This woodsy-flavored men's perfume was introduced in 1999. It was designed by Maurice Roucel. The base is soft, creamy and warm together with vanilla, sandal, amber and the gourmand tone of coffee. The designers of the bottle are Franzrudolf Lehnert and Michael Fõrster. The perfume is available in the amount of 50 and 100 ml edt.

As good as gourmands get. As good Le Male Le Parfum, imo, but for less than 20% the price. As others have pointed out, this is used Lebron James. It is also seen in Karim Benzema’s collection in his closet video.

But more importantly, this is an easy-to-like, smooth, high-quality blend by Maurice Roucel.

Since it can be difficult to sample, I suggest sampling Coffee Break by Masion Martin Margiela. The Rochas is so similar to it, but a touch woodier/more masculine, which makes it smell even better imo.

Vorotox

Let me begin by saying that this costs 35 euros for 150ml (100+50) where I live. That is an absolute STEAL. This is such a nice comforting scent.

The smooth vanilla and cappuccino notes make it very attractive and sexy. This was the first fragrance I tried with a coffee note, and I instantly fell in love with it. It's a very warm and masculine scent, I personally don't fully agree with the people claiming it's unisex, but to each their own!

It definitely does NOT smell like 35 euros. If I smelled this on someone without knowing what it is, I'd assume they're wearing a more expensive fragrance.

But what's holding this back from a 5-star review? That would be the projection and longevity. It's a shame that it doesn't last very long on my skin in colder weather, only around 2 hours (wouldn't recommend it for warm days, you may choke someone or even yourself). I also don't love the bottle design, some say it looks like a bullet but that's not really what comes to mind... I probably wouldn't have it on my shelf, but stored somewhere more hidden... someone might get the wrong idea, who knows.
I have yet to try the Intense version of this, hopefully it's better performing!

@zane
You obviously live in your moms basement, smoke way too much weed & are a gamer with a fried brain. You have never felt a woman before & they sure as hell won't let you touch them! I think you've played GTA too many times and fried your brain so much that you cannot grasp the difference between reality vs fantasy. Your IQ is 20 - 30!

Very sweet and sexy in a very nice and naughty way. If you want to smell like a fuckboy in a night club, wear this.

Mystères du Château de Dé

Sweet gourmand fragrance for teen and college boys of 2000. Not today's trend of "babygirl men" and the aroma chemicals in today's scents, which even when syrupy sweet tend to have some crystalline support and uplift. Everything is so zhuzhed up nowadays.

Rochas Man is a true gourmand - vanilla cream most predominant - vaguely mocha caramel. It's rather odd to smell today. Not unpleasant by the mid point as some of the more subtle notes come into play.

"Natural" and homey so let's say proto-cottagecore. They certainly don't make new scents like this. I'm surprised this is still in production. Nowadays a 20 year old will go for Khamrah, which is supposed to be a gourmand cozy fragrance but is so dynamic and jazzy compared to a humble profile such as Rochas Man.

Defindo

I blind bought this fragrance and it doesn't quite smell how you'd imagine. Personally, I don't get much coffee out of this fragrance, to me it's overly-sweet with a coffee musk behind it. Therefore I can't really see why the highest accord is coffee, to me it's very clearly sweet vanilla.

This fragrance is extremely easy to overspray, I found 5 sprays to be almost repulsive which put me off a little bit, on my second wear I went with 3 and it was MUCH better. However, it should be noted it's still mainly sweet-vanilla though the lower spray count made the coffee-musk scent a little more noticeable.

It does have a cheap-smelling opening but that goes fairly fast, in around 5 minutes or so I'd say. The atomizer is really good for the price and has a high output which I'm a big fan of.

Overall, for the price, it's a decent fragrance that I'll be wearing for short casual trips to save my more expensive fragrances for better occasions. I'd give this a "like" and put it at around 6/10.

as i see on this video youtube.com/watch?v=eOk-U8gtaBI the G.O.A.T of basketball wears ROCHAS MAN created by the G.O.A.T of fragrances MOURICE ROUCEL..
1 more fun fact ... this one smells like MICHAEL JORDAN LEGEND...
So there are 4 "legends" envolved here ROCHAS MAN... MAURICE ROUCEL ... LEBRON ... JORDAN

Kelz23

Lebron James had a short post game interview in front of his locker last week and I saw he had this bottle in his locker with all his other toiletries. And it was more than half way done! Lol! I would’ve never thought he’d be wearing this $25 fragrance but he is. I thought that was pretty cool since he’s a billionaire. Anyway, I’m bringing this back out bc Lebron my favorite player lol. It’s a good fragrance, nothing special but it smells nice. If I didn’t see that Lebron had it, it would still be collecting dust tbh. Actually, it’ll probably be collecting dust again next week just because my collection is pretty big

Tits McGee

I don’t know exactly which notes are creating the effect, but to me it smells like a shot of sambuca; complete with the coffee bean garnish. I like it a lot! It’s unique and creative and quite unisex. Performance is unfortunately nothing to write home about. If you can get it for a good 50% discount then I’d say it’s worth trying out if you like your scents on the less conventional side.

Shpeeep

This is how I remember Lush stores smelling in 2005, when I was still in school and having my mind blown by the creativity of a moisturising bar with dried mung beans in it to massage you while you moisturise, like adidas massage slides for your bathroom routine. Warm gourmand vanilla is the predominant and overarching experience, but this isn't so warm that you couldn't wear it in the heat of summer. The fruitiness is reined in well by the light coffee note, making it read more 'cafe meeting' than 'raspberry vanilla shortcake bomb'. The coffee is sweet and light but not lactonic to my nose, evoking more the flavour of kopiko hard lollies than an actual hot cappuccino. I don't smell any lavender in this so far, and since it's a top note in the pyramid I don't have high hopes of it emerging late in the drydown - that's a disappointment to me since lavender is one of my favourite notes, and I was keen to experience it in a sweeter gourmand context. Hints of patchouli rise from the heat of my skin to coax vanilla out of it's borderline hysterical entrance, backed up by a delicious amber and sweet sandalwood (which I expected to be a creamy note but it really isn't in this). I'm still not getting lavender, or any citrus or cedar, however the white florals and sweet rich coffee-cake are mellow and airy. The price of this compared to its quality (and lack of 'synthetic' fumy, cheap ethanol, melted vinyl couch accords I often sense in under $45AUD options) is an astounding bargain, even if performance turns out suboptimal. This isn't really my style, but I think it fits well into almost any collection. I do think it's unisex, except for the fact it's marketed for men and it's a recognisable scent so people will know what you're wearing and I can imagine that could deter some women. The bottle is iconic! I only have a sample so I don't know if the iconic bottle is good quality and well engineered, but I do see that it's a unique and aesthetic design which may reviewers have been very harsh about! It must be doing it's job then, as 'art is meant to make you feel something', as they say.

Edit: ok longevity isn't great, but when it becomes a skin scent its a pretty ideal 'your skin but better', 'i can't smell perfume anymore but I still smell *nice*' type of thing.

Ayman Abdelhameed

I don't like .. it's a Vanilla Bomb 💣

Samurai23

I think you have to keep the price in mind when reviewing this perfume, because it's super cheap...but it does not smell cheap. It's a very pleasant and well rounded/blended smell. It does not smell synthetic to me.
This to me is a perfect cheap, everyday, autumn, office, men's fragrance.
The notes that are noticeable to me are the coffee, patchouli and vanilla, but none of them stick out too much.
The only drawback and the reason why I haven't bought a bottle of this... is the bottle...
This is the most homosexual bottle I've seen. Is that their target customer base...? WTF... ?

International

Beautifully elegant Coffee and Lavender scent.
Quite the interesting bottle which is always a conversation starter when I have guests over, which can be a good or bad thing.
Performance is pretty weak, I get maybe 1 hour max of projection.
Scent is perfectly unisex to be honest, both men and women can wear this without second thought.
Keep a travel atomizer on you to respray.

girayak100

rochas is such an classic wish to be it has a better performance and sillage. also i cannot get the coffee note for some reason...

Sweetboy05

I just got this today and I'm going to give my first impressions.

I love it. It really smells like sweet coffee, which is similar to Michael Jordan's "Legend". It's also kind of fruity coming from the raspberry, and more vanilla sweetness. And I got it just in time for the winter, so I will be definitely enjoying this.

Unique bottle design too!

pronose

Again the reformulation killed the Fragrance! The current version is just weak & watered down👎 Rochas released Rochas man intense in 2023'which is more close to the original version! The current edt version is very far from the original version! Dommage! But I really love this unique scent❤️

Justin01

Old vs new.
Old version had much more coffee vanilla tones, the new batch has little to none. But still a pleasant cologne. New batch is more sweet lavender and citrus to it. Still an enjoyable wear, but not close to the original. More male, but can be unisex. Truly it will adapt to who wears it. I love to wear a sport coat and dress shirt and ppl think I will have an amber or musk and I come around all sweet and complex.
Any day, any time, close n personal and good in crowds. Who doesn’t like coffee with some sweetness to it.
Would buy again & girlfriend’s favorite cologne so far too.

Ferra_Verto

Creamy lavender & vanilla-forward latte. Very delicious and perfect for autumnal weather.
Decent sillage and always lasts 6+ hrs on my my skin and a touch longer on clothes.

am a flaming unisex user, but this one is a fail. My brother gave some of his abandoned shoe box fragrances to me, insisting I would like this one as a unisex man, but I don't think I will ever like this scent. I can't tell coffee vanilla but it must be that Patchouli that is kind of present. The design is both atrocious as it is a laughable oddity to collect, so glad to have it now. and it doesn't remind of that, you know, I am thinking of a lava lamp and Beldar from coneheads.

Ok I must admit that I kinda smell the coffee notes, eventually. Please don't give hate me for mine experience.

bojakenthusiast

i like it but it kinda smells like walking into 2009, and why they gotta shape da bottle like that 😭. i get very little coffee from this fragrance i get wayyyyy more vanilla and lavendar which is fine because those are two of my favorite scents of anything. never tried any other "coffee" fragrances because ive just recently been getting into fragrances so i dont have anything to compare it to but idk maybe im just noseblind to what coffee even smells like. projection also kinda sucks i wore 6 sprays of it to school and then to work the other day and not a single person noticed it. not dissapointed in my purchase tho cuz it was only like 20 bucks, makes my skin smell quite nice and is a fantastic room spray

Odor Aeternitatis

As a fragrance lover, I have tried several gourmand fragrances and wanted to have one, and got this one. And it's not bad at all, it's delicious! Overall, gourmand fragrance is not my type of scent. These are my other notes:

Very nice and smooth creamy, coffee and vanilla scent
Terrible bottle
Ladies around you probably love this scent
Unisex
It's nicer on the skin
Low to average performance

6.5/10

ZeaMoore4

Very smooth, very gourmand, very pleasant.

Pure Unisex.

The bottle is unique, and terrible. When picking it up, be careful. If you don't grab it hard enough, it can slip out of your hand. A Bad design in my opinion.

A synthetic and a little cheap smelling fragrance, but for the price, it's really good.

I use it in the colder days/nights of summer, and it's not a problem. So I'd say fall, winter and spring is fine.

A 8/10 from me. Great as a cheap option for a casual night out fragrance.

Although great, I'll Always rather reach for "Carolina Herrera, Bad Boy" if I want a solid cacao based date night/night out fragrance.

Blind buy safe if you like coffee, vanilla and lavender.

Fortyfree

It's a little earthy at first but quickly becomes sweet, malty and with plenty of vanilla. It's also a little bit "chocolatey," and finished with a light dusting of coffee over a pleasing cedar wood foundation. There's some amber in the base too.

Love the smell of this. It's a massively influential fragrance, a game-changer some might say. The likes of One Million can draw a direct lineage back to this, however...The current formulations have poor perfomance! It's been heavily watered down!?!

They obviously haven't trialled the current batches on someone with my skin chemistry.

Shame, the scent itself is great.

LUKEDAGILL

An amazing coffee and lavender scent that is perfect for any winter occasion. Although the performance is average at best, the price and scent profile makes up for it].

SNKIOP

Winter Scent 7/10 Gorgeous cappuccino coffee opening, very sweet gourmand, warm vanilla. Great for cold days, for being cozy. Silage 5/10 Longevity 4/10

taxdoctor

Really wanted to like this since I love Coffee Break, but this doesn’t really do much for me. The coffee in this one reminds me more of a spill inside a car that you forgot to clean up.

vbs221

This is an addicting scent. When I first got it, I actually initiated a return request, because while it was pleasant, I could barely detect any coffee--it is so slight. It is mostly lavender, vanilla, powder, and some smooth sweetness, but the combo is so smooth and so addicting that I cancelled the return request.

It smells like a delicious Betty Crocker vanilla cake with some lavender and a touch of coffee. The slight coffee is just enough to make this unisex as opposed to feminine. This smells like a confident man walking in an urban setting or into a nice bakery or coffee shop. This is actually ideal to wear in a coffee shop, as the coffee scent of the place would perfectly complement the cake scent. The poster of this fragrance (showing the bottle in a modern city street at night) swayed me to buying this, and I'm glad it did. It's a wonderful urban fragrance.

mrperq

Coffee, chocolate and lavender.

Looking at other reviewers I see most votes go to the winter and fall. I disagree. Yes, this is a gourmand, and those are the seasons gourmands are typically good for. But this is not a typical gourmand.

This is a spring scent. While yes, you can get away with this in fall and winter, this is the kind of fragrance that extends the gourmand season, not shines when its at its highest.

The lavender is really prominent and makes it smell really fresh and clean. Too fresh to feel comfortable if you're cold. This smells like sipping a hot cappucino, outside, in a field of lavender, and unless its weather where you could see yourself doing just that, I dont think this scent comes fully to its right.

It does not perform bad on me, as I've often read on others. On skin lasts till the end of the day, on clothes wont leave till you wash them.

It smells really good and ladies do seem to love it.

I got this as it was compared to A*men, and I love amen (pre-reformulation, haven't tried the last one yet). But I dont think this are comparable scents at all. Amen is a much heavier, fullblown cold weather fragrance. Of the two, I do prefer amen, but certainly not unhappy about this addition to my collection at all, and doesn't feel redundant either. I'm wearing it quite often.

One thing to note: the bottle did require a few months of maturating to come fully into its own though. I really didn't like it at first spray.

Oh, and the bottle itself is simply atrocious. I can get beyond the part it looks like a sex toy people put in places where the sun dont shine, the person who thought it was a good idea to have the atomiser facing down when the bottle is standing up really needs to rethink his career options. Fear of leakage drives me so nuts I can't store this thing anywhere but in its box, upside down.

fragrancesexy123

It doesn't even smell a hint of coffee or vanilla. The lavender is there but it's not pleasant, very synthetic and strong. This fragrance is intoxicating in an unpleasant way, it's like spraying cleaning chemicals on yourself.

Irvdaman15$

For the price this is amazing .
Sweet, alluring and edible smelling.
Its like a more softer version of Angel man that could be worn all year long.
The drydown is very amazing and special. The coffee lavender and vanilla blend very nicely with the raspberry.
9/10.

hell nose

Sweet & Vanilla....... Thats all......!!!!
very pleasent scent - safe for every day use.
Good price ( Cheap for what it gives you ).
I love it very much - everyone loves it....!!!!
My rating is 85/100

Onlineturk

Awesome scent but no sillage, very weak longevity too. I have used 6-7 bottles before but time to move on i guess

Marcjohn86

For the price, you can't really beat this. I paid less than 30 including delivery and taxes, and for it I received this absolute gem of a fragrance. I feel like this comes from a long line of scents that came in the wake of the highly successful Thierry Mugler A*Men, which might just be the most influential fragrance of the last 35 years. This doesn't really smell like A*Men, but it does go in a sweeter direction the way that A*Men does, and unlike any other fragrances that came out before it, or at least to the extent that A*Men did. This is lighter, sweeter, whereas A*Men is a complete beast mode powerhouse of a fragrance that some may even consider to be challenging with it's notes of leather and patchouli, yet it has a gourmand coffee accord that makes it seem almost edible, and this is very much in the same style. It smells like dessert, or breakfast as some have said. This is so wearable, you could wear this anywhere and I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately, but it's one of those things that you can wear almost anywhere and it just fits, and I think you could even wear this as a Netflix and Chill type of scent with your significant other, I feel like this is almost the perfect Valentine's Day scent in that regard. To me, anybody 25 and up would probably really like this, it has a little bit of a maturity/sophistication to it that makes me feel like younger than 25 probably would be less likely to enjoy this, but this definitely isn't an old man's scent even though it came out in 1999.

It's somewhat notorious for having poor performance, and indeed it does quickly become an intimate scent, but the longevity seems completely fine, I've been wearing it since about 7:30 (it's almost 11 now) and I still have a nice scent bubble, but I'm sure that I don't have much of a trail. I feel like even though this is my first full wearing, I know more or less how this is going to go: 4-6 hours of longevity, and the first 90 minutes it'll have some push but not much. You have to spray a little bit more than other fragrances I'd say, but not by much. I really feel like this is going to be one of my go-tos this spring oddly enough, I live in a cooler climate, so it stays pretty cool especially in the evenings until summer, and even then I think this would work real well. I cannot say it enough how much I like this, I feel like this fits in very well for someone who likes those more ambiguous/unisex style mens releases, where maybe you can tell that they're masculine to an extent, but the way in which they're masculine is quite subtle. Fragrances like Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, the Valentino Uomo line, VC&A's Midnight In Paris, Bvlgari's Black, and even YSL's La Nuit De L'Homme and Chanel's Allure Homme come to mind for this category. If you like those kinds of fragrances, you should add this to your collection.

Denkmusic

This is the one of my top.
I just can't stop enjoying this fragrance. Having in my collection more expensive stuff, but Rochas Man is my love. I use it as a night time fragrance, like to spray my pillow before I go to bed.
It's sweet, gentle, incredibly cozy and safe, when I smell it, I get a feeling that I'm home. It has great anti-stress effect for me. I can't imagine anyone not like this scent.
It's 100% unisex to me, not feminine or masculine.
It's a little bit synthetic, but not in a bad way at all.
Being a coffee lover, I don't really get the coffee notes in it. Rather it smells like a good raspberry vanilla desert.
Not a huge projector, but it stays on skin and clothing for a decent amount of time.
It definitely outperforms some more expensive fragrances in longevity.
Speaking of presentation, I don't get the associations with adult toys. The bottle looks very interesting, like a lava lamp and I like it a lot.
Interesting enough that the first day I bought it I couldn't detect any smell from it. I think that it needs some air in the bottle to activate the smell. From the second day the smell appears and it became way stronger in a couple weeks.

dexilio

Inoffensive coffee scent. A solid cold weather dumb reach. Not cloying at all. This fragrance is aging so well. Get yourself a bottle already!

Afc_Croatian

I am a total sucker for coffee and vanilla scents. Along with the fact that this is a vintage fragrance.

Rochas Man already holds a special place in my collection, the first note you will pick up is the coffee, it's not dominant but it's pleasing and subtle, inviting and welcoming. Picture you're sipping on your overpriced cappuccino in a cafe on a cool winter afternoon. This is best-worn in the morning when you don't want an explosion of fragrance in your face first thing in the morning.

Only other notes I pick up ever so slightly are the raspberry in the mid and the patchouli on the drydown, but the coffee stays prominent throughout. Very clean stuff. Safe to purchase online and a vintage fragrance that I recommend to add to your collection.

8/10

Adz

This was a good club scent for me, the sweet coffee powdery vanilla combo did used to pull some compliments.

Always preferred this to Michael Jordan legend which has pretty abysmal performance.

Update : The initial review was based on a 10 year old bottle which has since run out, bought a 2023 batch recently and unfortunately reformulation seems to have taken its toll on performance. Im getting nowhere near as good longevity and the dry down doesnt seem quite as pleasant as before. Shame.

Sanrio

This is a very nice scent for a man. It's the kind of scent that would make people think that *you* smell good, rather than you smell like you're wearing fragrance.

I get a classic sharp masculine lavender accord, something akin to orris root/iris, and vanilla-cappucino in a way that doesn't feel too sweet or edible. Definitely get some amber in the dry down but the rest of the notes are lost on me. Simple, classy, unique.

d2blepeace

Rochas Man is a cheapie that I can wear after taking a shower or before going to bed, such a delicious gourmand fragrance. I would grab this bottle for hiking or jogging when it is a little bit cold outside as well.

I was fascinated with the start of a creamy coffee mixed with some clean floral scent. It is not the warm or powdery bitterness of the roasted coffee beans, but it's the cup of coffee that has some creamer and sugar. I don't recognize the bergamot or the rasberry but the woody scent appear naturally after 5-10 minutes to balance the sweetness. This is one of a few fragrances that I can identify clearly the notes after spraying it.

30 minutes later, the coffee goes on with the slight fruity. I can get a hint of patchouli and the sandalwood, but I wish that the jasmine can stay longer on my skin.

The bottle design is definitely unique but I don't quite like it. However the scent of coffee is amazing for this range of price. Projection is moderate for the first 1-2 hours and becomes an edible skin scent. This one reacts differently on my clothes so I will only spray it on my arms or wrists so that I can enjoy it better.

elight_l

To me, it is 60% Versace Dreamer + 30% Dior Savuge + 10% Baccarat Rouge 540. Was Maurice Roucel and Rochas that advanced, in 1999? What a germ and what a bargain!

MuscularMan27YO.

this is a really calm not so strong smell- its just smooth and nice in any occasion.

MY37

Very close to Al Rehab EDP Rayan Black spray.

dglightblue

Synthetic yes, but pleasant.
Skin test.
Creamy coffee ish with an eraser feel and clean baby powder/make up.
Not powdery overall.

I've recently tried guess man seductive which has the rubber thing going on, also boss in motion has the poverty clean smooth element.. .

Unisex I'd say

hasnomoney

A good cheapie winter fragrance that has a nice smell. It's like if you mixed a coffee with sweets. Pleasant, lasts around 6 hours, and I like it. Debating if I should get Burberry London for men or this.

Trentyoung91

Vanilla cappuccino. Nice powdery dry down. Solid performance but nothing crazy. Love it while working on the cooler weather.

Q: For those that know. Does this have similarities with Ralph Lauren's Red Extreme, now discontinued ?
Really appreciate feedback. 😊

BigJarOfHoney

This perfume is very beautiful and dear to me.
Sweet and fresh at the same time.
There are few such perfumes that are like that.
Coffee, wood, citrus fruits, vanilla beautifully blended.
I don't know, this perfume always confuses me, because sometimes it's more fresh and sometimes it's more sweet.
Something that everyone should own, because its price is beyond ridiculous.
I love him because he makes me happy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6/10 Perfume performance - excellent when compared to the price. It probably lasts 6 hours, it all depends on weather conditions and skin.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 8/10 Perfume rating - a wonderful gentle and smooth perfume. Something that could be worn when going on a date with a girl. Edible and gourmet perfume. You will be irresistible :)

I’ve got this because I’ve bought Coffee Break from Maison Margiela and really loved it so I wanted to dabble in the Coffee scent realm.

This has a very slight chocolate coffee smell with some brightness. But that’s it, it’s a very okay fragrance.

To me Coffee Break is a much better Coffee scent but since this is a fraction of the price I can’t really complain.
The quality is good if not even great.

I always spray this on before bed or when I wanna wear something at home but don’t want anything strong or very specific smelling. This you can even overspray and not get sick of it.

VinceChi1178

I’m a big fan of this one. It’s been in my collection for a long time (long before I really had a collection). Before reading the notes (or even caring about notes), I always felt it gave off a creamy chocolate vibe. I now see that there’s a coffee note, which I can definitely pick out. It blends quite nicely with the vanilla to give off that chocolate feel I so enjoy. The lavender gives it a slight powdery aspect, which I really like alongside the sweet creaminess of the coffee and vanilla.

As my collection has grown, so has my appreciation of this fragrance. It offers up something unique to anything else I own, and I find myself reaching for it often in the fall months when I crave a cozy, sweet scent. It’s definitely a fragrance I’ll repurchase when my current bottle runs out.

If you are testing this for the first time, keep in mind the dry down is nice but the opening can be rough. So don't decide if you hate/like the fragrance straight away from the opening wait until the dry down completely. Also this is a scent that smells different on clothes than skin, something that in air gives off a different smell than smelling it up close on skin or paper. To be fair to this fragrance give it a spray on your clothes and then smell it in the air and wait until the dry down. You should be getting really nice wifts of it in the air after applying it. That is the charm of this fragrance and it's more realistic to how other people will smell it on you, they won't put their nose up to your instead they will get wifts of it in the air around you like when hugging you or walking past you and being in the same room.

Yes it does smell synthetic, but synthetic isn't always bad. There is many good things here like a very smooth, creamy and sexy dry down. The raspberry, lavender & coffee note is more noticeable in the opening but really fades in the dry down where it balances perfectly with the other notes such as the vanilla

velvetvice

Got a tiny decant of this to try out. For some reason I really expected the coffee/cappuccino note in this to be have that bitterness of actual coffee, or to be a bit more true to life. But it isn't. This is more like a sugary coffee candy. Pleasant enough, but too synthetic. Still very modern. I probably wouldn't be able to wear it out if it were any sweeter. Coconut and vanilla comes to mind. Slightly gourmand in the dry-down.

Djedi

Candied lavender on a bed of a light floral cup of cappuccino. I recently picked up a bottle again and can confirm the scent has been watered down (no surprise there). I had a 2009 bottle years ago and even though it never was a strong scent, it did linger on nicely for 6-7 hours, creating an intimate bubble around you. The more recent bottles have abysmal performance and the scent is gone within 2 hours, being an immediate skin scent. I agree with people who complain about performance cause it's really unfortunate, since you'll need to douse yourself in order to be able to somewhat enjoy it.

Sweet but not juvenile smelling, and holds up pretty well after all these years. Comforting scent which can be worn casually or even to the office. Soft vanillic notes, candied lavender, a light (synthetic) coffee accord, I mean if you enjoy gourmandish scents, you surely have sampled this one by now. I also had what appears to be the Intense version which came out in 2002 (but strangely very little is known about this release) and found the coffee/cappuccino accord much more pronounced in the Intense version, while it wasn't as vanillic sweet as I thought it would be.

I wouldn't hesitate picking up a ''vintage'' pre 2011-2012 bottle if I'd ever find it online.

Recently purchased a tester of this blindly expecting little to no projection based on reformulation talk. I may have over sprayed a bit after shower but this was projecting for 2 hours many feet away or halfway across the living room as I was just sitting in a chair. Was still detectable on skin the next day and I was still catching wafts off my clothing the next day without respraying. Wife interpreted as coconuts she liked it just fine. This doesn't come across as cheap or particularly high end but it's just solid. For 26 bucks I don't see anything matching it's likeability for fall wear. It doesn't at all smell dated either. It has the right barely detectable amount of vanilla for a man's fragrance. Possibly they use star anise, woods, and vanilla to make this coffee like note. It's a nice blend. I will have to keep testing this in different situations...

I've been wearing this stuff since I was a teen. Used to love it. I made tons of great memories with it, including compliments when hugging women. This scent brings back all those memories... Unfortunately this has been reformulated. It's no longer what it was, the longevity is the weakest of all my scents, lasting around 2 hours. It used to last 8. The only time I still wear this is when I want a hit of nostalgia.

ROUSAK

Cotton candy freshened with lavender. Sweet but not cloying. Unisex fragrance. 7.5/10

clintjr82

Smells great. I prefer this over Ferragamos Uomo. Rocha is less synthetic and smoother. You will get overwhelming compliments. Its only a $25 dollar bottle. A no brainer buy - blind buy if you like gourmands.

Nitrib

If you looking for a "woody spicy" scent, it can be misleading. More oriental than woody, imo. I find it quite refreshingly sweet, not so densely or sirupy (2021 formulation). Quality juice, especially for this price range. 8/10

maxpowerboston

Got a sealed 2009 batch bottle. Brown juice. Light lavender, some "coffee" note (which still smells more generic vanillin sweetness than actual coffee to me), tons of benozin/vanilla. Reminds me a lot of vintage Givenchy Pi, actually, especially as it dries down. Far better constructed than today's bottles. The oakmoss this still has in it (which isn't noticeable to me) must add some backbone missing from the newer ones, where they just felt more generically sweet.

Longevity on this old bottle is 8-10 hours for me with a few of projection but it's not a loud fragrance. Never was.

A 7.75/10 for me for vintage. If you can grab a pre-2011 bottle for cheap (some exist on Facebook/Mercari) and you want to revisit this scent, go for it.

danielenachem

Longevity and silage are non-existent on my skin. I think I used 20 sprays one day and I still barely smelled it. Will stick to ferragamo uomo for my coffee scent…

brand117

A great fragrance for bedtime- it's soft, dry lavender, and unsweetened coffee. Cozy and comfortable. It will not last to save its life, but for the price you cannot argue with it. I like it in particular because it's not overtly masculine and could very easily be considered unisex.

AdamC937

Rochas - Rochas Man
I have really begun to dig on gourmands, so I bought this after reading over and over about how nice this scent is. I have to fall in line with that thought also. It is a very very nice smooth Raspberry coffee almost candy smell. As it settles in a bit more vanilla comes out but the raspberry stays with it. You may need to spray 1 or 2 or 3 more sprays than you think to chase it off of your skin and let others around you get a sniff. This would be great for a get together or a night at home relaxing, no one will be offended here if they can smell it on you that is.
Longevity: needs some help, only a couple of hours and need to re-apply.
Projection: after 2hours basically a skin scent
Price : Good value for $35-40 range
Score : 71/100

Michel Silencieux

Overall it’s a very pleasant scent. The opening smells like a custard pastry with a sweet cappuccino sitting in the background. After a few minutes I can smell the raspberry and floral notes and within 30 minutes it turns into a vanilla and sandalwood mix on my skin. The scent left on my clothes is one of freshly laundered cloth, which is nice. Definitely a nicely layered experience, but the longevity is no more than moderate for me. It’s projection is not particularly powerful either, but I would avoid over spraying it as I still believe my own personal body scent should be part of any fragrance. I would put this scent in the unisex category, but as a bloke I am happy to wear this for outings to the coffee shop or casual and family get togethers.

The price is low for this quality scent and the layered transitions make me happy. It’s a big thumbs up from me.

Ron H

A nice coffee fragrance. MJ legend is similar smelling but is more spicy. If you want a more obvious coffee bean note, try Halloween Man X.

If you like this DNA also try out Al-Rehab Rayan Black. Rayan black is a similar DNA but has less spice and lavender and is more gourmand and chocolatey.

radi85

Got a 50ml today. I was expecting more from this fragrance. I get mainly the raspberry with some vanilla and lavender. I do not get a coffee note. Overall fruity sweet fragrance, smells a bit synthetic and not of a good quality. Performance is moderate. Compared to a*man, the Mugler fragrance smells of better quality, stronger, sweeter and with noticeable coffee note. The bottle however is quite cool.

artfulsmeller

I'm not sure about this one. My preference is fresh and classy smelling, but this is neither fresh nor classy and leans towards something raunchy. It is underwhelming and the coffee note does not suit my taste. I had high hopes for this because of the fragrance community hype, but it just does not seem to suit my personality.

bangingmrsnick

I don't love it nor hate it and for some reason I can't quit it. Just a few more sprays and I just know it'll be my signature winter fragrance.

a2zbeats

Originally purchased as a sample vial from MicroPerfumes. I was so impressed with this stuff that I ended up purchasing a full 3.2oz bottle for under 40 bucks. It smells like I would envision a northwoods coffee shop. Comforting, warm, sweet and cozy, perfect for winter months. Also makes a fantastic base cologne for blending with other woodier colognes. Primary scents in order are coffee, vanilla, lavender, amber, sugar and sandalwood. I would actually consider this fragrance unisex leaning towards male, the right kind of woman could definitely pull this one off.

JL2271

I really enjoyed this back in the day. It suited me when I wanted my scent to be less dramatic than Amen but I really wanted that coffee/somewhat gourmand vibe. For the sake of nostalgia I got a small decant. Still very nice .Now I pick up notes differently and the lavender is obvious. I think I know what the inspiration for Replica Coffee Break was..Overall very pleasant, comforting scent dries down nicely.

Starbug2022

Masterfully blended lite gourmand. Created by a legendary perfume master. Smells way more expensive than the bargain price it's retailing at. If you have a burgeoning perfume collection this ought to be in it. Sweet without the sickly. Brilliant.

jeannebelmondo

I bought this one because I am a woman who loves Replica Coffee Break (and so does my boyfriend, who steals it often) and this was recommended by many people as not a dupe, but being in a similar vein to Coffee Break. And it definitely is, though I think women looking for a cheaper dupe for Coffee Break should definitely just go for the original.

Rochas Man has that same intoxicating lavender-coffee-vanilla opening of Coffee Break, and upon first spraying it I was impressed with how close the resemblance is. Coffee Break is misunderstood by many, but it is a truly androgynous fragrance -- not unisex, but rather flirting with both very traditionally girly and manly notes in a way that feels timeless and masculine but also girly and coquettish, and there is plenty of that here as well. However, as it lingered for a few more minutes, and then more and more as time passed, it morphed more and more into a fresh and rather generic feeling '90s/'00s men's aromatic. I don't find a masculine scent unappealing on me, so my dislike doesn't come from that -- but to me at least, the generic locker room aromatic cologne that dominates after is not nearly as beautiful as the opening, and Coffee Break's milky vetiver cedar dry down manages to have that gender-bending quality without smelling as out of fashion or smelling like a young dude's clubbing cologne.

Performance is indeed low, maybe lower than Coffee Break -- but unless a fragrance is exorbitantly expensive, I really do not mind that -- I don't want my fragrances to speak for me, just to give a subliminal good impression of me. I'm just a little let down by how dated and teenage boy-ish the dry down smells, and for that reason, it is a strong like and not an absolute love, despite the opening minute smelling like a dead ringer for my beloved Coffee Break.

But for somebody out there, my loss is your gain, and it's still worth the sample, because it's a delightfully fun ride nonetheless!

crx

Beautiful frag that also can be used as a sex toy lol. I don't really smell coffee at all, rather caramel and lavender. It's creamy and it's the only truly unique frag of this type of scent in the sea of bland "Man" copycats from every designer that followed like Prada, Versace, YSL etc who each released their own bland, neutered of any personality or character version of this type of scent. I don't know if Rochas was the first one or not with this but it certainly remains the best to this date imo.

nkl

creamy coffee ish and loud ish sillage but ironically doesn't last at all on my skin ( 30min ish)
It's great but doesn't last long, I prefer Jordan's Legend

MidwesternGothic

Sweet, creamy, and masculine. Some complexity but completely linear, which I like a lot in this scent. Smells delicious. It is definitely a cappuccino note, not just a coffee note. Safe for the office or other places or occasions where a powerful scent might bother others. A second pump at each area of application won’t get you any more longevity, but does seem to increase projection and sillage.

candi_n_spice

Ooh, I like this one, it's yummy! It reminds me a little bit of AG Cloud, but more masculine, and with coffee. The lavender vanilla is cozy and comforting, but there's much more going on too. Little bit woody and sexy. Would be great in cooler weather!

Monke go brr

I don't like how this perfume makes me feel.

I think it smells quite expensive contrary to some opinions here... I think it's very similiar to JPG le male Le parfum (maybe 60%).

It's mostly lavender and vanilla with some coffee. Not my style at all, and the bottle is just horrendous. If you like le male le parfum you will for sure like this though. Smells much more expensive than it's price.

mistahzg

Delicious! A favorite of mine. Smooth, creamy coffee (think cafe au lait) with lavender and vanilla. Doesn't last too long on me (about 5-6 hours then it's a skin scent) but for the price I think its definitely worth the money, about $40-$50. Definitely unisex. Overall 7/10

Danne

The same vibes like Dunhill man and Moschino uomo? I O. Soft and elegant fragrance

Hamiriza

Soo delicious and projects very well, I got 9-10 hours with rochas.. Batch production 2011, still good in quality and scent

ponderbread

I was scrolling down to leave a review and went past a razor ad that said "90 seconds and done" which, oddly enough, is exactly what I was going to say about Rochas Man. Smells good while it lasts.

Novoscentologist

Rochas man...

...when it came out I found it very unique as it wasn't and still isn't very common to incorporate a coffee note to fragrances.
I still believe it is quite unique in nowadays saturated perfume market where it seems to be more popular to follow trends rather than being a little bit different.

The most prominent notes are definitely the coffee/cappuccino note which is tickled by a subtle raspberry note.
Users who can't pick the note should get their nose checked or return the bottle because it might be from a bad batch.

The coffee/raspberry note blends nicely into a vanilla and soft wood note during the dry down.
It is not as strong as it used to be which is ok considering that it is a lot less expensive nowadays.

thebloff

A soothing, warm, and creamy fragrance. It gives me similar vibes to Bleu De Chanel Parfum's drydown + a little bit of Dior Homme Intense. Looking to get a full bottle soon.

8.5/10

nickvenix

One of the few fragrances I genuinely cannot stand. Could only stand it for about an hour on my skin before having to wash it off. Smells extremely synthetic and something in it does not cooperate with my nose whatsoever.

OldBoy*

great smell, worst performance..

Jibbie

Wonderful scent, horrible performance.

To ensure I wasn’t being too harsh on this scent, I sprayed one arm with Rochas Man and the other with Ferragamo Uomo. Rochas man had almost dissipated within the 1-2 hour mark while Uomo was still going strong.

I would recommend only purchasing this fragrance at heavy discount. It’s a great coffee scent that smells like a cafe at breakfast time, but it’s difficult to recommend something that cannot stay on skin for even a tenth of a day.

FragrantBob

If you already own Uomo by Salvatore Ferragamo then there is no need to buy Rochas Man as they are both very similar. I prefer the dry-down of Ferragamo Uomo, but Rochas Man has a nicer opening with a more distinct coffee note. Rochas Man is a nice fragrance, it is definitely unisex and has broad appeal. It opens with coffee, vanilla and some raspberry notes. The notes are subtle and well blended and don't come off as too synthetic in the opening. During the dry-down I notice some floral notes that add a little complexity. Overall a nice fragrance that has moderate projection for the first couple of hours and then becomes a more intimate skin scent. I think it would be a reasonable date night fragrance if you wanted something that smells tempting but not too bold. This fragrance didn't have the wow factor for me that it has for some reviewers, but I do like it. However I think I'll stick with Ferragamo Uomo that has a sexy dry-down and better performance. But if you want a more intimate scent with a nice, sweet coffee note and great value for money then Rochas Man is a fantastic option.

Swashbuckler9x

Think a milky marriage of coffee-lavender.
The cuddliest, coziest scent. Fantastic for close encounters and rainy days in.

Performance isn't bad. Just that, not bad.

Danitom

This was a blind buy. I really thought that I was going to like this given the coffee note and the good review score on Fragrantica. But it isn't exactly my taste. The opening smells very chemically and reminds of "Final Net" (my mom's hairspray back in the 70s) and not in any good way. Thankfully, that goes away after less than 5 minutes. Then, it turns into something that isn't very bad but it isn't very good either. Just kind of "meh". The coffee note is almost non-existent and the whole concoction is more powdery. Another reviewer mentioned that it reminds him of baby-wipes, I totally get that. Yeah, it's inexpensive at discounters, but there is much better out there in the same price range. 3/10 overall.

Aramis64

One of the worst smelling Rochas fragrances for me. There is this sweet note in it that I absolutely hate and I can't find out what it is. The same note as in Dunhill's Desire en CK Shock... maybe you guys know what that note is?

rodrigo.vicente

I can’t stand the lavender note in this fragrance. Too pungent, which makes it a pass for me.

Rosdahl@0030

I ordered this fragrance a while ago, and just got this delivered to my house today, I sprayed it on and I got to say I'm impressed with this scent. It's a great gourmand fragrance that reminds you of the first coffee date you had with the woman you fell in love with in the cold fall or winter nights. I especially love that it smells sweet but not sickeningly sweet. It's actually sweet to the point where you can enjoy it without gagging and it makes you want to develop a sweet tooth. Lol. 😉 ✌️

Xzotic Smells

This is a good cool weather fragrance to have. It has that coffee shop vibe going on. This is a unrefined version of Bond No.9's New Haarlem. If you are familiar with that gem, we'll this is it's little brother. As always! Try it for yourself, everyone has different DNA!!!

mutatismutandis

Rochas Man is rather pleasant. It opens with a mix of coffee, vanilla, lavender combined and has a fairly gentle sillage. About 50 minutes in those notes are joined by a hint of patchouli mint, may be some jasmine, possibly a hint of something sweet and it's a little powdery.

Two hours in the combination is coffee, vanilla, mint, lavender, a hint of white florals and a hint of sandalwood and cedar. There's a sense of something that is not quite dustiness or powderiness but is somewhere close to the two. Is there raspberry? I'm not sure whether I smell it or the notes are suggesting its presence to me.

Three hours in the note prominence has changed to lavender, vanilla, coffee, jasmine, lily of the valley, patchouli.
Five hours in and its changed into a vanilla with cappucino. Six hours in and it's vanilla and a general sweetness.

The rest of the fading process takes another two hours or so. The final few discernible traces linger to take the duration of the perfume to eight hours. You might get the occasional little waft for up to twelve hours.

Overall, I don't think this is a perfume for any particular time of day but I feel it's more of a cold weather perfume. Do I like it? Yes. Is it good value? Definitely. Would I be happy with it as a gift? Most assuredly. Would I buy a second bottle? Probably not. The reason is that my current collection is around the mid-40s mark and I just don't find myself reaching for it a lot. I would recommend it in a heartbeat for anyone looking for a gentle perfume and who likes the coffee/vanilla direction but I don't think I'll be back for this until I've used up a lot of my discontinued perfumes which can't be replaced without paying stupid money for them. I think I'd need my collection to dip to around the 30 mark before I would reach for this often enough to justify a proper bottle. But you should definitely try it.

Arlen6

Masterpiece! I checked the notes and wasn’t sure about the fragrance as there were very distinct notes of lavender, coffee, bergamot and raspberry. But, but but…. The combination is super duper delicious. This is beauty that have sweetness, sourness while being intoxicating and sexy at same time. Yes, this is truly unisex and surely king of gourmands. A true compliment getter, head turner and an addictive scent that I love wearing a lot now a days. The smell of freshly brewed coffee, cologne and freshness of lavender flowers around makes it more exciting and loving. Opening notes are more of vanilla, coffee, fruits notes and amber while brings out a pleasant sweet, gourmand like scent that is balsamic and well balanced. Most prominent note is coffee one making this deep and mysterious. Amber and vanilla are close in it making is delicate, inviting, sweet and warm at same time. The scent is casual, aromatic, cozy, comforting, delicious, fruity, floral, intimate, gourmand, relaxing, rich, warm, pleasant and super sexy. Projection and longevity are strong enough. This one is suitable foe winter, fall and colder nights mostly. I prefer wearing it in office, outdoor gatherings, date, romantic evening and even on casual shopping. This is versatile and easy to wear fragrance. Definitely a must buy and try!

AbeStreet

This could be an awesome fragrance. The notes are truly blended wonderfully. It provides the wearer with a warm and inviting scent that transitions slightly from warm and welcoming to warm and cozy as it dries down. However, it is weak and unless you are cuddling with that special someone no one else is likely to even notice your wearing it. Too bad, it is an amazing fragrance. Please don't change the scent profile, just augment it!

BennyDelacroix

Doesn’t last long , doesn’t incredibly create a lasting effect as a smell but you get what you pay for and for the price point it’s not something to be mad at if you love fragrance and collect, something I’d gift to someone younger for a school dance or first date.

Sucio

I was sooo disappointed with this fragrance. Coffee is one of my favorite scents in Fragrances. The longevity on my skin is like..3-4hrs 5 being generous. It sure real close to the skin. Does not project as I thought it would. You really have to go hard on the sprays. Everyone hypee this one up and for me it fell flat. Would not repurchase. Holloween Man X would pimp smack this fragrance. Michael Jordan Legend is WAAAAAAY better then this and cheaper. I would even go as far as Pepe Jeans Celebration which also has coffee. Smells good like cappuccino but doesn't last or project. 6/10 overall from me

Ksj_

It amazes me that my cheaper fragrances always garner the most positive attention. This being one of them. Just buy it.

Jerre

It is an okay scent. I say okay because it just doesn't have punch, as in projection. Its a great scent smell-wise. I get the whole coffee / vanilla thing. It really is very nice. My problem with this is the not-so-good longevity. You really have to soak yourself in this to get any real longevity and projection. The bottle... a bit weird. Some have called it a butt plug. I see it more as a horn..but to each their own I guess. Would I buy it again? No. It just doesn't have the umpff that I want in fragrances. I like performance. This would be a good after shower before bed frag.

Amazing men’s gourmand! Smells of great quality, excellent blend. Perfect vanilla infused coffee with some raspberry and a hint of woody notes towards the end. Outstanding, and for the criminally low price it’s definitely blind buy worthy!

james4sk8

WOW! SMELLS LIKE A WARM VANILLA CAPPUCCINO ON A COLD WINTERS DAY!

Ok I'll stop yelling now but seriously this juice is so amazing and brings back so many great memories for me. I have owned rochas man since 2009 and I don't think I will ever be able to go without a bottle. It is the absolute perfect winter cologne especially when it's snowing outside and your forced to stay indoors with a nice warm fire going and a cup of hot chocolate or a coffee.

It smells just like a cup of vanilla flavored mocha with just the right amount of creamer added. It has a very smooth smell and maintains the same scent throughout the wear. This would be a perfect winter/cold weather scent and is great for when your cuddling with your significant other.

The projection is very close to the skin but it will last a decent amount of time. Luckily it's cheap so you can reapply as needed. Overall this is an amazing cologne

Solid 9/10 fragrance in my book! Thank you Rochas.

Eduardo Reves

at first it smells like cheap soap, the ones you smell on public bathrooms or school or any other place that requires a big ammount of daily soap refill so they buy the cheapest and therefore most sinthetic generic one (maybe that's the lavender, be aware it's a very bad quality one). I see the coffee/capuccino reference, but the cheap soap stays the whole trip

Zadym

In my opinion, this is the Versace Eros with a coffee theme :)

marblelilly

I bought a decant of this perfume because of the similarities I saw with Coffee Break by Maison Margiela. I honestly can't smell the coffee, it just smells like a typical men's cologne to me. There is a light vanilla on the dry down but it's hard to notice.

I have only smelled coffee break at Sephora so my comparison isn't 100% accurate, but I don't think they are similar at all .....

Escoteric

I Feel like Frank Sinatra, here, when I was 17..... well I was 21 and tow old ladies blue rinse came undone, as they asked me in Superdrug what I was wearing? When I told them they looked for it on the aisles and then said where is it? I said err its not available here its available at dept stores and high end boutique as I bought my £1 shaving foam. Whey they got rid of Saber foam I will never know? Anyway I digress. The next question is how much does it cost? When I told them. They said are you mad? We can pay our gas bill for a year for that! It was expensive in the 90's and gas was relatively cheap. Then the one of the old women pinched my bum and said you smell nice for a immigrant! I will still remember that. The next I wore it was to my friends place where his sister asked me waht i was wearing? I told her and she went an bought it for her boss! Me thinks she was having a fling with her boss! I met her 25 years later and she said I still remember that fragrance you wore and do I care for a coffee? Where she proceeded to tell me how her boss would not leave his wife and just saw as an exotic bit of fluff, to try an Indian! I never wore it again. Lovely coffe infused sweet smell. Lovely bottle. I was dating a girl form New Zealand and she kept saying if only I could put battries inside it when your not here!

I love the smell but... This is probably the most douchey smelling frag ever. This is what i imagine pimps wear. Like when i spray this i'm imagining myself back in the 80's NYC wearing a white shirt and red jeans while pimpin out hoes.

Bouquet Bleu

Underrated unsung heroe at an embarrassing low price. Women can easily wear it too. Imo it is a feminine leaning unisex and "nonedible" gourmand.

b1ad3

My brother had a bottle of this in high school back in the day. I liked it so much I picked it up too. This is a highly underrated cheapie fragrance, and a great bang for your buck for cool weather. From what I remember to my nose it was a great mix of lavender, raspberry, vanilla, and coffee. It smells great and remains a strong like.

Guneto

Used to enjoy it, but nowadays it just smells way too synthetic for me.

Bfish88

Weird bottle - Yep
Smooth Vanilla Coffee -Yep
Blended Well - Yep
Smells Expensive - Yep
Dated Fragrance - Debatable
Excellent Cheapie - Oh Yeah!

Wife Loves it so it's always in the rotation for the past 5 years or so. Not quite a love but a really strong like and a great cheap date night fragrance.

9/10 for what it is.

logan.ak

longevity is actually pretty good on my skin when I give it about 6-8 sprays (2 on each wrist, 2-4 on the neck). The cappuccino is noticeable, projection hinders its compliment pulling power but my girlfriend likes it. Feels more like a spring/Fall nighttime fragrance tbh, not strong enough for the winter months.

affordablefrag

Have this fragrance for along time. i think its dated, this sweet type of fragrance is boring,
but it can suits teenagers or young people that like sweet and boring fragrances that do not project

Fragaddict123

The quality for what you pay is unbelievable really high quality scent the coffee here is smooth with other nice ingredients
The only issue to me is the longevity this thing doesn’t perform at all I can smell it for an hour or two then it disappears barely smelling when I put my nose on my shirt

SachinSinghFrag

The level of blending on this is just crazy. Super smooth and refined yet very long lasting. 10/10.

Soft and linear. I got bergamot and coffee all the way through.

Trendkill97

It's a nice sweet cookie-coffee scent with a tinge of sweet rasberry and fresh lavender, stays pretty linear throughout. Though the performance is pretty weak on the newer batches. For the price it's a well put gourmand that could be good in cold winter nights for about 3-4 hours.

Overall 7/10 for me.

tobaccoOUD

This is a beautiful scent. It's like a super smooth french coffee type of smell.
Just wish the performance could be better as this is a winner but I guess the creators never intended for this fragrance to be loud.
For the price this is excellent.

KataK

Cheap as all get out, performance is so so. I guess you get what you pay for. If you're a female that wanted to purchase Coffee Break by Maison Martin Margiela, I'd say go with the Margiela. This leans more lavender than coffee; whereas the MMM leans more coffee. This isn't a bad scent at all, but I will use this up and get the MMM like I should have orgainally.

Apollo114

If you are not into masculine perfumes avoid this one. It's not bad, but as a person who can't stand masculine frags, this one smells sickly and nauseating.

Darkhorse_77

It's a crisp morning sitting at a café inhaling the essence of your cappuccino, a fresh cut bouquet rests on your table. The base notes and Virginia cedar tie this one down to masculinity, a playful scent that you want to insufflate deeply.

ItalianFrags

I’ll buy ten liters of it if it’s performance was at least decent. 3 hours ain’t cutting it. Best smelling fragrance in my 40+ collection.

ammarhyder.1

Performance ruined this beautiful Scent.

meroo

Very pleasant!
It is a sweet coffee scent, cozy, wintery, all things considered an 'alright' fragrance.
Quality is average, performance is average, scent profile is good, price is great.
As it was only an 'ok' for me, it ended up with my GF, who likes it more than I do. Won't repurchase.

figwasp

This is the strongest, most recognizable coffee note I've tried. I thought it would be weak/mild because the note is cappuccino, but nope, it's rich and deep, just wonderfully creamy. Apart from that there's a lovely hint of lavender. That's all I smell, it' fairly linear, but it's so great that is a bonus. I'm female and I find this very easy to wear.

RobertJames

Man is this bottle design slippery! I’ve dropped and broke 2 already. Lol.
Good thing it’s cheap.

It is an easy to wear, smooth, fairly linear coffee fragrance. Projection and sillage are moderate making this a great scent for the office.

yousif_dia

"Incomplete beauty"
Its been a couple of years since i started searching for this rare perfume and i finally found it , i can say it deserves every penny to pay for it , but its only for intimate occaisons because of its bad performance.

You shower with lavender soap and then afterward make yourself a cup of coffee as a neighbor down the road so happens to have an open fire going in his backyard. A bit woody, a little spicy, but oh so cozy. I really enjoy this scent.

Rochas Man EDT opens with a moderate projection of sweet, coffee, vanilla, amber, and soft fruity notes. The opening is very pleasant, it feels gourmand, balsamic, well-balanced, not too heavy, and not faint either. The sweet cappuccino or coffee note is the most prominent, in this fragrance, this note is evocative of blond coffee with a little milk, aromatic but nothing bold or harsh. The vanilla and amber are very close; the vanilla makes the fragrance feel very sweet, delectable, very inviting, on the other hand, the amber contributes with a light resinous, and warm touch. The opening brings light floral and fruity touches, specifically, jasmine, lavender, lily of the valley, and raspberry, but they are support notes, and as such, they are not identifiable as individual notes, but as a group of notes working together to enhance the fragrance and the featured notes. The fragrance transitions from its opening to its dry-down state very quickly, with this transition, some of the initial moderate projection drops making it a more personal space fragrance, more intimate, but noticeable. The sandalwood joins the amber and vanilla enhancing the gourmand characteristics. The cedar and patchouli are enhancing notes, they sharpen the featured notes of the fragrance. The fragrance does not have any significant opening to dry down changes. Once Rochas Man EDT has reached its full-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to low projection, sweet, coffee, vanilla, and resinous fragrance with white floral, fruity, and light woody accords. The fragrance feels aromatic, casual, comforting, cozy, slightly creamy, delectable, delicious, slightly fruity, gentle, gourmand, intimate, invigorating, inviting, light, mild, slightly milky, moderate-quality, modern, natural, nicely-blended, light resinous, relaxing, rich, sweet, unisex, warm, and very pleasant.

I just purchased my 4th bottle. It's a scent I keep coming back to. It doesn't last long, but at this price you can put one at work and one in the car. Definitely a staple. Great for students, those on a budget, or frugal guys that don't want to spend a lot M-Th. It's the perfect weekday scent. Perfect value scent. I don't think you can get a better scent at this price.

Guitar 2016

It's a wonderful fragrance with a deep warm and sweet feeling that it changes your mood. I read comments and checked reviews on YouTube. Katie Puckrik explains this perfume very well. It opens up with like sweet Lemon and Lavender then dry down is like sweet vanilla coffee. It smells so good. The art of bottle design is very unique. This scent is suitable for the fall and winter. I really enjoy it and I love Rochas Man EDT.

The build up on this one was something else. I ordered Rochas Man as a blind buy. After reading the reviews and liking the notes in the pyramid I thought how could I possibly go wrong? After spraying this 4 times I waited a couple of minutes and slowly breathed in. Hoping and anticipating something for something exceptional.. after all, the reviews are very good for this one. The scent was faint. Very faint. It was pleasant enough, but lacking. If this one had at least double the punch to it, I think it would be a nice but weaker fragrance.

I ended up spraying 6 more times over the next hour, hoping I'd get something to be fired up about. Nope. It didn't happen. Not at all. It stayed not much more than a skin scent. I purchased an authentic bottle as it was a reputable distributor and the lot/batch numbers checked out.

I really don't enjoy writing a less than favorable review, but honesty is everything. This one is my first negative review on Fragrantica. I wish it wasn't. But this one for me is weak sauce. Several other reviewers felt the same. Sad to see they discontinued the Intense version on this one. I think that one would have been better. I've read so many reviews on a lot of fragrances that show the reformulations are getting worse often times. Either cheaper formulations or less of the actual oils and more alcohol.

This one just missed the mark for me. You let me down Rochas Man. I expected so much more.

TonyAKAMrClean

Since I started this hobby, I've avoided many of the 90's classics, because, well, they're 90's classics... I figured it was about time that changed and purchased (for the first time) Rochas Man, Joop! Homme, and Halston 1-12.

Rochas Man is my favorite, hands down. This is AMAZING! I really wish I would've tried it sooner! The only negative is the projection, but it's pretty affordable, so a few extra sprays won't hurt.

If you're like me and avoiding the classics, if there's one you should buy, it's this one. This belongs on every collector's shelf.

Nicole2878

I am truly enjoying this one. It is masculine, but in a delicate way. I can't stop sniffing myself. Initial blast of light lavender, raspberry and spice then it dries to a creamy cappuccino..love this!

Wing

Absolutely worth the money and blind buy worthy It's one of my most complimented fragrances.
For the price the longevity and the projection are fantastic
You will definitely get attention with this one even tho its a pretty popular scent and old scent.

chinna

IT is a classic, sweet scent. An original creation finally !! Smell like formality. I liked it. I can percieve a amber raspberry sweetness top that becomes more creamy with middle notes. I don't smell a total gourmand, it have man perfume notes between like lavender .Mostly this have a Pi Givenchy style . Warming.
In dry down come out more that masculine woody and clean lavender.

Asaph

The opening smells like an exotic biscuit coated with chocolate, the dry down smells cappuccino

Csabesz

I bought it as it was told to be a very good gourmand
coffee fragrance. That coffee is actually cappuccino, as the main note is sweeter and has a kind of balsamic side note, it reminds me of the lactose free milk. Besides of that it is very very sweet, almost like a cotton candy on the beach. I can smell bergamot, some floral notes, and patchouli, later will lavender be recognizable. Strange, that is in spite of being really sweet, its still a masculine one. Its really cheap so you cant expect an outstanding quality - you will get a pretty good, but synthetic fragrance for its price. However its totally worth it in my opinion. I cant imagine this as a night time fragrance, but more a daytime - for metrosexual edgy guys. This is a perfect choice for a lunch or dinner because its a very cozy pleasant scent. It was a blind buy for me, if you like softer sweeter generic good-guy scents, you want a parfume which wont offend anyone, neither will get you too many compliment its a great choice. If you meet people who are not into fragrances too much - perfect choice!

Johnay

Maybe a new one isn't a beast mode fragrance in terms of performance but it lasts at least 6 hours with 3 sprays on my neck. I think it lasts even longer as a skin scent.

Lovely, sexy soft scent. Better than La Nuit for dating purposes in my opinion.

ivaylops

I think most people are submitting comments based on the original version. The current one smells very different and doesn't last as long. I wouldn't re-purchase it unless I can find the OG one, which will be pretty hard as I don't know when exactly the juice changed so much.

Chesco

The 2nd cologne i bought as a kid right after highschool.

Okay, this is NOT a butt-plug, the bottle design is so you can turn it upside down and the cap becomes a base holder for the bottle! lol Most people dont know that and took me 5 years to find that out by accident.

2020 batch still surprisingly good after 20 years! Lighter, not as rich as the 1st batch, bottle slightly smaller. On release this was a very innovative smell, and was my choice of all the colognes to buy in year 2000 next to the masterpiece 'Lui' Armani Emporio (before that got reformulated to dirt water). I always felt this was the scent of the year 1998-2000 metro-sexual, and still does 20 years later.

Doesn't smell that good on clothes, smells fantastic on skin! Bizarre... :S

I paid $85CND back in 2000 (money is worth 2.5 times more today, so i pretty much paid $200CND on release!). For the low price of $30 today its a fucking steal!!
But, ive come to the decision that this dna is fucking DEAD, because it's the living embodiment of late 1990's metro-sexual vibe that was the clothing & clubbing vibe back then, which today is lame af.
Seductive-sexy playboy frag for it's time, but this is definitely a dna that the world has moved on from.
It's unwearable any location today for me, and even tho i have a youth connection with it, im still selling by bottle as i know 100% i'll never wear this again. That alone should tell you something from a once upon a time fan. But here's the funny thing, today i'd LOVE to smell this on a sexy girl! So men stay away, ladies a great sexy alluring cheapie that's worth the money.

3.5/5 Woofs!

Celestya

I really like this parfume for my husband. It is a mix of coffee, lavender, spices and vanilla. Very sexy, it is perfect for fall and winter, too much for spring and summer. The sillage and the longevity are good, can be for day or night (very sexy for night club). Be careful for the office, not more than 2 sprays... It is warm, comforting, sexy in the same time.

eaudemale

Very sweet gourmand masculine scent. This is an amazing work on a fragrance that could smell feminine but it doesn't. The initial blast is warm cappuccino with sweet raspberry and a lavender note that takes this gourmet mix from being a desert. As the minutes go by, a very strong cedar note comes up and remains through the rest of the fragrance development with some added patchouli sharpness.
Young, long lasting, semi-lineal, club friendly and classic designer offer. Doesn't feel like an old perfume. 8.5/10

Gourmand Fougere (Maurice Roucel, 1999)

Scentrack: The Rhye - Fall

During my college, I used to wear Rochas Man. Relaxed, fun and cheerful like my college days, Rochas was so appropriate. After ten years I bought it again, and I recall it being more powdery and dirtier. The current version seems cleaned up, but still possessing that naive charm.
Rochas is still a wonderful example of gourmand fougere, patented by great perfumer Maurice Roucel. Like a proper fougere, Rochas Man starts with clean, but soft lavender note, later found in Roucel’s Hypnose Homme. Apparently, reformulation took away the fizzy top note of bergamot. The lavender is followed by amazingly complement mocha coffee note. What a perfect blend. A beautiful chimera of fougere lavender and gourmand notes of coffee and cotton candy, replayed in Bond No. 9 New Haarlem. After these main notes, I do sense a subtle fruity note raspberry and pink lily of the valley note. There is also some cedar, like a backbone leading to wonderful base consisted of affable vanilla and dark amber. Unfortunately the performance of this fragrance are questionable, but I still prefer over more expensive New Haarlem. Sweet, magnetic, attractive, fragile and celestial. A perfectly intimate and introverted fragrance. Rochas always made brave, yet somehow commercially unsuccessful fragrances. I always have been weak on commercial losers, like I always preferred Wile E. Coyote over the Road Runner.

Ionut82

My first perfume review on Fragrantica. And with which other if not with Rochas man, my first "more designer" perfume, so to speak.
It is a slightly gourmet perfume, versatile but also elegant. The notes of cappuccino and lavender dominate his entire stay on the skin. Occasionally there is a hint of vanilla, and no mention of the raspberry note, at least from my point of view.
Persistence and projection is moderate. I mention the fact that the perfume I have in my collection dates back to 2010.

Annemarie

Sweet, charming, relaxed, subtle. A great fragrance for men and women who just want to smell good. They are not trying to impress anyone, just pleasing themselves. Anyone who adopts Rochas Man as a signature sees no reason to fork out hundreds for the latest over-hyped niche thing. That's a very chic decision.

On the longevity issue, Rochas Man lasts all day on me with a couple of small sprays. As others have said, you might lose the scent yourself but others will still smell it on you. (I find Bvlgari Black behaves that way too.) Try adding a spritz to a scarf if you want to prolong it.

And - that little scimitar on the flap of the box - hilarious! Has no-one noticed it? It pops up briefly in the video ad too.

alfrued

This is a masterpiece
I wish it comes stronger, it smells better & more refined than V or DuPont intense.

singhdivjot

If you are looking for sweet and gourmand perfume, this is good scent with good longevity and medium projection.
Not a superstar but overall pleasing scent.
It is somewhat synthetic in the opening though.

TrustJohnny

Not very versatile, very sweet. As a scent its somewhat pleasing, legit smells like a pancake breakfast, but that's not something I'd want to smell like at all. Smells pretty outdated, like an old man pretending to be young.

Scent: 6.7/10 Again, pancakes, mmmmmmmmmmm.....
Performance: 8.2/10 Lasts a long time, projects moderately.
Overall: Nah, this ain't it chief.

marcel2782

Delicious top chord of sugary and sparkling lemonade. On drying, it assumes a vanilla coffee aspect - somewhat artificial, but good. From the base notes you can only feel patchouli and only if you bury your nose in your arm. I liked the smells I capture here, but not the result, that is: very creative fragrance, but well out of the curve this combination of fresh citrus top with comfortable sweet heart ... too controversial ... and everything that is controversial has reduced versatility. However, it seems to me to that this type of perfume should and probably is extremely attractive to the noses of others, even if it is not to the nose of an eventually more demanding user. Apparently satisfactory performance.

Oleo

Rochas Man is a classic that has been pleasing people for twenty years. This is a fact that transcends any opinion or doubt.

Indeed, it's a creation ahead of its time, which has originated a whole new genre of fragrances - I can easily list now, without thinking, more than twenty "inspired by Rochas Man" fragrances -.

But... How has Rochas Man aged over time? How is it right now, compared with the current scene of releases?

Well... Rochas Man remains an attractive, gentle and pleasant fragrance. It isn't dated, and retains a different spirit from the new "gourmands" that have taken so much of it. In fact, Rochas Man is a "fougere with gourmand nuances", and not what is now sold as a typical "gourmand" fragrance.

So Rochas Man is refined, classy, soft, modern, urban... Fresh and warm, romantic and professional... It's something unique, really. Just keep in mind that this fragrance fits better with the typical metrosexual man, rather than with a untidy and wild troll.

- Longevity: 7- 8h +/-.

- Projection: Moderate.

- Mood: Suitable for any time, but perfect on cold days: It is warm and comforting... And seductive, definitely.

- Scenario & Occasions: Always. For dates, office, leisure time... You can wear it all year round; just avoid very hot days.

- Conclusion: A great scent. Not a work of art, but a masterpiece in the designers game.

Coffee King

I keep a bottle close to hand for sake of nostalgia. I remember when I first tried it I loved it, it's true the new formulation isn't a patch on the original, but it's still pleasant to wear, and people genuinely compliment it. It's sweet, but not cloying, coffee, lavender and vanilla, although nowadays the lavender is more prominent.

I personally preferred Givenchy Pi, and that has faired better over the years, but this is still a good fragrance, and worth the low price it can be picked up for. Rochas isn't the same as it used to be, but no brand is. If you can pick up a vintage, it's worth paying the extra.

Filosykos

This is for the new formulation by interparfums. Ok i've been using the new stuff for over a year now. It seems so strong at first but after 40 minutes it's barely there. BUT it seems to project because people around me ask what im wearing and i had a few comments that it's too strong even though i cant really smell it on me. Really weird and i can't explain it.

and_then_some_7

Scroll down a little and read @007peter, @Bigsly and @jared.a.nebel's reviews. They are spot-on. I bought this RECENT FORMULATION (2018) from a reputable seller, so I know it's not a fake. It doesn't smell good at all (almost like a stale powdery scent and MAYBE some raspberry buried deep in there). The scent disappears quickly (thankfully) into NOTHING. To say this was a disappointment and a waste of money would be an understatement. Maybe I got a bad bottle, but after reading the aforementioned reviews, I think otherwise.

★★★★★

Despite being a 90s scent, this is a contemporary masterpiece.

Fairly simple, synthetic lavender that cuts through a coffee note that was constructed by vanilla and sandalwood. The sandalwood is the reason that Rochas Man has a creamy cappuccino nuance, but it really separates itself from the majority of gourmand coffee creations available (both niche and designer) because this beauty is really an aromatic fougère in disguise.

The floral notes are its trick, providing a romantic depth to the whole composition, even in their synthetic form.

Charming, effortless, modern classic.

All year round pleasure, an iconic scent in an iconic bottle.

weegee

THIS is the fragrance that convinced me that great smells have no gender and ignited my love for coffee as a dominant fragrance note.

When people wear Rochas Man they smell warm, friendly and approachable, confident in themselves and delightfully sweet. I can't imagine anyone wearing Rochas Man to be mean or argumentative.

I've had my bottle for nearly 10 years so I imagine it might be different from more recent batches but I find it remarkable both in longevity and coffee-authenticity. While vanilla nicely sweetens the mix and patchouli gives it a tasty dark & chewy aspect, I now find the fruit and lavender notes all somewhat diminish the coffee note that first got my attention. I still do reach for it occasionally in cool & cold weather but there's another fragrance it lead me to that I now much prefer.

Given comments about releases/batches more recent than mine I'd steer those seeking something similar/more coffee authentic to Ganache Parfum's One Legged Joe, a marvelous recreation of coffee served with pancakes soaked with maple syrup & served with a side of crispy bacon, my very favorite coffee fragrance (yes, exceeding Mugler's Pure Coffee).

kmommom

I just bought this as a blind buy and man oh man, the fragrance is unlike any other I have used to date. It is sweet, vibrant and most importantly, coffee-ish which could be perfect for a cold wintery night.

ses101

The coffee-vanilla-lavender combination is very sweet and comes through almost like chocolate pineapple at times. A whiff here and there is nice, but I wouldn't want to wear it regularly - it's quite similar to a few other edt's mentioned here and the whole ultra-sweet thing is a bit boring to me.

strut

Yep it’s true, it’s no where near to what it used to be. I clearly remember how guys smelled of Rochas in the 2000s. It was dense warm sweet round sent with decent silage. The coffee was very prominent and overall it was bordering vulgar but I liked it. Never bought it because it was way too popular. Now it’s different.

adriano98

Beautiful scent! I was kind of skeptical about picking this one up because I don’t like lavender intensive scents. This one though is shadowed and combined with some of my favorite notes. When first sprayed you definitely get a lot of lavender I don’t notice any bergamot at all. As it dries you start getting that cappuccino note that’s milky, sweet, and addicting. Doesn’t smell like coffee at all but I don’t mind it cause an actual cappuccino doesn’t smell like intense coffee either. I get just a hint of raspberry. All the while I get a very warm, delighting amber& vanilla combo. At about 2 or 3 hours you’re left with a creamy, smooth, warm scent of amber, vanilla, sandalwood a hint of bite most likely the cedar.
Scent- 9.5
Sillage- 8 the scent cloud is moderate throughout approximately 4 hours or 3.5 of its 8 hour life.
Projection- 8 initial blast is intense but quickly settles into moderate projection for 4 hours.
Longevity- 8.5 lasts well for about 8 hours the last few 3 or so hours are a skin scent.
Overall- 9 recommend if you’re into gourmands or orientals.

Bigsly

To the reviewer below this one, I agree, in that a newer formulation I tried was not wearable. But then you get people who say there is no such thing as a reformulation, and that your nose is broken. So, what is one to do? The "vintage" of this is as good as New Haarlem, though NH is a bit more unisex and has a strong "pancake syrup" quality, unlike RM. Why do a few of us pay more for vintage? For this very reason. Buying new RM is like buying a lousy super-cheapo to some of us, whereas buying vintage RM is like buying a variation on NH. You wouldn't pay the same amount for a house that has papier-mache walls as opposed to one that is built properly! No reason to do that with fragrances.

Disappointed by Hype Train
********************************
I agree with everything user (jared.a.nebel) said below. His experience mirror my own experience. To me, a true GOURMAND should be strong & sweet. Good example of a gourmand are Bond #9 New Harlem, Ferragamo Uomo, Armani Code Profumo, or the uber sweet PB 1 Million Lucky.

Rochas ♂ is NOT SWEET, ruin by fresh lavender
Rochas ♂ COFFEE is missing, can't barely smell it
Rochas ♂ RASPBERRY is also missing

This fragrance is very Weak & Diluted by 2019 standard. I can see why a 70yrs old grandpa whine about how sweet Rochas Man is, but from today's point of view, it is SO WEAK it is NOT a gourmand. Don't believe the HYPE, and don't listen to anyone older 40yrs old.

***************************************************************
Horrible Performance, worse than $8 Walmart cologne
***************************************************************
• 20~30min Projection
• 45min = collapsed into skin scent
• 1hr = almost gone
• 2hr = completely disappeared

I have a $8 Playboy VIP from walmart that outperform it in smell, projection, and longevity. Before someone say its my skin, here is how long other gourmadn last on me:

• Armani Code Profumo (12+ hrs) sweet vanilla coca-cola
• PB 1 Million Lucky (8+ hrs) sweet peach pecan pie
• PB 1 Million Prive (7+ hrs) sweet pumkin pie
• Ferragamo Uomo (8+ hrs) tiramitsu in a bottle

I think Rochas Man is just over-hype by old man who grew up in the era of Cool Water and Polo Green. To them, anything sweet is consider feminine or clubby. But in 2019, out standard & tasted has gone sweeter in mens' fragrances. Rochas Man is not even competitive, easily beaten out by any $8 Walmart cologne.

wbissar

this is s very nice frag. very energizing and satisfying.

it's one of these frags that would make people wanna eat u, can't complain about that :)

definitely worth buying, and for this price u can't go wrong...

vitolezio

This one smells really nice, however doesnt last long. I Sprayed about 4 times and after half hour was gone.
For the price cant complain
But I wouldnt be bother to use very often

jared.a.nebel

I have been meaning to pick this one up for awhile and finally saw a nice deal on it, however nothing really spectacular about this fragrance from the opening, mid and finally to the base with all the notes listed.

To me it smells synthetic and cheap, I don't know where folks are getting this gourmand, coffee scent as well as a hint of raspberry, maybe I have defected juice. I have been testing this scent out all week and still not falling in love with it. It kinda reminds my nose of Insurrection by Reyane Tradition, however Insurrection smells better that Rochas Man (imo of course). I will keep exploring this fragrance and may check to see another bottle smells the same.

I would not blind buy this and will update my post if there is any change. Everyone is a critic ;)

Update - I can finally get a scent of what people are talking about, but its very faint. Again, if you like this type of scent, look also into Insurrection & Perry Ellis M, it kind of gives of that same vibe.

Anyways, when I think gourmand fragrances, I think of designer frags like 'Stronger with You EDT & EDP, Spicebomb Extreme and Armani Profumo
And when it comes to niche frags, where do I start, PDM Pegasus & Montale Intense Cafe, just to name a couple. This frag is no where near that level.

Rochas Man is inexpensive, but I couldn't see myself wearing this as a signature scent with so many other options out there.

intuit

Nice dumb reach daytime gourmand. Coffee, lavender and raspberry are definitely there and make you feel energized. It's a light scent that's totally safe in most situations. Doesn't last long, though.

cayZ

The best cheapest gourmand fragrance in the world!

duyprosf

Smells like the 90s. Can I identify the aroma of those coffees and chocolate. Not a cup of coffee or hot chocolate tho.

This could certainly be the 90s version of LIDGE.

Full bottle worthy: no.

Gourmands - UK

With Rochas man it’s the fragrance that will start you on gourmands before you go on to the big shots like Thierry muglers and the niche market.
Honestly it is the only designer fragrance that will begin your gourmand journey, it’s value for money and it will start your fragrance portfolio here. Why I’m so adamant about this, okay, firstly it is absolutely opposite Aqua di Gio 1996, ADG essenza and your Paco Robbane Million. This is the opposite and that’s a GOOD thing because a fragrance is about your identity and not to follow the crowd and its marketing. Buy a fragrance that will begin your journey, be a leader not a follower. So will Rochas man deliver the gourmand fragrance journey from 1999.
Yes, how
First spray: coffee very faint, sweet and vanilla (here it smells like the top aroma of a cappuccino, then next half hour it settles and its less sweet because of the coffee note then it gradually goes on to becoming a fragrance then can be a definite Signature scent without bothering anybody and on close counters people will ask what is that and mostly the ladies. Because it holds at the base as vanilla (girls love that) and patchouli to balance the fragrance and sandalwood (this what makes it manly).

Compliments you will get on close encounters, I would say this is for dates as it would be mysterious and person will want to get close to you to work it out, im glad its NOT animalic because this fragrance will give the feeling of being calm and at the same time smelling good.
I hope this has helped and if you want to start on gourmands and keep away from ADG and paco robbane start here, and if your age is 18, 25, and up to 40 Perfect, then at that point grow your gourmand portfolio with the more expensive fragrances, Salvatore fergamo then go and collect Thierry mugler to build your portfolio.
And trust me avoid Michael Jordan Legend it’s a cologne it will not last, this is an EDT it will last up to 4-6 hours.

GodKing

An excellent inexpensive gourmand fragrance; initially a LIKE, but now a LOVE!

I acquired Rochase Man years ago and, although I liked it, this scent genre wasn't really my cup of tea or, in this case, a sweetly sweetened with sugar and sweetness, cup of coffee. It was hard for me to rate this one since I was not a fan of this type of sweet gourmand fragrance, but it reminded me of a 'Thallium-like' coffee scent for lack of a better term.

Fortunately, my daughters loved this juice and swiped some from time-to-time (anything to keep 'em away from my Creed Millesimes, I suppose). Also, the ladies seemed to like this stuff almost as much as men love the smell of Aventus. I would apply a few sprays (like catnip for women) and the ladies really enjoyed it. Go figure! Anyway, it was an immediate like since it's hard to dislike it when the women in my life enjoy it so much...even if it's not something that quite fits my style.

Anyway, I've upgraded my like to love because my daughters (and all the ladies who get a whiff of this one) loves this fragrance and my youngest daughter wears it weekly. I've decided this coffee/cappuccino scent is quite nice and compares favorably to much more expensive perfumes. Well-done!

Hey everyone! Rochas Man! I picked this fragrance up over a year ago now. And, I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly. First off, let’s talk about the smell. Rochas opens up with lavender, raspberries, and a coffee note. The coffee note sticks through the entirety of the fragrance. As the coffee and raspberries calm down you begin to detect the vanilla. This is a wonderful balance. It doesn’t change much after this and continues to be a coffee & vanilla combo. I bought this one simply based on the notes and I am not disappointed. It’s extremely cheap too. I paid $23 for mine (it was a tester with a cap). A female friend of mine saw this one on the shelf and immediately asked me “What is that?”. So, I sprayed this on and she was immediately impressed and said that this is one of the best fragrances she’d ever smelled. She’s in her early twenties too. It goes to show that this scent still works. It’s unique and contemporary right now. I love gourmand fragrances with a fresh accord and this is one of the fragrances that led me on the path to Layton. This one is different than Layton as it substitutes spices for a coffee note and the coffee note is going to do it for most people. Very likeable. It has a zing to it that other fragrances in the $20-25 range wish they could have. I’ve bought a lot of bottles of sub twenty-dollar fragrances too and I believe this is the best out of them. It isn’t something I wear a lot, but when I do, I enjoy it. Rochas isn’t going to wow you with its quality. But it’s better than most fragrances in this price range. You could probably overspray this one and still not give anyone headaches. Keep in mind it could happen though due to the fact the quality here isn’t outstanding.
The performance of Rochas man is where it is going to suffer some here. Yes, it smells good and it’s fresh while still remaining sweet, but it’s not going to last you longer than 4 hours. It won’t be too detectable after a couple. This one lasting past 6 hours is going to be a stretch. The longevity being a bit lower may not be a bad thing though. For example, you could probably spray one spray of this and go to fragrance free area and no one would complain. Although this fragrance doesn’t smell exactly like Montblanc Individuel, it still shares some characteristics. First, they both have the raspberry note. But, beyond that they both have a massive appeal that doesn’t draw a lot of attention. Although Rochas is unique, you probably won’t get crazy reactions. This can also be a good thing depending on where you’re going or what you’re doing. Think soap. It’s not unpleasant, but you aren’t throwing compliments at someone because he or she washed their hands recently.
For the price, you might as well pick this one up and wear it when you want something that is sweet and unique. It has the anti-cologne vibe about it. If you’ve been wanting to find a cheap fragrance that doesn’t have a cologne vibe to it, then this is the one. I find it interesting that this one will be pleasant to others, but more on a subconscious level. Either way, this scent is fantastic for the price / uniqueness ratio. However, price / performance ratio is average here. Don’t expect wonders. But, if you are not too into scents and want something more subtle yet unique, then you’ve found what you’re looking for.

Lastly, if you're a female, you could definitely pull this one off. It's unisex in my opinion, even though it has "Man" in the title.

I can say this one is a big surprise. I sampled it in the store and didn't think much . half hour after leaving the store the scent began to smell just addictive! The coffee and the vanilla just blended beautifully ! And I just had to have it. It is one of the most sophisticated coffee dominated scents ever. Not to mention the great longevity 8hours and silage! really nice bottle which goes great with the scent!
I would put this in my top 10 of all time ! massive compliment getter!

Great fragrance but lake projection fades very fast
Although longevity is not bad at all.
No one can smell you. Disappointed that such a beauty but useless complement getting
I wish they can fix this and reproduce it to the market.
I assume it would have been something in the community fragrance.

Albertos

Beautiful, and timeless fragrance in a beautiful unique bottle, the smell can be unisex, Italian coffee. wow ... this is good. I would recommend. 10 LOVE THIS SCENT.

Allen Newt

I love this classic fragrance. It reminds me of a citrus based candy. I have two 100ml bottles that I will probably have for the rest of my life.

alfrued

A multipurpose fragrance
The juice is for men & the bottle is for women.

DarlingNikki

Okay, so apparently I'm one of those weird women who don't like this fragrance, LOL. Honestly, I love the sweetness of it, but the lavender makes me gag. I don't know why, but I can't take the scent of lavender in perfume/colognes, but I can handle it in candles and laundry products. Something about it is just too pungent smelling in personal care products and it certainly mucks this scent up to my nose. Without it, this would be stunning and totally wearable as a woman (not that a woman who loves aromatic fragrance couldn't wear this as I can see it being unisex).

majcarlstewart

Pretty good juice. Moderately lasting coffee and lavender frag. Scent 7.8, silage 7, longevity 7. Blind buy worthy? Yes

Hovenchy

this smells very good i’m getting a coffee-ish vibe from it but idk if i smell actual coffee i get the lavender at the start but then i get something else in the middle but i definitely get a sweet vanilla in the end. this fragrance is somewhat gourmand but it’s not a strong gourmand it doesn’t annoy you. the performance isn’t very good i would make sure your skin is moisturized so it will last longer and spray it on clothes

Survival

Powdery, coffee like, vanilla, ambery, lavender gourmand goodness that is so versatile. This one has been in my arsenal for a decade and such an easy wear. It's a great compliment getter and you'll spot ANYONE in a crowd wearing this one. I've walked up to someone before and said "you wearing Rochas Man?" and they answer either "of course!" or "my wife loves this one" or "I don't know what it's called but the bottle looks like an adult toy". For the low price get you some, it's blind buy worthy and an easy reach for when you just don't know what to wear. Word of warning to wear this one lightly in hot weather, you can choke yourself out with it.

Raees Saint

The quality of this scent is remarkable! It lasts a long as anything else in this class. Beatiful sweet cashmere luxury.

Bigsly

I think of this one as the designer version of New Haarlem so it's an excellent deal if that's what you want, considering the prices (though it's a touch more "masculine"). I have at least two bottles, one that is apparently from 2011 (batch 1263) and has that clear liquid with a very slight pink tint, and one from 2010 that has more of that brownish color. I have yet to compare the two side by side by my sense is that the 2010 is smoother/less harsh. The batch code is 0273 (brown liquid) so if the batch checker sites are wrong about that please let me know, but it would seem to be older because is has oakmoss listed under the ingredients on the box, whereas batch 1263 does not (nor tree moss, which neither have listed). Definitely an excellent buy if you want a lavender/gourmand fragrance, and it should work for women who enjoy lavender notes!

thatsmr2usir

Rochas Man is a very nice fragrance with a mocha, vanilla raspberry & lavender accord. I do not get any coffee but I do get the other notes I listed. It is very nice for a designer fragrance & especially nice if you are a gourmand fanatic like me! Projection is not the best, & longevity is about average so be prepared to expect that if you are purchasing this. It is done nicely & one cannot deny that the price for this is GREAT! My suggestion buy it all up before it becomes discontinued & prices sky rocket!

While this is nice, there are much better offerings in the frag community especially if one is looking for a coffee frag.

Tigidy101

Rich, yummy cappuccino opening that dries down to a comforting, nice vanilla and lavender combo. Killer fragrance for how little it costs. Bottle is love it or hate it but no one can say it's not unique and you'll never mistake it for any other fragrance.

HARDSTYLE916

I don't really get the coffee note here. Opens up with heavy lavender then dries down to sweet vanilla. Performance is average only.

teebar40

Soft gourmand fragrance. I like it, not a love. Performance is poor, and keeps me from loving this one. If your really not a gourmand fan, but would like to try something light this is it.

Saeid Scent

Very soft.very simple.very designish style.I feel quality is not as good as many designers.slight sweetness with a twist of coffee note.
Have a bottle.not using it.if you gonna buy some frags try it for yourself,if you liked that, then buy it and don't pay attention to others review.you can always find many many positive reviews below any fragrances in Fragrantica.Don't get me wrong.those reviews are their writers experience wich is something almost personal.
Other problem is that the new batch No/codes of this and other simillar products that can not be found anywhere.Seems many discontinued products turned back to production in some companies in India,China and Middle-East But parent company doesn't react to such things and doesn't accept this fact.such companies are producting discontinued ones under main parent companies license without any quality control and with unknown batch codes.many of their products are watered down copy of the vintage ones.Rochas Man is one of them.Escada Sentiment Pour Homme,Halston Z-14,Halston Z1-12,Banana Republic Black walnut,Smith & Wesson and many other discontinued ones.So be careful.Inter Parfums and IFF are among the worst of them.

I love the scent. Highly addictive. This is a blind buy and no regrets. Coffee in a bottle and lavender cuts through and tames the sweetness a little bit in a nice way.
Only issue with interparfums version is the performance. 3-4 hrs max. But at its price I spray after 4hrs. Good buy

TrephineArtist

I tried this again today and scored myself a sample. Looking at the notes I just wouldn't think they'd work together but they do!

I'm not so keen on the opening (not really sure what it is though) but once it settles a bit rather than coffee I smell vanilla and cream. Perhaps a sweetened vanilla scented 'creme chantilly' that has been squirted onto a very mild capuccino or a café Liegeois. Sometimes I get a vague raspberry note too as well as the kind of scent you get in a patisserie in France.

Tasty but not cloying. Encore, s'il vous plait.

I just love the smell of this perfume. After spraying it on hand you can sniff transformation of that gorgeous smell from the beginning. Bottle also looks cool.

Hi. Can a woman wear this perfume,or it s too masculine?

mktexan

Ultimate male gourmand! The lavender smooths out the rough edges of the cappuccino/vanilla. Projection isn't overwhelming but that helps make this an office fragrance for a bold/confident man. May need to reapply during a day but that's what small decants are for! Price makes it a must have for a fan of gourmand. Amazing, layered, creamy, delicious scent!

elGonzo

Please Fragrantica editors, add the Intense version of this!! Thanks

Ray The Juiceman

On me this stuff isn’t just good.. It’s great. Creamy vanilla, kinda floral/powdery but not so much bees attack my diaper. A good balance. Dry down is mellow and smooth. Sweet but not syup. Can’t really knock it at all. CK Eternity Now reminds me of it but I like Rochas dry down better. No one ever knows what it is.. and that’s what I want.
