Историята:
At a Mariners baseball game and noticed a familiar face across the aisle from us. Texted a couple friends and found out it was Jared Paladecki from Gilmore Girls and Supernatural. Anyways, didn't think much of it but then he took a turn, looked at me for a while, then literally came up and showed me the Rolex 5517 Mil-Sub he was wearing. He noticed my Steinhart OVM and told me to put on his Rolex immediately. He then shared some photos of the rest of his collection and his lady showed me her own Rolex. He then asked for my email and shot me a note saying he send some more photos of the rest of his collection.
So awesome. Mostly because I got to see a Mil-Sub in person let alone try one on. Amazing.

While at a baseball game last night, my buddy and I noticed a steady stream of people asking to take pictures with someone sitting across the aisle from us. Turns out it's Jared Padalecki, who's been on a couple of TV shows, most recently CW's Supernatural.
We don't think much of it and continue to watch the game. Then while he's in the aisle taking photos with a fan, he looks over at us, comes in pretty close and squints at the Steinhart OVM I'm wearing. He then smiles, pulls his sleeve back and shows me his watch, a Rolex 5517 Mil-Sub.
My jaw drops, he then proceeds to tell me to try it on and snap a picture. He then starts showing me photos of his collection (couple of Patek's and lots of Rolex's) His wife was with him (also relatively famous) and she was wearing a peppermint dial Rolex Day/Date. We got to talking for a while about watches and what they were doing in town. He then asked for my email address so he could send me more photos of his collection and to talk more about watches. Kid you not (don't expect him to but funny how much he was nerding out)
TL;DR - Famous actor saw my Steinhart OVM then told me to try on the real Rolex 5517 that he was wearing.

- Totally. He was extremely humble and was so excited to talk about watches. He asked me about the OVM and how impressed he was with the homage. So for those of you guys on the fence about "homages", the owner of a 5517 approves your future purchase of an OVM ; )

- I'm surprised you didn't mention this: Did he think your OVM was a 5517 at first? I mean, from a distance I imagine he did - and meeting another 5517 in the wild may not happen too often unless you actively trade vintage Rolexes. Then, I suppose to a fellow watch enthusiast (who probably doesn't gaze low enough to pick up on Steinhart like we do), he was intrigued by the whole homage thing.
- He mentioned seeing the small "1" on the dial that resembles the "T" tritium marker which made him double take. I think he knew I wasn't wearing one but given the similarities he had to investigate further.

- The Mil-sub is a Rolex made for the British military and now one of the most expensive Rolex you can buy, $150k+. The Stienhart is a much more affordable Mil-sub homage, the actor noticed OP was wearing it and wanted to share his original.
- I paid just under $480 directly from Steinhart but with the strength of the dollar now, probably less.
