Stash SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for women and men. Stash SJP was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is IFF. Top notes are Black Pepper, Sage and Grapefruit; middle notes are Atlas Cedar, Patchouli, Pistachio and White Ginger Lily; base notes are Massoia Wood, Olibanum, Vetiver and Musk.

Sarah Jessica Parker announces her new fragrance Stash SJP, which comes out in the fall of 2016, as more edgy and very different from the previous scents of her collection. She calls it the naughty, subversive sibling of her most popular fragrance Lovely (wwd). Announced as sexy and raw, Stash SJP is an aromatic-woody composition suitable for both women and men.

As inspiration for this fragrance, Sarah noted body odors, church, leather and a few masculine perfumes that she wore that would include notes of incense and vetiver. Stash SJP begins with notes of fresh grapefruit, black pepper and aromatic sage. Its heart notes include Atlas cedar, patchouli, ginger lily and pistachios, laid on the warm woody base of olibanum, massoia wood, vetiver and musk. The composition is developed in collaboration with perfumers from IFF.

The fragrance is advertises with hashtag #ComeandFindIt. The bottle is inspired by old pharmacy bottles, with rum colored liquid and black details.

It is available as a 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum ($50, $75 and $85) with mini rollerball and oil elixir for body and hair.

Sprayed it on card and it smelled exactly like my most detested fragrance of all time, Santal 33, goddammit it I hate that scent and couldn't believe I'd accidentally bought 30ml of a dupe thereof. BUT, on skin, thank christ, it's not that. It's got a sandlewood vibe but is more subtle and fresh, light. It kind of smells like it could be a Guerlain Homme flanker. Very nice!

SoleilE

I bought this (Stash) because of all the hype and to satiate my curiosity. I have a fair sized collection if you count perfume, Body Sprays, oils etC. easily over 200 Bottles. I do like this perfume however it is not sweet or gourmand or feminine at all to my nose. I will wear this when I am home alone because I enjoy fragrances that are interesting and different. I do not think I would repurchase this when I run out of my 1.7 oz bottle. If you need a compliment getter this is not it. If you want things that REALLY smell GREAT this is not that. If you want Something different that doesn't smell like anything else you have and is interesting this may work for you but to my nose this would make a much better fragrance for a man. I do enjoy it but I do not understand the hype coming from women. Very masculine fragrance.

yukinohana

Oh god i hate this perfume. i tried to like it, I wanted to try a cosy woody smell, and I really enjoyed the Prive version of SJP but this is a nonono. It smells like bad whiskey to me from start to finish and it´s so nauseating that it´s going to the trash unfortunately.

TarantuLady

So, yeah…this is insanely powerful & eternal in its longevity. Wow. It’s definitely masculine leaning, imo. I ended up having to layer it to make it even possibly wearable for me. I used Vanillary from Lush which definitely moderated it, made it more likable, wearable, feminine…or at least much more unisex. I’m sure I’ll end up experimenting with other layering options to try to find the best way I can to wear it. I’ll try Vanilla 28 next, or Lush’s Lord of Misrule.

RobertJames

This opens really nice and is enjoyable for the first hour. After that it becomes almost annoying as it’s surprisingly too strong and very linear. Still detectable on skin 24 hours later, even after a shower. Stays on clothes for a week. I’m not one to complain about performance being too good, but this eventually becomes a scrubber. Even when I spray something over top, it still manages to fight its way through. This leans quite masculine and I don’t think many guys would want to smell this on their girl. Will recommend a pass on Stash

FavourO

I absolutely love this perfume! It is woody, aromatic and slightly green. It's unisex but I see how it can lean more masculine, with that being said I think its a bold choice for a woman to wear. It's a pity when good perfumes get discontinued.

Comparing this to Billie Eilish No2: They are similar in the sense of being woody, green and aromatic but Billie Eilish No2 is sweeter & lighter than Stash because of the vanilla & apple blossom in it. In terms of lasting power I find that Stash performs better.

logankyle

Was really excited to try this after seeing so many positive reviews but was unfortunately disappointed. I personally do not believe this is a unisex scent. Similar to Tom Ford Black Orchid

Puuteri

Yes I like the smell. For a while. But this is completely linear and too powerful. It gets stronger and stronger during the day and I feel totally helpless. I am doomed to lose.

Supersmelle

Is this a pleasant scent? Sure. Is this something I will reach for? Probably not. Why? I think the top and mid notes dissipate way too quickly and we are left with vetiver and woods. The opening is engaging but, really as a whole experience, not a wow.
I am glad to have it in my cabinet. But, it is just ok.

AlliCat1215

It's really nice, woody, unisex, great for winter. That's not really my preferred scent profile so I sold mine. I do find it very similar to Ebene Fume/Eilish 2. I don't think it's similar to Santal 33.

brandiwine1980

I’m really surprised that no one else has mentioned a pickle note. I pick up pickle in the beginning of Decadence, but in this one, it’s there the whole time. The sillage and longevity are strong, I sprayed one spray and could still smell it days later on my sweatshirt. If that pickle smell wasn’t there, it would’ve been a keeper. I’m returning it.

Nesne

I CANT believe this is a celebrity fragrance. Absolute top tier and I would definitely say it’s in the higher niche category of sandalwood fragrances. This is sweet, sticky, smokey, boozy. In the opening it’s very boozy and woody but then it turns into a warm and cozy scent. Absolute unisex but it might lean more masculine, which I don’t mind personally. This projects like crazy but it’s not a mass pleasing perfume, which is good because we don’t want it selling out. If you want to smell rich then you should definitely try this. Also gentlemen!!! If you want your wife to be all over you: use this perfume!

I’m not much of a perfume layering person but I tried layering this with Z&V this is her (original formulation) and it smells divine!

YourWan

Opens with a very distinctive amber'y spicy wood... This smells very like the bottle looks.... Its characterised by the massoia wood... Only problem with it is it doesn't change much over the course of the day if that's important to you... With a good spray it lasts all day 7/8+ hours.... Where this stands out is that it stands out... Of all the scents I own and have tested I haven't come across anything quite like this... Its doing its own ambery, spicy, massoia thing... A steal if you can get at the original price which i did but not sure I'd wear this 2 days in a row if you know what I mean... Well done Sarah... Solid offering...

CallistoLuna

Great fragrance. Best suited to cooler weather and nights, although it can work as a daytime fragrance. It's quite a rich fragrance and you will get whiffs of it for hours. I get a very dry woody scent, with slightly boozy notes. Its one of my more masculine leaning fragrances and I love wearing it, but wear it sparingly.

Parfumadict.

What an elegant and masculine fragrance! I never imagined getting a fragrance from a tv show lady or whatever this Sara does.
The opening is wonderful, a bit dark but lemony tart at the same time. The drydown is on the earthy side from the patchouli with a woody milky nuance and the vetiver.
I can't really say much about the pistachio as I'm not familiar with how it smells like in perfumery.

Not for the younger crowd though.

dustkiller

an amazing blind buy for me, immediately love this so much and mad i only bought a 30ml

'woody root beer without the sweetness' is very accurate to me

KimberMoon

This is my favorite type of scent. It's very snuggly, and there's no screechy or off-putting florals. It reminds me of E&J Nirvana Black so much. EJNB might be a touch sweeter and a touch less earthy. They are definitely in the same wheelhouse. Both are fabulous, discontinued fragrances. Stash is not a cheap junk celebrity scent. I think this is the best SJP fragrance, hands down. And as far as celebrity scents go, it is definitely one of the best. I'm not really even an SJP fan, but this is good juice.

Tamijami79

This one is a combination of Aesop Tacit and TF velvet orchide. If you like those to, you will love Stash.

daioujou

This one surprised me. Ordered a bottle recently, and the first few sprays I could smell an overwhelming coconut scent/nutty scent. However, when I resprayed it earlier today, that nutty scent had toned down a lot and everything seems more balanced now. Now its a really comforting creamy scent which opens up spicy but slightly nutty, which tones down into a super comfy wood. I really like it. Perfect for a cozy autumn or winter night. I will be keeping this one for sure, definitely worth picking it up for the price (£20 for 100ml is a steal for this).

khent.em

It's ok, There is a note that is a little unsettling, I think it is the patchouli, and it's really strong when I put my nose to it. In the air though it's ok. I'm also getting sandalwood (probably the Massoia). Anyway, it's and herbally sharp patchouli sandalwood scent. 30 minutes in and I just want to wash it off. Something here is just nauseating.

Carduccii

It’s giving woody root beer without the sweetness of root beer. It’s so cozy. When I read that it’s not for everyone I thought it’d be borderline offensive but it’s not offensive at all.

confornia_

Just got this today because I was looking for something similar to Tom Ford Santal Blush (the greatest thing i've ever smelled in my life) and with the first spray I was disappointed, I didn't really smell much and thought it smelled outdated and cheap. I waited 10 minutes and I must say, it's excellent, like others have said it smells wealthy and yes, very similar to Santa Blush. I believe this is technically discontinued but I found it from a seller on eBay and bought 2 bottles. Id recommend grabbing this if you see it, I got 100ml for £22 so even if you dont like it it's not much of a loss.

Behram

Not sure if someone else is picking up coconut in this, I like it but can't really care much about it, as mentioned it can become boring. Not worth the hype and the high price tag on it in recent times for it being discontinued.

iris

How can someone not like this? The only danger is that it can become boring, linear, one-dimensional, blunt - I think this is often the case with sandalwood-dominant perfumes.
Stash reminds me of burning Palo Santo. Creamy and smoky, but still with a bit of fresh herbalness from sage a slightly sour grapefruit sprinkled on top, paired with vetiver. There's a lot going on in fact, but discreetly. All in all, it's a woody comforting pillow of a scent, but I like how all these other different notes are measured to give only the necessary sparking accents on top of its creamy surface.

OtherRaylin

Love this one. It never leaves me wanting. The only reason I don't wear it more is because instead of getting compliments I get "I smell tree" 😂 I love it though, could swim in it

Eunibomber

Am I the only person who smells licorice/star anise in the opening? This has become one of my favorites and I find it so versatile by itself or layered with a variety of things from amber/spicy to aromatic/citrus scents. It really is lovely with Dua Brand’s interpretation of Strangelove’s Melt My Heart, “Melt in Love”, and Dua’s version of Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir, “Neroli from Another World”. One of the best (blind) buys ever. It’s such a conforming and sophisticated scent and I find myself reaching for it all the time.

jhodder

Guys, this is definitely unisex, if not masculine. Love the woody, cedar if-not-myrrh note in it and the contrast it brings to all the vanilla, sweet, or ambroxan heavy winter fragrances that are so popular right now. I find myself reaching for it more than my Jo Malone equivalent. Total steal at this price point with strong projection and good longevity. Warm, rich and smooth. Perfect for the colder months.

Magellan0101

Wow! A celebrity frag the DOESN'T smell like candy, a fruit bowl or lemon furniture polish!
This one has an earthy, woody personality and, dare I say it, a bit of an edge to it! It's very unisex, NO candy, NO fruit ( thank God!) AND, while it's woody, it has a soft dry down that doesn't knock out those you work with or just walk by...the dry down smells like really nice incense and can, imo, be worn year round. The price is reasonable and I have zero complaints about it.
To help it last, wear with a sandalwood, musk or patchouli lotion. To girl it up, wear with a tea rose scented lotion. I get all mine from Beyond Scents.com (you can pick your lotion/body butter and they will double scent it for an extra $2...I have a whole wardrobe of them).
I'm SO happy to say that this is NOT a juvenile perfume and I doubt the girls in high school will go for it, since they go for the taffy/strawberry lip gloss perfumes which most of us have long outgrown (see above).
8/10 overall. Already buying a backup bottle. At such a reasonable price point, why not?

In Fragrant Bliss

A dark, nutty, boozy, earthy, woody concoction. Never dreamt a celebrity fragrance (selling discounted at drugstores here in Australia) would sweep me off my feet. The (metaphoric) fall has been hard & humbling to say the least.

And finally, if this were to be released under a "PRIVÉE" or "EXCLUSIFS" badge, niche-heads would be happy with 10x the price being charged for it. Enough said!

Edit to my earlier review: After about 2 hours, Stash blended amazingly well with my body chemistry, much to my surprise. On my skin, it dried down to a light whiff of incense. Not something I expected to like, but I certainly do. A bit alluring so not a scent I would wear at the office, but definitely what I would wear in the evening, without hesitation.

eyesofblue

Bear in mind, I wear Lovely almost daily during the spring and summer. I bought the Stash rollerball as a blind buy to meet the "free shipping" minimum at an online vendor site.

The first time I applied Stash, the initial wave of scent screamed "aftershave!". Without giving it a chance, I rushed to wash it off. Fast forward a couple of months, I decided to try it once more. Letting it dry down this time, and I found a mesmerizing scent drifting from my wrists. The fact it does not dry down to a sweet vanilla base is certainly in its favor. I don't know if it will be worn every day, but it most certainly is a unique change of pace. I hope the SJP company doesn't discontinue this scent.

jdb_

Oh my OG babygirl Stash. I was first captivated by her around her release when I was 23. I knew I was a little young for it then but couldn’t get enough. It’s earthy and sexy and aggressive and seemed leagues above all the other mainstream scents at Ulta. I eventually bought a 10ml roller and ended up taking some risks in life and falling in love around that time so now it’s a must-have forever in my wardrobe reminding me of independence, growth, passion, etc. (the guy is now my husband and we both have such a sweet spot for this scent)

Slightly harsh grapefruit opening then dries down to a unique resiny woodsy scent. Perfectly unisex. Crunchy leaves and grandpa’s old leather chair vibes (ash tray included) and maybe grandad burned incenses. I think it can work in warmer weather though most agree it’s a fall/winter frag. I like it on dry warm nights too because it’s shines in the heat like a summer bonfire. Mixes with sweaty dancing very well. I’m not always in the mood for Stash but when it does strike, nothing compares.

Tom Ford’s Santal Blush is def of the same universe but I actually prefer the brashness of SJP’s. Santal Blush is like the prim and proper version. Yes, perhaps the more “expensive” smelling but thereby too refined for this type of fragrance for me. I’d rather let it be a little dirty & jumbled! Just like an undisturbed forest. SJP got it on this one & I get compliments all the time 🖤

Cooling321

Dry nutty woods. Opens nutty and soon becomes a wonderful cedar scent. Unisex leaning masculine I’d say. This is niche level perfume at an extremely reasonable price. Cold weather focused. I don’t wear it often but every time I do I say to myself that I should wear it more. Absolutely stunning, an essential in any collection.

imseptember

I'm just gonna say it, if you wear this perfume your either a hooker or a sweaty teenage boy, the scent is so insanely spicy and woody it hurts... In a good way, sort of. I mean yeah the perfume smells nice and all but god, it's so unique and way too woody in my opinion, I still like it though.

Mycoleman2800

I'm very hesitant to say that I like this. Let me put it this way, I like this after about 2 to 3 hours. When I first sprayed this I thought oh my goodness this is horrible. I felt like I was duped by reviews that had to be part of promotion or incentive lol. This is dark, heavy, masculine, amberish, earthy, and woody to me. I can't smell any patchouli from this on my skin. This can definitely be headache inducing for some. Definitely not a safe blind buy. I wouldn't recommend wearing this to work (well not at least within spraying the first hour). It would have to be very cold for me to wear this. This perfume lasts on my skin for hours and hours. After a few hours the woodsy earthy smell of this is enveloping and comforting. I definitely agree with someone who said they layer this with Guess Seductive Noir. Excellent choice!! I think that's what missing in this for me, some sweetness. Sweetness would definitely ground this and make it more enjoyable for me. For those who enjoy it just the way it is, do you.

I'll come back with an update after mixing this with Guess Seductive Noir.

John C. Duboiz

Ok so this may have been my experience alone, but it almost felt like a curse.
I blind bought this fragrance based on online hype. The bottle shows up shattered and leaking. Ok, no problem; I go through the steps, luckily I was able to return it even though the place I ordered from did not allow returns for opened boxes, but I guess if they're smashed and leaking, you can return it.
Anyway, I chuck it up to bad luck and move on with my life. A while later, I get that crazy itch to buy it again, only this time I order it from another place and at that point Stash was beginning to get scarce and not readily available. But I still managed to get it at a good price. The package shows up, lo and behold, the bottle is shattered and leaking. Except this time I'm not able to return it. So I lick my wounds throw the thing in the trash and decide to get over it. A little while goes by, I see a 10 mL version at a discount on another website. For some reason I decided third time's a charm. I should've learned my lesson by then, but here we are. The bottle arrives, and hallelujah it's not broken! But it's a roll on, dang it!
Anyway, at this point I'm not sure if this thing smells different in spray form versus roll-on form, but my experience with roll-ons has been that usually they are better quality than a spray.
Regardless, the opening of this fragrance for about 30 seconds is absolutely divine! It is such a lovely fragrance, I can't even describe what I'm smelling. But right after the 30 seconds, it turns into a cheap creamy sandalwood, just the lowest quality synthetic smell of sandalwood that you can imagine. I know most people's experience will not be the same as mine, but this fragrance for me has been a tease from beginning to end!
I just felt like sharing. I hate this thing...

jhodder

Got this as an alternative to TF Ebene Fume. Not super close, but I like this all the same. Agree that it is unisex, but I love it and am a guy. Got the 1ml bottle and currently shopping for a larger size.

skeletoff

Wear this while driving down a dark rural road with the windows down on a chilly October evening with ‘Nightcall’ by Kavinsky playing. It’s ethereal.

qianqian

just got it for an exchange. Oh I love it! Soapy, airy and patchoulish. IMO it matches better to mature women. SJP frags are all made to my liking.

brentg

All day, all night, and the next day on me! Can't understand how it could perform for 1-2 hours on someone, based on another review. With two sprays on my arm, I've gone almost two days with a shower in between and still notice it. The juice in my bottle is potent. The scent is unusual, and definitely catches my attention. Dry, not sweet. Mysterious. Dark woods. It seems more niche (Serge Lutens) than designer -- does not seem mass appealing. It took me a bit to get used to it, but I like it. The fragrance could be a signature for the right person, it being unique and attention grabbing, but might be a bit too formidable for me personally on a daily basis. A treat to experience in this hobby. Glad to have a bottle, and looking forward to getting to know it better.

Doyouevenlemon

I'm really enjoying this, didn't think I would based on the notes but I'm glad I took a chance. I'm trying to find the perfect partner to layer it with though

julie3858

Well it was a blind buy. I cannot smell any pistachio or "church" or leather for that matter.
It smells like some warm dirty wood (usually I love wood in fragrances). It smells somehow misplaced, maybe it is too warm and there are not many other notes, that will somehow compensate this "warmness".
I'll try layer it maybe, but I am kind of dissapointed.

Tamelimul

I’m positive there is nothing I could say that hasn’t been said before— but opposed to those decluttering.. if you’re in the US & hate this, I get it, it’s a preferred scent buttt… I only got a one ounce & will need more 🤣—For me this wears similarly to Nirvana Black. Very unisex, but I do get a powdery sweetness in the dry down. The first few minutes can sometimes be a bit harsh, but it dries down to perfection. I could wear this year round. It’s more of a mood scent than a seasonal one for me. I could see it layering well too, as others have said. Definitely a new fav & I was skeptical.

aleckzandurh

Stash reads as an gentler take on an aromatic, barbershop-type scent. If there were a church for the characters from Precious Moments, it’d smell like this.

A little camphorous and herbal from the sage/patchouli and a little church-like from the olibanum/cedar. It’s softer than you’d think though with these traditionally masculine notes. I’m not sure if it’s the musk and “milky” qualities of the massoia, but there’s more nuance and subtletly. I do want to make it clear though—I’m not getting any pistachio or “butter” like in Eddie Bulliqi mentioned in his Fragrantica article.

For an alternate take, I think it’s the perfect complement for layering with sugary vanillas. It cuts the sweetness, but the cedar plays well together offering something more appropriate for cooler weather or the evening.

prophetrises

Resinous, addictive elixir. Good longevity and noticeable sillage. Completely unisex. The existence of this fantastic fragrance at the price, should be an embarrassment to The Tom Fords and Creeds .10/10

cpeck

A terrifying opening. Once it dries down though...ooooo. It is so nice. I do think it leans more masculine, but it is delicious. Very woody, at times a little spearmint. Dry, not sweet. It stayed all day on me, so I can't speak to poor performance. Not at all linear, changed throughout the day, but always smelled so nice. I love it. Very much for cooler weather.

Cxavenoir

On receiving this today I sprayed this on my arm in quiet anticipation, mulling over all the positive reviews, as I brought my nose to my wrist a reluctant sense of disappointment filled me when I recognised the familiar profile.
My disappointment rapidly gave way to alarm and disbelief when I finally recalled what in my collection smelt almost identical to the dry-down of this fragrance.

The drydown on my skin smells almost identical to Donna Karan - Chaos (original stalagmite bottle)
and Black cashmere

jomxlohx

Love this fragrance but the performance on my skin is pretty poor (1-2 hours). Smells great on clothes but I don’t want to overspray my clothes just to smell it. As much as it pains me, I’ve decided to let this one go as it smells like Forest Lungs by The Nue Co, which I much prefer and performs better on my skin. Otherwise this is a niche standard unisex fragrance which is a real gem for the price. Those who like the forest-woody-dry-smoky fragrance dna will love it.

ThatGothBBW

Whelp. I guess I'm one of the very unlucky ones with this fragrance. This is definitely going to be a love/hate relationship.😔

To start this is a VERY, very well done fragrance! It's extremely well balanced, unique, and it's very high quality! I've never smelled anything like it. It's strangely beautiful. This is designer/niche quality for sure! 🙌

With that being said, ON MY SKIN, this is what I get. It smells like Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort, and Crown Royal. THAT IS IT. I must be one of the VERY few that gets this with my body chemistry. I totally get that barbershop vibe I hear others speak of, but I mainly get a very strong whiskey smell, that's literally it. I'm gutted this isn't working on my skin. 🤢

Projection, scent trail, and staying power is amazing. I only sprayed twice and this thing is PUSHING OUT LIKE A MF! I feel like spring, and fall would be the absolute best times with this fragrance. I don't feel like this would be heavy or cloying in general, but it may be to some (including myself). This 100% leans more masculine, but an edgy girl can most certainly rock this. There's almost no fruitiness or sweetness, it's damn near non existent. 😶

I AM GUTTED 😔 that I don't love this, and it's just not working with my body chemistry. Maybe I need to get used to it, or try it in a cooler weather. I just can't get past that general whiskey smell, it's honestly making me sick. Reminds me of MANY bad decisions. 😬

An extra thing to add. I took a shower after spraying this, and mind you, I'm a hard scrubber in the shower. After I got out, I still caught whiffs of it on my arm. So that alone speaks VOLUMES on the staying power of this fragrance 👈

poltergeist

I think SJP Stash is giving me a boner. Just received my two bottles. Smells really nice. Very unique, niche. Unisex. Good price. Creamy, woodiness, but sophisticated. Pretty.

Nilodlien

Where has this been? Where have I been? I tried Lovely when it first came out and, honestly, it bored me. More recently, I tried Covet (because the notes sounded up my alley) and it really did not work for me. I figured SJP and I were just not on the same wavelength. But I recently decided to give Stash a try - maybe it was the article about the jogger in Australia who was chased by the deranged kangaroo when she was wearing it. Or because I'm on a pistachio kick. Anyway, I ordered Stash as well as a full bottle of another fragrance everyone seems to be raving about. Both came yesterday. I started with the popular one and was not at all happy. Fortunately, it didn't last long.

Since I was still a bit shaken from my earlier misfortune with the popular one, I just tried one small spray. Say what??? I didn't want to overreact. Maybe it was just that I was finally happy to have the overly musky soapiness from earlier out of my nose. Sort of like how you start going out with someone who is sort of ok because the last one was awful. Then you end up married to just ok and realize you rushed into it when you should have just taken a bath and read a good book instead.

No? Just me?

Anyway...

I tried another few more zealous sprays of Stash. Even more glorious. It's dry, woody, boozy - but not sweet. That's a delicate dance to get right. (A few years back, I initially loved Angel's Share - but it quickly became cloying for me because it's just too sweet. Don't get me wrong, I love sweet, but not cloying...).

What I find so amazing about Stash is that the boozy is there, but the woody/nutty elements, combined with the dryness, keep it from being cloying. I don't know that I can identify the pistachio as such, but I'm definitely identifying nutty. And cedar. Someone further back mentioned oud. I'm not getting oud - which is good because I am not a fan of oud.

This smells like the sweaters I used to keep in my cedar hope chest - with the faintest bit of Love's Baby Soft still clinging to the cuffs. The patchouli and musk, I guess? That takes me back to a very specific time and place in my life and I just am in love with this scent!

Longevity was about 4 hours for me, I guess. Projected broadly for about an hour before becoming more of a skin scent - but that might be hard to tell because I kept shoving my wrist in my daughters' faces and saying, "Smell me! Isn't this amazing???" However, I will also say that when I went out to get the mail, the guy who was cleaning out the gutters said, "Man, you smell great!" That was after about 3 hours and he was about 7 feet away. And it was completely unprompted - I hadn't even climbed up the ladder at that point.

This is going to be great in the fall. If I had a man, I would make him wear this. But it doesn't really matter because it's great on a woman too, so I'm fine wearing it for myself.

Now I'm off to buy another bottle, the roller bottle, and the hair oil.

gospodinov_s

Nice one! Different one! Full of symbiose with my skin chemistry. It's starting Encore Noire-ish but quickly takes a mellow direction with a light burning feeling and a nice backbone.
There is a bracelet with a tiny SJP Logo around the atomizer 😉

Fenissa

This is nothing short of a little gem.
It is a very well-balanced woody aromatic, with a little hint of sweetness.
It feels green when first applied and to me pulls slightly similar to the opening of Debaser or Philosykos - on my skin, I'm not calling it a dupe - which I find really pleasing. When it settles, I can smell grapefruit and patchouli with breathtakingly beautiful woody undertones.
It's gorgeous, and I find it hard to believe it isn't niche. I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I do because I felt a little disappointed with Lovely, but damn, it's fantastic.

On a man, this must be truly heart-stopping.

Performs really well too. Silage and longevity are both moderate to strong.
The bottle comes in a pouch, which I like as it protects it from sunlight.
The atomiser sprays really well too.
If you like woody aromatics and you don't already have this in your collection, what's stopping you? It's a steal.
Dear men, please buy this.

Stash is okay. From the description, I expected it to be more complex. As another reviewer has said, it is reminiscent of a woodwork shop, but only for the first hour or so -- after that, it dries down to be sweeter and less obnoxiously cedar. However, it is still very sharp and, in my opinion, very masculine.

I am in the habit of blind buying because it has always worked for me, and I enjoy getting to know a fragrance and learning to love it -- but I think I regret this purchase. Luckily, I only purchased a 30ml bottle for a reasonable price. I'm not going to give up yet though. I plan to try layering Stash with a sweeter, and lighter fragrance. I think it might be perfect if there is something there to give it a lift and more sweetness to combat the sharpness. I will report back if layering is successful.

UPDATE: I have been layering this with Guess Seductive Noir, and it works really well. Improves both fragrances, in my opinion.

ElysseKB

Stash is a very woody and rich, well thought out perfume. A classic timeless, yet artistic scent that is wonderful to experience. It feels like something I would wear to a great bistro that's off the beaten path in NY or Paris with the best food around and then onto a cool old Jazz club.

Sassafras23

Ouch, I took a gamble buying 30ml, encouraged by how much I loved Lovely, and totally lost 😖. One has to have quite an eccentric taste to be able to appreciate it. This is not a perfume in my pedestrian understanding. To me, it smells like a woodworking shop. Can’t imagine anyone, man or woman, feeling sexy wearing this. It can make one feel industrial, for sure, like feeling an urge to build a cupboard with your own hands.

cluck1000

I share this one w/my bf. It’s a unique combo of herbaceous/fresh and also warm in its spicy-oudy-ness. He pointed out that it kind of reminds him of Intenso and while I don’t think they necessarily smell the same I do think they both have that all season fresh-yet-still-warm thing going for them. Glad I sprung for a FB when the price was right on Mercari!

JennyNoBull

When this fragrance arrived, the bottle was leaking and the smell was overwhelming. A few months down the road and I love this woods, mysterious scent. It leans a bit masculine, but I wear the shit out of this! It’s like an autumn walk through a cedar forest. Such a fabulous scent!

Sekitchen85

I received my roller ball of this today, and oh my goodness, amazing. It’s old fashioned while still being modern, and what I have been looking for. My husband said he could smell the citrus, and call me crazy but there is something about this reminds me of HOT by Ralph Lauren, I think it’s the warmth. Although this isn’t everyone’s style, so I wouldn’t say blind buy unless your really interested.

Detman101

Just received my 10ml rollerball sample of this fragrance.
I don't think I need it after all...it smells like a more "Green" version of "Alexandria Fragrances - H'ani".
My bottle of "Lattafa - Nasheet" is even closer to "Stash" in it's greenness.
While "H'ani" performs louder and longer..."Nasheet" is almost a dead ringer for this fragrance as it has the pepper in the opening along with the ginger.
I'll give "Stash" this...it definitely is a lively fragrance while being comforting and intriguing at the same time.
However, I've got too many others operating in that same "spicy, gingery, vanillic" space already.

TDSollog

I'm so glad I found a bottle at a flea market, because my original bottle was used up. I got desperate when I heard that this was being discontinued. It's woody, herbal, citrus and spicy. Clean but dirty. A unisex masterpiece.

benilla

Mine came leaked with a scuffed up cap so returned, +1 to Fragrancebuy for the service though! The scent itself was not for me, it smelled like woods mixed with a cherry halls cough drop

Smokeandhoney

I had to come back to rewrite this review. To give a true test I sprayed liberally, drenched my skin and my hair, a few sprays on my clothes. Now I get it. Stash, a strange yet stunning composition which became one with me and revealed it’s facets ever so gently, flickering between slightly smoky woods that meddle with nutty nuances to become almost creamy, the soft olibanum and vetiver, fluffy musk. I get the molasses like @Daisv says below. After it’s sharp initial opening and once the grapefruit and peppery texture settles, Stash sings a mysterious yet comforting melody on the skin. I can still smell Stash now after a full day and night. Such pleasant whiffs of gentle amber, woody, creamy, musky haze. Really, it feels like a Penhaligons release, it has that well rounded niche classic woody tone. My favourite and most surprisingly good celebrity fragrance as of yet. I can only imagine this juice improves and deepens with age.

I love a perplexing scent that just makes sense.

Daisv

I sit here utterly defeated that I put off trying this scent for so dang long. Really, their is no valid excuse other than me having some low expectations and trying to cure up a more elevated perfume collection. I have wanted to get my hands on a bottle for probably 3-4 years and really tried to find it 2 years ago to discover from the ladies at SJP that it is discontinued. WOW heart shattering. Now that it is in my possession I can only feel sorry for myself.

This was love at first snifffffff and it is immediately at the top of my heavy hitters. If you like wood, nutty, molasses like smells drenched in spices then please go ahead and try this. I am shocked no one has compared this to the Penhaligon's fragrances that literally smell the same!!! I almost felt sorry for myself I could of saved so much $$$$$ had I given this a try way sooner! Halfeti is incredible similar in the spiciness and fog like creaminess.... mmm! Same with Sports Car Club....so delicious, the vetiver, pepper, and green notes are blended to an intoxicating cocktail.

In short I am willing to consolidate my entire collection and keep possibly 5 fragrances and this will be in my top 3. wow I am in love. I have my new signature!!!

MissMarco

I really enjoy this one. at the opening , there is really a fresh spiciness and tarteness of the black pepper, sage and grapefruit..the reflection at the top of all three is pretty accurate and distinct. I get the woody notes at the middle and the lily just kind of grazes over all the wood, musk and vetiver at the drydown. really really great blend. I'm officially curious about the flankers and if they are just as masterfully done as this OG.

LuLuGoes

I read the comment below about the creators of SJP Stash. Actually, the press around the 2016 launch did provide that information. Parker worked with IFF perfumers Clement Gavarry (Prada Prada for women) and Laurent Le Guernec (Beautiful Magnolia Estée Lauder) to create Stash. As I write this, I don't see that info listed on Fragrantica.

dexilio

Took me by surprise. I blind bought it after randomly hearing about it on youtube once. It was only 35 bucks, so I thought what the hell. The opening was mediocre. I didn't particularly like it, but it was pleasant enough for me. BUT THE DRY DOWN THOUGH! The dry down was so damn good! It is a beautiful mixture of woody, creamy, ambery scent with just a hint of nuttiness and sweetness. Longivity and projection are both very decent. Stash isn't a fragrance that screams but it most definitely is heard. On top of its amazing scent profile, its versatility should also be mentioned. Try laying it with any vanilla-forward scents. Where have you been all my life?!

Random Spirit Lover

Not much more one can add, all the positive reviews are there for a reason. Amazing value. You’d never expect something this good and surprisingly unisex from a celebrity perfume that is marketed to women and isn’t even credited with a named perfumer. At the price it can be found for, everyone should have this in their collection, even the haughtiest of fragrance snobs. In the pantheon of great, no-brainer recommendation cheapies.

Performance on my skin is so-so, but I can smell it strongly on fabric days later.
Without knowing what it was, my girlfriend said it smelled very woody and quite nice, then said she thought it was similar to some of the multi-layered fragrances I already have.

LuLuGoes

I finally figured out what Stash SJP reminds me of. It's the discontinued Eau de Vétyver by L'Occitane en Provence. I used to wear that with soft gray sweaters, even though it was in the "for men" L'Occitane product line. I loved it. Look at the listed notes for L'Occitane's Vétyver, and see what you think: "Top notes are Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Nutmeg and Guaiac Wood; base notes are Vetiver, Cedar and Leather."

I understand why a lot of the reviewers offer their bottles of Stash SJP for sale in their reviews. It's good, but it's not what you'd expect from SJP.

If I tried Covet or Lovely and a few Lovely flankers first (which I did over a period of years), I'd never expect to get this leathery, herbal, niche-league creation, which is "suitable for both men and women." Don't get me wrong. I love it. I love it, because it's like a walk in the forest wearing a haute couture suede jacket and a cashmere scarf, a little wood smoke rising over the tree line.

As others have written, it's very important to let this dry down and settle to reveal its true nature. It goes from sharp to velvet over time. I don't know where the pistachio is in this?

Longevity and projection? No problem. I can smell this the next day on my jacket. Alas, I read that Stash SJP may be discontinued. It took some effort for me to find an affordable 3.4 oz tester. I am not one of those offering it up for sale, because it is my first replacement (although, not a dupe) for my long, lost L'Occitane Vétyver.

If you miss L'Occitane Vétyver, too, this is worth seeking out for that reason alone.

djevelhelvete

I managed to get a brand new tester bottle for a cheap price (only comes with no cap). This was a blind buy and I don't know why I got so obsessed with this, maybe it was the notes that are totally my alley or maybe it was the reviews and the hype around it.
And so I got it and I immediately sprayed on my arm (I had no perfume on me) and my first thought was "oh sh*t, this is WAY too masculine" but it took the juice like 2 minutes and then there it was, THERE IT WAS. This scent is AMAZING, I can get the wood notes, the aromatics and the musk. I also can smell a slightly salt nuance in it. I still think it leans on the masculine side by a bit but still it is a very VERY beautiful fragrance.
I will definitely wear it more to speak about sillage and projection, but as a first impression, I'm pretty blown away.

1037

This is so good it makes me want to sell my whole collection just to make more room for bottles of Stash. Seriously regretting buying a 1oz bottle right now. It's soooo woody without being dank or dirty, it almost smells drinkable. So perfectly unisex. I should have written a bad review to dissuade people from buying it because I want it all to myself.

notnati

This one took me by surprise! I never blind buy but I took the leap of faith for that one. First sniff off the blotter, it leaned way too masculine for my personal preference. I mostly got the cedar, sage and grapefruit. Didn't seem unique in any way, shape, or form - just your regular shaving cream. But it opened much better on the skin. Yes, there was the cologne, but it was offset by the slight, nutty sweetness (I saw a lot of people saying they don't get the pistachios - I definitely do) with just a little saltiness for good measure. Kind of like a shaving cream with salted caramel - I know it doesn't sound appealing, but it seems to actually work. The woody dry down comes fast. Still leans very much masculine overall (in the dry down as well), but I am sold. May not be the best perfume I ever smelled, but it's a solid release.

To my nose there is no resemblance at all to Santal Blush.

Invasionbg

Don't waste your money on TF Ebene Fume. Get this one. It came before Ebene Fume and it cost much less. This is quality fragrance for those of you that like heavy woody, slightly smoky balsamic perfumes.
Great work!

dissolver

Just went and pounced on a bottle of this since it’s discontinued and I’ve burned through my rollerball. This smells like an indie/niche scent to me. Unisex, woody, just sweet enough, homey but interesting. Really really nice.

ScouseRach

Amazing compliment getter! Beast mode longevity, I sometimes layer with Iso E super. It's discontinued so grab before it gets super expensive. Slight resemblance to Tom Ford Santal Blush, but less.. refined or smooth, but if you like that you'll probably enjoy this too.

mariahum

There's not much I can say about this that hasn't already been said! It's an intoxicating cedar dream of a scent, and definitely unisex (though I refuse to share this with my male partner, it's all miiine). Today I had the stroke of genius to layer it with a touch of Ameer Al Oud Intense. Just amazing.

Holliebobollie

Love this one! Such great value for money. Unisex, interesting.

AllisonNW

I haven’t given this a proper wear, but I just want to let people know that fragrance is measured by volume, not by coming to the top of the bottle. A lot of perfumes don’t come to the top of the bottle. There may be 100ml of fragrance in a bottle that could potentially hold 110ml of liquid, etc. There is nothing nefarious here.

ginandrice

For me Stash is all bitter, tangy aromatics and dry, sharp woodiness. There’s a pleasant but minor citrus element, and just the barest hint of balsamic sweetness. It's cool to see leather listed as one of the inspirations here, because I do get a vibe like dry, smoky suede in the base.

I picture a well-matched, mid-thirties couple with a shared interest in woodworking. They have a house in the outer suburbs, on the edge of a forested area, and they’ve got a solid workshop setup in the garage. I picture them on late-summer afternoons--one or both of them working away on various shop projects, sawdust redolent in the dry heat. I picture them retiring to the back deck to drink icy G&T's in the waning evening light.

LSAUG

I just picked up a small 1 ounce bottle of this super cheap on Fragrancenet. I went through 1 rollerball years ago and gave 1 away and kind of regretted doing so. Glad I was able to add this back to my collection. It does give me a headache at times but it is just so darn good that I will wear it when I am able to. Very woody, aromatic, almost tobacco like. Herbal, smoky. I usually don't go for fragrances like this, but I really adored Stash when it first came out years ago and was surprised it was discontinued. My husband never warmed up to it but when I wore it out everyone wanted to know what I was wearing. It is long lasting and smells niche like to my nose. Better than many much more expensive niche fragrances. Totally unisex. Woody, boozy, tobacco nuances, spicy, aromatic and herbal but gentle enough to be close to. I'm glad I have this really unique Celeb perfume back in my collection.

Amber Plokchouli

Oh stash, I almost forgot how beautiful you are..
Today I’m wearing Stash for the first time in two years. The last time I wore it was one of the last times I saw my dad before he passed away. When I gave him a hug, he told me I smelled like oranges. Now, two years later I’m ready to smile at that memory again, but for a while it made me sad, so I avoided Stash.

The peculiar thing is that Stash really does smell like oranges on my skin. It even comes across as the main note, so I’m surprised no one else has mentioned it. I guess it may me my specific skin chemistry that makes it smell that way, cause I’ve always experienced this to be an orange fragrance, and my dad wasn’t the only one who had commented on me smelling like oranges when I was wearing this.

It’s a beautiful orange smell. Not juicy and fresh, like orange juice, not tart and zesty.. no this is the smell of a sweet, ripe orange, when you gently rub the skin with your fingers. It’s that specific sweet aroma.. almost like orange blossom, but more orange-y if that makes sense.

Like others have pointed out there is a sauna smell, especially in the early stages, before it becomes creamy, and whiffs of the fragrance tend to waft up, like it’s evaporating on your skin, which is also reminiscent of a sauna (I get the same thing with mossy notes sometimes like in mitsouko or cabochard). In my cause it’sa saying that smells of oranges though..
I can clearly distinguish the cedar, which contributes to the sauna smell. On first spray I get a whiff of the grapefruit (although it blends in with the other notes into that lovely orange scent).. I get pine needles sometimes, and a tingly herbal aroma from the pepper and sage.. it’s resinous, it has a sexy musky depth, it’s woodsy, but most of all is that elegant almost delicate, and yet so prominent, orange smell.
Once the scent dries down, it becomes creamy. I don’t really get the coconut scent, it’s more like whipped cream. Orange flavoured whipped cream, because the orange is always there.

I know that what I perceive as orange, is in fact the resinous/cedar notes mixed with the grapefruit and vetiver … but no matter how much I try to dissect it, it just blends together and becomes orange. And I adore it!

I can never be without this scent, as it’s so closely connected to the last moments I spent with my dad. I will use my bottle sparingly to make it last as long as possible and stock up when I get the chance.
🍊

I get great longevity, if I spray it in the morning, I can still detect it on my skin the next morning! No joke! Silage is moderate.

This fragrance is such a beast and so intriguing that I personally consider it niche quality.

dpetro

It’s like everyone here says: quiet, dry wood, bottle 85% full, a very unique and compelling scent for a bargain if you can find it. I chased it for the reports that it smelled like a sauna, and it’s not 100% sauna but it’s certainly reminiscent of that. Soft memory of a sauna.

Jwdp

Enpointe is certainly on point with her review!

This was not love at first sniff for me, but every time I wear it I crave it more and more. It’s my signature now. I can’t get enough of it. Incense and woods and dry herbs and…coconut? Yes, sometimes. Butter? Sometimes. Sandalwood? Sometimes. Whatever notes I pick up in the moment, it’s stunning.

My $40 tester bottle from fragrancex was also not completely full. For $40 I didn’t complain. I bought a backup bottle about two weeks ago, so they may still have them available.

AnlisaC

@enpointe EXACTLY. Well put totally agree! Smells expensive niche. Love it!

enpointe

After being in chokehold by BR540 and its millions of dupes, I feel like I've been living in a marshmellow and plastic barbie head world. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it is refreshing to get back to something woodsy, dry and masculine. This feels like cuddling up with Mr. Big's shirt from SATC. It smells of cigars, old cologne, and pine from the lobby of NYC's chicest hotels. I love that it sits close to the skin and is not loud. It's not the guy yelling across the room to get attention. It's the a head turner, but only when you get close enough to witness its quiet confidence. It's a very dry scent, like California on the cusp of a wildfire dry. I'm curious what it would smell like with a boozy note of cognac added to it.

I read a review below that called this fragrance lactonic. And at first, I thought that was a crazy assessment for a scent that is so sharply woody. But then I wore it for 10 hours, and at the end of the day, it smelled very creamy on my skin. I kept thinking it was my shampoo but it was definitely this fragrance. And I can see where those who smelled coconut could also find that note.

This perfume has been notoriously difficult to get my hands on lately. I'm sad it's discontinued (heard it was something to do with the lack of sourcing around Massoia wood? not sure if that's true), but perhaps it can come back in a slightly altered form. This smells so much more expensive than the $40 I spent on the 100ml when I finally got my hands on it (should've bought a second backnite.

Edit: answered my own question about the cognac addition. I put on a coat today that I had previously sprayed Angel's Share on, and can report back that the combined of AS and Stash is amazing!

And my bottle was also 85% when I got it. Someone else mentioned the same thing. I was going to send an angry note to the retailer but I noticed the picture on the web page was also 85% full.

mikestro

Dry, very woody, a little bit smoky in the vein of burning wood (hickory) from a meat smoker. It has that weird savory, bacon-y meat smokehouse smell. I also smell a strong pine smell ala the old school Pino Silvestre. Pine and burning hickory, that is what I get.

This was a disappointing, underwhelming blind buy. I rarely blind buy but I pulled the trigger because of all the hype in fragrance community and the fact that it came back in stock after being out of stock/production for a very long time. Didn't want to waste time on buying the roller ball or locating a decant because I didnt want to miss out.

Also this does not smell like a Christmas tree like some reviews suggest, unless you consider a pine tree/needle smell like a Christmas tree. To me a Christmas tree reminds me more of a fir (fir balsam) or spruce tree which are much sweeter and less pungent. There is absolutely no sweetness in Stash

Smell: 4 out of 10.

Trab

Perfume is nice very woody and dry, leaning a little more to the masculine site - performance is good - got it really cheap 20€/50ml bottle and when I opened the box and removed the bottle from the pouch, strange thing is that the bottle was not completely full - I would say the bottle was for 85% full - I read on one site that other people also received bottles which were not completely full - anyone else hat a similar experience with these bottles ?

TabledThoughts

Predominant male cologne scent.
Very strong wood accord.
Light dose of pistachio.
Otherwise, quite dry.

hexed

I don't get any coconut in this at all, but apparently everyone around me seems to pick up on something coconutty when I wear it. Something to take note of for those of you who hate coconut. I do find it both nutty and slightly "oily" feeling but not at all lactonic, and the sweetness to me is very different from any summery fragrance.

perfumesniffer

Not what I expected after hearing the hype for so many years.

I was thinking this would be a dark woody scent like DK Black Cashmere. It’s not like that at all.

Stash is a gentle aromatic scent. Very mild. It’s herb focused like a basket of dried sage leaves with some chamomile, some hay, a spot of pine/balsam and a few wood chips. Not especially challenging or woody. Could be a room spray at the chic spa where you splurge on massages. It’s nice enough. Unisex. Natural like a dry, west coast forest, feels like the outdoors. Not much projection or presence but good if you’re trying to avoid perfumey perfumes and don’t want to offend. I got my bottle for $35 so I’m completely fine with it.

Skinscents4Fusspots

I'm wearing this today... on a cold December day in London, Christmas Lights all over the City and I came here to say, I am totally getting a Christmas tree vibe from this! I've worn it a lot and it's not like I didn't know it has a woody smell with sweet resins and a herbaceous green note from the Sage, but I never thought about it as a pine needle scent before today - and I see that a reviewer below said the same thing!

I just got the Body Shop Wild Pine perfume and was feeling a bit sad that it wasn't heavier in the pine. I was thinking I'd have to get the Waking Woods of Scandinavia from 4711 to quench my thirst for a Christmas tree perfume, but no! My beloved Stash is putting the festive work in for me! And unlike other pine perfumes I've smelt, Stash has the benefit of being sweet, warm and cosy, rather than frosty and forest-like.

Wearing this today feels like like sitting near a real Christmas Fir Tree in front of a smoky fire full of the most fragrant wood, nibbling on pistachio's and sipping a hot toddy with a squeeze of citrus and a slice of crystallised ginger. It is so perfect for Christmas - I can't believe I never noticed before today!

Imho, this is so much nicer to wear than By the Fireplace, which is pure smoke followed by a very sickly vanilla. It's also less burnt smelling than Autumn vibes. This has so many levels that it's quite an experience to wear it. I AM JUST OBSESSED! you can get 100ml in the UK for £30 and I'm trying to stop myself hoarding all the bottles of this and Stash Unspoken, because they're both heavenly to wear and I never want to run out!

Bubbles1964

I guess I’ve never reviewed Stash before, which surprises me because it’s hands down my favorite celebrity perfume, and one of my favorite spicy-woody-amber scents.

Fresh spicy (a green vetiver) is how it goes on, drying down into creamy incense and woods. Such an easy, natural wear and completely unisex.

If Wonderwood and Santal Blush got together, Stash would be their baby. You can still find this for under $60 for 100ml. Incredible.

smellmyfingers

Completely unisex. Very smooth. Very, very smooth, almost creamy woods with just a little sweetness. Doesn’t scream synthetic like many other inexpensive fragrances. Has a relaxing, level kind of vibe. Very solid longevity and sillage. 2 bottles at about $80 is an absolute steal.

woodfreak

all these years.. ive been looking for a scent that smells like a sauna / heated wood, paired with notes that aren’t typical but are wearable and unique and warm, projects well and stays beautiful all day. This is exactly that. I don’t know why but it reminds me of natural palo santo sticks, perhaps from the Massoia wood. I just got my first 100 ML and already having a mini nervous breakdown about how I’m gonna forever own this fragrance. It’s SO. MUCH. BETTER. than most ridiculously expensive designer perfumes i can’t even…… This is my new BFF, my sexy warm calming unisex sauna babe.
So happy !!!

dubdub

This is a love at first sniff to me and it reminds me of the opening of Encre Noir A l'extreme, just the opening. I usually pair it with Zara Ebony Wood and oh my god the combo on my skin is just too good.

misspotocky

I will never stop moaning that they discontinued this gem. What a massive crime! And it's apparently because IFRA decided that massoia wood might be allergy triggering. Why they don't ban tomatoes or peanuts then? They are allergy triggering as well. Instead of this stupid discontinuing of fragrances we love they could just put a label that it might contain allergic ingredients. I'm absolutely pissed off. Shame

Raylin

I love this smell, the only thing that would make me love it more is if it smelled less like a Christmas tree. That's the ONLY complaint I have with it. And I even like Christmas tree smell but some days its the dominant smell, idk why but on the days where tree isn't the only thing I smell I could absolutely SWIM in this stuff.

solidsergio7

What I like about this fragrance is how Sarah did a good job on releasing something completely different from the crowd-pleasing standards, coming from a celebrity scent that is indeed admirable.

Not an average fragrance by any means . Opens with a punch of pepper and grapefruit, along with sandalwood . Sometimes it reminds me of the ink of a Bic pen with sweetness, it’s weird but interesting .

A fragrance that’s very similar is Marc Jacobs for men , creamy yet spicy and woody.

But , I wouldn’t pay more that 60 for this , needs more beast silage to justify a higher price tag. Either way after wearing it for a while , loved it ! But strictly for winter .

dlopeztt

Very woody
Similar to Tom Ford’s Bois Marocain
Not my style 😕

lapequenita

Woody, dark, unique, sexy and genderless. Beautiful. It has warmness of a sandalwood and peppery, spicy touch. There is an acidic hint, I believe it’s the mix of grapefruit with sage. Definitely it has a quality of a niche perfume. To my nose it is not a dupe for Tom Ford - Stash is more daring, Santal Blush is softer and rounder.

ChristyFirefly

I will bask this cold autumn with this fragrance.
I feel like a hot sexy woman when I use this fragrance.
It is as if I, dressed in my favorite orange sweater, were sitting in an easy chair in front of the fireplace. My loved one hugs me. The scent of his perfume mingled with mine. We are warm and pleasant. We watch Harry Potter and eat nuts.

Tmcglamery

Spicy fall and winter fragrance for me. Rich, woodsy, peppery, amber, creamy . I’m very pleased with this and purchased the body oil also.
Reminds me of Tom Ford Santal Blush except it lasts much longer and costs a lot less.

Dodiefy

I've been reading/ watching reviews for stash for a while now. The recent article on fragantica piqued my interest again. Certain that I would love this fragrance I splashed out on two big 100ml bottles.

Long story short. Stash is woody, creamy, refined whth some aromatics. However it turns too masculine on me. I tried SJPs lovely and really like it. So after researching so many different niche brands and unusual scents for over a year it turns out I'm basic. I now have two bottles to rehome.

Did I actually read reviews that said smells “buttery” and another that said it reminds them of “pickles on a Big Mac” lmfao. People are ridiculous. This is a very woody scent that does not smell like butter or pickles lol. If you don’t appreciate or no anything about fragrances you shouldn’t be leaving reviews on here.

Charlotte_Grace_29

One of my absolute favorites. A complete stunner through and through. So addicting that I need to create a backup stash.

This fragrance is definitely one that depends on the skin chemistry of the wearer. It leans slightly more masculine, but is a beautiful unisex scent that I believe rivals anything that niche houses are putting out right now.

On me, the scent is this rich, almost lactonic woodiness that blooms with time on my skin. I do not detect the sage or the citrus notes, but unfortunately for me my skin obliterates any type of citrus scent. After the scent has settled, I start getting the creamy, almost nutty-sweet notes of pistachio floating around. You won't smell the pistachio right away, it takes a minute to show up.

The massoia wood is a nice touch that adds some interest to the blend. It smells reminiscent of Palo Santo wood, and to the Palo Santo cologne by Cremo. The olibanum adds a bit of resinous flavor to the juice that makes it "stick" more than other nutty/woody fragrances. The musk is an unobtrusive base layer that brings it all together.

The bottle itself is very very nice. It is made out of heavy, thick glass with a fun label on the front. There is cording wrapped around the neck, reminiscent of old pharmacy bottles, and the cap fits very snugly. A great value for the money (if you can find a good deal - Stash has become hard to find recently, and prices have really shot up).

Overall this fragrance may be a little polarising, and I think it would be more of a draw for men rather than women, but on the right person it is simply stunning. It smells chic, unique, and a tad mysterious. I have not found anything else on the market that comes remotely close.

I recently sampled Katy Perry Indi, and it is VERY similar to Stash. To my nose, it is a dupe. If I decide I need more of this type of scent, I would go for Indi, since it's so much cheaper, easier to find, and smells the same. The bottle for Stash is much more chic, so points for that!

So, I bought this just out of curiosity. It is not at all what I thought based on descriptions. First of all it is absolutely not a warm woody scent at all to me. Initially I smelt medicinal smell with a cold damp wood and the wood part of a coconut. I also smell the sage. None of these things are my cup of tea. At first I smelt a head shop, shaving cream (a bad one old one), church. But if there is a church vibe there it would be more like a Mission with sage bushes around it. It is not a warm wood. I know coconut is not listed but it's there and gives it a slight rainforest smell (not in a good way) like a medicinal tree in the rainforest smell. Because of that it reminds me a little of Deseo by Jennifer Lopez only Deseo doesn't smell bad like this. This is a bad version of Deseo by Jlo. Maybe the coconut comes from one of the woods?? It's a tropical wood that's wet mixed with dry sage and fake coconut head shop spray with that horrible Aspen cologne in the green bottle. An older hippie lady with grey hair who drives a Subaru might wear this but she would be rude and annoying lol. No wizard or witch smell here unless it's the witch from suicide squad. I don't get the hype about this at all. It's fake coconut air fresheners, sage and wet wood. Cold feeling. The spice is like menthol medicine from the 50s. The only positive is the bottle is cool and really heavy! Yuck get this smell out of my nose. I wouldn't like this on a guy either. He would be a no at all annoying and ugly guy. Just yuck. But if you like this I will sell it to anyone. I have a brand new bottle with box and bag.

You've just walked into a bar in Southern USA, it's made entirely out of wood. Everything, the floor, the bar, the ceiling...all wood. It's busy, they only serve whisky. Inhale. This is that...bottled.

Butter? Get a grip.

Andy the Frenchy

The opening is greasy (buttery) new furniture. Very pleasant, even if not unique, and unfortunately it thins out quickly into the base, that will unveil an lemony olibanum 'zing' that fails to impress and an unnecessary and undescribed sweet accord that will stay linear until the end. Poor performance doesn't help either, has it becomes a skin scent within 30min, in spite of the 5-6 sprays I applied in a single spot. That said, if finding a large pop under $50, I can see how it could work well as an utilitarian-hard-to-dislike-fragrance for the office, aka a dumb reach for Fall, for perfume-adverse environments. As much as I love woody frags, the coconut/butter impression with that hint of sweetness makes it lean unequivocally feminine to my nose - so not, not unisex to me.

I think that discounter's pricing is just the fair pricing. A good cheapie, but no hidden gem for me here. Truth is that nowadays, it's nothing exceptional to combine good smelling with cheap, and I think that a few other brands that retail in the same price range (or lower) do it better.
That said, for its defense, I'll say that it can be an affordable decent woody frag, even if it the overall pleasure it provides cannot compare with more expensive ones. Definitely a mainstream-smelling fragrance with the typical architecture of mall fragrance: nice opening, and falls flat shortly after.
In a nutshell: I would only recommend this fragrance to ladies on a tight budget, assuming one find it heavily discounted (under $40 for a large bottle). I cannot believe that some have paid $60-80 for this one, while M&B Indian Study and N1942 Sandalo Nobile used to retail for $80-100 at discounters. Ahhhh, the hype train....

Skinscents4Fusspots

This is the vibe I wanted from Obsessed intense (which I found sickly sweet, powdery and generally cloying). I have a little tube of the eau de Parfum elixir version of Stash and although it is very resinous and woody at first, in the dry down my skin pulls out the pistachio, sage and musk. It is sweet and cosy and super autumnal. So smooth and beautifully blended! I was sure I wouldn’t like this as I veer away from woody perfumes or even slightly masculine scents, but I can’t stop sniffing this one! It smells like such high quality ingredients have been used here and it’s a soft cloud of warm, herbal, nutty woods. It reminds me more of sandalwood than cedar when it dries down, and the patchouli is not taking over the composition. SJP clearly puts a lot of love into her scents and this one is way more wearable than the notes might suggest! Genuinely can’t believe that I like this on myself as much as I do!

I’ve had Stash for quite awhile now and it’s the perfect fall scent for those who don’t want sweet.
I really like it on a cold and rainy fall day, which in my area is like 3 months straight. To me it only smells good outdoors, it’s just too much when your stuck inside. It needs the wind and crisp air through it.

This all sounds well and good right? Unfortunately I don’t love it, or really even like it that much outside of the above setting. The first time I smelled it at ULTA I immediately told my husband, this smell exactly like the sandalwood box my Mom would keep her marijuana in when I was a kid. Her “stash”. I’m convinced Sarah Jessica Parker had pot smoking parents too, and they had the popular sandalwood inlaid with carved scrolls on them. I mean her and I are the same age, so I may be onto something.

So I bought the bottle instantly because dang, memories! For shits and giggles, I asked my now elderly Mom if she still had her pot box and she said “Of course, where else would I keep my joints” Yes, she still has an off and on relationship with Mary Jane.

So there you have it, Stash is old wooden box with the scent of weed. Now I know why I don’t like this indoors.

skybunny

Gosh I love this so much. Stash brings up some buried memories from childhood. While smelling this I can very easily see myself, 7-8 years old, nervously dipping my fingers into a bowl of holy water in the foyer of my grandparent's catholic church. The foyer always had spillover incense from mass in it, but it also always had some other scents mixing in, and in this instance I can really smell the incense lingering with the Christmas trees, occasionally interrupted by bursts of cold Canton, Ohio air blowing in from the street.

ajrose

I simply adore this. Woody scents can sometimes bother me but this one is perfect. It's gentle, yet BOLD. It's creamy, woody, spicy, softly sweet. It's well blended and soft smelling but it still maintains good longevity and projection. It's magical!

Child Chemist

Stash is a light, incense-woody-patchouli smell. Unisex. Mostly, I get a churchy vibe.

Andy the Frenchy

This is a nice new furniture smell. Creamy synthetic woods, and... that's pretty much it. The lemony olibanum note in the base give a nice 'zing', but is quite thin, and does not manage to turn this juice from 'just ok' to great.
I might agree that it's difficult to find that (overused) 'creamy woody/amber' scent profile in that price range in malls, and in that sense, it might work for a budget-conscious versatile woody utilitarian frag for office (inoffensive and hard to dislike). But don't expect miracles based on raving reviews: it's no high-end smelling fragrance, it's linear, as low projection (on my skin, at least) and I wouldn't even call that one 'a hidden gem'. From that standpoint, I agree with the review of @oceansoflorewi calling out excessively positive reviews. But of course it might depend of what stage of the fragrance journey one is at: had I smelt it at the time I was keeping the budget under tight control, and owned just 10 bottles, my review would have probably been more generous with a 'like' (but not a love). Now, I find it just ok under $50, and would dislike it had I paid more than that for a large bottle.
Will probably end up on my sales list!

AA4102

@oceansofloweri Yes, cos your opinion is the only thing that matters right?! When you review, can you make it about yourself, your experience, your opinion and stick to it?! Don't make it sound as if your review is the end-all, be-all of reviews. YES, it obviously didn't work for you or your taste.. BUT guess what?! There are people out there that truly enjoy this. This has cult followers!!

Aamir Bukhari

Do not buy from offscent uk, they are sending prive flanker instead when you order this one.

Alces Alces

@oceansoflorewi
Excellent review. I reviewed this positively about three years ago and still love Stash, but you are so right in your description! New furniture. Yup. Sorry it did not work for you, but grateful that you posted such an entertaining review😄

oceansoflorewi

Been wearing this all day since it was delivered. Even sprayed it on for a second wearing after the fist dry-down to figure out what in the actual eff I was wearing.

SO ... before I explain what this does smell like, let me confirm what this doesn't smell like; A forest, dirt, grass, leaves, flowers, trees, a fresh breeze (nor the birds nor the bees lmao), a druid/a wizard (I read the reviews lol), nature, a person, not a man nor woman, animals, a clean car, laundry, hand soap, shampoo, fruit, something you'd eat, and not even a candle!! What's left?

This literally smells like a piece of freaking furniture. Like literally a new table from pottery barn or something to that degree. A fancy new wooden table sure- But still a bland table. Even though it's not a weak fragrance-There's something so incredibly bland about the DNA that while it sits on you - you start to question your sanity. This scent is like eating a taco with just cheese and no meat and spices, or eating plain popcorn with no butter or salt. Mashed potatoes without gravy. Great depression deprivation.

Something just doesn't seem right as this sits on you. I can appreciate so many fragrance art forms but I can't imagine why they put effort into this release just so someone can smell like a raw unfinished teakwood entry way console table. I was excited to smell the pistachio but I don't pick it up whatsoever like I do in Spice Bomb Night Vision. Like they say in Drag Race; "Where. Are. The. Jokes." I ask SJP "Where. Are. The. NOTES."

This seems to be missing a top AND a base and is just stuck in this strange bland mid-note purgatory. Not bright nor dark. Although wood can be a base note- this is not a wood that dominant enough to give character. I really don't get it... like why guys? You couldn't have hyped something a little more creative into my collection?

Owning a fragrance that smells like a wooden table is the equivalent to owning a fragrance that smells like the electromagnetic spicy warm dust in the back of a 90's tube TV. Or owning a fragrance that smells like a brand new carpet. I guess as long as its discontinued and on Fragrancebuy.ca it wouldn't matter?

This DNA has a sort of creepy realism you'd find in a avant-garde art show mocking the world of art that takes itself seriously. It sort of reminds me of those scents made to make something real smell more real. Like if you try to sell laminate wood on craigslist for real wood prices- this would help you scam the buyer.

Either way- The frag community is exactly why I have trust issues lol. This release is absolutely ridiculous and to think so many shat on celebrity houses while reviewing this and praised this as if SJP was some sort of unisex fragrance delivering queen. I'd praise the Paris Hilton for men house WAY before this garbage. All 4 of Paris Hilton male releases were stellar.

My 'raw woody' cologne suggestion would have to be Raghba wood intense - there's something incredibly magical the way they mixed burnt charred wood with sweet marshmallows. I have yet to smell a wood based fragrance to beat that one.

Would I recommend this? I'd rather get sucked up into a tornado of farts.

ZERO ZERO ZERO DELETE DELETE DELETE

Update: Since I already blind bought it and doesn't have much of a flip value - i'll just use it for autumn office days. F it...

MrFragrance1

I tried it on in a store. Thought it was nice so I picked it up.

I got someone to try it and they said it reminded them of something. The person said that it reminds them of pickles in a big mac burger. Now, I can't get that smell out of my head when smelling this fragrance. I hope that this doesn't ruin the experience for others.

However, if McDonald's ever wish to make a big mac pickle fragrance. They can contact SJP for the formula of this fragrance.

Ace78

I finally got Stash for a steal under $50 bucks. Ever since I heard it was being discontinued,, I wanted to have this in my collection; I think it's the bottle that got me ( just like the brand it mimics did). I went to the their website (SJP) and they had a few left for a $100 bucks which at that time was too steep for a blind buy. So now that I have it I can give you my own personal experience. This smells exactly like Dunhill Icon Elite (Black bottle) which I already have I couldn't believe it so I headed over to fragrantica to see if others felt the same way and one person hit it on the head. @Irfie you are So right!! No need to go looking for this bottle just pick up Dunhill Icon Elite (Black bottle) instead.

rsuzanne

Yes, it’s a cedarwood fragrance, but the drydown is identical to my bottle of sandalwood essential oil that I have next to me. So that must be the massoia wood? anyway, I’m a woman who loves woody smells and I love stash. I paid more for it that I would have liked since it’s been discontinued :(

Madyana

I have read this review thread and all I got out of it was; wooden. And specifically cedar wood. Well, more obviously it's the truth. I can notice it in the opening, but...as an inexperienced sniffer, I imagined ( ! ) the cedar wood more aromatic? The dry down of this reminds me mostly of sandalwood. Very creamy, almost waxy sandalwood, sandalwood almost to the point of nausea. Just a touch of citrus saves me from that. Maybe that image of sandalwood (to me)comes from a combination of pistachio and massoia wood, I have no idea what that now-banned wood smells like. So the intensity, even if this is reformulated, can be commendably found here. I think Stash is pleasant and ok, but not earth-shattering for me.

MusketThumb

I love this scent and I hate this scent. I am confused, but I'm also excited. This fragrance smells like a druid casting spells over the ruins of an ancient church deep in the woods. It also smells like the inside of an abandoned haunted Broadway theater in the best possible way. It's entirely unique and yet you've smelled this before in your dreams (nightmares?). It's a wonderful fragrance to add to your collection, but be aware that you will smell like a wizard. This definitely leans more masculine early and pure unisex/astral forest deity as it dries. Not a safe blind buy but you MUST buy this.

nfbr

Not sure if I’m just unlucky but I feel the presentation is poor with this fragrance.
I have a leaky atomiser which has caused the juice to dissolve the rubber paint on the lid and the glue from the inner lid leaving me with an ugly looking lid that separates itself whenever I try to use the fragrance.

Fragrance wise I like the quality and find the scent intriguing, but I just can’t picture a scenario that this would be the go-to scent for…

Still, it cost next to nothing, so I’ll hang on to it and see if it grows on me over time.

Update: I ended up getting refunded as the ugly bottle didn’t fit in with my small collection and the scent profile
I just couldn’t get on with. Definitely not blind but safe.

Enrium

I have long heard good things about Stash, and it was out of stock for so long I was unable to try it until last week. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a discounted full bottle when it briefly came back in stock on a European beauty website. Within days, it was gone again. SJP's perfumes tend to be a cut above other celebrity offerings, in particular the modern classic that is Lovely, and Stash is another such example. Perfectly unisex, it is a good quality woody scent, bolstered by peppery spices and featuring a nice amber base. Some of the musk from Lovely is in there too - a nice touch. The bottle is great - reminiscent of an expensive bottle of cognac (or indeed the old apothecary bottles as intended), "stashed" in a drawstring bag.

Stash is woody from the start, bolstered by some spicy black pepper and herbal nuances. It is quite aromatic here - pretty masculine. The wood is rich and realistic, smelling freshly-hewn and well-rounded. There is no harshness here. The wood really comes to the fore as the top notes fade, joined by an unmistakable pistachio note. This is an unusual and inspired addition - the green nuttiness enhances and complements the woody notes beautifully. The florals are very subtle, but I get a hint of ginger.

As it dries down, a pinch of patchouli adds typical earthiness while the amber accord emerges in the background. Softly sweet and incense-like, Stash reminds me here of polished church pews - woody until the end. I'm unsure of the smell of Massoia wood, but the woodiness throughout is excellent - smooth, realistic and never harsh. It fades to a musky-woody skin scent, rich and warm until final fade. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting.

A cosy, unisex woody scent, this smells much more expensive than it is. Beautiful for autumn/winter days. It is possibly the best celebrity scent I've tried. A real shame if it has truly been discontinued. 4/5.

Steve Prosper

I utterly refuse to buy celebrity anything. It's NEVER worth it.This was my first celebrity fragrance and it's likely my last. Just having an actor's name on a product does NOT guarantee it's any good but it DOES guarantee you'll pay a premium for that name even if the juice is dumper sewage. Sorry, not sorry.

I REALLY wanted to like this as the note breakdown sounded like something i'd like. The whole celebrity side of this bothers me a bit more now.

I wore this to a function today. Nice dress shirt, sport jacket, etc and the first "compliment" I received was from a friend's wife who asked, and I'm quoting "What smells like a kid barfed in some potpourri?" she then sniffed me and said "I think you got something spilled on you somewhere."

When I told her to smell my arm and asked if that was the smell she nodded and said it was kinda barfy and she was NOT a fan.

My GF thinks it is kinda nice at a distance but up close she really doesn't like it.

I'll put this on the back shelf for a while to macerate and maybe come back to it in the fall to give it another try but for now it's a 3-4/10 for the frag but the presentation is actually really cool.

***Will also come back and update this when I do.

quelledame

This fragrance took up permanent residency in my unwitting brain the moment I smelled it. I could not decide how or if I liked it for the life of me. My apartment smelled like Stash for weeks as I spritzed a little here and there, hemmed and hawed about it, and come to no conclusive thoughts whatsoever. Stash is intensely astringent and woody with only a small relief of softness flittering through with the pistachio and Massoia. It smells like a mortar filled with the ground offerings for a nameless, ancient earth god. I feel as though I could strike up communion with some solemn forest wraith when I wear it. If I was trapped in a sentient, vengeful wood, I think Stash could conceal my human scent from the reaching limbs and roots of murderous tree spirits.

It took me eight months to realize that Stash has been lurking in my olfactive memory waiting for me to realize just how f****** good it is. What a shame that it was discontinued.

(ETA: For those wondering why it was discontinued, IFRA banned Massoia wood in 2018.)

Corban Lucas

Been waiting for this one ever since it was mentioned in a video by Sebastian and Dana. Classy, spicy, woody with that added creamy nuttiness from the pistachio note. The scent profile reminds me of Encre Noire Extreme but not as bold or masculine.

Because of that, don't be afraid to wear this in the warmer months. This scent blossoms in the heat and smells wonderful.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last too long on my skin; becomes a skin scent after a couple hours but that's okay with me. I'll just reapply.

This can easily be a signature scent for anyone.

rowan.walters

Complimented a lady friend wearing this ("you smell like a sorceress") and she sent me a bottle.
This is really good. Luxurious and seductive. Bewitching.
Like a magic potion. Woody, nutty, resinous, rich.
Sexy.
My impression: Cedar is prominent - a bit like Femininité du Bois in that regard - enriched and enhanced by Massoia, pistachio compliments the woods beautifully, patchouli adds warmth and sweetness, frankincense (or an incense accord) imparts resinous depth and, with vetiver, anchors the composition through the dry down.
The dry down is the best part.

Like "blue for boys, pink for girls", the Victorian convention of "woods for men, florals for women" is a relic of a bygone era.
Some women seem to consider woody fragrances “masculine” but there’s something utterly captivating about a confident woman wearing a woody sandalwood, cedar or vetiver fragrance (viz. Bois des Iles, Samsara, Sycomore, Fémininité du Bois, etc.)

Stash is a great little cheapie and one of the better celebrity frags.

A unique, beautiful fragrance wearable by anyone with a pulse.
Love it.

Update:
Stash sits fairly close after the first hour or so but persists as a skin scent for ages.

It seems to perform significantly better on my friend’s skin than it does on mine as I can still detect a trail when she moves, hours after application.
Your mileage may vary.

There’s something extremely sexy, seductive and alluring about this fragrance - it’s certainly one of the most unusual cedar-forward fragrances I’ve ever encountered and there’s a facet to this composition that, to my nose, suggests something supremely erotic.
Like a lady’s boudoir after a night of passion.

The blurb notes that the perfumer’s brief included “body odours” … a long-standing tradition in the fine art of perfumery: a century before Etat Libre’s Sécrétions Magnifiques, Jacques Guerlain’s most famous perfumes were inspired by the sweaty, post-coital crotch of his mistress.

Others have mentioned that Stash features a “skin” accord - which would certainly correspond to the mysteriously sexy note that I’m having trouble identifying. Whatever it is it’s very seductive.

In any case, this is a fabulous fragrance and the dry down is heavenly. Totally unisex, this is easily wearable by anyone.

PS: Stash is evidence that an astonishing number of people on Fragrantica have no idea what sandalwood smells like.
Lost count of the times I’ve seen this described as a sandalwood fragrance. It’s CEDAR - not sandalwood!

*loves_shoes*

At first sniff I thought, woah, strong, masculine! But it’s not. At all. It just has an initial strong peppery woody opening. That goes very quickly.
In reality it’s spicy, warm, woody, aromatic and lovely.
In under 20 mins it’s already softer, like a soft wood with vetiver giving it a fresh edge.
Reminds me very much of a Gris Charnel type of fragrance, not the same of course, I mean Gris is amazing, but it definitely has that vetiver-wood vibe going on, without the nice sandalwood. Stash is a stronger harsher deeper wood scent.and spicier
Its good for the price. But. It’s not one of the fragrances that when it’s discontinued you need to be spending a fortune on eBay for fear of missing out. Put your pennies towards Gris Charnel instead.
Also nowhere near as smooth or sandalwoody as Santal blush, I don’t really get sandalwood at all here.

qristoffer

100ml bottles available from Fragrancebuy.ca
$36.49 usd…. Your welcome!

shannfernando

This starts off like a Red rum and Coke and then continues to get drier and woodier… like the barrel the rum was drained out of is now completely bone dry but still has the pungent scent of the rum! The olibanum (incense) is so beautiful when mixed in with the extreme woodiness of this.

Why on earth do perfume houses discontinue their true genius works?! Grab this while you still can!

RJ Watson

Stash has been officially axed. I just received confirmation from the company, via an Instagram direct message. Enjoy it while you can. 😭

Thankfully, I was able to score 2 back-up bottles before the prices get ridiculous.

hanginglimbs

I haven't compared them side by side, but my initial thought is that this hits like Roja Dove Reckless Pour Homme with patchouli and dialed up amber. Similar not-quite-mentholated, not quite fresh spicy/woody feel. Maybe this is what Clive Christian X Twist Patchouli smells like

KirstenRose

Am I the only one who feels like this has a butterscotch dry down? I’m no scent pro, and maybe there’s a better word for this. It’s almost like a rum cake? I usually don’t go for food type scents. I would call it a beautiful blend of woody and rum/bourbon. Delish!

Nocciola23

At first I found this to be much more masculine leaning but now I can appreciate its unisex appeal.
On first spray it's quite strong and peppery then I get a solid liquorice note of the olibanum (frankincense). There's something about olibanum in perfumes that I really love. It's quite addictive. After awhile the creaminess comes through and I can appreciate the perfume more.
This is perfect for a winter night as it has such a cosy feel. I was considering buying it for my husband but now I think I might buy it for myself.

Longevity:11/10 - I literally have to wash this off me and/or wash my clothes to remove its scent.

Nice_one

Stashed this cheapy gem up with lots of backup bottles (already) a few years ago ;-)
For me it leans more to the masculine side.
It gives a nice bubble around you and on clothes it can last for days.
It can also be cloying pending of the amount of sprays used and pending on which season used.
I wear this all year round during day and night.

Catmo

This smells almost identical to Le Labo Santal 33 to me. I wanted to see what everyone was talking about and it's so incredibly hard to find for a decent price so I just went for it. I already have Le Labo so I guess I didn't need this- but did not see anybody mention that the two were practically the same.

CRiche

I found the perfume and perfume oil dirt cheap in Dubai. It’s nice! I think I will experiment with layering it. I just went online and bought several more bottles because I’m reading it’s discontinued? I LOVE a discontinued fragrance. Somehow it makes it more desirable 😜

lipstickzombie

This is giving me Sehr Kalemat/Kalemat Black vibes, a fresh woody oriental. I like this a little bit more than Kalemat Black since this isn't as sweet as that one. Only drawback is it has only almost 5 hours lifespan on my skin and moderate sillage with 2 sprays while Kalemat Black lasts almost 10 hours and massive sillage at 2 (gotta learn to rein myself to not overspray that one). This one costs 10 usd at a discount site in my place when I bought it so it's a big steal, I might buy the gift set with the body oil and roller perfume next.

Cree

I went to the website and I don’t see this with the “”coming soon” “status as someone stated below..soooooo I say PANIC! Lol

shalimaraddict

This is the ONLY celebrity perfume I like. It smells like niche quality. It is such a lovely sandalwood perfume that is unisex (I’m a man). The only problem is that it seems to be hard to find, in Canada at least.

WizKhalifa420Life

Banger. woody goodness for girls and guys, so hope on the train before it's too late!

zind

I'm so late to the party, but I finally got to try this after receiving it in a swap. Judging by the notes I was expecting it might be too woody, dry and sharp for me, but there is enough sweetness to make this a very creamy, round scent that is quite easy to wear. It's gorgeous and the pistachio might be just the thing that brings the whole compositions together. Longevity is extremely good as well. Everything has been said already, I guess I just have to join the love side of this and leave it at that. Gorgeous!

Udacha

Simple, honest and unique - Love from the fist wisp of scent , reminded me Cloud but more grownup and balanced..Love Love Love

Jicky1982

This is - Sexy, Roman Catholic Church smell nestled next to a cedar-pine forest lol. It literally smelled like Roman Catholic Church incense with a lot skin musk and cedar.

This makes me think of Nun coming out of a church filled with incense - walking thru a cedar/pine forest to find a sexy lumberjack to have a taboo rendezvous, lol. Church incense and sexy/skin musk are an odd combo.

It is soothing in a way tho because it puts me in the mind of a quiet church. It is also sexy in a woody skin scent kind of way - if that’s what u like. Fairly unisex. Sits close to the skin. But its a longevity monster - it lasts forever

Something about it also makes me think of Christmas because of the church incense/ and piney resinous quality. Reminds me of Nuit de Noel in that way. I would only wear it in fall or winter.

It’s not really for me to be honest. But I may keep it just for Christmas time because that’s the only time I like it lol.

shannfernando

This is the most unique woody perfume I own. Certainly not in the celebrity perfume realm! It’s in a league of its own! Truly wonderful!

Do not blind buy as it’s challenging for a palette that hasn’t experienced many perfumes.

Men!!!! Don’t sleep on this just coz it’s done by a female celebrity! This is stunning on any man!

Lasting power is about 6-8 ish hours and projection is not so great, about a half a foot. There’s a lovely sillage though! But if you’re not a constant beast mode seeker and can appreciate the artistic facets of perfumery, then by all means buy it!

Lucky7z

I remember when I had a sample tester of this and it was horrid on me!!
I smelled like a riccola coughdrop doused in black pepper lol this is the only perfume of Sarahs' I don't like.

*I believe this is discontinued so if you happen to come across this just know this is not a safe blind buy.

Ferra_Verto

Woody cacophany; smooth and spicy, leans a bit vintage. The light clean fruitiness is fleeting at the beginning, delves straight into woody goodness.
A bit austere but a bit provocative, straddles the fence between the two very well.
Lasts quite a while, 8+hrs at least with a good sillage.
Perfect for autumn and winter, though I think you could pull this off in (cooler) spring temps too.
Definitely recommend.

gtabasso

top notes were citrus and sweet then quickly went into amber then Indian spices and pepper, reminds of Serge Lutens at 1/3 the price

cklostreich

Dry cedar, patchouli, yes - settles into a slightly indolic musk. I highly enjoy these types of fragrances, came as a sample. If you like this, I highly suggest trying Theorodus Kalonitis' 1989.

fangpili

I really like Lovely but this? Smells musky in a bad way and cheap on me so not a successful blind buy. While I'm fond of Mugler patchouli use, I often don't like it when it's overdone, so I suspect that note is the main culprit here

Irfie

I'm surprised how no one has mentioned how close this is to Dunhill Icon Elite (Black bottle).

This is a 1:1 almost identical to Dunhill Icon Elite.

Lorna51

A stunning, magical and truly mesmerizing scent in a sturdy, well crafted, sleek and chic bottle. initial spray is kind of masculine and strong wherein the olibanum is quite deep and intense in this juice. This is a unisex scent but not a typical feminine one, rather this is daring, brave and is perfect for a confident male or female. A women may wear it and feel completely confident and a men may wear it to smell divine. The dry down is best part in this with exotic spices and pepper. Floral notes are also there which keeps the smoothness and freshness of scent intact while being a warm one due to blend of spices too. Vibe is niche and unique, longevity is just amazing, silage is though moderate on my skin. Complex, amazing yet unique blend of notes in this beautiful scent tends to elevate such that making is a scent beyond any of the celebrity perfumes while knocking out several perfumes in market. Unbelievably fantastic juice in an expensively presented bottle. totally unbelievable. Must try this one at least once. Enjoy.

This hasn’t been discontinued! I reached out to the SJP Collection on IG. There’s just been production delays due to covid!

Which means I can stop stockpiling now, would hate for this to be discontinued! One of the best fragrances I’ve ever come across.

Still gives me old church vibes with the incense and wood!

Paintedlily

She’s a little bit dirty
…and I like it.

I love the unapologetic nature of this. It’s spicy, gritty/dirty, woody and warm. And my God she’s loyal…over 24 hours and she’s still going strong (dry skin in dry climate).

Opens with the heat of peppercorn that catches you at the back of your throat. Then a rush of strangely enticing unwashed skin (amber and patchouli) mixed with warm resinous woods.

This honestly makes me think of someone doing “the walk of shame”, but without any shame…just enjoying every minute of it. Go ahead and stare and judge, it’ll just make her smile bigger.

WGG

Imagine a bakers where they accidentally mixed the gingerbread and banana bread then blend a warm milkshake with the result. Sounds terrible but I like this. Weirder again, 30ml is selling at £15 on ebay right now which is double what I paid three years ago at TK Maxx on the clearance shelf.
Basically this is quite different and will challenge your nose, best word I can find for it is 'fun', and even if you spend that sort of money what have you lost?

Who’s in mourning with me that this has been discontinued! I don’t know how I’ll ever replace the spot it held in my collection…

luluatte

Stash is a comforting fragrance. The top notes slightly reminds me of Hillary Duff With Love. Then it dries down to a beautiful incense smell, evoking my childhood memories where my parents lit the frankincense incenses around the house. Due to the association, I prefer this as a room fragrance rather than as a body perfume. The bottle and the colour of the juice looks like whisky, love it.

Mr. Boston

Slight resemblance to Santal 33, but comes across more like Amouage Meander meets Kilian Sacred Wood. Sandalwood dominant. This one surprised me, it is quite good for a designer/celebrity frag. Not that it matters, but I’m a man and this one does not feel feminine to me at all.

MnM

I was expecting it to wow me... it didn't. It's a woody/sage frag. dries down very light into something like a spice men's soap. smells like soap.
No, it does not smell like santal 33.

DESJava

Ohh what a beauty!. Blind bought it from the local store. I paid €4 /30ml. The beginning is strong woody retro/vintage kind of fragrance, but boy the dry down is amazing. I can't stop sniffing my wrist. It is so creamy, velvety and somehow it remind me of Paulo Santo from spiritual store(wood you burn to cleanse the house). I guess it's the sage🥰❤

amandawilliamspalmer

Smells great. Excellent value for money.

obssessedsniffer

Very nice smell. Sprayed a some on my jacket over a week ago and still getting strong whiffs of it. Almost smells likes I spilled the whole bottle on myself. That’s literally how strong it is.

eric.cius

Saw a 30ml for really cheap, with all the great reviews I had to try this one.
First off I don't find this one unique, doesn't mean it's bad, it just shares similarities with a few perfumes. At first spray I'm instantly reminded of Azarro Visit for men. The cedar, the cold dryness, even that dill pickle hit it gives. Stash doesn't have the nutmeg though. It's also similar to the original Book by commodity and this also had a strong resemblance to Santal 33.
Is stash a clone to any of these? No. But it's definitely in the same family. The longevity is better than visit, on par with book but weaker than Santal 33. This is a really really good fragrance for a celebrity fragrance and for the price. The only other celebrity fragrance I like this much is Pharrell Williams Girl. If you have Book or Santal 33 then there is no need for this unless money is the issue but if you like visit and find it's performance lacking then this is the way to go.
In terms of gender, imo this is a man's fragrance.

Sweetfemme

Smells like your standing in a middle of a forest chopping up some wood…I absolutely love this! Perfect for fall and winter.

If you love woody fragrances I highly recommend!

Oregonclaire

It's probably already been said, but I feel like Stash is the fragrance SJP wanted to make when she first came out with Lovely. In Chandler Burr's book The Perfect Scent, she describes her personal scent as CdG Avignon plus Bonne Bell Skin Musk and Egyptian Musk, and well ... here we are. If you haven't read the book, do, it's great. So is this perfume, especially the "Hair & Body elixir" version, which has Eternal-level staying power on my skin.

Victoria99

Kind of surprised by this, I thought it would be more.. something. It doesn't smell bad, it brought up a scent memory from when I was little of the older men at church or driving to church and smelling my grandpa. Big on the aromatic/herb side... not as much on the patchouli or cedar for me, which is what I was looking forward to. I wish it stayed in the opening and middle stages longer, which are complex and fairly woody. It goes into drydown quickly which is maybe the vetiver. I could see this being great for layering. For now, it reminds of me of going to church as a kid. Great unisex!

karlee79

Love this perfume so much , smells like Caprina Milk bath reminds me of Egypt

blauriche

I'm a fan. Great for layering as well. Wearing with Ambre Nuit tonight. I'm surprised it's kind of divisive, my friends seem to love it as well.

talkaboutscents

Just coming here again (original review below somewhere) to say that this is still UNIQUE to this day, I am yet to come across a scent that smells similar. (Not talking about "reminds me of", talking about really "similar").

And to this day this is still the best deal I made in terms of price paid and value received for a perfume. Absolute niche quality of a blend and scent, total winner.

karinatfragrantica

Wow - this is amazing! Warm, woody, slightly spicy yet elegant and wearable. And value for money is excellent. The perfect fall scent and definitely one of my best blind buys ever. Bravo SJP!

S@turnus

I couldn’t help but wonder, Has fear of being alone …oh sorry 😊stash is absofu*****utely sexy, mysterious, dark and intense! Cheap and fab! I love it

Emera1d

Cedar and black pepper are definitely the most stand out notes in Stash. It has an almost boozy quality to it on the initial spray which quickly disappears to give way to a very strong woodiness. It would have been a realistic cabin in the woods smell if it weren't for the black pepper, which I feel dominates and not in a good way. I agree that it smells way more expensive than it is and is very different then most celebrity scents. Not sure how wearable it is though. I will have to wear it more and see if it grows on me but it doesn't feel like a great start. It leans masculine, I think because of the pepper. The woodsy smell coming through under the black pepper is smooth and gorgeous though. Let's hope it will come through more in the dry down.

piratelemons

Blown away. Opens sweet and spicy, nipping at the nose. It fights to stay, and dries down over the hours to a soft warmth. I'm a huge fan of ELDO Rien and the intensity of this reminds me of that scent, maybe a twinge more feminine and not at darkly sharp. I'm very happy that I own a large bottle of this since I believe it is discontinued; really looking forward to using it in cooler months.

Christian77

I’m wearing this as I type this. I have maybe eight or ten backup bottles.

I don’t have the words for a thorough review right now, or at least not for one that does this fragrance any justice. So rich, creamy yet dry; beautiful and mysterious, straddling designer and niche so well that it’s eminently wearable… addictive.

And it’s an SJP scent. Like lightning in a cloudless sky, this one. And I’m so very grateful.

sheepra60

I ordered this online in Canada and it's been sitting since shipping in a dark cool spot, in the box. When I first received it, I sprayed and got a "stale aftershave" smell. So left it, tried again then left it once more, sprayed to clear nozzle, sprayed a tester strip, me and clothing...same smell.

I love woods, oakmoss, leathers but wondering if I got a fake. I know from raving reviews that I'm missing something.
The batch code is 17019 by Lovely Distribution. Check Fresh doesn't have Lovely Distribution registered.
The old SJP only had a 4 digit code.

Would appreciate anyone's help vis PM.

Edit:
It's now mid Nov and tested again. I think it's just too masculine scent for my chemistry. I'm very curious to try the new Jennifer Lopez "One" as it's supposed to be similar to Stash maybe with less masculinity.

Eternity Girl

Im feel the same as Angel6. I find Stash stale and depressing. I love the bottle and the concept but it just doesn't work for me which is disappointing. I have 2 bottles of the stuff and will give them to someone else one day.

LSAUG

I still have a roller ball of this. I went through 1 full roller ball. This is strong and long lasting but I can't wear it anymore and should find someone to give my remaining roller ball. It is a beautiful spicy, woody fragrance that either a man or a woman can wear but it gives me headaches when I wear it and I don't know why. Also my husband never warmed up to this one for some reason. He love YSL Opium and CK's Obsession and this one while not the same as those it is in the similar family. My hairdressers assistant liked this on me when I wore it and I think I will gift her the practically brand new roller ball I have left. If you like intense spicy, woody fragrances that are long lasting and are unisex try to find it (it has been discontinued) and give it a try.

French Duke

If I travelled back in time and told my past self that I would one day really like a fragrance by Sarah Jessica Parker I would have questioned my life choices from that point on. I almost scoffed when my wife suggested I tried this but holy crap this is a precocious little starlet - definitely more SanDeE in LA Story than Carrie in Sex...

The fact that this is so cheap is mind boggling; it smells like a niche fragrance worth four times its price. The cedar in this is deluxe but it does get a bit funky in the dry down. So as a 40-something man this wins a prize for least expected scent over which to obsess. If you like an elegant and woody with a lean to amber fougere then this is a no brainer.

angel6

A very generous fragrantica friend sent me a huge vial, just as well I didn't blind bought it, and it shows that everybody has a different taste, here is a very loved perfume, and for me smells stale and depressing, this is the feelings that gives me. It doesn't smell bad it just not my taste.

bel.gravia

So unique woody and boozy. Why was it discontinued? Its like a rich family's heritage style wooden library and a glass of whiskey or rum, in a dim light. For £15-£20 per 100ml (while it lasts, the prices will sky rocket soon) Stash is UNBELIEVABLE.

Mdrew99

Every August I start to mentally prepare for my favorite season, fall. I was shopping for a Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap when I saw their newest addition for the upcoming season, Acorn Spice.
I wanted to let y’all know that Acorn Spice smells almost exactly like Stash! If anything, it smells a tad more nutty but almost a dead ringer! They make it in a hand soap, dish soap, candle, multi-surface cleaner spray, and a room spray!

ellisosb

It's a good scent. Smells more expensive than it is.

Best way I can describe it: It's like if Santal 33 and Tom Ford Noir Extreme had a baby, added ginger, and spent SEVEN LONG YEARS trying to get over Mr. Big, but to no avail.

laurafergs

I love this. There is something very beguiling about it - understated is the best way to explain it. Nothing shouts in this fragrance. It has a quiet self-possession that doesn’t parade or pose, but instead stands confidently without drawing attention to itself.

The Bonne Belle musk is there in the base, unobtrusive and pleasant, floating on top is this delightfully balanced black pepper-grapefruit-olibanum-patchouli melange that just works. It is so calm and worn-in. It won’t be for everyone; sweet it is not. But it is wildly good value. Worth a blind-buy ~just because~.

Obliiviin

This is plain hot. Hot on a man, hot on a woman. It goes on spicy and woody. Pepper gives a nice spice, but also a hint of aromatic floral like you would get from a recently cracked peppercorn. The ginger lily provides a floral note with a hint of gingery spice. The ginger lily also gives balances the traditionally masculine notes with the floral note. The cedar and sage compliment the spices to give a bit of freshness. There is cedar here, but I would describe it as very subdued. There is no pistachio. Its complex but everything comes full circle. I think its only available August-Janurary which is exactly when you want this kind of fragrance. This is my signature winter scent. Someone said sexy tree and thats pretty accurate.

Ann Dromeda

This is how I would envision Angelina Jolie in her Maleficent role would smell like.

Powerful. Rooted. Solitary. Enticing.

julheart

Naughty wood elf. Grapefruit in a cedar bowl, smoky sage nearby. A flower behind my ear. Sex on the soft grassy ground in the middle of some woods, massoia, warm and musky and magical. A cousin to Ormonde Woman.

I don't get that this is linear - there's an evolution of dry wood citrus, smoke/sage to warmer musky wood with spice and a floral hint now and then. I don't think it leans masculine either. Unisex for sure. And I would NEVER buy a fragrance bc of a celebrity. This is really just a wonderful fragrance.
I only wish that it were a little more potent. But at this price point (as compared to Ormonde Woman or Amouage, for instance) I can't be disappointed.
I do want more, much more, of this.
Big A** Bottle buy for sure.

sky76sky

£10 blind buy. Totally worth it.

Warm, syrupy cedar scent with a ginger twist.

I’m more used to hard hitters like Amouage so the silage & staying power are lacking, but the scent itself is pretty in a warm & woodsy way. It shares DNA with Hilary Duff With Love.

Perfect little cheapy for liberal spraying.

olfactorydarling

This is incredible. Holy heck. Sexy, unisex.

Erica.Cass

Warm, inviting, sexy and alluring! I plain love it! Smells so good on my skin!

aes08290

I purchased this because I like a masculine leaning fragrance in the colder months. I applied 2 sprays and had a guest over to my house. My guest physically threw up from the smell. It smells like a dirty hamster cage and sour rotted citrus. Avoid at all costs.

louiee

Smells almost like Jazz club from Maison Margiela.
This one is a fragment of the price and just as good....maybe even better.

Warm, sexy masculine energy. Unisex scent for fall and winter. Dark, comforting and complex.
Powerful pepper, cedar, vertiver, sage on a woody/musky base.

Silage and longevity are strong and longlasting.

bintTapputi

Wow what a surprise! I'd heard that this was good, but didn't have real expectations. But it's really lovely. Complex, warm, inviting and sexy. This is really gorgeous and I'm eager to get a bottle. 8.5/10

toddles

I am in LOVE with Stash! This went from being a like to being a love as soon as I got my first full 1 ounce bottle. Of course it's discontinued now, but I've managed to acquire 2 full large bottles, and I wasn't going to review it until I had stock piled enough, lol. I am totally addicted to it, and I won't let myself finish off the first little bottle because it looks great. This is the first woody aromatic that I've fallen in love with.

ELB78

I’m on my second bottle of Stash. This stuff is so good. When I wear this I feel more independent, unique and sexy. It also lets me give off a attitude of moodiness and indifference, which I find enjoyable and needed on the right day. Dark, rich and woody. But still having a fresh greenness. Love it.

Elsee

QUICK UPDATE: STILL loving both the spray and the oil (oil a bit more) and honestly ladies or guys, I think I'm becoming addicted. It's crazy. I literally crave this scent now.

LOVE IT! If you haven't tried it yet -- do it! It has addictive super powers, I'm sure of it! :)

Happy spring.

senorajoselina

Tonight is my first time wearing this... the first couple of hours were very cedar forward. “That’s nice,” I thought, “there are times when I’d like to smell like a forest.” But now an eau de naughty thing is happening and it’s amazing. It’s very sexy!

hexed

Makes me feel like a sexy tree
