Totally agree with the listed main accords: citrus, woody, aromatic. Ofcourse you can smell the lemon in here, but to me the fragrance doesn’t smell just like a freshly peeled lemon because the woody and aromatic notes are just as prominent. It smells quite herbal and makes me think of Kneipp bath oil (they use essential oils in their products, like cedar/eucalyptus/juniper etc.). I find it more masculine leaning.

medwatt

This smells exactly like peeling the skin of a lemon. That's about it.

FreshNBussin

The most realistic lemon frag I've come across so far. Good potential for layering with other freshies. Nothing mind blowing but very pleasant. Worth a sniff.

Joostwag

I do love this, but my girlfriend and parents think this smells like those lemon scented candles you use while camping to keep flies away. They also said it smells like cleaning products.

I think the appeal for most people who like this fragrance is its simplicity, but that is also its downfall. I paid €200 for this, and it is a fragrance that’s more bland than club de nuit intense man for €30. This might be slightly stronger, and this lasted 13 hours on me, but I would say it is hard to justify the price of acqua Viva.

Not_So_Perfumy

I like lemon a lot, but I like fresh, juicy lemon.
This is more of a lemon candy type of perfume, which isn't my thing.
It's not that different from Eau d'Hadrien, and if I have to chose, I will take the latter.
A pass.

Vickalicious

This opens with a blast of sugary & sour lemon- it smells like Lemonhead candies to me. As it dries down the woody accords (cedar and cypress) start to emerge, transitioning into a lemon-centric Mediterranean-style cologne. I get a fair amount of the cypress in this. Additionally, I pick up something slightly aquatic/marine about it as it's drying down (although I would not classify this as an aquatic/marine fragrance). I understand the comparison to Eau d'Hadrien- I find them very similar, but this has much better performance. Is unisex, leaning more masculine as it dries down, IMO.

scenth0und

The truest and most beautiful lemon cologne I have had the fortune of testing. Bitter, sun-warmed, freshly peeled lemon. Zingy and punchy and grounded by the subtle cedar and cypress. Delicious and beautiful. Deserves to be worn with an icy drink in hand, under a blazing blue sky, with a gentle sea breeze as an added bonus. I am a citrus lover and I love this scent.

Enrium

After the truly impressive marine scent that is Acqua di Sale, Acqua Viva has less of an impact. A lemon cologne with an aromatic undertone, it is a fine example of its genre, but isn't a technical marvel like the aforementioned ADS.

AV opens with a bright, tart lemon note, zesty and intense. Lemon can be a difficult citrus note to get right - it can resemble cleaning products or cough lozenges, and unfortunately, it is the latter in this case. Strong, medicinal and slightly synthetic, it isn't the best lemon-led cologne I've smelled. However, the aromatic green undertone tempers it nicely. Pine-like and earthy, AV becomes very pleasant when this green accord emerges.

Dry woody notes emerge as it develops, complementing the aromatic lemon - a predictable progression for such a scent. It is well-blended throughout - it doesn't deviate much from the woody-lemon-pine accord that forms the crux of this scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate - decent performance for a scent of its profile.

A unisex lemon cologne with a woody, aromatic base, AV is good-quality and lasts well, but the lemon note here isn't to my taste, and overall I find it somewhat overpriced for what it is. Still, not bad, and a good choice for lemon lovers who prize performance. 3/5.

SMDaka

Ok, I can't be the only one who thinks this smells like a lemon lozenge or Lemsip. This is too medicinal for my taste

USMCGuitarHero

Sitting on the grass in the sweltering San Diego sun eating a sack lunch. I'm working on a slightly soggy poorboy sandwich and a half-pint of 2% milk, but I can tell that there is almost certainly a bag of orange slices in there somewhere... or at least I was, but they turned out lemons.

Honestly, I can't tell if this just has trash longevity or my skin just drinks it... either way, not for me. The scent itself is quite enjoyable, though - great summery citrus bomb.

Marie20707

This is like sitting under a beautiful lemon tree on bright sunny day with the Amalfi coast in the background. You’re sipping a delightful, cool beverage just enjoying the magnificence of the crisp wondrous smells.

This is one of the few lemon fragrances that doesn’t give pledge or lemon cleaner vibes. The lemon in this is beautifully done as it is a realistic lemon note nuanced by the cypress and cedar. The laburnum note is doing what it’s supposed to, it’s giving this fragrance the depth of a beautiful tree and not just a flat lemon fragrance.

This is very well blended. It’s fresh without any sharpness , because some fresh fragrances have a sharpness in them. It’s a stunner in the heat, but i personally would wear it on days where it’s not as hot too, just because I enjoy this fragrance.

As with anything, try before you buy. Check for a sample or a decant. Chemistry plays a huge part, so test everything before you commit to anything.

I like this alot. It reminds me a lot of Tangerine Boy and Dior Homme cologne but with added depth with the cedar and cypress. It would have been a love for me if I never tried the previous fragrances I mentioned but since this DNA is a bit familiar to me it doesn’t wow me as much. I like the added notes though that give it more body but I’m not sure if I’ll commit to a full bottle with the price it has, maybe one day. 8/10

RULE NO 1: ALWAYS, always, sample first at different times and occasions and then decide to pull the trigger.

RULE NO 2: There is no such thing as BLIND BUY. So re-visit Rule 1, when you are tempted to fall for the reviews especially by social media influencers ( especially the ones who flaunt their sex appeal)

DAMP SQUIB!

After the all the hyped up reviews, I bought a sample. Damp squib! Nice lemon detergent! I would NOT buy this for even a 20% of the price. This will NOT even qualify for a room freshener.

Try Bohemian Lime from Goldfield Banks, absolutely intoxicating! A hidden gem!

DYNABLASTER77

Dior copied it and made it a bit better as Homme Cologne, opening is horrible, but after that it smells good, doesn't like direct sunlight and sweat

Big Johnson enjoyer

Smells like lemon heads candy lol, not bad but more zesty and less juicy than I would want as a guy, not a fan, not even sure I’d want my girl to smell like this either

Fragfragbagbag

This is the lemon cologne I’ve (you’ve) been searching for forever. It’s bright, realistic, slightly bitter, complex and (to back everyone up) lasts incredibly long for a citrus scent. Just got back from Sorrento and can attest that the lemon is identical to my nose, legit. I have to say I don’t get a lot of the other notes but I’m also sampling from a vial and not an atomizer. I also don’t care because it’s still incredible. It’s on the expensive side but I cannot help myself from buying a bottle.

This puts to rest a near 15 year search. If you want to smell like the best goddamn lemons on earth, nothing comes close to this.

Lykopa

Fresh lemon peel! The most zingy and realistic one there is! This is absolutely perfect! It’s sharp and well made, and the projection is amazing for a citrus fragrance. The Best Lemon.

Tsvetomir Venchov

If you wanna feel like you’re chopping lemons that’s the right fragrance. Lemon peel in a bottle.

JasKiew

This is Very Very Expensive Lemon. Pretty much linear until the lemon goes weaker and u get the cedar Cypress. Only for lemon lovers

derby2169

A clear offspring of Eau d'Hadrien, very very close, and this comes from someone who wore Eau d'Hadrien every day for a whole Summer. Acqua Viva has however about 100 times the staying power and projection and this comes from a distinct lemon sherbet-like compound which is not part of the Goutal and a lot more saltiness. That lemon sherbet note eventual turns a bit stale on my skin and starts resembling lemon scented powdered soap.

At the end of the day its a matter of form rather than actual scent, both the Goutal and the Profvmvm deliver excellent quality, the question is if you care about ideal performance or ideal structure, with the Goutal feeling more natural, ethereal and shimmery, the Profvmvm potentially filling a room in the Summertime.

rasputin1963

Just received a bottle for my birthday! It's a marvelous scent. As many have mentioned, it's a very realistic fresh bright lemon solinote... and surprisingly, it does not smell like household cleansers, or Pledge or those wet-wipes for your hands. The lemon quality is not sweet, and never starts smelling like Lemonheads, Fruity Pebbles or limoncello.

The lemon is carefully supported by delicate notes of cypress, cedar and broom (also known as laburnum, Ginster or genêt). And of those supporting notes, only the broom do I really perceive: it smells like dried reeds along a sand dune... Thus it subtly reinforces the summery vibe of the perfume. Yet it's fair to call this perfume a "solinote", essentially.

For a lemon scent, ACQUA VIVA surprisingly lasts several hours on the skin, without need of a top-up.

The scent basically gives you a feeling off dapper clean freshness. Bliss during warm weather. Highly recommended! My humble opinion is: It's the very best of the lemon-forward perfumes.

nicetosmellyou

Blown away by this fragrance. Maybe the best citrus fragrance ever like said below. When you initially spray it on you will pick up on green facets. It reminded me of Nio by Xerjoff. After that, it smells EXACTLY, and I'm not exaggerating, like you sliced a juicy lemon and smelled it. It's so realistic and natural. It lasts very long and projects like crazy. I heard theres 42% perfume oil concentration in here too which is just amazing

Bob Cage

Natural, citrus heaven. Best citrus frag ever? YES. The is so simple and natural, they’ll be no synthetic nonsense here. It’s not sharp and isn’t just lemon citrus wise. There’s neroli and orange faucets too. This lemon is Far from screechy. It’s heaven.

Fabean

I know many people aren't fans of this as it is pretty linear but I love it. It's sort of similar to Eau D'Hadrien but it has more lemon and very little cypress which made Eau D'Hadrien hard for me to wear. I love how real the lemon scent is and it survives on the t-shirt through the washing machine which speaks about its longevity and it also fills a room easily. Something I learned about with this scent is if you rub it on like Profumum Roma tells you to, you can get a floral touch in the dry down which is kinda nice and it makes it lighter but it comes out around 6-7hrs after wearing it on my skin. Over spraying it or spraying it on clothes keeps the scent pretty linear. It was my first full bottle niche so its got sentimental value to me and it will probably be in my collection forever. It is a really nice fragrance and the Profumum Roma house deserves more recognition cause they make really great quality perfumes.

ShaunMichael

Lemon lemon lemon. What’s best about it is it doesnt smell cheap. It’s nice. I’m not sure it’s interesting enough for me. I understand the lemon pledge reference. But it’s well done.

drakelito

One of the best lemon scents I've tried, this is for the warmer months for sure.
If you love lemons, this is for you.

TimSmells

Smells like the rag after using lemon Pledge. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as I like how Pledge smells but I got one hour of minor sillage and another hour as a skin scent. Fragrantica’s note breakdown seems accurate. All things considered this is overpriced in my opinion.

emiguerra

Nice lemon smell, but after an hour the smell is gone. Not talking sillage or projection, but nothing discernable in a sniff after an hour. Outrageously priced for a citrus smell.

carlosrafael

Lots of refreshing lemon 🍋 if that’s what you are looking for. Great for hot weather. Strong. Long-lasting for being a citrus perfume.

Very good but not excellent.

It is over-hyped by young “me-too” reviewers on YouTube. There is a small layer that gives it a synthetic lemon smell akin to lemon pledge. I wish it was more natural and a tad sweeter. I like my lemon scents with a pinch, just a pinch, of Candy lemon sweetness.

Try Goutal’s Eau d’ Hadrien, Mancera Lemon Line, and Mancera Bois Cedrat Boise for a more natural, slightly sweeter, equally strong, and lasting lemon scent. No lemon pledge feeling in these ones.

x.rina.x

Soooo realistic lemon. I'm usually not into fresh citrus scents, but this one has more lasting power then any cologne like citrus scents. I really like to layering with it. It's not fbw for me, but nice to have a decant from it to freshen up my spring time florals, and floral-gourmands for summer.
(Xerjoff Dama bianca layered with this is aaww <3 still fragile and comely sweet but enough fresh for summer)

saccitygrl01

Realistic lemon on the opening. As it dries down it becomes lemon pledge on my skin. At drydown it is similar to AdP Mirto di Panarea. Nice but not FB worthy.

@drianS

Love this citrus fragrance… I’m wearing it right now 😍 just squeeze me and you can make a lemonade 😂 Good longevity, I’m impressed. High quality ingredients

Cool Autumn Breeze

Smells like a lemon party in here!

jazzyraspberry

Refreshing realistic lemon with a woody undertone.
It is nice, but not worth the price tag in my opinion.

laurenrebeccaroth

Such a gorgeous smell, it reminds me of walking through lemon trees in Italy. It's very expensive, but the bottle lasts a long time. This is the best citrus scent I own!

jellisunc

Holy bananas this smells better than real lemon!!! Ive heard about this one for a while, glad ti finally try it. The hype is real my friends, this one may take the cake for most realistic citrus.

Now, is it worth the hefty price tag? Up to you, but I will definitely be cherishing my decant.

IggeStockholm

If you hold real lemon in one hand and acqua viva in the other, acqua viva will smell more lemon than lemon. Please try it if you get chance!
10/10 if you like the citrus scent

Doc Radio L Ogiste

Sweet lemons, Batman! This is by far the best Profumum Roma fragrance I have tested to date, but also the only one from the house I actually like. It's a lovely simple scent for summer days, and I so wanted to like this for myself. Unfortunately, I find it leaning to far to the feminine side for my comfort. It would be great on my wife, though.

Arber Cami

A blast of photorealistic lemons in the opening. Dries down to a slightly woody lemon scent. Smells like a cologne to me. After a few hours smells like toilet cleaner.

Exenidi

Perfection of flowery fresh slightly minty citruses! I thought nothing could beat JcEllena and his Bigarade Concentree, but AV is a totally different take on the “agrumi” gestalt. It’s a careful balance between dry and juicy, fresh with a hint of white musk, never synthetic or bitter. Hands down top of the list, Olfactive vitamins for the winter worn out soul.

librabeing

This fragrance is a very realistic, very high-quality lemon scent. You can almost taste how fresh and yellow and sour it is. Unfortunately, there’s just nothing else to it. It’s way too one-dimensional for me. I’d sooner go for Acqua di Parma’s Mirto di Panarea, which I actually thought was one-dimensional at first, but now seems much more dynamic compared to this one.

gabri

Comparing it to this, has anyone tried Lemon Vanilla by Fragrenza ?

SNKIOP

Summer Scent 6,5/10 A fresh blast of citrus in the opening, really smells like authentic lemons. Not a lot of depth but mostly I just pick up lemon notes, a bit soapy for me. It sits really close to the skin. Great for warm summer days with a white t-shirt. Silage 2,5/10 Longevity 2/10

lorenzo_yann_morelli

Italian cedrata and lemon gelato

This has always been a favorite of mine: an extremely addictive lemon summer scent suitable for easy refreshment with a slight yet enough amount of story-telling and harmony. It smells like lemon peel, hints of orange peel here and there, with very little touches of cypress and cedarwood that provide the fragrance some more aromaticity and a final broom note to eat away anything sour. It surely dries down more sour than its opening but it's not a sour fragrance. You could compare it to Eau d'Hadrien by Goutal but that one is more ephemeral and woody oriented: take the lemon note and think about it as amplified and succulent.

Jimm

Безусловно наивысший в плеяде всех цитрусовых ароматов без исключения.
By far the highest in the galaxy of all citrus aromas, without exception.

singhdivjot

Very realistic zesty lemons, just wish it had more woody depth in terms of composition of the scent.
Longevity is awesome too as with every profumum roma scents.

Belli9

I love lemon but I've found that I don't want to wear it all day

thecorb

Upon smelling this I've said "lemon" to myself so many times over in my head that the word now seems strange and has lost all meaning. This is pure lemon, there's not much more to say. You may pick up a hint of some other notes, but they'll soon be drowned out by that overdose of lemon. Longevity is good for the type of scent it is, perfect for summer.
Would be a safe blind buy for anyone who likes (you guessed it) lemon.

7/10

alyllauren

This is the best experience I have had with a citrus scent. I love lemons and this is such a photorealistic version: juice and zest and all. I got slightly more of the woody notes the longer it wore on me, which was a while: I got 4-5 hours of really impressive sillage and a 10 hour wear-time overall. Would make a lovely summer scent.

Zaca

I first ordered a sample vial of Acqua Viva from Luckyscent. My eyes (figuratively) rolled towards the back of my head when I dabbed it on: lemon leaves, bark, petitgrain, zest. I ordered an 18ml travel vial on the strength of it. I sprayed and it was… pleasant. Nothing more, nothing less. A cypress-tinged lemon. What’s more, the (sealed) bottle had leaked approximately a third of its contents everywhere.

Poor bottle/sprayer design is a recurring problem with Profvmvm Roma. I have a full bottle of Ambra Aurea and the sprayer constantly gets blocked. I could understand if Profvmvm Roma were a niche/indie perfumer just starting out, but for an established niche perfumery at such a premium price point, this is unacceptable - and downright embarrassing.

Nickfarbeyond

Quite simply the greatest lemon scent of all
Time. Performance is nuclear! Smells like sherbet lemons

Loud nice sour zesty lemons being cut on a wooden picnic table.......on a fresh energetic sunny day, woodsy & plants ...lasts very long-11 hrs..othes longer, its oily too so warning becareful when you buy this after spraying bottle gets oily...wipe down..tips& dont not spray in a room you want to be in spray it on inthe bathroom....use a light hand ~DO NOt over spray~My opinion...positive kind~ energetic people wear this, who are full of adventure& outgoing..YAY...living in the desert this is nice fresh...i like to spray it on the clothing...more than my skin. Life is like a lemon...sqeeze all you can get out of it. UPDATE: I was really excited when i bought this but theres a note in here a little too sharp leans more masculine...its unisex just i really wish they made a feminine version or toned down the sharp note, lol realized after wearing several times minus that sharp note a very long lasting realistic lemon fresh sour masculine...ill be layering some others&update later for results hahaha......Update: no i cant wear it with the sharpness of the lemon im guessing,so no i can't wear&now i have a full size bottle in a dark cool closet:( if anyone is looking for a true lemon message me&trade me a bottle for a bottle please? I have the batch code, the original box, cap, funnel, and unused atmomizer it came with&i purchased this from luckyscent in 2021? UP FOR TRADE??? Thank you sorry this is so long scroll by^^ UPDATE i sold it yay!

sea3side

Easy, breezy scent. Pleasant on a summer's day. Would I buy it? No. Very glad I had a sample vial. Although I can smell the fragrance hours after applying (by really putting my nose right on the spot where I applied it), it simply does not change. On me, it smells exactly as it did upon application. No complexity, not particularly interesting. Pleasant yes. Worth buying? I will skip. Lasting power, zilch.

mare_crisium

Ultra realistic lemon in all its summery glory. Unfortunately, and like most of Profumum Roma's creations, the performance is lacking. It can last all day, but if you have to dig your nose into your arm just to glean the slightest trace of it that's pretty pointless.

I find this house's offerings are all beautiful, but with the exception of the nuclear Meringa they aren't perhaps worth the £225 asking price, free roll-on or not.

Aux

PR made a deal with the devil to concoct this 6+ hour lemon fragrance! Held together by with a cypress backbone this gem is one of very few summer frags that perform superbly without choking those nearby. The cypress is subtle and blended perfectly.

Scent: (5 / 5)
Lemon is among my favourite fragrance notes and this is my favourite lemon of all time. Crisp and sour.

Performance: (4 / 5)
Unparalleled performance for a lemon frag. The sharper citrus notes gradually fizzle away, lending a touch of non-linearity. Detectable within a foot for 4-5 hours, lingers on skin for ~9 hours.

Versatility: (3 / 5)
Made for spring/summer daytime. Not too loud and I can't see anyone really disliking this.

Overall: (5 / 5)
Exactly what I'm looking for. Photorealistic lemon with baffling performance.

rbalkris

One of Profumum’s most beloved scents and also one of the most perfect natural scents for summer, this is an ode to the sheer deliciousness of ripe juicy Amalfi lemons. This central note dominates this happy scent from start to finish. As the perfume evolves on the skin me notes slight woody facets of other notes like cedar, cypress and labdanum resin. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. If you are looking for a lemon forward scent your journey begins and ends here. Naturally simple and beautiful. Enjoy!

SatineChristian

Very interesting perfume, it’s full of natural lemon, so fresh, so nice lemon bomb🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

Ksj_

Holy lemon Batman!

Tamlin

Opens up as an extremely realistic freshly squeezed lemon.

Then quickly starts becoming a bit creamy and ever so slightly soapy, and the freshly squeezed lemon kinda turns into fresh lemon peel. Still realistic.

It then stays realistic and creamy into the drydown.

Maybe the best lemon scent?

Tuvok

Nothing more to add, a potent lemon with a woody twist in the drydown. I have a vintage bottle of Lancome Trophee and Acqua Viva is in the same vibe. It is stronger than Trophee of course but both fragrances remind me of lemon hard candy. It is way overpriced though. I will stick to Hermes Eau de Citron Noir that costs like 8 times less in my country. From Profumum Roma Acqua di Sale, Patchouly, Fumidus, Olibanum are the only fragrances I consider bottle worthy.

miTo

amazing scent... huge longevity, comforting freshness. after a coupe of hours I notice some kind of spice in the background, that gives a little warmth to the dry down, dont know which spice is but I like it. Nice, very nice!!

Kenkiun

This is a update of my last coment below.
And this still holiday in a bottle. The amalfi lemon is stinging and sharp, its a simple lemon holiday fragance that even a child can pull of, dont over spray. This is a long lasting fragance, this is crazy, it last almost 20 hours,, maybe is the quality? Or the cypress?
You will hardly find a lemon fragance that last 20 hours.
It is directly lemon, the cypress gives it an old school vibe so it is not for everyone. definitely give it a try before you buy it

ingeneuxo

-This is a straight-up lemon dishwashing liquid scent.
-Lemon rind scent, that's just a touch more refined than the scent I associate with cleaning products.
-Bears some similarity to Mancera- Lemon Line.
-Not fbw. (-)

TeachOlfactoryArt

I recommend mixing or layering this with others. For example, I layered with Atelier’s a orange sanguine and it was so bright! Acqua Viva made the orange last longer.

Or if you have a resinous-spicy-oriental but want to lift it up, that works too. I tried two sprays of Acqua Viva to two of Opium and it made the balsam spice light up like an almost gourmand confection!

cua_alvin_ross

There's a lot of lemon cleaner vibes here tbh but there's also a boozy feel to it also which makes this a not so straightforward lemon frag but has a slight twist to it. Very pleasant. And because i live in a tropical country, i have to get a full bottle of this. Strong sillage.

Aloex

A fine citric-woody mist rains down and with closed eyes I think of the island world off Sicily.

Fragrance 8/10, Longevity 9/10, Sillage/Projection 9/10

Worn on me from a decant. I like this. Nice lemon opening as expected with a very herbaceous note in there. As it settles into the base notes, it really turns into a fresh cypress scent with a hint of cedar. It is quite manly in the base notes, but there is a trendy edge to this, that turns me off a little bit. It feels more current and less "classic" than I prefer. Overall, good, but not great.

CTH

I tested this and it is just amazing the most realistic lemon scent I have ever smelt (It does not smell like lemon cleaner that Allure Blanche) the dry down with the cedar is just beautiful and it lasts and lasts.

It very har dot find a bottle in London and its bloody expensive since its made of high quality raw materials but you can get travels testers up to 30ml, more than enough for your holidays where it is hot!

theelusivechanteuse

I’ve learned this type of fragrance—maybe citruses in general—aren’t really my style, but this is an excellent scent. Like others have said, a photorealistic lemon, at times verging on candied. Linear. Performance is really in a class of its own when it comes to citruses. I still get a blast of lemon several hours after application.

Bob_Sacamano

This is a magnificent scent, but I also recognize the reviews that liken the aroma to that of furniture cleaner.

The lemon is very honest and life-like, but the complement of the cypress adds a sharp, spicy, resinous note. That note is also about as realistic as it gets, but when mixed with the piercing lemon it can be reminiscent of a cleaning product fragrance, especially in the open. Sadly it's difficult to ignore since lemon scented cleaning products are about as ubiquitous as mosquitoes in a swamp.

The mid and dry down do level out, with the cedar and floral notes adding some creaminess and depth to the profile. The piercing open is all but forgotten after the first hour, and the scent fades into an extremely pleasant dry down.

Getting past the open, which is quite enjoyable and refreshing if you can break the cleaning product association, I adore this scent in the warm weather. It performs admirably when compared to other fresh fragrances. Don't expect the world, but an hour of projection, another couple of adequate trailing, and then a lingering aroma for 5-6 hours isn't outside the realm of possibilities. I will mention that I have found that sweating negatively impacts the performance, as if the scent gets washed away. And go easy with the trigger finger. Two or three sprays will be adequate. Extra spritzes will simply ramp up that sharpness without really impacting overall performance. You'd be wasting (expensive) juice at that point. A single spray reapplication 5 hours in is a nice recharge though.

While the cost will keep me from ever owning a full bottle, I can see decants being added into the spring and summer rotation going forward.

Many reviewers comment specifically on the somewhat hefty price tag. Yes, it will cost you a pretty penny, but in my opinion this is one of the most distinguished and honest citrus scents on the market today. Straightforward and powerful, leaning towards the masculine side of the spectrum with the very present cypress. Compared to most other citrus contenders this presents the best value, since even a small amount will last a day. I’ve had several other scents that I had to literally shower myself in, to get 45 minutes worth of citrus. I’m gonna stick with Acqua Viva now.

elixir123

When I received my sample of Acqua Viva I wasn’t sure if I should wear it or spray it onto my wooden furniture. Smells like a niche perfumery house trying to clone Pledge. You know, the wood polish. It also brings back recollections of the many times throughout my life I’d attempt to use a public restroom but there’s a sign up that states there’s a cleaning in progress. Ah yes, takes me right back to those disappointing times. Those times when you drank one bottle of water too many and need to release the excess, but instead you’re met with the unfortunate olfactory experience you can smell from down the hall. The sweet smell of disinfectants and floor cleaner.

Smell is subjective so I had to ask for some feedback from others and they said the same. They couldn’t get over it’s off-putting stench. I don’t want to be looked at as that guy who is obsessed with cleaning his wooden furniture. The guy who uses so much Pledge that he ends up walking around smelling like it. Not sure where all the praise is coming from with this one. Hard pass.

Yourhumblenarrator

When life gives you the lemons, make lemonade, or...you know, an absurdly realistic, lemon-worshiping EDP.

To say that Acqua Viva smells like lemons would be a gigantic over simplification. The rind, the zest, the skin, as cheesy as this sounds, Profumum Roma have captured the soul of the lemon. It is intensely photo realistic, and quite literal in its sense of refreshment. A bit of a one trick pony, but it's a pretty good trick at least.

There's a gentle, sugared creaminess that adds some very welcomed density. Up close it's often like a bright Lemon Drops candy, but in the air it is iced lemonade at a summer carnival, your straw sloshing around that soft, snowy ice as gentle puffs of watery lemon drift into your nostrils. It is superb and masterful in its blending of bitter sweetness. A dreamy scent if there ever was one.

Acqua Viva gets praise for creating a citrus scent that lasts and lasts, and it's well deserved. The fragrance goes on oily, which I assume contributes to its first-class longevity. It is powerful and bold without being loud and obnoxious. But the be-all-end-all of lemon perfumes doesn't come cheaply, as pricing is very much in the realm of high end, Italian niche. There is one little hack however that I haven't heard mentioned:

Profumum Roma made this available in an 18 ml travel bottle. For me, this is a great option because of how little you need to apply of such an oily, potent scent, and because of how "seasonal" it is. If you can resist the deliciousness and keep it at two sprays at a time,18 ml will definitely go a long way, and that should be very realistic given the oily potency of Acqua Viva. It is an epic work of art in terms of citrus scents. I'd love to see their take on other notoriously fleeting notes such as mint.

Pertinax

Profumum Roma is a house that by sheer quality and pleasantness of the scents is becoming one of my favorite houses against my will. I have more than enough other stuff to spend money on than more perfume by now, so I try to fight it off, but after a great offer of a travel-size bottle of this I can't deny it is one of the best light summer-scents I ever smelled, and it is quickly becoming a signature by the sheer fact that it makes me want to wear this and only this!

Incredibly rich and deep lemon that envelops you - I don't know how to check, but I'll buy that it is probably the cypress, cedar and laburnum I am smelling that gives off this slight woody-green base that makes you want to bury your nose in this. It definitely doesn't just smell of lemon even though it is the easiest to pick up on. It's subtle sweetness and tartness is gorgeous, and doesn't tire you out like heavy sweet vanilla-scents and the like tend to do. This little beast makes me instantly want to buy a full bottle ahead of all the others I was planning on buying. It is that good! It's ligthness is such that I find it needs a few more sprays than usual even though it has a lot of oil - I feel this isn't necessarily one to be afraid to overspray, it feels rather fitting to envelop yourself in as it is so light and refreshing.

archiephillips

While this is a straightforward lemon scent, it's also the best lemon scent out there by some way.
The opening is photo-realistic lemon. Like Bergamote 22, it has a perfect combination of the lemon flesh - juicy and sweet, with the lemon rind - zesty and slightly bitter. Some lemon fragrances come off too sweet and become more like lemon drops or lemon sweets. But Acqua Viva balances sweet and tart perfectly, with enough sourness and hints of bitterness to resemble a freshly sliced lemon. Another common complaint with lemon fragrances is that they smell like cleaning products, as household cleaners often are scented with lemon. But not here - there's nothing synthetic about this one.
Another box ticked by Acqua Viva is the performance. Citrus fragrances are not famed for their longevity or projection, but this breaks that mould. It's very oily (like all Profumum Roma), so hangs around for a long time. Projection is decent, but also keeps radiating for much longer than your average summer fragrance.

Here's the thing - if you are willing to pay whatever it takes for the best lemon fragrance on the market, look no further than this. But for the rest of us, is it really worth it? Probably not. It's very linear - I don't get the woods in the dry down. You would have to seriously love the note of lemon, demand above average performance, be someone who settles only for the best (and be willing to shell out for the privilege) and not already own many citruses for this to warrant a purchase in my opinion.
That isn't me. While I am willing to pay more to get the highest quality, basic (although very high quality) lemon just doesn't excite me enough.

I like it, but not bottle-worthy.

(dislike/indifferent/like, but not BW/like a lot, potentially BW/love, definitely BW/masterpiece)

Borzoi

Perfect perfume if you want to smell like a lemon drop. It's such an amazing mouth-watering lemon, but I like my lemon scents with a spicy, aromatic, or woody base and you won't find that in this (except faaaar behind the giant lemon), so I won't be wearing it.
I can definitely see how people could love it though.

lgbailey86

Best pure lemon at any price. It isn't even close. One of the most natural and pure fragrance houses. Founded and operating right next to the zesty, tart, round, juicey, rich, refreshing lemons that this so beautifully exemplifies.

Skywarp

For the first 30-60 minutes you do, like most lemon and Woody combinations, get a sharp cleaner vibe. But once it settles the tartness of the lemon dissappears and what you're left with is a woodsy scent with bitter lemon and a slight soapy feeling. Quite pleasant, but since it does have a slight cleaner smell, it comes off quite synthetic, but a pleasant one.

I would recommend Xerjoff Casamorati Fiero if you want a truly realistic lemon scent that lasts 8+ hours.

Vitriol08

Hyper ultra Lemony citrussy lemon scent! :-)

dcjimr

The most stunning lemon scent I have ever smelled. It most certainly does not smell like a household cleaner or wood polish...believe me, I've smelled enough of those and this is nothing like them. The dry down brings out some wood and greenery but the lemon remains fairly strong. I like this slightly more than Renaissance because it does not dry down as sweet as that fragrance on my skin.

marcel2782

Limone Vivo di Amalfi should be the name. This is one of the 3 Gods of natural lemon fragrances alongside Renaissance and Bergamote 22. The purest amalfi lemon ever, a bit acrid-sweet, notably astringent - due to the absurdly good Amalfi Lemon used, giving it a strong personality. It's pointless to mention other notes besides Amalfi Lemon here because they are all here just to support it, in low volume - he is the lead star. At dry-down, the citric volume falls and a green aspect of lemon leaf emerges - a more aromatic and pleasant phase. Take advantage of this while it's available, as the internet reports increasingly difficult production of its main ingredient (Amalfi lemon) due to transformation of the cultivation land into construction/tourism properties.

tayyabforyouth

This is by far, hands down, the greatest lemon fragrance in the market today. They really did some wizardry with this one because it doesn't smell like lemon candy or lemon myringue pie. It literally smells like the scent of a tart, sour lemon when you cut it open. There is a bit of greenness to it as well, from the cypress note. That's basically all it is - lemon and green notes. But the magic in this is how powerful it is. It has strong projection and lasts me literally 8 hours, which is unheard of for a lemon fragrance. This is so good I ended up selling Mancera Lemon Line (my previous favourite heavyweight lemon fragrance). Acqua Viva is a work of art and masterpiece that I will always have in my collection.

WhaleFingers

Super lovely citrus aroma that works well with my skin. Lemon pops, and carries on for a bit. Scent isn't artificial, so enjoy the fresh power of lemon, and the woodsy undertone. Only negative thing about this fragrance is the price. If it weren't for that barrier, I'd pick up a bottle quick!

Craigzb

Bright and fresh lemon scent with a bit of woodiness. Not a complex scent.

its.me.aubree

The number one best seller from this house and for good reason. This is the truest lemon scent I've ever had the pleasure to come across. It's bright and happy. Yes, the true lemon may be off putting to some, and I can see where the pledge comments come from but this only lasts a few moments while the fragrance is drying. I feel this is universally flattering and I'd love to smell it on myself or a partner.

Sillage: massive
Longevity: massive

10/10 for citrus fans

xvxmatthewxvx

lots of lemon zest, woody, leafy

on my skin it was medium projection for 30 mins and then became a skin scent lasting 2-3 hours

yes it smells like lemon pledge

this is a try before you buy, i like lemon pledge too for 5 minutes but it turns out i didn't want to smell like that for 3 hours

waskotransportation

This is the BEST blind buy humanly possible for a citrus lover!

FINALLY...a citrus that lasts and lasts and lasts! It is stunningly beautiful and works best for me on hot summer days.

Otjello

Wow, that's lemon again and again. Huge sillage and longevity. Really a wonderful fresh summer scent. Beautifuly somewhat warm cypress and cedar drydown. Banger! 92

nottheaverageidiot

Whoa. PHOTOREALISTIC lemon zest.

Though the reviews below showcase different opinions, I find myself agreeing with most of them:
Is Acqua Viva reminiscent of a lemon scented house cleaner? Yes.
Lemon Drops? Indeed!
Newly grated lemon zest? Of course!
I suspect the wearer's opinion of any of the above would determine whether they also like Acqua Viva or not.

It is linear (the cedar and imortelle… I wouldn't have noticed them had I not known to expect them), long-lasting for a citrus fragrance, bright and uncomplicated. And zesty, zesty, zesty.

richmilton

Nice fruity scent that leans fem. But wearable for both sexes. Nothing groundbreaking but decent fragrance if you like a fruity woody accord. The only issue this is WAY over priced (IMHO) for the average composition you get.

Metolord

A great mix of natural woods and citruses ... extremely natural extremely long lasting by moderate projection!... nothing groundbreaking... I didn’t blown away but I enjoying wearing it!!!!
It’s not that linear but it’s simple! After 2-3 hours starts to Settle down and starts be more delicious and beautiful....
If you’re expecting a sweet fragrance like usual DNA of this house, NOT gonna happen! Bitter, zesty, woody and mature serious fragrance will be on your skin!!!!!!!

benlane19

Pleasent, vibrant, extremely close to big juicy zesty lemons when sniffed close up to the skin. But when catching whiffs of this on myself, I can't help but think lemon pledge, and nothing else but lemon pledge.

feelhot

Acqua Viva it's truly water of life! This zesty river is enriched with cedar wood delicate base, makes you feel you are under the waterfall of fresh citrus together with bright gold flowers of laburnum.

This fragrance is close to your skin, longevity about 2 hours only. The bottle is state of art, I want it, but the price for full bottle should be like for selected perfumes not like for niche onces, due to not very long lasting.

It shines stronger and longer during cold times, when it is cold outside, when you can feel just the Almafi zest (about 4 hours). Should they made promotion sale BOGOF I would buy multiple bottles to use it as an EDT, an EDC and an aftershave. This fragrance pulling my nose, I know I would have to have it!

Try it, smell it and let your mind to be happy! This zesty life-water fall will makes you happy and enjoy your life in full, every second you have it on your skin <3

Bubbles1964

There are a lot of citrus based scents and most of them have longevity issues, usually not making it to the first hour mark. Thankfully that’s not Acqua Viva, which has great performance. But that’s not my favorite part.

Cypress, and to a lesser extent cedar, make their presence known when the lemon starts to fade, becoming the backdrop to the wood drydown. I get the lemon pledge connection. But I also think it’s really interesting because I love the cypress note so I’m not turned off.

What is difficult is of course, the price. I looked around for a decant and unless I order from Italy I won’t be able to test this in a larger size. So it’s on my radar but I would need to take this on a longer and more thorough test drive to justify a purchase.

GRAF

All I get is lemon, generic lemon with moderate performance. At the late dry down I get a soft aquatic vibe. Decent scent for 50-60 usd maximum.

mark49s

This doesn't smell like lemon, it smells *of* lemon. It's as if a lemon has been zested directly into the bottle, and as a result it is really refreshing, perfect for hot, dry summer days.

Whilst it does last longer than the majority of citrus based fragrances, unfortunately on my skin it's lasts 3-4 hours.

All in all, a very nice, fresh, if simple, fragrance. 7/10.

feleeni

Holy citrus!
I've been finding a fragrance to cheat on my Acqua di Parma Colonia with, and wanted to see how AV would do. I am quite conflicted. Such a strong hit of the freshest, purest citrus. Immediately. It really projects, and is quite bold. But something is off. I don't know how wearable it is for me...something is missing. It reminds me of old, homemade soaps at my grandfather's house, used for laundry washing by hand.
For a moment I thought maybe- but then after an hour or so, the drydown disappointed me, and the initial hit wasn't really true love, so given the price tag, I will have to take a pass.

kennkiunn

It is the best lemon fragrance I have used. It is bright fresh, a bit acidic and a little sweet to its point. but we can not really give you more than 4.20 points for being a citrus fragrance and its price

wxmath

Lemon heaven! Love this fragrance.

spring_pansy

This is beautiful. I love lemon. I love the strength of this fragrance and the sourness and freshness of the top notes and the lightly sweet cedar drydown. I have only the 17 ml travel size, but eventually this will be a full bottle purchase.

To me this is a masterpiece. To be able to get such huge sillage an longevity out of such an airy and fresh citrus scents is beyond me. One of a kind!

All the notes shine on their own way, but to me this fragrance is a sum of more than it’s parts. Maybe not a fragrance for everyone, but very likeable and a must try for everyone looking for a great citrus fragrance.

I bought this in the winter and I’m really looking forward to using this in the heat this summer.

There is no review of DUA fragrances Acqua Solaris (Acqua Viva clone) on this site, so I hope no one minds if I place this bit of advice about Acqua Solaris here.

A brilliant, zesty Summertime citrus Lemon.....that last for 60 minutes. With no exaggeration, only the faintest traces of this juice can be detected after 1 hour, even on clothes. Sadly, I wanted to love it. I really did. I loved the idea of the same niche quality being offered by a small start up fragrance house. In hindsight, Designer houses with millions in capital behind them have been unable to do this but a small, independent start up is going to do it? Yeah right. After doing more research after my initial disappointment, I read an article that says These companies purchase 1 bottle of the original and find a way stretch over 100 bottles. That would explain their "inspirations" sometimes being released just days after the original has been on the market and their insistence on 30 and 60 ml bottles. I've ordered several DUA fragrances and this was the first to arrive. This has served to wake me up to the reality of a clone of a $250 niche fragrance being offered for $60?? (Really $30 because DUA uses the same oils as Alexandria but charges twice the price).

I have yet to receive the other fragrances but at this point my ultimate conclusion is You get what you pay for. No way Around it. Profumum Roma, shut up and take my money.

Tara Yeiter

The opening is old fashioned lemon drop, complete with the light dusting of powder and the crinkle of a cellophane bag.
After about an hour and a few prickles of cypress, I was left with just a breath of something vague and clean. Pleasant. Not soapy.
I was just starting to dig this new cozy whiff when it was suddenly gone.
Charming, quaint, fleeting.

Update: I've been wearing my sample three days in a row. In spite of the brevity and low sillage I am still enchanted. Can't stop applying, can't stop sniffing.

Update: 3 months later and this has evolved into my signature. Something about it keeps me sniffing and smiling all day. People linger and smile wen they smell it too.

"Master Lemon"

Acqua Viva has incredible interpretation of what a lemon fragrance can be.

It has equal proportions of zesty skin, seeds, ripe lemon, fresh lemon, stalk and root of the plant developing at different stages of evolution on the skin

It combines these elements into a complete, photo-realistic yet deeply charismatic fragrance.

Fragrances from Profumum Roma are known to be discrete and linear in creation, but with beastly performance.

Acqua Vivia maintains the beastly performance, but it is nonlinear in comparison to other fragrances from the house.
It starts with fresh lemon, but it dries down to a combination of woody and ripe lemony scent.

I don't really like fresh or aquatic fragrances as they bore me out quickly. That's not the case with Acqua Viva. First, it is not aquatic. Second, it has to be one of the most awesome citrus fragrances under the sun.

10/10.

dmetzger

OH WHAT THE ACTUAL £#€& Profumum!?

No!

This kills me a little inside. I have been wanting a fresh, pure, photorealistic lemon perfume for a long time and this hype train rolls through town and I hop on board.

It's delicious! Perfect lemon! No "cleaning product" scent, no fake candy lemon, just a real, ripe lemmon that has been torn into with your thumbs, through the rind, in a fit of tasty kung-fu pique. Like practicing to gouge your enemies eyes out. And then dusting them with white sugar.

It does have a slightly "lemonade" quality to it but the sweetness is acceptable. Complimentary even.

THE PROBLEM is the performance. %¥ you Profumum Roma! For the house that is hyped to have all beast mode in their lineup, I have had a near 50/50 hit and miss ratio on performance. This is one of the best scents in this category, but the performance sucks.

Sick of your £#*+ Profumum!

Scent: 9/10 this is a damn near masterpiece for a freshie-which I normally don't care for.
Projection: 7/10 for 15 minutes

wxmath

If you love lemon you'll absolutely adore this one. Lemon with cedar on drydown...great sillage and longevity. This is one of my favorites as I love the lemon the longevity is somewhat weak when compared to others from this fragrance house. I'd give this one an A-.

esteban747

Oh, liquid citrus heaven on earth. Even before first application the uplifting and bright lemon note was filling my room with all intensity.
The combination of cypress and lemon creates a note similar to neroli, green and a tad spicy.
The name of this perfume is spot on. It's an allegory to life and happiness. A potion to dispel even the darkest moods.
Of course, I can't resist citrus scents, especially lemon. But I know some people immediately associate lemon with cleaning products.
So if you are looking for a good citrus ( lemon) perfume, Acqua Viva should be at the top of the list.
Unapologetically simple and gorgeous.

fuggerone

Low duration and short sillage, a plastic feeling overall! Disappointing!

marenanne6

I am in love with this perfume. It's incredibly natural, as if you had just dug into a lemon and torn off the first piece of rind, and that fine mist of juice sprays into the air. It makes me think of the outdoors, groves of citrus fruit and tangy afternoon air.
It may just be a signature. :)

landshark321

As the hype has indicated, I agree that Profumum Roma Acqua Viva is among the best fresh lemon scents that I've ever smelled, or could smell, apart from perhaps a sweet lemon scent along the lines of Dua Fragrances Vanilla Lemon Gelato or Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche. But as far as a strong lemon presence and not too much mixed in, Acqua Viva takes the cake as the best fresh lemon fragrance I can name.

It involves, overwhelmingly, fresh lemon, both the juice and the peel/rind, blended with the yellow flower laburnum, and woody notes of cedar and one of my favorite woods, cypress. It doesn't develop much, which is actually nice because the opening is so pleasant and bright.

Performance is solid, more up to the par set by much of the rest of the line, with great projection and longevity.

The only pitfall is that paying the standard $250 for 100ml Profumuma Roma price for a citrus-dominant fragrance seems unpalatable, but considering that this is balanced enough to be a versatile performer in not only the warm weather, but due to its strength, the cold weather, the price could be right. I'll have to consider splurging for this one---next year, perhaps.

When the conditions are just right in Texas, we can grow the most incredible citrus. The Ruby Red Grapefruit, a staple in the Texan diet, is marvellous--you haven't had grapefruit until you've eaten one. Our limes can grow to the size of a fist, and a tart and almost soapy-clean, the opposite of a Key Lime.
But one of the secret wonders of Texas agriculture is the Meyer Lemon. If the weather conditions are right, farmers and gardeners all over the land will produce some of the most sweet, rich lemons you could ever imagine. Their peels are almost orange. When you cut one open, it smells like fresh-squeezed lemonade, or a bag full of old-fashioned lemon drops, or the kind of natural lemon oil you use to finish a piece of wood.
My wife makes a limoncello using this entrancing citrus. Boozy and sweet without being cloying, it is such a powerful and elemental flavour that I subconsciously compare all lemon scents to the drink.
So some might smell Acqua Viva and smell lemon cleaner, or lemon drops, or even a nice fresh lemon, with undertones of cypress. But to me, it is almost precisely the smell of my wife's Meyer Lemon Limoncello. It's a gourmand to me, with a sugary crust over a fresh lemon heart (a deeper smell than most lemon fragrances I have encountered), yielding to an aromatic woodiness that really echoes cypress furniture to me.
In other words, it's a very evocative scent on my skin. One can easily tell the quality of the ingredients (this is Profumum, after all), but all the same, I doubt I will be picking up a bottle of this. It's a touch too sweet for a summer scent on my skin, and surprisingly, doesn't last at all in the heat. This might actually be an interesting late summer/early fall juice, and I will try it again then.
Altogether, I find the scent entrancing, but very personal, and although extraordinarily well put-together (if a bit linear), not something I'm terribly excited to share with others.
If your skin can handle sweetness, and you want a lemon fragrance, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better juice. As for me, I will sit with it a while longer to decide if it is worth the considerable, but reasonable, price tag.

Scent - tart lemon.

Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this in the warmer months, during the day.

Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment.

Longevity - I get 6hrs consistently.

chimera87

Layering Acqua Viva and Victrix.
Both compliment each other amazingly well and create a powerful charming aura of amalfi lemons in the midst of earthy Italian herb garden.
Brilliant and super longevity sillage

A raw elemental expression of lemon in it's natural state. More lemon skin and pith than juice, it's refinement and sophistication au natural. A serious gentleman's cologne.

My personal Holy Grail lemon:

Acqua Viva smells like bright, sparkling Lemon Drops candy. It's a big lemon scent with excellent performance and due to the sweetness of the lemon accord it avoids smelling anything like furniture polish or a kitchen cleaner. This is the best lemon-centric fragrance I've smelled to date. It's sunny and bold and lasts a good while with nice projection. AV concludes in a light woody base though it never comes close to losing its citrus heart. My lemon quest more or less ends here, as Acqua Viva is a more modern and uplifting replacement for the previous lemon King, Monsieur Balmain. This blows Monsieur Balmain out of the water, and somehow makes it smell stuffy and drab. Though I was pretty bored with the citrus genre in general, Acqua Viva delivers a quality and depth that is exciting to behold. As far as citrus is concerned, 10/10.

Side note: Citrus notes are such a common component of fragrances. My review here is not comparing Acqua Viva to all fragrances with significant citrus accords, as many of these fragrances have other equally important facets or developments; it's in comparison to lemon-specific fragrances, such as Monsieur Balmain and Eau Hadrien. This is where Acqua Viva achieves its crown. While it may not be the perfect fragrance overall, it is certainly the perfect lemon fragrance.

Bright smell of elegant lemon zests. Cedar emerges at a later stage but the bright lemon note stays until the end! Longevity is amazing (as always with Profumum) and has a good projection as well.

I would never pay that much for a citrus fragrance though, I did only pay that amount for Acqua Di Sale which is more of a statement.

This is the only fragrance that switched the classic and classy Eau Sauvage second to my lemon scents list!

Beautiful and up lifting.

VictorLeon

beautiful! natural smelling lemons, not aquatic, more warm, sunny kind of feeling...for a citrus fragrance it lasts a long time...yesterday when I woke up it was still there, and that happens not too often with my skin chemistry.First half hour is loud, then settles down, gets a little woody, but with lemons still very persistant..I'm in love with it right now...the only downfall is price...I'm big citrus lover and this one's the best 1 I found so far!

Manny44

I bought a 15 ml decant of this a year ago and have worn this 7- 8 times, and no disrespect to people who like this but, this is lemon cleaner.Maybe 95% concentrated lemon with a bit of immortelle (which this fragrance needs much more of imo). It just is. Thats what I smell, thats what the people around me smell, I don't find wearing this to be a "special" experience, or find this nuanced or luxurious or interesting in any way (At least in the first couple hours, the far dry-down gets better when the lemon finally chills out a bit but who wears a fragrance just to wait for the 3 hour mark to come). Just my opinion.

waruna gomis

There are 4 types of lemons or lemon-like fragrances in this concoction. There is something very oily and slick about the the way the fragrances exude.

A very linear perfume till its end.

When unpacked and kept next to Annick Goutal's Hadrien Absolu, both are identical in every way (95%) but the Roma stays on your skin a tad longer. A great summer fragrance but not worthy for USD 220 + 80 for shipping. A summer perfume which does not stay on my skin for more than 2 hours.
In tropical Sri Lanka its such a a waste of good $$$.

If you miss the old version of Eau d'Hadrien, this is pretty darn close to that -- at more than twice the price, of course. It possesses the same clear, bright lemon note so realistic you'd think someone was cutting one at close proximity. It also has a touch of sweet white floral up top and some conifer-foresty notes that add a touch of the great outdoors to something that might otherwise smell like a kitchen. As with Hadrien, you either like smelling like this or you don't. There's nothing to "get."

The quality of Profumum can't be overstated -- this house makes very good, very simple perfumes and it is immediately apparent when you smell them. The price point suggests special occasion fragrance, but it would be all too easy to go through a whole bottle of this in a summer.

Sniffing the paper test for "Acqua Viva" will have you running through every association your brain has for lemon, before inevitably admitting that you've smelled toilet fresheners similar to this, and move on.

One of the best citrus perfumes i've ever tried. Exellent quality, long lasting and gets better after a few hours. A bit too strong citrus note ,but generally great. Bravo to the Italian people.

Houdini4

You will struggle to find a finer citrus than Acqua Viva. Many of the reviews here are absolutely spot on, especially @Estebanz.

A real journey of an opening with citrus from sharp lemon/grapefruit settling to zesty peel which smells super real, natural and accurate. A citrus smell which is complex within itself and even changes slightly over the first few minutes.
At this point I'll just say I'm not typically one to get excited about citrus but this is really worth the gushing praise.
Now then, I was expecting the waxy nature of white florals like neroli to develop at this point because that is my experience of 'high end' niche citrus fragrances bases and heart notes. I think they use them a) because they do compliment fruits and citrus and b) because they turbo charge the longevity.
To my utter surprise nothing developed except a gorgeous woody accord and even the tiniest hint of smoke.
It's very subtle fresh incense type vibe like olibanum, maybe coming from the cypress or cedar? but it's of the highest quality and a welcome addition to a fresh summer fragrance.
This is a masterful citrus aromatic a truly awesome piece of work with good longevity.

bejahu

A lemon-lover's delight. Acqua Viva opens with a incredibly authentic blast of fresh, tart and juicy lemon. Nothing synthetic-smelling about this one, it is fresh and delicious. The longevity is impressive, especially for a citrus-based fragrance. I'm getting 8-10 hours on my skin with this one, although in the final two hours it is more about the cedar than the fresh and bright lemon scent that dominates the rest of the dry down.

I love this stuff. I've been looking for a long-lasting citrus scent for a while now, and am delighted to have found Acqua Viva. If you enjoy the smell of real, fresh cut lemons, then this fragrance is definitely for you. The outstanding longevity is a bonus.

I most strongly recommend this one. Outstanding summer fragrance.

Pinnacos

Before you splurge on a bottle of Acqua Viva . . .

I've never smelled a more beautiful, intense, delicious lemon than in Annick Goutal's Hadrien Absolu. It's an over-the-top lemony EDP that'll knock your socks off. And I'm not much of a citrus guy. You really need to try it before spending twice the money on a bottle of Acqua Viva. Note: As of today (10/29/13) Hadrien Absolu is not yet listed in the Fragrantica database. I hope this addition is forthcoming.

Acqua viva is a nice lemon fragrance.
At first is more green, like a lemon blossom. It becomes slightly tart after a couple of minutes. Then I detect something just a little bit sweet, just barely sweet, transforming the lemon scent into a light version of a lemon meringue pie.
The cypress and cedar stay in the background (far back) from the lemon.

For the price...I'm not sure. But it all depends, if I really like a fragrance I will probably buy it anyway.
I used to have Monsieur Balmain, though they are not exact copies, the have a similar vibe. Balmain is more sharp and masculine, still, the lemon is there (and at a more affordable price too).

I have a small vial sample of this, which I'm finding doesn't always represent the fragrance properly. Some vials just are missing something. Maybe the bottle should be shaken before the sample is taken out. I'm not sure.
Anyway, I wanted to find something I loved in this fragrance and to be excited about a manly, modern citrus cologne with a woody base. Instead I smell a very lemony fragrance that lasts about 3 hours. There's a touch of wood and some other things (hardly) underneath. If you love lemon, this is the one for you. If you don't want to spend $240 to smell like you just dusted your house and cleaned the kitchen with lemon-scented cleansers, just get a sample and try it out.

It actually reminds me of an upscale Aqua Velva- much more potent, higher quality. Like another reviewer said, I agree: I like it, but I don't find it original enough to warrant the $.

The best quality of italian lemons in a scent...!

I'm a bit careworn when it comes to this fragrance. On the first topnote, it is, as everyone has said, a lemon-citrus fragrance. And it is indeed that. The lemon topnote stands out to everything else (so far as I can tell). While this does not seem to be a problem for most people it was a bit of a hangup for me. Some have mentioned household cleaner or something - how the topnotes don't smell like that, etc. And in one sense I agree, but in another I disagree. I agree that AV doesn't smell like, for example, Lemon Pledge, other than that they have a lemon scent in common. But in a way, I still feel like I've just cleaned the house with Lemon Pledge when I am wearing AV (when it comes to the topnotes, anyway). So, it's not that it smells like a household cleaner, it's just that I get the sense that I've been cleaning the kitchen or dusting or something.
Once the topnotes dry down, the smell is still great. The strong lemon smell dies down and the cedarwood takes a stronger note. This is the best part of AV IMO. The sillage seems to be average and the longevity is decent (several hours).
The big downside to this fragrance is the price. It's around 240$ or so for 100ml. And I just find that to be much too expensive for a citrus fragrance that you can get at a cheaper price (Acqua Classica, while the scent isn't as great as AV, is a 30$, 100Ml citrus fragrance). So, overall I would rather have something much cheaper and not quite as great. But that's just me.

An incredibly realistc, natural and sparkling lemon note with woody undertones (cedarwood). Simple yet really well executed and refined, long lasting, kinda energizing. Not my cup of tea but surely among the best lemon based fragrances around.
