I have the current formulation. I do not find this overly heavy if sprayed or dabbed with a light hand. I happily wear this to the office very sparingly applied.

It is a heady white floral, but it is very bright and not conventionally sexy. I would not call this squeaky clean, however - the cumin note, which I find light and non-sweaty, makes this more interesting. It is a pretty scent. I mostly get jasmine as well, but it is backed by tuberose and what I perceive as orange blossom (orange trees do not thrive in my climate so I'm not overly familiar with the scent).

While Fleurs d'Oranger reminds me of many other non-skanky white florals, it is not as watercolor as, say, Do Son. I enjoy the small suggestion of skank in this, but it is not a challenging or overly complicated scent on my skin. I am happy to have it in my collection.

SweetPeaPea

Right away the cumin note spoils this one for me, at least on my skin. I get that hint of B.O. in the opening.. Definitely not one of the reasons I choose to wear fragrances.. I could just not shower for a day and accomplish the same effect. Hopefully that note will die down cause everything else about this juice is lovely.

So the cumin note does settle down. Scent is such a weird thing. While smelling this on my forearm I had a flashback to the smell of my grandmother. Don't let that scare you because she was a very classy lady. Maybe she wore this or something like it. Could be another jasmine forward perfume, and the smokiness of the cumin... She smoked Carlton 120’s like a chimney. Something about this definitely reminds me of her. Will at least keep a decant around for that purpose ☺️.

Applies indolic jasmine/orange blossom flowers. Deep, realistic, and not too feminine - what I look for. Rain on dewy green stems builds while white florals have raw bite.

The natural plant element gets replaced by dry shampoo, which is a bummer. Warmth slowly builds and pairs well. Projection radiates ideal floral, but up close is brisk soap.

Overall, it tries…but falters. Alternatives succeed at what this strives for. It’s med/good, but effort is better spent elsewhere. Still worth trying if you’re obsessed with the genre, but make sure to try these (possibly superior) alternatives:

Amouage “Opus VII”
Jo Malone London “Orange Blossom”
Marissa Zappas “Flaming Creature”
Bois 1920 “Come L'Amore”
Kilian “Love and Tears”
Pierre Guillaume “Drama Nuui 23”
Serge Lutens “A La Nuit”

I am in search for the perfect orange blossom fragrance, looking through sky and earth hoping to find it. Orange blossom is probably my favorite note of all time, especially since it reminds me of my childhood. My uncles had orange tree orchards in their farmlands, and I would roam the whole acres of land, smelling the divine scent of orange blossoms in full bloom. I own quite a couple of orange blossom fragrances that I love, and have tried quite a couple of them from decants. While searching for the best orange blossom fragrances, I came across Fleurs d’oranger by Serge Lutens. Everywhere I read, everyone would praise this fragrance and categorize it as one of the best orange blossom fragrances you could possible get. So I went ahead and bought a decant, to see if this was true and if I had finally found the perfect orange blossom scent. Unfortunately, that was not the case with this one. At first sniff, I said to myself, “where is the orange blossom? All I smell is jasmine and tuberose”. And it was not a light and fresh floral scent, but an extremely heavy, indolic floral. At first I even thought this smelled way to “mature” for me to wear, and perhaps I still do. Yet I still gave it a chance and gave it a wear. I must say, it did grow on me and now I don’t mind it and can actually enjoy it. I do get the cumin note people talk about, but it does not bother me at all. I find it makes it interesting. It is not a note that lingers too much, though, which is a good thing for most. Yet, even though I do like it now and can appreciate it, I honestly cannot say that I would call this an orange blossom fragrance. I feel like orange blossom is not the protagonist here, at least not to my nose, which knows the smell of it well. I would call this simply a white floral, with heavy and indolic notes of ripe jasmine and tuberose, with perhaps orange blossom thrown in the mix. I cannot smell neroli at all in this. Maybe it is me? Maybe it is my decant? Who knows, truly. Do I think this is a bad perfume? Absolutely not. I can really appreciate the quality of the fragrance and the beauty of it. It has a decent lasting power and silage too. This is not a fresh floral, it is more of a floral used in cooler weather or cooler conditions. Perhaps I am just used to different orange blossoms? Perhaps I prefer the more fresh and sweet scent and cannot make it out on this one because it is so different? Perhaps this is a different interpretation of it. Beautiful perfume, just not what I was looking for in an orange blossom fragrance.

I just bought this so I have the newest formulation. Fleurs d’Oranger is a classic, lovely, very feminine white flowers perfume. It’s orange, tuberose and jasmine notes dance beautifully together, with each one at times taking the lead. Even so, it is very linear, not a lot of development or change, and very stable and predictable on me. None of these white flowers are particularly indolic or skanky, as they can sometimes be. This is a sanitized and gentle version. I get no cumin or sweat notes. The white flowers rest on a cushy bed of musk and wood, which is just there to offer support. Fleurs d’Oranger has good sillage and will envelop the wearer in a pretty fog of white flowers. It lasts a long time, at least 12 hours. I find it quite feminine and think it’s an excellent value. It’s not groundbreaking or earth shattering, it is what it says it is and it’s done well. Serge Lutens is so good at these type of fragrances. I might call this a white flowers for beginners perfume. A gateway drug into white flowers, if you will.

I checked the notes before buying and because only a few people noticed the cumin i thought it wouldn’t stand out as much as it does.
Yikes.
Cumin to me can either smell like a dark herbal spice or like sweat. To me, it smells like creamy orange blossom, white flower….and sweat.
Not a safe blind buy if you’re *this* sensitive to cumin as I am.

AnlisaC

At first this can be a punch in the face with the orange blossom, neroli and citrus notes! It is a spring offering for sure, and for a niche fragrance long lasting! This can be headache inducing for some if you aren’t into white florals. I myself have always loved SL fragrances since the early 2000. I have most of them and even have the releases that went into the bell jars.

You will be noticed with this fragrance and this projects more than an arms length. It does come off a bit honeyed once on skin. If you love the “reminds me”area which has Houbigant Oranger fragrance than you will love this! Recommended 7/10 only because it can be headache inducing! I myself will wear only in spring but to cloying for summer!

Absolutely beautiful! 😍🥰

I don't get those awful things people said like sweat, dirty unshowered and cigarettes actually in my case it's quite opposite.
This is ultimate orange blossom/white flowers perfume that is so pretty, innocent, clean and bright.
When I smell this one I imagine the most beautiful late spring day, full sun, everything is in bloom and lush green.
I really enjoy this one so once I get through my sample I will purchase a full bottle for sure.

UPDATE: Only 1 out of 7 of my friends like this one 😄
Usually they say it's too strong floral in your face and old lady smell.
I hate when other people influence me with their comments (I asked for them 🤦🏻♂️) but I will try to follow only my taste and nose. 🙃

Greendoll2

This is not a pretty, citrusy neroli. This is a musty, sweaty, almost cigarette-like neroli. I appreciate a different take on such a ubiquitous note, but the cumin really doesn’t agree with my skin. To me, it has a similar sort of rancid undercurrent as Goutal’s Matin d’Orage.

DesertFlower2021

Love it! As an orange blossom lover and the owner of many of orange blossom perfumes this one is my first choice in autumn/winter time.

Taurien

I have this perfume thanks to a lovely companion of passion who was kind enough to sell me her pre-reformulation partial. And how beautiful it is! It's been on my wishlist for so long and it hasn't disappointed me one bit. I would say it is the most beautiful orange blossom perfume I own at the moment.

This is a very natural and elegant perfume, almost a sweet orange blossom soliflore that contains subtle spicy nuances that make the enjoyment of wearing it enormous in my case. They are there without ever taking over the floral part of the perfume.

I think it will only appeal to lovers of strong florals and, particularly, orange blossom.

It has a good sillage without being invasive and lasts on my skin for more than 12 hours, it remains eternally on clothes.

When I wear it, it makes me feel elegant, clean and feminine, but without stridency or ostentation. I wear it very happily in work meetings, for example, since I also find it to be a happy fragrance that conveys serenity.

For me it is an essential in my collection from now on, I just hope that if I have to replace it in a reformulated version it hasn't changed much.

The opening is incredibly photorealistic, like you just walked into Monet’s Garden. It smells sweeter and lighter than Florgasm by Heretic, but it feels very similar with the jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose.

I ordered this hoping that it would smell similar to Lush’s Revive hair mask, but it’s a bit sweeter and less herbal than Lush.

It’s truly an incredibly pretty smell, but I don’t think I love it enough to purchase it and want to wear it. I would prefer Goutal’s Le Chevrefeuille as a good floral spring/summer scent.

shannybaby

Beautiful orange blossom fragrance! Sadly my skin chemistry might not be right for it. Will be exploring other similar options for this reason but this is a great one to sample !!

Mystinguette

I could sing the praises of Fleurs d'Oranger all day! It's a glorious experience. It's one of the most beautiful orange blossom perfumes (if not THE best) I've experienced. It's masterfully composed and blended with excellent longevity and moderate sillage. This was the first Lutens fragrance I purchased, while in Paris years ago. It was love at first sniff. It's such a unique orange blossom scent, and never fails to elicit queries and compliments from strangers. It's appropriate for all seasons and all occasions, day or night. It's my understanding that Serge Lutens no longer distributes their perfumes in the States. Thankfully, they are still available at discounters, as well as on the secondary market. I would purchase as many backups as you can afford, however. Because once that inventory is gone, it may be very difficult to source in the US.

Longevity = 6-8h
Sillage = moderate

Mademoiselle Rêve

A pleasant and likeable perfume, but to me the main white flower-orange blossom accord smells too synthetic. If you are familiar with natural essential oils and especially French perfumes that use those, you will know what I mean. It is a matter of personal preference, I love the aromatherapy feeling coming from natural high quality ingredients, and maybe they are here, but something overshadows them.

Nye.Lo

I've looked for SO LONG for a true orange blossom and jasmine perfume. The wait is finally over, this is it.
Having moved abroad I missed the experience of smelling the fresh smell of Jasmine and Orange blossom that I was brought up with as a mediteranean woman.
Every spritz of this perfume on my skin and I am in my grandmother's garden at night enjoying orange blossom perfumed cakes.

ClevelandLove

The florals are profound and I want to love this SO BADLY, but I can't wear it because of the cumin. Oh, that f'king cumin. It's like being at a spectacular wedding where every detail is perfect. The music, the decorations, the service, all of it executed in sublime taste with such grace. You're surrounded by gorgeous people in beautiful clothing and everyone is smiling. And then there is the drunk guy. He's shouting absurdities at full volume, his pants fly is down and a little ass crack is showing every time he bends over laughing at whatever unfunny thing he says. You look around and think to yourself "Why?! Almighty Lord, why is this a*hole HERE of all places?!" And of course, security doesn't boot him out for the entire event....which lasts all day. That....goddamn....cumin.

Subhuman

I can usually detect cumin in a fragrance from ten feet away, if not from Pluto, and I'm getting none in the current version of Fleurs d'Oranger. Pity - I love the idea of a suggestive hint of cumin in an otherwise guileless floral. Still, Fd'O is utterly gorgeous perfume, heavy on rich natural ingredients but with a sunlit clarity that’s almost tonic in effect. There isn't much development here, nor intellectual intrigue, nor esoteric imagery outside of some slightly overripe PR prose. No, Fleurs d'Oranger is a sensualist’s exercise in simple beauty: A reverential treatment of orange blossom, decadent and luminous, buttressed by silky jasmine and green tuberose on a bed of warm skin-like musk. And not much else. If this sounds like a snooze, I don't think you've smelled good orange blossom. I swear this stuff has antidepressant properties, and if not, it’s still one of the most drop-dead beautiful fragrances I’ve ever come across. A must-buy for white floral lovers (it's a relative bargain on discount sites as of this writing), and a must-try for anyone with a working nose. This is what perfume can be!

ginandrice

Supple, mellow, and skin-like.

I get mainly smooth bubblegum tuberose and warm, softly spicy cumin, with an underlying note of tangy neroli that's creamy and slightly green.

I don't get much overt citrus from this at all.

It reminds me of Prada Heat Wave, but with a bit more of a tangy edge than Heat Wave.

I picture a beach-side resort restaurant, just after sunset. The restaurant has a small patio dance floor housed beneath a flowering pergola. The air is close and balmy.

Maya lilac

Wow, this fragrance is unbelievable gorgeous! It’s niche but it’s mass appealing niche. This is not just orange blossom, it’s so much more complex. To me smells like nothing else I have smelled. It smells perfumy but also very natural and ethereal but it is a fragrance that has presence and oomph.

I remember testing it a couple of times during some trips in Paris before pandemic and I loved it but it was quite expensive. I have found it now on an impossible to refuse deal and I have decided it’s time to get it.
I am blown away, it smells incredible, I am absolutely in love with Fleurs d’Oranger. I don’t remember being so amazing.

It is orange blossom mixed with tuberose, neroli and jasmine, a potent hibiscus note and some citruses and woods. Smells like honeyed white flowers. Nothing groundbreaking so far but the result of the blend it definitely is!! It feels spicy as well, probably from cumin, but it is so well blended that I don’t think I want to wear anything else but Fleurs d’Oranger. And it’s not even a winter type of fragrance….

I have lots of white florals combinations in my collection but nothing close to this. This is white flowers on another level! It’s magical.

ScentedAway

Fleur d'Oranger unfolds her character with a revelation of orange peels, blossoms and a touch of cumin — not an isolated pungency but subtle refinement. In my olfactive journey I learned that discerning a well-blended cumin requires a finely tuned, non-discriminatory palate.

While the initial encounter with this complex spice may be daunting, you'll soon discover the beautiful union of powdery floral notes that emerge. That is what I get on Fleur D'oranger, an evocative and uniquely harmonised embodiment that stands alongside Sheldrake's most iconic creations that defined niche perfumery: Arabie, Ambre Sultan, Chergui, Feminite du Bois. I only lament not spending enough time and parting with this prematurely.

montgomery99

This to me is how humans are supposed to smell. It evokes the feeling of beautiful water nymphs and Greek Gods and Goddesses. I imagine the aristocracy of Ancient Greece smelled like this. I won’t describe the scent itself too much, bc it’s been discussed at length here—but I will say that it’s extremely natural and not at all screechy, and unlike other “white floral” scents, the tuberose does not overpower.

stinkysmellysurly

I like this fragrance, I was looking for a relatively strong orange blossom and that's what I got. The jasmine and tuberose are also prominent but supporting to the orange blossom. I don't smell the white rose or woody notes, and only smell the cumin if I really think about cumin. lovely, easy to wear.

dj71

I put this sample on my skin and instantly smelled the cumin, which I am not a fan of. I can pick that note out instantly when I smell it. However, the strong cumin blast in the beginning quickly fades to a very subtle spicy note, with the main note being the white florals. Very nice feminine leaning scent. Classic white florals.

Odor Aeternitatis

I don't know why and how Serge Lutens sells this as a unisex. This is a very feminine scent. I got a small decant of this and wore it one day in my office. I was very embarrassed by smelling like a lady. I did not use it again. Overall, creating a true unisex or masculine fragrance with dominant white floral notes sounds like a very difficult task that even skilled perfumers could not achieve.
6/10

Lom

Beautiful, I love the cumin making everything more unique, and surprising. I get a lot of neroli, and orange blossom of course. I think it can be sexy on a man on a warm summer night.

ArsinoeHelena

I have an old batch, and I adore it. The peppery cumin note is slightly too strong, though. It's a challenge, it almost drowns the delicate sweet orange blossom.
I spray with light finger. Sometimes I make it brighter by layering it with Trussardi Donna or Burberry London.

TheFl0rist

This is a beautiful white floral perfume bended seamlessly! I mostly use it after shower, to prolong the freshness of bath!
Sits close to skin like a luxurious lotion. It's for a demure elegant old money lady! Not flashy, orange blossom with green tuberose freshness with tiny bit of spice. No it’s not identifiable as cumin, I don’t get cumin.

I love it, refined and tasteful.

astrorocks

This is really just a white floral scent with a tiny bit of spice - I don't get any citrus really so I think we are supposed to pay attention to the "Fleurs" and not "'d'Oranger". The point is, if you're looking for an orange/citrus scent, this isn't it. If you're looking for a lovely, close-to-skin white floral with a tiny bit of depth, it's an excellent choice. Reminds me of Gucci Bloom, but with a bit more complexity. This is a compliment because I like simple, clean-smelling white florals as they tend to stay incredibly true-to-scent, do not make my nose itch (am sensitive) and last a long time on my skin. I like Fleurs d'Oranger a lot, too, especially on days I feel uncomplicated and perhaps a bit more youthful (I'm early 30s). This smells like rolling in a bed of flowers then drinking a nice warm ginger or cardamom tea. Very feminine. Sweet, simple, not at risk to being offensive to anyone. It feels like a spring wedding scent for an outdoor bride. I wear this in the summer or spring, on sunny days or in the winter when I want to remember what spring feels like because seasonal affective has kicked in. I personally can't smell the cumin here, but a bit of the woodsy-ness adds a little depth. For me it's a 9/10 because I love a white floral and spicy/woodsy notes. I don't purchase many bottles, but I do own this (and other Serge Lutens, which tend to perform well for me).

WhiteFlowerPrincess

This fragrance is so beautiful, calming, sensual and slightly indolic to my nose. It has all of the facets of the slightly citrusy and white floral orange blossoms and this fragrance smells quite natural to my nose.

I don't just get orange blossom as a note in this though. I also get some slightly lemony white rose, a good dose of sweet tuberose and a generous helping of indolic and queenly jasmine. I smell the musk last of all (but not least of all) in the base. There's a slight spiciness from the cumin too, but I honestly don't smell much cumin in this and I don't smell the wood or the hibiscus in this at all. Then again, everytime I have smelt hibiscus flowers they don't seem to have a smell?

Fleur D'oranger by Serge Lutens is a very feminine fragrance to me and something that I could imagine would be perfect for a bride on her wedding day, especially since orange blossoms are traditional flowers to have in brides bouquets. In my opinion this would be perfect for a princess or a really classy lady, too! I think that you could wear it either day or night and in either spring or summer.

I got medium sillage from this perfume and also a moderate longevity of 5 hours on my skin. I like this perfume very much and I'd give it an 8/10. I'm glad I bought this perfume!

jeissi

The drydown is heaven. Those floral notes finally warming up on skin and becoming one with it ohhhh it looks like the skin itself was always meant to smell like this. 🥰😍

No one:
Serge Lutens: White floral+CUMIN

Why?! Glad I got my decant for cheap. Cannot fathom why anyone would want to smell like cumin.

AuthenticAF

I just recently got this and i love it. Im really into orange right now and this really hits the spot! It is great in performance. I am so impressed! Lots of flowers too but honestly very sensual. This would be great for a date night in summer. I dont get cumin but my nose is not that mature.
Update: after wearing multiple times i love it more and more. I love orange so much , just beautiful!

raiza1990

This is very nice. Fresh, soft and slightly fruity. Smells relaxing and inoffensive. A very pretty perfume. Classy and timeless. You can smell the good quality. That said, the scent is not really groundbreaking. You can find cheaper similars out there. But if you want something that is naturally smelling, then go for this one.

N|ne

I love this fragrance. As a lover of neroli, citrus and most things orange blossom. This is very nice. Reminds me of a laundromat in southern Italy. Very clean

li-di-da

Update:
I realised this is one of the best perfumes I have ever smelled and that it’s for all seasons and all moods and bought this. Also, love the cumin.

A majestic perfume. Not my style but it's a 5/5. It has a kind of golden aura/halo quality for the first hours. The best part is the beautiful dry-down and the traces are a divine soft honey (similar to ‘Fils de joie’).

Good memories for me, linked to smelling white orange blossoms on trees full of dark green leaves as a child. Can have an indolic smell.

Silcina

Wanted to like this so badly, but putting it on is like BECOMING some kind of hybrid jasmine-tuberose flower. It's insane. If you like that, by all means. It's a bit too much for me, but it does last and fade into a gentler skin scent. Very heady, sweet, but sort of fades within 4-5 hours. This is the most FLOWER perfume I have smelled. I mean it truly smells like you are a flower lol.

andiborzi

Finally i bought this one too after La fille de Berlin, but when i tested it i just realized that is very similar with Gianfranco Ferre's In the mood for love.. what i already own.. It's much milder and gones away very quickly after 2-3 hours remains just a subtile soapy skin scent. It's a well blended photorealistic orange blossom at the opening but sincerely i'm a bit upset and disapointed for longevity and sillage too.. On block i like it very much it's a pleasent spring time summer perfume.

fwuity

opens with 清凉油 (a chinese medicinal balm) and a hint of cumin that adds an slightly earthy depth, then settles into a restrained, mature (and I mean that in the best way), yet narcotic orange blossom, more petals than petitgrain. Really gorgeous.

My mom is not that sensitive to scents — she usually just thinks my perfumes smell "good" — but when I brought an orange blossom home from school to my parents, she fell in love with it. they agreed that orange blossom and tuberose both smell like 槐花, a white flower commonly eaten with noodles in China. I bought a mini vintage bottle of this for my mom hoping she would love it and yes, she does. now whenever i come home and hug her, I smell fleurs d'oranger on her neck. :)

Aeiris81

You know, that moment in Alice in wonderland when she falls down the rabbit hole? Oh well, that is what Fleurs d'Oranger is to me. The second I smelled it I fell in love with this fragrant world, tilted my head back in complete delight as I had never ever smelled anything like it before. This wonderful duo, Serge Lutens and Christopher Sheldrake, have a way of making perfumes which are photorealistic stances of not only the flowers or other ellements but of the feelings one experiments when touches or smells or crushes between fingers. Fleurs d'Orangers feels like summer happiness, that kind when your heart is full. It is ardent and opulent and the cumin note (which I adore) gives it depth and presence. Treasuring my half left bottle like nothing else (but maybe Bas de Soie which is another huge love)💗

Child Chemist

The yellow florals are so concentrated, you get an almost mentholated experience upon first spraying. The fragrance itself is very natural smelling, apart from its supernatural potency. I did not have any issues with the cumin note, it didn't stick out from the other notes in my experience. I did find the Fleurs d'oranger to be feminine, simply because it is floral, front, back, and center.

makitakeshita

A sensual and gentle scent.
However, TUBEROSE is stronger than I expected.
After the dry-down, it became better though.

KELIZ

I bought this based on the positive reviews about a realistic orange grove scent. I’m highly disappointed to find the tuberose & jasmine are overpowering to the point of being obnoxious I can’t even smell anything else. This scent impossible for me to wear because it’s so sickeningly sweet. I am a lover of florals and sweet scents but this is waaaay too much. Definitely a scrubber. A lesson in blind buying - never again.

An Opulent White Floral

I love Serge Lutens. If I had to pick just 3 perfume houses for the rest of my life Serge Lutens would definitely be one of them (Guerlain & Hermes, would mostly be the other two). I've never worn a Serge Lutens I didn't like. This one is no different - I absolutely love it. It blows my mind everytime I wear it.

It starts off pretty intense with an intoxicatingly indolic Jasmine note slapping you in the face as soon as you spray it on. Definitely feels like Jasmine Sambac Absolute (at least tiny amounts of the natural, given that the current IFRA limit is a maximum of 0.25% in the concentrate) boosted with other Jasmine like aroma-chemicals(fruity Benzyl Acetate, Celery like cis-jasmone, waxy floral Hexyl cinnamaldehyde) and also a touch of Indole to really amp up the animalic raunchiness inherent in Jasmine sambac flowers.

Some Petitgrain, and Lemon peel to accentuate the green facets, with an intense citrus-y freshness - some Neroli oil dressed up with Orange crystals (powdery orange blossom note), Methyl Anthranilate (a very powerful tangerine accented orange blossom like note with lot of sweetness; commonly used for the quintessential fruity grape smell/taste in sodas, chewing gums, candy etc.) - to build that Orange Blossom heart.

A classical White Floral/Muguet accord made with Florol (a creamy white floral note with a rosy tint) and Hydroxycitronellal (a very diffusive sweet, white floral note with green accents) and probably some other Muguet notes too - for the main white floral body - also brings softness & the diffusive floral elevation.

Tuberose = Benzyl Salicylate + Benzyl Benzoate + Methyl Anthranilate. Eugenol for some spiciness.

All this built on a very diffusive base of Iso E Super(cedary-vetiver/amber), Hedione (airy, fresh, jasmine-like) and a Musk accord built with a few different types of Musks - Ambrettolide (slightly fruity, Hibiscus/Ambrette seed-like facets), Musk-T(sweet, vanillic, diffusive) to aid the sillage & to introduce the muskiness right from the heart and probably traces of some powdery/animalic musk like Cosmone or Muscone.

This is how the current formulation feels when I wear it. Even without smelling the older formulations it seems quite obvious that this was a monster originally - probably with a lot of naturals, lot more raunch & definitely muskier in the base. The current formulation, with the black label, doesn't last too long on my skin (3-4 hrs tops on my skin/longer on fabric, with intense projection only in the first hour)- which doesn't seem to fit with the opening theme of this perfume or with the Lutens/Sheldrake style in general. I'd surely be looking for an older bottle of this - would be totally worth it. But whatever it is now is still very good.

If you love Jasmine and/or Orange Blossom then this is highly recommended. An absolutely glorious white floral, in the opulent Lutens/Sheldrake style. Masterpiece, really!

10/10

P.s: After spending a decent bit of time with aroma chemicals - smelling them repeatedly and building accords - this is how I read a perfume in my head these days. Once you get used to the various components it seems really difficult to miss them in a blend. Sometimes I don't understand anything in a blend though. But at other times I smell so many things that are not even mentioned in the pyramid. It's a beautiful feeling - to be able to distinguish individual components in a blend. I love Perfume!

alternateu

Whew. Good longevity and projection!
It's a very SKANKY, animalistic orange blossom. Very sexual to me - not sweaty, but VERY sexual from the cumin and musk. Very sexually aggressive, and actually I feel that overshadows the orange blossom.
It's fine, and not inherently a bad thing, and it helps avoid that "innocent, girly, sweet young thing" vibe that orange blossom can give you. Nice, but as someone said below, it "smells like sex". Wouldn't necessarily wear it to work (too skanky). I'm kind of into the skank though, it's interesting.

Also, strangely, again I get a "mentholated/camphoraceous" hint from this perfume. I also had it with "Fils de Joie", which was also by Serge Lutens, but it was MUCH stronger in FDJ. In this Fleurs D'Oranger, it's only a little hint, and far more tolerable.
On paper (and skin sometimes), though, this camphoraceous accord actually goes METALLIC, and to me, smells like blood.

Rating: 7.5/10 (I need to be in the right mood to wear it)
Longevity and projection: Phenomenal on my skin. Full day, and my skin usually drinks perfumes up.

ChocoLei

I love orange blossom and so far, SL’s Fleurs d’Oranger is my favorite take on a non-gourmand orange blossom. I get what seems like a realistic orange blossom from beginning to end, and it’s tinted with beautiful honey facets. It's not an an ultra sweet, powerful or gooey honey note--- actually, it rather feels like a fragrant and flavourful nectar, as if they were dripping from the orange blossoms.

That being said, Fleurs d'Oranger doesn’t feel edible to me. It's sweet yes, but it feels closer to the natural and alluring sweet notes coming from flowers in the heat vs a sweet treat or dessert. I would imagine the most beautiful orange grove to smell like this, while in blossom.

I really can’t smell the other floral notes but I’m sure they play their part in this composition— they just don’t seem to go strong on my skin, or at least my nose can’t quite pick up on them. I’m also happy to say I don’t get no cumin whatsoever— I absolutely love it in food but I can’t say the same when it comes to perfume. So thanks goodness, no sweaty smell for me :)

Projection seems moderate, not quite sure for sillage. Longevity is good but not otherworldly. I think it'll be a delight to wear on sunny spring and summer days.

I am arriving to the Fleurs D’Oranger party so late. I came for the Fleurs D’Oranger original formulation party, but instead I’m getting the reformulated market friendly afterparty. I’ll take what I can get, I guess.

FdO opens with slightly soapy realistic orange blossom, that maintains realism throughout. After the opening, the orange blossom competes with heavy supporting florals that nearly drown it out. I get tons of jasmine in this. Because there’s so much jasmine, I’ve been blending my sample with a high quality patchouli. This is the sort of reason I have a full bottle of FdO coming in the mail, it’s customizable and will play well with layering. I can also smell the influence of (non-bubblegum) tuberose and a touch of cheery pink rose. The battle for domination middle phase lasts a while, but eventually the orange blossom comes back out on top.

White flowers can be a bit loud, FdO comes on strong but doesn’t screech or induce a headache. I get musk on the drydown. So, white floral with a musk drydown is pretty standard. I am truly disappointed that the cumin has been axed. I’m a huge animalic fan and I sought out FdO out in part for the cumin. I wanted so badly to experience the “bangkok taxi” mentioned in other reviews but I’m sadly so many years past the original formulation. I think the overall composition suffers, I can imagine the cumin provided balance and character. That said, FdO is still full bottle worthy, and is my only Lutens thus far.

Ravenrage

This is what a sunny tropical heaven smells like. I probably have this image because I first smelled this in an airport after coming back from holiday.

Either my nose does not pick up the cumin situation, or it is almost unnoticeable in this batch, but there is nothing foul about this. Smells almost exactly as a fresh, blossoming orange flower. Then the sweet tuberose comes up. We should not call this a soapy fragrance, this is simply what every little baby soap wishes to smell like when it grows up. And somehow it also has the SG nostalgic note / DNA. I just love this a lot.

dyrdkk

I have the new formulation in black label. It was my first Serge LuItens, thanks to quality not the last. It smells pretty, clean, floral. It is mostly liniear. I love it, when the tuberose and rose bloom. I have a luck with it that cumin is really tamed on my skin. The cleannes is however sometimes to much like a dishwashing detergent, some days is smooth and delicate. You have to overspray it. Then it last a long time.

Slickchick81

Another winner from Serge Lutens for me, maybe my favourite house now and I only possess four fragrances, I have been sleeping on this brand. Fleur d'Oranger smells like beautiful white florals, orange blossom is the headliner, never quite smelled a perfume that has done that note better, so natural smelling. This perfume does have a soapy element but it is the most luxurious soap you can buy, you will smell heavenly all day, super clean with an edge. Love, love, love. Christopher Sheldrake knows how to blend a perfume. Will definitely be buying more from Serge Lutens, I blind bought all my perfumes from SL thus far, it now doesn't feel risky at all.

Snifftastic

I really wanted to love this one but my skin chemistry is oh so rude to me -- my skin picks the cumin up and just runs with it the entire wear of this scent.

It's not to say others find it as sharp as I do but it's just something I can't get past to wear this more often. I do still love the scent just not on myself if that makes sense.

I will say this is blended wonderfully and lasts a long time -- so there are pros and cons that every scent has.

Do not blind buy this one as that cumin note may be a deal breaker -- test prior. This may work better for others based on skin chemistry and I will always be envious of that. :)

APJ

Heady white flowers with hygiene problems? Yes, please!

Orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose laced with cumin and a delicious muskiness. Long-lasting and beautiful. Recommended.

Air of Grace

Fleurs D’Oranger from Serge Lutens house was my first sample of his perfumes and boy was I disappointed !
Not for the faint hearted , which I am !

I wanted to give Fleurs D’Oranger, Tubereuse Criminelle , Sarrasins and Fille de Berlin another go . Fast forward two years later, with new samples to try again .

The reason being , I had reacquainted myself with Serge’s less potent, simpler scents and loved them . Bought 7 bottles so far so I thought I would try to move out of my fragrance comfort zone .

Again , I was flabbergasted. On my skin it gave me the same result . The confusion as to how a fragrance that oozes narcotic, heady, urinous, fecal undertones was beautiful. Really? Are sweaty underarms the scent we are going for now ? I want to experience what so many reviewers do .

I love fresh, clean floral scents especially white florals but I struggle with indolic fragrances and Fleurs D’Oranger contains three of the most indolic flowers around - Tuberose, Jasmine and Orange blossoms .

On my skin , FdO is primarily an Orange Blossom scent , followed closely by Tuberose which tries to steal centre stage at various moments. There is a subtle flicker of zesty lemon peel , an animalic muskiness maybe from the civet . The cumin is the nail in the coffin in this fragrance with its sometimes spicy notes and other times funky, stale , sweaty body aroma when combined with the Indolic white florals . It’s way too much for me !

There is also mentholated , minty , camphoraceous undertones ( Vicks vapour rub feel - Yuck!) with a small touch of heady tea rose for sweetness.

Overall , this Fleurs D’Oranger is a shock to my system ! I think I’ll stick with Serge’s simpler, less offensive florals like , Nuit de Cellophane, Fils de Joie, La Dompheuse Encagee and La Religieuse. There is a market for everyone .

Mother Nurgle

Dirty flowers - mostly jasmine and tuberose. It’s absolutely stunning! Sillage is quite strong the first hour. After that it’s a skin scent.

provintsia

Smells like happiness. I get joy when I smell it.

honeybunny1977

I am not really into tuberose but because of the orange blossom and other florals this perfume really works for me. I have just ordered a back up bottle because I feel like its such a good performing delicious scent which is unique in the perfume world. There is a sticky resinous quality to this fragrance which gives it more depth than any tuberose I have smelled. Is it possible that if you cant wear things like Mon Guerlain and Le Vie Belle this will probably work? I wonder!

derby2169

Sampling this as a part of a big SL sample haul I must say it is surprisingly nice, not intended for me to wear as a man, but something I would enjoy smelling on a woman. Perhaps the most floral orange blossom out there, slightly tart and fresh in the opening but transitions quickly into a nectar-like white floral accord, half tuberose half jasmine type, sweet, classically feminine and quite alluring as in it being pleasantly inviting but not cloying. What is quite interesting is also the use of the osmanthus to set a slightly apricot-like undertone in the back molding the brightness together with the sweetness of the florals. I don’t get the woody notes but I do get a touch of spice hidden somewhere in the floral mirage.
Something to keep in mind if you are looking for fresh bright white florals.

Kubilayturan

Very beautiful Neroli/Jasmin scent. At the top you get beautiful white florals with slighlty animalic Jasmin. But it fades away after 15min. Then you enjoy with beautiful orange blossom and lots of linden blossom to my nose. Great spring scent, when all the trees have blossom, the weather get sunnier; this fragrance fills the blanks in this transition phase with its energetic and natural smell. A bit femmininne but If you are a man who doesn’t care about what others think or say, you can deffinitely pull it on.

kookaburra1000

“Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by, you can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half-crazy but that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer that you've always been her lover”

scentine

A beautiful and deceptively complex white floral. On me it's formeost a jasmine-adjacent orange blossom fragrance. But what I get is vaguely indolic jasmine and nothing that I would describe as truly animalic or much less as evocative of BO. At first I personally couldn't make out any of the cumin, but now I think the way it comes across here is dry and kind of powdery almost? It has a woody, paper-like smell. It's like opening a drawer where cumin seeds have been kept, not smelling the spice directly.
The opening and mid-development has a very honeyed feel. It's sweet but not in a sugary way, which is probably the tuberose. But I would say the composition also has an aspect I'd describe as salty.
With that said, I have a suspicion that the reason for some of the negative experiences with this is that if oversprayed it can turn quite unpleasant, as it's actually quite intense. And although it may not come across as a heavy fragrance based on notes or initial impression, I really think it doesn't work in hotter temperatures. In my experience, compositions that have a good dose of tuberose don't do well with heat and being oversprayed, becoming acrid and sharp in a way that create certain associations.
To me this is definitely a white floral for the fall and winter season. A wonderful composition.

tirput

Fleur d’Oranger opens with strong jasmine tea scent, which I really like, only to have it develop into indolic white floral. Upon close sniff, I sense something funky and animalic (most likely the cumin) that I cannot tolerate. At all. Then, living up to its name, the delicate orange blossom starts to shine. Still with the cumin, sadly.

The impression I get from this perfume is like a fail attempt in hiding your stinky BO with a well-made jasmine perfume. Of course I don’t want people think of it about me. Hahaha. A stunning white floral fragrance, but too challenging for me.

Perfumer: Christopher Sheldrake.

*I am looking for a bottle of the original formula*
I love this one so much, and miss it. I actually love the cumin now, and the drydown is absolute perfection. Orange blossom with a slight sharp edge goes to tuberose and sweet orange blossom, and dries down creamy.

Marled7

This was fine the year I got it; it had an interesting profile... I was content. I don't think I was aware of the cumin until reading up on the notes and when I smelled it again, it shot me in my face; all I can smell is the underlying stinky armpit cumin. The dry down is pretty, but the cumin opening is not for me. I won't spray/use this ever again. Granada by Memo is a more lovely, no-armpit, version of Fleurs d'Oranger.

I have 60% of the original formula before they were bought out left if anyone is interested.

KarinaSo

Very citrusy rose and hibiscus on a soft jasmine and tuberose wooden bed. Took a while coming back and trying it again and again to get used to, and see under the soapy/ shampoo impression which is so easy to get stuck on.

okamikiera

Orange blossom tends towards soapy, and this one is no exception-- I feel the bitter green neroli presence more than the sweet jasmine or tuberose. Drydown though introduces the cumin, and it's a lovely contrast, garden freshness against a stale spice cabinet. It's done more subtly than most orange blossoms, and oddly this small change makes a fabulous scent. Not too sweet, clean, but a little salty like bare skin. Unfortunately, after a few minutes wearing this the cumin gets to be a bit much for me (olfactory fatigue) and makes me sneeze.

2whit2quit

I would bathe in this juice. I’ve been into orange blossom lately and I love everything that includes tuberose, so this seemed lovely. I do love it! It’s not too much of any single note. Very well blended. This has me wondering what it smelled like before being reformulated.

alphairone

Starting off as a conflagration of white florals, Fleurs d'Oranger has a larger than life grove of orange blossoms accompanied by heady jasmine that at first would lead one to think "oh, this is extra" but just lean into it. Revel in its creamy, vertiginous voluptuousness. It's a bit intoxicating, and after some time, the spiciness and woodiness converge with these florals.

The turn of events in Fleurs d'Oranger may startle many but it is what made fall for it, hook, line, and sinker. The woods and spice grow a bit more fierce: everyone discusses the cumin here, but it isn't front and center, but it does add a shade of funk that I love. It adds interest here rather than completely arresting the wearer, and to my nose, it isn't nearly as dirty or sweaty as others might suggest. Then again, I love fragrances like Mazzolari Lui, L'Air de Rien, and Diptyque L'Autre.

The dry down is a rosy, spicy, musky woods with whispers of the white florals enduring; if sprayed on clothes, they remain far longer, naturally. I'm sorry, what can I say? I am a Sheldrake fanboy. This is brilliant.

KerriZ

I take this all back....I retried this fragrance again today...and it delivered! Maybe it's affected by my mood. It's been 3 hours and can still smell the faint aroma of orange blossom. Yay! totally reminds me of a gentler Gucci Bloom. I am so happy! I purchased a decant and was so excited to try this. Everyone reviewed so well. I am sadly disappointed as I dont think it even lasts 5 minutes on me. I smell no cumin. Just a faint hint of orange blossom and jasmine that disappears almost immediately. Sadly not for me. :(

QueenieIrenie

Cumin and I don't get along in fragrances (I love it in food though), it gets amplified on my skin and smells like BO after eating curry, so I hesitated for a long time to try this one. But it came highly recommended by someone who swore she did not pick up on the cumin. And I love SL's other creations (aside from Feminite du Bois, which was a cumin bomb on me), so I ordered the travel spray. First impressions: gorgeous, photo-realistic orange blossom and jasmine. I don't smell tuberose. The cumin does come later but it's not nearly as potent as Feminite du Bois. It's actually very subtle. If I overspray, I definitely smell it more, but as long as I don't spray the same area more than once, it's actually quite tolerable. Especially if I'm getting whiffs from far away, rather than sticking my nose right up to my skin. Overall, I enjoy this one more than I thought I would.
Edit: But I still don't think I can ignore the cumin enough for a full bottle. In fact, each time I test it, I pick up on the cumin more and more. Glad I only got a travel spray.
Edit #2: I really need to test fragrances with cumin multiple times before making my final judgment. Or stay away from them altogether. This is definitely a no for me.

LemonLane

Honestly the opening of this baby is just sooo spicy. If you can get past the initial HEAVY blast Of cumin, it dries down to a beautiful and soft orange blossom (the cumin still being present). For me, it’s a scrubber in the early phases and a no go.

Aisabelle

I grew up surrounded by orange groves, and this fragrance is a very realistic aroma of luscious, sweet orange flowers in bloom.

MadMadCat

The opening is beautiful, like a blast of juicy, fresh flowers, especially the sweet orange blossom, and green tuberose, but within 5 minutes the cumin shows up, and this becomes a sweaty mess, like a floral perfume on top of sweaty male underarms. Cumin just doesn't work for me in a perfume. Sadly, I can tell that the quality of the fragrance is very good, it's long lasting, the projection is good, but I can't get over the acrid sweat smell of the cumin.
Not a safe blind buy.

zackrevolvex

bought full bottle. this is a love from me. idk why the score is under 4/5 till this post. this is unisex

Gioia's secret

I like its opening but cumin note destroys everything, as it turns to something dirty and sweaty

SANDYDE

Love this. Sharp strong opening. Is like a cross between carnal flower and neroli portofino. Great performance. Perfect summer scent.

Cherry_Darling

Heady, heady jasmine with something like civet (probably the cumin) strong creamy vintage floral with some orange blossom and neroli. Dries down to a gorgeous creamy orange blossom.

Lady Nightshadow

Fleurs d'Oranger is much more than the title implies: one could expect a fresh, light orange blossom cologne, but this is not.

The opening is an iper-realistic bath in powerful citrus flowers in full bloom. Absolutely marvelous, with the right bit of acidity, but deep and sweet at the same time.
At first, it's a perfectly unisex fragrance, then it becomes sweeter - a majestic white floral - then a bit more powdery as the roses and musk are kicking in. Definitely more feminine.
But wait, it turns more dry and masculine through the end, when there is a distinct woody and spicy note.
I would love it on my husband.

I would consider a full size if the longevity was significantly better, but it's also true that it will be used in small amounts per application, since it's powerful enough while it lasts. It's definitely on the pricey side. Safe blind buy.

DS9Dax

Really smells like true orange blossoms. Refreshing, clean. Great for a summer morning or early evening. It’s a big burst at first but that quickly settles and you get the other flowers. It really is a beautiful scent but if you want it to be notice more then two hours you will need to reapply. To me it is unisex. It’s not a sweet scent, definitely a white floral.

Autumn_Moon

Years ago, I made a trip to a local garden center with the intention of picking out a few hot peppers for my garden. Upon entering the nursery, however, I was arrested by an aroma so intoxicating that I bailed on my mission and followed my nose until I found the source -- a row of lemon and orange trees in little pots, all in full bloom. (Guess who forgot all about planting peppers and came home with an expensive, temperamental, high-maintenance citrus tree that day? :) )

This perfume duplicates that scent to an astounding degree. For a few moments, I do get hints of rose, but they dissipate quickly and allow the orange blossom to shine in all of its heady, smooth, syrupy-sweet glory. I swear I can smell the heavy yellow pollen dripping from the flowers. It's absolutely glorious. Unlike some other Lutens scents, the cumin doesn't make a noticeable appearance on my skin -- if anything, it works behind the scenes to amplify the indolic aspects of the blossoms.

Much like the life cycle of many flowering trees, this perfume does not last long on my skin; it projects like a beast for the first half hour, then gradually calms down to a skin scent after 2-3 hours. It does, however, last for days if accidentally sprayed on clothing. Seriously. Three days after I wore this, I could still smell it on the clothes I wore that day as I put them into the washing machine -- without putting my nose to the fabric. For all I know, it may have lingered longer, had I not decided to do laundry. Therefore, I'm going to conclude that it's my skin chemistry that is burning through this at an accelerated rate (meaning it's not the perfume's fault and you may get far better performance on skin than I did), and I'm going to make my peace with that and accept the fact that I'm just going to have to reapply this throughout the day and/or "accidentally" spritz my shirt with it... because I adore this so much that any rules I may have made for myself about a perfume having a certain amount of longevity just went out the window in this case. I can't be without it.

MarianB

After a few tests I'm still not sure about this one. The opening is perfect. Heavy, sweet jasmine and orange blossom. Just beautiful. Then the rose comes through and makes it even better. However, after half an hour the sweetness fades and it turns into this sweaty cummin smell that I don't like at all. Without the cummin it would have been perfect.

TheMunchkinlander

This is THICK, syrupy, mellow. I love it despite the fact that a bouquet of flowers overpowers the orange blossom. Yes, it's right there if you're looking for it, but so are the jasmine, the tuberose, the rose and the neroli and you can smell each of them if you set your mind to it. I was happily expecting the cumin everyone below is talking about. However, along with the woods and even the musk, it is so faint on me that it serves no other purpose but to give depth to the everlasting florals. (Seriously, this is one of my top long lasting fragrances). Probably the "happiest" of the Lutens I've smelled, yet indolic enough to feel mysterious.

brokesta911

Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger (2003) - animalic orange - #christophersheldrake is an excellent example of mastery and playfulness. This starts with an innocent Orange blossom-jasmine and a mélange of citruses. Creamy and white. Would have made most customers, who engage only the topnotes, go “ooh-aaah” and even better, buy it immediately. After a couple of minutes, it transforms and shows a different side. The jasmine blooms and Tuberose enters. Musky Ambrette and spicy Cumin take the center stage. Animalic and lush. You’ll be surprised and elated with the entrapment. Most people might find this polarizing, but stay with it, as Mr. sheldrake is also a master of balance. He adds more florals, white musks, and woods to calm down the spicy storm and dries down to a spiced floral-woody accord ala #epicemarine . Try it out, take your time, enjoy.

Enrium

Fleurs d'Oranger does what it says on the tin - this is primarily an orange blossom scent. It is more indolic than clean, featuring a heady white floral accord at the heart, bolstered by fresh orange notes. Instead of being light, clean and delicate, it is big and lush - earthy and dirty instead of being an inoffensive summery citrus scent. Potentially polarising for this reason, however the orange blossom is one of the most authentic I have smelled. It is like the evil twin of Matière Première Néroli Oranger - a safe, clean yet long-lasting neroli scent.

FO opens with a bold orange blossom note that smells quite realistically like later stage orange blossoms - lush, heady white florals with a fresh orange tinge. It is beautifully rendered, despite being heady almost to the point of cloying. Juicy citrus notes add a much-needed hint of freshness. Indolic jasmine joins it, enhancing the intense white florals, while honeyed tuberose adds some waxiness. Savoury cumin adds a hint of spiciness, and some sweet rose emerges after a little while.

As it dries down, the orange blossom fades, and remnants of jasmine remain until it fades to a skin scent. It is still indolic, but lighter and quite pleasant, bolstered by a musky undertone. Sillage is fairly strong, and longevity is moderate. Made with high-quality ingredients, FO is strong but simple, placing the orange blossom firmly centre stage. Possibly feminine-leaning, but could be worn by a man. An extroverted orange blossom scent. Lush and lovely. 4/5.

LaChinoiserie

I layer this with Zoologist Bee !

The dirty orange blossom + honey combination is delicious 💛🧡💛

Mademoiselle Pucelle

My first memories of orange blossom water are those of my grandmother using and recommending it as a treatment for every type of ache, from stomach to body to soul.
Orange blossom water tastes slightly floral, slightly earthy, and quite bitter. Its smell, I would say, is utterly grandmotherly.

I’d never been interested in orange blossom as a perfume ingredient for the above-mentioned reasons, until the day I visited Seville.
In Seville, any day, any hour, any woman you spot in the city, aged 18 to 98, looks amazingly presentable: gorgeous hair, stylish clothes, tasteful makeup.
In Seville, orange trees are as widespread as beautiful people. Just gorgeous. The whole of the city is embedded in a wonderful orange blossom smell, enchanting, intoxicating, like magic… and so the orange blossom smell gets quickly associated with beautiful scenery and beautiful people. Hard not to love it.

It was in Seville that I first got to experience what raw, organic orange blossom smells like.
Fleurs d’Oranger by SL smells pretty much the same. I am smitten.

Renee G

Serge really loves to use his tuberose. Opening has that very moth ball-ey smell just like Tuberose Criminelle, except it’s got almost a candy like orange note. 30 minutes in and you start to smell the “bo” cumin spice. Absolutely love!

Juliet Sistine

I love the orange blossom scent but would be better without the tuberose in my opinion, which is the dominant note on me

Sweetvanis

I love this! The cumin, for me, just adds a touch of spice.

Torieleigh13

I know a lot of people don't care for the cumin note here, but I personally find it to be the perfect sharp finisher to a light and at some times difficult to pin down citrus. Someone else described this as walking through an orange orchard, which I agree with, but add to that that you're eating a carnitas taco while you're at it. I kind of love it.

RottigrlNYC

Too much jasmine and tons of tuberose, while I love both of these flowers, I was hoping for a more orange blossom heavy perfume, hence the name. I did buy a bottle but not my favorite Orange blossom perfume. I honestly don’t detect any orange blossom at all. Can someone please tell me why does SL have to put cumin in all his fragrances? Why? Does he think everyone wants to smell like cumin?

antolin1

NO. I recently re-sniffed this and it straight up reactivated bad scent memories. Just NO. When I originally purchased this a few years ago, I sniffed, practically scraped the first 4 layers of skin off my arm, then repackaged to ship for return the same day as purchased. This starts with a sharp orange which would be fine if it didn’t turn into a mix of dirty musty wood base that goes into BO territory, and cat urine, which I surmise is the cumin (or rather, the way my skin reacts to cumin in scents). This is an atrocious mess, and my guess is that’s the reason it can be found so cheap through discounters. I am so confused by some of these reviews – sweet? Pure citrus? Tuberose? I get none of these notes, however, I am glad others do. Total scrubber for me.

golbraykh

i have the newer bottle with the black label. i think this fragrance does a great job at evoking a summer evening picking oranges in an orchard. i detect a slight soapiness, but it is balanced out by the barely detectable cumin note. sillage and longevity are amazing, and i was pleasantly surprised to actually get complimented while wearing this in public! definitely a great fragrance for warm, sticky summer days.

ShowMustGoOn

All good till we got to cumin. Why? Why? 😩

Edit: I actually really like it. Turns into creamy jasmine/tuberose scent. Cumin is in the back but it’s less body odor like and just more supportive spicy.
Projection and staying power is a beast, along the lines of Amarige by Givenchy. It stays and people around you smell it.

thestranger

I am a sucker for orange blossom, but the cumin note in here just reminded me of Indian food

extremebasketball15

Saw this at TJ Maxx for $29.99 for a 50 ml (black box, no name on the bottle, atomizer and screw cap included). Immediately picked it up and bought it, even though the box was messed up a bit. Smelled it, and it reminded me of my grandmother. When I was a little kid, she always smelled like this: orange blossom, white floral, and citrusy. Glad I picked it up, I might gift her the bottle or maybe gift it to one of my female family members, as I find it too feminine for me to wear. Smells good though. After all, a Serge Lutens for $29.99 at a rack store should make any fraghead's day a good one, even if it's not for you. Go hunting at the rack stores now, they're starting to stock up on serious gems

How surreal to find this for under 30 dollars at TJ Maxx, along with a few other Serge Lutens fragrances. I'd never smelled this before, but I'm very happy to have it. It's the special edition version with the zellige on the bottle. I read that this was inspired by Morocco, but this is also the precise smell of Andalusia. Several years ago I bought a tiny bottle of perfume oil from a beautiful woman in Granada that was called "Flor de Granada," which smelled almost exactly like what I get here: heavy, swoon-inducing orange blossom, jasmine, and tuberose, with a hint of musk and wood underneath. I get the cumin only at the opening (I'm guessing that's the BO scent others are noticing). I can't really pick the other floral notes out individually, but they seem to be floating around on the breeze. The longevity of this is impressive--I originally tested it on the back of my hand and could still smell it after washing my hands two or three times. I'm planning to wear this in the summer, and if it's sticking around like this in December I will definitely need to go easy with it in the warmer months.

Fleurs d’Oranger from Serge Lutens is everything lush and lovely and radiant about a little bottle of orange blossom water, right up until the time I add it to a cold drink or a confection, thinking how exquisite it will taste and then realizing, uggghh... this literally tastes like a mouthful of perfume. Fleurs d’Oranger is the extreme version of that ill-fated swallow, all syrupy narcotic, summer damp, fleshy-musked florals, balmy honeyed jasmine, and tuberose, intensified by cumin’s bitter, polarizing pungency.I adore the scent of orange blossoms and enjoy this interpretation more than most. It’s heady and heavy-lidded and hypnotic whereas many others have a lighter, somewhat “clean” aura. I’m fairly certain that the deliciously cunning and charismatic Lady Sylvia Marsh, immortal priestess to an ancient snake god in Ken Russell’s trippy 1988 horror film the Lair of the White Worm, wears this exact scent and as she goes about her days, heartily seducing and eating men, looking fabulous, and enjoying herself tremendously.

Thatmusicman

Fleurs d'Oranger is perfect for spring and summer, daytime and evening time.
On me, I get a strong opening of orange blossom mixed with jasmine and a little cumin spice. It's fresh but also warm and promises sunnier days. The tuberose is also sexy and each time I've worn this, I have attracted attention and good conversations... The dry down is a delightful creamy, almost woody sweet scent, comforting and floral. I have the limited edition bottle with the North African Zellige design and I love it!

Sanrio

This is one of the few fresh orange blossom dominant fragrances that lasts a long time on me.

Unfortunately, I detect a BO smell in here, just lingering in the background. It's like someone tried to cover up their sweaty pits with an orange blossom perfume. I tried to ignore it but my skin seems to amp it up as the day goes on.

Maybe it will play nicer on other peoples skin.

lilacsandchocolate

This is a beautiful siren of a perfume. It comes alive on your skin, like a living orange blossom radiating off of you. It does have a decent dose of jasmine, and has a gorgeous spiciness to it. It's dense and airy and very sultry, I would say it's more like what the ideal orange blossom would smell like.

Nocturnal_Delirium and caribou55313 are right in their descriptions of this fragrance! This smells like the painting "woodland nymphs" by Hans Zatzka.

Compared to the OG formulation, the new one in the black label is just a little watered down, but a good number of sprays should give you the same effect as the original.

This is currently my little brother's signature, and he wears it amazingly!

tahnif

I don't understand the cumin here. If I wanted to smell like cumin I'd eat chili or curry and get sweaty. If I could look past that note, this would be a pleasant scent.

AquaBaby5

Lol I can’t help it, I love this fragrance but I for some reason only wear it when I am going to be sweaty, out of doors. So tomorrow I’m going to do yard work and plan to wear this :) it is, as the person below said, just a bit dirtier than Houbigant but it is nearly identical otherwise. I also own the Jo Malone OB and that one is fruitier and also fresher with the clementine, I find this one more bold as it actually has some tuberose and jasmine, it’s not just orange blossom.

stephdray

This is beautiful, deep and hypnotic. So potent. Orange blossom gives way to tuberose. It’s the orange blossom I think I’ve been looking for my whole life. Dirtier than houbigant orange blossoms. Sweeter than Jo Malone’s orange blossoms.

librabeing

This is the way to do intense orange. It's deep and dark, yet the orange is ever present. I smelled this on my friend and almost fell over. Perfumes aren't always the same on you as they are on someone else, but this one translated well on me too, so I bought a full bottle. I wear it on romantic evenings or special occasions. I do have to say that the new bottle design is an EYESORE. Sigh. But I just hide it in the back now.

laurafergs

I finally got my sample in the post today - a sample I suspect is pretty OG. I have a bottle of the black label version in the mail also (we’ll see if they’re hugely different soon).

First impressions as I huff this in my mask (the pandemic is good for something I guess), on my wrist and décolleté are: spicy! The nutmeg and cumin provides a lovely cool/warm spice that gives the impression of a pomander or of the spiciness of orange peel, without actually smelling of those things. The orange blossom brings a breeziness and the tuberose a fleshy humidity that, all together, gives the sense of clean, damp skin.

It is carefree and sensual and elegant and much quieter than I was expecting from Lutens. I own Tubereuse Criminelle and Datura Noir and have previously had bottles of A La Nuit and Chergui and this doesn’t punch me in the face the same way those do. (EDIT: Oh wait, yes it does!)

Regarding the cumin note that scares everyone: I don’t get it. It doesn’t stick out to me. Lutens never makes straightforward florals, to his and Sheldrake’s credit. The addition of cumin and the particular Lutens’ treatment of jasmine and tuberose gives it dimension and brings reality to this white floral construction.

I’ll note that the jasmine (or…something…) in this is particularly 90s to me and it reminds me quite a lot of Aromatics Elixir in the dry down.

I have a feeling that this will really bloom on me in hot weather, the same way Fracas does. And I feel this will benefit from a light-handed but well-placed spritz.

EDIT: Ok, the new bottle arrived and it is…different-ish from the above experience. It’s cleaner and more linear. The cumin is almost non-existent and the white florals - specifically the tuberose and orange blossom - are up front and clear. This is what I would have loved Elie Saab to have been - without that god-awful screechy-synthetic orange blossom. I have a feeling the newer, black label bottles are a less intense and challenging formulations of Lutens’ previous works. I don’t know how much of this is down to IFRA restrictions and how much is down to wanting to appeal to a wider market. Either way, I much prefer this newer version - I can see the dry down being a proper photorealistic rendition of an orange blossom, indoles and spice and dewy floral notes all coming together to present a flower that blooms on warm skin. I was fearing having a whole bottle of that sample I tested and am very glad I didn’t end up with that. All in all, it smells good.

brettashley

This feels like a true orange blossom in all its blooming, heavy glory. I actually love most white florals like jasmine and tuberose, but can’t really stand orange blossom (it strays into headache territory for me) - but if I have to wear it, Fleurs D’Oranger is maybe the best possible way. It truly smells like an open window on a gorgeous summer night. Cumin grounds the boastful white florals and here, I actually welcome the presence of cumin cutting through the flowers - something in that slightly sweaty note makes the flowers feel languid and heavy with dampness, like the end of a summer rain. Christopher Sheldrake is a master perfumer and I need to get my hands on more Serge Lutens ASAP.

christopher.chase21

Tuberose and jasmine bouquet! The opening is juicy oranges that quickly take a backseat to the tuberose and jasmine that come marching in. This perfume is definitely not a safe blind buy for it’s price. I see reviewers commenting on its longevity as compared to it’s pre-reformulation. I don’t know what it used to smell like in terms of longevity and sillage, but my current formulation in the largest sized bottle with the black label is beastly! I am not sensitive to fragrance and I have to spray this one on my waist for it to allow me to wear it. The dry down is a heavenly dose of juicy oranges and the aforementioned soliflores that dance the tango on your skin wafting their warmth up to tantalize your sniffer. The cumin is present in the beginning for me and it peeks through at staccato intervals throughout the wear of this perfume. It’s a pleasant masculinity to the heavy feminine beauties that make up this masterpiece. I recommend using this carefully as you can cause headaches and induce sickness with over-spraying. It’s that rich and heady!! I have had both men and women hunt me down in a room wondering where the “juicy orange floral” smell was coming from. I actually had a lady open the window and inhale stating, “it’s not outside!” 😂. If you can get past the price, and find a sample, try before you buy. This is a love and hate perfume. Not love OR hate. Lol. Some days you love her and some days you hate her! A tumultuous relationship that I keep coming back to and getting a second dose of. ❤️

Gemini Moon

I've found my dream orange blossom scent. Its a bit spicy & zingy. It also has a sensual sweaty note which is so unique & a bit unusual . There is something carnal about this perfume . I'll probably wear this on my wedding day.

Konga5000

If you are looking for a soft pretty FLOWERY Neroli -- this is NOT for you. This is like a gingerbread cookie with orange frosting.

puremugetto

The dry down is exactly Jo Malone Tuberose & Angelica. I got this one today and it has been three hours since i sprayed it on my wrist. I was eating my brains out to find what it resembled so much. Finally Eureka!! First it is a gorgeous indolic jasmin, orange blossom, tuberose and even honeysuckle combo. But the dry down is definitely something greener, musky and silent. Beautiful.
I see i can tolerate cumin as i do not get any sweaty smell. Beautifully crafted.
It is like a passage of three different perfumes. A scent story…

Nocturnal_Delirium

This perfume is a masterpiece. If I could only smell one more thing for the rest of my life, this would be it.
A lot of my childhood memories revolve around smells, and in particular the smell of orange flower. Dreams and childhood memories have an alluring dimension that makes you always imagine it better than it really was. Well, this is it. This is not a realistic orange flower but one that comes from the depths your dreams. It completely enraptures you with it's nymphic vibe, often reminding me of music like "Prelude à l'aprés-midi d'un faune" from Debussy.
I think it's a really sensual scent, but not in an ordinary way. To balance the alluring and dreamy seductive vibe, there is a certain dirtiness to it. My best friend says it smells a bit like sweat and I think there is a certain truth to it but it is done in a beautiful and mesmerizing way. This is like having an orgy in Heaven (with all the contradictions that it entails). :)
However, I have to say: this perfume has a really strong character - the real strong character, which is not the "in your face" but actually insecure vibe but instead a subtle strength that touches everything around it without looking like it's even trying. It has such a strong character that sometimes I am not sure if I am wearing the perfume or if the perfume is wearing me (and, trust me, I'm the kind of woman who is often perceived as having a very strong personality so feeling like I'm "nothing" next to a perfume is something quite unique :P ).

Summer 2013. I’m in my early 20s, in Europe for the first time, studying in a small town in France. It is sunset. The window of my tiny dorm is open, the warm breeze coming in, the waning sunlight painting the walls a peach hue. The scent of Fleurs d’Oranger wafts from the tester strips I’d picked up from Marionnaud on my way home from school, filling the room as I try to conjugate irregular verbs. Later that night, I’d head down to the guinguette by the river, practicing the language with locals and fellow students.

This is an incredibly nostalgic scent for me, as it defines a very particular period in life. Whenever I smell it, I’m immediately taken back to those French summer days. I can still see my dorm room very clearly, hear Édith Piaf playing softly in the background, and remember what it was like to be experiencing everything for the first time: a starry-eyed young woman in a sundress leaving a heady trail of flowers behind.

jemly

my favorite orange blossom fragrance is fleurs d'oranger. while a lot of orange blossom (or soliflore perfumes in general) smell of a floral shop greenhouse, i find fleurs d'oranger (and serge's other soliflore perfumes like the rose in fille de berlin, the jasmine in a la nuit, or the gardenia in une voix noire) smell of the flowers after they've been picked (despite the name of the range, 'flowers unpicked'), have been sitting around for a few days, and are ever so slightly beginning to wilt; perhaps they've already served their purpose, yet they remain. the green newness that is romanticized in so many fragrances isn't there so much, and i guess i simply think that's cool. perhaps fleurs d'orangers is the smell of marie antoinette's bath that was steeped in orange blossom *after* she'd gotten out and the water hadn't been emptied yet. or better yet, of her skin, clean yet sweaty from the heat (there is vetiver, that sweaty suggestion, in fleur d'orangers after all, nothing about this orange blossom is soapy to me) with the orange blossom water still wafting from dewy shoulders. i've always preferred something (clothes, interior design, smells, PEOPLE....) a bit "lived in" anyway.

traditionally feminine, but if i met a guy wearing this i'd probably ask him to marry me on the spot.

lovetribe

fantastic, magnificent, opulent. a perfect mix of orange blossom and white flowers. a trip.
10/10

Damn, this is beautiful. This is impressionism in perfumery. By that I mean you can distinguish the jasmine and the tuberose and the cumin notes, but the overall impression is that of standing in an blossoming orange grove. The jasmine is slightly indolic at first, which I love. The orange is just enough to sweeten the scent. The cumin lends a touch of welcome earthiness to balance the composition. I know that the cumin goes south on some people, but it didn't turn on me at all; a touch of the white flowers held all the way through the drydown for me and the cumin was barely perceptible.

I must have this. It's exquisite.

NaroliTicha

Opening- the most beautiful orange blossom I ever smell, very realistic. I can close my eyes and see a pile of Orange Blossom in front of me.

Dry down- It turn in to Bangkok Taxi on me, also very realistic.

Interesting.

Perfumedsecrets

Sprayed this on for a pick me up today. It’s warm all of a sudden after days of freezing rain. The birds are out in the sunshine. This is fitting. I also own Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs, but this has an intensity and depth I am craving that one doesn’t have.

LaContessina

By the way, I just applied a spritz of this one as I happen to have a sample handy, and today it's raining outside so not a very hot temperature; with hot weather this may be way too strong and can turn stomaches. I love to wear this from time to time. My decant is from 2008 and i treasure it, as new formulations may be different.
This is one of my 3 favourite fragrances in the SL line. I like oranges, love orange blossoms (neroli) and I love tuberose.
Tuberose is the main upfront note that triggers me in that fragrance. I love tuberose and I love white flowers, so I have to be honest: to that extent -white flowers- Jardins de Bagatelle (Guerlain) is my favourite.
Fleurs d'Oranger starts like Jardins de Bagatelle, to me, and this is one of the reasons I love and I can wear it. The orange blossom is fresh and uplifting in the first stages, afterwards it is all about an indolic jasmine and tuberose.I agree with other reviewers, Fleurs d'Oranger is definitely an evening/night/ winter perfume.
It is heady, heavy, has of course an incredible staying power and it's so spicy, sultry, skanky, I would say sexy more than sensual (it is too screaming to be called sensual to me!) that it suits better evenings out or when you need to impress someone. A perfume, especially if it is so noticeable, is an excellent piece of conversation!!
A great perfume, but probably not for everybody nor everyday.

Singabera

Beggining is bright honey powdery orange blossom, nothing special and lots you've smelled before.
Development is linear, no surprises, but base is noticeable cumin. A bit strange combination to me, not interesting or appealing...

ingeneuxo

-Opens with the most beautiful orange blossom.
-Dries-down to the most disgusting civet.
-Not a safe blind-buy.
-Hard pass.
-Not fbw. (-)

Callista25

This smells like a sample of orange blossom absolute before transforming into a tuberose soliflore. I do not get any of the famous cumin note. Maybe it has been removed from the current formulation or maybe it is my nose?

Simple but pretty. Good longevity and sillage.

Synaesthetics

I'm pretty picky when it comes to florals, so I was a bit bored with the opening of this. Then after about fifteen minutes the cumin note started creeping in and my interest was suddenly sparked. I loved the unexpected funkiness, which is a clever contrast to the soapiness of the florals. However, as it evolved, the cumin note seemed more and more disjointed from the rest of the notes, as if it was added in as a practical joke. I love the idea of a dirty floral, but after a couple hours this simply smelled like B.O. and soap.

GinCatsBooks

I've been wearing Fleurs d'Oranger all day, its possibly become one of my favourite "summer in a bottle" scents that I can use during the heights of summer and in the depths of winter to bring a ray of sunshine to my day, its, even possibly going to become my new signature scent, I am head over heels with this!!

This is my first Serge Lutens scent, it will definately not be my last. Fleurs d'Oranger pulled my interest when I read the notes list and when, during an interview with Sali Hughes, Caitlin Moran described it as summer-y and said it was one of her favourite scents.
I own a few orange blossom and tuberose scents, it seems that I just gravitate towards them and I was, kind of thinking "Do I really need another tuberose and orange blossom concoction?" turns out that yes, yes I did!

This is so different to any other tuberose and orange blossom I have worn, its very bright and lively with citrus and orange blossom on first spritz, as it begins to dry down, hibiscus and tuberose intermingle to give a touch of the tropics and conjures up images of being sat in the sun in a citrus grove near the sea, cumin was the note I was dreading, I've read reviews saying that it was problematic and caused a very unpleasant BO like scent, I'm very releaved that on me, the cumin adds a SLIGHTLY animalic hint but for the most part gives a spicy hit.

The overall scent smells like the summer, its slightly soapy, fresh, warm, a little bit spicy and a little bit tropical, it really will bring a smile to your face on a grey morning and give you a lift during the warmer months too! Its more complex than Jo Malone Orange Blossom and more citrussy than Diptyque Do Son but still feels very easy and effortless to wear.
Longevity and Silage are very good, 8 hours of wear and a mild to moderate silage, future 100ml repurchase!

Konga5000

(REVIEW IS FOR THE OLDER BOTTLE with WHITE LABEL)
1) First ever SL fragrance
2) Blind buy
3) Bottle looked bigger in the photos (LOL)
4) Very impressive orange blossom/ citrus/floral amalgam that comes off as "playful and candied neroli with a hint of soap". Other reviews here keep harping on the "spice"; of which is very low -- near undetectable, to me.
5) Longevity and projection seem very good plus. People will ask "What are you wearing?" .
6) BONUS points for smelling very natural
SUMMERY: In the past I have had other "orange blossom" scents that reminded me of this (albeit on a more simplistic level) :
Nest's Orange Blossom "Soul Spray" , Yves Rocher Neroli and a little bit o' Guerlain Nerolia Bianca . This is better than all three of those in terms of quality and longevity ! I
expected something a bit more unusual and challenging coming from this house -- but I am happy with it !
SAFE BLIND buy if you trust everything I just said.
P.S. Sellers who are normally greedy with reformulated fragrances -- seem not to know the difference with this and the NEW black label : LOTS of the "white labels" still for sale at normal prices. Act now of be sorry later.
UPDATE: Brought this to work and let "the girls at the office" sample it. One said "Oh there's musk OR something in here" she did not like it. 2 others did like it and said "Soapy". And after wearing it for a few days - the spice gets more noticeable in the dry down. (to me). And the "soap" is there too. I'm glad I own this but it will not be an "everyday" wear.

lilysmith1

This is a weird one. I don't know what it used to smell like, but to me it starts out with a blast of minty orange out of the bottle. Then, when applied, I get this pretty orange blossom scent with...something underneath. Body odor? I had to check that the stink wasn't coming from me. Alas, it was this little perfume sample. It's definitely the cumin, which I always thought smelled like B.O when cooking with it. I don't know who would think this was a good note to add to a pretty orange floral but 1/10

CynthiaPOnce

I am so so so sad. SO SAD. This used to be my signature scent. I haven’t been paying attention and didn’t realize reformulation was happening. So I only have 25% of the original packaging left. I tried to order from a discount perfumer that had the photo of the old packaging as a backup. What arrived was the new packaging. I said what the heck and opened it up and sprayed. Wow. Just so disappointed. It. Does. Not. Resemble. The. Original. Fragrance. AT ALL. I’m going to have to find another signature and thinking of giving Houbigant Oranger Fleur the successor place for signature. I removed SL FdO as my sig on my profile. There’s no orange blossom. There’s not even cumin. There’s a strange medicinal gasoline like tuberose that opens it which actually smells a lot like hyacinth. I would perhaps be satisfied in calling a hyacinth perfume and enjoying it for that except it is gone in minutes, I’ve experienced more tenacity in BBW body sprays! It’s unbelievable and so disappointing. It fades away right away and there’s nothing left. If I bury my nose in my wrist it smells like I used soap and water to wash off whatever scent was there and the soap smells weird. My God. This is just ruined. Foul like my mood right now discovering this happened and I did not prepare. Devastating. I’m so upset at the money I just wasted and that my favorite perfume is gone. Don’t bother with this. I also refuse to buy any more from Lutens. This is called bait and switch with niche pricing. Not my hard earned money!

MnM

I received my sample and UGH, so disappointing. At first a big blast of jasmine and tuberose with verrry little orange flower and a lot of some funky something- I'm assuming the cumin, I don't get anything else. The funky mix stays around for hrs and finally drys down to the Tuberose/Jasmine. This reminds me of some soap I smelled in the past. Thank goodness I didn't blind buy.

I wonder how different the old version in the white packaging is to this one (black packaging).

Bbjr

The formula in either of the white boxes is fantastic, the stuff in the new black box is horrific and I can’t believe they continue to sell it under the same name.

SuzanneS

For those of you that have the new formula and it isnt quite right, layer fleurs d' citronnier with it. Between the two it harmonizes and makes it all better.

Cinnamonpeelerswife

I love the experience of wearing this, but I must concede that it is an experience best enjoyed when you don’t mind smelling kind of funky for a while.

It opens with a big blast of green neroli, followed quickly by sweet orange blossoms and sweat. It feels like gardening in the late summer heat.

The cumin gives it a strange, failing deodorant phase early on, that was more fascinating to me than offensive. I enjoy a healthy dose of skank in my white florals, and this one gives the clever and unnerving impression of smelling my own body through the perfume.
As this peculiar funk subsides, this perfume blooms on my skin. It becomes all spicy orange blossom for a while and then dries down to a lovely and distinct honey-sweet jasmine.

The funky-spicy opening and the sweet, innocent-floral fade gives the odd sensation of having experienced the perfume in reverse.

Bbjr

Well I picked up a back up bottle and the reformulated version isnt even close to the original. Such a shame, it’s now a musty, flat, uninspired mess. I’m so ticked.

Jephero

I regret buying this. This is NOT an accurate representation of orange flowers.
Unisex, this is not. Sexy (on me) this is not. I am a neroli and orange blossom addict, and often apply orange flower water to my skin after I shower, and I had a bitter orange tree in my first apartment... I am very familiar with the smell of orange flowers, and I am comfortable with feminine as well as masculine fragrances.

This was a colossal disappointment. I do smell a small amount orange flower, but I don't get tuberose. This is by NO means a soliflor... it's weird, in the most u fortunate way. I get plenty of rose, some citrus, and feminine musk. I do NOT get the lush heady quality that I love about orange flowers, nor do I get the funk from cumin... it smells like an old fashioned air-freshener to me, both on a scent strip and on my skin. I don't get any sexiness or sensuality, or any hints of summery sunny weather. Its loud, its bleh, its dated, and it is NOT NOT NOT the benchmark for orange blossom fragrances - I don't know what all of these other reviews are prattling on about. There are far better representations of orange flower fragrances out there.

Bbjr

Was fortunate to pick up a sealed vintage bottle from a great eBay seller. Don’t know what to say, this is simply outstanding. The best floral, fruity, spicy concoction I’ve ever smelled. I love cumin and it’s perfect in this mix. Need to find a backup bottle.

bintTapputi

"Happy memory of Serge’s arrival in Morocco in 1968, the shock to the senses of his first encounter with the amazing aromas and his wonderment at “the women who were hitting the orange blossom trees with a stick and collecting the falling white blossom in large white sheets”. Unquestionably the scent of happiness!"

I want a bottle for summer. Really well done, really beautiful. Probably my new favorite white floral mix and certainly my current favorite orange blossom. Like many light and refreshing white floral fragrances, Fleurs d Oranger is fleeting and quite soft on the skin. I don't normally gravitate in this direction, it's quite fresh and airy, there is nothing questionable about this fragrance in the least -it would be universally liked. 8-8.5/10

jsaliga

This is unquestionably the best orange blossom fragrance you can buy, and it may well be one of the best floral fragrances ever fashioned. Intoxicatingly beautiful, and despite having jasmine and tuberose as supporting players not girly in a way that might be a red flag for men. A fantastic floral unisex fragrance that shouldn't be missed by anyone who appreciates high quality perfumery.

RUDOLFO512

I always wanted to own Fleurs d'Oranger and I kept putting it off. Finally I caved in and bought a bottle. This is THE best orange perfume I have EVER owned. Beautiful orange blossom with jasmine and tuberose. I don't care if this is a feminine perfume. I love it and I get many compliments when I wear it.
Perfect for the summer months and it lasts a long time on me.

Violinplayah

There was a manager I worked with who was very good at her job, intense and hard working. At the end of the day, this is what she smelled like. It’s a white floral with strong body odor wafting out. I love the heated cedar in Feminite du Bois that smells warm, but this goes beyond to just needing a shower. I retry it every now and then to see if either my taste or the fragrance has changed, and so far, I still don’t want to smell like someone with pungent body odor seeping through my morning perfume at the end of the day, and that impression has not changed in the fragrance.

Trotsky

I gather some people feel that the new formulation, with the black label, is less lasting and/or less punchy than the old version, but I find that a bit hard to believe, since this is SUCH a powerhouse. (I've also heard this fragrance described as "linear," which I'm not experiencing either, so I guess I'm a complete weirdo.)

Anyway, I love this. It's a BIG white floral without a lot of extraneous elements, but there really is something rich and nuanced about it, in spite of its naturalness. A true pleasure to wear!

One teeny, tiny, totally trivial caveat: I don't like the "modern" new Serge Lutens label. It reminds me of 70s aftershave, which really doesn't go with either the style or the quality of the fragrances.

kati77

A true beauty, white floral but orange blossom in the king here. Rest of notes just helps orange blossom to "shine".
Complex and rich yet simple. As time passes it shows a various orange blossom shades. Great perfume.

halael

I've found myself craving photorealistic fragrances as of late. I want to be able to close my eyes and convince myself I'm smelling the real thing. In Fleurs D'oranger, you get exactly what you would expect. I pull my collar away from my neck, expecting to look down into an orchard in bloom.

It is floral. I don't want to say classically so, but, yes, to some this will read as dated. To me, though, it's perfection. A fragrance executed more than masterfully. This will be my Spring daytime signature scent this year.

Plp

I absolutely loved the smell of orange blossoms when I visited Morocco, so I wanted to buy a bottle of memories.

Luckily I scored a decant of this first, as I smelled the amazing stuff for the first 15 minutes with a soapy note in the background and then it was the clean soapy mature scent til the end :(

quency1

I’m not a Neroli fan but this one is a real gem! A very sexy mysterious lady in a bottle who is untouchable.
I mixed it with molecule to make it more lasting and it became something really fabulous. Now I can say it is one of the best perfumes ever.

Distantspring

Caution advised: The reformulated version with the black sticker seems to have compromised performance relative to previous versions, now lasting only 3-4 hours maximum. Wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for the price point and the fact that re-spraying is necessary.

This performance is unfortunate as this is a wonderful neroli scent. Very green with a slight spicy undertone, it conjures images of orange orchards in full bloom with its abundant, awakening white floral core (tuberose and orange blossom). The noticeable green overtone suggests recent pruning or the scent of grinding a new shoot between ones fingernails. The spices in the background do (to me) give a very subtle sweaty effect which is faintly animalic.

Unisex in my opinion.

euevabrown

I never had the new with the black sticker so my review is for those with white sticker. I had many versions because it’s one of my favorite fragrances. The last one I’m still using has the batch code from 2018 but still with white sticker. I must admit that since 2018 they started to water down the scent. A lot! After 2 hours becomes a skin scent and after 3 hours I can barely detect it unless I sprayed it in the hair and in this case it can be noticed a bit more. So in terms of performance sooo disappointed by the last versions. The fragrance itself is absolutely gorgeous! A clean scent so luxurious and classy that could be easily a signature scent very easy to wear both in winter as in summer if only would have more longevity and sillage. At least for a half of day. But for 2 hours of longevity and sillage does not worth to pay that high price even if the scent is beautiful! So if shisheido reads these reviews please do something about the performance! Please make it last longer and project more because we will not buy something with such a poor performance in terms of longevity and sillage.

I have the new version: with the black sticker. Zero lasting power, zero sillage, fragrance is simplistic and watery.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong but, contrary to all users who rate this very high on longevity, on me this scent lasts 2 hours. I can smell it within first 30 min, then on 1 hour mark it's a skin scent. On 2 hour mark it's not there anymore. I splurged 120 EUR on a 50 ml bottle at a luxurious chain retailer (so I am certain it's not counterfeit). So in the end, I don't get it. This behaves like an eau de toillette, not perfume. Florals have good staying power on me, but for some reason this one does not. I tried extending it by applying oil to my skin beforehand, but no luck. I am starting to wonder if the new bottle versions, with the black sitcker, are watered down compared to the original. That would explain why my purchase turned out to be such a fiasco.

My impression of this fragrance is pretty much crushed by the overal disappointment at this not lasting. It's orange blossom and tuberose. It's simplistic, boring. Was supposed to be my next signature scent because for some reason I believed it will be a perfect affair between jasmine and orange blossom. Honestly, I can't wait till I finish the bottle and move on find a better scent. Since I have to reapply it every 2 hours, it will be gone in no time.

Biggest. Dissapointment. Of. The. Year.

I've lived in Strasbourg for a little while and I would always take walks in the Parc de l'Orangerie in the early evening. Fleurs d'Oranger de Serge Luten brings me back there every time. I can't help but daydream when I smell this perfume.

It is one of most lovely scent out there! Definitely in my top three (the two others being Mitsouko and Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea, both de Guerlain). I'm quite conservative or on the shy side when it comes to perfumes : feminine, light, simple. There's something very naïve about this scent. It smells quite strong (for my taste) but it is not a strong smells, as in powerful (if that makes any sense). Obviously, the orange blossom note is very present. Jasmin always comes out strong on me (which I really appreciate). I don't know how much tuberculosis I get out of this, but it definitely has something powdery about it, but this is in no way overpowering. To me, this is really all about the blossoms and the jasmine. Also, about the cumin... this is the reason why I've been hesitating to try it, as this is not a smell that I like (or spices in general - on me, that it). Luckily, I don't smell any of it in this fragrance. There is something earthy about this perfume that I can't quite explain (maybe this is the cumin!), but it makes it smell so natural, so true. Exactly like a tree blossoming (without being a green fragrance). Furthermore, and this is probably the most important thing for me, this does absolutely not smell like agrumes to me. I dislike the many parfumes that are supposed to smell like orange blossoms and actually smells more like the fruit. I do not like fresh parfume and this is not one of them. It might be a little soapy a first, but it disappear quickly.

Finally, of course, this one is for the white floral lovers because it is simply that. It's not the most complex perfume, but it is simple and beautiful, but most important of all - it smells real. The longevity and sillage are excellent. Again, it's a strong parfume, but it's not overwhelming.

*I'm slightly allergic to parfume and this doesn't trigger anything.

This is a beautiful, rich and sweet white floral scent. It truly smells like Spring and Summer flowers on a warm breeze. The orange keeps it fresh, while for me I’m always surprised to see vanilla not listed as a note. It has a soft vanilla undertone on my skin. Tuberose is one of my most challenging, ‘hit and miss’ notes, but in this it is soft and clean tuberose, not over ripe in the slightest - it stays on the back seat (I can smell it there always and usually that would spoil a fragrance a bit for me, but it doesn’t). The jasmine is perfectly gorgeous and not too indolic. There is a rounded, honeyed white flower vibe - maybe the Orange Blossom combo with the sweet spices. I would describe this as a happy, uplifting and feminine scent. It brightens my mood and when I wear it, I want to keep smelling my wrist. I don’t own a bottle sadly - only a decant. I would love to though! Moving this from like to love.

Wow this is a surprise! The first note right out of the gate for me was a big blast of orange blossom. Then that cumin note or the caraway or both came in right after and I got that body odor animalic fragrance that others have mentioned. I even smelled myself to make sure it wasn’t me. Nope it’s this perfume. Then 15 min in the other flowers come to the front and the BO calms down. There is also the citrus in play. This is a strange one. It’s sunny, fresh, animalic, indolic, BO, joyful, narcotic, citrus… how can it be all these things? I don’t know, but it is. This is weird but at the same time I can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s got that natural Serge Lutens DNA that I’m quickly finding is just everything to me. Somehow they seem to make every fragrance dreamlike.

My favorite orange blossom so far--I don't usually like that note. I love all white florals save for this flower and lilies, so I'm pretty particular with scents featuring it as a dominant note. Even so, I don't think I'd bite the bullet and get a bottle of this.

It starts out really good, I actually get more tuberose at first as the orange takes time to develop. Like a Polaroid, the full picture of this frag isn't clear until at least half an hour into wearing it. A number of things happen: the orange flower creeps in and overshadows the banana-y tuberose, citric and pungent, and the caraway begins lurking underneath, adding some odd but novel bodily skank.

I like this a lot, but probably wouldn't reach for it because it seems difficult to wear. Maybe if I were a bigger fan of orange blossom in general, or if the caraway was softer, I'd get this. Then again, those two aspects are probably what make this frag distinctive and lovable for those who are fans of it.

This one was a bit of a disappointment for me. Opening blast of orange and white flowers, with an aldehydic finish that reminds me of the orange dial soap.. The cumin note throws me off a bit. It dries down a bit mature on my skin. It’s strange - all the elements experienced one at a time smell “good” - but the blend of notes taken together is a bit off-putting. It’s actually a fairly linear fragrance to me that never really gets past the orange flowers and soap. This one is a pass for me but with a different skin chemistry I could see someone liking it.

Pianomelody

A very natural perfume, i can feel the fresh jasmine, its petals, and even the very bright orange blossom. It is very welcoming and polite, it gives off all its splendor in spring, i really like this perfume, it's really well done! The sillage is heavy and longevity over 6 hours. Very beautifull!

Blast of orange blossom on the front, is very sweet and then within an hour it's gone soapy on the drydown with no floral scent. It's a no for me.

wxmath

Too feminine for me, flowery and also not the best floral I've tried. Generic. Received as a sample and not bottle worthy for me.

Plumaria

I finally made it mine. But this is a bittersweet new addition.
Bitter because of the disappointment for the very diluted quality of the bottle I bought, a batch from 2017 with the beige label, the one before the reformulation of 2018 (full black label).

Sweet because, well, in short, it's beautiful.
It's all I was looking for.

THE GOOD THING
Do you know that smell when, on a humid summer morning, before the sun is high and scorching, you walk close to an orange tree, smell those turgid little flowers and maybe rub them between your fingers? You know that creamy, sweet, aromatic and clean aroma at the same time? This is what Fleurs d'Oranger smells like and much more.
The real orange flower, a part from its typical aromatic note, also has that sweet and honeyed hue, so the addition of jasmine and tuberose amplifies the voluptuous effect.
Adorable!

The spices are noticeable but only in the background and remind me of Givenchy's Organza. It is not a BO skank or dirt, but something deliciously carnal.

It is wearable in every season, but spring and summer seem perfect to me because this scent recreates the atmosphere of flowers caressed by the hot sun.
It's sexy in a natural and a little cheeky way.

The new version from 2018, with the full black label, is a bit 'cleaned up' of the spicy notes that I call "carnal", and the floral effect is a smidge more synthetic, but equally beautiful. This version is also quite long lasting.

THE (VERY) BAD THING
I unfortunately bought a bottle of the batch of 2017 and this particular year seems extremely watered down. After the first strong blast, everything evaporates very fast and it leaves a fleeting, weak trail behind, more similar to an eau de cologne than a EDP, so I need a lot to smell it all day.
This is unforgivable for a luxury brand like Serge Lutens, which should be a little more careful about quality. They still boast of being a niche brand, which they haven't been anymore for some time as they have opened up to the large distribution, and probably it is precisely the need for mass production that at some point will have imposed cuts to the quality of raw materials.
But their price range is still very high.
Really ... there is a limit to everything.

churinl

Wow. That cumin note really does smell like body odor! Thankfully it settles down rather quickly. My bottle just arrived today. So far, this seems more tuberose dominant instead of orange blossom, but they sort of play hide and seek with each other and the gorgeous jasmine throughout the evolution.
So far, I really like it, but don't love. It is pretty enough, but nothing special. As always, I will let her rest and "freshen up" after her journey and try again in a few weeks. I will say that I am glad to have this in my collection and it will not go to waste, but let's see if she grows into a love.

EDIT 5/4/2019 - Ahhhhh! That's more like it! The initial blast of cumin stank which was so pervasive the first few time's I tried it this winter have taken a back seat in the spring time and now I don't feel self conscious about possibly smelling like I haven't bathed. I still smell the jasmine and tuberose more than the orange blossom, but it is there! I tend to be a heavy sprayer, but this does well on me with a lighter hand - spray each wrist and the throat, and I am good to go. This smells more like an evening scent to me, though I usually wear whatever I want whenever I want. Not a masterpiece, but pretty damn good if you ask me!

aishmiqru

I have mixed feelings about this one. It's an orange blossom fragrance with a very strong note of tuberose. I'm usually torn about tuberose, it can be kinda cold at times. I prefer me some creamy, animalic tuberose like in Memo's Marfa. Here the tuberose is icy cold, much like in Gucci bloom. The opening is a lovely sweet neroli, but most of the fragrance's development is utterly dominated by the tuberose. However, it does behave a bit differently in warm weather, I've almost only ever worn it in the cold. With heat, it warms up considerably and I get more sweetness from it. I remember one day I wore it, on a warm December day, I kept getting these lovely wafts of very natural sweetness that had me trying to identify which tree it was coming from.

Br'eauDeCologne

When a fragrance - or anything, for that matter - gets this much hype: I'm always a bit skeptical of it to avoid disappointment.

Is this the best orange or Neroli ever? No, not in my opinion. Yet it's VERY good and blended in an unusual way that makes it stand out. In addition to some of the other notes people have mentioned, I get a whiff of hay every now and then.

Is this the longest lasting orange ever? You bet! Projection and sillage are modest to start, dwindling to a skin scent after a few hours. That skin scent will last half a day or more, under the right conditions. I haven't experienced any fragrance with a long-lasting orange note like this.

Fleurs d'Oranger is absolutely worth a try for any orange or citrus lover looking for something different, with depth.

Azula

Groves of honeyed orange blossoms basking in the blazing tropical sun, warm human flesh and a hefty dose of methyl anthranilate, which lends a syrupy grape accord that compliments the narcotic, overripe floralcy. There’s a slight soapiness reminiscent of the orange blossom in Classique, but the intimate, fleshy tuberose-cumin accord contrasts this cleanliness and provides a beautifully executed juxtaposition.

If you like Classique, Amarige and Mugler’s Alien, do give this a sniff. I find it utterly beautiful and enrapturing.

Fluffyandpuffy

What a beauty, Tuberose, orange blossom done to perfection!

damienthoresson

I don't love it, but I also don't dislike it. Unfortunately, for me, it falls under the 'super soft like' description. As a devout Serge lover, this was a bit of a disappointment. It does what it says, and very little else. It's a neroli & orange blossom fragrance with little else to add to the equation. It is beautiful, though.

I'm really sad about this one. I was so so excited to try it, because its so loved and sounds immaculate. However, all I can smell is an orange flavored cleaning product. I mean, not as super crude as that, but at the end of the day, that's where my mind goes every time I get a whiff.

M.r

Hey gorgeous!
Beautiful rounded white flowers bouquet! I can detect most of all scents listed in it. It is so musky. It has that strong clean/soapy smell mixed with the heaviness of Neroli and Tuberose. I just love it!
I wear it in summertime. The hotness and the light breeze of summers nights make me high!

peppermoon

Serge's Fleurs d'Oranger is rounded and full figured, with no sharp petit grain or citrus. It's warm, glowing, honey laced orange blossoms and tuberose, with a dash of nutmeg and an animalic touch from caraway and the flower's indoles.. At times, hibiscus adds a slight red grape note, which I'm not crazy about.
Overall it's a gorgeous floral scent, that's rich enough to be worn in winter and fall. Great sillage and longevity. Love.

vince840927

Really love this one. But also not liking this one so much sometimes. The floral aspect the Jasmine, Orange Blossoms, and Tuberose is absolutely stunning. Give me this image of a white floral garden when I wear it. The Jasmine gives this dryness to the perfume that It is not overly sweet. The thing I don't really like it that much is occasionally you get the notes of body odor while wearing it. Sometimes I even suspect that it might be from me? I guess it depends on the weather and the condition too. Overall still a really good fragrance.

Longevity is pretty normal. Would say it last around 8 hours. Not a beast but still pretty good for floral perfumes.

I believe some guys would think this is too feminine, i get that. But it doesn't really bothers me, I think I just love wearing slightly feminine fragrances.

15 minutes into the wearing, this hit me with a solid dose of cardamom (which I can't stand) and fenugreek (which has a sour sweat BO smell). I was hoping this note would calm down as the time passed, but I am 4 hours in, and can't stand it anymore. Good thing I only sprayed a tiny bit (not even one full spray) otherwise it would require a full shower to scrub it off. The interesting thing is that the notes indicate caraway, and the perfume intro talks about cumin - both of which I can handle. But NOT cardamom or fenugreek!

demhayerawsah

Ever since a trip to Morocco in 2016, I've been low key obsessed with orange blossom - in fragrances, creams and desserts!

Serge Lutens doesn't play. This is crafted scent and lives up to it's name of Fleurs D'Oranger. As the hours pass, the orange blossom unfolds and it lingers close to the skin. The effect of this is that you don't leave an overpowering trail, but rather anyone close to you wants to come closer. It is feminine, elegant and lovely.

So far so good - but before you get to the beautiful parts of this perfume you have to put up with at least 2-3 hours of smelling like a "grandma". As I'm my 20s, this is not something I like. And it is for this reason that I won't wear this, yet...

meg0825

Wow! What a spicy, animalic orange blossom fragrance. It's so unique. I don't think I've ever smelled anything quite like it. Gorgeous!

Looking over my 'haves' and wondering over which to review next ... this one!

I notice this appears on orange-blossom themed threads with literally outstanding frequency. And so it should: if you want a full-on non-compromising orange blossom general advance along the whole front, then you couldn't do much, if any, better than this. It takes me back to my first ever experience of orange-blossom scent. Not that I can specifically remember the actual happening; but instantly, the moment I set nose to this, the olfactory 'gestalt' that was installed in my mind on that occasion, whatever it was, was resurrected. And vividly, too!

I think the admixture of a little civet (which orange-blossom kind of 'calls out for', IMO) has a lot to do with it. The result is ... it seems odd to say this, as how could it possibly be pleasant ... but like it lodges itself in your breathing passages by means of barbs! Like it's on the point if making you sneeze. (It never does actually make me sneeze.)

Really, I'm just describing orange-blossom here, rather than reviewing this fragrance. But I am reviewing it, in that this fragrance DELIVERS orange blossom. It doesn't seem to me that there is really a great deal more to be said about it. Other orange-blossom fragrances, such as for instance Elie Saab's excellent offerings, use the orange-blossom note, or do stuff with it, but this one - this one just delivers it, pressed down and running over.
Even such other stuff as there is in it is here ancilliary to this purpose - either framing the note or boosting it - the civet definitely boosting.

Just checked the notes-list - civet isn't listed. I'm nearly certain though that I read in some Serge Lutens spiel that it does contain some. If I find it doesn't I'll get back and correct this.

I had smelled this out of bottle and thought it smelled amazing. When I finally got my hands on it it was quite a bit different than I expected.

The opening was citrus and quite a soapy floral. Then came the spices, which was quite a nice surprise. I was unsure what I thought of it when an hour or two later I got a whiff of the wonderful orange blossom scent I'd origionally smelled. I haven't known many scents to get less soapy as they settled, but this one seems to. Upon revisiting the dry down is magical. Resinous and musky, yet bright and powerful enough to catch your attention throughout the day, but not room filling.

I'm not sure that it will be my favorite orange blossom, but it is one of the most interesting.

dsty

I like all kind of neroli scents, from bright candied interpretations to earthy natural ones, but Serge Lutens' dirty/spicy version isn't for me, however good it is in its genre. Both the nutmeg and the tuberose are a bit too prominent here for my personal taste, and since I already have more than one orange blossom in my collection that is way more up my alley, that means I probably won't bother to get to know Fleurs d'Oranger better now that my sample is gone. Which isn't to say I dislike it in any way - in fact, the neroli note itself is really wonderful. Sometimes when I'm not thinking about it I catch a whiff of it from a distance, and it makes me reconsider everything I've said here and almost run out for a full bottle. But then I sniff my wrist more closely and the nutmeg hits my nose, and I know it's not to be.

lunarambrosia

Smells gorgeous at first and then the dry down haunts you for hours with its cold, soapy sterility. I bought a bottle of this at one point when I didn't know any better and regretted it almost immediately. I actually forgot I even owned it, which, for me (not a mega collector), is saying something.

Dr.Aroma

For men this is too feminine but I couldn't help but buy a bottle. I live in Lebanon, a middle easter country and in the south there are orange plantations. When you drive past the plantations at night, the orange blossom smells so heavenly. When I smelled this fragrance, it was as if the perfumer had just took that essence and put it into a bottle. Hyper Realistic, its the best Fleur d'oranger anyone could own.

Its a gorgeous fragrance. Gave it to my mother, and she gets interesting compliments from her friends. Even my mother who isn't into perfumes adores this fragrance. That isn't to say this has a mature vibe to it, this will suit any age.

Versatility can go all year round, best worn in winter because of a slight density the fragrance carries.

If I had to describe this fragrance in a sentence it would paradoxically be: A subtle yet elegant head turner.

Stunning perfume. perhaps the best i've ever smelled thus far. this is the standard for me, bar none. every time i smell something new, i have to think about whether it could replace this as my number 1 scent.

it is a beautiful, full but not overwhelming warm floral bouquet. It is complex and intriguing without being stanky and offputting. It is unique yet pretty much universally alluring. Oriental, eastern flowers, meets Indian spices, meets Western high perfumery and refinement. Beauty in a bottle <3 Can't believe this isn't rated 5 out of 5 stars here tbh.

Chrysolaga

I blind bought this based on the some of the reviews and because I tend to gravitate toward some of the top notes, but this was almost overpowering for me after just one spray. It started to turn into insect repellent territory for me after a while. While I appreciate the strength, especially when so many of my favorites fade away quickly, I might have to reserve this for special occasions. I decided to change from the spray application to the dab application to see if it helps with being too powerful to my senses. I definitely prefer Fleurs de Citronnier to this one.

diluted paintbox

Okay, I would like to avoid writing reviews under first impression. I know myself, I like many different things, I am addicted to fragrances and I get overwhelmed and overly enthusiastic over things too quickly. Generally, I trust my intuition, but with fragrances, I need some time to totally relax and welcome them in my life completely. BUT HIS ONE. Oh, my god. I cannot tell the specific notes or in any rational way explain this, but my life has reached a new level since I've first smelled it.

First of all, I like woody, spicy, noir perfumes. Some sweet and white floral perfumes had slowly found their way to my top list, but generally, this is so not me. But this is just heaven. It is white floral, I could also say it is somehow fruity-juicy-orange-peachy sweet, but in the most perfect way. I couldn't believe that I could fall in love with something like that in a second. It is yummy, but not gourmand. And then, a spicy note comes, which was like pre-orgasmic moment for me, I was thinking "there is even more?!" Thank god it does not fade to woody mamma mia, because this would be too good to be true. For me, it also has something masculine, but very subtle. If there was more of it, I wouldn't complain, but even so, it is a masterpiece.

Okay, I am lucky enough to really love the smell, but I would like to tell you what a virtuoso this fragrance is aside of the scent. One thing is the scent. But another thing is behaviour of this perfume. It is brilliant. I often complain about the sillage and longevity. I can not get the thing with the main idea of perfumes: this is practically a scented water for which I pay a lot. But somehow, most of the perfumes lose their smell after couple of hours or even before. In my mind, this is not it .If you are a perfume, you have one job: to smell good for a long time on anything or anyone. I haven't tried Serge Lutens's perfumes before, but Fleurs d'Oranger really does its job very good. Its smell is strong already in the bottle, but when mixed with skin, it does its magic: it gets alive. And this is the brilliance of it. It is like you are working together, the perfume and you, you are dependent on each other. Then it develops but it doesn't lose its power. I am thrilled about it.

If I wasn't obsessed with oh so many different scents, this could be my one and only perfume right next to my signature perfume. This is the one which fills up the whole space around you but it is not aggressive. Like when someone steps into your apartment and says "mmh, it smells so much like you".

And this one smells like me right now.

A spicy blend, delicious ad so fragrant, reminds me of Ramadan time during sunset where you can smell all the sweets made of orange blossom coming out of all houses in the neighborhood.

freddinos

As anticipated, Lutens’ Fleur d’Oranger is a magnificent orange blossom. Unfortunately my skin chemistry does something horrible to it and, during the middle notes, it smells somewhat metallic. Top and drydown are ethereal, sunny, beautiful.
For anyone with potentially the same problem as me, I recommend Piguet’s Mademoiselle Piguet, another amazing orange blossom similar to the Lutens without the metallic tinge.

I bought this and hung on to it for at least six months before giving it away, in frustration, to my most willing recipient, my mum.
A pleasant yet absurdly boring non commital fragrance. This is not what I would expect from a fragrance that labels itself as orange blossom.
It may be pretty but it’s quite pedestrian in my view.

I tried this perfume in a store as the saleswoman suggested, I sprayed it on a piece of paper. I don't remember the first impression, I had some thoughts running through my mind and I just put it in my bag. But when I smelled it in the evening while taking out things from my bag - boy what a scent! Heaven for my nose! I couldn't believe orange blossom can smell so delightful, soft, so delicate and romantic! Wow! I kept on smelling this piece of paper for the next 3 days. Since then I wish to try it again, this time on my skin. Usually I don't prefer scents that have one note prominently dominant but this is a true masterpiece. I think it would suit the most a woman in her 30's who is elegant, tasteful, gracious in her movement, sweet but decisive. Heaven, heavenly!

I believe that fragrance appeal is a nose-of-the-beholder thing, so I want to preface my review by saying it is not negative- it is purely an observation.

I tend to wear big, resinous oriental spicy florals, but this fragrance sounded like a nice change of pace to try. Indeed, it is a light floral, pretty, and a departure from my usual big, bold fragrances. I have worn this twice and the first time it seemed reminiscent of something I've smelled before, but I could not quite place the fragrance. The first time I tried Fleurs d'Oranger was in the summer, so I decided to put my sample aside until cooler weather. When I sprayed this today, the image instantly popped into my mind: this fragrance smells to my nose like the very faint fragrance of Kleenex tissues. I actually have been aware of the tissue scent all this time and did not realize it was a commercial fragrance that was produced by design. It is a light and pleasant scent, so that is not a bad thing. Also, the fragrance lasts on my skin for quite a while, even though I do not apply fragrances heavily. I would recommend this to a floral-lover who wants to dip their toe into the fragrance pool but who doesn't want to dive into the deep end just yet.

Fleurs d'Oranger is a persistent white floral that is not overpowering. It is not quite my cup of tea, but it is a pretty and pleasant fragrance.

My signature perfume and maybe my 10th enthusiastic review... LOL

Actually not a review, just found this description of this masterpiece on line and wanted to share

"In a word: masterpiece. There is no other way to sum up Fleurs d'Oranger. This is truly a legend in the Lutens line, the fresh yet decadent scent of an orange grove in full bloom, blossoms falling like rain as a warm breeze swirls the petals in the air. The heady and sweet scents of orange blossom, white jasmine and tuberose are highlighted with a hint of citrus and enhanced with just the tiniest wisps of warm spice to create a perfume that is ever-changing and, once you live with it awhile, you begin to sense its ultra complex nature. Fleurs d'Oranger is a floral fantasy that is even more beautiful than any amount of flowery prose can hope to relay…it's a rare fragrance that could be worn every day and you'd never tire of it. Gloriously feminine, Fleurs is not “cute” nor is it cloying or overpowering…it's pure French elegance meets a wild romp in an orange grove, a dream of a perfume that will make you close your eyes, breathe deeply and just…smile"

verity3

I'm puzzled by this fragrance. It's not a bad scent; I love the orange blossom in it, but I'm not getting "sex" or even "unisex" from this so much as... "gym socks." Not unwashed gym socks, but sort of like someone did a halfway job on the laundry. Like they used a very nice detergent but not enough of it, and then dried the gym socks but not completely, and left them in the dryer for a few days slightly damp, and then remembered to finish the job and ended up overdrying them.

There's something very dry and woodsy that's not listed in the notes. Or could that be the caraway, or the hibiscus?

Birdboy48

I was looking for a straight-ahead orange blossom fragrance, and boy does this seem to be it. I seem to have a fairly recent bottle, and in contrast to many recent fragrances and reformulations, this stuff lasts forever (almost to a fault) and projects like crazy on my skin. To the point where I'd only spray half a spray if I could.

Quite linear it seems, without much in the way of development. Compared to L'Artisan Parfumeur Seville a l'Aube it's less complex and quite a bit stronger and more persistent.

It's what I was looking for so I like it, and a must-sample for those exploring orange flower fragrances.

Wooster97

Smelt this for the first time in Liberty ,and ever since the assistant sprayed this on my wrist I can’t stop sniffing it! This is a soft orange blossom ,and turns into a dry woody floral throughout the day ,noticeable but not overpowering ,pleasant and clean ,this will be my next purchase !

Jasmines neroli.

It's quite a blend of jasmines and citrus beside the neroli. Very floral and very interesting. Not much of tuberose but more on the spicy side and the sourness of citrus and jasmines.

For someone who doesn't really like orange blossom, I love this.

Unlike soapy usual ones this smells sweaty and a bit indecent on me but beautiful and wearable at the same time unlike some of my others. Basically to me it's a proper femme fetale perfume, the sort that hints at things... judging by the reviews this may just be my skin but the cumin really comes out on me.

Sillage isnt huge and the longevity could be better but so far the best orange blossom I've sniffed!

With this superb frag we watch a long lasting beauty contest between orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose, coming alternately to the first stage. Sometimes even the rose or the hibiscus peaks through to make a glimpse!
The mix is fantastic, finally in the end orange blossom wins the contest, as you leave the show with its nice skin scent, though jasmine and tuberose have done her best to get the trophy, in vain ...
A must have for lovers of white flowers.

I bought this because I have been seeking a neroli orange flower fragrance that comes close to Caron's Narcisse Noir from the '70s, a search that continues...unrequited.
There was a heaviness in NN, almost a wintry depth, that I have never found again.
Anyway, this was pleasant, but forgettable, and the longevity was a little suspect for an EDP. I liked it but didn't love it on me.

I thought this smelled really pretty but the white florals were just too much for me to enjoy wearing - there is a big heady tuberose in here. I tend to be fairly sensitive to certain white florals (yes, I'm talking about you tuberose, lily and gardenia) and they can easily be overwhelming and give me a headache. I gave this to my sister and she seems to really like it.

I really don't get what people are talking about when they say this is dirty or skanky. FOMO. Womp, womp.

Fleurs d'Oranger is one of those few Lutens Fragrances I love and that work really well on my skin.
It's very different from the usually cologne-ish orange blossom scents or orange blossom mixed with vanilla.

While orange blossom totally is the main player here, it's no boring soliflore at all, but complex. The scent takes course in different, changing directions.
All the notes are noticeable at one point, even hibiscus (at least if you know it should be there).
The orange blossom is sweet like bubblegum, supported by tuberose. The jasmine note, also a main note here, smells like real jasmine from a shrub. Very natural.
Cumin and nutmeg make everything round and perfect, the spicy notes are a surprising twist to the white flowers. I can imagine that the cumin note is not for everyone, but on me it's restrained enough to not become sweaty, but pronounced enough to be exciting.
I somehow find the scent girly and mature at the same time.

The base is a bit less spicy and more floral than the top and heart, but as I said, the different notes come and go and come back. For a long time.

I want to have this badly.

Orange blossom. Just orange blossom. And you know, there is a lot of power in simplicity. I mean freshly baked bread with butter, or fresh cream. It's nice, but also it just makes me think of all the things I'm missing, where's the complexity, the depth....no wait .. Minimalism.... Simplicity
And there you have it, perfume that causes an existential crisis is a no go.
