Adore the scent, roses, raspberry, chocolate and vetiver - it's beautiful! Sadly it can barely be smelt when on, even with overspraying. Annoyingly, it does linger quite strongly in the room said overspraying took place.... $200 odd for a room spray...? 🤔

I’ve received it as a gift and I didn’t expect to fall in love with it so quickly. I hate the weak longevity of Van Cleef perfumes that I’ve tried before but this one feels different. It’s sweet, jammy rose. Sweet, but elegant. Very feminine in my opinion. Smells like rose garden after spring rain. Imagine that you are sitting in the garden, eating vanilla pudding with black currant jam. For me is innocent but yet sexy. Like beautiful woman’s lips covered with jam.
I love it! 💖

EDIT: Longevity isn’t good at all, so disappointing. 🥲

jyumisong

I love the scent. Hate the performance. I don't know if I got a bad batch or need to let it sit for awhile, but the scent dissipates on my skin within 30 minutes. I can smell it on my clothes though. I guess this one's a clothes sprayer.

The smell of roses

I recently had the opportunity to sample a delightful rose perfume in a reputable store in central London, and I must say, it's seriously tempting me to make a new addition to my collection. This fragrance is a beautiful homage to the classic rose, with a scent that vividly reminds me of Bulgarian roses, old rose varieties, and the enchanting rose gardens of Monsifot and France.

However, it's important to note that this isn't a purely rose perfume. It's a skillfully blended fragrance where the rose note takes center stage, but it's not the sole performer. The rose is clear and distinct, but it's part of a harmonious ensemble that makes the overall scent truly captivating.

As for the authenticity of the perfume, I can vouch for the one I tried in the London store. However, I can't speak for the originality of perfumes sold on websites like FragranceNet. After experiencing some surprisingly good replicas of Deptique perfumes from China, it does make me question the authenticity of businesses selling small tester sizes like 2ml or 5ml (not original testers made by the brand).

In conclusion, this rose perfume is a delightful blend that rose lovers should definitely consider. Just be sure to purchase from a trusted source to ensure you're getting the genuine product.

This fragrance is absolutely beautiful! It's such a gem. On my skin, it opens sweet and vanillic with a silky milk chocolate nuance, the I get this sexy rose and fruity situation the way to the drydown. Rose Rouge is well blended ,it sits perfectly between gourmand, fruity, floral -- a true love potion! I loved it at first sniff...this fragrance is a great option for date night, valentine's day, any time you want to standout and be noticed. It's a compliment getter!

Think I'm anosmic to this scent. Bought an 8 ml from FragranceNet. Tried it as soon as I received it. Smelled nothing.

Okay, let it sit.

Three, four weeks later, try it again. We're talking 6/7 sprays to my bare arm. Again, nothing, sadly.

I guess I saved myself from another blind buy fail. Really wanted to love this one; especially seeing it compared to my long lost love, Roses Berberanza (oh how I miss her & regret that sale).

Is there anything that really resembles the queen, Roses Berberanza & Calligraphy Rose 🌹. Those two are sorely missed.

If you have or have seen either of the two I mentioned, feel free to contact me. I'd really appreciate it.

I've been looking for a rose perfume, something not to cloying or sweet. I've tried Nirvana Rose, Aerin Evening Rose, Dolce Rose and now Rose Rouge, and I think rose might be undetectable to my nose as none of these had a rose forward note for me though I see from the votes most people find this scent rose dominant. To me, its more a semi-sweet fruity gourmand dessert scent. Its simple, familiar and lovely. For me, Rose Rouge is a raspberry cocoa scent (powdered cocoa not hot chocolate), powdery the way cocoa powder is powdery, fruity raspberry and not too sweet, with a hint of dark vanilla, a fragrant and comfortable scent perfect for this cold winter morning. I want it to be a warm scent but it seems cool to me, like raspberry chocolate mouse with cocoa powder dusted on top. It feels like an angora sweater, soft and cozy, and a little decedent.

Edit: my husband says this scent is very floral forward on me. He likes the nice, floral fruity fragrance. So it is just thay my nose doesn't pick up rose notes.

Baroqu3

I have always wanted to try this perfume and it doesn’t disappoint. Love at first sniff! This could easily be a signature scent.

Firstly, I am not a fan of roses as it comes across too dominant, powdery and mature so it’s rare for me to fully enjoy a perfume with a prominent rose.

This perfume has a light, youthful, playful and slightly sweet rose blended with the blackcurrant juice to perfection its smooth and sophisticated, not jammy nor sugary just lightly sweetened. There’s no raspberries in here so it’s not sticky. There is something sensual about it and I think it’s the cocoa and vetiver in the base with the musk and a tinge of a very clean patchouli. I don’t like patchouli so I’m glad it’s not prominent nor detectable in here. This is not a gourmand even with the cocoa and blackcurrant juice. It’s a very pretty, feminine natural smelling fragrance and the rose is very well blended and doesn’t over power the other notes. This perfume is for a very feminine and beautiful girl, it’s got that pretty girl feel if you know you know. If you want to feel youthful, feminine, put together and pretty go for this one.
9/10
Moderate projection and lasts 5 hours on the skin.
I would recommend, it’s full bottle worthy and reminds me of Soi Malaquais.

Myrtillajus

As a rose lover, I had to try this fragrance, which is part of a brand line that is giving me a lot of satisfaction.
Unfortunately this did not happen with this creation: The Rose here is very sugary, candied, and too synthetic. In short, I love this flower in its pure, spring-like, or perhaps dark, meanings, but where it has a leading role.
Here I don't see it as such, and the whole frame is not to my liking, but obviously it's my own taste.
The persistence, contrary to what I have read, is good, I would recommend it more during the cool seasons.

dariaka

Never been a fan of fragrances with prominent rose notes but having tested this in a physical store I couldn't help but order the full version. Never heard of this perfume house before, even though they are quite well-known. Later discovered one of their fragrances was the one that late princess Diana liked.
Overall nice concept (I've never seen perfume "envelopes" instead of regular perfume blotters before, it's a great idea), bottle design, perfume quality, would gladly buy more of their products in the future.
For this perfume line, testing is required as some of them reportedly lack longevity and generally, any fragrance needs to be tested before buying.
The smell can be described as "rose petals jam", reminds a little of Idole by Lancome but the composition's different, more like a "mono" smell.
I love it, great for colder months

Sinikat7

Tried Neroli Amara, Moonlight Rose and Rose Rouge today, and Rose Rouge was by far the best. It's a super pretty, feminine scent. The berries are sweet yet not too sweet, making the rose jammy, but after around 30minutes there was an almost mint-like note, not sure what caused it but I enjoyed it. After that, it became a sweet creamy rose again, but I did get a hint of chocolate praline. Would love to have this one to wear on dates, but it's a bit pricey for me. Longevity is good, but sillage is just alright. To me, neroli amara had the strongest sillage though.

rene.saller

In general, I like my "rose" fragrances to be a lot more rose forward than this, especially when they have rose right in the name, but the rose that is there, while no soliflore, is exquisitely rendered: deep, sweet, spicy, and jammy. I love the citrus and vetiver, but the patchouli is a little too harsh for my tastes. I do love the black currant note and wish it were dominant over the raspberry, which makes this seem like a slightly more upscale version of Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds en Rouge. I'm glad I just have a travel-size sprayer; if I end up using every last drop and loving it, I'll buy a full bottle, but I already suspect that this is similar enough to several of my other rose fragrances to make this inessential for my particular scent library.

Update: This one really improves on the drydown. The cocoa notes are coming through for me, at long last, and I'm getting a vanillic creaminess that wasn't here before. It reminds me a bit of a Montale, only with all the incensey, oudlike notes removed and somewhat more demure musks. The only danger with this one is that I become slightly anosmic to it and might overspray. The cocoa-rose-liqueur effect is enchanting! In fact, I think I'm going to upgrade this one to a love. I'm glad I chose it for my monthly subscription purse spray; this seems like one I will get a lot of wear from this autumn and winter. I picture armloads of red roses surrounded by open boxes of Valentine's truffles. Not getting the drunken-Halloween-rose that Elena described so memorably, but there's still time, I guess. If such unruliness does develop, I think I might let this rose get me soused and make out with me--why not? I'm not going anywhere.

Update: Wearing again and enjoying it and trying to decide whether I will feel the need to buy a full bottle or another purse-size sprayer when this 8-mL purse-size vial runs out (it's from a subscription service). Maybe it's just because I was wearing Mohra Silky Rose earlier today, but now I'm noticing certain commanalities between the two perfumes. I'd say the Rose Rouge has more projection and sillage, and a stronger (but very smoothly incorporated) patchouli note, but overall it fills a similar, if not identical, niche. The rose note comes through more strongly for me as well in the RR, which is always a plus for me. For this wearing, on the warm skin under my cotton sweater, the green vetiver notes complement the patchouli and make it more appealing to me. The cacao notes are just beautiful--not as sweet as in Mohra Silky Rose but darker, and more mochalike. Imagine eating high-quality dark-chcolate bon-bons while strolling through a private conservatory filled with roses. The French doors are ajar, so you can smell the grass and moss of the surrounding woods.

Samanthabdel

I could not put my finger on what this smells like and then it dawned on me! Si Intense 2021 without the patchouli!

The opening in this is green and earthy but after about 5 minutes it starts to smooth out and turn into a rounded, warmer, fruity/rosey jam-like scent. She is a little mature but not in a vintage way. This isnt something i’d wear to the office but i will definitely wear this out and about during a beautiful, crisp fall day. Oh and in terms of the Roses Vanille comparisons… this is much classier, better blended, and not synthetic at all.

Editing to say that i do wear this in the office! Its strong in the morning but by lunch im basking in the beautiful sweet rose sillage this gives off! I love vc&a and this is one of my favorites!

AnastasiaGostieva

Rich fruity gourmand rose with lot of “praline” type of notes and smooth powdery “make-up” finish. Beautiful composed fragrance, long-lasting and very sexy.

To my nose it’s perfect for autumn scent 🍂 it’s soft and warm and cosy and the rose is gentle. The fragrance sits close to the skin on me but lasts all day and night. The rose is jammy, sweet but not too sweet. My husband thinks it’s beautiful.

violeteme

No, this does not smell like a rose garden, nowhere near natural roses. It's a very sweetened, fruity-jammy synthetic rose. Lovers of Delina, Atomic Rose, Roses Vanille, Gentle Fluidity, Roses Berberanza could potentially love this too.

AhmedElbahja95

Rose Rose Rose. This is how I imagine a rose garden in heaven to smell like. This is an incredible scent. Absolutely gorgeous. It's a rosey sweet fragrance that's definitely worth the price. I highly recommend this fragrance to any lady. The only reason I don't give this perfect marks is due to the lack of longevity unfortunately. Either way, it does the job for a few hours and can easily be reapplied without being overwhelming. I give this a 9/10.

Ravenz

To my nose, this seems quite close to Bath & Body Works You're The One. It's a nice enough fragrance but it's not unique enough to purchase a bottle. I already have You're The One and that is strong for a fragrance mist.

arshadhusseinn

A very easy to wear fruity rose fragrance. The opening has a burst of fruity fresh sort of vibe but the dry down is making me come back for it on a daily.

Mademoiselle Rêve

I love the drydown, but unfortunately it turns sour on my skin and clothes for a couple of hours, until that pleasant soft jammy rose drydown enters.

If you like this scent profile, but find it sour on you, I suggest you to try Goutal's Rose Pompon EdT or EdP, it isn't too similar per se, but you may find it appealing. Personally I find Rose Pompon to be a much better 'jammy but not too sweet rose with some fruits'.

arizonaruby

This is such a lovely jammy rose perfume. It starts off super juicy with the blackcurrant and raspberry. The rose then gradually blooms, becoming more prominent. As it progresses it gets a little drier, with the patchouli and vetiver grounding it nicely. I also get a slight gourmand vibe from the vanilla and cacao; these give some delicious warm sweetness, although it’s restrained. If you like jammy rose scents, you won’t be disappointed. Really good performance too.

jbsherry

This is delicious once it dries down. It opens with tart blackcurrent, and while not unpleasant, gives a slight green/medicinal tinge to me. The juicy raspberry starts to peak through shortly thereafter, accompanied by the jammy rose. Once the cacao enters the picture, the scent evolves into something more interesting, bordering on gourmand but never crossing into edible territory completely. I do get roses surrounded by milk chocolates once it’s fully dried down. The scent feels very romantic and feminine to me.

I agree with the reviewer below me that it is reminiscent of Roses Greedy, but Roses Rougue feels more complex and deep texturally whereas Roses Greedy is more watery/transparent. I personally do not detect much vetiver. The patch in the base is quite smooth and ties it all together. I truly do enjoy this fragrance for all of its stages. Impressive performance and sillage as well.

jjluvsm9

A rather generic fruity floral. Restrained in its sweetness and complexity making it straight forward and not immature. I get the feeling with this entire brand’s line that their idea of luxe perfumery = restraint. Indeed, a VS body spray that smells just like candy isn’t going to smell expensive, and I respect prioritising restraint and balance but only when it is executed in an excellent fashion. This is not. The rose here smells disappointingly synthetic. A bit like Roses Greedy by Mancera but more body to it. As for the other play of notes, it’s all pretty lacklustre - I do not get any cacao, I basically only get a slightly jammy rose with tart raspberry and quite a large dose of sour vetiver. Not worth the price tag.

I bought a full bottle because after 9 months of sitting and wearing in cold weather, this is a lovely fragrance. I still the the fruity aspects dominate, but the rest has become present and it's a great wear. Sweet, though, very sweet. But more fruit sweet than sugar. Cocoa comes off as a little powder/dusty chocolate scent.

If your nose, like mine, picks up black current to the exclusion of all other notes............this is sour. It eventually does dry down to a sweet, sour, fruity rosy scent. Unfortunately, at no time do I pick up cocoa, patch or pink pepper, not even the vetiver, which I can usually smell a mile away. Maybe raspberry, but that's sour too, so I can't tell the difference. I always (mostly ;)) let my frags rest 6-12 months after first trying and test again before I write a review so I can get an accurate impression before I review, so I'd rec you test this one before you buy bc on paper this sounds lovely. Just doesn't translate that way to some noses. My sampling was done with a Fragrancenet 10 ml purse spray.

brandybasisty

Omg, I just got a 75ml bottle of Rose Rouge, and love it even more after spraying from a full bottle instead of my decant. I'm experiencing the spicy opening in all its intensity- kind of like Black Orchid with its distinct whiffs of chocolate and unisex aquatic note. The pepper and raspberry in the top are harsh up close, but they push out the fragrance and mix with the rose wine to create the most delicious sent bubble. This rose wine is of slightly dried burgandy petals, it's not a bright rose. I can't drink a lot of red wine anymore, but this helps me get that same aroma experience. I'm getting some lovely wafts from 2 sprays on each arms. Not one to huff up close, haha. So glad to have this one. I find the performance pretty good, between 6 and 8 hours and I keep smelling it.

coodler

Sweet, jammy rose, yet not sickly sweet like candy. It’s like Roses Vanille’s older, more mature cousin. Personally I absolutely love sweet fruity roses so this is right up my alley. There’s a slight pepperiness to it that beautifully balances out the sweetness and gives it some complexity.

Amazing longevity and sillage. Beautiful summer evening fragrance.

LIDIA S.

Really like the scent of rasbery rose jam with caramel popcorn nuance, but unfortunately this perfume doesn't project much of my skin.

MaiSuwinai

Beautiful feminine perfume, I have a full bottle for sale in EU.
Please DM for interrest :)

Loui81

Please read this: I value my perfume collection very much, but some of the perfumes are missing the cap - so if you have emptied your perfume, I will be very happy and grateful if I can ask for your cap (size 75 ml)
Please send me a PM - Thank you.

LaContessina

A very standard, grown up rose.
It has that typical burnt sugar note that makes it so similar to many other roses today. Rose, caramel and some vanilla.
Nice but not outstanding, a pity since in the Collection Extraordinaire there are some gems.
Doesn't project much, doesn't enthrall much.
Didn't get to enjoy the patchouli phase, it was gone before that!
I didn't particularly enjoy it, as i found it very similar, if not identical, to Rose l'Extase (perfumer F.Kurkdjian).
To me it's not FB worthy.

T0by

Now I might hate this because I am a guy, who was told this is a "unisex" fragrance, but despite that I think it is objectively meh.

When I first smelled it and had the scent develop, I liked it. It's a subtle scent which ( I thought ) would come off more seductive than feminine, despite the rose top notes.

However, the more I wore it the more I hated it.
I can smell little to no development, Just the rose base notes and then it fades into an almost unnoticeable vanilla and a little spice note.

The rose note isn't even nice. It's not a sexy sweet like azzaro is konwn for. Just a synthetic smell which I found pretty bad.
Definitely not what I would have expected from a brand known for quality, especially not for the price.

TL;DR : It's bad

Brooke1988

This one takes me on quite a journey! On first spray, I smell a syrupy sweet black currant/raspberry/patchouli combination. It's rich, dark, and delectable. Within a few minutes, the composition becomes sour and spicy - not my favorite, and at this point I was preparing myself for a let-down. Luckily, it takes an upward turn in the drydown: it becomes softer, no longer sour, and a sweet rose develops mixed with the richness of the vanilla and patchouli. A little bit of spice remains and in the deep drydown (my favorite part!), I start noticing the velvety texture of cacao powder combined with the rose/raspberry/vanilla/patchouli notes. I would try a sample of this first and commit to letting it drydown fully before forming your ultimate opinion. To me, Rose Rouge is a sexy, sophisticated, dark, fruity rose fragrance that is neither "overly mature" nor "too young". I am thrilled to have it as part of my collection!

aldinatic

This perfume smells herbal but in a feminine gentle way, almost not like the notes. I really like this perfume. Only after I tested it on my skin, I liked it and I love how stunning it is. What a electric feel on my skin!

MademoiselleMaya

Rose Rouge is so big that in fits colder weather much better.
It's syrupy sweet, fruity, rosy, warm. It's not subtle nor shy. It will please someone who loves abundance of pretty. Everything here is pretty in cold weather: the Si-like black currant, crisp bergamot drowning in raspberry syrup and rose confiture - whoever dislikes it needs to buy rose confiture and add a teaspoon to a mug full of tea and observe the rose petals unford, the taste changing to flowery sweet and no longer will you react badly to this sweet scent :) Because it will bring back this moment. No chance to resist.
In the background vanilla swims in the sea of oriental benzoin, the patchouli is near Angel-like, vetiver balances it out.
Everything is here. Everything you can possibly imagine as a pretty scent.
Cold, dark day? Apply for the evening and you would want to go out ! Or hide under a blanket to love yourself :D

Siennai

The raspberry is overwhelming and gives me a headache. More green than jammy and the cocoa clashes with everything else like if you put cocoa powder on rose jam.

Im still looking for a rose perfume that will smell like the turkish delight roses they have in regents park.

Zazi j mohammed

Really this is one of the best perfumes that I’ve ever had it is feminine, elegant, and classy and has very good performance

LSAUG

I had high hopes for Rose Rouge and I got a decant in my monthly fragrance subscription to give it a try. This should be an easy like for me, but Rose Rouge is a total let down. The Rose here is plastic and very artificial and not in an interesting way that aldehydic florals often are, you know like White Diamonds, Sicily, Fox in a Flowerbed etc... They are faux, like faux but high-quality glass pearls as good and as pretty as real pearls from Oysters beds. I know this isn't an aldehydic floral but when using floral notes if artificial or even natural they should be handled in a way that makes them shine and sadly this fragrance does not shine. The type of plastic rose in Rose Rouge is like a vase of cheap plastic flowers, sad, ugly and unnecessary. It reminds me of the rose in all the Ralph Lauren Romance Flankers, they and this is pure plastic and cheap. So, first off, the rose note is not working for me at all. 2nd there is way too much vetiver in this fragrance. I like vetiver but if it is overdone it can ruin a fragrance. 3rd the chocolate here isn't as pronounced as I would have liked, very weak. And 4th I am getting a bit tired of pink pepper and should have avoided this since I have pink pepper roses, and ones that I like far better than this one. I have had bad luck w/ the decant subscription lately and end up giving so many of them away. I just canceled my decant subscription service w/ Fragrancenet, not happy w/ what they have on offer. Many of the perfumes on offer w/ them suck. I will find a home for this but needless to say I will not be buying a full bottle of this ever. It smells cheap and rather boring. If you want a really good gourmand rose, try Chopard Love Chopard instead. That one blows this out of the water.

Edit: As this fragrance goes along it just ends up being a syrupy sweet bore in the way LVEB does. LVEB is an oversweet dull and doughy iris. Rose Rouge ends up becoming and oversweet plastic dull rose ground in vetiver.

takema

I have had excellent luck with the van Cleef & Arples Extrordinaire line. Rose Rouge might be my favourite. It is a dark, sweet, rich, red rose...one of my favourite types of fragrances. I always find the rose/raspberry combo so appealing. Here the opening is more rose forward. Here the rose is rich, sweet and jammy and a bit boozy with some brightness from the bergamot that keeps the sweetness from being too heavy. As it dries down the raspberry is more discernible instead of just making the rose jammy. Once it fully dries on the skin it is a warm, spiced rosy vanilla and the raspberry fades away.

For me, this is a sexy feminine, nighttime fragrance. Suitable for a date night or a night out when the evening is a bit cooler. I find Rose Rouge never feels heavy or cloying and have worn it on a mild summer night and it was never suffocating.

It's not the most unique scent profile and smells a bit like a couple other fragrances in my collection. It has a similar profile to Roses Vanille but Rose Rouge is much smoother and easier to wear. The rose is similar to that in Lush Rose Jam, but this one is more complex and interesting. There is a more distant similarity to Lancome Roses Berberanza, the rose and spiced vanilla base are quite similar, but the Lancome fragrance has strong nutty notes that Rose Rouge does not. I like Roses Berberanza in colder weather and Rose Rouge in more moderate temperatures. Even though Rose Rouge is not unique, it is one of the nicer of the fragrances with similar scent profiles and if I could only have on I would probably chose Rose Rouge.

The performance is pretty solid.I has fairly strong projection for 3-4 hours, but then settles quite close to the skin for the rest of the wear. Although it stays fairly soft it lasts all day, at least 10 hours on skin. I can smell it on clothing the nest day.

I love the presentation of this line. The bottles are simple and elegant and everything about them feel of good quality. The box is sturdy and attractive enough to display. The retail price is a bit on the steep side but not unreasonable for this line. The Collection Extrordinaire can often be faound at discounters for about half the price and are excellent value at that price.

heera ahmed Alkhyeli

I’m really in love with the black currant and the pink pepper and with raspberry and Rose and the base with vanilla cacao and and mask I think this is a really nice combination between two different sense and I think the Bergamont will give it a really nice splash of freshness Overall I think this perfume is a really sweetie perfume but at the same time it’s balance with the vanilla and cacao and patchouli And the sweetness in the raspberry and the rose and the vanilla but overall this is a really sweet perfume and l give it 8.5

fragrance_girl

I blind-bought it on online sale from one of department stores without properly testing it, and it turned out to be not for me.

It's a nice, evening type of perfume. If you like daring and potent perfumes, it might be for you. It's too much for me, unfortunately. I prefer light and subtle scents.

If you're interested, please let me know.

EDIT 1: I smelled it again on a sweater that I sprayed with this scent on a couple of days before and surprisingly, I actually started to like it more. I guess it's meant for going out during colder evenings. The warm spicy note is prominent. If you like patchouli, benzoin, cacao combination, this scent may be for you.
And yes, it's "beast mode".

EDIT 2: l think a man could definitely pull it off as well. Especially the opening. The scent is warm spicy, but not in a very feminine, sweet way.
I was asked what scent I was wearing (only one spray!), which is a good sign.
Lovely for a cold, cozy evening when you want to smell refined.
Lasts an eternity on a sweater.
I may eventually keep it.

EDIT 3: I'm torn because I really like this scent, but only after 6 hrs when it has properly dried down.

perfume_angel

This is a sweet, jammy, boozy rose. It’s sweet, but just sweet enough, and it has a nice fruitiness from the blackcurrent and raspberry. 🍓🌹🍷I do smell patchouli, but nothing offputting at all. It just gives depth to the overall composition of the fragrance. If you love jammy roses you will most definitely enjoy this one!

Shaina87

This is ar pretty jammy rose with a slight spiciness. It's sweet but not gourmand sweet imo. It's really nice and the performance is really good for me as well.

The more I wear this, the more I like it. I think I might even love it.

annema

Jammy raspberry rose. Well balanced and no synthetic notes. Not too sweet and not too floral. It's very nice. That house and it's collection extraordinaire makes great quality perfumes that are easy to wear. Nothing groundbreaking but they smell good and are quite classy without any sort of "old lady" cologne. I like it. The perfume when you're not sure what to wear and want something fun but refined. Longevity is great (6h on me).

Beautiful scent that transports you! My second gormound fragrance which I did not think myself a fan of before I smelt this. The most unique part about it is the benzoin gum.

AlaskanAngel

One of the best sweet, jammy rose fragrances I have encountered. I don't like this style but it's smooth, well blended, and the patchouli is restrained. Glad to test it, happy to only tried a decant, that I will be passing on to someone who will enjoy it.

Review of 8ml decant in travel sprayer purchased from Fragrancenet.com

Controlledbyscent31

This reminds me of rouge by narciso so much. I will get a full bottle soon when I have used up alot of perfume.

I fell in love this this at first sniff. To my nose it’s very similar to intense cafe (which I adore especially on colder days). This scent is summery, lighter and sweet. It’s not too sweet though. There is great depth and it’s blended beautifully. For me It’s very long lasting on clothes and skin. In my opinion it’s not over powering but soft and light and beautiful. To me the term jammy rose fits perfectly for this scent. I wouldn’t recommend blind buying it. You need to test this on your skin as it smelt very different from the scent strip to skin.

hsiangchi.huang

The initial spray is 80% similar to Lancome’s rose berberanza, then it quickly dries down to a different scent.

This is fruity, playful, zesty, like a sour candy. Whereas berberanza is heavy, nutty, and decadent. I can’t stand the funky notes in berberanza, but rose rouge is good (although it stays closer on the skin).

fauxmantis

This smells so familiar, but not like any one fragrance that I own. I get some Lancôme Oud Bouquet, some Ouai Melrose Place, and call me crazy, but I get a tiny bit of Alien Mirage from this? It must be the pink pepper. Overall this is darker, sweeter, and spicier than I was expecting.

Hum_C

This scent is like a lighter version of Lancome's Roses Berberanza. The opening is a bit sharp and spicy to my nose but it quickly becomes a fruity-rose-chocolate goodness. The benzoin, vetiver and patchouli gives this sweet scent a lot more depth and character. But Rose Rouge does not project a lot and is quite light. So I would overspray this one. Like I literally made 14~15 sprays today and then it was I could smell it on myself for 5/6 hrs.

I'm so glad I bought this perfume because I absolutely love Roses Berberanza which seems to have been discontinued. I only got this yesterday but I am already loving it 😘❤️

xrayer

This definitely wasn't a love at first sniff for me but my goodness - has it grown on me! Often rose is a tricky note for me, often it becomes very sneeze-inducing, sometimes it's a note the even makes me feel nauseous. But there is something addictive about this one, it's all sweet, creamy, warm and sensual roses. My wrist is glued to my nose, I must have it! And it has been going strong all day! For reference the only other rose fragrances I wear and love are Stella EDP and SL fille de berlin.

SailorV

Pretty, dewy, sweet roses and raspberries on a powdery vanilla base. It's lovely. This rose is gourmandized, but more like a light jellly than a thick jam. The cacao note is subtle, but noticeable, and gives the scent a little twist that makes it warmer and even more delicious.
Unfortunately I also get a scratchy green note in the background that isn't too harmonic with the rest of the scent and makes it drop from a potential love to a simple like. Not sure if it's from the vetiver, it doesn't smell all that much like vetiver, but I guess so, because that's the only green note here. It's most noticeable in the opening and turns softer as the scent dries down and the vanilla, cacao and patchouli replace it.
So, this is a good scent, but in the sea of gourmandish roses today I would obviously rather chose something without any scratchy notes.

This reminds me a little bit of Lancôme Rôses Berberanza, but it's not exactly the same, Rose Rouge is much softer and less opulent, like a light and fluffy, more versatile version of this scent profile. In this case the rich and loud version works better for me though.
I don't see a resemblance to Mancera Roses Vanilla and its many siblings and cousins.

perfumewave

It's true that this is very similar to Intense Cafe by Montale. It's a bit fruiter version of it and maybe not as strong and heavy as Intense Cafe which can be a good thing. Honestly I like Intense Cafe but it's too heavy for me so if I had to chose one I'd go for Rose Rouge.

brokesta911

Van Cleef & Arpels Rose Rouge (2018) - raspberry clouds - the must-watch @julienrasquinet serves up a refined take on the rose & patchouli combo that so many brands have created. The fragrance is mainly Rose, Tart Raspberries, and Vanilla. But there are nuances of dark Cacao, Pink Pepper, Musks and Vetiver that has been placed there to support the fragrance, yet deftly put together to remain “haute parfum”

MissIvy

A jammy shampooie raspberry rose scent. The patchouli and cacoa is there to give it some depth, but it's well blended enough that the patchouli is very minimal. Which I'm not mad about at all. Starts out very sweet with a little tartness from the raspberry and black current, and slowly drys down to be a little more powdery. It's a beauty scent, but unfortunately the lasting power is rather sad. I sprayed it on my hand and within a hour it was barely more than a whisper. On my top it lasts a little longer at least, but its not great. Thankfully it is relatively inexpensive so reaplying throughout the day isn't a huge big deal. 7/10 I would rate it a 8 or even a 8.5 if it was stronger with better projections and lasting power. All around it's a gorgeous scent, and I am really going to enjoy it. I will update in a few days when my Madison Lancome Rose Berberanza comes in and I compare the two, as they are suppose to be extremely similar.

ScentBliss555

This scent is really nice. The perfume is super jammy, rosy and sexy! Warmed skin makes it smell even better...
Great quality but too short-lived. No way to sugar coat it, this scent's performance is abysmal. It's gone within 1-2 hours and I am of the mind that longevity matters as much as the scent.
I have found that three sprays of Rose Rouge and two sprays of Alaïa Blanche keeps both scents light and flowy. They last for hours together (6+ hours). The best part is that they don't fully mix and I end up getting to smell each individial perfume throughout the day so the caveat is you must love both perfumes.
Hoping it performs better on its own late Spring and Summer.

foxy_minxy

This is very pretty! I cannot imagine anyone disliking it. It's mainly rose, secondly raspberry, thirdly cacao. Delicious without being immature. Reminds me a lot of the divine Panah - Pink Champagne Truffle. Unfortunately it's true that it longevity and sillage are poor. The price point is reasonable though, so it's worth re-spraying!

flawl3ssnbrown

I own Delina and I own Parfait de Roses and this does not smell like either of those to me. Though if you like those, I'm sure that you will like Rose Rouge, but i LOVE Rose Rouge. Much much more than I like Delina or PDR. This is a sweet candy jamy rose. Its very linear so it pretty much smells the same from opening to dry down. Parfait De Roses is something I would wear in the day time to the office, and Rose Rouge is definitely and nite time scent. Date night, sexy. I'd say this is my all time favorite Rose fragrance. If I had to have one rose for the rest of my life, it would be Rose Rouge! It is truly beautiful

If you read the reviews - honestly everyone has something different to say, so I suggest you get a sample and smell for your self. Or even blind buy

Swedelish

Have a bottle but don't wear it often. The treatment of the rose is similar to how Montale & Mancera do rose. It's a bright, tart blackcurrant rose with a hint of berry and that very familiar patchouli cacao combination that was popular around 2010 (Dusty, earthy cacao patchouli that could pass as old books and cocoa puffs). It's in the same scent family as Si EDP, Delina and Absolutely Blooming done in a more refined way.

At first it's berry-tart and roses. Very girly and pink. Some time later the earthy patch, chocolate and vanilla come out and the scent deepens and softens a little. It's a tart fruity, musky rose with mild depth that doesn't feel dense or too sweet.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for it, sometimes I'm not. It's a sort of mood dependant perfume unlike Parfait De Rosess and Flower L'Elixir, both of which never fail me when I'm hankering for gourmand rose. Parfait de Roses most especially. It is the crowned jewel of rose in my collection ; a unique gourmand rose which nothing else compares to, including Rose Rouge.

That said, Rose Rouge is very lovely in its own right. It isn't totally unique but I appreciate the quality and the ease of use with it. It gives me "grown-up-girly" vibes, much like Absolutely Blooming does, which could explain why I'm drawn to it in certain times. I will say, the more I wear it the more I like it. Longevity and projection are both pretty good. About average for the house.

Side note - Rose Rouge layered over Flower L'Elixir is DREAMY. RR accents the rose and makes the raspberry more tart in FL'E, and FL'E gives something more to the drydown of RR.

Edit : Longevity is actually pretty amazing. Just when I think it's gone, it's not. It's still perceptible on my skin almost 24 hours later.

Neckromancer

This smells like Parfait de Roses. It really does. The same good quality too. Sweet, pleasant rose. I smell red fruits in there as well, but it's not a juicy scent. It's more smooth and soft, velvety. It's not very strong in terms of projection.

agschlot

One of my top scents. Like another person mentioned, it's pretty gourmand but I think that works especially well for the cooler months. I can't smell rose by itself strongly, but in general it invokes a 'red' feeling that is made full by the cacao, vanilla, and raspberry. It's the kind of feminine scent I'm looking for while in my twenties still. I can also smell it 12 hours later if I spray it onto clothes.

I was looking for another winter rose scent and decided to compare this to Brulure de Rose 13 Pierre by Guillaume Paris. The notes listed are quite similar but I found Rose Rouge to be fuller and better at projection. This is the one perfume I have gotten a compliment on without first mentioning I was wearing anything, if that's anything to go by.

karinatfragrantica

The better Delina! Sweet warm rose but more elegant and less sharp and screechy than Delina. But quite poor sillage, unfortunately. Surely not a powerhouse like Delina.

fhteamssarl

So sweet with roses and black currant and red fruit.. you don't need this try something better

Dramaloladiva

This is not the best Rose scent out there and it certainly doesn’t evoke a Red Rose to me...it’s more like candy. It’s been done before (Lancôme Rôse Berberanza/Parfait de Rôse) and it has nothing like the ones mentioned above on longevity or projection or sillage. Therefore, it’s a pass for me as I already own the Lancôme ones and don’t need yet another Rose Candy perfume.
Nice try though on replicating Lancôme...

ingeneuxo

-Pretty rosy floral scent.
-Reminiscent of Intense Cafe by Montale. (-)

Taniko

I had to smell this perfume on my skin a few times before I bought it. It's hard for me to find a nice floral fragrance which not too sweet on my skin. For example everybody's favourite CH Good girl middle note turns sooo annoying on my skin and I just want to rid of it.
But lets talk about Rose Rouge on MY skin. The first tone is fresh and peppery that feels like a unisex perfume. The middle note is literally a bouquet of roses that if I spray it closely on one spot on my skin it can be almost too much but still plaesant. The dry down that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE a lot is a beautiful cacao and vanilla mix.
Definitely it suits for a mature woman it's not like a "go to the market perfume".

scissorhandedly

Not a rose person but this is nice. What makes this perfume, for me, is the cacao pod - amazing. It's more of a middle note, I'd say. The lingering scent after a couple hours is mostly patchouli with vanilla and benzoin (not my favorite but nice enough). A peculiar note comes through sometimes, slightly reminiscent of gasoline - not sure what that's about, but like I said, it varies from spray to spray. The raspberry and black currant work great to make it less "mature sophisticated" and more "sophisticated with a spark". As far as impression goes, this is between designer and niche.

Ash2005861

This smells absolutely beautiful. It's classy and alluring. My husband loves this, he said it smells like something he imagines Marilyn Monroe would wear and I couldn't agree more.
Longevity on my skin is about 5 hours but on clothes I can still smell the next day.
To me it's worth it, so unique. Could be a signature or a special event perfume.

Shan101beauty

A beautiful sweet fruity rose. Such a sexy scent.

clintjr82

As a man this is an awesome scent for a woman. The raspberry , rose and gourmand notes that are blended is sexy and fresh. This scent had the whole saks womens fragrance area filled up. Thats when I ask one the specialiist , what was the scent. I will be buying for my mother and woman.

Nora Gad

To me it's so close to Delina

JasmineLajolie

Smells like PDM Delina Exclusif & Swiss Arabian Royal Mystery had a baby with added berries & vétiver. It is DIVINEEEE and sexy af. Love it

bergamotted

Like a dark red rose and berry jam. A bit boozy too. As time passes a (thankfully) light vanilla overtakes the booze and jam, and the roses become more prominent too. I prefer the boozy aspect of this fragrance much more than the light vanilla, so it's a shame it only lasts for around an hour before morphing.

Pilikins

Beautiful fruity rose crush. This perfume begins with an arrestingly sweet rosiness. I did not get any citrus at the beginning, just a huge bouquet of roses and berries muddled together - I wish I had a spoon! The intensity increases over time, with Vetiver and herbs drying the sweetness somewhat in the middle phase. However this is balanced by some boozy vanilla and the cacao which create warmth. The cacao note deepens towards the drydown, joined with amber and sweet musk to accompany the now demure rose. Definitely feminine and longevity huge, sillage big.

MissAnnette

I’m very grateful to piahellgren from the forums for recommending this perfume to me. But after much deliberation, I’m going to remove this in my to-buy list. I really like the drydown of this perfume but the part I enjoy is much too fleeting. I am fine with a decant which I can dab on whenever I want to smell this beauty.

parfum arthur

Captivating scent that smells extremely sexy. It’s like the smell of dewy rose petals and juicy, sticky fruits of berries have been pounded together in a mortar and pestle. Instead of extracting the watery juice, the pulp has been collected and bottled up.

There’s a powdery note from the cacao that smells of a brand new purpley red matte lipstick. This is juicy and sweet yet dark and alluring simultaneously.

Bombalurina

I wasn't much of a rose person but this is beautiful! it's starts off kind of green and crunchy but dries down to a lovely sweet fruity rose, this was a blind buy but I'm so happy with it- instant love!

dzingunyte

this would be amazing fragrance,if it would last longer. Opening blast of spices and some kind of fruits is awesome. Love it so much.. but unfortunately it doesn't last on my skin more than two hours.

TheCandyperfumegirl

Back in 2019 I tried a few samples of Van Cleef & Arpels perfumes. And the one I instantly added to my wishlist was Rose Rouge. It's because even after using so many rose Fragrances Rose Rouge was nothing like anything that I've ever smelt before. It's pleasant, unique and enticing. Hence, I finally added the full bottle to my collection last month. Now here are my thoughts after using this for a decent amount of time.
Upon initial spray I can smell the burst of blackberry with bergamot & rose. Gradually the bergamot fades away and the blackberry becomes more prominent along with pink pepper, jammy juicy rose and some powdery chocolate vibe in the background. At the same time the musk and the vetiver are balancing the fragrance from becoming overly sweet or syrup-y. Along with time the Fragrance turns into a beautiful thick juicy jammy rose with patchouli, vanilla and cacao.
Now if you check other reviews on this Fragrance you'll see some Users compare the drydown with Giorgio Armani Si. I agree that there are some similarities because of the presence of Rose, blackberry & Patchouli but Rose rouge is more unique because of the presence of the Cacao. Also some people compare it with Lancome Roses Berberanza. Honestly I don't think they have any similarities except the thick juicy jammy rose. Now comes the comparison with Delina; I don't know how people find them similar. The only common thing you may find is the rose and vanilla. But I don't feel that they are similar in any way. Then again we all perceive smells in our own way. That's why it is better to be the judge by yourself.
I love Rose Rouge because I find it really unique than any other rose fragrances. It's not overly fresh,sweet,boozy,oud-y or spicy. It's a perfectly balanced fruity juicy jammy rose with a kick of cacao;
absolutely exceptional. But yes if you love fragrances like Giorgio Armani Si, PDM Delina, Lancome La nuit Tresor A La Folie, Nina Ricci L'extase Rose Absolu then I think you can give Rose Rouge a try because I find it more wearable for regular use as it's really versatile and absolutely inoffensive.

nordic.girl

I got it in the mail today, I sprayed it and... it was instant LOVE, on its way to becoming one of my all-time favorites. For the record, I'm generally a lover of all rose-based fragrances, and I have a thing for the rose-rasperry combo. I especially enjoy chocolate, cacao and hazelnut spread notes, so this sounded right up my alley. When I saw it heavily discounted... it had to be mine! 😍

So let's get right down to it: PERFORMANCE. Now: I don't know if I'm the lucky one who happens to have a bottle from the good batches (it would surprise me, I actually bought a heavily discounted bottle), but performance on my skin - and on clothes - IS unexpectedly GOOD! 💪 I realize that for most people it was not the case; but as for me, I sprayed 6 times (which is quite generous, I'll grant that: 2x on the neck, 2x on decollté and 2x on my wrist), ...and after 4+ hours I could still get whiffs of it WHILE WEARING A MASK at the supermarket. Now, after 7+ hours, I can still smell it on my skin and on the bathrobe I was wearing when I first sprayed it. I don't know about you, but I consider this really good performance! Sillage and projection are not beast mode (thank god for that), but considering that I could smell it through the mask, I would say that you can at least perceive it at arm's length. I can't say much to the compliments factor because I was all by myself, but I'll update the review once I get any comments.

What I am not particularly fond of, though... are the opening notes, with a VERY predominant pink pepper, which smells too aromatic and spicy for my taste. It's well made though, it feels as if I was in a kitchen, smelling freshly grounded pepper and sage (yes, I smell a lot of sage too!). I could visualize my parents' kitchen and with a pot full of stew boiling, and my parents adding the final touch with fresh sage and pepper. Yes, it was THAT visual 😅 (and strong, as a smell). Luckily, that fades relatively quickly, I would say after 30-45 minutes, making space to my favorite chocolate and gourmand notes, so it doesn't bother me too much. 🍫 As for the rose, it's much, MUCH more predominant in the dry-down, and the pleasant smell lingers for quite a while.

🌹 I can see where the comparisons with Delina 🌸 and Delina Exclusif 🌸 are coming from, but to me the fragrances are still quite distinct and different, mainly due to Rose Rouge's spiciness and its gourmand notes. If you like rose, it's worth owning both. I would say that Delina (OG and Exclusif) and Rose Rouge are similar ONLY if we exclusively compare their dry-down phases (e.g. in both Rose Rouge and Delina Exclusif's dry down you get a similar vanilla vibe, to name one). If I had to pick one, with me being a gourmand lover, I would definitely choose Rose Rouge over the two Delinas, because it has that kick of chocolate in the middle notes that makes it sexy, more complex and less linear than Delina, but it also has that fabulous vanillic, rosey, raspberry-filled dry-down. I'm in love!

📅 In terms of versatility, I would use it all year round and all times of day. The raspberry makes it fresh enough for daytime, but then chocolate and vanilla make it suitable for nighttime. I can see it performing well in cold and in warm climates, maybe sprayed a little lightly in the latter case, but otherwise its versatility is another plus. All in all, it's hard to go wrong with this fragrance and if you like rose, it's quite a safe blind-buy, as long as you don't mind the spicy opening and the gourmand middle notes. If you enjoyed Angel Muse because of the hazelnut note, but you think it's too strong, then this could be an alternative. Also, if you don't like Angel Muse because of patchuoli, but like the hazelnut and chocolate (and rose), you could try this one, I'm pretty sure it won't disappoint you. 😊

Tay@To

This is an absolutely gorgeous, well-blended, boozy, spicy, rose scent. So happy to have it in my collection. I'm so happy to have gotten rid of my Montale Intense Cafe and have this instead. That one was too cloying for me, and Rose Rouge sits closer to the skin and is not too loud, which is my personal preference.

Joseph78

This was my first try at a full-on rose fragrance and I was somewhat reluctant to try.

It begins with a light citrus and berry burst and it does stick around for a minute or two.

It then begins to change and become earthy and slightly medicinal (not in a annoying way), dont be put off by this, as again, the scent develops further.

Ten minutes in and the Rose says a big hello! It's a juicy rose and in my mind it's a red one! There's now a sweetness that also joins the rose in the base. There is still that earthiness there in the background from the Vetiver along with a gentle soft musk, but its needed, to ground the vanilla Rose fragrance and it stops it from being too sweet.

It's really wonderful... Van Cleef have managed to create a beautiful, interesting, Rose smelling scent, without the predictable boozy note to create dimension... or the...quite common 'Oudy' Rose scents out there!

I'm totally sold!

fawneyed_sita

I have never smelled Roses Berberanza but this smells like a sweet, zesty rose. I do get the pepper from the opening, giving this a little sharpness and freshness. I like this contrast between the sweet rose heart and the peppery notes, it keeps you sniffing and it's different from all the other jammy fruity roses on the market, a sweet/zesty rose mix. Nothing spectacular to warrant the price tag for me though. This has nothing in common with Delina to me, which is more citrus and tart and soapy (well now smelling them I'm reminded of how incredible Delina smells). It's like a zesty version of La Nuit Tresor to me. Maybe I'm just a lover of rose perfumes because I kind of want all three...

8/10 really pleasant and maybe I will add it to my collection eventually...

nadiiine

This is a sweet fruity and floral fragrance that dries down to a syrupy vanilla & rose after around 2 hours. Longevity and sillage aren't so great unless you spray a ton of this on, but I'd advise against it cause this could get a bit cloying imo. Don't get me wrong I really do like this, but it's not one of my favorites. I wear this in the office sometimes and it's lovely as long as you don't overspray.

Jacqueline7nt

A very sweet, juicy, fruity (raspberry) rose with a hint of citrus and I think I can smell the cacao. The dry down is a sweet rose musk. A beautiful bed time scent. Sweet and innocent and stays the whole night, pulsating when you wake up, especially if you spray in the fold of your arm. I think this is a safe blind buy.

lorihollie

Absolutely stunning. Total dupe of Roses Berberanza by Lancome in the opening (which was the reason why I bought it). The dry down is not as juicy as Roses Berberanza however. Personally I love it. Worth every penny instead of buying Roses Berberanza.

kat716

its a candied rose scent. Minimal sillage and longevity. Not worth the price tag.

Cherry_Darling

A basic beginning (think: Chloe) goes on to become a nicer, slightly tropical fruity floral, I smell something refreshing in here (mint? maybe the vetiver) and nutty cocoa which to me doesn't fit into this perfume. A bit all over the place, not a like for me. Haven't been impressed by Van Cleef Arpels as of yet, I've tried 4 and without fail they have had one strange note or another that ruined the experience.

Forbiddenjade

I tested California Reverie, Moonlight Patchouli (which I prefer to this for winter time) and both this and Rose Velour (now discountinued, it seems) - indeed a very good concoction.
BUT.
Sillage at 4ft for 5 minutes, then it goes down to skin scent.
AND.
Longevity here is an issue to me, as non existent!

For this price, and such amazing work, I am expecting more. As in MORE, because here there's little to be happy about, even in hot days when generally scents perform a bit better. Such a pity!!!

I am definitely heartbroken.

Kots_Tanya

This is absolutely gorgeous Rose, Benzoin, Sweet Vanilla, Raspberry addicting smelling frgarance. Its like Orchidee Vanille Rose Edition. It gourmand, I can smell cocoa powder and raspberry. It is similar to Lancomes Roses de Parfait but yet different. It definitely a gem in Van Cleef & Arpels fragrance collection. If you love your jammy sweet rose, you have to try it. Its beautiful. And another successful blind buy for me.
Also slightly reminds me of Original La Nuit Tresor from Lancome. Has similar vibe to it. Love.

myname

Lovely! Reminds me of Roses Berbaranza by Lancome but a summery slightly toned down version of it. Makes me happy. Could be a wedding fragrance too I think.

dsty

I was negatively disposed toward Rose Rouge before I tested it: I read that this one replaced Rouge Velours, which I recently tested and liked very much, and which in my opinion didn't need replacing. But having tested this one, I have to say it's even better, and although it's still a shame about Rose Velours, this is the one I would have kept in my collection if I had to choose only one as well.

I always love a good gourmand rose, and this just might be the ultimate one for me. It's just as soft and luscious as Rose Velours, with the same wonderful, realistic, deep red rose at its heart, but this one is less green and instead fruitier and sweeter and more overtly gourmand. It smells just absolutely delicious, and super well balanced: the lovely jammy rose/berry combination is perfectly complemented by the more powdery sweetness of cacao and vanilla, and the woody base keeps the gourmand aspect from going overboard without being too obtrusive in itself. That's the most admirable thing about this fragrance: despite it being one of the most delicious scents I've ever smelled, it's restrained enough that I could wear it almost anywhere including professional settings, and in almost any type of weather, without it becoming overwhelming. I love Lancôme's rose gourmands, for instance, and this one is indeed a little reminiscent of those, but they could easily feel much too conspicuous for some context, and on a warm day they could easily become too much. That's much less the case for this softer, subtler, friendlier rose: the only time I wouldn't consider it is during the hottest days of summer.

So I have to say I just love Rose Rouge - I'm so glad I have a big decant in my collection, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a big bottle at some point!

CutHere

I love this! Definitely understand the references to Delina, I find this more natural though, a more realistic rose with less fruit, more simplified. Sweet and tart at the same time, delicious. Feel like I'm in on a little secret having discovered this one 🙂

joseffgabriel

Reminds me of Mancera Roses Vanille. This is in the same alley as Montale Intense Cafe. Having both is redundant but must to have both if you love rose. My moms initial reaction is that it smells deluxe and expensive.

iszzieanna

This fragrance is for a more mature woman. I’d say it smells very motherly but yet I’m not a mother and I still wear it. It’s a very delicate yet elegant, rose-powdery- makeup scent. When I sprayed it I got a blast of bergamot but no black currant. Drying down I get lots of powdery, jammy rose.

There is something about it that smells like Delina, Roses Vanille, Intense Cafe, any rose scent but is definitely no dupe for any

If you are worried that it’s overly sweet, it’s not. It’s nothing like black opium or any crowd pleasers. But I don’t think the fragrance is original or worth buying full price.

Miruna

Liya.Si's review below is insanely accurate!
I read the reviews here before testing it and couldn't agree more with hers.
I instantly remembered the review about the theatre with red velvet seats when sniffing my wrist!

It was love at first sniff and I even dare to say I found a new favourite. I literally can't get enough! I don't even use much of the other fragrances since buying this one.

The main players are rose and cacao and I absolutely love the combination. I can also detect fruity notes, vanilla, benzoin, vetiver and a tonned down patchouli. Lasts a few good hours on skin and a lot more on clothes.
I am in love. So, so happy to have discovered it!

Liya.Si

This perfume is sweet and intoxicating but not a teenager sweet scent. Imagine old theatre with red velvet seats and a lady with long soft wavy hair falling down. There is a red roses bouquet in her arms that had been given to her at a cafe before the play. Now imagine mixing these different smells in your mind: the cafe, the rose, the sweet croissant and the cake they've been eating at the cafe and at last the luxury but old theatre. It is very well made scent, it is refine and real, it's not synthetic in anyway. It is easy to fell in love with but it is original the same way.

fleche

This is such an underrated, gorgeous rose scent. My signature fragrance is POAL however it can be a little too heavy of a fragrance in the spring/summer months and that is when I grab for Rose Rouge. It's fresh, slightly fruity and sweet, then an hour later the vetiver comes out to play while the rose and the other notes are still apparent creating such a yummy invigorating scent.

raiza1990

Very pleasant, feminine, soft, clear. And just a bit spicy. A bit sweet too, but nothing overpowering. A very nice fragrance for rose fans or for anyone looking for a girly and elegant fragrance. Sillage is soft, longevity is moderate.
Final note: 7/10

AnnaThePerfumeFreak

The opening - reminding me of a delightful champagne or a high quality rosé wine - has made me fall badly for this fragrance.

Very cheerful. Incredibly enchanting. Totally classy.

saatwik

A tart, sweet rose with spice and a faint greenness. Reminiscent of a rose preserve we have in South Asia called gulkand. Dries down to rosy vanilla. Probably my favorite of the Collection Extraordinaire series that I've tried - really unique treatment of rose. Projection - 7/10, longevity - 8/10.

cocofluff

I'm sampling Rose Rouge today. This smells like a tart and fruity rose that gets muskier over time. It has a nice fizzy, fresh character that lasts for a pretty good while, like >2 hours. It smells really good to me and I'm really enjoying my travel spray. This actually reminds me of Delina, but at a far better price point! Unfortunately this is sold out at my favorite online discounter. -

M_safar

A very great rose based fragrance, smells super natural and soft, not loud rose or disturbing I am male and don’t mind wearing it even though many men would consider this feminine it’s really nice I totally suggest it
Although I am not certain about the silage and longevity but give it a try it’s great !

A tart Parfait de Roses. The Lancome concoction has a subtle creaminess that envelopes the wearer - that doesn’t exist in RR, this one has the bite of a crisp green apple or super tart berries.
Sweet and sour, the black currant definitely overwhelms the Rose.
Overall not bad, a like but not a love from me. Average sillage and longevity.

supernice blend.
starts off with a fruity fresh rose blast, second phase is like a rose infused face cream and the drydown is slightly powdery spicy patch rose. Smells classy all the way, no harshness or candy bebop. Sophisticated and effortlessly feminine. Rare gem.

it starts as chloe for me but dries down into intense cafe by montale. perfect, my favourites

This is great! I get rose in the opening followed by a slightly sweet-spicy warm smell which I later realised must be the cacao. After a few minutes the blackcurrant comes out and gives the scent a really nice tart fruity aspect. Blackcurrant has such a distinctive smell as a perfume note and it is a note I don't always get along with - for instance I sampled Miller Harris' Cassis en Feuille a while ago and did not like the cassis note in there at all. I also never much liked Hermes' Amazone which I think has cassis in it as well. But I recently came across L'Ombre Dans L'Eau and there I could finally appreciate it.

Anyway, to come back to Rose Rouge, here I do really like the blackcurrant note - perhaps because it's the fruit and not the blackcurrant leaf? Or maybe it's just the combination with the other notes. Who knows. All I know is that I really like this fragrance. It's a beautiful combination of rose, blackcurrant and cacao, with a little undercurrant of benzoin to give it a sweetness and roundness. I'm not generally the hugest fan of gourmand fragrances but this seems to give off a sort of semi-gourmand vibe to me, with the combination of the slight sweetness, the chocolatey base of the cacao and the slightly fruity blackcurrant. It makes me want to eat one of those fancy dark chocolate and raspberry brownies that you might find in an expensive patisserie.

Great rose scent. Nothing like Si Armani absolutelly nothing. I am in love. I feel roses, but not old lady roses. I am happy to have it and it was blind buy.

We were off to a good start: the opening was a lovely rose with bitter cocoa powder in the background. Sort of powdery and with the promise of something sweet. This blissful opening lasted only for a few minutes though, and then the fruity berry notes became more and more noticeable. It was still lovely, but I started to notice something unpleasant. I was hoping that it would go away, but as the perfume dried down it became more noticeable.

The smell was very familiar and it took me a while to realize while: the drydown is very similar to Armani Si's patchouli and cassis infused drydown. Cassis and blackcurrant rarely works on me and it feels like Armani and VC&A may use the same source for these ingredients.

So, based on my personal experience, I'd like to warn those of you who reacted badly to Si: you may not enjoy Rose Rouge either. I hope you will, but be careful. I'd love to know what the drydown smells on someone whose skin agrees with this perfume.

From a tester: my opinion is that this is the sweet and fruity version of the more classic Rose Velours from the same house. It is very feminine. I can smell tThe rose, which is very present and persistant, and the black currant. After a while the patchouli comes in.
I don't think there is anything innovative or original in this perfume, but I find it very pleasant because I love patchouli and rose-based scents.
