Manifesto by Yves Saint Laurent is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Manifesto was launched in 2012. Manifesto was created by Anne Flipo and Loc Dong. Top notes are Black Currant, Bergamot and Green Notes; middle notes are Jasmine Sambac and Lily-of-the-Valley; base notes are Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood and Cedar.

Manifesto is a new women's perfume from Yves Saint Laurent, coming out on the market in late August 2012. The perfume is described as spontaneous, free spirited and courageous; a scent full of passion and emotion.

The face of the perfume is actress Jessica Chastain, who declared: "Yves Saint Laurent is a brand that inspires me deeply. Since its creation, the brand has conveyed strong values that I cherish, such as unwavering commitment, absolute love and feminine audacity. The new fragrance is an emblem of it all."

The composition is developed by Anne Flipo and Loc Dong. It starts off with fresh green wave, bergamot and black currant. The heart includes accords of white flowers such as Sambac jasmine and lily of the valley. The base is woody and slightly oriental and captures notes of cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean.

The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

It’s an absolute stunner of a fragrance. Has something classic but so so beautiful. The person a few reviews below comparing it to Angel MUST have received a fake cause it has absolutely no comparison to angel. And there are a SHITTON of fake manifestos going around (seriously.. so so many).

I thought it was discontinued but i see now they are selling 100ml bottles again. Maybe a reformulation?

maryemily

This is an earthy vanilla to my nose — it opens with some green notes but quickly transitions to a woody scent before finally sweetening into a powdery, biscuit-like vanilla which I find sophisticated and nostalgic. I just can't put a finger on what biscuit it reminds me of. But I've never smelled any perfume like this before so I think it’s quite a unique fragrance.

Msala140

On paper , this was a little flat; I just smell green tea and vanilla. But omg on my skin, I get the black currant with a bright green notes of tea and freshness of the bergamot. The opening is super uplifting . Once it settles I get more of the woody notes along with the elegant sweetness of powdery vanilla and Tonka .

UK-rain

I'm getting some Dolce Vita from Dior when I smell this. Anyone else ?

Rama Rama

Why no one mentioned that this is a lighter version of Angel !!! I sprayed angel on cloth at one side after two hours I sprayed Manifesto
To my nose both are so close almost identical but sure after Angel dry down. Manifesto is so similar to the dry down of Angel when she bacame less tense and calmed down

Peaches&Cream

Long lasting gourmand fragrance. I like the smell of manifesto, from the powdery notes that I get with the combination of jasmine, lily of the valley which gives it a green note smell. The vanilla and woodsy smell that I get whiffs of, this combination blends so nicely. I am glad I had the chance to get my hands on this.

Have a 50ml bottle available- Australia

AnastasiaGostieva

Rich sweet powdery scent with lovely white flowers and (maybe iris) sweetened with some chocolate or maybe sugar coating. With a subtle fruity freshness and tanginess.

VeroMikaela

God, what vanilla!!!! Complex, vanilla pods, with woody and creamy undertones. And in the opening it smells like fresh, then cracked nuts.
I can't get enough of him!

Yseult

Manifesto is a good designer fragrance, although nothing special and it being discontinued is not that terrible either. There many other are scents like this that are more affordable and readily available.

I somewhat like it but it is perhaps a bit too green for my taste. It’s powdery and comforting when it dries down. There is a sexiness to it but I never seem to reach for it as I find the opening too green for my taste. It also smells somewhat cheap, it has the same cheap sweetness as Britney Spears Fantasy. I can’t make my mind up. Something bothers me about it but I want to keep it because I know it’s a good sexy scent. It’s neither overly sweet or cloying like most new designer releases.

mshimoz

OMG this one is amazing! I'm used to feel the sexiness of the black currant note in sexy dark perfumes like oriflame's divine sensual and my red, but this one is very different, they used this note with the green notes and bummm it's sexy and easy to wear ay time anywhere any season! Andddddd it's performance is amazinggggggggggggg and I can feel that it wraps me beautifully when I wear it! I don't know why is this discontinued? it's pretty successful already!

Fragnant

Yes, I love this. A dry, cold vanilla that’s very comforting and wraps you up in a blanket. The sandalwood in it may smell dated but it’s comforting. I can see the resemblance to D&G pour femme intense in the baby soft powdery compact makeup quality.

emilia123

This is very green and fruity on me- not super woody or vanilla-y like I was expecting. Cute, but not as sophisticated as I would’ve liked

The13thHour

Manifesto is my favorite perfume from YSL. I feel like this is the only fragrance they did right. They should had kept it around.

Philp243

Smells kind of horrible when you first spray it but the dry down is delicious!!

UK-rain

A MASTERPIECE !!!
...but why oh why did YSL decide to discontinue this and keep the foul stinking Libre ??? The mind boggles.
There are weird things going on here...
Then there's the weird story from the Selfridges store in the UK that it has returned to their shelves last week, (supposedly there were problems with the bottle manufacturers), yet the spray on my card smelled different to the first release - much more peppery and less sweet/different vanilla ???...reformulated ??? (although the drydown did smell almost identical).
If ever there was a perfume mystery, this one is it !

pinkavocado

It is creamy which is good but too sweet. It is not my cup of tea, I just cant

Sherlock Ness Monster

Perfect vanilla fragrance for me, a grown-ass woman and non-gourmand person. I don't own many vanilla scents, but as soon as I sprayed this one I knew it was a match and smelled like "me". I love wearing this in the winter. Feels so right to be wearing this on a cold, snowy day. I haven't tried it in the summer, but I would imagine it smells great in warmer weather. Why is this discontinued?? Sad face.

vaninavanini

So sad that it's discontinued. Great perfume, ultra feminine and chic. Vanilla that isn't edible or juvenile.

epcana

It's totally legendary!!! It's impossible not to feel feminine when you spray this perfume. It can't be a sporty woman's perfume, it's definitely a chic, "I'm a woman" scent that highlights her femininity.

swedishmilk15

Ooh, I love it. Hard to find, though. To me this smells VERY much like L'instant EDT (Mine is a 2005 bottle, so I can't speak to the "bee bottle" versions.) If you're a hardcore fan of Manifesto, I would recommend to sample some of the L'instant variants from Guerlain, you will likely be satisfied with the similarity.

perfumesniffer

there’s something about this scent that reminds me of Black women (in the US). maybe I’ve come across lots of Black women wearing this or maybe it’s the kind of creamy lotion-y vanilla that I associate with them? this is a compliment because I LOVE this fragrance and am currently trying to decide if I need to seek out an overpriced bottle since it’s discontinued. for me it’s a calming, feminine and slightly spicy green musky-vanilla (not gourmand at all). I prefer the L’Elixir but I also love the original which is easier to find right now. Manifesto is delightful and I’m very sad it’s gone.

DTreadaway

Classy, elegant, unique fragrance. Beautifully feminine. A soft floral, that is well balanced with lovely vanilla and tonka bean on the drive down. This perfume has a lot of character. It’s a love for me.

medusa666

Reminds of Guerlain's L'Instant Magic. Beautiful perfume.

Gemsense

This smells like al rehabs Golden, just a tad lighter. I do like it and I like Golden too. That barbershop smell does well with my chemistry. Fresh, sweet, and clean. This has pear in it that does make it lean more feminine than Golden. At least that's what I'm smelling, I see it's not a listed note but I do smell pear.

LizbethScott

Manifesto captured that perfect woody/vanilla combination. I would call this a spicy vanilla frag. It's easily a grown woman's perfume

Hypnotic Flower

I have a 2013 bottle, when I first got it I didn't like it AT ALL, the initial spray was horrific. HOWEVER the vanilla aged beautifully and I enjoy it more than ever, it's something I rarely wear because I have to be in the right mood for it, lasts very very well tho and makes me feel powerful and confident!

CelinaPerfume

Apple-y with a vanilla base, sometimes the black currant comes through.

eylulcnar

When first sprayed, it smelled like a sun cream, which I hated. When I first smelled this fragrance, it was hate at first side. There was a note that annoyed my smell sensors. After waiting for an hour or two, the fragrance turned into a warm, woody vanilla tone which I fell in love with. It is almost addicting, it is no where to be fresh yet the intensity isn't something that is overwhelming. I plan on using this as my signature perfume in the future. Regarding notes, I don't smell the bergamot at all (to my relief, I am not fond of bergamot as a note). The vanilla scent is unordinary which is why I love this perfume so much. It is a type of vanilla that is woody-like instead of being sweet. Overall, very enjoyable perfume!

siynaloa

Beautiful 💟
It’s a vanilla bomb, well blended at first you smell the vanilla a green one, then the Jasmine i don’t really smell the lily. Cedar or black currant it so well blended
After 1 - 2 hours it’s turn into a sweet soft some powdery vanilla juste beautiful ✨
The tonka / sandalweood is noticeable on dry down it remind me (Mademoiselle Rochas Couture) 🔥

This is a masterpiece perfume. Longevity is a beast on cloth it’s stay for weeks on skin a day 10h +

nina.ry

This smells like a mature, grown-up version of Fantasy Britney Spears and an elegant vanilla cake. It smells sexy and comforting, and the powdery notes don't make the perfume loud. This lasts long on the skin, even during summer, but this can last up to a week when sprayed on clothing.

Marlene12

if anyone is interested i have a parcial bottle up for sale on mercari under user name Marly :)

Ferra_Verto

An absolute delight; a cakey vanilla & tonka gourmand preceded by a bright and lightly juicy black currant.
Very creamy and inviting, reminds me a bit of a less spicy Dior Addict, especially on the drydown.
Lasts for around 10 hrs on my skin, eternity on clothing. Best suited for cooler/cold weather.
A shame it's been discontinued, this should have been added to YSL's permanent collection.

sopelka

So addictive! I agree that it has similar qualities to Dior Addict, although not the same scent. There is something about non-gourmand vanilla frags that I find irresistible. Well done, YSL, now bring it back!

josephineds

I just dislike it cause there's this one sickening note in it and I don't know what it is but it makes me nauseous, it's really good performance wise but Idk what turns me off on this cause everything else about it smells good, think it's the patchouli but not sure

yourbestie

it smells like vanilla and money ❤️

Charlotte_Grace_29

This is... fine? I am normally a big YSL fan, but their 2010's offerings of fruity/sweet gourmands really isn't doing it for me. I think it must be the omnipresence of black currant in *everything* that they make. (Black currant may just be my most hated note - I can't handle the syrupy sweetness). While this smells like a good-quality fragrance, I can't really say that I like it all that much.

Anywho, this is a very safe, sweet, ambery-vanilla. I don't think it's particularly groundbreaking or interesting, but it will definitely appeal to those who want a sweet, fruity, amber-vanilla scent. While I am rather non-plussed with the scent itself, the bottle is fantastic. Beautiful, heavy gold cap and the bottle is made of thick, cut glass. Really great heft and very easy to hold due to the shape. Packaging is 10/10, the fragrance itself I would rank as a 5/10.

Julia19

This Perfume is MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, I can smell Green, vanilla mature scent, The only little downside is that the projection kinda fades after a couple of hours but Longevity is good, I can smell it really well when I'm moving around throughout the day for more than 8 hours. It lasts really well on both my skin and clothes. And above all, it does make me happy. I'm so sad that it's discontinued.

SophieGlnd

I first bought this perfume not long after it was released and I quickly fell in love with this soft woody vanilla, I find the green and powdery notes make it more interesting and mature than a more simple vanilla. It became a favourite and one of the few (if not the only?) perfume I bought several times.

I remember it being quite long lasting, and projecting, I got compliments from people in bars, outside etc. I finished my last bottle somewhere between 2017/2018 and moved on. I wanted to repurchase it around 2020 but it was already hard to find and much pricier than before. There were rumors that it was being discontinuated, I was a bit sad but not ready to pay so much money for it.

Recently I saw it was back again online, in cosmetic stores websites. Prices were decent, I also got a discount on one website where I usually buy my perfumes so bought a new bottle of Manifesto. I received it a couple days ago, the batch code indicates it was produced in May 2022, from the bottle it smelled exactly the same and I was excited to try it on my skin. On my skin though, it seemed the top notes are fruitier than in my memory and the scent is weaker, could it have been reformulated or is my memory playing tricks on me?

I will let it sit for a few months and revisit it later, I noticed some scents, especially vanilla, seems stronger with time. I hope it will be the case for Manifesto, anyway I am happy to be in possession of a new bottle, I thought I would never wear it again.

Чувствен и завладяващ 💖

sibaraa

A classic fresh and sweet vanilla, has that old fashioned perfume vibe, but it's nice.

l_02mx

A very authentic type of vanilla throughout wearing (the tonka bean is subtle) with the gorgeous cedar and sandalwood in the background, I don’t get much of the fruity notes, surprisingly the bergamot in this is subtle, but the green notes from the white florals keep this from being overbearing. This is very well blended and is a very sexy, warm, and feminine scent. It’s intimate yet still projects well, I’ve only worn this in a warm day and it surprisingly didn’t become cloying but I know this will most likely shine in the winter. I would consider this both a day and night scent. Yes I see the similarly between this and DIOR addict, they could probably be sisters but addict is stronger and heavier than this, this lacks the intense white florals that addict has. I love this, really considering buying another 90ml bottle. Gorgeous juice! Such a shame it’s been discontinued. This has quickly became one of my favourites.

TheFancyNancy

Such an easy reach if you like spicy vanilla scents. To me it smells like a more refined, grown up and less sweet version of Fantasy by Britney Spears. This one also layers really well with Crystal Noir EDT.

Laurus

The moment I sprayed this on I knew I had smelled this before and most likely hated it. I still do hate it. It is spicy warm sweet fragrance without any fresh notes that I can detect. It is not for me. Supposed to contain green notes?? Not on me.

Aiga1

Soft, beautiful vanilla scent, just wished it was stronger!

Marialle

I blind bought this. For me the opening is very similar to Pink Sugar, but on skin it's different. On skin Manifesto is less sweet and I can smell the white florals. Not a bad blind buy, but quite boring scent.

likesleet

fresh fruity with green & white florals

GUADELUPA

It's very pleasant, tasty, gourmet scent! I can smell even almonds, although they are not listed here. Maybe it's the tonka bean and vanilla smell together in such a way. Also, I can smell green notes very well supplemented with soft nuts and berries. Perfection! Longevity and sillage are almost all day long. It reminds me of new Libre Intense, or rather, Libre Intense is similar to Manifesto. After all, new fragrances are well-forgotten old fragrances. Though, Manifesto is not forgotten, of course. It is already a legendary and classic fragrance!

malones

The green notes (or bergamot?) in the beginning really threw me off. I didn't hate this scent, but it was not for me. The sharpness of the green notes goes away with time, but until then it was mostly unpleasant.

duaa abed

nice but a bit boring i did bought le Parfum long ago its the best flanker for me but still too feminine for my liking

pursueliving

Oh my, this perfume truly gets better as time goes by. I purchased some about year ago and wasn't completely sold on it, had to buy it blind because of COVID. As time went on and the perfume macerated, it began to last longer and smell warmer. It sprays on a little sharp at first and over time settles into a fragrant vanilla-y warm & comforting scent. It's soft and feminine, pretty, suited to any time of year. A very nice fragrance good for grab and go. Kind of vibes with Angelique Noire by Guerlain and Orchidee Vanille by Van Cleef & Arpel. Lasting power is good and it's priced well too. A solid perfume all around. 9/10

Tinabill

Feeble green vanilla.
A creamy, elegant, vanilla-tonka with a mild green opening. A very likable everyday scent but very fleeting and a skin scent on me. I like it very much but voted ok because of the performance.
For a strong green vanilla I prefer Dior Addict or even Mugler Aura. But that doesn’t diminish the fact that it is a beautiful well made vanilla scent.

Ornamental_Nose

@theperfumemaniac I completely agree! I just had that thought and came here to see if it was listed as a fragrance similarity.

Alchemie

@theperfumemaniac Yes! So true! It was my first thought when I got the bottle

theperfumemaniac

Smelled it again years after the release and still think the same. This is Fantasy by Britney Spears but more powder.

Dianahc

Omg, i bought a cheapie at Marshall’s years ago by indulgent moments named Black Currant and Golden Amber. I fell in love with it but didn’t last as long. Now I finally got my hands on Manifesto and it smells just like it but obviously high end and lasts longer! I’m obsessed.

Ninalovesclassy

Both the normal Manifesto and the Elixir one smell way too powdery on the dry down, its unpleasent and makes me almost gag. Too bad, because it starts very sexy and nice.

Rozalina

Manifesto brings to mind the most decadent vanilla bean custard topped with black currants. It's perfect- comforting but not boring, sexy but not loud, sweet but not cloying. It's a classy women's scent, it smells expensive, and is fitting for all ages. Manifesto is by no means a copy of Dior Addict, but there is a definite similarity due to the creamy vanilla and jasmine, an addictive quality that has you wanting to constantly stick your nose into the crook of your elbow.

Why in the WORLD would YSL discontinue this perfect fragrance??!!!

I recommend spraying your clothes, the scent bubble wafting from fabric is even more stunning. Longevity is fabulous, it lasts on my skin and clothes overnight. Need!

Swedelish

There's something so addictive about Manifesto, I can't quite put my finger on it. It's like the vanilla is woven into every fiber of the scent, not just vanilla as a base note. The blackcurrant, green notes, florals & woody notes have been "vanilla-fied," for lack of a better term. I love it for this, and it's also the reason I disliked it when it first came out. It was more than I had bargained for as a younger me looking for gourmand vanilla. Now, it's exactly the kind of fragrance I adore so much and I just knew I had to bring it back to revisit.

Yes there's vanilla and noticeabley so, but it's constructed in such a way that could take some getting used to if you're not expecting equal parts floral, woody & green to vanilla. Some people might be turned off by it initially, but give it time. It's likely you will come around to it eventually.

The bottle represents the scent well. Modern, timeless, elegant, stylish, feminine. It smells like something a modern-day princess would wear. The way it projects and the cloud it creates is like a twirling petticoat on a ballroom floor.

I have a newer bottle and it is absolutely perfect. Performance is just how I like - moderate & lasting. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Love love love love. ♥️

SweetSensation92

Ohh It's one of my favorite perfumes. I have nice memories with this one... It's smooth, floral, sweet, elegant, sexy...
I've heard it's been discontinued so get your hands on it if you like it because the price is not so bad yet.
The bottle is precious too.

VeronicaMa

This was hyped so much on YouTube I had to try it. It's gorgeous. It was love at first sniff to me. I love the green notes w/ vanilla in this. This is alluring and seductive. I haven't worn it all day yet, so I can't speak on longevity. This is a love.

Duft Liebe

So, because everybody says, it´s been discontinued, today I´ve finally bought a bottle (90ml for EUR 90,-). It is true, it has been disappearing from the shelves (at least in Germany).
What a shame - such a gorgeous scent! But I see why. It is not the kind of ladylike alluring scent, you would come up with today. I guess, you need to be into those lovely ladyperfumes of the 80' and own a little bit of this `grandezza`, to really identify with Manifesto.
I need to confess: YSL has always been my very favourite fragrance house. I´ve never had any inhibition to wear well oversprayed my Opium or Champagne or Paris or Cinema or Rive Gauche in any inappropiate occasion.
I just needed to complete this collection of dramatic and unique fragrances today.
Good decision.

Natalie Mariam

Green notes plus musk. Alluring and intoxicating.

juliannmay

This is the perfect vanilla without being TOO sweet. At first spray, the green notes are quite potent but quickly fades away into a beautiful powdery, fresh vanilla. This is mostly a skin scent type of fragrance. Sillage and performance, are not the best. Since this is discontinued its only worth getting if you can get it at a good price. 7.5/10 for me.

hola gigi

Bergamot & Green notes warm up into a vague, barely there black currant. It sits very close to the skin & I have to make too much of an effort to smell anything.

Ismellroyal

It's a vanilla, edible fragrance with weak lasting power

Nourhan

Smells so creamy and delicious that I’d eat it 😍

Inkspilled

I initially returned this only to miss it again and repurchase it. So addicting. Give it time - it will grow on you! And what's even better, the second bottle was a bit older so the vanilla aged a bit, making the scent sweeter and smoother rather than the crispy and dry green vanilla. Pure velvet!

Controlledbyscent31

@nixi that's exactly my thoughts too I also love my vanilla heavy gourmand scents but this is like my vanilla when I wanna smell clean and not edible.
D&g pour femme intense is very similar to my nose but cuts out the green notes.
This is one of my All year round clean vanillas, I get why some may think this was masculine it reminds me a bit of libre too not as in a dupe smell but the cleaner more serious vanilla fragrance concept.

soumayaela

First time i sprayed Manifesto after a blind buy, i thought it was a fake perfume or it went wrong, because i smelled something weird and strong, but seeing the notes, it's the GREEN NOTE!! Now i know why some youtubers described Manifesto as a green vanilla perfume, yes it's very green, i'm only used to sweet and gourmand vanilla
I tried Manifesto on both clothes and skin, it smells better on my skin
It's very unique, a bit masculine, it grows more and more on me

WifeyPink

I was so excited to finally get my hands on this fragrance, it's been sooo hyped up in the fragrance world of YouTube. Wow, so disappointing. First spray I'm getting lemon & a touch of baby powder maybe. I'll give it a couple tries but so far I'm super disappointed. Makes me think the L'eclate version might not be worth buying either even though the notes look right up my alley. *update* Gave it to my mom & it actually works better with her but still isn't a scent I'm fond of 🙃

itscaroline

This one is tropical to me. Like a Pineapple Mai Thai on the beach

fmangion

I just got a 50ml bottle of this, wanted to see what all the hype was about if I'm being honest. Wearing it first time today, to my nose it's quite green not sure I get vanilla. I do get the warm hugable vibes however. I'm definitely not used to green scents , I don't hate it but I don't love it. Will see how it wears throughout the day.

EDIT: So it has officially been on my skin for about 6 hours. I would say I stopped being able to smell it on myself around the 4 hour mark. Unless I sniff my wrist I don't smell anything and its very faint. Was expecting a lot more from this. Plus side , I am smelling traces of vanilla now but for a good 3 hours I only got the green notes. Will have to test a bit more and figure out how I really feel about this. So far it's a meh.

04/01/2022: Okay so this started to really grow on me the more I wore it. I absolutely love it. Although I still get mostly green notes, this is a very comforting scent, I love wearing it to work or even at home after a shower at night.

Daiiiiiisy

I have fallen irrevocably in Love with this beautiful, warm, grown up, soft, ultra feminine, vanilla cloud of a fragrance.

So much so, that I ordered a full sized bottle & a gift set all within 3 days of getting my travel spray

This perfume is perfection. YSL’s very best.

fumongous

Buyer beware! Fakes are being sold online at a low price so be cautious.

melekd200

I love this fragrance. At the first spray I get a source smell because of bergamot. However, in a few seconds, It disappears. Afterthat, I get sweet jasmin with sandalwood and I feel sweet smoothness due to tonka bean and vanilla combination. I think it's very sensual and sexy smell.

This fits at the age of 25 and over. It's quite feminen and strong.
Longevity and sillage are intense. :)

Dip note: It is one of my signature scents. :)

1010 <3

Nixi199623

One of my favourite fragrances. I love vanilla, I love gourmand, I love creamy fragrances. For me, this is one of them. A sweet vanilla delight with a splash of the freshness of lemon. I love it.

SummerRose

On my skin, I get a creamy woody vanilla with light green notes. Though that may not sound very feminine, on me It's quite feminine, classy and well blended. This was a blind buy but when I was thinking of the notes, I thought it would be a green vanilla like Mugler Aura (which I love) but this is different, lighter, airy but still interesting. When I first sprayed , the openning reminded me of Lacoste Pour Femme Timeless but it soon changed and developed. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and the performance is outstanding. Is it a safe blind buy? Perhaps not...may be best to test first.

clo2005

surprisingly fresh to me under my nose and a bit manly?? which was weird because i tend to like quite unisex perfumes even those that are more male but this one which is for womens was quite aromatic in a sauvage way to me

Mistdragon01

This smells exactly like Elemis "Milk Bath" - I have been looking for a version of this scent for years!

octobersun

This is "I like to be hugged by someone who wears this" kind of scent, that's the feeling it gives to me.

Frontandscenter

In the opening I get almond(?) and a hint of coconut(?), and green notes. Not my vibe normally, but this is intoxicating. I love it and I can’t stop smelling myself.
It dries down to a gorgeous green almond. Great longevity.
A very pleasant surprise and a successful blindbuy.

Ella7712

Nope, not for me. VERY green and not much else. I can't smell any vanilla or flowers, just some blackcurrant in the opening and then a whole lot of green notes that lasts and lasts all the way to the end.
Love the bottle, so bummed that I don't like the juice inside.

Blacktundras

I guess I've been asleep for the last few years, because I've seen this fragrance everywhere and just passed on it, because in my warped mind, I always thought, "oh that fragrance is old, so I probably wouldn't like it". My way of thinking about fragrances has changed so much lately and I'm starting to see that older designer fragrances are real hidden gems. This creamy, vanilla-marshmallowy frag is beautiful and I love it. It's just fabulous for a daytime, sweet fragrance that's not too load or over the top. I like wearing this one in the daytime then Love Don't Be Shy if I want to go out at night. Awesome day-night pair!

Tishreen_iris

for my DNA, this perfume is vanilla, wood, milk, marshmallow softness sweet but n't in a sugary way.
It is a very elegant perfume that is useful for evenings and cold winter nights.
It just like ahug, actually soft hug

Arctic Mom

This reminds me of cream soda as a perfume! Very interesting and unique scent. It has an effervescent, sparkling vanilla top note, (probably the greenness and Bergamot that makes it appear sparkling on my skin). I also get a little woods, black currant, and a some jasmine. It's not really much of a traditional vanilla scent on me.

Kroko

I expected sweeter vanilla scent. This has very interesting beginning, maybe woody I would say. It is very elegant, maybe even serious. The dry down also isnt very vanilish.

stephdray

I really liked this and it has excellent longevity. It was very cozy and comforting, sharing some vanilla DNA with Libre.

Ok so at first I didn't like this fragrance at ALL. It was super strong upon first spritz to where the woods/green notes overtook any sweetness/fruitiness within it. But once it dried down... I started to enjoy it more and more! Longevity is decent, and it's definitely more mature/business-like vibes. I wouldn't necessarily buy it in a full sized bottle unless I got it for a good deal since Libre is my go-to work perfume now.

matth.veronica

I love all the perfumes we have with green notes and this one is one of my favorites.

Catsylvania

Definitely nothing out of the ordinary but Manifesto still managed to push aside my other go-to woody vanillas.

The green notes put an interesting, sort of refreshing twist to the creamy vanilla/tonka texture. I really can't tell that I'm detecting much jasmine here but an initial trail of blackcurrant is definitely there. The base and drydown is woody, powdery and quite balmy. Along with Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme, Chanel's Allure, and YSL's Cinema, Manifesto is sitting on the shelf where I put all my cozy comforting scents.

Silage and longevity are amazing. The overall quality of this scent is great. I was stoked to find Manifesto, now discontinued, on sale at a local store for a laughable price. I got so so much bang for my buck.

Having only owned Manifesto for just a few months, I've left a pretty noticeable dent in my bottle.

Di_berry

This is not an extraordinary perfume, but it's extremely correct, I mean is not groundbreaking but it smells beautiful.
I had two bottles of this one, and I remember that very well crafted vanilla scent, a mature one, like a Fantasy by Britney that aged very well.
I got a soft powdery note, and some berries undertone.
All in all, perfect for cold days, long lasting and lingers beautifully.
I love it, and I bought Women's Secret (Eau my Secret) which is really really very similar.

kkaattjjeess

I like the scent BUT it is sooo fleeting on me, from the moment I apply it, I can barely smell it! Never really had this with anything since Prada Candy! Annoying as the scent itself is good. I agree it is similar to Fantasy (I knew straight away it reminded me of something, but didn't realise it's Fantasy until I read it in a comment here).

Will do a proper review once I test it some more.

Edit: Not much else to say, I swapped this for something more enjoyable.

Malita6623

First impression: I get coffee and vainilla and currant, in that order.
Is elegant, romantic. Nor for outdoors or office, not because is overpowering, but because seems to me like a fragance for a special ocassion, a date or a celebration. Weak sillage... I expected more body from this fragance.

Belle_Boutique_

This is rather perplexing to my nose. At first spray, a gradual green, floral scent smacks on you and gradually grows into an almost woody, mossy smell. After approximately 10-15 minutes, the heavy green diminishes into a subtle, yet evident vanilla-lactonic note. It's an exceptional feminine scent that leans onto a more elegant smell. It's comforting, like bubble tea.

Tropicat28

I love the dry down on this, it smells like a grown and sexy Britney Spears Fantasy. I can’t get past the opening, not for the green notes but for the black currant. It gives me Hypnotic Poison Edt vibes because of the vanilla, Lily of the Valley combo. Too bad it just didn’t work for me. The dry down is lovely.

pac1990

This is so interesting. I've never smelt anything like this before. I mildly remember Lei as I was a child when my mother had it and yes, this is veeeery similar. Don't get the similarities w/ Britney Spears Fantasy though. This is a cold, very green vanilla. First spray starts with a VERY green, plantsy vibe, like when you cut aloe. Then about 10-15 minutes later this suddenly transforms into a pure vanilla, beautiful soft, delicate vanilla, vanilla latte vibe (chai?). Sort of the scent you get when you put lotion on. Sweet but not gourmand. This is definitely not a safe blind buy, the mix of green/vanilla (like a vanilla white tea) can make you uncomfortable...better try this before committing to it. It's a complex perfume. Longevity is sort of good (4H+), projection is soft. It's elegant, sort of like a warm hug from mom when she just picked you up at school in a sunny day.

viewdemonde

Quite similar to Rochas’ “Muse de Rochas” which is pretty and sedate - in a good way. YSL’s “Manifesto” is much more flamboyant

So 🤔 “Muse de Rochas” for day and YSL’s “Manifesto” for clubbing/partying!

tinadee

On my skin, Manifesto is initially very heavy and smells a bit outdated. It is pure vanilla and baby powder, nothing more. HOWEVER, after a couple of hours, it turns into a lovely, soft feminine vanilla scent that smells more complex than the initial blast. It is the dry down that I like, and it's worth the wait!

foreverine

Oh my... What can I say about this. I cannot get past the fact of how much the green notes and vanilla scent bother me. I quite like the notes on their own, but together, it is just very peculiar. Maybe my nose needs to get used to this particular combination which I consider a juxtapose. Not a fan for now. But I can imagine that I am going to miss it somehow in the future.

FollowTheNose

Smells very mature, like something your aunt would wear. Not unpleasant, just really not my vibe.

Jespan81

I had really wanted to love this but I can barely smell it on my skin 😔 I get a hint of the green vanilla, then it fades away completely. Maybe I got it from a bad batch.

Murmur123123

I felt intrigued to try Manifesto after hearing many positive reviews of it on YouTube, and that I love vanilla perfumes generally. However I have mixed feelings about it. It opens quite fresh and green which is interesting for a vanilla perfume, but to me it is also very creamy and make-up powdery (maybe the lily?), so it has quite a strong vintage vibe to me. It is not sweet, but its creamy powderiness does not seem to go very well with the initial green freshness and the woody dry down.

EDIT: The creamy powderiness of this perfume strangely grew on me so much the more I wore it, the more I like it --- I even went to pick up a back-up bottle LOL..

Hum_C

Manifesto is one of my favorite vanilla perfumes. Initially, I get the green and citrus notes on my skin. Within half an hour, the green/citrus vibe fades away and I'm left with the creamy vanilla with sandalwood and tonka bean. It lasts on my skin about 6 to 7 hrs with strong projection in the first few hours. And the bottle looks kinda vintage and gorgeous! It's a beautiful fragrance for the colder days.

Overall, absolutely love it 😘

MissAleksandra

It’s a very nice and warm fragrance. It’s not a typical vanilla, woody fragrance, I get quite a lot of green freshness from it, so it’s not super sweet and doesn’t make me feel nauseous, like some of the generic vanilla fragrances. However, the dry down is quite vintage-style and it reminds me of perfumes from years ago. It’s a vintage take on femininity, so to me, a 26 year old young woman, it’s not something I will repurchase any time soon.

jacoiyathomas

I feel like I’m the only person this perfume doesn’t last on, like I can’t smell it after an hour 😭

mister_chaz

A not too sweet woody vanilla, with a trace of greenness in the opening, and pleasant cozy sandalwood, albeit synthetic, in the dry down. Very feminine. I was not initially very impressed by Manifesto, but after several full wears, it really grew on me. Perhaps, a bit too cloying for summertime, it's a perfect go-to daily vanilla fragrance in colder weather.

Manya3

Not my cup of tea. Got an almost full bottle from a friend and it's one of those perfumes that I thought I'd love just by looking at the notes...But no, we don't get along.
It seems very off-balance and kinda bipolar. To me, the opening and the base clash in an annoying way. I love the creamy vanilla dry down but getting there makes me frustrated!!

violetx28

Blind bought this expecting a sweeter vanilla prominent scent, it’s not. It’s a pretty green scent, my nose can’t really pick up the vanilla note sadly.... it smells really familiar to something I’ve already smelled before, I just can’t put my finger on. Kinda smells like soap/body wash, I expected more from this :(

selling a full 50ml if anyone’s interested!!

mellymel10

My Love. The best non-sweet vanilla/tonka scent I ever smelled. So lady like. Ultra comforting depression buster. A mothers scent. The green top notes make it so unique. Absolutely non-offensive. What else can I say? Come give me a hug.

Chr_23

Sharp, green opening paired with a classic vanilla sweetness and some woody notes. I found that the sour notes are too strong for me although I usually like them. The dry down was a lot more pleasant but not enough for me to keep the bottle. I liked the idea of Manifesto but the execution wasn't for me. I believe this is comparable to Armani Si Fiori which I find more balanced and friendly overall.

Romellah

To my nose smell like a powdery version of BS fantasy perfume. I did test them side by side.

xodvm

I experienced Manifesto years ago when it first came out. I never, ever forgot how it smelled. I was younger at the time, a student and working part time so I couldn't spend the money on this fragrance. I finally managed to get my hands on it and I am just as in love with it as the first time I had experienced it.
Manifesto is a sharp, strong and regal oriental vanilla gourmand with a tinge of spice and zest. The first spritz can be overwhelming as it envelopes you in it's cloud of jasmine, bergamot and musk. As Manifesto develops and dries down, it turns into this creamy, feminine vanilla that is sophisticated and slightly mature. I have always loved oriental fragrances and Manifesto is a beautiful embodiment of the kind. The black currant and green notes dissipate but linger in the background ever so slightly. Creamy tonka bean is quite dominant in the background. As the dry down develops I get a slight coconut vibe. The jasmine can come off a bit soapy but it works in keeping a steady freshness.

Words cannot describe how much I love Manifesto. I love to wear it to bed, it feels like a soft and cuddly blanket. It makes you feel extremely feminine and unique. Although it is definitely not a safe blind buy, if you like the individual notes you will not be disappointed with Manifesto.

kandykiller

Okay i blind bought, being a perfume addict, ladies& gents...you know what i mean,so i thought maybe the notes& designer..i couldnt go wrong? To my full suprise this smells like green leaves& vines, champagne& baby powder mixed into a bottle shaker...im just so sorry, its not for me& we are all very very different trust me!!!! I will say though that it has a smooth calm relaxing herbal vibe somewhat to it& lasts okay. Not my STYLE! I do love Yves Saint Laurent....just not this one NOPE!

Anastasia Ag

Absolutely gorgeous perfume. The perfect balance between fresh and sweet. It has been my signature scent since 7 years now and it doesn’t fail to make me feel amazing every time I wear it. It was my signature scent back when my collection was as big as 3 perfumes and is still my signature scent now that my collection has grew to 30 perfumes.

I can smell the green notes, the jasmine and the vanilla. Everything in perfect balance! Longevity is around 6-7h on me and sillage is moderate-strong. People are able to smell me and i’ve received compliments while wearing this.

soumayaela

This is a big love for me !!

I bought it years ago when i was in my 20s and didn't like it at all, found out it was too heavy and too smoky for my taste. But now that i'm in my 30s, i absolutely adore it

When i spray it, i smell something weird and off, now that i saw the notes, it's the green note! Now i get it! Luckily it diappears quickly and the lovely perfume shines 😍 smoky woody vanilla with flowers, i'm sure i'm smelling rose but i don't see it listed in the notes 🤔

Manifesto is a classy chic sophisticated perfume, also very feminine, when i dress nicely and want to make a good impression at work, this is the perfume i wear (this or Dior Addict)

Anyway, it will always be in my collection

Not for everyone, it's kind of heavy and not for all seasons, for cold days only

maddy.cucu

Dried to a soft nutty vanilla, but synthetic. Something’s off. Nice and cozy though

Tsiolkovski

Soft and warm, almost like a hug.

At first spray, it smells mainly like vanilla and black currant. The bergamot and green notes are there, but very subdued.

Within 20-30 minutes, all traces of bergamot and green notes disappear. At this stage the scent is instead heavily dominated by vanilla and tonka bean. This is nicely complimented by a backdrop of black currant. The jasmine just barely noticeable, and the lily of the valley is nowhere to be found.

As the hours pass, this fades more and more into a pure vanilla-tonka bean mix. The sandal wood appears in the background to warm it up after several hours, but it stays subtle.

This can feel like a very simplistic and linear perfume, since it smells mostly like vanilla and tonka bean throughout the whole wear. However, there is some complexity hidden in the background. To be honest though, I really don’t mind the linearity of it. It is a simple vanilla done very well.

It starts or with a strong projection, that fades slowly. Total wear time is also very long, I can still sense the vanilla and tonka bean clearly after 12 hours. Generally it performs better on me when I use it sparingly.

It is advertised as “[...] spontaneous, free spirited and courageous; a scent full of passion and emotion.”. I honestly don’t get that description. In my eyes, it is a very calming and soft vanilla. Almost like a hug or soft cashmere sweater in a bottle.

In general I’m a fan of this type of scents. I don’t think it would be hard to find both people who find it boring, and headache-inducing. This is probably not a crowd pleaser.

Sadly, it’s no longer sold where I live. I don’t think it is completely discontinued yet though, as it is still available on YSL’s website.

Belovedme

Another favorite of mine. Love every single drop of it. I can't imagine what happens if it suddenly discontinues.. I hope they won't do this crime. Beautifully done scent, long lasting, smells expensive and elegant. Nothing harsh or cloying in this gorgeous bottle. Absolutely perfection. Love it

charmeliastorm

I am still getting to know this fragrance and it’s nuances but right off the bat, this is the first fragrance I’ve ever smelled that comes close to Armani Lei (my very first love). Lei is around now but it was hard to find for years until recently (briefly discontinued I think?). Manifesto is now being discontinued so that’s that. But if you love this, you will probably love Lei (and vice versa).

scentedlove

There’s a sharp, fresh element to this that nags me as I wear it. The underlying scent is pleasant in a generic way. One reviewer I love said it reminds her of Addict, which I don’t see at all. Addict is so much more distinctive. More creamy, more spicy, and infinitely more intriguing than this. We shall see how the dry down goes, but I don’t think this one is for me.

zaraburtonshaw

EDIT: Came back here to say after re-trying this twice that it really grew on me and is actually lovely! It gives me dior addict vibes minus the cinnamon and is definitely more interesting than just a generic vanilla, I'm surprised at how long it took me to love this.
This is one of those scents that is just okay! I think for me this is because it's heavy on the vanilla and tonka so as interesting as it smells on when you focus on the blackcurrent note, at a distance it just smells generic.
This does manage to smell warm and cold at the same time which is very interesting, I just find it basic and okay and it's nothing that blows my socks off, it's just a basic nice smelling vanilla floral

Soozatska

My baby!! I'm in denial that this is discontinued. How could they?!!

For me, the black currant is the real centerpiece of this perfume. Yes, it's heavy on the vanilla and tonka, but the true black currant note is what brings depth and dimension to the other notes. It shows the potential of fruity notes to bring both a freshness and sophistication to a fragrance, rather than just flat sweetness.

As others have astutely mentioned, it really does feel both warm and cold at the same time, with the florals and green notes dancing around the warm, rich vanilla. I just can't get enough of these gorgeous contrasts. Warm and cold, rich and strong with sillage, yet delicate and soft, ahh!! It's everything.

I swear I'm going to write an essay called everything I love is discontinued. Lol

Kots_Tanya

Just received my full bottle few days ago and I love it so much. I cant believe I use to dislike it. This is absolutely gorgeous fragrance. I have to disagree to the comment below. To me it smells nothing like Dior Addict. Dior Addict has dominant notes of Jasmine and Vanilla and slight clove/cinnamon like note a bit to it. I love it too and think its worth having both.
Manifesto is much more powdery vanilla, tonka bean, I can smell heliotrope, even though its not listed here and lily of the valley which I think adds that femininity to this fragrance. Black current adds a bit of freshness and airiness to it. Its a feminine beautiful powder floral vanilla that will get you compliments. I also think the bottle and the color suits this fragrance very well. Its a shame it has been discontinued. I would strongly suggest to try it and get a back up bottle if you already love it before it disappears and prices will rise sky high.

honeynoire

Beautiful bottle, I just wish I loved the scent more. It's a nice sweet, milky vanilla that sits close to the skin, however it smells weird to me as time passes. I think it's the green note. Not my favourite, but I would not re-purchase.

Amy Ann

Actually this isn't bad at all. I'm not a big fan of YSL and not even close of sweat perfumes still...hmm not bad. I received a bottle ones, I used it, I like it, I don't think I would ever buy it myself but if receive it again I would be glad to enjoy to the last molecule.
It is a vanilla scent, but it is a vanilla well controlled by citrus, slightly spicy I don't think it's a "sensual" boudoir scent like Shalimar, Obsession or other not even close, it's a wearable vanilla scent, I can't say that it is a feminist perfume because it does not have the necessary note of distinction and coolness but it is a perfume that a successful woman can wear from time to time on short working days or on free days. It's also very ok for the evening.

RachelSeun

With Manifesto, even though it is a sweet vanilla fragrance, for me, I can definitely smell the fresh green and floral notes within this fragrance which separates it from smelling like the oh so popular Black Opium or the luxurious yet buttery sweet Cinema. Not the most unique fragrance neither is it the most memorable from the YSL line in my opinion but I use it as a layering fragrance, mixing it with Mugler’s Alien and Dior’s Addict and receive so many compliments when I do so.

ma2780

I go back and forth on this one. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I don't care for it. To my nose, it's a powdery, slightly cold vanilla and not much else. Sometimes I pick up on the green notes. Also, depending on the day, sometimes this has a clean diaper-ish smell on my skin, which of course is not ideal. It's very classy and elegant, in the same wheelhouse as mon guerlain, but a very different scent. I probably wouldn't even call this a gourmand-- it's a pretty true vanilla along the lines of vanilla extract...not necessarily edible, the vanilla here is pretttty dry. I would guess there's nothing at all overwhelmingly offensive about this to most, I think maybe it just feels too conservative for me. Still beautiful and classy.

Excellent longevity-- 6+ hours, moderate

BoutiqueLove

This is a bland linear unsweet vanilla next to an office printer ink cartridge and an aloe vera plant. It like toast- no flavour intrigue or vibrancy. Dry clean and one dimensional.
But its long lasting with good sillage. Bottle is 8/10
Boring and safe

giorgia.helena

I generally don’t like this perfume at all.

By looking at the notes, it is very intriguing, because I thought it’s going to be a sweet floral warm and sensual scent, but when I sprayed it, it is actually unexpectedly underwhelming, not floral at all, not warm enough and not sensual enough type of perfume. It is that kind of perfume that is quiet, flat, non-existence, basically is lack of something on any aspect!

The vibe it tries to send reminds me of Estée Lauder Sensuous, but that one apparently sells more interesting and has been done better.

To sum up, very disappointed and regretted of buying it.

AmTheLastUnicrn

Half vanilla and then tonka bean and black current share space with sandalwood and the florals.

Mmm mmm I live for this perfume and it's one of those ones that make my eyes roll back in my head and drool like homer Simpson.

CelesteN

The vanilla in this is very warm and inviting. There is almost a "spicy" vibe from it that makes it very sophisticated.
I'm 24 and I don't believe it ages me or is too mature for me at all. My boyfriend loves to snuggle me after I've applied it too.
One of my first blind buys and I would think it would be a very safe blind buy for anyone.

Jacquis

Manifesto EDP is an interesting mix of vanilla, green notes and lily of the valley on this rainy summer day. It is a unique perfume which gives me warm and cool aspects. The other notes might bloom at different temperatures but at the current 85F rainy day, this is what I'm getting. Makes me more interested in trying other "green" vanillas. Manifesto can be worn all year long and suited to any occasion. Very versatile.

countrynoodle

This perfume is soft and delicate. Its much more mature than I was expecting; but I do not feel as though it is "too" mature for me and I'm in my late 20s. Its very powdery sweet vanilla in the opening and on me it doesn't really change or stray from that. I do not get any green notes at all; way more powdery/light musky sweet mature vanilla. Definitely not offensive at all. To me its really sophisticated and cozy at the same time. Overall I find it a lovely keeper and great for work, going out with the girls, or even just lounging at home. I think it is also a really great reach for those that like to spray perfume right after a shower or before bed at night.

stefani valini

I don't really love this scent. I think its a mature scent. Its very green at the opening and it has something in this one I didnt like...i think is the mix between green notes and sandalwood. It's not a safe blind buy. Its a good perfume, just not my vibe.

nurism96

This perfume has a very unique scent. I love the black currant and the vanilla in here. Very sweet yet mature scent, is not one of those teenage perfumes that smell like vanilla and fruits, this is something else, it smells classy and sophisticated.

katie94th

This is a very nice Vanilla perfume, however the L'Elixir/Intense flanker is the best as it lasts longer and has an interesting depth to it.

Manifesto is quite delicate and soft, I can't imagine it to offend anyone. I gave it away to my mum, however, as I prefer the L'Elixir. If you are looking for a nice strong Vanilla that will last all day and a bit, go for the elixir. Also, if you like Alien Essence Absolue, you may like the elixir version. Hopefully, they don't discontinue it!

If you are more into, subtle scents, the original Manifesto or the L'Eclat version would be the best for you.

returnatyourperil

this is nice - at first spray i get a fruity/floral vanilla vibe (the top and middle notes played well on my skin) then it dries down to a somewhat woody, warm, salty and almondy vanilla. its moderate in terms of longevity and sillage but i think its a keeper - this would be really nice in fall, i wouldnt wear this in the summertime

ill say this is one of those fragrances that can be kinda nice but boring on its own, so if you want to layer any fragrance of yours with something thats sweet but not too sweet, use this! i layered it on top of deep red by hugo boss to tone the deep red down a bit and it smelled soo good

EDIT: i was really looking forward to wearing this in fall/wintertime, but its odd how a fragrance can be both warm and cold at the same time - im assuming its the green notes giving me that cold vibe
the green notes mixing with the dry powdery vanilla makes my head hurt a bit

Tt777

This is my second review- I didn’t own fantasy the nice remix when I initially reviewed this- they are similar!!! I feel the price point on this should be closer to what I paid for my fantasy bottle- as I reviewed earlier this smells bt a body spray and a designer perfume- it’s a nice sweet floral but I currently cannot justify a fb at full price but maybe consider purchasing if I got a great deal- I currently have a decant

bleuciel

Is this being discontinued?! I can hardly find it in stores in Germany at the moment, only some lost 30 ml bottles...

It's really beautiful, creamy and sweet, and has a sophisticated vibe to it. The sweetness comes from vanilla, but it's not cloyingly sweet fruity-mess type of vanilla, it is more grown-up and because of the creamy note, I would say it is a clean type of vanilla.

The creamy note is like a body lotion kind of note, not powdery, although the notes do indicate that. To me powdery means Insolence, Samsara, Infusion D'Iris, Narciso Poudree, this kind of perfumes. This is more onctuous.

I only smell the creamy note and sweet but sophisticated vanilla in the dry-down. And a little bit of sandalwood. It smells expensive. Longevity is mediocre though, 4-5 hours on skin...

Edited to add: I purchased this and after several all-day wears, I finally decided it is not for me. It smelled better on paper. On my skin (or clothes) it smells very green and that note is really bugging me. It overwhelms the vanilla and takes away from the creaminess that I initially smelled on paper. Thank god I have only a 30ml bottle.

Balletflowers

I absolutely love this! I can’t believe that because I’ve smelled it in magazine ads & spritz the testers in stores & hated it with a passion. I thought it was too strong & mature for me. Lately I’ve been into sweet, warm scents so I thought I’ll give it another try. At first spritz, it was strong but lovely! I get fresh bergamot, jasmine, vanilla, Tonka bean. A great affordable dupe for this is Beyonce Rise, spot on!

agj

Blind bought this based off of Mila Le Blanc raving about it some time last year, and I was pleasantly surprised. I bought it as a way to sweeten up and mix with some of my other fragrances as I assumed it would be too sweet on its own however it is beautiful!

More complex than I had imagined, based on the notes I thought it would be a similar vibe to pink sugar but it is much more sophisticated. The tonka bean and jasmine sambac notes are the most prominent on my skin.

1summer123

It's a sweet vanilla fruity scent. I'm wearing it only in the evening, as I find it a little bit too sweet. To my nose the black currant is very present in the dry down. I would rate it 7/10.

Rozan

A beautiful perfume. From the first moment I was struck by the resemblance to another composition - Good Girl Legere. The difference is the lack of cocoa notes, which over time take the initiative in Good Girl. Manifesto are lighter, feminine and elegant.

Hurricane_Hilda

Bought a sample of this . Not a love at first sniff. It smells like ... pine ... vanilla and a teeny bit of roach spray lol. But in a good way I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. 1-10 id rate it a 6. My personal preference is sickly sweet. This just smells okay to me

Swedelish

I bought Manifesto when it first came out. I went into the perfume department eager to leave with a new fragrance and with little time to shop I hastily decided upon this one. I paid $80 for a 30 ml and I left the shop feeling in my gut that it was a bad purchase. It was touted a vanilla fragrance and vanilla was what I was after. I liked it well enough upon sampling, thinking maybe it needed time for the vanilla to come out. But that wasn't it. It was a dry, herbal green floral with a little swirl of alcoholic vanilla. A bit dated, powdery and musky with the classic YSL base.

I brought it to work a few days later and ended up giving it to my friend who I hoped would find more to appreciate about it than I did. We don't work together anymore but we're still friends and I recently asked her what ever came of that perfume in the princessy bottle. She said she gave it to her daughter who gave it to her friend. I guess nobody wanted my Manifesto. I just hope somebody somewhere appreciated it.

I smelled it again not long ago and I still don't like it.

Good story. ;)

WildDove

Manifesto EDP has the most beautiful rich boozy vanilla in the opening blast and first minute or so, but the drydown didn't work for me. Maybe a personal chemistry thing. If it just stayed like the opening, it would be in the signature category.

zirzilla

To me the drydown smells exactly like Britney Spears Fantasy and for this reason I just can't justify the price

Apiaceae

Another one of those "nice but not interesting enough" types of perfume for me. Starts sparkly, but loses its shine very quickly.
All that it's left on my skin after a couple of hours is a bit of woodiness along with vanilla. I got it for a terrific price but I would not spend that much on a vanilla like this one. I am not saying it's bad, but if you are not a huge vanilla fan, this will not satisfy you. Good for everyday though!

Vanillastorm40

Very happy that I only samples this. Where is the vanilla and the Woody scent? Hard pass. Not a safe blind buy.

rainfairy

I just received my sample of this perfume. I am not crazy about it. It starts pretty strong. It's not sweet. It's more floral. I kind of get leather or suede. I do love leather in some perfumes, but this smells a bit dry and serious. I'm not in love with this scent. I would still wear this sometimes. I have to be in the mood for this to wear it. It's more of a mature scent. I don't think it's a sexy scent. The dry down is very soft. It's just an ok scent for me to wear in the office. It somewhat resembles Givenchy's Dahlia Divin EDP, but Dahlia Divin is more musky/amber-y.

flowerbomb81

I got a 90ml bottle for £47 which is probably the right price for this as it is just a pleasant day to day scent. On me this starts out fresh (which I wish would stay longer). It then develops into a subtly semi-sweet powdery skin scent. Not overly powdery, a pleasant light cosmetic powder that I imagine a classy lady's French boudoir would smell. Nice for day to day wear. I will save this for Spring time in the UK as I like my sweet scents for Winter.

Tt777

Sample was delivered last night and I immediately thought that this smells very familiar to me- I love vanilla, gourmands and amber scents and started going thru my collection and sprayed to compare- I initially sprayed intimate fantasy which is the same family however manifesto is sweeter- I then sprayed Italiano Donna which is DG pour femme intense dupe- um similar vibe-ishhh? Then sprayed Michael Kors sexy amber- again sameish family-

Then I read all the reviews and saw ppl made comparisons to the og fantasy, pour femme and allure which some ppl think smells like sexy amber-

One person compared it to hypnose- I think they are cousins but I like hypnose better-

With all this said, this isn’t quite the scent I hoped for- it isn’t bad in anyway but not groundbreaking- the notes on paper are a winning combination but this fell a little short- it’s a safe, vanilla with floral notes- there is something very milky and creamy that sets it apart from all the other perfumes I compared it to- kind of like a condensed milky, almost caramel but powdery note, in a food way not a baby powder way- sorta like a tres leches cake!

I do think this falls between a Victoria secret fragrance and a designer fragrance- very wearable, playful, girly, flirtatious in an innocent way-

I will continue to test this out and plan to order a sample of the elixir ;)

P.s. nothing like la vie est belle!!!

Mischell

Beautiful, I'm in LOVE !
I feel clean and feminine wearing it.
To me, it's inoffensive everyday fragrance.
Perfectly balanced, sweet but fresh at the same time.

Majessty

If this scent was a word it would be FIERCE. I dunno I kinda get a fierce vibe from this fragrance it's quite sexy, to be honest. That's what I get from it though. I would recommend trying it in-store though since a lot of these reviews are mixed.

That's all.

A very fruity vanilla, sorta sweet and just a little bit woody on the dry down. At a fast sniff, reminds me of B&Bs Pink Chiffon, if only it was upgraded and more sophisticated. While it's nice, not something I'd personally wear, though I think it'd be stunning on the right person. Probably best used as a fall or winter fragrance.

STARISH

2016, I was imparting lessons, and a 15 years old student was wearing this. It definitely wasn't the best choice for her age. I thought that she should be using something lighter and friendlier instead. The sillage was so heavy her classmates said they could smell her from the other side of the classroom. I agreed with them.

I own this one myself and I still have the bottle I received as a gift in 2013. I reviewed it back then.
Throughout the years, I have changed my appreciation from 'love' to 'like' because this perfume is so strong and warm I only dare to wear it in some fall/winter nights.

I still enjoy the fragrance, but it needs to be worn wisely.

This is delicious! The vanilla is amazing, so real and tasty and it takes center stage. The citrus, green and wood elements balance perfectly together behind it. The tonka bean is not excessive. It's just creamy, sweet, earthy goodness. It's for a confident woman that has her stuff together and nothing to prove. Love this fragrance! It's one of those ones you smell the sprayer before applying and your eyes roll back a bit just appreciating how damn good it is.

agsss7

Cosy and beautiful fragrance. At the opening, vanilla and tonka bean makes it sweat and powdery, but black currant and bergamot gives it that sharpness, juiciness and freshness. I love the opening and find it very unique. In the drydown I smell mostly vanilla, but it is a bit green, woody and not too sweet. I think I can also smell sandalwood and cedar.

Very good projection and sillage.

I like to wear it on fresh rainy days, I feel this is when it smells the best on my skin.

ignatzb

An elegant fragrance with a warm heart. The white floral opening is restrained, but sugar coated vanilla overtakes it and ushers in a cozy dry down with a powdery blend of tonka bean and sandalwood that lingers close to the skin. It's not the most unique blend, but has a distinct character, and could fit almost any occasion - especially due to its nifty combination of longevity and soft sillage.

If I could make one change, I would change the very sweet vanilla note and give it a true vanilla bean smell, to further unite the green/floral and gourmand elements.

anflax

On my skin , I can’t detect any vanilla nor fruits at all. It just smell only nutty ( tonka?) and some lipsticky smell . That smell is not bad but why do i want to smell like nutty and lipstick????

Sorry this is not for me , I’m going to try its flanker , Elixir? I may have luck on that one .

Katryna G

Powdery and fresh. What a strange and amazing conflict. I feel it creamy, almondy, lipsticky, green, woody, dewy...Oh, but also fruity, floral...This is crazy! And therefore amazing. Love it. Like a sexy mess well held on together. So well held on that you are impressed. Messy and artsy but at the same time so elegant and classy and sophisticated? Wearing it i do feel very classy and confident. Like i can take over the world! Who doesn't want that in a perfume?
P.S. i imagine vanilla-bergamot ice-cream with roasted almond bits tastes the way this smells! Yummy

sria

Brash but addictive

I always ignored the Manifesto line until Manifesto L‘Elixir got recommended to me on fragrantica. Because I love L‘Elixir I also got interested in the original. Well, this is nice, but L‘Elixir is the better version by far, at least to me.
The opening of Manifesto is beautiful and unusual. Juicy currant and bergamot, leafy and floral greens and dark, creamy vanilla that has a bit of a Dior Addict vibe are blended into something warm, but fresh. I usually hate lily of the valley but I think I get a hint of it here and it‘s actually nice in combination with the other notes.

Unfortunately the drydown falls a bit flat. It does smell good, still like vanilla with some refreshing green accents, but it has a papery undercurrent. You know that wet paper background smell you get when you spray too much perfume on a flimsy paper blotter in a drugstore? I get that here. And even later, after hours on my skin, what is left is a generic creamy tonka with an artificial vibe. Such a shame, maybe it‘s just my skin that does this, but because of this I prefer L‘Elixir.

M3arts

A classic that never gets old. I love it

maya.nasr98

I just didn't like it from the first smell,,it smells cheap,,

saintleegray

Very ladylike to my nose, when I wear this I want to stand up straight and wear heels. :) I'm not sure how anybody could call this a gourmand, vanilla. This is one of the least gourmand vanillas I own. It's sweet-ish, and musky with some light florals and woods, the lime isn't showing up on my skin (a bit disappointing). I like it a lot.

Siv7Stars

Very similar to Emporio Armani Lei, although I can't seem to add that in the boxes above.

ScurvyLynn

Two words:

*Cherry Coke*

That is what this fragrance smells like to me.

dahrling

Cozy, beautiful, and enchanting in every way. This one feels like cashmere that envelops the skin. It's perfect for cold weather when it makes me feel warm - the bottle perfectly captures the scent inside - it's "sunny". It brings a smile to my face whenever I catch a whiff of it - and I know I'm not alone! People love this one on me and it's a compliment getter. I love it, it's long-lasting but with moderate projection on me. It'd be hard to offend anyone while wearing this Manifesto, because it's never loud and the only thing it really seems to declare is the feeling of peace.

Tigi

I adore the delicious, realistic and GORGEOUS vanilla of YSL Manifesto. Reminds me a lot of Dior Addict but smoother, with less spice. If you're a sucker for a gorgeous, warm vanilla, YSL Manifesto deserves your attention at least to test.
Fragrance: strong 9 of 10
Performance: moderate or better on all counts (longevity, sillage, projection)
Value: Very good. You get what you pay for and this is worth every modest penny.

annubi19

This is a great fragrance that is not sickly sweet. It is mature/sweet well-behaved sweet if-you-will. I love it. It's not an in your face type of perfume. It's delicate and sensual. You definitely feel elegant and lady-like wearing this and it's cozy because of the warm mature vanilla. By mature I don't mean old I mean not the fake vanilla it's a more delicate complex vanilla. I'd say the dry down is a more powdery vanilla but expensive and not the cheap kind and translates into delicate and sensual. It's definitely in my top 5 within my collection. Similar to Britney Spears Fantasy (Naughty Remix) Has a similar dry down but the Naughty remix has a more woodsy dry down that is much stronger and evident than Manifesto. This is softer for sure and more subtle/elegant.

pr-few-m

sweet fruity powdery scent for evening use. so feminine yet a heady option.

milkara

I agree with some of the comments here saying that this perfume starts off really good but after a couple of hours it starts to smell like some cheap supermarket perfume. I almost bought this perfume right after I smelled it but luckily decided to wait it out.

Definitely not worth my money!

I stumbled into a Sephora like store when in Lisbon and sprayed on Manifesto le Parfum and loved how rich, warm and vanilla it smelled and def unisex in nature. My traveling buddies were complimenting me all night as we hit the town. I’ve been looking for it upon my return to the US and found it hard to find and quite pricey. Low and behold, I found the EDP on eBay for a reasonable enough price and got it thinking it would be close enough to le Parfum. Not even close. I find the EDP medicinal, cold and a little off putting. Maybe it the coldish bergamot and green notes working against the warmer vanilla and tonka notes, but it’s kind of a mess. Maybe the price difference is in place for a reason. Thumbs down on the EDP

PricklyAndHot

Very powdery. I could hardly remember it. I almost always love fragrances by YSL, but this one is not impressive.

Jaja86

I can't believe this perfume has been discontinued but it is an all time favourite of my husband. He loves it so much every time I wear it.

Such a lovely perfume and almost reminds me of the casino scent, don't know why

THE ORIGINAL 2012 - MANIFESTO - DISCONTINUED ????

I checked many web sites, Nordstrom, Sephora, etc...

They do not sell it - if they ever did - they do not sell it anymore.

Macy's USA web site says that it currently unavailable, etc...

Here in Canada, The Bay (Hudson's Bay) only sells 50ml size.

The official YSL site still sell it, but then why not the big store chains anymore?

I knew the oh-so - expensive Manifesto Elixir (which has only been made in 50ml size) had been discontinued many months ago, but the original too?

I have smelled l'Éclat - hate it, but LOVED the original Manifesto, even had 2 100ml bottles in my life.....

On me, Boucheron's Place Vendôme smells 95% identical to the original (2012) Manifesto, only missing a hint of the vanilla that Manifesto has.

At a much more affordable price than Manifesto.

In my book, whenever a fragrance is being discontinued, places that still carry them should lower the prices of the bottles that they still have in stock !

I do not like to buy discontinued fragrances, you never know for how long sellers have had them in stock, and the scent could change, if not the color too.

No thanks.

Missing my original Manifesto.

Sylvie in Québec (Canada).

NOTE: I have sent an e-mail to YSL to see if the 2012 original Manifesto is really discontinued. I hope that they will reply to me.

Nessa60

I just found this amazing fragrance in Spain. It has staying power and amazing flowery smell.

BBarragan

Zulily actually has this fragrance on sale. It seems like they bring around some of the retired scents often.

Mammuchan

This is the first picture that comes up on the Perfume entry on Wikipedia, I love that!

SniffinBloomingBubbleLand

Quite beautiful perfume, when spray. Sweet and fruity.

Like Forbidden Rose: Fruity fine light perfume, that causes later an impression of flour/ dryness. May be some citrus-thing. Tested a few times, and finally noticed this feature. It's not nice, if apply plenty of it on one's neck with crazy 4 squirts, but very lovely in normal use. :)

P.S. I sprayed it on my neck at those days. 3 years have passed, and I tested it again. Now I think that this perfume is too heavy! Applied it on my wrist, and it disturbed me quite a while, the over-feminine, over-fine perfume. I wonder, how it was mild/soft 3 years ago, and now heavy and disturbing?! It's so super-feminine, 100%.

cufberte.daniem

It's a lovely scent that was initially much too indolic for me. After waiting it out, down my shirt, its not-too-sweet vanilla haven! Jasmine and amber are so delicious together

Nova_

I tried it in the duty free, and it smelled great initially but with an iffy note. I thought, maybe it wasn't stored properly or something. So, I decided to get it from a reputable store, so I wouldn't get ripped off.

It started rather good, a bit sweet, vanilla, oriental, with a hint of something ominous. After a little while, it turns eventually into an extremely obnoxious scent, like a cheap knockoff perfume or a product used to unclog the drains, or a pesticide. Yes, it left an "aftertaste" of a pesticide so to speak.

It reminds me so much of Dolce and Gabbana's Pour Femme, except Manifesto has this nauseating base note that gives me a nasty headache.

Mushana

This reminds me of Burberry Brit with a touch of class!

gingerascotttea

I expected to be impressed by this, but I'm not. On me it smells ordinary and has a basic, plain feel to it. Tried to like this on t least three occasions and no I'm not keen to buy. If you enjoy this fragrance then I'm happy for you

BeguilingBeauty

Okay, out of confusion because others keep saying it's still available in their country, I contacted YSL via the yslbeautyus.com site and I got the same response I got last time. They're sorry to say it's discontinued and that they have no suggestions for replacements at this current time. The first email I sent I asked if it was discontinued, the followup email I sent asking if it was only discontinued in the US and I received the same reply to both. So, I went to the website and double checked. It is still gone from the US version of the YSL beauty website. But there's a way to change countries at the top of the page, and I tried UK, France, Spain, Chile, and Australia and all of those countries (there are more countries but I didn't check every website), had Manifesto still for sale. So either this is solely discontinued in the US, or perhaps it will be eventually discontinued internationally at some later date. I can't get any clarification from YSL Beauty on this. I see it's still available on a lot of websites in the US, but if you do a Google search, it's not available at any department store that I can see. It seems to only be available at like Overstock, Walmart, Fragrancenet, etc... I only posted on here that it was discontinued because it's one of my favorites (though it's not my signature) and I know how frustrating it can be to find out late that a fragrance is discontinued because you end up being left with marked up bottles on eBay that cost 3 and 4x as much as the perfume cost initially. I'm glad it's still available via the website and department stores in other countries. Hopefully, they don't discontinue it elsewhere.

ehalon33

Best perfume i ever owned i Love it :)

lapis1227

This is meh. Amazing opening with bright citrus and settles into jasmine, then fades to nothing on my skin. Bottle is pretty.

KrissyKris

I really like YSL perfumes and so when I saw this one, I had to test spray it. And good thing I did.

Very strong and sickly sweet. Vanilla, berry concoction that unfortunately lasts for a long time.
I can see it being worn at night and probably in the fall, but I wouldn't recommend it.

For the money, one may as well get 2 of the sweet smelling perfumes from Juicy Couture line.

denizandbeyond_4

Uww. It's ruddy scent of mystery and elegant!
I don't think that I'll get bored.
Floral / Sweet / Powdery / Woody.. everything...
Everything could smell so beautiful.
I've been fascinated!

Sillage and longevity: very good

Bottle= 9/10
scent= 9.5 / 10
Longevity= 9 /10

Annalisa12

I don't know if this fragrance is indeed discontinued but I saw a lot of them today for sale at the duty-free stores along the California border. All the YSL perfumes were there: Babyoll, Paris, Mon Paris and Manifesto. Look online for duty-free stores near you if you're looking to buy one.

BeguilingBeauty

I live in the US and I was on the YSL for North America/US, so maybe it's still available in Europe. I don't know.

jovejove

The issue with L’Oreal and how they operate; sell what’s new. They don't grow brands like other companies, except for Flowerbomb, Acqua Di Gio and Armani Code. Everything else is left to sink or swim on its own after a year. Manifesto is a culprit of this. People still look for it, but once Black Opium and Si came on to the scene, everyone was pushed to buy those two instead. It was such a huge fragrance, but the direction of the vendor killed this fragrance. You can still get this in Europe for now.

maria.rodríguez.cruz

It's still being sold in Europe. Is it really discontinued?

jaumemiro

im confused, I bought this bc I absolutely love it but now that I have it its like a love-hate relationship... I don't get it, I think its the black currant but I really don't know...

BeguilingBeauty

Discontinued:

I contacted YSL beauty because this is no longer on their website and they confirmed that it is discontinued and they have none in stock so if this is your signature scent I advise you to buy it where you can.

ghaid99

LOVE LOVE LOVE this perfume, its soo soft and warm scent and the vanilla note is strong.
also its along lasting perfume.
I recommend.

gtabasso

tonka, vanilla, cassis, pencil shavings, green notes

rola.asad

Yes, it's unique,,, yes, it's a lovely woody-vanilla mix, but it get me bored so quickly!
sillage and longevity: moderate.
