bruby15
Orange blossom and a bit of citrus , this is what I smell. I cannot smell the lavender at all. Moderate silage and longevity for the price. Smells a bit like tea, very delicate and feminine and I do not feel like is dated unless you consider the current fruity jam smells that come from every young woman these days, modern.
To me is a day perfume and good for office or any other day activity.
chunkymunki
This is my signature scent and has been for about 4+ years now. I love vanilla scents and always thought this was such a nice and complex vanilla, the citrus really gives it that extra something and the florals aswell, such nice florals and I usually don’t like floral scents but this is the exception for me. I didn’t even realise it was quite a floral dominant scent when I first started wearing it, but I absolutely love this . The longevity is amazing and silage is great aswell. I always get so many compliments and asking what I’m wearing, and people know me for this fragrance now. Highly recommend! Love love just wish it was so expensive!

Libre in my opinion smells like a perfume a grandmother would wear and is very dated. I did a blind test for multiple people and they all agreed that it smells like the old perfumes in 90s magazines and said that they liked it least comapred to the other perfumes in the blind test ( tested La vie est belle, Gucci Flora Magnolia, Mugler Alien, Versace Rose). I have not tried Libre Intense, however the scent of Libre leaves me uninterested in the Libre collection. It is def not a crowd pleaser or a safe blind buy since it is very masculine and has the potential to be unisex. Men do not like this perfume, as I have asked multiple and they prefered sweeter and fruiter scents over this one. I would have to agree and say this scent is masculine, out dated, and forgettable. However, it does have lasting power and has a moderate to strong sillage, but that is expected for the price. I would not wear this to run errands or to the office, it is very overbearing.
Ayshin
Lavender and vanilla notes very prominent in this fragrance on my skin. Lovely scent but i don't reach for it that often. Beast longetivity on my skin. I don't get the jasmine note tho. Still looking for my perfect lavender
jazzyjuice
this perfume is for the cool girls. girls who get flocked to when they enter the room. confident girls who know what they want. dua lipa is the PERFECT face for libre, she fits the vibe to a T. the black currant, jasmine, and musk mix so perfectly to make a fragrance with great projection and an enchanting energy perfect for any time of day.

immmetlt smell the orange and lavender it just smells gorss and strong and grandma like it made me sneeze
franxx64
a very warm and soft perfume that would be great for every day in the office or just running errands- a crowd pleaser 100%. it definitely has some sort of masculine undertone to it. has the potential to be cloying but i really like how this smelt on me
beigepoudre
To me, it smells like a delicate lavender and orange blossom dessert, a little bit salty but still vanillic. There is hot tea on the table too.
It’s a combination of fresh and inviting feminity.
Very elegant.
I received a miniature when I ordered Babycat. I must admit I was afraid to smell Libre, I’m glad i gave it a try, this is lovely and addictive.

Libre is a classic example of something very popular that is actually deserving of the hype. The first time I tried Libre, admittedly I didn't care for it. White florals can read as overly mature, which was my first impression. It is definitely a little mature, in the sense that I can't imagine a teenager wearing it. It's a "21+" perfume as opposed to a grandma perfume. Lavender is one of the most prominent notes listed but to me, the citrus and orange blossom take center stage, with jasmine taking second place and lavender playing a background role. Several comments below say it is "masculine" which I don't get at all. It all blends together perfectly, and dries down to a mix of white florals and warm vanilla. The cherry on top is that the longevity and projection are borderline beast mode. This isn't a safe blind buy but I am glad I sampled it and will be adding it to my collection ASAP.

It smells like money (dirty coins)
Kitmarin08
Love this. Slightly masculine. The vanilla is not cloying and the lavender is beautifully fresh. It is sexy, airy, and the silage is GORGEOUS. It is one of those scents where I can smell it on myself later on and think "who smells so good? OH! Me!" I love that the vanilla does not go powdery and feel cheap. (Looking at you Burberry..) I usually like smelling "unique" but I can get behind this.

Forbiddenjade
Freedom apparently smells for women like a men's cologne from the 70s... rough, loud and brash.
Beans&Gravy
Loooooooove this. It’s a cup of lavender tea at a tea party in a floral garden and you’re eating orange and currant jam on scones. The lavender takes the lead, but all the other florals dance behind like fairies raising lavender up for you to smell. It has this natural sweetness that does not overpower. My mom thought it was a little too formal for everyday wear, but this scent is one I go to sleep smiling with it on. It’s comforting and I’m sure to buy more the moment I end up finishing my bottle.
isolaviola
It's sort of rare to find a lavender perfume on the market that has lavender as one of it's most detectable notes, so this is definitely a perfume for the lavender enjoyer. For lavender I'm typically more of a mystical and magical enjoyer, lavender mixed with woody scents for example, but this is very much not that, the woody scents aren't detectable to my nose - it's more french countryside than witchy vibes. The citrus comes through, it gives the impression of fresh laundry and a spring day. Very fresh and clean.
Not my favourite thing in the world but i very heavily lean towards the dark and mysterious, incense type of scents - for people who are the same as me, I think this is a good buy if you're looking to diversify your collection and switch it up a bit. It's not as offensively floral to my nose as most non-incense perfumes, but a happy middle ground as there's a subtle touch of mystique to it once it settles down.
EDIT: Having worn this perfume for a week now, I have to say I am more impressed than my initial testing. It really is long lasting, much more so than other supposedly 'long lasting' fragrances, and the scent profile gains complexity the longer that you wear it. After a few hours you lose the majority of that citrus note and the cedar and jasmine really shines through alongside the lavender to give a great sophisticated scent. If the initial test was fresh laundry, after long wear it's more like laundry left out to dry in the sun in a meadow, whilst still maintaining that clean and bright scent that contrasts fantastically with the cedar. Really a great scent that keeps on giving and I think it's a wonderful profile for both workplace settings and a spring/summer day.
ibisruber
It smells like old lady to me. It's still a pleasant but wayyy too mature for me. I gave it to my mother and she said it smells like old lady too. Hopefully my grandma likes it!
Samriegel6
Not my favorite, it was marketed as mostly lavender but I cant get through the jasmine to smell it. Very floral, I can almost taste it.
vaninavanini
Libre is one of the most serious perfumes I've ever had a chance to smell.
Cold, rough (like some 70s French actor's cologne) aromatic background covered with dry vanilla leaves no place for feeling or emotion - Libre is about calculation and prudence. To my nose, it smells even a bit dated. While it's undoubtedly a good fragrance, its harshness is chilling and off-putting.
saho93
Oh wow, this is lovely. Usually lavender turns grassy on me, but this one does not. All the notes are well-blended, with each one not over-powering another. It has a beautiful sweetish (but not cloying) aroma. I think I like this better than intense, which sometimes gives me a grassy sensation.
Very nice, gorgeous
bonniherself
I like this. It's nicely balanced and a very nice floral blend. Disclaimer: I really like lavender and white florals, so if you don't, you may not like this. This perfume feels sophisticated and very feminine to me. I would not call this perfume particularly ground-breaking, nor unusual. It kind of reminds me of a more sophisticated and elegant Eighties era floral, just not as big, or as loud, or as in your face (nose?) as those fragrances can be. Nice, balanced, sophisticated, and nothing exciting or groundbreaking.
philly_dragonfly
After reading so many glowing reviews, I blind bought this. Oh gods, I wish I hadn’t. I had instant regrets from the very first spray.
It smells like cheap men’s deodorant to me, and it feels very dated. It’s also very strong, and after awhile I started to actually feel kinda nauseous. I have never had a reaction this before. I kept it on for a couple of hours to see if it would settle down and turn into something halfway nice, but it never did.
brokesta911
Yves Saint Laurent Libre (2019) - orange lavender - #carlosbenaim creates a re-take of his stint with Malle and Music for a while and starts the development with Sweet yet hay-like Lavender combined with Mandarin oranges. Together with #anneflipo who has always been a master on working with florals echo the citrus accords with Orange blossom and Jasmine. As it dries down, I get a white musk base combined with Amber molecules and Vanilla. Easy to wear, modern and straightforward.
Timaka
A bold and confident scent for sure. Got a cute miniature bottle as a gift with purchase from YSL. Unfortunately to my 28 year old nose, it's kind of giving 'rich auntie', not something I want to smell like at this point in my life. Personally I also don't really get along with vanilla-lavender combos, for example I despise Mon Guerlain. Libre is also very strong and perfume-y: there's no question whether the person wearing this is wearing a perfume or if they just happen to smell nice (which is more my preference for every day). Having said that, it's also very recognisable and for the right person, signature-scent worthy for sure.
bruby15
To me this smells identical with Charlie Red only with a citrus note added. So... tea and lemon.
Bella0702
It’s really not all that. Its alright, but I don’t think I would spend my money on it.

I was flying to singapore and smelt this in the duty free and fell in love, bought it instantly. Next day i was excited to wear this perfume only to find out that i couldnt stand it. Im not sure why this happened. I actually gave it to the help of the hotel and she was super happy but i would air out the room every time she was in my room. Im not sure why this happened. This is a bold perfume. Someone down the comments said it smelt like the inside of an airplane before flight. Weirdly i agree
toosimilar
Very masculine vanilla-lavender scent
Hannehoney
I love this. It gives me a feeling of spring :) Beautiful lavender, jasmine, mandarin, vanilla blend. Its a bright, happy everyday scent, but its also good for special occasions. Has a strong sillage and lastingpower.
missparfums77
A truly modern floral, with just the good balance of a girl boss fragrance and flirty and feminine!
The touch of lavender usually used in mens perfume gives a little ”je ne sais quoi ” , it’s smell chic and rather classical and elegant , and i can imagine a women dress in black with gold Jewel like the design of the bottle ! A compliment magnet , suit all year a round maybe not for the hot summer days…
dine.vanille
Beautiful, bold scent for women who are not afraid of smelling unique. If you're a floral, gourmand lover, maybe you will find this too masculine, so DON'T blind buy. There's a very sharp lavender note that really reminds you of men cologne, but it's blended beautifully with the vanilla and white florals. I love it and find it so original.
Please, don't wear this at the office or in hot weather. This is definitely not a discreet, office friendly fragrance as many people claim... this perfume can be headache inducing because of this sharp lavender note. Better leave it for special occasions, when you want to be elegant and also get some attention, day or night. Longevity is excellent and projection is enormous, people are going to smell it before you even get close to them.
If you'd like a softer alternative of this fragrance to wear at work, I recommend Libre EdT or Destinée by La Rive.
Freakyindia
My buddy put me onto this one. As soon as I got a whiff, I was sold. It's got this super nice smell, and the vanilla really comes through (and I'm all about that vanilla life). This is definitely an everyday kind of perfume. It's just easy to wear, nothing off-putting about it at all.
PerfumerLoverforlifeeeee
Perfect scent.. i got a sample at the perfume shop thinking it was just like any other perfume that went viral but i was completely wrong. It smells so sophisticated and classy.. works best for daytime and i think that it fits literally every season but especially spring.. so chic and unique.. i did smell the intense version too but i think this one is better.. the sweetness and the vanilla of the intense version overshadowed the uniqueness of the scent and made it just like any other sweet scent in my opinion.. live love laugh libre EDP… it gives very much clean girl aesthetic.. it smells like you’re put together, confident, classy but approachable and loving
LavenderMe
This is indeed a powerhouse of a perfume - really strong, captivating, powdery and sweet. The orange blossom is quite loud and I personally struggle to discern any lavender.
Libre feels a little too heavy and linear on me, but it would still be pleasant to smell it briefly from someone else.
It reminds me very strongly of a perfume my sister had when I was teen - MeXX Wild (a drugstore cheapie - the orange blossom in it smelled identical to Libre).
incat
smelled bouncy??? idk it smells great tho. rly round and vanilla and great if you wanna wear it everyday. i'd grab a mini bottle first tho
moon-lake-nymph
Where to even start with this? Libre is just killer.
So sexy and elegant. Classy as hell. Devastating.
Wore this to a job interview, walked out with the job.
This fragrance gives you confidence and makes you radiate power.
K8lo
She's mature, professional, sexy and means business. Sophisticated. I love this as a fragrance for work (Im in finance), but Libre is so much more. She is a powerhouse. This is what you wear to radiate confidence. I catch myself smelling my perfume touch points all day when I wear this. I understand its a polarizing fragrance likely from the lavender which always seems to divide people and it can come across a touch masculine. I find the entire Libre line absolutely captivating and Libre EDP (the OG) is my favorite. She's crisp, warm & sensual, alluring and gives bad bish energy. She smells expensive. Le Parfum is my second favorite, she is like Libre EDP but in bold capital font: deeper, bolder, and rich with that honey note. But for me, the OG Libre hit the nail on the head. Phenomenal sillage & projection. I wear this spring, fall & winter (shes just a bit heavy in summer). Day or Night.
A staple in any perfume collection. Libre is a true signature fragrance. Always lots of compliments.
rene.saller
I resisted Libre as long as I could because I didn't think I needed another vanilla-lavender perfume, but I fell for the dupes, and then I bought the real thing (in the travel size), and now I'm a believer. I love lavender and vanilla, and it surprises me that this can smell as different from, say, Mon Guerlain or Lavandes Trianon by Lancome, as it does. Libre EDP has a clean floral lavender--less gourmand than MG an LT but not as "barbershop" as Lovely or Lavender Extreme--that works nicely over the vanilla. Designating it as an "amber fougère" sounds a teensy bit gimmicky but also more accurate than any other scent category. I understand why this is so popular--it's distinctive and an unusually good performer. It's not inexpensive, but it works out to being a pretty good bargain when you factor in the potency and longevity. I also like the subtle interplay of the white florals with the lavender, vanilla, fruits, and woods. Cedar is a stunning note for the base because it contributes to that clean-spa vibe.
linceul d'hiver
lavender is easily my favorite scent, and I don't think this does it justice. it smells like diluted fairy dishwashing liquid to me, no matter where or how many times I spray it. I find libre intense much better in every way
silenthedges
My partner and I have both agreed that this smells like an aircraft cabin in the beginning of a flight.
csillagrubin
Libre edp is one of my alltime favourite! It's my signature scent. My husband loves it as well. This fragrance makes me feel very sexy, feminine and confident. One of my male coworkers said it smells like spring. Lavender, vanilla and orange blossom are the most prominent notes for me.
CallistoLuna
Love this perfume as a work fragrance. Perfect for the office. I find I always get compliments wearing this one. The notes blend well and create a great for daytime, not too formal, but it is sophisticated.
charslatte
i wore this two days in a row because i was so obsessed with it, i constantly find myself reaching to just smell it because it's so beautiful and calming. defiantly great for any lavender lover out there :)
Coccobacillius
Beautiful and strong perfume. Last spring and summer I was in love with this and I hope our love grows this year even more. It’s slightly masculine but it’s givin baddie vibes. It’s long lasting, the silage is crazy and overall it’s a very beautiful composition. 10/10!
pynchbookclub
As someone who hates florals, especially lavender, this wasn't that bad. It was actually quite pleasant and inoffensive. Everyone else says it's a loud powerhouse perfume, but I sprayed the tiniest bit and it was perfect. Quite soft and powdery and musky. It can be worn in any weather but the florals definitely give me spring vibes. It's not quite my vibe, but I will definitely finish the sample I have!
in.awe
Stunning. I have nothing else like this, and wrongly dismissed it due to the marketing choices. While it is borderline mature, it captures the senses and evokes pure luxury, gold and confidence.
The surprisingly minimal list of fragrance notes blending seamlessly and are indistinguishable... yet the scent evolves!
vpace91
I'm starting to think I just don't care for lavender. It has to be a sweeter perfume for me to like it, otherwise it become bitter on my skin. :/
Akesuts
Do I feel empowered wearing this- yes, Do I feel like I'm wearing the same as everyone and their mother these days- yes. It has a lot of the good things, but lasts just a couple hours unless I spray abusively on clothes. I still like it nevertheless because it is indeed different in a good way.
kfenelon
I can’t believe it took me so long to add this to my collection. I normally despise lavender as a note in fragrance, but somehow it is beautifully done in Libre. This is a strong, perfectly unisex fragrance that can be worn just about anywhere.
ashleydvan
This fragrance is a powerhouse- and I strongly associate it with work. I had a large vial of this last year, and wore it to work as a therapist daily. So not sure if it's the clean, unisex fragrance- or just my associations with it.
It lasts long and throws across a room. I could smell it on my clothing the next day. For me, it is cozy-clean musk, something fiery, and grape (maybe that's the currant I'm getting).
Ultimately, I decided against a full bottle, as it didn't fully suit my personality, and this season of my life... and because I own too many "loud and dark" scents already- but I really do love this fragrance, overall.
Vstar1
This is a pretty scent, clean and classy. It would be good for spring/summer daytime wear. That said, it’s a bit too one-note for me. Nothing about it really pops out at me, but it’s still something I might wear in warm weather now and then. Le Parfum is by far my favorite though.
Slink
Wow, the reviews are so polarizing. It's so interesting how smell is so different for people. I love Libre. To me it is such a distinctive fragrance. I could pick out the scent of Libre from a hundred other scents easily where I would not be able to say that about most floral perfumes. I find it beautiful - floral, citrusy, clean and rich. The dry down smells vanilla and soft musk to me. I know people say it smells masculine. I guess I can see a guy wearing this and pulling it off, but that isn't my impression of it.
You should limit it to 1-2 sprays at most or you can get a headache. Once I dabbed some behind my ears and it really bothered me. I had to wash it off. I found that for me spraying just 1 diffuse spray on the forearm and even wearing it under a sweater is enough for me. Or even spraying it into the air and waving my arm through the air is enough. I find that is enough for me for most perfumes.
strawberryswitchblade
I love the scent of lavender but this concoction smells like some sort of moth deterrent to me. Not disgusting per se, but unpleasant for a perfume
mdluli
I bought it on 2022 and I didn't like at all, kept trying and we didn't click at all. I put away for a year now I like it, can't get enough of it.It's a clean fresh soapy but with an edge.
jiaamin
Clean, slightly creamy and comforting scent, reminds me a little bit of burberry brit perfume. Suitable for both younger and older people. Pretty soapy smelling to me, opening almost smells a bit nutty? I don’t think the lavender is too prominent initially but after a few minutes it becomes more noticeable. Dry down is not as sweet as I would like, but still pretty nice. Decent projection.
Célia Pais
Dry down is so masculine on me 😪 if wasn't that it could be my signature for sure. On others Girls o love.. Opening and midle notes is really good.
mugatupotamus
This scent is so sophisticated and lovely. I am obsessed with smelling it on other people, but absolutely hate it on myself. I get a LOT of citrus on this to start, then the lavender starts to take over with a vanilla finish. It's clean, bright, and the little bit of jasmine that comes through brings elegance and some balance.
The lavender was way too strong and sharp on me. At the end of the day I felt like I couldn't get away from it, and I only used one spray on my wrists. If your skin works well with powerful lavender, consider this one as a signature fragrance.
Essie12
I wanted to like this one but unfortunately it gave me a headache and nausea from the moment I sprayed it.
pureangelgirl
sharp, pretty and classy, nothing particularly special
Anarig97
I really like this perfume. I understand its popularity. For some reason, the longevity of this perfume on me was out of this world. I sprayed it on myself at 7 am and I was still smelling it at 7 pm. It was faint and the sillage was nonexistent at that point but I was extremely impressed. This is the first perfume I have ever worn that lasted that long. I like that this perfume is equal parts gourmand, equal parts floral. I feel like both elements get a chance to play here. I haven’t worn a perfume (yet) that knows how to perfectly balance those scent profiles together. It’s weird because even though I do like the scent it doesn’t feel like a signature scent for me. I can’t picture myself wearing this perfume very often nor do I have the urge to wear it again anytime soon. A rollercoaster of feelings and emotions with this one but overall I do recommend and will probably revisit it in the near (or distant) future.
daniellecrowe
Currently obsessed with this fragrance. The more I wear it, the more I like it. I can't get enough of it when I'm wearing it, and smell myself more than is socially acceptable. I agree that a little goes a long way, and it lasts forever on both skin and clothes.
I really do not get much lavender - lavender and vanilla are very subtle. Its strong citrus and blackcurrant with light white florals in the background. Very Amarige D'amour without the rosehip.
Could be unisex for some, but leans to the feminine side in my opinion.
ScottishHaggis
This perfume is a grower. It wasn’t love at first sniff, infact I was almost kicking myself for throwing £90 down the drain on a perfume that didn’t suit me. It took a few days, and lots of reassurance from people for my nose to adjust and slowly fall in love and once it did, there’s no turning back!
Firstly if you’re someone who gets perfume headaches then this isn’t for you. It’s strong. Migraine inducing strong. The smell will last weeks on your skin and clothes, and a little will go a long way!
So this perfume for me is sexiness in a bottle. It’s feminine, sexy and when you walk in a room you will fill it with this smell. It’s a lavender prominent perfume, but I don’t actually smell much lavender from it. I get florals and vanilla, it’s sweet, it’s sharp and baby girl no one else will be smelling like this! It’s grown up, sophisticated and elegant. I could see myself being the boss of a big company wearing this, I feel confident, empowered, but also very pretty, extremely elegant and feminine. It’s dry down is the sweetest most beautiful vanilla bomb. It’s the perfect daytime scent but I would also wear this for clubbing or for going on a date!
yuser99
Not a fan of the lavender in here. It’s a bit too sharp overall and gives me an instant headache. Regret purchasing.
scenturian
Libre was a love at first sniff when I tried in 2019.
I think it is still the best from the Libre line.
A solid release from YSL.
Lavender and vanilla bomb with a touch of white flowers.
Men can also try it since it is a Fougere and Lavender forward perfume.
On my skin it is fresh citrus lavender with a bit of sweetness.
Beast mode performance.
Mshapiro2115
This is my third time buying the OG Libre. Florals are not my favorite but the warmth of the vanilla and lavender balaces it out for me. This is a powerhouse. You only need two sprays of this for a full 8 hour wear time. It projects and lasts even longer on clothes. This is easy to overdo and you WILL be inducing headaches with anything more than two sprays. Bottle is beautiful and classy with the gold and black detailing. This is a powerhoyse. Needs to be worn at the appropriate place and time. She means business!
chuurou
I love vanilla and white florals but I hated this scent when I tested it. Either this is the single most repulsive perfume I’ve ever smelled or the tester at my local mall has gone bad. Most likely the former though, as my friend with similar taste strongly dislikes this fragrance as well.
saroraa
It's not a bad scent. It's just very generic. It's hard to pick out any notes. If you told me to imagine a generic perfume smell, this would be it. I really don't until how people are getting "rich grandma" or "successful businesswoman" from this. The good thing about it is that you could wear it from anywhere from the office to a party and it wouldn't feel out of place.
tainted hues
Yall! I only have a sample of this and it is almost gone. I am a foodie gourmand perfume girl but this one I crave. It’s sweet, it’s clean, it’s divinity in a bottle! I can pinpoint it on someone else and I literally sigh when I notice it on someone else especially when it’s super cold out side and the scent wafts into my nose. I get jealous that I’m not wearing it. I loved YSL manifesto when it was out and just felt rich and luxe wearing it & truly didn’t want to try Libre based off reviews saying it smelled like cologne. I received a sample and decided to try it & I can still smell the same dna as manifesto but this one isn’t so sweet. It’s amazing and I definitely want to buy a full size. I pair this with my milk and honey body wash and my honey and vanilla body sprays. So yummy
SSolstice
I enjoy vanilla and lavender but I don’t pick up a ton of it with Libre. It’s a bit sharp and headache-inducing for me. May well be lovely if I smelled it on someone else, but sadly a scrubber in my case.
alison352
YSL Libre, on me, screams a wee bit softer version of Joop. Even after the dry down, I'm getting Joop w/a drop of Deep Woods Off bug spray. Which is too bad because even tho I like the smell of Joop on others (Male or Female) on me it's very cloying & can be headache inducing. Which leads me to believe, Libre will do the same.
UK-rain
This is the most disgusting perfume I have ever smelled.
It smells like those industrial cream cleaners you use to scrub the cooker/ bathroom tiles, (bleach note included).
proxyz25
It's overstated, but people are right when they say that this smells rich! It does remind me of my rich grandmothers a bit - it smells floral, a bit powdery, musky, just clean overall. I didn't expect to like the lavender/vanilla/floral combination, but as it's own DNA it works! I've only just bought some of this, and if I have the money I'll probably splurge for a full-sized version, though I'd like to sample others in the Libre line more too.
jadepo21
This is one of the single most baffling reviews I have ever written, simply because I cannot even begin to imagine the negativity around this one and have to assume it is some form of mass hysteria. This is gorgeous, in no way masculine, and I cannot even begin to fathom why some would say corporate and mature. This is liquid confidence and sex appeal. This is female empowerment. This is slinky, sultry, enticing, and downright sensual. This is what you spritz behind the ears when you greet the hubby at the door in nothing but a smile. This is what you dab at your wrists when you pull on that skin tight skirt and head to the date you’ve been looking forward to. This is unadultered feminine wiles in a jar. How anyone gets matronly or serious or synthetic is beyond me. Just can’t make it make sense, so I am going to stop trying and go put a bottle of this on the nightstand, cause this juice is for the grown folk.
cocovanillacake
I hated this when I tested it at Sephora. But then I bought a travel size in a Ysl mascara gift set, and I was surprised by how different the scent was. Maybe it goes sour sitting under heat and harsh lighting in the stores all day. It is very soft, I get white florals and sweet lavender. Sort of like a lavender bubble bath type of smell. Reminds me of a more refined version of lush sleepy/twilight. I ordered the EDT and le parfum to compare.
Sugemen
Classical and very common BUT this can not detract from the beauty of the perfume.
Powerfulpatchouli
This is one of my go to work fragrances. Typical of mature fragrance wearers. You will need some confidence to wear this due to the lavender men’s cologne scent. Very unisex in my opinion. Nothing outstanding just a good safe business perfume for the office. As a designer it’s blended well. I think the hype is due to the lavender notes making it into a perfume marketed to women.

Very unremarkable between 100s of likewise perfums on the market. All the insufferable marketing, all the flankers, hefty price, all - for a brand name and a bottle of a boring sugar juice
jlu108
I've been looking for a nice daily wear fragrance and saw this one was quite popular. I went in as a blind buy as it was on sale and I didn't get a chance to smell in store. Happy to say this was a safe blind buy unlike what the cons said. It's a fairly neutral scent in my opinion, fresh and floral but doesn't lean too warm/gourmand nor too fresh. Definitely a good daily wear for daytime use but can transition nicely to nighttime to. That said, I don't necessarily LOVE this scent but I like it. Definitely good for office settings or if you don't want to have a super strong scent on you all day. I wish it had a slightly stronger vanilla note, although the softer vanilla note makes it a great all-season fragrance. Overall, happy with my blind buy. It's a safe scent to wear to all events and not offensive.
Gingerblck
I bought this because it’s so popular, and I heard it is similar to one of my favourites voca viva. Well, in my opinion it is definitely not. To me it smelled like strong vanilla and bitter lavender, like if you chew on a chunk of lavender. I was sneezing from it and had to wash it off. I’m happy other people like it but it is not for me.
Jessica3
I believe men could pull this one off as well. If you’re into unisex fragrances, give this one a try. It’s unique and not overpowering.
notfrannie
You know how all magazine perfume samples smell basically the same? this smells like opening a magazine and immediately opening all the samples. You have to want to smell like that, but it's approachable, bright, and a little nostalgic. I don't find it smells too floral or too "mature," I think because it avoids any powdery notes.
daniel moss man
i think there’s a fine line between classy and mature to old person smelling. to me this is a really good fancy and floral clean scent, but i know to some it might be a little too soapy or odd at a first spray. i really like it though! would rec for my lavender, soapy, and mature perfume lovers
rhotho
Based on the notes I should like it but I just don't. I usually love lavender but here it just makes it unbearably soapy. I might wear it if I just want to smell clean, but it's not worth buying for me.
darkbeauty
Classy, smooth, bright. Opening is super well blended. The citrus brings it together in a very cheerful way. No headaches here with overpowering white florals. Doesn’t come off as synthetic as some jasmine, orange blossom, and other whites florals sometimes do. Lavender is there but also not overpowering the other notes which I appreciate. Dry down is a soft fluffy, creamy vanilla lavender combo. I would love this for spring and summer. The Intense is the richest of the flankers and my favorite for colder weather.
Also… I don’t get the comparison a lot people talk about between this and Mon Guerlain. I have MG and, although it too contains lavender and vanilla, it’s a completely different perfume to my nose, and I see no similarities whatsoever.
Testing the EDP from a carded spray sample.
Sunee
Basic like the whole line. I tried liking them but they all have a smell that i cant get into at all. Maybe it smells better on others but its just a perfume.
Mae10
this fragrance is too much it gives me headache its too citrusy and mixed with the lavender is a no for me . the vanilla is barley there its a hint of vanilla to soften it a bit but its sharp and annoying you get the orange the lavender the white flowers the jasmine its too much for me its definitely considered a "classy" scent if you like chanel perfumes you will like this. its not bad but strong & generic & so mannnny people will smell like this i actually smelled it on alot of people. its a pass
marshmallowmami
i personally feel like this smells like root beer but in an unfortunate way
perfumegirly
I feel like this perfume is something I had to wear for a while in order to appreciate it. At first, there is a citrus-y note that makes the perfume confusing and it seems like the perfume doesn’t know what it wants to be. The dry down, however, is a warm, complex vanilla that I love.
lightlover
A little too mature for me. Kinda smells generic, but a lot less cloying than some of the other generic florals. I don’t get strong lavender, but the dry down has a soft calmness that makes me think of a warm cup of floral vanilla tea
lavieenrose1987
I was not expecting to like this as much as I do! I’m not a huge floral scent person, but this is just so warm and inviting, like a maternal figure you want to hug. I don’t know if I’d recommend this to young women, but as someone in her 30’s, I think this is just the right amount of classy without being too mature. Lasts forever too, even with just one spray! This definitely isn’t one where you need to build it up much.
Des96
Actually offended my nose when I smeller my arm. I tried it several times, and the intense…it just smelled like some kind of chemical cleaner that irritated my nose. I even sprayed my husband, it smelled better but still reminds me of those dollar tree lavender body products. Ive never washed something off me before but it was giving me a headache and was so strong. So longevity and projection is wonderful but not for me at all. I love Cloud so I don’t get why I hate this so much. So disappointed. Not a safe blind buy.
StllM@gnolia30
I don't know why this scent is popular. It's not unpleasant but it just smells so generic to me. Just your average musk and amber perfume. I don't like it or dislike it. It's just 'meh'.
sofkuuuh
Smells so good! Like a warm vanilla hug :)
Zephyrppl
This is a very intriguing smell in a way that is both “grandma” and “cologne” ish. I find that jasmine scents make fragrance more mature and that’s true here, but it does work well with the lavender/orange blossom and vanilla notes. I was introduced through a dossier inspired perfume; Floral Lavender since it’s more beginner friendly and wow, it was love at first smell! I actually preferred dossier version, it’s more youthful and fresh. This one just has a more elegant touch. Very beautiful and one of my favorites thus far!
Nareenie
YSL Libre is such a nice starting fragrance. It has that lavender goodness that radiates throughout the entire perfume but mixes with this citrus mandarin and than in aforethought you smell that amazing vanilla. It’s a very warm fragrance with fresh undertones and carry’s a musky undertone. A little like air freshener but it’s not a bad thing just makes it soapy and clean like a Chloe soapy. It radiates heavily on skin and clothes and lasts for about 6-8 hours. 9/10
Lorela
It has something in its depth similar to Flora by Gucci the classic, but Libre is less powdery. I really enjoy this scent but I don't put it often since three girls in the company I work for have it so I use it when I doll up for a lunch or lounge, anywhere that I put on my golden earrings. Golden earrings and Libre are like shampoo and conditioner. It's a feminine sophisticated smell.
mayvray
I was not expecting to love this one as much as I did. It’s very clean, slightly citrusy, lavender goodness. I do get a bit of ‘generic perfume smell’ but I find that I don’t mind it as much as I do in other fragrances. Love this!
AnneAnne888
I got a sample of this in the mail from Macy's and I'm just not getting the hype. I'm thinking it's because Dua Lipa is the spokesmodel for it lol. I really don't get the lavender in it and I love lavender. So, disappointment number one. The opening makes me sneeze and gives me a slight headache so I'm thinking mostly synthetics. Definitely smells synthetic. I'm at the middle of it now and it's kind of stings my nose and makes me feel sneezey, not typical for me. It also gets me scratchy and tickles the back of my throat in a bad way. I don't get this way from non synthetic fragrances. It morphed into a sweeter scent but in a sweet smelling teen themed hairspray kind of way. The middle is a mish mash of assorted flowers and coming back to it at dry down it now it smells like coast or zest soap and it leans a little masculine for me. Once past the opening notes it just smelled like a room after wearing a different perfume each day and now the traces of them have all blended together but my room smells better than this lol. It's nothing special, just an ok also ran of every other perfume mixed with a little lavender to try to differentiate but it didn't work. Now I'm getting the BO and old hairspray vibe that someone else stated lol. It keeps morphing, sometimes it's ok, basically a pleasant scent but then it's coast soap, irish spring, something nondescript and citrus, with a floral undertone mix that keep battling with each other for dominance. So way overpriced. Paying for the name, For the people who love this, I guess it mixes well with your chemistry and you are not allergic to synthetics. For me I guess it just doesn't mix well with my chemistry and it assaults my nasal sinuses a bit. Oh well. Cool bottle though
UPDATE: I wore it again today for a full work day to test drive it and today I find it more pleasant though I did get the slight headache thing when I first sprayed it but not the tickle in throat thing. Today it's leaning more sweet, spicy floral but with the underlying masculine deodorant soap note on dry down. I get vanilla ever so slightly but still not smelling the lavender and I love lavender so that would have been a plus but maybe the lavender is what's giving it the slightly spicy note that I find appealing. I'm wondering if my chemistry is reacting different both days because I am just coming off my period. The first time I tested this sample a while back it was really loud and offensive but I'm wondering if the little vial macerated since then. In summary, not bad, not great, just ok. Not enough to fork over the price of it. But as a collector I might want to have the bottle just for that purpose. I would like to sample the flankers though, especially the Platine one.

I'm a guy who likes to dabble into women's perfume sometimes to see if it clicks with me or not. I got a magazine tester of YSL Libre and thought it had promise, so I got a decant of it to make sure I liked it. And I love it.
The opener is intensely white floral and musky in nature. My nose gets bombarded by the orange blossom and lavender notes in particular, and they synergize together beautifully. The jasmine notes are also there in the background, but slightly subdued by the sheer dominance of the other two notes in the opening. None of the white floral notes ever felt indolic.
As the dry down begins, you really start to notice the jasmine notes taking the lead, propped up by a noticeable vanilla base. It also kinda smells like there's this cooling, faux-minty spice (cedar perhaps?) going on along with the vanilla, which I quite like. Almost like the sensation of your nose feeling the spice of a carbonated soda, which I know sounds weird, but I bring that up because as the dry down progresses, it starts to smell like root beer! Quite a surprising development, but I love it nonetheless. Late in the dry down, the jasmine notes mellow out dramatically and become reminiscent of a mild jasmine tea. You're then left with a lingering, vaguely spicy and sweet vanilla that gradually fades away many hours later.
Libre projects really well too. In fact I'd be nervous about spraying more than twice with this one, especially with how divisive white florals seem to be with a lot of people. This is definitely a fragrance that skews towards feminine; it's definitely not unisex, although I'll be using it proudly as a man.
I've already ordered a bottle of Libre since I enjoy it so much, and I'm getting samples of Intense/Le Parfum too to see what they're like. Hopefully they'll be appreciably different while retaining a similar concept.

My opinion is very opposite to many people but I really didn’t like this scent on the paper.
I didn’t apply to my skin so not sure if it’s different.
The scent reminds me men’s hair tonic to me, maybe because of the lavender note.
I like aromatherapy lavender scent though.
Very masculine scent to me and I can’t imagine it’s feminine or sexy.
massimilianoinquieto
SammyIX
The absolute queen of longevity that sets the standards in that area. Lovely, powerful woody and lavender mix that smells more and more beautiful the longer you wear it.
Moonshine_Strawberries
Maybe my absolute favorite fragrance. It’s very mainstream, and the floral-citrus-vanilla combo is a very generic profile, and yet to me there’s nothing generic about this. It’s a masterpiece.
Also I may never understand this, but the vanilla note in it smells very different to me than the vanilla in anything else I’ve ever tried. I usually don’t even like vanilla.
cpeck
Everyone: buy some CK One and layer it with lavender and a pinch of jasmine. That's Libre. Everyone's mileage will vary on this, but I promise, if you own CK One, wear them side by side and compare. I was so shocked at the drydown. Do I like it? Yes - it smells very different on my skin than on a tester. Will I buy a full size? Unsure. I already own CK One. Definitely unisex.
estaesta
Most delicious opening, reminds me of the old school flex shampoo, laconic heavy playdough salty vanilla but in a very rich classy way. Infact if it had stayed there I would have said it's the most sexiest perfume ever but Lavender and aquatic cologne type takes over, can be quite harsh if you're not into that french 90's cologne feel, also a generic 90's dolce and Gabbana vibe ( blue and the red cap femme bottle) , lactonic milky warm plush comes back and it blends once again becoming beautiful. Unsure why all the neg comments. Maybe it's the fight between the herbal aquatics and the deep lush that some feel annoying, and can go into the luxury soap vibe. But It's so classy old money. Definitely unisex
If perfume had an age I would say it will be appreciated by an older crowd.
samlovefragrance
My coworker wears this regularly to the office and wow does this smell timeless and surprisingly elegant. Anyone else thinks it's sillage smells like a cross between chanel No.5 eau premiere and Mugler's Alien? because i often thinks she's wearing those when it's Libre all the time :P oh and longevity is good since it keeps projecting for at least 4 hours.
honeyedclover
Never understood what people meant when they called a scent "mature" until I smelled Libre. Libre is a woman in her mid-30s to 50s who's a corporate business shark girlboss. She wears pantsuits, minimalist gold jewelry, and winged eyeliner. She has an intimidating gaze but gives nice hugs. You know she's approaching from the click-clack of her heels on the floor and—of course, the smell of Libre.
Enough imagery. This fragrance is a soapy lavender resting on a bed of white florals; a very typical perfumey scent. Nothing wrong with that, especially when the wear time is decent and the dry-down is almost a creamy vanilla. I don't detect any citrus though. PLEASE DON'T OVERSPRAY!!! Personally, it's not something I would find myself wearing on most occasions, but it is an oddly comforting, maternal scent to me. Thankfully, I only have a sample bottle.
And I am convinced a majority of the hate this fragrance gets simply comes from the fact that it's popular! This is a light and inoffensive fragrance. It's very basic, it's very popular, and so what? It's popular because it appeals to a wide audience, which should not take away from the quality of the scent itself.
fraghead15
A great lavender, orange blossom and vanilla fragrance that screams "I am here and I am in charge." This is a great work perfume. It also performs great in the Fall and Winter. I love wearing this to job interviews to give me a confidence boost.
druxyroses
The girls that get it get it!!!!....but plot twist...I don't get it.
BGkitten
Soapy, clean, rich, expensive, mature; This woman knows what she wants; This woman runs companies; This is not a scent for the youthful wandering girl, it is a scent for a woman who is well adjusted into he habits, knows herself well and can’t be pushed around; She sleeps in silky ivory sheets, she likes expensive things that she can/is buying on her own. This is a scent she got herself, this is not a scent a man got for her.
FlowerSeeker
The lavender is just too strong for me. The citrus and white florals are nice. Smells a little masculine. Maybe that’s cedar?
amaramarie0208
Like most designer brands, you shouldn't expect anything extraordinary, but Libre does its job: it's very 90s, nice notes, however at time I thought it came off as slightly chemical smelling.
It's a nice night scent for teens, but honestly you can get a better scent at the same price point.
junimo
This smells like a department store.

I don't know what Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim were thinking when they created Libre. For me, Libre + Libre Intense is a masterpiece in both fragrance and design! 😍 Libre is always in my All-time favorite women's perfume, always has been 🤩
A luxurious, expensive scent like rich, successful female CEOs. Lavender note is very smooth and relaxing, from the scent to the design of YSL Libre, it exudes a luxurious, trendy look that every girl desires. T bought Libre Intense and experienced both of these popular versions. When smelling at the tip of the nozzle, Libre Intense has a richer than the OG version, but when on the skin, Libre OG is usually the truest version. I like the gentle, luxurious and relaxing scent of the OG version more than Intense, it's really attractive. And you like sexy and passionate? Don't hesitate to choose Libre Intense now! Anyway, having both versions that change daily is still the best choice, because I'm a huge fan of YSL Libre.
Rating: 100+/10. I will wear Libre for the rest of my life
sakona
Whenever I spray this I feel fresh and sweet. Confident. The smell reminds me of everything....
This last long and great price. YSL brand never get disappointed
Hybridchimera
Smells like you are wearing a perfume that everyone else is wearing. Not offensive but nothing special.
sabs1205
I’m a sucker for orange blossom, jasmine, bergamot, and vanilla. When I tell you that I’ve been searching for a modern day fragrance that actually lasts and hits deep, THIS is it.
This original Libre has more of the lavender unisex feel. The intense = white floral and vanilla amped up dry-down feel. I can still smell the sophisticated scent after hours of wearing it, as if I just sprayed it. It’s a beautiful dry-down and well worthy of the price point.
Really hoping they never discontinue this or the intense! I’m here for the hype!
alusskaa
I wanted to buy this perfume for months! Everytime, when I tried it in the shop, I loved it. And then I bought it, sprayed it on me and hated it so much! I do not understand what changed, but I could smell only a lavender and nothing else. It was so unpleasant. I tried few more times and must have got rid of it. :(
warmcashmere
I'm conflicted on how I feel about this scent on me. I'm a girl who wants to smell like caramel and baked goods and Libre is highkey a cologne. Like, I can see women wearing this, but it's very masculine to me. I could potentially see myself purchasing a travel size and wearing it when I have no idea what perfume to wear.
amnebe
She's blonde and plays tennis in the Florida sun. Her deodorant is failing, but her perfume is going strong.
I get whiffs of a cheap plasticky candle, citrus, strong white florals, and Old Spice. Every now and then, I smell BO and old lady hair spray. The lavender and citrus mix together in a way that reminds me of the taste of toothpaste and orange juice together. There's just too much happening at once. No way is this perfume for me. It's definitely different and nothing like I expected. I think it could go either way gender-wise.
Angelic3432
I blind bought the travel spray by accident thinking it was a different perfume I wanted. I didn't like it at first but its grown on me. Definitely for 30+ older crowd. I just bought the Intense version to see if I like it better since it's supposed to be more gourmand. Definitely a winter scent for me.
Melanie__Jenn
Аромат богатой и уверенной женщины. Может подойти не всем, ибо аромат достаточно тяжелый. Есть несколько версий, но темно коричневая и эта светленькая мои самые любимые и самые приятные. 8/10
Yariiii
I honestly as a man love this fragrance, it’s sweet, vanilla, maybe a little bit fresh because of mandarin orange and citrus, and I would like my girl wearing this on a date night.
Emoody
To me it smells exactly like brand new designer shoes
Sagaerosetum
I really like this perfume, but I must say I was surprised to see lavender as a note on here, because I don’t smell that at all. To me it is a nice white floral with vanilla. It wears well and people usually say that I smell nice and “like something I know but can’t put my finger on” which to me is not bad at all.
Basically: it’s a long wearing scent that just smells like perfume
vilkel
Luxorious, grown up perfume. You really need 1-2 sprays only and it lasts and projects like only few designer perfumes can. More suitable for evening but I wear it to feel like an empowered boss lady in days I need to as well. If oversprayed, can be very nauseating because of the lavender so not for everyone. A lucky blind buy for me based on reviews and marketing but not a safe one for everyone. Dominating notes for me are lavender, citrus and vanilla. Also, the bottle is just gorgeous, very chic looking.
Aniorlamem
Tried testing this on card today… the opening was overwhelming wintergreen toothpaste (perhaps the lavender- mint family) and honestly an instant headache. A few hours later the dry down is nicer…. But actually smells exactly like a department store perfume section. Will say the longevity is there.
eeelllllleee
Recently received a bottle of this as a gift. This is a very familiar gourmand floral designer scent with the characteristic saccharine sweet vanilla, thick and viscous orange blossom syrup (same DNA as Black Opium), and a lavender wreath to add a touch of herbal spice and metallic edge. Not that the latter does anything to balance the shrill, heady sweetness of the other notes, which I think was necessary.
To me, there are a plethora of other fragrances on the market that executes the same idea of vanilla + cool spices/metallic notes better. Mon Guerlain is much more pleasant as a fluffy lavender-forward vanilla, and MFK Gentle Fluidity Gold brings some refinement and class as a creamy vanilla-gin cocktail. Sadly, this one does not stand out.
rouxpanda
I have a 5ml sample and I'm getting an aquatic/ozonic vibe. It reminds me of Acqua di Gio for men but with a more feminine touch (but this could be a unisex fragrance). I might try it at the store from the full bottle to check if it smells the same based on another comment below saying the full bottle didn't smell the same.
brightsun2205
I used to despise YSL’s Libre when I first tested it because of the nauseating and lavender-dominant scent.
On the second test, the well-blended aromatic sweet floral scent wowed and started to grow on me
YSL’s Libre is redeemed. However, we better use it with caution because it will be perhaps cloying if we overspray. Maximum 3 sprays.
Frenchfragrancelady
One of my fav. For office days, date. Insane and great from fall to end of Winter. nevertheless everyone wears it, so i wouldn't say it would distinguish you from anyone else if you wear it..
chocoshelo
typical walking into Macy’s smelling everything mixed together generic perfume for NPC’s
kaytiewright
To me this is the definition of a generic “perfume” scent. It’s definitely more of a mature fragrance, and it smells thick and heavy in the air. this is absolutely not an office scent and those who wear this to work are giving people a headache.
sylvividi
Confident boss woman scent... but it's generic enough that I'm not sure what the exact scent notes actually are. Top notes are citrus-y upon first spray, with more vanilla notes coming out later. In the middle there are some generic white florals.
This has strong sillage and lasts 11-12 hours on me.
I like Libre, but it doesn't make my heart sing. I wish I hadn't bought a full bottle of it and would have been happy with a decant.
D0LLFACE
It smells like Herbal Essence. The old Herbal Essence with the lady with all the flowers in her hair. If you are over 45, you know what I’m talking about. Such a hit of nostalgia, I love it!!! Can’t stop inhaling this.
rachelv
It's like a weaker version of Jimmy Choo's I want Choo - sweet smelling fragrance. This one has the hint of lavender which I Want Choo doesn't have I prefer it as the Jimmy Choo one is too strong for me, but price wise this costs double of the Jimmy Choo with less longevity and strength. Not something I'd buy personally as I don't need another fragrance like this. I got this as a sample.
Glyceryl
I wasn’t crazy about it upon the first spray, but after wearing it throughout the day I cannot get enough! It’s slightly sweet, without being sugary. Floral, without being too mature. Fresh, without being overly masculine. For me, this is a fantastic perfume that is a perfect balance of everything I love in a fragrance.
alessiatommasone
I don't know what it is about YSL fragrances, but they seem to disappoint me each time. this was incredibly disappointing, although I can see a mature woman wearing this.
just smells very cloying, floral and soapy all at the same time. can't really smell the vanilla on the drydown either, just guess it is not my scent.
WhiteFlowerPrincess
I like Libre by Yves Saint Laurent, but there's something about it that smells very much like a mass market department store perfume. It doesn't smell unique enough to my nose either.
I'm not mad on the herbal nuances from the lavender both in the top and the heart notes and I find it quite medicinal smelling. It's what I get most of after the white floral notes and it makes this fragrance a bit more unisex to me, whilst still leaning somewhat feminine. I'm also not the biggest fan of the slightly dirty smell I get from the black currant. I like the fresh mandarin orange and petitgrain in the opening, though.
The orange blossom and jasmine in the heart notes are lovely and it is a soft and non-indolic white floral smell, which is both pretty and feminine. I wish that this stage lasted a bit longer and that the lavender didn't smother it somewhat like it did.
I love the base notes though and I find the vanilla most prominent to my nostrils, giving me this lovely, sweet and warm smell to this fragrance. The musk does that for me too, lending a soft powderiness to the composition. I also feel like this fragrance has just the right amount of woodiness from the cedar, though I could have done without the salty and briney smell I get from the ambergris. The ambergris gives me a slightly off smell from this on my skin and I'm not crazy about it.
I got about 9 hours wear from Libre by Yves Saint Laurent and a moderate sillage, so I think that you could get away with a couple of light sprays of this for work. It could also work for night time events too and I can imagine this being appropriate for spring, fall and winter because of its slightly cozier than light smell.
As I said before, I like this fragrance by YSL but I don't love it. I give Libre by Yves Saint Laurent a 7 out of 10 in total. Nice, but not full-bottle worthy for me. It might make a nice gift for a friend or loved one for Christmas though.
marialena888m
It’s a nice perfume, I was given a 5ml miniature as a gift, and I immediately got a compliment when I wore it. It smells clean, urban and sophisticated, I picture it as a boss lady or career-woman sort of scent. It sort of reminds me of my Classique EdP once it dries down, because of the warm and dense citrusy-vanilla backbone that they share, but Libre is cleaner, sharper, less powdery, less sweet, less sensuous, and more of a serious scent. Classique edp is wearing a frilly red cocktail dress, and Libre is in a navy-blue power suit, but they wear the same brand of sexy lingerie and red lipstick. The lavender note in Libre gives it that sharp/clean/unisex/professional edge. A versatile scent that will suit many occasions, but definitely not one for very warm summer days. It’s nice enough, but the orange-blossom + lavender combo feels abit too acidic and soapy for my liking, I prefer smoother and more powdery scents. I’m usually not a fan of lavender in perfumes anyway.
angieangie992
This perfume deservs a better rating, it's the best designer perfume I own
TexasOrangeBlossom
The drydown is beautiful! However, for me, the beginning is a bit harsh and headache inducing. I think the petitgrain gives it an almost plastic tape smell. Once it passes, I’m fine. I really do like it, but since I have Golden Decade, I won’t repurchase after my travel spray is finished. I prefer the Intense version.
MTK82
I'm not too impressed with this really strong and harsh perfume. With all the crazy hype around this I went ahead and got a sample...it smelled acidic, old fashioned and not feminine enough for my liking.
perfumepearl
This seems to be a beast mode perfume. The notes that I mainly get are lavender and orange blossom. The sillage is enormous and the lasting power is also extremely good. I think this suits every occasion, even though it's powerful. This is not something that should be gifted because it's kind of masculine. The intense version is more feminine than this. The l'absolu platine version smells almost identical with this, it's only a bit more fresh and aldehydic. This was a bit too masculine and strong for me, so I won't purchase this. Regardless, I really enjoyed it.
I rate this 8/10.
CustardBunny
Notes of orange and floral are heavy. Its headache inducing and stings in ur nose, quite honestly nothing special. Smells like any other "average" perfume for women. So boring and strong yet its gone from my skin after an hour. Snore. It doesnt smell bad, just incredibly basic for the price point.
hotbaby1
It’s very nice, it smells rich. I recommend do a wear test before buying. If you are into scents like Good Girl, Paradoxe, or even alien goddess intense, I’m not sure you would like Libre, as it’s a different kind of sweet…mature… sweet and sour? Definitely check the intense though.
Does anyone else get soap or laundry detergent?
Ulusia
Today I found out that on my skin it smells much pretier than on a paper strip in the mall. I am thinking about a bottle for winter, although I am not a fan of lavender, it is well complimented with other notes (I guess orange blossom and vanilla). So if you were not fond of the fragrance when testing it on paper give it another chance on skin.

Libre Yves Saint Laurent
Libre Edp has such a lovely scent profile. Fresh, Warm and beautiful. Feminine flora vanilla sweet and it's also slightly powdery and soapy yet makes the wearer feel elegant and gives a sophisticated and luxurious vibe.
This scent is pretty hyped everywhere else and reviews seems mixed. The lavender here is clean and more feminine than the usual musculine lavender in male scents. The initial opening blast has a sweetish juicy mandarin orange that smells so nice but fades away pretty quickly but the grapes sweetness hangs on longer.
The orange blossom and jasmine seems pretty prominent with the jasmine standing out and together with the lavender forms the heart and are the stars of the scent. The vanilla can be smelt from the start actually all the way to the drydown where it's like a smooth vanilla with powdery musk and slight woodiness.
Libre is definitely unisex with it's musculine traits and leans feminine. The overall clean powdery soapy floras makes it a good wear all day and night all weather. I've love to have a Showergel or form with a similar scent profile too.
Projectivity is good from the start with decent silage. It lasts quite a while too on skin. Well blended and no loud unbalanced notes. Lovely classy bottle design. If the scent profile appeals to you, do consider it.
dalkiuyu
Annoying contrarian that I am, I held off on testing this for the longest time because the hype turned me off and I was sick of seeing it everywhere. Well, I have since eaten several slices of humble pie because Libre deserves all the praise it gets.
First of all, incredible lasting power + sillage. You could just as easily wear this to the office as you could date night, IMO, and it works in all seasons. It leans slightly masculine but in the most appealing, intoxicating way - picture a lady in a black blazer dress, or wearing her boyfriend's oversized white button-down. As someone who normally dislikes lavender, it's so well-blended and balanced here to actually be very pleasing to my nose. I will probably always keep a bottle of this in my collection.

So I'm not liking the Libre line much. I don't like these notes because I don't appreciate the fact that a luxury brand released an entire collection based off of everyday cheap laundry detergent scents. It tells me that the brand only considers it's clothing to be worth the effort of creating but the fragrance doesn't need to be just as original let alone dimensional. Black Opium was just a preset for the Libre collection because nothing really changed. I expect a brand as old as YSL to know that the demographic buying their perfume varies, but we all expect a tad better even if we can't afford the clothing. If luxury brands don't want to offer something higher quality then I feel cheap. And that's exactly what J'adore has done. The brand happens to be aware they cater fragrances to people that don't know better and willingly buy what is familiar because it's plastered in front of them in the same spot at the mall 365 days a year. Big labels manipulate the disenfranchised into making them believe their fragrances are higher quality and better than ever before, but it's just the same million dollar scam you're all familiar with.
Mia80
I love it. It’s not a pushy smell, it’s little reserved, but inviting same time. It’s like a girl hard to get with a little sweet secret.
AgenticaBond007
Although it was so hyped, I never actually considered testing it according to notes that I usually don’t like. I was looking for some other perfume in store and they had libre tester so I’ve sprayed some on my wrist. Sparkling lavender with florals, musk and vanilla, very well blended, projected like crazy. Two days after, I was sitting in my office smelling something soothing like man cologne and realized my watch wristband still had libre drydown on it. Had to buy it right away because my nose was glued to my wristband all day. It’s longlasting, powerfull and classy. Excellent designer perfume. Really quickly became one of my favorite scents. Makes me happy. I tried other flankers, they smell good, but a little bit too crowd pleasing. They lack sharpness of original libre. Looking forward to try new l’absolu platine.
tanss
With all the hype around this fragrance I thought I would like it more. Not bad but not what I expected. Not my favourite scent profile.
nina4tj
Edit- I hope to learn to love it if I can’t find a trade for intense or le parfum.
nina4tj
Prefer the new flankers more! Both intense and the le parfum.
flyingfish90
Super pretty scent, the lavender is really well blended. I've always liked lavender the least out of floral fragrance notes, but lately I've developed an appreciation of it and currently have two lavender fragrances and am considering adding this one. It was an instant love. I got a sample from fragrancenet. Sophisticated, confident, warm, just lovely.
AUyliong
Starts off very strong and floral. Reminds me of the beautiful yet fleeting opening of YSL Cinema. Libre doesn't let up though. It's like they learned from their mistakes with Cinema. I can see why this is touted as an office frag. I think I've smelt this in the office already. Smells like a lady boss in her early 30's.
After drydown the strong florals give way to sweeter citrus backed up by some flowers. I can smell some Jasmine.
Sillage is strong. Longevity on my skin is about 7-8 hrs. I sprayed three times on one spot specifically to test this out.
creepy pasta
I really don’t like the white flora ending of this, the bottle screams 70,80s to me, nice bottle but the scent is kinda meh.
GirlOnFire
This is a no from me. All I get is sharpness. Not exactly a “hairspray” smell, I don’t know how I would describe this but this is not at all an enjoyable scent to me.
AnneAnne888
I had a sample vial of this and the first time I tried it I really disliked it. Months later, tried it and my nose started having allergic symptoms and I remembered that it did that the first time as well. After the spray settled down and it had 15-20 minutes to develop, it quieted down and no longer bothered my nose, however, just doesn't do it for me. I don't get all the notes allegedly in it but I do know that fragrances react different on different people's chemistry. I love lavender but I don't get the lavender I love in this, it's more like lavender air freshener, or bowl freshener, than actual lavender scent. As it develops and dries down it's softer yet still has this sort of citrus bite but not in a good way. I don't get black current or vanilla at all. It seems unisex but leaning a little more masculine. Towards dry down it's a little warmer, softer and spicier. But still get that little after shave thing happening.
Softpeacelily
Very much Lavender, mandarin and white floral. Orange blossom is a big yes from me. This perfume screams sophisticated grown woman in her prime. I have owned the intense for 2 years and I barely reach for it because of how strong it is, so it’s reserved for special occasions. I can wear this everyday. It’s inoffensive even with the strong lavender notes. I wish the jasmine was stronger but not sure what kind of smell that would create if the lavender and jasmine were both the strongest note. I enjoy the vanilla to add some warmth. It’s not strong like the intense which makes it a great all rounder, for office, date night, day trips..

Male review:
I remember, when my Mum used to wear this fragrance. This is one of feminine designers that I really like actually. It is linear and easy to wear, yet sweet, bright, quite luxurious, with a sparkle. I like it a lot, far more, than legendary Lancome Tresor with the Grojsman thing and peaches. As a designer formulation, I think it is primarily aroma-chemicals based with some naturals' support, as almost every time when you smell a designer fragrance. But, personally, I like this sparkling, bright, clean "amber like" quality in the fragrance, even Amber was not mentioned in the notes' list. Probably Linalool and Ethyl-Linalool harmony with some other Citrus raw materials gives the lavender nuance to the formula, I doubt natural lavender was used, maybe in some trace amounts though. It smells also clean to me. I believe, some Salicylates, Lily of the Valley raw materials were used to support the cleanness. Well selected white Musks, Vanillin, Ambroxan. I like the Lavender in this very much, also the effervescence. It smells quite elegant, eloquent and luxurious, yet versatile, suitable for every age group, in my opinion. I imagine a well dressed woman in a very elegant and sexy night dress entering the opera. This was just my imagination and loud mind, so take me with a grain of salt.
Enjoy.
Missjojoh
I blind brought this and really didn't like it at first... the lavender was too strong for me.
HOWEVER, I decided to give it another try and I actually have grown to really love it! Once the lavender has died down a bit it's a beautiful fragrance 😊
I wore it today and hours later I kept getting a waft of this lovely scent and eventually realised it was me! 😆
Sprayed each wrist once and one spray on my neck at 7.30 am can still smell it at 8pm
xorosexo
For my fellow sensitive skin girlies, beware: I can't spray this on my skin as I tend to get a bad allergic reaction to it. As a silver lining though, I think this smells even better on clothes than on my skin and it performs like a beast on a sweater!
This was one of the first perfumes I blind-bought back when I was just starting my collection and it was an instant love. I prefer to wear it in fall and winter so I'm so glad the weather is finally turning and I can bring this back out!
Autumnox
This reminds me a lot of CK one. With a feminine start, but CK One as soon as it dries. Love it though

I was at a family dinner when I first smelled Libre on my stunning, supremely successful, slightly stiff cousin, visiting for the first time in years the night before our Abuela’s funeral. I remember thinking as we hugged that her perfume was a great match for her. Not anything I could personally relate to, however. Following that dinner, Libre was in the air at the service, the celebrations, the casual dining, the living room late-night lamentations, and I grew to appreciate it’s signature-worthy versatility and grounding effect throughout such sentimental highs and lows. Without these experiences, Libre was once unremarkable to my nose. Because of them, it is to me a soothing song and a shield. I feel empowered and unflappable when I wear it, and it’s the first perfume I’ve ever owned that I have to talk myself out of wearing in order to give other bottles a wear. Getting to know Libre the way I did let me love it in a way I couldn’t have otherwise. I now find it truly lovely and lady-like, cautious and calculated, and comforting (enough) for those around you.
ingenpen
A like and a dislike at the same time - when I spray it, I like it... When I'm thinking about it - I do not wanna ever reach for it. Weird. I guess this is a scent profile that I do enjoy, but I am not over the moon with unfortunately.
I will wear the rest of my bottle in combination with some other perfumes I just find okay.
Sillykn
Smell like a rich confident successful woman. It's a masterfully done modern white floral. I usually hate vanilla but love it in libre. Great performance and gets lots of complements. Great for all year except for really hot weather.
I don't really get the masculine or unisex vibes others complain about to me its really feminine just not "girly".
LuckyLady777
I'm sorry but this is a hard no for me. I am relatively new to the Fragrance game, but this one here is a HARD pass for me. The powdery smell is overwhelming. It remind me of my grandmothers fragrances. The powder smell is too sharp for me, it's borderline offensive, makes me nauseous. I had high hopes for this one, I waited for the smell to evolve and settle, even wore it for a few hours to see if it grew on me. Still a no. I'm in my Mid 30s.
Alfie5505
I am on my last couple of sprays of a 50ml intense bottle and I am wondering to myself, will I buy this again? I am not sure that I will.
My two fave all time signature scents have been discontinued. Westwood’s Boudoir and Hermes 24 Faubourg are dead 🥲 I have been searching for my replacement for the last 18 months-2 years for my new go to parfum, so I tried this
It’s a good scent, has some feral smelling notes that I like. It has a creamy effervescent side to it once it sets in, it’s not a florally perfume, which is good for the lover of the oriental notes, just like me, but overall it’s just a bit better than average to me. I need more than average. I need sensational. And I think my search for the replacement still goes on for my signature scent but I have decided just now I think I will repurchase til I find my soulmate
Liana Clapier
lauravladelena
I don't feel the lavender to be honest. To me it smells like a white flower bouquet that's equally musky and sweet. It's a fun scent, good for a night out and a day at the office. I see it worn on a young woman who wears a lot of gold jewelry
spiderleenie
Stunning. On my skin, this is a musky lavender with a bit of sweetness to it. It's very much a "clean laundry fresh out of the dryer" kind of fragrance. I think it's a people pleaser, but not your typical gourmand people pleaser that's so popular these days. This is absolutely "signature scent" worthy.
Lavender is a tricky note to add into a perfume, because of it being such a sharp floral. I've experienced perfumes that have done it right, and I have experienced perfumes that have done it wrong. Libre absolutely does it right for me.
I can see where people are coming from when they say that this could be a unisex perfume, but I don't necessarily agree. Personally, I don't find the sharpness of the lavender to be particularly masculine. To me, it comes across feminine, but also classy and demure. It's not a "girly girl" fragrance.
I just feel really pretty and put together when I wear this. I think this perfume is sexy, but not "in your face," sexy, if that makes any sense.
mabelangel
mmmmm im not really a fan! it feels very cloying and the first initial sprays stank of dog food? it’s not particularly bad, just a bit boring and not very unique. it gets a meh from me
jillcicle
Powdery amber fragrances smell very 2008 to me and that’s what this becomes on my skin. A lot like an old tube of Sensual Amber from Bath and Body Works. A little cloyingly sweet in the top, with almost notes of heliotrope. Too powdery and sweet on me, and smells like an older woman imo. Something you would wear with cheetah print
solida
I am not very familiar with different scents, so my description may not be very precise. However, I would rate this fragrance 9 out of 10. It is perfect for evening events such as date nights or dinner parties. It has a more wintery scent than a summery one, if that makes sense.
carrico1986
I owe this fragrance another review. When I first tried it I thought, Meh...It's okay... Now that I've worn it more, I'm obsessed! I almost crave this scent! It is such a bright, beautiful, sweet lavender/orange blossom scent. I can understand the popularity of this fragrance! It's stunning :)
AleshaA
For a long time this didn’t work with my skin chemistry and followed reviews of the mass
so I held back from buying a large bottle always used travels sizes and the other flankers
As it’s been warmer the past week I thought I’ll give this a last testing and OMG was I wrong although most perfumes barely last on my skin this blew my mind absolutely divine I feel rich and money baby like nothing else straight out the shower and this is all you need to feel like the most luxurious woman on earth
Truly a masterpiece I fell for the reviews about how masculine this is and went for Mon guerlain which is a powdery mess and regret it for almost 3yrs
If you want a classy non vanilla fruity perfumes this is it
I’ve already ordered the largest bottle available
Can’t believe it took me this long to appreciate its richness
Very unique stand alone clean sort of perfume
don’t mistaken it can be unisex I don’t feel any sweetness just a freshness with class
emmamanson
I am obsessed with this perfume.
My boyfriend just got me this for my birthday. It's not my usual type of scent as I typically go for sweet, fruity scents but this is possibly my new favourite!
It makes me feel classy, sophisticated and like a woman, not a girl. I would totally wear this to work where I am trying to grow, or in the evening as a date night perfume or special occasion. It's bold and sexy on me. It does smell very strong so I only need a spray or two and that's plenty, so should last a long time!
Hstafford85
Hairspray and nail polish remover is what I smell mostly. I don’t smell florals or anything else.
Nosestalgic
This is such a strange smelling perfume to me! It presents itself so many different ways to my nose all at once that it ends up just being too much. I get a very strong licorice note and I'm not even sure where it is coming from because I've heard no one else mention it lol I also get a note that quite frankly makes me think of bathroom cleaner. There is a classic white floral note that is very strong as it dries down that just makes me think of rich old ladies. Like it smells expensive but then at the same time with everything else going on, it doesn't. It is strong. I definitely feel like it could be overpowering. I don't really like lavender and I don't get much lavender from this. I do however love orange blossom but I don't get that either. There's definitely something more masculine about this scent as well. Like it's not fully unisex but it straddles the line a bit with some of the notes I pick up. I wouldn't blind buy this, I feel like it is one of the more polarizing scents I've encountered recently. Very much loge it or absolutely hate it.
martixcx
I love this one! It must be my favourite right now - and maybe of all time. It makes me feel confident, sofisticated, cool (not just because this is dua lipa's perfume lol - can't deny it either), and it doesn't trigger my migraines. To me it's not like a girly-girl perfume but it has more of a unisex vibe - another thing that I really like. Also, the bottle is sooooo beautiful. Only thing that is missing to me is the longevity - especially during the summer time - it lasts about 2 hours on my skin - I was expecting something better from an eau de parfum, but idk maybe it's my skin? I need to try the Intense one. But anyway, to me, it's worth it. And I'll definitely buy it again when my bottle ends.
Dimanta
Beautiful fragrance. It’s very unique and interesting. I can smell lavender and orange. But when the Intense came out and then La Perfum those took over and became my favourite. I just love the tonal bean note in others that’s not in original EDP.
Also, with time it made me feel like it’s similar to Burberry Blush that I do not like, it reminds me of the cleaning tablets for the toilet. Maybe that’s the lemon note, not sure.
briannadedrew
Why is this so popular lol (respectfully). I mean it's not that bad, but it's pretty boring and I can't even tell which category it fits into (sweet, chypre, floral, fresh, etc.). Somehow uninteresting and weird at the same time. idk.
Woolly Israelita
it smells like fancy grape dryer sheets
fragrancetravel
At first spray this did not strike me as anything unique or memorable. After the initial dry down, it smelled super clean. The soapy lavender was the star of the show. I found it was VERY unisex due to this note. Think Eau de Gaga Parfum. I don't believe I gave it enough time - as now It has evolved into a sweet creamy vanilla. Some of the soapiness remains, but it has become quite feminine. Today I wore it to work, it boosted my mood throughout the day. The sillage is impressive but not overwhelming, the vanilla inoffensive. Still makes you feel pretty and you can go about life as normal knowing you smell really nice. It's subtle enough for everyday wear, simple enough for the beginner perfume aficionado, light enough for dwelling in close proximity with your coworkers. Not as incredible as it is hyped up to be - but then again, it is a crowd pleaser and I tend to like fragrances that are slightly dirty and grimy.
sagecoated
I don't know why but this one doesn't stay on my skin. Based on my research before purchasing, I thought I would fall in love but it turned out to be just 'meh' for me. I mean, nothing exceptional. It doesn't give me the supposedly strong, independent and impactful feeling. I like it when I catch it on other people but it's just not for me. I think this one isn't as loud as I had expected haha. I occasionally wear Intense though.
smithaker
Based on notes I thought I would love it.....but the lavender overwhelms other notes and it's ultimately just very generic to me.
shanabanana
I was so excited to try this after hearing all the hype and I'm disappointed. To me it smells like a generic men's fragrance, nothing special at all. I'm honestly baffled as to what people like about it
judearose123
This fragrance smells like generational wealth and sophistication. Everyone that complains about it being a “granny” perfume are still in their BBW mist/pink sugar phase. It’s a little powdery & clean but not in a vintage way, this is definitely a modern take on a musky floral. The dry down on my skin isn’t anything special, but on clothing it dries down to a luxurious musky vanilla. The performance is perfect, not too loud and not too subtle. 10/10.
Chira
I am biased but this for me is a great smell, just not how I would like my perfume to smell like. In other words, I don't mind if someone is smelling like this but I would rather not 😁
My dad used to wear Pi by Givenchy. He had a lot of woolen suits so he always had lavender bags in his closet. In that same closet were his shirts and other clothes that were washed with a floral detergent.
His closet smelled like Libre drydown on my skin 😊 I almost cried when I smelled that combination again. Will keep the decant I have to smell it from time to time, but once it is gone I will never touch anything Libre again ❤️
Jessiebaby
This perfume smells delightful. Super floral and feminine. A gorgeous, classy, put together woman I can see wearing this.
shesgottabuyit
If you like lavender you simply cannot go wrong with Libre! The lavender smells clean and prominent while the frag itself is beautiful, elegant, and fresh with a slight seductive touch of warmth from the vanilla. The fruits and florals are beautifully blended support for the lavender- it's not too sharp or too basic. Libre Intense is my (fall/winter) signature scent which I adore because it's the perfect lavender/vanilla balance but the original is also amazing and a classic scent you can wear for any occasion. It's absolutely worth having both for me, and both are on my forever list! I always get compliments when I wear it.
sw33tlikeh0ney
every influencers’ perfume, nothing to love. for me it is just a regular zara perfume which gives me migraine and i hated it because i see it in everybodys hand on social media. because of that, 6 of 10 people on street smell libre.
ievaid
when i first sprayed it on, i was kind of surprised - this is straight-up soap? like the lavender savon de marseilles i used to keep in my sock drawer, and maybe a little like the musgo real soaps from portuguese brand ach brito that the men in my family like to use. i originally wanted to try libre because people kept comparing it to replica's coffee break (which i love), and i definitely see the resemblance. libre is a coffee break where you skip the coffee altogether and just go straight to the washroom to wash your face and hands. i can almost taste the soap.
the heart and base notes are where libre really shines, once the soapiness fades. it becomes a gorgeous, slightly citrusy, coumarinic amber; to my nose, this is rather masculine, or perhaps androgynous like a woman dressed in a sharp masculine suit. attractive, but a little distant; a capricorn sort of scent. it's fresher and more suitable for the hot weather we're having than coffee break, but i kind of miss the coffee a little bit. i like it, it's very much my sort of scent, but i'm still not fully sure how i feel about it, what with the soap-bomb top notes.
The13thHour
It's overly hyped and nothing to special in my opinion. I have a love-hate relationship with this perfume. I might declutter it in the future.
pinotos802
Another crowd pleaser, a little bit overhyped but still a good one. Unfortunately you smell this absolutely everywhere and it is not special or unique anymore.
Porsha1021
They overhyped this it was blind buy it did not give me that wow factor it was a plain old lady scent to me nothing stood out definitely did not smell any vanilla notes I just don't get the hype.
Lollo
Really like!

Okay, first I want to say all of you who left negative review, hush hush. We dont believe any word you are saying, go away and tell your lies somebody else, becose this parfym is totally AMAZING! Beautiful and gorgeous.
This is signature for somebody who have free soul and free mind. Soft, warm and mix perfectly with your own chemistry, almost like it is your natural scent. Lavender make little masculine vibe at first, but just wait and the magic happens. It become just beauty and feminine, soft and warm, free and comforting parfym that you couldnt resist.
Please note, that If you sniffing your wrist like me, all the time, somebody could think that there is something wrong with you :D So try to avoid that when there is other people around you, I know its hard, becose Libre smelling so, so good, and getting better and better after time goes by..
Libre is definitely my new signature, no doubt. Great job YSL!
Germany
When I smelled Libre for the first time I had no ideas of any of the notes as I never saw it here on fragrantica nor at any store . My friend brought it over from Europe for my birthday and I though “ oh no , my taste is so particular how could she lol “ however very nice of her . I could always give it away as a gift or wear it on occasion I thought.
I opened it and smelled it and immediately loved it. This stuff is good ! I looked up the notes and was in complete love now. A lavender perfume with vanilla. ...one of my favourite category of all times. This perfume has incredible staying powder , great silage and amazing performance. It’s like a memory of the past , to me it’s Europe in a bottle. This is how perfumes use to perform , memories of the 80s here ,updated. Great quality , elegant , sophisticated yet sexy and warm. It has a sweet creamy vibe which is slightly herbal and aromatic , the vanilla makes it so feminine and sexy , something is slightly fresh it must be the lavender and jasmine and orange musk and ambergris that may appear ever so slightly soapy. All the notes are pretty much a combination of my favourites notes. So to me this perfume is heavenly !
Ambergris , musk , cedar and vanilla are the base of this creamy rich scent that manages to be light and fluffy at the same time. Masterpiece to my nose.
Libre is described as a sexy cool , warm floral walking the line between masculine and feminine ,they say it’s the hottest launch of the year , they say Libres freestyle takes on the fougere , a classic style of men’s fragrances featuring lavender with the warm heart of the vanilla and ambergris and burning hot with orange blossom. ...
The only thing not so great about this perfume is the cheap light plastic cap. It should have more weight to it. It cheapens the perfume bottle somewhat.
I see Sephora carries this now. So I ordered a purse spray from there. Not that it’s needed as this perfume lasts and lasts into the night and next morning.
Emjokuh
Wow. I loved this in the store... but I had no idea..
When I first sprayed this on after I bought it, wasn’t truly impressed, but it was pleasant enough to continue wearing. I wore it to work.
At work I had to wear a mask and be with one patient for over an hour with an N95 on my face.
When I came out of the room and could finally breath fresh air and could smell my aura...
Holy cow.
Guys.
This is the most magnificent developer. I have no been disappointed with the growth that has occurred and persisted for the now 13 hours I’ve had it on.
Lasts forever.
Gets richer and lovelier with time.
Projects well enough that people smell you when you walk by.
It really did blow me away. At first, it smelled too simple and clean, but boy was I wrong.
I love it.
Could be a new sig.
DT953
Look, it's not a bad release or anything and the fact that it's nothing groundbreaking doesn't really take away anything for me ... but it's business perfume, plain and simple. Hitting the right chords to be a big seller and not really building from that. In saying that, it does a good job at that so no complaints.
Once the ultra synthetic opening settles down, it becomes a lovely vanilla and orange blossom fragrance with light herbal aspects that softly waft around you. Would it be someone's signature? Sure, why not. It's a 'live, laugh, love' wall-sign type of scent, though.
msiska
Oh wow, this is an eye-opener. Libre does smell like free air, but gorgeously fragrant.
The head is so enchanting that I literally gasped. My overall impression is delicate floral. There is no loudness, no cliché. Now and then I get the slightly masculine vibe of lavender, but the whole composition is blended so masterfully that it doesn't feel manly, it just feels confident. Unisex? No way. It is feminine as can be.
And the longevity is exceptional.
puddley
I was so keen to try this one and it's a whopping disappointment. It's as if someone at YSL decided the following:
1. Fougeres are having a moment
2. Gender neutrality is having a moment
3. La Vie est Belle has been having a moment for years
Lets' combine all three!
The result is that it smells like something your Dad wore in the 80s combined with a bucket of vanilla and ethyl maltol. I didn't think YSL could make a bigger olfactory nightmare than Black Opium but this is a contender.
chicagogirl
I am a warm, cozy perfume and fruity floral lover so my opinion will probably be affected by this. If you are the opposite of this you'll love it. This has drawn comparisons to Mon Guerlain from a look at the notes, but it is very, very different. MG is a warm, cozy feminine soft perfume. This is an icy, cold, serious, fresh, rugged kind of fragrance IMO. A masculine, fresh, woodsy perfume for women. The masculine notes in this remind me of the masculine notes in CH Good Girl. It's like Good Girl without gourmand notes. Very different perfumes but this has the same slightly masculine tone in the notes. I got a deluxe little sample bottle from Sephora using my points and I am so glad I didn't purchase a full size bottle just from sniffing those little fragrance papers in magazines. In the magazine paper this is a lot warmer, more floral and feminine. But actual perfume is extremely men's cologne-like upon dry down. When first sprayed you get that little bit of vanilla and lavender with extremely fresh, almost pine-y woodsy notes in the background. The fresh woodsy notes totally distinguish this from Mon Guerlain. Within only a few minutes the vanilla is gone and it is just pure woodsy cedar with a distant echo of jasmine. It smells fresh and clean, almost like a men's soap. It has a cologne quality to it.This has the potential to be offensive and disliked in close quarter type jobs in my opinion. It's not soft or subtle at all and very strong. This is coming from someone who almost NEVER says perfumes are too strong (check my reviews lol). I absolutely love, love, love the bottle. It looks regal. YSL makes some of my most beloved perfumes (Mon Paris and Black Opium) but this ain't it sis.
victoria.mei1992
More I wear it, more I dislike it. It's hard to smell anything else apart lavender which makes it smell like cheap men cologne.
jovejove
I believe that people enjoy it, but to me, the mix of the powdery lavender, brightness and creamy tone of jasmine with the sweet orange blossom, reminds me of an old sun bleached yellow Tupperware container we use to garden with. It turns my stomach and smells plastic/chemically. The opening is nice, but the more it sits, I want to scrub it off. It smells like a light veil on others, but it turns monsterous on me, at least what I experience.
Joys of life
Ok stop lying Yves Saint Laurent, Is there Cashmeran in here?? Or Cashmere woods?
Blergh. This perfume smells like a freshly stocked and mopped dollar store. Add a note of toilet air freshener lavender, and vanilla candles + something ammoniac and boom, you have Libre. (Ok and a lil' orange blossom). I don't hate on fragrances much but this is YSL and.. just.. no.
This is similar to Living Lalique, which shares that lavender/cashmeran/vanilla DNA and is a decent dupe (a bit heavier and more unisex than Libre) at a quarter of the price. Try before you buy.
@reviewers above me wondering why this is considered generic I'll take a guess and say that the common perception is the age of LVEB is over and the industry are now ALL doing lavender.
