More Than Words by Xerjoff is a Amber Woody fragrance for women and men. More Than Words was launched in 2012. The nose behind this fragrance is Chris Maurice.

Join the Club Collection includes ten perfumes representing ten different kind of virtual clubs. Fatal Charme is about elegance, glamour and fashion; Ivory Route is an adventure and travelling club; Marquee represents a theater club; Kind of Blue is all about jazz; 40 knots is a yachts club; Ascot Moon is a horse club; Birdie is for golf lovers; Comandante is for fine cigar lovers; Shunkoin is for meditation and More than Words captures the world of writers and poets.

The ingredients of these fragrances are to be kept a secret. However, each fragrance will have its identification card with a number which one could use to join the real club of the owners of these perfumes. That’s how the concept goes from virtual clubs to forming a real one.

This one reminds me of my childhood when my sisters and I went to my grandpa's. Smells exactly like the outside of his apartment building's gate on a Sunday morning. He was living on the city's busiest street amongst bars and nightclubs, so maybe you can guess where this is going. Barf, vomit, puke, spew...

To be fair it is olfactory and took me back to my childhood, so hey kudos for that I guess.

santiniansia

I call this Skittles on steroids. I didn't like this at first, but it has grown on me. May have something to do with the cooler weather that it's meant to be worn in (I first tried this in summer)? I also dislike the loud smell that I get it when I first spray it. But once that's gone, it's lovely. I love that it's not your usual amber scent, although it's definitely there. I may buy the set of 15mL bottles of this and La Capitale.

Histamine

This is as far away that a fragrance can get from a mass appealing designer fragrance, yet being gorgeous. So I’d reserve this to experienced noses that appreciate quality over appeal. Wife tells me to go away every time that I wear this, which is sad. It has such depth and the rose oud is just perfect and it stays there as long as the fragrance is detectable. Which is a very long time. It is definitely not linear on my skin, hard to describe as it keeps changing on the side of that rose oud core. It opens kind of ambery in an aggressive way and then calms down a bit but stays projecting moderate to strong for a very long time sending the oud-rosy and sweet whiffs.

Never ever blind buy this.

colognesigma

I don't understand the hate this gets its honestly an amazing fragrance I smelt it and its a woody barely cheese smell but not in a bad way and then some sweetness and fruit notes amazing fragrance you can find 3.4 oz of it on venbafragrance

I cant see why people is talking this down, its so beatiful yet so massappealing. It projects heavely on me and it pulls in alot of compliments every time I wear it, everyone I asked for opinions told me this is gooood(!) and I am yet to meet someone who dislike this scent. I do think this really needs a 2nd chance for many people though since this has grown on me alot.

senad05

I had it and sold it the next day. I couldn't bring myself to like the scent. There's something about it that makes it smell like olives to me, which is really unpleasant. When it has been sitting on the skin for a while, the rose comes out a bit in the scent, but otherwise it just smells like olives and is a headache.

Blue hulk

This one starts with a strong opening, a few seconds after that goes directly to the oud rose combo which is absolutely gorgeous, there’s a slight fruitiness in the background along with some florals. This is an extremely classy, room filling fragrance that , to me leans very much on the masculine. Fbw for me.

Christian Cantelli

This is the kind of fragrance that needs to be given a second chance and appreciated over time. The first ten minutes after application are unpleasant, smelling of paint, burnt tires and smoked meat; then it gradually improves, fruity and floral scents emerge with faint mineral nuances, actually becoming very nice. The fragrance becomes softer and more mellow, giving me the distinct impression that it is entirely synthetic. As it evolves, it becomes warm and enveloping, and the more time passes, the more it wins me over with its unique and special character, finally transforming into a soft, complex and interesting woody incense. To be tried on the skin, if your soul resonates with its unique notes, you will surely love it.

croatus

Smells like rotten or fermented fruit, hard pass. My mom liked it but I can't stand it.

Bob777

I see alot of hate towards 'More than words' by Xerjoff yet its an masterpiece of a fragrance much better than Ombre Nomade IMO but of course it has to grown on you, so be patient with it.

Jackie822

This was a blind buy that I had high hopes for. I love a strong fragrance but this was immediately migraine inducing. All I get when I spray this is stale beer, rotten fruit and an obnoxious sweetness. It last forever I had to scrub to get it off my skin and it still lingered.

hihero

My first Rose fragrance so I didn't know what to expect (loved Torino 21 and 40 knots preciously) however everything I've smelt from this house I love, however...

Extremely headache inducing for people around me. Hate to say it because I liked the sweet fruity oud and the rose floral dry down simply doesn't appeal to everyone. My girlfriend thought it smells ok which is something you don't really wanna hear about a $450 AUD fragrance. However she said that it made her feel sick and induced a headache where she was completely choked out. I did spray it 4x so it goes to show projection and longevity is huge. This one will divide a room. You might like wearing it but I don't think it's versatile enough compared to Torino or Naxos. This is strictly cold weather and dressed up formal. It will leave an impression just don't expect to leave a positive one to everyone.

toosimilar

Honestly, it reminds me of Rouat Al Oud by Lattafa
It's strong, but more soft than the above mentioned
Dont spray much, it can be dangerous even for you:)

Xerjoff Join The Club More Than Words

I blinded this because it was at a really good deal. Read up quite a bit on it and decided it's safe to blind without getting a decant as it shares similarities with LV Ombre Nomade. I haven't nosed Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie so I can't comment on their similarities.

With them being dominant rose and oud scents, both are rather different, especially in the opening and top notes. More than Words opens with a sweet honey like dried fruits and amber with a detectable light oud. Ombre Nomade opens smokey incensey and leathery.

However when it comes to the later scent development, the middle and base notes, they are somewhat similar for rose and oud notes. More than Words comes across as more versatile and fresher sweeter oud. Perhaps folks of sweeter fruity rose oud or fruity leather fans in the ballpark of TFTV or TFTL or even PdM Godolphin will like More than words. Whereas Ombre Nomade is darker, deeper smoky incensy leather rose oud.

Unless you cannot handle rose oud, I'll say this is pretty wearable and will get it's fair share of compliments.

Lampo

Quite nice and sweet fruity opening that fades quickly. Drydown unique, but not for me. I’m going to wear this a couple more times.

For now:
Scent 6/10
Sillage 9/10
Lognevity 10/10

If opening scent lasted until the end, I would give solid 8 to scent.

mmichaell14

This shit is ass what the f*ck, smells like cat piss mixed with amber shit makes me want to projectile vomit all over the fucking place.

Shits nuclear though

akshat_dudeja

I'll be very honest, I loved this perfume, definitely one of the best smelling rose oud combos out there. Perhaps it's just my personal opinion, I love collecting perfumes and I have way too many rose-oud combo scents that are heavy enough on the fruity-ambery side. Maybe it's me who's just bored of such specific kinda scents, but this one doesn't have any uniqueness factor to it. There's too many such perfumes, all high end niche stuff, that have scents in the similar category. So if you have a smaller collection and want a soft and uplifting oud, you can surely buy this as it's obviously lovely. But on a general note, if you're looking forward to go for something unique in the soft oud segment, trust me, this one does not smell that extraordinary. You'll pull a lot of compliments you'll get a lot of girls by wearing this, but just as a personal opinion i feel like this is not unique at all. Performance is lovely though, again saying this, try a few more scents of such type and only then decide which one you wanna go for, cuz once you get into too many rose-oud combos all this will simply become boring.

lmnsvgz

This is a very nice take on oud - it is sweet, but I don't feel like the oud is too heavy or overwhelming. There is a good balance and the end result is luxurious, it makes you feel complete when worn with a good outfit. I believe it is good in all seasons apart from very hot weather

PrincipeFilip

For me this is the best rose oud fragrance in the world. Completely unisex. Performance is fantastic

AP Riyadh

Great fragrance that performs best under 20C.
Ideal for cooler weather and ideally evenings. Fails to deliver during warmer days / outdoors.
Floral-Oud-Ambergris mix with the classy Xerjoff blending and slight powderiness in the base.
Above average longevity. Unisex and for those who prefer a stronger Oud and less sweet fragrances. Shukran Habibi!

Shanty36

Thank god I dished out a few dollars to get a sample of this before purchasing it in a set with other xerjoffs I wanted. This was the first fragrance that has ever made me feel sick. The opening is awful, the dry down is not as bad… the oud gets smoother and the sweetness comes out. But it’s so piercing and it just has this very nauseating mix of notes. DO NOT BLIND BUY. I will say though it is a beast and performs like mad. It was a scrubber for me, but even after soap I could still smell it so points for that if anything.

PlumSafari

This is a rose fragrance, very realistic and sweet. It does open slightly fecal upon first spray but it disappears within the first minute, most noticeable when you put your nose straight up to the fragrance, don't be like me. Has a slight similarity to Noir De Noir if they used the Rose Prick profile with the Oud and Saffron. As it dries down the labdanum begins to gently appear and it begins to smell more like s gentle version of Portrait of a Lady. It's refined and sexy leaving a soft, yet alluring sillage. Rose lovers, you need to try this if you haven't yet.

I don't find it fruity and the people saying there is an olive smell.....huh??? As with all perfumes, moisturise your skin before applying fragrance or spray on clothes, depending on fabric and colour.

AnastasiaGostieva

At first I thought that it smells very familiar. After a few seconds I realized that it’s a saffron/rose/oud combo with lots of vanilla and realised that it’s just a pure smell of Harrods (Ground floor smells like that I swear)))

This perfume has become my signature scent, and I consistently receive compliments when I’ve been wearing it. The longevity is exceptional, lingering on my skin for an entire day, and its sillage is impressive. I find myself reaching for it in all seasons, making it my favorite fragrance that stands the test of time.

Notes are sweet, a bit floral, and has a touch of oud. The fragrance strikes a perfect balance.
11 out of 10!

NNNnovicenichenose

A nuclear explosion of rich jammy yet unsweetened resinous fruits that develops into a sensual and opulent rose-oud composition.
I'm not a huge fan of deep rose in my fragrances, especially when it's the dominant note and More Than Words definitely sits in that category - I visualize a bouquet of luscious blood red roses, perfectly arranged in a fancy box. The composition overall evokes a sense of slightly over the top poshness and definitely calls for fine clothing (it's also quite the head turner, so it almost commands you dress appropriately).
Projection is pretty high the first couple of hours but the longevity is phenomenal.

More Than Words Xerjoff

More Than Words interprets Oud in Amber-bubble gum accord.
Contributes mostly by Fruity note.
This fruity note, this fruity nose came across in Many fragrance
(le nuit de l’homme le parfum, no 18 to pin point a few)

The floral nuance, is petty non-descriptive.
I think it white floral nuance in bubble gummy style and rose.

I think Rose note in this are the way fruity/floral note reacts,
it doesn’t seems authentic rose.

The keys point is quite dry fragrance and not powdery.
If Jo Malone Velvet rose and Oud / Oud Satin Mood is your preference of this oud style. You can def. Use it, this just slightly stronger, dryer interpretation.

I think this is unisex, but for the dryness of scent I would personally
classified as leans masculine.

Score 8/10
Projection : moderate strong for 3-4 hours, reduce significantly
Longevity: 9 hours+
Classification : Unisex leans masculine
Summary : The Sweet Bubble-Gum Oud

Ps. Oud in this are not really benyard or anything, I cannot reassure that they use real oud in this line, but from my nose it there but softer than usual compare to Astral, Xerjoff 2/3

MeguminLikesExplosives

Super delicious, smells like cookies or biscuits to me with some rum or maple syrup added on top

daco123223

One of the best fragrances I've smelled. Nuclear performance also.

Agent47

This is a Beast! I repeat, this is a Beast and not for juveniles but for a man who’s got his shit together. This is a wealthy man’s smell! This is More than words to describe this beautiful craftsmanship!

Mortarelli

This has got to be the best crafted fragrance in my books. The first spray does smell a bit like olives, but as it settles over the following hour, it turns into a beautiful sweet oud and lasts more than 48 hours on my skin. It really is one of those scents you have to stop and admire for a second when you walk past it. Considering the quality I would not say this one is overpriced.

umutakgun

it’s smells like olive paste in the opening.

dunlop

this is the maximum level of fragrence that a humen being can ever reach.

Monster in Indoor events but not for hugh school
Highest quality ingredients
Suitable for 17-40 ages not a rich grandpa scent
Fills the whole room and lasts 24-26 hours
Amazing projection in first hours

Overall: Infinity/10

JmThms

This is a pretty good Amber Floral Fruity Oud scent. Common genre, but fruit notes "puts the cherry on the parfait" so to speak, for any fragrance in this genre. I especially like dried fruit notes and I imagine they are part of the "fruity notes" melange. I have Dolce&Gabbana The One Mysterious Night, which is one of the major comparison fragrances for More Than Words, and it is similar. But I also have D&G The One Luminous Night, which is the flanker with the big fat sweet date note sitting in that creamy bed of amber, instead of the rose of Mysterious Night. More Than Words, with both fruity and floral notes, kinda sits between or is a combination of the two D&G's in profile. It's been a while since I've worn either D&G but from memory they may have even better performance, but concede a bit in nuance and complexity to More Than Words. In fact, this may be my second favorite Amber fragrance, behind MDCI Chypre Palatin. Yes, although both have a lot more going on than just Amber and many consider them as primarily representing other genres, I consider both complex Amber scents. The Amber accord in both is the most dominant in their respective accord stacks. I did get the weird "blue cheese" smell in More Than Words but only in the first minute or so and only at the point of a heavy application on left wrist. It was a brief anomaly that was gone in a minute. More Than Words is worth a full bottle for me only at a very good price. The presentation is first-rate so I'm hoping I can find it at a great price.

Feroz.k.ak

Just Wow!!!

arissvs

Novelista Saffron Whisper smells exactly the same, like super mega similar! But still I'm very dissapointed of this one, i expected more than that classic arabic combination Wood/oud+rose+saffron! I can say that is unisex, although I think that leans more masculine! You have to try this one before, because it is very heavy!

Duci0167

Room filler definitely! Believe me :) just it was a Post office. I came in and after 5 sec everybody turn back their heads towards me. 3 sprays were enough to fill a lot of space. To me it have so much similarity with Ombre Nomade.
Just so you people know. This scent is heavy as f! Nothing playful just sometimes even sickening if sprayed to much or on wormer days.

Magellan0101

The kind of scent where, as you walk through the room, people catch the trail of your scent and look to see where it's coming from...a real show stopper.
Sexy, spicy and seductive mix of berries, rose, oud and patchouli ( that's what I smell)..Really nice performance. Definitely unisex. A nighttime date night scent.
Not for the shy...

Not everything is for everybody but regardless - if we’re speaking on the scent itself - this smells amazing … and I’m no big fan of agarwood but I give this babe a perfect 10. I would wear this but not frequently - this is speciaL.

Chesterton

It is interesting that many reviewers have noted this as feminine. It definitely opens with a strong floral scent but on my skin that dies out pretty quickly to be replaced by a concord of fruits, specifically dried fruits that I associate with pineapple and apricot. I did get a reaction from a lunch guest and it was negative so there is something that some people smell, an astringency, that I don't pick up. I will note that she was the only one that I came in contact with that smelled it that picked up that note. The dry down is much more masculine and you get there in a relatively short amount of time.

I also place this more in the daytime because of the fruit than many of the reviewers. It lasted on my clothing for well over twelve hours and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

SRusackas

I have been smelling this for hours… the first and only thing that comes to my mind is that this smells exactly like Miami Florida. I have never had a fragrance transport me to previous destinations or places. Only vague memories. This makes me remember specific venues, events, and locations- all in Miami Florida. Unbelievable. If you have never been to Miami here is what you will most likely get one of two feelings from this: 1. You will experience a complete vacation in a bottle or 2. You’ll smell like an old Cuban guy.

Carlitos

XerJoff deliberately does not publish a note pyramid for his fragrances. The scents should convey a specific scent image, and that usually works very well. "More Than Words" is dedicated to a specific circle. That of literature, specifically the writer and the reader. The scent transports you to a powerful, gloomy, old library, and the enjoyment of this fragrance may depend a lot on your imagination.
Nevertheless, the scent is a powerful and dense one and does not leave you much space to wander around in thoughts. You have a strong frame of raspberry, patchouli, rose, amber and oud. But there is a strong accord of dried fruits that really puts some distance between "More Than Words" and other Rose-Ouds out there.

PaulSell

Grandma's bloomer drawer ! (Not that I would know!) Gents- anyone else notice the "dead beer" opening ? I'm guessing that it's a blast of oud. Fortunately, it doesn't persist. Nice rose oud. I get deep, rich powder in the drydown. Leans just a bit too feminine (perhaps matronly?) for my tastes. But I surely will finish up my 2ml discovery set sample.

Sleekdecadence

Is it possible I feel rose, oud and kiwi fruit?!
It's nice and unique, rather feminine.

Nosebleeder

Out of all the different Xerjoff’s fragrances I’ve tested, this was the most memorable one out of them. I see a lot of comments lean more feminine, and I don’t completely disagree. However I think femm fragrance like this one is such a compliment to any person leaning either fem or masc.
definitely fall / winter.

Rodrigo2023

Actually it’s not a unisex fragrance, it’s totally feminine. That said, it’s a very good one, a bit dated, reminds me the 80’s but what is good will be always good. A perfect blend of rose-oud, very sexy! It’s a fragrance that Sharon Stone would use on Basic Instinct.

joziekonczalnose

Glad I didn’t blind buy this, wanted so badly to love it but this one is an immediate headache for me. The notes are promising but it’s SO strong. Definitely sample before buying if you’re sensitive to overpowering scents.

LLdeduction

Smells like rosé champagne and blueberry muffins. Really potent juice, my nose hairs got disintegrated by smelling the atomizer up close.

Love it

scentedfella

Smell is intoxicating. For me this leans feminine and sexy. Has notes of fermented fruits and florals. Makes me think of dessert wine. Perfect scent for date night paired with black mini dress.

Wafflepuffs

Very interesting fragrance, it's hard to say it's absolutely unique, but the rose and the oud isn't a deafeningly animalic and smells rather lotion-y on skin. Fantastic blend of oriental notes, uniqueness of oud, and a soft rose that makes up a majority of the scent. Quite lovely, wouldn't pay the price of a full bottle however.

Nocciola23

The fragrance itself is nice, it's strong, sweet and syrupy but not in a feminine way. It's unisex. One spray is enough, or more than enough really. You definitely don't want this bottle leaking anywhere.
This is nice, but to me it is so similar to Shaghaf Oud by Swiss Arabian! With that in mind, it's hard to imagine forking out this much money for Xerjoff.

Duci0167

Just love Join the club from Xerjoff. Especially when there are no notes so we can all just relax and enjoy. Not for beginners nose that for sure. It's a bunch of florals and God knows what else but I don't care. Great performer as everybody says. It's worth of money.

CAMERON LEON

Getting into fragrances this last year I have sampled roughly 100 fragrances. I always heard about animalic/barn yard ouds but this one is the first for me. Ew lol

Sesquialtera

If you like this one, you will really get your money's worth in terms of longevity. One little spray and you walk around for the next 12 hours smelling like a bear has marked its territory on your wrist. Really not for the faint hearted.
It's strange as the beginning is quite soft and ambiguous but after a few minutes that hard- edged labdanum tang comes to the fore and just hangs around forever.

RGH01

From the very beginning, Xerjoff’s More Than Words is intensely fruity, it seems to be a combination of lots of different fruits and creates an almost overwhelming burst of juiciness. Floral notes soon begin to shine, namely rose, which only adds to the sweetness of this fragrance.

While official notes are not listed for this fragrance, it is undoubtedly led by rose. The rose seems slightly synthetic unfortunately, and the fruity notes can be sickly sweet at times so this fragrance isn’t one to overspray.
I’m not sure why the leading accord listed here is oud, as it is completely undetectable from my bottle.

All I’m left with is an overwhelmingly sweet rose fragrance with not even the slightest hint of any woody notes. It’s a pleasant fragrance but I’m disappointed by the lack of oud, which I imagine if it was present would balance the other notes in here beautifully. I am unsure whether older batches might be more what I was looking for.

adikalon123

Just got this recently and i love it

sandra_101

Woody grape soda? That checks out. This has the Xerjoff dna that I love from Alexandria II and Naxos, but it is not as refined. It's more brash. New money trying to smell like old money. Also a bit sharp and headachy for me. Whereas the others I've worn have been gorgeously gender neutral, I feel like this doesn't smell right on me but I would be curious to smell it on a man.

Kiwy

Excellent fragrance, Woods with roses, with a creamy touch. Unisex, more for the masculine side, 12+ hours and lasts days in clothes. Casual / Formal. Versatile, except extreme heat. I have received more compliments than when I use NAXOS.

JamesGamez

Smells like black olive juice mixed with grape soda.

This is long lasting and projects well. Just doesn’t vibe with me, and is headache inducing.

MikeRauch

Probably my worst blind buy to date. Based on the notes and reviews I assumed it would be another good oud/rose. I was wrong. Although I believe it's not a bad quality fragrance, it has this saccharine like thick sweetness that's pervasive throughout the duration. I got really tired and annoyed by it a couple of hours in, and it lasted about 18 hours. The initial spray also has this extreme medicinal feel that starts it off on the wrong foot. This would be good for cooler weather as it is heavy and syrupy. I think this will be good for some, but unfortunately not for me. On a positive note, the bottle and presentation are amazing. It comes packaged in a very nice box, and the bottle is an amazing design and high quality. The only addition I would like to see at that price would be a magnetic cap, as the one used is a bit stiff. A rare dislike from me.

morejmh

Very reminiscent of Xerjoff’s “Bouquet Ideale”. Good sillage and feels expensive. To me, this smells like an ambery resin, mulled fruit, and wood. I like to picture fragrances as colors, in which case, this feels like deep gold and burgundy.

matinam83

Am i the only one who gets SA Shaghaf Oud strong vibes???

Srebrina

This is reminiscent of MFKs oud satin mood, but without the vanilla. Instead you have a sharp fruity-woody combo, as in many other trendy scents, plus the creamy rose. The result is a very feminine, firty blend much better than the MFK, which tends to get too jammy and suffocating on me. It reminds me distantly of Rose Cafe and K Bridge club, but this is way better blended, multifaceted and interesting. beast mode projection, one of the few Xerjoffs I enjoy

floszra

I think it smells almost identical to Oud Pashmina by Montale. Maybe the oud is sharper in the Montale and MTW is sweeter and more well-blended and rounded. So it's better, but definitely doesn't worth the 4x price. Go and get Oud Pashmina instead.

Tunzz

Oud satin mood in the opening, Delina Exclusif in the dry down. Longevity is beast mode. Definitely not as sweet as those two though. This is dry and dense oud.

Laurus

I thought that I dislike all woody fragrances untilI tried this. I think because I tried woody fragrances that were too sweetened with vanilla. This one is possibly my favourite of all times. The refreshing fruits with woody is just hauntingly beautiful. I can not get enough. It reminds me a bit of Angel Nova because of fresh fruitiness with agarwood but I like More than Words better. I feel like Angel Nova lasted longer on me but it might be the tempersture issue.

Crazyups12

I have Montale’s Rose Cafe on my left hand and More than Words in my right hand. Rose Cafe is DiCaprio More than Words is Brad Pitt. Much more mature and elegant

Mr. Fisk

I have Portrait of a Lady, Montale's Black Aoud, Oud Satin/Silk Mood with both extraits. I seem to prefer More than Words for my skin chemistry. I can see why some are saying it smells of 'grape' soda. I'm wearing it today and projection is nowhere near the likes of Black Aoud or the Mood ones as it seems to project only arms length. I plan to get a bottle in the future.

orangelips11

More than words is not the typical oud and rose combo, I smell a lots of fruity notes and then oud, also lots of floral scent, but not only rose, its a complex fruity, floral and oud scent, so its standout from the others oud rose fragrances,
performance not a issue for this gem

I give More than words

9/10

EJJ

(Grape Soda!)This fragrance was a journey. At first I was disappointed. I thought this was going to be a winter powerhouse that cut through the cold and it is not.

Someone in the comments mentioned it smelled like sparkling champagne and that description brought me closer to understanding this fragrance.

More Than Words smells exactly like grape soda or rose champagne. Understanding that it is light and effervescent changes everything. It's more of a spring night formal fragrance that performs well. This is very nice for that occasion, just remember grape soda.

ularewolf

After getting some samples of fragrances from Xerjoff I thought I would like the most, I just have to face the fact that this house is not for me. Aside from Naxos and Richwood, I have yet to find a Xerjoff I would want to buy, even as a decant.

This is a decent oud/rose combo; however, it's been done a million times over. This smells more like a Montale fragrance, whether you take that as a compliment or not. It smells like if Intense Cafe had some of the vanilla stripped and added a synthetic oud.

Overall: Meh.

Fountain30

Smells like champagne! So beautiful! Performance is great. Xerjoff are quickly becoming my favourite house, they just perform so well

nata1972

This is just beautiful!! Tried many oud and rose combos including Armani Rose D’Arabie but nothing stands close to this. Was looking for something similar to LV Ombré Nomad and I do like MTW better as I feel ON has become too popular and I smell it often. This was a blind buy and it’s everything I wanted. Absolutely stunning!! 50ml will last you forever, good investment!!!

Amazing juice, totally unisex, very complex

“Join the Club's philosophy is that ingredients are kept a closely guarded secret, instead inviting the wearer to immerse themselves in the imagined world.” (From Xerjoff’s website)

I have had hate and love -relationship with my all Xerjoff’s perfumes. First I have been relieved that I don’t want some particular scents but after I have given time for those and been testing those during weeks I have felt in love and I don’t see the end. 🙈 I have sampled A LOT from that house and for me it has been the only perfume house whose perfumes needs weeks from me to realize how much I love those.

This addictive perfume for my nose is blend of rose and oud for sure but there is woody, fruity and other floral notes as well. This definitely is not sweet at all despite of fruity accord. Those are dry fruits rather than juicy ones and the rose is definitely unisex, not at all like rose in the traditional rose scents. This blend is really thick and lasting power is great.

When I sampled this I was thinking “this is definitely not for me” and what happened! 😅

12/06/22

This is a perfect story from totally dislike to love. This is how I experienced the scent from the first second until I bought FB and can’t get enough from it.

1. Not any good vibes but not tested on skin yet.
2. Testing: somehow addictive and intoxicating, it reminds me of rose and oud plus some fruits. This is a little bit spicy as well. Not sweet (I like sweets as well but this is not). Good quality, not synthetic feelings.
3. I have tested this now for many days on my wrist and I don’t know exactly what I’m thinking of this. I just know that I want to sniff it all the time. This is really intoxicating. It’s blended well because all notes which I can notice are not so outstanding. For example rose and oud is there but not like in Tiziana Terenzi’s Gold Rose Oud (just an example).
4. Ordered because the test vial was finishing and I wanted more. I’m hooked in this! I like because this is different than others. I don’t know other scent which is this kind of interesting blend.

princessofperfumes

This is an amazing scent. Yes, the price is high but it really worths.
Just one spray it stays more than 12 hours on skin.
And the sillage is endless.
So, you can use 50 ml for very long time.
Just give a chance and smell, taste, live this gorgeous scent;)

mohamedabdelreheim

Current fav Oud/ Rose combo. Wearing this side by side with MFK Oud satin mood extrait; they’re similar but MTW has more depth/spice to it. Prefer over MFK OSM. Beastly performance and can get on sale for 170$ ish on jomashop

CottoCelina2022

I waited for sample of this one for a very long time, and finally got it. I must say i was both blown away and disappointed.

First sniff was boozy, sweet, heavy, warm, addictive and i liked that. I could smell some woody smoke, florals, rum and honey . One sprits lasted for at least 6 hours with very strong projection. It was in my face, kept getting whiffs of it. It is strong no joke.

But then after a couple of hours it turned sour and headachy. Now all I could smell was wet and sour fireplace and kool aid cherry, i felt sick... So it's a no for me.

KerriZ

All I can say is wowzers! this is a beast. The pungent combo of oud and floral punches you in the face! it is strong. lasts long. You definitely smell yourself coming and going. I love it.

The Wolf

I tried this on skin along with several other Xerjoff and Tizziana Terrenzi fragrances at Neimans. As I continued to shop, went to dinner, etc, I kept getting wafts and it easily overpowered the others. 1 spray only and this thing was projecting like an absolute monster for many hours. It's now 6.5 hours later and all the other fragrances are gone, but I can still smell this. However, the oud/ambergris combination does not smell all that good on my skin.

As others have said, there's a rotten cheese vibe that I don't remember being there when I tried this in the past. Reformulation? I don't know. What I do know is that I have smelled high quality oud and ambergris, and this ain't it. There's some facets I think are okay, but that oud/ambergris is borderline offensive, even in the cold weather.

Pop my balloons 🎈and downvote if you wish, but I'm not a fan of this anymore, although I still love others from the house.

Scent 3/10
Performance 9.5/10

P-Nay

Xerjoffs MTW has a warm and sensual undercurrent with it, orientally vanillic to my snout! It also has a translucent plumminess with it as well~sweet and resinous, tangled with a great balance of notes. Once nestled into the skin, some rose peaks in and competes with the oud, gently tames the sweetness. Each of the notes play their own role and harmoniously and jointly offset oneanother. An impressive, mesmeric, fancy, beautiful, suitably refined fragrance. Have nothing but love and respect for this frag. An efforless buy for sure, in my humble opinion. Hope this review helps

Kjojr

One of my favorites from this house. Rose+Oud combo wow. This one and Nishane Mana are right now the ones i reach for this season. Beautiful

Veronica1962

This perfume is a heavy wood scent and smells like olive oil mixed with a very old wood, not my kind of scent 3/10

Lizthegirl

Nuclear compliment snatcher, a more refined/complex version of Montale's Starry Nights.

CAF911

Equal parts rose, oud, fruits, and ambergris. Slightly cheesy. Performance is OK.
Nothing too unique but I find myself reaching for it a lot 🤷♂️ It’s addictive.

Rougemaison

In the very beginning I get a fecal oud, but only for a minute. It then dries down to this amazing rose oud combo! I can’t decide weather I want this or not considering the fecal opening. I will have to test this one more to decide. I am wondering what other fragrances there are like this one but without the fecal opening, that to me would be heaven.

Update:
Okay so I have tested this some more and can confirm I am in love and need this one in my collection! The fecal note in the opening is almost non existent to my nose now. It smells soo luxurious and will be the perfect night time or winter scent. I must say that this is a beast mode for me, only one to two sprays is needed which is amazing.

MQS

This is Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie.

Vegas Pauli

Maybe it's just me but I get a very strong fecal note in this. At first sniff I absolutely hated it, but to give it a fair chance I put some on. I picked up a friend at the airport and when she got in the car, she immediately noticed and said I smelled amazing. With that in mind, I gave this another test run this weekend as I went to a concert. I kept getting whiffs of this all night (the stuff is nuclear strength) but all I could smell is that fecal note with some sour, low tide smelling ambergris. It is distinctive, well made and projection and longevity is off the charts but something in this just turns my stomach a bit. Maybe it's just me, but I just can't do this one.

Shawn330

My favorite rose oud. For the price it can’t be beat this and comandante are my loves the musk and ambergris go metallic and I absolutely love it I get a brown sugar as well beautiful metallic oriental perfume that last and last
This is very similar to rose omyeade by atelier des ors, but MTW is better

A fruity flowery oud explosion!!

I navigated through the Xerjoff site looking for the exact composition of this magical liquid without any luck… there are fruits in it… yes, a lot of fruits… there are flowers in it… yes, a lot of flowers… there is Oud in it… yes, very soft and very clean… but what exact ingredientes create this potion is still unknown… and for some reason that’s the way Xerjoff wants it to be…

In this alchemist formula there is also a very lovely ambery accord from the Labdanum… some warm undefined but very rich spices… and enough Ambergris to make it a true Xerjoff.

I understand the rose/oud comparisons, however, the assortment of fruits in this juice, plus the ambery/spiciness create an elevated, luxurious and surprising new take on that classic combination… Chris Maurice did an amazing job reinterpreting while staying true to Xerjoff… that is also why I understand people mentioning this perfume can be polarizing… yes, it certainly can be… but it wouldn’t be Xerjoff otherwise.

This was my very first niche fragrance, and the first time I wore it I didn’t get it… for me it was just a strong, very present and very expensive weird smelling perfume… so I wore it to a family dinner just for the conversation, and haven’t wore it again ever since… at the beginning of one’s journey through this amazing world of fragrances, it is very hard to really understand perfumery… specially this kind of perfumery… in fact, back then I thought of myself as a Ginger/Aquatic/Blue kind of guy… boy, was I wrong… but now, several months and almost 300 perfumes later, I can confidently say this concoction is amazing and I love it, it’s just addictive and intoxicating!

As for performance… it’s an absolute beast, it has been more than two hours since I sprayed myself and this perfume keeps projecting it’s magical aura strongly… I will update later on longevity, although I’m already betting that it will be very present for quite a long time.

***Update***

It’s been 12+ hours since I sprayed myself, I have already washed my face once, and my arms a couple of times, and this perfume keeps going strong… projection is now intimate but very present.

More Than Words has evolved from the original oud accord, which is now almost gone, to a fruity creamy somewhat animalic scent, which has me completely addicted. I truly love it!

pianogoon

Oud, fruity and floral. Not normally what I go for or look for in a fragrance but this has had a fair bit of hype so decided to test at the same time as Fars

I didn’t like the opening but once it calmed down it was much nicer and the floral fruitiness wasn’t so forward.

It’s a nice smell and leans slightly more feminine than Fars which I have on my other arm.

It reminds me of using a floral/ rose smelling hand soap and moisturiser in someone’s house. Not mine as I don’t really want to smell like this

orangelips11

I tested this one today, the sample was my friend gave me, my friend said he hate the dry down, but to me, I kinda like it, This one seems like quite polarizing, and the oud and fruity note smell a little bit midden east style, and I agreed the comment below, its leaning a bit feminine, I like it maybe I will grab a bottle

overall

8.5/10

SMDaka

It smells like red bush tea lol - it's a no from me. I've heard great things though so you might like it

Cmartins

Urgent cry :(

Is anyone selling vintage or older bottles of this? I am currently obsessed with the darker juice as it is more Oudy which I love. Preferably 100ml bottle, don't mind if it's a partial but a reasonable amount.

Anything before 2019 is good. Please contact me on instagram: @Cmarts___ or @Scentfluencer or you can find me on facebook at Christiana Martins

Thank you!!

Sully92

As soon as I sprayed my sample of this it strongly reminded me of something I had in my collection. It took me a while to figure it out but I got it, the opening of this smells very similar to delina exclusif. Very fruity rose opening. As it dries down a bit of spices, oud and those woody notes start to show though but it still smells very delinaish.
No idea what date the bottle is from that they decanted this so it could well be an older bottle but the performance is pretty darn good. Strong projector for 4-5 hours, lasted about 12 hours on my skin.
I think some western men may find this a bit too feminine but I think it would smell great on anyone. It's not my favorite from this house but it's very nice.

Momoscents

I definitely get a sort of cola vibe from this. Surprised nobody mentioned it.

Godsonn75

Is it me or does the opening of this remind of MFK oud silk mood?

scholar1

Wore this for the first time today and all I can smell is CAIRO CAIRO CAIRO from Penhaligon's. I will test it out a bit further to see if I still agree. Don't get me wrong, I love Cairo absolutely love it, but I thought MTW would have been different.
Until..
edit: ok sooo i came home and sprayed each on my hands and sniffed to see what the differences were. The MTW is a bit cooler(fresher) in the opening than Cairo, which is a warmer scent...the rose and saffron in the Cairo give it a spicy welcoming feel. MTW is a bit more laid back and not as 'inviting'. the main similarities to me come in the heart where there are florals and fruity notes in the MTW and the vanilla and labdanum in the Cairo. they both smell sweetish and slightly boozy, again the Cairo is slightly more warm in feel than the MTW.
The dry down i am assuming will also have similarities between the two as they both share woody notes and labdanum.
in the drydown (as a final edit) the main difference was that MTW remained a fresh spicy while the Cairo was definitely a warm spicy. they both had the similar slightly milky spicy feel though. I love them both

bottlepop

I love Xerjoff but to me MTW does not worth it. As others have mentioned it is similar to so many other rose-oud fragrances. All I can smell is rose for the first 2-3 hours then very nice oud, but the longevity is far from great on my skin. It might be because of the refurmolation, but I was expecting at least 10 hours and after the 5th hour it is a skin scent. It is a beautiful fragrance, no doubt, but I cannot justify its price.

$¢enta$ti¢

Great mature fragrance. I can see what Xerjoff was doing when they made this fragrance. This fragrance is lovely and smells regal. I can see people wearing this to weddings and special formal events.

Scent profile: JTC Xerjoff more than words to me smells like Rose d'Arabie by Armani and also MFK’s oud satin mood. However, this is missing that underlying powdery nuance that both Rose d'Arabie and oud satin mood have.

This fragrance is definitely unisex however I don’t see women wearing this as this leans a tinge more masculine and it’s suited better for mature men over 35+

The oud and rose combo in this fragrance along with fruity accords and the ambergris rounds out this fragrance. Also, this fragrance is a beast in performance and sillage and there’s nothing to my nose that smells synthetic it’s actually blended very well it is linear through and through from the opening to the dry down.

CharlieSparta

Tested this with multiple noses. It is a warm sweet scent but everyone and I could smell the oud (mild). Oud to my nose has a body odor stank to it and again, at least to me this is not a good thing. I suppose if you like mild Oud then this and Alexandria II are good bets but this was a scrub for me.

dilettante

Quite similar to Alghabra Poem de Damas, to my nose. Both last an "eternity" and need very little application. Beautiful fragrances.

grachamb

it smells like grape soda

alvinzm

More Than Words was the second Xerjoff I have ever tried, and it is so pleasant. I'm kinda surprised it is rated that low on websites like Fragrantica.

It smells like a typical oud + rose combo, but I do get the fruitiness, other florals, woodiness, and also the oriental notes here. That fruitiness is probably what makes it more enjoyable to me, since it is quite hard for an oud + rose combo to attract my attention.

It is a very strong fragrance that can last for more than 12 hours on my skin, with a heavy projection too. The sillage is also beautiful in the air.

The opening can be pretty harsh for some. But it is just a great smelling fragrance to me, from the opening to the far drydown.

Is it the best Xerjoff I have tried?
Absolutely not, I prefer Alexandria II, Naxos, and some of the others.

Is it good?
No, it is awesome.

I'm looking forward to discover more Xerjoffs as I've been getting really intrigued to try more from this house lately. I have only smelled around a dozen Xerjoffs so far, and even the worst one is still a strong like for me.

Britesardine

This lasts and lasts for days even weeks It won't come off unless you shower and clean your clothes even then it will still be some traces left

Ezekiel

The Oud in this is on the woody side and a nice one. The floral and fruit are subtle and blends well with the Oud. The labdanum adds leather smell making leather the dominant note. The frankincense gives a nice fresh balsamic aroma.

cfman

More Than Words (MTW) is a Frankincense, Fruity, Woody, Rose Bomb. Many have mentioned Oud, but it is almost non-existant to my nose. Overall it's a strong rose scent and its a little too strong/harsh for my liking. I believe it can be worn by men or women, but for me, it leans too far toward the feminine side (mature feminine). One person stated, “I picture a wealthy, middle-aged woman in Dubai spraying this on before heading out to spend a fortune in one of those luxury malls they have over there like the Mall of the Emirates.”, which I agree with. MTW has great longevity and sillage, possibly more than you would like. Do not wear this to the office!

*loves_shoes*

Fruity, floral (Rose) oud. Sweet and sour/tart, with strong oud, overall it’s a bit sickly to be honest until it settles after an hour.
I did a blind test of this and it was a bit nauseating. I then looked it up and read the notes and suddenly I’m like, yes, I can smell that. I think too many people are swayed by the house, hype etc, and actually the smell is not that great. It’s ok. Def not worth the money if judging the smell blind. There are so many fruity Rose ouds out there.
The things it has in common with Delina is the tartness which in Delina is from the rhubarb, and Rose. How is Rose not listed in the notes here?! They both share that tart, sourness that can be cloying and sickly in hot weather.

Nnfigui

just got this and was a little scared it would be awful.. and I love it!!

have only worn it twice and got so many compliments.. on my skin it smells like Delina!!
a much fruittier version but very similar ...

Am I the only one that is getting this ?????

Nbebis

Chris Maurice has created a wonderful twist on a rather played out combo by adding sweet and slightly sour fruits to bring out the playfulness of the rose and contrast the dark woodiness of the oud! The fruits that are in this composition are mostly berries to my nose, they are sweet but not syrupy, the rose definitley has similarities with Armani Rose D'Arabie but the two fragrances are still quite different. More than words is much more playful while Rose D'Arabie has a more stern character. The oud provides a woody and slightly smoky aspect that pairs well with both the rose and the fruits and prevents the fragrance from becoming so sweet it becomes cloying. The scent is perfectly unisex and has great longevity and silage. I can see someone wearing this as a casual fragrance or a clubbing fragrance due to its playful qualities, but I can not see this as an office or a formal scent for that same reason. Overall a great fragrance!

• XERJOFF MORE THAN WORDS •

بعد أن تمكنت هذه الدار من لفت انتباهي ببعض العطور التي جربتها سابقا، كنت أنتظر تجربة عطور الدار الأخرى، إذ سمحت لي الفرصة أن أجرب عطر MORE THAN WORDS.

This scent is worth the hype. Love the combination and how it wraps itself around you. Alghabra poem of damas is very very similar if you want a cheaper version of this.

Darkside0127

OMG, love the house, hate this juice! I cannot get past the resinous odor of benzoin and rose. It's very sweet; not masculine (whatever that means) to my nose. It does last forever so I had to launder everything after I wore it. Opens very warmly but then the rose and benzoin [I know it's not listed] overpowers and does not go away. Not a blind buy in my opinion. I really like some of the other Xerjoff creations better. To me a clone of Grand Soir!

mje2004

Very close to a Spirit of Dubai fragrance that I have. I will have to check when I get home. Maybe a mix of Taurath and/or Diwan. hmmmm....interesting and a great fragrance!

rayt

A very nice smelling oud and rose combo, but dayyyummm this is a brash loud and aggressive fragrance! If you love beastly fragrance's, then this might be right up your alley! As for me though, I don't want my fragrance to wack everyone over the head.. how rude..

mommymilkers

smells like cheese sticks to me, I can't explain it. And, take this as a positive or negative statement, but it lasts a little over 24 hours, so i had to smell like a cheese stick ready to be gobbled up for a whole day. this was a traumatizing fragrance for me.

KoceFF

Kinda reminds me of Oud Touch by F.Oliver.

TunyaPe

Wearing MTW is as though I am witnessing a battle of chaos (of notes) or it is as though the feeling when you are conquering the beast.

This is not just another rose oud. Scent wise, I do not care about redundant composition word of mouth. You get the raw smelling of the ingredients: ambergris, oud, sour fruits, spices, wood, rose, etc. which sets itself apart. Everything in this bottle is the bomb. It is one of the scents for naturally confident and unapologetic people.

The only negative thing I could think of is that I would not be able to wear different perfume on the following day as it lasts 2 days on my skin.

Ricks44

Recently coming to appreciate certain xerjoff fragrances after many years in the game. I decided to test this out. Terrible. I love oud and oud inspired fragrances. This is just bland. Save your money.

cwavah

all i get is alot of oud and rose ......... definetly not really for me not unique in my humble opinion , reminds me of hugo boss oud saffron

realtyisme

This is one of my favorite fragrances. The fruity oud floral notes are very well balanced. This is one of the fragrances that I thoroughly enjoy enough just to wear around the house but have predominantly worn to formal occasions. I cannot help but smile when wearing this...a truly "feel good" fragrance.
As an added bonus, I've also found it to be a compliment magnet.

Fragranciones

This is a very interesting fragrance. At first it smells slightly similar to Accento Overdose or Erba Pura, but then it develops into sweet ambery warmness with fruity sparkling. It then changes into more fruity or more sweet fragrance and always does have slightly different smell. Mysterious and oriental, but never quite the same. Though I should say it's definitely overpriced (like most of Xerjoff, if not all) and if you search hard you can find similar fragrances from Arabian brands for much cheaper prices. I also should say that they won't have the same multifaceted nature. But if you enjoy one aspect of it more than others you should check Arabian brands out, as this definitely took heavy inspiration from them.

wxmath

This is not a special cologne and I won't be buying a replacement. There are others that are similar for the price that are better in my opinion. Also, sillage and longevity not that great.

librabeing

This is pretty straightforward to my nose. It's not very remarkable. I don't love it or hate it. I feel like many people already smell like this, so it doesn't feel unique at all.

Fransevens

This is a magic and perfect blended. I won’t talk much here. Try it yourself, and feel the “magic” with this perfume. I guarantee 1 bottle will not be enough to fulfill your desire. And you won't be disappointed. Trust me!!! WOW!!!! This perfume is only for a big boss, has a high position, and has (at least) 1 Ferrari car. I smell lot of “money” in this perfume.

LaContessina

More than Words is (or was?) an excellent fragrance.
My sample is from 2012, obtained right from the House during the Excence exhibition in Milan that year.
I am smelling it right now.
It's a beautiful, dense fruity aoud. Fruits are dried and caramelized,
Mellow, accompanied by patchouli, a rounded one (no wet or moist/mould patch here).
Then enters the rose; well rose and oud are a sure match used countless times, here there is a striking resemblance to Lancome Oud Bouquet (that i also own). MTW is just a tad more masculine, cause leather and woods have their saying. A hint of tobacco, too.
It's a super long-lasting, genderless, statement frag.
Not sure about the current version (haven't tried).
I hear many Xerjoffs have been diluted and/or reformulated, and this is a shame as their prices are rocketing instead of decreasing (as Montale did, for example).

yxcyxc

Am I the only person who thinks it smells similar to Santal Royal? A fruity version. It's slightly sharper. Santal Royal is smoother, smokier and darker. I prefer Santal Royal more, but More than words is still a good scent. Very unisex.

RayCashhhh

I've been looking for a cheaper alternative to Lyric Man, as I believe that is the perfect Rose fragrance for men. I've tried several others, but to no avail; they just weren't up to par. I was all set to bite the bullet and get a full bottle of Lyric Man, until I tried More Than Words. It has a lot going on; it opened up and I could pick up raspberry, strawberry, cedar, and rose. What you pick up changes a lot the longer you wear it: I was able to pick up oud, cinnamon, perhaps clove, as well as Lily of the valley and ambergris. It has a freshness with the rose note that definitely reminds me of Lyric Man, while also reminding me a bit of Nanban by Arquiste. I think this has a bit of something for everyone to enjoy, or at least appreciate. I would say try it first, but I think I would rate this as full-bottle worthy. 8.5/10

FreddyK

It smells divine. You get the oud mixed with floral notes. To my nose, it's a concoction between man and woman. The sweetness is dominant here. The performance is eternal.

RamsesII

This used to be nice until 2019 or so then the formulation changed.
It used to be a great rose oud with insane performance. Now it’s watered down and performance is barely average. Also quality of ingredients is different. It now smells like your typical rose oud that you can get for $30

Totally not worth it in 2021

RottigrlNYC

This “perfume” is vomit inducing disgusting. Xerjoff has used the cheapest most garbage fecal Oud in this one. But that’s what’s Xerjoff does, cheap ingredients in a fancy bottle that’s extremely overpriced. They took Mysore out of Richwood and replaced it with cheap patchouli and kept the price the same. Richwood is NOT worth $450 and ounce. Never. But greedy despicable Xerjoff loves ripping stupid ppl off. Irisss too, there is only a very very tiny bit of actual Iris in Irisss. They used cheap carnation and carrot seeds. Why do ppl still buy anything from this greedy house? There are many many much better perfume houses out there. Amazing small Indie perfume houses who are creating art in perfumery. For every single one of Xerjoffs perfumes, I can find u alternatives that are a million times better.

chiraghbir

Rose D arabie & MTW similar .. LMFAO

People gone crazy honestly .. There is absolutely no comparison.

maddy.cucu

Fruity oudy!

IMO, if Montale Oudmazing and FM Portrait of a Lady had a baby - would be this!
Super smooth yet powerful. Incredible blend and love at first sniff.

Ps - Matt Richardson's “Eau de Blueberry Muffin” comment below is accurate and I'm crying laughing.

AMajeedQT

Sweeter Rose d'Arabie.

More Than Words (MTW) is Xerjoff's take on Armani's 2010 instant hit Rose d'Arabie (RdA). However, MTW falls flat in comparison.

MTW has the same sweet, rose, oriental scent that RdA is known for, but MTW lacks the woodiness and warmth that gave RdA its character. Instead, MTW ends up sweeter & louder.

It is an Arabic, rosey, sweet scent, with a dash of oud. The oud is not very perceivable on its own but it gives MTW that Arabic/oriental smell. That same smell could likely be acquired from the oriental notes.

This RdA smell alike is slightly disappointing for me, to be honest. To me, RdA, Penhaligon's Cairo, & even the much cheaper Issey Miyake's L'Eau d'Issey Or Encens provide a better olfactory experience.

On a side note, how 100 people as of writing this review voted MTW doesn't smell like RdA shows how the voting on Fragrantica can be severely wrong!

Unisex cool weather wear.

"Like" & pass.

Turquoise11

How she has grown on me. I’ve had her since 2018 and I have finally come to thoroughly appreciate her. Right off the top I detect a dense dose of Oud (wet medicinal Oud not barnyard) and deep Rose. Initially I am Reminded of Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie in the first few minutes it almost smells identical so what is listed as (floral notes) has got to include BIG rose. It’s amazing how this scent transforms throughout the day. On my skin there is a stark contrast in the dry down. Over time it deepens and becomes spicy, mysterious, alluring, sweet woody beauty. This is definitely a night time scent but could also be a BOSS day scent for the right personality. It’s a love for me:

DanialAhmad95

To my nose opening remind me of mancera black to black or very near to bond no 9 and bond no 9 new york oud..

Over all best and unique after the dry down.

chipon

Xerjoff MTW reminds me of Montale Intense Cafe! To my nose, it's 70% Intense Cafe + 15% Oud/Woody + 15% more Fruity (Rosey syrupy), at least to my nose. But one thing for sure is that MTW has better quality in the sense that it smells less synthetic and much more natural, smoother and well rounded without any rough edge. And yes, MTW is still FBW 100%.

I’m just going to say... anyone that says this is just a basic rose oud combination knows very little about fragrances I have quite a few rose oud combo frags in my collection and this one is very different from the rest this is very fruity off the top in an intoxicating way very bright and fizzy as well almost reminds me of sangria if it were carbonated. As it heads to the mid I get a pipe tobacco too idk if that’s a listed note or not; I imagine the oud and rose will be more prominent in the background. Very good fragrance. Pretty versatile too but more dressed up then not also leans a little feminine just cause of the sweetness, but I will still rock the heck out of this it’s really good and I’m not big into sweet.

Floral and fruity oud. But oud is a bit late bloomer. Opening does not give any oud or woody vibe. It starts so feminine and develops unisex with oud. As a man, sometimes I find it too feminine to wear. Overall, one the best floral oud scent. Oud is not Arabic or harsh or bitter so it is easy to wear for westerners. I think it is a safe choice for woman who look for something oriental. But for a man I am not sure.

About More Than Words, i got my decant already. Im not sure if I could get a FB. The scent really nice one actually. It smell something with the well blended oud and rose but in modern Arab ways. The projection and longevity is super. The oud here is something delicious maybe like vanilla ice cream. This is not typical oud even different from OFG. It remind me about Oud Satin Mood. If you love Oud Satin Mood i guess you might like/love this one too. The reason im still not getting the FB bcz I'm not prefer smelling something like middle east style. Just get the sample first. Maybe u
gonna like it.

I was expecting this charming fruity floral + oud and had such high expectations; whilst the oud and rose combo is there, it is surrounded by sooo much ambergris, it just made me feel nauseous. I have tried to love it, I really have, but in the end I had to let it go..

danny94

A dense, thick oud and rose combo that's covered in lightly spiced, dark, juicy fruits. Whilst overused, this really is a 'beast' of a fragrance, being hugely potent and bursting off the skin. A little goes a long way, and I absolutely love it.

RottigrlNYC

I only bought an 8ml decant from MaxAroma and boy am I glad . As soon as I sprayed some on my hand I got this horrible stink of vomit. The most disgusting vomit I’ve ever smelt. I had to scrub it off immediately before I threw up . How in the world do ppl like this horrid smelling thing.

dianaelz.1

I have smelled this many times in Middle East...ok nothing too special. Xerjoff has so much many better perfumes!
I think this type of Oud and floral thing is so passé. Also, there are many middle eastern houses that sell luxury Oud perfumes...
It's a no from me.

Abdoul92

Great perfume, lasts forever and is really juicy

katrin.niisuke

Oud and rose with almost metallic vibe in the air due to the hidden lily absolute with blast of fruitiness. But mostly clean oud and rose. It's very poetic indeed, I can see why this is dedicated to the writer's club. The scent is like a poem where verse is fairly simple and easy to understand but the weight of those words (notes) has an astonishing meaning and depth. It's absolutely worth FB, just don't blind buy it if you're tiptoeing around the oud scents.

I find it's more oudy in cooler weather, and sweet-fruity once weather outside is above 20celsius. The hotter, the fruttier kind of deal. You basically get two different scents in on bottle.

norra12455

Boring amber and rose combo with loads of ambroxan in the base. Like, it isn't bad. Just, there's better stuff for the money this one costs. Very bland.

zhiang0113

A thundering avalanche of non-edible fruity notes sweeps you off your feet, sending you hurtling towards a potent woody-amber base. After you finally manage to claw yourself out to the surface, batting away grapes, pineapples, and berries throughout your ascent, you see a solitary plant standing where the snowcap used to be. Could that be an agarwood tree?

Gecko Moria

Beautiful rose, oud combination with strong amber note, beast mode performance and definitely a head turner. unfortunately it’s not for me! I found it to be too feminine for my taste. Moreover, it’s not unique enough since almost every brand out there have their own rose/oud fragrance with some twists.

mnitabach

This is very powerful fruity floral balsamic resin! Fruit accord seems well balanced between fresh & dried. There is prominent mintiness in the heart that says myrrh to me. This reminds me (this is obvs much older tho) of two of the new Lubin's Galaor (minty myrrh rose heart) & Gaja Mada (fruits & resins) that I tried recently.

piyux

More Than Words opens with a moderate projection combining equally oud, ambergris, and floral notes. The oud feels dark and mossy; the floral notes come across as a combination of rose and white flowers; the ambergris is a musky accord that feels earthy, green, and slightly mineral and ashy. The fruits come up quickly, they are sweet and combine multiple fruity accords. The fragrance is linear; the opening accords continue into the dry-down. Once Xerjoff More Than Words have reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projection, sweet oud, fruity, and floral fragrance with mild ambergris accords. The fragrance feels classy, earthy, elegant, formal, floral, sweetly fruity, masculine, mature, mild, rich, warm, woody, and pleasant.

More Than Words Xerjoff is an oriental-woody fragrance for men and women, released in 2012, the notes used to make up fragrances are frankincense, labdanum, ambergris, fruity smell, woody notes, oriental notes, oud and floral scent. Deep, hypnotic, profuse, spicy, elegant, lustful, graceful, deceptive, imaginative, intangible, repetitive, romantic, sensual, sexy, where no regrets, no pain, no sorrow, this is a set of words from my lexicon as an attempt to express how The splendor of this fragrance, and even these words next to the fragrance I found lacking the aromatic rhetoric that this mixture holds, it is like an old story I read, and put it on the shelf of memories and when I looked at it after a period of time it flooded me with waves of memories, so this fragrance does to me where sandalwood smells Like the ink in which he wrote the story, you will find it lasts with you for a long time, and I do not know whether the smell can be described in words or that I will reap it and my letters will not help me in showing it, in general and words for him that are necessary. Here, do not be afraid of the oud, as the existence was written for him here, in order to preserve things, it has been refined and tamed, and everything feels balanced and every component does not work alone, but everyone works surprisingly, so you find the fragrance and has imposed itself at all times, whether in Days or months, it is another winter In the tendency, a spring summer scare, works with you in the day in a form of tremendous, but at night it is a servant whenever you summoned you find it like torrent, in parties is required, and in Alkherjat is loved, and among friends is desirable, and the work is described and written, in very short it is a unique perfume that knows how to make him a disciple ...

I was a little apprehensive about trying More Than Words after a very bad experience with the fruity notes in Erba Pura. Seeing the same listing got me nervous.
However, MTW is better than Erba Pura. The opening has the same sickeningly-sweet and synthetic fruity notes, but after a little while, as the fragrance settles, the 'fruits' give way to a more floral accord - like a fruity rose. The oud here is very clean and acts as a good counterweight to the sweetness.
While many will describe this as a rose/oud fragrance, it is by no means typical. The rose blends pretty seamlessly with the candied berries smell of the opening, and the oud lies subtly in the background for me (despite it being the top-voted note).
This is quite unisex to me. It is also a rose & oud fragrance suited more to younger people in my opinion, due to the sweetness and the use of an easy to wear style oud note. The performance is very loud also; a bit over the top for me.
Overall, MTW smells good. The dreaded fruity accord does not ruin this for me as it did with Erba Pura. The slightly oudy base stops this from becoming nauseous. However, it's not a love, as the opening still leans way too synthetic. The sweet rose in the mid also has the same chemical tinge which I just cannot see past.

I like it, but not bottle-worthy.

(dislike/indifferent/like, but not BW/like a lot, potentially BW/love, definitely BW/masterpiece)

Fruit rose oud stunning beautiful mind blowing

Apprentice Istanbul

This is a game changer if you use it at the right stage; ,t might not be the best perfume for a date night but who can say “NO” to the face of a negotiator smelling More Than Words and sitting at the table with a smile full of confidence?

Longevity? It was two years ago, winter of 2018, when I last sprayed it on my neck and it still smells. Well, we all know that I am kidding but I have no doubt that some of the MTW fans got me; if it were a true story, it would be MTV!

Alexinaboxx

My favorite Rose/Oud combo fragrance. Performance beast. A little goes a long way

prozak0001

Super dry and sharp smelling with rose... I hate it, yes I HATE it, but it super beautiful, well made and last forever!

Magic in a bottle,
- I would like to give you very important advice.
- If you have Armania Previa Rose de Arabia ,, you will not need this perfume ,, what I mean is that they are two magic perfumes, but they give the same result ,,
(magic in a bottle)

One leaf of autumn

This is soooooo much like mancera aoud lemon mint. The initial blast till the dry down.

why is incence not listed here..i believe it's better for winter nights.

Had tried it from Dubai Mall outlet.well mannered and friendly staff.

Herod was the fragrance which just taught me to be careful of blind-buys. While I have since grown to enjoy Herod a lot and not regret the purchase, it was not at all as expected and made me decide to go the sample route the next round of purchases.

So I bought a pack of decants with perfumes I was curious about this time around, one of which was Xerjoff - More than words. Boy am I glad I did!

I had sampled Xerjoff - Renaissance before and liked it a lot, so when I saw that More Than Words got glowing reviews almost everywhere - I was intrigued.

I had one spray on my arm and the sickeningly sweet flowery intense cloud that enveloped me had me nauseous within fifteen minutes. The staying-power of the little bastard was to my horror astonishing too. It survived the shower - scrubbing in the sink and it survived.... no, it _thrived_ in the night. The day after I could still smell it very well on my arm, I was trapped.

I love a good gourmand, and can put up with quite a lot of sweetness, but this, while not gourmand, is sickeningly sweet - and on me it also develops some sense that some flowers/fruits has rotted deep in there somewhere too.

How I will sum it up is that it reminds me of perfume in the ways that someone hating perfume would describe one, and makes me think "don't I actually hate perfume? Why am I into this again?" just as a good food-poisoning will put you off of food for a while, no matter how delicious otherwise.

Intrusive, oxygen-depriving and headache-inducing.

It's not a thick smell but it is very rich - it feels like you can't escape until you laser it off. Not at all for me, and I am so happy I didn't blind-buy a bottle.

redskyatnight

More Than Words serves well as a daytime rose-oud. The tart sweetness of the fruit, which reads as apple and clementine to my nose, lightens it up a bit without compromising the depth of the oud and rose. I find it extremely wearable, going through my sample quickly. And I've already been getting compliments, which is odd for an oud scent in my all-American, semi-rural setting. There may be a FB purchase in the future for me since I can't get enough rose-ouds.

Update: So that was the old version, pretty much impossible to find now. I snag any sample of it that I can find. The reformulation is much more fruity-floral, more sour, and the oud is gone. It also has noticeable vanilla, which ruins the dryness that I found in the old version. Bummer. There is an extremely close dupe in Alghabra Poem of Damas.

Gururcuk

Too much oud nothing more long lasting and average sillage. Still smells too Islamic for me.

Mehdi.zidouh

Gorgeous scent.. their is no leather listed in the notes, am I the only one who gets some leather in this scent ?

TonyTheTiger

Comparing the old juice to a reformualation (still in the old style bottle) side by side:

Old: Some beautiful dense florals bloom through a soft sweet rose. A lovely perfume.

New: Gone are the to die for florals. It's now flat and screechy complete with a vanilla/vomit note (think Hershey's).

The quality has gone from high end to celebrity endorsed.
You should be ashamed of yourselves Xerjoff.

Forever Neil

It's good, but not as good as a better oud Oudy Woody EDP which can be found for 15 dollars online. Givenchy Gentleman EDP is a better balsamic fragrance as well (More than Words is balsamic). Yes, it's a great fragrance and will garner compliments, but for the price point I'd go with a more spectacular rose/oud combo like Nouveau Monde by Loius Vuitton. I understand what Xerjoff was getting at by creating a balsamic oud for the warmer months. I love it and others love it. A lot of people in real life really love it, and don't believe it's hype. It's an interesting mix that garners compliments and can be worn in the mildly warmer months. It's a great fragrance from a very good niche house. If your woman doesn't like oud fragrances, she most likely will like this. This is what I believe Xerjoff was getting at. Women that can't stand their husband wearing ouds will allow this to be worn. I'd give it 5 stars because it is very creative.

Edit: This is kind of funny. I went to visit a female friend and she said what smells like bleach. She smelled my arm, and said ugh, that smells exactly like bleach on you. I don't think it's accurate, but it was said.

psebi101

The blend of oud and rose smells very good and the addition of the fruits spins it to another level. But it's not just that, as there are resins, spices and a slight incense note burning under the fruits. A couple of hours in and the oud is amplifying, it smell bitter which is contrasting well with the fruits. It's a bold perfume and the smell is addictive.

Big, heavy-handed, powerful and opulent explosion of fruity, powdery oud. This fragrance is loud and is the kind of composition that could clear a room with probably just a few sprays. So in terms of performance quality you’re getting good value—More Than Words is definitely worth its price in that regard. But I would have to be crazy to throw this on and wear it and think in any way that it goes well with my style and personality. I’d probably feel as comfortable wearing More Than Words as I would donning a dashiki and Native American headdress with a pair of gold-pointed genie shoes and diamond bangals on my arms. Hey, for some people that works...but not me. I can smell more than words and say that it seems like it has pretty rich ingredients but I do not consider it close to wearable. It’s just so opulent and overwhelming. The oud in this is a big, cheesy variety, the kind I encountered in another nuclear bomb, Black Aoud. It also has rubbery qualities and powdery facets as a result of blending with rose. I prefer my oud on the drier, woody side. It’s combined with powerful fruity notes and the fruit is blended into a rose bouquet, and it all smells very “perfumey” to me, and extremely feminine as well. My favorite aspect of MTW, are these “oriental notes” lurking in the base. There’s a nice caramellic amber in there and it lends a gourmand touch to the fragrance. Anyway, there’s no reason for me to bash this scent as the quality seems to be there, but I’m not going to be recommending it to any of my friends as something they should check out. I picture a wealthy, middle-aged woman in Dubai spraying this on before heading out to spend a fortune in one of those luxury malls they have over there like the Mall of the Emirates. If the fragrance has an intended audience, it’s more her than me. I have to opt out of this one. Final rating: 6.5 out of 10 as I find it overwhelmingly opulent, ill-suited for a guy, and possessing a particular variety of oud that I find distasteful. Performance is great. Add a full point or point and a half if you like these kinds of scents.

YouSmells

Middle aged male here.

Just a first impression which I will clean up later:

Another hype-train that no where near lives up to the hype.

An apple-ish opening accord with some floral thrown in drying down to a floral oud.

It is not bad, but some very familiar aromachemicals here, nothing at all groundbreaking or beautiful. It is "nice," but by FAR over-hyped, absolutely does not warrant extra attention. Simply something many people will find appealing but in no way stand-out.

Unisex but def leans fem. I'm four hours in on test strip as of now and get a good, but not noteworthy, clean synthetic oud.

No hate at all, just absolutely no love.

THIS IS MY FIRST XERJOFF EVER. This is supposed to be a spectacular house...???

Oudaddict

I don't really get the Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie comparison. MTW smells like a good fruity handwash. There is a lot going on here, it's fruity, it's woody, it's floral, it's balsamic. I found it to be just okay, certainly not a masterpiece, in my opinion, and certainly not the best oud-rose combo available (even though this is not an oud-rose dominant fragrance because there is so much going on). Xerjoff does not have the list of notes on their website, so we are just speculating regarding some of the notes.

gabri

Very nice and strong ! For me the prominent notes are tobacco and fruit,However I don't see tobacco listed as an ingredient. Thumbs up !!

I need beast scents as my skin just eats everything else so the reviews below made me curious and I wasn't disappointed.

This fragrance is a completely obscene beast. It's disgustingly beautiful and just...wow.

It's actually one of my top three fragrances of all time and the only Xerjoff I've tried that I LOVE. It's a fluke and so different to everything else coming out of this house you can't say "well you liked 40 knots / Nio / Uden / Mefisto etc so you'll bound to like this". You must try it out yourself and it must be on skin.

Scent - Beastly Fruity and Oud and Sweetness and Rose and Floral all together. Deep, hypnotic, heady, a little spicy and very intoxicating without being incensey or smoky (at all). Don't be scared of the oud. It's there but it's just giving everything else a lift and keeping things grounded. It's refined and tamed.

It's just absolutely beautiful and a perfectly blended scent. Sniffing my arm now... I literally can't fault it in anyway. Nothing takes over or takes charge, everything feels in balance and every ingredient is not only working together but doing so amazingly. It's divine.

longevity and Projection - Is brilliant. Spray too much of this and you'll scent a mid sized room with ease, even hours after spraying on skin. Could be a good thing, but it's too classy and rude to get away with this in most places. It's obscene enough already without going overboard! Two sprays max for most people will be enough for an all day scent cloud.

Appeal - It's very flexible, but it's complexity won't fit very young people IMO. Potentially 25+

Occasion - Regal and special occasions would be perfect. But equally you could step it down for office wear and even date nights without issue. Realistically no one on the planet could pull this off as a gym scent or in very very casual situations.

Time of Day / Year - Anytime of the day in Winter, Spring and Autumn / Fall. Summer evenings too, but likely not on a hot summers day.

Masculine or Feminine - Neither - This is a straight down the middle unisex obscenity.

To deal with some of the comments / queries raised below against my own personal experience.

Join the Club Membership - In the newer versions the packaging including the bottle is all different. There is no Join the Club card anymore. You're not really missing out though as it didn't give you anything perk wise.

Packaging - It's just... More obscenity! It's excellent. The best I've come across for a fragrance. A cardboard outer box, a padded leather (perhaps Faux) inner box which opens like a jewellery / watch box. A wrapper to cover the perfume bottle and a insert for everything to sit in. The blue bottle is stunning, just a wonderfully shaped geometric hexagon with the recognisable Xerjoff cap on-top That said, clearly none of it's cheap even at wholesale costs and I think they could have gone for something much simpler, (especially with the box) saved on costs and perhaps shared some of that saving with the consumer.

50ml vs 100ml. I've brought both bottles with the latter being a recent purchase this year from Selfridges in London. Initially I considered it was an old batch / stock room find. But it has 18N as part of the batch code, suggesting to me it's a produce from 2018 (feel free to correct me if Xerjoff identify year of manufacturer in a different way!?). The bottle is quite heavy and unusual, so perhaps they've had sourcing issues?

Reform - I've not personally tried really old batches so can't with good faith compare. However I can't tell any difference between the versions I've tried over the last few years. Slight difference in opening, but mid notes and dry down are essentially the same.

Recommended? Yes Yes YES!

EDIT -

I've taken to spraying my neighbors Christmas and Birthday card with it as she's obsessed with the smell. She puts the card up and then texts me that her whole house smells of this divine perfume. She literally can't get enough. It's a fantastic reminder to me in 2020 that this is a BEAST that needs to be respected.

Guys, this is actually beast mode. I have a lot of the “beast mode” fragrances that are known in this community, but they are not really beast mode on me, probably due to my dry skin.

This is the second fragrance I actually consider long lasting on my skin, the first one being Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. MTW kept its vibrant smell for 3 hours straight, at the same intensity, before I decided to wash my wrist because I tested it in the evening and I felt it was a bit to strong to handle( I get sick pretty easily-especially in the evening-from really strong smells and I didn’t want this to happen with MTW). I washed my wrist twice, with soap, and I can still smell its lovely aroma( I applied only one spray on my wrist and I kept getting wafts for those three hours the fragrance was on).

I usually overspray my fragrances because they fade away pretty quickly on me, but I feel like with this one I wouldn’t have to.

I actually agree with the people that say to apply this fragrance with caution.

PerfumedParrot

I’m about to do something drastic... I’m going to sell my newly bought 100ml unopened bottle of Xerjoff’s ‘More Than Words’ and I’m feeling so guilty.

My story starts on the 6th floor of Harrods. This floor ‘Salon De Parfums’ is dedicated to the best fragrances that life can experience. From the private ranges of Tom Ford, Armani, Chanel and Dior to the worlds most exclusive brands like Roja Dove (all hail), Clive Christian, Henry Jacques, Merchant of Venice, Sospiro, Jean Michel Duriez, Floriku and Xerjoff. Each house is set in a luxury hotel suite style room, set off the main white marble floored corridor, which drips with crystal chandeliers. It was here that I first sprayed Xerjoff's ‘More Than Words’ on my paper testing strip.

Yes it did remind me of Armani Privé’s ‘Rose D’Arabie’ which I own and love, but there was something altogether more complex, concentrated and buzzing with erudite energy about it. I left the strip on my bedside table and that’s when the magic began.

My boyfriend commented on the sweet scent which was wafting from my side of the bed. I explained the legend of More Than Words and highlighted that it was only one sprays worth and he said it was perfect.

That one-spray scent filled the bedroom for the next month. I was determined to get it, as the quality was exceptional with the longest silage I’ve ever known. I researched 100ml bottles but could only find 50ml available to buy in the U.K (there were some 100ml bottles were available to buy from Europe). I even emailed Xerjoff to ask if they still did the 100ml bottles, but heard nothing.

Luckily, a week later, I then went on a day trip to Amsterdam and found a wonderful fragrance shop that sold niche delicacies including Xerjoff. To my surprise (and the shop assistant) there was a 100ml bottle left! He explained that the 100ml wasn’t even available to buy on the website anymore and he confirmed my suspicions that they were phasing it out. So I bought the 100ml for €290, squirted 2 sprays from the tester on my neck, and left happy.

That’s before I ate a space cake and freaked out (a long, 5 hour story... come on, I’m in Amsterdam, allow it!) Unfortunately my drug fuelled bad experience was now linked to the smell of More Than Words. Days after, I can still smell the tester strip in my bedroom and I’m now reminded of my Fear And Loathing in Amsterdam experience. The vanilla note (which I detest but was making exceptions for) was now dominating and seeking to destroy me. At least with Rose D’Arabie, the vanilla note is undetectable and you get a less of a piercing sour fruit note and more of a tart juicy blackberry note.

So that’s why I’m now selling it.

More Than Words summery: The highest quality, longest lasting fragrance in history. Beautifully blended, an oud for oud haters (after the initial blast, it tones down to be an invisible but balancing oud) and perfectly unisex. Not too oud, not too sweet, not to fruity, a majestic and harmonious symphony of a fragrance blend... but the vanilla wants me dead.

Cortina1981

Well,I tested it today.I was very curious about it,watching youtube, reading reviews...too strong at first, too harsh...offensive...very much dislike...nothing good to say, unfortunatelly.I don't like when perfumes are like punch in the face, and it is a harsh punch...it's not soft, gentle,(Chanel Allure homme, to name one)no manners...for me,it's too rude.Very, very dissapointing.

Xerjoff More Than Words (Eski şişe); ilk sıktığım an Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie'ye (RdA) benzeyen öd ve gül karışımı ama RdA'dan biraz daha tatlı ve oturaklı ve hatta daha rafine bir parfüm. İlk sıktığınız andan itibaren buram buram kalite hissiyatı ile yayılımına başlayan More Than Words sonrasında bu öd gül karışımı yapısını terkedip meyveli ferah bir tatlılık ve hafif çiçeksiliğe bürünüyor. Bu parfümü beğenmeyen çıkmaz.

Xerjoff More Than Words (Old bottle); Opening similar to Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie (RdA),a mixture of oud and rose but a slightly sweeter and even more refined perfume than RdA. After than 5 minutes it leaves the oud and rose blend structure and takes on a fruity fresh sweetness and mild floral style. Excellent scent.

grimson

The most beautiful representation of oud-rose with a mouth watering fruity sweetness that distinguishes this from the many other versions this combo. Absolutely stunning and totally unisex.

YYY_Delilah

Recently tried this in Selfridges boutique. It's just absolutely stunning, and it's taken by storm first place in the queue for my next oudy fragrance. Was going to go for something more modest, like a Montale perhaps; but I think that might be 'out the window' now!

It's a grief to me that many of those that were recommended to me when I put out a thread on oudy fragrances (and which recommendations I take very seriously - I have made a copy of the page) are just not available locally; and I do not travel a great deal, so it might be a while before I get to try them.

But, I do seriously think any of them would be hard-pushed to knock this one off its perch! I know it's a rather hard-core one, and I was a tad scornful about another hardish-core one, namely Tom Ford's Oud Wood Intense: but this one is hard-core with such class & finesse, it kind of comes full-circle, in a sense.

BenKenobi

Decided to blind buy this after research here on Fragrantica, it arrived last week and I just had to try it on my skin. My god this juice is outstanding, very forward and fruity settling into warm, fruity, spicy seduction. Longevity is out of this world and far beyond anything I have ever experienced, in fact it still projects on my skin after 10-12hrs, with very noticeable ambergris note remaining after the dissipation of all else. Simply stunning performance and a must have, I liked it so much I called the seller back 3 days later and bought a second just for the hell of it, both bottles are the older style and pre 2013 batch codes. After trying this, my first Xerjoff, I am very interested in sampling other lines, quite simply...... quality gear.

Divine! Absolutely love it. Crazy, sexy, magic, unique.

What I think to smell out of my sample is a perfect combination of oud, incense, a dark rose, dried fruit, a touch o dried tobacco leaves and delicate greens (vetiver, labdanum).
Beautiful and elegant beyond words, indeed. Extremely feminine also.

wxmath

First time wearing...not as high sillage as I would have thought but the makeup of tsis one is very elegant and classy. Complex combo done just right. Opens bright and dries down perfectly with rose coming out very elegantly. Nice...

More Than Words...More like a lifestyle choice! The aroma of MTW is absolutely breathtaking.
Definitely a fine fragrance for writers and poets.

Think outside the box, freeing oneself from boundaries. Be bold, be beautiful, be...More Than Words!

This is a Masterpeace one of the best rose and oud combo i ever smelld and trust me i have smelled a lot oud & rose fragrances by many different exclusive brands. Some compare noir de noir by tom ford to this i can not see that this is nothing like n d n .. This is similar to armani prive rose de arabi but this is much better i still like rose de arabi it is fantastic scent but just not as god as this one..oud and gourman lover: you must try this one out that is my messege to you

WOW!!! What a powerful elixir this is. I fell in love with this scent immediately after smelling it. Oud, rose, sweet vanilla, frankincense, patchouli, everything I want in a perfume. I wasn't aware of how powerful this fragrance was the first time I wore it to work... the entire Salon smelled of this perfume. My Chinese colleagues, who rarely wear perfume, complained that it was too much. 1 spritz is more than enough. One of my faves!!!

I don't know that why to be said this is similar to Noir de Noir from Tom Ford.
Noir de Noir is very better than this cologne.
very sweet and feminine.
Sorry I don't like it.

Ouch!

I was very grateful to receive a sample of this from a fellow frag head, my first ever Xerjoff fragrance. Unfortunately this one isn't me at all however I'll review it below.

Another Oud blast with very sour fruity notes. Whoa...lots of Oud...overtaking everything. Someone just came near me at work and said "It smells like Vicks Vapo Rub over here and how it was making her breathe easier. Haha! Oops. Oud can become so astringent sometimes and the Oud in this..well..IS! It's that wet ripe sharp oud that put me off most fragrances when I smell them. Add to that some really sour/sharp fruit and the opening made me want to run away.

Of course, this has to calm down a bit to really be appreciated.
Soft floral, almost powder like tones start to wash over this when it's dry and a more realistic wood-like smell also. So, it's altogether more dry but soft. The onslaught of oud has taken a back seat..thank goodness.
This creates a fragrance that to my nose is both masculine and feminine at the same time. GREAT!

Then comes the rose! Oh...another Oud/Rose combination. grrr. All too familiar...

I'm turned off again..

I hope the other Xerjoff fragrances are more interesting.

EDIT: I had two more negative comments on this fragrance after writing this review. One person said I smelled like glue, and the other said I smelled like Methylated Spirits. Wow!

Not sure where everyone seems to be getting this "oud bomb" from. I just got a fresh sample to test and for me it comes off very much as a smokey plum and resin with heavy woods but not a hint of animalic or indolic oud. More testing needed.

jeffwithfrags

Nope; it's just another oud tsunami. Huge disappointment!!

relentless and shame because the other ambery/raspberry-like fruity notes would seem to be very good if they had a chance to come above for air!

Opening kills it really; why be this challenging at this crazy price-point??!

My rating: 3/10.

Important edit:

I was surprised in Selfridges; they've moved to 100 ml bottles now that are an elegant purple. Not only is the £265 for it more reasonable than the crazy £200 they charged for the original tiny blue cut crystal in only 50ml, they've appeared to have reformulated it too, and significantly at that.

They've hugely nerfed the oud-bomb; right at the beginning. Now it's much sweeter, still not actually gentle but much more appraochable, intriguing and inviting even.

Now I get candy-sweet raspberries in a cloud of vanillic-amber; very nice.

The amber in particular at 1st grows more dominant and it's very intoxicating, rich and sensual almost. The, after 2 hours, you finally get the whale of oud back from the old original; it just gets stronger too, very powerful by 5 hours and here I'm not impressed at all.

But it's much much better; it almost fools you totally to being a different scent! Well done to them for picking up on customer feedback and not curling up into a corner of stubbornness; still not quite a coveted 8 for me but it's very very close

I nearly passed out on the first whiff. So much oud nearly sucked all the moisture out of the room and me!! You really need to love oud to get on with this beast. I'm neutral on oud. There are fruity floral notes in the background that come much more evident after 30 minutes. Welcome to an oud fruity flower bomb. It is at this stage that I start to warm to this fragrance. I now become much more aware of the oriental notes and frankincense. This lasts for many hours. Great silage which means I would only wear it in a cool to cold environment.

This is magnificent.
If you like strong powerful smells.
I do.
I'm in love with this eu du magic
Longevity and sillage are massive.
Amazing, not cheap, and very unique

I am somewhat 50/50 on this fragrance.

The good: The scent itself is absolutely wonderful...i cant even explain it. Its sort of fruity, woody, rosy....hard to describe. Definitely unique and pleasant. The longevity on this is superb.

The bad: This fragrance can be overpowering. Definitely a "beast". I can see this being offensive to some people. Even today I wore this going out with a friend and he couldnt handle it and asked me to never wear it again. I find that its overpoweing to the person wearing it too. It is so strong that it becomes almost exhausting to breathe. I find myself washing it off half way through the day. ....oh, and this is with only ONE SPRAY. It really is a BEAST to the max. This is why I wear it so rarely.

Scent - oriental woods, berries & oud.

Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.

Projection - I did get noticed, it garners compliments.

Longevity - I get 24hrs consistently.

gtabasso

went on oud, rose and hint of creamy amber; dried down powerful, little sweet, still oud but not sharp or bitter with a little fruity floral

Do I have to say the words?
Do I have to tell the truth?
Do I have to shout it out?
Do I have to say a prayer?
Must I prove to you how good we are together?
Do I have to say the words
He knows very well that the words can't describe his feelings. So I guess he need our perfume (More Than Words) .
Many times the languages with its vocabularies stay capable in stand for our emotions and dreams So our perfume named by its name cause it's simply a pure happens and optimization in a shiny blue bottle with a golden crown. It comes like a young smart prince set on his knees to make his proposal to the sun.
Fruity oud with roses may be there are many others notes but that all what I can feel all the time not in a tough way but elegant and smooth one.
Sillage is awesome and the longevity is unbelievable.
One of my top five. Enjoy

Hmmmmm, I don't get the monster projection as other reviewers have stated (maybe its my skin). It's an OK fragrance, but for the price I expected better. It smells like a cheap attar that I got once but I cant remember the name for the life of me. Dry down reminds me sort of Santal Royal Guerlain but less rich.

lazarini

To me this is amazing.

Power is insane I tell u insane I'm sitting In a coffe bar have with me a jacket I wore to Vienna 3 weeks back yes 3 weeks! And when the sales assistants sprayed this on my wrist it hit my sleeve end a bit of this jacket it still today not just smells of the fragrance but it even projects when I move the hand !?! Incredible lasting power probably strongest I came across and by far superior to anything I have in my collection.

As for the notes h either like or u don't like them some had said this is for ladies only I don't agree it can me very manly if I can pull it off!

Regards S
