Information and FAQs for lecturers

First year examinations (BP, part of the Bachelor's programme)

  • The first year examinations complete the first year of the Bachelor programme.
  • The first year examinations are always grouped into at least one examination block, which means that all examinations have to be taken in the same session.

Split first year examinations (pilot project)

  • Starting with the Autumn Semester 2016 a pilot project will be carried out in the following five Bachelor study programmes: Computer Science, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Computational Science.
  • The first year examinations are not conducted as one examination block at the end of the first year, but they are split into two separate examination blocks. The first one of these blocks can be taken after the first semester already, the second block can be taken after the second semester.
  • The first year exams are considered passed, once both examination blocks are passed.

Additional requirements

  • The Admissions Committee examines the extent to which an applicant’s previous education meets the prerequisites for enrolment on a programme. A lack of previous knowledge must be compensated for by providing additional study achievements – so-called additional requirements.
  • In accordance with the decision on admissions, these additional requirements may be examined as individual examinations as well as individually compiled examination blocks.

Didactical training

  • The "Lehrdiplom für Maturitätsschulen (LD)" certifies the successful completion of pedagogic-didactic training with regard to teaching in the designated subjects at secondary schools (Kurz- and Langgymnasium), specialist secondary schools, universities of applied sciences and other higher educational establishments. It presupposes a corresponding Master degree.
  • The teaching certificate (DZ) certifies the successful completion of basic teacher training in the respective subject.

Master of Advanced Studies (MAS)

  • Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) und Master of Business Administration (MBA) are continuing university education programmes. They require a master degree (MSc, MA) and professional experience or an equivalent educational status. In individual cases, however, they can follow on directly from a master’s degree. Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS)
Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS)

  • CAS- and DAS programmes aim to give greater depth or interdisciplinary breadth to an original academic qualification. They are aimed at university graduates who are working and wish to enhance their professional skills or specialise in a particular subject.
