I quite like this actually, despite being a little bit nervous blind buying it after reading reviews.

It's sandalwood forward. I don't really detect any jasmine at all. It's mostly woody and creamy. This fragrance is truly unisex imo. Like most other JHAG perfumes, I go nose blind to it very quickly, however I do enjoy it for layering and I like it for as long as I am able to pick up the scent. This is the first JHAG fragrance that I've been considering a larger bottle of when I am done the travel size.

dewyblue

Quite a pleasant smell, I get mostly sandalwood, butter, and a bit of powder. Not something I personally would want to smell like.

Charmedbymeghan

Good Coconut+Sandalwood fragrance for the dead heat of summer. It won't overwhelme but it will last. L'ORCHESTRE Piano Santal is one of my favorite perfumes and while this is in the same category of "creamy sandalwood" fragrances - this is quite different IMO.

If you've ever smelled LATTAFA Musamam White Intense - imagine that without the citrus notes and make the coconut even creamier. This is a creamy woody coconut. Only very slightly sweetened as a natural coconut would be. But made synthetic with the moleculars. I like this. Not sure I need it in my life though, and this is coming from someone obsessed with these types of perfumes.

1annie.beth

The sandalwood is super screechy, and combined with the Iso E Super it smells cheap. In my opinion it's undeserving of the price tag. There are much more enjoyable fragrances out there.

astralmonad870

Smells identical to Piano Santal except with poor performance. Not purchase worthy.

FlowerSeeker

Light cozy sandalwood with a gentle coconut. Not sweet. Woody. A bit of bitterness or sourness during dry down. I sprayed only once to test and I’m glad I didn’t spray more. I think it might have given me a headache. But I liked it so much that I’ll try again.

Leolia

I get a sandalwood and coconut skinscent.
No pickles to my nose.
It’s pleasant, a like not a love.

jadepo21

I think I must be anosmic to these types of molecular scents. I smelled almost nothing with it on but my husband said it was strong. To him, it smelled masculine and woody, but I truly got only the lightest impression of a scent.

miamiipeach

Tried this in the store and it’s very similar to This Is Us by Zadig & Voltaire.

Intoxicating. Alluring. Deeply sexy. Comforting. Mysterious. Lustful. Obsessed. The intrigue of new love on a hot summer night. Salty skin, sandy beach and expensive, exotic sandalwood. This is Dior’s Dune reimagined for a young and brave new world. Sunny Side Up is dry and woody with the most intriguing, unsweet coconut supporting note - almost but not quite toasted coconut. The sandalwood is extremely inviting and addictive but manages to remain subtle in its seduction. This is not a sweet or floral perfume, regardless of the notes listed - I get almost no vanilla or jasmine.

I’m nearly speechless over this one honestly, it’s just INTOXICATING. There was a time when, like many others, I was simply annoyed by this house for its poor sillage and noseblind wonders but they really do have some gems. Sunny Side Up and Lust for Sun have me in a power chokehold and are threatening to take spots in my top 10 for life. I only wish it were given any other name! This perfume is a treasure. It’s anything but whimsical. I’d honestly be half embarrassed to admit what I’m wearing if I’m ever asked. If it were up to me I would have named this masterpiece after nearly anything but a breakfast item…

Ilikewhatilike

I get super dominant woods. Sandalwood, but some pencil shavings as well. I unfortunately cannot detect coconut and vanilla.

BLove345

This perfume starts out light and lactonic, but quickly turns into a sandalwood explosion. It got stronger and stronger on me after about 15 minutes. If you don't love sandalwood, this isn't the scent for you. I wore it around the house for a little, while I got ready for bed. My mom told me to stop walking past her because I smelled annoying. I went to sleep and my arm still smelled like sandalwood in the morning, but it wasn't strong enough to be offensive anymore.

nichoa99

I was hoping the coconut milk and vanilla would sweeten this up, but I just get pickles unfortunately. On the hunt for a creamy warm sandalwood. Message me if you have any suggestions please!

sadsexygemini

To me this smells like advocaat, on initial smell and while in the bottle. Pretty quickly that top notes becomes a musky, more masculine kind of sweet scent. I see why this wouldn't be for everyone.

wondervalley666

When I first discovered this scent years ago I fell in love with it. However, I often had performance issues with it. I think the synthetic molecule type scents and notes don’t read to my nose well at all. Sometimes this scent would be heavenly spiced sweet wood lingering on my sweaters for days. Some days I got nothing. Some days it’s cold and chemical. Never performed well, others could barely smell me or couldn’t at all. Ultimately I had to move on.

I just blind bought Red Shield by Orlov and was surprised at how similar it is to the spicy sweet woody vibe I’d get on good days with Sunny Side Up. It’s not identical, but IMO it’s a better, richer, smells more expensive, and has more iris so it’s slightly more mature and powdery. It’s also an extrait and roughly around the same price, so I’m switching. Also if you want more of the spicy unisex woods without the sweetness or florals of Sunny Side Up, Viole D’Ochre by Yves Rocher is excellent and rich and performs better at a lower price point.

karobi

Somewhat sweet, linear coconut and sandalwood (I get more coconut than sandalwood). I sprayed this last night on my wrist twice, have showered and changed clothes since then and am STILL getting frequent whiffs of it. This stuff has eternal staying power. I would prefer this more as a summer scent.

The big problem with this one is the overly used bad quality sandalwood oil/accord used in every santal designerish perfumes.

I love good sandalwood oil but it’s very rare (santal austral, santal basmati, sandalo nobile, santal blush)

This one, I hate it.

It’s ubiquitous in designer/non-high end stuff:
Piano santal - Orchestre parfum
Santal blanc - van clees and Arpels
Even Santal Massoia from my beloved Hermes’ JCE
And ofc in Santal33 -> where it makes more sense though since there it plays the role of a drier and woodier colder wood. (Maybe that is were the trend started from?)

This stuff smells stomachy to my nose.
Very heavily dusty and dry dry dry woody, smells grey and cold and a blend between sawdust and play-doo, like forever closed interiors,
Might be good on other people but I hate it on me.

Not sure if this is what the Australian Sandalwood species smells like or it’s simply a bad industry standard for Santalum Album, But it’s just not for me at all.

That being said, I looove good sandalwood,
You get the amazing creamy one —> santal blush, sandalo nobile and santal basmati which is just wonderful
And the the oily comforting one which is so relaxing -> santal austral

That stuff is from a different breed.
Honestly, I can totally tell when this bad product is present cause it stands out so much to my nose.
If you think this is how great sandalwood is supposed to smell like think again and try the good stuff instead.

Should’ve even be marketed as the same ingredient.

The rest of the fragrance is very nice, and the composition would work very well, It’s just that the sandalwood quality is just bad and in sunny side up is actually quite overdosed compared to the rest of the accords.
(Or maybe it’s just so bad for my nose that the rest is basically nullified).

deekachu

I tried this on paper and immediately fell in love with the sandalwood. I just feel like this is more appropriate for cooler weather since the scent is long lasting (3 days on paper in my pocket, 7h on skin) but the sillage is not amazing, so it keeps lingering around you and after 5 hours it can become a lot to handle.

aeterna

It smells alright on the paper, but on my skin it turns into a cheap room frechener scent in the drydown.
Also, not a unique scent, I would say it's overpriced for what it is.

Helloneighbor

I blindbought this for a steep discount from a discounter and even then I'm still kind of disappointed. I got this because parle moi milky musk is my absolute favorite and based on reviews, I was hoping this would be along the same vein. However, it just seemed rather "dusty", if dusty has a smell. I don’t get much sandalwood and overall smells thin, kind of like how la croix seltzer is like a hint of a hint of flavor; this is like a hint of what it wants to smell like.

Sophia97

Okay I'm just here to tell, that I haven't smelled Sunny Side Up Juliette Has A Gun because I have the dupe of it by The Dua brand by the name of Bright Sunny Day. I have no idea how the original one smells like but I'm pretty much happy with it's inspiration. I get compliments every time I wear it. It's much reasonable and the longevity is 10/10.

gory-rilmore

On me, the softness and femininity of the coconut and vanilla hides; it is very wood-forward and almost scratchy, but complements other fragrances with a more feminine or sweet profile. So, I don’t feel very strongly about this one on its own, but I'm loving it for layering. So far, I've had the best success with Skylar’s Vanilla Vibes, Pink Canyon, and Coconut Cove. This plays so nicely with each of them, gives them a little longevity, and is helping transition them into fall.

missmeese

I really Like this scent, it last a long time on me as well. Smells to me a lot like Kayali Utopia

Kjkoni

Comfy, cozy, dry sandalwood and unsweetened coconut…. Simple and quite nice for layering, usually with a vanilla for me since I tend to prefer sweeter scents

Pez_Enelrio

On its own it is a bit masculine leaning, fresh woody but very light, sophisticated and beautiful smell. For summer it might work but for me it works better layering with basically anything. I use it enhance simple/boring fruity/floral fragrances, it gives them a nice woody touch making them more complex and interesting.

Hifza

Overall it's a perfect scent, smells like coconut powdery which is very pleasant to me. I enjoy wearing this scent day and night and can use it for coming 3 to 4 years. One thing is weird that sometimes when I spray it a couple of times, the scent vanishes and sometimes it stays very well. I don't know if it's the issue with my body chemistry or generally the fragrance has some issue.

DaintyEssence

Funny Light woody-spice scent - very interesting how that happened. Probably vanilla +jasmine do their work.
It is not unique but it is definitely well blended.
Also have great news for lasting - same scent after 5 hours, but with little less silage.

It reminds me - Vanilla Black pepper of Bohoboco. which i like very much. But Sunny side up - less sweet, more light and fresh.

..my coconut lost somewhere..

Esna

Coconut shaved ice topped with coconut cream and lecherita. Alberto Salvati’s Italian 70’s summer lake side home. Napping on a hammock covered with a toile linen sheet. “Il dolce far niente” the sweetness of doing nothing.

ave_maria

Smells just like Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco. It's horrid I had to wash it right off before I got a migraine that would last me the entire day.

Thykes10

On my skin I get mainly vanilla and sandalwood in opening. It's not too woody/masculine but definitely more unisex than I tend to go for. I was hoping to get the creamy and powdery notes that others get. My skin really pulls out the woody note profile and almost zero musk somes out. A few hours in, the full drydown is slightly more creamy but the woodiness was almost headache inducing for me. I wish I got what others did but I have to pass. Moderate longevity and projection, definitely a unisex scent. Not a safe blind buy though- I'd recommend testing on your skin first!

Fenissa

I love the aromatic woody, black pepper opening. Possibly because it wasn't at all what I was expecting, but also because I love pepper. Settles into an enjoyable powdery vanilla.

I don't get much coconut, but I do get a tremendous amount of Iso E Super throughout the entire wear. This is no bad thing because I enjoy it on my skin.

My only real gripe is that it doesn't last very long. Maybe 4 - 5 hours tops.

It does layer well with Crystal Noir and Virgin Island Water, both of which bring more coconut to the table.

All in all, I won't repurchase this, simply because I already have better examples of Sandalwood and coconut fragrances already in my collection, but I do love that zingy peppery opening.

Palmtrees507

So I also had the same reaction. I hated this at first. It has a woody/ peppery smell that comes to the top overwhelming all other smells at first spray. I initially thought this was the smell and hated it. But when wearing it all day I noticed it’s only the first 10 minutes or so. After that, it’s an absolutely different scent. It’s warm, creamy, vanilla coconut.. it’s beautiful. If you like vanilla gourmands, this will be a fun addition to ur collection. Just ignore the weird smell the first 10 minutes. I got at least 5 compliments on my perfume today!

It lasts all day, but I like smelling myself so I go through bottles like an alcoholic.

Also note: JHAG perfumes, as well as Valentino perfumes… idk what it is, but if I wear the scent for 2 days, my nose gets numb to the scent. It must be something in certain perfumes? I like my STRONG perfumes! And Juliette and Valentino are my hero’s for this. But my nose will just cut them off if I wear them too much. So if this happens to you. Just wear something else for a day and your scent will come back. I’m sure there’s a name for it. But no worries, everyone else can smell you at least lol

randomname

I love Sunny Side Up. Idk what's wrong with me, but the first time I put it on, I had a weirdly negative visceral reaction to it, and like.. angrily scrubbed it off. Then I kept smelling the blotter I sprayed in the background, and I was like wait... No, that's really good. It didn't change or anything, I think my brain just glitched when I first smelled it.

Anyway, it's lightly woodsy, lightly coconut, lightly vanilla... Just light. It's easy, but surprisingly lasts forever. Once I spray it on an item of clothing, it does not go away. Also lasts really well on the skin, despite being a lightweight scent.

There is something slightly... incomplete? Or maybe just to say I like using it to layer maybe more than I like it alone. I think SSU paired with Commodity Gold is what the "complete" version of this fragrance is in my head. But I really do like it alone. That said, this layers well with pretty much everything. I layered it with Intense Cafe, and ohmygod. Amazing. Goes great with other woody or heavier scents to lighten them up. Great with extra vanilla. It's just great.

Definitely more summery, but you could wear this any time.

Eriksen

Very woody the first 20 min, but then it settles and mellows out. Vanilla and the coconut steps in front, and the woody notes take a step back, without ever leaving. I bought this, thought .... Absolutely not for me!! Was going to sell it, but tried it some more, and now I really like it 😅☀️❤️ Summer scent for sure 🏵️☀️

neecola

Nice summer perfume that's not cliché but it doesn't wow me. It's office safe and sits close to the skin. I slightly prefer the scent of Arizona Bloom by Floral Street but it fades quickly whereas this scent lasts all day! I'll happily wear this to work for the summer, but if I'm going out I'll reach for something more noticeable or layer this with something else.

Fragn3wbie

I love this. To me, it’s warm sandalwood and coconut. I feel like it lasts hours on me and I can smell it around me all the time. I also have a sample of santal 33 and s33 is much fresher (I get a bit of the dill smell) and in my skin doesn’t last nearly as long. This one is warm and creamy and sunny. This was one of the first things I checked out when I started to get into fragrances and I still love it.

Madalina Dima

It's a creamy lightly scent with powdery notes and a subtle sandalwood note. I don't find it at all mild or too low in sillage and the longevity is pretty impressive.

Moonbby

I like this scent upon initial spray a lot, it’s a woody, creamy, coconut that doesn’t lean too beachy but is definitely summery. However, I’d say seconds after I spray it I can’t smell it anymore. I’m not sure if it’s my nose or the perfume. But I wish it was a scent I could smell longer than a minute.

cassieraeboyle

This is a great step up from a your-skin-but-better scent. I mostly get equal parts of creamy coconut and a dry sandalwood. I would consider this a more intimate scent but it will still get some compliments. Perfect year round or signature scent if you like these notes.

anntdangg

It projects well and very office-friendly. Pleasant scent of sandalwood, coconut and iso e super.
Can wear all year around and long lasting for me.
It is not very creamy but not as dry wood as santal 33.

EmilyPatchouli

This is the kind of perfume you will either love, or won't get AT ALL.
Personally, I love it!
It has a molecular base, so it will react very differently on different people.
On me, It takes about 15-20 minutes on my skin until I smell anything at all.
But then... It's beautiful. Such a pretty sandalwood, not harsh at all. A creamy coconut milk. The vanilla is very subtle, but it's there. The jasmine is also subtle, but it gives it all a lovely freshness. All together it's like a lovely, understated cloud of comfort, but also sunny and brightening. You can overspray this as much as you want, it's never too much.
If you're a fan of more subtle scents like I am, I think this is perfect sunny-coconuty-sandalwoody version of those soft cologne kind of scents.

Catmo

I get creamy coconut, Sandalwood and Iso e super. It’s warming, comforting and also beachy. I sprayed a tiny bit on my arm and have been getting whiffs for hours so it’s pretty potent. I’m not at all a fan or Santal 33 or Katy Perry Indi but I love this and I’m considering a bottle. Maybe it’s the coconut that’s the game changer for me?

Tannerbuhnaner

Mmm! I friggin love this fragrance. It is so delicious and warm. Sandalwood, Vanilla, and Coconut forward. It’s definitely very linear and synthetic, but it’s extremely pleasant. Moderate projection and honestly this stuff sticks to clothing like crazy for me. I smell it when taking my days old laundry to the wash even. I mostly love this as a base for layering with any other creamy/beachy fragrance. It goes perfectly with Santal 33, which is great if you want to give that beloved fragrance a bit of a unique creaminess. I also love it with Soleil Blanc, Sunkissed Hibiscus, and Arizona Bloom.

cyclone1391

Iso E super and I must not get along. I have yet to trial a fragrance with it that I like. On me, the coconut in the opening is pleasant and more of a coconut meat but it's fleeting. Then the remainder of the fragrance is a musty playdoh. Has quite the scent bubble and is long lasting, which is unfortunate for me at the moment, but good if this fragrance works well for you.

Lenniecha

This fragrance is very beachy, in a good way. It settles powdery-vanilla-coconut-sandalwood. I like it, it smells warmth and sunny days. Definitely a summer scent ! Wouldn’t say it smells like your typical sunscreen, it is much more raffine and classy, but you can smell the coconut milk in the base. Fun !

Peaches77

This scent reminds of warm weather and being outside in the sunshine. Would be great outdoor activities. I love vanilla, jasmine and coconut together, it gives it a tropical feel.

Top notes are Vanilla Absolute, Amyris and Jasmine; middle notes are Coconut Milk, Sandalwood, Orris Root and Jasmine; base notes are Iso E Super and Ambrette (Musk Mallow).

Natalieex

I do like this scent but I think that’s because I love sandalwood, even though it’s nice it’s not FBW for me. The sandalwood is the most prominent note to my nose and I get a little bit of coconut but I really do need to go looking for it. It’s very soft and sits close to the skin and really doesn’t last very long at all, I’m talking 2 hours max before the scent completely disappears.

ChanelNotes

All I get is ISO super + whisper of citrus.

Not much of a projection or sillage. Thankfully this is just a decant. On to the next.

insanelystellar

In absolute head over heels in love with this scent. It's a very light, linear scent. If you love creamy coconut and sandalwood this is a must.

raw umber

Sweet fluffy sandalwood jasmine-milk candy clouds. This scent reminds me of Santal 33 or Katy Perry Indi etc., mixed with the jasmine-musk flanker of Prada Candy called PRADA CANDY KISS (not the smaller sized bottle of the original Prada Candy scent that is also called "Prada Candy Kiss"). Picture a sweet airy woody musk with sugared dryer sheet jasmine- all lighter than air yet persistent.

The scent goes away and returns for the wearer while others in the vicinity can still smell it continuously from a greater distance in the way that all of those "molecule" scents tend to do. It lasts forever on fabric. These unreal properties, for something to be so light but still so tenacious are some of the hallmark traits of modern day synthetics.

Some people get headaches while others can't smell the scent at all. Some people think it smells expensive while others smell hamster cage. Confusing, right? I personally enjoy this scent but it can have a polarizing effect since it evokes so many things in different people.

lmnsvgz

This is so so so pretty! There is something that reminds me of a baby product. That + COCONUT. It feels light but definitely a very pretty summer scent.

Edit: As it dried down it kind of reminded me of Gris Charnel (If it was made for the summer). Damn!

Maat

can't smell anything 😰

alternateu

Love it! My favourite perfume from JHAG.
It's a lightly creamy (though never "sweet coconut") scent, a bit dry from the sandalwood, and very lightly powdery from the orris. A very simple, cool/clean, your-skin-but-better scent.
The projection is very low (skin scent on me) and has low to average longevity, but an interesting scent, and will definitely keep it in my collection. As much as I love it, wouldn't say it's blind buy safe, because some days I do get a bit of sour-dill from the sandalwood - try before you buy!

persefoni

Sprayed once on the wrist at the shop yesterday morning , and I'm still smelling it today, although I'm wearing totally different clothes. Great longevity!
For the first 3 hours it was exactly my beloved Bois Farine: lots flour, sandalwood and resins. Then it became a bit more powdery, but still a lot of Farine! I haven't managed to smell coconut or vanilla so far. As for eso super, not sure what that smells like.....
This is a great scent, but to my hay-feverish nose, another Bois Farine. Perhaps this will change once i regain my full olfactory ability!

PerfumePixie87

This opens with a blast of dry sandalwood which swiftly gives way to a creamy musky vanilla with warmth from subtle hints of realistic coconut. Very pleasant and wearable, I enjoyed the sample. This is certainly a casual daytime scent for warm days but the fleeting performance would stop me from purchasing a full bottle. Beautifully palatable lighter sandalwood for Spring and Summer.

Scouthome

Very very soft and mild skin scent with predominantly a clean sandal wood accord. This is sadly way more plain to med than it’s rather interesting note pyramid suggests. But I get absolutely no Jasmine in here despite Jasmine being in both top and heart. I don’t really get any coconut or vanilla either. What I do get is ISO-E which makes me in this concoction quite anosmic to it, (and perhaps also to some of the notes it’s there to create.

What I do get is a very smooth and almost undetectable but sweet leaning sandal wood and a very timid musk and if I concentrate maybe a tiny bit of orris root… The scent as a whole reminds me a tiny bit of Byredo’s De los Santos. But that one is way more complex and project and last a lot longer. A way better buy in my opinion if a clean woody fragrance with a tiny bit of sweetness is what you wish for. It also has the same form of sandal wood as Piano Santal has, but the latter has no sweetness whatsoever but is more lactonic.

Sunny Side Up is at best a very inoffensive fragrance that perhaps can be a choice if you work in an environment where wearing fragrance is frowned upon as one would need to go very close to you to notice… People who are sensitive to molecule accords however will sense this more. So it is not a foolproof choice even for that,
The scent is beautiful but just so incredibly timid and shy that even I who often prefer my fragrances not to be beast mode and who do like me a nice skin scent find this a bit lacking in performance. It leaves an impression reminiscent of the old tale of the emperor with no clothes… if that makes sense. I at times wonder if I imagine I have it on or if I actually forgot to put something on… If it just had a little bit more oumph I would probably really like this, as I love my De los Santos and kind of also like my Santal 33 and struggle with my Piano Santal. But this is a little bit too timid and afraid for my taste…

It does stay in its timid very close to skin mode though for a few hours and does the further you get stay pretty linear. The woodyness subsides a tiny bit and left behind is the molecule and the musk with a tiny bit of sweetness and a bit of wood.

Even if it is not provocative in any way shape or form I still would not consider this a safe blind buy. Try it out first to see how much power you can get from it which will largely depend on your ability to pick up on molecule scents, and particularly JHAG’s take on them.

EDIT Update: I wrote my review during winter of 2023 and in that setting Sunny Side Up did for sure not put on much of a show... And even through its name suggests its made for sunny times and not dark Scandinavian cold winters... The scent profile usually works very well in colder weather. But - and this again tells how different an experience of a fragrance can be depending on when it is being used - Now it's spring and I am giving this another go. And to my surprise I do get a little more expression from this now! It will never be beast mode, (thankfully) but at least now it is beginning to qualify into skin scent territory and I can smell it on me at least for about four or so hours and then I get to experience more of the beauty that before was just hinted. So I can now say that for use in spring and hopefully also during summer Sunny Side up can come more into its own right! ❣️

Sniffathon

Starts off promising - similar vibes to Le Labo Santal 33. But it hits the base notes in under 45 minutes and all that’s left is the iso E super and ambrette base which I’m not vibing with. A boring example of perfumes in this genre.

ChocoLei

A soft & clean unisex sandalwood. A little bit powdery too. It's not milky, the sandalwood remains dry. I love sandalwood so this is an easy like. However, I'm still disappointed because:

1) I don't get much evolution on my skin
2) I don't get coconut, vanilla nor jasmine

I think it's a matter of ph, as some people get the coconut milk as the most prominent note on their skin-- lucky them! I wish I got the same experience.

Still, it smells nice. But I would not opt for this sandalwood, as once again there isn't much evolution.

Edit: after 4 hours, the powdery iris is taking more space, but still no coconut or jasmine :(

mizz_g0at

I liked this. It's not too woody, not too coconut. Would be good for an everyday scent, as I think it's woody enough for the fall/winter season, but coconutty enough to for spring/summer. It lasted forever but wasn't overpowering, and it doesn't have obnoxious projection either, so if you're looking for a unique signature scent, this would be a great option.

Vellocet

This is such a vibrant and uplifting scent. Lives up to its name. It’s not tropical at all which I was a bit afraid it would be due to the coconut note. Instead it’s an airy, powdery vanilla with beautiful wood lingering in the background. The Iso e Super is definitely there too. Which is maybe why I think the longevity is ridiculous, I have to respray every two hours. Maybe i’m anosmic to Iso e Super though. But overall a masterpiece! 10/10

LeeloSteelo

I’m so sad that I am allergic to this fragrance. I tried it in store on paper and then a spray on my sweater since I already had scent on my skin. It was woody creamy coconut so that being my jam I bought it. Tried it on at home and I couldn’t stop sneezing and my eyes were watering. Waited a few days just in case it was a random occurrence. Nope full blown allergic to this lovely sandalwood scent. I’m use to some beast mode fragrances too. Anyone else?

kristiine

Iso e-super with dry coconut. If You like both, You will like this.
Quite strong if You are not anosmatic to iso e-super.

kkaattjjeess

Received this in the mail today. It's one of the fragrances I've been aware of for ages (I'm a big fan of coconut), but never actually tried it until now. I think there's 2 reasons for the somewhat low ratings: 1. it's a fairly weak scent (from the get go), and 2. there's conflicting info on what this fragrance smells like, so everybody will expect specific things from it, and God forbid it's not that exact thing: you expect coconut, some say it has no coconut, somebody says it smells like jasmine, others say there's no florals at all, milky, musky, dry, creamy, some claim it's actually like pencil shavings and cardboard. You name it.

What it smells like to me: mainly woody, with some coconut and musk. No flowers to my nose. Fairly linear. I like it so far. It reminds me of when you enter a very nice clothing store. Which I assume not everybody wants to smell like, but I do.

Kitcaliguluhhh

Very creamy sandalwood and soft coconut… not tropical, more like, cozy, you’re a passenger in a car near the beach and the sun is setting with that golden hour light shining over you. It could be unisex but the smooth soft sandalwood pushes it into “kinda feminine”. Jasmine doesn’t take center stage here, even though I don’t prefer jasmine notes on myself (on others it is nice). It’s not sweet in a “dessert way” it’s sweet in a “naturally sweet” way, a more mature way. Like a little indulgence. I adore this scent. I don’t care too much for the other JHAG fragrances. I blew through my travel spray and bought the full bottle.

Lavagirl66

The opening notes feel like golden sunshine to me, it almost has vibrant pineapple vibe. It then dries down to a sweeter and more wearable Santal 33 sandalwood scent, without the dreaded pickle note. I totally get the reference to sunshine, I'll will certainly be wearing this this Summer.

Navid3

How i would describe this would be spicey cedarwood. That's all i get which i do like. It's a wood and spices mix but not woody like vetiver, instead it's woody like cedar. Wood chips, light, dusty and dry. Seats closer to the skin but it's not unnoticeable.

AlaskanAngel

UPDATE
This does share notes with INDI but, just like its name, this is much warmer with a sweeter scent story. Wearing them side by side on opposite wrists, the differences are obvious. SSU is richly layered while INDI is fresher, lighter, and simply less refined. Both are nice, just depends on the vibe you're into. I wear SSU when I'm okay with smelling friendly and INDI when I'm just trying to get errands done.

Post Note
The longer SSU is on my skin, the sweeter it becomes. It warms and radiates. I'd actually prefer it to not turn quite so sweet by end of day. INDI dosen't change at all after it settles and remains a cooler, cleaner musk, still sweet but easier for me to wear.

Gracaroli

My first impresion was - I know this smell! But it was hard to tell what it is. For me it reminds Gris charnel. It's strange, because the notes are different 🤔 maybe it's sandalwood? But it's a really nice smell and when it's evaluets it's becomes more beautiful 😍

fernprairie

A beautiful woody and floral fragrance with noticeable vanilla. Can be worn year round because the coconut, although not absent, doesn’t evoke that tropical suntan lotion scent it is often associated with. Performance is ultimately meh. Projects well for first hour or so then is more or less a skin scent, it doesn’t fade away completely (you can catch whiffs of it throughout the day) but no one is really going to smell it unless you’re close. Overall worth buying in the context of a university friendly, year round LIGHT scent.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that this bottle has the best atomizer I have ever seen in a perfume, it’s almost like an aerosol

yurkin

I figured what this fragrance truly smells like.

Imagine getting back home and being enveloped by the hot steam after somebody else took bath with coconut showergel.

Bottom line: it's very very different, like two complete different scents, depending on the season you wear it. It's coconut-y only in summer, and it's very woody in winter.

AuthenticAF

I got a recent batch and i cant smell anything.

almondluver1

Oh my god this smells sooooo good. What a huge turn around!!! This is one of the first perfumes I tried when I first started getting into fragrances and back then, I thought it smelled too “weird” for my taste (it smelled way too sandalwoody/woody and sunscreeny for me, with a weird underlying musk). Granted, back then I was only acquainted with public friendly designer scents. Fast forward almost 2 years later, I’ve finally retested this perfume and I am in LOVE 😍!!!

My nose must’ve changed cuz it smells nothing like how I remembered from 2 years ago lol. I don’t get the sunscreen at all anymore and the sandalwood is just the right amount. Am I crazy? Or does this smell like powdery sugary sweet almonds & orange blossom? Smells really similar to Reminiscence Dragee to me, but maybe with a touch of sandalwood and coconut. Otherwise, it smells like powdered sugary almonds and orange blossom.

Zoe22

On a test strip I like this, it's creamy, woody coconut. Warm, musky and ever so slightly sweet. Truly unisex. But on my skin and even on clothes it's nothing like that. It's a musty, stale, smell. Kept trying because I found the smell on paper so addicting but it's not going to work for me.

yurkin

Buttery creamy woody musky realistic coconut. Nothing scary about it, no eggs, no pickles, no Not a Perfume Superdose dry down. It's gentle, well rounded musky coconut scent.

Rixus

My new signature. This is a masterpiece from start to finish. On me it is a woody, warm laundry scent. There is a lactonic sweetness but it is slight and tempered by the wood, amyris, and jasmine. It remains fresh and doesn't stray into gourmand territory. The jasmine functions as a sweetness buffer but doesn't stand out as its own note, which is fantastic because usually to my nose jasmine starts to smell like a cleaning product, and there is none of that in Sunny Side Up. Often I find iso e super to smell too cedarish on me, but in this perfume that does not happen at all. The woodiness is exactly like when you open an actual fresh coconut, and coconut note is authentic in that way as well. It isn't sweet, it's like genuine woody coconut husk.

The balance is all around fantastic and I found the dry down to be pretty linear, which I love. I like when the smell out of the bottle is what I can expect 8 hours later. It does last and project, but it isn't overwhelming and really meshes with my body chemistry. I catch whiffs of it throughout my day but I think it is much more noticeable to other people. It leaves a trail and is definitely a kind of effortlessly sexy. I absolutely adore this. I hope it never gets discontinued, as great fragrances often do.

JennyNoBull

Finally had a chance to test this fragrance. I almost blind bought a FB but canceled the order based on some of the extremely negative reviews here. I adore this scent! It’s nothing life changing, but it’s a cosy comforting sandalwood that’s great for weekends and sunny days. I definitely get the jasmine and the coconut milk is very creamy against the standout sandalwood. It melts on my skin in the most soft way. Longevity on me is more than 6 hours and the silage is quite unremarkable, but boy is this nice! I don’t get dill, or cooked eggs or vomit. It just goes to show you that we all have different perceptions of the same scent. Might be FB worthy, but it has some similar notes to Gris Charnel minus the fig and cardamom. What to do?

Update: I bought a decant of this and it’s the perfect casual fragrance for me. Sone people have said the longevity is poor. On my skin it’s almost eternal. The ISO-E Super helps the Sandalwood stick around. I sprayed at 8 pm and the next morning I could still smell it.

I will purchase a full bottle and this will be my casual jeans and t-shirt scent.

frag_nostalgia

This sandalwood is creamy and soft. On my skin it lacks the dill accord I get from Santal 33 (a good thing!). I barely detect any vanilla nor jasmine. This fragrance is not floral or gourmand, it is simply a gorgeous, beachy sandalwood musk. My favorite sandalwood scent yet -- it's just so beautiful and uncomplicated. I honestly love this.

firstmate423

Mmmm… this is heavenly! I blind bought this today, and it was a success!! This is so good: creamy, coconut milk, Lactonic, sandalwood, etc. Not so coconut that is smells like vacation, sunscreen, etc,, I will wear it year round, especially at home and for running errands. It smells cozy and comforting to me, and also perfectly appropriate for work. It’s so good I’m already contemplating buying a back up bottle!

savvyminx

Try this layered with a tropical floral like Monoi by Rag & Bone. Sunny is a little boring by itself, but adding some creamy florals tends to cover the slight dill tang of the sandalwood in this one and makes it so much more faceted and dreamy.

HecateZeusIsis

This was a scrubber for me, gave me an instant headache. Thankfully i had a 2ml tester, will give that away too.

Klowe58

On me, this is a creamy, fluffy, lactonic, clean, musky sandalwood. A hint of vanilla. I don’t get the coconut or florals. I love it. Not sure I get the name, but It’s a simple, comforting skin scent that I could wear any day. A “you just smell good” kind of scent. I often can’t wear iso E super because I smell like like a cedar plank dipped in gasoline and bug spray…but the molecules must be in just the right concentration and balance here because because I smell lovely.

Low strength and sillage, which I prefer. Wish it lasted a bit longer though. I get several hours on skin.

maddy.cucu

So damn disappointed in you JHAG.
THIS USED TO BE SO GOOD. and then they reformulated it and now it lasts 15 mins on the skin. And no it’s not the iso e super, it used to smell strong. Waste of money now.

If your bottle says JHAG on the cap, it’s no bueno.

Martah22

On paper, I like this scent I get the coconut and Jasmine as well as some of the sandalwood. On my skin, it's a completely different fragrance. I get no florals or coconut at all. What I get is strong sandalwood. Typically I'm fine with sandalwood and even appreciate the creaminess it adds but when it is too overpowering it gives me a bit of a light urine or barnyard kind of scent (I can't think of another description - sorry!) and the other notes are trying to mask that odor. I'll will come back to it and see if anything changes but right now this is not mixing well with my chemistry

Shellyscents

Soapy musky pencil shavings. Was expecting a woody coconut not cardboard 😞

Edit 2 mos later: let my sample sit and it smells more creamy, however it is not out the woods as far as soapiness and cardboardishness.

I think I will try layering with Mix Bars Coconut Palm or Chapter One by Jennifer Aniston, it would improve longevity and scent I believe.

Edit 11/2022: Smells good mixed with Ck in2u, makes it a little more woody and lasting. Trying it with Tangier Vanille by Aerin, overpowers TV but my bottle hasnt sat too long.

sbosa

On my skin this smells nice but the longevity is not as good as I thought. Normally Edt with Iso E hold longer on my skin. After spraying I get milky coconut and sandalwood. As it dries down the vanilla gets more presence. A pretty scent for the summer.

avb37

This perfume lasted longer than I expected. I really liked it at first, but then someone mentioned that Le Labo Santal 33 smelled like pickles. I then realized one day that Sunny Side Up kind of reminds me of pickles too, and now I can't unsmell it. Sorry :( Definitely try a sample or travel size first.

dharastover

All I could smell was the Iso E Super, smelled very similar to Another 13 or even their very own not a perfume, it’s longer lasting creamier sister. Not full bottle worthy to me since I have Another 13 and Not a Perfume

The Wolf

This is a creamy sandalwood and coconut sunscreen concoction that I can see being perfect for warm weather.

Very pleasent fragrance and can be had for a bargain which is good because the performance kinda sucks 😕.
Strong like 😀

Scent 7.5/10
Performance 3.5/10

AquaBaby5

I like the scent, it has a creamy sandalwood. However I do pick up on the coconut, if you aren’t a fan of coconut like me, skip this.

angeldoll

This is very pretty coconuty creamy scent. Great longevity on my skin. Projection is also good. But if someone wants save the money, buy Crystal Noir EDT, instead. Because the dry down is basically the same thing! :) So I wanted a new perfume and I have something I've worn a few years ago lol. :)

TriFrtaljČetri

Tried this in hope l'll find better quality version of Katy Perry's lndi which l adore but this isn't doing it. They are the same type of scent but lndi is soooo much better as scent itself, smooth creamy, sweet ,but not to sweet, musk. Jhg sunny side up is not that likeable, in fact l don't like it at all...too animalic (reminds me of animal piss??) but longevity is much much better. Would not recommend as a blind buy even if you like musky scents similar to lndi.

carliezucker

I can't quite explain the fragrance, it's warm and woody and sensual but the coconut gives it a nice gourmand touch that doesn't steer it too much into masculine territory. I'd say it's a feminine/unisex scent.
Which makes sense because as far as I know, this dress smells like the drag queen Katya. I'll explain:
When I used to be obsessed with drag, I went out of my way to buy a dress auctioned off by her. When I finally got it in the mail and unwrapped the package, this very scent filled the room. I didn't know what the scent was, however, until I stumbled upon it testing fragrances at Sephora. I bought a travel bottle of it but it sat on my shelf for a few years cuz it didn't seem like "me". Lately my fragrance palette has evolved and I like to wear this every once in a while when I'm going out and want a little more attention.

Scooty77

I’m so sad. I was so excited about this sample. It turned into some weird hamster cage scent on me. Ended up scrubbing it. ☹️

klonopinbrat

On the fence about this one. I don't know if I actually enjoy the smell or if it just evokes some deep forgotten memory in my psyche. It took me hours to pin it down- but it smells like the peanut butter (??) scented marker I bought once at the scholastic book fair as a child. This feels very close to that scent memory.
It's sandalwood heavy & almost buttery smelling on my skin, which might be the amyris note. The coconut note comes through only as much as it would feel like someone is spraying tanning oil at you from across the room. You know the smell is there but it's not quite realized. I don't care for many of the scents by this house but this one is at least intriguing. Silliage is decent and it lasted the few hours I spent scanning my little memories for that weird marker.

jcooley159

Big yikes. Having got a sample from my partner, I originally liked how the old residue around the spray nozzle smelled since it reminded me of sunshine and being a kid, but after spraying it on myself, I immediately got a synthetic cleaner and urinal cake vibe (not unlike ELdO's Rein Intense Incense) and HATED it. Even after scrubbing it off multiple times with soap and water, I still smell it, which would be great if it didn't smell horrible enough to get such a visceral reaction from me.

Loevens

I really wanted to love this fragrance, but all I get from it is straight up barn yard and rodent cage.
I don't smell the coconut, vanilla or jasmine just a weak woody note and some animalic pungent smell, like a petting zoo on a hot summers day.

But it sure is long lasting, so I guess it has that going for it,

S.kekkonen

Very heavy on the sandalwood, I have a hard time picking out other accords than wood. The sandalwood in this is reminisent of the same note in Milky Musk from Parle Moi de Parfum and If by RK from Frapin, both of which are favorites of mine - however something in this pulls stale and sour, almost like urine.

DaniBear1121

I wish I got the notes listed for this one, and the experience some reviewers describe. I love JHAG, but so far, I just can't get this one to work out. It honestly smells sharp and acidic to me, reminiscent of pee. Like that's all I can think of when I smell it. I've tried two different batches and gotten the same result. I am in NY and I've only tried this in winter months for reference.

I will try it again in warm weather in hopes of better results.

wenshere

I'm gonna be real, I really don't smell much from this perfume. This gives me a bit of a wall-paint vibe and I dislike it. The coconut is super faint and kind of unripe smelling for some reason. It's not creamy at all. I spritzed this 4x on a tester paper and it's still super faint overall, like I almost smell nothing. Meh.

Edit: Tested this on my skin too and the wall paint smell just intensified, it became even worse. Ew just no.

bakedBeans

This is a gorgeous sandalwood fragrance. I bought this because I was looking for something like Milky Musk from PMDP and Gris Charnel but at a lower price point. The coconut in here makes this so smooth and lovely. As with all JHAG perfumes this won't be screaming at you all day but it does last and you get pleasant whiffs of it here and there. Definitely not beachy so if you are looking for a super coconutty scent this probably isn't it. A must try for sandalwood lovers!

wondervalley666

TL DR: this fragrance is similar to DS & Durga Radio Bombay and Parle Moi Milky Musk, and a bit less similar to Katy Perry Indie and Yves Rocher Voile d’Ocre. A spicy sandalwood scent, all the other notes are in the background. White florals are barely detectable but turn indolic on some (but not all) so if you can’t do white florals this isn’t for you. This is one of the faintest scents I’ve ever purchased, a very intimate skin scent that requires a heavy hand. It disappears quickly from skin but will last a week+ on your clothes, so spray it on your shirt instead of chest for best performance and in case you get a toilet smell from the jasmine on your skin. This is one of the best scents I’ve ever smelled, very addictive, fem leaning unisex, exotic and spicy warm and sweet wood.

What an adventure this scent is. It’s unlike anything I’ve encountered before, yet feels nostalgic at the same time, filling me with a sense that this is what I've been searching for for over two decades. I blind bought a bottle of this after hearing it smells like the original Gap OM from the 90s-the warm and spicy one before they watered it down and cooled it down into the sad shadow of what it was. I've wanted a stronger adult version of that scent for so long and feel like I've been chasing a fragrance note I can't find and want a fix of...

I blind bought this bottle and test sprayed 5 spritzes post shower. Vanilla, very simple, faint and weak. Vanished after a minute or two… I sprayed 5 more. Still weak… so 5 more, really hitting my torso. Still SO weak. Barely any scent. I spent the next hour checking my batch code and reading other reviews, sure I got a fake. But the batch code was fresh (late 2020 I believe) and accurate. I was very disappointed, I immediately regretted the purchase.

During the first hour, this fragrance primarily smelled of vanilla, with a touch of coconut and a faint barely there warm sandalwood type scent. I love coconut but this scent was so mild, with no projection and no uniqueness to it. It really seemed like a watery synthetic BBW body spray, and I am NOT a BBW/body spray fan…

Then after an hour, this scent began changing and opening up. Coconut felt warmer, like on a sunny beach. Spices reminiscent of chai, ginger, and/or pepper began to surface. And suddenly, I smelled something really reminiscent of the spice I associated with 90's GAP OM that I was chasing!

Sunny Side Up - The sweetness of the vanilla coconut mixes with the musk and sandalwood that gives it that warm spicy unisex scent that keeps "puffing" addictive spicy notes at you. I got very faint jasmine on the first wear, and none after.

And that's where I'm going to rant about the performance of this perfume...

The first wear, the scent took over an hour to develop, then gave me and intimate yet intense sweet and spicy blend for hours 2-5, though I also seemed to get waves of the dry down on Versaces Crystal Noir, as another user mentioned. Vintage OM and Crystal Noir are two of my top 10 fav fragrances ever, and I never thought they smelled anything alike until I spent a couple hours in this crazy alternating scent cloud of Sunny Side Up. The siliage is one of the absolute poorest I've ever encountered, even after 20 sprays I couldn’t project this beyond a few inches. Mostly, it's just a skin scent. Later in the evening, I changed my shirt, which usually takes most of my perfume away, and I went to sleep. I smelled like this perfume ALL NIGHT, kept getting whiffs whenever I’d roll over. It was lovely. 12 hours after applying this and I could still smell it. My shirt from the day before smelled SO STRONG of this scent. It was magical. I am usually one who complains about poor longevity. I was impressed with the lasting power of this fragrance, even though it wasn't projecting. It smelled nice overall and I got no odd/rancid smells like others have mentioned.

But upon the second and thrid wear, it seemed like the bottle got even weaker. Only a few days went by, and I leave this bottle on my vanity in a dark room, so I don't understand why it seems to have gotten so weak... I got zero jasmine. Mild vanilla. Coconut was half the strength it was a few days ago. And the sexy spicy notes developed much quicker but lasted about half as long. WHAT IS GOING ON?

I read every review here trying to figure out why my bottle seems SO weak and to be getting weaker every day. I've never seen anything like this.

And then I read the reviews on Sephora. Countless review after review complaining of bottles that smelled nothing like the sampler, bottles of pure alcohol with no fragrance at all, bottles that are loosing fragrance after a single wear. Bottles that perform NOTHING like the samples. It looks like hundreds, if not thousands of people bought bottles between 2020-2022 that are defective. Either the fragrance wasn't mixed properly, or there's a problem with the atomizer..? I now have 2 bottles because I needed to buy elsewhere to compare, and both had an atomizer that was a bit runny/leaking down the bottle the first few sprays, and never leaked again after a few good sprays and pushing tight into place. Is that why the scent seems so weak? Apparently JHAG was telling these reviewers that the dealer they bought the perfume from was at fault for improperly storing the scent and they aren't liable - at SEPHORA (who isn't perfect but certainly knows what they're doing), on HUNDREDS of bottles that were sealed and weren't even 2 years old? Give me a break. Definitely don't appreciate the attitude and lack of acknowledgement of their mistakes. Strength means owning up to your mistakes and trying to do better next time, guys.

Overall I do LOVE this scent. I would wear it all the time, every day. It makes me happy. It turns me on. It’s sexy, natural, spiced, and IMO a sexual scent. I can't get enough, but I just can't bring myself to keep spending $70 per bottle (on ebay or on sale from the big perfume sites) for a 3.3oz full sized bottle I only get about 7-10 of wears out of before it runs out, especially since no one ever seems to notice I'm wearing this perfume except me. Even my spouse lied to me and pretended to "kind of" smell it, because he didn't want me to get angry that I wasted my money. Don't ever expect me to pay full price for this, definitely not until the company and/or hundreds of new reviewers state that the issue with poor performance is resolved. For now, it's a special occasion scent. It's like therapy - I wear it once a week or so to lift my spirits and make me happy.

And now for others who are interested in this fragrance:
If you were never a fan of the notes/combo in Gaps OM, I don’t recommend this for you. If you don’t like Crystal Noir, or hate coconut, or only like ultra feminine floral scents or are looking for a gourmand, this isn’t for you. It’s for a sweet and spicy earthy unisex scent lover. I personally love coconut, always have, always will try to find as many coconut heavy scents as I can, as long as they aren’t so fruity/plasticy/synthetic they burn my sinuses and give headaches (I’m looking at you, sol de janiero). This is definitely unisex, though a bit warm and sweet in a way that femmes it up, I sprayed it on my spouse and he smells great. It's pricey, but if you buy Tom Ford type scents and don't mind the price or short-lived performance, you'll probably be happy with this as well. If you're on a budget and are scraping together to afford this, hoping to get a bottle that will last forever and you can wear all the time with great performance, I wish you the best of luck and hope you get a good bottle. If you're looking for a dirt-cheap alternative, somehow Katy Perry's Indie is very close to this. I only bought Indie to compare it to this, would have never purchased otherwise, but it's a rather impressive scent. The spice isn't as addictive in Indie, and Indie has a faint fruity plum opening, but the overall scent has a remarkably similar vibe. Indie performs about as well as Sunny Side Up in terms of silliage, meaning it too is a very intimate skin scent, and doesn't last as long as SSU, but it's dirt cheap and doesn't make me feel as bad needing to reapply constantly.

SailorV

This is far woodier and less sweet than I thought it would be. I imagined a very milky, vanilla-infused sandalwood with a happy, summery, maybe even beachy vibe, but unfortunately I don't get that.

When I first tried this I had an instant flashback to my 90s childhood, specifically to the spruce scented tub tablets I used to bathe with. I haven't thought about those for at least 20 years, but when I smelled Sunny Side Up the picture of the fizzy tablets with the green foil around them came right back. It's crazy how vivid scent memories can be.

In the drydown the fragrance becomes softer and I finally smell some vanilla, but it's still more of a fuzzy woods scent. No coconut or jasmine for me. It fits in with the JHAG lineup, but not with the cute egg-themed color scheme of white and sunflower yellow. I often associate scents with colors and to me this is more of a subdued beige or even greige scent. More suited to an office job than to summer holidays.
Maybe my nose is missing some big molecule here. Z&V This Is Us is closer to what I wanted Sunny Side Up to be.

This is okay, inoffensive, not bad... But a little boring to me, and I don't want to smell like a bath tablet either.

LauraAD

Coconut vanilla musk that gains a hint of spiced sandalwood as it dries. Pleasant and gentle, summery without being floral or beachy. Not really creamy or milky. It's nice, but nothing spectacular...and "nice" doesn't really cut it for me. I like it, but I won't be buying a full bottle once I finish my decant sample.

cjlewis

You have to really like coconut milk smell to like this. It smells very similar to Mmmm... but with coconut milk. The wood is not spicy or overly masculine. The sandalwood is rich and helps balance the coconut. It's not tropical as others have said. Unfortunately the name makes me think of eggs, and then I think the coconut milk reminds me of egg custard. It's nice, but I don't personally want to smell like this.

alij1091

I love the scent of this fragrance so much - a creamy smooth coconut with warmth. It's the rare coconut that doesn't smell of the beach and isn't only for the summer. The sandalwood, coconut and vanilla are blended together so beautifully that not one over powers the other. It's a soft, cosy but light sweater, one you can wear year-round.
The only reason I never upgraded my travel size to a full bottle is that the longevity and silage were so poor that I couldn't justify it. I admit I'm a lover of beast mode performers, so this didn't do it for me, but if you prefer scents that sit closer to the skin, this could be for you.

kmyechan

This was a blind buy a couple years back, based on the notes - and did not smell as I expected, although I love it!

Very creamy coconut, vanilla and sandalwood combination, that does not read tropical at all to my nose - more like clothing that has been stored in a wooden chest, then worn against soft skin. It's lovely, woody, clean and sexy.

Of note, I've had several people asking what was smelling of wood wax (in a good way) while wearing this perfume. I agree - the projection is reminiscent of freshly waxed furniture, clean wood floorings, etc. The skin-like creamy notes are more prominent close by.

Honeyknives

I don’t know why no one has said that this smells exactly like dead crushed ants ( I remember when they crawl on me sometimes and I would unintentionally slap my leg to find a dead ant and a pungent smell would be in the air)
Sunny side up smells exactly like that & stays on all day ( I actually hate it ) I’m sorry it’s the only JHAG I don’t just don’t like but I hate. :(

diluted paintbox

I get the name.
In the pool of similar santal fragrances, this one is the most happy-go-lucky. In my opinion, coconut-iso-orris combination makes it kind of sunny and more playful. Another one of "the same ones" that goes on my wish list.

lorna.1

Sunnyside up is one of the few coconut forward fragrances that I like. The musk mallow is the saviour, and I enjoy this almost marshmallow or toasted coconut edible vibe. There is a sunny side in the opening with that beachy vibe of coconut, musk and creamy vanilla.
It is even more beautiful and deep when it dries down. I agree with the statements below that this is a cheeky number, it makes you think it will sparkle and fizz, but instead, it is deeper, warm and woody.
It is my favourite from this line, and more unique than Lady Vengeance and Not A Perfume, even though I enjoy them.
These are the only three from this house I could buy as many of the collection smells like derivative copies of something better by another house.
This is a lovely holiday scent and one you could wear out to lunch and would take you from Spring, Summer to Fall.
I enjoy it a lot. Happy, pleasing scent.

parfum arthur

Creaminess? Where? This is not what I expected, it is the incense-y, harsh, burning type of sandalwood that I have an aversion to. This reminds me of sandalwoods from my personal references: Tam Dao, Santal Blush, Sensuous Nude and nothing like the creamy, clean sandalwood of Milky Musk or Santal 33.

mrsoutlaw

Sunny Side Up is a strange name for such a deep musky fragrance. There is nothing about this fragrance that I would describe as "sunny." I fortunately didn't have the dill experience that some others have had. The only thing that I get from Sunny Side Up is a very warm very deep heavy musk. The fragrance is strong enough to cause a headache for some. This one falls into the beast mode category when it comes to longevity. If you are a big fan of musk, you may really like JHAG Sunny Side Up. Otherwise, I don't feel like there is anything particularly spectacular about this fragrance.

Whitesensation

At first I got the oriental vibe. I remember having something from al Rehab, I forgot what i was, just a simple unexpensive roll on. And then as stated bellow, it was just pickles. Unexpected, a big No, I don't see why to wear it. I think this one should be called Not A Perfume 😀

Foxglovefollies

Suddenly became a fancy, freshly showered Pickle with a woven robe of the finest Dill when I wore this. I sprayed in the early evening and it was still definitely there the next morning. Unfortunately not for me

pilvihihi

I stongly dislike. Smells like cheap Victoria's secret Pink coconut body mist. Super cloying.

I recently visited a big cosmetics store in Greece and it had just launched the specific perfumes. I had read many reviews about them here in Fragrantica, I had heard about the brand so I got very excited that I finally had the chance to try the specific perfumes. I tried this one and Musc Invisible but my excitement came to an end soon. I can not really tell that with one of them, I was over the moon..... I asked about their prices and to be honest with you their prices are out of my league, I am not sure if someone else would classify them as niche, but still their prices are very expensive for me.... Nevertheless, I yielded to temptation and I bought a small sample packet. We will see how it goes.... One thing that at least I have noticed (in my humble opinion) in high end perfumes is that, the majority of them are very strong and pungent for my liking, a key factor that eventually put me off. I have read many times that the raw materials are crucial when it comes to perfume and some of them are extremely rare and expensive so they forge the final price and the quality of a perfume, but if a perfume will be likeable or not is a very subjective matter.... For example, there are notes in these fragrances too that are totally unknown to me like ambroxan or iso E super, so I will jump in at the deep end.....Today, that's Christmas day, I decided to wear a special perfume so I went for JHAG. Together with my purchase, I was given a bunch of samples to try, so today quite randomly I grabbed this one. Once again I was overwhelmed by a very strong smell, that it was totally the opposite from my original intention/expectation, something soft, bright, sunny and relaxing (as its name....). Nevertheless, I did not wash it off but 4 hours later, I can not say that I have changed my mind, either.... For a very long time there was a very strong and pungent smell and 4 hours later (the time that I am writing this review) I can hardly smell it. (If I am not mistaken the 50 ml bottle costs around 85 euros so with this performance, imho it is not worthy, it is a total waste of money....). I am really sorry for this negative review but for sure the specific perfume is a no for me. Merry Christmas to all of you.🎄♥️

Locofiffi

I felt a little bit sick wearing this one. I think the combination musk, coconut and vanilla really threw me off.
Good thing it faded real quick on me.

SalamanderBanjo

This is one of my favorite perfumes. To me it evokes wearing a warm sweater and comfortable jeans with a hot, creamy cup of coffee while sitting in front of a cold and moody ocean that reminds you that life is fleeting and beautiful. I have been enjoying pairing it with cedar/cypress heavy fragrances as well.

ingeneuxo

-Opens as a faint fruity floral scent.
-Dries down to clean musk.
-Very faint and nondescript overall. (-)

My signature scent <3

J'dada

Smells like a watered down version of Versace Crystal Noir. If you like this fragrance but do not appreciate the poor silage and skin scent aspect of it and wish for something more intense, sultry and intoxicating i highly recommend the Versace!

AlaskanAngel

This is lovely and reminds me of Mugler's Alien if Alien was sweetened with a touch of coconut and less loud. This is smooth and easy to wear, like my-skin-but-better. The creamy jasmine and sandalwood combo really shines in the dry down. Mild and inoffensive, always appropriate. Perfectly unisex.

It's not as sweet as Mmmm but provides a similar feel of natural grace and a relaxed mood. Unfortunately it dosen't last as long on as Mmmm and stays closer to the skin. I received a travel size as gift with purchase. Not sure I'd buy a full bottle as this is not unique in my collection but it's nice.

PS
I think I need to add that these travel sizes are a couple years old. I wasn't really interested in them and they sat forgotten in a drawer. I mention this because I see in the reviews that there seems to be more people that enjoy their older bottles/samples. So there might be a difference in formula or letting them age. Just a thought. Or it could just be down to skin chemistry or biology too...

miumiulovesfood

This reminds me of my grandmother’s vintage sandalwood fan in her drawer, the milk smell from my daughter when she’s a baby, a fresh white fleece sweater under the sun in winter……I love it anyways!

Enfant du monde

This perfume is my happy scent for gloomy days. It has the Caribian beach vibe: Woody vanilla, coconut, milky sandalwood. The staying power on me isn't the most impressive, but I find it easier to fall asleep when wearing it.

IllyValley

Just a head's up on this one. You really need to test ut with your body chemistry first. I smelled this on my neice and it smelled like pure liquid golden sunshine with the promise of a creamy drink on its way. Both on the paper and on my skin it didn't smell nearly as good. Disappointing at best, off-putting at worst. Definitely not a safe blind buy but if you are one of those whose body chemistry works with this, it WORKS!

klrobe002

Smells nice, but doesn't fit this pricetag. Smells much cheaper, like something you would buy at a pharmacy, $20 for 50ml.

september_red

I really don’t know how else to say it, but this perfume smelled like hot, stale spit as soon as I put it on. The notes seemed so pleasant when reading about it but in reality it made me want to gag.

indibell

Really didn’t like this scent! The flavour combo is a good idea in theory, but the finished product smells horrible🤢 I really love all the other Juliette has a gun perfumes, but this one just smells super milky and weird, I would almost relate it to the smell of a half-cleaned toilet. It is a super strong and long-lasting scent though

klrobe002

I like this scent, but it does smell basic to me. If it were cheaper, I would buy it. It smells happy and easy. Sunny side up is a good name for it.

yungmich

This is the worst one out of all the JHAG perfumes I’ve tried from the discovery kit, this is just nasty. I thought I would’ve liked this because the notes seemed very inoffensive and nice but something about the coconut milk note is very nauseating. I don’t think that the combination of notes is nice on this one, everything just seems very out of place. It’s woody, milky, coconutty, musky, and sweet at the same time. Coconut milk, vanilla, sandalwood and amber are all very noticeable in this one. It tries to be a summer fragrance but also definitely is very heavy and in my opinion doesn’t quite suit summer well - notes are summery but the heaviness of everything combined together is much more autumn so over all it’s just a mess. It’s definitely a no from me. It does last around 6 hours on the skin.

Melylamash

It literally makes me nauseated. It should be a warm and gentle scent, but the way this thing smells I would be less disappointed if it smelled like eggs. One of the worst perfumes ever made. Full stop.

Allisonmsmith22

I must be anosmic to most of the notes... I only get sandalwood.

Aromalie

I don’t know if I got a bad sample but I’m reallyyy struggling to see the appeal here. I expected a soft, cozy scent but the first time I sprayed it on my wrist and smelled it, I almost burned my nostrils lol. It’s SO sharp! Extremely pungent and alcoholic. It was like a bad men’s fragrance. I find that it stays very masculine even in the dry down. It’s definitely woody and I don’t smell the coconut milk at all. It’s by no means a creamy or well rounded scent

BerryRose

I love spicy, amber fragrances so I am always delighted to discover a floral amber or soft amber fragrance that I can wear in the summer (one of my all time favourite fragrances is the fantastically summery Coccobello by Heeley). Sunny Side Up is a woodsy fragrance but it's very warm and spicy. This is a scent that could be worn in warmer or cooler weather depending on your preferences. I can see the appeal for wearing this is cold weather, and I could certainly wear this on autumn days but I love this for summer. I typically don't love fragrances with vanilla notes, but so many of the other components of this scent rank among my favourite notes so it really works for me. The amyris in the top note gives this a subtle, fresh piney scent in the beginning. Since there is sandalwood and jasmine in both the top and middle notes the initially impression that you get from this fragrance lasts for quite some time. It's also lovely to find a summer fragrance with orris root and ambrette. I know I'm not alone in thinking of this as a "coconut" fragrance but interestingly Juliette Has A Gun doesn't list coconut among the fragrance notes for Sunny Side Up. Is the coconut there or do we imagine it to be because in a beautifully composed fragrance the whole is greater than the sum of its parts? I won't lose any sleep over it. This perfume is warm, sexy, and sophisticated, perfect for day or night, and ideally paired with designer sunglasses and and a sundress while sipping drinks on a patio or rooftop.

emilyjxne

I love this scent, it’s like a mix between Soleil Blanc & Santal 33 with JHAG’s signature dose of musk & vanilla. It’s so lovely, it’s just lacking in the longevity/silliage department. I can see myself tolerating that & purchasing it when I’ve run out of the 2 aforementioned scents or maybe I should try Santal Blush!

bowieblue

I received a little sample of this with my Nose order. I have to say I too am shocked by how much this resembles PMP MM, which I absolutely love that fragrance. I mean its damn near identical minus the coconut note. The sandlewood and coconut combo in this is so dreamy and creamy. I feel like this a scent you could wear any day, any season. Great staying power. I sprayed a couple spritzes of my sample in the afternoon and when it was time for bed my fiancé caught a whiff and said I smelled amazing. It's FBW for me, only because I found a good deal on ebay. Not sure I would pay full price for this though.

RainbowGirl

Sunny Side Up was the hidden gem in my Juliette Has a Gun discovery set. Who knew it would be the vanilla, coconut, and sandlewood fragrance that would win my heart? This is the coconut fragrance I didn't know I wanted, and the coconut fragrance I didn't know I needed.

I am a cold loving Canadian trapped in hot humid Texas, so warm climates, and tropical perfumes, hold no allure for me. I love the ocean, but on a rocky beach, drinking hot cocoa, next to a bonfire, with a cool salty breeze blowing through my hair. Not covered in lotion, deep in warm sand that sticks to everything, drinking pineapple coconut alcohol until I vomit. Nope, tropical perfumes are not for me.

This is a warm coconut fragrance that smells ziltch tropical. It has a hint of sweetness at the beginning from the vanilla, but mostly it's this delicious warm sandlewood coconut, and my new heart's desire. Such a beautiful and comforting fragrance. Perfect for a long walk on a chilly day.

I have only tested this on my wrist, so for right now the projection is close. It's possible this would be stronger if I sprayed it on my clothes and in my hair, but also possible it'll just be a skin scent. But I would not mind re-applying this fragrance, if needed, and I am already looking for the best price to buy a full bottle.

Edited to add: I purchased a full bottle, and sprayed in my hair and on my clothes, the projection is great. My son told me I smelled buttery. Ha.

How difficult it is to comment on a perfume when its aroma seduces you but you cannot practically smell it and when you do it is at a super low level ...

I bought a Discovery set from the brand as it had always caught my attention. I have to say that I received it first thing in the morning today and I quickly tried all the fragrances. This perfume is the third one that I liked the least (with not a perfume and invisible musk behind; being my favorites Lipstick fever, mmmm and lady vengance) but I decided to wear it since I had to leave home early, it was quite sunny and it seemed like a good choice for it. Now that I have returned home for a moment, I have to say that ... I had to apply another perfume because I didn't even smell it in the distance. I do not know if the fault is mine that I am anosmic to any of its notes, or the perfume that, either the sample was in bad condition or that it is so.

Be that as it may, the aroma I liked a lot. It is a milky and tropical jasmine, bright and fresh, very pleasant and, also, the typical aroma that I love! It goes a bit along the lines of carnal flower, champs lunaires or Soleil blanc but, yes, any of them diluted about 10 times. I notice a lot of musk when it starts to dry, and a smell like salty ... but on my skin it does not last even 3 hours ... very unfortunately ... Also, the feeling was that from the beginning it was a very soft aroma. of skin, practically without projection. Therefore, although I quite like the aroma, I cannot give it a good rating since I consider that, at least on my skin, it smells good but it does not fulfill its function.

I have to say that although Juliette has a gun is sold as a feminine brand, all of her perfumes, at least the 8 that come in this Discovery set, seem unisex or unisex / feminine to me but perfectly wearable by a man so encourage everyone to try them without fear!

mojcazorko7

On me, this is similar to Jil Sander Sun in the opening, just less strong and sweet, more unisex. The projection is quite weak, will see about the longevity. I have a 2 ml sample from Notino. It's not a bad scent, but i don't think i'll buy a bottle, just because i have other coconut scents i prefer.
update: as it dries down, all i can smell is a milky coconut and its very faint, but it does stay on the skin for a long time (i could stil smell it the next day even)

InfiniteStarla

This was such a pleasant surprise. I blind bought based on the coconut note and other reviews, and even though I'm not someone who thought they liked sandalwood, or woody scents really in general, this is a really nicely blended scent. I get the dry coconut, a hint of vanilla, a slight buttery/creaminess from the orris and then a warm, rounded sandalwood. However, the real win to this is that none of it feels too much or too heavy - there is a delicious lightness to it all that means to me this feels strongly solar in nature - warm and soft. It almost feels textured in it's milky mellowness which I think is why I associate it with that "basking in the sun" kind of feeling. I think I'd wear this any time of year.

MarianB

Big no for me. The name Sunny side up makes me think of summer sunshine, flowers and tropical beaches. I expected something light and flowery. Instead I get a milky kind of wood, almost sickening sweet, scent. No jasmine, no coconut. And very strong. I cannot wash it of, no matter how hard I try! It reminds me of This is for Her by Zadig & Voltaire.

liat

Dry coconut. Warm skin scent, not a real summer fragrance at all, but very nice.
I get the comparison to SJP Stash (which I HATE) but this is way nicer, more refined, better quality and thankfully not migraine inducing.
Must try before you buy.

Photojenchick

Very similar to Indi by Katy Perry but with more depth & staying power. If you love Indi but find it disappears in an hour, give this a try. The dry down of SSU is warm- woods, coconut, & vanilla. It’s a versatile scent, good for the office, date night, or a breezy day on the beach. Find it layers well, too. Love layering it underneath Byredo Gypsy Water or Colette by Tocca.

realitygreene

I don't really get along with Juliette Has a Gun although I have no animosity toward the brand. I tend to find their fragrances sit on my skin heavily and I don't enjoy that. That being said, Sunny Side Up wasn't bad. I definitely won't buy it, but I liked how it smelled. The opening was very cloying and overbearing at first, but after an hour or two it settled into a more pleasant smell. This scent lasted 10+ hours on me so it's a shame that I don't love it. Someone else mentioned it's too heavy for summer and I agree. I think in hot hot weather this would feel suffocating, even just one spray. I will keep my sample and wear it occasionally - I would like to try it on a sunny fall day to see how it performs in that kind of weather.

Coalita

I like it a lot, but it's not a typical summer fragrance (how we can expect from name), because it's too heavy for hot summer, but if the weather is rainy summer day or spring/autumn/winter - it will be ok. But again - it's easy to overspray, because it's strong and little bit heavy. But every person find it different. I like it, but when I wear this fragrance, my daughter says - it's smell like WC. OMG!!! I hope, my colleagues don't think so...

singlehandedbeauty

Don't be a clown like me and blind buy this fragrance because it really is a sneaky chameleon that smells different on everyone. For some people, they are completely anosmic to the aroma chemicals in SSU and others find it obnoxiously overbearing. Two sprays and I am completely enveloped with this fragrance (and can even smell it through my mask) for a good 8-10 hours, but my husband only smells it when he gets close to me. I can detect all the notes listed. SSU is all about sandalwood and buttery orris root with the other notes playing supporting roles. I get a bit more vanilla and coconut in the beginning, but those notes take a back seat almost immediately. The dry down is a wild ride though. Sometimes I get figgy sandalwood, then I get dry roasted sandalwood, and then hints of citrus from the combination of floral/sweet notes. My husband says it smells very warm but too warm for summer. I absolutely agree. The verdict is out on whether or not I will keep SSU around. I suspect something in this is giving me a bit of a headache, and sadly, I'm realizing it's probably the orris root. It's a fun fragrance and I can appreciate the concept behind it, but for now, it's a like and not a love from me.

yesterday_borscht

I tried it first on a discovery set and i didn't like it because it seemed to sweet to me. today I purchased 100ml bottle in a discounter just because I like JHAG and the price was pretty much seductive. After reading some comments I realized people just don't get the mentality of a brand: all their perfumes are a dance of materials that smell natural and materials that don't. I think this collaboration brings this contemporary vibe. People don't share this mind that's why they smell bathroom freshener and other weird things. This brand tends to be kinky but still staying on a commercial side. I was surprised that from the bottle perfume smells different to me: I smell nothing but wood. I like wood but I'd love to get something else together with it. we'll see how it develops.

rosmarino

I sprayed this today on a sunny but chilly afternoon and voilà, summer arrived! The opening is cheerful, bright, refreshing yet mysteriously woody. 5 min later I find myself in a warm cloud of Vanilla and Sandalwood which brings up a wintery mood but confuses with tropical coconut. Smells perfect in projection, close to skin it is powdery with a somewhat synthetic note. I like it, but need to test in warmer weather.

Avian

I had low expectations but I am happy to report that they were pleasantly exceeded! Sunny Side Up strongly reminds me of the musky, woodsy, unisex SJP Stash, but painted in bolder, more abstract brushstrokes. The woods here are synthetic, but done in a tasteful manner. Both have a similar dense, dry, and dominating character. That is something JHAG tends to do, especially with their newer scents. Like Stash, Sunny even has a similar sour pickle-y effect, without smelling like literal pickles. I really like that texture- it's strange, but not unwelcome.

The main difference between the two are Stash's intense spices, which are replaced by a crunchy toasted coconut. With that, you retain some added interest instead of having a single-note sandalwood. An interesting observation: Sunny is very hard to smell up close on your skin, but it really wafts around you, catching you off guard. It lasts through the day, all the while doing this smoke-and-mirrors trick.

Miruna

It has almost nothing to do with Katy Perry's Indie or Crystal Noir, c'mon!
That aside, this is a fragrance that is right in between like and dislike. I kind of like it, but I get a short gasoline blast from the coconut-sandalwood combo, which I do not fancy.
So, I wouldn't buy it, but I'd say it is not bad.

kassinator

I find this fragrance so beautiful. I initially bought a travel size and I believe it was the day it arrived that I got online and bought a bottle! I’m surprised that there aren’t spices in the pyramid. I find the spices to be difficult to single out individually, but very present as in a blend of soft spice. Nothing sharp, but kind of a mellow cinnamon vibe. I think this is a beautiful sandalwood fragrance. It’s pretty high up their within my sandalwood collection. It’s a definite nod to Santal Blush. Other than sandalwood, sugar, woods, vanilla and soft spices I also am picking up a creamy coffee. It’s a little weird, because this is not a sandalwood I would describe as milky, but I do detect coffee with cream. It is slightly gourmand, maybe because of the coffee note. I also am picking similarities to Jeax Du Peau... I don’t find this scent to be the same quality level as the other two, but I bet you the nose behind this one smelled both of those masterpieces and whether knowingly or not, created a hybrid of the two. I think this is gorgeous!

And, just for reference, I do not find this similar to Vanilla Vibes. That one had a note that I just could not tolerate, so I think it automatically gave me a negative connotation with that fragrance in general. Furthermore, I do NOT smell urine. Or a bathroom. Or anything related to aging humans. I’m not sure how others are smelling that. It’s a pretty sweet scent to my nose!

Tilsie

I was kinda intrigued by this until my friend smelt it and said it smells like old man. It smells exactly like an old man in a care home.... like the comment below I think I might be smelling stale urine.

TapputiKaputi

The bathroom at a scrupulously cleaned downmarket takeout joint. Opens with a blast of Pine Sol. Mellows into synthetic air freshener. Not terrible, but if you’re paying full price, you have too much money.

andili

Perhaps my nose is faulty, but I really love this scent. I'm not smelling woodshavings for hamsters from my childhood as a previous poster described but the comment made me laugh.
This perfume reminds me of a resort I went to in Cancun, they sprayed a smell similar to this everywhere and now it is etched in my memory - except this perfume is less floral; Sunny side up is a very calming woody scent to me.
This perfume is definitely "different" and not what people expect when they think of perfume, perhaps also the reason why some people do not enjoy it. JHAG tend to steer in this direction: i.e. "This is not a perfume", except I think Sunny Side Up has a lot more character.

miarose

There's a certain artificialness in JHAG scents that have vanilla. This one is okay, certainly better than Vanilla Vibes, but it is so weak! There are so many notes that I love from the description, but I'm not catching any of them. This one is nice, but not worth buying a full bottle. I'm testing this from the discovery set. I probably like this one, but I can barely detect many of the notes on my skin. It's like a tease of a fragrance on me.
Update: Okay, this one is what I want to call a late bloomer. It's showing up much nicer, with more of the notes being apparent. Still not too fond of the vanilla, but I can see where this one would be more wearable than Vanilla Vibes.

faeriefractal

Sweet and subtle musk... Something in its genetics makes my nose tingle (in an allergic sense). It smells like a very gourmand floral (probably the coconut+vanilla paired with the jasmine) with a random twinge of nail polish (I’ve never worn a scent with Amyris...) . Not overwhelming, but not show-stopping either. Pretty weak projection and doesn’t last long on my skin (about 2 hours). It would be a nice touch-up fragrance for late spring, but it lacks romance— so I cannot write a poetic review of this fragrance. It’s a safe scent, on me.

Tropicat28

I blind bought this. It wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s very woody at first but it softens up in the dry down. I’m giving it to my husband. It will be a nice change from all the freshies for the spring/summer.

Edit: My husband thinks this is too feminine and refuses to wear it. I think my mention of it being unisex may have influenced his opinion. He is very macho. I really like how this smells I just don’t want to wear it on myself. Idk maybe if I layer it with coconut lotion of the coconut body mist from the body shop. It’s just a little too woody in the opening and mid.

Coquita

Sunny Side Up is the third JHAG perfume I try on my skin and the first one I like. It smells EXACTLY like the air freshener the barbershop around the corner uses: synthetic musky vanilla and sandalwood. Somehow, I like it a lot, even though it smells like a cocktail of cheap chemicals + coconut milk. It's a very linear fragrance that doesn't project much on my skin but lasts about 8 h on my skin. Very unisex and easily wearable as a daytime fragrance during every season. I don't think I'd buy it, but I'd be glad to receive it as a gift.

NDStars

First blast of vaguely spicy chemical vanilla musk. There's a hint of warmth that's like a memory of incense and then the sandalwood and coconut starts to dominate. At first It's pleasant enough but over time the sandalwood gets stronger and warmer. I've been on the verge of sneezing for the last 3 hours. Downgrading from Like to Okay.

Projection is apparently enormous so I wouldn't go heavy. Unisex and is made for autumn and winter days or nights.

6+ hours later: still going very strong. This one won't leave until a shower, I suspect.

michaeld2986

Wow! This is a woody, coconut, tropical vibe that smells beautiful and a male or female could pull this one off. I would classify it as more of a warm weather fragrance with very nice longevity, silage, and projection. It lasted about 7-9 hours on my skin and stayed within arms length. Very well done fragrance! If you want a warm weather fragrance that's not sweet, yet bright and uplifting you should definitely check this one out.

lnoskin

These notes are totally up my alley. I got the sample a few months back and it's been sitting on my want shelf since I first smelled it. Now that it's fall, I tried it again. It is very soft and disappears off of my skin very fast (I sprayed 4 sprays in the same spot on my hand without rubbing it in). I just took it off my want list because even though I feel like if I had it I would use it, I do not want to spend my money on it. I definitely think this can be unisex, I'm surprised it's marketed as a woman's only fragrance. I wish they added a bit more vanilla so make it a bit more feminine and last longer.

MaquiLab

Sandalwood and coconut, then a whole lot of Iso E Super. Fades away in less than 2 hours. Nothing special and definitely not what I expected. It's not bad, but I think this perfume has a lot of lost potential...

Petula009

This is sun - sligtly spicy, slightly coconut-y and always warm. I smile everytime I sniff myself wearing this one. Very easy-going, no-brainer.
Vibes: warm and fuzzy holiday parfume, but could be use all year around
Form: 2ml from Discovery set

ambydawn

One of my all time favorites! It used to be my "signature" that I would wear year-round, but sadly found that I become nose-blind to it very easily so now I mainly wear it late summer through early winter and mix it so I can continue smelling it on myself. On me it's a linear soft, creamy sandalwood. Sits close to the skin and is hard to overspray. I have received compliments on this yet I never feel like it projects enough to offend anyone sensitive to fragrance. Lasts maybe 3-4hrs, longer on clothes. Also smells much woodier on clothes, my skin brings out the creaminess more. The summer heat brings out the coconut (which I cannot smell in the fall/winter) and some florals, but it is very well blended and hard for me to pick out individual notes other than sandalwood. So cozy! Feminine in a way, but would also smell nice on a man.

NataliNatali510

Possibly the most uncomplicated and easy-going JHAG fragrance. It is fun and easy to wear, if your nose can tolerate/pickup/process the scent ‘molecules’. A good dose of molecular sandalwood with vanilla, coconut, and light florals. I love it! Dill pickle only when sniffing the sprayer, never on my skin. I layer with this Molecule 04 from Escentric Molecules to pump up that incredible javanol that smells like heaven on my skin. Test before you buy.

fonty_o

I've owned this for a couple of months, but have only just worn it today for the first time. I am feeling quite anxious today, and wanted to put on a soft scent.
This is a beautiful, cosy, warm scent. Sandalwood and powdery musk is what I am picking up. It smells like freshly cleaned cotton that is warm from the sun. Completely inoffensive, I will be wearing this one on days when I want to feel comforted, or straight out of a shower and into my PJ's.
This would work wonderfully all year round. I wish I'd worn it sooner!
It gives me the same clean, cosy vibes that I get from CK be, but much longer lasting and fluffier.

Dungey

I will start off by saying I loveeed not a perfume but try before you buy this one! All I smelt was dill pickle on my skin, I’ve never actually gaged from a perfume before but this one is so bad on some people’s chemistry, and unfortunately I’m one of those people 😑

EDIT
Welllll…..now I love it 😭 i don’t know if my chemistry changed or what but I actually have a full bottle now and am no longer getting pickles, just a lovely coconut, vanilla, & sandalwood.

elledeelee

I haven't had much luck with this type of scent, and I wonder if iso e super just doesn't work with my nose. I can only detect this perfume for the first two minutes, sometimes even less than that. I get sandalwood first, then vanilla, then a vague jasmine, singularly, one after another. Then....Nothing.. I become completely anosmic to it. I imagine it's quite nice... if you can smell it!

bdragonfly12345

I am so surprised by all the reviews saying they can't smell this, or that it disappears: on me, this is SOOOOO strong!! I put it on before work today [spritz on the back of each hand, in each elbow crease, and once on my neck], and I've had to put a sweater on, because it's overwhelming me, and kind of giving me a headache!

It's a pleasant scent, but very 'masculine' in my opinion--I got a lovely coconut at the beginning, but now it's pretty much just a slightly citrus-sandalwood-musk scent. Strangely, by the drydown, it's not so different from "Not a Perfume" to me!

Nice, but I doubt I would ever buy a full bottle of it. (I would happily accept it as a gift, though.) I think this would be best in the cool days during the cusp of winter and spring.

EDIT: I put this on nine hours ago, and it's still going strong (in the elbows), with no signs of fading. What a powerful fragrance!

LawmaLlama

The first 10 minutes is lovely sandlewood and coconut. Then, it fades into . . . nothing. It isn't sunny, and it has no smell. I don't get it. Will keep sampling other JHAG fragrances, but am not optimistic.

bovogie

I absolutely enjoy this scent but I love almost any fragrance that highlights sandalwood because its very relaxing to me. I was very surprised that this is almost identical to Milky Musk by Parle Moi de Parfum which Im very fond of. This is so similar to MM that I will probably not replace my bottle when its gone & just continue to repurchase SSU in replace of MM.

SSU is a relaxing & discreet scent that seems to go with anything & everything. I find this is a great vacation/beach scent but that doesn't mean that it has that typical suntan lotion beach scent to it at all. This is a very soft & supple scent that is a creamy, warm & inviting milky sandalwood musk. it's very unisex & its the type of scent you would discover on someone in an exotic location under the shade of a palm tree drinking some type of salted lime & mint refreshment.

IMO, I find that the projection is minimal, more like a subtle scent to be enjoyed by the wearer. As with any scent when applied to the skin, the longevity greatly depends on the individual. My skin is like the Sahara Desert so application of certain fragrances that require your skin to react is a bit tricky. I do find this scent to be pretty predictable when applied to my clothes & the scent remains the same as whether on my skin or my clothes. It's longevity on my clothes is about 6 hours. This is the only difference between SSU & MM....MM last twice as long on my clothes.

I'm not familiar with Indy by Katy Perry but I am intrigued to get my hands on it just to see how similar it is to SSU. However, as I stated before, I find that this fragrance is very similar to Milky Musk By PMdP. To my nose & IMO, Sunny Side UP & Milky Musk, smell almost identical & I'm a little mystified that it hasn't been noticed by anyone before.

Much better than expected. JHAG needs a special mindset, not classical. Once you’ve got the notice, you can read the parfumes right.
Sunny side up is an explosion of sandalwood cream. It behaves as a single player, the other notes are there to give a texture, a time, not a smell. See the coconut as a creaminess, the woods as a warm touch. Sun backed skin, oil, sweat, intimate laziness, slightly mocking you: what are you looking at ?

Brunch! The wood and floral notes combined with Iso E somehow come together to smell like a Mimosa Cocktail for me.

I appreciate the way JHAG was able to capture the scent without any orange or neroli in it. With a name like Sunny Side Up, I can't imagine what else they could be going for if not that.

Artio

So much more woody than I was expecting. I thought I'd be able to smell more jasmine and vanilla in the dry down but you only get those notes in the opening which is a shame. This fragrance could have been great if the jasmine and vanilla come through.

Gnossiennes

"Creamy" sandalwood, just as many have mentioned, not because of its quality, but because of the excess of vanilla and coconut. "Cheap and synthetic" Totally agree! But do not complain about that. Once the woody note is absent, it will become a ever more ill-qualitied baby lotions with horrible fragrance. I guess that's the true meaning of "sunny side up". Terrific execution!

rickyrebarco

Very heavy sandalwood with the overall woodiness of Iso-E-Super adding to its projection. There may be a hint of jasmine that I can smell, but overall just a LOT of sandalwood. Like the previous reviewer, I have decided that this house is not for me. None of the scents smell good on my skin and they all have an underlying funk of dirty musk and what smells like rotting patchouli. The sample set is going to someone who may like this brand. I do not.

jrotz2325

I'm now officially convinced that JHAG is just not a house for me and am done sampling their stuff. Horrible experience with Not a Perfume so I decided to give this one a try - yet again, their stuff doesn't do ANYTHING on my skin. This is another bust.

Tarquiniese

Very strong projection on my skin and luckily long sillage..Love this perfume. It’s not the usual tropical watery summer scent, nonetheless captures the true spirit of the warm July days and nights with a posh swing given by the splendid Santhal note mixed with the coco crispy aura..Just amazing and stays ages on clothes, lingering for hours and the day after.I know somebody could find it overwhelming and not summery at all, but I think just because we are now used to associate summer with exotic flowers and fruity notes that actually are not related to our beaches, not here in Italy anyway..In this juice I can smell the wood, the coconut smell of a cocktail (chemical coco), the salty bronzed skin and sweat in a good acceptance..the Ylang and the vanilla..but with a bitter undertone tha makes it soo interesting and sophisticated.A real gem for me.

This is a nice scent but it's not a "love" for me- very pretty linear sandalwood but quite diluted by iso e super, which I can tell because I am partially anosmic to iso e super- I can smell it at first, and I can sense it, if that makes sense, but I can't really smell it the way I can smell other things and it fades quickly from my nose. This is how the scent smells to me. Like sandalwood but with sort of a black hole where the iso e super is haha. Something is missing, if you will. And there is a hint of coconut which is nice but I wish it were more prominent because it seems very faint and fleeting. I get zero vanilla. I do get the similarities to Hillary Duff With Love, but to be honest I think I like that one more. Might be the lack of iso e super. Not sure. But they are both pretty. I am definitely happy to wear this scent and it's very easy to wear, I just don't think it's worth a full bottle.

RedIsDead

All it smells like to me is very very soft sandalwood, like incense or essential oil but not strong, almost barely there.

I couldn't get any of the other notes. Not worth the money unless you are a die hard sandalwood fan imo.

Taronga

It's nice fragrance, I quite like it, surprisingly it is very similar to Yohji Yamamoto Femme (which is about $30 for 30 mil bottle) Longevity and projection are similar too.

Luxury Problem

Anyone who thinks this smells like cheap sandalwood has never smelled real sandalwood before. I am a sandalwood snob and used to wear only pure Mysore sandalwood (the most expensive sandalwood) before I learned about all the ethical complications involved in using it, and this perfume smells just like Mysore sandalwood. It smells like the sandalwood from Tom Ford Santal Blush straight up and undiluted. Unfortunately, that’s all it smells like. I was hoping for some more coconut...something to justify its name. I love sandalwood and that’s why I bought this, but I was hoping for something a little more summery!

Jess23

I just get cheap sandalwood, not a fan.

Allisonmsmith22

I just get straight up sandalwood.

Tovah

I can't smell all of this one, unfortunately. It's very Samsara-sandalwood on my skin, and some Sage Onyx style coconut...it does not smell bright and sunny. It smells dank, like it's been at the bottom of drawer in a room in an attic, for years.

Мога да дам отливка

*I purchased the discovery set twice: (1) Amazon and (2) from Ipsy. Final Verdict: JHaG is an overpriced house.

Amazon sample: At first, I really liked it, it had a soft creamy feminine vibe that was casual and comfy. Longevity was awful as is the case (for me) on all JHaG perfumes that AREN'T the heavy musks and ouds.

Ipsy sample: Smelled off. It mostly smelled of alcohol to me. In this same set the Not a Perfume was incredibly faint and seemed very watered down. Everything else in the set smelled the way it should. After letting it sit for a bit I detected more of what I expected, so maybe that was just an off day for my nose (it was after a stuffy nosed cold)

Finacè reply: He absolutely hated this. Unfortunately, it was the 'bad' sample, so I can't be certain that he would so immediately hate what I originally got from it, but pretty sure he got plenty of the idea. He smelled it on paper and didn't even get close before turning his nose up in disgust.

Final Thoughts: I liked it, but I know I can find the same stuff that I liked here done much better for the same price or less.

Santal blanc VC. Кремообразно, плътно сандалово дърво, млечен натурален кокос. Близко до кожата, но дълготрайно.

RamsesII

This is not good sandalwood. This is the cheap synthetic sandalwood that smell like cheap soap. Not worth even $30
Also, it’s hard to smell it and 7 out if 10 do not smell it at all. Not worth anything.

I have to admit I was a real psycho about Sunny Side Up, and I don’t know why, but it ended up paying off. I had been eyeing it in Sephora at the end of last winter. I just knew I would love it, but the first time I sprayed each wrist, I couldn’t smell a thing except maybe a hint of saline, and even that was pushing it. I chalked it up to a raggedy tester. I went back about 3 weeks later when I assumed a new bottle would be out. Again, I hit each wrist with one spray, which was regrettable. I got the fried eggs/hamster shaving combo mentioned in previous reviews. I have no idea why I didn’t just give up after that, but after ANOTHER try, I got the lovely pickle juice/acetic acid aroma. I was really bummed, but I bought a bottle anyway because I wanted to love this so badly that I decided to force myself to learn to love it. Surprisingly, it worked, because now I get an opening of a nice sandalwood with nutty vibes, followed by spicy jasmine and creamy coconut milk, and a solid drydown of a combination of those notes. It’s never cloying or heavy, even in hot and humid weather. I can’t see myself without it at this point. Its pretty unisex, with impressive longevity for jhag at 5ish solid hours. Safe to say it’s not a great candidate for a blind buy though, so there’s that.

I love Tom Ford's Santal Blush but it is too expensive. Tried JHAG Sunny Side Up and amazingly, it had that same creamy sandalwood scent I love! I don't get any Santal 33 at all. The weird thing is, if you smell it directly on your skin, you wouldn't smell it but you can definitely smell it whenever there's a breeze or and get a whiff of it every now and then. Although not as bold as Santal Blush, this is a great alternative to it. Still not that cheap as it is a niche fragrance but great enough to showcase that smooth sandalwood note. I think this is the best fragrance among the JHAG collection imo.

kiraagold

Wakes up with a snap of nutty sandalwood, then jasmine and vanilla, but not too sweet. Lasts thru lunch hour then fades to a silvery metallic floral musk on the skin.

Hip and fun and would pair well with coffee.
(I'm more of a tea gal, though.)

chinook

After a small infleuencer recommended it and me completely fallen for the cute name and packaging, I got a sample. I get mostly sandalwood and a little bit of clean musk. It is mostly linear, except the musk reveals itself more in the dry down. The sillage is close to skin. I find it kind of strange that it only has 2 notes and both are traditionally used as base notes. Maybe that’s the concept. Maybe the low projection is good for the office. I’ll probably try layering it with another simple scent.

Konga5000

Cheap and synthetic. This should be $19.99 at Marshall's / Ross/ T.J. Maxx. Who knows; maybe in the future...it will be?

Kots_Tanya

This fragrance slightly reminds me of Moroccanoil hair product, I’m absolutely loving the moroccanoil and really wanted the perfume, so this is probably as close as I got to it. And I love sunny side up, the longevity is amazing.
This fragrance layers so well with Moroccanoil body products. Love it.

Rose du soir

I expected a Summer fragrance from the advertising, and found a warm, comforting Winter scent. A cosy musk. The coconut is faint if ever it exists - I actually think it's in the background and makes the musk creamier and a bit sweet, together with vanilla, jasmine and orris. The slightly sweet musk softly wraps the main note, sandalwood, and keeps the cedar base more feminine. The scent reminds me of another relaxing scent, Ode Au Rêve Yves Rocher. And like Ode Au Rêve, it's soothing and dreamy. It makes me want to take a warm blanket and drink tea, even though it's Summer now. I love it.

Sunny Side Up by Juliette Has a Gun is one of ‘those molecule fragrances’. Familiarity with the house is needed to put this fragrance into context, otherwise the note list could drive expectations in the wrong direction. One should not expect ‘natural’ sandalwood nor should one expect a sweet floral fragrance with mass-market appeal. Instead, think of woody, beachy skin scents such as Sensuous Nude by Estee Lauder or Eau de Merveilles by Hermes, and add the spooky minimalism of the Eccentric Molecules series. Sunny Side Up radiates off warm skin and plays tricks with your nose. It seems to bring some of the warm skin with it as it appears and reappears. Your nose will chase the fragrance all the way to your skin, where it suddenly hides, only to show up again when you are not paying attention. The sandalwood accord is a garage band with iso-e super as the lead guitarist, but it plays like a proper orchestra. Being a warm skin scent, Sunny Side Up works in the summer, in fact, this fragrance should work in all types of weather and for all types of settings.

Brilliant! 4.5/5

FoundALandmine

The opening of this fragrance, on my skin, was wondering. A smooth, comforting, coconutty sandalwood. Like hot, sunbaked wood at a cabin in August. I loved it for about a half an hour. Unfortunately, it dried down to a fairly light, but rather synthetic, headache inducing, almost cheap, masculine woody note. It overwhelmed me despite it wearing close to the skin. It's a bummer because I really enjoyed this one at first.
