I own a 100 ml and a backup 50 ml and this is the scent I wear to bed. Kilian's Rolling in Love smells similar to this but this is much nicer.

yasberry

I got a sample of it many months ago and I CAN'T stop thinking about it. It is so unique, warm, and deliciously cosy. I just wanna consume it. Longevity was insane on my clothes. There is a Scarlet Poppy Intense Jo Malone London-shaped hole in my heart but I'm scared to splurge. It smells gorgeous!!

yuki99999

Light, sweet powdery vanilla as expected. I can use it indoor.

vanillabeanshampoo

Clean, feminine, slightly vanillary. It’s like you took a bubble bath and used vanilla scented body wash. Powdery from the iris. I definitely wouldn’t describe it as sweet. Someone’s always complimenting me when I’m wearing this. Wish it lasted longer!

Flexwithviv

I have almost blind bought this perfume several times because of the reviews. I am so happy I got to try it today and it was just the way I expected. The figure is too much for me. It’s got a sour element to it but I can’t shake off I keep swelling the test strip and trying to find something I like about the fragrance. I’m going to try the original one next and see if that is any better.

Netarpearl

It’s just too faint, no longevity, little sillage. I suppose if you’re gonna be very intimate with someone for about one hour, that’s the right time for this perfume. That’s the only time I ended up using it.

Gwenorel

I have the discovery set for intense and for some reason I was meh about this when I first put it on. (I have used up myrrh and tonka, oud and bergamot, and velvet rose and oud completely lol). Today I happen to have the day off and knowing my mother with whom I live loves it thought ok, I’ll try it again.

WOW!!! I ADORE IT!!!

Before perhaps I was comparing it to the airy ones I love (pear and sweet pea, fig and lotus).

This is AMAZING! A fruity almost cherry smell that is over a burning, sensual scent. Just gorgeous. And yet still light and not overpowering!!!

This is simply a delicious scent.

Seems a bit more wintry than summery but I think it’s subtle enough for daytime. LOVE.

Naoelyse

Deep, warm and sweet. I'm not usually into sweet scents, but there's something special about Scarlet Poppy. I'm not sure I would have described it as powdery before seeing the reviews here, but now I understand that description. It smells familiar and cozy - I only reach for this on rainy days and it lasts forever on my sweaters.

LunaFortuna

I bought an excellent dupe of this called Formula #562 by a company called Perfectly Scentsable. It's an extrait de parfum, so it lasts and lasts. Loved it so much that I bought the original Scarlet Poppy. Well, I'm very glad to have Scarlet Poppy in my collection, and I love everything about it, but the dupe is spot on and is extrait strength, so just wanted to throw that out there for people who love this scent DNA but wish it was stronger. I know that Dua has a dupe too, but they are my least favorite dupe house, so I haven't tried it yet.

Lolapoop

beast longevity ,at least on clothes. It actually gets stronger by the hour . Funny thing, longevity is not the quality Im looking for. I like re-applying . It's also very linear ,so after some hours it gets boring and intrusive in the sense that you can't escape it.. But all in all it's a beautiful fragrance and Im happy to have it.

RocCity3

I've been planning to purchase this for a while, so I'm glad I finally have it in my collection. It's cozy and clean, has a lotion-like smell. Not perfumey, smells like a good "skin" scent. Great for everyday regardless of the season. Inoffensive and likable. The projection is moderate as is the lasting power; I think it's a bit overpriced.

betheljaviles

I love this fragrance! It is cozy, warm, and gently sensual. Although there is no cherry note, it reminds me a little bit of cherry fragrances (e.g., Lost Cherry, Lovefest Burning Cherry) and given that I enjoy cherry, I appreciated the similarities. This is versatile and can be worn in a variety of settings and for different occasions, including work since it sits rather close to the skin. Longevity isn't great, as in most Jo Malones, but good enough to last me through the workday. The initial spray does smell a little plastic-y, but disappears quickly into a beautiful fig, vanilla and tonka dry-down with an almost fresh feel.

polkadot27

This scent is truly beautiful and delicious smelling. It is sugared powdery cherries on a bed of iris, tonka and vanilla. It really is divine. I do understand why some say it smells plasticky, it has that old school 1990s makeup lipstick scent at the very base intermingled with what smells like warmed caramelized butter. As delicious as this is, it does dry down quickly into a skin scent and therefore does not project far and wide and for that very reason I could not justify purchasing this scent for £140. It is a shame about the poor projection as it does mean that as delicious and yummy as this scent undeniably is, it is way overpriced. I know they say this scent is unisex, and I'm not one for restricting scents to masculine, feminine or unisex as I do prefer those marketed as male fragrances for the most part. However for those wondering, I would say this scent is extremely soft and ultra feminine, it does not have a unisex vibe.

aspirina

Heliotrope and tonka bomb. Very sweet and powdery, musky, a little bit screechy to be honest. It is linear, the tonka-heliotrope here is very almondy, almost like almond extract on cake batter!! I guess it is very good for winter time but I can't see how this would be wearable in the warmer seasons. I don't see myself wearing it, I prefer good old Hypnotic Poison.

scarlett.angel

Did I get a bad sample? This scent is practically non-existent on my skin and paper. Perhaps it needs to mature. Or one of those fragrances that you need to spray all over your clothes with. With a name like "intense" too. It's just annoying not to smell a damn note.
Update: sprayed this on again and went out in the 30 degree heat. Ok wow! Now I can smell it. Just one spritz on my wrists. I definitely smell barley, tonka, and the floral notes. It's nice being back in the aircon now. However quite linear and gets boring quickly. Not worth the price unless you absolutely love this. Gets a bit plasticky. I can see why this would make a nice comfort scent in cold weather for those who enjoy it. Just something in it that makes it not for me. Gets tonka overload as it dries down.

SOTD Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy - 2/5
Ok scent and not comparable to any other perfume in my collection. Described on the packaging of floral: ravishing, moreish, sweetly decadent.

Doesn't smell bad but not something that I would seek out either. I'm glad to have tried it because of the buzz online about it. Smells powdery and a pinch plasticy. It is a flowery vanilla scent but I don't detect any barley in it. Settles into a stale makeup like scent. About 30 minutes it this is a skin scent for my skin. When I overspray I get a peppery aspect briefly.

Reviewed is based on a self purchased 1.5mL spray sample from a Jo Malone Cologne Intense Discovery Collection sampler. Wore at home.

I tested both Scarlet Poppy and Tom Fords Lost Cherry on the same arm. The rest of the day I had this beautiful scent that kept creeping up to my nose but I couldn’t figure out which one it was. I went back to the mall later that day and decided to test both again. I didn’t have to go past Joe Malone counter because it was the Scarlet Poppy. I know Cherry is not a note in this fragrance but I pick up the scent. The dry down in my opinion is better than the initial spray. I am not into gourmand fragrances so I should have known it wasn’t the Lost Cherry but considering the price difference I was sure it was. This is without a doubt my favourite JM scent. I wound not purchase a scent just because a bottle is attractive but it’s fair to note that the bottle is gorgeous as well. I’ve spent alot more on a perfume so I’d say the price point didn’t shock me. I found the longevity to be fine as well. This particular JM fragrance sells out to this day because it was out of stock for months. Thats telling

La Vie en Luxe

I absolutely adore this scent. Powdery, sweet, and it makes me feel so good but there is absolutely no projection. It lasts on my skin for around 6 hours and much longer on clothes, but there is just no sillage after about half an hour. Expected with a cologne, I know, but such a shame nonetheless. For this reason the price is not justified to me, but I still find myself repurchasing and wearing it almost daily because it's simply delicious

woodear

Warm, sweet, floral but in a nostalgic way. To me it brings memories of my childhood but I can't place them. Upon its opening it had an almost paper-like top note that settled within 15 minutes of spraying on my skin, and slowly became rounder, deeper, slightly sweeter and very rich. I find the florals and deeper notes like the tonka bean are really beautifully balanced, and the slight waxiness of the iris really softens the whole experience. 6 hours after spraying I can still smell it on me but it always sat pretty close to my skin. That being said it feels like one or two sprays of this fragrance at a time is enough, as it gets pretty dense as it settles. I don't find other Jo Malone perfumes particularly interesting but this one is absolutely gorgeous, will probably end up splurging on a bottle.

jillvee

Upon first spray i get a fruit jam-like quality (and almost a red currant vibe) which evolves to a sweet, powdery fig (not a green syrupy ripe fig) with a tonka base. I don't know that this fragrance has stand-out recognizable notes to someone smelling it without a scent pyramid handy but it is a pleasant, warm, cozy scent that isn't heady, green or excessively floral. This is a good cooler weather/Fall scent. I could see this perhaps being a bit cloying if you overdo it with the quantity of sprays, but a small amount is all you need.

vtothek

Honestly this is nothing special. I feel like the heliotrope takes over most of the composition and makes it smell like shampoo or soap. The fig is there and gives it a bit of juiciness, but it’s not enough to make this scent unique on its own. It’s fine, it’s a nice scent for work or running errands, but ultimately it’s forgettable.

disintigratedwoman

This is the kind of perfume I'd want my perfume or kids to remember me by - a comforting, feminine scent that feels like a warm, reassuring hug. Absolutely signature-worthy.

You can clearly smell the fig, tonka and heliotrope. There's also a powdery note that reminds me of iris (although I don't see it listed in the notes). Overall it smells creamy, sweet, and ever-so-slightly powdery, with a slight shampoo-like quality that ensures it never veers into 'too sweet' territory.

Perfect for mid to cooler temperatures. The bottle is absolutely stunning as well, if that's something you care about. Only downside is its longevity.. this projects for only the first hour or so, then becomes a skin scent on me, which is really disappointing given the $270 CAD price tag.

Edit: Simply wanted to add how much of a crowd-pleaser this is. I wore it to a dinner last weekend and literally received four unsolicited compliments as soon as I walked through the door. They said "you smell amazing!", or "wow, you smell so good!".

Apaolone04

First time I tested this I smelled something very sweet and powdery but also waxy, kind of like makeup. I liked it and found a bottle online for a good deal. When it got to me I realized I had smelled the newer one in store and just unknowingly bought the older one. To me they are very similar, but I kinda like this one better. It’s stronger and has an interesting rice like note added. Also smells like sunscreen but only if you wear it in the summer…kind of a magical scent bc once it’s winter you get more of the gourmand aspect to it. Very lovely scent, I recommend looking on mercari to get this formulation and not the newer one with the silver top. That one is still good, smells a little like glossier you but doesn’t last long.

Cherry_Darling

I can see why the powdery / make up bag girlies like this one. It's very strong on the iris, sweetened up but not gourmand style, plus the grainy wafery cookie biscuit aspect. I didn't suspect fig but now looking at the notes it really makes sense. There is a figgy green fruity nature to it that I would have initially placed as the vegetal poppy flower. It's a good one, and not like most jo malones it seems to last well. I may just use this up for those rare days I am in the mood for make up bag scents.

Gorgeous sexy biscotti/cookie scent, with also a bit of shampoo-like quality to it. I love this for crisp fall days.

C8

This Jo Malone scent is strikingly similar to Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry, has the palo santo incense note but without the fruitiness of the cherry. Jo Malone one has more finesse, is more refined than Kayali's. More a night time exotic scent, not very office-friendly.

astralmonad870

My second Jo Malone fragrance with heliotrope, a note I love. The first was Mallow on the Moor. This is a powdery dessert-like fragrance that smells like cherry with a hint of almond cookies or tonka and heliotrope. I managed to score a deal on a 50 ml bottle for £45 on Ebay. I prefer this to Kayali’s Burning Cherry. Not a novel addition to my collection. However, I thought this was still beautiful enough to buy at a third of its normal price.

This is a subtle and linear altought an ethereal, pastoral & enchantedly beautiful fragrance. ♡

There is that gorgeous, light beige colored, late summer breeze emberaced, silky field background which is created by the really-really mellow, subtle sweet almond-milk accord and its accompainment: the mild, smooth and powdery, slightly herbal & dry but also somehow lactonic barely. And this composition is perfectly blended, the notes just simply melted into eachother to make the impression of tired sunrays mixed into some milky cereal.

And from this light, lovely & delightful creamy base the playfully coquettish, effervescent but also fragile and dainty red poppies (which are mostly made of fig and the cherry & floral aspects of the heliotrope) are just popping out elfinly.♡

This enthtalling creation is neat, delicate & tender while it has a bucolic, serene aura.
But this scent is as tranquille as exciting. The powdery, popping poppy feels magical, lipsticky - just like the little kisses of first love, the shaking knees and the fluttering butterflies in your stomach.

So for me, this fragrance gives the vibe of the first highschool love, & the laughter of the light-hearted fairies who are just dancing in the milky-misty sunshine carefreely above the late-summer fields ...

emily385

A very subtle, sweet scent. I think it's very beautiful and discrete

Lovewithsky

Im still working on learning how to describe scents so that best I can do for now is what it invokes in me. This smells like that cool, popular girl in high school who drives a BMW just walked into 1st period late with freshly washed hair. It's okay tho because the teacher adores her and she's so charismatic and charming. All the guys wanna flirt with her but shes also pretty down to earth so all the girls love her too. Yummy year round scent IMO.

radicalfires

This is so insanely beautiful. Sprayed it on in store, walked around to find my boyfriend, and he walked me right back to the counter to buy it for me. Not your typical Jo Malone fragrance, but your typical Jo Malone performance unfortunately.

tally2ball

I adore this scent. Especially when the weather starts to turn a little cool, I think it really shines. It's a nice feminine scent for those of us that don't love the heavy florals. However, if I want to add to little more floral to it, I layer it with the Moonlit Chamomile and its just lovely!

Florind

i can't descrube with words.
it smells like sweet purple pepper, if there exist.
top - sexy woman, unique, attractive
middle - (transition to)
base - deep, dark, sweet, masculine, not animalic

amyfjkw

The sales associate in a local Jo Malone store made me test the limited edition one (red bottle) and I fell in love with it instantly.

It's currently soldout but I would cop this the moment it's available. But I'm not sure if the black bottle has the same ingredients as the red one.

amgenus2015

I get a lot of powder from this fragrance once it dries down, but I also smell a distinct sweet floral, which must be the poppy. Together they make for a clean, almost fresh scent. The barley still grounds it, without taking away from the sweetness.

This fragrance does remind me of poppy & barley but it is a sweeter more potent scent v. the soft warmth of poppy & barley. Comparing the two, this is less of something I would wear everyday, perhaps because it is a bit too sweet/clean for me. Even so, it is still a skin/low sillage scent that I imagine only those an arms distance from you could probably smell (which I really enjoy).

AhmedElbahja95

This is a gorgeous perfume. I absolutely love this fragrance. It's a very feminine scent. A must try. Someone else said this and I couldn't agree more; it's about time Jo Malone made some sort of cream or moisturiser of Scarlet Poppy. I give this 8/10.

Lykopa

Powdery in the BEST way. I normally don’t like powder in my scents but it just works here. It’s a sweet dessert type of fragrance, almost vanilla-y but has a nice dash of fruit too. I wonderfully crafted scent.

ridhi0710

One of my favourite scents, for me it's also accessible unlike a lot of niche fragrances. I fell in love with this the day I walked into the JML shop in Glasgow and tried the sample. The perfume goes really well on my skin, it does have a chemical opening but that only lasts for a few seconds before I start smelling like sweet almonds, or almond biscuits, which is perfect! The scent also gives me a bit of a leather-ish note, but it's not animalic, maybe it is the mix of the creamy spicy smell. I later start smelling the milky notes and on my skin, which also smells a bit like coconuts. I'm not a fan of coconut notes but this one is not as strong, as every note in this perfume is blended really well together. Now the heart notes, the Scarlet Poppy, I personally have never smelt a poppy flower but this perfume does have some floral notes, they smell like your usual petals which is lovely, but even if it is a heart note, the poppy note is not very dominant for me, I always smell the amber and the tonka bean. All around, a very-well blended perfume, it makes me feel like a sophisticated, sensual, and edgy woman. It is also not too heavy which is something I prefer.

P_a_p_e_rcuts

This one took me a while to love. I enjoyed it upon first sniff, but it gave me the worst migraine the first time I wore it that I didn’t pick it up again for months. I picked it up again in cooler weather and I love it and don’t get a migraine. To me, it’s got a baked goods/bread quality to it. It’s comforting, close and cozy and makes me feel sexy but in a low-key way. Really like this one, I wear it a lot to cozy up at home and sniff my clothes. Longevity isn’t great at all on clothes but really projects off warm skin. I find this performs better on unmoisturised skin strangely.

jassca99

I think it’s time Jo Malone came out with a hand cream or body lotion of Scarlet Poppy. It would be criminal to not capitalize on this scent profile in a moisturizer form. I would purchase in a heartbeat. Also I’m not sure why Kilian Rolling in Love is still listed as the most similar. Scarlet Poppy is warmer and Rolling in Love is a bit “fresher” or brighter with different florals and tones. Love them both though.

dracena_

Honestly, this a very nostalgic fragrance. It reminds me and my partner of us rummaging through our parent's old make-up. It's giving mom self-care before bed. The most prominent notes for me are tonka bean and heliotrope. It doesn't last the longest on my skin, and I'm sure other reviewers have felt the same way. It's a beautiful smell in all regards, and I was able to purchase it at a decent price on eBay. Happy with the one bottle I have so far, I don't think I would go out of my way to buy another one.

Nichole FZA

When I tried this in store, it immediately reminded me of Hypnotic Poison, I mean the vibe is there. I had high expectation of this scent, like I wanted it for the longest time because it was hyped I guess. Almost blind bought and even asked my sister to buy for me at the airport since it's not available in my city but the moment I tried it in store when I was outstation, my expectation went from 100 to reality 30. This is a good scent, but because I had set it as "unique-great-divine" in my mind where it real life it is lovely but not that unique, so I felt disappointed. Had I not set that expectation, I would have bought this happily at retail price but after I tried it, I feel like I should not buy it at retail price and will only buy it at much discounted price.

ohmydarlingcats

It really smells like “porridge”, but to me it smells like semolina pudding. Sweet and creamy.

Revontuli

I can't say that it's not a beautiful perfume, but this scent just doesn't sit right on my skin. Difficult to describe but...It is there on my skin and I can smell it, but it doesn't "blend in" with my skin. It stays somewhere on top, like a wall I can't pierce through with my nose.

I LOVE fig and fig tree; it represents the beautiful lands where I come from (Mediterranea). As a fragrance note, though, I think it's not my thing.

Catmo

I knew this would be a love just by looking at the notes and I was right. Similar to Gris Charnel or Yesterday Haze. Gives off that same dusty fields and grey skies vibe. The tonka and fig give it some sweetness and the barley makes it interesting, but still familiar.

PerfumePixie87

A sweet fruity floral, only narrowly lent some interest by the barley note which reminds me of a buttery biscuit base of a strawberry cheesecake. Pleasantly likeable and not so in keeping with the Jo Malone range, this smells more like a young designer release. Comforting though and suitable for daily wear, especially for a younger female.

cyclone1391

Ok. My interest is peaked but not sure if I like it. On me, barley very prominent in the opening, but thankfully fades rapidly. Then this is very musky, almost buttery (?) fig. Finally, in the dry down it starts getting stronger and smells like a more wearable BDK Gris Charnal which makes sense being the same perfumer. Quite the scent development. I prefer this to Gris Charnal and find this to be unisex actually.

Cherubina

This is the only JM Fragrance i like. It smells good. Something like a luxury body lotion would smell like.
However, I will not purchase it due to the lack of performance. For that price tag I can get something that smells and performs way better.
What a rip off.

midget11

This is what i expected rolling in love to be (which ended up being awkward nutty biscuits 😂)…Scarlett Poppy is divine! Creamy almond and vanilla- sweet, indulging, warm and smooth id eat it if i could- it lasts a moderate amount of time on my skin and for my standards requires touching up every 2 hours, but it holds on well on clothes…Ive been wearing it to bed because its so cozy

shushkin

What an addictive scent. I knew it smelt familiar. I love Narciso Rodriguez Rouge edp and its so bloomin similar it's extraordinary. Its just more intense and longer lasting. When you check out the note line up its obvious to see why they might smell so similar.
I might have to buy Scarlet Poppy. It makes me go mmmm..... very nice. Moreish.
A well blended floral that is intense yet warm and cuddly. How you feel when you fall in love and its a rose tinted world. You can't keep your hands off each other.
It's heady and you want it to go on forever but of course it can't, so enjoy its deliciousness while you can.
I would wear this when I need to lift my mood. I can imagine fellas enjoying this scent on their ladies.
Good longevity and OK sillage. It doesn't have much sillage on me which is a bit surprising in this 16 degree room. Im a vegetarian so test for yourself. I don't get why folk are talking about Italian biscuits?!

ambervxyjul

Soft, comforting scent. Almost has a play dough vibe but in a gourmand cookies way. As all the other fragrances in this brand are expensive but not long lasting. 2-3 hours of longevity if lucky.

Annabelsnose

I love this so much, its comforting and warm. Gourmand without being a literal cookie smell. But like many, it lasts about 2 hours and then I need to sniff very aggressively to detect it. Still, will likely FB as I love it that much.
Update: The lack of sillage/longevity makes me mad. I dont want someone 12 feet away to smell me, but I would like it to last more than an hour.

scarlett.angel

Very disappointed with the sillage and longevity. Received a sample I've been waiting forever to try. Red Poppies are the national flower of Poland and something I miss dearly, growing everywhere. I was expecting something like TBS Smoky Poppy but with creamy Tonka in that sexy red bottle.

I get all of the notes but they're so weak, and for the price, even more disappointing.

Especially with a name like "intense". The notes are so watered down, I sprayed it all over my wrists and piece of paper, nothing. A skin scent at most. I wish this smelt like JM Velvet Rose & Oud. Now that was strong.

Even my The Body Shop Smoky Poppy smells 10 times stronger than this, and I still have the 30ml bottle of. I need to scrub that one off with soap.

Disappointing as I love red poppies. Would have been great for winter and the red bottle looks nice. That's about it. I checked the JM IG page, and sure enough other customer have complained about the same thing. Typical JM response to contact them.

Day 2: I awake with a splitting headache and everything smells bad on days like this. I can't handle any artificial perfume.

However one? note in particular had clung to my skin, and smells exactly like insect killer. I've only ever encountered this with 2 other perfumes. Oh god I wish I knew what it was, I have scrubbed my wrists but still smell it. Maybe the orris root? No clue. My senses are out of wack, but I still don't smell any creamy florals or imaginary poppies. There's something artificial going on here for sure. Smells like someone sprayed a can of Mortein all over the house and I keep getting wafts of it. That stuff is always an instant headache inducing nightmare. I finally scrubbed it off my skin at least, and applied an all natural lavender-orange hand cream. Perhaps I need to look more into natural fragrances for times like today.

I'm very happy if this works and lasts for you, meanwhile I'll continue to search for the perfect red poppy, European wildlower perfume.

Perfumerism

This fragrance is a work of art. The tonka bean is such a soft, understated vanilla-type smell that leaves a gorgeous trail around you. I get really good projection and longevity from this (despite Jo Malone's reputation for doing otherwise:)

I love this. It smells so romantic and intimate to me.

imegaphone

I love this except for the barley!! Why did they add that note! It is so unnecessary ugh! This fragrance is ruined because of it. It's like someone has kidnapped this put-together woman who smells really great and locked her in a barn. So when she is found Scarlet Poppy Intense is what she smells like.

Allybabaa

This is a perfume I would recommend to people who hate gourmands (like myself) but who want to push the envelope on sweetness. This is the limit for me. If it were ANY sweeter it would be a hard pass, but something in here is addicting and enticing. Different, yet comforting and familiar. Lots of compliments from men when I wear this- they seem to like it. Also, why do I pick up a cherry note in this?? If you wanted to like TF lost cherry and hate it like I do, you might like this. Glad I bit the bullet and got a bottle. Just don’t wear this when it gets hot- would be way too overbearing. It’s a scent that you wear when it’s icy cold outside and you have a spiced chai in your hands while wrapped in a cashmere sweater next to a fire, or on a hot date that you can see yourself cozying up to later

memelordxxv

I fell in love with this one after the first sniff. Reminds me of chamomile or barley tea with lots of milk. That's how it feels when worn too, like drinking tea in the early morning when the sun is beginning to rise, the temperature isn't too hot and isn't too cold. It's soft, delicate, and comforting. It's powdery but doesn't come across as gourmand-levels kind of powdery, whereas fragrances usually smell like talcum powder. Despite how fragile it smells, one spray and the whole room can smell you, I kid you not. It's soft but dense like everyone else had described this. Nevertheless, I love it. Never thought I'd love it this much.

sundayinheaven

My relationship with Scarlet Poppy is a complex one to say the least.

During the past two years I have worn this probably once a month, each time with the intention of finally making up my mind about it. And I never do!

On one hand, this is one of those fragrances that just does it for me. It's not like anything else out there. It's a beautiful feminine scent. And the softness...The softness in SP equates to being wrapped up in a blanket made out of velvety flower petals. Or taking a milky bath with a pet swan. Or receiving a hug from the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio. SP has that story telling element, which is what I'm always looking for in a fragrance. I can't explain it in any other way. If you know you know, that sometimes a perfume just speaks. And I love SP for doing that, and for telling the most beautiful stories.

But on the other hand... it's nauseates me a lot of the time. SP is weirdly dense. Although I wouldn't call this a gourmand, it has the same kind of cloying quality that an overly sweet, heavy gourmand does. I also grow tired of it fairly quickly whenever I wear it. At first sniff I think it's heavenly, but after only a short while I just feel...meh. To me, a telltale sign of being in love with a scent is that you constantly want to catch a whiff of yourself while wearing it. And SP just don't do that for me.

So, I don't know. I might report back in two years, after I've continued to wear SP once a month and maybe then I'll have a verdict. But in all honesty, I think SP will continue to confuse me for the rest of my life.

reemi

I really really like this perfume!!
Its So Creamy and sexy, i need it on a hair mist and an oill roll on too!!

Vellocet

Was i influenced? Yes, incredibly so. To that point that I blind bought it on impulse. I’ve always been drawn to deep red perfume bottles (l’interdit rouge, hypnotic poison amongst others) and since I also love powdery perfumes I just couldn’t stop myself.

Now, scarlet poppy is without a doubt a very beautiful, deep and rich gourmand scent to me. It smells like almonds, vanilla, powdery poppy and heliotrope which is a lovely combination. The barley gives it an interesting wheat like note which is surprisingly good. But the thing is that this is quite similar to hypnotic poison as others mentioned, and doesn’t perform well enough for the pricepoint. Even though this is an intense cologne I can’t smell it after four hours or so. Therefore I would go with hypnotic poison which performs much better than this. Again - they’re similar, not dupes. But I was overall underwhelmed because the hype was enormous. Still though it’s a very sophisticated perfume, but please don’t go in my foot steps and blind buy it. Sample first.

Lolapoop

Very nice juicy /almondy frag . I cannot see however any resemblance to Rolling in Love. I have both . Try them wrist by wrist. Nada. people here are delusional .

Nanalvzpink

One hour of straight POPCORN!

It does last long on the skin and eventually gets pretty, but I don’t want to sit through the popcorn opening.

It’s a no for me.

aflakes

I've been addicted to this fragrance ever since I bought it. It's such the perfect signature scent!!

fiongrance

Does anyone know why there is two versions of SP on Fragrantica?! Have they reformulated?!?!

This smells creamy, soft, cozy, and well blended. When I am not wearing this scent, I spend the entire time picturing the smell and wanting to have it on! It’s addicting.

I was scared when I saw “powdery” on the list, as I usually hate powder smells but it’s more like a dreamy fluffy cloud rather than a grandma powder smell.

svex

Like warm sunshine on a dry beach. Reeds growing through the sand. Soft but not weak. Wear this for walks through the British countryside. Nostalgic. Wear it to see a friend one on one, do not wear in a group setting, or on busy days, for it is too sensitive and delicate. Too sophisticated for me to buy a whole bottle. Hopefully they are still making this when I am 60.

mechawitch

this is a very unique blend that i love having in my collection. fig is one of my favourite notes, so i just had to have it! however note that the fig does not take center stage here: all the notes are seamlessly blended in a delightful, warm, deep concoction. i love what the poppy and the barley bring to the table in this scent; to me, this is a nutty, powdery scent wrapped in a vanilla embrace. as other users have already said, the juice is not beast mode BUT i can definitely catch wafts of it for at least 5 hours after spraying.

Gizem Sevgi Sencan

My signature scent, I'm in löve. Somehow it's coconutty to me like luxurious tanning oil. It's elegant, well blended tonka, orris & amber and goes with every occasion. Not the best but better performance compared to other JM perfumes. Lasts long around at least 8hrs. Nothing similar with Kilian's Rolling in Love which I find sticky sweet. Yeah it's not a performance monster in terms of sillage but I think the scent itself worth the price. Definitely feminine.

JoyousOne

I bought this for my son when he graduated high school. He told me that EVERY TIME he wears this, SOMEONE gives him a compliment. I sd, "EVERY TIME?" He assured me and sd, "Yes! Every single time!

lmnsvgz

A very delicate, powdery soft scent. Very smooth but it doesn't last long.

Emin Kaestner

Right off the bat, I bought it when it was still priced at $130. At that point, it was well worth the price. Now it sits at over $200 at Sephora and I simply couldn't justify spending that much on a perfume like this.

All that aside, the fragrance is amazing. It's rather female leaning, maybe even a tad much for me, but I still enjoy wearing this on some occasions. Though this is what I would want my girlfriend/fiancée to smell like; it's just that incredible of a scent. Performance is outstanding for a Jo Malone fragrance. Easily lasts 10 hours on me and the projection, while very weak, is there.

If there is a discounter that offers the fragrance at under $200, go grab it immediately but if it's at regular price, do yourself a favour and wait until it's being discounted again; don't pay $200 for a cologne-concentrated fragrance.

islandgirlmaranda

I ALMOST blind bought this and I am relieved that I didn't. I went to JM today and was happy to see they had this limited edition still available. There is nothing "wrong" with this fragrance, but I don't feel it's worth the price point. It is a warm scent probably best to be worn at night. It's well rounded and definitely has that make-up, lip sticky vibe to it. I don't dislike it, but I don't need this in my collection. I really didn't feel like there was anything special about this one. Pass for me.

JoyousOne

I smelled this on a man, and asked him what he was wearing. I loved it so much I bought it for my son. I love this on a man, male, older, teen, boy, child, any human being. Its a smooth, nutty sweet, creamy, velvety, warm fun, distinguished, vanilla almond lovely in a purposeful and passionate red bottle. I want to smell this for decades to come.

ChanelNotes

One of my favorites from Jo Malone's EL line. Sadly the longevity is very much like the regular line when this is part of the intense line. I'd say it lasts maybe 1 or 2 hours longer than the regular line and that's still not saying much

Very lovely almondy-helitrope and iris gorgeous. It's a very sophisticated fragrance. It's not super "mature" but not juvenile sweet either, I actually wouldnt call it sweet at all despite presence of tonka etc.

Those who are die-hard fans, might want to check the COO for this, because 1. better discount 2. it might be getting discontinued and you want to get to it before its completely gone.

Aurora25

To me this is a beautiful non perfume perfume, like glossier you or Baccarat rouge. Depth but light. It becomes more a part of your natural scent than screeching out on its own. To me it’s similar to Baccarat in scent but I found Baccarat too heavy. This is like a lighter and fresher version you can wear all day. Reading the other reviews saying it is not strong I over sprayed it and I can still smell it just fine for a long time. No it isn’t beast mode but personally I don’t want beast mode I don’t want everyone (including myself!) to be annoyed by my scent! This will be my every day scent now. This is the one. It’s sophisticated and not cheap smelling. I haven’t read a single bad review of the scent itself so it’s a crowd pleaser. I sprayed it once in a JM boutique and immediately purchased it. It’s so refreshing and comforting at the same time.I bought it in February and am using it now, during the day and I can also see it working for the evening. I’m hoping it works through into spring and summer too as I’ve read other reviews suggesting it might. Just want one signature perfume!

MatchaCat

Best way I can describe this is a buttery, coconut-like opening note with subtle white florals in the background. There's no sweetness. I don't get any powder from this, not like Roja perfumes. It's very beautiful and unique. A very sultry scent. Well-blended. On my skin it lasts a decent amount of time.

Smell: 10 out of 10
Longevity: 8 out of 10
Feminine

For reference, I'm female.

Adjr1087

I will probably drop like 100 reviews for this one, because I just love it so much. I consider this my signature scent. I have already mentioned how gorgeous of a scent this is, but I returned to let you know, this blends and layers beautifully with other fragrances, if you have this, please try it! I also mentioned this is not a dupe for Rolling in Love by Kilian BUT this layers so perfectly with that one, you must try it! Today I non-intentionally layered this with 2 sprays of Mon Guerlain and OMG, what a beautiful blend, it smells EXQUISITE. It gives a creamy feeling to any fragrance you mix this with. Try it with Baccarat too. It is beautiful. I will forever own this incredible fragrance.

kdiddledizzle

Almost passed on even trying this because I didn't like Poppy & Barley. This is nothing like P&B. This scent has a smooth, creamy, old-world make-upy thing going on that P&B just doesn't. Honestly, I find it to be as close to a dupe as is possible for ELDO's Putain des Palaces, only I didn't actually like Putain. I'm not sure why. It wore funky on me and went sort of puke-y smelling after about 30 minutes. Not a good thing. Scarlet Poppy is exactly as Putain opens, only Scarlet wears creamier and almost sweet over time (as opposed to puke-y which Putain wore over time.)

katherina.1

Uhh. This scent is just heavenly. My view on a perfect lipstick-y scent. Just perfect. I do see similarities to HP as others have mentioned, but again completely different. The only down side is the longevity. I get a good silage for about two hours or so, then I have to reapply. It’s on the pricey side so that’s a bummer. Got a 100 ml for Christmas and I’m already halfway through🥴 Needless to say, I will continue to buy it because no other can compare. Not as right now at least.

Edit: Kilian rolling in love, in my point of view is no where near scarlet poppy. Can’t even smell the similarities at all. Rolling in love is a straight up play-doh - scrubber vs scarlet poppy who is so so heavenly. If you don’t like rolling in love and hesitate to try out scarlet poppy because people say they are familiar, don’t worry. They are not at all. Not to me at least.

blake.lee

L’Ange Noir Givenchy reincarnated. Warm, pretty, classic lipstick scent. I enjoy it but I have L’Ange Noir Givenchy and several other lipstick scents so I won’t be purchasing it. I don’t think it smells much at all like Rolling in Love.

gloriaslh

Probably my favourite scent of all time, i do get similar vibes like Hypnotic poison bc it's so creamy but less Vanilla and more refined smelling. The only downside is the longevity, I can't smell it anymore after a short time :( but maybe that's just bc it's a scent you easily get used to
If there was a body cream with the same scent I would immediately buy it to boost the longevity
I also love that very few people have it since it's not easily available everywhere (at least in my country)
9/10 :)

barwench

I enjoy the Poppy and Barley from Jo Malone so I thought I would give this a shot to see if I enjoyed a stronger Poppy scent. I find that the difference in notes is not strong enough or positive enough in a meaningful way.

zind

This is one the very few scent I can't smell on myself after a while. BUT, if I apply in the afternoon I wake up to the scent and it's not like I have to sniff my skin, it's wafting all around me and still going strooong! This is probably noticable to others for many hours, even though you think it's gone.

I am on the shelf here, because I find it very dense and slightly overwhelming. I know many find it sweet, but I somehow miss a bit of sweetness in SP. It's quite heavy. A bit like a cake with tons of cream lathered on top, a dash of vanille essence but not much sugar. It might just be the tonka beans that once again keeps me from loving a perfume. This is more of a lipstick scent to me than many of the classic lipstick scents. Dry, chalky, powdery and fatty lipstick - the old kind. Iris/orris often doesn't read lipsticky to me, but this however, this smells very makeup-y.

So many good things going though and the barley note is very noticable and unique. I'm a bit envious of those who found a love in Scarlet Poppy.

cheleine

It's always interesting reading the many different interpretations people give to scents.
To me this is a soft, comforting and sweet scent. There's nothing loud or sexy or confident about this to me, in fact, I find it to be almost innocent and very cozy. I can see why some people are wearing this to bed. The notes here are interesting and very well blended. Lasts 4 hours tops on my skin and doesn't project well (like most JM). What kind of keeps me from buying a full bottle is the fact that I also get a playdoh note from the vanilla here and I saw other people mentioning it. Will definitely need to retest few more times.

fwuity

soft, caressing, as gently sweet as a rosy-lipped kiss from a will-o'-the-wisp .... and just as fleeting. Wake up in a golden field. Lingering imprint of lipstick on your cheek.

Balletflowers

I blindly purchased this. When I first smelled it, I instantly thought I’ve smelled this before. Something not designer & maybe from Victorias Secret. I came here & saw it compared to Velvet Petals from VS which I have the body mist of. YES! That’s EXACTLY what it smells like! This projects & lasts a really long time.

Adjr1087

My comfort scent. I wear this when I want to feel cozy, warm and relaxed. It is so beautiful and so unique, and completely non-offensive. Stays close to the skin, and does not bother yourself or anyone around you. I will forever have this in my collection as my signature scent.

Astrid's Nosespace

This one took me soooo by surprise!!! ❤️
It’s a super feminine, soft, enveloping, gentle scent. It’s kind of sweet but just the right amount of suddle sweetness… not a juvenile vanilla but a perfectly warming soft kind of vanilla. I guess it’s from the tonka bean here? Not sure..
The Orris gives it this a stunning gentle powdery touch. I can’t really smell the fig but it may be what I’m smelling as a bit of sweetness.

This is just so beautiful! I didn’t want to love this when I sprayed it at the store. Once I had it on my skin, I went ahead and bought it on the spot. And I don’t do that often. I struggle with allergies and a lot of perfumes irritate my vocal cords or my skin. Scarlet Poppy does not bother my allergies at all.

I love wearing this to bed. It makes me feel so comfy.

eaudeaesthetic

Scarlett Poppy is soft feminine powdery, vanilla scents .Lovely, pretty, dainty perfume ,there is something calming in the dry down that makes you want to sniffed it again.Just spray it more if you like to make it last longer ,The scent buble is beautiful, when the wind blows,i could smell it again and it put smile on my face It is mass pleasing like other Jo Malone perfumes .
I pair it with Peony& Blush Suede lotion and wash because they don't have body care line for intense one.

DrRosie

Tested this, after I walked around the mall for a few hours, I kept smelling my arm and it was getting better and it was calling my name. I went to the store an purchased it, I never thought I would buy a Jo Malone fragrance, this one was a great addition to my growing collection.

After wearing this a few times, I have no regret with this purchase. Great fragrance for everyday use. Makes a great fragrance for work.

Meowmeo

I absolutely love it. It is a poppy seed ice cream with a bit of powdery cosmetic touch in the opening.

eau de dosa

Sweet and light fig tonka . Nice frag for cold weather.

>Happy Cat<

Simple, sweet and mellow. To me it lacks depth and interest. Like other review said it is quite flat. I'll pass.

raqketa

my skin heavily amplifies the orris and tonka here. i’m not in love with the result since i was really wanting more fig, heliotrope, and poppy.

Adjr1087

Signature Fragrance worthy. This is on my top 5 perfumes. This smells like a very creamy, expensive, hydrating face moisturizer. It has a cosmetic vibe to it (very probable from the Orris), and I feel this is a scent that wouldn't bother anyone. It doesn't project like crazy or leave a huge scent trail, but it sure lasts all day. If you spray on clothes, it will last even more. This is very intimate, warm, soft and elegant. There is nothing wrong with this, I love it! Also, this doesn't smell like Rolling in Love BUT it has the same scent vibe. They are family but not siblings or cousins. They are distantly related.

Perfumeluva1744

Nothing like Kilian Rolling in Love. Warm, soft, powdery, slightly sweet, yet floral. Very nice addition to my collection.

AnlisaC

I love this! I just matched it with a B&BW lotion Hibiscus Peach and it brings out the scent beautifully! It’s in my top 5 fragrances for life! the notes are right up my alley! Barley is such a great comforting note. Fig, Poppy and Heliotrope are so well mixed together! Longevity is good when oversprayed and also on my clothes, sillage is a compliment getter and trails so nicely behind you. This is unisex and everyone can wear this! It is also a year rounder for me.
Highly Recommended 12/10 that’s how good it is!

violeteme

Despite the perfume is quite nice, I find the sweetness of it very flat. Bare, cloying tonka. I think it would benefit from a hint of spices like cardamom or nutmeg.

amanda0727

LOVE at first sniff. This smells like very realistic almonds lightly accentuated with some floral notes (i think its the poppy??). Its not that typical synthetic almond found in most cheap almond scented bath products, but it smells like ACTUAL almonds! Amazing! But for the price, the strength and longevity is so dissapointing! Gone in an hour :(. Just hoping they come out with an EDP.

angel1120

I'm surprised cherry isn't listed in the notes, I definitely detect that in this fragrance. Almond as well. It's a pretty and sophisticated scent, great for date night as another user mentioned. Unfortunately, my partner is meh about it. He says it smells like sage on me :( I don't get sage, but I definitely pick up something spicy. Longevity is average I'd say.

notnati

Beautiful fragrance, gorgeous bottle, my favourite scent profile. Orris, fig, and tonka? Sign me up! But it doesn't matter. Longevity is just simply *not there*. I get 20 minutes, 30 if I layer with Molecule 01, after that, all I get is the Molecule. Nothing helps. I don't need beast modes in my collection, I like to use a few different perfumes each day so I'm perfectly fine with moderate longevity but here it's non existent, at least for me. But the scent itself is gorgeous. Wish it lasted longer!

MaggieCN1

I smell the fig and tonka when it drys down. Longevity is typical of Jo Malone’s Cologne Intense line. I don’t find any of the Jo Malone Cologne Intense fragrances disappointing. I have received several complements on it. Red bottle is beautiful. An underrated fragrance that is worth owning if you enjoy fig.

antoniov

This gives me vibes similar to honey and crocus by JM which was discontinued. Might work well as a replacement if I need one.

samra9

a beautiful, warm and cozy smell. i personally find scarlet poppy to last ages on the skin. it smells biscuity and cherry-like and i often compare it to a cherry bakewell. i adore this perfume and i find it smells closely to lost cherry by tom ford.

jesz

Beautiful. I don't normally like Jo Malone fragrances. My nose just disagrees with most of the company's offerings. But this? I found this one beautiful. I'm won over.

EternalLight

Smells like Sweet Pea by Bath and Body Works - at least the sample I got did.

clintjr82

Review by a man. What a scent, scent of the year. An Awesome scent for women. Incredible. Red is one of my favorite colors so the red bottle stood out and I went to it expecting it to be all show no go. Man was I wrong. Its fresh, sexy and sweet/gourmandish. The poppy note is striking. The scent is blended very well. People are sleeping on this one. Classic worthy, if Jo creates an Edp or Extract parfum version, which she should. I bought this scent instantly for my mother and woman. My nose is great I see, she get compliments all the time. Try it or buy it!

OTA Mom

Sweet floral Cheerios.

ScentBliss555

The last two times I wore this I mostly got barley and non-sweet, creamy notes. I haven't reached much for it since but I wouldn't get rid of this.
The creamy almond and heliotrope notes really shine when they stand out. Such a beauty and for me @ least the bottle I have gives me no longevity issues. It lasts so long on my skin which I can't say for most perfumes.
Beautiful scent but may require giving it more than one chance.

smellworthy

This smells just like animal crackers, like Mexican pound cake, like a vanilla-scented body lotion.. It's such a lovely sweet musky almond scent and I love it. Something you'd wear with red velvet fabric. I think the price point is a bit much tho since the longevity isn't the best, but that's JM for you.

Chinello23

Love at first sniff for me! The opening spray WOWED me. But then, even on paper it didn’t last - I can’t remember what it smells like. If it lasts terribly on paper, I can’t imagine it lingering on skin. So tragic - especially since it’s supposedly ‘intense’.

AnitaHendricks

My God! This is a beauty! This scent reminds me of Play-Doh, but it's fancy Play-Doh. I smell a powdery, soft vanilla and a creamy almond scent. There's tonka bean for a deeper edge, there are subtle floral notes and there's something I can't put into words! This perfume is super comforting and I actually want to cuddle with it! There's also a sexy side. I love this sexy Play-Doh!

Cynthia30

This is a completely watered down version of "Navitus The Embrace", which is supposed to have a sesame seed note. However, Navitus is more masculine and can also turn a bit weird on your skin.

Kinga_

I fell in love with it at first when I sampled it on a paper. It smelled so creamy, soothing and comforting; just like you'd imagine a poppyseeds to smell like. I was thinking about buying a bottle with no further testing as it swept me off my feet.

Thank God I didn't, and tested it on skin as it smelled very different. Synthetic and a bit weird, just different and definitely not worth buying a bottle. The longevity was meh too.

moonkhaleesi

This smells good, but I can barely even smell it on myself even when I’m putting my whole nose into my wrist. I feel like I’ve drenched myself in this but I don’t even get to enjoy it. It’s like a vanilla lipsticky scent which btw does not smell like rolling in love or gg.

JamesGamez

Date night type of fragrance. Confident/bold/sexy/mysterious.

Powdery/creamy vanilla, and almond. Has a lipstick type of vibe to it. Smells sweet but not overbearing. Unisex but leans more feminine.

10/10

Sadly longevity, and projection isn’t the best.

Kotikina

This was love from first sniff. Is poppy a fantasy scent? Maybe the flower per se is, but this definitely smells like poppy seed cake or how one reviewer described below - milk soaked pastry. It is a fantasy scent in terms of how I imagine a field of poppies would smell during summer - intoxicating, almost narcotic, soothing and smooth at the same time. A bit almondy, too. Very addictive, very feminine and alluring. The colour of the bottle is matching perfectly, it just smells red :)

jassca99

Wow! Just adding to my already in-depth review below. This stands on its own, of course, but adding one spray of Kayali Vanilla 28 over Scarlet Poppy brings out the brown sugar even more. Like a warm brown sugar, tonka, figgy, vanilla almond milk poured in oatmeal/barley. I don’t get any cherry like some suggest, not even accented with the almond, heliotrope note. It would compliment a cherry fragrance however and a brown sugar vanilla like Vanilla 28 mentioned earlier, which is great for bed now. I’ll definitely try the combo again outside in the fall. A very cozy, comfortable signature scent that works every-time when I have no idea what to wear and don’t want to feel sick from my fragrance. Not enough to be “sexy”, but also for a different vibe layering with Tom Ford’s lost cherry is everything! Again, alone this reflects me as a person and on my skin it clings on forever lol but I can see it not lasting for a lot of people. Regardless, I hope Jo Malone does the right thing and never discontinues this.

jadorelune

This fragrance smells like my soul's reflection. I will always have it in my collection. This is smooth, elegant, and unique.

Duaham

I absolutely love love this fragerance! I've gone to sephora to try it out twice now and each time I am even more in love. The dry down is lovely and quite different than the initial spray. I don't yet own it but it's high up on my list of to buys.

Sh4no4h

I was looking for the comment that it smells like brown sugar and fig, but gone niche lol. I quite enjoy it.

twoski

At first sniff this was kind of a basic smell to me. Generic tonka-vanilla-heliotrope vibes. I smelled the test strip later and something came out in the drydown that really caught my attention. Something vaguely floral and fruity. Maybe fig nectar.

In any case, this one is quite nice. A mass pleasing vanilla-ish fragrance. Suitable for a woman i think.

My beef with jo malone is their fragrances have shite longevity. This one might fare better than their others since it's more highly concentrated i think.

andrUTZA

I have very mixed feelings around this jem. I simply adore the opening: waxy, lipstik, body butter texture. I thought ar first that is going to be one of my favourites. And that bottle...amazing. But after just 10 minutes on my skin it turned very sweet in a sugary way.. not soft vanilla like I expected but sugar, and I realy dislike that note. So I will give a 10 for the creativity cause it took me in a field of imaginary scented poppyes with waxy petals but unfortunatly the drydown was not my cup of tea.

Artio

I absolutely love this fragrance, It was an instant love. It's soft and creamy, like a body lotion or face cream. Smells clean like you aren't wearing any perfume just a stronger body lotion.

Candd

This is how seraphs smell.

charcharl

This is very unique. A sales assistant in a Sephora in Paris first recommended it to me and I couldn’t stop thinking about it after. I don’t like any of the other Jo Malone’s but this one really stands out to me. I usually like sweet vanilla scents but don’t pick up any vanilla or much sweetness in this at all. To me, it smells elegant, classy, almost round. Reminds me of when I was a child and I used to watch my mum get ready for work, put on her red lipstick and blusher. So much so that I bought her a bottle too.

ekowala7

This fragrance is absolutely out of control. It is absolutely gorgeous. My jaw literally dropped the first time I smelled this in my local SEPHORA. I sprayed it on, and WOW.

The easiest way I can describe this is, if a sunscreen fragrance was made for winter. Hear me out though, I do NOT like sunscreen scents. But this smells like an expensive, clean sunscreen, maybe even a face cream, but if sunscreen didn't heat up in the sun and the smell dried down into a clean, elegant scent on your skin. Then, mix this base with the creamiest, delicious tonka you've ever smelled (similar tonka note to that in 'Myrrh & Tonka') and a light, powdery (not powder powder, light and fluffy powder) floral.

Poppy is an imaginary note, and that is where I feel I am getting the sunscreen (read: skin cream, perhaps) scent. I cannot get enough. It is sweet, warm, creamy, and a top 3 in my collection currently. Plus, that red bottle? Show stopping!

For Jo Malone, this is the best performer in my collection of around 10. This lasts ALL day, if sprayed heavily on skin and a little bit on clothing. Silage is arm's length. You WILL get compliments.

Overall 9/10, I cannot wait to bathe myself in this, this upcoming fall and winter.

SailorV

Mmmh, a grainy cake gourmand with powdery florals. Due to the tonka and heliotrope it has an almondy touch, but there's more to it. I love the barley note in this, it's really evocative and gives the scent a realistic bakery accord. The fig ads a subtle touch of ripe fruitiness, but it might also have a milky facet to it. There is definitely something in this that makes me think of a milk-soaked pastry, maybe it's the milkiness of fig or maybe just a general impression I get from all the soft, sweet, creamy notes. Even though there is no vanilla listed, I find this vanillic.
In the drydown the iris powder comes out and dusts the whole scent in a layer of fresh, floral powder, so it never turns heavy or too sweet and has a certain dry coolness to it. This makes Scarlet Poppy a lighter, airier kind of gourmand that can easily be worn all year round, even on warmer days. I don't get the lipstick vibe some other reviewers mentioned though, on my skin the barley and tonka win over the iris.

I have never met a poppy that had a scent, so I'm not sure if this is true to the name at all. I could imagine that a poppyseed and almond cake would smell like this, but honestly, that could also be the power of suggestion.

The only thing I object to is that this is marketed as a Cologne Intense. It's not weak, but not really intense either, don't expect wonders from this. Scarlet Poppy would have been a perfect fit for the English Fields collection JM had a couple years ago.

Icaruswashere

Sooo addictive. I'm not a huge fan of vanilla scents, so i didn't think I'd like it. This was a blind buy for me so I was surprised to find myself wearing it literally everyday. It is so addictive and fun, it's giving me fun and confident vibes. I can't get over how delicious it smells, if someone wore this walking past me I'd definitely turn to look. The tonka beans really shine in my opinion, and the heliotrope embraces it just right. Just don't overspray, it might get crazy. If you love vanilla scents, I would 100% recommend and if you don't, I recommend it anyway.

Cherry_Darling

I was not expecting this to smell this way! I was impressed, very powdery, a little nutty or rather like popcorn, yay for fin du monde comparison *without the smoke. A touch almondy, play doh esque, grainy definitely feeling the barley here. I would compare it to kenzo amour too as it has the same vanilla play doh vibe, although this is more nutty grainy and less plastick *that one also has rice notes so similar in vibe but this is better. (Anyone know what poppy smells like?)

I really wanted to like this. The bottle it stunning and I enjoy this scent profile. Soft, smooth, almondy, a bit creamy and the perfect whisper of something floral. But on my skin it’s so close to Hypnotic Poison it didn’t make sense. Especially when the longevity and sillage are nearly non-existent. Not really worth it to me, which really is too bad. If you are very sensitive to strong perfumes this will work for you. Good for all seasons, day and night.

stargirlinterlude

I’ve sampled this perfume many times and I’m seriously considering purchasing it. It’s the most lovely vanilla with hints of floral. On my skin it’s reminiscent of dior poison, but way better. It doesn’t have that playdoh-esque after smell that i get with a lot of vanilla perfumes (just me???). The only problem I have with this fragrance is the longevity! It only lasts a couple hours on my skin :(

trevorstilerocks

This is where the fig shines, light, powdery due to the orris root. Fleeting,. Almost smells like pampered skin. Very expensive smelling. Leans towards on the feminine side, but it can be masculine if paired with incense and cedrat or oud and bergamot.

Anthonyyy

beautifully soft-sweet, comforting scent which in my opinion does not have ANY similarities to Rolling in love by Kilian and thank god for that cause I cannot stand it, imo unisex leaning a little feminine but personally as a man can easily wear it

jassca99

This was surprisingly a successful blind buy! It’s almost been 2 months of wear and I’ve been loving it more and more. I’ve been struggling to find a fragrance with almond that I like and this is one of the few that I fell for, even though almond isn’t officially listed as a note (heliotrope). I like Rolling in Love too, it’s a bit more “fresh” and goes in a completely different direction. The bad longevity of Kilian’s is also why I chose Scarlet Poppy, which doesn’t disappear in a few hours and is less pricey making it more worth it. Scarlet Poppy does start softer, closer to the skin, but the longer it sits on the skin, the more it warms up and radiates. The projection gets better as you wear and this honestly lasted me a while. It lasts days on my clothing and all day on skin with great sillage. It is a little heavier and sweeter because of the fig and tonka bean notes.

I’m happy the barley isn’t prominent as sometimes that can bother me, like in TF Vanille Fatale opening-mid, but here it’s in the background and sort of gives off "sweet almond milk in a bowl with grain cereal and figs" vibes. Or brown sugar oatmeal with almond milk. The fig is beautiful in the dry down mixed with the Tonka and I’m so happy I purchased this instead of VC&A Santal Blanc because I had way too many sandalwood based scents to add another one at a higher price...and the violets turned sour on me sometimes. Also why I sold my NR Poudree because I had to wait for the dry down to get sweetness from the Tonka, only catching whiffs in the wind.

SP has a natural sweetness from the beginning and creamy orris (iris root) that presents as pressed powder, rather than just a cloud of powder. SP is just a great, and different, addition to my collection for the perfect sweet, creamy, powdery but not too powdery (thank goodness), slightly fresh, milky almond, musky fragrance. Everyday soft gourmand scent. Sometimes you just crave that instead of sticky sweetness. Really nice in breezy, warm/cool weather.

LaUna

Soft suede, muted powder and floral accords. Reminiscent of Rouge by Dita von Teese.
Cinema and red velvet curtains. Very mellow, close to skin scent. Intense soft musk.....if that makes sense. It has warmth to it. It's kind of like stay at home on a cold day with hot cup of cocoa and cuddle, or date night. Perfect for date night. The scent brings you inward and makes me content. If I had to describe it in two word, Velvet and Love :)

Yaranimer

I smelled this in store and i FELL. IN. LOVE. this is such a nice date night scent during the winter. This should not be over sprayed!! its can be quite over powering already so 3 sprays should do the trick. if you like lost cherry by tom ford i reccomend sampling this.

onaona

I have to admit, until recently I thought I had scratched my initial itch regarding Jo Malone fragrances years ago. I sampled several, then moved on, deciding they were not my cup of tea. The names...the bottles...none of it. They just seemed so verrrry specific (Nutmeg & Ginger or worse Lime Basil & Mandarin). I was just waiting for one to come out called Salt & Pepper. The bottles seemed far more utilitarian than necessary and the notion of mixing and matching fragrances holds no appeal for me. So an entire house which encourages layering was never going to be for me.

THEN Scarlet Poppy caught my eye and not only does she smell exactly like the name, in typical Jo Malone London style, Scarlet Poppy also smells exactly like, its anything but utilitarian, bottle.
It's surprisingly fun to wear. It's sweeter than I typically prefer, courtesy of the tonka bean, which arrives early on my skin, the, heliotrope and barley (I think). I get more poppy or what I think of as the scent meant to represent the flower, (I only know it in fragrance) than most voters here on the site. It's definitely a reddish fragrance for me, not spicy, it just feels spirited somehow. A slightly peppery orris doesn't hurt. I don't smell much fig, but I'm not sure how it would mesh well with the other notes. The longevity of SP is moderate with projection a little closer than I would like. I wanted this one to dance around the room :)

Scarlet Poppy with it's perfectly sweet floral notes, spirited feel and adorable little red bottle is finally MY Jo Malone.
I'm just happy it wasn't named Ambrette & Orris & Tonka Bean & Heliotrope & Poppy &.......

VeronicaMa

This scent is amazing! It reminds me of Kilian's Rolling in Love and I like layering the two. The longevity is poor but I enjoy it while it last.

AK2

This is not alt all what I imagined it would be, it smells like old lipstick that has been left in the drawer for some time next to a vanilla smelling candle. Very powdery, sweet and makeupy. I would place it in the same category as annick goutal tenue de soiree or etoile d’un nuit. The poppy and orris are quite dominant which I don’t care much for. I believe the comparisons with rolling in love or lost cherry are laughable really, there’s nothing in common between them other than the red bottles.

Sheckie9

On paper, I LOVE this scent. On my skin, things turn terribly wrong for me. It turns to an Iris/Orris bomb and gets very waxy, lipsticky, powdery. I get almost zero vanilla or sweetness. It's a stunner on paper, but my skin pulls only the Iris/Orris.

EDIT: after this has dried down for about 45 minutes, I am now getting more florals, vanilla and sweetness. It still pulls more waxy and lipsticky on my skin, but this is drying down much better than the opening. (phew! relief...)

itsmeirem

I describe this as Bella Hadid's perfume... Powdery, milky, pure but not whitish. Perfume bottle and its color perfectly suits the smell. It smells beige and red. Perfect for 20's -30's. Perfect for fall and winter. But suitable for spring too.

Rimazy

Beautiful but very serious. Has that middle eastern malls vibe. Pretty linear, ambrette is very dominant on my skin. Very long lasting. Over priced.

tendayslate

I LOVE this fragrance on paper, however on my skin it smells like straight up oatmeal. I was so close to buying it beforehand. Not a safe blind-buy

Raluko111

There are several bottles of perfume and EDT sitting in my vanity, but they are all just there to fill different needs: nonintrusive scent for the office, winter perfume, summer scent, gift that doesn't match me but can't be returned, etc. The only two I truly love unconditionally are Annick Goutal's Le Cheverfeuille and Le Feu D'Issey Light, the only thing Issey Miyake ever did right in the fragrance department, and also the one that got discontinued. I've been searching for hints of Le Feu in every perfumery, at all price points, but always coming away unsatisfied. Until today when I passed by the Jo Malone counter and caught a whiff of Scarlet Poppy. While I like some Jo Malone scents, I never bother splurging, because nothing I've ever tried lasts more than 2 hours at most on my wrists or clothes. This one, however, I could not resist because of the uncanny resemblance to Le Feu: while it lacks the citrusy spark that Le Feu has, it still contains that milky amber intimate powdery incense hue. It smells expensive, but not loud or vulgar. The poppy-vanilla bouquet gives it sweetness that makes it sensual and almost lactonic, like Le Feu. It is not a perfect dupe, it has its own personality that sets it apart from Le Feu, but I like that. And one more piece of good news: it lasts longer than your typical JM fragrance and the silage, when sprayed on clothes, is significantly better. If anyone else has found a closer dupe for Le Feu, I would be very grateful for recommendations, so please don't hesitate to DM me.

ssss4ssss

Okay I have no way to even begin describing this one, as I normally don't gravitate towards the notes in this perfume. But I love it - it remind me of an expensive woman in hers 30s-50s, shopping at a designer store. I have no idea why, but that's all I can think of. It went straight to my wishlist!

chanceuxlilas

There’s also iris and cedarwood in the official pyramid. This is one stunning scent, I wear it when I want to feel feminine & receive extra compliments.

Dracarys83

This was my favorite scent to wear over the last summer. My boyfriend said it smelled like fruit loops. 😂 I’m kinda surprised that nobody mentioned that it slightly has this sweet makeup/lipstick thing going on. I noticed that right away. Kind of like Guerlain French Kiss. I’m not sure how I’m even picking that up given the notes? Possibly because of the Iris I can smell? I don’t see it listed but Iris is most definitely in it and I do love Iris. Anyway….this is gorgeous! It’s a purple flower powdery fragrance amped up with poppy that is sweetened from delectable tonka giving it an almost Vanilla like scent. This was another one that I would get a lot of compliments on when I did wear it. Sillage and longevity are both moderate. I would buy this again and again. Beautiful! 🤩

Two_Strikes

What a gorgeous scent but what a disappointment! This scent is beautiful but it doesn’t last at all ! I would spray before bed and wake up with not even a hint or linger of anything on and for it’s price I expected better.

Plus to me this smells very similar to Tom ford lost cherry and that does last on me!

missmaddiemac

A powdery, well-blended, gorgeous vanilla/tonka fragrance! It attracts compliments better than any other Jo Malone frag—I’ve had people chase me down to ask what I was wearing on more than one occasion. I didn’t like Rolling in Love too much so it’s weird that so many people say they’re near identical but that’s just me and my nose. I kind of get the same vibe as Hypnotic Poison but have yet to meet anyone that thinks the same lol

JK731

Lovely fig/barley--slightly sweet but not gourmand by any means. Slightly woody and dry, but not too much, just enough. Very pretty, but I do wish it lasted longer and projected more (but that's to be expected from Jo Malone fragrances). There is a slight resemblance to or hint of Gris Charnel (or it leans towards that DNA scent profile), but they're not the same; you can absolutely own both and it won't be redundant.

6.75-7/10 for me

Ash2005861

This smells so beautiful and sexy at the same time. Unique as well! I’d say it’s a signature or it can be a going out perfume. This is not for a shy girl, this woman has money, knows what she wants, bold personality but she’s not screaming for attention yet she can be intimidating yet so alluring. age range I’d say is 25+

Longevity: on my skin I’d say 8 hours. On clothes I smell it forever!

BlueSand

Beautiful and cozy scent. After about 2.5/3 hours, it becomes an absolute skin scent beauty that is creamy, almondy and musky. Very seductive, romantic, poetic and is worthy of a signature scent.
The only Jo Malone fragrance I love.
(haven’t tried the other intense cologne line yet, the other normal ones are dull to me)

Bubbles1964

The biggest surprise here was how dominant the fig note became in the dry down. A Christmas gift from my best friend, I had no idea what was in Scarlet Poppy Intense but when I first sprayed, about an hour later I clearly picked out the fig note. And that fig note is realistic and fleshy.

I’ve enjoyed my sample that came with the bottle, as I have not actually opened my new perfume. I’m on the fence, as I really like it but I don’t think I love it.

Scarlet Poppy intense is very pretty, soft…a sweet gourmand. But the strong tonka note fails to hold my interest. It’s one of the difficulties of owning so many bottles: I love receiving perfume as a gift but I rarely keep what’s given to me.

Nicyoung

I cant tell you how many times I tried this and passed it becuase it was " like so many others I like" but now that I own it, its my favorite to wear every day. Its my favorite notes put together perfectly. And even though it smells like others, none are done to this perfection in my opinion. Its a creamy almond vanilla, almost makes you think of a very light vanilla cherry maybe bec of the almond or the color but not like Lost Cherry or Rouge Smoking or other cherry frags at all.. Just so well rounded, almost like a lotion or something but I will buy a back up bottle soon.. Im super in love with this. I hope this stays around for a long time :)

Btw, I cant stand Rolling in Love, so the comparison is curious, although I get the similar notes, that would be a good example of notes put together unbalanced and wrong to me, vs, a masterpiece when put together in a more balanced way XO

MissAnnette

This reminds me a lot of the drydown of MM Lipstick On. I would have to test them side by side and update my review here. I much prefer Lipstick On because it’s more interesting compared to the linear sweetness of this.

emma katherine

If you want a dupe, try the Vanilla Pumpkin range from The Body Shop. I love that range and the initial smell of this scent is identical to it.
I thought I would love this, I love fig notes, the vanilla pumpkin range and JM's Poppy and Barley, but I returned my bottle the next day. I do not understand this fragrance, every 5 minutes I felt different about it. I am a Jo Malone apologist, I love how simple their fragrances are. This is NOT a simple fragrance to me. The vanilla, poppy and barley mixture sounds ideal so maybe it's the other notes in this fragrance but I did not like it. I sprayed it in-store and bought it immediately because I have been searching for a soft but warm vanilla scent. I thought I had found it, the perfect autumn and winter fragrance. After ten minutes of walking around, I was regretting my decision, all I could smell was day-old cereal. But then after another ten minutes, I loved it and that initial vanilla smell came back. This went on for about 5 hours until I scrubbed it off. But it wouldn't scrub off. Every issue anyone has had with JM fragrances and longevity, depth, development and sillage can be put to rest with this fragrance. I could not get this smell off my wrist. I exchanged it for two 30ml bottles so all's well that ends well.
I definitely understand why people love this. I think I would too if it didn't change on my skin so much. It is a really beautiful smell but it is quite mature. As a 21yo who has a preference for fresher smells, this isn't it for me right now, maybe in five years. It could make for an interesting Valentine or Christmas present as long as you keep the receipt. Try this one in-store and wear it for about an hour before buying it for yourself.

perfumesniffer

Bread dough.
With caraway seeds.
A less elegant L’Artisan Bois Farine.
Not similar to Rolling in Love or CH Good Girl.

mistergeorgeyan

This is a perfume that spells "Material Girl" (Yes, just like Madonna's song). Its a quite unique scent, reminds me of lipstick as soon as i put it on. Its quite "Vanilla-ry", creamy/ powdery, heavy and a bit sweet.. (More like a autumn/ Winter scent.) Gives you a final touch no matter what kind of look you are going for -- Whether you are a guy or a girl, this one would bring out the sassy-ness in you.

AndraLau

I got this perfume as a birthday gift, and I am so glad!!! what a wonderful surprise! this perfume opens so soft is like smelling a bunch of white flowers mixed in the most soft and silky vanilla cream, it is very delicate yet after some minutes she gets louder but in a pleasant way, I can see this scent being weared all year round, but I would personally use it more in the springtime, I think is the perfect elegant fragrance to a nice fresh sunny day. the dry down is very unique, u can feel the figs, vanilla and tonka bean mixed in a very different way, I cannot wait to wear this perfume soon. The sillage is remarkable, it lasted on me till the next day and the projection was quite impressive for such a delicate scent. I recommend this one with no hesitation, but if you still are not convinced, then sample it first or go to any mall that carries this one and smell it, I really think you would not be dissapointed.

correspondencepersonal

I just sampled this briefly while at the mall this past week. This is one to explore further.
It has a classic red lipstick type vibe.
Upbeat, I need to sample this further.

Try this, see what you think -
It isn't the vibe that I typically seek for perfumes, but it may just be my chemistry and taste.
This wasn't bad, but was just not my thing.
However, this could be good with the right chemistry and someone who prefers this type of perfume.

Cmlake89

This smells like brown sugar and fig from bbw. However, it is smoother, much more skin adapting, I don't adore it for the price tag. Still prefer some cheaper perfumes with better wear like Mon Guerlain and Burberry for women. This is a fragrance anyone from 7-107 could wear. It's just a subdued/barely sweet scent.

Hojoko46584

I’m just gonna say it. The second I smelt it I knew it. This is how perfect milf boobs smell like in my imagination. Creamy, smooth, lactonic, vanillaie, with just a bit of sweetness. It’s perfect. This is why it’s so addictive.

In my opinion, this scent meant to have a lighter sillage. It’s for the moment when they get close enough and get a whiff of the scent unexpectedly, and want to sniff more. Or rub their face in it...

kimberly.b.stone

Intriguing, classy, beautiful, wearable.

At first spray, a little whiff of pepper. I don't get buttered popcorn. This is all about ambrette, but more airy, less heavy than a lot of ambrette. Fairly linear. I've never smelled a poppy, so I can't tell you if it has any poppy. The fig adds sweetness, but not too much. Not foody. I usually deplore anything powdery but it's so easy, so natural here. I understand people finding this cozy and cuddly, but I don't. To me, it evokes a feeling of being perfectly comfortable in your naked skin. This is a very quietly confident scent, and it feels so right to wear it.

I could get addicted. That's OK. Sometimes a passion is worth paying for.

rumba

Smells like lipstick for me.Great! I bought 2 bottles

Chesco

Creamy vanilla candle + Butter Cookie + Nuttiness + Musk Powder + Green Leaf + Poppy Floral + faint Barley + White Pepper

A Killian 'Rolling In Love' clone.
Awesome cuddle-scent gourmand frag!
It's biggest downfall is it doesn't project, therefore it falls into cuddle-scent genre because the dna is so good.
Lasts a long time, but only really a upclose & personal strength.

Linear frag, opening is the same as end dryoff.
The star note here and imo Jo Malone's signature scent is this Barley note they use, it's earthy, yummy and fantastic!!
It's yummy scent dna is a winner, but like most Jo Malone frags i need more projection!
The end-dryoff smells incredible too! Great frag from start-to-finish!! <3

Price is really expensive for such low projection at $255 CND + tax.
Never smelt anything in the world of frags that smells quiet like it, that barley note is so earthy-yummy - it's addicting! Hardcore signature scent worthy. Slept-on by the community (for now).
This is a beautiful frag, and a HUGE hit for the Jo Malone company.

MASTERPIECE!
5/5 Woofs!

julheart

Musky floral, kind of bright like a white or purple flower, and a richer fruity fig drying down into powdery warm almond and vanilla. This is pretty though almost too sweet for me personally. Definitely a crowd pleaser - I got a couple of compliments. Gorgeous bottle.

angx

I really like this perfume. It is warm, peppery and floral, really gives me poppy smell vibes indeed! It projects strongly and lasts very long on me, especially on clothes, I can smell it the next day too. It does not change a lot from spraying to dry down, which I do not mind at all. I believe it is very versatile, can be worn on warm but also cold days/nights. Happy I got a big bottle of this!

rosegoldanything

Creamy popcorn that turns into some kind of flower butter with hint of vanilla. After an hour smells like magazine paper page that once had a perfume tester on it.

luz

My nose gets a mix between Hypnotic Poison and Miss Dior Cherie, however this is more subtle and elegant. I definitely like it.

BondGirl

Unique scent for perfume. When I was a girl, my father would smoke a pipe - French Vanilla Cherry Tobacco. This reminds me of that and leather oxblood wingback chairs, mahogany paneled libraries, pin stripped women's suits and drinking tea from fine china. It is refined, soft, warm and deep all at the same time. Lady Boss meets Downton Abby. I bought this as a blind purchase and have no regrets. The red bottle is also stunning on my dressing table. I would like to see Jo Malone create accompanying bath and body products for this scent. Keeper.

clairesque

This may be one of the most unique fragrances I've tried. It is so delicious and intoxicating. The opening is very popcorn-y. Super buttery with a hint of smokiness. The smokiness fades out quickly but the dry down smells like... you're eating a pastry in a cafe and there are fresh flowers in a vase on the table. Buttery, slightly powdery, and the fig doesn't come through as a true fig but as a honey or nectar. I absolutely cannot stop sniffing this fragrance on myself when I'm wearing it and I think I'm going to end up splurging on a bottle. Projection is strong for an hour or two, then it gradually fades to a skin scent but I've had it linger 8 hours or more on me.

Edit: Some of this rubbed off on my sweater and I can still smell it on fabric after several days, and it smells HEAVENLY. The smell on fabric is more feminine-leaning, a sweet and powdery floral; it also has more of a milky lactonic accord rather than being buttery.

ckorp8

Got this as a replacement for one of the JM perfume I ordered but the shop ran out of. It’s a blind purchase chosen because it’s slightly more expensive than the bottle it’s replacing and for it’s beautiful red bottle. Really wonder what a poppy smells like. Can anyone tell me if its a good representation of a poppy scent? Not familiar with the individual notes in this perfume so I don’t know which note it is that I love from this bottle. This perfume is sweet but not too syrupy. Seems like vanilla ought to be listed here but not too distinct. The longevity and silage are not too good like most JM but better than the average I’ll say (1-2hrs then fades to skin scent on clothing for about 7hrs). Very happy that it works rather well on my skin unlike some others that just disappeared all together. As always, longevity and silage always perform better on clothings. For gents, it might help to layer it with other perfumes to make it less flowery. But personally I don’t mind it as it is.

GracieLulu

I was randomly shopping with my daughter last weekend and we happened into a shop that sold Jo Malone products. I had heard of them but never smelled them and was intrigued by the 'simple' scents that you can layer. I get lots of headaches from perfumes (so far I have tested 3 Jo Malone scents and none of them have triggered a headache). So after smelling many of the fruity and floral scents I decide to purchase Wild bluebell (which I like and will review after this). As I'm leaving the store the sales woman asks me if I tested Scarlet Poppy. I hadn't even noticed it to be honest. I removed the top of the bottle and gave a quick sniff (not trusting my nose completely after smelling many different scents) and knew it smelled like something I would like. I didn't catch the vanilla at first (if I had that might have deterred me as I'm not such a vanilla girl). It smelled sensual, sophisticated and not so complex that it would bother me. The woman happily created a sample for me to try and out of the store I went. Well today I tried that sample (had to test out the Wild Bluebell first) and let me tell you - I don't think I'll be able to get back to that store fast enough to purchase this fragrance! I'm torn about whether this is more suited to fall/winter, because of the warmth of the scent, but I think it could be worn year round. The first thing I detect with this scent on my skin is the fig and heliotrope, there is a hint of vanilla on me but it is pretty subtle and easy to miss after a while i can smell more of the tonka but it isn't over powering. There is nothing cheap smelling about this fragrance (at least IMO). It smells classy, comfortable and sexy. I love it. Might easily be my new signature fragrance - hope my husband likes it too (he hasn't smelled it on me yet).

Chelsey325

Signature scent worthy! It’s the perfect everyday scent. Not over powering, but lasts a long time. This is the only perfume I’ve ever blind bought (the bottle got me), and it wasn’t an immediate love but rather a like. However, the more I wear this, the more I LOVE it. It leaves a beautiful trail behind when you walk. My sister-in-law wore it the other night, and I could smell the perfume after she had walked down the stairs a couple minutes ahead of me. Absolutely mesmerizing. I hope they make the body lotion too…

spankyb

Buttered popcorn at the very opening and settles to like, the final burn of a dollar store french vanilla scented candle. But, hey, if you’re the “vanilla” type……;-)

Liliana Ângelo

The first review I will write on this amazing page has to be about this perfume! It deserves that honor and more!
So much I could say about this perfume if only I know the right terms to, but my nose is not trained yet. I would only say that this is the creamiest vanilla I had tried so far (and I did not know I loved vanilla this much until I put my nose on that paper strip on that Jo Malone store in Lisbon).
This vanilla, mixed with the tonka bean (other favorite of mine) and this smoked effect on the dry down... Ohh Lord.

I don't know how to explain it, if only the price tag were a little more friendly and I would bathe in this! I want to fall asleep in this and obligate my husband to spray it on me before I wake up!

On my skin the projection is not crazy (honestly I don't buy perfumes for others to appreciate, it's for me to appreciate so I don't mind) but the lasting power is amazing (on clothes it had passed 2 days and I still feel that smoked tonka and vanilla... Sooooo good).

No the same, but the dry down resembles Lost Cherry of TF.

emerson10

I wanted to love this fragrance; I've literally been craving a fragrance with all these notes! (orris, barley, tonka and ambrette), like in my head, I have been wanting to smell a combo like this, subtly sweet, toasty and wheaty...

This was not that. Projection much stronger than I am used to with JM frags, but smelled like a sweet gourmand -- nothing particularly wheaty. While I could somewhat detect the orris and barley, they were deeply buried underneath a very sweet tonka.

Not a dislike, but just was not what I was expecting (and admittedly, my hopes were high)

tessture

I get very sweet notes with gentle iris first on, powdery, creamy, smooth, but distinctly floral and very like a scented powder, but one that I like. It doesn’t smell like baby powder, at least, but like a vintage dressing-table staple. It gets more floral fruity as it dries, more with the fig becoming more prominent. The creamy smooth powdery feeling remains underneath, leaving it as a rather lovely makeup scent that I’m really liking. Almost smells like a Guerlain, but lighter.

ohkatie

doesn't match the description at all, on me or just on a test strip. i got a sample and was disappointed that i hardly got any tonka, but instead felt it was overpowered by verbena and musk--for some reason that combo ends up smelling "fresh" in a bad way to me.

SweetieZ

Love this. If it weren’t for the price tag this would be my signature scent. The tonka is so beautiful in this. This develops to a warm, clean, cocooning scent on my skin. I personally get a lot of vanilla, fig, and tonka in this. I’ve received so many compliments in this already!

Repogirl

I just tried this and oh my, I love it so much. It's creamy, comforting, and fresh at the same time. I could see this becoming my signature scent for a while. If I could bathe in this I would.

Edited: The more I wear this, the more I REALLY love it. It also fetches tons of compliments. I think this is my favorite JM fragrance by far.

prada_baby123

It’s nothing like the description. I thought it would be more complex and that it would unravel throughout the day. It smells like coconut and verbena with a hint of vanilla bean. It’s not sickly sweet on me, at least. But I will be returning it as it’s not at all worth the price tag, it doesn’t have the uniqueness I was looking for.

Thai_Florist

I’ve got a sample and it remind me to “Rolling in Love by Kilian” in the same way but still different, on my skin it eternal silage, I sprayed just a little but it really long lasting! I love this one so much, the bottle, the scent and the name! I hope I can get the full bottle of this soon!

mhill46

I loved loved loved the opening but as it dries it becomes so sweet on my skin I think I’d end up with a piercing headache if I wore more than one spray. It almost makes me nauseous if I smell it too much.

I wanted to love it so bad. If that opening was the same throughout I’d probably love it but whatever that thick syrupy sweet note is just ruining it for me. 🙁

If you love sweet fragrances I think this would be right up your alley. I can see a lot of people really liking this but it’s just not for me unfortunately. If it had more powdery touches and the sweetness were toned down I think I’d love it but as it is now it just isn’t my style. I don’t think this is a safe blind buy if you don’t absolutely love really sweet fragrances.

flowers-in-the-springtime

I was so excited by the notes in this perfume that I almost blind bought it. I'm so glad that I bought a small decant first. This is the most disappointing perfume by JM to date. I had such high hopes for it as well. I have never smelled poppy so I imagine that the rather strange and sweet top note is poppy. I find this perfume reminds me of a sweet, toasted marshmallow. There are some vague notes of wood and amber but my overall impression is a weak, wishy, juice with no silage and no longevity.

GB Fragrances

I love Scarlet Poppy and find it extremely similar to Rolling in Love by Kilian. I own both, compared them side by side, and they're definitely similar, the biggest difference is that Rolling in Love has a lactonic/milky note which makes the fragrance very creamy and gourmand, while Scarlet Poppy is more amber-y. Rolling in Love has better performance though. Absolutely gorgeous and very different from your typical Jo Malone scents. Is it worth buying it? I would say yes unless performance is a deal breaker for you. It's a pretty linear fragrance, you won't have surprises which in this particular case I'm thankful for because the opening is just beautiful, and I wanted the fragrance to stay just like when I first sniffed. Lasting power is around 4 hours on my skin.

ladolcemae

Obsessed. I was looking for a fragrance like this, gourmand, sweet, a bit crispy, and I found it. Jo Malone, I shat on you for years bc your classic collections was just about fresh fruity florals, but this ! You’ve outdone yourself. It’s different, it’s unique, it’s sensual, creamy, a bit floral but not too much... It’s been a while since a fragrance actually IMPRESSED me like this, but it’s all I was looking for. Wish it had a bit more projection and longevity but overspraying might do the job... I love love love it. Signature scent worthy FOR SURE, this will work at all times, casual, formal, through summers and winters, a dress to impress kind of perfume, but also dressed to kill, dressed to seduce, dressed for love, fights, and adventure. Eager to try this in hot weather, to out-hot the sun.

Edit: after a few more tries, and discoveries, I am not such a fan of this anymore. Deffo likeable, sweet, like a crispy pastry, but a bit on the simple, one dimensional side. The smell is amazing don’t get me wrong ! And i would’ve splurged if it wasn’t 150 euros for a full bottle. All in, I think I am not too fond of Jo Malone.

KBreckenridge

Beautiful. Words that come to mind when I wear this: warm, soft, milky, creamy, powdery, vanilla, almond, iris. It's ever-so-slightly sweet, but nothing like the crazy candy-floss-on-steroids that dominates the market nowadays. It shares a family resemblance with Poppy and Barley but this is creamier and closer to the skin, whereas Poppy and Barley is fresher, boozier, more expansive and androgynous. 10 out of 10.

Loving this one !! So warm, feminine, seductive...my husband called it sensuous and stylish..lovely combination of notes, they melt one into the other, no sharp edges here, just a cozy warm perfume..top notes are a powdery almond vanilla, not super sweet, like a cloud of pretiness....it has notes I love, iris, amber musk..I do detect the fig, it gives it a different kick...I do agree longevity isn’t great, but it stays on skin and clothes long enough...it is so enticing you want to reapply it more and more ! I wish I had gotten the bigger bottle...jo Malone is a mixed bag for me, but Scarlett Poppy is a wonderful fragrance..it has an interesting undertone, it is really unlike many fragrances out there...in my top five no doubt..

It is absolutely beautiful. A blind buy and it’s really nice. I’m happy I didn’t pay attention to the negative reviews and I find it very unfair. Doesn’t matter it’s not the longest lasting or it doesn’t project like a beast. I don’t like very long lasting aspect in parfumes. I have a big collection and it’s a pleasure to keep refreshing.. scarlet poppy is a very beautiful parfume, warm yet soft, creamy and floral.. not offensive or in your face..an absolute pleasure. It’s definitely one of my JML favorites; wood sage and sea salt, mimosa and cardamom, orris and sandalwood and now added this red beauty to my list♥️

This is the first Jo Malone perfume I own. And I have to say I really enjoy it.

This is a good warm summer scent! I can’t wait to use this in the summertime 😊

On me the vanilla and fig are the notes that I smell the most. And with a little bit of the poppy note in the beginning 🌸
The longevity isn’t the best but it’s a solid 3-4 hours on my skin.
I blind bought it and I will say that this is a safe one to blind buy 😊

Well this is just addictive! I don’t usually like Jo Malone perfumes; I find them a bit unfinished and lacking a full profile. There are a few exceptions and this in my opinion is their absolute best perfume so far. I must admit that I didn’t know poppies had a scent and in my experience (I used to play with garden poppies a lot as a child) they only have a sappy green fragrance. There is a bit of that at the beginning of this perfume but this is a gourmand perfume to my nose. It smells like biscotti, vanilla figs and tonka. It is sweet, powdery and slightly boozy- very feminine and elegant. It reminds me quite a bit of Saffran Troublant in the mid notes, except much less spicy. Definitely a gem. Sillage is moderate and I find longevity good, at least 7 hours.

A mans review. Awesome scent. Female scent of the year! Classic worthy. It is one FRESH WARM scent for a woman. Poppy is an addictive, alluring punchy note I see. The Tonka, Iris, Fig and Poppy is what I get, something special. A fresh gourmand. A Masterful Blend. I bought this instantly for my lady, no hesitation. Its strange that today at Sephora I introduced this scent to Sephora workers, that didn't even know this scent smelled so great. They agreed they didnt realize the scent smell so good or is it the expensive price the reason its ignored. One said she's putting it on her Birthday list for her boyfriend to buy. If the price isn't an issue I recommend it.

Just tried it but I don’t think it’s worth the price, I will pass on this one.

This is nice but not worth that $195 for 100ML. It's been 3 hrs and it's almost completely gone from my skin (I oversprayed!). It's lingering a bit more on paper (I oversprayed there too!)

It opens with a lot of TONKA, vanilla, and barley (wheat). All together, it creates an accord almost reminiscent of amaretto cookies altho not quite. It developes to a powdery drydown where the iris/orris comes thru.

Like I said -- nice. But weak sauce and this is the Cologne Intense version. I -do- like this better than their Poppy n Barley but like the latter, you can't discern the Fig Note in either which is WHY I was interested in the first place. And yes, I have tried their Fig n Lotus (too sour) and their Wild Fig n Cassis (too woody and not enuff Fig).

I feel a little bit ‘played’ by JM with this scent. It’s a vava voom version of their Poppy & Barley (which I enjoy) with tonka notes to make it sweet. And the sweet is what lasts. Because this is part of the Cologne Intense line it DOES last and linger. With the red bottle and sweet scent it seems totally targeted to market in Asia. But I feel like other brands have done this scent before and better (Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, even Lancôme) and the lingering ‘tootsie roll’ scent just makes me feel like I’ve been played. Still great bottle and yeah they win because I bought it.
