your skin, but better. sooo good and subtle for office/work or casual wear

not-meera

Was surprised to see the number of notes here! This just smells like pure, fresh musk to me... maybe a hint of iris. Something clean and light for any time of day, any time of year; my at-home scent for now.

Edit: For some reason two days later, this smells different??! I am getting something soapy, synthetic, and unpleasant. Help me get rid of it I am sooo confused.

Yuyulia

I had it twice (old version that shown on the picture). Good fresh musky summer/gym fragrance. Somehow it reminded me of VS bombshell during dry-down. At first spray totally 2 different fresh fragrances at start but dry-down quite sweet with hints of vanilla, very similar. Good lasting power. But i overspray a little :D

CyanM

This review is for the EDT. It's musky, of course, but a soft, sweet musk, not sharp or particularly dirty or animalic. Somehow it is clean without being terribly soapy---that note doesn't smell like huffing soap, just like being clean after a hot shower.

The dry-down after 20 minutes or so is significantly floral and a bit juicy, which must be the peach coming through. The overall package is quite pleasant, and I think it could work in a variety of environments. I don't see myself reaching for it often, but don't feel a need to get rid of it, either.

Milleregretz

One of my first perfumes, revisiting now. I bought it because I read it was Liv Tyler's signature scent when LOTR was doing press. Anyways, this is a simple but addictive musk. It wears very close to the skin and really smells like a skin scent to me. Very warm and soft but sensual and the tiniest bit animalic. It's sexy but inoffensive. I could imagine it layering well.

Where to wear: in your twin sized childhood bed, fantasizing about Arwen

frank_yxz

Although the packaging has been changed, this one remains to be one of my favorite cheapies. When I was a student and just started wearing perfume, this is one of the bottles I owned and I am still buying it now.
I tend to compare it to Original Musk by Kiehl's, which is leaning more towards the animalic type of musk scent, while White Musk is fresher and cleaner.

The opening is clean, light and sweet. Soon the animalic smell of musk kicks in, but it is well blended with the floral notes here, so it remains fresh and clean, although somewhat stinky in the background. It reminds me of my student days, wearing white shirt and blue jeans, those worry-free days. To me this is an uplighting smell.

Considering the price, I have nothing to complain about its longevity. These days I tend to wear it to bed. It is comforting and soothing.

henderson_the_rain_king

loved it in the store and on a paper tester, but after buying a bottle and spraying it on my skin it just smelled strongly of ethanol alcohol and then turned into an unpleasant singed hair smell on my skin. maybe it was a defective bottle plus my skin chemistry did not mesh with the product, but anyways, it was a horrible experience and after a few tries i had to throw the bottle out.

Caroline D.

I'm not a perfume expert and have never compared it to other musk fragrances so my opinion is not particularly well informed. That said: I love it. Only in the winter though, and maybe more for the evening than for daytime. I think it's quite a seductive scent.

AleksOud

This is not the clean girl musk type like in 212 or the drydown of Blue Indaco, more like oldschool synthetic grandma style musk. On top of that, it is not really showing any other notes, just this musk so be warned.

RB2002

So I’ve been using this on and off since the 90s, and wanted to write another review on this, based on the reformulation.

The Body Shop is giving the removal of seedlac, which is not a Vegan ingredient, as the reason for the reformulation. But I believe it was because of the removal of the fixatives Lilial & Lyral, due to new EU perfume regulations around 5 years ago, that caused the scent change.

However, I have a late 90s White Musk EDT, a 2018 perfume oil, and a 2024 body mist, and the late 90s EDT and 2024 body mist smell most like each other. The 2018 perfume oil is actually the odd man out, with a sharper opening. I actually think they did a good job getting this, and the vanilla, closer to how they smelled in the 90s

The 2018 Body Shop White Musk smells closer to Body Fantasies White Musk, with a slightly sharper opening than the 90s & 2024 versions.

Fresh & Pretty White Musk, also owned by Parfums de Coeur like Body Fantasies, also smells similar to the 90s Body Shop White Musk. The opening isn’t as “sharp” as the Body Fantasies & 2018 Body Shop White Musk.

I have all of these, and have been comparing.

As far as longevity, I sprayed the Body Shop 2024 body mist on my wrists last night, and could still smell it in the morning. I actually can with all of these. Maybe it’s not quite as long lasting as the 2018 oil, but it’s really not bad.

LDNA

I definitely get a strong, synthetic hairspray smell from this. From the first spray to the drydown and beyond. It’s nauseating. Must be my skin chemistry because I can’t imagine the majority of people even pretending to like this.

quuaach

Was gifted the vegan perfume oil version for my birthday. So elegant! It smells very mature and sultry so it's not quite my thing, I definitely enjoy more fruity and youthful perfumes but I do admit this is a beautiful fragrance. I think it's very androgynous for a women's fragrance. If you're into a well-groomed, clean, corporate, "i'm not wearing perfume" aesthetic I think you would enjoy this <3 It's much like the name suggests, it's musky and smells skin-like if that makes sense. On me, I don't notice very much of the floral notes listed.

emilia123

I tried this because it was said to be a stronger version of White Musk by Jovan (one of my favorites). These are very similar indeed, but there's something slightly dirtier about this one - maybe from the iris, the type of jasmine, or the lily - that makes me like this one quite a bit less. Maybe it'll grow on me.

nomi00

this smells very motherly to me. its clean and slightly soapy but also really sensual and cozy. not much of a perfumey smell, it just has a very well put-together and warm, clean vibe to it. could see this being a bit old fashioned but its just one of those scents that you can throw on and smell very effortless wearing. i have the mist version of this, so i will be spritzing this on a lot for when i want to smell like being enveloped in a mothers hug haha

cherrypie099

I thought I loved this but the more I smell it, the more it reminds me of a public washroom. Real piss stink in the background that I can’t get out of my head now… I just think I have better musk perfumes tbh

lyhtac

Very comforting and sleep friendly! I prefer the body mist version over EDT which I find overpowering.

update: after two months, I found myself reaching to it less and less. Its animalic drydown frowns me more and more. I decided to give it away to a guy and he loves it! I realized it's actually more masculine and not so much for me. I sampled it while having a cold, so it seemed to be softer than it actually is.

raconie

i have a roll-on. i feel crazy for this but this is just bizarrely masculine on me. it bears a sort of unsettling resemblance to gillette shaving cream, as if i let it melt into my skin. its clean, intimate. good for first impressions, a date maybe, but i would struggle to reach for this over something more standout, more playful.

abcdefgeps

Old formulation - My only perfume for 10+ years. It was so beautiful. I've been saving up the last 2ml of it that I have.

New formulation - I hate that they did this. It smells so watered down. It used to stay on me for 8+ hours, but this new one does not stay as long.

If you can still grab the old formulation, buy that instead.

pittam

Way sexual and sultry for my taste, but I can imagine ladies with warm body temperatures or round body type would fit this perfume very well, a good date night perfume.

FragranceFatale

Well there you go. Natura the Brazilian company that bought the body shop from L’Oréal have just sold it! No surprises there! Terrible customer service, products changes that were terrible. Watered down perfume formulas and completely ruined white musk. Fingers crossed the new company goes back to the original formula in the perfume oils and brings back the old favourites. Natura completely destroyed the body shop I don’t shop there now at all because of them. Will be keeping an eye out to see if things improve

Sound Adream

Such a beautiful scent. A cult classic. I’ve known and liked this scent for probably 20 years. It’s “soft” and powdery but I also find it sensual and mysterious. Even though it's a well known perfume, I still find it unique and I don't smell it on too many people. It's cruelty free and vegan as well as relatively affordable. The only down side is that it doesn't last as long as I would like it to.

maddieonline

This is such a beautiful, clean, fresh yet sweet musk. I can't get it out of my head, it isn't too heavy or cloying and melts into your skin. On me it doesn't seem to last more than maybe 6 hours, but by the time it reaches that point it has become a beautiful intimate skin scent. I would definitely like to get a bottle of this - it's fresh without being sharp and sweet without being synthetic and really does the whole 'your skin but better' thing well.

jule9

Strong and clean but in a dirty way. A person below very accurately compared this perfume to Laura Palmer and I fully agree. It's like when you first spray and smell this, it's for others to see, an association with cleanliness, well-groomed skin and freshly laundered clothes. Nice on the surface. But then as the day progresses and you sniff your wrist where body heat helped this perfume develop, it's a completely different scent. The musk takes on almost a sexual, raw note, boring into your nose and forcing some dirty thoughts into your brain lol. It becomes strikingly intimate. I can't get this out of my head and can't decide if it should be my outdoor scent or just for me.

Gabsp28

A very easy perfume for most to wear. I have the edt, so it doesn't last very long, but at the same time it's not overbearing or offensive. I like to wear this mostly autumn month. It's a light scent, I definitely get the white flowers and musk in it, as the name suggests. It's a perfume I absolutely loved in my teens, but as the years have gone by, not so much a perfume I reach for anymore. Still think it's a great scent for decent price. But it now hold more sentimental value for me, as my granny bought this for me when I was younger, so it's why I have continued to buy it over the years.

gonegirl

(review for the vegan perfume oil)
very discreet, soft and clean without being sterile/overly soapy. smells like clean skin and clothes, not like perfume at all. i really like that the formula is alcohol-free because i’m sensitive to the smell of alcohol and it ruins a lot of perfumes for me. it does sit close to the skin but this isn’t the kind of thing that should have a 10 foot projection anyway
update: this has NO projection whatsoever lmao, not even an intimate one. you won't even be able to smell it on yourself

perfumelovere

The original that my generation wore in the nineties was absolutely stunning, sexy, floral, animalic and artfully composed. One of my top five perfumes of all time that was pleasing to all. The Body Shop used to have awesome products but the last time I tried something in the 2010's I decided my Body Shop days were over. The brand lost it's magic.

DaIIe

Those searching for a replacement for the long lost beauty that was the original White Musk oil - Arabian Opulence White Musk is a note perfect dupe for under a fiver. You're welcome :)

cmh9217

Easily one of my top 5 of all time. A very lovely fresh and inoffensive White Musk, not at all heavy, unless you are the type to immerse your entire body in it, that is..LOL. The ONLY kind of Musk that I can vibe with.

Bought my first bottle of the perfume oil in the mid ‘90’s (round bottle black cap). I either went through or lost that first bottle, and the next time I went to buy it sometime in the mid or late 2000’s, the packaging had changed to the purple glass bottle with the clear cap (shown here). I really can’t say that I noticed too much of a difference between the two, perhaps the black cap oil version projected and lasted a bit longer? I have NO idea where my 2nd bottle of perfume oil is, but I know that I have a bit left in it. I must have hid it from myself! 🤬

I have wanted it again for a couple of years now, but I haven’t had the patience to go through ALL of my stuff to find my bottle. Finding out last year that it had been reformulated and that it isn’t the same was quite depressing and I haven’t had the motivation to go and sample the new stuff.

So…I recently began a mission to try and acquire a vintage bottle of the perfume oil…but…HOLY HELL…the current asking prices are NUTS! Minimum $80?? Not in my current budget!! But via my searches last week, I found ONE listing for full 3.3 oz of the Fragrance Mist in the pre-reformulation purple bottle for DIRT CHEAP. I snapped that up lickety split!! And it smells PERFECT! I haven’t tested it’s strength and longevity yet, but for now I’m completely satisfied until I’m able to fork out some crazy cash for the vintage stuff.

muskylover

I have the White Musk lotion. It is perfect as a bedtime scent and moisturizes well. It is relaxing with the perfect dry musky fragrance that can absolutely make your nighttime ritual complete.

susieaw4

I was sat in a class and kept smelling a nice fragrance. It was a very feel good smell, like when somebody gets out of a shower. I thought it might be a violet smell. I worked out that it was coming from a woman next to me and asked what she had on, and was surprised that she said The Body Shop, White Musk. I'm going to buy some now.

Fick von Nacht und Tag

This used to be amazing, magical, sexy and powerful. Now it's just a super sad and weird. Where's the musk? No sillage or longevity at all.

SauvageHater

If you think the EDP is good, wait until you own the perfume oil. And try to find the ones in the original bottle before it was reformulated for the full experience.
This is what I call a versatile perfume.
12 years ago I smell this fragrance on my female high school friend and I.. am.. OBSESSED.
I was a shy girl and had no courage of asking what the perfume she was wearing.
So back then, everyday, I waited for her at the front gate of the school just to take a whiff and a sniff.
Weird, I know.
But that was what The Body Shop's White Musk do to a human, it made you a simp and an addict. It's a classic, familiar smell, clean, and sexy. Skin-like smell. Whatever occasion it is, white musk will be perfect for you.

Flowerfruit

I blind bought this and am returning it. I have the reformulated vegan EDT version since the original was discontinued. It smells like something an older hippie would wear. Too mature and musky for me.

fragmig

I don’t like the reformulation… and that is so sad, since the old White Musk was simply magical. I still wear the new one sometimes. But it is not near as good. Anyway, I truly respect the decision if it was done because of company becoming vegan. (wasn’t it already vegan before?)

For those who still wanna try it after reformulation - it’s quite sharp and fresh musk, at least to me, but it is staying close to skin. A mature and serious aroma. A little bit like ironed sheets.

ohmydarlingcats

It's not the sharp, soapy musk. It's the buttery your skin but oh - so much better.

I can strangely feel the peach skin so vividly on my skin. The waxy lily really makes people think that you literally sweat perfume.

Oh how sensual. How cozy. How heart-warming.

Fill me a bathtub with it. Price does not pay (hehe) a role! I want it! I need it!

helenfran

I rediscovered this fragrance a few years ago and it took my back to my teens in a cosy, powdery, musky hug. I wore it almost daily until they reformulated and repackaged it from the purple in to the clear bottle. It's now much weaker and lasts nowhere near as long. I'm now on my last bottle of the original formula and won't re-purchase after it has gone. Disappointed beyond words and desperately searching for a replacement

FragranceFatale

Yes fuzzy peach was amazing!!! I still have a half bottle of the original black cap fuzzy peach in a 30 ml and I savour it 🥰…. Still smells exactly as it did when I bought it. The oil actually felt like an oil and the scent was strong and a tiny swipe off the stick was so powerful and you could smell it all day….. sigh 😔 …. Now the texture of the oils are watery and thin and there’s just no potency! Like these are supposed to be perfume! Not just a lightly scented body oil that you rub all over and get a slight scent for an hour. These are tiny bottles that are supposed to be used sparingly and smell strong enough to be used as perfume. What were they thinking?? They have ruined a sentimental and cherished product that so many of us rely on for memories and feel good moments to make us enjoy just those small little things that make such a difference. Money and greed have taken over everything Shame on you body shop for following that trend, Anita would be saddened as that is not what she created the body shop to stand for ☹️

perfumelovere

If we're talking about the Body Shop perfume oils from the 1990's and early 2000's then this white musk was glorious as were fuzzy peach, strawberry, etc. Last time I tried a perfume there about five years ago it had next to no concentration and the texture of the lotion was garbage. They used to carry phenomenal products for a good price.

FragranceFatale

Ok updating my last review….. I’m so done with this! I have been a customer of the body shop since I was 17 I’m now 42. I buy the body butters and the white musk range, NOT ANYMORE!!! This vegan change is the end for me. I’ve stuck by them through discontinuing all my favourite perfume oils over the years and countless other products. Not to mention the disgusting customer service from the company that purchased the body shop. That’s a whole other story, but that alone has been enough for me to say goodbye to them. And the body butters are no longer smooth they are lumpy. They don’t apply well and they’re not as moisturising. The white musk oil has been watered down to almost nothing and smells as weak as an eu de toilette. So unless the body shop start actually listening to their customers, trying to tell them what they actually want I’m done and will no longer purchase any more products from them unfortunately.

adew

DO NOT BUY THE VEGAN FORMULA! I been a solid wearer of this since early 2000's and because Body Shop feels the need to save insects (major eye-roll) they removed the main ingredient that gave it its powdery quality, which is SEEDLAC, I believe comes from bees, and it doesn't even harm them like OMG!! Anyway that's beside the point. I may sound rude, but by the end of the day, I am not an animal person (because i am allergic!!!) and I don't care where you get the scent from, just as long as you GET IT RIGHT!!!!

When I sprayed the vegan formula I got a HORRDENOUS blast of dirty, cheap, plain and non-complex musk. Where's the powdery quality, where is the iris? Just because you want to be vegan doesn't mean us faithful white musk wearers have to accept your reformulation. YOU FAILED!

This is now a dupe for the very nasty BODY FANTASIES "Fresh white musk" that smells exactly like it now which is a cheap $6.00 body spray sold at drugstores. You failed this time Body Shop. Not only me, but millions of your customers have been complaining how bad it smells now. Low-key screw your vegan formulas body shop, yep, I said it, YOU HEARD ME BODY SHOP!!!, they have been proving to be an ultimate fail For not only WHITE MUSK, but your other perfumes too, but the body shop is so up their highfalutin asses about being vegan, they don't care! I will not be back and I will not repurchase, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE VEGAN FORMULA! I will however, cherish, the memory of the original white musk that once was. DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!

Can you tell I'm mad, well I AM lol.

brainbomb

I expected muskfloral instead I got hairspray.

jleezlg

this smells like toilet spray in a public restroom to me, made me gag when i smelt it on my hand..

amberblackred

I like musky fragrances and I started using this one few years back. It's warm & cosy like snuggling someone close by a borne fire. It used to be my go to winter perfume. It stays long and is noticable. But musky perfumes are not everyone's cup of tea. It needs an acquired taste. Even with this one, it grew on me quickly. Not gonna lie, it makes me feel warm just by how it smells on me even in the cold. No risk winter perfume. Also, it is a bit sensual in nature. Good to wear in intimate settings.

pennyligeia

This is just extremely weak, body spray. Barely scented, mostly water.
Save your money. Even at a low cost, it isn't worth anything.

RobynCrabtree

Blind bought based on glowing reviews and because it's so cheap. This is the most neutral fragrance to me; I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It's not for me. Reminds me of someone who has just bathed with Irish Spring Soap combined with a slight burnt toast scent. It's not offensive, nor does it seem like a compliment getter. Just meh. Leans slightly masculine on my skin. Not worth the hype. As far as skin scents go, I prefer Glossier You, but this has less rubbing alcohol smell than JHAG Not a Perfume.

Shwets

I cannot agree more with fragrancefatale below. The reformulation is so disappointing in terms of longevity as it smells lovely. The body mist is gone within a couple of hours and i am being generous here. The lotion is also so much weaker.
Better to stock up on the older versions.

FragranceFatale

The new packaging and vegan formulation of this is so so disappointing 🤨😔….. Yes it’s white musk and it smells lovely, when you sniff about 10 times up close after applying a huge amount of this! I literally had a mess all up my arm from over applying this just so I could smell it. I actually can’t believe how watered down they made this!!! I agree with the comment it was always vegan, feels like they used that excuse to repackage and water it down. It literally is gone without a trace in less than 2 hours. I have stocked up on the old bottles thank goodness and compared them side by side. Once I’m out of the old bottles I will no longer buy as I can’t justify bothering with this anymore considering my perfume sprays of nearly all other brands including celebrities lasts longer than this now. What a tragedy as I’ve worn this for 25 years ☹️

Dani83

This fragrance is easy to wear and smells beautiful and takes me back to 90s as I always had a solid stick perfume in my stocking at Christmas along with anya definitely a compliment getter

Keiman2005

Despite the low price, it's the most complimented fragrance from my partner...... It's an innocent seductive type of fragrance. Men just love it more than any other designer/luxurious perfume. Just musk and white floral.... nothing more, simple but beautiful. It's very affordable thats why I recommend everyone to try it. Plus the roller oil is good for layering.

JamieSmells

This is my review on the roll on oil. This perfume smells nice, a typical musk scent but it does not last nor project. This lasts no more than 1 sad hour, I sniffed my wrist and could not smell it after an hour. Pretty pathetic given the Body Shop was known for their long lasting perfume oils. I will not buy this again, Jovan White musk is much better and about the same price.

kiwidog39

a very clean scent; really musky and nice.

Jumana.shattel

All time perfume this one is so me

sailorneptune

oh the memories this scent gives me. this used to be my signature fragrance back in high school when my mom gave it to me as a birthday gift. such a light airy fragrance (my skin but better type of stuff). whenever i saw my crush, i would spray on a little more of this because i thought it would grab his attention since it was the first scent that i truly loved and i thought that this was enough to catch people's attention (trust me it isn't but its a lovely scent). ever since i started wearing this scent around him, he would be nicer to me for some reason until we got closer and finally told me that he actually liked this scent on me. we were a thing for a while but what do you expect from a puppy love back in high school haha! its just nice to reminisce about these things when we were truly happy.

also idk if this still has the same notes it had from back then now that it's vegan. haven't tried this for years already.

nique_nax

a truly beautiful scent. some may say it smells like sweat or piss, but not at all to this wonderful nose of mine. It gives me such beautiful memories, nothing beats the body shop's red musk but this is as close as it can get. fuck you the body shop for discontinuing red musk. I will boycott f they also discontinue this gem.

Edit:
sum girl said it smells like sewage water. she does not have a wonderful nose like mine. Everyone loves it on me.

t0ocozy

My cheapest fragrance, yet my favorite scent! A very happy scent; I love it. Wayyy toOOOO COzyyyyy.

AdalynEverly

I heard about this perfume, and I'm a white musk, iris, and jasmine kind of girl so I decided to give it a try. I as very disappointed it that I believe that this fragrance reminds me of an adult who was strict, and mean towards me. I strongly believe that they had worn this exact fragrance. So I associate this with them. Pretty sad considering I would've love this perfume if that person didn't wear it.

River.c

I'm a sucker for floral, powdery scents. But this one smells too much like... A generic sweet lotion scent that vaguely reminds me of freshly cleaned ladies public comfort rooms once it lands on the skin. Or those free lotion pumps that come in fancy public ladies' comfort rooms. I'd spray it on my clothes for that light and sweet clean scent, but I avoid having it on my skin for that reason. Also, for something that claims to be EDP, it has very poor staying power. Works very much like a light cologne you can buy at a drugstore. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't say it's a good buy either.

Floral musk

AutumnJewel

Note For MySelf:
For not being a huge fan of white musk this wasn’t unpleasant , it was nice to layer the oil with.

marinejuana

surprisingly, among all the forms of TBS White Musk, roll on has the best performance. It is easy to apply and leaves a nice trail everytime I apply and makes me feel happy and confident. No need to bargain on EDP, EDT or the perfume oil. Use the roll on, that is the best.

marinejuana

we spend so many time and money to find the true fragrance for us but no need to go so far, it is just next to us. White musk is that scent, minimal and gorgeous in its simplicity

marinejuana

This review is for EDT - White Musk The Body Shop. This summer I tried Body Fantasies White Musk first. Though it is a nice and clean musk, it is very harsh at first 10 minutes ut then fades away quickly. Following the reviews here, I decided to try TBS White Musk this time. I purchased a 30 ml bottle of EDT, the very new minimalistic bottle. It looks genderless but gives a clean feeling and the cap is very cute. I found TBS White Musk well blended but very light. Does not stay on skin but somehow sticks on clothes. I can feel the scent all day after a few spritz. There is a looong list of notes but all I can smell is a clean musk. I found it better than Jovan Musk which I could not use previously because of some stinky notes. Hard to explain but Jovan Musk did not stay clean on my skin. TBS White Musk does. It relaxes me and lifts my mood. It is good for everyday use, for work, for a weekend outside; but for sure it wont work for a night out, not that strong. The bottle is genderless as I mentioned, and the scent itself can be determined as unisex as well. Anyone confident can carry this perfectly I think. Some may find it more on the female side but this scent is something beyond a perfume, it is like a tattoo, something which happens to be a part of you. I love it.

Naqwalan

A no-fuss musk scent. I've loved it since my university days over a decade ago and still wear it now. In my opinion the cleanest musk fragrance there is.

kylieuwu

Don't know what other people are smelling. This to me smells exactly like a public restroom- as in the cheap cleaning supplies used to clean it. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to smell like a public restroom.

Subhuman

Madonna's "Holiday", bottled. An instantly charming, springtime and sunshine, perfect white T-shirt scent. I have a suspicion my cool older sister, a lifelong Body Shop devotee, wore this when I was growing up in the '90s; it smells more familiar to me (and just plain better) than other cheap-and-cheerful musks like Jovan. The musk here is clean, but not scrubbed and sanitized - there's still a living human meant to wear this. Banish any thoughts of shrill laundry musks from your mind, because TBS White Musk is emphatically not that. It's warm, soft, sexy, and disarming. I'm not sure if/how much it's been reformulated over the decades (not years, *decades*), but I get enough misty scent memories from one sniff of the current juice that surely the proper tune is being played. Well enough for me, anyway - despite the overall youthful presentation, there's a delightfully retro, almost leathery whiff about White Musk that puts a smile on my face. I carry the rollerball oil in my day bag for an easy mood boost. It's perfect.

Don't buy the oil perfume. They are not the same as the spray

Lollypopp

I've loved this perfume and have been wearing it since my High School days. My beautiful mother also used to wear this occasionally. I have recently restocked on everything from the shower gel, body lotion, Eau de Parfum, Body Mist and Perfume Oil. This fragrance needs to be layered for it to have any chance of lasting. It is such a gorgeous scent, hard to describe, the musk is the stand out note but I can't make out a particular floral, I think it is the combination of flowers in the formulation that makes this scent so iconic. This is the ONLY floral perfume that I adore, and it is my most complimented perfume. I'm mostly a fruity gourmand/vanilla lover but this perfume has captured my heart and soul. Soothing, pretty and nostalgic, just perfect. It will always be in my collection from now on.

Mobrien37

This is just divine. I absolutely adore this perfume with a passion. It’s gorgeous. If it was edible, I’d eat it. However it is so very weak. I have the Eau de toilette, Eau de parfum and the perfume oil. I spray all three at once in copious amounts. I’ve never had a compliment on this perfume because nobody can ever smell it. I don’t mind, I wear it for myself. It’s so damn lovely.

thebewitchingyasmine

My first "real perfume".
I first smelled this on a beautiful girl from my secondary school called Amirah. Powdery to such an extent that the first sniff has a squeaky clean texture, but a very comforting scent. Mostly for nostalgic reasons, I find it far too sterile now.

wiley1111

This was my high school scent, I wore it on my wrists and it soaked into the fabric strap of my watch. My boyfriend at the time stole my watch because he loved the smell so much. His friend stole it off him because he loved it too. I miss that watch. I miss this scent. Might buy a bottle for old times sake.

I notice that the representative image up top has been altered to reflect the version prior to the new formula/design.
May I please suggest a new review page for the new vegan version be put up on here to avoid confusion between reviews of these earlier formulas (which did actually smell alike, in their varying strengths and concentrations,) and the current, latest formula (onwards, henceforth) which has been formulated to be vegan and is not in-keeping with the scent profile of the earlier versions....
Surely there should be another page to represent the newer, vegan version?

FragranceFatale

I have been wearing this perfume for 25 years. I have always loved it it really never gets old. You can Layer it and smells beautiful on its own. I was terrified with a recent vegan reformulation looming over the original oil. The EDT and the EDP seems to have changed scent it is definitely different. Out of fear of the oil changing I just purchased four of the old style oil. After smelling the small-roll on oil in the new vegan formula it doesn’t smell too different in the oil form. Maybe a touch lighter and a little fresher maybe but not too drastically different. I’m definitely glad I did purchase four of the old style bottles though because the new bottle that is coming out is just truly ugly. It has lost its dainty feminine touch and just looks hideous in my personal opinion. While I do appreciate the recycled glass etc they could have made it more feminine and pretty it just looks really ugly. Almost looks like a bottle of men’s cologne in a small form. I used to love the little round clear glass bottle with the black lid the original packaging and was upset when they changed it to the purple genie shaped bottle with the glass applicator. But that I can definitely live with because it is much prettier than what they have done to it now. I know it’s only packaging but it just makes applying this less of a luxury experience in my opinion. I used to love pulling out my cute little bottle to apply but now I will be decanting my new fragrance into my older style bottle for sure. Not sure who approved the new design for the bottle but it Definitely has lost its feminine charm that’s for sure.

jellybeantree

I have the new formula and I personally think it lasts on my skin. I’ve been wearing this since the 90’s and it was my signature. I like this new version better than the purple bottle. This reminds me more of the original. I have a small oil rollerball because the 30ml oil version hasn’t came out yet. Been wearing it for 5h and it is still there. My favourite musk of all time. Update:
After 8 hours I could still smell this on my skin. Ahhhhh wonderful

LinnieR

Sweet and inoffensive, simple and intimate. Reminds me of both baby powder and fresh laundry (in a good way)

SoozieQ

I've been wearing White Musk (TBS) since the 80's. Everyone buys me it for birthdays/Christmas. This was the only perfume I have worn since then. I noticed over the years that it was getting weaker and weaker, but it still smelled the same, and I still loved it. Until now, that is! This new vegan formula is completely different and significantly weaker; the 'smell' had disappeared almost instantly! The old signature White Musk is no longer there, the same with the shower gel, body lotion, and oil roll on. I have 3 of each I received for a birthday in November and haven't touched them! I feel The Body Shop will lose a lot of long-term custom if this isn't fixed! Like another reviewer, I also remember the huge vats behind the tills :) I am now on the hunt to find a similar one 🤞

EauDePrì

Back in 2016, when I was crazy about Kdramas (I still am ;) ) This particular drama called Goblin caught my fancy. The lead actor was so yummy...Gong yoo. So long story short, the actor gifts this perfume to the lead actress and just so that I could feel the fantasy I ended up buying it without testing it.
It smells warm and cozy, the musk here is so clean...however, it is very similar to Jovan white musk which I own too.
The sillage intensifies during fall and it is a very comfortable office Fragrance.

Used to wear this in high school and loved the scent!

Randomly testing this EDP at The Body Shop four years ago was probably one of the best discoveries I have ever made. I'm not mush of a perfume person, since to me, many perfumes smell overbearing accompanied by a headache, but this one just smelled so soft, clean and comforting. I returned to the store but opted to buy the perfume oil as I wanted something free from alcohol. I find that the scent is intimate (which I actually prefer), and I cannot smell it after a couple hours, however others around me can smell it for couple more hours. Despite that, White Musk has become my signature scent and the only perfume I have owned and actually enjoyed for the past four years! I have heard that The Body Shop is working to "veganify" all their products. I hope any reformulations will not significantly affect the quality of this scent.

kailin

Sure easy to wear total able to wear it all day any day. I use rebook version and it lasted for 3 hours down side is having to reapply but that range offer a lot of bottle size which easy to bring them around to reapply. Smell like powder to me.

Intrepid-Taste-1111

honestly, the body shop is so underrated for their scents. everyone should have a bottle of white musk from the body shop. just a super comforting and clean musk. it’s a cuddle fragrance for sure, it makes you want to get close to it

DieT CroaK

I chose a weird time to get invested in the infamous Body Shop White Musk. It’s totally out of stock on the website and at most stores. The site says that they are working on restocking but that could mean that they are repackaging and possibly reformulating this (again)? It seems like they are “vegan-izing” the formula. The EDT has been repackaged in a vegan, Vitamin Shoppe-y looking bottle. That would be fine except that their loyal customers are already complaining that it’s weaker and noticeably different. The oil still seems to be available in the purple tinted bottles. I don’t know, there’s no real information yet. If anyone knows, please tell. I was lucky to have found a bottle of the original EDP on EBay for about $30 but holy God is the price gouging getting insane. I guess if you love this too then get what you can while it’s available.

I heard that this was similar to Jovan white musk. It’s a lot like the vintage version, yes. The newer versions aren’t as good in my opinion. TBS white musk is what everyone said it would be. It’s definitely adequate enough to wear alone. This just envelopes you in a simplistic hygienic little bubble. I don’t find it overly powdery and it’s not a realistic animalic musk to my nose. It straddles somewhere in between. I do get the clean laundry comments but it’s not screechy or overpowering. The perfume oil in the little 30 ml opaque purple bottle performs really well. I definitely go anosmic to it after a while but it’s still present. I love to layer the oil with the perfume to intensify the scent. It’s serves as the perfect base for a lot of the perfume I have. I really do understand the hype, I just wish I had known sooner. If TBS is reformulating and you can’t get your hands on a bottle then I think Jovan is a pretty good substitute. I really like Al-Rehab’s version of white musk also but I feel like it’s not as similar to TBS and fades faster.

P.S.

I recently tried Avon’s Soft Musk (the newer 2017 formulation). It truly does smell very similar to the Body Shop’s White Musk prior to reformulation. It’s just a smidge sweeter and soapier but pretty close.

fiifii07

This perfume is a perfect "my skin but better" smell : versatile, fresh, and non offensive. Like you can't go wrong with this one. However, there is drugstore perfume that smells exactly like this in my country (but in cologne form). With moderate to weak projection I prefer the drugstore one :)

Turbo

I had a girlfriend who wore this circa 1994 and I couldn't stop the urge to kiss her. Fun times. I purchased a bottle for the reminder, it has to dry. For the first five or so minutes it has a floral scent and not the sweet musky smell as it dries and soaks into the skin. An hour later, this stuff is incredible. It smells exactly like it did back then. It also has similarities to Egyptian Musk. Ladies out there take my advice... you will not be dissapointed. A moderate spritz for any woman should attract men.

perfumelovere

Back in the 90's when fragrances were beasts you could smell this in every classroom and hallway in my junior high (middle school). The original formula was gorgeous but I'm sure it has been watered down to a mere fragment of what it initially was.

lizziepatricia

I just got the perfume oil, perhaps it is different, but I just get pure baby powder. It softens over time, but this is not what I have understood as white musk. I am giving it to my mom.

rosebudhoney

This is like a grown up version of Baby Soft! It’s soft and gentle and works well alone or as a layering scent. I bought the perfume oil version so I can utilize more for layering, but it’s also nice alone. Longevity is surprisingly good for such a light scent. It’s pleasing to everyone and perfect for any time of day, but especially a little garden picnic.

AppleSpice

This perfume stands as one of the best musk based fragrances out there. It far surpasses musky designer fragrances. It begins with a lovely floral note, and then sort of settles down into this amazing musky fragrance that interacts really well with your personal body chemistry. It is one of the most complimented fragrances, and also one of the most unique. Can’t go wrong with body shop white musk, and the reasonable price is a great perk!

Annemarie

The current EDT in the clear bottle is very weak. I can hardly smell it even fresh out of the bottle. Of course it could be that I have trouble smelling the musks, but in the past, although I've never owned a bottle until now, I remember White Musk having some presence at least. This has almost none. Disappointed.

spicypepper_77

Another musk scent I love! I try to scrimp on my bottle, haha! I like to spritz this on during shopping or grocery days, I do not know why. But probably because it makes me fee a bit positive and light. Just as the fragrance is light on the nose.

ShannonIk

This is not a bad scent; and, I think it would layer very well under a number of things. And, I think that it does what it's supposed to do: be a soft, comforting scent that doesn't attract a lot of attention. It's light, inoffensive and pretty enough.

This is useful; particularly in an office setting. However, I just want a little more from my perfume - and, it may be that being by myself in quarantine is impacting my style so that I'm just inclined to go for more bombastic, beast mode scents. For right now, while I don't find anything wrong with this bottle, I don't find enough right with it to reach for it that often.

elegantshnozzie

Before going to the body shop I was set on getting the white musk perfume oil. While I was there I tested out the edp and perfume oil side by side and was very surprised. The oil was extremely subtle so much so I had to really actively try and smell it, and when I got a true whiff there was a strange Elmer's glue smell. I unexpectedly left with the edp. :,( but i romanticized the process of applying the oil with the wand! and the petite bottle!

Edp is the way to go! If I had to compare this to Jovann's White musk I would say this is the fuller, more floral sister. It is a simple thing done right. While it has the fresh laundry smell it isn't starchy like Jovann's and feels more wet and fresh than dry and fresh. The other day my brother said it best :"you smell like sweet fresh water".

While this isn't a perfume I think anyone would spray on a blotter in a store and say "i HAVE to leave with this!!" it is a perfume that settles into your skin, hair, and clothes, and makes you slowly fall in love.

angremedios14

Not the same perfume oil that I've bought back then. Still good though, just a bit bland.

Aliciajadelangkell

the edp smells nice clean and like a simple white musk but the body lotion is gross smelling like sweat .

ChelleBelle84

Recently, I had the opportunity to go in a Body Shop store and look around. Of course they had this there. The formulation that is there now is a bit weaker than the one before it, and that’s for one reason, oak moss. Since the EU’s ban on oak moss, the IFRA has been closely monitoring to ensure compliance. Because oak moss has been decreasing in each formulation, that is why people are finding the scent getting weaker with poor longevity. Oak moss was a fixative used to prolong longevity. Whatever they are using in its place is not working.

It’s not The Body Shop’s fault. They have to comply with the law. I can tell you that the scent is still lovely. So, try this to see if these two things helps with longevity when using this product. If using the perfume oil try layering by using the body products sold in this scent. While at the store, I picked up on the shower gel and body lotion and I have to say, they are wonderful and relaxing. If using just the edt or edp, try using argon oil in the areas where you are spraying the product to see if that improves longevity.

Hope it helps!

Alice...LikeWonderland

I agree with Stassa's assessment that White Musk has been significantly reformulated over the years, I wore this for years as a teenager in the late 90s and into the early 2000s. However I do feel like the spirit of the original remains. I stopped in at a Body Shop today on a whim and tried it for old times sake. On talking to the legend in the shop he let me know that the bottles on the shelf I was looking at (clear bottles with the white lids) were the recently reformulated versions but there was a table of discounted older versions at the front.
These bottles with the purple tint on the bottom smelled more similar to what I remember. It's a clean, almost soapy, fluffy musk. Not as syrupy as I remember but still lovely and approachable. The florals feel more prominent than I remember but they disappear in the dry down. At $35 for 50ml I'm very pleased I bought a bottle. There's something very soft and charming about it.. Obviously, it's been popular for something like 25 years

poppymae83

Reminds me of a soft floral incense, not the worst scent but feels more mature. For me after it dried it smelt too powdery for my liking. A good scent if you're looking for an earthy/floral musk thats not overpowering.

Alexandrarosario

I had this and used to wore this back when i was in college. It's a warm fragrance. It smells good actually but since so many people use it, turned out a bit boring. It does last around 3-5 hours on me.

rosesblanches

Reviewing for the Body Mist. Soft, calming, soapy. A little different from the white musk room scent I bought over 10years ago, but I like this better. Lasts ok,about 4-5 hours with the fan blowing at me. Shelf life is short, 2 years. I love this and when I am pissed off, I smell this to remind myself that nice things exist.

Stassa

I went through several bottles of The Body Shop's "White Musk" perfume oil. This has clearly been reformulated since The Body Shop's acquisition by L'Oreal in 2006, and not in a good way. It's still a nice perfume oil, but compared to the pre-2006 version, it's overly synthetic and a shell of its former self. In the late 90s/early 2000s, when it was still marketed with a black cap and the perfume oil's color was yellow (almost resembling the color of castor oil), it was an extremely intense perfume oil that lasted throughout the day (and night) and left its scent on clothes, linen, etc. I wish I still had one of those vintage bottles left. The last bottle I bought was one with a white cap in 2007. I didn't know of Body Shop's acquisition by L'Oreal then, but the perfume smelled synthetic and weak. I have stopped buying it since and only tested it once on the purple bottle that they sell now. Wow, it is even weaker than the 2007 reformulation. I guess it smells nice to people who have never had the opportunity to smell the real thing back in the 90s, but to me it's completely forgettable now. A great shame, since this used to be one of the most popular scents for almost 3 decades and created a league of its own.

brendawbp

I love TBS in general. I used to wear their TBS White Musk Smoky Rose, but sadly they discontinued it. Asked the lady at TBS for the closest perfume, it’s still not the same however. All in all, I still like this one, but I wish they would bring the smoky rose back :’)
White Musk is soft, easy to wear, good for daily use. I use this for everyday to work. It’s scent is not in my colleagues face.

BerryRose

The Body's Shop's signature fragrance is velvety, quiet, and sophisticated despite being universally purchased by teenage girls who roamed shopping malls in the 90s.

There's musk in the top, middle, and base notes, combined with a number of florals (lily, ylang ylang, rose, jasmine) and mosses that makes this a really good example of the soft, powdery, sweet, musky, creamy essence that defines the soft floral family. Like most soft floral - crisp musk fragrances this has a relaxed vibe that is perfect for wearing at home.

chelseamurdock

Strangely, this perfume (and also the EDT) is one of the most complimented fragrances in my collection. It always seems to be the most simple perfumes that garner me the most positive comments from others haha. When I wear this, people often tell me that I smell really fresh and clean and “nice”. However, it’s not so fresh and clean smelling that it would be weird to wear it in all seasons. The gentle amber note at the base gives it some tinge of warmth. It’s a clean and powdery musk, but I also almost pick up a white tea note which adds this slight earthy, comforting aura. It’s linear and inoffensive, and the lasting power is average to poor.

This scent is the equivalent to a classic white T-shirt and jeans in perfume form. Very easy to wear, office friendly, and something I reach for when I’m in a rush and not sure what to put on during the day - a grab & go fragrance.

Beccyb95

This smells like scented nappy bags/baby powder. However, it’s cheap, it has great longevity, and I’d imagine it’s lovely layered with other scents. I wouldn’t wear it on its own though.

Nirvana_Glassmenagerie

I'm not a huge fan of musk, but after trying several of the body shop musk lines, I found that I preferred this one.
Mainly bought because my fiancé likes this scent on me. It's warm and spicy. Can be a little overpowering. Tried layering it with other scents but it just takes over.
Sillage and longevity is ok for the price point, but could be better for a perfume oil.

Claire's_Not_French

I have been a fan of White Musk since my teenage years. I smelled it again in college (after I had moved on to green tea, fruit, and/or cherry blossom scents) when a very worldly and cultured woman I babysat for had a bottle of the perfume oil on the bathroom vanity. This perfume has happy memories for me and always just smells warm, inviting, and classy to my nose.

I recently got a splash sample of the EDT and purchased a 1 oz EDT bottle based on that. However, I have now gone through half that bottle and have ordered the eau de parfum since the EDT doesn't last all that long on me. I don't love oil application so I'm hoping this spray will be the strength I'm seeking.

On me this is straight musk. There are no floral notes (thank goodness) or fruit or herbal notes as is listed in the breakdown above. Not sure why it looks so complicated on paper but in real life it's very straightforward. This is a one note samba danced to perfection- a true classic and I hope they don't stop making it any time soon.

rosegoldrosie

This was "my scent" for about three years in high school. (The body mist version). Whenever I sprayed it in the classroom or corridor, people would say "It smells like Rosie in here!" I finished high school around 2016, so virtually nobody I knew was wearing this (I think it was more popular in the 90's era), which made me feel really unique. I liked how fresh, uncomplicated and calming it smelt. It wasn't too mature/grown up or sexy for a 15 year old, but it wasn't a sugar bomb "young" perfume either. I didn't wear anything but this for about three years, and a couple of times in the later years when I tried it, I still liked the scent a lot but didn't want to wear it because all I could associate with it was my teenage self! I smelt it again in the store yesterday and it's grown on me again. It reminds me almost of fresh sheets on your bed and you've climbed into the sheets after a hot shower and put on some lotion and have a light breeze blowing through the windows. Nowadays I know more about perfumes and like to try more complex scents with different notes, but I do have a really special, soft spot for White Musk. I like it a lot but am just trying to shift the association of my teen self with this one so I want to wear it again! At least the smell makes me reminisce and brings back a lot of nice memories! <3

Lom

Yikes I hate this one. I find it to be really off putting, and smelly. I honestly think no one should wear that. Sorry!

chelseamurdock

I like this one for layering with other scents. If I find I want to add a touch more warmth or depth to a fragrance, I will use this baby. It’s a clean and straightforward basic musk so it mixes easily with other fragrances. No muss, no fuss. It’s also very affordable.

Unisexlover

As a teenager this is the coolest thing you can get on a budget. The deodorant is potent, too. Light musky, creamy, and powdery in a waxy-fresh kind of way. No suffocating vanilla. As a grown up, I find it horribly sweet, synthetic, and heavy.
Still a better choice as any generic musky floral women's fragrances around. In the budget sector, Korres fragrances would be an option, too.

diamondbottles

Tolerable at best. Not worth my money.

Preface: this review is about the perfume oil. I can’t really speak to the EDT.

There's something magickal about this scent. Like, literally reminds me of the scent of a magickal oil, if you get down like that. According to us crazies who do, musk is associated with the planet Saturn and always reminds me of my friend Kat who lived in a weird garage in Greenpoint and was into Kabbalah.

But I digress, this scent is all about powder but in a mysterious, glamourous way. Glamour, as in the ability to shapeshift, to change, to manifest an illusion. Ok I realize I'm talking about The Body Shop and I'm getting all Aleister Crowley on you, but literally that's what this scent does to me. Granted the clean, powdery, soapy notes of this might seem pretty vanilla to most, but it’s that Saturnian austerity that I think resonates so much. That cleanliness is godliness, simplicity for simplicity’s sake vibe is the basis for all glamour. You’re not going to seduce, to manifest, to illude on a dirty slate. Take a goddamn shower first. Put your moisturizer on before your makeup. Shave. Prime the canvas. As above, so below.

This is the Laura Palmer of perfumes. On the surface it’s basic, it’s clean, it’s pretty. Soapy showers, dusting powder, shaving cream, laundry detergent. Underneath, there’s a darker, mysterious, seductive core. The homecoming queen who is secretly a sex worker with a coke habit? White musk. Things are not always as they seem.

Peters155

To me this smells like hairspray but the hairspray back in the 80s and 90s so it gives it a nostalgic feeling. Reminds me of when i was a kid in the early 90s waiting outside the local hair salon for my mother to get her hair cut and blow dry and could smell the hair products all over the salon from the heat from the blow dyers. I can imagine white musk note being very popular in products back then. This is nice to layer with other fragrances that have similar notes the body products are good and cheap so u won’t break the bank

aemw

Smells like a male fragrance or something for older women. I'm in my 20's and it's definitely nothing for me :/

Bonnie00

on me, this smells like straight up shaving cream.

dglightblue

this is not the kind of musk i like. this one is so dry, its almost a litte dated.

initially: dry, linen like, smelled a little cheap, dried floral.i never really liked this one. i prefer other musky scents.

now two hours in: its not as linen floral dry... actually a better way to put it is its not as squeeky.
safe scent though.

fire2heart

White Musk is a simple, basic perfume. And for the record, there is nothing wrong with being a basic b*tch! I really mean that! ❤

I get a hint of dirt or a musty note when I wear this, especially with the body lotion, which I can't use because of the dirt smell. It's is strange because this is a clean scent. Chemistry is everything when it comes to a perfume, right?!

I enjoy layering this with the Atlas Mountain Rose edt, which has a little bit of musk in it. The rose, musk and dirt note make it more complex.

diamond sp

White Musk for me is the epitome of elegance and class. Smelling clean is sexy. When you wear this perfume it invites you like a hug. You get so many compliments and everybody wants to know what you are wearing and they always expect a secret niche perfume. No! It is Body Shop and it is the original White Musk. After trying many different perfumes over the years and trying to find the best perfumes among designer and niche perfume houses, I always come back to this. Sometimes, you just want to go back to your beloved best friend that is not playing hard to get. Sometimes, you need your White Musk that never disappoints you and stays with you until the night, reads you a bedtime story. It is my own once upon a time and my happy ending. You know that everything is going to be just fine ☺️

livelovelaugh0810

it smells so sour like all musk at initial spray.
then the dry down hits and it's like i'm wrapped in crisp white sheets straight out the laundry after using my favourite detergent. it's like soapy and soft and so nice. i love it. but not the inital spray

Petrichor31

I wore the perfume oil version of this a lot in the 80's. I loved it despite its very poor longevity.
Hoping for more longevity, I bought a purse size EDT of this a couple of years ago and discovered I could not tolerate it. It was overwhelming strong and reminded me of a laundry product.
I now prefer TBS' White Musk Smoky Rose or Jovan White Musk. I find both these soft and comforting for daytime wear.

muminharoon

All the hippie girls at my school used to wear this in the late 80s and early 90s. It always smelled so inoffensive and slightly floral with a little edge of vanilla and a lavender kick. I remember asking one of the girls what this fragrance was and they seemed quite amused a guy would like it so much.

I hadn't smelled it for years until I was looking for a white musk to layer with with some of the ouds or vanillas I own. Happy to say I found out it was still in production. Great in this role and I quite enjoy wearing it on its own in cold weather.

Elle Woods

Soo nostalgic to me,my sister has been wearing this for decades so it's a familiar scent to me. I sometimes layer this with Narciso Rodriguez FH, even with Pink Sugar, i always carry the oil version in my purse, this is the best musk i've ever tried, it smells soo sexy and soft at the same time.

JustSimpleThings

This fragrance is 'fine', but nothing special. I prefer Jovan's musk scents (Jovan Musk and Jovan White Musk) over this, those are much cheaper and they project better and have better longevity.

SissySuzanne

I was able to purchase a vintage bottle of this from the 90's on ebay for $8! I miss this scent, I had forgotten all about it.

Lady Liong

This is one if the most beautiful perfumes in the world
I feel like I'm a pretty Korean actrees who plays dramas in television, so soft and last long in me
I must have to repurchase when the bottle getting off
It's powdery and really sensual, I use it sometimes when I'm going to sleep in the night, wishing very beautiful dream

ildigocs

cheap toilet air freshener,just awful

meg0825

This scent is so nostalgic for me. It reminds me of my teenage years. This and Jovan Musk were very popular during the 80's. This is still great today and I love it! A soft, clean, and delicate floral musk. Perfect for every day. Perfect for any season. A classic musk!

Smells like clean. Like the smell of Grandmas house. Soapy, powdery and fresh. My 4 year old like to get ready in the morning just like Papa and I spray once on his shirt and he smells beautiful and clean like a new baby. Unfortunately it makes me sneeze.

alicemorrigan

Nice velvety, powdery, soft musk: great female perfume starter. A true classic.

However! The performance's so bad even as an EDP I could shed tears. Zero sillage and stays around 2 hours at most--on my skin, though. It stays an extra three hours as a mist on my sister's skin if you sniff hard enough. But great if you've never worn perfume before and want to try something highly inoffensive.

kessyster

I really don't like when someone labels a perfume for a certain age group. I'm in my early 40's and I've a variety of perfumes that
I love it ( from sweet gourmands to oriental scents).

What we need to remember is that a perfume doesn't behave the same way on everyone. All depending the personal body chemistry. As well the climate, the way you apply the perfume ( a lot of people doesn't apply perfume in the proper way) even the way you storage your perfume makes a difference.

On me I can detect a nice powdery, velvety scent which I love it! The first time I wore it people love it too!

No complaints from me, I'm happy with this one. Performance is average ( longevity and silage).

Palmer Eldritch

White Musk has changed over the course of 40 years since it first came out with it now smelling closer to cheap baby powder...
NONE of the notes peak through except for extremely CHEAP powdery musk from first spray! Where's the lily, iris, basil, rose, vetiver, peach & vanilla? None of the notes described are present.

After applying to my skin I asked friends/family to smell and NONE of them enjoyed the scent, not even my grandmother! I would recommend this scent to ONLY ages 60+ as it's a familiar scent suitable for very very mature people. (age-wise)

This is a synthetic and cheap version of Frederic Malle's 'Iris Poudre' perfume, which has extremely similar notes & concept (Musk with floral, vetiver, peach..etc). A perfume which I have tried & smells velvety, light, floral as described!

I'm extremely disappointed in this perfume. It's SO hyped up! Maybe it was amazing during its pre-Estee Lauder years, but it has changed for the worse. Maybe the eau de toilette range is better? I will try one day.

perfumelovere

I used to wear this in junior high and not only did it smell divine but it projected well and lasted forever. For the price it was such a winner. I'm a huge fan of anything with musk in the base notes.

JenSin

I first smelled the Body Shop’s White Musk oil in the late ‘80’s/early ‘90’s. It was love at first sniff. I wore it all through junior high and high school. I recently re-purchased the oil. It is the same high quality scent as it was decades ago. It is great by itself or layered with other fragrances. White musk is iconic and timeless.

angie_robyn

I have the fragrance mist. I love to spray this on after my shower in the evening, before i go to bed. This is how I love to use many of the body shop fragrance mists. This one smells clean, soapy, powdery and musky. It does make me think of an older, classy lady, but this doesn't bother me.

Mariase

It reminds me of the soaps my grandma would use but it doesn't last long.

grazzia

I finally gave this perfume another chance. When I tested it on my skin, I got very sharp, soapy and medicinal start and the dry down started to get softer and more sensual.

The other day I sprayed it on my clothes ... my, my... the beginning is not as sharp and it's much less soapy. I could smell iris and white flowers and oak moss and then it developed those deeper, creamier notes. Beautiful (!), powdery and soft.

Mctmes

This is for the fragrance mist. It smells just like I remember! I, like many others, first experienced it as a girl. In fact, I believe this was the first perfume I ever bought, and as a ten year old it made me feel so sophisticated. Now as a woman, it still feels sophisticated, albeit comforting and warm. It makes you think of being wrapped in a plush robe with fuzzy slippers on. It lasts a good amount of time for being just a body spray, I apply it to my hair and clothes. I just got the body spray because it had mixed reviews, but now I think I'd like to get the eau de parfum or the oil.

ericah12345

This is an interesting perfume. It smells more expensive than it is. If I would have to describe White Musk with one word that would be 'comforting'. It is calming by being incredibly comforting and warm in a fresh manner.

This scent is fairies dancing at a lake surrounded by morning mist. Magical and roriferous.

louiee

This scent will forever have my heart...an on going loveaffair for me.
I have worn this since I was a teenager.
The scent is soft, musky and somewhat unisex. Clean, delicate and comforting.
I always have this one in my collection.
An all time favorite at an affordable price.
Longevity and silage is moderate.

forbes_mq

This is for the EDT. This fragrance is very complex. Opens with a very fresh but not overpowering laundry-floral scent, middle notes are soft flowers, with a musky woody warm base. I feel like my skin is actually hot when I wear this, that’s how warm it is. The vanilla is very muted thankfully. A lot of folks find this a powdery scent, but in my (male) skin it doesn’t snell powdery. The oak moss, veviter, patchouli and musk give the finish of this a deep sensual smell.

I find this fragrance to be completely non gender specific. Some say this is “old lady” ish - and I can see that. When I think of these fragrances, I think of more intense white florals. The combination of flowers in this is gentle and smooth. I’m obsessed.

Iv'e been meaning to write a review for this Iconic little gem.
I'm sure many of you on this site will be familiar with TBS White Musk. This reminds me of being a teenager, because pretty much most teenage girls would wear this at School. Or some other perfume from TBS.
To me this is such a warm and comforting, beautiful, smooth musk. I have smelled and own quite a few Musk perfume oils, but this one is lovely, smooth and feminine.
In 1981 I would have been 10 when this came onto the market.
However, I remember teenagers wearing this the most at around 1984 onwards.
I remember a girl much older than me, that wore Doc Martins, and dressed quite arty, wearing this, and she would always leave this AMAZING trail wherever she went. I was inspired by that girl, and decided I would too start to wear this beautiful perfume.
Back then it was always sold in a plastic bottle. And they would have HUGE glass bottles behind the tils, to decant, depending on what size you wanted.
I remember this being sold for around £3.00 or so.
My times have changed! And yes I'm happy they are no longer using plastic any more.
So I decided to pop into my local Body Shop, which actually happens to be the MAIN FLAGSHIP STORE where it all began!!
And I was just browsing, and decided to have a sniff, Immediately I was transported to being a teenager all over again. I'm now 47, and yeah I rock Doc Martins.
I bought the oil perfume, and i'm so happy happy I did, because this also holds memories for me, of my Mum. She adored the smell of this on me. And she's passed now, so anything that sparks memories of her I try to capture.
Well I'm here in bed with a cold, and today, I wanted something soft, warm, inviting, and comforting. So I reached for White Musk. And now I know I will always own a bottle of this. SIMPLE YET BEAUTIFUL!

Saclolo

I bought the perfume oil in 2007.
My husband loves this on me--he says it smells so sexy.
It smells musky and powdery. It reminds me of Avon's Sweet Honesty with fewer flowers.

mychinarose

I'm getting such an education about fragrances. Back when I first got White Musk oil from the Body Shop (back in the late 90's...I still have my original bottle!), I had no idea that this had more than one or two notes. I just assumed this was not that complex of a scent based on the name. But now because of Fragantica I see the complexity and it totally makes sense! The iris in this makes it a powdery musk scent, the amber and vanilla give it warmth, the peach makes it just slightly fruity. And wow, all the flowers! This is a beautiful little gem. Because I used to wear it way back when it really transports me. This wasn't an immediate love at the time, but since I had a job at the Body Shop, it was something I learned to appreciate. This was my first ever musk, and it's taken me a loooong time to come around to others. But I'm really glad that I have!

AgnesK

Favourite perfume all the time
never boring wear white musk.
Very sensual and soft

sugar&spice

I remain baffled as to how this beautiful scent had escaped my olfactory radar for all these years. Soft and sensuous yet striking in character, this perfume will surround you in a calming cloud of addictive fragrance. I pick up on a strong note of iris, as sophisticated as in Chanel No 19 Poudrée, yet warmed and softened by a cottony musk that embraces the wearer, omitting an air of casual elegance; a touch of boho chic. I tested this one morning while shopping in Oxford with my husband: the EDP scent lasted all day (outliving various other more expensive scents I tested). At the end of the day my husband bought it for my birthday next month - I just can't wait to wear it!! :)

Mrs. ELE Arjona

Its strange, for something that has so many notes listed...well it smells like white musk to me! I noticed when I was about 19 I borrowed a musk perfume from a berthing mate in the Navy when I ran out of body spray and I was like catnip to a cat all night with every Gentleman I met. Men love the smell of white musk! I don't mind it, but its not necessarily something I always want to reach for. My bottle is pretty old, from the early 2000's. Still smells the same. I think this version is better than any drugstore white musk, but any will do if you want to attract the gents and but smell mild and inoffensive to the ladies.

Ms.Olive

not hard to like this, clean, simple, fresh, powdery musk, years after years and never get bored of it.
Bought 2 bottles of 100ml on last christmas sale, too good to miss LOL

nancy marwan

Only good for layering under other fragrances

roxy78

I have been wearing this perfume since 1991! Its simple and clean, musky and warm but can be worn anytime of the year. I always get compliments when I wear this and have since I was a teen. I guess on my skin it wears well (musk and vanilla ) which is why other than Light Blue, its the only perfume I keep buying after I empty a bottle. I wear the oil and perfume for cold winter months and switch to the toilette and body spray in warmer months. Ive used a tiny bit of the oil as a base for other amber / sandlewood type scents and it makes perfumes like JHG Not a Perfume and Pinrose Pillow Talk Poet extra special and long wearing.

LadyIva

I'm in the north-east of England for a week, and the local BS store offers a great discount on perfume oils. I always thought that The Body Shop White Musk didn't gel with my skin, at least in the EDT version, because I found it very alcoholic and gag-inducing. But as soon as I tried the perfume oil version, I bought it on the spot. This oil version skips that sharp ethanol that was giving me headache in the EDT version and goes straight to the actual scent, which is very beautiful, powdery and sensual. In comparison to White Musk by Tesori d'Oriente, this one is subtler, cleaner and less sweet. I like them both and will be wearing them a lot this spring.

rosiedear

Very inoffensive powdery musk scent, perfect for a subtle day when you’re in a nothing-special mood. I can imagine this being a good first fragrance for a young adolescent discovering fragrances. I know it is one of my very firsts.

I used to love this very much, but now I’ve grown a little tired of the singularity of this. Not to mention, it doesn’t last at all. You constantly re-spray. However, it is brilliant for layering! I love to wear this beneath other perfumes. Overall, inoffensive clean musk that’s perfect for when you want something but nothing dramatic and loud... like a chore day perfume.

Butterball

I've had a 30ml purple bottle of this perfume oil since 2013. I really loved it back then. Now at this point in time, it's just a like for me. I like the musk, but it smells too clean for my taste. There's a note in it that sticks out that I don't like. It sure lasts a long time on your skin though, and it's a great bargain.

neilikka

Utter horror on me. Need to scrub like crazy every time I try it. I have sort of forgotten a couple of times and given it second chances because it can smell very divine on other people. Sadly the warmness is nowhere to be found on me, only a screeching unpleasant sourness. Soap and water will not remove it, need to use makeup remover meant for waterproof makeup, still the smell will linger, but finally a tiny fraction of that warmness will show itself together with the horrible sour smell. But the pain to get there is certainly not wort it in any way.

jessora

I want to say "run screaming" but that's not much of a review. I love musk as a basenote. I need a musk oil to layer under my fragrances just to add a dimension to them and make them last. Sadly, the floral part of the musk jumped out like a jack-in-the box and was "Ta-da!" all over. I am not sure what that scent would be. In reading the above, it could be ylang-ylang, which I don't really 100% recall what that smells like--or the galbanum, but I think I have had that in other fragrances that I like! (To date, I have a few galbanum frags but NO ylang-ylang).

Also I recall a sad memory with White Musk. A good friend of mine from childhood lived with her parents, but her dad was a truckdriver. My friends mom was a neat freak and a smoker. Her entire house smelled like cleaner and Glade spray over a layer of smoke. I thought their home was a little weirded, but one day the dad came back and was verbally abusive, all over this sad scent trying to make everything seem all right. It was 1984, a big year for musks, so I need to step back and look for a less floral musk and keep to the basis.

jubuluxe

LOVE the scent a lot. is a shame is a body shop brand. But I brought so their EDP, ED T, body scrub .. the whole collection. I think I bought at least 5-6 bottles each ECP, ECT, mist. oil ... The perfume oil lasts very long... is not woody musky like their rose musk.... is soft, powdery, like you are in a white garden party with pearls.... I still in love with this scent over 7 years !!!! a Scent that I don't get board with.

blueshinyice

I instantly loved this perfume, its beautiful, sweet, soft, calming.

mrs.Bond

I like this one so so much, every time I step into body shop I am ready to buy a bottle and every time I don t do it.The reason is than my husbands first girlfriend wore this so I just cant wear it myself.Mon dieu!

Peetster

I guess it smells familiar to almost anyone. I love to spray after showering and before an evening at home. Clean smelling, very comforting. Very hard to really dislike.

judybikmeit

This scent makes me nostalgic. Precious memories flashes back to me whenever I smell this. I always go for the set made up with EDT, mist, shower gel and lotion during my late teen age up to early 20's. Its far from smelling like an "old lady". Musk is soft with just the right amount of freshness. It is very sensual. I love all of it.

greyhoundmom

Ahh White Musk, an old favorite of mine from high school :) this is a warm and fuzzy fragrance that makes me feel warm and fuzzy...this is my ultimate nostalgia scent that is still just as wearable now at 31 as it was when I was 16. I don't really get any particular notes out of this one besides musk and a soapy floral background to it but it's still somehow so unique, distinctive, and beautiful.

A lot of reviewers complain about longevity, but the EDP spray lasts me all day and into the next morning. Even after a shower I can still smell it. My skin gobbles most perfumes right up but I've noticed anything with musk lasts for a long time on me. So I would say if you find that musks play well with your chemistry, give this one a try.

embomb

I used to have the EDT version from years ago and had to throw it out recently since it had gone bad. Found myself in the body shop tonight after work and immediately thought of my old go to. Tested the perfume oil for a change and it had a gorgeous smokey vetiver opening that I don't remember the old EDT having and of course I bought it!
...................................two years later.......................................
This has become my go-to bedtime scent for when nothing else will do because it's so nostalgic, cozy, and always appropriate.

elizabeth_chell

I love it, but only the perfume oil, it works better with my skin, I have been wearing it on and off for 35 years

CherriedEmpress

So, my summer affair with coconut faded out, and the next scent category I have jumped on is musk.

The Body Shop's White Musk came to mind. I got the perfume oil and I really like it, although it is strong upon application.

I do not smell anything other than white musk, which is actually a relief, otherwise it may not be so versatile. And versatile, it is!

You can layer it under spray perfumes that contain a musk note -- and you'll create an amped-up, muskier fragrance. I just started experimenting in this way.

You can mix with lotion.

You can wear alone.

You can make a body spray (like a previous reviewer mentioned).

Unfortunately, the scent fades much faster than I expected. It's nowhere near as strong or long-lasting as, say, Al-Rehab oils. But it's nice while it lasts. I'm sure that back in the day, when people reported that the quality was better, it lasted longer.

RB2002

I'm going to have to stop by The Body Shop and see what they did to this. There was a point in time in the 90s when I put my other, heavier perfumes away, and just used some Body Shop scents (this, vanilla, dewberry), or Bath & Body Works lotions (vanilla bean, white gardenia). I remember smelling this one on a trip to England in 1990, and was happy when a Body Shop opened near me in the States in the early 90s, and I shopped there and wore this mainly between the years of 1996-98. This musk was a lot different than the 70s and 80s type musks that I was used to (though I still like those). This one is more of a clean, soapy, hint of floral type of a scent. It reminds me of being young and single, on my own for the first time, working and then getting videos from Hollywood video to watch with friends afterwards. Happy, carefree times in the 90s.

edit 9/21- so I have an original 90s bottle, and I got a chance to compare it to what’s in store now. It’s like they took the original, and added a hint of Kiehl’s musk to it. Similar to the original, but slightly different.

aulialovegreen

I had it back in high school around 2008. I remembered it smells fresh, clean and powdery. Yesterday i tried this perfume again in bodyshop outlet near me and i'm confuse, this smells nothing alike with the one i had. I feel like the iris is too strong in this one and gave me headache right away. Not that i don't like iris powdery vibe, but it's too powdery even my hubby think it smells like typical 90's perfumed body powder.

anita.rodriguez.villanueva.pacheco

I had the EDT and I loved it. Scent is very soft, fresh and clean.

hewpo

Damn beautiful scent. Surprisingly safe. Jasmine pushes through and if there was even a tiny bit more it would be too much for me, I think.

I've also tried the oil version but apparently am doing something wrong since it fades out and disappears from my skin in one hour.

Go on and try it on your skin to see if it's for you! :) I think it's also a good bottle for a gift.

Arlene-Beatrix

Very interesting, sexy floral & musky scent, cold but passionate. For the relatively low price, it's very sophisticated. Iris, oak moss and vetiver are surely there and it's a lovely mix. I truly like it, but it is just a bit too teasing for me.

Zeezeez

It is a familiar, sweet, girly, powdery scent. The top notes are too strong but the middle notes are lovely.

candymarie

Back in the day when I used to wear one perfume at a time, everyday for years on end, I went looking for something inexpensive to give me a periodic break from said perfume (Chanel 19 at the time), and I found White Musk. It was a perfect palate cleanser to No. 19 - soft, cool, cloud-like, and very unisex. I always remember, shortly after purchasing it, a man and his young adult son stopped me on the street to ask me what fragrance I was wearing. I knew I had found a good one. There's a reason White Musk is still going strong, while so many Body Shop fragrances have come and gone.

rebeccabeatrice

Smells old lady-ish.

Review for the Perfume Oil

It's a clean, flowery musk. It lasts very long, and on me it stays close to the skin, it never gets overpowering: it's a skin scent, quite sexy in my opinion, but innocent and clean at the same time, if that makes sense. It can be worn in the summer too, because it's not heavy at all. It reminds me of kittens, in a a good way, it's so fluffy and velvety.

At the beginning it smells very flowery, especially with jasmine and rose. The it gets rounder, creamier and muskier. Finally, in the drydown I also smell some amber, peach and maybe basil. It's really lovely and wearable, even in the summer.

justfloral

Small-leaved linden (Tilia cordata), persian violet (Exacum affine). Beautiful!
Color: electric indigo.

NaturalIsBest

My all time favourite. Buy the oil...mix it into aqueous creme for a body moisturizer...mix a few more drops into some alcohol then water for a body mist...onto some wooden skewers and into a pretty vase for an air freshener...Its so versatile and such good value. I have worn this since a was 15....a very long long time. Its beautiful and a great everyday perfume.

theuntrainednose

The oil really blooms beautifully in the warm weather or over a warm body :)

I bought the oil in a very very warm summer day last year and forgot about it till winter. Winter came and I tried it and was disappointed. Nice but boring clean-ish musk, I guess. Then summer came and I fell in love again.

In the heat, this is musky but not airy, floral but somewhat dark and bitter, almost woody but not quite. It's not a white floral at all. It's sexy but not in-your-face, warm, different from all other musky florals I currently own and very human. In the heat, I can smell many more notes and nuances that I cannot smell in cool weather and it becomes a very comforting and uplifting fragrance. Linear but rich and well-composed.

Makes me feel more me, more "in my body", warmer in a good way.

I am really enjoying it it in the summer.

Long lasting (12h or more), moderate projection (a bit more than arm's length).
--

The EdT, from what I had tested at the store, was much more boring than the oil.

Miss_J

You know I'm very, very late to the party. Back in the 90s, this perfume was an essential to the 'Snobby posh girls' gangs from my Junior High school. I loathe them back then..and so does this perfume. I was more of the 'Cool Artsy Tomboys' gang and we wore CK one/Versace's red jeans. Feminine & delicate perfumes were not our image. I went to the Junior high school reunion last week, and laughing about our stupidity back then. And White Musk was one of the center story. I can't believe that I used to loathe this perfume because of these arrogant posh girls..Hahaha. They're all much nicer now & looking haggard due to marriage & babies..LOL. So now that we're all mature, I can truly appreciate the classic & timeless quality of White Musk. It's powdery, comforting & stays close to the skin, and I bought 1 full bottle complete with the lotion & shower gel just for the sake of nostalgia.

MaryushaMTL

I am reviewing the oil. As many have pointed out, this is a major flashback to the 90s for me. I buy one every decade or so, it is a type of scent that is so "dear" to me. It is a very warm, smokey musk with a hint of bitterness. Btw I don't remember this bitterness when I used it in the 90s. Reformulated maybe? This perfume will not turn heads or draw attention. It is a safe, clean, girl next door type of scent....A cup of coffee while reading a book at a cozy coffee shop on a cold winter morning....A stroll through a park, smelling the fresh cool air while stepping on fallen leaves.....Watching your favorite TV show at home on your sofa, covered with a warm fleece blanket....Yes, for me this is more of a cold weather scent. But it also has that "clean" feeling about it, so I sometimes use it when I work out at the gym. This scent will not impress anyone, it is a very personal "just for me" type of scent.

chuwey

its a safe option.. i wore this whenever i dont know which perfume to wear and have no time to think it over... a quick choice.

I too wore this in the 80's and 90's as an homage to my youth. I am back to it after more than 20 years away from it and while it is still a beautiful comfort scent, it's not quite as I remember...at least not at first. This is one that it doesn't hurt to invest in multiple forms of. I bought the oil but will likely pick up a small EDT too as it has a bit brighter feel to it.

The oil begins a bit more men's shave cream-y than it used to. I almost didn't recognize the scent until it settled in. After about 45 minutes the original white musk scent revealed itself and as per it's predecessor- it just doesn't quit. It stays comfortably close yet noticeable for many hours. It is pretty linear which doesn't bother me in the slightest. I bought it because it is what it is. There is a clean-ness about it, a coziness. not sterile though. Perfect as it's own fragrance or in combination with other fragrances to add dimension. I'm glad to have rediscovered it.

tessture

A simple, clean white musk, not too soapy, not too sweet, not too skanky. Very nice.

shadycat

As soon as I received my new bottle of TBS White Musk oil in the mail and opened it I went "Ahhhhhhhh....."
Like many others, this fragrance took me back in time, but not to the '80s, but to the '90s, when I was about 18 and the world (and myself) seemed much more innocent.
It took me back to a time when here in America -
The Clinton's were in office
Kurt Cobain was still alive
MTV still played music
People still talked on the phone to each other
You could wear flannels with every outfit
Dark red matte lipstick was cool
The X-Files and Twin Peaks were my favorite shows
I had all kinds of friends of all different ethnicities/religions and nobody cared and the world wasn't as crazy as it is now...
And I felt like I had the whole world ahead of me...
Sure, this oil has changed like everything else in the world, but it is a perennial classic for a reason - no matter what era you are from, this scent is just so clean, velvety (like the advertisement says), and comforting. This is one I will always love because of its lovely scent and the way it can take me back to such an important time in my life.

bronstein

A bit of "heaviness" that is common for 1980s perfumes can be spotted here, too. Together with the flowery notes this makes an unusual composition, at least with respect to contemporary standards. Frankly, I don't think it works well.

de173eld

My go-to casual scent because it's so simple.
Also my go-to layering perfume. This veil of airy and dry musk softens my sharp woody perfumes, and tames my juicy perfumes. They all smell great on their own but White Musk gives it a fluffy fresh boost.
I call this my petticoat perfume.

Syncs well with citruses too.

It's versatile. I use it all year round, by itself or layered.
For the price, it does a lot of work.

iamoir

Smells like detergent to me, in a good way. Clean laundry. I like the scent enough to buy it and I'm pumped already to play with possible layerings. Something vaguely floral and huge doses of extra-clean musk. What impresses me more is the longevity, it lasts more than 6 hours on my skin, which is a fair time for an EDP. The sillage is not the best after three hours, but I'm okay with that. Linear. Some might find it boring.

sophiesnose

Unfortunately, there is something about this classic staple that just doesn't work for me. There is some note that I can't identify that makes me feel sick to my stomach. I really have given it a good go, trying white musk in different temperatures and at different times of the month. If I have to work this hard at making it work, it's probably best if we just break up. I really wanted to identify the note that was bothersome but was unable. Fortunately, the white musk by Jovan works for me. I passed this on to a girlfriend who was happy to have it. You can't win them all.

Fieke

This is my basic fragrant!
My husband loves it, always compliments me when Im wearing it!
I will always have this in my drawer!
Its soft and powdery, maybe a bit like baby powder, which I adore!!
Love it!!

Scatje

The opening smells like make up due to the iris and oakmoss after an hour it smells more like it used to smell (the old and first version of the white musk from the body shop) : clean and bright

jozie.dzuanshik.1

Nothing is more memory awakeing than fragrances, scents and smells. There are two perfumes there are the strongest pre-teen-teen nostalgia for me and one is Cool Water by Davidoff and the other is this one. Tbh I don't really like it that much but the memories are washing over me in a very pleasant way so I recently bought me a bottle just because I'm a very nostalgic person and this year I'm turning thirty so I'm veeeery melancholic and nostalgic this year. For me this scent is so much youth and adolescence so when I wear it it's like I'm time traveling :)

Fluffy Hair

I'll never tire of this soft, pretty fragrance. It's been a constant in my fragrance collection for over 20 years. Powdery, romantic, and pure. Perfect with jeans and a t-shirt or a flowy dress. It's really just lovely.

enticesensesbodyspirit

This always makes me feel sexy and feminine. The oil is better then the spray and lasts longer.

Jomoves

To me this will always be about pearls. Princess Diana, oversized Laura Ashley dresses and white tights worn with flat shoes. Although it screams 80s I think it has managed to transcend its time and place and remains a really lovely, light, almost virginal musk.

With so many musks now smelling like a week old laundry hamper this baby stands out for all the right reasons.

Sabretoothkitten

I only wore this once or twice, in general soapy musks and I do not jive well. I have ththe oil version if anybody wants it.

mariamarouli91

An amazing simple, clean, fresh soapy/musky scent. It smells something between an expensive soap and laundry detergent. I see many notes but I smell mostly musk. Good for all year round, all occassions and seasons. Pure classic. Perfect if you don't know what perfume to wear, for gym, for work, whatever! It's also perfect as base for layering with other perfumes. Inoffensive, clean, fresh, simple and even unisex! Because sometimes you just want to smell simple and clean :)

Winter Sweet

Don't know where the long list of notes come from.
It's just about Musk+Lily+ perhaps a tiny bit of Iris.
A pleasant musky smell but nothing special about it.
Do I buy it? I suppose not.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the white musk body butter, and creamed myself up after a shower. That whole day was amazing, I was back in mid 90s in preschool, I mean dang this fragrance has so many GOOD memories combined to it, Im just lost in words.
Everything about it is poetic, I dont know wth it is....
the body butter last for a long time on my skin, and Im getting the EDT next time around. I will never never ever get tired of this one...
The sales girls at the body shop, talked about this being popular among elder ladies, and I laughed reminded these girls are generation gourmand, they will never experience the amazing memories attached to white musk....
so I told them hey girls, this was the scent of teenagers for my generation ( im 34).... and they gasped...hahahaha :) so funny
anyway Im truly high on good feeling when it comes to white musk, if I could marry it I would....

This is Amsterdam to me. Used to wear this while I lived there. Id also recommend the body lotion. During my last visit I bought a big bottle and I use that rarely just to trigger memories. What a lovely scent!

White musk is always a yes for me

I received White Musk as a gift when I was a teenager. I loved the smell of it and have returned to it after a 20-year hiatus. I like to wear it in cold weather because it smells so warm and cozy. It is such a harmonious blend that I can't pick out the individual notes. Like any great fragrance, it is more than the sum of its parts.

This is a really amazing return on investment. You get strong sillage and long lasting. It's not overly sweet, but it reminds me of crushed flowers at night after they've been condensed during a really hot day in summer. Basically, if you grew up in the midwest where it's insanely hot and humid in summer, that sweet evening smell with a little bit of power. That sounds old, but it's not an older smell. More like a softer rounder smell, there are no sharp notes.

Thunderstorms

My signature, my holy grail fragrance. Still gutted the oil got reformulated. If anyone has any black cap bottles lying around please pm me!!

Of all the three musks, excluding the flankers, I loved the first sniff of this one but the base notes smelled like an old man for me. :( Too bad, I really liked the top notes.
