Black Opium Floral Shock by Yves Saint Laurent is a Floral Fruity Gourmand fragrance for women. Black Opium Floral Shock was launched in 2017. Black Opium Floral Shock was created by Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc. Top notes are Pear, Freesia, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Gardenia, Solar Notes, White Flowers and Orange Blossom; base notes are Coffee, White Musk and Amberwood.

Yves Saint Laurent announces a new edition of the popular Black Opium collection to come out at the start of 2017, called Black Opium Floral Shock. The new edition Black Opium Floral Shock is announced as a fresher version with more floral and green aromas and the first one to possess the “iced coffee” accord. The new composition belongs to the family of fruity - florientals and "shocks" with its zesty lemon opening, white floral character in the heart with dominant gardenia, and iced coffee and white musk at the base of the perfume.

The freshness of lemon, bergamot and pear in the top notes mixed with freesia is the first floral accord of the composition. The heart includes white flowers of golden gardenia, orange blossom and a solar floral accord. The base ends with iced coffee, white musk, mineral accord and woody amber. Perfumers Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc collaborated on the creation.

The bottle retains the shape and design of the original; it is transparent and covered with black sparkles that disappear at the bottom and reveal the pink color of the juice. The face of the campaign is model Edie Campbell. The fragrance is available as a 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

My favorite perfume! I was able to find a bottle after it being discontinued, and am using it for special occasions. I love the scent in cold weather, it makes it smell magnetic and I have received many compliments for that. That said, it doesn’t seem to last, after a couple of hours it’s gone and does not linger on clothes either. It smells elegant and the florals make it lighter than usual Opium, which makes it wearable in the warmer weather as well.

I bought a partial bottle of Blacl Opium Floral Shock. It was discounted and cheap so I risked the blind buy. Boy am I pleasantly surprised! Right off the bat you can tell it's a Black Opium flanker. The coffee and white florals are there but the flotals in particular take a back seat. This is a more fruitier version of the original. It's still sweet but the sweet comes from the fruits and florals. The lasting power is pretty decent. I could still smell it on myself at the end of the day.

I would never normally wear Black Opium to work but this flanker is definitely office appropriate. It's toned down amd suitable for most occasions. I'm glad I got my hands on it!

pinkalpaca

This just smells like a generic fruity-floral perfume. I agree with other commenters who said that this is very different from the original. It’s pleasant but there’s so many perfumes that smell just like this.

yellowwednesday

Smells a bit like milk tea in the opening. I smell fruit but not necessarily pear. Just a sweetness. I don’t really smell white florals at all. The notes in this are all things I usually love but in this it’s just okay. The longevity is terrible. As others have said it dries down and fades fast at around the 50 minute mark. It’s a nice scent but I’m not wowed. I much prefer BO neon, that scent lasts for an eternity

Black Opium Floral Shock
(38R200F, USD 80, Feb 2018)
New bottle, Male Skin, First Impression

Black Opium Floral Shock is 2nd one from the line I decided to test out as I want to try a few before actualize with my “Ultimate Black Opium”

I found out that this one still stay quite true to Black Opium DNA (mild coffee + Smooth Vanilla) however, this one is quite lighter (30-40%) than Original Black Opium

Scent note stay true too Black Opium original, however arrangement has changed. White flower being push forward in Sweet (candy like) Jasmine layover even milder Coffee note with more Sugary Vanilla blanket.

When scent almost reach dry down, this remind me of Aqua di Gioria but more on Vanilla blanket whicg I can connect as Aqua di Gioria has Jasmine + Sugar note on Cedar, This one is Jasmine on Sugary Vanilla on Amberwood base.

I will not classify this as Gourmand, but more floral amber with dessert touch. However, as the scent is thinner, I think this is appropriate for day wear as well.

The scent wear strongly 3 hours before fade significantly into small scent bubble, however - as Black Opium original, the scent never be skinscent on my skin.

I would love to reach for day wear, when I crave black opium. However, I still wish to test Nuit Blanche for ultimate day time Black Opium. The scents leans even more feminine than Black Opium orginal, I think fewer guy would be able to pull this one off.

Final score
Score : 7/10 as male user (white flower a bit dominant for women I would vote this 9/10)
Projection : Strong for 3 hours, before fade significantly to smaller scent bubbles.
Longevity : 5-6, after much softer but not skinscent.
Classification : Feminine (Femme 85%, Homme 15%)

My tried and true. This is nothing like any of the other black opiums and is one I’ll always reach for. No idea if it’s even still for sale in NZ anymore, as I got this a few years ago from an elderly friend whose sense of smell had gone. This is musky/floral/sweet - perhaps a touch too youthful for some? and the only issue I have with this , is that its longevity is non existent. Definitely not one that projects but one i genuinely enjoy smelling on myself. I detest heavy church nana perfumes (think Chanel No.5) so this suits me just fine.

mirnam

I had high hopes for this since I'm a BO fan and I have 4 other flankers that I adore however unfortunately this was a scrubber. Not sure which note is messing it up but it has to be either one of the white florals or the solar notes. Glad I didn't pay full price for this.

ca$hm3re

Why do all the other black opium flankers basically just smell of og black opium, and then this one is so far from the original that it shouldn’t even be a flanker?🤦♀️

Anyway, this one is one that I should like, I like floral, I like black opium, and yet every time I smell it it makes me feel sick. Firstly, it smells cheap, like a supermarket body mist. The scent itself is not classy and just has that room spray / cheap body mist vibe about it (I think it’s the freesia which doesn’t smell very well blended and is just sticking out like a sore thumb). But why does it make me feel sick? It just is headache inducing and makes me feel nauseous, the same way alien does. I like a lot of white floral scents, so I am not adverse to white floral in case you think that is why. I just think this is a really poorly executed, cheap smelling white floral that I really can’t stand. No one around me likes it either and wants to take it unfortunately.

Gemsense

The OG smells good but has no sillage and wears off within an hour. I bought this, well every time I try wearing this, my teenage daughter asks why it smells like a dirty diaper around me... Eeew, I thought it was just my nose and that it would settle but no it's gross on me. Solar notes always go bad on me when mixed with certain florals. I haven't figured out which ones but I'll do my homework eventually and then steer clear of that mixture. On to intense now! Sandalwood works far better on me than patchouli, so I think that's my lucky opium 🤞

Elvira3141

I love it so much.. very nice top middle and base notes and for all black opium, this one is the best in my opinion..not too much and feminim

Lukuzga

This is the most fruity and light black opium from the whole family; it might not smell much different than your regular BO at first spray, but the dry down is so sweet and fruity! This white floral mixture doesn’t give the usual grandma smell at all, it’s just beautiful.

cherryontop

Just the best thing I have ever smelt. Sweet, syrupy pear and coffee. I’m so sad having read this has been discontinued… I managed to snag a pretty much full bottle on depop for £28 which I will now have to use super sparingly 😔

mevans

Elegant white floral that's more sweet than you'd normally find, because it's Black Opium of course. It has decent projection but is fairly light and shouldn't bother anyone that is sensitive. But if I'm wearing it out, I have to bring it with me to reapply half way through the day. It's a nice daily wear fragrance.

This is one of my best fragrances I ever had. I love original BO also but this flanker is more feminine and sophisticated yet seductive.

Starting with juicy pear and some citrus, and following by white flowers.
I can sniff unsweetened coffee clearly on my skin. Sweet scent is coming from flowers, not from sugar.
Last note is musk combined with bitter coffee.
So luxury and suitable for 20-up.

Longevity of BO floral shock is longer than original one.

Gigiija

Pears are feeling very strongly. The scent is full of warmth, everything perfectly balanced. I feel a bit of bubble gum. It smells delicious. Floral notes aren't too flashy.

Nora Gad

i hated so much it has no character coffee with floral ,What a mess , Not for me , Thanks god it's just 50 ml bottle and i'll give it to a friend 🤪

scentsandscentisibility

Black Opium Floral Shock is a paradoxical masterpiece. She's delicate, but empowered. Strong, but understated. Undeniably feminine, yet immensely tough. This fragrance is an opinionated, career-oriented, independent woman who is passionate and sexy, with a soft heart and a boundless capacity for kindness even if she sometimes presents a cold exterior.

Floral Shock bears with it a lightness that I feel the original Black Opium lacked. Its beauty lies in its versatility - I cannot imagine a situation where this flanker would not be well-received; in the office on a summer's day, at an autumnal wedding, or a jazz club in the winter. A picnic in the park on a crisp spring afternoon. She's sophisticated without ever being pretentious, and youthful without being juvenile.

She's an iced, black coffee - a cold brew sipped through a metal straw, surrounded by a blooming bouquet of white flowers, striding past a stand of candied pears and boozy vanilla syrup. She's an espresso martini on a Friday night, after an indulgent after-work treat at a local gelato joint.

Black Opium Floral Shock was probably my first venture into the world of "big girl" perfumes. As a poor university student with a minimum-wage, part-time job, treating myself to a bottle of designer perfume felt like a big step - one I've never looked back from. That was years ago. To this day, this beautiful perfume remains in my top three, where I believe it will reside until something undeniably phenomenal comes along to contest it. I've repurchased multiple times (amidst rumours of this potentially being discontinued, I purchased multiple back-ups) and will be devastated if it ceases to exist. It's almost a part of my persona at this stage, and, even if my scent wardrobe as grown significantly since, so many of my nearest and dearest associate it with me. And that alone feels pretty dang special.

kaittt

I got a sample of this perfume and I ran to the store to buy the full size as soon as I first tried it. For me, this scent is the perfect signature scent. It's wearable for all seasons, day and night. perfectly balanced between floral and sweet, while still deep, rich, and musky. It's perfect for all ages, mature and sexy yet young and playful I'm obsessed with it. It's sweeter than most perfumes I like but it's so well balanced with floral, woody, and slight citrus that it never comes across as sugary or childish.

paroxism

This is what a nice and poised young girl wears on her nights out. It's calm but very sweet. The balance between the pear and coffee gives it a sense of freshness. It has a good sillage without being cloying. It was gifted to me on my 18th birthday but I don't reach for it anymore. Those around me seem to like it as it's very pleasant but I don't like this much sweetness around me anymore.

notAnthea

I live in a tropical area so I am surprised how well this perfume performs!
Absolutely beautiful fragrance. I don’t get a lot of coffee with this fragrance but it layers very well over vanilla (ie. body oils/lotions)
EXTREMELY long lasting. I can put it on at 7am, come home at 6pm after a day of waitressing & my boyfriend can smell it on me. I think my favourite part of this is how it comes to life again at the end of the day when I have a shower. The steam fills the room as if I had just freshly spritzed it.

I would say it is nothing like the original at all- this is so much sweeter smelling and feminine

ilayda

This is the originals cooler updated younger sister. It smells like a delicious juicy pear and white floral. There's a slight citrus scent and coffee note that dry down beautifully. This is a very nice warm and sweet, slightly spicy fall scent. Its my signature for fall this year! love love love this scent.

bazbazar

Absolutely fantastic perfume! I ventured out to find myself a winter perfume last year, thinking of going for the original BO version since it’s a well-loved classic. At the YSL section however, Floral Shock struck me as being the younger, more universal version of the original, that seemed to be one to compliment my skin better (there was an intense plum smell in the original, which was absent here) and that’s where our love story began: sweet and creamy yet far from nauseating, the smell is perfectly describable as “full”, possessing everything a perfume should. It feels as though every note has a purpose, with a sharper (sharpness from the sliiiiiiight citrus) more floral opening, it changes into a deep coffee and spice amber with time, creating a cozy and warm bubble around the wearer.

Comparing it to the original, this year I decided to purchase the regular BO since it was on sale and I expected something similar, yet I was left a bit disappointed when it comes to the longevity and complexity of the smell. Both of these being bought around the same time a year apart, BO does not have the heat that the floral version and is far from lasting as long on skin (one application a day for floral shock was enough, compared to 2-3 for the OG). There is not much of a difference in the way it lays on skin, but floral shock is certainly more complex, making it’s partial namesake seem unfinished and unpolished.

ash45365

It’s a nice scent, not very strong and doesn’t last long for the price of the perfume. It starts out pretty floral but dries down into a fruity scent on me. Didn’t smell coffee at all. I liked this one but it’s not a favorite.

pamplemousse2

This actually doesn't smell too far off from the original Black Opium. It is lighter and brighter with less pepper though and I can smell a fruity floral element to it that's yummy. It's very pretty and I can smell it more strongly within about 3" from my skin, but it does fill up the room upon first applying. This is definitely lighter and more 'friendly' for spring or early summer in the BO line. However, for this being "floral shock," I feel it's more sweet and fruity than floral. It's musky, too. It's addictive to smell and I keep going back to my arm to get more of it. I will say though that it kind of falls into the 'generic crowd pleasing' scents, like BO and LVEB, but that doesn't terribly matter because it still smells nice and has a slight twist to it. This might be a bit heavy, screechy, and cloyingly sweet for warm weather though, so a cold spring day, in between winter and spring, might be a great time for this.

20 minutes after applying and my boyfriend came in on the other side of the room from me and asked if I put something on, so it is still projecting a lot. It's remained rather linear though in scent, still a pretty fruity floral slightly sunny scent.

40 minutes later and it's still projecting, meaning it's lasting longer than the original BO and other flankers with projection. It is almost a bit overwhelming though, but it has died down some. On my skin, it's sweet, almost slightly vanilla-y, perhaps from the amberwood. I never actually pick up the coffee notes in the BO fragrances, as it smells like a super sugary "coffee" drink to me and not actual black coffee. But I can see this smelling like an iced coffee with cream and sugar and some floral element to it, which is nice.

Okay, 1 hour in and I already hardly smell it now. There was a huge drop off in scent around the 50 minute mark, and now it's just a light skin scent I need my nose to my skin to smell. Like other BOs in the line, I feel like this would probably last much longer on clothing, but on the skin, it doesn't last much more than an hour unfortunately. It started out as an intense bomb, and then just quickly disappeared.

I asked my boyfriend as well at the 1 hour mark if he could still smell it in the case that maybe I just became anosmic to it fast because of how strong it was. But he also said he could only slightly smell it and only when he put his nose to my skin.

spideyjjk

i got this as a birthday gift but honestly, im not a huge fan of it. I smell a lot of milk tea in the opening and a bit of fruity and a bit of vanilla scent. its a good mixture and when sprayed, i am just not a fan of the opening notes. don't buy as a blind buy bc i don't think you'd be a big fan if u don't like different combinations.

milkyjoa

I just sampled this perfume yesterday. It's very pretty and much brighter than the original Black Opium. It smells like drinking an iced double bergamot milk tea on a warm day in a garden of white flowers. It's a gorgeous picnic kind of scent. The pear is noticeable and gives it a lovely crispness.

Christine94

I absolutely love this one! One of my favorites. Smells a lot like the original to me, just more flowers and citrusy, which for me makes it more special. I use it both in the winter and summer, day and night. It lasts a long time on my skin.

Juttajii

This is really multi-dimensional! With every whiff I get a different beautiful aspect. There's fruit, there's flowers, there's coffee and then there's the caramel.
The caramel ruins it for me. Someone said in the comments that this reminds them of Poison Girl, and now I can't get my 3rd grade Poison-wearing shit-bag of a teacher out of my head (nose).
I really like this and appreciate this. The pear and the solar notes especially are beautiful, but this is not for me.

WanderByMistake

Coffee + florals. Very special scent, and great for both day and night, but I did not like this combination on me. Beautiful bottle, but I regret blind buying it.

PerfumeKing14

This is probably the most different out of all the flankers which makes me like it more than the others because I find them all too similar where this one stands out more. It’s like a few different scents all mixed & it works amazingly. It’s strong without being in your face but it’s noticeable. I really like this, I get mainly pear with gardenia & it’s so good!

stefani valini

It was my signature scent. Its very pretty, sexy, sweet and warm. This version is very different from the original and its perfect for all year long, day and night(better for spring and fall). I definitly smell the solar notes and white flowers, especialy Gardenia. Coffee notes are subtil. Safe blind buy :) so georgous and I receive a lot of compliment on this one.

smellsbells

Smells like hana mori #7

Suzi

I don't usually go for YSL especially Opium but I really love this flanker of Opium they are usually gobsmackingly overpowering except for this one it is much more floral and gorgeous I live in NZ and we are in Winter at the moment and this is the perfect fragrance for the season warm and sensual and very classy. Not to mention the stunning bottle which will make a lovely addition to my perfume display bottles. I am very descerning when it comes to perfume I have to really love it to purchase it and I absolutely love this one it is really beautiful so pleased I took a chance I'm usually a D&G and Issey Miyake girl but this one is just divine I give it a 10 out of 10.

Gemsense

I bought this blind. I received it yesterday. It was hot muggy and sticky. First sprat it was gorgeous! Nice fruity sweet floral and better than prerogative. But that didnt last. It turned weak and gardenia was flat with that iced coffee mux which makes it actually smell like bad iced coffee breath on someone wearing a cheap linear gardenia. It faded very quickly too. Now thisis based on a hot muggy day with hot sweaty skin so im sure it will smell different on different days and with different temperatures. But fir now, its not good on me during the dog days of summer. Its actually very hard to find a good working perfume for hot humid sultry swampy days. I thought a few would blossom well in this weather but they melt to nothing :( i will be trying this again in different temps and report back which makes this one sing. And igitta get neon next!!!

Malleable

I wanted to like this, as I love Black Opium and The Only One, but on my skin there is some bitter/sour note that I just can't get past.

Lauren528

I win a bottle at the ebay auction and I just got it today. I still think this is by far the best blend of all the black opiums. I dont think its quite as nice as the only one but I love it too!

glitterbebs

I'm genuinely not sure where somebody heard its being discontinued, after extensive research I could find no evidence to say its no longer in production. Its still listed on YSLs official website. Either way I've fallen in love!

EmmaKirstine

So I never bought the original Black Opium, even though I liked the scent. The reviews overall gave me a picture of pour lasting power, so I decided quickly to save my money.

THEN I saw the reviews for this one, and I was tempted. I like the scent, very wearable, not as sweet as the original, but that is fine with me. This one is better for spring and summer.

The opening is very similar to Paco Rabannes Olympea, not that it's a bad thing, but it was my first thought. Salty freshness with caramel. It changed quite quickly with the dry down, and reminded me extremely of D&Gs The Only One, but not quite as strong as that one, even though I love it, and keep a 100 ml of it in my everyday drawer. If you like a coffee scented perfume, this is your friend <3

My bottom line is, this is a great scent, if you like D&G The Only One, but if you already got it, you don't need this. This has an extra mild flower note to it, if you stick your nose into it, but really seem the same.

Lasting power is alright, not a powerhouse like D&G The Only One. But after the 10hr mark, I can still detect it if I press my nose into my sleeve.

YesVeruca

This is like a Tootsie Pop of perfume. It starts like regular BO with the sweet coffee note and fruit and musk but then that leaves and the white flowers come out. And they really do-I was doubtful something so light could come after the sweet heavy opening- but they really do shine through and poof -it’s a white floral. Longevity and siillage MIGHT be slightly stronger than regular BO. I somehow feel like they created this for BO devotees to wear in the Spring and Summer when the regular or Nuit Blanche may feel too heavy and I’ve read this has been discontinued and replaced with BO Neon -but I do not have than one so I cannot compare.

Siv7Stars

I've had Black Opium & Nuit Blanche before as well. I find this one unexpectedly similar to Tom Ford's Eau de Soleil Blanche (once the top notes are gone) and also Loewe's Aura White Magnolia. Honestly all three are interchangeable really. They all have an odd threat of plastic at certain times but it isn't unpleasant (I normally loathe plasticky notes), they all very sweet gourmand white flower concoctions. This is the current scent zeitgeist apparently. I'm sure I've smelled others similar as well. Valentino Born in Roma is cut from this cloth too.

km1266

I am genuinely heartbroken that this is being discontinued. The original Black Opium is lovely, but this is on another level. You can smell the coffee, but you can also smell the fruity notes - when I first read the notes, I didn't think it would be an apt combination but I was very wrong. It's suitable for all seasons.

It's not really that different from the original, but the fruity notes makes it even better.

One of the most beautiful and unique fragrances I have ever smelt, I am certainly going to go out of my way to get a dupe.

Edit: As much I love the scent, the longevity is nowhere near as impressive as the original, which lingered on my clothes for ages.

10/10 for scent
5/10 for longevity

Liliya Krasimirova

My favorite fragrance! I LOVE "Black Opium Floral SHOCK"!!!

Sreza7

I am so glad I did not buy a bottle of this. It seems ok, but I think it would smell better in the summer time. I will have to try again in warmer weather.
It starts off but smelling a lot like the original black opium. It’s lighter and lemony. The lemon stays for most of the time. It’s also very musky or smoky.

drawingmaniac35

I was in search of a new winter scent (even though many people suggest this is for the warmer weather, it is a little too much for me when the temperature is higher). My best friend and my boyfriend sniffed this and mutually decided instead of me that this is the one. Honestly I have never been happier about letting someone else chose my scent for me-I adore this. It is a juicy white floral, sweetened by an amazing pear note that seems to work perfectly well with my skin. The longevity isn't extraordinary but I don't mind topping it off after about 4 hours.

Minty Mouth

I admit the main reason I bought it was because of the bottle... The glitter-to-pink ombré is stunning!

But I knew the juice was pretty, too. Y'know what? The more I wear it, the more I like it! I thought it was a bit too sweet at first, and didn't think I could wear it often, but when you get used to it it has a gentle pâtisserie softness. Loving it!

trillav

My favorite fragrance of ALL time. I have ALL the niche perfumes...designer ones...small ones...big ones...literally I've smelled thousands and owned hundreds...bottles that cost £600+...I always come back to this. The first time I spelled it in the airport, I HAD to know what it was...I bought a bottle straight away. IMO this is one of the best fragrances ever created...it rivals BR540 easily. It lasts for days and days, it's one of the strongest I own. Just delicious, sparkling...not too sweet or cloying at all...more radiant and fizzy. Truly divine. I have 3 back up bottles. This is OUTSTANDING...not plain...simple..boring..it's EXTRAORDINARY to my nose. I don't understand the reviews that say it's nothing new..boring....I genuinely think they must be smelling something different. This is glorious, uplifting, loud, feminine, sparky....simply exquisite.

SailorV

This is neither shocking, nor very floral, but it's a great flanker to Black Opium that keeps the original's DNA while still being distinguishable from it.
It's very fruity and lighter than the EDP, the main note is juicy crisp pear. Instead of becoming vanillic and heavy, it keeps the freshness all through the drydown. The image it evokes for me is eating two scoops of ice cream, one pear, one coffee, on a clear spring day in a park in the city, sitting by a lake with some flowers blooming. I really enjoy when fragrances cause this sweet and cold ice-cream like sensation.
Because it's so focussed on the top notes, Floral Shock is rather linear and softens quickly after the first blast. It smells a little synthetic but I don't mind, I think it's intentional in this case.

I don't think this is similar to D&G The Only One. Yes, that one smells like it could be a Black Opium flanker, but not like Floral Shock.

Tried this yesterday on my skin along with original black opium.
Nice opening, kind of fruity, non offensive, but after some time it felt like very generic, but as longer it developed on my wrist, better it was, like flowery- fruity one with just some coffee- sugary note, longevity on skin felt enormous, could feel it next day, then it was on the nicest! While original faded quickly away, this kept on developing! Really interesting, i guess should try this more to see how this reacts with me. Non offensive, for sure crowd pleaser. I am not into very sweet scent but sometimes just nice to have on something easy to wear and enjoy.

Ninasknows

Nice but kind of generic. Reminds me of la vie est belle. Love the bottle!

globato85

I think this is a really nice gourmand. Not heavy. Sweet but not overly so. Sadly this only lasts a couple hours on me. I still really enjoy it but I won't buy another bottle.

apple_melon

On my skin the most prominent note is the amber, I’m smiling happily cuz now I’m smelling like a yummy toffee

Well, it took me a long time to admit that I really want this scent.

(Sorry for the rant fallowing, you can skip it to get to the scent resume in the second paragraph)

Mostly because I've been holding a grudge on YSL for quitting the Paris printemps -line and finding the new L'Oreal owned YSL directed only to twenty-somethings. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the twenty-somethings, just that the whole merketing of the brand is directed to this particular group. (If you compare with other big brands such as Dior-Charlize Theron, Armani-Cate Blanchet, etc. there _is_ a difference)I've also heard a crazy rumour about YSL dropping the La Collection line (!) ...another reason to hold a grudge on this "new" Saint Laurent brand... As for the Black Opium line, I found the ads with the pale model in a black wig... well, not edgy, but something alike to plain puerile...

But as it is, I have fallen for this scent! Its fresh; the pear and the freesia really shine through (!), its delicious; there is the BO signature coffee note and there is the lovely lovely lovely comforting amroxan base. The sillage is better on clothing (/hair) than on skin. The longevity could be a bit better (more the longevity of an eau de toilette than an eau de parfum). There is also something joyous about the scent, I think is the solar note combjned with the florals, it makes you think of springtime sunshine... just like having a coffee at some newly opened terrace and feeling the warmth of the sun after a looooong winter.

If you are a floral lover but looking for something sweet to get you through the cold winter, try this! Dreamy!

I thought I would love this, given that I adore Black Opium and thought Nuight Blanche was a good extension of the line. Alas, this one smelt synthetical, cloying and headache inducing. They tried to match a fresh flower scent with a sweet warm vanilla-scent and the two are still clashing for the upperhand when you spray it. When it wears down, it gets better, but only because a couple of the notes disappear.
Black Opium is a present perfume, which I mostly liked because it keeps smelling as it does the second you spray it. You don't lose any of the notes you love at the beginning and it sticks with you until the end of the day. This one develops, and I can't get over at how poorly it's been blended. The notes don't go together and the chemicalness of the flowers makes it smell cheaper than it is. Yves Saint Laurent has lovely flower scents so just use those if you're in want of some florals, and if you want a warm scent, use the other Black Opiums. Or combine BO with a flowerscent, they could be a great cocktail, but I'm going to skip this one.
It would have been great if this one worked out, alas.

ReWeegh

Fresher, flowery version of the original Black Opium. I prefer this one than the original. BO Floral shock is much more delicate, elegant and less suffocating, and still has the amazing creamy-pear-coffee combo. I get more pear here (note that I love), the freesia and gardenia notes are also lovely. Huge plus: no patchouli! That note was too dominant for me (or only on me?) in BO.
Longevity 5-6 hours on skin, days on fabric.

ClEL

@ pinkmuzic You are not alone. None last on me either. It only lasts on clothing.

pinkmuzic

WOW! I just got my 90ml bought on Ebay for a great deal! I WAS SO EXITED to smell this BAD BOY! I really love the fisrt spray & then.... I don't know what is happening I kind of lsot the scent... GONE! heu...... NO... I want that coffee flower amber HIGH QUALITY PERFUM :(
MAYBE IT'S ME!!!! I had the same experience with BLACK OPIUM EDP I craved this vanilla coffee scent but.. they almost desapear immediately on my skin....
O_O I never had this experience with perfumes before & believe me I have TONS see my collection BDW... I'm open for swaps if you guys see anything you'd like to propose ^_^
Lets get back to this BAD BOY!! YSL Black Opium & Black opium flower shock... sadddly not for me for the price I prefer having something I actually smell even tho there some small drafts here & there sometimes but nothing that worth this price tag :) to Bad I love vanilla & coffee together

Phantosmia Bella

The fruity-pear version of Black Opium.
Less coffee, less caramel, more of a pear centered scent.
I also get something like a slight mocha note and some general "white flowers" notes, with a nice if somewhat artificial gardenia.
Compared with D&G The Only One, this is more fruity and a little more screechy, but you get the resemblance.
All in all - a nice scent and a very long lasting one.

nadiadncr

Got some samples from the BOFS and at first sniff I was impressed it gave me that coffee note with some freshness that the original lacks. I was delighted ready to order the full bottle which I might add you can only find on ebay. Fast forward 30 minutes later and it's an identical smell like Mon Paris couture. So disappointing...looks like I'm not going to order the full bottle after all....

Fa

every time I wear it I get asked about it, to me it smells like a garden, very floral and feminine and I was glad I cant smell the citrus notes in it, the entire black opium family is great, to me the original is for winter and floral shock is for summer, might be too much for some people but it doesnt smell that heavy on me.

ginchuginchu

The scent of glow and radiance.

She is the kind of girl who know how to say "no" whilst smile charmingly. She is the kind of girl who work hard to get what she want, but know how to flirt with life along the way. She knows how to make her own name in a big boys world, without losing her sweetness. She hustle, without being overpowering. She taking it all in a stride, without losing her definitive femininity.

Among the crowd, she glows, basking in sweetness of life has to offer.

BringUsAShrubbery

I smell artificial pear, but in the best way. It is bright and fizzy. I tried it on in the store and I was wracking my olfactive memory to figure out what it reminded me of. Once I came here to see the notes list, I realized - it smells like Jelly Belly pear jelly beans! I love those, and so I love this fragrance. There is something creamy under the pear, which I smell more as it dries down. Overall, I find this lovely, but I cannot rate how it compares to the original, as I've never tested it.

FreyaO

I received this perfume the other day for my birthday from my boyfriend. I have been eyeing it up for a few months now and absolutely love it. some people say they cannot smell the coffee but to me this is very coffee.
the main notes I can smell from first spray to 7 hours later are coffee, bergamot, gardenia and orange blossom. the fruity pear is very light or not noticeable to me, this is a true floral version of the original which is too heavy for me.

if you find the original too heavy or sweet and you enjoy florals you will like this.

mapache

First of all...I L-O-V-E Black Opium EDP....and love the BO EDT version...and really "like" the BO Nuit Blanche version. Floral Shock IS different than the others..although still "underneath" is the DNA of the .other Black Opium family. Yes...I get more floral in this one, but the florals are nicely done. The first minutes come off florally...then the original DNA pulls through. I am happy to own this flanker...so far..so good.

AllHalliwellsEve

I wasn't digging the first Black Opium, it was just way too strong for me. I really wanted to love at least one from the Black Opium line, so I tested and bought Black Opium Nuit Blanche, which was a definite love. *That drydown though* I think it's better than the first, not so in your face and headache inducing. But then it happened after months of watching reviews on youtube, and seeing what everyone has said about floral shock on here, I was in the store and I got a little sample of this one. This is exactly what I was expecting the first one to be. It's a masterpiece imo. SO addicting, downright heavenly.. I absolutely LOVE IT, and the whole "iced coffee" aspect, oh my! I'm so happy they decided to add the flower notes into this, and that pear, oh that beautiful, candied pear! I love the creaminess that I get from this perfume, and it's throughout the whole top, mid and base. When I wear this it feels so snuggly, comforting, but still has that freshness and vitality due to the flowers and fruit. Gorgeous bottle too. Hopefully this flanker will work out better for the hot and humid weather which is soon to come here in Canada.

maria.rodríguez.cruz

@ Rockstarrrshade They are two different fragrances. Black opium is the original formula and Flower shock is a flanker of regular Black opium. Hope it helps!

rockstarrshade

can somebody please explain why on some bottles is written "floral shock" and why on some there isnt anything like that only "black opium" thank you

magdalena81.1

Nothing special. Don´t smell bad but I expected more than a generic scent. Nice looking bottle.

Fleur divina

This is a pretty nice scent but not really the floral blast that it should be named Floral Shock. Different to the original Black Opium which has more prominent coffee note than this one. This is fresher than the original and can be used in summer. Lasts just a few hours on my skin.

PaulieDoodle

Been wearing this beauty now for three day's in a row (morning to night) & giving it a really good try out!! & O my goodness, I really do like/love it!! & Yes it's A Floral Shock when you first spray it on your skin!! I Have been asked now seven times by family/friends & two complete strangers what I was wearing which does make you feel very good & special!! & today while visiting my Mum & leaning over to give her her usual kiss,& she asked mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm what's that gorgeous smell your wearing today,as it's a really lovely smell!! Mother's never lie!! I deffo find this softer & more greener/fresher than the Original Black Opium,& this one has a twist of beautiful light white fluffy flowers & yet it's not over powering or over bearing with them being present!! I can deffo understand someone saying Iced Coffee type smell/aroma to this one,& let me add the word aromatic in it's structure!! "Black Opium - Fresh Ground Creamy Coffee" "Black Opium Night Blanche - Slightly more sweeter/softer/lighter/Pink Pepper & more milkier" "Black Opium Floral Shock - Iced Coffee/Greener-Fresher/Lemon/Lime Blossom/Aromatic/Soft White Floral/Velvety/Classy-Refined/& Wears Beautifully on your skin"!! So there's definitely a Black Opium for everyone!! The three New Black Opium Sister's!! I Still don't understand why that YSL decided to discontinue "Belle d Opium" (Beautiful Opium) as I honestly thought it was absolutely stunning & really did compliment the Original Opium (Warm & Spicy Yet Classy) & it would have fitted in with the New Black Opium Sister's also!! Even it's bottle was absolutely stunning!! I would have said that "Belle d Opium" was the Oriental Sister in the Opium line up!! Think of the James Bond Movie "Skyfall" where Bond is seen on a small boat going into a Gambling Den etc!!

mattin5

just spray tested it, I can feel the bergamot, the pear and coffee I think, but I must say nothing impressive. On my skin just a regular ordinary scent, nothing wow. Wouldn't describe it as a 'floral shock' for sure, actually not a floral one at all.

jovejove

The only one since the original that lasts on your skin

lmwimsatt

Respledent, I totally agree w u that this has the same character as pure poison and that character is sexy tough 80s woman

charlie.aeroplane

I really enjoy this, its so sheer, assertive sweet freshness in a glowing way, like those girls who after partying hard all night in the morning they look like new from the box with the makeup on fleek and bright skin and eyes. I can't help not to see Nina Jojovich incarnation of this being her everyday perfume. I can see this being worn by a badass girl that in spite of her confidence and city smartness has a sensual feminity deep inside.
By the way, I find Black Opium the original being plane and uninspiring at all.

cocolover56

This one sort of annoys me. I quite like the original Black Opium, although I'd probably never buy it or wear it with the serious intent of feeling cool or good in any real way. As totally ridiculous and pretentious as that sounds, Black Opium isn't individual enough to make anyone feel as though they're the only one. Bad to admit, but sometimes being an individual is sometimes really fun.

Anyway, this one is definitely a juicy pear scent. I normally like juicy pear, but apparently not today because I barely like this. It's really questionable if this really fits in with the fragrance because, to me, it smells like a really sweaty girl who's just emerged from a club and is gnashing her teeth (if ya know what I mean) who drenched herself from head to toe in a super cheap scent. I don't know what it is about this one that just annoys me.

Yeah, there's flowers... so what next? Is that pear the shock? If you put potato in there, I'd be more shocked because at least that produces electricity and, thus, could actually shock someone.

Very unusual. I probably just don't get it, to be honest. I have 2 samples of it. Maybe I'll grow to love it, who knows. More ... 'Shock'-ing things have happened.

zane-zane

Usually I go for the light floral/fruity perfumes. I tried it accidentally and bought it right away. It is sweet, but it is floral as well. The sweetness is not so intensive (not the one that could cause headache). It last very, very long. It`s very good for winter.
This perfume reminds me a bit of Loverdose Tattoo Diesel for women and also Boss Intense Hugo Boss for women.

FairyDuff

Initial spray gives a delicious floral cloud.

Soon after the pear note works through - and stays until you can detect little else.

For springtime.

For the subtle types.

Still waiting for the 'shock'

lmwimsatt

I hate black opium but adore this absolutely

Edemay

Oh my this did surprise me I was expecting something very similar to the original but this is quite different in a great way!
At first I got an interesting candied pear smell, that dies down instantly.
Creamy white florals with hint of coffee in the back and powdery musk.
The florals in this really makes this special and I can't wait to try it again.
Also thought i should add for me this is one of those scents you find really hard to smell on yourself, but others can still smell it strongly on you.

katemax

when I first sprayed this on I got a disgusting indolic note which made me hate it. however once the scent had dried down this note vanished and I was left with a sweeter more powdery version of black opium. so its a like after all!

majdmery

I like it more than the original, it has some nice fresh juicy notes .. We can wear it in spring and maybe summer nights .. However, its longevity is bad, it may last 03 hours on me and projection is weak .. But it's worth trying ..

valeria_ardiyants

The minute I smelled this, I knew it was a perfume full of a lot of different notes. To me, it smelled like a sugary musk. I can really smell the pear, gardenias and base notes. I'm not sure if I'm in love with this smell in spite of the recent popularity of this line. I don't find it unique. It smells like "just another nice perfume" to me. The other issue is that I can't think of an occasion for it. Maybe a fall evening? I certainly wouldn't wear it in the spring or summer as it's way too musky. It smells too warm for the winter. The way I see it is it's trying to be too versatile to the point where it doesn't fit anything. When I wore it, it was all I could smell. It literally overpowered every other scent around me. Having said that, between the time I sprayed it on in the store and having gotten home within the hour...it completely wore off. It's "nice" but it's not a perfume I see myself paying for.

milk_in

Yummy gourmand with freshness of flowers and fruits. Like a tiramisu with pear on top and white flowers as ornaments..
It's little bit confusing how dark and fresh it is at the same time. And funny how those solar notes blend in nicely! Maybe this tiramisu is served at sunny terrace ;D

Bubblez

Very disappointed with this blind buy. I thought I would love this because people mentioned how similar it is to the original, but I really dislike it. This really saddens me to say but I don't think my nose has ever been more offended! It smells nothing like the original, at least on my skin. This just smells dirty and absolutely no sweetness at all. I wish I could explain exactly what I'm smelling but every time I try to sniff my wrist my nose instantly shrivels and the only word that comes to mind is "dirty". Maybe I got a bad bottle? Either way it's going right back to the store! I'm going to try a tester in store and see if I get the same results. This absolutely breaks my heart because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the original.
Not a safe blind buy.

dovey

I am surprised there is no strawberry or raspberry notes mentioned !!

This should have been an edition to Mon Paris

It's amazingly done

Still got that distinct coffee notes u can't find in any other perfume but this time in an ice coffee with a drop of bubble gum chypre fruity edge

itssarakang

I don't understand how this could get any bad review, this smells SO good and I'm really hoping that they end up making this a permanent scent! I do think that this one smells different enough from the original Black Opium for it to be worth getting. I constantly need to restrain myself from spraying this even when I'm just at home. I like that the coffee notes in this aren't as intense as the original so it's more day-time appropriate but this is pretty sexy to wear at night too.

raiza1990

This one is slightly more floral than the original, but nothing i would call a floral shock. It is actually very sweet, almost cloying. If you're expecting a green, light floral fragrance with coffee, you will be disappointed.
If you already own one from the Black Opium serie, i do not recommend buying this, because it is not different enough to justify having it. If you want a lighter Black Opium, than this is the one for you. If you're looking for a floral coffee fragrance, then try the EDT.
Overall, it is a nice fragrance for gourmand lovers. Great sillage and longevity. I think i even like it more than the original.

aliciacb828

Got this perfume as a sample today and i feel like it's another let down from yves saint laurent. I didn't like black opium in the beginning and then it grew on me, now I can't stand it again as it's very mishmashed, heavy and almost allergy inducing. Floral shock really is no better. I'm not going to bother going into notes, all black opium flankers smell and wear exactly the same on me, this one started off a little more floral and less mishmashed nighttime coffee scent.
After a few minutes however it was back to typical black opium hell just slightly lighter and more summerish. This is the best flanker I've smelt from ysl just because the notes blend together nicer and aren't as harsh on your nose, if I had to choose between this and the original it would be this but I wouldn't buy this full size and I wouldn't get the original EDP again either.

iamoir

Floral Shock has two similarities with Black Opium: the coffee notes and the pear. The pear is very prominent in the drydown before the perfume totally disappears from the skin, because unfortunately it's not a long lasting scent. Too pity. Before that it's mostly orange blossom dipped in dark coffee-like chocolate, and that's really distinct and creative!

There is potential in here as regards the scent itself but YSL chose not to rely on a flanker and "just release something", like how stupid is that? It needs more potency, more lasting power and a bit more sillage and it will be perfect! For some reason creative minds in YSL think that Black Opium is THE PERFUME, when it's nothing more than a mishmash gourmand, advertised on each and every girly girl perfume collection YouTube video as holy grail fragrance, becoming all the more BASIC because of it!

Yet, here in Floral Shock, they already created an interesting pairing of notes, which is unfinished, not enough. You have floral and shock: the shock is the coffee notes, maybe more of those? Maybe some bitter chocolate notes as well? You went there with coffee, why not pushing it a bit more? More floral, a more biting orange blossom; orange blossom is sweet but with a bite, why not try to emulate the aroma of them at night? After all, it's Black Opium Floral Shock! Like wtf YSL?

FragranceFinder

From a man's perspective, this is sexy stuff. Black Opium is one of the most heavenly scents I think a woman can wear. This ones goes in a different direction - a more floral direction, obviously, and more mainstream than its big sister. The coffee note falls more silent and gives room to a strong pear and white flower note. Still, you can definitely tell that Black Opium and this belong in the same family.

I prefer this to La Vie Est Belle, which I think is a tad similar. Don't know about the performance as I don't wear this myself.

Minnie02

I don't think this one is for me. I love both Black Opium and Nuit Blanche but this one is a bit of a let down. It does smell okay, nothing really wrong with it. It's very light and kind of citrusy, which I guess is good for summer.

On the dry down, if you really stick your nose in it, you might detect a faint memory of Black Opium, but on me, the citrus is the most recognizable note throughout. Not sure what the actual floral shock is all about...

If you're into light citrus scents and not a big fan of the original Black Opium, you will probably like this one.

COSMICSCENTS

Masterpiece! I smelled this last night and was surprised on how good it smelled. I tried all the other editions and the other ones after the initial spray had a weird note that I did not enjoy very much, but this one is a different story.
There is a happy smell to it, a mix between floral, fruity and fresh all together in harmony. Beautiful bottle also:)

Tovah

For some reason I still haven't purchased a bottle of Black Opium. I've used up many little sample bottles of it, and I adore it. I meant to buy Black Opium, finally, after wanting it for a couple of years now, but I accidentally purchased Black Opium Floral Shock. It's a happy mistake, because this is a terrific fragrance for the incoming summer heat! Floral Shock is what I think of as Summer Black Opium. It's quite a bit lighter and less sweet the original. Black Opium Floral Shock is not what I would have named this, because it's more "fresh" than "floral". There are floral notes, but they aren't showcased, (on my skin anyways). The first impression my nose detects is an ozoney scent that reminds me of beach air and sand...NOT sunscreen in the least. It's an elemental aroma, that connotes the aura of summertime. When I concentrate after this "aura", lemon is the only concrete note I can identify. Overall, I smell Black Opium; light-lemon Black Opium. It's irresistible. The downside to Floral Shock is the lasting power, and the overall effect of the fragrance is way more subtle than Black Opium (which is rather subtle to begin with). I spray a lot of my Floral Shock, while crossing my fingers that my perception of its daintiness is not the result of an ingredient to which I am anosmatic. If this is the case, I may be asphyxiating every living thing in my neighborhood. Undeniably, Floral Shock is an offspring of the beautiful Black Opium, so if you love Black Opium, you're going to love this. Something about it reminds me of Cinema.

ladenu

Floral? if there is any, I really cant smell. But i like it anyway. It fits perfect for summer. This smells like fruity iced drink and bubble gum to me. Refreshing and pretty.

Eaugirlspirit

This I ordered a sample of and tested today. On first spray my husband recoiled in horror "What did you spray?" I'm guessing this doesn't sit well upon first application but that you have to let it settle.
And so I did, and I kept getting familiar whiffs of...I finally realized, Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina! This smells a lot like that perfume on my skin. Don't get my wrong, it's great and all- but it's been done before. I don't like investing in fragrances that are smell alikes unless they become dupes for discontinued gems. Pleasant enough but I will stick to the Original. However, still wanting to test Nuit Blanche...

lmwimsatt

this is hands down. or of the best perfumes around. I hate to say I can't distinguish it from the original. I like to get an alternative flanker when it rivals the original because I like to be unique. so I chose this one hoping no one I knew would have it

bvn1

Just a sweet fruity floral. The solar notes are coming out as hot/melting plastic or the smell when a hairdryer over heats!

mendwillie

Beautiful mix of pear with freesia and something sensual hot, that scent delight, I love original black opium and this version is also very nice and special, yes I love it.

I evaluate this:
Smell: 9/10
Projection: 8.5/10
Longevity: 8.5/10

mmm_331

one of the worst in the opium line -- the original opium is still the best out of the bunch

LoreleiBluebird

It's nice, it's a bit greener than the original and Nuit Blanche (which I love).
But it's not greener or lighter or more floral enough to really constitute being touted as anything summery or fresh. It's just not that different.
And it bears no resemblance to Poison Girl.
I'm bored now.

Impe60

Didn´t find this fresh at all. First smell was of an old lady and the drydown was just powder. No, I stick to the original

SaraWhiteWaterlily89

Horrible, the worst perfume I have ever smelt.
I wanted to throw up (vomit).

MrsTefee

This is a beautiful fragrance! Its blended so well, its creamy and smooth with some nice zing to it, just like an iced coffee! Floral, on the sweet side but not candy sweet. I actually think its going to be perfect for spring and summer, a little too light for winter in my opinion (at least in my area where it gets below freezing!), but still wearable all year round in general. Not cloying, not loud, its light and refreshing so would do well for work or school environments as well as going out! : )

*EDIT* Im really liking this more and more! I actually love how light it is on the skin (i prefer scents that stay close to the skin rather than having a ton of sillage) It settles into a really beautiful sweet skin musk, I love how its sweet but not typical candy sweet like viva la juicy or victoria's secret scents its a creamy floral sweet that lingers on the skin in a beautiful way. This is quickly becoming one of my top 5 I think ;) Love this! I feel like two sprays on the chest area and 1 spray for each arm/wrist is perfect for me.

MaiCecile

Like knotslandinggirl, possibly the only Opium I've liked- the flowers and pear make it so interesting! I'm partial to those two notes, but this is much deeper than my usual pear-floral loves. Complex and unique.

Shwets

A diluted and disappointing version of the original. ..

knotslandinggirl

Where shall I start with this little black beauty?

Yes,I tried original black opium, and yes I wore it and wore it to try and fall in love with it,but alas,I could not.

However on first use of using floral shock I instantly loved it, and i was surprise.

Then it dawned on me,this fragrance has no vanilla, where as the original has vanilla, and on me it was just way too cloying within vanilla!

On first applying this I get the pear and citrus, with the freesia, wow it is quite shocking I can see why it is called shock!

Then I get the coffee note with the gardenia,in the heart, and this I have to add is pure heaven......the heart lingers and lingers and the projection of that coffee note with the florals and gardenia is absolutely breathtaking....well it is for me,and I am a BIG lover of white flowers and gardenia!

The base finally comes through with the woody notes and musk, however it is minimal I would say,as the florals and coffee dance all through this beauty.

If you think it will be like Black opium, then think again, this is on another level and even ias a flanker I would categorise this as a separate stand alone perfume.

If you love sweet florals, but delecate florals with arm length projection and a good 5 hours staying power you will love it.
If you prefer the vanilla vibe with tonkabean sweetness alas you will not.

For me I LOVE it,and finally can add a Black opium fragrance to my wardrobe for a day or night perfume......beautiful....

PaulieDoodle

Just got a free sample from YSL direct & I'm actually wearing Black Opium Floral Shock right now as I type this out!! & Guess what? I absolutely love it!! It's definitely more fresher & greener than both the original Black Opium & Nuit Blanche!! & most certainly not as sweet which is a really good thing!! My Mum was the very first person to smell this on me,& Mum's NEVER lie!! & she said "gosh don't you smell really lovely"!! & When I told her it's the new Black Opium Floral Shock, she said "mmmmmmmmmmmm I would wear it myself!! I really like it!! So I definitely think YSL just might be onto a winner here!! Why did YSL ever discontinue their Belle D'Opium? as I really loved it as I do with all the Opium line!! Please YSL bring back Belle D'Opium to complete the Opium range!! 10/10 for the new Black Opium Floral Shock which I will now be purchasing!! Xx

Berta15

So,I have mixed feelings!First of all I absolutely love it,it´s lot more fresher than the original(which I adore).
I was sooo exited when I opened the box,and take out this beautiful bottle.
The opeing was soo juicy, fresh, energising there was lot of pear mixed with lime.It was sweet but like a fresh fruity juice. When the heart notes start to develop I smell mostly orange-flower mixed with the pear and there was the coffee but not as prominent as in the "mother scent".I hardly detect some of the listed flowers, because there was something else,I don´t know what is it,it´s like a plastic smell or something genereic something burned plastic(maybe the solar notes???).And yes, maybe there is the gardenia but it´s not like a real gardenia smell,it´s not centered around this flower. It´s like a more fresher, fruitier version with just a hint of floral undertone. After a while the coffee note started to be more intensive but it was very pleasant smell. The best part was the dry down(with the opening),and I absolutely love it.But sadly it´s not like a "floral bomb" with coffee, but nevermind.
I love it too.I recommend for those who think black opium edp was too much and sweet, this is a watered down version this is Black Opium eau Fruiteé.
Pleasant, lovely, joyful scent for spring, fall maybe for a cold summer night. The longevity is actually good and the sillage too.
And how it say the advertising it´s more fresher with green aromas and with iced-coffee accord - I totally agree

Tintin Parfumeur

waw il y a une très grosse note de fleurs avec la résine
le départ sent pareille que le 1er mais après 1 heure il n'y à pas du tout la même facette sucrée café , poire
on ne sent que la résine et les notes solaires . Je préfère de loin le premier black opium

singlebilingual

I love Black Opium but this flanker is nothing new, smells to me like a copy of Poison Girl.

Miss X

I tested this 4 hours ago and I can still smell it in my wrist.
I own the original Black Opium and this one is quite similar, but not that sweet. I find this a little bit more elegant, more flowery (gardenia).
It's warm, the "solar note" could be just the mix of soft vanilla+gardenia? If someone is wondering, it doesn't smell like suntan lotion.

Anyway, it's a beautiful smell, much nicer than the original I think, which it's too sweet, cloying and somewhat smoky. I really like this one, it's easier to wear, easier to please and in the drydown has no spices, resins, nor woods, it's just feminine creamy sweet flowers (vanilla+hint of caramel/coffee+gardenia) from the beginning to the end. It's the natural evolution from the original Black Opium, although this flanker has no "Opium" concept at all!

Arlene-Beatrix

Top notes are really nice, but after that, it is just a coffee centered scent. Not much improvement since the first Black Opium. There are some flowers in this composition, but it's overstatement to call it Floral Shock.

Miss LaCreevy

I like to drink strong black coffee together with a glass of lemonwater. Wait and see how this will be together in a perfume.
Solar notes????

jana.hullinghorst

In Columbia, coffee is traditionally served with a squeeze of citrus. It adds a freshness to the complexity of the coffee. I wonder about this whole "iced coffee" thing. I LOVE iced coffee, and in fact the coldness makes it even more bitter than hot coffee.. Does this scent portray that bitterness associated with iced coffee? If it does, I can't see how that would be a positive.

All the marketing I'm seeing is calling this "the Shock", not "Floral Shock". Interested to see the accuracy.

I am a bit puzzled with that one, it is overall rather sweet, and I was wondering when the florals would appear...there is a sharpness in the heart, I suspect the gardenia and the citrus it is very much like the other flankers, like I don't smell a significant difference , maybe the brightness in the top notes, but right away it is a sweet gourmand...nice, but when you own the edt, or Nuit Blanche, like I do, Shock isn't necessarily one you need!?
The sharpness bugs me, a bit headache inducing, might be the citrus on top of it...so it is nice, really smells pretty, but a flanker that really didnt bring anything new...I can't tell the difference with edt, so similar.
Then longevity is far from good.
As far as the solar notes are concerned, i can't detect them....this is more a sweet citrusy floral to my nose..just frustrated with this one !!
I will add YSL should retire the Black opium, that flanker didn't need to be.
I rarely feel that way, but I think I wasted my money on that one as I have the other flankers already,
But for lovers of citrus florals with hint of sweet , might be worth checking out .

Ok, what the heck is the solar note? How does sunshine smell?
As for the perfume- it is nice, vanilla-y, with a note of rose or citrus or something slightly sour, which is perfectly blended with overall sweetness. While I am not a very big fan of the original perfume (too sweet for me), I love this new one.

I just received the marketing for this. Should be out before Valentines Day in Canada. $110 for 50ml, $140 for 100ml. I'm interested to smell it ☺️

My grandma used to have her coffee with lemon!!! so for me this is a no brainer!! I can't wait to test it.

tru4reele

Lemon and coffee? Sounds horrible but can't wait to test.

I will buy it because i love the Black opium fragrance range but why do they keep making fresher versions of the fragrance why not make a black opium intense .

This actually sounds like one I might wear!

Nice!!! The solar note is becoming more popular , I have seen it a few times now.
Interesting twist of a spring summer version. Something to look forward too after wearing the original all winter. I still love the original. It's awesome !

Interesting notes. A refreshing gourmand? Something different and lighter for summer than the original which I love but find way too cloying in our 40°C heat. Gorgeous bottle too. Hopefully this summer flanker will work out better for our hot and humid weather.
