Prada by Prada is a Amber Woody fragrance for women. Prada was launched in 2004. Prada was created by Carlos Benaim, Max Gavarry and Clement Gavarry. Top notes are Bergamot, Bitter Orange, Mandarin Orange and Mimosa; middle notes are Patchouli, Rose and Pink Pepper; base notes are Benzoin, Sandalwood, Musk, Labdanum and Tonka Bean. This perfume is the winner of award FiFi Award Fragrance Of The Year Women`s Luxe 2005.

In 2004 Prada launched its first fragrance for broader audience - Prada Eau de Parfum. Before that, starting with 2000 the company launched several fragrances as exclusive series available exclusively in Prada boutiques (four fragrances in 2000 and three in 2007).

Prada by Prada is oriental fragrance based on amber the intense accord of which imbues the entire composition. Very modern variant of the classic fragrance.
In the composition amber is surrounded by four main essences (essential oils): Indian sandalwood, Indonesian patchouli, French labdanum resin, and Siam benzoin.
With obvious dominancy of amber, the top notes are decorated with citruses, soft flowers are appearing in the heart, while dry earthy patchouli scent united with vanilla dominates the base.

Top notes: bergamot, bitter orange, mandarin, mimosa absolute
Middle notes: rose absolute, patchouli absolute
Base notes: labdanum, Tonka beans, vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin
The fragrance was created by Carlos Benaim, Max and Clement Gavarry of IFF.

Prada Intense was created in 2005 and is absolutely identical by its composition, but is more intense by its concentration, although both Prada and Prada Intense are of Eau de Parfum concentrations. However, the scent sounds a bit different. Prada intense is slightly warmer and sweeter with increased concentration of patchouli.

Himalayan Patchouli by Pacifica is a close relative to Prada.

Jmalone84

I was so so thrilled to see a couple of bottles of this in the store and even better there was a tester. Upon testing I was so pleased with it as it was pretty much what I was expecting and hoping for. This has been nearly impossible to come by in my country and I wasn’t sure If this was still being made. A few minutes into spraying I immediately thought what does this remind me of? And then remembered my sample of Coromandel and remembered the comparisons from the reviews. It really does smell very similar! Perhaps a lighter and fresher version. However, when sniffing close to the skin I could also almost believe I was smelling Chanel Allure Sensuelle which has also been a great favourite of mine and I wore for many years. I was thrilled thinking how perfect for me and decided to buy it almost immediately. However, when I got it home and eagerly ripped open the box and sprayed some on I was met with disappointment as the bottle I purchased I can hardly detect on my skin… why so different from the tester? Has anyone else encountered this issue and is it a matter of allowing it to breathe for awhile? :( very sad and disappointed.

It’s so hard to describe the smell of labdanum, but it’s easy to note once you know the smell. It creates an excellent tension in this sweat patchouli fragrance indicative of Miuccia’s designs and the cultural outlook of the time as the internet had not yet ruined everything.

Like most first fragrances by a designer, this one was directed by Miuccia. The original version wasn’t available outside of the boutiques. Saks exclusively launched the fragrance (with a shower gel!) and it coincided with the short film of Daria Werbowy reading an excerpt from the Coptic text “The Thunder, Perfect Mind”.

The fragrance really epitomises Prada as a brand.

The citrus notes listed aren’t even noticeable on first spray, no idea where they are or where they go. The pink pepper, patchouli, labdanum and Tonka bean all sit even. The styrax benzoin is a little lower, giving an ending “oomph” to the Tonka. The rose and mimosa are not very pronounced but give some complexity—neither sit high.

cheleine

Dirty and green opening of wet earthy patchouli. Soil after rain.
You can definitely feel the hint at chocolate if you look for it. It’s an airy and pretty unique composition.
I like it better on skin than on the paper strip so definitely make sure you let it blend with your chemistry.
Not for everyone, not a safe blind buy.
I saw comparisons with Coromandel and although I haven’t smelled that one before, now I’m intrigued to test it.

This perfume is very reminiscent to me considering it’s the only one my mom has worn since I was born. It’s very office siren, mature, almost smells like a cologne. I own a small bottle of it myself and you really only need one spray for the whole day this stuff lasts probably due to the patchouli in it. A less sweet version of Angel.

BostonScentGuy

A beautiful, diaphanous, ambery patchouli that sits somewhere between the original Angel and Coromandel. It has the slick, lacquered feel of Coromandel--patchouli smoothed out with slightly silvery linalool at the top and with a warm, cocoa base. From Angel, it seems to borrow that clean, abstract floral heart of lilial and lyral, but without the burnt-sugar praline aspects of ethyl maltol (if used it, it blends much more seamlessly). Such a beauty!

Prada Prada (store test)

Resinous amber with patchouli.
But in Prada lite / clean accord.

Reminds me much of softer Patchouli Imperial.
I don’t think I hint at Coromandel. That’s one is too sweet.

You can choose one from the list.
This offering leans Unisex to Homme.

Score 8/10

Dry down to Powdery Patch in Prada style, ok usable for everyday 7/10

It smells earthy and a bit resinous but in a clean linear way. Very 2010

I'm loving this! A beautiful beautiful earthy patchouli and mimosa. Light and elegant but casual and wearable.

Probably the best fruitchouli I've smelled and definitely the best creation of Prada.

There is a bit of a similarity between this and Fancy nights by Jessica Simpson but it is far from 'indistinguishable'. Fancy nights is fruitier, more citrusy and sweet. Which in combination with cedar and patchouli has this eccentric pungent accent that for some smells like 'urine'. Prada's Amber is different, more crisp, unisex and without the sweetness. In my opinion, far more skillfully composed perfume. Quite unique.

In the opening, Prada Amber Pour Femme opens rather harsh and bitter. The dominant notes throughout the wear of the fragrance are amber and patchouli. In the opening they are both very dry and there is an astringent quality that disappears fairly quickly. As the fragrance settles on the skin, it undergoes a transformation, becoming soft and powdery while retaining its earthy undertones. There's a subtle hint of sweetness that emerges but never fully takes the spotlight. The patchouli retains it's earthiness, but also develops the deep cocoa facet it is sometimes known for. There is no gourmand chocolate note here, but a rich, dry cocoa powder.

For me, this fragrance encapsulates the essence of fall. The patchouli notes conjure memories of crisp autumn days, walking through the woods with dry leaves crunching underfoot. Theis fragrance has unisex appeal, especially in the opening and early stages. As it settles on the skin, it veers slightly more towards the feminine side. There's an alluring and mysterious quality to Prada Amber Pour Femme, making it a fragrance that exudes a certain level of sensuality.

The performance is pretty good overall. The opening and first hour or two are pretty powerful. The projection is pretty strong, reaching well beyond arms reach. Around the two hour mark the projection drops off considerably becoming much softer, staying fairly close to the skin for the rest of the wear. Somewhere around 6 hours, I can't smell it on my skin any more. On clothes it lasts much longer, but it smells a lot better on skin.

While I appreciate the aesthetics of the bottle, with its eye-catching design and offset atomizer, I found it a bit cumbersome to use. It doesn't feel particularly comfortable in my hand, and the atomizer falls short of my expectations, resembling what I'd associate with a budget fragrance.

This is one of those fragrances I have a hard time rating. I've just written a pretty positive review, but it's a fragrance I don't enjoy wearing. It doesn't react poorly with my skin chemistry, I just don't want to smell like this myself. I can recognize it's beauty and the quality of the fragrance but still don't find it all that appealing...but I can see why others do.

Zethre

Not sure what Fragrantica is playing at here, but this review is for the bottle that looks like the one above, and says it is called Prada Amber. Notes on the bottle and on Prada's website say labdanum, patchouli, benzoin and sandalwood.
The combination is a rather sour amber. Not warm or sweet, no noticeable Caramel or vanilla notes.

sariahjackman79

Too heavy and masculine. Was not a fan

rosetinteddream

I bought a used bottle as I was interested in its comparisons to Coromandel. Although I could see some similarities, this is a different patchouli/resinous/vanilla smell. And there is nothing wrong with that! I liked it but didn’t love it. The atomizer on my bottle eventually got stuck and I couldn’t get it to spray even when I put a new sprayer top on it. I had to pitch it which made me a little sad. But I have a 200 ml bottle of Coromandel, as well as a dupe, and a bottle of Allure Sensuelle EDP so I think I’m good right now on my patchouli/resin/spice/vanilla fragrances.

I had this curiosity about this fragrance and how people say this smells like coromandel, strange enough I didn't even have or smelled coromandel before. I live in a small city where we have limited offline access to big name fragrance, there was nowhere for me to sniff it except blind buy or buying decants. So I blind bought these two together. 100ml Prada Amber pour femme and a vial of Coromandel because I found a legit seller selling these in that variant. Tested both on paper strips and on skin.

Let's just say, I don't know what to say hahaha...I think I got the new batch of Prada Amber, some commented it has been reformulated, because it sure doesn't smell like Coromandel, the older formulation maybe the same. On skin, yes I can see where the comparison comes from, it does smell a bit like Coromandel but Prada Amber is very very faint, to be fair, I only put 1 spray of both on each of my hands and I think if I sprayed more they could smell not really the same but at least a bit. Coromandel is very potent and Prada Amber is very faint. Both are beautiful fragrance on its own.

If I don't compare this to Coromandel, this is actually a good fragrance. I don't know why Fragrantica change the name from Prada Amber to Prada Prada, I have been stalking this perfume since it was named Prada Amber on Fragrantica. My bottle looks exactly like the picture shared here and on the metal plaque, it's labeled as Amber. Prada Amber.

Update:
So I did another test, today I sprayed Prada Amber more, 5 sprays on my left hand and 1 spray of Coromandel on my right hand. The opening, it doesn’t smell like Coromandel at all, totally different scent. I carried on with my day and then the magic happened, an hour later…dang it’s Coromandel 2.0 😂😂😂. Now I get it, you need to overspray a bit to get the potent scent the Coromandel is. Aha..yes, Coromandel does smell like Prada Amber on steroid, because Prada Amber came out before Coromandel

amandavolpe

Hmm, to my nose this smells heavily of licorice and chocolate, for some reason. It’s also very powdery.

MichelleAntonia

@missdalum Yes, it's on American Sephora right now (May 2023). I highly doubt it smells anything at all like the original, it's probably been reformulated and watered down, but it's worth a try. I have the original and I wonder about the newest one.

Violinplayah

Dusty patchouli. I used to crave this scent when I was a poor student and could only afford a spritz from the tester at Sephora. I have a ton of patch centered frags, and this would def not be a favorite these days, but it does take me back to my college years.

jjluvsm9

Ok now this is a real gem!

I even prefer it to Chanel Coromandel (shock horror) for day to day wear - this on my skin is just that bit sweeter and warmer. The benzoin really shines in this scent. The patchouli in both are quite similar - very creamy, rich, not so dirty, having a smooth chocolate-y quality. Prada Amber is very heavy on this kind of patchouli but closely followed by vanilla and even creamier sandalwood. Just beautiful. And the performance is great too.

This is a very dense fragrance to me, I feel it’s one which will make a statement no matter what and I love that about it.

This is a scent from a time when designer frags weren’t all sweet white florals… bring it back!

I hope this is a review for the OG Prada with Milano on the label. This is one of my faves. Powdery and floral. I wear mostly in Winter and Spring but anytime is just fine. The first squirt is exactly how it smells hours later.

Liene

@jjluvsm9 There is no tarragon and no oakmoss in this perfume.

For the longest time note list was wrong for this scent and it listed notes of perfume Prada sold in their boutique in early 90s. That is a completely different scent. Reviewers, who mention tarragon and oakmoss, perhaps just perceive them ghostly.

I also want to add that the disproportionate votes for different notes must be the result of the previous note mixup - I assume that count was not started anew for the shared notes.

Also it goes by both names Prada Amber (as on metal plaque on the bottle) and Prada Prada (as on the box). However recent boxes also have Amber written on them, it seems.

jjluvsm9

Can someone confirm in there is tarragon and oakmoss in this? There’s nothing of that sort in these notes but I keep seeing it in the reviews. I blind bought this and I hate oakmoss and tarragon so now I’m nervous… someone pls let me know! I got Prada Amber btw it’s not labelled as just Prada..

Edemay

smells almost exactly like the new "the one" from DnG
not sure why its not showing up in the smells like section here...

GroundedGoddess

My all time favorite perfumes. Definition of elegance, class and sophistication. This is a bold scent. So happy it's back on the market. I noticed slight reformulation in the new batch, it is not that round scent as the original but still fantastic.
Longevity of this scent is eternal. Some fabrics (silk) catch this scent forever.

missdalum

It looks like this is available again on the American Sephora website? Can anyone confirm if this is legit? (I'm in Europe)

Ferra_Verto

A warm and powdery amber, starts off a touch green and settles into a resinous warmth.
Very cuddly, starts off as a major projector but becomes a nice arms length scent, lasts for 8 hrs+
Best in autumn and winter months.

Siennai

I recently bought a sample thinking it had been discontinued. It hasn't! This is a really earthy dirty patchouli bomb with amber. Not my thing.

0phelia

Smells like tree bark and earth. No sillage at all.

JessicaEllen

What a complex and fascinating scent! The amber is dominate, which is lovely. The citrus and floral notes are subtle, which is fine since I came for the amber. I usually do not like earthy patchouli notes, but it isn't a turn off here. The vanilla and tonka pull everything together. The dry down is delicious.

Murmur123123

(Has this been renamed from Prada Amber to Prada Prada??) this is a not-so-heavy floral with a medium level of sweetness. It gives me a similar vibe as perfumes like Chanel Allure (nothing similar between how they smell). Can’t say I dislike it, but can’t say I love it either. Longevity and sillage both not great on me.

karenX

These reviews are so confusing to me. I've been wearing this on and off since it was first released and it's always been a favorite. It gets TONS of compliments, as well.
A medium-bodied, clean, subtly sweet and citrusy amber. Excellent lasting power. I am careful not to overspray (2 sprays... 3 tops) with these types of scents, but the sillage is still fairly large. Despite this, it's not a particularly heavy scent. Mature in a vintage way, but not grandma/church lady-ish. I go through long periods of time where I can't get enough of it (usually in colder weather).

Farrque

Vanilla, hint of iris, powdery notes and soft amber scent with a constant background of new plastic.
Rather close to skin.
Cozy for the colder months but not a winner in any field.

Deutsch100

I recently received my bottle of Prada Amber, and to be honest besides from poorer longevity and sillage....this is, to my nose, virtually indistinguishable from Jessica Simpson's Fancy Nights. They both have that prominent wet earth/papyrus note (not a fan) and the slightly sweetened amber/patchouli.

The Prada Amber bottle is lovely, heavy, unique and looks great. The Jessica Simpson bottle is not lovely and does not look great. But, if you want to save money...just buy the Jessica Simpson.

Mona708

Very rich and cozy! The sweetness is balanced by the patchouli, tarragon, and oakmoss. This would be a fantastic casual scent for cooler weather.

viktorijavla

This smells "vintage", but addictive. Lasting power is OK, not a safe blind buy, not a compliment getter, especially for patchouli haters.
Smells comforting, maybe because it reminds of 00's :)
Not sure if it has been discontinued, but if not - respect to Prada. In a world of Versace Bright Crystals we need such perfumes like Prada Amber :)

mateuszolech072

I'am a guy and I love it! I don't understand why this perfume is not getting enough love from community? Nobody speaks about it! Everybody is praising Chanel Coromandel wich was released after Prada Amber... They smell very similar and the bottle design is fantastic and great quality. It's gorgeous milky patchouli, very unisex or let's say this is a scent beyond genders, it is what it is. I think it's getting discontinued? It's still available on Prada website, but Pour Homme version is gone... Anyway get a bottle while you can. I have been thinking how great where 90's 00's for fashion and perfume industries, very creative time and simplistic chic sexiness... Looking at you Gucci.

Gyps

Just bought it. It’s just beautiful. I smell so good. Don’t like the bottle though (or any bottle with the spray at one end). I’m very clumsy trying to spray from these types of bottles. The fume though is magnificent. Only came across it by chance in the chemist and it was well priced so I bought it. What a great buy, it’s superb 💖

candyfluff

I don't know how I missed this. Found a bottle 30mls cheap in Savers! It's an exact dupe of Coromondel!! Love it.

Miss boudoir

For anyone who loves Shalimar Initial parfum or vintage obsession edp made in France this perfume is a great alternative. It gave me the vibes of old vintage Old Spice in the opening.. this review is for the Puig -made in Spain- version

TunyaPe

@Perpetual Collector nailed the review, really.

I feel this is a lovechild of Coromandel and Miss AP Agent Provocateur.
It has got that sophisticated earthy but airy patchouli from Coro, while having spicy floral, sultry powdery touch, and ylang-ylang bomb from Miss AP. So it is more versatile but retains its uniqueness. Patchouli > Floral > Amber > Gourmand, in my opinion.

I would say I personally enjoy Prada Amber much more than Coro as it is less gourmand.
A very sexy one.

Lindsconn

Strong and spicy are the two words I would use to describe this scent. It performs brilliantly.

It’s unfortunate to me that this is genuinely one of the most unpleasant perfumes I have ever smelt. Genuinely my least successful blind buy! I would definitely recommend testing this out beforehand.

I know some people love this so I definitely believe it to be a love it or hate it kind of fragrance. And it is very unique with great lasting power! So at least if you like it you’re in for a treat!

rednose

It didn't leave a great impression beyond the green for me. But to be fair I'm very sensitive to green notes. Though I can't recall fully how it smelled, keeping in my mind people's chemistry and perception of certain scents changes with age, it had a lead like nuance and I believe that's my preception of green notes to present as I could detect the same pencil lead like note slightly in Cartier's Basier Vole as well.

betty_bounce

A blind buy, as I love Coromandel, and I’m not disappointed. No, it’s not a dupe. It’s not even all that similar. But it is in the same scent family of Velvety, rich resins, and owning both is completely acceptable.

I’m not in love with tarragon in perfume, but for me it was short-lived, so no crisis there. I do detect a white chocolate-esque note, giving it an overlap with Coromandel. The honey and ylang-ylang give a very enjoyable sharp sweetness to cut through the creamy base. The patchouli wasn’t very prominent compared to others, but it’s there, contributing to the earthy, textured base.

It’s cosy and comfortable, but also sophisticated enough for evening wear. I’m going to file Jean Patou’s Sublime here, along with Amber and Coromandel. Very nice stuff. And so, inevitably, seems to be dropping in availability. Always the way.

Possibly the least ergonomic bottle I’ve come across. YMMV.

Perpetual Collector

I have this and I wear it a lot, but I don't agree that it has anything in common with Coromandel which I also have and wear a lot. Prada Amber is a little powdery, sexy, stink bomb ( it has that same nuance of a small amount of BO just like Angel does), whereas Coromandel is a super-refined, classy gourmand, so I don't see how are these alike...

Ines65

This one is a softer, some would say, more wearable version of Patchouli by Reminiscence. I also agree with those who have compared it to Fancy Nights and maybe in the DNA of Coromandel. They all have that patchouli note - the chocolaty, damp, earthy smell. I own all three: Patchouli by Reminiscence, Fancy nights and Coromandel but I only purchased a sample/decant of Prada (Amber) and I thinks it's well done. On me, it's a well behaved patchouli. Maybe even bottle worthy...

l_02mx

I don’t own this perfume however, it’s my mums signature fragrance, and for that I adore it.

It’s a masterpiece, does what it says on the tin; it’s a pure amber fragrance. The longest perfuming perfume I think I’ve ever smelt, my mum will spray this sparingly and I can still smell it around the house 2 days after. It’s a beast in projection and longevity.

There’s nothing really else like this fragrance, it’s classy and silky smooth. Just gorgeous. If you want a stand out scent then this is definitely one of them.

saccitygrl01

The opening of this fragrance is warm, woody (patchouli/sandalwood) with green notes that are not so much sharp as they are interesting--sorta herbal. The drydown the fragrance opens up to become a warm sensual powdery mix of amber and sandalwood with subtle florals. I adore sandalwood so this is my jam here. It is the best blended fragrance I've ever experienced. I don't get honey or bergamot on me. I definitely don't get chocolate like some other reviewers.

Loved this fragrance so much I immediately purchased a backup bottle since it appears to be discontinued. So happy I was introduced to this amazing fragrance by YT.

Mariamaija Amélie

Chocolate. I get chocolate on my skin. Prada Amber really is wonderfully mouthwatering delicious AND sophisticated at the same time. Of course I get the moss, amber, vanilla, honey, flower notes e.t.c., but just as the chocolate note in Mugler's Angel sticks out on my skin, the same goes when wearing Prada Amber. I love it!
This is a womans perfume, I think. It has depth, complexity and sensuality. Could be used all year around IMO. And can be dressed up and down. Stunning. Oh, and if you hate patchouli, just steer clear of this one ;)

Zethre

Tonnes of patchouli, backed by amber. Not sweet, quite bitter.
I much prefer Hermes Ambre des Merveilles, which is sparkling notes, amber and a little patchouli just to contrast with the slight sweetness and sparkle of the rest.

Perfumedsecrets

When this came out I wasn't ready for it. I was at an age where fruity floral was still what I gravitated towards. I still thought this is unique, and it was for the time. No one was releasing perfumes like it. Prada Amber is frozen in time to me. It will always remind me of the early 00's as this chic modern perfume that (at the time) I couldn't afford.

drawingmaniac35

Oh, my! So I own Prada L'eau Ambree and I absolutely adore it. Given the dark packaging I kind of thought it would be a stronger version of Prada Amber somehow. I also love how clean the version for men is so I went straight into the shop to test this one. I was convinced it would be somewhere along the lines of smooth and clean which is totally my thing so I sprayed it directly on my wrist.

Now, maybe it is my skin chemistry, but this was rancid. And it lasted quite a bit! :D I can still somehow see how it can be liked but it was not my perfume I guess. I can't really pinpoint what it smelled like-it was just off.

RubyRedCancer

I bought this as I heard it was along the same lines as Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights. I absolutely love FN and was curious. They are very similar, but PA is much softer while FN was much punchier. They are both lovely, but I will prefer FN.
Prada Amber is slightly more sophisticated and gets more powdery. Fancy Nights is more youthful and spicy. I wouldn't say one smells more expensive or is better blended, though.

meliecat

Such a familiar scent.. It could remind me of Guerlain Shalimar Initial or Mugler's Lily even, although not identical to either.. Maybe it's my skin playing tricks on me? I definitely had something like this already. The patch-amber-benzoin-sandalwood combination unquestionably defines this, but on me there's also something powdery like iris or lily.. I get spicy, almost minty powder for the most part, and some sandalwood and amber goes along with it. A bit masculine too at the same time - if a guy walked by wearing this it wouldn't shock anyone.. Great for autumn and winter, not too sure about warmer weather. I must say I like, mainly because it reminds me of the aforementioned scents..

xpetra82

this is a hard one...I blind bought it because its compared to Coromandel but i am not very sure....is very green and sharp for me but it still has the patchouli i love...i am pretty sure that i will love it some day but i am not yet there.

oakmosslover

One of the best. Before I started my perfume journey, I had a sample of this soon after it came out. I was a single mom of two young girls and could not afford a bottle. Years went by and I finally procured my own full bottle. I don't wear often but when I do, oh man. This stuff is amazing. I LOVE the opening, the green notes, the tarragon is stunning. The drydown is exquisite deep, sumptuous. I can't stop smelling my self. This is a must have. Gorgeous.

Sheshel

I got it but the honey in this gives me a headache while the drydown is softer I still cant enjoy this perfume. If someone in canada montreal area want to buy or exchange (swap) hit me up on messenger fly sheshel or on here

EllenaDsk

I hate honey and honeysuckle notes in fragrances, but this honey is something so much different. I think it's all about the green notes in the opening that make the whole combination calmer and wearable. According to the notes, I would hate this one, but I can say I really love it.

mevans

This is a serious scent, very sophisticated. I can see this being a love it or hate it type of fragrance and one that you need to work up to after experiencing a number of others. Amber evolves and it's hard to believe its the same fragrance from start to finish. It is very green and the patchouli is heavy through the first couple of hours. The dry down is a cozy, warm, sweet amber which I love. And can we stop for a moment and appreciate that bottle? The embossed metal plate on top is a nice touch. Nicely done.

Julie713

I just recently became obsessed with perfume (it's been about 4 months), & since the beginning it's been clear to me that I adore patchouli. However, I've been trying ceaselessly since day one to find the right patchouli balance for me. I have finally found it. This is my new signature scent.

Gucci Rush was my previous signature scent, though it disappoints me in its performance. I longed for a fresh, sexy patchouli fragrance that matched its intensity, but actually lasted & projected. I realize I'm discovering this waaaaayyyy late in the game, but Prada is exactly what I was looking for.

I spray it on my skin, then wait till it dries down & close my eyes, & just breathe in the smell, & I'm utterly intoxicated by it. I'm still learning to discern individual notes, but I mostly get the honey, patchouli, vanilla, & sandalwood. I detect faint green notes.

She's arrived. Initially, I'm not that impressed. It reminds me of a cleaning product. I'll try again today.. I Will update. .... It's a no for me. I didn't think it lasted. Didn't think it smelt divine.

ballerinanoir

This one is fantastic.
Sophisticated and very sexy, without being vulgar.
I had it when I was 18 and at that age I was not confident nor mature enough to endorse it. I tried again later and WOW…. I dont think today it is a very recognizable scent, since it was discontinued. But it has always been an unique one. Someone passea me by wearing it and i immediately think: hmmm I know that one.

I wear it when I need to boss up and remind myself of who I am. Love it.

ivadim

Може би едно от най-добрите пачули в парфюм, както всички Прада стилен, взесезонен, след него пробвах и придобих различни парфюми с пачули, но той остава еталон. Прекрасен парфюм.

Nancymae

I had to let this one go. On me it pulled masculine the way some lavender scents will ...not that there is lavender in this one. When I sniffed the cap and bottle it was beautiful, just the amber & sandlewood & vanilla & benzoin that I was looking for but the dry down never reached that gorgeous point. Sadly it must be my chemistry.

malikun

I love this perfume so much that I think something in me will die if it gets discontinued on reformulated . I do have an extra box already, I might have to buy one more just in case...

mlleghoul

Prada Amber is a scent that reminds me of Dior Addict, and not because they really smell similar, but they're both woodsy, sweet, resinous scents that take up a lot of space. They are voluminous, they envelop you in a wondrously dreamy cloud of fragrance ...but it's also a rippling billow of scent that can be sniffed several rooms away on the other side of the house, or on the other side of the globe, or maybe even on the moon. And I think you need to be okay with that to love these perfumes And side note...why haven't we come up with a better way to describe this category of perfume. I am reviewing this scent in 2021, and calling it an "Oriental" fragrance seems deeply problematic, doesn't it? At any rate, Prada Amber is a beautiful honeyed, balsamic amber and velvety patchouli with a discordant herbal bitterness, perhaps from tarragon or bergamot, that adds interest and intrigue and keeps it just this side of cloying, while maintaining that overblown potent headiness.

Vanillastorm40

I love Amber so I really thought I'd like this one. It's soapy, not in a good way. Peppery also. I get more patchouli than Amber. A peppery soapy patchouli.

Azisai-

So enchanting!

I've received many...backhanded compliments from this one. Including: "You smell like a clean old lady", and "You smell like a cabinet with flowers in it"...and all of them added "but in a good way!", so I was naturally a bit insecure about wearing this besides in my home again, which is sad because this smells amazing on my skin and it's long lasting too, much better than any of my "going out" or "school" perfumes.

Amber is obviously the key in this. Amongst all the other notes, it stands out. But it doesn't guide you away from change! This isn't too linear; it starts out with a slightly fruity opening, somewhat balsamic-woody middle, and very strong patchouli drydown...all while amber sparkles the brightest. Performance is good, nice sillage and longevity, definitely enough to be noticed.

I agree so much with @livcantell, this smells like how my mom smells like without perfume too! Maybe that's why I find it so comforting and nostalgic. I'm not sure why, but it's definitely it.

Maodo

As a true patchouli lover I must say that I needed some time to like Prada Amber. It was the amber that crushed me. All I could smell was amber. Thick, creamy amber. It reminded me of the hippie amber perfume oil and amber perfume cream from a small tin can. My first boyfriend wore it and I couldn't get enough of the seductive smell. But that was 25 years ago, lol. So I understand the name Prada Amber perfectly. It can not ever be called Prada Patchouli, but I wished there was one. After a while of wearing Prada Amber some whiffs of patchouli appeared and I was so relieved by this experience that I tried to catch them forever like crazy. The patchouli in Prada Amber is there, ofcourse it is. I wear it regularly and I got compliments for it. But Prada Amber to me is definitely an amber fragrance.

imoore

It is a very safe blind buy for dirty patchouli lovers.
unisex
long lasting
very well structured, dry.
9,5/10
I purchased it by mistake not knowing that it is not l'eau ambree, and do not regret it a bit.

Emera1d

I've been looking for a nice amber perfume and after using a 2ml sample of Coromandel (which was just a patchouli bomb to my nose) I decided to get a sample of Prada Amber. Oh My God!!! When I sprayed it I got an almost identical scent to Coromandel but that changed quickly to a much more wearable scent. This is everything I expected Coromandel to be form reviews! It's smooth, dark, sensual, warm, incense-y, smoky and I even get a milk chocolate smell in it (sadly didn't get any of the white chocolate in Coromandel). And it does smell expensive, classy and rich and grown up delicious! Prada Amber is absolutely gorgeous, signature worthy and 100% worth the money. Lasted ALL DAY on my skin and I kept catching whiffs of it throughout the day. Not only will I be buying a FB of this but the shower gel and lotion too. Would recommend if you are looking for something like Shalimar but (like me) find the 1st hour or so a bit challenging. Or if you like dark and mysterious perfumes ;).

Helenn29

Oh my god! I tested this today in a sale section...first spritz felt very green and somehow minty..didn't like it at all so I left. By the time I got home, I was already sorry I didn't buy it...it changed so much becoming this powdery, incence thing with some trails of vanilla and amber, not in your face but subtle and I personally found it very provocative and sensual. I will definetely go back for it!

livcantell

i just bought a bottle myself. because i keep thinking about it and that time when my mom turned 42 and wanted this perfume for her bday. "no, Jacob i meant the spicy perfume!". her bf bought the other version in black. i loved it so much and its exactly how my mom smells without perfume on. it reminds me of her that time when she was the strongest. (please dont mind my shitty grammar and english)

PerfumedParrot

Oh no! Dull as dishwater. Unless mine’s gone off...? This can’t be right.

DSdiva

Some Desires turn into Reality in the moment they are spoken, while others are bewitched to be badly and impatiently waited... I've waited for years for this fragrance and be patient is not my virtue at all. This wait was totally worth it!
Amber note sound weird on my skin, unfortunately. There are many amber perfumes I love on others, but I can't wear...
Prada amber is quite different on me and I'm glowing in this big loving hug. There is the enticing of a light fruity sweetness, the trembling of a green notes, a hint of a citrus and the magnificent patchouli-wood base.

IDreamPurple

Okay so, I first owned Fancy Nights and today my Prada came in the mail. Here's my opinion:
They are 90% similar, but the difference is significant enough for me to not call them dupes. Maybe that's just me tho :D

FN is much sharper, more in your face, and a lot dryer, but still gorgeous. Prada is sweeter from the get go, has some florals in the mix, and has an overall softer, more rounded, even fluffier thing going on. Very, very similar, but for me suitable for different moods. Of course not everyone is going have a use for scents this close to each other, but I am weird that way :D

Edit: Nope, more like 75%. It is much sweeter, almost honeyed, and now the floral quality is much more pronounced. FN is for goth clubs and flashing lights, Prada is for feeling comfy.

evarosa

This was my signature scent for many years in my 20's. It was so unique. I remember just really enjoying that bergamot-rose-patchouli-amber combo. There weren't so many fruitchoulis back then and Prada was classier than Angel.

My first bottle was a stand up rectangel, and I believe it was EdT. It was the most beautiful formula. The later laying down bottle, EdP, is sweeter.

Wwoman

On me, the honey is very, very powerful - completely overwhelming the other notes except the amber. Looking at the accords, I would have never realized it was that sweet, but since I can't stand hugely sweet fragrances, this is a no for me.

amandorlait

Prada Amber is a warm, classy amber and patchouli. Exotic but chic. Similar to Chanel Coromandel, but without the sweet white chocolate. It garners a lot of compliments and requests for the name of my perfume.

Vickalicious

On my skin I immediately got the bitter orange in the opening (in fact, I thought there was a neroli topnote in this). Then Tonka and amber start to come in. This is largely a powdery, balsamic fragrance on my skin, with a bitter orange opening. I like this fragrance, and think it’s super versatile; I would like to add it to my collection. It has good longevity (about 5-6 hours), and projects, but is not overbearing. It could also make a good signature scent.

Miasha

Obviously, I have not reviewed this one yet.
I bought it a couple of years ago, when it was on sale for a very low price. It seems like my favourite saleswoman in that shop has just about the same taste as I do, and then she is always very nice and friendly as well. She has given me many very good tips over the years. She said that not all seem to like this fragrance, but she does. And I did. Even though, if it had not been for the very good price at that time, I might not have discovered how beautiful it is! And then, it actually took some time for me to really get to know it. I still was a little bit hesitant at first, couldn’t find out if I liked it a lot or just a little bit.
The first period of time, I used to layer it with a natural ginger perfume I bought at the same time(100 Bon The & Gingembre), which I still sometimes do, and that combination is lovely. But with time, I realized just how absolutely gorgeous Prada Amber is on its very own. I tend to like, love and hunt after many older perfumes, classic beauties or a little weirder ones, but I also love many modern perfumes.
Someone in the line called this a modern classic. And I totally agree! It does not feel dated at all. If anything, it reminds me of the 60:s(when I was a small child) - and the way I look at the 60:s, it is The First Modern Decade. Everything was so sleek and cool, so elegant, but with a humourous twist, somehow. I still use some clothes from the 60:s, that my mother, grandmother and sisters used to have, and I tell you, that they are good quality, and always come back to fashion. I always get compliments when I wear these clothes. And this fragrance is really like that. A modern classic yes, or a westernized oriental.
So: it has come to my conclusion, that I LOVE this Perfume! ❤️ Not many fragrances are worthy the name Perfume for me. (Yeah yeah, I KNOW that the terms mean they are different concentrations, that’s what it is. But from me: this is an Honorable Mention Title.😌😉☺️). HOPE it will never be discontinued for lack of popularity!😱🤭😶 Must get a back-up bottle some time soon.

LawmaLlama

Yikes, this is a very heady patchouli, sandalwood, and musk fragrance. It is interesting, but too much of all of that for me. I can't detect amber or any of the other more feminine notes, and agree with other reviewers that this comes off as quite masculine.

acason

Is it just me or did the fragrance notes and pyramid change here? Where’s the labdanum, Tonka beans, and where did the fruit notes come from? Does Fragrantica periodically change these things? As far as what they list on their website?

JackieM

Got my 06 one out today. I've heard they reformulated then discontinued. It's been so long since I've smelled it but it's exactly as I remember. When you've got to say 'they don't make em like that anymore' about 14 years ago.. it's a bit troubling. Maybe 14 years from now AI will be creating perfumes out of zero cost resources or something ugh. We aren't THAT old, likely def not as old as we feel... stuff around us just gets old forgotten or cast aside at a faster and faster rate.

Anyway back to the perfume. Cap off, it's like you've cracked open a bag of potting soil, the classic, cutting patch. But when you spray it on in moments the amber muscles its way to the front and says, nope - winter or go home. It's like fireside amber. Eventually I think it comes full circle. The dried down version of the patch re-emerges to give it that slight BO edge. Very grown up and unisex.

A lot is made in marketing these days of "confidence" and indviduality and asserting one's destiny and all those kind of catchphrases... but the scents almost never smell like what you would actually associate with that (at least not if you're over the age of 20. Lancome Idole, really? Ok). And they rarely smell glamorous. Prada Amber is all of those things without the marketing. It's glamour when no one is looking, when there's no gowns to put on, no fake minimalism, no calculated color filtered photoshoots, no trendy Gen Z actresses with huge insta followings to prop up the inane "storytelling".

Vivawag30

This is a strong one, dont think I can handle the amber and patchouli.I am yet to find out what induces the headache to me in this perfume. Its quite nice but overpowering for me.its stays super long but unfortunately because it makes me very uncomfortable I can not wear it.

amy.bible

Has to be my almost favourite perfume, I say almost because I used to have a 100ml from 2006. It was so gorgeous, very warm, great depth but had something airy floating on top..not a girly fragrance at all, not one that would suit everyone. That 100ml bottle was barely used when my mother gave me it back on 2006, she'd been given it for Xmas and wasn't crazy about it. Tbh I wasn't sure about it at first but great to absolutely love it. When I wasn't wearing it I'd often have to just pick it up and take the cap off to get a whiff of it😂 sadly it finally ran out a couple of years back. It did last so long because v little went a long way. Also I'd only really wear it on nights out.
So i requested it as a Xmas pressie last year, and while I do love it, it's mostly the same but it's definitely lost something from the older formulation. It's like a really really good imitation.. It doesn't last as long either, so I'm trying to not use it much, also I'm hoping letting it age might help it get some of the depth and warmth of the original version back but it's just not the same

Venusia

This is the same special potion as it ever was, the newer version has not the initial depths, but it is still very well done and I still love it since its appearance. It is a complicated composition that doesn't fit any skin chemistry and is more of an aquired taste. It's not your common perfume, it has niche quality, a unique herbal spicy scent.
If one of you is not completely and convinced in love with very sweet or flowery scents test this without getting scared of the bad reviews. But don't buy blind.

Snowfall84

Can anyone tell me if this smells like the original Prada that came out in this shaped bottle around 2004? I had it back then and it was the most beautiful milky powdery feminine scent EVER! It looks like the scent may be different nowadays though? Any help is greatly appreciated :)

LisaandtheWord

It's great if you like patchouli.. as it dried it became obvious patchouli on me. It was a nice soft patchouli, and I liked the blend of spice and amber in the background.

bel.gravia

The warm, soft amber in the dark woods of humid air. Smells high class and niche like. Totally wearable, unisex, strong and empowering. It is a certain fragrance, by that I mean not for the faint hearted. It is a darker type of perfume, filled with incense. However, Prada Amber is mostly wood. There is a spoon of honey in it, just to round it up a little. I love the bottle as well! In comparison to L'eau Ambree though, I find Amber harsher, spicier, drier and less far less sweet. L'eau Ambree is like a silent version of Amber.

sophiagardenia

I'm rewatching The Devil Wears Prada for about the 100th time seemingly, but I noticed in the opening credits, Prada Amber is sitting on the bathroom counter! The Devil Wears Prada is such a timeless, classy movie, so I VERY MUCH SO would like to try this fragrance now!!! I just had to share my surprise at how this perfume is in the movie, but I will be purchasing and writing a detailed review very soon :)

churinl

A very beautiful and sexy perfume. I've never had a patch fragrance quite as smooth, and this is every bit as much a patch fragrance as it is an amber one. There is a sweetness I can only attribute to the honey and vanilla. Beyond that, I really don't detect other notes. I put this on after a shower before bed, but I layered it with Laura Mercier's Ambre Vanillé body butter. Tonight, I will drift away on clouds of oriental, slightly gourmand, deliciousness! While there is no doubt that men can wear this, on me it definitely comes across feminine, in a seductive way! I am not sure what year my half bottle was produced, as I purchased it on Ebay without a box, but my guess is prior to 2014, as it has a longevity most of today's designer fragrances lack. Right now, I have my eye on another bottle for back up. It hovers between a like and a love for me, so if love wins out, I may pull the trigger on the backup.

Nataliemarie

Look, I like Fancy Nights, but come on now. This is WAY better, easier to wear, blended & just amazing. I have worn both for years & still own both. Fancy Nights is NOT gonna be the one I put on for a special night ;)

jventura489

This smells so good on skin! it's a beautiful fragrance for special occasions when you want to feel modern and elegant.

jovejove

Now that L’Oreal is taking over Prada in 2021, I can kiss this one goodbye! :/

birdofparadise

Who are these old ladies that so many reviewers speak of? I had this fragrance many years ago and loved it then. Couldn't find it again so settled for Fancy Nights by Jessica Simpson. But its sort of like settling for a friend of a well-loved ex-boyfriend that you used to see around and was pleasant enough - but not the love of your life that the other was. Finding this again was like falling in love all over again, having met up with your ex who found he couldn't live without you either but wasn't sure if you felt the same. Ah, Prada Amber, elegant, sensual, warm, musky and incensed - I've missed you.

mystica

I have an 2006 formula which is deliriously good. Absolutely opulent, glorious, oriental fragrance. Imho, one of the best feminine patchoulis ever made. Benzoin resin from Siam, real sandalwood from India, real oakmoss, what else could you ask for? One more downvote for reformulations. It is extremely hard to find this fragrance where I live, and I have no idea how it smells now if it's still in production.

SmellyLauren

The first warm that comes to mind with this scent is “warm”. Some reviews regard this as masculine, but that thought had never crossed my mind. It could be unisex, but there is something about it that screams strong, sexy woman. It’s a caramel-y, spicy, mysterious, yet cozy, boozy cigar scent that I love to put on in the evening after wearing light, fresh, florals during the day. Very sensual and inviting. GREAT lasting power, and compared to a lot of other Prada fragrances, much better sillage.

ivadim

Това е такава красота, много се радвам, че не е популярен, дано никога не бъде прекратен.

BatemansFragrances

This is a chocolaty powdery flowerpot dirt kinda patchouli. A man could wear this, its in that angel men category with the patchouli honey and chocolatyness. Gets a like from me.

Elsee

This smells exactly like Fancy Nights! :)

IDEA:
What if we all start stating where we live. For instance, someone who lives in a humid climate will have a different smell reaction to a perfume with someone from a dry climate. I know this because I lived in both. What smelled fantastic in one place was a disaster in the other... (Humid to dry). I believe this makes a huge difference to the outcome of the perfume, and might help us somewhat.
Thoughts on this idea? Does it matter? Will it help?

:)

Happy sniffing!
(I live in the dry high desert of New Mexico)

Anamandy

I wore this fragrance on a warm, rainy day and it smelled wonderful. It was a blind buy, and I just couldn't contain myself. This is very rich, almost gourmand, like heavy cream or butter that's smooth as silk. I don't like Patchouli in a scent but here it is beautiful and gives this perfume an earthy, chocolaty, deep quality. The opening herbal citrus notes are drop dead gorgeous and unlike other perfumes that share those notes, there is nothing medicinal or off-putting here. Even though some would say this really should be worn in the cooler months, it really shined in the warmth of the day. I found it to be a very warm and sensuous scent. Longevity is fantastic and silage is soft and enveloping. This is a love for me.

Just want to add after looking at the This reminds me section, that I don't think this smells anything like Fancy Nights. Not even close.

Nova_

Sharp and extremely masculine, not even a unisex fragrance. I had to give it away as it gave me a headache.

Violet_Rose

I have a small edp of this and have been wearing it all day. It is patchouli dominant with a silky sweet warm amber. The benzoin and other notes lead it to being a beautiful ambery powder with the patchouli never dying.

adrienn99

honestly, I was not expecting a lot from this, so pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the opening, slightly citrussy and fruity , fragrance is not as heavy or sweet as i expected (well, at least the majority of amber featured ones tend to be). The drydown is not very impressive though, I find that the patchouli is rather unpleasant there.
If this was a colour, would be a pale yellow. At this point I'd hashtag this as medium-weight, dry, dusty, and unisex.
After 2 hrs into wearing it tho it takes another turn and becomes sweeter and better rounded and feminine, white chocolate maybe.

I felt compelled to comment on the Coromandel reference, not sure where that come from, probably the mix of amber, patchouli and resins. Anyway, anyone looking for an alternative may sorely be disappointed as I see it. I own and love Coromandel to pieces. Coromandel is much richer and you won't get the stunning patchouli featured there.

p.s. with regards to the notes, it is just curious that the pyramid does not tie up with the notes in the description above.

Cherry_Darling

Not usually a fan of designers but. This one is very good in my opinion. I don't think it's like Fancy Nights that one is more about the papyrus and woods. This one is very patchouli dom and balsamic, goumand but not really sweet. I do get a white chocolate vibe like some have said in Coromandel, some similarities though that one is spicier and definitely has that Chanel vibe (aka old lady aldehydes). Still testing, so only time will tell if it's a keeper or a catch and realease...but loving it for now.

Jose Marcos

Noooooooooo, this has NOTHING to do with Hermes L'Ambree des Merveilles. Hermes is Honey and Vanilla. Prada is all about Patchouli in the same vain as Coromandel, Borneo 1824 ... and of course, Fancy Nights and lately I've found the wonderful simpler version of Prada/LIDGE in Montale Patchouli Leaves ...

Too many noses nosing around I suppose ...

Venusia

Soapy-chypre feeling with green, floral wafts yet also light sweet-spicy tones. I don't detect a certain notes pyramid, they play and mingle wonderfully for an exquisite olfactory experience. The patchouli in this is so fine without being a main note to me, the best I've ever smelled. I would gladly invent " chypre-gourmand" category. Seems light at first, although it radiates very well, it lasts and intoxicates everything around, without getting overpowering. I love how it blooms the next days from my clothes.
You can't do justice to this (or any) scent spraying it on paper or in the room :))). One's skin chemistry is the secret ingredient in each perfume. Lucky me here!
It was the only scent I could tolerate while pregnant. That's why I'll always love it!
Beautiful, unique, undisputable aristocratic scent.

aishmiqru

I absolutely love this perfume. I love that it plays hot and cold and you get wafts of green notes throughout your wear-time. It's warm and powerful, but not quite sexy, it's too confident, smells too much like prestige and success. I only ever wear it when I want to project an image of class and authority. It's nice to wear to formal events, the theatre, etc. It kind of fosters a hunger for success in me, makes me want to become the kind of woman who can wear this perfume indiscriminately.

Valentineee

raiza1990

I had to hit the dislike button. This is nothing for me. It is not bad, it is actually well done and very different from the mainstream feminine fragrances out there, but to me, it smells too masculine. I even thought this was a male cologne.
I really don’t like it. too balsamic and the patchuli is that earthy kind that puts me off. The sweet powder in the background doesn’t help either. To me, it is a heavy and christmas like perfume. Not the kind of scent i wear.
Projects well and longevity is moderate to long lasting.
Try it if you like mysterious, powerful fragrances.

dglightblue

Hi :)

wondering if you can advise...
prada amber
prada tendre
prada leau ambree

what are the differences in terms of feel? how does each one feel in terms of general accords (as opposed to individual notes).

i am seeing fancy nights is pretty similar to prada amber, what could be comparable for the other two?

thanks lots

pimentosugars

It is now teh years since I wrote my first review of Prada (Amber) Prada for this site. How things have changed! Including my body chemistry or the construction of this perfume it seems, because back then it was just a bit thin and tinny on my skin, distinctly unimpressive.

A decade later this is a perfect perfume for me; Amber, wood, patchouli with very pleasant flowers following in the dry down, a statement in cool city chic, elegant and sophisticated without any effort. I wonder if I will love it even more in ten years time?

drugstore classics

Prada Amber strikes me as hugely unisex, in that it is woody and interesting, rather than overly floral or gourmand. The sweetness is distinct, but not dominant. I truly enjoyed my sample, wearing it side by side with Fancy Nights for purposes of comparison. They are close, though Prada Amber has a more unisex, less vanillic feel. It's almost like a his and hers version of the same perfume brief! I genuinely LOVE Fancy Nights, even it if is simpler and sweeter.

But then something occurred to astound me. I happened to layer the unisex bargain, Wicked Wahine Hibiscus (the name is misleading!) with Fancy Nights, as Hibiscus on its own is simply too sharp and masculine for me. Together they melded to perfection, but I wasn't smelling merely an improved Hibiscus... To test out my nose, I immediately sprayed Prada Amber on the other arm, & Voila, it is clear! Without doubt, Hibiscus and Fancy Nights together are magic - in other words, Prada Amber. This is as close to a perfect copy as you can get, and just as artistic and tasteful as the original, dare I say it.

If you've ever brought home gorgeously executed, reproduction art at a bargain price, you'll know how it feels to find such budget beauty. DARN good.

All this to say, isn't perfume exploration an artistic adventure?!

socorrosouza

This is not Andrier's work, it is from the 90s.In fact is my favorite amongst Prada perfumes, stronger, with a longer longevity.Andrier's work is more on the very soft side, and while it has good scents like Prada Candy Kiss and Infusion D'Iris, it has nothing with Amber's power and breath of conception, her perfumes are on the minimalist side.h

2004's PRADA Amber's true notes are listed above IN THE TEXT...

TOP-bergamot, bitter orange, mandarin, mimosa absolute
HEART-rose absolute, patchouli absolute
BASE-labdanum, Tonka beans, vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin

the "notes for votes" pictures are NOTE FOR NOTE those of PRADA Prada from 1990! ;-)

This is still listed as available on the PRADA site (under "Pradasphere/Fragrances") as of 24AUG2018; along with Amber Man & Amber Man Intense.

A gorgeous oriental!! A reference amber and another flawlessly blended elegant floriental from the hands of the uber-talented Daniela Andrier. All three of the femme flankers of AMBER are worth owning a delightful quartet of variations on a theme that never seem to become tiresome nor annoying.

Panache without pretense, this whole line (men's duo included) is worth sniffing out...before it goes the way of the dodo to make way for the "hommes et femmes" of tomorrow.

*sighs*

smell swell & be well,

gabbi4god

The name says it all. It’s very much Amber. It’s so extremely bold but to my nose not in a good way. I’m not an amber fan though. If you are than you will love this offering. It’s very strong, deep, resinous and ummm amber-y ha ha. It’s a no for my skin and chemistry but I appreciate the quality.

EDIT: Okay, sooooo I have to say I’m a little surprised by this Amber. I had formed an opinion based on my smelling it in the little bottle. I put it on my skin just to give it another chance and wow it’s gorgeous. It has a bit of that old fashioned smell to it that makes me very hesitant to wear but I’m learning to love this one for sure. Very nice.

justchillinxo

this is a very unique and bold fragrance. it is warm and rich, but also standoffish. i don't know why i love it so much, as when i put it on i'm a bit scared to wear it. definitely makes a statement. would not recommend for the office.

linoleum

Spicy woody powdery. Lots of spice. Interesting.
First time I use this, I can't stand it. It's almost as if someone spray some pepper spray on me.

A couple years I tried again and I can appreciate the bravery of this scent.

I like the dry down, the woody and spice now cooperate together instead one and another try to steal the spotlight

Piscean-Blue

It's hard not to love Prada Amber, but I can't really describe it as an everyday fragrance. This stuff is low-key beast! It's great when you need a warm (and intense) hug and a tremendous amount of soapy sweetness in your life. And trust me, after you spray the hug isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It lasts and lasts.

I can't really tolerate Prada Amber outside of the winter months. Way too heavy. But it's wonderful around the holidays. It's the olfactory equivalent of a thick Christmas sweater. Highly recommended.

Midnight Lady

Oh no. Doesn't work for me - the amber and patchouli is too sharp and strong - there's a presence of actually a very nice vanilla undertone trying to soften it. But not enough.

It's probably love or hate kind of a perfume and I obviously lean toward the second option. For me this smells old lady-ish and I can't imagine being in the same elevator with someone wearing this.

happy-knight

I own a 7ml mini bottle of this. Maybe it's my skin chemistry but it just doesn't seem to last long on me whatsoever,so it's hard to smell it on myself and I don't think I'll fill up a room or be more noticeable beyond close physical interactions. Its warm and a tad sweet from the amber, I can kind of see why it's seen as oriental a bit. It however smells too mature for me, it's not fun or interesting either. I probably wouldn't mind someone else with it on but I don't see this working for me.

Historically, Prada Amber was “created” by Mrs. Miuccia Prada with the help of notable perfumers in 2004, when she was seeking in her own words, “the memory of a scent she sampled as a teenager.” Mrs. Prada at sixteen would sneak into the bathroom in the house of her friend, whose mother originally owned the scent, only to smell it. She became obsessed with it. She’d go to New York to buy that perfume from the little artisanal shop on Madison Avenue called Shelley Marks, the only shop that offered it. But the shop at some point closed down—and this, for Mrs. Prada, was a disaster… So there came Prada Amber. It’s the scent she “still mostly wears today,” she admitted in an interview. It is then safe to say that Prada Amber is closest to Mrs. Prada’s heart. And to her character.

Admittedly, Mrs. Prada is a reserved person. Unlike other designers who enjoy the crowd after their shows, Mrs. Prada barely reveals herself to the audience. She’s shy and nervous, elusive in interviews even. Despite that, she has driven the Prada name to the luxury fashion house it is today. In parallel, this is what Prada Amber’s scent seems to me. And to some other reviewers I read here. “It is weak,” “It does smell like a nice woman, but I cannot imagine a power woman wearing this,” some said. To me, Prada Amber doesn’t smell like a typical Miranda Priestly. But it does smell sophisticated. Its being juicy and dry makes it beautiful. It does have a staying power—lasting a decent amount of time for seven to ten hours—though sometimes it feels like it’s faded. It breaks the stereotype of a strong personality and implies that silence could mean power, while loudness could mean insecurity.

Seasonally, I buy my mother her fragrances every other month or so, and for this season, I bought Prada Amber for her. Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense has been my favorite fragrance for a long time now, my signature, so maybe I wanted the same house for my mother. Christmas or Hanukah—whatever we call it—is a special occasion for most of us, so gifts should be just as special. And when I first sprayed Prada Amber, as noted by many, it reminded me of Jessica Simpson’s Fancy Nights, which I purposefully bought for comparison.

Comparatively, the two fragrances resemble each other at a margin of 97 percent, a pretentious-sounding but instinct-driven figure by me. Much like identical twins sporting two different tastes. While Jessica Simpson’s Fancy Nights smells like a “dense amber the color of dark caramel,” Prada Amber is more light and airy. It smells like a “radiant amber the color of gold”—the kind that glows, or sometimes burns.

polkadot27

Wow, this is my first time testing Prada Amber and the first thing that came to mind was Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights is that you? but at 5x the price? In different packaging? Never in my life have I detected 2 scents that so closely imitate each other. I won't review it as I have wrote an extensive review on Jessica Simpson Fancy nights and I honestly cannot detect any differences between the 2 to even do a comparison. If you are on a budget and aren't intent on having the brand name Prada in your collection- Opt for fancy nights and you will not be dissapointed!

I always spritz/test some Amber when I get the chance. It's just so beautifully done and shows that Mainstream/Designer fragrances once in a while steer into daring & great territory. Amber is deep, resinous and spicy while having a transparent quality at the same time. Perfume really is art! It's so gorgeous and def unisex. The trail it leaves behind is magnificent! And it sticks forever! My BF bought a car a while back and its former owner def used Prada Amber, it still smelled of it and I didn't mind that at all! :)

marina.zubov

Strong perfume but so beautiful when I grew up and turn twenty three for me that was the mature age I wore this parfum. Amber Prada is a classic green flower parfum. So many beautiful notes for me. Bergamot jasmine rose honey patchouli amber vanilla. This is Oriental and natural like a forest. Smell to me a bit like Ralph Lauren Safari for Women but with more amber and with delicious citrus and rose. Feminine and sexy. Is a good day time summer and spring time parfum for going out dressed suit blouse skirt or dress sundress has amazing time to wear on your skin for hours. A beautiful so beautiful parfum

over_caffeine

Fancy Nights clone! I say this because Fancy Nights is the more potent, longlasting version of this. If I don't have a bottle of Fancy Nights, and without knowing this is a Prada fragrance, I would think this is a fake Fancy Nights juice. Please save your money and get Fancy Nights at several discounters. I remember getting a full 100 ml bottle of Fancy Nights for $18. Get that instead and buy fancy makeup with the remaining money.

kati77

I got this perfume when it was cold outside.
Then it pushed me away, i didnt like it. Samples of resin and tonic, plus pepper and mimosa, gave such a mixture together.
Now it's the end of April and it's warm, but not sunny, spring like, it fits nicely, a little warmth like a cashmere sweater, and a bit like a strong cognac or floral essence. Vanilia, despite being in the composition, is not to out there.
How gorgeous Prada handbag is so great and this fragrance is.
I like it very much.Sweet in a dry way. Like dry wine way.
Classic it becomes. Longevity is great.

shawna_j_davis

I love this perfume, but even more so the body cream of the same scent which sadly has been discontinued. I could put the body cream on and it dried down to the most lovely scent. It smelled different than the perfume- softer, but it seemed to last longer than the fragrance on my skin at least.

Story time: I first sniffed this at a store when I was 10 or 11 years old and instantly fell in love. I did not care one bit that it was not remotely age appropriate (my other favorites were Dior's Poison and Coty Wild Musk...seems the more I've aged the less I've matured), I had to have it and requested it for Christmas. My dear father, who loves more "serious" perfumes and has since gifted me Chanel No. 5, No. 19, and Shalimar all before the ripe young age of 20, went ahead and bought me a 1oz bottle for Christmas. I was so overjoyed that I used the rest of my birthday money and allowance to buy him the men's version of Prada Amber. He found it to be too feminine, and let me keep the bottle, so I bathed myself in both forms of Prada Amber. Eventually, my grandmother sniffed the women's Prada Amber on me, declared it her new love and even said it would replace her signature Estée Lauder Intuition. I gave her my bottle though almost immediately bought myself a new bottle because I missed it so much. Needless to say, it is my signature, a likely lifelong affair, and now even a family affair. I will forever be purchasing bottles for myself and my beloved grandma. Yes, my 21 year old self and my 81 year old grandma both wear this and it suits us both to a t, though we have similar taste in perfumes in general it seems (I also got her onto MAC MV3). Even my dad never fails to compliment either of us on this. What can I say? It is perfect.

I'll start from the end:
I'm smelling this on the top of my hand and the sensation is woody, mysterious, a bit spicy - rather nice for a cold evening like tonight. I sprayed just a few atoms about two hours ago and now it's fine. But the opening and the heart notes were a nightmare - a horrid combination of leather, milk, honey and amber, with a huge dose of bitter woody notes (no, not sandalwood, rather guaiac or cedar and real, earthy patchouli), something like Avon's Prowl only multiplied by 10 and withoug Prowl's sweetness. Fading ylang-ylang blossom only makes it worse. I can imagine that this may smell sensational on someone but I'd personally rather forget about this perfume... for the time being. The longer, the better:D

Cassiano

Its official name is Prada Eau de Parfum, but it ended up becoming better known as Prada Amber because of the top plate that it brings in its bottle, containing the key ingredients of the composition and the term AMBER, highlighted. It was released in 2004 and creates a lot of confusion between users and reviewers because of another (and much older) perfume called Prada by Prada, from 1990, at a time when the company only released fragrances for sale exclusively in its boutiques.

Prada Amber does not have honey or ylang-ylang in its composition. And it also has no amber notes. The term comes from the olfactory family to which it pays homage: the ambery, full of oriental nuances and warm notes, as benzoin.
And since I'm talking about notes, here go the ones that make this fragrance: bergamot, bitter orange, mandarin and mimosa absolute, at the top. Then, in the body of the fragrance, absolute of roses and absolute of the patchouli leaves from Indonesia. Lastly, in the base, labdanum from France, tonka bean, vanilla, sandalwood from India and benzoin resin from Siam.

THE CORRECT NOTES ARE LISTED ABOVE, BUT THE PICTURES ARE DIFFERENT.

The key ingredients engraved on the top plate are not idle there. The company argues that each of them reflects one dimension of the fragrance: the resin of labdanum is precious, the patchouli leaves are addictive, the benzoin is profound and the Indian sandalwood is pure.

On the skin, Prada Amber is much more unisex than exclusively female. In fact, I dare say it would be an excellent version for the classic Le Male or, better yet, a feminine facet for the delicious Body Kouros.
From the moment it touches the skin, it is exotic and sensual. The bitter orange cuts off any attempt to become a sickly gourmand. And this mix of something silky and bitter often scare many women. The patchouli is the star of the composition and manages to convey earthy and chocolate nuances, all at once. But none of this would have reason to exist without the milky aspect of sandalwood, which leaves the fragrance almondy and smooth. In the end, throw it all on a vanilla base and you'll understand the power of Prada Amber, which projects very well, but tends to cause a certain fatigue. The person wearing it may not feel it anymore, but it is there, projecting a lot. The lasting is also wonderful!

In 2005, the company released an even more intense version and in 2006 the famous male version.
Next time you think that all Prada fragrance is light, elegant and soapy, remember this review and think of experimenting on your skin. You might be surprised, just like me.

Baby.01

Prada is really amazing perfume! Few years ago I didn't like them and felt that it is a strong oriental perfume for old ladies. But this changed when I tried it.
They are oriental warm and intriguing as they change on skin.

I love it! It is a sexy perfume! They are on my wish list for next perfume shopping!

Madrona

This scent reads golden orange and green to me. Soft patchouli and assorted green notes drenched in honey and benzoin with a runny non-sweet amber taking center stage. The sillage of this is minimal, one hour after application it's a skin scent on me, so it's a treat for the people that get close. I feel like this perfume references the late 80's and early 90's particular flavor of elegance and femininity but without feeling "dated" in the least (if such a thing as dated perfume even exists). Still, it doesn't entice me enough to be more than a like.

fyre92

Im getting really strong savory dinner vibes from this...... I still like it lol

_christine_

Prada Amber reminds me of many other scents, but it's got what my dad describes as "that hippie smell" going that I love. (Dad probably means the patchouli.) Prada Amber is like a Phish/Dead show without the body odor.

Prada Amber is really quite akin to the Prada design aesthetic - strong, sophisticated, luxurious and TOTALLY unapologetic.

laulaura

I bought some sample of this a year ago. I thought it would be a well blended woody perfume wich it is. It is also a difficult fragrance.
The first spray is intense and i can subtly sense the vanilla and sweet honey. I am not familiar with amber in a perfume, the benzoin note in this i like.In nature there was this sticky 'glue' on crust of trees, remembering it from when little. A pine forest comes in mind. I also have some jewelry made of amber.
Anyway it smells like a hippie or Indian shop green and earthy, you enter and the smell of burning incense sticks and lotions hit your nostrils. It reminds me of organic hand creams, i have some and they all share the same specific green smell.
It has a fresh cut grass smell to it and a metallic vibe. It is fresh and stimulating and unisex as well, i would spray my room with it rather than wear it. Smells like some spice for making food.
It is also alluring and balsamic intense, smells of anise wich dominates the other notes, patchouli and green herbal and the tonka bean note stands out.it is an interesting fragrance nevertheless.
After an hour the smell loses intensity after two hours almost fades away.

redskyatnight

Blissful at first, with herbal anise mixed with caramelic amber. Smells playfully sexy, inviting, alluring. Still good after an hour, when it becomes warm, woody butterscotch. Then it becomes a bit cloying and synthetic after a few hours. I think I could handle that part, and I love the concept, I just wish it were carried out a little better.

betonce22

I always sleep with fragrance. I liked this and gave my collar bone a small spray and drifted off to delicious sleep. Morning....the remaining notes made me sick. It was truly awful and I scrubbed it off. So, clearly, this is not for me

janeofdoe

I bought this for its comparison to my perfection perfume (jessica simpson fancy nights) isnt it usually the other way around? Anyway...

I can smell the resemblance. I definitely get it....but this doesn't wear half as long and this isn't as deep as fancy nights. Seriously. And this is coming from a celebrity scent snob! This is pretty nevertheless. It's just not worth the price tag. Seriously, go get a bottle of fancy nights.

tyekristopher

Ok so, I have this on my left hand and it smells very faint, I do not like this on the card but on my skin it is lovely. I have fancy nights on my other hand and it is holding up better. They smell just the same but I will stay with Jessica Simpson fancy nights, its cheaper and wears longer

Eesa

I really do not like the opening of this perfume; the tarragon and green notes are very strong and unpleasant for me, a sickening turnoff. After a while it does dry down to a pleasant scent, a sweet-sour patchouli vanilla. That stage is very similar to the dry-down on a different scent that I have, Shiseido Zen Secret Bloom. I much prefer the opening on Secret Bloom though.

jessora

I asked for a recommendation from the Sephora associate and she typed up "incense" in her computer. She showed me this and Tom Ford BO.

I immediately liked the feminine green note (smelled to me like really good quality green/peppery olive oil) and a nice balanced incense and flowers. I am awful at picking out flowers but I thought it may have been orange blossom (which is not listed, maybe it's just the lime). There is a slight earthy herbal, which could be tarragon mixed with patchouli but it definitely smelled a slight bit sweet/dark (tarragon, sasparilla, basil, anise, licorice all have that herbal sweet/dark quality). There is definitely amber in here that smells kind of like a dusky old music shop.

Enough of analyzing the ingredients, as a whole, I do find myself going back in time a little with this fragrance, half church mass, half Temple of Isis. Keep away from this if you want to smell like a fruity/floral/vanilla, it's very herbaceous incense floral.

Edemay

I asked my mum her opinion on this one
she screwed up her face and said "smells like pancakes"
I asked if that was a bad thing and she said no just smells like breakfast.

I personally smell sweet balminess that is kept fresh by the patchouli.
I didn't like it as first but on my skin this becomes quite creamy, sweet and the sillage is amazing.
Also LABDANUM is one of the major notes in this. Its even listed on the bottle.
I purchased this finally, i am so in love with this. Its that one perfume that makes you feel warm and happy inside.

Edit: I get what my mum was saying now, I sometimes smell banana fritters covered in syrup.

poolsoflaughter

I hated this for a good 30 minutes, then it really softened up to a slightly sweet, woodsy scent. The amber is noticeable, but in the background. I could wear this to the office, or a dinner date and not be considered obnoxious. Update: hours later, she's so soft and luxurious...I feel guilty for not liking her at first. She's definitely grown on me like a warm, beautiful parasite.

Prada by Prada (o anche Amber).

UnearthlyApothecary

I just have a little sample of this I got from a swap and I almost forgotten it but found it tonight and put it on after I showered and WOW this is beautiful. Very sappy. As in tree sap. I love that smell it is very nostalgic of my childhood in Colorado. If you love REAL Amber that smells that tree sap then this for you. This is for sure not that fake Amber you smell in everything. Definitely getting a bottle as soon as I can.

avagard

This one smells similar to Coromandel, except for the opening dewy green note absent in Coromandel. Not as loud as Coromandel and less "parfumey" it exudes class and sophistication. The patchouli is rendered exactly like in Coromandel, smooth and not at all earthy nor dirty. Extremely versatile and suitable for both genders and for every kind of situation. 8/10, Very good!

Nobrainer22tx

This should be called 'patchouli' instead of 'amber'. Patchouli is definitely the most noticeable scent here. But don't let that send you running.

So this was given to me by my mother-in-law, a woman who LOVES patchouli. Heavy heavy patchouli. Her favorite scent is Thiery Mugler Angel to give you an idea. She bought this for herself and wore it a while but she likes her Angel more because this patchouli wasn't quite "right" for her. I don't really mind patchouli... In a candle or incense or something.... But on me it just doesn't sit right and it COMPLETELY overwhelmes all other smells to my nose. I am NOT a fan of heavy patchouli scents, to me it's like what the classic "old lady" perfume would be described as. I do not want to smell "old lady".

Well, let me tell you this is one patchouli I actually don't mind & it doesn't smell terrible on me. I still don't love the patchouli in it but it's tolerable. Everything else in it balances it out nicely. That being said, I like it but don't love it, but if you are like me & just want something a little different than my usual then this is a nice try.

auroramaria

The only Prada I really love ,this amber is very warm and sultry and lasts forever unlike all the fragrances in the Candy line which I find a bit fleeting

theangryraisins

RE my previous review: Something about this fragrance is intellectual, too. I will be giving a presentation at the Western Psychological Association conference soon and I am considering wearing this perfume.

nettoyant

Herbal, green, balmy, and crisp, nothing like a patchouli only scent. Any sweetness is well tempered. Confident and modern.

theangryraisins

Fuzzy and juicy. Sensual and heady. Something about this is sophisticated and classic, yet not old lady-ish. Longevity is amazing!

jacmac

Patchouli amber bomb. Almost medicinal, reminds me of floor cleaner I used to own. I usually like patchouli perfumes, but this one stayed sharp and reminded me of patchouli scents emanating from stores that sell crystals and tarot cards. Not complex enough, as I feel like applying patchouli essential oil would be barely different.

fyre92

Bought the refill version of this frag since i think this thing needs to be DABBED not sprayed. It's much too MUCH to be spraying this lol

KarlekLila

I love this! I was given a bottle of the original formulation. It's very sweet in the bottle but masculine on my skin. It isn't a "sweet" vanillic, candy-like amber but does have a certain sweetness to it after awhile. As the masculine green notes and patchouli dries down out comes the benzoin and sandalwood with a hint of honey. Ultimately revealed upon dry down is a soft powdery amber on my skin with amazing sillage and longevity. I've worn it several times and always received compliments.

Be warned: 1 or 2 sprays MAX is MORE than enough. Any more than that is headache inducing to one's self and those around you. It will clear a room! This is potent stuff! Sillage: Huge! Longevity: 12+ hours.

kellymi

I love this.

It transitions on my skin, some chocolate, a bit of vanilla, and a constant of powdery amber and patchouli.

Some say it reminds them of Fancy Night, I can see that--except I hate Fancy Night, on me it is cloying. But this, oh this is rich.

It has a few loud moments, some musty ones too--but that is part of the allure for me.

Great longevity and sillage, be careful not to be heavy-handed when spraying :)

la fleur dorée

Bought a bottle in the early '90. Loved it. The spraying cap went off _ I salvaged what was left to a glass vial. Enjoyed it to the last drop. Sharpness and sweetness were very balanced, an almost bitter and aromatic opening spelled confidence, and the spicy - ambery middle phase was elegant but also so companionable. Than a long pause. I considered buying it again. Magic was gone - no more depth, no more vanilla outcome, a charmless thing. I guess skin chemistry changes with time, too.

boheme_maras

So similar to my beloved midnight poison by Dior!

Strange_Alchemy

This is a a horror story on me.

I was headed back home from vacation abroad, and found the perfume in the duty-free shop. I was so excited to try it I sprayed right on my arm.

First, it was BO. No sweetness, no citrus...just animal ass rubbed on patchouli armpit. What's worse, sillage is MASSIVE on me - I had people cursing me in the homeland security line, but no louder than I cursed myself for blindly spraying it on my skin.

I have discovered the hard way that any perfume where 'balsamic' or 'patchouli' is listed foremost is not for me.

Happyme2009

Stunning opening notes, middle is a patchouli bomb. If you are a patch hater stay away... clearly not my style of writing a review, I am just so amazed at how much patchouli it has. Resembles somewhat Real Patchouli from Bois 1920 which is a good thing. A classic oriental.

Photojenchick

I love this. Well-crafted, balanced throughout its layers, and long lasting- though its final hours offer no throw, lying close to the skin instead. Exactly where I want it. For me, it wears well year-round, so long as not over sprayed. A dark citrus twinge blooms in the 95 degree, 100% humidity-filled summers here in my neck of the woods. In the winter, its amber, spice, & vanilla radiate a warmth that never veers into potpourri territory. I bounce mercilessly from fragrance to fragrance, but always return to Prada, especially when I want patchouli and amber delivered subtly.

With regards to the Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights comparison; absolutely similar. I have & enjoy them both. But, to me, Prada captures the feeling of being inside a beautiful, deep forest. Its floor is a carpet of dew-drenched, patchouli-laced moss, intermingled with damp earth and fallen trees. JS' Fancy Nights is much drier than Prada to my nose. Instead of traveling deep into the forest and hovering an inch above the ground, FN is content to stay at the forest's edge, where the first few feet of earth and trees are still within reach of sunlight and wind. The papyrus and resulting dryness in FN amps up the bergamot, citrus, in a way that is absent on my skin with Prada. My preference depends on mood. FN is quite full-throttle. Prada is subtle, subterranean in comparison.

Only ~5 of the fragrances in my collection do I become anxious as the levels drop low in their bottles, that I refuse to be without, and Prada is 1 of the 5. ❤️

EDIT: Should be sold with a Gremlins-like warning label: Morphs into a monster without proper care. This one is heavy on natural essences, sparse on synthetics and preservatives. Stable it is not. Time, oxygen, light and heat are its mortal enemies. More susceptible to them than any other fragrance I've come across. I've learned never to order it online during the summer. It never survives the trip. There is no mistaking when PA turns. Acrid and sour and a terrible shame. Just something to consider before buying: Requires TLC.

GrandmaGaga

Got this sample in a giveaway...whether you end up loving, hating or feeling quite indifferent to a scent, sampling is so important! Well, I ended up not liking this; although it is admittedly well-blended and smells expensive, it's ultimately not for me and I will pass this sample on. Because I felt similarly about TM's Angel and JC's Jimmy Choo, I suspect it is the patchouli in all three that turns me off. Oh, well...off to (happily) sample some more!

lirael00

Few years back i got fancy nights and i was totaly smitten by that gem. As so many people suggested that fancy nights is similar to Prada Amber i knew that a day will come when I'll own it! So now i have it and yes i like it a lot, like fancy nights it really knows how to work patchouli and this is the only frag that for me makes patchouli smells amazing! Warm, rich, deep it reminds me earth, rain and magic!try it if you have a chance. Amazing longevity too. Pure joy!

laurenz

I am a big lover of this kind of scent. Patchouli, benzoin, amber?! Sign me up. And it exceeded my expectations. Rich, resinous, all-encompassing. It's incredibly warm, but somehow has a touch of coolness, "aloofness" almost. It has this very comforting quality to it. It has this cleanness to it that you don't often find in this type of fragrance. Kind of like Infusion d'Iris (another favorite). One of my favorites.

lord montifer

Love this. It is, as many reviews point out, nearly identical to Jessica Simpson's Fancy Nights. Identical to me in fact. Possibly a little quieter and easier to wear. Never smelt a perfume so close to another one before. ...both are beautiful and signature worthy but FN is so much cheaper. The patchouli is gorgeous in both!

joygrassman

The first time I smelled this perfume on somone, I practically tackled a stranger to find out what it was. I was a good 6-feet away from her and I just HAD to know what it was. After she realized I wasn't dangerous, rather earnestly intrigued, she reluctantly told me what it was.

I wore it for years after that, and them I met the current man in my life who absolutely despises it because it reminds him of someone. Unfortunately I can now only wear this on the rare occasion he isn't around, and when I do I feel ELECTRIC and sexy. It's such a sultry and sophisticated acent.

Initially it is VERY overwhelming, but it mellows nicely without actually changing. This is one perfume that doesn't change on my skin, which is VERY unusual for me. This has been my favorite years. I love all the incense-y notes of sandalwood, patchouli and musk. I feel like it's something an Egyptian goddess would have worn millenia ago. Sniffalicious.

Venusia

What an amazing versatile scent. At first I get a strong citrus-patchouli-tarragon vibe quite sour, worrying and intrigueing, but after an hour or so it turns into this gorgeous flowery amber benzoin green and a little musky scent that last at least 4-6 hours and then dries down to a vanillated-dry fruit-sandal wood smell. Actually in this phase the sillage is still dominated by the middle notes but the skin smells like vanilla, dry fruits and wood. Sillage and and longevity are therefore great for my skin. Absolutely refined and elegant scent! Maybe the finest perfume I've got...

shell_bell

Upon first application I was overwhelmed by benzoin and generic florals...no sign of the amber in the name or anything I could latch onto. I thought, "What's the big deal? How could this have so many loves?"

Then about a half hour later I could see why this is so popular.

Every note softened immensely to a creamy vanilla scoop of ice cream on my skin drizzled in honey with amber alongside a small dish of fresh fruits. Pretty amazing. There is nothing else like this in my collection.

Not sure if I like this well enough to invest in a large bottle but it sure satisfies *this* gourmand-lover's sweet tooth in a gentle way. This might hit you over the head at the start but sit tight and let the slightly powdery drydown take you away on a dessert break. :)

basgam

The description 'balsamic' is very precise here, and to me it is smell of a high-class, and rather minimalistic woman. For some reason I connect the fragrance with a fashion-show-like grey cashmere jumper, and I don't think that it can be worn by all ladies. Rather mature fragrance which should be worn like a voile, close to the skin. Not to be overdone.

Angeldaisy

to me, it wears exactly the same as Fancy Nights (i have them on each wrist right now)...i honestly can hardly tell them apart.
the Prada is slightly more wearable, but really...they are the same and it is clear that FN has been inspired by this. but i have to say FN lasts about 3 times longer.

PA has lasted only 2 hours and there is minimum sillage, for say 10 minutes!

i have infusion de tubereuse and am surprised by Prada Amber's lack of staying power or substance.

smells nice, but am disappointed :-(

heather62

I totally love this fragrance. Perfect for me. Not too sweet. A little womanly, a little masculine. Lasts forever. Beautiful dry down. I have the real thing plus a dupe I bought and love from haywardenterprises.com.

I am one of those people that have a lot of trouble choosing a signature fragrance because I love too many of them and I am constantly falling in and out of love with them. However, with this one, I have worn it literally every day since I got it.

This really does smell so much like Fancy Nights.

Update: sometimes I layer this slightly with Cobra by Al Rehab. I get a lot of compliments with that combo.

Esztee

Very green scent , very strong amber and patchouli . I see why people love this scent however it makes me feel unwell . It is not a perfume for me unfortunately

chrissyc15

I received a sample of this when I purchased Prada Candy... I first I thought is was way to mature and almost immediately wanted to go wash it off. I was actually on the way to do so and something distracted me. Because of this, I was able to last to the dry down. OH WOW!!!!! So glad I did not wash this beauty way!!! It is absolutely lovely! The dry down on me is a honey vanilla patchouli that smells "slightly" similar to Guilty by Gucci. The sandalwood smoothes it all out and helps the honey and vanilla in giving that hint of sweetness. I typically do no like perfumes that are "balsamic", but I am LOVING this! Now to get my hands on a full bottle!

AllyWillems

My mom had a left over half full 80ml bottle of this so I tried it out. It is LOVELY. It's the vanilla scent I've been looking for, the even dressier companion to YSL Cinema. I do love this. On my skin it doesn't come across as too mature but it is so sophisticated and warm. Great find.

mystica

This perfume is darn sexy. A very clean and sensual patchouli; indeed the best clean patchouli scent which still has a dewy, great depth.

This scent is for a woman, I can't imagine it coming together with a pinky/girly attitude.

I suggest that you avoid using it in confined or poorly ventilated spaces since it tends to get extremely strong blossoming on your skin.

Once I had unknowingly worn this for a job interview only to find myself in a tiny, wardrobe like "office" with the person in charge -the owner of the art gallery. Needless to say, I couldn't get the job, the effect combined with my gothic looks as well...

I think anyway my perception of art was (and is) way different, but I believe this juice has the potential to intimidate especially timid males. But since that's another thing which I am not after... well.

balzac

It just floors me when I read "old lady-ish" about Prada (Amber). It smells very clear, despite it's complexities. It's exotic, sexy, and glamorous. I wear this when I project streamline fashion or a clean simple minimalistic style... or else for me, it can have that FUSSY feeling, not put together...or way to much stressing before actually going out. When wearing Prada (Amber) you're basically dressed from head to toe already so there is no need for fussing about.

Confidence at times here is mistaken for "old" but it's a scent for those who know how to rock this, it has nothing to do with old lady what-so-ever so pay no mind to that. This is an expensive smelling thin stick incense and it's very runway.

The scent itself is elegant, fresh and uncommon.
It has a nice sillage, a good projection and the longevity is great.
* I believe it's best worn during evenings and nights.

This's the first perfume that I disliked but still bought it. I think it is too sweet at first try. Anyway, I will give it another try, since it's already stayed on my shelf.

This is a special scent for me, so special I chose to wear it on my wedding day.
It is a warm smell, thick with amber (duh :P) and patchouli. It is not for everyday wear, there is something luxurious and rich about it that demands it be saved for more special times. It is a strong scent for a strong woman!
If I am down, smelling this will make my mood lift.

At first at smell only amber , nothing ellse. As i have a piece of amber in my hand. Than after 15 min it developes into vanilla , sweet . Very beautiful.
Strange that i can not smell patchouli ?!?!!!
Update
Finally patchouli appeared ,tried again in cold weather
Some similiarities to midnight poison i have to agree

Woody, earthy, subtly sweet, and very SMOOTH. I love the smell of this so much. Has an incense-y feel, exotic, and sexy. Great sillage and longevity. It is on my want list after my cheaper alternative is all used up. Just a great fragrance. Great for a night scent.

Note: I own JS 'Fancy Nights' and it smells very similar for those who want a less expensive alternative. I think it may be discontinued however.

aquamoon

Sexy and elegant, my favorite from Prada. It has extremely strong woody notes, almost on the edge of masculine.I find it on the same level as Tom Ford's oud line perfumes.

pauroj

nice expensive and incredibly strong , this is a sillage monster , lovely a bit cold
definitely not work friendly unless sprayed super careful

Prada Amber really reminded me of Angel, that same dirty, earthy patchouli. Especially on my skin, patchouli remained strong for a good hour. It later mellows but stays as a very notable. What i also get from Prada Amber are some notes which are not listed, but surely come as the result of mix of those notes that are listed above. First at the opening strong smell of olives, or rather olive oil, i swear i could even taste olive oil and, when that patchouli calms down a bit, smell of chocolate (mix of resins and honey?). After the patchouli hysteria and very loud, very noticeable opening at first half an hour to an hour, Prada Amber suddenly quiets down. Like it's being cut in half. It is sweet perfume but not as sweet as Flowerbomb or La vie est belle (to me those are sweetest that comes to mind). And what i really like about this perfume is the smell of wet earth and something like dampness of old houses, that remains from beginning till end. I can't say anything about flowers since i can't really smell any of them.
And not to forget to say about longevity, it is very good. I sprayed it some 13-14 hours ago and it is still present, only i need to really press my nose against skin to smell it and i can say what is left now is that general sweetness. But, for the first 7-8 hours you will be very aware it is there. Sillage is, after insane opening minutes, moderate. You will be able to smell it and enjoy it a long time without bothering anyone around you. It is actually how i like a perfume to be, moderate sillage and good longevity, and it is very stabile perfume.
So, if you are one of those who like Angel and its patchouli, like i am, you will also like this Prada. To me this is baby Angel :)

It's a great scent but it might be a little to mature for me :( people tell me I smell like an old lady :( so sad cause I like it. I'm only 27 , I am old what the hell?

hazelnut

Theoretically, I should love this. Unfortunately,it doesnt agree with my chemistry. I smell"old-lady-ish". I really wanted to love this...wish I could.

I know I am the minority here, but I feel that this smells dirty… Unnecessarily complex. Not in a sexy way either. I came very close to blind buying this because of all of the positive reviews and I am so glad that I didn't.

Deirdre1969

My sister wears amber oil and used to be very fond of patchouli, and I am seriously considering getting this perfume for her. I tried it on myself and it totally reminded me of scents she likes - the whole Sis-world of incense, bohemian clothes and jewelry, belly dancing, Renaissance fairs, theater, art.
It's very sweet and pretty, but also alluring, spicy, and very incensy-patchouly. I get sandalwood too, which I always like. If I want to smell like my sister, or just be reminded of her, this is what I should wear.
The store didn't have L'Eau Ambree or I would have compared them.
Longevity was great and it didn't change to anything unpleasant on my skin, although the drydown reminded me a LOT of Infusion d'Iris.

A complex fragrance that can be very elegant. On me, it smells like a fancy baby powder. Yes, it is powdery. Smells sweet. For me to be a winner, it has to have this "EXOTIC" and "WILD" factor that this perfume is lacking. Pure amber with patchouli, nice, sweet, SOFT... but it is not me. Gave it to my mom, and she seems to be "OK" with it, she prefers jasmine based fragrances.

This perfume is calmed, pacific, a mature mom that bake cakes for her child, you can trust her, she will give you a smile, and she wears a beautiful pastel sweater.

Evelyn Orchid

At first sprinkle it is just nice, heavy but elegant, and then, a bit later, it becomes beautifully arranged, sensual and feminine. Since I wear it continuously lately, as soon as I open my wardrobe I get enchanted by the scent coming from my clothes as a breeze, warm, comforting and luxurious. I find it perfect for winter accompanied by a classic cozy winter nights image: a fireplace with some hot chocolate....

ScarlettX

A strong, intensive fragrance, full of wonderful notes. Sweet patchouli and vanilla make an interesting compostion with all of those spicy notes and amber and somehow I smell chocolate.
I also sense honey intensively for some reason.
I believe it's better for mature women. I find it balsamic, spicy and sweet at the same time. I like the diversity, but I can't imagine myself wearing it.

Ashen-Penadur

I bought this scent when I went to a perfume shop looking for a perfume with patchouli and without vanilla. I bought this and found out later I was misadvised, as it does have vanilla in it. I can tell, too, which is a shame as I'm not a fan of vanilla and think it overpowers the patchouli, which I love.
My goal was to find a perfume closest to Lush's shower gel, Tramp, which is discontinued but was my favourite scent ever. Tramp consists of white horehound infusion (musky), balm infusion (melissa officinalis, gentle lemon scent), patchouli oil, oakmoss absolute and eugenol (clove-like). Prada (Amber) is ultimitely not the scent I'm looking for, but I still like it and am keeping it for best at the moment. However, it does not carry well enough in strength or longevity for my liking and nobody has ever complimented me whilst wearing it yet, which means it is currently failing my acid-test for perfume success.

Prada Amber was meant to be a modern take on essential oils, according to Prada. An amber scent built around patchouli, sandalwood, labdanum resin and benzoin.

The amber and patchouli in Prada Amber are prominent from the first spray, green and citrus notes decorate the top, but are fleeting. The floral middle is almost undetectable and vanilla wafts in at the base. However, it is patchouli and amber that are the real features here. But this is an amber for the new generation; warm but not too heavy, nothing like the powerhouses of decades past.

Although this is a modern fragrance, it does not bow down to the modern convention of dousing everything in sugary sweets in order to attract a young audience. Some people more accustomed in this way have labelled this a 'grandma scent'. it is not, rather this is the fragrance for the forward-thinking professional woman.

This fragrance is not particularly original nor unconventional, neither is it blatantly commercial. Elegant but not showy, and targeted to women rather than girls. A good winter fragrance for work and play. Silage is moderate and lasts around 9 hours.

incredible very nice wonderful really

IvyRom

it's strange fragrance,it changes from nice spicy to strong vanilla which is killing me...after a while I put attention that it depends on a day of my cycle,I barely know such fragrances that would be so sensitive to the hormonal status of a skin :( I stopped using it because I dont want to "fall" to vanilla days...

Raven NessRavenous

I used to be the loathed outcast Queen of Pure Patchouli Oil. I forfeited my crown when my loved ones convinced me it was too much and I could not be teaching children and giving the impression that I lived a counter culture lifestyle. One of my sweet students bought me a bottle of Prada for Christmas one year and said, "It is like that hippie oil you wear but better for a teacher." I loved it! It was like sophisticated Nag Champa! I wore the stuff for a few winters (never in the Tennessee summer heat). Now I am married and my husband cannot tolerate the smallest suggestion of patchouli, so I retired my bottle my dresser and took a whiff and smiled at the kind gesture of my student. If you love patchouli but need something not so unadulterated like the POE, try Prada. Expensive and I was blessed to get it as a present!

Orjen

Here's to hoping that this is, in fact, the fragrance I'm referring to, as mine is a miniature with only "Prada" enscribed on the bottle. However, I have searched the internet long and wide and I am pretty sure this is the only one corresponding to what I have.

I love it! The word I would say describes it best is "buttery". Whenever I put it on, I am reminded of a rich slab of melting butter. It is also a velvety vanilla kind of fragrance. This is so alluring, so compelling that its texture is almost palpable. Definitely a multi-dimensional perfume, not for very young women but for those looking for a challenge.

One of the few perfumes that gets people to ask me what I'm wearing when I do. I'm sure some of them don't find it appealling, but they are intrigued.

This has become my go to scent for situations where I need a confidence boost (but without being too sexy or outrageous). One of the patchouli scents that I love as it's really well balanced and has none of the omnipresent fruit-chouli thing going on. I agree with countless other reviewers that Fancy Nights is very similar (and more affordable) but there is a richness in this that reminds me why it was once the heir apparent to become my signature, it must be the benzoin that does it to me. When I first bought Prada Amber I had just a few perfumes and it didn't occur to me that there was such thing as "summer" and "winter" fumes so I wore this frequently in warmer weather too which may have put me (and others around me) off a little. It is better suited to autumn and winter for sure.

green_green_eyes

This is my olfactory definition of femininity.

Seductive dusty vanilla accompanied by spicy, oriental labdanum. It seriously changes your mood, makes you feel confident and flirty, even if you wear jeans and white t-shirt ;)

Absolute LOVE in a bottle!

Edit: My friend thinks it smells like an old cook book that someone accidentally splashed with vanilla extract and left in the sun to dry. Hmmmm.

So strange, at first sniff I thought Huh? Coco Mademoiselle? Chance? It was the patchouli I guess. Somehow in 2014, this is a little bit like too many things out there.

Germany

Auroramaria nailed this scent ! I use to wear it all the time. It's amazing really! Its coromandel les exclusives by Chanel in Prada version. I absolutely adore this scent and will always have a bottle. Its elegance and sensuality in a bottle. Yes it comes off strong but the dry down is creamy and sensual and a wonderful skin scent after a few hours that will give you lots of attention and compliments. I know some women that will only wear this !
Patchouli , Amber and vanilla dominates the dry down , In a earthy natural warm creamy way. Its a winner ! It's very classy and ladylike. You have to like earthy dry patchouli in order to appreciate it.
The musk makes it creamy but it never gets really sweet.

I sprayed this on in the store and hung out with it for awhile, I must say that this is ALL amber on me. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE amber :)
I like it and would love this in fall/winter best I think?
I just wish my pocketbook liked it :(
