Grinning
Thinking Laughing

Like Tommy Lee Wallace’s terrific 1990 television hit IT starring an almost iconic Tim Curry, the big-screen version that’s currently in the pipeline will also be split into two parts. JANE EYRE’s Cary Fukunaga has landed the directing gig of the supernatural thriller spanning many decades and is one of King’s lengthier novels. The book follows group of close young friends who find themselves are stalked by the demonic and demented Clown named Pennywise, whose figure continues to haunt them into their adult lives.
Fukunaga will co-write the screenplay alongside Chase Palmer and is expected to shoot later next year.

Josh Boone To Bring Stephen King’s Lisey’s Story To Big Screen

You would never think that Josh Boone has made only one film, the guy is already in high demand! Not only is currently filming the highly anticipated adaptation of John Green’s THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, he announced today that his next project will be an adaptation of Stephen King’s LISEY’S STORY.

LISEY’S STORY follows the story of Lisey Landon, the widow of famous novelist Scott Landon, as she recalls the life of her husband as she is being stalked and terrorised by one of her husband’s fans. King has stated himself that it is the best novel he has ever written.

Not only did King appear in Boone’s directorial debut STUCK IN LOVE, but Boone also revealed a very interesting backstory to how he become known to the writer:

“I wasn’t allowed to read Stephen King. I had to rip the covers off of Christian books and glue them to Stephen King books, so that I could read them. I remember reading The Stand under my bed when I was 12, and I hid the book in the box springs under my bed, and my mom found it and burned it in the fireplace. I wrote him a letter when I was 12, just to tell him how much I loved his books and how much I wanted to be a writer when I grew up and that he was my idol. I sent him a couple books, hoping that he’d sign them. I came home from school one day and my dad said, “There’s a box here from Stephen King.” He had written me this beautiful letter in the front covers of each of the books. My parents were just so moved by the generosity, that he was willing to take the time to do that, that they lifted the Stephen King ban. “

Josh Boone will start adapting the project after filming finishes for THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner, who are producers for TFIOS, will also be producing LISEY’S STORY.

The Stand Director Wants To Shoot On Location; Will Christian Bale Star?
Writer/Director Scott Cooper speaks about the Stephen King adaptation

When director Scott Cooper replaced Ben Affleck as writer and director of the Stephen King adaptation "The Stand" for Warner Brothers and CBS Films, you could hear the sound of jaws dropping all over Hollywood. The former actor had one critically acclaimed hit under his belt with "Crazy Heart," but taking on a sprawling project like King's 800+ page novel was another thing entirely.

Since then, Cooper has been relatively mum on the project. But with the multi-hyphenate's second feature "Out Of The Furnace" in theaters this December, MTV News had to ask him for an update during a recent press junket.
"It's a daunting challenge to take a long novel, a beloved novel, and condense that into a standalone film," Cooper said on the adaptation. "It's a process. There's a reason that film hasn't been made. It's the themes, and the scope, and the size."

The book, long considered one of King's best works, shows what happens when a deadly flu strain nicknamed "Captain Trips" is released, killing most of the world's population. What follows is not just a post-apocalyptic survival tale, but also an epic supernatural battle between good and evil to decide the fate of what remains of humanity. The story has previously been adapted into a critically acclaimed 1994 TV mini-series, as well as numerous Marvel comics.

Despite the big budget trappings, Cooper is hoping to take a very different, much more down-to-earth slant on directing the feature. "My approach, much like 'Out of The Furnace' is searingly realistic [and grounded]," Cooper continued. "That can be a very expensive endeavor, one that maybe doesn't marry with how a movie like that should be shot, just because of the sheer expense."
Adding to that expense would be the sprawling locations of "The Stand's" narrative, which range from Nebraska to Las Vegas, and all over the rest of the United States. Good thing Cooper can shoot on a sound stage, right? Wrong:

"I prefer to shoot on location," Cooper said in response to the idea of shooting in a studio. "It imbues the entire production with a sense of place and authenticity that I strive for. I'm certain that whether consciously or subconsciously it affects the actor's performances, and the crew, quite frankly. It's critical to my process that I shoot not only where I've written the screenplay, but shooting the exact locations I wrote it for."

Cooper isn't just tied to shooting on location, either. He's also formed a strong bond with "Out of the Furnace" star Christian Bale, and hopes to bring him on to "The Stand."

"Well, Christian's a part of everything I'm writing, and I tend to share things with Christian in the infancy stage that I don't share with other people," Cooper said on the prospect of Bale joining "The Stand." "He's become one of my, not just closest friends, but a great collaborator, and wouldn't be surprised to see me and Christian teaming up on many things."

That's certainly far from a confirmation, but for fans of King's novel the prospect of Bale as the villainous Randall Flagg is a tempting one. We'll have more on that tomorrow.
As of now, there is no official release date for "The Stand."

Докато е в Париж, на Кинг му хрумва идея за нова история:

While sitting in a van last week on a congested street in Paris, his mind wandered: “What if there was a man sitting in a van or a taxi cab in a strange city and a bus pulled up. He looked into it and he saw a man and a woman and the man cut the woman’s throat. Now you could say, Steve, that idea’s really … weird, and I would agree with you, but there’s a story there, and when I get back home, I’m going to try and write it.”

So here's this guy who fly into La Guardia airport and his plane is late and he goes down to get his luggage and his luggage is off course the last one of the plane and the thing is he's coming to New York because all though he's married he has a mistress and he told his wife his going to be home tomorrow but he's been detained on business. So he's all ready and gearing to go when he has all these things holding him back. So the plane is late, luggage is last, he goes out to the taxi, his at the end of the queue and he finally gets a cab and he goes into New York. As the cab pulls up next to another car he looks into it and sees a woman and a man sitting there and as he looks the man take a razor out of his jacket and cuts the woman’s throat. Well, what does this guy do now? I don't know...
