I bought my first bottle while on a family holiday in Italy in the 90's. My Mum bought it and my Grandmother bought bottles to give as gifts as well. Three generations blown away by how beautiful the scent was. Getting back to the UK iv'e not seen it anywhere but managed to get a huge bottle on an auction site from Germany that i'm using very sparingly.
It's musky .. sweet and sensual it dries down as a soft honey on my skin. I only have to smell it and i'm transported back to Venice with my loved ones. I would say an evening scent .. a date in a fancy restaurant or if you just want to feel special.

If you love this perfume and are trying to make your precious bottle last, try layering current Animale with current Giorgio Red for a similar though less refined scent. I'm a newly-minted vintage fragrance fanatic with a particular fondness for orientals, so I had to try Luciano Soprani. I was especially excited by all the comparisons to vintage Coco, but when I first sprayed LS I was surprised by the similarities to current Animale (I've never smelled the vintage). To me, the spice notes are indeed comparable to those found in Coco, but the fruit notes smell more overripe than fresh and juicy, and the overall fragrance smells like more of a melancholic rose chypre than an oriental. When the basenotes began to develop I noticed the same dark, woodsy note that I find to be way too strong in Giorgio Red - I'm still not great with notes but I believe it might be vetiver. I never really liked Animale or Red, but smelling LS gave me the brilliant idea of combining them, and the similarity is undeniable. The LS is, of course, better - much softer edges and more elegant spices - but once the Animale/Red combo dries down you might think it was a potent reformulation of LS, and a very affordable one to boot. Just thought I'd share!

This is definitely a strong fragrance. All I can smell is the incense and maybe a band-aid type scent. I also agree is has a old fashioned hair spray scent like Aqua Net hair spray.
No, unfortunately, this one is not for me. I do not want to smell like a bag of incense.

I received a small sample of this from a very lovely seller on Ebay. Wow! Now THIS is a perfume! One of the richest, deepest, balsamic orientals I have ever had the pleasure to try. Some have mentioned it's similarity to Coco, and while I get that, I think this is superior. I am not one to abide by daytime/nighttime rules with fragrances, but I can only imagine wearing this at night, preferably on a special date with my husband or something festive. It says it's an EDT, but one dab is filling the space around me. This is beautiful!

If one can imagine a Coco Chanel, with a lovely light sparkle running through it. I really like this one. Orange cinnamon notes within an amber sweet backdrop. Has an 80s oriental feel to it. Seems very well made.

Thank you, Athenian. I'm still waiting to receive this, but I did read on 'another' website that it is somewhat similar in feeling, in a similar vein, as Coco. I'm sure I won't be the least bit disappointed if that is the case with it--and my own chemistry. Happy perfuming!

AmazonGrace the Soprani perfume is simply amazing. I am sure it is exactly what you are hoping for and more. Enjoy!!!

I just blind bought this based on reviews here and the notes listed in Luciano Soprani. I got the vintage 3.4 ounce EdT concentration.
I did notice that this was formulated in 1987--but if it's a (stereotypical) '80s heavy-hitter with bombastic sillage and longevity: all the better IMO IF I like the fragrance.
I'm awaiting it's arrival in the post, but will return after testing to give a review.
I'm surprised (and a tad bit anxious) about LS not having more reviews here on Fragrantica--or elsewhere, for that matter.
Again: for me, all the better if I think it's a good fragrance and not many others are wearing it. ;-)

Sultry, cozy and a bit decadent. Enough said. Strictly for the grown-up only, no matter gender beliefs or sexual identity ;) .

MsMaryO, Action, what concentration of perfume do you have? I've seen it's available also in EDP.

Wow...what a beautiful scent-very regal and aristocratic. I feel like I should be wearing a deep purple velvet gown with lots of gold and pearls. I love anything with honey, and here it warms things up nicely. It's definitely chypre, but not a cold chypre.
I won't even begin to describe notes, as this is blended so well that it becomes one symphony of beauty. It's perfume the way it was meant to be experienced, as a whole.
This has some serious sillage and "insane" longevity. It lasted for several days on my bathrobe after my initial test of it-until I washed it. I have no idea how long it could have actually lasted, a month, maybe?
I do have one complaint about it. While the opening and the heart are glorious and I can't stop sniffing my wrist (although I really don't have to sniff that closely because this throws out to about 3-4 feet!), after about 3 hours the base notes get a little screechy. I did buy a used bottle and this could be due to freshness, but it relegates this to "evenings only" for me.
Still, for quality and "queenliness" factor, this rules!

There is a nice thread on right now about the most aristocratic perfume. Well, it is actually this one. The 1st perfume of Soprani (vintage).
Pure gold, pure class, pure royalty.

I put this on and went about my day, forgetting about it. After an hour i thought "Where is that familiar smell coming from?"
This is so much like Caron's Pour Une Femme (pure parfum) I thought i dipped into my own wardrobe. You can see for yourself that every note in Pour Une Femme is right here - plus a few more.
Edit: What both fragrances have that makes me swoon is the incense/rose combo on a heavenly patchouli base. Drydown is a luscious honey/amber powdery accord (unlike the sharper, colder iris powder drydown)
I'm impressed that with so many notes this doesn't slip into a stink or become a flat out mess. It's clear that whoever is behind this fragrance has some experience.
I do think that my Caron has better quality and is more smooth and rich. Luciano is more 'airy' and I get a slight 'hairspray' note (but nothing offensive)
lasting power is going on eight hours. Wow. I would recommend buying htis blind, actually
