Got this one recently and I must say: I absolutely love it.

I expected it to be heavier and maybe a bit woodier, but it is actually very nice and soft. The initial spray packs a punch with loads of sharp cardamom, but it quickly settles down into an almost sunscreen-like scent within five minutes. I don't quite know how to describe it, it kind of smells like coconut, but not overwhelmingly. Kind of like you applied a very luxurious sunscreen at a spa (you know, with the woody sauna scent).

After about an hour or so, the creaminess goes away a bit, and you're left with a lightly woody amber vibe. Heavy on the sandalwood, which I typically don't go for but was pleasantly surprised with. It lasts for about 5 to 6 hours, with medium sillage.

I wouldn't say this is an extremely 'sexy' perfume, more comforting. Not a safe blind buy, since I feel you would get disappointed if you were hoping for a heavier, sharper scent. If you strongly dislike sandalwood, you should definitely stay away since it's very present in the dry down.

I can see myself wearing this all year round.

This is a very unique fragrance for me, unlike any other designer fragrance I smelled. It's fresh but warm and sweet at the same time. When you first spray it you mostly get the fresh spicy notes and as it dries down it becomes sweeter and you can smell the coconut. Some people don't get the coconut in it but I can totally smell it and that's one reason I like it, I love coconut in perfumes.
Besides the smell, the longevity and sillage is also excellent. I have never seen an EDT that lasts this long. Also most of my EDPs don't last this long. You can smell it on your skin for a long time, but on clothes you can basically smell it until the next wash. And this EDT is very affordable for how well it performs.

blood-dorm

Reviewing this again after almost a year! I like this slightly more than the EDP version because the pepper-ginger is not prominent, immediately gives the tropical ice cream vibe. BUT, when it dries after some few hours it smelled like play-doh on the skin. EDP doesn't have that plasticky quality. Fortunately the play-doh scent is gone/refreshed after being splashed with water

Princess__manatee

This is my favourite Versace, I normally never get EDT for longevity however this lasts all day on my skin, it’s also beautiful for layering. I layered this with Bare by Victoria’s Secret and my husband was following me around our home sniffing me telling me how good I smelled

sandraaalindgren

Okay. First of all. This is NOT a compliment getter (I wear this for myself only). Second of all. This does NOT have any coconut in it (that’s the edp so don’t mix that up). Third of all. I LOVE THIS SCENT! I put this fragrance on every night before I go to bed when I’m by myself, to calm me down and feel all cozy. This smells super spicy and fresh at the same time, it’s very hard to explain. Definitely not a blind buy, try it first! It’s pretty sexy but more on the mature side. I’d call it unique for sure! And for an edt it has amazing lasting power.

grcdozstf

The EDP is more peppery than the EDT but has more coconut. I like this one more than the EDT. I pair it with a coconut fragrance oil. Sexy night scent.

emeliyuh

Blind bought this a few years ago. I didn't enjoy it at first but it quickly became a personal favorite. It's like Bright Crystal's sexier, wiser older sister. It's woody and smokey but also clean and crisp in the same breath. One of those designer scents that really doesn't smell like anything else. Get compliments everywhere I go.

Without a doubt, best fragrance Versace ever released! Not that I have tried every single scent they ever made, but from what they still sell currently Crystal Noir EDT is their most outstanding creation! Sophisticated, addictive, surprising! Iconic!

Launched two decades ago, it could be considered a modern classic at this point. It’s such an unusual, distinctive, unique blend of woody, spicy, tropical, floral, ambery, musky notes! In my opinion, this has the same distinctive scent trail like the original Alien by Mugler (they don’t smell similar) and both of them have maintained the desirability and charm throughout the decades. Let’s say that they aged well like a fine wine…

Crystal Noir EDT opens very warm, spicy. The gardenia from the heart notes it’s the prominent flower on me. Call me crazy, but I smell coconut in this… Sandalwood feels so soft, smooth, relaxing. The amber is mostly in the background, adding more warmth and grounding the spices and the flowers.

At first glance, all these notes are found in most of the perfumes sold nowadays, but the way that Mr Lie blended and carefully balanced everything creates something truly special and unique! This is one of those fragrances that I can’t really describe into words how beautiful, deep and intriguing smells! It’s powdery, light, soft and airy but it lasts and performs beautifully. Very versatile, year round wearable.

Although it’s an EDT, my bottle of Crystal Noir performs surprisingly good. It’s long lasting, about 8-9 hours on clothing and projects intensely for the first two hours. For such an unique scent with great performance, Crystal Noir offers amazing value for money! It’s way cheaper than most of the designers scents these days but smells 100 times better!

This is a gorgeous fragrance and quite unique in my experience! I know nothing similar to this besides the EDP version of it. I have never smelled anything like it before. Smells fresh and spicy, floral and beachy, mysterious and lures you in. It’s enchanting!

Dimanta

Not my type of perfume. Reminds me old lady. Very mature smell. Not impressed.

Suicidal_wizard

Lovely creamy peppery scent but PLEASE stop telling people this in any form is similar to Gris Charnel. No. Just no!!

PhantomBelle

The performance of this EDT is *outstanding*, I have several parfums that don't do as well as this. This isn't quite as airy/creamy as the EDP, I get a lot more pepper and ginger with this right from the start. After a while the middle florals start to show up, the gardenia and orange blossom are very pleasant. The base notes are there in the background adding to the harmony beautifully. A complex warm floral-amber-musk, I highly recommend it.

If you find the EDP too intense, do try this one out. Blind buy? No, I would try this one. Work safe? It's borderline for me. Maybe.
Purchased from: Ulta.

3 words for this: Mysterious, Sophisticated, and Expensive-smelling.

I bought it because people kept pointing out that it had a nice, soapy smell to it. I sprayed in on me in the daytime and was kinda disappointed as the opening notes were too spicy for me. But then the spiciness toned down, and it transitioned into a creamy-coconutty (I swear I find traces of coconut in it) scent. I thought the scent profile to be interesting but not that special to wow me. But throughout the day, I kept sniffing myself because there was something so comforting in the scent that I couldn't point it out.

At night, I thought of giving it another spray on my skin, and that's when I actually smelled the soapy aspect of it. Then it transitioned into that coconut-ish smell, but it didn't smell like cheap coconut at all. It was very well done. Then the sandalwood note came through and changed the game completely! I went from "meh" to "damn that smells really good" mood instantly. I don't know if my body chemistry changed at night, but it smelt completely different on my skin at night than it did in the day.

I just know this would be my perfume for special nights (I personally think it suits as an evening-nighttime fragrance). Crystal Noir just gives me that expensive vibe. I picture a mysterious and sophisticated woman in her black dress wearing this scent. Gotta go, have to sniff myself again!

My miniature has :
Fig
Black currant
Violet
Tuberose
Frangipani
Jasmine
Sandalwood
Cashmeran
Vanilla pod
And heliotropine

It says eau de toilet .

Didn’t find it here on FRAGRANTICA unfortunately.

Who can tell me which noir I have ?
Thanks 🙏🏻

gressssie

I don’t love the spicy notes in the beginning but once it dries down, it’s creamy, ambery, musky, and sexy. Reminds me something Stevie Nicks would wear a.k.a dark witchy vibes 🌓

orphangirl

Bought a travel size of this as the notes are right up my alley. When I first sprayed it I found it sickening and was sad I bought it. But wait. Wait! Half an hour later I’m enveloped in a creamy, soft, sultry spice with a distinct floral wrap and a back-end of sandalwood and oh yeah. This is a very nice, very classy fragrance that shines under its dark exterior. I’m a fan of Bright Crystal and of course that is a very different experience but somehow that makes it unsurprising that I’m also Crystal Noir’s fan. They both offer a rich, comforting experience. Go me.

Gabizz

The notes are correct! As per official website, notes are:
Top: Cardamom, pepper, ginger
Heart: Gardenia, peony, orange flower
Base: Amber, sandalwood, musk

So the EDP has all of the above + coconut 🥥

Vickykin

It's my addiction! Such a sexy and spicy scent OMG! It's so unique! Loove it! I even wear it at home even though I didn't plan to go out🤭 It's that much addictive girls:)!
The scents that I get on my skin are like warm spicy musky white floral mix with a hint of kinda fruity:) just a wow perfume for me:) suits my personality perfectly ☺️ definitely my signature one;)

LisaJane97

This is a mysterious, interesting fragrance that I have the connotation with summer evenings, being on a holiday, far away from home…the spiciness adds to that feeling. Ive loved the Bright Crystal for many years now and still do😍, but I think I actually might buy this one also, because it’s unique and alluring.🌃🌅

monamushroom

I get a very fresh spicy opening, and very little cardamom, more like a ginger-y flower. The musc is very prominent, but it is a warm comforting musc and not a screechy fresh one.

I dont get the coconut at all, and nothing tropical either, but I have a bottle from 2014 so it may have evaporated from my bottle :p

The sensual and romantic vibe some people claim this has I dont really understand either, this is a comforting and safe fragrance like a big warm hug from an aunt or your mom, an elegant and classy scent.

Yes Malena

Pepper, saliva (sorry), attractive scent of dried flowers, sandalwood. Very slight hint of rosiness (peony) at opening which does not last. Lightest gardenia and cardamom are more lasting in the scent, on base of pepper and creamy sandalwood.
From a mini splash edt with batch code dated to 2020-01-27.
Doesn't work for me, but it's very nice. Very personal. Adaptable to most situations, but with an understated twist of sexuality.

katie02kat

It's a very nice subtle evening scent, for me it works for all seasons,Frangipani, Jasmine, violet, Tuberose add a wonderfully floral and light touch. It's amazing 🌸

Coccobacillius

I love this fragrance! On me it turns sweet after a while, which I don’t mind because I love sweet fragrances. It’s like a woody clean perfume, it’s smells like if I came out of the shower. It’s smells clean, but also it’s not a generic “shampoo-like” perfume. I was debating if I want a full size bottle, but I’ve used like 10 samples from this and I decided to commit to a full size bottle. It’s on a of a kind perfume in my opinion, not a safe blind buy if you don’t like powdery and woody fragrances. I personally do not like woody perfumes but this one is unique. Although it’s EDT, it’s quite long lasting (about 8 hours easily) and it’s amazing. I can definitely smell coconut out of it even though it’s not listed as an ingredient, but it’s not a cheap, sunscreeny coconut (I absolutely despise D&G Dolce Garden and Mugler Alien Goddess) it’s a mature, kind of fresh coconut. I absolutely in love with this.

scnofthcrime

A surprising fragrance. On me this is a woody, white floral that is still airy and light. You must love sandalwood to like this. Not very sweet. The coconut isn't very noticeable on me, but it probably helps the whole thing feel creamy. Also phenomenal lasting power and projection for a EDT. So good I double checked to make sure it wasn't the EDP. Like I said previously, I found this one quite surprising. It's really not what I expected based on the name and bottle, but quite nice. I could see this being a signature for the right person.

cottonpuff_

Surprisingly I love this scent. I can't particularly pick out any standout notes, since they all blend together so well. It smells clean, but not in an astringent way. Soapy mixed with some floral notes and a pinch of sweetness. Lasts the whole day on me with only 2-3 sprays. It becomes even more smooth in the dry down. I think this can be worn any season and any occasion.

Nico Robin would wear something like this :)

Perfume_junkie_UK

Someone just summed this up on me perfectly...

Dr pepper, musky, soil/earth and a very very small note of coconut.

I actually like this frag.

anna222

My favourite perfume EVER. It’s unique, i’ve never smelt anything similar, It’s strong and lasts well. It’s coconut, woody, creamy with nice florals and a bit peppery. It’s just perfect. It’s feminine and great for evening wear and fits any season but i’d say mainly autumn? Ugh its just so good and I’ll forever repurchase it

Scorpio Queen

I bought a sample of this, loved it immediately and then purchased a large bottle, the only problem being I got the EDP by mistake. Although they smell like the same scent, the EDP to me is overwhelmingly strong and overpowering. I can't bear to wear it on my skin as it's too cloying.

Crystal Noir edt is a far lighter scent in comparison to the edp, and for me that makes all the difference. This is a gorgeous fragrance and quite unique in my.opinion, I've never smelled anything like it before. It's clean and fresh, spicy and a tad smoky, tropical, beachy, mysterious, alluring, and very sexy. Definitely a scent that will get you noticed. If you are wearing this, I'd imagine others would want to come closer and inhale you deeply lol. It's intoxicating!

SaraSmellsGood

The perfume that reintroduced me to adulthood in fragrances.. it smelled somewhat “niche like” to me .. those figs (not listed) cardamom, black pepper are doing a magical job.

insu

The first spray is quite strong and spicy. But wait for about 10-20 minutes and this perfume will give you that creaminess and woodiness. This smells like you have just got out of shower, and you smell your shampoo, conditioner, soap, and shower gel all at once. And the products you've used have coconut in their ingredients. I would say the longevity is great for an EdT. Better than some EdP's out there and more affordable. Great value for price.

skm50

Smells similar to Gris Charnel and performs better and is half the cost. I don't care for the ginger opening, but it goes away quickly, and then after that, it's a cozy woody floral vanilla fig that is just a delight to smell. Has nice projection without being offensive and lasts impressively long for an EDT, 6-8 hours on me. Perfect for winter and fall, but I could wear this any time of year that's how much I like it.

lulu169

The official notes:

TOP: blackcurrant, fig, violet
HEART: tuberose, frangipani, jasmine
BASE: sandalwood, cashmeran, vanilla, heliotropine

Olfactive family: oriental-floral

Please Fragrantice, correct the notes here they are COMPLETELY WRONG!!!!

StardustMoonsong

I got a sample of the edt last year and when I first smelled it, it was so soapy and overwhelmingly floral to me. I was NOT a fan. I just tried it again and I can't believe how much I like it now! It's still soapy and floral, but there's a creaminess there too. Now the florals smell a bit sweeter which helps immensely because I am not big on floral notes unless they're on the sweeter side. I swear I smell a hint of coconut or something mildly nutty even though on my sample card, I don't see any notes like that. I think I will get a couple more samples to try before committing to a full size bottle.

mea194

I love this scent a lot. It’s an easy to reach for fragrance that I can grab for any season or time of day. It’s deep and floral with a little sweetness. It smells clean yet sophisticated and I see why so many say it has a “vampire like vibe”. I tried the sample first and honestly the notes are a bit different than what is listed here to me. In addition to gardenia and some amber I notice a lot of powdery orchid and the violet and jasmine stand out a lot to me. I can’t really single out the coconut too much. The sweet definitely comes out more during the dry down. It has a long last for a EDT. The price is amazing for this gem and the bottle design is so pretty, feels great to hold and spray. It’s nice to have a scent I can always fall back on and count on!

Nipon

Does this perfume have a good sillage and longevity like EDP? If not which one is better?

Yosa

Crystal Noir EDT is such a soothing, warm, soul-healing scent... Earthy, mysterious... Intoxicating, different... It smells like the dark parts of the forest, not green... Not heavy or cloying. So well blended.. It's one of those perfumes that takes you on a journey when you smell it.

Mariana_1965

To me this smells like a watery ginger-coconut-shampoo concoction, not quite what I was expecting from the notes and reviews. I generally love spicy scents but this is too bland. A disappointing blind buy.

lolllee2nd

I think I finally understand when people say a fragrance is "soapy" because unfortunately Crystal Noir smells like a creamy, moisturizing conditioner. The longevity is virtually zero on me and I can only smell it after 15 minutes if I put my nose on my skin.

I tried the EDT too and it had more longevity, silage and more complexity on me but sadly also none of the coconut I was so looking forward to. The EDT was the matching shampoo to the EDP conditioner.

Neither were bad and some people like soapy scents. They aren't the warm spicy or fruity spicy scent I prefer.

Both scents get a little more spicy and warm in the drydown. EDP looses the coconut and a soft spicy wood note dominates which I like better than the shampoo, while the EDT turns to playdoh.

Glyceryl

Do not let the opening scare you off! When first sprayed the first thing that came to mind was “mouthwash”. It’s very sharp at the beginning, but once it settles after about 5 minutes it transforms into a sophisticated, cozy, beautiful and unique aroma. I’ve never smelled anything like this. This has been a compliment getter for me - from both men and women.

Suigintou

Waay too masculine for me, I'd say this it definitely at least unisex. Smells like some generic men's cologne. At the opening, at least. But I still kinda like this, because after it settles down a little it kinda gives me some tropical beach hotel at night time -vibes and smells very mysterious. (I really don't know where these images always come to my head lol) Sadly seems to be a little headache inducing to me. Very weird perfume, I definitely need to test this a few more times to see if it grows on me :D

Giedre36

Not safe for blind buying. Annoying and gives me headaches.

hant_honey

When I first sprayed this on a tester in the store, I thought, yuck, so I just put it in my pocket (perfume tester hoarder). I then brought it home to my mum and made her smell it and surprisingly, she found it really good. She said this smelled 'cold' when you smelled it, and I very much agreed with her on that. The spices make it fresh, not warm or syrupy sweet. I let it sit for a few hours and when I smelled it again, it was such a beautiful scent. I don't see coconut listed in the notes, but I definitely smelled something like coconut milk or water. Imagine fresh coconut milk graced with subtle and gentle white flowers and then a splash of fresh and intoxicating spices. IT SMELLS EXPENSIVE. It's not sweet, but fresh. It doesn't smell juvenile, but it smells expensive and luxurious. I feel like the type of woman to wear this is very confident, bold and has incredibly good taste in perfume. I tried to imagine talking and then suddenly getting a waft of this perfume. My thoughts were I would definitely chase the person wearing it. I can see how people can perceive it as granny-ish, but TRUST ME, JUST WAIT, because the drydown is the most beautiful blend of notes. Will be my signature scent.

coraline28

Perfect for a date night🥰 It's my night signature scent but I wear it during the day in autumn/winter as well. But not a safe blind buy! (The pepper & sandalwood might be too much for some people)
What I think about it:
- quite great sillage and longevity (better than edp on my skin)
- as if you came out of an oriental spicy showed
- you either like it or not, it depends on the person. If you don't like sandalwood or pepper, don't buy it. However, it got me some compliments. I also think it depends on the culture/background. For example I have some friends from India who really like it but I think it might be because they are used to cooking with spices.
- It stands out. I would remember this smell. I just hope it doesn't get too popular like Carolina or others but for now I didn't smell it on anyone
- unfortunately, there is no coconut in the reformulated version. PLEASE ADD THE COCONUT BACK! WHY DID YOU TAKE IT OUT? I never got to smell the version with coconut but I can imagine how it could be more complex and better with coconut.
-NOT headache inducing and usually get headaches when the perfume is too strong in a bad way.

P.S. Does anybody know how I could layer this one? I wpuld like to add coconut or vanilla preferably :)

P.S. to the ones who make the perfume: please add coconut or vanilla

bafiis

People might say this is better in colder months, but I actually loved wearing in in summer. Especially hot summer evening. Just wow, I'm in love with this, great performance for etd. It was also my wedding scent so I mainly wear it for special occasions.

Sjess

Who would’ve thought that I would like a coconut scent?! And a winter version none the less! This is such a nice scent for autumn & winter, creamy spice with the aforementioned coconut. Not as present as in the edp but it is there and I really like it. Fir a mainstream fragrance it is very unique and the quality is outstanding. For an edt it has very good projection and longevity and it always gets me compliments.

Astrum.Obtutus

One of my signature scents, it's spicy, cold, dark and lovely, perfect for every occasion and for every season.

MrsJones7310

Tested this at Ulta today, and in the opening there is a brightness, almost citrus like that kind of reminds me of cleaner. Once it melds into the skin I get a big dose of peony and a very dry, spiced coconut. This is not a love for me unfortunately.

pureangelgirl

Beautiful, luxurious and expensive smell. I really enjoy this and I get lots of compliments on it. Moreover, I got a great deal on it at a duty free airport store. However, I find that I get bored of it easily.

Hannehoney

Wearing this today. I love it, its a bit hard to describe. Its fresh spicy woody. A bit strong in the beginning, but the drydown is so beautiful and soft. A bit sweet on my skin. I received many compliments and it stays for about 8-10 hours on my skin. It fills the room and I think you could wear it all year. One of my favorites :)

HippyDippy57

I was so wanting to like this EDT, and from the notes listed here I can only assume that I tried a post-reformulation version, because it opened with a smooth, slightly spicy scent with a hint of coconut, but quickly deteriorated with a synthetic, rubbery note which lasted about an hour, before a cosy sandalwood ending. My experience of this was that it didn't project or last for very long. Maybe I'll try and find the EDP and see if that gives me the perfume I want

AgnesEvaElise

This one smells like a fresh body mist, with notes of watery coconut, green leafs and some pepper. It’s soapy and subtle.

I think it’s nice for a rainy summer day

lovealwaysalisa

I'm pretty sure the EDT formulation was reformulated a year or 2 ago. Someone from Fragrantica needs to put up a new page for the most recent formulation. The new notes as listed on my sample card from Versace are as follows.
My card lists notes as...
Top: Blackcurrant, Black Fig, Violet
Heart: Tuberose, Frangipani, Jasmine
Dry Down: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla Pod, Heliotrope.

I like this new formulation just as much as the previous one. I've never been able to pick up coconut in this so I'm not missing it in this formulation either. Smells fresh spicy, a bit sweet from the blackcurrant and fig. A bit creamy in the drydown which is the best part of this one. I don't find it watered-down or a weaker version of the previous version....this does smell smoother to me though. I've never liked CN enough to purchase a full bottle, but the tweaks made to this newer formula I'm really enjoying. I will be picking up a full bottle in the near future. ❤️

YourFragranceFriend

Opens with spicy green cardamom, ginger, white florals, slight woodiness. It’s a strong scent. I don’t really enjoy it. I feel the deep purple bottle doesn’t fit the vibe of this fragrance. I’d put this in a white or green bottle.

This is compared to Jo Malone Dark Amber and Ginger Lily. Smelling them side by side, the Jo Malone is more earthy, natural, and humid smelling. The Versace is punchier, brighter, stronger. There’s something in the Versace that goes unpleasant to my nose. Like baby wipes or bug spray. It depends on the temperature or weather but I just don’t like it. Where it wins over Jo Malone is price and longevity.

Sassafras23

The official sample card shows the following composition:
Top: blackcurrant, black fig, violet
Heart: tuberose, frangipani, jasmine
Dry down: sandalwood, cashmeran, vanilla pod, heliotropine

The opening is quite sharp, even a bit nose-drilling. So, I understand why other reviewers describe it as masculine. I also understand references to a coconutty nuance even though there’s none in the pyramid. Did the formula change and so radically that only one note remains in common between the two breakdowns? In fact, it does smell more like the Fragrantica top (black pepper, cardamom and ginger) than the top from the official card attached to my sample vial. I can’t detect any fruitiness, although the ozonic violet could be responsible for some of this sharpness. The more I think of this, the more I feel like this opening woody spiciness resembles SJP Stash. I expected it would change for the better in the heart, but nope I’m not noticing much development.

princessanna

This perfume was on my wish list for a while before even smelling it! I had gone to Ulta in an attempt to try it out but to my dismay the bottle was bone dry (which in my mind was a good sign) so when I stumbled upon it at TJ Maxx for a discounted price I had to buy it! After reading so many great reviews about this alleged “mysterious, sexy, tropical” scent, I was so excited to smell it!! I immediately unboxed the beautiful bottle in my car and sprayed it on my wrists. The minute I smelled the air my excitement faded. There is nothing special about this perfume, it smells like any other floral chemical headache inducing perfume! I’m trying to love it and I just can’t. It is doable when I layer a coconut perfume, but even then- why bother if it’s annoying to smell? Perhaps it’s my own skin chemistry, but even spraying this on a sweater and smelling it a day later.. it’s a no from me :( I should have not blindly bought this perfume and known better since it was discounted in a Minnesotan TJ Maxx.

wintersnow7

It's fine. Nothing special. It simply smells like generic perfume. Nothing particularly sticks out. It's floral with a bit of pepper. Its soapy and powdery. The dry down is better than the opening. It becomes slightly creamy. It does well layered with coconut perfumes. The longevity is good and the bottle is very pretty, but that's the best part. This is currently my least favorite in my collection.

Ihatecords

i need another bottle ASAP

I blind bought this (but in a very small and cute miniature version, and to be fair it could be a fake).
I've heard it described as a steamy room after taking a shower with expensive products or a spa.

But on me it just smells like tree. Tree oil, mosquito oil

jdb_

Hello Ginger!! Wow, I have mad respect for this fragrance as it’s not entirely crowd pleasing- very unique. This is spicy, fresh, sharp, and vivacious without any of the typical girly sticky sweetness on the base. The dry down does have some musky creamy sweetness, but it's more like a warming second skin type of scent that is very sexy. More signature worthy than suited to any particular occasion. I could see a boho babe beach-side with a cocktail dancing the night away with this scent, but I could also see someone like Olivia Pope wearing it to handle the elite. I need to get my nose on the EDP, but I have a feeling this one will be joining my collection.

Ps this literally projects in the shower so staying power is exceptional for an EDT.

AUyliong

Something about the florals in this remind me of L'Eau D'Issey for Women but replace the melon with fresh cut ginger.

Ginger scent makes this lean unisex rather than feminine. I've heard this described as the grown up goth girl's scent. So I was expecting something that compliments and doesn't stray far from Lalique's Encre Noir. It's not even in the same universe. Frankly the Encre Noir Sport does a better job of duping LDI for Women because of its dominant melon/grapefruit scent.

Perhaps the L'Eau D'Issey similarities is what's throwing people off because that frag already equate to 90's goth girl in people's minds. In any case, those similarities disappear as the frag drydown and all you're left with is a strong gourmand- fragrant ginger that reminds me of East and Southeast Asian cooking.

The girlie

I had a lot of compliments for this fragrance, This fragrance is one of my favorites in my collection, it's clean but yet spicy.
In my opinion, it is better than the Eau de perfume because it is much more pleasant to the nose.
this is not offensive at all, but at the same time, it has an addictive and unique clean and spicy scent.

also, it is an affordable fragrance with great production.
With great longevity and sillage.

It is worth trying if you are looking for a sexy fragrance, that you can wear every day.

sorry in advance if my English is a little bit off, I'm trying my best.

Jujas

Absolute opposite of what I had imagined this fragrance to be. Far from being oppressive or heavy, this beauty is a sparkling gem that literally made me smile upon first wearing it. The perfect balance of notes radiate the most elegant, refined and addictive scent; never becoming muddled by amber or musk, which is an accomplishment on my skin! I have trust issues with both of those notes as they tend to become exaggerated and overtake other notes. Not so with Crystal Noir EDT!!

The crisp punch of peony and orange blossom really shine. Ginger is there but with the subdued spiciness of cardomom and the lovely creaminess of sandlewood, it doesn’t take center stage.

This is most definitely a love at first sniff. Longevity is outstanding for an EDT. Crystal Noir, an aptly named fragrance. Like that of crystal reflecting moonlight; a dance of facets brighten and delight the shadows.

Call me clairvoyant because I can see a FB in my future!

Marilouparfemme

Call me crazy but i smell coconut and soap. In the background the spices are lingering. It's not what i imagined it to be.

figgypudding

Tested in-store. I got no tropical vibes, just a spiced take on white florals. Underwhelming and a bit headache inducing.

chavus

My latest acquisition, the EDT.
She's like a sexy mysterious shadow you follow down the street and never ever get to catch up with her.
I could not stop sniffing my wrists. Definitely not a perfume I thought existed, and it does. And I kinda love it because is nothing like the floral/fruity ones I always tend to reach out for.

Miss boudoir

Hello everyone 🤗 how are you doing?
I sprayed the other day the Versace crystal noir eau de toilette, second reformulation, and still a strong lasting formulation

I noticed that in the first half hour the memory of la panthere edition soir was blended with the creamy coconut gardenia combo in this perfume. Very interesting discovery ☺️

SheaNada

You’ve just had a spa like luxurious bathe, you’ve tip toed out the bathroom, slathered on a prestigious scented body milk and slipped on your black satin silk robe which compliment your loosely tousled hair… you’ve poured yourself some Pinot noir as you await your striking lover.

That’s Versace Crystal Noir ❤️

ni11

Absolute favourite, get loads of compliments wearing this. Sometimes I get clean, rich expensive soap from this, and other times I get the spices from this. Either way I'll take it; love this one loads and got backups already!

midnightcat

you and me.... forever

annikahuhd

I tried this today for the first time and OH MY GOD -- an instant LOVE! I agree with judearose123's comment that this smells like ""an upper class woman that uses high-end shower products"". So so so good without trying too hard. Strong for EDT, too.

Getting a full bottle asap.

arringtonm

someone in my class grabbed me and could NOT stop smelling me when i wore this 💀

natasha28

Versace Crystal Noir EDT (part of my sample says it's EDT and other parts say its the OG Crystal Nior!?)- It's okay, not gross but too meh. The fragrance notes on the sample are not the same as those on Fraganitca (based on these I thought I would love it). Anyway, the silage on this is very light, sits close to the skin(probably not worth the money IMO). I like the pink Crystal perfume, it's very floral and pretty. But I don't like this, when I first sprayed it I was excited, but then it dried down too faint. Idk if maybe my sample is old. There is the earthy spicy cardamon and I don't smell much else, maybe a bit mossy but not in a good way. I don't think this is a good flanker as I don't find it resembles Crystal at all. I love the bottle though. As it's dried I get a more float note, which is okay.Good for cooler months days or night. Not a safe blind buy, wouldn't buy or keep if gifted.

PlanetGrl

I enjoy it for its clean soapiness, but all the spicy, supposedly alluring notes are completely lost on me sadly. All I seem to get from the Versace scents I’ve encountered is the same (but pleasant) expensive shampoo scent. I experienced this with Dylan and Eros as well.

norvana

tanny_ups

This perfume is a masterpiece! No wonder why people prefer it over the EDP. It is long lasting, it’s sexy and seductive! The cardamom and musk blend so well that it feels like a second skin. I just adore it!

Jessiebaby

It was love at first sniff with this fragrance. It’s spicy, seductive, strong and everything I want in a scent. It has insane longevity.. I can still smell it on my skin after a hot shower and it smells potent on my clothing after being washed. I would suggest spraying lightly otherwise it can make you feel a bit heady. My husband was obsessed with this scent from the first time I wore it. The notes listed here are incorrect. The latest reformulation has notes of fig, blackcurrant, tuberose, frangipani, jasmine and vanilla. It’s simply divine.

judearose123

This fragrance turns heads. I wore 3-4 sprays of this to a New Years Party (I bought it the previous summer so it had macerating in my collection for a while) and it lasted throughout the entire night. I received several compliments and a woman asked me if I had touched it up several hours into the night because she could still smell it on me. It’s fresh, clean, unique and sophisticated. It doesn’t smell perfumey, this smells like an upperclass woman that uses high end shower products. I feel like this is a fragrance Bella Hadid would wear, with her chic black dresses & NYC street style.
Also, I bought this from Ulta in August of 2022 so I’m not sure what batch it is, all I know is that it’s the EDT and it’s 10/10.

catcat42

It's light and breezy on me yet all I get is pepper pepper pepper for so long then its gone..I have perfume eating skin and light perfumes usually tend to fly away instantly. I was hoping for a spa like soapiness but..I got pepper.

MaxieF

So the first time I purchased this i bought it off of mercari and I ended up decluttering it because though it smelled like I remember in store, it didn't last..i decided to purchase another bottle and this time I bought it from macys and it lasts forever and smells soooo much better. There are many really convincing fakes out there and I would suggest you buy it from somewhere guaranteed authentic. If you're having trouble with it lasting and you bought it on mercari it is most likely a fake...

Definitely unisex, all season day and night. It's so so beautiful and delicious. Creamy and fresh like you are the cleanest person ever. I personally wear this with casual clothing, sometimes even sweats and a messy bun.

joycefler

Out of all my perfumes, this is the one that gets the most compliment. As in every time I wear it. From cousins, aunts, guys, receptionists even security guards. lol. I wish it lasted longer. This is the type wherein it's very prominent when freshly or overly sprayed and mellows down the sillage after maybe 2 to 3 hours so I have to bring the bottle with me. I also over-spray this so it gets expensive.... but I love it so much.

this is my bed perfume as well as date perfume.

MareaCamacho

Really nice fragrance. I accidentally got the edp first and it was a different experience. It was much heavier and syrup like. This one is fresh and light ... like a boujie spa scent . It's something I'd wear at night to a beach party or a candle lit restaurant by the beach ... the kind that has tiki torches and I'm having a chi chi .. yummy. Again this is the edt not the edp.

betheljaviles

I am entirely enraptured by this unique scent! "Crystal Noir" absolutely lives up to the hype!!! The ultimate femme fatale scent: mysterious, enticing, sexy, dark, and sweetly seductive. Perfect for date nights and cold seasons--surprisingly, even summer nights! The coconut, amber, wood, and spicy notes stand out the most--I hardly get any florals on my skin, which is completely fine. I am also a huge fan of fig lately, so I'm not surprised that I fell in love at first sniff.

As far as performance, this one certainly makes its presence known! I have to be careful not to overspray because people can definitely smell me from quite a distance. Long-lasting!

chasingfragrance

I blind bought a small bottle of this from a 2018 batch. I had high hopes for this one, but after testing I genuinely don't understand the hype. My nose turns this into wet wipes + synthetic gardenia, and it's extremely nauseating. Not a safe blind buy I would say, based on my experience. I haven't had such a strong negative reaction to a perfume before!
It did last quite well for an EdT, about 5-6 hours I'd say. I gave it to my mom because it smells lovely on her. Just couldn't stand it on myself.

EDIT:
So, I got my hands on a newer formulation, and I feel like y'all are gonna hate me 🤣 but I love it, it works so much better with my skin chemistry. It makes me understand all the love for this fragrance. It lasts for around 7 hours with moderate to strong projection. Especially the first hour is quite intense, don't overspray or you'll choke lol. If you've never tried this before, I'd advise testing the older and newer formulation side by side if you can, and see which works better for you :)

elinlinnea

I had been wanting the perfect "fresh out the shower" scent that isn't too citrusy or generic but after smelling quite a few fragrances of that sort, I gave up as I had a very specific scent in mind and was never satisfied. I then blind-bought Versace Crystal Noir, thinking it was going to be a dark and seductive scent. But oh my, I just happened to find that fragrance I had been looking for all along!

Don't get me wrong, it's still quite a seductive scent and my boyfriend is obsessed with it! But it has such a beautiful, addictive and comforting fresh scent that I miss every time I'm not wearing it. It's so versatile as well and my new signature scent as it's perfect for both daily wear and date nights. LOVE!

perfumelovere

I stopped in a department store to sample this fragrance although I really want the EDP since that will have a higher concentration and last longer. Even EDP is more like body spray these days but I won't go off on that tangent. I'm smelling the test stripper and I'm immediately taken back a decade to my Alien days. Whatever formula they had in the store, the dry down is very reminiscent of Alien but without the grape essence. Yes, Alien back in the day had something grape like to it that was pure luxury. The new formula is a shell of what it was and more soapy but nevertheless, I'm hoping Crystal Noir can be my Alien reboot. I guess it makes sense. They both have Jasmine, woods, tuberose and cashmeran. These are the notes listed for Crystal Noir on Jomashop which is where I buy all my perfumes since they are discounted. Top notes: Blackcurrant, Black Fig, Violet. Heart notes: Tuberose, Frangipani, Jasmine. Base notes: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla Pod, Heliotropine.

Next day I forgot I had the test strip in my purse and when I went in there I noticed a yucky baby powder smell. It was the sample I had sprayed the day before. Glad I didn't go for the full bottle before it settled into it's final aroma. Baby powder is everything I don't want in a perfume or cologne.

WhitePetals

Lolodojo yes the scent is not the same and fragrantica.com never updated the new notes. The scent is not the same. Here the perfume stores even preset the old batch as testers and when u sniff and buy it you receive a different scent at the end...

Durumi

Looking at the notes, it doesn't look special but it is very special and i didn't smell similar dna perfumes in the market. Dupes for this perfume are always disgusting and they smell like dirty wet wipes. For edt version lactonic notes are not written here but i smell something creamy and lactonic. As someone said it in the comments this perfume might have been reformulated and that it has fig. I love fig smell, so that explains why this perfume is my favourite. It is fresh spicy and very comforting. It reminds me of johnsons baby purple bottle bed time oil. I fell in love with this and i purchased an expensive perfume for my budget for the first time. Thank you curlyscents for recommending this on youtube!💕
Edit: I dont like this anymore, i dont know if it is my nose or the perfume got old but it smells like sweat. I really can't wear it. I will sell it. So sad😔

Lolodojo

So apparently this was reformulated at some point. The notes above are incorrect. For the record I have no reference for the previous version. I have to say I really like this, lots of dark fruit and sandalwood. A vanilla note at first, but dries down to smell like a fancy frenchy sandalwood soap you might find in a boutique hotel. I don’t usually like some of the floral notes as listed on my sample but this works for me. Here is what my eau de toilette sample says and the batch code is consistent with a July 2022 production date—
Top: black currant, black fig, violet
Heart: tuberose, frangipani, jasmine
Dry down: sandalwood, cashmeran, vanilla pod, heliotropine

neecola

A classic. It's both fresh and warm at the same time. I prefer this in the cooler weather. This is my go to comfort scent, I'll spray it on just to hang out at home.

canabena

This smells like the embodiment of a sophisticated woman. Its giving black pencil skirt big black out sunglasses and a belted blazer with patent red bottoms. This smells like a woman who means business.Im not usually a spice fan but this is done beautifully. Its just a touch unisex as well.I love how the cardamom in this spices it up but keeps its soft and sweetish. The sandalwood is what creates that almost unisex feel and the peony really softens it back up to be a more feminine scent. Lovely addition to my collection nd a sucsessful blind buy.

la.femme.scent

This is a first impressions review of Crystal Noir EDT.
I purchased a 1 oz bottle from Marshall's today. There were like 10 boxes of them, for some reason.
It was a blind-buy.
The very first spray, in the air, smelled like a DW Home candle I would purchase, that was dark and had a sandalwood note.
Once it settled on my skin the most prominent note was the pepper. It reminded me of a fragrance I used to own from Victoria's Secret called Very Sexy Dare (I had the original formula) and they share a very similar opening.
The more it dried down the spicy opening started to settle down and a floral note started to come in, to me it smells more like jasmine maybe supported by orchid or vice versa, but that's not listed. It definitely doesn't smell like the gardenia note that is listed, though.
Soon after I started to smell a creamy, woody sandalwood that started to freshen up and smell like a luxurious soap radiating from my skin. There's also a muskiness that leans clean but has some mystery to it, like it's supported with a resin, possibly the amber.
Finally, I got a little sweetness, like fruity, but dark and thick and a little jammy. Almost smelled like black currant or cassis, maybe even fig, but it didn't last long.
I like it. It reminds me a little of D&G The Only One Intense, which I own, but much lighter and fresher, and easier to wear everyday or any time.
Also, it's pretty strong for an EDT.

Update (6.19.2023): The more I wear it the simpler it smells and it simply smells like a luxurious bar soap that's sandalwood scented.
I tested the longevity with the sleep test, where I sprayed it before going to bed, and I was able to smell it in the morning. So it lasted on my skin for about 8 hours.
Lastly, it is masculine leaning because it is so woody but at the same time I can't imagine a man wearing it (in terms of scent profiling and maybe even marketing [anyone can wear anything]).

This was one of the first perfumes I bought for myself and no matter how many I add to my collection I have yet to find one I love more than this. I just cannot stop smelling myself when I wear it, the scent so incredible. I love spices and woods in my fragrance but when they're too heavy I just get nauseated. Because this is so fresh it works perfect for me. Not only that but it's such a beast performance wise, I could smell it on my coat for WEEKS so you get a great bang for your buck. IMO it's one of the best woody scents out there, and huge compliment getter!

laurahuyb

The opening reminds me of diptyque philosykos. Milky coconut with green leaves, then a more peppery aroma unfolds. Not what I expected in a positive way, it has a natural/raw essence. Mid/base notes remind me of a desert with a campfire at night or a summery pine forest. Warm, smokey, natural, sexy scent. Wild and woody, but in a feminine and sophisticated way.

Suicidal_wizard

There is NO coconut in this. Coconut is only mixed into the EDP version. This EDT definitely does not have anything in common with BDK's gris charnel. Some seem to believe there's some linkage there, but there is not one. Nevertheless, it is still an intoxicatingly beautiful fragrance that immediately landed into the territory of favorites for me. Beautiful cardamom mixed with creamy sandalwood give off an illusion of fig being a part of the composition, while it's not there either. All in all, its a warm spicy scent with floral backdrop. It may smell to some like a very expensive and luxurious shampoo.

catonmars

I really want to like this fragrance, but to me, it smells fresh and spicy, like soap and tiger balm mixed together..

katiemary

I love this fragrance- its my current signature scent. It is such a unique scent that no one else wears and I've received multiple compliments with it. I wear this in the office mostly and think it is appropriate everyday scent. I spray about 6-9 times on my clothes/hair and people can still faintly smell it on me when I come home at 6 pm, which is great for an EDT. Highly recommend!

D0LLFACE

First of all let me state that I posted about this fragrance a number of times because it was my favorite/signature back in the day. I loved the coconut gardenia vibe, it was a perfect scent for sexy summer nights. Then they reformulated it and took the coconut out and put in fig and some awful synthetic soap note that made it unwearable for me. It was actually a depressing time, having to let go of this because it had so many good memories associated with it. So I stopped wearing it for years.
Recently I was curious if maybe they changed it and bought a cheap bottle off EBay and it had a black and gold box.
I’m happy to say that they took out that horrible chemical soap note out and now it is very wearable. I get compliments every time I wear it. Gave me a good 3 hours of scent that I could smell and even longer on clothes.
I put on some coconut oil I bought off Amazon before I spray this over it and it brings it very close to the original I loved so very much.
I’m so happy this perfume is back and my current signature for summer.
Black and gold box yall, make sure to get a new bottle and not old stock.

Mushka98

I am officially in love with this perfume. It's like a woody, spicy, musky, floral soap. Smells clean, sexy, and luxurious. It's the perfect scent for a warm spring night out with friends - although I can imagine wearing it all year round.

suzanne_ronald

Creamy SANDALWOOD with GARDENIA & VIOLET. Opens with a burst of ginger with spicy touches from pepper & cardamom, that deepens into the floral heart of gardenia & peony with creamy, powdery, watery, fruity & spicy nuances, all resting on a musky sandalwood base with soapy & balsamic touches. The mix of fruity-florals overlaying the sandalwood reads as violet, while the gardenia bolsters the creaminess of the sandalwood becoming richer over time. During the opening and into the heart it reads demure, and doesn't strike me at first as being a 'Noir' scent, but once into the drydown you start to get the gardenia pulling the sandalwood to a dark and hedonistic place. Well above average performance.

Contrast to Crystal Noir EDP Versace:
These are different, however they share the same DNA. The EDP is heavier with more gardenia forward, and together with coconut brings more of a beachy sunscreen touch, while the EDT is more violet & sandalwood forward. Both have well above average performance.

Contrast to Twilight Mist Body Fantasies:
These are different, but there are some similarities. TM has a candy-like note that isn't present in CN, and has average or slightly above average performance for a body spray, while Crystal Noir EDT has more depth & complexity and outperforms.

Contrast to Ajmal Ravish ii:
This is a dupe with a reasonable approximation to Crystal Noir EDT. Ravish leans slightly more watery violet, and requires several months of storage after first sprays to develop performance. Crystal Noir EDT outperforms.

Contrast to Dream Angels Heavenly Victoria's Secret (OG):
These are different, but my first thought when I smelt Crystal Noir EDT was that it reminded me of the OG DAH. Crystal Noir EDT has a bolder approach, while DAH was more powdery with lighter performance.

Contrast to White for Her Kenneth Cole:
These are different, but there is a similar vibe with powdery, creamy sandalwood & violet. Crystal Noir has a more recognizable violet, and is more complex. Crystal Noir EDT outperforms.

Overall: Beautiful sandalwood scent profile, and above average performance. This is the perfect scent for vamps masquerading as ingenues. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

blood-dorm

(I tested the miniature so it might also count as EDT version.)

It's hotel-y, but like in a really good way. I get how this smells "cheap" due to how straightforward the notes came out but whatever. I like it. This is my best blind buy yet. A coconut that is not gourmand at all, softened by smooth florals and spices. Cardamom is the key on making this sexy, barely smelled ginger but the 'warm' effect on sniffing it. Fits younger crowds like 21-30 year-old/post-college graduate women, men can also wear this if they wanted - IDK why many people are saying this is an "auntie" scent, is it the gardenia? It's made for night occasions but a small dab works in daytime.

toosimilar

One of the best perfumes ever!
I strongly recommend trying at least EDT, it's super cool!
Warm, slightly spicy, round, sexy!
Give it a try, you won't regret -)

evelin.fosher

So horrible.
Instant nausea and headache from this perfume. To me this smells like soap and glory’s dry shampoo and burnt plastic mixed together..

galoppinglady

I tried it out randomly at the drugstore and fell in love instantly. On me this is a very non-offensive, but special and elegant scent which is exactly what I'm always looking for in a fragrance, so it readily became a generalist fragrance for me. I find it suitable for work, date nights, outings and special events, it can perform really anywhere. I kind of feel like this is the winter version or "dark mode" of Alien Goddess, with the same hints of coconut, but in a very different formula.

fluffyfairy

I see why a lot of people love this and I wanted to like it too. It's mature, dark and seductive but it's so soapy and heavy that it gave me a headache.

ChelleBelle84

Soapy? Why yes, it is, much like Dove’s Shea Butter and Vanilla. This is a Fall/Winter scent scent for me, but could be used year round I suppose. Some say they smell coconut in this, but I say smells more like Shea butter/vanilla or like cocoa butter which can be used in summer particularly after spending time out in the sun.

I said above that this is a fall/winter scent for me, but I think I might have to revise that statement to say “ wearable year round”. I’ve been wearing this over the past week with warmer weather and got so many compliments. Sandalwood does really well on my skin along with a sweet (but not too sweet) vanilla-esque type of scent with it. Smells like I just stepped out of hot steamy shower after using a delicious, creamy shower gel. Exactly the type of scent I like for an everyday fragrance.

The other crystal, Bright Crystal, is like Dove’s Pink bar soap that I like for spring and summer. Very fresh and clean. Perfect for very hot weather. Love them both!

i guess you could say I enjoy soapy scents for daytime everyday wear. As I’ve said in other reviews, those are the type of scents I feel makes me more approachable to others because of the reactions I get from people. To me, the whole point of wearing a scent IS to attract people so that they come closer and feel at ease around you.

avril_gnb

Just found my first signature scent! I could wear it all day everyday

Elenar10

I have been testing this for a while now trying to decide if its full bottle worthy for my taste. It is a very interesting and different scent, a bit dark, not very sweet, smooth and cool, best suited for cooler weather. Great longevity and projection. I find it a bit cloying, so although I really like it I think I would end up being overwhelmed at the end of the day. Still on the fence about getting a bottle.

batuhanavci

This has a cold and distant freshness which is very unique. I love to wear this especially on the days when I feel a little under the weather. I think it suits those moody days very well

KrisGreen

This got reformulated again in 2023, however it smells more like the 2020 batch now.

I think with Covid there was a lack of ingredients and substitutes needed to be made such as temporarily changing distributors or whatever. There was a crisis with shipping stuff when the globe had a pandemic on its hands.

Fast forward 3 years after reformulation and it finally smells pleasant again. It doesn’t smell further off, if anything it smells closer to the original again and not bug spray. It smells like a knock off with the top notes, but once it dries down that warmth has been fully restored. The two missing ingredients can never be replicated as one has been banned.

The “goth” vibe people described before was very accurate. That will never come back simply because the banned ingredient is what MADE it goth to begin with, along with removing linilool which was not necessary. Lillial gave fragrances like this a “blooming” and “thick creamy” effect. There was more Lillial (banned ingredient) then there was Aqua when looking at old boxes. They brought some of the creamy vibe back and I’m satisfied.

This is the best we are gonna get. They went back and made some tweaks, we should be grateful. Can’t say the same for other fragrances that got murdered in March 2021.

Ecomeco

It is very powdery to my nose and nothing spicy or fruity. There is a shaving cologne smell hidden somewhere. Honestly, i cannot understand why it is loved so much :/

herculano

To the reviewer below:

I only wear this in summer, in fact.

Since it’s a very “cooling” scent, to me, I don’t like it for winter when I want something “warming”.

I love it in summer because it’s long lasting, clean, cooling, and a bit mysterious.

Edit: My bottles are pre 2017.

babuproch

I bought the EDT after I heard many rave reviews, even from CurlyScents. According to the notes, I should love this. I almost always go for the dark purple or black scents, so this seemed like a pretty safe blind buy, especially as it’s not really an expensive fragrance to buy.

Well.. I don’t know what’s wrong with my skin chemistry or my nose, but this is SO not a noir fragrance. Nothing spicy that I could detect, no depth or mystery.. It’s very smooth, very much like a cashmere and coconut scented soap. I mean, it’s not by any means a bad smell, it’s just not at all what I expected. It almost smells very summer-y to me, which is so weird that everyone says this is a winter scent.. I don’t get it. Kinda sun tan lotion vibes.. Again, in a good way, it seems like a great exotic scent for the summer, but I’m just VERY confused.

All that said, I’m keeping it to try it in the summer nights and I’ll see what I think about it then. Maybe it’s just my skin that doesn’t somehow allow the spiciness to come through? No idea. I kinda like it, I’m just confused and a little disappointed that I didn’t get the “sexy mysterious witch” vibes that I very much expected of this :D

Edit: I now tried it in the summer and LOVE IT. A great fragrance for summer nights. My new summer go-to scent. Combined with a coconut body lotion and the end result is the yummiest summer scent ever. Keeping it for sure, will probably use it up this summer!

kaiak

I pick up some Coca Cola vibe from this.

Longevity is awesome and sillage is great too! I prefer this for colder seasons and night time.

It's spicy, it's woody, it's sweet 😍

sandman80

The drydown smells like burnt plastic.

jxssicamidnight

I loooooove both the edt and edp of this.
So classy, stunning, sexy and exotic.
I’ll Never be without my crystal noir 🖤

Sarahr97

GADDAMN I love this perfume. I got the travel spray of the EDT through Scent Bird and loved it so much that I bought a full bottle so that I can save the smaller for when I travel. This is the perfect blend of spicy and woody and sweet, it's so so mouthwateringly delicious and enchanting. When I wear this I feel like a mysterious, gothic witch who practices love magic and has a necklace with the soul of her ex in it. The first spray is spicy from the ginger and cardamon, and then it deepens into the sweeter amber notes. The coconut is there, but it's not a hot day coconut so much as a night board-walk with a strong drink coconut. It lasts a full day of work and I literally sniff my wrists all day because I can't get enough. Every time I wear this, I get compliments - from my coworkers, my family, my friends, my man- so many! I could wear this every day and be happy!

klioux

I recently got a sample from FragranceNet, and here are the listed notes:

Top: blackcurrant, black fig, violet
Heart: tuberose, frangipani, jasmine
Dry Down: sandalwood, cashmeran, vanilla pod, heliotropine

The first time I tested this I immediately thought oof, too powdery. This has a familiarity that I can't quite pinpoint but is undeniably nostalgic. In the opening I get a vague soft purple fruit note, then soft white florals, quickly followed by a thick, smooth silky cashmeran sandalwood dry down. This is really all about the dry down for me. It's powdery, which I almost always dislike, but this one is an outlier. The powdery cashmeran-sandalwood combo is luxurious and comforting, almost like a safety blanket.

I know this has been the victim of several reformulations, and I wonder if I were to smell older versions if I'd be able to identify what is so nostalgic about this for me. If anyone has a reasonably priced older bottle please let me know!

Barbarossa

People that leave hating comment on the fragrance after few times that they’ve tried the fragrance, should learn to give time to the fragrance! (I also made this mistake before)

At first I wasn’t a fan of this fragrance it was outdated to me and too heavy for my nose, after some time I started somewhat craving for it (just a little bit) got the new version 😭 but!!! Now after nearly half a year, hot and cold weather (I live in tropical country) I made my mind… It’s mind blowing scent! Especially for the time of the launching, it’s gorgeous and very unique!!! Now I get very creamy florals (very womanly and not to girly) almost coconut creamy with cardamon, it’s seriously addictive! I do prefer it in colder month though, especially comforting during rains! In hotter weather it’s to overwhelming (wearable probably only in the evening)
Despite this being the new formulation it still has great lasting power. And I’m still shocked how my opinion have changed! So from my experience don’t jump into conclusions too fast!

As many have previously mentioned, the notes listed here do not match the Versace description. There's no coconut in the edt but there is fig and Frangipani, which a YouTuber I watched stated could be causing people to think coconut. My skin obnoxiously amplifies coconut and I definitely do not get coconut in the edt.

I absolutely adore this! I tried this after seeing all the rave reviews, escpecially by CurlyScents. The opening is peppery and fruity, definitely black currant and possibly the fig note, but I'm not familiar with fig myself. This settles after about an hour and then it's that incredible cashmere and sandalwood. Cold air really adds to this fragrance. I was walking in and out of an outlet mall and it was just below freezing temps. Every time I exited a store and the cold air hit me, this fragrance would come back to life. I was with a friend is very sensitive to scents and she couldn't smell me until shoulder to shoulder and it didn't bother her stomach or head which is very promising.

I spritzed 1 spray on my collarbone and 1 in my hair. The next day I got in my car and kept getting a whiff of this gorgeous smell and asked my passengers if they were wearing perfume. Then I realized it was from my car's headrest from spraying my hair the day before. It still smelled so good that I just wanted to sink in to my seat. That's when I decided to purchase a full bottle.

Maria19

I recently bought this and have been trying it for a couple of days now. The initial scent is strong and peppery. After a while, the scent softens and has a creamy feel. The scent stays on clothes and skin for a long time. I kind of like this, but the strength of the scent bothers me a bit. Many call this sexy. Maybe so. I don't know what I think about the scent yet.

I have a carded sample of this Crystal Noir edt., and the notes listed on the card are different from what’s listed here on fragrantica.

The Versace card says:
TOP: Black Currant, Black Fig, Violet
HEART: Tuberose, Frangipani, Jasmine
DRY DOWN: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla Pod, Heliotropine
OLFACTIVE FAMILY: Oriental - Floral

Although, when I smell it, I do detect cardamom, so maybe the truth is a combo of both what it says here on fragrantica, and also what the Versace card says about their own fragrance.

Also, I own Gris Charnel and do think they smell similar. This one is sweeter and has a little bit of a shampoo vibe (in a good way) and Gris Charnel veers a little more unisex, and doesn’t have a shampoo quality. they aren’t exact. More like cousins that resemble eachother. I do think that if you like one, you will like the other as well.

But I know from personal experience that fig can be challenging when you aren’t accustomed to smelling it. I hated gris charnel at first. But over time I developed a love for it. And now… I apparently really enjoy fig. I no longer get the weird rubbery vibe from it, but a juicy, slightly cream freshness that’s not completely dissimilar to coconut water/milk. So I understand why some people think they smell coconut… it’s definitely coconut adjacent.

The longevity on this is absolutely fantastic. I got at least 6-8 hrs the two times I wore it so far. I already ordered a bottle… haven’t received it yet, but I think this is great! It’s fresh, clean, sweet, and interesting.

Creamy_ambrette

I think many of us purchased the EDT thinking it was the EDP -which has coconut. To me this smells a lot like pure poison- a really pretty, slightly soapy, white floral. I’m glad I only have a little 5 Ml. Now I need to track down a EDP!

emdice

great longevity and projection especially for a toilette scent! glamorous and sexy scent

catholicfrail

versace crystal noir is true gothic. pitch dark, vastly classy, deeply romantic, black and plum, ornate chapels, a victorian ghost roaming the streets of london. this is a cool autumn night in a bottle. black lace, subtle smokey eyeshadow with a dark burgundy lipstick. shiny raven hair in a classic updo, a night at the opera. i cant wait to get my hands on the edp, however, i can assure you that if you've got a taste for the macabre this is the scent you've been looking for. absolutely stunning, and easily versace's best.

ayarossx

I used to have this in 2009/2010 and got a bottle now in 2023 to revive some memories.. the scent is nothing like it used to be. It is watered down and I smell cheap coconutty sunscreen. Its just not it! Im really sad

anna222

Worth the hype reformulated or not. This is amazing, best in my collection and that i’ve tried. I originally tested it at a perfume shop because I liked how it was described in reviews. Fell in love and couldn’t stop smelling the test paper. Couple months later I have a 90ml bottle and love it so much. It’s a dark floral creamy coconut fragrance and i just absolutely love the coconut (even though it’s not supposed to be in there?) Anyways 10/10 love it and want to try out the EDP

FRAGLORD3000

This has been my favorite bottle ever for years but never liked it until recently after receiving a mini and now I really like it. It is sooo unique and mysterious and I think that is perfect for the bottle. I adore the goth vibe the bottle gives and I finally feel it! It is goth yet tropical, like me lol. I don't normally enjoy fig but this is just so well blended and intriguing and I'm finding it super addictive, might have made a fig fan out of me. I would say more of a fall and nighttime scent but not opposed to day or summer wear. I do feel the coldness many describe but theres also alot of warmth as well, oddly contradictory. Very elegant and def 30 and up vibes. I get a warm and elegant post shower clean skin vibe mentioned as well. I def get a long dark pointy fingernail vibe as well and that alone makes me love it. I smell a slight coconut I hear was only in the EDP and I like and may layer with CSP Coco Extreme to add more tropical-ness. Will update more after more wears but I'm smitten now. Would also looooove this as a home frag think it would make an intoxicating candle as well.

MaraCorina

Luckily, I just got my hands on the old version of this fragrance and it is divine. This is spicy, creamy coconut, dark and cold but with a twist of a shampoo vibe. I think it's a nice evening fragrance for year round. Longevity and projection are good. I will have to use this baby carefully because it's very rare to find this old version nowadays.

Caseystewart64

This perfume is not the spicy dark warm coconut creamy dream people describe this as, it’s airy cold and honestly trashy smelling… idk maybe my nose is broken this will always be a head scratcher for me, whhhhhy all the hype?

KylieBooFace

So, I tried the EDT at Ulta and already have the EDP. I may be a convert to the side of EDT over EDP. I swear I can smell coconut in the EDT, and it feels lighter/fruitier overall. The EDP is however much more peppery, especially on the first spray. The drydown seems similar. I learned the hard way not to wear the EDP in the summer, at least not more than one spray LOL. But the EDT might be wearable, and I would want to try to revisit it with a layer of a coconut fragrance (Utopia Vanilla Coco, Pirette, Electric G, etc).

I don't think I have ever smelled anything similar to Versace Crystal Noir to date, especially for a designer scent. It is very unique, like the Libre DNA is to YSL. Crystal Noir manages somehow to smell clean, spicy, airy, substantial, non-sweet yet sweet, delicious, and somewhat shampooey at once. A few youtubers agree this smells like the shower and the delight of bath/body/shampoo products swirling around. Some people think it smells masculine, or like an ice queen, or like a vampire. When I am in the mood, Crystal Noir is a delight.

Also, even though the EDP and EDT smell like dupes of each other, the EDT notes are allegedly radically different as others have probably pointed out before.

Notes from Ulta website as of 1/21/23:

Top - Blackcurrant, Black Fig, Violet
Middle - Tuberose, Frangipani, Jasmine
Base - Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla Pod, Heliotropine

ETA: Don't let the "EDT" label deter you. Like some other EDTs, this has some impressive lasting power. When I saw the family dog, she licked my wrist (I guess she liked it LOL). After washing my wrist off with dish soap, I still smell a whisper of Crystal Noir close to my skin almost 24 hours later.

ETA: 1/30: tested EDT again at the store while wearing EDP. It's paradoxical how they are so similar yet different. EDP is clean and super spicy, while EDT is much fruiter/sweeter/Vanillic. There is not much sweetness or vanilla, but there is a slight noticable difference. But they both share a clean cool spicy shampooey vibe. Both knock me out in terms of strength and longevity LOL. I like them, but to be fair I really like white flowers in a lot of compositions :)

italiancandi

I bought this and added it to my large collection, not thinking much of it smelling on paper, but to keep because I felt I needed it. I am typically strictly gourmands.
Fast forward to today, I wore it for my anniversary date. Felt it was time to break it in and actually wear it
This is MAGIC in a bottle.
This is that scent that embodies everything you want to attract a crush, to seem mysterious, sexy and stand out.
Lasting power is out of this world
Projection is beast mode
Scent is everything a woman trying to seduce, and make a man think of her is
Update: Lasts forever !! Past 24 hrs

nique_nax

The more I smell it the more I like it.

This seems like a classy rich girl out on vacation who isn't very adventurous but fell in love with a wild surfer dude during her business trip.

I'm going to try out Jo Malone's Dark Amber and Ginger Lily because Crystal Noir is hard to get in my country and I have abandonment issues. I fear this might discontinue and I will rather be the one to leave than be left. I was already traumatized once before, I will not allow myself to be hurt again.

Adriennne

This is reformulated in 2021 but no one changed the notes here. it is another scent sold with the same name and bottle..

Idaalolxd

sprayed this on my jacket a month ago and can still smell it.

NZ5

I got a sample of this and the notes are very different from what is written here, was this changed recently??? a fig sandalwood with a zesty opening, I remembered from a long time ago it being a strange coconut (licorice?) I didn't like, this is nicer but nothing special.

perfumista's_paradise

There is NOTHING ELSE like this. Absolutely gorgeous and sexy. The EDT just has a certain fresh aspect to it that just blows my mind and makes it so feminine and seductive.

How I feel when wearing this - fresh out of the shower, in my black lace & silk robe and subtle yet sultry make-up, ready to effortlessly seduce 💋

Just iconic✨

I abolutely love this scent. It's warm, cozy, perfect for colder, windy and rainy days. I can feel it comforting me on gloomy days. It's spicy with cardamon and ginger but at the same time creamy. I can almost smell notes of coconut, despite of coconut not being there (sandalwood maybe?). It's super unpredictable on me, sometimes it's more spicy, sometimes it smells almost soapy (like a luxury hotel room cosmetics set), sometimes it smells super sexy. It's a feel-good fragrance that I like to spray even on days when I stay home alone: a little whiff of it makes my day better! Crystal Noir also has some really good parameters: longevity and sillage is really great on me, no need to spray again during the day. Stays on clothes for literal WEEKS too.

libraprincessxo

I wanted to love this so bad because it smells delicious to me on the bottle but it's a disaster on my skin. I tired this for the coconut note but I guess it's only present in the EDP version. This is a spicy bathroom detergent type of scent, it's very unissex. This smells delicious to me when other people are wearing but it's definitely a no to me

Buffy72

I love this EDT version of Crystal Noir. Ginger and sandalwood blend together so well in this, it's a very good spicy type of scent for me. One of the stronger EDTs in my collection

ingefie

I absolutely love Crystal Noir. I have never in my life managed to wear perfume every day, let alone finish a bottle. Howver, inthis case i have finished both a 30ml and a 50ml bottle, and am waiting for a 90ml in the mail as I write this.

I would say it is more of a fall/winter perfume, though I imagine it would work all year round. On me it smells very fresh and citrus-y with a hint of spice and sandalwood, so it is wonderful day-to-day. I wear this as a nighttime perfume as well, but for that purpose I wish it smelled a bit "darker", if that makes sense (pardon the lack of perfume terminology, I have no idea what I'm doing).

As for sillage, I would say it is light to medium. I don't get comments on it when sitting at my office job when walking past someone on the street, but I do get a lot of compliments when hugging or sitting in a car with someone, for example. Lasts for a couple days when sprayed onto clothing, in my experience.

I have only tried the new EDT version, so I can't speak for the old formula or the EDP, though I suspect I would actually dislike the stronger coconut scent. I do feel that this version has some very slight coconut tones once dried down, though.

All in all, I think this will continue to be my go-to for a long time, at least for everyday use.

don00

Such a nice smell, not overly sweet and still feminine. Bought for my GF and she loves it.

joycefler

I don't know what you guys are getting. I got the EDT with an ombre box and it had that coconut scent.

I LOVE THIS. I went to my high school reunion and at least 6 guys asked me what I'm wearing. One kept coming back just to keep telling me I smell good and asked multiple times what I'm wearing. When it was time to say goodbye, it was normal for us to hug and kiss cheeks even with guys. One of my batchmates whom I am not really close with before hugged me and maybe could not help it anymore and went straight to kiss my neck. We're all friends anyway. Another guy kept holding me close (because we were kinda close) and said again, I smell so good.

My cousins smelled a lot of my perfumes and this is by far their favorite. One immediately purchased it as well.

cadentsun

Bidding this perfume (old EDT formulation from ~2015) farewell as part of a moving & New Years deep clean.

It didn't work for me when I'd received it as a teen and still doesn't work for me as an adult. The strong dewy violet in particular, white florals and powdery sandalwood definitely inspire the scent memory of some fancily perfumed soaps and detergents, and something vaguely spa-like, but the [now removed from this listing] grassy fig and currant kind of push it over the edge for me. It's just a bit too overly luxurious and somewhat tropical for my tastes. Not inherently a bad smell, but definitely bold, moody and situational.

Shanipoo

A creamy sandalwood with musk and little bit of spiciness. It's a woody/powdery dream. Call me "old and mature" in my mid 30s I guess, cause this stuff smells fantastic to me. 🤷🏻
Super strong for an EDT. More of a nighttime smell, but I wear this in the day, too. It is a comforting scent for me

Veronika95

This is your super classy aunt in her late 40's. She wears expensive coats and sunglasses and leather boots, she always has her hair done. She's not mean or anything, but not really warm and cuddly either. Definitely not your fun aunt that takes you for ice cream. The scent itself is really nice, but I'm glad I only have a sample, this does not suit me whatsoever. But it could be super nice gift for your mom if she's the mature type of a person. Even though I'm not a fan of giving perfumes as a gifts, just read a few reviews on any perfume, what are the chances the person is really going to like it 🙈 btw I was 100% sure that the first note listed is going to be a coconut. I'm shocked it's not even there. I checked if I really have the edt, I don't get it, I smell coconut in something really dark

LoryG3

Yuck no no no ... to me this smells like dill

Adriennne

No one talks how bad the reformulation is. I wish they bring back that thick gardenia and coconut again.... i wont buy the new one from 2021.

violeteme

EDT is slightly more zesty-gingery and less lactonic than EDP. The lack of coconut makes all the difference. I can't say that I like it, it's just not my type, but this is a unique, noticeable fragrance.

chlorodream

I haven't tried the EDP, and there seems to be some confusion perhaps with the notes for this one? Looks like there was a reformulation in 2018 with new notes. As quoted: "At the forefront are warm and spicy blackcurrant and black fig, bringing fruit scents that tie into the middle notes of frangipani and delicate jasmine. There is a solid, heady base of sandalwood and vanilla pod."

Either way, I tried the EDT today so my review (based on the notes listed on here as that's what I was expecting, but updated with notes on the new notes) is as follows:

This was sweeter than I imagined, considering there's no vanilla notes listed (now I understand that the new formulation features vanilla, BOO HISS). A good kind of sweet though, just not what I was expecting/hoping for as someone who doesn't really wear sweet fragrances.

However, I compared notes with someone who DOES like sweet perfumes so that I could give the following rundown:
1. It isn't overly sweet, but weirdly despite coconut not being listed for the EDT, I pick up on a form of coconut that perhaps leans sweeter than the notes necessarily indicate. (Now I understand that this may be the fig and vanilla, not coconut, but honestly it gives sweetened coconut vibes regardless. I sense zero blackcurrant).
2. Neither of us picked up on any pepper, which was a shame for me and a plus for her.
3. The cardamom is lovely and subtle, like chai-spiced rice pudding. (This may well be the fig/frangipani).
4. Sandalwood is so blended in this that it doesn't stand out as a particularly "woody" note.
5. There is a nice warmth and depth from the base notes, however it isn't as "night feeling" as either of us expected considering it's called "noir". (I sense I'd get more of a "noir" feeling from the EDP).
6. It is by far one of Versace's best, most long-lasting and sillage-performing fragrances, whilst not being overwhelming either.
7. Leans a little into Sensuous Nude territory, without the sexy cashmeran skin vibes. This is a cuddly hug on holiday, SN is a naked woman wrapped in hotel bedsheets. (Apparently the new formulation DOES have cashmeran, but I stand by this, I can't sense it).

I will say, if you like those figgy, sweetened-coconutty scents, you'll probably like this. As for me, I want to hunt down a bottle of the EDP, for that peppery less-sweet coconutty sandalwood goodness I was hoping for.

Nanook2020

Totally a Halloween scent! Dark, mysterious, deep, gothic, night scent. I can imagine that a vampire would wear this scent while she was seducing/luring a mortal into her castle ;) but i can imagine if Melisandre from Game of Thrones would wear this :D

Keiman2005

Everything before the base notes is perfect. The beautiful transition makes this a real art piece. Unfortunately the sandalwood and heliotrope in the dry down don't vibe with me. I can understand why some people said it smells like an "old lady" lol. Surprisingly I would like to smell it on my man , I can see it's quite unisex.

viktorijavla

No idea if I smelled a reformulated version or not. I will be honest, this is not the most sophisticated or expensive smelling perfume, but it's so addictive. I want to smell it again and again.

The EDP is not discontinued despite what ambervxyjul stated. It’s in a new gold and black box with 67% alcohol, while the new EDT is at 78%.

DarkVenus

This fragrance did not agree with me at all. I have a 1.7oz bottle of it that's only been sprayed 3 times. Selling on Mercari if anyone wants the listing.

2nd Review

I have both now the EDT and EDP. EDP is discontinued (can be found on second hand sites) and that’s why everyone’s confused on why they keep receiving EDT’s.

I sprayed both on each hand and here is my comparison.

The EDT does NOT have coconut. It is a soapy, steamy shower bright floral scent. It is exactly what a toilette should smell like. Lighter than the EDP. It’s regardless amazing in the DNA and a scent I will forever purchase. It reminds me of bright crystal, but the evil step sister in the best way possible.

The EDP has the coconut scent everyone is dying for, even in the new formulation (black and gold box) It also has a deep nutty scent I think cardamom? I can tell both are from the same family but I wouldn’t say they’re the same like some reviews I’ve seen. The EDP is more darker and deeper. I don’t get the shower soapy crystal scent with this one.

Both are fantastic, extremely long wearing and can be headache inducing. I do prefer the EDT just of how versatile it is of the season and time of day. The EDP is a man eater, late night wintery scent. They are NOT the same scent so be aware of what you’re purchasing.

croissant420

I got an EDT vial sample with pictures of notes pyramid inside it and it is kind of different:

Top notes: blackcurrant, fig, and violet
Heart: tuberose, frangipani, jasmine
Dry down: sandalwood, cashmeran, vanilla pid, and heliotropine.

Upon spraying, there is a bomb of beautiful spice and creamy, lactonic fig. It settles for 1 minute top. Beautiful, just exquisite. From there, it went to a slightly different direction, something so creamy, muted, sweet, and coconut-y. Coconut is not my favorite note as it makes me annoyed with how sweet and nauseating it is sometime. I just want to experience the top notes longer because it is such a perfect scent. Definitely a colder months fragrance.

Vladislava Ch

I have the pre-formulated EDT
This fragrance is 100% one of my favourites, and this is coming from someone who has a good collection and is a parfume enthusiast.
In my opinion the opening is very spicy, but as it dries down becomes sweeter (not candy sweet by any means) and woodier. I can defently pick up the ginger, cardamom, the pepper and the sandalwood(which i LOVE), but i have to say 2 things. Even thos it is not listed in the notes here on fragrantica i can smell coconut, but it's not this headache inducing one, it's very pleasant. The second thing i actually really like. In the deep dry down the violet note is surely there. It's sweet and almost smells like those violet candies, that we have in Eastern Europ. Even when i first got it the packaging smelled like those really strong.
My only problem with this fragrance is that on my skin absolutley doesn't last, but i can close my eyes, becuse on clothes it lasts fairly well. I give it 8/10. :)

AshBud

I sampled this in a retail store and though I didnt initally care for it, and I really liked it after the dry down. Bought a bottle online and just applied. The first spray is very gingery and offputting. Then it slowly morphs through the pepper and cardamom, along with the gardenia. Its a softer "dark" fragrance. It honestly smells like a little bit of coconut is in there, so I dont agree with other reviewers on that. I'm not totally crazy about it, and I am not positive I didnt sample the EDP in store, or maybe an older formulation.

vanillashpice

I purchased this one in 2021 after I got the EDP hoping it was different but they’re practically identical. I see why they did away with the EDP, they’re essentially the same thing. I don’t get any differences whatsoever. They’re both Ambery, slightly sensual in a clean way and smell like a hotel soap. It’s okay if you like clean scents and want one that’s gonna last all day and be decent value cause the huge bottle you can get at a good price. I like this one and it’s grown on me a lot and I reach for it in hot weather a lot.

ambervxyjul

This is the weirdest smell I’ve ever encountered on a fragrance before. It is so unique that this smell cannot be replicated and IF you smell it, you KNOW it’s crystal noir. The color of the bottle represents the smell. It is mysterious, airy and wintery. It has all combinations of soapy clean, tropical beach, fresh airy and spicy sexy. I always go back to this no matter how many new fragrances I purchase. My boyfriend always tells me I smell edible when he hugs me.

Clairexoxo

For reference, my bottle was produced in early 2022.
When I first received it, it smelled very soapy and peppery, like rubbing soap in a glass of water and throwing in 3 big pinches of fragrant ground black pepper. After 2 months, the peppery aspect has faded a little and the scent has become a little sweeter and more pleasant. However, I still dislike the scent. I agree that it's not the typical pretty girly pink scent which is kinda cool and slightly mysterious. I would say it's not a safe blind buy and not worth all the hype it's getting. It's a 4/10 for me.

Gyps

I’ve got no idea about the history of this and the reformulations, all I know is that I’ve just bought it and it’s a nice fume. Quite strong for an EDT.

nique_nax

got a free mini which was 77% not sure if it was an older batch.
such a clean smell and is powdery but not in a cloying or old lady way.
smells comforting to me, like a mother or a reliable person. 😅

Getting this as my next bottle! Love how it smells both carefree and mature. Kinda like a 20/30-year-old woman on vacation sipping on wine or something.

Honestly, it is kinda giving BENCH in terms of its scent but the projection and longevity are, of course, a lot better.

Linnsim

It smells cold, dark, dry and powdery. I heard that it smells like a gothic church and I completely get the vibe. Not my style at all.

Laynie_Scents

It smells like a soda to me. I can’t quite figure out which one. Almost like a ginger ale mixed with root beer. I enjoy the scent very much but it doesn’t last long on me.

Kcbear28

Love love love. My going out night scent. Glad it’s getting the hype it deserves!

“2013 Pre-reformulated Crystal Noir EDT
Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Fig, Violet
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Amber, Frangipani
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Heliotropine””

Ummm no in 2013 it shared the same notes as the EDP and actually had coconut back then. Those notes you listed was for the 2018 EDT reformulation. I know the history of this perfume like an autistic child knows the ins and outs of a toy train. (I’m autistic.)

ORIGINALLY before 2018 both had 79% alcohol, then in 2018 both were 77%. The EDT is now 78% while the new EDP is 67%.

The notes to either version are truly unknown at this point as of march 2021 when older reformulations had to be taken off the shelf by European Law.

Anyone reading this. The original and the modern version have a completely different dna, other then the dry down which has some similarities but that’s it. It’s a ghost of its former past life.

mandyads

Comparing EDT (Sept 2013) vs EDP (Feb 2021). I wish I had my hands on the pre-reformulated EDP, but I love these two so much that I don't find it necessary to purchase a 3rd bottle just for comparison. Though I'm tempted, because I really want to know if the original EDP has more of that coconut creaminess! Even if I do, I will only be choosing one to keep. They are both amazing, last forever... and are very similar (despite every "preformulation-obsessed" person's reviews). Granted, I'm testing flankers/concentrations against each other, which may not be fair. The DNA is very much the SAME in these two - and this is coming from the person who can pick out a single note difference in a dupe, haha. I am particular. Most importantly, I'm not biased. I don't have a history with this fragrance, so there's no reason for me to "make up" similarities or differences in my head because I'm upset at a reformulation, haha.

2013 Pre-reformulated Crystal Noir EDT
Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Black Fig, Violet
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Amber, Frangipani
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Heliotropine

2021 Reformulated Crystal Noir EDP
Top Notes: Pepper, Ginger, Cardamom
Heart Notes: Coconut, Gardenia, Orange Blossom, Peony
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Amber

Opening: EDT seems like a slightly watered-down version of the EDP, where the EDP is much sharper and more peppery/spicy.
Top: Where the EDP becomes denser, the EDT begins to almost get stronger and fruity. Smelling them side by side, now I finally understand the lactonic accord in the EDP. Where the EDP stays cold, the EDT begins to flirt with a bit of warmth.
Heart: I love both of these fragrances, truly... but the EDT really begins to steal my heart here. There is a tropical fruitiness that is almost juicy deep into the fragrance. Proabably because I absolutely love black currant in fragrance. When I smell deeply into the EDP, I am met with the feeling of a clear midnight sky with a full moon on a cold night; there is almost a nod to something tropical, but it's not as detectable as it is in the EDT.
Base: The EDP remains linear the entire time, losing the peek of the tropics it tried to give in the heart. The EDT settles down a bit and smells quite similar to the EDP, only the tropical aspect of it is still present and very noticeable just in a smaller dose. Again, this is where the EDT has an edge up. The dry-down of the EDP smells a little synthetic when you dig your nose into it (I think that's the coconut finally mixing with the lactonic accord); the EDT has this as well, but ithe fruitiness cuts it a bit.

Overall, they both have a "cold" feeling. The EDT adds a hidden warmth to that coldness. Almost like being deep in a cave on the beach... it's dark and cold where you are, but you can hear the beach and see the glimmer of sun awaiting you; as you approach the end of this cave you can feel the warmth begin to radiate from the entrance. The EDP is like being in an underground cave in the artic; you are surrounded by crisp air and icy beauty, but you are wrapped in soft cashmere that creates warmth close to the body. I'm surprised there are no listed notes of pepper or cardamom in the EDT, but there is a chance that all of these notes are actually a part of the breakdown and weren't shared (which is why there's been so much note cross-up with reformulations between both the EDT and EDP). I would love some coconut in the EDT, but hey... can't be greedy! I think the EDP is slightly stronger with better projection if you use the same amount of sprays, but if you spray the EDT a bit more the performance is very comparable.

UPDATE: I'm considering hunting down the pre-reformulated EDP. I thought I was sold on keeping the EDT for its fruitier vibe, but I love that the EDP is creamier... something I never appreciated until comparing them side by side. Now, I am tempted to know if the pre-reformulated EDP is even coconut-creamier! Ugh... why... Or maybe find a layering combination to add coconut cream to the EDT! (I have Kyse Perfumes Cocco Tiare on the way for this idea... Cocco alla Vaniglia is coming too!).

tobaccoblossomkd

I can't believe i'm only trying this fragrance now!
I get a beautiful burst of ginger and cardamom in the opening with the orange blossom and a bit of gardenia popping through and after it settles I'm left with a creamy sandalwood amber almost cashmere musk. This is definitely going to be one of my top 5 for sure. I'm a huge fan of musky sandalwood and amber so I knew I had to check this out when I heard all the raves on youtube. One youtuber said Sunrise Woods from Bath and Body Works was similar to this one but CN is smoother and better blended of course. I own Sunrise Woods so I went out right away and picked this up. Great blind buy!

Now that I’ve gone on and on (including with my YouTube video on this) I will review this abomination. The 2018-2020 formulations for both the EDP and EDT were equally my signature scents.

While it’s more unisex now and me being a guy you’d think I’d be pleased. No I’m not. It’s no longer an oriental fragrance, it smells like fruity urine upon spraying. The dry down smells nice which makes up for the gross opening. It does not last as long but it’s still strong. It’s not that weakened. It could be my skin chemistry that doesn’t work well with this new 2021-2022 one. I miss the linilool alone…

What’s the most upsetting is a lot less of vanilla from the EDT and total removal of coconut in the EDP. Whoever is smelling coconut in this in reviews I’m reading, please pass whatever you’re smoking over there, I want some because that’s what I miss the most the coconut/ heavy vanilla. Must be some good stuff you got.

Coconut was replaced by vanilla for the EDT in 2018. Anyway the coconut in the previous EDP and vanilla in the previous edt is what made them creamy and milky on top of the lilial which can’t be helped. They shoulda kept the same amount of vanilla in the formula. It was in your face before now it’s in the background. They shoulda substituted lilial with freesia but anyway.

I will not buy this ever again, the EDP is the way to go. The EDP at least has resemblance after you get to the heart notes and the pee smell is a bit different and not disgusting. Despite not having any coconut the EDP I still reach for by habit.

Hypnotic Flower

Easily one of the most complimented perfumes in the history of ever, I am absolutely speechless.

Aquamarina29

At first spray, it’s a cold/clean smell. To me it smells like powdery white floral with a hint of coconut in the background and bit of spice, although coconut is not listed in the notes. Then it becomes more mellow, more skin like with the coconut being more forward. The dry down is powdery coconut vanilla with some slight woody notes. Would definitely not call it sexy, maybe more sophisticated and mysterious. I really like this scent and for eau de toilette, the silage and lasting power is really good.

tamlou

I am puzzled by the notes showing here for this EDT. Previously the notes were listed as:
Top Notes: Blackcurrant, Black Fig, Violet
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine, Gardenia, Amber, Frangipani
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Heliotropine

I had blind bought this based on the "old" formula. Unfortunately, I received the new formulation.
I have recently managed to find a pre-refornulation bottle and prefer it. Clearly I won't be repurchasing.

Why can't Frangrantica list the EDT's separately? Original 2004 on one page and the newer 2019 version on a separate page as they are clearly different.

jayamoya

at first spray it is definitely a cold scent , it reminded me of an older perfume that my grandma used to wear in her early/mid 40s ( which isn't necessarily a bad thing). GUYS, as we continue to smell the story it just smells so inviting. i kept holding my wrist to my nose because it smelled so good. if your not someone into the stronger smells with the musky scent this definitely wont be for you. but if you love that intense, inviting mystery smell that this will give off to strangers then this is for you

Skinscents4Fusspots

EDIT! Very confusing this EDT - Carded sample has notes inside as follows....

Top = Blackcurrant, black fig, violet
Heart = Tuberose, frangipani, Jasmine
Dry down = Sandalwood, Cashmeran, vanilla pod, Heliotrope

BUT! The Versace site lists the same notes as Fragrantica - almost identical to the EDP notes! I don't know how you're supposed to know what to buy or what you'll get, but the notes on the EDT carded sample make sense to my nose for how the sample smells to me.

This smells like a bar soap to me. A slightly sour coconut scent at first (think coconut yoghurt, lol!) but quickly just a strongly scented bar soap. I have a fig bar soap from LUSH currently and this has the same sort of fig in it.... I get lovely fig and a hint of florals - not too much jasmine thankfully - then a powdery sweet (but not sickly) base. Definitely super soapy, but not harsh and shampoo-like. Would I describe it as dark, seductive, alluring? Not really! Outside of it being pretty potent when it warms up it just smells rather bright, clean and creamy. It's actually rather comforting, but it's strong, which is what makes it feel more evening appropriate! I'm not sure it matches the name or the bottle. To me it's maybe a slightly creamy pastel version of the original Crystal Noir bottle.... think of mixing an opaque white glass in with the deep brown tinged- purple - A pastel fig!

Genuinely surprised at how this smells after also seeing so many reviews on YouTube describing it as sexy! Maybe the EDP is hella sexy? If it smells like this then it's not my version of sexy, but each to their own! I wore this in the evening after wearing 212 by Carolina Herrera during the day - my pure white bar soap style clean scent - and it was certainly a more evening appropriate soapy smell. I reckon this one has a very noticeable projection. I'm surprised that musk isn't listed as the soapyness reminds me of musky perfumes I have. I know certain notes can create a slightly coconutty vibe to some noses (Katy Perry's Indi is straight up coconut cream on me for example!) so I guess that's why not everyone smells it.

I've got a little bottle of the EDP (modern formulation I assume!) from Notino on it's way to me and I'm so interested to compare them!

haleykbhenry

Curly Scents hyped this up hardcore so I bought it and it is very uninteresting and feels very outdated. It’s annoying in the way that the notes are all over the place like a mess. I wouldn’t say this is sexy at all. I do enjoy the house of Versace but there is so much room to do better than this

anna222

I love this fragrance. I can definitely smell the coconut. It’s a spicy soapy coconut and I think it’s perfect for autumnal weather. Smelt it from a friend and also got a sample, going to purchase soon.

Hannehoney

Another blindbuy :) After first spray this reminds me a lot of Armani Code. I love it :) I can smell kind of a pepper note, its spicy but clean at the same time. I got many compliments :) This could be a good signature scent, it blends perfectly with my skin. Its so addictive! Perfect for fall and winter :)

Azula

The note pyramid is erroneous. Versace's description on their official website states that the note pyramid is identical to that of the Eau de Parfum. As someone who owns this fragrance and is familiar with both iterations, I can confirm that this is indeed the same recognizable composition: piquant spices, coconut nectar-infused gardenia blooms basking in the blazing sun and balmy, unctuous sandalwood.

Top: Cardamom, pepper, ginger
Heart: Gardenia, peony, orange flower
Base: Amber, sandalwood, musk

UPDATE: They corrected it.

Duaham

Fig and powdery type frags are usually my favorite but this one fails me at the opening. I smell a black pepper note that's SO overpowering. It settles after 15- 30 mins and youre left with a soapy, semi creamy coconut scent. Nothing wowing. Can someone help me identify which note is giving that peppry scent? I know black pepper is not listed... could it be the violet? Black currant? After all the hype, I've decided to declutter my 50ml EDT. Not a scent for me.

perfume_angel

This smells like you are in a hot steamy shower, and you used a luxurious soapy smelling wash. Then you used a coconut body scrub after. 🥥🚿🧼It’s soapy, coconutty, sexy, shower steam scent. I love it and the longevity and sillage is great!

Marina.Klr

One of the best perfumes out there - simple, but so complete! Clean, coconuty, sensual, creamy, woody and just as sweet as it should be. A scent with personality, good price and longevity. Sits close to the skin and it’s a crowd pleaser, but at the same time is very Unique & perfect for a signature scent! I’m definitely getting it again.

Robynwosv

I love this scent, I agree with others that I can smell the coconut even though it’s not listed. So for a long time I thought I owned the edp, not edt until I looked at the bottom. 8/10 bc it can be pretty strong if oversprayed and I tend to do so. Could imagine it being overwelming by some people but I absolutely love it. It’s a real compliment magnet, everyone always wants to know what I’m wearing. It’s lovely and attentiongrabbing, can’t stop smelling myself

Elysia9835

This fragrance is very interesting. I blind bought it. Even though the coconut is not listed, I can smell it. At first, I really hated this fragrance. The cheap coconut smell was so dominated that I can smell anything else. It remind me of Rihanna Reb'l fleur which I hate (gives me headache). However, after a few tries, the scent somehow changed. I don't really smell the coconut anymore. Instead, this become more like previous previews, more soapy, give off a clean vibe which is more my style. I think the longevity and projection are quite good. After 6 hours of wearing it, I can only smell a faint of smell lingering on my clothes but other people can still smell me and they said my perfume is still very strong. This happened with my other perfumes so I'm not surprized (I can only smell the perfume on me for about 4 hours) Anw, I quite like this. I dont think this perfume is safe to blind buy though.

Adjr1087

I got a couple of compliments by women when wearing this perfume. One of them was my ObGyn, I was waiting on the room and when she came in, the first thing she said was "OMG, YOU SMELL AMAZING!!! WHAT IS THAT?!!" And she was wearing a mask so just think about the projection of this EDT... She made me tell her the name of the perfume and took out her laptop and started to look for it, she told me she was going to get it right away LOL!

This is one of my top perfumes for life. This is a perfect signature scent, that can be used all year long, no matter the weather or the occasion. I use this for the office, for dates, to go the mall, for appointments, to run errands, to just be around the house, even to sleep.

If you want to know how this smells (and I know a couple of people have already given this exact description before), imagine you are taking a hot shower, and that day you are washing your hair, and you put a lot of conditioner on it, you shave your legs with a white creamy foamy shaving cream, and you use a creamy shower Gel that just smells soapy and clean. Now, you turn off the shower and all that hot vapor is floating in the air, with all that combination of shampoo, conditioner, cream and shower gel lingers in the air. THAT smell, is what I smell from this perfume. It is BEAUTIFUL, sexy, clean, mysterious, fresh and a little bit spicy all at the same time.

You have to try this one out! Now, I will soon be reviewing the EDP, which I will receive in the mail shortly as I already ordered it. I will finally be able to compare both, but the EDT is more accessible and easier to find for sure.

AdalynEverly

I bought a sample of this of decant x. I was shocked that it was the EDT, that's suppose to smell nice. This smells like if you soaked your sweat in overly detergent smelling clothes, and laid them out to dry. It's like a rancid detergent concoction that is also trying to be overly sweet from the fig. I love sandalwood in my perfumes, but this smells nothign like it has main sandalwood at all. I'm guess overly powdery then the fruity vanillas accords together is a no to me.

JaeIsFancy

Wow, I’ve been living under a rock apparently! This has been around forever, I actually remember not liking it when it came out years ago. Clearly my taste has changed, this is such a great fig, milky fragrance with some smooth spice and coconut husk; not a sweet coconut. It’s clean but doesn’t smell soapy to me unless it’s one of those luxurious goat milk cleansing bars, then that would make more sense. However this isn’t soapy as in shampoo. It has a thickness to it & im loving it for these Autumn days. It sticks around for hours! Regarding projection I want to say it goes about arms length and I’ve gotten a few “mmmm, you smell so good!” When people hug me when I wear it. Now I think I also may need the EDP, just looking for the right price.

raycyj

just bought this beauty and I cannot wait to try it out on a cold gloomy day!! smells comfy creamy clean, it's sweet and musky on me, I just love it sm. Haven't got to wear it around people, so I don't know if it will attract compliments or not, but I feel confident in that .. it's super addictive and it LASTS too (talking abt the EDT) <3

Jloveparfum

Crystal Noir Eau de Toilette. It's been a long time since I used CN. Today I decided to give a little love to this wonderful fragrance. It has been in my collection since 2011 and it still smells as exquisite as the first day.

Crystal Noir It opens softly sweet and powdery with soft green and minty nuances. Although what stands out the most is the violet flower, that I love! The heart becomes warmer and more tropical (frangipani, jasmine, tuberose) giving way to an amber and creamy background.

It's one of my favorite Versace florientals. The substantivity on my skin reaches 8 hours with moderate diffusion. Elegant, sensual and addictive.

J-An5

People say that this is clean and soapy. I disagree. This is not your typical soapy perfume. There's something deep and spicy about it that just puts me off.
It might be the fig note in this perfume because this is the only perfume I own with that note.I gave it a couple of tries but it's not for me. Now I know fig is not for me.

Texasperumefan

First off, I know perfume is misspelled in my username, I cannot change it :(

Update: This is so good, I love it more and more each day. Its like that soapy / clean smell (think Daisy) but more elevated/ less boring. Even though I did not smell any coconut at first, I think I do smell coconut now. Its actually very strong, but its not the sweetness of coconut, it comes across as a very creamy/milky coconut, it blends in nicely. Despite being EDT this perfume lasts so long. If I had to describe it, it would be slightly musky, soapy coconut, with a hint of something green to keep it fresh. Very unique.

Review: I meant to review this one, but I accidentally reviewed the EDP. This is spicy and soapy. Just clean. No coconut. At first, it smelled like a freshly watered flower, a bit like velvet tuberose from BBW, once that smells goes away (in a few minutes) it smells like a nice spicy soap. I could see a man liking this fragrance for himself. It has a slightly masculine smell to it. Reminds me of something my older brother used to wear. But bottom line, it smells CLEAN. Like soap. Like clean skin. Skin that has been freshly cleaned with soap. I love this. Bought a 3.4 oz of this on accident, instead of EDP. Happy mistake I guess, I like it enough to keep it/ use it. This is not a pretty, girly scent. This is the kind of scent you wear with your most stylish looks. If I was a business woman, this is the stuff I would wear.

merbibii

This is by far my favourite scent and has been my go-to for nearly three years now. The first bottle I bought was the old version but I'm currently wearing the revised formula. Though the original definitely had a smoother, creamier feel that I personally prefer, there isn't enough difference between the two to put me off buying and wearing the newer version. I think the beauty of this perfume is its versatility: the floral, fruity notes make it a reasonable daytime perfume, and I feel the spicy, musky notes really come out at nighttime. One thing I'd say is that this scent smells really different depending on the person wearing it. I lent my bottle to my best friend before a night out, and where it smelled darker and muskier on me, it was more floral on her. Definitely one to try before you buy, but if you find it works for you then it should be a real crowd pleaser - it's easily my most complimented perfume :)

kkaattjjeess

First of all, I do really like this scent, although I have not worn it enough to form a well rounded opinion and write an in-depth review.

However, it does baffle me that this scent is considered "sexy" (I can't really get behind the idea of scents being sexy that much to begin with, but if I really HAD TO name sexy scents, this would not in a million years cross my mind). My nose might be broken but this is very soapy and gives off "freshly showered" vibes, smells like a nice shower gel or even shampoo (which again, the freshly showered vibes aren't inherently "not sexy", but I don't feel people are smelling what I am). Super innocent to me, I get how and why this would get compliments, but I'd not ever wear this to dates (if I happened to care about dates, which I don't) or nice events.

It's not at all spicy, dark or mysterious to me at all. Whatsoever. Very much of a day time scent, I imagine myself wearing this when I'm queueing in Lidl (just kidding, lol, it's not that mundane).

missmaddiemac

This perfume is a compliment MAGNET when I wear it! I feel like if you’re a fan of Narciso Rodriguez EDT, Gucci Guilty, or Gucci Guilty Intense, you’d like this one. Sexy and spicy. It’s not too loud or provocative. Good for everyday wear but also a good fragrance for clubbing/going out.

gourmandgyaani

where do I start with this boring mess?
the review before mine covers it nicely - I had heard a lot about the EDT vs EDP and many people recommended the EDT and so I went for it. I had a friend bring it while he was travelling (duty free, of course) and so I got it blind, never having tried it. thought I'd take the plunge.
this is a boring boring boring soap / shampoo / hair conditioner scent, which is fine if you want to smell like that but for this much money and for the fact that its a perfume, I definitely don't want that. I want my fragrances to speak to me and have a personality of their own, not be generic shampoo smells what even?
doesn't perform well either, 2-3 hours and its vanished and that also after I overspray generously.
this is probably one of my worst buys and I am deeply disappointed. its nice enough that ill spray it on for local errand runs or random quick things, its even decent to just wear around the house if you're having a lazy day and don't really want to wear anything. never buying again and never buying another perfume from Versace again for sure - they are always such a disappointment. hard pass. 2/10.

Dhayana

I wanted the coconut EDP and ended up getting this one by accident. This is a powdery clean soap/shampoo smell, not what I expected from the look of it. I wanted a spicy dark mysterious night time scent. Now I know I don't like powdery or violet notes, reminds me of baby wipes.

kissabelle

Reviewing a bottle from 2020 - and I’m actually very curious now what the new floral notes above should smell like? Because the bottle I have smells similar to the EDT tester bottle at Sephora (with cardamom, pepper as top notes listed at back of bottle).

Projection and longevity is great. I would love this for cooler weather or work occasions where I need to wear a more sophisticated scent. This is a well-layered designer scent, just the right strength and not overwhelming or come on too strong at one spritz.

It’s very light floral and woody creamy at dry down and reminds me of the DKNY Cashmere mist my mum used to wear. Cashmere would seem to be a warm note but not this EDT. It’s cold, dark, mysterious yet inviting and confident, makes you want to sniff it more. The coconut-a-like note is not a gourmand coconut, possibly mistaken due to creamy combo of sandalwood+cashmere+gardenia.

I’ll try get my hands on the new 2021 formulation and compare both. But I’m also going to try secure a backup of the older EDT.

EDIT: I have both formulations of the EDT (77% alcohol old; 78% alcohol new)
At first whiff they actually smell similar despite claiming to have spices in the older one? But the new EDT lacks the creamy note which is such a shame. Def go for the old formulation if you can find it. They smell slightly different after dry down. New EDT is a woody floral (dried flowers scent), there is something sharp in this one. Old EDT smells smooth, creamy, floral and very addictive.

I am reviewing an old EDT (all-black box) formulation. If you want the beast mode heavy, soapy and sexy coconut scent that projects, look for older batches online. Men love it. Perfect to use at night after having a shower.

Gosh

I am very confused with reformulations. I got an Edt in gold-black box, according to batch code very recent, from February 2022. It's not bad,, actually quite nice, soft white florals with woody base. It is darker than any average designer perfume for sure, it has nice fresh sandalwood drydown, but it's very light, doesn't project much a don't see this as a man killer or night time perfume. I could and will easily wear it during day to the office a definitely will have to respray during the day.

chicagogirl

I was thinking about this perfume today because I got MJ Perfect Intense and it reminded me of the drydown of this! At least the 2016 version I have. I've had a bottle of this edt since 2017, batch code from 2016. If you want to read my initial review on it you'll have to scroll down on my profile a little lol. It's one of my all time favs just FYI. Since my bottle is a tester the notes are on the back:

TOP: Cardamom, Pepper, Ginger
HEART: Gardenia, Peony, Orange Flower
DRYDOWN: Amber, Sandalwood, Musk

According to these new notes listed here it was definitely reformulated! Has anyone smelled both these versions? Is the new one totally diff, meaning old formulation totally gone forever? :( It sounds very different especially with the fruity notes. The old version was not fruity at all it is spicy, musky floral and woody.

Ghostx

I feel like a hot vampire when I wear this lol. Think like, Queen Akasha (Aaliyah) in 'queen of the damned' type of energy radiating out of this. This just smells sexy and clean. If you want to smell like a sexy person who can seduce anyone and leave a mysterious presence. This is for you. Also it lasts all day too so even more of a win.
