Initially I just got sweet powder. As it warms up on your skin I start getting this dusty dark chocolate. I get some dry cedar in the back . It’s sweet with this powdery vanilla. More powdery than I expected. I don’t pick up on the florals

Shanty36

This smells divine, but it does not last whatsoever on my skin and has zero projection. I gave it a 4 for the abysmal performance but man, does it smell like candied flowers and dark chocolate. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Too bad.

Løpasdfkdf

If you like vanille perfums and you like orchid can be this perfum something for you. Perfect for layering if you want to make more potent another vanille based perfum or floral perfum. Nothing wao but its nice.

Bibi16

This is the fragrance that made realise I was not into chocolate fragrances no matter how hard I tried. My stomach could not handle it, smelt great in store. The chocolate must be very toned for me to like it, sadly this did not work for me.

Opens very alcoholic, then smells like a cup of warm cacao with unsweetened vanilla cream with extra dusted powder on top

I saw Nicoles comment about all of Van Cleef & Arpels fragnances beinf discontinued and couldn’t find any information anywhere that made that fact any stronger.

So I emailed the company on my own and got this respond:
Dear Ms Henrysson,

Thank you for your message and your interest in Van Cleef & Arpels.

In response to your inquiry, we have the pleasure to confirm that our fragrances are still part of our offer and we won't stop their production.

Should you have any questions or require any additional information please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Initial blast is full of alcohol as many have already mentioned. You have to wait for the drydown to really appreciate this scent.
It’s cacao dust mixed with an orange note basically.
Very gourmand. I don’t get much of the florals on me, just a slight touch of that woody note, cedar.
It’s very pleasing, easy to like that’s why it’s one of the bestsellers of the Extraordinaire Line.
Projection is minimal, it’s a skin scent.
Longevity I’d say depends on your bottle.
I acquired an older bottle, the liquid has darkened a bit and I find it performs way better than my first (brand new) bottle that I ended up swapping.

Marina.Klr

I love the minimal and elegant bottle design of the collection. The scent is very powdery on the dry down and overall a soft, sensual cacao smell. It feels like cacao mixed with a sweet, warm tender, orange note. It’s like a Christmas cookie, but mature and subtle - and when it dries down, I can smell something like bitter coffee. It’s Very close-wearing and distinctive! To be honest I expected it to be more juicy and interesting. It’s a little bit innocent and boring - And for what is offered, I think it’s pricey.

zawwarahmad

Forgot to write notes on this fragrance but overall it wasnt something spectacular that I would come back to from my other fragrances. Poor longevity and sillage on my skin. 7/10.

I have a travel-size sprayer of Orchidée Vanille, not a full-size bottle, but I love its unusual cocoa-laced vanilla fragrance enough that I bought an Oil Perfumery dupe of it to extend the sprays a bit. The OP version is remarkably close, although it performs differently, being an oil--it lasts a lot longer, but it's more linear than the alcohol-based original fragrance is, and consequently perhaps a bit less complex. That said, I'm not sure I would be able to tell them apart during the drydown in a blind sniff test. If Orchidée Vanille has a flaw, it's that it wears very close to the skin. It's not likely to offend others because it's not likely even to register as a fragrance to others--it's quite subtle for a floral vanilla. It's not entirely dissimilar to Dior Addict, only with the volume turned down from eleven to perhaps four, and that's if you're an oversprayer. I like to layer the spray over a bit of the OP "impression" to improve the performance and not use up what remains in my decant with a few wearings. I changed my grade of this from a like to a love and then back to a like because as much as I love this fragrance, I require a bit more assertiveness in my perfumes. I'm not saying it ought to project like Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant or even like pre-reformulation Dior Addict, but I do think Orchidée Vanille would have a higher ranking than even its impressive 4.27 if it sang a little more loudly. To quote the late genius Scott Miller of Game Theory, "I've tried subtlety before/And I will not anymore."

Update: Just read from another reviewer below, who called the company, that this and all the other fragrances in this line are being discontinued. Pick up the Oil Perfumery dupe if you can't find the real thing--or even if you can. It's remarkably accurate, and it wears better.

AG2330

I tried to love this fragrance, but i couldn't get past the cocoa note. I am not a fan of chocolate-heavy fragrances, i don't recommend anyone blind buying this bottle if you can't stand chocolate.
I was expecting a light chocolate note but the fragrance caries the cocoa throughout the opening and dry down. I couldnt get past that note. Otherwise, it's a well-blended sweet vanilla cake scent. Long lasting and sits close to your skin.

nyx9

Its mix of powdered notes, chocolate and mandarin peel embodies the essence of femininity with every sniff.

The scent begins with a tantalizing note of chocolate, reminiscent of the frosting atop a freshly baked vanilla sponge cake. This initial impression sets the stage for a captivating blend of candied orange and violets, delicately dipped in chocolate.
Despite its subtle projection, it lingers on the skin throughout the day, and it proved to have a better performance than I expected.

It's subtle, and worth spraying a lot. It's such an alluring scent for any occasion, and it's a great balance of freshness and warmth.
This perfume is a true delight for the cold season or early spring, and I find it perfect for a comforting embrace on a chilly winter day.

EDIT: I was having a hard time finding a second bottle so I emailed Van Cleef and Arpels and they replied on Jan 29, 2024 and said "as of now all of our fragrances have been permanently discontinued." So if you like this one, find a back up bottle.

This is a fabulous every day wearable vanilla gourmand with a super nice powdery chocolate note and a little soft floral in the back to keep it perfumy. It doesn’t last forever since it’s a bit of a soft scent but I love catching whiffs on my sweater. I blind bought this with zero regrets. This has become a super easy reach scent for me and it’s an absolute love!

ioanaszmeu

This smells like a sugar powdered vanilla cake, in the best way possible. This cake also has almonds and chocolate inside, orange peels, and is also drenched in rose water. It is also decorated with violets.
Absolutely addictive well made gourmand.

Kellergirl

Awful. Smells like a cheap floral body spray. I don't detect any vanilla.

Lulu04

This to me smells like lemon cream wafers in the opening then classic vanilla wafers.. I like it a lot.

However, it’s so faint.. from the bottle, I can’t smell anything and on my skin I need to sniff it very closely to get something.

I will say I do get whiffs of it throughout the day so I’m gonna let it sit for a while and see if performance improves a bit..

taropetal

vanillic baby doll heads dusted with cocoa. shoving my nose into my skin and still hardly any projection.

ETA - The sillage is more prominent in this one than actual projection. It creates beautiful wafts of marshmallow as you pass by.

amgenus2015

This fragrance is exquisite. On me, it is a perfect crowd pleaser that I could wear to work without worrying that it feels offensive. It reminds me of being wrapped in a warm cashmere blanket. And having a nice weight on your body. There are soft floral and even softer fruity elements but they don’t fight for attention. They just brighten up the warm tones of the scent so that it leans more feminine. I think a man could still easily pull this off, but there is a beautiful lightness that makes me feel like a woman when I wear this.

Clws

@Trunte1234 I had the same issue. It took mine a good 6 months to smell like the one I tested in Niemans. I think it has to do with aging, this line has a high percentage of natural oils (lol, well, what the industry calls a "High" percentage anyway) and I guess it needs some warm up time. If I could have returned mine I would have, seriously, but I'd opened and sprayed, so no return for me. I'm happy with it now. In no way is it a room filler but at least I can enjoy my own scent bubble. It is a lovely perfume, just wish you could enjoy it right out of the box, especially when you pay full retail. Hope you have the same experience and it "warms up" for you.

Trunte1234

I smelled it in store and felt in love. But the one I bought I cant smell anything at all

noobirob_br

This is my best vanilla scent in this year
A vanilla ice cream, white musk and a little bit of florals with chocolate in the end
Not overwhelming. The projection and silage is moderate. This one kinda safe scent for daily use

peergynt

one of the most gorgeous vanilla fragrances out there if you are into a sweet type of vanilla. start with very lactonic, milky vanilla and sit with more floral vanilla. Definitely sweet and definitely lean to the feminine side. It is a quite muted and weak sillage perfume.
Should I trust my olfactory memory, I am not sure but this reminded me canto mirable which I tested 10 ml decant years and years ago and loved.
If it was louder and had better longevity, I am sure it could be a signature scent for too many people.

LSAUG

For me this perfume starts off with a strong chocolate. Like a really rich and thick hot chocolate. As it goes along I get more of the vanilla, vanilla orchid and candied violets blending with the chocolate. Then creamy fruits come in. They are not juicy but they have been cooked with cream and sugar. This is a very sweet and creamy gourmand perfume with very little to do with flowers. It smells exactly as I expected. Creamy warm and edible. But with a sophisticated polish. Good casual date night scent. Most men love edible perfumes and this is a good one.

Edit: to describe this perfume best I would say this... Imaginary sugar coated flowers stewed fruits soaked in vanilla and chocolate cream. This was the one I was least excited to test it is one of my favorite in the line now. Go figure.

Dark_Venus

Hmm I'm still deciding whether to like this or not. I can smell the vanilla strongly, which is great. And a bit of the orange. In the dry down I can definitely get chocolate notes which I love as well. The only thing is that there is this kind of "gasoline" note in there and that's one of the reasons it kinda reminds me of vanilla woods in a way (b/c I also smelled that same gasoliney smell in VW). Idk, I'm still giving it a chance and see how I like it over time. Everything else is lovely minus that strange note in there. I'll change the review if I end up liking it. Also the price for a full size bottle is bananas for this kind of fragrance. It should be no more than $80. It doesn't smell that luxurious to me.

mid-Novermber 2023 Update: I started layering with my favorite vanilla (Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere) and they smell pretty yummy together... Also I've layered it with Giorgio Armani Ocean di Gioia and sometimes Acqua di Gioia (I know, odd combos) but it smells divine, especially with Ocean. These combos drown out the strange gasoline note lol and I don't detect it anymore. It works well with Cheirosa 62 as well. For me anyway!

12/6/2023 Updating once again, for the last time: My "like" for this fragrance has turned into "love". The one note I was previously describing as "gasoliny" is no longer that to me the longer I have worn this and explored the scent. I'm not sure if it was the need for the fragrance to macerate, but that note I once thought of as strange, I believe is the crossing between the citrus and the orange with the floral in between there and as I've discovered the mixture of those specific notes and have been able to identify them properly, I find them well-blended and actually delicious, like the scent of those yummy dark chocolate orange peel candy bars. I think this with the fact that the scent macerated over time has made the notes yummier. I completely change my mind from my initial review. This fragrance has become a keeper.

Varsta

It's such a lovely scent! I'm not a big fan of floral notes, tbh. I'm addict to gourmand fragrances, and Orchidee vanille is a floral-gourmand, decadent but not heavy, wearable at office kinda work places imo

abolin

To me this smells like the scented "little pony" dolls I had as a child and it transports me back to the smells of the toys of a childhood in the 80ies and had me Google those pony dolls to see if they still existed.
That was definitely a positive impression, like a happy memory. And it doesn't make the scent any less elegant. It is not very loud, but also more than a scone scent. I have a couple of scents that fall into a similar category, perfect for every day, immediately making you feel really polished and refined. I can see getting this to become part of my collection.

kwisdommeister

BLIND BOUGHT: I have just received this in the mail, and it is predominantly Flower and orange so far, it's been 30 minutes since the initial spritz, and it is powdery flower and orange, of course there is some of the vanilla too, but I don't see this as a gourmand. Would also like to point out that there is no musk in this perfume, so don't know what the others are smelling, who marked musk, people there isn't even musk in this at all. I am waiting for this to turn into vanilla chocolate on me as promised by so many reviews, and normally everything pulls sweeter on me, but not this time, not yet. It is still powdery flower and orange. Also, zero projection, even after the initial spritz it is a skin scent on me, which I don't mind tbh. Strong perfumes are nauseating for me, it is enough if I can smell it throughout the day or people close to me.

Surprisingly linear I have to say, compared to having the three different layers of notes, they nicely blend into a soft lightly sweet floral scent, very delicate.

Alright, so this does not project well, okay, but I do smell the scent on my skin the next day, and it is only then that is smells like milk chocolate. Finally, I get to smell some of that chocolate too.

So about an hour in, I just notice myself keep wanting to smell my wrist where I sprayed this. I already know this is a good sign, it is growing on me. However, it is still delicate powdery flowers, maybe some kind of fabric softener.
Almost two hours since I put it on, still very powdery natural vanilla and flowers, but there is just something about it, I have never smelled before, it is very pleasant. Cannot pin point what it reminds me of, but it is definitely something special, it is just so nice, so pleasant, easy to wear. yeah that is it, it is so easy to wear.

TWO hours in, I think the Vanilla is hitting hard, I also think this is the unidentifiable note I was trying to name previously, but couldn't. Probably, because it is cleverly disguised under flowers, it just hits different. When I rest my hands in my lap, I can smell the perfume very well (sprayed on my wrists before), so I think the projection is good enough on me for me.No chocolate on me during the day.

The next day I can still smell this on my pullover and it does smell like milk chocolate. So final verdict is that this smells of light, sweet, flowers, and is a skin scent. If you like these traits you’ll love it.

Elissa40

This is a very beautiful Soft Vanilla. The combination of the chocolate, vanilla, mandarin orange reminds me of a sophisticated Dessert at a restaurant. Like orange cake with a chocolate wedge on top , dusted with powdered sugar. My original sample was weak in longevity & didn’t last long on my skin but when I purchased my bottle of this that has had time to sit it lasts much longer on my skin. It’s still a very close to the skin scent. Glad I have this elegant smelling beauty in my collection.

LanaDelSlay

Everything I wanted Shalimar to be. Soft vanilla powder. Not nauseating syrup vanilla extract vibe. It’s so warm and cozy yet airy. People can smell you but it’s tame

perfectly_pink

A sophisticated vanilla fragrance that is wearable for daily wear. It smells soft, sweet and has a lightness to it. I smell the vanilla and orange, the sweetness and powder of chocolate and a fruitiness which I assume comes from the lychee all the other notes are beautifully balanced to amplify the vanilla. It does have just the tiniest bit of smokiness and a little depth again just to balance the fragrance.I believe this is a quality perfume and it does have longevity, however it is a soft fragrance that doesn’t project too much. Great for a vanilla lover that likes a sophisticated fragrance that is still light and easy to wear everyday. I reach for this a lot since owning. Really like it.

ScentedAway

Sorry I can't smell anything beyond an exquisite gourmet Vanilla Coke. Great if you like it.

VanillaBubbleBunny

This frangrance is very subtle. I have quite a lot of vanilla fragrances. So I compared my fav simple vanilla “vanille” by Fragonard EDT. I had to spray 3 times on one arm to get the frangrance to be just as strong as my Fragonard one. It is very weak. BUT it has a lot more depth than most of my vanilla fragrances, I can smell a sweet and warm vanilla and a hint of wood mainly but the floral notes also come through subtly. It’s nice. I think I’d like to buy a bigger decant to really test if it’s worth the price given how weak it is.

pinkfairygumdrop

I LOVE this scent but the lasting power sucks!
If you want something that smells good and actually lasts, try the oil roll on from OIL PERFUMERY, its great, cost me 20 bucks but those lil 10 ML roll-ons last forever and the oil actually has sillage and you can smell it hours later
if you want a good long lasting scent try the oil, it blows the EDP away....

JustAsh

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really nice scent. The orange is strong in the opening, then you get chocolate and vanilla. It’s a combination that I never really thought would work but it does beautifully. I don’t really get the floral notes. I find it to be warm and cozy…think of an airy, light vanilla cake made with orange zest thrown in for a citrus twist and dusted with chocolate. Great for fall and winter. Is it groundbreaking? No. A statement maker? No. But its truly a good, comforting vanilla. It’s such a shame that as nice as it is…Orchidee Vanille is nothing more than scented water. Its so light that it does not last or project AT ALL. In about an hour, you will have to put your nose to your skin to smell it. I know a lot of people dislike oversprayers but you have no choice but to spray the hell out of this in order to get any type of performance. Spray your skin, spray your clothes, your hair (if that’s what you do) that’s the only way. Charging $250 for this should be a crime. Bath and Body Works body mists last and project better. You can find this at discounters for around $100 and even that’s too much. We need an extrait version!

FabricatedFashion

This is my absolute favourite vanilla perfume. Soft sexy and unbelievably beautiful light sugary vanilla. It lasts over 6 hours on my skin.

Helloneighbor

Beautiful dessert-like vanilla but still manages to be light and doesn’t feel heavy at all. It’s much more refined than kayali vanilla 28, which I also have that I use for layering with other perfumes. This one is too beautiful to layer with anything

Pernillaw

When i first tried it in a store it was love at first sniff. It was this soft beautiful vanilla. But then i bought a decant and the top and middle note was sooo very powdery, and almost a lipstick kind of smell. The dry down is the same beautiful vanilla but the middle note lasts forever on me. I guess i just have to use the decant but not sure is fb-worthy.

Lauren387

For me, this is a warm vanilla cake right from the oven, with a dollop of fluffy egg-white whipped cream infused with a dash of Gran Marnier on top
. What a beautiful dessert, you want to savor it, but the modest portion makes you want more.

This is quite decadent but not heavy. It stays close to the skin and wears for many hours, though it doesn’t project loudly. If it was louder, maybe it would be cloying. As it dries, the woody notes appear but they do not overpower the softness. Well balanced and enjoyable but not lasting.

MsFCAS

I’m a floral/citrus/skin scent lover so wearing an amber is a big deal for me. I mean, the description above says Floral, so maybe this is an ambery/vanilla-y floral, but it’s not my usual light fleeting floral affair.

This has beautiful base notes that come out not too long after the top notes disappear never to return. I get vanilla and tonka mostly. Quite an enjoyable winter evening scent for me. I’m looking forward to wearing it then.

Spirakel

While I can certainly understand that this is a popular fragrance, Orchidee Vanille is an underwhelming experience on my skin.
To me, the opening is strong, artificial vanilla flavouring for cakes, reminiscent of the vanillin/ vanilla sugar my grandmother used when baking. It also reminds me slightly of baby powder and wipes. Which, while it doesn't smell bad, is not how I want to smell. I also detect that artificial fruit scent in the background. I sense something floral as well, and later, close to dry down, a faint rose. Actually, as the Barbie movie is now so popular, this perfume is what I think maybe Barbie would have loved :)
I think sillage is decent on me, and longevity too.

cdcs

Cute, light, beautiful vanilla. I love the powdered chocolate note, even though usually I hate chocolate (or gourmands other than vanilla, for that matter)
But regardless of how good it is, it's not something that matches my usual vibe, so I don't see myself reaching for this enough to excuse the expensive pricetag where I live, and the lack of longevity certainly doesn't help.
If I ever get to see this on about half price it's going around here, I'd consider, but not fbw for now, for me. Definitely would recommend for someone that enjoys more closer to the skin sillage and doesn't mind applying the fragrance again throughout the day, or that gets tired of wearing the same scent for too many hours.
But whenever I wore this and people got close enough for hugs I got compliments, so very likable.

abc1111

Sweet, soft, pleasant. I get orange, vanilla, and chocolate. At first I thought it fades really fast but longevity is actually good. I can smell it on clothes a day after. It just doesn’t project much.

rrimr_

The best vanilla! it beats any others I’ve tried. It smells very delectable, not too complicated. It has an intimate sillage which I like. soft vibes

bunnidewy

I was a bit disappointed by Orchidee Vanille at first because I was expecting a more rich vanilla scent and a more prominent cocoa note but instead, I got a soft and floral vanilla that's lightly dusted with hot chocolate powder. It smells kind of like a tube of MAC lipstick. I was also disappointed by its poor sillage the first time I tried it. After trying it again and letting go of the expectations I had, I am appreciating this fragrance a lot more. It's an addictive and comforting scent that is not overwhelmingly sweet. It's an understated fragrance that is suitable for all ages, all seasons, and all occasions. Also, the sillage is not as bad as I thought and the longevity is actually decent but I have to use more sprays than I usually do with other fragrances.

A Little Perfume

Orchidee Vanille has really grown on me over time. I bought it blind and when I first received the bottle I was a little disappointed - it's a very soft scent, a milk chocolate powder and vanilla with a hint of tonka. Simple, uncomplicated yet also smooth, comforting, powdery, and gently sweet. Almost no projection. It's lovely, but I had expected something a little more... everything.

Yet in time it's the gentle, soothing nature that draws me to wear Orchidee Vanille. I reach for it after a bath or shower, at night, when I want to be cozy. I wear it on lazy weekend days, where I want to feel deliciously relaxed. I wear it when I have nothing but time and nowhere to be, because this is the perfect scent for slow moving, simple days. It totally has a place in my collection, even though it's not the original place I thought it would occupy.

AlaskanAngel

I SHOULD LOVE THIS,
WHY
CAN'T
I
SMELL
ANYTHING?!?!

All I can get is like the memory of a vanilla lotion. It's literally a skin scent after the spritz dries. This isn't a bad sample or decant, I bought a full bottle.

Nichole FZA

So I have this for over a year now, I love this perfume, it smells nice just like the other reviewers mentioned just that it doesn't project well on me, it's kinda fleeting and more to skin scent.

be555a

One of the most delectable clouds of perfume I experienced... Mesmerizingly strong on my skin. Probably the best straight vanilla I came across, and one of the best gourmands. Absolutely, Van Cleef & Arpels accentuates and redefines the gourmand. A baked dream, a devourable scent.

Sapienta

managed to present vanilla in its most mature charming state.
Vanilla is usually loudmouth and young, but this is less words vanilla. More slow dance with flowers.
Amazing! Lasts forever on my skin

mariae9

I've only worn this in fall and winter so far, which is great and feels very cosy. Today is the first time I'm trying it in warm weather and it is perfection. To me, the woody vanilla smells exactly like you're lying on a wooden dock that has been warmed by the sun, very nostalgic. Will definitely use this a lot this summer!

emaltic

despite its horrible performance this perfume is the love of my life.

Jennswen

Orchidee Vanille
I have been wearing this for a week, and today a waitress complemented me on this and actually asked for the name, so I'm thinking it might be a real complement if you know what I mean. This scent is so light I can barely detect it during the day, so I spay a lot on! Then it is so close to the skin...or so I thought. My boyfriend says it's perfect! ...Not overwhelming, and people can smell it on me more than I.
Maybe this is a good thing...you can spray a lot without fear of choking anyone ( I like to spray 😉 ) . I smell it on my clothes the next day. There is nothing synthetic about this perfume. Do they use natural products? ....And is that why it is so non obtrusive? Some people say it gets better with age. Im looking forward to that! Anyway... this is a love!

AnneKirby

Warm and sweet vanilla with some orange and almond in the back, complimented with orchid at its heart. Linear unisex fragrance that sits very close to your skin, and very mediocre longevity for the price, so only worth it if you buy it with a discount. The bottle is gorgeous but I wish the juice had better performance. It gave off a slight gasoline vibe for the first few sprays, but that eventually disappeared after a few wears. I'm unfortunately parting ways with this one since I have other vanillas that I prefer to this one and I try to only keep perfumes that I will wear, but overall it's a really nice and comforting scent and best for bedtime and colder months but it won't make you stand out or get you compliments

Shaina87

I'm testing this today from my bottle that I just bought last week. It's my 3rd fragrance from the Extraordinaire line (Ambre Imperial, Bois d'Iris & now Orchidee Vanille). And they all have the same DNA... like if I smelled these blindly, I'd be able to tell that they're VCA.
Vanille Orchidee is really lovely. A soft vanilla and powdery chocolate with almond, tonka and a hint of spiciness. Performance-wise, it sits VERYA close to the skin and longevity is only a couple hours before it's a skin scent. So I'm hoping that after macerating for a couple months that it'll perform better and be less fleeting. But I love this one as a bedtime fragrance. I will also be using it a lot for layering. And I think this can be worn throughout the year since it's so soft and delicate.

Kim Milan

Orchidee vanilla, you have to let this sit so you can get the trueness of this fragrance.

Plom

Warm and lovely. Bought a bottle and was so disappointed that it was so weak. BUT I let it sit for a few months, and it got so much better! A little deeper and super long lasting.

ohsnapamb

When I first began collecting fragrance and searching for that perfect vanilla I purchased this one a couple years ago. I found it to be a perfectly balanced vanilla with a dusting of chocolate and almond. It’s not the average sickly sweet straight forward vanilla. As I continued to grow my collection and continue to sample vanilla scents I neglected this one. Everytime I come back to it I’m always wowed by it. I think it’s the most sophisticated and calming vanilla scent in my collection. I also don’t think the performance is lacking. Whenever I wear it someone will compliment it. I truly think this is worth all the hype in the fragrance world and I hope to forever have it in my collection.

Lara_540

This lasts forever. The scent may seem quite basic vanilla, but you can never go wrong with this perfume. Although there are other vanilla perfumes which may be better in the market and cheaper, this perfume is attractive, it radiates warmth, sweetness and confident energy. When a person goes in for a hug or greet, they will definitely notice this scent. Truly gorgeous.

Yalamddd

This is so pretty! I had posted about recs for a sweet scent for coworkers who hate vanilla & this was mentioned multiple times. It's super faint on me (though I'll need to smell it in the morning to confirm) but it's very nice, sweet, and light vanilla. I got a decant as I gave with most of my perfumes but this is totally a safe blind buy if you dig soft vanilla

ANGELICA07

So strange ....

I already reviewed this perfume a few years ago but I kept a sense of interrogation.

A few months ago, passing by a perfume shop in the city center, where they sell this collection of Hermes, I decided to give it an other try : the lady sprayed it twice on my wrist. I kept it the whole afternoon : it was nice but still I couldn't decide whether it was for me or not. Surprisingly, I caught myselgf sniffing the wirst of my jacket because the perfume also settled there and it was so good : almost confectionary vanilla, as I love it. And we went on like this for a few weeks.

Therefore I decided to do the ultimate test, that's to say to test it on me, in my neck, as I wear my perfumes.
I took advantage to be in a place where I found it in a perfume store last week to spray it abundantly (5 sprays) in my neck.
So strange : I couldn't find back the vanilla : very plesant elegant perfume, very "perfumey", whick I liked, but the vanilla kept hidden under a whole bunch of orchid. Very very floral vanilla. I came back home, changed my clothes, did what I needed to do in the evening, hoping for the sweet vanilla that was left on my jacket to come out (I also hoped to get that almond note I smelled on a friend who wore it but I neither didn't get it). But no, it didn't. Surprisingly enough, my mother, who hates vanilla and hated it when I tested it on my wirst a few months ago, couldn't also detect vanilla. Surprisingly enough, while I blamed it to be too weak, this time is was very present, almost overwhelming. I went to bed but I had to get up during the night to wash my neck with soap and change my tee-shirt because I couldn't bear it anymore : sweet orchid yes but I still keep searching for the vanilla right now .... I had to leave the jacket I was wearing last week three days hanging outside to get a bit rid of the smell and I even had to change my pillow holder ....

Consequently, considering that very strange and finally not that pleasant experiment, I have just changed my vote here from "like :-)" to "ok :-/" and I think I'm done with you, "Orchidée Vanille" ....

Xela_529

One of my favorite vanillas of all time. She sits close to the skin but I don’t mind. This blend is remarkable and classic. 10/10

KashaxStella

I used to adore this as it used to smell sweet on me. After 2.5 years I suddenly became allergic to it (headaches and cannot stand it) and it no longer smells sweet, but powdery. What a pity, because I used to get loads of compliments, summer or winter. Fantastic projection and longevity.

I have a bottle with about 10 mL left in it if anyone would like it.

Charllife

I don’t know whether my sample is bad, but I get a strong burst of alcohol which follows the whole dry down and I’m unable to discern the individual notes

rangela71

This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I ever wore. Just like the name suggests, vannilley-orchideey scent. Perfect, no funny opening, no strange drydown, simply beautiful the whole composition. I do not pick up any citrus notes. Pleasant, sweet and decent from the first moment. A mature scent. In the drydown a slight woody note comes forward.
A huge disappointment is, that you only can enjoy its beauty for 2 hours. In the third hour becomes a skin scent, and at the 5 hours mark it completely disappears. If you are a 35+ gourmand lover, and don’t mind reapplying it a couple of times during the day, then go for it.

Kim Milan

Well Orchidee Vanille were do I start!! This fragrance it the best vanilla by far IMO it is so warm, cosy, Subtle and LUSHHHH I just cannot live without. At first initial spray I got a light scented vanilla from it, I also became nose blind to this for a few weeks so I left it to macerate for almost 2 months, and after going back to it now oh my goshhh this scent is heavenly I cannot believe how much stronger this has gotten, the silage and projection is amazingly gorgeous and it’s sooo yummyyyyy!!! Wayyyy better than when I first tried it. With orchidee vanille you gotta leave it for a while and the true scent reveals its self. And to think I almost gotten rid of this beauty🥺🥰🥹😍😍

I got about 8 hours with this Layered with Kayali Vanilla 28 and choco musk it’ll last so much longer the scents together is so Devine.

6yshaa

It's such a pretty scent. At first it smells like fresh oranges (the opening is quite unsettling) then it dries down to a beautiful chocolate, almond and vanilla perfume. This is a hug in a bottle, it's cosy, not overly sweet and warm.
At first, I was scared bc a lot of people were saying the longevity and the projection were mediocre but on my skin it projects so well and the longevity is great. It's definitely not a beast mode perfume, but it's pretty good.
I usually hate sweet perfumes but I think that it is the kind of scent that would please anybody.

Tilds

This perfume was so weird straight out of the bottle. The initial spray didn’t smell like alcohol but rather like the perfume was mixed in a base of gasoline. This only lasted until the perfume had dried down on the skin and then a very warm vanilla scent came through. Overall pretty, feminine, simple but rather elegant, doesn’t last long unfortunately. This does come close to the perfect simple vanilla perfume for me, but it’s just that at the end of the day, well blended without being extraordinary.

Shmea106

Beautiful scent but so light you literally have to put your nose onto your skin to smell it.

Marinka71

Hey y'all. I tried this twice, both times I experienced the same: even though I spray generously on my wrist, the scent dissappears into thin air in no time, and is not even skin scent, extremely weak on me.
The scent itself comes off as lightly floral, with even lighter side notes that come across as faintly gourmand hints.
No distinct vanilla or chocolate as I hoped.
Potentially pleasant, yet definitely fails to deliver the wow.
I wanted to like this, but it doesn't work on my skin at all.
So a no from me.

Meowmeo

It is a chocolate powder with vanilla. Very soft, tender, close to the skin. Smells like a hug.

LaMiaRosa

I like this but I don't think it's complex enough, nor does it perform well enough, to justify a purchase for me. I was looking forward to trying this for a while but I'm a little disappointed.

I may need to test it a few more times to confirm, but on my skin there is no chocolate. It's a citrusy vanilla with a bit of violet and musk. If you're looking for a non-perfumey perfume that is not cloying and will not overwhelm you or anyone else, this could be an option for you. Quite expensive for that purpose though.

It's a very soft and clean interpretation of vanilla (on my skin). Would be a good scent to spray fresh out of the shower or before bed in particular. This is definitely a skin scent for me. I think it's a safe blind buy if you collect vanillas, but I don't find it particularly unique, so I'm sure you could find an inexpensive alternative and get the same effect.

mrjohn12

A loyal vanilla with chocolate undertones, so creamy that it floats on the warmth of my skin. - a glow of soft comfort. This collection exudes quality and timelessness.

Acarin

Kayali Vanilla 28 going into Billie Eilish Eilish perfume. Sugary warm vanilla

laukin911

Reminds me of the powder on zebra gum from the 90s! Love

JoyousOne

This is okay but it you want massive vanilla, this wasnt it. I wanted once in a lifetime vanilla like in Fenty. I wanted vanilla overload like with Dior's Hypnotic Poison & Poison Girl. I wanted vanilla like in Alien Goddess. I wanted vanilla like Jo Malone Scarlett Poppy. Give me super sweet vanilla like my favorite in Prada OG Candy. I can do even a deep mature vanilla like in the new YSL Libre Le Parfum or their old Libre Intense. This was a 2/10 on the vanilla scale.

kristylynn

Gosh I really really like this one, very interesting and sits apart from many other vanilla fragrances with its floral undertones. However, I don't think I would purchase a full bottle, its just a bit too light to justify the price tag. Maybe one day, but I have so many other fragrances on my wish list.

fairymeist

This has to be the softest less projecting perfume I own, it is just way too soft for the price. The smell is beautiful but it's like wearing nothing.

Smells almost identical to Eau Duelle edp but with sweet vanilla, which I also own.

Very disappointing

Sniffathon

Strangely, I can barely smell anything. With a generous spray on my arm, I had to smoosh my nose into my skin to get the slightest hint of vanilla-tinged pencil shavings and chocolate. After some time it did intensify only slightly. Pleasant enough but a huge price tag for something you have to really focus to smell anything.

EDIT - I sprayed this at night before bed. Usually fragrances have rubbed off and disappeared in the morning, but this one actually intensified! I could actually smell it! Pleasant but still not worth it.

al-lewinsky

You spray it on at first, and it's very unassuming in how it opens. But it develops into this really beautiful and rather cute vanilla with touches of chocolate (the chocolate is my favourite part of this). It's delicate, classically feminine and very much a skin scent. Longevity is alright, you'll need to re-spray in some hours if you want to smell like this all day. An odd thought of mine about Orchidee Vanille is that it's what I imagine lolling about with a bunch of puppies would smell like as a memory; it invokes a feeling of a simple kind of innate happiness.

Snifftastic

This is such a classy scent! Orchidee Vanille is inoffensive and will have people asking what fragrance you're wearing. I've never smelled anything quite like it which is a plus for collectors or olfactory nuts. This is for a confident woman who does not need to search for attention, she knows her worth and value. This perfume is truly understated.

You really can smell each note in here from the vanilla, and orange, to the chocolate note, all the way to the slight powdery profile of the violet. This is beautifully blended so I will be picking up more from the house.

I cannot stop smelling myself so this will be going into my rotation. This perfume is truly addicting.

I think some people want beast-mode perfumes 24/7 and unfortunately for them, not every perfume is curated to be that way. Some perfumes are meant for the wearer to enjoy and those who are lucky enough to get close to experience the beauty of the scent as well. That is what I enjoy most about different perfumes, so it's not a huge negative for me if a scent tones down. I haven't noticed that this becomes a skin scent as I can always smell it so it could just be my skin chemistry or how I spray my clothing. Who knows!

If you're looking for something loud and attention-grabbing you may want to look into a different scent. This is soft and feminine, but it is not going to tell the whole world you've arrived -- this is for those who truly love perfumery. This deserves much more love than it gets and I'm happy to give it the attention it deserves.

This is blind buy safe in my opinion -- but it is up to you to decide for yourself. :)

DearAlexabell

This was such a bummer for me, wasn’t a very strong scent insanely intimate & didn’t last long. The scent itself wasn’t complex or interesting… based on the notes I was hoping for so much more. I find this bland & not worth buying, you can find so many better perfumes from all the different ingredients that are stronger in spillage, longevity, as well as more impactful in ur memory.

ChocoLei

I'm in love with this. It's such a beautiful balmy vanilla. It's not too sweet either.

It's definitely a VERY intimate fragrance. That's one you'd wear out in public if you're scared of offending anyone while wearing a comforting, almost gourmand scent. That being said, longevity is far from being short-- it's actually really good. It just becomes a skin scent really quick.

It's a little bit difficult for me to describe but it's far from being a dry, unprocessed vanilla like Dyptique's Eau Duelle (be it EDT or EDP) or a syrupy / baking extract one like Kayali's Vanilla 28. This one really feels like a rich, fat cocoa and vanilla butter to me. If you rub it on your skin however, it wouldn't turn oily like a typical vegetal butter, but somehow almost powdery.

It doesn't smell similar to Lush's Vanillary at all but it has a similar generous and dense texture if it makes sense. I would also add Serge Lutens' Un Bois Vanille in this comparison, although this one pulls way more waxy.

Orchidée Vanille also smells similar to V&A Bois Doré's vanilla, but this one is a little less shy of a fragrance. If you like Orchidée Vanille, I think you may like Bois Doré. I love both and my crazy self would totally justify the need to own them at the same time... Different vibes and occasions I think.

OV is, as you can guess, super cozy. Your ideal cuddle partner. I could imagine whoever hugs you feeling pleasantly surprised, realizing you're actually wearing perfume. Or... are you? Isn't it just the magic of your warm skin? Are you some kind of magical being, perhaps?

Albinushka

I didn’t get the hype🤔 no depth, no vanilla, zero projection, nice floral-sugary scent, but too weak.
nothing horrible and nothing special about it either 🫤 so glad I tested it first. So, definitely try before buying or you might be disappointed

delrey

to me this smells like a little vanilla cake with powdered sugar. i love it

FlowerCafe

This is pretty close to a cake batter, vanilla extract gourmand with a bit of powder.
Then it disappears.
Was quite a strong initial projection, then about two-three hours later it had practically entirely vanished.

chb

This perfume is nearly perfect, but I will say the mandarin orange note is bothering me a bit, didn’t expect it to be that strong.

sesllica

im a big fan of vanilla and not joking but this one is on the top 5 . it’s not sweet for me the vanilla is very balanced, and the dark chocolate is a white chocolate for me idk why. you can definitely get also the orange here. A BEAUTIFUL COMBINATION OF VANILLA , CHOCOLATE AND ORANGE, very light , powdery. but unfortunately it’s sits close to the skin , idk really if anyone could smell this on me because if so this scent would definitely get a compliment but no...but everyone should give it a try because it’s a fantastic perfume <3 love it

jeanette123

My husband said this smelled delicious on me. I could not smell it at all. I was completely nose blind to it, so I got an oil copy of it. I hope it's as yummy as he said.

ave_maria

I wanted to love it, but something in it gives me a migraine :(

SSBurn

It’s not bad but for a fragrance it smells like burnt candle wick of a vanilla candle.

s4gj

Have been wearing it for the last 7 days straight, indoors and outdoors, day and night . . . on clean, post-shower skin and the next-day skin. . . With and without fragrance free lotion. On skin and on clothes.

* It's not a smooth, creamy or juicy vanilla. . . very dry texture (not a bad thing, but not what I expected based on the rave online reviews, n what I smelt on someone else long ago n recently). . . The vanilla on my skin is somewhat artificial. . . like the bottled vanilla essence used to flavor cakes n icecreams at home. . . It's not crazy sweet though! Thank God!

* Nothing dark about the chocolate. . . Nothing chocolate about the chocolate either! Can't smell it at all! Not in a molten or glazed sense anyway. . . It's more like hot cocoa pre-mix powder, that u get in a store-bought tin can, only dusty/mealy. . . Comes from the Tonka note i think. The overall vanilla-chocolate combo is more 'powdered biscuity', than 'moist cakey' or liquidy, if that makes sense.

* The citruses here are surprisingly full-bodied n not sparkly or transparent, which I like in this specific blend.

* Haven't caught any rose or litchi notes at all throughout its longevity Till date! Not sure why.

* Longevity - I want to say 2 hrs, but I also want to say 10+ hrs! Can't say for sure coz it's such a mild scent n it's supposed to be that way? or the scent eventually fades but the remnants still remain on skin after so many hours. Either way I have to really put my nose to the skin after the 1 hour mark, once the citruses have disappeared.

* Projection/sillage - Very intimate within 15-30 mins, once the citruses start to calm down. This is a very quiet skin scent at the exact 'decibel level' I like for a bed scent. Absolutely love that!

* Unisex - coz u can hardly smell it!

* Excellent layering fragrance though; no doubt

* Soft, gentle, delicate. . . Yes!

* Cozy or fuzzy - No. . . I wanted that so bad, texturally speaking

Soothing/Comforting - On the fence, leaning towards no, but wanted that so bad too. The only aspect here is my own childhood nostalgia. . . It has that old-school powdery and lipsticky vibe that I hate, but in this fragrance, I don't mind it for some reason. . . Something you may probably relate to is, that peach coloured face powder (popular in the 70s n 80s) that our mothers n grandmothers used to use. . . The packaging was a peach/tan colored, hard cardboard circular container. . . that had a giant n fluffy turkish towel like powder puff.

*Warm - No. It's luke-warm on my skin, which eventually turns to room temperature.

* All weather n seasons appropriate for its luke-warm n light, powdery (borderline chalky) nature

* Is the fragrance rocking my world as a regular scent or a bed scent? No, but its growing on me slowly. . . Not sure if I'll repurchase it. . . Or may be I will! Donno yet.

* Does this fragrance make me happy? - It makes me 'ponder smile'. . . and then I look at the dent in my wallet

* Value for money - Depends on how much/if it grows on me eventually. But for now, I don't see it.

* If I run out of it, will i be missing something in life? - No for sure.

*Lesson learnt for the Nth time - Don't buy frags based on what they smell on someone else (even if they smell amazing!), or what YouTube says, or what Fragrantica comments section says. N yet when will i learn my lesson??!

Jasmine92

Does anyone else get root beer float with orange zest vibes?

Isabellagd

This fragrance was highly recommended as a sweet, gourmand vanilla and dark chocolate blend. Which it is... if you can smell it and if you can make it last longer than 5 minutes on your skin. It is very, very, very soft, it sits close to the skin and has no projection at all.

My bottle comes from a department store and it's genuine. I wore it five times in the space of five months, I let it sit and get better with time, as everyone recommended, and maybe by the 5th wear I got two hours out of it and I could smell it a bit more for the first hour. But then it disappeared again. The vanilla and chocolate notes were very faint as well.

If you're looking for a delicious, dark gourmand, with decent projection, this is not it. I recently bought Akro Dark, which I would highly recommend over Orchidee Vanille - it is a beautiful vanilla, dark chocolate and hazelnut fragrance, great longevity and projection and it's exactly what I was hoping Orchidee Vanille would be.

Sample it if you can, don't blind buy it as you might be disappointed with the performance.

a.m-p

The opening is a little boozy but when you smell your wrist hours after you apply it, you have a sweet and exquisitely cozy vanilla , tender like and kiss and a dream. It is intimate, but it lasts. I wear this one for myself. It pairs great with other more agressive fragrances.

Quintumvirate

I was at the store trying a bunch of fragrances, as many of us love to do, and I came across this intriguing vanilla scent. At first smell, it seemed like a wonderful, unoffensive, creamy vanilla. I could pick up a little bit of the chocolate in the background, but make no mistake, this is vanilla through and through.

However, as soon as that (very brief) initial scent faded, it became genuinely unbearable. This is one of only two fragrances where I've ever had an immediate and desperate urge to remove the smell from my skin as soon as possible. I like vanilla as much as the next guy, but this was excessively sweet, rich and genuinely sickening. As you can imagine, I didn't give it near enough time to judge the performance, but if its like most of the other parfums in this collection, it's probably not that great. Funnily enough, that's a good thing.

I never want to smell this again.

aquadiamor

Funny when I smelled it in the store first thing out of my mouth: oh wow kind of disappointing. Didn’t like the way the vanilla smelt like it was too buttery and warm.

Then after 5 minutes the smell settled and I inhale one delicious scent after another. The vanilla is absolutely irresistible and I rush back to the sales clerk to ask for a bottle. She literally was confused and said “didn’t you just say you were disappointed?”

Alas the opening was not what i expected as a gourmand vanilla fanatic, it’s a lot more raw and sweet in a dark way. Fortunately for me it only lasts about the first few minutes because what comes after that is the best vanilla magic my nose has laid its buds in. Best part is I don’t have to search for the scent it just hangs around me being so so yummy like an air of fresh vanilla with some notes of light florals to keep it from being “annoyingly vanilla”. Although I suppose if you’re not into vanilla like I am it would be annoying for sure.

This I would say is not a blind buy for the price point alone, but if you’re into vanilla this one is definitely not hiding the vanilla behind other notes. This one is vanilla with some additional florals that don’t compete for space. I would also say it’s not sweet in a candy way or scents that pull to “fairy dust vanilla with fruits” which is one of my usual favourites. This one is more of a mature statement of what a really pretty vanilla can be and I literally am obsessed with the delicious fragrance that is around me.

singlehandedbeauty

Although not perfect, my search for a warm and not overly sweet vanilla is over. Orchidee Vanille is a vanilla with a "cosmetic" vibe—think Mac lipsticks, Tarte eyeshadows, and Too Faced cocoa-scented products—but way more refined. It's the addition of the chocolate (more like cocoa powder) and violet that give it an elegant, warm, and powdery touch. This is definitely NOT a projector, so it's the kind of fragrance meant for the wearer and intimate friends to enjoy. I definitely get lovely whiffs of OV for a good eight hours, but to me, it does not justify the price point because of how quiet it is. It's the kind of fragrance you'd wear for yourself when you want to feel cozy while lounging or for bedtime. Vanilla lovers should definitely give OV a sniff. It would be a nice pickup at a discount.

Pearpanda

I'm not joking, I feel like my nose is having an orgasm when I smell this beautiful fragrance.

Pearpanda

I love this one so much, it's my favorite vanilla perfume ever. I litterally swoon every time I smell myself with this.

mermaidshimmer

Out of all of my vanilla perfumes, this one reminds me most of vanilla extract. This is dark and boozy but not heavy. The sillage is light (pretty much this is a skin scent) and the lasting power is moderate. Anyone who gives you a hug will smell it, but your co-worker sitting across a table from you won't.

It isn't a sweet perfume. Think "roasted vanilla bean" and bitter almond.
If you're a fan of Guerlain's Gourmand Coquin, which is elusive and pricey, this is the Vanilla version of that perfume.

LOVE IT!

Alinany

The kind of vanilla used in this perfume is very similar to the vanilla Molinard uses. If you want more affordable option it is worth checking out

cloudbustinger

it's certainly a lovely smell at the first few whiffs, but becomes headache inducingly sweet after a few hours. goes to show it had great longevity on me but it started to make me feel sick like i really had gorged myself on a decadent dessert. but i haven't given up on this scent yet, i'd love to try it out around christmastime!

Ilikewhatilike

Just for women? Guys want to smell delicious as well. This is stunning. Going to give it more proper wears.

meldloves

This perfume is delicious. I feel a delicate chocolate and vanilla cake, lovely. Longevity for me is around 6 hours but comments about the sillage and projection are true. In my case, I need to over spray and spray on clothes to feel it, but I don’t care, there is no other perfume I enjoy this much.
Update: after a couple of months I notice it has better sillage and projection. It’s perfect.

buffybases

Masterpiece. So good I am stingy spraying it....

- Floral vanilla which dries down into a perfect balance of sweet, powder and gourmand.
- Sillage is ok - longevity is good. OK sillage isn't a sin. There's something tacky about perfume you can smell a mile away. Perfume should be personal. No matter how nice you smell, if everyone can smell you, it takes something away from how nice you smell IMO.
- Grown woman girly. The perfect balance of classy, sexy and touch of dare i say - fun.
- Go heavy in the winter and maybe easy in the summer as a base fragrance. This would be beautiful with Bronze Goddess.

Its strange because this isn't my favourite. It's simple and uncomplicated. It's warm, cozy femininity. The ability to offend no one but smell so beautiful is what makes it a masterpiece. I fall in and out of love with different fragrances. But I'll love this to my dying day!

oceanorchid

Absolutely gorgeous. Its round, soft and well balanced. For a vanillalover like myself this is a dream! However, the longevity is terrible. It lasts a maximum of one hour on my skin and even my clothes which is actually insane. I have Eau de Fraiche and body mists that lasts way longer than this does.

I've asked several people to smell me to see if my nose gets blind to this, but no one can smell it anywhere on me. For that reason alone I personally do not think this is worth its price although others might have a different experience. I will continue buying it just because it's a gorgeous scent.

Peaches&Cream

I layered this perfume so I couldn't really detect the notes. I got more of a vanilla scent that smelled powdery and sweet which could have been the violet and litchi. The only thing is that it does not last long at all, when it was 6 hours I was shocked to not smell it on me...basically turned into a skin scent. I will use this alone and do a review next time.

Dessert Chic

There is something unpleasant in the opening. I can’t place it, might be the musk is too strong.

This quickly fades and the smell becomes almost imperceptible. If you REALLY get your nose in there, sometimes you can pick up a chocolate-vanilla that is soft and comforting. It’s weird because this faint smell can last all day and is quite, but at the same time you barely smell it.

If you want something ONLY you smell, this scent might make sense.

xXx CHAR xXx

Instant love… 💞

CSarwar

Smells like a chocolate and vanilla cupcake with a hint of orange. So good! And I’ve worn it all day and I can still smell it

Emma_C

When I first smelled this I immediately thought “Flan!” - that sweet vanilla & caramel-ish scent, it became my favorite vanilla fragrance!

This is a rather elegant and sophisticated scent due to the orchid and almond notes. It has depth, warmth and it’s feminine.

I saw someone comparing it to Kayali 28 and how this is less sweet and boring. It’s interesting how different our noses are, because while it is indeed a bit less sweet, upon smelling Vanilla28 for the first time, I immediately thought that it’s so generic and boring and that Orchidee Vanillie is so much more luxurious.

Personally, I get around 12h longevity and moderate projection, so in my opinion, it’s not weak at all.

scliesrwat

full-rounded, juicy, elegant. radiates sophistication. wouldn't wear this during very hot days though.

iseestars84

This is a really sophisticated vanilla perfume. It smells like if you opened a bottle of vanilla extract ready for baking chocolate cake on a frosty winter day, whilst a wood burning stove is heating the kitchen in the background. It is a hugely comforting, warm scent. A little bit boozy initially, there is also something woody and aromatic in the background. I love it! I can wear it in autumn and throughout our miserable British winters.

I’m surprised by all the negative reviews on the longevity - this perfume easily lasts 12+ hours on my skin and longer on my hair and clothes. There are so many vanilla perfumes out there, but this is a firm favourite of mine.

Leah0026

This is an instant love for me from first spray to 7+ hour dry down. I crave gourmand vanilla perfumes and love smelling them on others, but I can’t handle how overpowering and beastly they can be on my own skin. With OV, I can finally meet my craving without a headache! I just get gentle wafts of chocolatey vanilla orchids throughout the day. It’s such a beautifully blended and sophisticated vanilla. I’m only disappointment that I discovered this as we’re exiting winter in Australia - it would make the perfect winter signature scent.

Lsquared

There's something really special about this perfume. It's become an absolute comfort scent for me. It's true that it sits veryyyy close to the skin, but I kind of love forgetting about it for a bit & then getting random whiffs of it on myself here & there. This scent is beautiful throughout every stage. The initial spray smells a bit like cream soda to me & then it dries down to a delicious smelling dark chocolate vanilla cake. Very gourmand! Yet it also has a touch of florals, but it's ever so silent. The only downside to this perfume is the silage -- I do wish it projected a little more! Maybe it will in the colder months, which is why I cannot wait to wear this in Winter! It already is my go-to scent, but I imagine I'll enjoy it even more once the temperature cools down.

Aromantra

What can I say that hasn't already been said - this is a treasure! If you had to have one vanilla-based fragrance, this should be it. Beautiful, inviting, elegant, not too sweet, and complex in such a subtle way. Suitable for any season & is also perfect for layering. If you are hesitant about the high price point - I believe it is worth saving up for :)

Maddieh

This one has turned to be one of my favorites. It is so complex still so easy. I get the vanilla chocolate and orange maybe i do smell some of the tonkabean. Anyways, this one if you have some take some time with it, to figure it out 😊 in the very beginning i did not smell to much now i definitely do! I'm on my third or fourth bottle. This is a intimate scent for you to enjoy. Private luxury if not layerd with some other scents or oversprayed. Delicious.

fatooma

So far this this is the only perfume that I love every single note and every stage of it , usually I force myself to stand the openning of some perfumes to reach the drydown or love the openning then I couldn't stand the development, but this one is all what I love vanillic ,chocolaty and sweet without being cloying or foody.powdery without being chalky or childish, florals are just perfct amount to give it life, hint of citrus and fruit to give it vibrancy . It is very long lasting especially on clothes but projection is not what I hoped for .

Scissorslizardspock

I’ve had a rather large decant of this for a couple of years, blind buying 15ml because I was absolutely sure this would be a huge hit for me. I love every single one of the notes.

When my decant arrived - I was disappointed. I wanted Gourmand Coquin style chocolate Tonka sweet vanilla goodness, and Orchidee Vanille is not that. So I sadly put the decant away for a swap or sale.

Recently, I decided to revisit Orchidee Vanille. I sampled it with no expectations as to what I thought it “should” be. It’s really lovely. I get an airy floral, white musk, cedar, and violet. All with a vanilla backdrop. Crazy how your expectations can ruin an experience that would’ve been otherwise very enjoyable.

Longevity is moderate, as is projection. It’s not exactly linear, but it doesn’t evolve a great deal either. It’s more like the notes step into the spotlight and back again giving each a turn. I do get Guerlain vibes with the powdery violet and vanilla, but this is unique. I’m happily adding this to my perfume tray.

PetyaK

Love love - enchanting and sexy

PetyaK

Love! Could wear it all year round and gives me lots of compliments. This and DIPTIQUE Duelle are best and more complex vanillas that can be worn on their own and are good enough!

onaona

Vanilla is not really a weakness for me. With the exception of Boucheron's Jaipur Saphir, there just wasn't any other vanilla I had to have, but this vanilla is about to be a repeat purchase for me, and there's a good reason why that's the case.

Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidee Vanille is special.

It's the vanilla and dark chocolate, the vanilla and orchid, the vanilla and orange...in other words, the vanilla is beautiful. I'm especially drawn to the powdery (thanks to the orchid and chocolate) feel of the vanilla. When I look at the notes, I expect to see vanilla bean powder listed as an ingredient :) It's that impressive. The dark chocolate makes it sweeter, but not sugary and adds a little more weight to the fragrance. I've heard it described as gourmand but that's now the biggest appeal. The chocolate serves a purpose, but making this fragrance feel edible is not it. Orchidee Vanille sticks with me throughout the day and calls to me more in cooler weather. The orange with the vanilla comes early for me and lingers hours into the fragrance as well. On some wearings the orange seems to open solo.

I don't detect a lot of tonka beans as a separate note and musk and bitter almond don't present at all to me.

I see many people list this as their signature fragrance and I can see why. If you are in cooler weather, you could, and I most definitely would, wear Orchidee Vanille day in and day out and still feel special occasion ready.

fformoso88

So I got this fragrance after wanting it for a while now I wore it today and my co workers were like “ omg, you smell like a vanilla cupcake what are you wearing” so I showed them and now everyone wants this fragrance 😅 lol. Guess I started a trend. Seriously though I’m in the fragrance industry and so are my co workers I’m talking about so that says a lot about this fragrance. Also the longevity and silage for me was great! I got a lot of compliments with this and yes, you will smell delicious! I love vanilla fragrances and this is an amazing vanilla fragrance! I definitely recommend trying it out on your skin!

Catmo

This is disappointing. It’s not bad, just kinda boring. Very poor projection and not even remotely long lasting. It’s like a faint vanilla- a plain vanilla.
It reminds me of a lighter, less delicious version of Kayali Vanilla 28.
I just don’t see the point.

likesleet

sweet, nice, vanilla. light as well

Chinello23

I’ve been excited to smell this for YEARS and its so underwhelming I wanted to cry. Smells like air. Nothing. Nada. And a faint wisp of woody…soap.

WifeyPink

I love vanilla & this is totally worth the hype if you can catch it on sale! Not all perfumes are supposed to be loud power houses. This is perfect for intimate occasions at home. Soft & feminine. Wore for 4+ hours so far. I adore this one

AlaskanAngel

I don't get the hype. I can barely smell this. Super soft vanilla and iris. I find no chocolate, citrus/fruit, almond (luv almond), rose (hate rose), or any other notes. Such a soft, barely-there scent! This can't be right...

It smells like a candle or lotion someone is using in another room and you notice it when the door swings shut because you caught a brief fragrance floating on the draft before it faded away. That's my experience pressing my nose against my wrist to sniff the slightly scented skin and then smelling absolutely nothing waving my hand a foot from my face. Am I anosmic to this or is it just a bad bottle?

After a couple hours of wear I applied a different fragrance as I was weary of trying to smell something/anything and finding nothing for my efforts!

Review of full bottle blind-buy purchased from fragrancenet.com

UPDATE
Decluttered. If I can't smell it, what's the point?

NOTE
I checked the batch number to see if it was old, 01L43L231, made 18AUG2020, so less than two years old at this point. It should be fully mature/macerated/developed by now, not weak sauce. Might just be my chemistry/biology. I am often unable to detect chocolate accords... but WHERE ARE ALL THE REST OF THE NOTES?!?!

Kaylovely

Smells similar to Brittania by Roja, Wonder Woman by HOS.

BAF85

Lovely, linear, straight vanilla extract fragrance, with a light floral undertone. Not complicated, not a “baked goods” vanilla, more like the vanilla bean itself. One of the few vanillas I’ve kept in my collection for when I (occasionally) want a vanilla perfume, now that I’ve grown out of my sweet vanilla/gourmand/youth phase and my tastes have changed. Never smells cheap or synthetic to my nose. I don’t really wear it alone, I like to layer it with woody, more complex perfumes to give a bit of sweetness. Probably won’t repurchase, but my bottle will last a long time, sillage is impressive on this one.

tiger_eyes_

The perfect words to describe this are 'soft', 'delicate' and 'cozy'. It's a nice smell but I want more spice and character in my perfumes. The projection is also very weak and you can barely smell it after some time. I prefer the Vanilla 28 over this but I still enjoy it very much.

Sanrio

I adore this. The violet isn't rated high enough in the notes list.

It's like Insolence + white chocolate + lip gloss.

Truly a dream fragrance for me. I'm going to buy a FB and layer it with Insolence in the winter because the dry down is a little too chocolate-vanilla sweet on it's own.

Natashaps01

VC&A fragrances do not last at all. Save your $$

dewynote

I was thinking about trying this one but the scent would hardly last on paper let alone skin 🥺 never had this happen before. Otherwise smelt lovely.

AnaMaria97

I loved the scent from the bottle, a soft chocolatey vanilla, but the longevity and performance were so bad for the price point.
It’s not floral in the usual sense, but the vanilla is a warm vanilla orchid, not deep like a vanilla bean, and the sweetness comes from that powdery chocolate.
So similar to Al-Rehab’s Choco-Musk, which lasts even longer, I couldn’t justify keeping it.

wenshere

This actually doesn't smell like a vanilla perfume to me. Also the dark chocolate isn't as deep and smooth like I expected. There's something powdery in this which reminds me of those choco powder you use to make instant chocolate milk with. It's not overly sweet though, it's quite subtle overall and doesn't really project. Honestly I'm not impressed since I was expecting this to smell like a deep sweet gourmand with florals, as the 'orchidee' part in the name suggested, but I'm not getting florals at all. It's not a bad scent though, but it's nothing great either imo. Also, projection is like non-existent.

x.rina.x

This is the perfectly sweet, warm, smooth addicting vanilla. ( i have to tell, that at this moment, this is my favorite Vanilla) Sweet, but not sweetooth ache sweet or cloying. It's complex, it shows many aspects of the Vanille itself. Rich, but not heavy just perfectly balanced, creamy and blooming. You can feel the whole Vanille, the vanilla bean & the vanilla orchide as well. as the powderly vanilla sugar at the backfround of the drydown and sometimes u can feel a bit darker not so sweet vanille, thanks for the cocoa pod. It's a vanilla gourmand, but for me it's not just edible sweet. it's a beautifull whole Vanille.

miss_chris

Orchidee Vanille smells like a warm vanilla & dark chocolate marbles bunt cake dusted with some powdered sugar that has a flowery aroma to it. It is very wearable and not overpowering so perfect for those who want to spray obsessively throughout the day -(me)
I will say that when you first spray , it has an awful alcohol blast that prickles your nostrils so you really have to wait a couple of min for that initial dry down to get a more accurate representation of the scent.
It’s a tame vanilla cocoa gourmand that will please gourmand lovers like me while also appealing to those who don’t typically reach for gourmand scents

Galdie

It's a very pleasant, complex scent, I absolutely adored it in the bottle, but unfortunately it was not working well (better to say, not at all) on my skin... It has lost all it's beauty, the projection was very weak, and lasted not more than 1 hour (which in my case was not a problem).

menna81

I could bath in this scent for the rest of my life..Heavenly smooth vanilla and cacao powder. Very intoxicating and mouthwatering. Must have for vanilla lovers!

quelledame

A very playful and fluffy vanilla that I find myself reaching for when I need something comforting. I wish the litchi was a little more present, but the violet, almond, and vanilla blend is beautiful. The rose and cedar are undetectable to my nose, and the chocolate (a very pretty powdery cacao note) does not come out until hours later. Really surprised to see others mentioning a poor projection/sillage as it is almost a top-tier performer on me---two sprays get me compliments throughout the day. This is a must for vanilla lovers.

charcharl

I tested it a few times and was unimpressed, but it had so many positive reviews I was swayed and thought I needed to wear it properly a few times before giving my verdict. So I bought it when it was on sale and I’m glad I got it for the sale price because it’s definitely not worth the full price. It’s very pleasant, light, inoffensive and unspectacular. The projection is so weak that at times all you can pick up is a sugary sweet smell. Tried spraying it on clothes and it didn’t last more than 2 hours. On skin, 30 minutes. The chocolate note isn’t so strong for me. It’s more like a spiced orange. I get what people mean when they say powdery and airy. It’s so light it’s almost like it’s trying to escape as you attempt to get a whiff of it. Will not be repurchasing. It’s pleasant but there are better gourmand vanillas out there I’d rather spend on.

5xSecrets!

I have tried Orchidée Vanille a couple of times now. It has absolutely no projection after a very short period of time. If you want to get a whiff of it, you have to bury your nose into the area where you sprayed it. It does last for a very long time though. For those reasons, I can only imagine that this was composed for the times you are in an environment where you have to be extremely careful wearing a fragrance such as the workplace.

Otherwise it's a beautiful and complex vanilla with cacao and floral notes that is not too gourmand.

maailmajuhe

I'm willing to ignore the low sillage because the scent makes me sooo happy

Taniko

I want my skin smells like this perfume. Love it. ❤ My man never compliments my fragrances, but when I wear this lady, yes. Just the Beauty in the bottle. So sexy, so elegant, so nice.
Try it on Midnight in Milan body lotion by Glasshouse fragrances or mix it with Bois Dore VC&A.

Marissaludmila

Very beautiful scent, the chocolate is definitely like dark cocoa powder to my nose with vanilla extract, i don’t get any other notes but it definitely is a great scent for all seasons & times in my opinion, safe blind buy for sure.

MaxieF

If Chanel Chance had a vanilla flanker (assuming they dont) this would be it. It smells like vanilla and some florals and I get the Cedar. It's really pretty and fluffy. It feels a bit dated to me which I also feel about Chanel Chance so I don't imagine I'll be using up the sample. It's definitely light too. I can't imagine this projecting at all. Not worth the price tag unless you adore the scent. I think it would be good for all seasons.

Edit: I found that this did project quite well on me. Unfortunately I just did not like it as it feels more like age 50 and up and I'm in my 20's.

Sweetvanis

Airy, powdery, soft vanilla. I don’t actually smell chocolate

SailorV

This is not just another basic vanilla. It's the ultimate epitome of feminine beauty in perfume form to me. Orchidee Vanille really has it all: Dreamy, bright, warm vanilla as the main note. Sophisticated gourmand accents of chocolate and orange. It smells like lighter, milky chocolate, but not overly sweet or waxy, just perfect. Girly pink fluffy freshness from the rose and litchi. Ladylike, powdery notes of violet and orchid. Even a hint of a dollskin note, but also enough cedar to ground it and make it a little more serious.
It doesn't change a lot while wearing - the opening is sweeter and shows of the chocolate note and fruits, in the drydown I get more of the powdery florals, and that's it. But due to the many well-blended notes the scent still doesn't feel as simple to me as some other vanillas do.
It's is cozy and elegant at the same time. Everything is so harmonic, no note overwhelms. What more can a vanilla lover want?

For some reason I can't quite explain this gives me fuzzy nostalgic feelings of being younger, around the time when I just finished school. My pink room at my parents' home, the matchy outfits I wore, drinking coffee with friends all the time, my general innocent and more optimistic mindset... But without the confusion and anxiety I also often felt. It's weird, I haven't smelled it back then, but I'm sure I would have liked it. It doesn't feel like something too cute and frilly for me now though, it just makes me feel good.

Orchidee Vanille has a soft character and moderate to good performance. It's not a loud sillage bomb of course, but I think that would ruin it. I can clearly smell it on me all day, I really can't complain.

perfumewave

I get a powdery dark chocolate smell from this. It is bitter-sweet. I cannot detect the flowers. It's very faint and sits close to the skin. While I was wearing it, most of the times I wouldn't smell it but in unexpected times my nose would catch it when I move around. Even though the notes doesn't look like it, I feel like this would be a perfect summer perfume because I think this would be more detectable in hot weather. I'd say that faint scent stayed on for like 4-5 hours.

Perfumepusher

This is like one of the best smelling perfumes IMO. The chocolate, mandarin orange and vanilla orchid stands out the most on my skin. Sadly, the scent is a very powdery-soft and skin-like scent, I really wish for better projection with this one. To say this smells fantastic is an understatement.

CertifiedMoxie

This is a quiet fragrance. It’s that shy beautiful person content but sitting alone. It’s absolutely lovely but its whisper of a presence makes it go unnoticed. My favorite way to use it is to layer it on top of Vaniglia by Mazzolari as a glorious sleep concoction.

GabrielleeeeeW

Hmm, maybe slightly disappointing because this is a very hyped up vanilla. To my nose it is very similar to Prada Candy Night. Definitely get the orange and chocolate notes, but not in a rich, gourmand way. This fragrance is pretty powdery and dusty, like the chocolate note is cocoa powder instead of a chocolate truffle or dessert. I get just a bit of vanilla but I wouldn't consider this a vanilla forward fragrance. It's nice, but overhyped. Projection is nice.

takema

I adore this delightful fragrance. It smells like a wonderful dessert dusted with cocoa and vanilla powdered sugar. It is soft, fluffy and powdery with just the right amount of sweetness. The orange and litchi give the opening a brightness, but the best part comes as it dries down. After about 15 minutes the fruits fade away and the vanilla, cocoa, tonka and almond all take over and I am surrounded by a cloud of deliciousness. I don't really detect the florals and the cedar. This fragrance is all about powdery sweetness.

I have seen a lot of reviews complaining about the performance of this fragrace. I agree it is far from a projection beast, but it lasts for hours on my skin. With six sprays it has a light to moderate projection for about 2-3 hours. My sister could lightly smell it from across the table. At first she though I had baking in the oven. After a couple of hours it does soften quite a bit. Someone would likely need to be in your personal space to smell it, but I can smell it on and around myself the whole day, 8-10 hours. I find it stays on clothes until they are washed

This is a fragrance I crave in the fall and winter. It is cozy and comforting and a great scent for cuddling. I find this to be a pretty ageless fragrance. While it smells like a dessert, it's not juvenile. There is enough maturity to it that a grown woman won't feel silly wearing it.

The Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire presentation is terrific. Very simple, classy and feels high quality. I think their retail prices are abit on the high side. I have bought both of my bottles from discounters for a little under $150CAD and I fell that is a very good price point.

emeraldwaters

This reminds me of Chocolate Greedy with an added zesty orange and powdery vanilla. Very soft scent; intimate & doesn't project much. Doesn't last long either.

ladyjb

The vanilla in this smells exactly like vanilla extract! Also detecting some chocolate, and a bizarre balloon/latex scent, unfortunately the scent is so slight I can barely smell it!

clairdelune

The scent is nice though not terribly distinctive and not what I was expecting from VanCleef & Arpel's 'luxury' line. I expected more complexity, more intrigue, but it possesses neither. What I did get is a hefty dose of sweet (confectionary/baking) vanilla and chocolate -- milk rather than dark chocolate, actually. I am unable to detect the other notes that are listed.
For it's entire run, it doesn't really evolve but just remains in that sweet, pleasant, safe, cupcake space.
I would say this would be a fairly safe blind buy for someone interested in a very soft, vanilla-ish/milk chocolate scent. I also think this would be useful as a scent to combine and layer with others if you're looking to sweeten or round out what you're wearing. I will say that while it wears close to the skin, many hours post-application, I am still able to smell it.
Another commenter said she thought this was not for her as a woman in her 20's, but was instead "for the 'over 50's crowd," which is funny to me, because I find it to be way too simple and linear and juvenile to be FBW for me -- an over 50-er. To each her own of course.

Kaylovely

Smells 99% similar to wonder woman! Lighter in performance. $305 difference.
I get citrus in both somehow... like orange soda in the beginning and then powdered sugar marshmallow goodness. Beautiful scent! Ultra Femme! More linear than woman, smells like the dry down. Takes hours for woman to get there! Also the chocolate in this makes it so much more creamy. This for summer, woman for winter / special occasion. Iced hot chocolate, vanilla sugar body powder.
Layered with meltmyheart omg!!!!!!!! Chocolate silk perfection!

jassca99

Smells like a whole assorted chocolate box filled with caramel chocolates, white chocolates, nutty chocolates, and fruit-filled chocolates, and then more specifically the chocolate bon bon with the purple, berry, filling (probably the litchi). Smoothed with vanilla and Tonka, a nice gourmand. Very soft however.

morji

Looking to trade or buy a bottle off someone in the US!

Taniko

It's a beautiful feminine vanilla chocolate fragrance. I can smell the orange In the first 1 hour but after the creamy vanilla chocolate goes all day and doesn't change.
Longevity is perfect on my skin. I'm wearing it more then 7 hours now and still the same as in the morning.
Love it.

Aglopez09

I was excited to see what the hype was about, as I've seen so many people gush over this perfume in a lot of frag pages on fb. Unfortunately it was not what i was expecting, nor hoping for. I literally smelled like a chocolate dipped cigarette. Or a girl hanging out at the bar, covered in cigarette smoke, while wearing a sweet perfume. It's a miss for me! If you like chocolate.. it may be your jam.

missmaddiemac

I can’t remember if I’ve reviewed this before but anyway! This is a super pretty vanilla that’s unique and worth adding to your collection if you’re on the fence. It smells like cream soda to me. Lots of ‘niche’ vanillas have dupes (SDV and Kayali Vanilla 28; Tihota and B&BW Vanilla Bean Noel; Mazzolari Vaniglia and Outremer Vanille) but I can’t think of anything that smells like this. It’s cozy and signature-scent worthy bc it’s not too heavy or overpowering. I like wearing it fresh out of the shower/before I go to sleep :)

Crystalita76

Orchidee Vanille is extremely gourmand.
A vanilla lovers dream fragrance.
And on my skin it is exactly as it’s named- orchid and vanilla.
Almost like a refined vanilla extract mixed with a tiny bit of cocoa and smothering that mixture on top of some orchids in full bloom.
This not a beast mode fragrance unless you decide to overspray, but it does last on the skin and clothing a long time.
It’s just very intimate and not projecting.
Definitely sweet but not cloying at all.
Not a girly type of sweetness.
More deep and eloquent.
Very soft and I can see why people say it has a bit of smokiness. The cedar and tonka beans moved together give it that smoky vibe.
I don’t really get the powdered vibe in this one but anything with tonka bean will come off that way.
I get no citrus from this beauty. Like zero.
No litchi- no mandarin- no rose.
Just loads of soft vanilla and lovely orchids.
I really love it.
It’s completely unique.
Well rounded. Nothing sharp in this one.

Hammyt100

The drydown of this gives off the same vibe as Dama Bianca by xerjoff, though not as heavy.
It's kind of powdery, as most of the extraordinare collection that I've tested have been.
I definitely get the chocolate and tonka. It's kind of a dark vanilla, but it's really airy at the same time. Lasts forever and projection has been moderate for the lasts 8 hours.
It's not a like or a love, but I'll give it more time to grow on me before I write it off.

Edit: Pretty, but not for me! I have a full bottle in box if anyone is interested.

Cloelles

First spray has some smokiness to it for me.. is it the tonka bean? A bit of that alcohol(?) perfumey smell but mildly.. dark chocolate.. something zingy.. like boozy.. perhaps that is the smell that others smell as orange or orange peels.. But mostly to me in the first spray it smells smoky 60% and 30% like a zingy bitter dark chocolate and 10% boozy perfumey ... It is not overpowering at all, doesn´t hit you in the face or make you cringe, you can smell it but it´s still mild compared to most perfumes, you can smell it but it´s not "too much".

The first spray settles fast 15 mins or so into the most lovely soft skin scent that to me smells exactly like hot cocoa with milk! It has 0 perfumey smell (thank god!) and only smells very realistic hot chocolate drink with creamy milk. Very cozy and lovely! Doesn´t have much projection if all.. i cannot really smell it on myself unless i sniff my skin, but it does last on the skin for at least 8h on me.

My husband said from the first spray that it smelled like cotton candy or marshmallows, which i don´t get at all but ok. Neither of us loved the first spray but didn´t think it was bad either. When he smelled it on my skin hours later he kept sniffing and said it was really good. Now he described it as wood and marshmallows... Which is so weird to me.. haha but yea.

This is a very safe blind buy for anybody, you will not get a headache from this perfume even if you tried. It is mild, close to skin realistic hot chocolate. It is cozy, easy to wear and humble yet complex enough to not smell cheap or like you just rubbed yourself with milk chocolate. It does not have that "im rich and sophisticated look at me" pretentious tacky smell that most perfumes have in my opinion. It smells "clean" in that sense, not even a hint of that perfumey smell that induces headaches (except a tiny tiny bit in the first 5-15mins). I cannot imagine there is 1 person on this planet that would not like this scent. I mean who doesn´t like hot cocoa? I keep sniffing myself when i´m wearing it and i absolutely love it!

jg341

So disappointing! Have you ever had an orange chocolate truffle? If so, the first spray smells exactly like this and I’m not the biggest fan of orange chocolates. After 30 min, the citrus passes and I’m left with the faintest whiff of powdery vanilla that just reminds me of the way old cars in the 90s used to smell. If you’re a fan of orange chocolates, then maybe this will be a hit for you but it’s a hard pass from me.

reaabf

I'll be brief (I feel like an intruder or a trespasser!!!), this is an elegant, yummy , gourmandy, and pleasant fragrance, I am going to buy it for my wife today :)
p.s : great job Randa Hammami, keep it up.

babysoft79

I think I'm in the minority here... while this isn't unpleasant, this wasn't quite the love or even like, like I thought it was going to be:( I love sweet gourmand scents, but I learned with this one that I'm not a fan of chocolate scented perfumes, and specifically powdery chocolate ones. On my skin, it pulls a playdoughy like note, a little bit like Hypnotic Poison, and that combined with the powdery chocolate made this one an unsuccessful buy:(

Jadeeeee

Blind Buy & Love at first sniff ❤️. This smells VERY similar to Jo Malone’s Myrrh & Tonka. This is a sweeter version of that in my opinion.

This is not a a sickening sweet gourmand fragrance at all.

itsalwayssunnyd

Just can't get over how perfect of a vanilla this is! Its powdery, elegant, feminine, soft, fragile, delicate, beautiful, gentle, sweet, lovely. its a woman as described by male authors (ha!) which I usually hate, but in this case, I'm emulating my inner male author because it works so well for this fragrance. it smells like something a silkstone barbie would wear - if you've never seen one, they're expensive barbies that are made to look porcelain, with faces like the vintage beauties of the 40's - 60's, and a matte, almost powdery looking porcelain-esque material. just so delicate and beautiful. i usually like syrupy sweet vanillas, but in its gentleness, this perfume has won me over :) just radiates femininity and softness while still being sweet!

lifeisaloha129

At first sniff I was kinda confused because to me the orange note was too prominent but the citrus gets faded away very soon leaving vanille and floral scents. Thats the moment I cant help moving my hands towards my nose and keep smelling. This fragrance is so pretty and I got so many compliments when I wear it. Higly recommend to whom wanna feel gorgeous themselves. Definitely my favorite dating perfume (:

karinatfragrantica

Gentle, elegant vanilla. Not too sweet.

Cheserae

A really pretty chocolate vanilla fragrance. It is light, and I think people who only spray 2 sprays of their perfumes may have a longevity issue. But it does last if you spray it enough, especially on clothes. I like to wear this for dates with my boyfriend and it makes me feel really pretty.

gloss

bought a sample of this from luckyscent along with a couple others and this was my favorite of the bunch. immediately upon finishing it i ordered a full bottle online. i'm not very good at telling notes apart but i can easily smell the chocolate and it's delicious. the weak sillage is a pity, but i don't mind as much since i get headaches often. the bottle is gorgeous. looking forward to wearing it all winter <3

firstmate423

This is a beautiful vanilla scent. I was expecting it to be a little more a more syrupy, heavier vanilla but it was surprisingly fresher than I expected. I will wear this at work, and I think this would be a great bedtime scent as well. It’s very soft and comforting. Definately a keeper, but I am still looking for that perfect sexy, gourmand vanilla!

anna1987

It smells nice, like a smokey expensive soft vanilla…but I would prefer this as a room scent or candle scent. It doesn‘t project really well…

justTaylor

I adore this perfume. It is so comforting and not overwhelming sweet vanilla. The citrusy opening helps to ease the sweetness. The subtle hint of smokiness is also beautiful. This will be my winter scent for sure.

Mira J

Orange, chocolate, and vanilla goodness. Such a comforting fragrance. It is an intimate skin scent, but I don't care. I over spray and enjoy my scent bubble. Very simple and pleasing to wear.

Swedelish

A perfect cakey vanilla that's not too sweet. The notes listed on this page make it appear more complex than it is. It's a straightforward fragrance, but I wouldn't call it extremely simple. It's vanilla enhanced by accompanying notes that are so well blended it's hard to pick them out individually. They all add their own quirky nuance to the vanilla. It's a little fruity, a bit powdery /dusty (violet, cacao), chewy, cakey, balmy (tonka, violet), skin-like (musk), with a swirling of pink (orchid, rose). Yes, it smells a little pink to me.

When I smell OV I think of a perfectly square-cut piece of double - layered German Chocolate cake ( a very mild chocolate cake) with a thick smearing of light pink vanilla buttercream frosting in the middle, a dusting of dry cocoa powder & a light sprinkling of orange zest on top. I get all these parts at once in this fragrance; no top, middle or base phases. I suppose it's a tiny bit woody, which gives the composition structure and longevity.

Orchidee Vanille is very nice. It's refined, easy to wear. A gentle gourmand vanilla. Very linear on my skin. After a few hours it's still a soft, balmy, chewy cakey cocoa and pink vanilla that turns more skin-like as the musk comes forward. 💕

It's a gentle scent but not fleeting. I can spray my skin and still smell it halfway through the day if I'm at home. If I'm out and about the scent disappears pretty quickly from my skin, so I just spray my clothes for an extra boost and that does wonders for the longevity of OV. I'm eager to see how it does this winter when temps really dip.

My favorite natural smelling Cakey vanilla atm.

ilayda

This is a stunning sweet vanilla. Its not very powdery and smells very chocolatey and decadent. The dry down is a more warm spicy floral that smells so yummy. The orchid and tonka bean blend together beautifully. Its faintly fruity from the mandarin but its very weak and just balances this fragrance a little. Ive always loved almond and violet paired together and I find it brings a nice complexity to the scent.

bluesunshine

Orchidee Vanille, soft & elegant gourmand. “Your skin, only better”… i can appreciate that this one doesn’t need to be noticed until you’re within arms reach. Not everyone needs to smell your perfume from 100 meters. I can tell top quality ingredients were used in the VCA’s I’ve tested. I wear this one in colder weather where it really blossoms. 10/10

ivanda

S w e e t Vanilla with a luxury dark sillage, I do find it kind of oriental. Smells very Nice and longelivity is also pretty good, average price. If you love sweet perfumes with that tonka Vibe - go get this! For summer may be too heavy, but for colder weather it will warm up feelings and will do it's lux catwalk.

brokesta911

Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidee Vanille (2009) - ethereal chocolate - #randahammami works on Vanilla as an ingredient and creates a very refined fragrance. A powdery gourmand. In its heart I get Cocoa powder, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Almonds while supported by florals & Fruit such as Orchids, Violets and Orange. Delicious.

OhSoPrilly

It's a good Netflix and chill choice. It won't offend anyone sitting next to you, but also won't make anyone say "Oh, that's nice, what are you wearing". It's a basic skin vanilla. Don't know that I would buy again. Not long lasting - under 3 hours wear.

okamikiera

A light, sweet, edible vanilla frosting. I love it, but not exactly niche complexity-- I like vanilla with some earthiness from woods or amber typically. Still, this is pretty addicting and highly wearable if you like gourmand scents.

𝙴𝚡𝚌𝚕𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚟𝚊𝚗𝚒𝚕𝚕𝚊?

A pretty, semi-sweet vanilla with a floral hint on a quite common cedar base. I didn’t get much chocolate. In the realm of Kayali Vanilla 28. While certainly pleasant it is such an underperformer. Intimate sillage and longevity under 4 hours.

Not worth the retail price. I’m sure if this was a designer release it would be criticized a lot more.

-Delectable vanilla.
-Low projection/ throw.
-Low longevity.
-Lacks complexity when compared to its Serge Lutens counterpart- Un Bois Vanille. (-)

What? I'm very dissapointed! This is like water. No projection at all, zero sillage, skinscent straight the way. It disappears!! This was not cheap. I'm mad!!!

AkiraHatake

Lovely, but has that bathroom soap vibe, which I don't want to smell like.

haleyscents

Powdery soft vanilla with a little orchid + rose. Not overly sweet or strong. I wish I got the lychee or chocolate notes 😢 If this was bolder, it would be a love, but the longevity and projection are weak for the price.

OMG i received 75 ml bottle ..It's AWESOME ! i loved it so much , the opening is Vanilla very Vanilla but the dry down is stunning , Mandarin orange ,Vanilla , some Powdery scent with chocolate and little hint of Rose , So classy ,Not oo much sweet or overwhelming heavy scent , Its the perfect combination between Vanilla , Powder, Orange and Rose

amaliesh3

Smells like candy orange. Like chocolate oranges. Doesn’t last very long to me

Thick, syrupy vanilla grounded by the dark chocolate and wood notes. Fresh squeezed orange peel in the air, but i smell none of that on my skin. Sillage is low. Reminds me more of Un Bois Vanille (a little sweeter) the Eau Duelle, which has a softness. They could all be siblings tho. Un Bois Vanille would be the older sister, likes expensive booze and is a bit uptight. Orchidee is the middle child, not as noticeable but works long hours. Then Eau Duelle is the youngest, light and breezy and flipping all around in a beautiful sundress.

A truly Gourmand with vanilla and chocolate. Very pleasant and lovely.
Not floral on my skin, it's sweet and a bit gooey.
But the sillage and projection is so poor on me. Just skin scent.
Not FBW. If it have a better performance, I will definitely buy it.

This could have been great, I believe the powdery notes makes it lean more vintage 80/90s vibe. You know a slight Opium smell that my grandmother use to wear.

L'Outrecuidant

I tried this today along with Ambre Impérial from the same line, as well as Tuxedo from Rochas. While the other two were sharp in the beginning, this opened soft and lovely with the lychee note only adding a hint of tanginess. It settles into a sweet scent fairly quickly and stays almost the same throughout.

Since I have a jar of vanilla pods from Madagascar at hand, I decided to compare the two — and the real vanilla wins easily! Vanilla is a complex scent with so many subtleties, including a slight woodiness and booziness, that Orchidée Vanille, for all its loveliness, cannot compete with. But it's not at all a bad perfume: it's incredibly sweet and alluring.

LL830

A very pleasant and lightly sweet vanilla. I get a blast of orange in the opening that dries down to a soft vanilla. I sprayed about 8 sprays of this including one spray on my shirt before bedtime and was able to smell it on myself in the morning. The sillage is not strong and I can barely smell this on myself but will get occasional wiffs of vanilla throughout the day. This is probably the most pleasant, crowd pleasing vanilla.

This smells a lot like mancera choco violet (which I also have) except without the violet (which I don’t like-DM me if you wanna trade me for something btw! It’s the 2 fl oz/60 ml slightly smaller bottle, missing 2 sprays, comes with bag and box)
VC&A is much more elegant I feel. It’s smoother and just a bit more grown up. It feels warm to me, I feel cozy and pretty wearing it. I smell the touch of orange (just baaarely) as well as the other *whispers* of notes listed. I love it!

carmenandmonkey

A cold frothy glass of skinny chocolate milk, dusted with a finely milled dark chocolate and vanilla powder. Very gourmet. The tiniest essences of orange, orchid and violet add to the beautiful inflections and interest of the chocolate and keep it perfumey. That being said, I imagine it an edible and artisanal chocolate.
