Had this since it came out. I have an original bottle and a new gold one. I still love it. Somehow a fresh oud. It's a little spicy and invokes a marine feeling. So that's pretty cool. Anyway! Just wanted to drop in on this again.

Hanging out on the dock with your friends at the condo that you all are staying at for vacation during a hot and humid summers night. The tunes and vibes are peak as you all just joke, have a few drinks, and talk. The lapping of the waves against the dock knock up the smell of the sea into the air as the smell mixes in the breeze with the fir trees all around the condo complex. Life is good.

I have been looking for a scent that truly and unapologetically smelled like the ocean during a hot summers night, and I think I found it. This isn't like any other basic aquatic, it's the smell of sea mist bottled, and I'm addicted. If you're like me, and are a little bored of every "blue" style of fragrance smelling the exact same: try this out. I will be wearing this during the night during the upcoming summer, but occasionally I will spray this on me during the colder months to remind of the warm ocean. And while this may seem very non mass appealing up close, in the air it turns you into the dreamy beach guy that every beach tv show/movie has. Favorite blue style fragrance to date.

Fantastic performance with moderate projection.

Song Vibe - One Particular Harbor by Jimmy Buffet

This is by far the most polarizing scent I own which may be a reason that I like it so much.

Right off the bat I'd describe the notes of the initial application as: Seaweed, Damp Driftwood, and Gasoline (as well as something sweet that I can't quite place).

Don't worry though; after 20 minutes it dries down to a more mineral but still aggressively aquatic scent with a bit of an Ambergris note and good minerality. Basically you smell like you've spent all day in and on rough seas and ocean spray.

By about 6h later is wear it really shines IMHO. The woody notes start to come through albeit subtly, it wears a fair bit closer, and has a very pleasant "smells good like a summer evening near a beach" vibe.

i had a nice conversation with the lady working at bijenkorf's perfume aisle about diptyque perfumes and how ur favorites match (tam dao, orpheon, fleur de peau). she gives me this as a sample thinking id like it. im literally throwing up. it smells like actual seaweed but a rotten seaweed. i dont like it at all and i cant see why anyone would. it has a bit of a minty vibe as well.

luckily she gave me an eau moheli sample as well

CHESTDAYBABY

I cannot stand it.

very creative but not for me.

@HamdiNoSimp to put the new signature line juice inside it and sell it? 😆😆

HamdiNoSimp

If anyone has an empty bottle can be 50ml or 100ml please message me I would like to buy it.

😊i smell like oysters and i like it .Really nice marine fragance .

POTFORTY2

One of my favorites of all time. Super masculine doesn’t really smell like a cologne gives fresh grey vibes and has an addictive rubbery component. Underplayed masculinity. Super unique but also can’t imagine not appreciating this. Some may find it difficult to wear but I like this one so much I’ll wear it anytime anywhere. Whenever there’s an overcast I put on Oud Minerale.

FreshLiving

Great scent and top of its class in the aquatic avenue.
Projection, sillage, longevity are all beast mode.
Very woody, sea-weedy ocean like; smooth, a bit dark and wet.

Difficult to place which season this works best in. Definitely dressier at night. Maybe a spring evening. And maybe a summer night, although it could be a bit too suffocating during the warmer months.
I wore it today and it’s December and it works, but it’s too salty and aquatic for a solid fit here.

Tincel

@gretta That is a beautiful "letter". I also find smelling a man's perfume on me so sexy, especially if mixed with his own skin's scent... Well now I will have to give this a sniff and perhaps buy it for my man ;)

gretta

My first experience with Oud Minérale was on a beautiful, gifted Turkish towel a friend mailed me from Seychelles. He had sprayed the towel generously and upon receipt weeks later, I fell deeply in love with this beautiful fragrance. I now have 2 of the frosted bottles, & I wear this in the summer mostly. I am a woman. Yes this is probably masculine, but I love this on my skin. It is sexy on me, in a skinny-dipping in the ocean all day, hot/wet/salty/sandy skin, bonfire at sunset, kind of way.

OlgaAnosova137

I only have a decant as this fragrance has been discontinued for some time but it's a perfect "wet", fresh fragrance. It smells like it's just rained on the beach: there are rainy dark grey clouds above your head and you can smell wet stones and sand, salty sea wind is kind and the ocean waves are calm.

This gem is coming back soon into the Signature Line with a brown cylindrical bottle…hope it will smell mostly the same.

This is my first marine oud. It's truly gorgeous. I agree that it is quite easy to distinguish the sea notes, sea salt and the oud itself is quite strong. The oud opens up beautifully and is not too overpowering. It is not dirty, nor animalic, nor medicinal. I however decided to sell my partial. It is a beautiful synthetic oud, but nevertheless I currently have a lot of oud in my collection. I give my preference to Diptyque's Oud Palao (dirty animalic oud) and the oud by Sarah Baker called Loudo (gourmand oud with chocolate). In addition, I decided I will be hunting Sarah Baker's Gold Spot and Nasomatto's Black Afgano (my wish-list for ouds currently). I like this TF's oud, don't get me wrong, but I simply prefer other, more sophisticated and more unique ouds. Even Oud Monarch by Bortnikoff which I sold, is a more sophisticated oud to me, because it features unusual florals (such as frangipane) and is overall a very unique well-blended, hard to replicate, composition.

Salohcin2148

I have 40-45ml of a 50ml left if someone is interested. I will trade for something interesting or sell. PM me if interested.

EDIT: SOLD.

Maybe my favorite fragrance of all time. I searched forever for a new bottle and managed to find one after almost a year of looking as I don’t really trust eBay. This captures the realistic mist of waves crashing against a break wall on a cold winter day. Refreshing in the strangest sense possible. Classy and sophisticated yet artistic and unique. You will not smell like anyone else in the room with this. It captures positive attention but not like a traditional cologne. Most compliments have been more along the lines of something smells really good but they have no idea it’s a cologne

Katabetha

Oud Minerale is a very simplistic perfume, salty aquatic mineral notes and synthetic oud. Very unique combination and I would like to have maybe a 30ml to spray once in a while in the summer just to break away from the other typical summer scents. The price though is crazy for what its ingredients are, which is apparently the motto for Tom Ford nowdays. I would look for a clone tbh

mattcross

While it’s sad it’s discontinued I rarely find myself wearing it. But it’s a really really impressive thing to replicate such a realistic salty breeze smell. This genuinely smells like rocks being hit by the sea. It’s pretty hard to wear, I love it when I wear it and so do other people but it can really choke you out if you’re not careful. Very very interesting though, I feel like this will have a cult following and a bit of a resurgence in the coming years

Frafrea3848

This is discontinued?!?! Saw a bottle of this at a mall like 2 months ago...

tdsmelbourne

Briny, aquatic and fresh- this has to be one of my favourite scents of all time. Was disappointed to see it had been discontinued- hopefully this makes a return in the future. Definitely a slept on TF fragrance.

Sometimes I think Tom Ford just sticks oud (an accord at that) in things just to justify the high price of their Private Blend line, don't get me wrong this smells nice, but so does the Bvlgari Aqva and Acqua Di Gio line for a mineral aquatic scent and they're also a fraction of what this costs.

wert456

PM me if anyone is looking for a brand new sealed OG private blend version 3.4 fl oz 100 ml version. I have one for sale now.

Verlith

Underrated, smells like the sea, beautiful, natural and fresh. Not mass appealing but unique. Fun to wear, no doubt. Not for the untrained nose.

vtboyarc

Ugh. I want to try this so bad. I love aquatics, and I love Tom Ford Oud Wood. This seems like a match made in heaven for me. Of course I discover it after they stop selling it. Hopefully someday it comes back…

sgd11

Since salty marine fragrances are my favorite genre of perfumery, Oud Minerale is a banger for me. It’s salty, unique, woody and oceanic. Doesn’t smell like anything else on the market. Think of a dark stormy sea and that’s what this smells like. I went through half of my 50ml bottle (that’s a LOT for me) but eventually grew tired of it. It’s still an incredible scent though.

SUCH a shame this was discontinued. I unfortunately got rid of my bottle right before it did, and am regretting it imensley.

phosgene

For those wondering: the original Oud Minérale was basically nuked off store shelves due to the inclusion of a carcinogen (dioctyl phthalate) which is banned in a multiple countries. That was the clear bottle featured on this page.

After that OM was re-released as a part of the Resort line as an EdP in EU and EdT in the US. Those are the frosted bottles. It was not a reformulation per se, the scent is rather different from the original. But even after that, the new release wasn't super widely available and I just lost track what's going on with this fragrance tbh.

a_affan

Imagine it is a pleasant sunny day, sand under your feet, the breeze blowing, and you step into the waves. Oud minerale' is an apt representation of the Sea, it smells like fresh seawater, and it reminds me of Dubai beaches, and I love that. Great scent for summer. this aquatic offering by tom ford is not sweet like those bvlgaris. this is unique and smells better in air. 7.5/10

RMPingo

I purchased a sample of Oud Minerale because I was intrigued by the notes listed and by the reviews I've seen online. I've become quite the fan of TF frags over the last few months, and I had to try one that sounded so unique. OM is a smooth, delicious fragrance, but it seems to carry none of the scents I expected. It's almost the TF version of Cool Water or Creed, which is enjoyable for me since I actually love both of those frags. But there's no salt here, nothing that reminds me of the beach or the sea or whatever. But it is fantastic in its own way. I would order a full bottle if I had the dough and it hadn't been discontinued--although I think I would like it as as a candle a bit more.

throw2542

This reminded me of Narciso Rodriguez for Him; I had a little bit of that decant left and did a blind side by side test. They were very close...so I'm surprised that there's no ozonic/ violet leaf notes on OM as it's the main note on NRfH - unless that's what the oud is supposed to be here. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I really love NRfH but it's discontinued and can't find it anywhere cept ebay where it's overly marked up. Not getting any seaweed notes but do get some saltiness and marine/ blue vibe. The seaweed/ salty/ wood mix I was hoping for is like ADG Absolu Instinct; absolutely love that opening. The thing with OM is it's not harsh like some of the other blues but very smooth. If you want in your face blue that's Megamere.

Longevity is poor; after 2 hours tops it's just a skin scent. It's way way WAY overpriced but you're paying for the TF name. If OM had the opening of ACG Absolut Instinct with the performance as Megamere; I'd wear it daily and would be willing to pay handsomely for it.

Since the scent is linear I think I will try a dupe and just reapply often. OM appears it will be discontinued soon anyway.

Fragfragbagbag

Bought an old (frosted) bottle of this for a future vacation based on the notes/reviews and I am thoroughly impressed. It smells like you think it should and the previous reviews nail it. Like the beach/woods just after initial rainfall. Wet wood, light spice, aquatic, ozonic and salty. I cannot stop smelling myself!

I understand why TF releases like this get discontinued, they are the ugly cousins. HOWEVER, They are also, for me, the absolute best. Basically, this was never meant to be a universally loved fragrance. What this is, is a statement and an exceptional one at that.

In summation: I love this. Not a mainstream scent, although, I do believe it is approachable. So not a blind buy, if you can find it. I see this as a year round fragrance but likely more favorable for warmer temps. Will likely be my go to special, summer fragrance. If you want a summer scent that smells fantastic and unique, go right ahead.

Sparklemama567

Any news on if this is truly discontinued?

dayonee

I don't know what to make of this, so called marine scent.

A lot of reviews associate this with being on a rocky seaside under a rainy overcast sky, dark, seaweed, salty, northern Atlantic Ocean, Oregon coast, etc.

It is somewhat dark, definitely not a bright summer beach scent, that's for sure. I don't get a lot of seaweed. Bit salty in the drydown maybe. Can't really relate this to ANY type of oceanic scent; bright, dark, sandy, rocky, whatever. Definitely woody.

Initially, I get this strong whiff of something I can only describe it as gasoline. 30 minutes in, it calms down and reminds me, ever-so-slightly, of a lighter, smoother version of ombre leather. 2 hours in, gasoline smell is completely gone and becomes something I really can't put my finger on. Can it be minerals/rocks, hence the name? Is this what ocean really smells like? I don't know.

Very interesting scent. I love marine/oceanic/aquatic scents but this one may be an acquired taste. Perhaps I was too carried away with the reviews, which I totally appreciate and love. I knew it wasn't going to be a summer beach banger scent but perhaps I thought it would be just a little bit more fresher than what it is. I blind bought this based on my love for marine scents because the tester at my local Ulta was empty. Good thing they have a good return policy.

EDIT:
That dark, salty, standing on an oceanside cliff on a cloudy/rainy day vibe that everyone talks about? Oh yeah it's there. Big time. After returning it, continuously smelled it on my shirt for a week. Very photorealistic and almost beautiful. Don't regret returning it since I can't see myself wearing a whole lot but good to have it in your collection, if you must.

Jukatr

Is this discontinued or not? Anybody knows about it?

Rumin@3151979

Oud Mineral perfume contains two contradictory aromatic waves, the first wave smells of oud wood , and is represented by the smell of oud, and pink pepper, while the other wave is a wave of refreshing sea water and consists of the smell of sea, salt and seaweed.
The perfume is vague and different, it's very good option for spring and summer, I didn't feel nauseated and no headache because oud is not prominent. I have royal oud- creed I think there is same DNA.

vivalajuju

The first time I tried it in store, INSTANTLY I had an image in my head: you're giving a ride to a hot priest (yes I know I've got some zaddy issues☺️) in your brand new Cadillac with a beige leather interior... For two days I kept driving back and forth, obsessing over whether I should cop it or not (not even knowing it was possibly being discontinued). I felt like the scent was so odd, and so masculine, how dare I fall for this?!

Well, I bought a 30ml bottle, which will hopefully last me forever. OM is so beast, I hardly need one third of a spray on one wrist to last me all day. The imagery hasn't changed much, although I eventually pinpointed precisely what core memory this fragrance evoques to me. Turns out, it is exactly how I remember the interior of the parsonage (presbytère in french) in Sainte-Ursule QC where I did all my catholic sacrament preparation courses in the 90s. This perfume smells like sanctity, like noble sentiments, like one's precious and secret covenants with G-d (whichever you prefer). It has the appeal of something greater than mere life on earth. Truly a masterpiece, but definitely not for the amateur nose. What a mysterious creation, that keeps you on your toes!

This is not for the people pleasers! The man who wears this, if he's not a perfumisto, chose this edp because of its unique aura. He prides himself in being different. I think this could be a very nice gift for a clean metalhead, the one who's a dentist or a chiropractor maybe, who sometimes headbangs on the weekends, not the kind who rents a basement, orders in every night and plays WOW while blasting Children of Bodom when he's off from his shift at the videogame store.

Because this is a classy, loud but demure, respectable, curated olfactory 'look'!

HUDSON HILL

All the summer tourists have gone. The once-filled beaches, shops, and streets become quiet. The weatherman says a storm approaches from due west. Sea birds tumble and glide above, as a flock of geese floats toward southern skies. Wood-burning stoves are puffing across the coast leaving a faint comforting smoke. The sky is grey with a turbulent ocean that carries whitecaps to the horizon. This beach is completely covered in stones worn smooth from countless cycles of the tide. The clear dark water is low waiting for the ocean to reclaim this space in a few short hours. Rising from the crashing waves a solitary monolith of light slices through the mist. A phantom foghorn calls out as the sirens once did. The breeze picks up, weaving through the tall damp pine trees. About 100ft from the shore an Osprey dives into the water. In place of the fish hawk a beautiful woman surfaces. She is moving her mouth but I can't understand. Her pale white hand waves me toward the surf, and I obey.

Taylormade Nose

Wore this on my vacation to Jamaica during the night and got a lot of compliments. Classy and sophisticated smell. By the end of the night, all the guys were saying the next fragrance they buy is a Tom Ford lol. I enjoy how unique and long lasting it is. Projects well also.
Very Woody, with sea side vibes.
Smelling it now, reminds me of a night out, dressed up in linen on the resort with a drink in hand. Pure class.

KID KOUROS

The flying Dutchman.

Have you ever wondered how the Davy Jones and his ship smell? the answer is like Oud Minerale; this juice belong to sea like davy in a cursed way in a opposite way to a oriental oud smell who can be associated with a "standard" pirate.
Fantasy comparison apart its hard to imagine this perfume without try it, it can have multiple intepretation anyway for sure its not an easy wear and definitely not a safe blind buy (also because its out of production).

First one i can say this smell like a big trunk (oudy) coming back to seashore after a storm, the beach its not sandy but a little stone and shells beach (in fact a Mineral thing); because this have a Acquatic base full of salt with a aromatic woud thing inside, overall dont have a big evolution.

Artistic scent that evokes a vivid picture of violent waves breaking against a rocky shore on a grey overcast day, like Auchmithie Beach, Scotland, pictured in Under the Skin. The scent is salty, funky and oceanic, and I've yet to find another fragrance that smells as much like the ocean as Oud Minerale, going much further than blue scents that only evoke a marine 'feeling'. The only element of the scent that detracts from this picture is a mild plastic/vinyl scent in the opener.

Oud Minerale is the first full bottle of Tom Ford that I purchased so it does have a special place. However, as artistic and unique as it is, I rarely reach for it. I can't picture a situation to wear this out, nor do I wear it indoors. Its neither sweet nor comforting. The environment it paints is harsh and unforgiving. Yet, there are so few scents that paint a complete living picture, so I'll appreciate it for what it is.

Mangaetteok

"Northern Hemisphere shore" fragrances are some of my favourites personally & this is now the replacement for TF Oud Minerale, bc these are definitely meant to be, Northern Hemisphere "shore" perfumes - neither are particularly, about oud - despite the Title of TF OM - tbh I think they use that in the Title at TF to try to market some of their perfumes at the price of some of their others, but.. hm.. This however has hit the Discounters - & is of excellent quality. "Happybone" - has pretty much said about TF Oud Minerale - what I & my Fiance would say about Wet Stone, Amouroud - & to me Wet Stone is the more than equal replacement for the original TF OM - (obvs you've tried the reformulated version at TF, oh dear!) - & to myself & my fiance; this - is far better than the much vaunted TF offering (which in First Edition was quite good, I will say, however, Not. Now. ) TF OM is now a watered down, lesser quality shadow of itself; they can keep it - ofc, the oud in wet stone is more subtle💫 - & to me much more in keeping💫with the perfume, although it is definitely there - neither💫of them are particularly about oud💫per se, & weren't meant to be despite the Title of the former - but both are as said - more of a Northern Hemisphere shore aura - however, the oud is not missing in WS, not at all - just more subtle💫& far more💫skillfully blended💫(I will say though - if you cannot smell oud in the WS - then💫your nose was sadly damaged🙈🙈 - by all the less subtle oud heavy perfumes that have hit you in the nose like brick repeatedly, (& maybe be subsequently numb) but am not fond of that "style" of perfumes, at all - the oud in WS is pretty good; & is thankfully slightly more subtle than TF; bc I thought it was a little too much in the First Edition version; but does still smell of high quality in WS (although bottles of the Amouroud are avaliable at just under £92 - at TK Maxx UK website, hurrah(!) - & are far more "worth it" than the Reformulated TF - probably more so that ANY current/reformulated⚠️ TF tbh, from what I hv smelled at their counter recently.⚠️) Plus - the gentle sage💫& other shore like accords in this are rather lovely💫on a man too - my fiance wore this, the other day & I thought it smelled particularly polished💫 & somewhat stylish on him - but then he usually is, full stop & has rather excellent taste in perfumes & clothing - this had lingered💫on his shirt, & must have "rubbed off" onto the sleeve of his suit jacket; so I could smell it when I opened one of the wardrobes yesterday, & paused to admire it fully💫 A winner, I think.. (although the less ppl that wear it the better for him/me(!) ofc - stick with the formerly half decent brand if you must, more for us, & exclusivity is never a bad thing.) My fiance used to wear the original TF Oud Minerale occasionally💫) but frankly, I tested the reformulated version💫 a cpl of weeks ago; & it's a huge no from both of us, & x 100ml of Amouroud's WS will be taking it's place, courtesy of the famous discounter (he bought one - but I went back again, hoping for bargain cashmere sweaters - & hv quietly/sneakily put another in his Christmas stocking - which he will recieve when we open our presents (in Christmas Eve as per our Fine Tradition) since he's been v good this year. Fresh, beautiful, & present, this is - & lasts well; although it has a💫wonderful subtlety💫& depth, about it, which tends to be lacking in the TF offering - no matter how much they dilute it, the blending💫& notes here are excellent💫

(Note - Nothing about WS is "Designer-esque" or "Not Niche"💫 - & anybody clinging to the TF name in all it's diluted, mass marketed - & espc marketed towards East Asia, not that watering everything down is any good to East Asian ppl either, nobody likes poor quality mediocrity) - & thinking this or another such House cannot equal or better💫any of it, should give this a week's test - certainly a few others are playing the game far better than the jokers who own TF these days.

Sidney09

Not what I was expecting, but not bad.

I get some Profumo vibes from it, but they’re not identical, or really similar, but in the family tree. Earthy, salty, Rocky, marine-ish, little bit of woodsyness.

dwt

This one is interesting, but in a good way.
There is an earthiness to it, but a soft earthiness, not a dirty earthiness.
To me, the middle notes have a wet, green, aromatic quality. There's definitely something watery about the scent.
There is also something familiar about this fragrance. It has some similarities to that typical, generic frat boy cologne... I'm not sure of the name, but it brings that to mind while also being better and more complex that that. That's probably not very helpful. Sorry, haha.
The dry down is lasts nicely, and the green quality I mentioned is replaced by marine notes. Or maybe I just imagined the greenness.
Overall, it's a smooth, relaxing, meditative fragrance. Very good.

Nate_915

This is a unique aquatic scent. The opening is very “mineral-y” and potent. The marine notes begin to enter the picture soon after. This projects well off my skin and the longevity is incredible. I don’t directly spray clothes, but it’s hard to avoid getting some on your dress shirt collar when spraying your neck. I’ve smelled this stuff on my shirt collars after multiple wash cycles.

I probably won’t buy a bottle after I finish my decant because ADG Profumo already fills that darker aquatic spot in my collection and it’s easier to wear. I appreciate the artistry behind this fragrance, but it gets way too salty on me after a few hours. All in all, I think this is really good and unique, but not something I’m going to reach for often.

TheTomFordEnthusiast

Oud Minerale will be rereleased coming up soon. Would be nice if not reformulated, but we know it will be.

JmThms

I'm a few hours into my initial test wear of this and I'm not getting the reviews. I love Sel Marin by James Heeley, a comparison frag for Oud Minerale, and was hoping this would be comparable to it. It's not. I get a smokey accord for some reason. I searched the comments below for any other reference to smokiness and found " "smokey wet log". I don't know about wet log but the pungent smokiness is there to my nose. I imagine a combo of seaweed and oud notes contribute to that. I also read I'm the comments below "smoky salty leather gasoline feel". Yep that's it. But I don't get much of the marine accord listed as dominant at the top of the accord stack here on Fragrantica. Marine accords to me are best exemplified by my favorites of the genre: Creed EROLFA, Roja Oceania, Sel Marin by James Heeley. I don't think I'm going to like Oud Minerale.

Grady

Aquatic black pepper. Lovely

Caldrumr

Quite interesting.
It's aquatic, but at the same time woody.
Sort of like a baby between Squid and ADG Profumo, plus some light woods.
A unique scent for warmer weather.
Not like anything else I have in my collection, which is rare.
There is no oud. I waited the entire time for any oud to make itself present, but it never happened. "Oud" here just means wood.

happybone

Tom Ford - Oud Minerale is my all-time favorite fragrance. There is nothing else like it out there, at all. Here is how I would best describe Oud Minerale: Imagine yourself at the beach...but not just any beach. Imagine yourself at a Pacific Northwest beach where the weather is overcast, the temperature is a brisk 50F degrees, the wind is blowing and there is a bit of mist in the air. Now as you approach this beach there is driftwood with some algae growing on it. That is the picture that Oud Minerale paints for me. The oud note is not powerful at all. There is definitely a strong salty/marine accord. One thing that really surprised me is the leather note that I get. For some reason it reminds me of a new car leather accord. The dry down is much more linear and loses that salty/marine notes. Please give this beauty a chance. It is NOT what you would expect from anything with the word 'Oud" in its name.

eaudemale

One of my favorite perfumes ever.. I hated it at first, it’s so peculiar that something about it stayed in my mind after trying it and I had to buy it. I could only think, why do I hate it but I’m drowned to it?
To translate the fragrance into words: a bit of gasoline, salty ocean air, pebbles (the rocks, it smells like rock minerals!), some noticeable oud and dry paper. Yes, that’s it for the first few hours, like a seashore that has been contaminated by oil during wintertime. Sillage is controllable from good to excessive depending on how much you spray, TF sprayers are like spits iykyk, longevity 8 hours. After the 3 hours mark (this would be relative to you bc my skin drinks perfumes), it’s a dry salty breeze of ambergris/ambroxan, the pebbles are still there and possibly calone or melonal (a little bit melony).
It can get you compliments back and forth because it smells amazing from afar to the untrained nose. it’s an excellent signature scent because no one else will be using it, even more now that the resort version is getting slashed also.

GardenElf

Except for Tobacco Vanile (I cannot stand vanilla in a fragrance), I thoroughly enjoy all tom ford releases.

This one is a hidden gem and I am glad I bought a 15ml sample. On me it smells like Lalique Encre Noire, mixed with sea salt. Rotting bark in a forest that starts very close to the sea, so it gets constant salty sea wind. I definitely recommend this for summer if you want to stand out from all the Blue de Chanels.

Germany

Versatile and unisex . Fresh and soapy. Almost like Irish soap body wash . I really enjoy this one it has a hint of oud but not much. I am not an oud fan at all so this is perfect !!

This is overbearing for me, and based on the advertisement, it is inspired by Paros, Greece. Funny that they aren't wrong, but unfortunately this reminds me more of Greek church incense than the beach(which I think is more what Tom Ford was going for here).

ggill1313

Love at first smell. I want to be clear that despite the (accurate) mentions of oceanic tones and seaweed, this is still a woody fragrance. In truth, I wish this stayed closer to how it smells upon first spray, because there’s a lot going on, but upon dry down, there’s something about this that reminds me of Drakkar Noir. Take that as you will.

I still love it and intend on buying a full bottle, but there’s something about that first spray that is simply magic. Lightning in a bottle. But once you let it out, well, it’s a bit of a downhill journey.

Invasionbg

Dry, salty, woody and very masculine. Glad I bought 2 bottles of this one while I still could. Last a very good amount of time and project little bit above average decent fragrance. So definitely a good pick up. Very happy with it, nice bold statement maker fragrance. 👍

jshark7892

It's very strong oud at first. After a few minutes you get the water notes. Then after a few hours is when it's the best, softer woody, sweeter, watery. Its great for almost any time in my opinion, although i prefer fresher, lighter fragrances for the day. Definitely want to add this one to the mix and really nice when layered with Molecule 01. I would save this for more special occasions and not an every day thing as it is a more complex, sophisticated scent. I also enjoy the sillage, it is the perfect amount for others to notice but not overpower.

Invasionbg

Tried it in a shop few weeks ago. Still thinking about it, can’t stop thinking about that slightly dirty marine saltiness 🫠

People say is been discontinued but it’s widely available and it is in stock on TF’s website.

Will buy it today, that’s for sure 🤑

Msc1977

I just got a bottle of this, wow! I love it.
It's so sexy, like making love in the forest, the fir balsam and styrax together, gives it that pungent, almost body odor (in a sexy way)
Like salty sweaty skin.
With the first spray it has the dry woodiness of being in a sauna, then the sweet and salty styrax a balsam creeps in.
I know this is redundant ravings, but I'm in love with this perfume.
This and Tuscan leather.... Dirty, sexy, and original.

evertonnick3

This is an awesome Fragrance that doesn't get the attention it deserves. It is so deep and rich, while still being fresh. The sea notes flow so perfectly with the woody notes. It lasts all day, and projects really well. This is super unique, and nobody is wearing it. I love this one. Tom Ford as usual, nailed it.

intofolklore

Oh boy. This is unlike anything I've smelled before and despite reading reviews on this frag for months, I was not prepared for this pungent seaweed mineral scent. It partially makes me a bit nauseous but it's also addicting. It's a work of art, whether it is a enjoyable fragrance for me or not.

aholubek

Strange, I'm not really sure if I like it. Smells like dry, earthy chalk to me. If you're into that, try it out.

I joined Fragrantica to just say how much I adore this perfume. Ocean: salt, cold air, seaweed, and freshness, a bit woody in the dry down to balance the notes, long-lasting, projects well. I just love everything about it (11/10). Also, I need to write about some other perfumes here as far as I am writing: TF OW (10/10, I love the balanced warmth and sweetness of this one), Clive Christian X for men (10/10, it takes you on a long journey of different aromas at different times of the day so it is like you have put 4-5 fragrances on, and it is a very beautiful journey), Oud for Greatness Initio (10/10, smells magnificent, long-lasting, great projection), Clive Christian Matsukita (9/10)
Do not waste your money: Kilian line (spicy booze, dislike, nothing unique), Memo line (a copycat of other fragrances)

wdpnrds

So artistic and crazy... but I like to wear it at home

nguyenkhuusg

At first, it's super bitter and medicinal due to the oud and heavy salt notes.

After 1-2 hours, it smells softer, but still super manly. Keep in mind, the salt note is very strong. Smelling this closely makes my mouth water as if I just taste table salt.

It smells best after 3-4 hours as it turns into a sophisticated skin scent for close encounters.

To sum up, the fragrance is similar to Dior Homme 2020 without all the citrus, but with a bunch of salt.

SimplDude

This is one of the scent profiles I’m looking for. An extraordinary scent that sets your mood and takes you to a time and place that you’ve been or you’ve never been before. Yes, it’s confusing that’s why I love it. As it’s aroma lingers, I could imagine I’m on the sea shore, a beach resort, or a light house. This is not something that I will wear as part of my regular grooming but I’ll wear this to enjoy the scent bubble it creates around me that stirs my imagination. Purely for my personal olfactory pleasure. Definitely a Spring and Summer scent 😎

“Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏

10/10 for uniqueness and artistry 🧑🎨

melusina1982

It smells like the sea and the rocks around it. Elegant and perfumey enough to be wearable.
The only TF that has ever caught my attention besides the elegant Grey Vetiver.
It is not something I would personally wear as it doesn't match my style in fragrance at all but I suggest trying it out if you are into this genre.

shalimaraddict

This is a unusual perfume, but I like it. There’s a dichotomy between salty sea noted and oud, with other woody notes. Somehow it works. It is a bit strong and somewhat synthetic. It is more of a mature scent.

Mjchaelj

This makes me feel like I’m in the middle of a storm on a ship in the cold sea. Seeing the seaweed note, I thought it would smell gross but it’s really elegant. Very interesting scent, it really transports you to a different place. That being said, it’s not really my type of smell. I prefer other types of marine scents like Costa Azzurra. Still though, this is pretty creative and interesting.

7.5/10

NOYFB22

The opening smells of the inside of my fishing tackle box, and I absolutely adore it.

Schirmy

When a fragrance is "transportative" to me, it makes it remarkable, even though I may not indeed like it. Oud Minerale is a remarkable fragrance, and I can appreciate the artistic approach to it. That being said, I don't enjoy this that much. It opens beautifully, then dries down to something kind of rank and salty. I'm 14 again on vacation playing golf. It's 11:00 A.M. and the sun is beaming down on the tee box. Next to it is a stream, it's grassy and muddy. Wafts of salty air bombard me and I smell lots of dirt and weeds. Something I can appreciate, but not wanna wear. Sorry, Tommy.

cyberleo4u

Love this fragrance!! As a lot have already said, it makes you feel like a pirate just after a year of sea scraping over you with basically salt embedded in your pores. I never had a fragrance with such a high concentration of sea notes with aromatic, citrusy and salty base notes. Definitely not an everyday perfume and you could wear this for almost 2 days straight and it might even stay there even after washing - and mind you just after two sprays.
Comments are mixed but ok - the smell is so interesting and alluring that some people might find it quite confusing =D

lzblz

Very salty and sour on me. I would like to smell this on someone else to see what I think

lordbig

A salty dog scent. The dark, seaweed laden sea churns around the skeleton of a ship, the beams sticking up like a ribcage toward the iron sky. You watch from a slick mossy rock, breathing in the salt mist. "Aye, a storms a brewing"

Not photorealistically-it doesn't actually smell like the sulphurous, fishy sea-but that is the feeling it gives. It still smells like a sexy cologne. Woody, salty, cold, and wet. Fresh, but somehow gloomy. Not the citrusy, turquoise sea scents you are used to.
Definitely leans masculine in traditional terms, but a fresh dark scent is so hard to come by, so goths of all genders who get headaches rejoice!

Heelmac1968

This is without a doubt my absolute favorite Tom Ford Fragrance. The minute I put it on I am transported to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the sky is gray, the wind is blowing and the ocean is creating a mist that gently lands on face and skin. This fragrance, in my opinion is a masterpiece and there is not another fragrance out there like it. The Acqua Di Gio marines are much more sweet and less salty. The salty works masterfully here in this fragrance. I have been told the reformulation is NOT as good as the original private blend. I have the private blend and I can tell you this fragrance lasts a long time and has super projection. It peaks people's interest because it is so unique. The oud in this really shines through way down in the fragrance mixing with the salt and the marine smell, it is some kind of good. It is a masculine scent in my opinion and when you wear it, wear it with confidence and be ready to answer the questions about what it is you are wearing. It is, for me a compliment getter.

The Nose that Knows

This is not your typical mainstream fragrance.
Definitely for the mature and distinguish. It's a lovely fragrance.

ckorp8

I guess I have to give up on this type of scent, the sea note, sea salt, marine type. I can hardly get any scent from this bottle and whatever I’m getting, I’m not enjoying it. Salty and green scent is what I vaguely get. Might layer it with something and hopefully it will be better. Anyway, spraying this on clothing works better than on skin, but even then it still isn’t what I was hoping for.

Edit. Layering with Costa Azzurra works quite will. Same with Wood Sage and Sea Salt by Jo Malone.

Edit. Remains lingering scent on my pajamas for over 24hrs already. Why do the ones you don’t really enjoy have so much longevity, I don’t know.

eaudemale

Many compliments, women love this.. they find it unisex, to me this is uber masculine.
Gasoline note with a salty, mineral undertone and oud. Yes, it has oud.. smells like a sea port. It's almost linear until the oud disappears after 2 hours, then it's mostly a breeze salty mineral scent. I got the old version but if the new one is similar, this is well worth the $.. it's unusual and you're not going to smell like anybody else.

Devalera

A bright fresh opening, like standing on the promenade on a winters day, with the wind cutting into you and the salty spray hitting you, invigorating

Hansolo

This is great..a different take on a marine/ aquatic scent. Perfectly unisex and inoffensive in my opinion. I expected it to be dense and heavy but its light..and long lasting. If I had to compare for anyone to get an idea, I'd say it reminds me of Le Labo 13..but salty

WGG

This is for the frosted bottle and I'm against trend here. I was brought up nearby a beach in Scotland. OM smells like an East coast haar, salty, seaweed, metallic almost, like drying cement. It chilled to the bone and I think this is why I find OM difficult. The irony is my wife likes and wears it (she wasn't anywhere near the sea but dreams of our having a house near a beach!)
Apols to the lovers but it's a dislike from me.
1.5/5
PS I've messed around with layering this just to add that 'sea' note. Add to Light Blue you get close to Eau Intense, there's hope yet.

scnofthcrime

My top favorite Tom Ford. To me this is sipping a peat-y whiskey in late fall on a cold beach. It might be raining lightly.

It's marine, but not tropical. This is how a beach in Scotland smells in my imagination. It's got a coolness that mixes so well with the slight whiskey smell I get from this. The scene I've painted makes this seem like it would be hyper masculine, but this scent has such a softness and a sort of contemplative quality that I'd say it's firmly unisex.

afterburnerz27

This is that cold, salty, Pacific Northwest marine scent that I've been looking for! Before that, the closest was Kingston Ferry by Olympic Orchids, but this one doesn't have the diesel fuel accord, and is just the water. I love it. Even though it's more a warm weather scent, it's got the heart to last in the cold.

AA4102

The opening instantly reminded me of CK2. There's that little bit of a harshness but the drydown is beautiful.

PPAN

Seaweed, Pepper and Oud. Everything is synthetic yet the result is so natural smelling I thought I was swimming out at sea on a dark gray day. I agree with the commenter saying it's ridiculous to compare this to stuff like Aqva. Oud Minerale is the actual ocean - filled to the brim with realistic seaweed, salt and a little bit of fishiness.

I was one of the lucky few who got the original Private Blend bottle before it was discontinued (in favor of the much more gasoline-like Oud Wood), so I was a bit disappointed when I heard this was coming back in a "Resort Collection" frosted glass bottle at a much lower price.

Well, turns out the new frosted glass bottle is surprisingly much uglier and doesn't go well with the cheap shiny label. I guess you get what you pay for, now that the brand is under the care of Estee Lauder. I'm happy with my original bottle!

UnWokeDeplorable

As a resident of Miami, I’m constantly looking for fresh, oceanic scents and this has become my new go-to. It’s masculine, breezy, and different. It lasts long on the skin too. People were complimenting me on it 5 hours after I sprayed it. I’m a big fan.

Shadow_Slammer

My gf absolutely loves this fragrance, it’s her favorite by far. The opening is quite harsh to me, but smells good on the dry down. Very aquatic and salty like a cold ocean. I like it.

Migs007

It appears that my review was taken down. So here it is again.

Do not blind buy. I did and it went right back to Ulta.

ac230959

Initially quite strong
Settles and is gorgeous
After about 4 hours smells like a cheap deodorant.
I am posting my view, not to cause any offence who love it.

forjeangouds

I am not into marine/aquatic/ozone-style fragrances. They just don't do anything for me. The Tom Ford perfumes that I love and adore are along the lines of Shanghai Lily, Noir de Noir, Vert D'Encens and Champaca Absolut (to name the main ones, but there are others...). Why on earth then should I fall in love with Oud Minerale? It makes no sense to my taste/choices - and yet I love it so much. I've tried to break it down to understand and I don't. All I can think is that the oud underneath the ocean draws me in. Sometimes you have to stop thinking so damned much and just realise that you love something and are seduced by it and why does it matter that it doesn't fit your specific mould? That's what this fragrance is to me, gorgeous and unknowing.

black matte spray

This is it. This is the ocean fragrance I've been searching for. It isn't a sedate, sunny day at the beach; it's getting lost in the woods at the top of a cliffside beach while a hurricane pelts you with raindrops that might leave bruises and the underbrush scrapes and stabs at your limbs through the rain-saturated clothes that cling to your body like plastic wrap. The opening is like getting slapped in the face with a spray of sea mist inexplicably mixed with droplets of gasoline; it's a distinctly ugly scent, but it's intoxicating. The whole thing is salty as hell. I love every stage of it. There's a barely-there hint of sweetness to it. and that's exactly how much there should be. It reminds me of the smell of very wet, very old trees you get walking through the woods after a prolonged downpour. This is not the kind of perfume you wear for compliments; you wear it for yourself. It makes me feel more like me.

markfromark

My nose must be broken. To me this smells like a salty version of Encre Noir Sport. I know vetiver isn't listed here, but that doesn't mean it's not in there.

bart4543

The opening is a bit harsh and polarizing with the smoky salty leather gasoline feel but after about 30 minutes everything comes together beautifully. There is a slight sweet coconuty undertone that creates a smooth balmy beachy impression. The juxtaposition of dark exotic woods with light summary sea breeze is both interesting and intoxicating.

manila_nose

Aside from the prominent marine/salty accord, Oud Minerale also smells like refreshing root beer. There’s also a hint of dried plum. A good alternative to citrus-leaning fragrances for summer. There’s something about this scent that commands attention. An 8 out of 10 for me.

spumyland

It opens fecal, salty, oily, leathery and chewy, in a subtle, spicy, squeaky way.
Storax balsamic, medicinal oud.

In the wake I can imagine algae, rocks, salty air, all quite straight, but a short distance from the nose and on my skin this is raw and oppressive.
Like a leather shoe box closed for a century in hot sand.
With oily, flabby, decaying leather.
If there is ambergris it is black as coal.
I also feel a truffle undertone.
Here, his fir resin manages to improve the trail in an interesting and masculine way.

Yet another marine that does not work for me, but that compared to others in the category is simpler, less offensive and adaptable in the stratifications.
Sorry.

Ethanrules97!

So many people reference the smell of the ocean. So many ridiculous comparisons like bvlgari Aqua etc.. Oud Minerale actually smells like the ocean. Amazing scent

Thanasis_87k

Woody and salty, you can sense the pepper and something green-ish (probably the seaweed).
A marine scent with gravitas.
Definitely masculine. Performance for 4hrs+. I first got a sample (decant) which caused me headache (really intense), but the one in the TF bottle seems more tamed. It worths to get the 100ml value for money.

Tee

modern woody oud by the beach. i love the marine notes so much … it makes me feel relaxed and happy the moment i spritzed the scent. not the regular aquatic marine notes.. thia is somehow deeper, thanks to the hint of seaweed. brings me back to my childhood …

pince_nez

A Tom Ford take on oudh with marine notes that is -- awesome! And oozes class!

If by marine or seaweed notes you immediately conjour Acqua di Gio pour homme or L'eau d'Issey, you would be off the mark. This is not the ephemeral, Calone-inspired, sea breeze-tinged fragrance of yesteryears. Rather a new take on oudh. An odd combination really. And rather way out on left field.
It stands out because it is so unexpectedly delightful. It basically is not meant to work well, this combination. But it does, surprisingly!
On first sniff you get a green/ spicy/ vegetal whiff that connotes driftwood or seaweed or the salty tang of the ocean. It is not sharp. More rounded, but has an edge. There is a touch of earthiness in it -- like vetiver. The smokiness and medicinal aspect of the oudh is not front and center. Rather it muted, made to play in the background.
What you get is a marine-inspired oudh fragrance that is imminently wearable, versatile, refined, and well-behaved.

Sillage is good. And this is not too dark to wear, even in Spring.

A++

Kakarot

This frag is not for the faint of heart. I bought this with rewards points and I meant to buy oud wood, long story. I’m glad I did because I do really like it and I think this would qualify as beast mode. I definitely get oud and salty. I’m a noob so I can’t really pick out anything more than that. I find the hotter the day the better for this frag and only wear it when I know I will be outside. I think it smells much different going form indoor to outdoor. Def a summer frag.

Ps. I have the frosted bottle and purchased recently

Jbicanic89

I own both the Private Blend edition and the new Resort edition, I tried to find the difference in both of them but I can't. I dont detect any difference between the two. Longevity is the same and the scent is the same.

Tolkashutka

I received a ~1 mL decanted sample of Private Blend Oud Minerale (the resort collection had not yet been released) with another TF decant order late last year.

I get the same oceanic realness funky vibe (not same notes, but vibe) from Oud Minerale that I did from Womanity. With Oud Minerale, that funky ocean vibe comes from the combination of salt, seaweed and ambergris, whereas with Womanity it was the caviar that was serving ocean realness.

Either way, I have discovered that I am a weenie when it comes to realistic aquatic scents. I like my aquatics clean, polished, and easy to enjoy--and I personally find Oud Minerale to be a bit challenging for my tastes.

The higher asking price for the Private Blend moves what would be an "okay" to a "dislike" from me. I am curious to sample the Resort Collection's version (which is either part of the Signature line, or at least very similarly priced) before writing off the scent entirely, but I'm in no huge rush to check it out.

e.j.crooks

I love this fragrance, but was concerned that the new Resort Collection edition may have changed or diluted the scent. Today I wore the older Private Blend edition on one wrist, and the new Resort Collection edition on the other wrist. Despite expecting and trying to find differences, I have to admit that I didn’t detect any difference between the two in terms of either the scent or its performance. The packaging may be a step down, but the perfume itself to me seems just as gorgeous as before.

alanwake

Resort Edition is not as dense, nor full-bodied as the Private Blend, but the scent is still gorgeous. It's bit more wearable, versatile, airier, greener and smoother. A masterpiece.

b1ad3

This is a review of the private blend. There is some real artistry in this fragrance. I feel like I'm on a rocky beach, in the shade on a cool summer day. There is seaweed and wood washing up on the rocky shore, and there is a forest of fir behind me. The oud is only noticeable in the background, but it is well balanced. This is a clean, aquatic, salty work of art.

Scent: 3/5
Longevity: 3/5
Sillage: 3/5

AadityaM999

If you've ever tried Angostura bitters, it smells exactly like that. Very aromatic and salty.

anders.pilot

Mediocre at best, not bad, smells a bit like Costco seaweed snacks with added salt. It almost smells like a condiment of some kind for use with a fish and chip dinner. Cool. Who wouldn't want to smell like an oceanic condiment.

Migs007

Do not blind buy. I did and it went right back to Ulta.

Rorshach1004

Just purchased the 'Resort Collection' and am more than happy with my decision. Dark, smoky, salty, and absolutely perfect for the summer months. Don't sleep on this one. For the new price, it's an absolute bargain.

silviamm

Somehow layered this with shalimar (shop assistant sprayed it in the wrong place) and i have to say the combo is rather lovely.

aaronmilic

So much to say about this...

First and foremost, this review is not about the original Private Blend version (which I have never tried) but the new budget version with the ugly frosted bottle, white box and cheap sticker. The presentation, for Tom Ford, is lacking. I guess you get what you pay for.

Secondly I typically don't like aquatic scents for the simple fact that they all smell the same. Overall, this is no exception however there's enough going on underneath that I do like this. Not love but like.

Thirdly, what comes out of the bottle and onto the skin smells different than what you smell on the cap so be sure to wear this one to get the full effect. This goes on quite wet also so spray on skin, I wouldn't spray on clothes in case it stains.

Fourth, the first thing I thought of when I put this on was "Oh! So this is what Kramer's 'Beach' fragrance must have smelled like." Seinfeld reference, my apologies to the younger audience. But yeah, my wife was in the next room when I put it on and she said "why are you wearing sunscreen?". To me this smelled exactly the same as when we enter the beach area near our cottage. Lake water, wood, bonfire, sunscreen, algae, trees... I get all of that.

So the question is, do people want to smell like that? I like it and I think in the appropriate setting this would work. I actually feel it may be too young for me. Teenage me would have loved this. Definitely a Spring and Summer one for me, day or night. It's fairly soft in the performance and that's with five sprays. I imagine it will be long gone before the end of the day.

As it dries down it's becoming a little more generic but I guess having one aquatic scent in my collection won't hurt, in case I'm ever in the mood but I doubt I'll be reaching for this much unless I'm heading to the beach.

spiceysauce5

To me this smells exactly like a smoky/briney scotch, minus the actual booze part. It's Not full on lephroig, maybe closer to lagavulin, but it's extremely similar in experience. Problem is, I don't want to sip scotch for 8hrs straight (maybe most ppl would), so it's a no go for me. Very true marine, too much so for me. I appreciate the scent as a reference point for marine notes, and am happy it exists, and now for cheaper than ever!

tropicalfruit42

fell in love with it pretty quick.

it's super soft. doesn't feel like a harsh smelling salt. there is a mild sweetness from what i imagine is the ambergris. very nice for a wet-ish day. i could see myself wearing it in the summer but the mood it produces feels more appropriate for a lush, grey day.

not offensive at all. the only other marine fragrance i've smelled is MMM sailing day. any 'seaweed' smell this gives off is a lot more toned and feels like it's been blended more nicely. perhaps i'm biased with the price/house differences.

i see this as a blind buy. singerfox painted a nice image of this being a yacht club smell. i feel like i'd smell this in a dark, brisk, granite hotel lobby.

singhdivjot

After a dozen of wearings, i just figured out that all the heart notes of this fragrance smell like acqua di gio profumo.
Although i liked it first, but have stated gravitating away from it these days.

Fragranceluva4u

This was another great one by Tom Ford. Ford seems to be discontinuing some very good fragrances to make room for his over priced new releases that aren’t up to par in my humble opinion.

dimtze123

My favorite from Tom, wish didn’t discontinue

NICHE SNOB

You’re a Viking, you’ve been on your longboat for days sailing to plunder this season. You are anxious as sea spray hits the side of your boat. You finish carving a face into a small log of wood and sheath your knife. You put your armour on, you arm yourself. You disembark from your boat in shallow waters and you and the rest of your company then push the boat until it is beached stably. You feel the crunch of the stones of this new rocky beach crumble beneath your feet. There’s a breeze in the air waves crash against the faces of cliffs as seaweed is pushed onto shore and pulled back in with the current.

This fragrance is what you smell.

Artistic rating: 9/10 a atmospheric fragrance if there ever was one, vintage private blend creativity.

Personal taste: 3/10 a salty steely breezy mess(to my pallet)

Ayham1234

Simply the Nicholas version of the Bulgari amara perfume, but this does not detract from the value of the fragrance, on the contrary, how I wished for the mandarin note to be the small orange (less sharp in Amara, and here in this fragrance does not exist, so keep the fragrance of the most beautiful in Amara the very elegant marine note) With seaweed and black pepper in an unparalleled balance, forming a fashionable fragrance, did Tom Ford succeed in this fragrance? For me, yes, the perfume is as sophisticated as you can imagine, and the oud here in the name does not exist. It was written only for one thing, which is to join The fragrance is for the gray group that bears the word Oud, the people of oriental taste are a step back, if you are of those with a taste full of youth and the dress of fashion and elegance this fragrance will suit them, the performance of the fragrance is excellent and especially the stability The purity of the fragrance to the maximum extent you inhale and hold your breath so as not to leave Your lungs. What blame on the perfume its high price, otherwise it is excellent ???? From all sides, according to my own taste of course ???? . My affection ???

KID KOUROS

We have the Sole di Positano, the mandarino di Amalfi and Oud Minerale, which should have been called Mare di Cetara or Vietri, to give a better idea of what it really is.
I specify these two areas, because in the small coastal beaches the sun goes away earlier in the summer as they are exposed, and already at 4 in the afternoon there are shaded areas at sea.

And this is exactly what this scent evokes, getting out of the salt water and resting on the "beach" of stones in the shade dominated by the characteristic plants of the Mediterranean scrub that fill the air with their scents.
So it tastes of SEA and is very distant from classic Oud, if not for a hypothetical woody * mineralized * like a log brought ashore by the sea, then a reinterpretation of the classic oud theme that would explain its name.

Not exceptional performance, certainly not worthy of the tag. It is not clear to me if it is out of production as it is on various platforms but not on the house website;
Not bad, it has some alternatives such as Aqva by Bvlgari (less salty)

Singerfox

I definitely get the marine part of this fragrance, but it isn't a beach, it's more of a yacht club scent. Somewhere on a lovely wood dock.
The interesting thing is it also smells like the incense in a cathedral or church, but higher quality or an older edifice. Brings a sense of calm and wonder when wearing it. Lasts forever, well into the next day, major plus.

A.Bandini

A blend of very contradicting notes and the result is great. This is a dust to dawn fragrance with a tremendous performance for a fragrance with this kind of scent profile which is rather fresh. Fresh with backbone. It lingers around 12 hours on your skin and you will always be able to catch a nice whiff of your own self throughout the day. Its like the grayish shores of oregon, not as cold as the british columbian shore but not as warm as the californian shores either, it lies somewhere in between and yet its still pacific. Seaweed, driftwood, ambergris (this one gives the whole thing an edge)...my personal favorite for the warmer days and nights. Except of winter, perfectly usable in all other seasons.

Rated_mo

So there are 2 kinds of sea shores, sandy soft airy one smells fresh (bvlgari aqva) and a one with many rocks covered with green slippery sea weed where your kids can't play.. If u get the smell there it'd be a bit salty and skanky.. But also fresh.. This is oud minrale.. Much more realistic sea smell than bvlgari.. Interesting smell but not a signature worthy I belive, but its basically a real sea in a bottle

hawa438

I'm very surprised that they discontinued this. I've visited two different Tom Ford boutiques in the past year and was told by sales associates how well it sells due to its mainstream aquatic approach. I'm guessing that it didn't necessarily sell amazingly across the globe.

Mista1daful

Interesting scent to say the least. Almost doesn't smell like perfume. Kinda makes my skin smell like it's been seasoned and brined in saltwater. Imagine washing ashore on one of those lost tribe islands, and they immediately started sprinkling you with pepper as they started a fire using local driftwoods... Canabilistic vibes aside, although a nice scent, definitely not worth the arm & a leg Private Blends go for. Does last a long time on my skin, but seems to disappear within an hour or 2 on clothes.

BirkinSmell

Salty sexy thing. Many people consider this their signature so i'm surprised that Tom Ford has discontinued it.

Aqua Velveeta

Ouch. This one really singes my nostrils. Was excited for the "stormy day at the beach" feel others describe, but it just smells like wet rocks to me. If I ever find an occasion where I need to smell like a wet rock, I'll look for my decant of Oud Minerale.

cpellegrino

Wearing this for the first time. You can really smell the fir and the agarwood/oud. I really like how the sea salt, seaweed, and fir kind of work with the woody notes. Nothing seems to be overpowering one another. I like the scent quite a lot.

That said, the cost is not justified. Not by a long shot. I would love to buy a bottle before its discontinuation, but sadly I can only afford a decant.

Bubbles1964

Decided to switch perfumes mid day. It’s a cloudy, cool summer day that feels more like Fall weather, so I decided it would make sense to spritz Oud Minerale.

I think this is one of Tom Fords best offerings: a realistic cold, ocean smell with salt, seaweed and minerals.

Recently I bought a full size bottle after pining for this fragrance for more than three years. Reading that it’s on the chopping block inspired me to hunt it down. Luckily I found it for a great deal from a Canadian retailer.

The review directly below mine is extremely accurate. This is an anti-perfume (love that description!) and is full of contradictions; feels natural but is full of synthetics. A mish-mash of odd notes that somehow works. When I wear it, I feel it... taste it even. There’s a metallic aspect to it that makes my teeth tingle.

With decent projection, those around me are always intrigued.

This is my second review. Thanks to dadudelebowski for reminding me why I love it too.

alanwake

I appreciate this fragrance a lot, as this is probably one of Fords underrated masterpieces in regards to perfumery. It reminds me of why I like fragrances. Oud Minerale transports me to the Santa Monica pier, where you catch whiffs of seaweed, sand, wet rocks and soaked boardwalk wood. Its a cool and moist scent that can come off as pungent. What I enjoy most about it is the smell of wet stones that coexist with the smell of minerals - or of wet granite that has drifted ashore. Synthetic in nature, but at the same time very natural smelling, all most an anti perfume, as it smells so austere and raw. A scent I don't necessarily have to own, but one I can respect. Anchors Aweigh.

imissaramis

Surely the most underrated TomFord private line . beautiful, slightly somber , very magical. Top 5 of all time for me .

scottgiles86

I pick up little Oud. Smells like Bvlgari Aqva on an overcast day. Same smell minus the fruit and floral notes Also similar to Acqua di Gio with the citrus notes replaced by woods. Darker and saltier...like a large piece of driftwood in cave on the beach with salt crystals forming near the tidepools. Good smell and very well blended. A must try if you love true aquatic fragrances, but not safe to blind buy...especially at private blend prices. Not worth the money TF wants for it.

jcorreaabq

To my nose the reviews are way off on this - not their opinion, but the preferred season. I also don't think this would work as well in the day. This is a night or cool cloudy day fragrance. And, in my view, would work best mid Spring. Not saying it wont, but I think it would lose its charm on hot Summer days (maybe rainy summer days would be nice, though).

It's a romantic fragrance, but not in the traditional sense. It has some tragicness to it. I picture cloudy skies, slightly windy nights, with storms coming in. But you're with your lover, and it doesn't matter because you're full of love.

***Update: Someone below stated that this was meant to be layered, or might be better layered. Using my sample, I added some to my skin with Invasion Barbare (own the full bottle) - fantastic. I could see this working with Creed's Aventus, or something a bit sweeter. It balances it up nicely, even in the hotter days, and give you something truly original.

jacobcruzrine

This fragrance is incredibly special.

If you tried, you could separate these notes out into wet rock/cement, rubber, oud, saline, and skin-like minerals, but the blend is so well done that you smell everything at once. And, everything at once translates as everyone else has said: like you are at the beach on a cloudy day. This is probably the most successful attempt I've ever smelled at bottling a "place". To me, this scent is extremely comforting, but to others, it can read cold.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It lasts a really long time too, which is a good sign that they are using concentrated stuff in here; which they better at $240 for 50ml. I sprayed this on my chest and I could still smell the fragrance two days later on the shirt I was wearing. If you didn't shower, I bet this could last 48 hours.

While I do love this fragrance a lot, I find it to be a bit too bleak for my overall personality, so it doesn't quite "fit" me. Also, that price is very hard to swallow for a fragrance that is, frankly, a very casual one. This begs to be worn daily, especially on vacation, but you'll probably feel guilty if you buy a bottle of this yearly.

If TF ever made this $100 for 50ml, I'd probably buy a bottle just for special occasions. For now, I'll treasure my sample and wear it sparingly on lazy, rainy weekends.

liketheboys

I agree with the tidepool associations and the overcast day vibe. Other times, though, it’s the smell of wringing out your swimming trunks after an hour in the pool. The noble-looking bottle may suggest otherwise, but this smells quite chemical every other whiff or so. With time, it grows thinner and thinner but stays strong. It is a good performer, but to my nose it smells much more natural when used only very sparingly. A bit difficult to wear. I think that, strangely, a larger dose of oud would balance this out for me and take the watery aromachemical some of its bite.

Edit: taking it out into a cool early summer breeze has made this shine. It’s very good outdoors.

butterbean

WOW.

Truly a masterfully done fragrance that gives the sensation of an overcast partly cloudy day at the ocean. Walking along the beach smelling the sea breeze with a most wonderful hypnotic effect of mineral notes, woody drift wood, and ambergris.

It is fresh, somewhat of an aquatic sea side/beach scent, yet woody and complex.

I love wearing this. I am female.

(fyi - this is somewhat similar to Sydney Rock Pool, but w/o the coconut and very light floral notes)

germichte

Like taking a long dive behind the Exxon Valdez. I really respect the expertise in creating this fragrance, but where and when the hell am I supposed to wear this?

I'll keep layering it with Costa Azzurra for more depth. I think layering is the true purpose of this fragrance.

Tokyo Lights

Tom Ford gets a lot of hate in some quarters, but whatever you think of him, it's beyond debate that he has some highly creative fragrance offerings - and this is certainly among them.
It's got something like a seawater/seaweed/oud focus. This may sound quite weird, but it works. It's beautifully balanced and blended, and the oud is there in a moderate dose - it's integral to the experience you get, but it doesn't overwhelm the other ingredients.
I get good sillage with this, and very good performance, with only three or four sprays: it will project for a couple of feet around me for a couple of hours, and the dry down is very slow...you'll still get whiffs of it after eight or ten hours.
As a few people have said, this is NOT your typical summer fragrance. Rather than carrying you off to a tropical beach or a seaside garden, this one will carry you off to somewhere more exotic; a wooden dhow, sails open, cutting through a choppy Red Sea on a warm, windy day...

Ambroxer

Tom Ford’s a man who enjoys issuing a challenge in his fragrances. Either by giving them names of shock value innuendo or as a group of more challenging notes behind a conspicuous descriptor seemingly named by engineers. Credit where it is due, I give the man respect for bold choices.

Oud Minerale is, of course, a very conspicuous descriptor of what awaits inside the bottle. It’s got some oud but mostly minerals, in this case salt. It’s an aquatic, but unlike what we normally associate with aquatics. Rather than the olfactive equivalent of a day at the beach, Oud Minerale is more a day aboard a pirate ship lost at sea. This makes it much more challenging than its genre brethren. Wearing it gives the distinct impression of breathing in harshly salty water. I get thirsty after wearing it for about an hour. If you’ve ever been to The Salton Sea in the California desert, that’s what this fragrance reminds me of. A body of water incapable of supporting life surrounded by desolation. Oud Minerale keeps things dark and for loners, a big step away from your usual aquatic.

None of that should be taken as negative criticism, however. Oud Minerale is a very rewarding fragrance. Bold, sophisticated and vast. It gives the sense of being far out to sea, maybe with the jeopardy of a large storm approaching.

This is a loaded statement to make, but I’ll go ahead: Oud Minerale is for real pirates, not Johnny Depp Hollywood pirates.

Ok the listed notes make one imagine this being an Acquatica type fragrance. To my nose it’s more of a deep or daring fragrance. If Acquatic it’s more of a scanky seaweed scent with some Oud in the background. I would not classify this as a freshie whatsoever. It’s bold and not very versatile at all. I’d say a cooler night time fragrance for maybe an outdoor event. I somewhat enjoyed the sample someone sent me but my wife became nauseous. Therefore I’m going to have to pass on this one as I’m venturing into Tom Ford’s Private Blends Line. I’d definitely say this is a love or hate fragrance but for the ones who like a strong, bold, and risky fragrance give it a try. Sample before purchase!

BigPine

Dark Adventure - or possibly even Grim or Fey.

Just trying a decant now - so far I give it a high rating. I have not ranked the longevity as I've only been wearing about an hour, but it's still there.

The primary scent I get is driftwood, with a salty marine smell in the background, but there's also an undertone note that I can't place that is a that cuts the salt a notch to great success. Absolutely not a "Tropical Beach" - more of a Fall/Winter Seaside vibe, exactly what I've been looking for and what G&B Pacific Beach Moss isn't. The latter being on my mind since I tried it earlier this morning.

Oud Minerale is rather sophisticated and "Deep", rather than a "Freshie" Aquatic.

EDIT: Longevity was more than 8 hours. Here is the essence:
"Standing on a seaweed-strewn shore of the North Atlantic next to a large branch that dried up on shore after floating in the Ocean. Not too far away is a dock, with a working boat - not a yacht, but a lifeboat or tugboat - being refueled with diesel."

Sadly, my wife and female assistant can't stand it. They claimed it filled the room, and in fairness I felt the projection quite strong as well. I thought it was fantastic and brought back memories of working on the pier in the Autumn as a teenager in New England.

Time/Date: This is a great fragrance for an outdoor event or date, but I would be cautious of wearing it in the Office or confined space. I'd say Fall/Winter, but equally night or day. To me it suggests a dangerous adventure or even a sense of deep resolve.

Conclusion:
If you want the Scent of the North Atlantic Oceanside and not Hawaii, Caribbean, South Seas, or Med Vacation, this is pretty darn close.

It's like Marmite - you love it or hate it.

cheetspeek

Simply outstanding. It smells like someone put the beach in a tuxedo and sunglasses - marine and salty, but with heady depth and a deeper, darker edge. Though I primarily treat it as a nighttime fragrance, it's flexible enough for daytime use in more buttoned-up settings, and while it's best from spring to fall, I've worn it in the dead of winter to great effect. Performance is excellent, with 10-12 hours common on my skin. I'll spray it on at night and still smell it clearly the next morning.

It's pricey, no doubt, but its uniqueness and longevity will justify the price for some. Not everyone will enjoy the heavy and in-your-face character of salty seaweed and wood, so it's definitely not a blind buy, but those who like it will really like it. As a lover of beachy/marine scents, this hooked me from the first spray, and I can't think of many fragrances that I enjoy more. A significant signature scent candidate for me.

As a fun aside, my first test-run of Oud Minerale was a classy night out with friends. After an hour or two, one of them mentioned that she wanted to stand next to me and smell me all night after demanding to know what I was wearing - if that's not a ringing endorsement of a fragrance choice, what is?

Callum

Very unique fragrance and I'm not sure I've ever smelt anything like it. Saw someone ask if this was similar to Creed's Erolfa because they were both marine fragrances. They couldn't be more different. Erolfa is like a fresh, fruity aquatic with sparkling blue waters and melon/slightly green undertones. If Erolfa represents the Mediterranean, this is the Black Sand Beach in Iceland. This is salty, dirty, gritty and stoney. It's strong but not overpowering and also has good longevity. I feel like it's quite versatile in an odd way as it's fresh, clean and spicy (ish). Very unique, very good.

Sighofwinter

To add to my review, if you have bad performance make sure you don't check if its there like I have a habit of doing. Do 2-4 sprays and let it work its magic and waft in the air, theres a note in this that I get far too used to and go noseblind if I keep checking if it's still projecting.

mmpnguyen

This is fantastic. A great lighter alternative to Oud Wood, but don’t let that fool you – this one lasts. I get 10+ hours longevity with 3 sprays to the chest and 2 hours of solid projection. This performs insanely well for me, and seemingly clings onto clothes for an indefinite amount of time (if unwashed obviously). Try spraying half your routine before work and half after to get beast mode performance. It is light enough to work as a signature scent, but bold enough to make you feel like the boss. It doesn’t evolve much throughout its wear, but I’m ok with that as what you get is simply sublime. Highly recommend giving this one a try if you want something bold that you can wear every day anytime of the year (best for Spring through Fall).

Nice idea, but something is wrong here. I like it, but again, it seems unfinished. At that price point, it's unacceptable!

Sighofwinter

As soon as I smelt it I sighed a sigh of relief, and felt instantly euphoric. This even helps with my anxiety disorder and is just so comforting. It starts off with this salty marine accord supported by woodsy tones and seawood, you won't find any pure oud here, but more of a salt covered subtle oud, it makes me think of a grim stormy beach on an overcast day strolling along as the waves crash in and slowly push and swirl seaweed along the beach. An incredibly relaxing scent and I will be buying a 250ml soon.

Boughetto

Imagine an actor (not unlike charlie sheen) playing a navy SEAL who just got out of the ocean from a full day dive, after having done maintenance on an old, oily submarine. that actor was wearing acqua di gio for some unknown reason.

I say actor, as opposed to the real thing, bc this thing smells like typical designer (a core of acqua di gio, but covered by murkier, dirtier elements). a niche-quality version of this would have been intriguing; a 21st century Fahrenheit, perhaps.

it's an interesting spin on a designer classic, but hardly worth the TFPB price.

rsbarga

This was yet another blind purchase and I simply don't pull for this bottle. Open to selling for any reasonable price.

a9a

I have genuine difficulty picking out notes in this...general take away is as with a lot of TF, interesting and a little quirky, but not necessarily 'crowd-pleasing'.

Pleasant aquatic off the top, salt, seaweed, a slightly earthy freshness. Evolution is marginal--smells the same to me from an hour on. Base is...mineral, almost like a marble/granite countertop.

Like this one, but don't love it.

asgeirn

this pushes all the right buttons in my brain. maybe the best perfume I've ever smelled. signature-worthy for as long as I live.

For a 2017 release, I’m just surprised how similar this is to Acqua di Gio. Oddly enough, it also smells like Creed Spice and Wood. Oud Minerale probably falls somewhere between those two fragrances but with much more potency. Oud Minerale definitely lasts a good 10 hours whereas the other two are very soft. So the performance is great, but it’s just not that original. It does have some salty nuances for an hour or so, and the oud is slightly detectable, but you end up with a very general good smelling aquatic. It’s not bad by any means - it’s actually good - but I thought aquatics were dead. If there is a way to bring back the 90s, this is it. If you still like listening to Blind Melon, then you can smell the part by spraying some Oud Minerale. Again, I like it, and I may even end up buying it, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking like some of the reviews suggest. Some of the reviewers are clearly influenced by fragrance names and marketing, so try this one and form your own opinion. Damn good smell, though. Come to think of it, I miss the 90s. Maybe aquatics aren’t dead.

I will add that this scent is evocative - cold dreary beaches in the fall is definitely the feel you get. So, there’s that...

gabri

I wouldn't risk my money on any Ford fragrance without testing first.Unfortunately there are no scent bars near me. So would probably rather try my luck on Fragrenza Marine Oud, just in case the loss wouldn't be so great.

Gileshowe

In the same way that if you blur your eyes someone with terrible skin can look flawless, this scent can also be redolent of a sea breeze on a cold day and all the blustry gruff melancholy of a Scottish beach: bitter pieces of driftwood, desolate windswept sands, the biting sting of sea spray and the crowing call of wretched seagulls overhead. But again, only if you blur your eyes... otherwise it smells noxious and ozonic and industrial and functional
- I imagine being trapped inside a dry-cleaning machine!! And it isn't entirely unpleasant, but it isn't pretty. It is cold, bleak, melancholic, desolate, lonesome, depressive, wallowing, nordic noir, grey skies and discomfort. It is the smell of being dissatisfied with life, of being forced to make peace with a long joyless winter, of being mired to reality and anchored to mediocrity.

The oud/ocean theme is a very interesting one though, and one that is very hard to do. I can only think of a few fragrances that explore this theme, which are either trailblazers of a whole new subgenre of wonder and strangeness, or will be brief anomalies in the continuum of perfume history. When you think about it, most scents that you would presume to put together have some sort of facet that they share, a venn diagram that connects them to each other. Eg, rose can be musky or powdery or floral or green so can marry well with any of those things with which it shares a aspect. Oud and the ocean have nothing in common - one smells nothing like the other. So putting them together in a perfume you are presented with a mountaintop and a deep valley but the middle part of the picture - the mountain itself - is missing. So your brain must fill in the gaps, and having so few clues as to what the body of the mountain might look like or how they connect, your imagination can run quite wild and fill the space with fantastic images and whims, much like how the google AI image generator can create nightmares in the dark spaces of an image. This idea is much better executed in Raymond Monegal's 'Ocean Oud' (which is magnificent) and Strangelove NYC's 'SilenceTheSea' (which is very strange and compelling). In Oud Minerale, the feeling isn't wonder at the otherworldliness of the ocean, or wonder at the beauty and majesty and mystery of its expanses, it is the ennui of a solitary beach walk somewhere forbidding and oppressive. You're wearing grey, you match the sky and the environment around you, your mood is reflected in your surroundings, your chaffed lips pursed thin, your fingers stiff and cold, your feet wet and stiff. I can see why someone grieving might wear this - an ascetic and ascerbic fragrance devoid of joy that will enhance the bleak feeling of listlessness and melancholy you must endure. Joyless, loveless, but not wholly unpleasant. I hope that there are many more fragrances made which marry oud and an authentic marine note because it is a subgenre I find entirely fascinating, but this particular composition is simply too mirthless for me to really enjoy it.

joseffgabriel

Very clean aquatic oud. The oud here is so cleaned. It smells just woody. Smells like oud crystalized in block of salt crystals floating in the sea. Nothing too complex but it is straight up clean and elegant. It's smells woody aquatic perfumes. and WOW this one projects.

Stwmylos

Well...this thing is awesome if what you seek is smelling like gasoline. I cannot see though why someone would enjoy emitting such a sick smell. It is one of the worst fragrances I have tried. Perhaps there was something wrong with the batch, because otherwise all these positive reviews cannot be explained.

1/10, but I will test it again.

----Edit

So, I gave it a second chance and this time I was not overwhelmed by any gasoline-like notes. Of course it is not as bad as I previously presented it to be, something was wrong back then with the batch, obviously. However that does not mean I enjoyed it this time, I find it ...weird and strangely sweet.

Really tried to love this one. I love the smell of the ocean. But there's something in this one I don't like. Can't find a specific listed note that I don't like but I remember a woody floral note like this one in some other oceanic scents, that doesn't work for me. I think I haven't found a scent that captures the pure saltiness of ocean air. This one seems to be burying it's face too close to seaweed during an off shore breeze, with some faint smell of cigarette butts and suntan lotion that make it not the oceanic experience of choice for me.

I have a nearly full bottle for trade to anyone interested.

a86d

Well.. what can I say ? I’ll keep this short. This for me conjures up memories of an overcast, granite filled rocky beach, in the middle of winter. A bitterly cold rain coming down from the clouds. Waves crashing over seaweed covered rocks. I’ve never smelt anything quite like this. It’s the most realistic marine scent I’ve ever tried. I actually live on an island, and this is the closest I’ve ever come to a scent representing something so realistic. And I love it. I can see why some people may not like it however.

wico

There exists definitively multiple versions of this scent . One OM I bought at Douglas (according to batch number
created Dec 2017) is free from gasoline opening , match to earlier characterization here.
Before I buy this one I got sample in Austria located parfumery, and this OM was with this strong diesel/rubber
beginning which disappear within 15min. I found this in this salty/ aquatic frag. less suitable.
Drydown/longevity similar (if not the same). After all, I am happier with first one ..

Jay67

I love this juice..... the flinty & mineral marine accord is so well interpreted. Cold & steely with that seaweed saltiness you get from the sea spray on a Cornish beach on a crisp early spring morning ..... it’s superbly captured here without doubt.

It’s an odd one though; incredibly linear and outrageously long lasting, which given how ‘light’ it is, is an incredible achievement by Maisondeau. As others have mentioned, the Oud in here is a little bit synthetic but actually, it sits very nicely within this particular composition.

I do suspect though that I’ll never buy another bottle of it because as much as I like wearing it from time to time, it does get a bit......well, boring actually, just simply because of its huge longevity and linear nature. It doesn’t evolve; it doesn’t do anything but be there, just the same as when you first applied it. Don’t get me wrong; I’m really pleased I own it and I’ll always come back around to it in late spring & summer but it doesn’t excite me like others do. It kind of leaves me scratching my head a bit.... I don’t quite understand why I really love when I put it on but I do regardless! It’s almost not a fragrance..... more of an experience or an olfactory snapshot of a beach ‘moment’.

stephen.patton

One of the most unique fragrances I have ever tested!

It smells different to me on my skin to what it smells to different people on my skin! I got this slight petrol, salty smell and I was being told I smelt fresh and clean! I don't love this fragrance but I do like it! I got 3 compliments which is more than I ususally get from any fragrance so it must smell good! 7.5/10

Clutch41

This a great a scent..I highly recommend this fragrance it smells awesome! It smells like wintergreen gum mixed with gasoline rubber and Christmas tree wood..as horrible as that sounds it really works..it’s not gasoline like Dior Fahrenheit or burnt rubber in a bad way at least that’s what my nose gets..I’ve got a lot of compliments already! And this scent lasts along time..got it at a good price on a discounted site and I love it!

dan12

I ordered this on good reviews however I am disappointed I get the marine salty notes but I cant hardly smell the oud it has good longevity but the sillage is not there poor to moderate on me It kind of reminds me of grey vetiver that acquatic scent for the money I would rather but adg profumu it has a better ocean scent and the sillage is way better and its cheaper

chipon

This is by far the most unique and realistic 'marine' scent out there! Its kinda weird and alluring at the same time. If you want something different from others, get this. It's the subtle fresh oud that makes all the difference.

gedlive

This one is very unique and unusual, even for Tom Ford Private Blends.
It has a nice medicinal synthetic Oud. Reminding me of the Oud in MFK Cashmire Oud.
This is quite fresh, I was wondering if there were some citrus notes, but no. The freshness comes from the sea notes, pink pepper; the pepper wood, and even the medicinal Oud add to the freshness.
It has that rubbery band-aid smell.

I have Casta Azzurra by Tom Ford, and it is similar, but better, and just more enjoyable.

Oud Mineral is a truly niche, fresh woody, aquatic. It is kind of weird, and a bit too much synthetic notes going on, to make it wearable and enjoyable.
It reminds me of a Zoologist fragrance, or ELdO.
It is enjoyable and nice, but it is even a bit bitter.
Costa Azzurra is unique and unusual, but comes off more natural and wearable; especially for warm weather.

A great fresh Oud that is one of my top 10 fragrances is "Oud Immortel" by Byredo.

very unique, good performance for this genre, completely unisex

Skywarp

A highly underestimated release that is overlooked.
The most realistic Beach scent i've ever tried.
And by that i mean a truly Photo-realistic scenario on the beach where you can smell the sea air, sand and freshwater.
Doesn't smell like a perfume, more like a journey to the beach.

tayyabforyouth

The greatest aquatic fragrance ever made in my opinion, this fragrance smells of a very unique mix of gasoline (that's the 'oud' part) and a rainy, cold, windswept northern beach in Canada (that's the 'minerale' part). It smells like what the Iron Islands in Game of Thrones would smell like. I first tried this fragrance on a Canadian day in the winter and was immediately put off by the gasoline opening, but within 30 minutes it was radiating a wonderfully desolate, melancholy, rainy beach scent off my skin into the cold winter air. Now I'm addicted to the gasoline opening as well. Performance is stellar on all metrics as well. A veritable masterpiece by Tom Ford, though only for lovers of gasoline along with rainy desolate beaches, and perhaps an acquired taste for everyone else.

I’m not sure what to say about this. I’m somehow surprised and overwhelmed by this scent.
I tested this at the Tom Ford counter on Hong Kong airport last year and could not stand it. Had to stink of this for the next 12 hours on a plane. Perhaps it was the dry, oxygen deprived airplane air.

Some days ago I got a sample at my local TF counter and have now been wearing it for 3 days.
Wow, it is a very different unique scent. The opening is salty, anis, seaweed. A bit sweet undertone.
And on the contrary to what other say, i get a strong dominant oud tone. Deep gasoline smelling oud. For sure not the round balsamic one you get in Oud Wood or the smoky incense kind of oud.
I do not think I ever smelled real oud. Guess most commercial perfumes use the synthetic stuff. But then the oud in this case, may it be synthetic, it is very different from other commercial ouds.
Or perhaps there are some drops of real heavy oud oil here? Does anyone know?

After approx 1 hour the drydown starts and all the components get more sweet and rounded. The oud gets more sweet..

I do not really see any occasion I could wear this. Perhaps when I am all on my own? I was wearing it the office for 3 days but did not get any comments at all. And to be honest it feels like a too complex scent for the office.
But there is something very enjoyable and addictive about this odd scent but I just can not put my finger on it.

If this excisted in a 30 ml bottle I would probably get one. But it doesn‘t and I do not think I will ever use up a 50 ml bottle in the next 5 years. So I will probably pass. But I admire anyone that can wear this very original scent.

josh.moore27

I heard on a group that this one was being discontinued. If so, the private blend is loosing yet another masterpiece. This is a perfect summer evening scent. I fantasise spraying this as the sun is setting on a luxury cruise ship all suited up in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

FCM415

Lasts all day, Lasts forever on clothes. Smells nice but could tone down the calone a bit as it already has seaweed, salt, and ambergris accords.

AMajeedQT

A woody-salty fresh scent.

Like a combination of Armani's AdG Profumo's fresh saltiness & Lalique's Encre Noire's woodiness. It's smells almost like a lightly salted flanker of CdG 2 Man.

One of the safer Tom Ford releases & one of my favorite of his.

However, the scent is rather quite familiar; it is not a very unique smell.

Not fresh enough to be a summer scent nor woody enough for winter. This is a spring scent.

Overall, a decent scent from Tom Ford. Not unique enough. Not worth the price.

Like & pass.

Don't you just love when you have those "A-ha!" moments with fragrances? When you didn't like it originally, but then something clicks and you get addicted to it?

For me, that fragrance was Oud Minerale by Tom Ford.

What I originally found to be a putrid seaweed smell reminiscent of low-tide on a hot day, has turned into something I truly love. A unique blend that combines the rugged and unforgiving elements of sea with a refined woodiness creating that high level of sophistication we have become accustomed to from Tom Ford.

The oud is present and a bit rubbery, but overall it's much more of a Western interpretation of oud. Nice woods with an oceanic sea salt creates a beautiful combination of land and sea. The marine nuances of the scent never actually take you to a tropical beach on a hot day, but rather a cooler beach at night with a bonfire close by.

In my eyes, this fragrance is one of the finest that Tom Ford Private Blends has to offer, and it has pushed the boundaries of the aquatic genre in an intriguing direction. I'm giving 5/5 stars.

My5Scents

A very naturalistic interpretation of a cool and cloudy day at a bracing, windswept beach. Somewhere quite northern, certainly not California or the Mediterranean, more like Canada or Scandinavia. Included in the marine notes, there’s a dry, flinty, stony accord along with a salty sand note which must represent the allusion to minerals in the name.
It’s quite unique to me, somewhat introspective in mood and a low key affair, which in itself is quite unusual in perfumery.
Perfumery at this level truly is art.
I love it.

This is a well blended classy aquatic similar imo to bvlgari aqva. I do detect a bit of oud but it is all about the marine smell.

I asked 15 girls comparing this perfume to blue de chanel parfum , the 15 choose bleu de chanel parfum over this , it is nice fragrance with excellent longetivity but it is not a taste to get compliment ,

This really gives the sea spray smell I thought I was wanting. Unlike Bulgari Atlantique which I tried on skin too this doesn’t smell like putrid seaweed and regular aqua is all mandarin orange. The oud is definitely there and easier to detect in the opening than the dry down (until deep in).

The minerale name fits completely as it doesn’t just capture the sea I would say this captures the rocks and the wet sand on the beach too. It reminds me more of cold ocean air rather than summer holiday destinations, its closer to what the name “Blasted Heath” from Penhaligons invokes, rather than what “Costa Azzura” does.

The big negative of it however is its not versatile at all its hard to think of when you’d wear this as it truly is ocean air smell. You could wear it in summer on the beach I suppose but why bother when the actual sea air is all around you?

On top, it lasts and lasts. This is a “problem” most perfumers would envy I think and the longevity part seems to be great on all TFs I’ve tried so far. The reason I think its a negative here is it is quite a linear one and I am kind of done with it after a few hours and then it starts to annoy.

So, I probably won’t ever pick this up in full bottle form. It actually did too good a job on its creative direction and execution I think and rather than being “evocative” it is closer to “literal” which I can appreciate but it’s not what I’m after in a true aquatic personally.

A different take on Oud. Such a great success, since Oud can be very potent and heavy smelling. This is beautiful and very wearable on all seasons.

clintjr82

smells like a realistic smell of an ocean with salt, ocean minerals, and watery rocks. This is very masculine. Not a scent I would like on my my woman or any woman. Its weirdly good, That can make you say I never smell this type of marine scent before, a water scent with vitamins in it haha

Erok32

@17seyed I agree... I initially
Loved this one, but after my third wearing, it made me nauseous. Although linear, iit smells very complex. It’s also very masculine and appealing. However, there is something in here which makes my stomache churn.

clintjr82

This is a scent that sets a new standard for marine scents in 2018. Its different and more unique because, it doesn't use citruses or flowers like most aquatics. This is like the refined very masculine new way of doing water scents. The performance is good as far as longevity, sillage is mid-range. Is it worth buying, yeh if you have the $230 or so to shell out. If not buy Bvlgari Aqva its cheaper, but done very well.

Like a more expensive but less impressive Body Kouros.

Less depth than the shallowest tidal pool, and evaporates even faster.

Tom Ford's line of expensive skin scents really brings out the bitch in me!

Spent many hours at my local stockist for TF scents, tried almost half their line up and settled on this as my first ever TF. It's gorgeously subtle but still noticeable and present. Sillage isn't massive but longevity is super decent. I often struggle with summery scents as a lot of them have citrus notes that don't sit well on me. It's definitely a frag for warmer weather/daytime. The biggest selling point for me is its a totally unique scent, rugged yet sophisticated, it's got a driftwood, cold stone, oceanic sort of vibe like a cold beach in Europe which is very different from the rest of my lineup and the scents my friends wear. I absolutely love it, makes my soul happy

Its Very Masculine for sure. I don't see a woman pulling this one off, not happening. It a nice fresh take on the marine genre. Its different as a scent, but I wouldnt' say too unique. It projects and has sillage. Its smells like sea rocks with a fresh breeze off the water, that smell you get when your on the peer, in a good way though. This is versatile. I think the original Bvlgari aqva is better though

I have found my signature scent. !!! I would have never tried this, but a fellow frag friend on here, butterbean, has suggested some gorgeous beachy amazing stand-out scents and this in in her top five so I snagged a sample yesterday.
When I tried it this afternoon, it brought me back to an old high school favorite- Aramis New West!
OM is more masculine and complex, but sometimes the wafts in the air I get have that same sweet but different scent NW had.
OM is the exotic, alluring, clean but also salty lived-in skin-but better, sexy signature worthy scent I have been looking for.
I have tested SO many scents, searching...
This will be perfect for something special and unique, but that I can wear everyday in Hawaii’s warmth.
It’s not the roll your eyes back floral type (I also love) stunner- but I can’t stop sniffing my wrist and am LOVING the way this dries, and LIVES, on the skin. BLOWN AWAY. So good. So happy!

scentitar

unique, intriguing, origanol, not many fragrances can say that and even fewer can who are masterpieces

This is distinctive, understated, elegant and simply well done.

It smells of high quality concrete, mineral spirits, carbonated water, and glass in a complex and harmonious blend.

I get 5 or so hours longevity and fair to poor projection, but when you are refined, seductive and mysterious you don't need to be loud.

I hope to afford soon

Heifrank

I feel that this is a trend setter, taking things in another direction. It therefor may seem a bit strange at first, but after my third wearing I love it. It give a very pleasant cloud around you. The ingrediences seem to be good quality. Its quite subtle and transperent, which I like. Very natural, oceanic feeling.

Wife loves this one, I dropped my sample in the closet spilled everywhere, the wife came to me a couple of days later and said the closet smells so good, then she said the toilet paper smells really good too! Now my families ass smells like oud minerale lol. Its really really good, i get a light woody fresh scent..

monkey500

I have Oud Wood and I like it very much for colder weather but Oud Mineral is a very different beast: lots of sea salt backed up with heat from pink pepper that is heavy yet fresh enough for warmer days.... I can smell woody notes right at the back of the room yet any Oud is overshadowed by the power of sea salt and pink pepper.

Good longevity and still present the next day.

Corrida

Initial wearing: salty, arid, a little woodiess thrown into the mix, but definitely a departure from the TF ouds in the private line...

...too bad this affects performance as well, which is influenced by body chem and weather, too, but I need to reapply all day long. No, it is not anosmia. I sampled Costa Azurra the same moment on the back of my hand, 2 heavy sprays lasted a good 5-6 hours.

The price point (EUR 150-160) cries for better performance, this is probably the only reason why I probably will not buy it again. Apart from this issue, the juice is magical, and could have been in my all time top 5 favorites. Give it a go, maybe you get luckier than me, but sample it first to see how it works for you.

cufberte.daniem

This one is just really, really lovely. Salty fresh sea air and a bizarre oud. Cedarwood to my nose as well. Transports you to a made up location ... just strangely beautiful. Never thought the two would mix well but here we are.

wesleyhclark

Wow - a Tom Ford scent with poor longevity and projection (at least on me). That's unusual.

The name had me hoping for a good agarwood scent, but this is really a somewhat wifty marine scent. It's a bit like smelling a piece of driftwood that washed up on the beach. It's not bad, but it's not really successful, either. It's too subtle to have any "wow factor," and it's not different enough from the usual collection of marine scents to convince me.

Oceanics aren't a big deal for me, and I really haven't found one I like better than Outremer Oceane.

I pass.

anthonytaykk

This unusual scent conveys gentle, cool breezes from the Mediterranean Sea, with a tinge of salty freshness, and an oud that is not overpowering or medicinal. It does not have the freshness of citrus notes, at least not to my nose, but rather freshness conveyed by its seaweed note, which is in itself unusual compared to many other scents even on the niche market.

This is not a scent for glamourous dinners or dates I would think. It has a casual air to it, for the after-dinner walks (preferably by the beach of course, to realize the fantasy that is the perfume), with a particular affinity for the heat of summer, which would amplify the moderate sillage of this scent.

Grab a bottle, and get out there in Nature. Otherwise, you bring a piece of the sea home in this bottle, which works just as well.
