want list already because I'm glad I found another rose that goes so well with my chemistry. A very romantic frag with hints of toughness with the leather note that has good longevity with moderate sillage.

rickyrebarco

A light well blended and balanced Jean-Claude Ellena scent. The opening is citrus and bright florals, drying down to more leather, a bit of animalic horsey note, and mostly iris and tuberose. This is very pretty to my nose.

The leather smells like nice suede or an expensive purse, rather buttery and just enough animalic to suggest horse livery, bits, bridles and boots. I needed a lighter leather scent to wear when Cuir de Russie was too much and I have found it.

Nota Bene: After trying the EDP, I find the EDP of Kelly Caleche to be superior because it is all rose, iris and tuberose with the leather, lacking the citrusy topnotes. The citrus does smell a bit synthetic when compared to the EDP so that is where I think folks are getting the synthetic scent with the EDT. The EDT is still a light and lovely scent. Just different from the EDP which has a deeper, more floral and natural scent to my nose.

antfarm

Synthetic leather, synthetic rose, and the other ingredients combine to create something reminiscent of furniture polish, or the stuff I spray on the leather seats of my car. Caleche is great, this Kelly Caleche is a poor flanker.

Nina Ghellere

Unbearable headache. Like poison to me.

Mangotea

Understated elegance. This fragrance I feel highlights and celebrates the elements of your personality thst make you feel unique.i just feel confident in my uniqueness when I wear this. Kind of quietly powerful, like I could hop in a horse and just start gracefully but powerfully galloping away to my mean boss' amazed sight..although in reality I am just siting in front of a computer in my office doing some mundane thing. This is not a girly fragrance but I find it is seductive in the way that only a very femine woman can seduce, effortlessly, with her presence. Kind of like a lady in the street and a predator in bed type. But this is also a strange smell. If it works with your body chemistry consider yourself lucky. This fragrance has a personality of her own without being overpowering kind of like a quiet scream. You either love it or hate it. It is subtle but unlike other discreet smells it is not forgetable.

sanzioonofre

Jose Marcos

I am a man and one of these days I will flip and buy this for me. It doesn't smell of women at all, it smells adventure, on a horse back, of course. I always come very close to buy it whenever I am at a duty free shop at the airport, but conventionalysm stops me though. But one of these days ...

Beatrixel

this makes me want to ride a horse on the snowy tundra as close as possible to the north, dressed in the most luxurious fur coat... oh.. and add the gloves, they have to be the finest leather! interesting!

shanghaifleur

I find this very intriguing and elegant. Not enough though to buy it, but i don't dislike it. I like the initial grapefruit and green notes, but i just can't get my nose to get used to the leather scent, almost overpowering on my skin.

pbluberry

It has a weird smell at first spray, I'm not sure if that is the leather. I'm new to the leather scent so I am unsure. Once dried, I smell rose, citrus and iris which I do like. This is the first rose and citrus scent I do not detest. Rose and citrus usually has a very sharpe smell to me that I do not like. This I quite like, the grapefruit is so juicy, fresh and delicious and does not compete with the rose.

Update:
My friend said this smells like rich lady, which I find funny.

Lolalemon

Wearing Kelly Caleche is like this: It is a fresh women's Grapefruit/ floral fragrance which you almost can't smell and enjoy because the leather seats in your new car are offgassing tanning chemicals so strongly that's all you can really smell. Leather. Leather. Leather. and grapefruit peels.
I do not understand the allure of wearing toxic tanning chemicals?

Forbiddenjade

Kelly, sophisticated yet natural grace and beauty.
That's all about this unique, enchanting, enveloping scent: an embrace from elegance, a timeless promise of uniqueness, the divine kiss of a goddess.

I have never found such mysterious, gentle and powerful charm in any other scent I wore. I was a goner the very first moment I detected its leathery, crispy distinctive floral character.

Works best on alkaline PH.

'Those horses are so spoilt I swear they sleep on straw strewn with rose petals.'.

An equine huff of a laugh, he rears his head back, raises a riding crop from his side to tap a glowing forehead. He breaks a smile and with a click of the heals of long riding boots he turns, showing off his golden mane as he does and is gone.

But it is he who smells of roses and leather and the early summer. It is he who smells exactly as you do.

He came, a messenger from 'the Gods': the judges. Those venerated men and women in whose hands your equestrian fate now resides.

How much simpler for the show-jumping powerhouses, projecting into the air with flair and barely controlled strength. Their task is merely to dazzle, to defy sense with their penetration and precision. They can be judged objectively: all they need to do is make no errors and achieve the required time.

And the masculine three day eventers? As long as they stay the course and come up reeking of earth and animal and grass, well, who cares?

Yours is the more difficult task. To harness horse sans Equipage into a wholly pleasing whole. Combine film star glamour and princessly Grace into three minutes of animal ballet.

The final preparation for your dressage moments in the ring. You and the beast exchange whispers, with a flick his tail throws a shower of fine white powder in the air, you adjust the saddle: the finest French leather, cured and scented so not even an allusion to the abattoir might upset the ride.

You mount and breathe deeply, the breeze brings the hint of wild yellow irises from the meadows lying fallow beyond the stately home.

The same wind brings your name made tinny by tannoys. You bridle for a moment. Your desire to perform, the urge bring pleasure makes an anxious knot of your insides. Walk on.

The arena, the illustrated sports photographers' flashing bulbs, the hubbub, the crowd, the swell and the excitement.

First silence. The smell of his roses, your rose, the bridle and the horse.

Then music.

The dance begins.

Kelly Caleche is a perfume that exists above all to bring a message of pleasure. Bright, gorgeously groomed citrus, yields instantly to early summer roses and the unmistakable hue of the most luxurious leather. This leather, is the distinct Hermes note, high and clear and carrying a fragility that is to my nose slightly haunting, or perhaps more precisely yearning.

It is this quality and the sparseness - as one critic put it - of this relatively simple composition that raises this perfume above the thorny crowd.

One for time when life is about giving and receiving or desiring pleasure.

jedrzejowskia

I sampled two scents today. Kelly caleche and 24F.
Kelly, Kelly, where is the edginess?? I adore the leather note, it should smell like new designer shoes, one of my favourite scents ever, but this frag has something too fresh in it for me. I get car seats (albeit expensive) and lime freshener. Buhuu. Why did my skin do that?

My search for proper leather notes continue...

chicrose

many women say this one is great, then i tried, nothing special but sometimes i miss the scent, i agree to mention this one is classic and legendary.

larissafenerli

Its not a perfume for a specific age group. Ive been wearing Kelly Caleche since im 16 and now im 20. Forever EDT

RugosaAlba

To me this is the most delicately scented leather(imagine the best goat milk soaps, they have similar creaminess), the most gorgeous iris, beautiful subtle rose and more. Subtleness is the approach here. It's my universal fragrance, I do not hesitate to take it everywhere with me.
It's something forever classy. I would never be embarrassed of it. It' just right with the longevity, projection. It's inoffensive the way Chopin's Nocturnes are.
It elevates my spirits always.
It may smell too animalic, leathery for some. Perhaps, Chanel #19 would be then a good alternative.

Sassy1

Well, as I've mentioned before, leather and I don't seem to get along. Fendi and Cabochard just smell like stale cigarettes to me but I thought maybe Hermes could do it better.
The verdict is still out...when I put the current version of KC on my skin, I was greeted by a definate harsh mustiness. It reminded me not so much of body odor but more like a sponge that's been sitting on the sink too long. What the heck??
Thankfully, after about 5 minutes I do pick up citrussy flowers and this stage is much nicer but still has a little musty tone...the leather maybe?

I don't know....Overall, I'd say it's a lighter less pretty version of In Love Again's citrus and rose but with a gritty backdrop.

Could definately be better.

mandasue5

I got this thinking that the leather would be stronger - as the reviews here seem to imply. At least on me, the leather was very very subtle. Mostly I got the floral scents which were a bit too sickly sweet for me.

s_athena

I used to love this baby. It was the perfect fragrance to stand out in college when the girls at the frat parties all smelled like Lolita Lempicka, Britney Spears Fantasy or Angel. Where those were all powdery fruit, caramel and white chocolate, this was a leather corset on a bed of roses - a lady in the street and a freak in the bed. This was a scent that could hang with the boys, possibly drink them under the table - and maybe take one of them home to have her way with him. Very femme but down-to-business. Definitely a scent for a bold, sophisticated woman with a corner office - and a whip in the closet. This is definitely a modern woman.

Alas, over the years those green top notes (likely the lily-of-the-valley) really started creating a pungent body odor smell on my skin, only made worse by the new-leather smell it opens with, so I gave this one up for a number of years. I tried a tester on my left arm recently for old-time's sake, but alas, the top notes were still pungent. I tested another on the other arm, found it more pleasant and bought that one instead (Marc Jacobs Daisy), but over the course of the afternoon while the inoffensive and girlish Daisy kept on with its breathy soprano, Kelly was settling in, the leather was wearing in like a vintage pair of boots, and I found myself sniffing my left arm more than my right. Kelly Caleche, that old sexy bitch, was drowning out Daisy with that leathery contralto, with curtain-call bouquets at her feet, and it was awesomeness! Both are floral and beautiful in their own way, but Daisy's the innocent girl I will grow out of and pass down to my daughter one day. Kelly Caleche is the chairwoman of the board, and doesn't give a shit what you have to say about it. She's the woman I want to mature into.

The takeaway is this - don't give up on Kelly if she comes on too shrill and pungent at first. Try on that leather corset, and let her sink in. You will be rewarded.

feleeni

I have quite a tumulous love affair with Kelly Caleche. I sprayed it on my wrist about two years ago and was enamoured. It was so soft and full of personality, old time charm, gentleness, grace (perhaps because of THE Grace it is named after?) with that needed modern twist.

Yesterday, something quite strange happened. I went to Hermes to finally purchase a bottle, but was smart enough to sample it again. On my skin, it now smells of sweet tobacco and leather, but in a very nostalgic, suffocating mix. I don't know what happened. Right after it, I tried Eau de Merveilles and fell in love. Needless to say, I left without a single purchase because I was so confused.

Mooniq

A soft and skinclose warm scent. I can smell leather, rose, grapefruit and iris. No sugarsweet or sweet flowernotes in this one. Perfect for office.

En mjuk och hudnära varm doft. Jag känner läder, ros, grape och iris mest. Inga sockersöta eller blomsöta doftnoter i denna. Perfekt för kontoret.

renperd

I first smell grapefruit with a bit of leather and then I get a whiff of beeswax followed by a fairly prominent honey note. The beeswax, honey and leather last very well and I find the whole thing extremely wearable for un homme. I'm thinking of getting the 100ml bottle but not at full price.

venclips

I like this one more than the EDP. The EDP is too heavy and leathery smells like old woman. The EDT is soft and floral more suitable for me. Unfortunately, the EDT faded away just in 1-2 hours on my skin, weak lasting power. The EDP have more great lasting power. Although i like the EDT, i won't buy it. It's just for a trial. Sorry.

Nataliemarie

I would think this is a more *womanly* fragrance than young girl.

dawnzartandlife

I think this is lovely, I love the floral with the hit of leather. I smelled it on a friend, went out bought it and now I just hate it on me with my body chemistry. I swapped it out with a friend.

Wilka

If Kelly Calèche "is aimed at girls 20-25 years of age"... Well, I'll be 58 in less than 2 months and I wore it last Tuesday for the first time. It's winter, here, in Uruguay and I had a great experience with this fragrance. It made me feel that I am definitely a woman, that I can be a lady, during daytime, in the middle of the city. It's great! I've loved it! But it has to be Autumn or Winter, you have to wear leather with it and to vibrate with town during daytime while wearing it.

GoodVibrations

The eau de toilette is lighter in color, has more of a leathery accord, and has a more citrusy range than the eau de parfum. Light, long-lasting, and great for summer. I would consider only the eau de toilette to be almost unisex, and a high quality unisex fragrance at that. The mimosa stands out in an unobtrusive way later in the day, thus rendering this slightly more feminine. It dries to smell like high quality leather with a high class, fresh, moderately plush personality.

SundayMorning

i find the EDT very different from the EDP (been using the EDP for 3 years)
Lighter leather, lighter rose, more citrus so its ligher but Still this one screams louder somehow, wich is a little bit annoying if you wear it to often....

Love both of them, but EDP is richer, deeper, sweeter and much more floral.

Jellybean

Citrus and roses at the beginning. Soft leather and iris show up right after.
I find drydown a bit too watery which translates into cheapo cheaps.
First 5 minutes are the best, then it goes downhill from there, stinker in the room:/

Aspendina

The beginning is my fav. Its a quick ride with this as it changes so fast. First its a lovely very perfect rose thenabout 10 seconds after is a powdery rose (my fav part) then very quickly after I get a blast of leather, then a johnson's baby powered rose, then sttles into a powdery leathery rose. All this hapens within 5 minutes. Not sure of lasting power yet as I just sprayed it. I do like this, probably best as a fall scent. :-)

PricklyAndHot

Most of all I feel in this fragrance not the rose or the leather note, but the grapefruit note. And because of this note this fragrance really reminds Un Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermes, too. I prefer Un Jardin Sur Le Nil to it, because it's much more interesting.

Tomira

Light, delicate and modern. Light, yet sophisticated and refreshing. I've never passed unnoticed while wearing this one.

pulung.uci

If i have to make an association out of Kelly Caleche, then it would be 'Confident'.

This perfume gives off superiority as well as sophistication from the scent of expensive leather and fresh flower. Whenever I'm due to an important meeting or presentation, I always feel compelled to wear this perfume.

On the other hand, Kelly Caleche is probably not for everybody. It comes off strong and tad agressive. It took me three times of trying before I got to know what Kelly Caleche is about. One should be very careful to wear it. It's not just a fragrance, it's a statement.

Great silage and longevity, which can be both good and bad, depending on the person who wears it.

Also, this might seem odd but I also smell sunshine in this perfume. J'adore <3

gracious

I love the perfumes of Hermes. Usually they are unusual, like this.
It has long duration

instantjim

I bought this for my wife from a clearance table (along with Eau Dynamisante by Clarins) at a greatly reduced price. I wasn't sure if she would like it, but I need not have worried: she loves it. I had seen this at a reduced price in the same store since last year and pounced when it got down to $20 (for 1.7 oz). Over the months of stalking this I smelled it repeatedly. Sometimes it smelled grassy, sometimes flowery, it has an elusive quality that is quite intriguing. It's not an 'in your face' floral, rather it is subdued and elegant. My wife (as another reviewer noted), said it smells 'buttery' and it is in her top ten favourites (yay -win).

Spicy

leather...but not in black - very feminine leather!

Little Cooling

This is such a strange and unusual edt. I got it as a presents from a friend, who just came back from France, who thought this would be my style. Well, it kind of is and isn't. I has such a wonderful smell in the beginning. It reminds me a tiny bit of Chancel "Chance", for just a second. But then it turns into a whole new scent. I smell the citrus and roses, so much. The iris is there, but for me, it's more than a whisper, than anything else. The leather note is there, all the way from the beginning to the end. For me, there is kind of a hay note in it somewhere as well.
It really has it's twists and turns. Some moments, I adore it and some others, I don't like it that much. I don't know what I have expected from this. I do like some other Hermés scents, but never had the desire to own any of them. Except for Hiris. But I have heard, that it has been re-formulated. So I don't know, if I should own a bottle of that?
Kelly Caléche, has a wonderful bottle and I do love the cap on it. It's clever that it has this close/open thing. Great to have it with u on holidays.
I think I might wear it some more. To give a fully review of it. But I doubt, I will ever buy it again. Then again...who knows, if I will start to love it, over time?

Kelly Caleche Eau De Parfum

In the bottle, Kelly smelled so much like Jardin Sur Le Nil that I had to check at the sample vial twice to see if there was a mistake with the packaging. I could not help but to test Sur Le Nil and Kelly Caleche at once side by side.

Sur Le Nil had a bright starchy green note while Kelly Caleche had a lil sweaty note at the very beginning. Although a couple of minutes later, they both became similar fruity floral scents that my nose had a hard time telling them apart.

Their differences started to pronounce during the drydown. There were more depth and sensuality to Kelly Caleche as I began to sensed more leathery and salty notes.

While Surl Le Nil remained crisp and transparent, Kelly Caleche continued to develop to a much deeper multifacet aroma. Kelly Caleche became a sweet & tender skin-like scent. I could definitely smell a butter-soft leather glove under the juicy fruity floral accords. Both scents projected moderately well, however, Kelly Caleche lasted a lot longer.

My conclusion? On the skin, they both are very different. Kelly Caleche is more cultured and refined .. Like a mother and a teenage daughter they are. Kelly Caleche is Jardin Sur Le Nil in a sweaty leather jacket!!!

special fresh spring perfume, "dessert" perfume

TillyWave_archive

Who would have thought that leather goes so well with everything? The leather in Kelly Caleche is of the subaudible variety, it lasts from the top to the bottom, and complements every note of this perfume.

The top is a citrus, a cross between a sweet pink grapefruit, and a astringent white grapfruit. There is also this wonderful, fresh green note--a broken flower stem, a new spring leaf, something transient but noticeable in the top notes.

The heart has the rose/citrus--this is what Kelly smells like for the most part. If you like rose, this is mostly a rosey frag. The rosey heart eventualy fades into a more rooty iris floral.

As I said, the leather is here is all stages, underlying everything.

This is such a feminine, beautiful perfume. I really love it. Oddly enough, I like to wear it when I'm going to be outdoors for a period of time, or if I'm wearing something pretty.

The only problem I have is I haven't masterd how much to wear. If I put on too much, it becomes rather cloying--the longevity is insane, it lasts all day plus. However if I only wear one or two sprays, I can't smell it after a few hours. Oh well, I will figure it out.

Kelly is very well done & wonderful!!

rose_selavie

Kelly Caleche opens with a very accurat blast of pink grapefruit, which I adore. Too bad this lovely fresh and dinamic start doesn`t last much longer. But soon I`m rewarded with a beautiful leather note combined with a pale rose. In time I get the impresion that I smell something that reminds me a bit of the Jardins series but much more feminine. This edt lasts long on skin, its so versatile and elegant and could be worn all year round, you`ll always make a good impression with this. It has something eternal chic, that will permanently be on top of the top.

leaudecoco

It reminds me of leather, citrus and rose...
It's a super elegant and powerful fragrance and not everyone is wearing it out.
Every time I'm putting on my leather jacket then I feel Kelly Caleche is a must-must :)
It's just unique!

garamascara

Vegetal is close but not quite an accurate description because this does not smell like vegetables nor do I think it’s fruity. This smells like stems and weeds and lily pads. I am from Florida and this perfume reminds me of the smell of my dad when he would jump in the boat basin with a machete and chop up all the plants that were clogging up the waterway. All those plants he pulled out, that is what this smells like if he shoved those plants into a Hermes handbag.

I like it. I am wearing it on a cold winter day with a yellow sweater (not as awful as it sounds) because I am longing for summer. It lasts all day on me and has a powerful strength, of course I did probably over spray this morning. One bit of warning; I think this perfume attracts bugs. I am being stalked by gnats.

iam2sexy4uris

The best part about this perfume is the dry down, but before that happens you have to tolerate too much lemony smell. And it's not just lemons, it's really sour lemons that are going bad. I'll skip :)

I got a decanted sample of this one, and Un Jardin Sur La Nil. In Kelly Caleche I start out smelling the citrus, possibly grapefruit, which then changes to a warm floral mix, with some of the leather accord and benzoin peeking through. It's not at all what I expected. It’s actually quite unisex, which I like, but it is a bit strong. After 4-5 hours of wear, it is still lingering, but in a more subtle way. I think it’s what I would describe as a “mature” perfume, but not dowdy. It doesn’t have the overly floral or powdery notes, nor the stinging sharpness. It’s not like Chanel No. 5, or Dior’s Poison, both of which I dislike. I can basically see it as a great scent for someone urbane but edgy, maybe in their 40s or older. It creates an image of a woman in perfectly pressed black and grey clothes, camel coat, with a nude manicure, red lip, and impossibly high heels, but she’s drinking tea alone at The Palace and reading House of Leaves, or something by Paul Auster and she’s not in a hurry.

AveParfum

I just smelled grapefruit, grapefruit, grapefruit! It was like candied grapefruit and reminded me of Babydoll YSL. I didn't enjoy it at all.
